Haiti Trip Essay
Bonjou!
I would like to thank you so much for supporting me on my third trip to Haiti! This trip
was such an amazing experience and incredible opportunity to serve; it flew by way
too fast! It s sad coming to the realization that my trip is over, but also so amazing
looking back at all of my pictures! (All 2,421 of them! phew!) I would love to share
with you what we did there, and how it turned out completely different and way better
than anyone on my team could have imagined. When we arrived in Port au prince Haiti,
my whole team and I piled ourselves into three white land cruisers and started off on our
six hour journey to Terre Blanche. About an hour into the drive, when the initial photo
taking phase was over, the travel weariness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We would wake up around 7:30, eat breakfast, and then head down to the high school
to teach english. This is when we really realized that our plans were going to go down
the drain. Within the first 15 minutes of teaching english, we were no longer with our
planned age group, and were teaching basic english to eighteen to twenty two year
olds. We taught until noon, and then headed back to the house for lunch, and four
hours of free time. Some of us slept, because of the crazy heat and humidity, and some
of us crazy folk went down to the soccer field to play soccer and take pictures (the
taking pictures part was me :) After a couple hours of soccer, and jump roping and
pictures, we headed back to the house for dinner. During the past couple months of
preparation, my team planned a youth revival, but when we got down to the school
yard was, we found out that a whole city revival was planned. There were pastors and
worship teams from around Haiti that came for the revival. We soon realized that we
were definitely not the ones running the show, and that we were just there to dance with
the people, and to sit with them! It was almost better this way, because we got to build
relationships with people that originally wouldn t have
Beyonce Feminist Analysis
When Beyonce stood in front of a large LED screen that displayed FEMINIST at the
2014 VMA awards, like minded women everywhere cheered. There stood a celebrity
who did not shy away from the word that had become similar to a curse. Very few
women were willing to own up to the title of Feminist before Beyonce did. It is, perhaps,
a leftover sentiment from the raging second wave of feminism, the so called bra burners
who would protest Miss America Pageants. Today, Feminism attempts to speak for a
broader definition of women than in the past. In the midst of the second wave of
feminism, non white women were still trying to be heard in the feminist movement. In
the Combahee River Collective, Black Women state that, The only people who care
enough about us to work consistently for are liberation are us. Though truly it is difficult
to discuss the history that we are living today, Feminism has tried to embrace both queer
feminists and non white feminists, and also feminists who are unafraid to embrace their
femininity. Rio Grrl is particularly famous for publishing... Show more content on

Together, they uncovered shared injustices that, for the housewives, transcended from a
personal problems to political. For instance, once many women discovered that the
housework fell solely on their shoulders and even those whose claimed their husbands
helped out could identify the issue of women being assigned a task based on their
gender was an issue. Second Wave Feminists began to use Consciousness raising to
identify some of the issues they wanted to fight for, such as: reproductive rights, work
place equality, and domestic violence awareness and prevention. However, many of these
sessions revolved around the white middle class women, which guided feminists goals
towards benefitting only one
What Happened In Luvungi Summary
Background
Interestingly, in 2013 Laura Heaton questioned the narrative of violence against women
in her article about the mass rape in Luvungi. Heaton s article for Foreign Policy titled
What Happened in Luvungi? , questioned whether three hundred and eighty seven
women were truly raped during a rebel attack in Luvungi. Heaton discusses the high
statistics of rape in Eastern Congo. The New York Times reported Congo population at
approximately 70 million people, and 1.8 million women were raped in the whole state.
Additionally, in one year period 438,785 Congolese women were raped. Gettleman,
Jeffery. Congo Study Sets Estimates for Rapes Much Higher. The New York Times,

notoriously hard to come by in Congo. Heaton. What Happened in Luvungi? (2013). For

Importantly, my project raises questions about how to better understand the relationship
of donors and recipients to reduce the disconnection between projects that donors support
and actual needs of recipients. The disconnection of donors and recipients caused damage
to Congo, and the disconnection is a issues that effects how effective international aid is
to a country. Importantly, further research needs to be conducted to gauge the impact of
community based projects, over the issue based project to understand if one is a more
effective use of aid. The aid process needs to involve native intellectuals, community
leads, and other the communities to better accesses issues that affect the recipients of aid.
Ultimately, there needs to be further research on the consequences, intended and
unintended, for over reporting on a single issue of a conflict, because the simplification
of a conflict into a single issue can cause damage by those with the intention to
Dog Whistling Is A Term Used By Politicians
Dog Whistle Politics is a term used by politicians to persuade the people by gaining
their votes into a political position of power. Dog Whistling has been used for years by
politicians to achieve what they want while campaigning for public offices. Politicians
have been maneuvering and scheming for years during elections for the peoples vote.
They have always put on a show for the people just to receive their vote. They set their
sights on an office of public position and they begin a long and hard working race to
gain votes. Dog whistling is just a different way for them to use codes or demonstrate
to certain people to what they are really trying to say. Politicians portray a good and
upright demeanor. It s part of their job. During their campaign for a specific position,
they make promises to the people, they put time into well thought out and written
speeches, they research every city and the population during the campaign tour and it
is all to persuade the vast majority of people for their vote. It deals with race as well. Dog
Whistling and racism seem to go hand in hand because it s dealing with race. Racism
has been in politics for years. Dog Whistling is just a word used to speak to a certain
group of people in code. Racism is still imbedded in us as people because we cannot
treat each other equal. Some politicians use Dog Whistling as a way to speak to the
mass of racism that is still current in today s society. The author in this book uses Dog

Corrupt Influence
For my weekly journal, I decided to talk about Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt
Organizations Act. This act was established in 1970 by the congress to prevent organized
crime in the United States. One of the cases that I found online talks about two
companies Allstate Insurance Company and Providence chiropractic office. Providence
Chiropractic violated the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO)
Act so Allstate Insurance Company decided to sue them. Allstate Company accused them
for misrepresenting medical records to lift insurance claims. The owner submitted false
bills looking for installment for treatment that was never provided. Allstate claims that

The Battle of Agincourt Essay
The Battle of Agincourt occurred in the middle Ages, on October 25, 1415. This battle is
one of the most memorable and strategically fought battles between England and France.
The Battle of Agincourt involved England and France near Agincourt. The Battle of
Agincourt happened during the Hundred Years War . The hundred year War began in
1337 and ended in 1453. The hundred years war actually lasted 116 years. The Hundred
Years war included England, France and later Burgundy. Sometimes England won the
battles and sometimes France won (Keegan 79).
The Battle of Agincourt happened because of The Treaty of Bretigny. The Treaty of
Bretigny came about because of Henry V s great grandfather King Edward III. King

In 1405, King Henry IV got sick and Prince Hall took over most of his duties until his
death in 1413. Prince Hal became King, took on the name of King Henry V. King Henry
V fell into his role as king quickly, and got involved in other battles prior to the Battle of
Agincourt that prepared him for that battle (Middle Ages.org).
King Henry V wanted to continue the negotiations with France and made some
demands that the French thought was ridiculous. King Henry V was willing to give up
some items in the Treaty but only if France paid 1.6 million crowns; part of the debt
owed his ancestors for the capture of John II. In addition, he wanted the France to give
up Aquitaine, Normandy, Touraine, Anjou, Brittany, Flanders and other territories. King
Henry would marry the Princess of France, King Charles VI daughter and received pay
of 600,000 crowns (Keegan 80).
France refused to negotiate; so King Henry asked the Parliament to tax France for the
inheritance that they owed him. France ignored England s demands. On April 14, 1415,
King Henry V asked the Parliament to sanction war against France. The Parliament
agreed and the Battle with France will soon follow. England was preparing for the Battle
of Agincourt (Middle Ages.org).
King Henry V began to inspire his army with speeches that gave them pride, courage
and hope. Shakespeare s St. Crispen s Day Speech puts in perspective how Henry V led
his army to fight the French.
The title of the speech was in honor of two
What Are Flashbulb Memories
Throughout our lives, we definitely have gone through a lot of experiences and made
memories. Some of the memories are easily forgotten, while some others are
remembered distinctively, vividly and can be recollected confidently. This is called
the flashbulb memory. Flashbulb memory is like a very clear picture of a particularly
impactful event which had caused one to be affected emotionally. For example, I
remember this performance that my school choir was performing. It was during
Christmas season and we decided to spray bubble foam to portray fake snow. However,
the plan backfired when the wind blew at our direction and all the foam flew back to
us. This was remembered very clearly because I was embarrassed and had experienced
something so

The film revolves around three schoolmates and their relationship with girls. Mikio is

17. Harmful Insect (Akihiko Shiota, 2001) Harmful Insect is a coming of age film
about a teenager, junior high student, Sachiko, with a plethora of problems. Her father
has abandoned her and her mother, who has developed since suicidal tendencies,
extreme mood swings and a peculiar taste in boyfriends. Furthermore, her beloved sixth
grade teacher has been forced to retire due to rumors of having an affair with her. Due
to the aforementioned, Sachiko has become detached from both the school and her
home environment, thus resulting in her skipping classes and roaming the streets with
a teenage delinquent and Mr Kyuzo, a vagrant with the mind of a child. Akihiko Shiota
portrays a young girl that does not seem able to get a break, thus becoming an utterly
tragic figure, a fact stressed even more by her attitude. She tries to appear strong and
cool, rarely uttering a single word; however, she is very sensitive and uses the tactic to
cope with her problems and her silence to keep her issues hidden inside her. Nevertheless,
the growing distance between her attitude and her feelings, unavoidably result in an

The Aspects of Hazing
The word hazing connotes a variety of different meanings depending on the stance one
takes. Some people assume hazing provides the possible prospect of bonding and social
acceptance. Others conclude hazing creates a dividend between the society of fraternity
and sorority organizations. No matter what direction one takes, both sides have the
ability to propose a positive solution that will effectively help the effects of hazing.
Once a personal analyzes the positive and negative aspects of hazing then he or she has
the ability to propose a solution that will benefit both sides of hazing. The word hazing
originates from a time during the 16th century when sailors would taunt new sailors
during hazy weather. Hazing made its appearance long... Show more content on

In claiming that another resultant of hazing prepares pledges for impending
emotional, mental, and physical pain that will appear during their adulthood, they
persuade others to view hazing as they do. When pledges complete their hazing it
brings forth unity amongst the brothers and sisters. Not only do they see hazing as a
means of bringing people together, but also for weed[ing] out people who don t want
to take the process seriously ( Arguments For and Against ). No social group wants to
have a member who does not commit his or herself to the fraternity or sorority. So
higher status members feel the task of deciding who takes fraternity and sorority
matters seriously bears on their shoulder alone. Pro hazing individuals believe hazing
sets up a positive system of the deciding factor of who stays and goes. Overall they
believe that hazing benefits either the new pledge or the fraternity and sorority system
as a whole. The stance that anti hazing individuals most likely take come with the
statistics that hazing results in student death and possible sexual harassment. Individuals
who also oppose the hazing ritual shall take the stance of saying it pressures students to
make senselessly foolish decisions. Hazing causes a loss of self preservation. Hazing
entices them to forget about his or her own self and individuality and to trade his or her
humanity or self respect in exchange for full inclusion
Essay On The Decision To Leave The Ireland
June 23rd, 2016, 51.9% of the UK electorate voted to leave the European Union. The
then French Prime Minister, Manuel Valls, described the decision to leave the EU as
an explosive shock and stated that now is the time to invent another Europe (BBC
news). What has followed since is a period of economic turmoil and uncertainty
(Mazars). However, this explosive decision could be used to Irelands advantage and as
a tool to invent another Ireland. Ireland presently has all the means and resources to
capitalise on the multinationals that are sure to move out of the UK following Brexit.
Ireland is in a prime position as a relocation spot for these multination s due to its

In 2016, it is reported (by The Irish Times) that a mere 2,076 houses were built in
Ireland. That figure becomes even more shocking when we exclude one off properties
built during this period. That reduces the number to an incredulous 848 apartments
and estate houses built in 2016. A far cry from the 8,729 estimated by the Department
of Housing (The Irish Times). As for Irelands city regions, well in Dublin city and
surrounding area, the nation s capital and core business centre where more than half a
million people already call their home, a disbelieving 336 apartments and estate
houses were completed. Only sixty eight of those were actually built in Dublin city
according to figures in The Irish Times. In Cork city, Irelands largest county and an
already well established base of many major multination s, out of the 848 apartments
and estate houses only twenty one were built in Cork city. So where does new
Minister for Housing, Eoghan Murphy, expect incoming multinational firms to house
their employees? Perhaps in a hotel or B B, increasing the ridiculous figure of €39
million that has already been spent on housing Dublin s homeless families in these
hotels and B B s. Or maybe he ll house them in the other forms of private emergency
housing which has already drained nearly €10 million from the Irish economy in the
last year. However, these dismal figures representing the lack of housing being built in
city regions is not even the main issue Irelands faces at
Ancient Mayans Research Paper
Ancient Mayans
Who were the Ancient Mayans? The Ancient Mayans were a religion/culture that was
in Mesoamerica (Southern Mexico, Guatemala, and Belize) beginning at around 250
CE. They believed in over 165 gods and made advanced calendars and astronomical
buildings, they believed heavily on the fact that religion and science were the same
thing. They were able to calculate solar years and predict solar eclipses. The Maya
believed everyone went to the underworld ruled by evil gods shown as jaguars. The
three major gods were the god of the sun, the god of maize, and the god of rain but they
had a god for almost everything in nature and had a strong belief in forest spirits. They

The Maya carried out sacrifices, this was one of the things they were known for, they
would build great astronomical buildings used for these rituals/sacrifices. An example
of the types of sacrifices they did is something called a bloodletting performed by the
people but run by the priests. The Maya believed that the underworld could be
accessed from the physical world through things such as a cave or cenote (natural pit
or sinkhole). The underworld to them is not like say hell like in christian faith but
more of a world of the dead. There are multiple beliefs for this underworld though some
believed in something called Xibalba which was a dark and horrid place but there is a
story in one of their texts that states two twins going into Xibalba to rescue their father,
and kill the lords of death. Some believed that the dead could come back to the physical
world and speak to the leaving. They believed that the kings had supernatural powers
when they died so they would enter the underworld but then use those supernatural
powers and become a
The Importance Of Diversity In Education
Diversity in education is necessary to understand. We live in a society where there are
diverse cultures and varieties. People have been raised in different settings and may not
understand certain things better than others. As an educator, it is important to not let any
students feel left out. It is essential to understand different diverse groups in an
educational environment. There are so many different diverse groups in schools. Some
include students who identify themselves as LGBTQ, children in poverty, and children
with special needs. Specifically, in this essay, autistic and gifted children will be further
described. Autismis a disorder that has increased through time. As an educator, the
chances of getting a child with autism is very likely. Autism now affects 1 in 68 children
and 1 in 42 boys (Facts about Autism, 2012). The official name of autism is autism
spectral disorders. The reason for the name is because there are different problems that
are included in autism. The basic definition of autism consists of children who have a
tough time making out connections within the brain. For example, children with autism
may not make good connections as fast as other children. Some symptoms of autism
include having trouble with the meaning of words, repetitive behavior, unusual
movements, and having a challenging time adjusting to certain things (Walter, 2016).
Many educators usually give extra attention to autistic children to help them stay focused.

Genrich S. Altshuller, who was born in the Soviet Union in 1926 where he developed a
curiosity for problem solving as he worked at his job of helping inventors apply for
invention patents. According to mazur.net (1996), there are several laws in the theory of
TRIZ. One law mentioned is the Law of Increasing Ideality, which means that in the
process of change, either a system performing certain functions becomes less
problematic, or it becomes capable of performing its functions better, or it performs more
Philosophy And Its Importance Of Philosophy
Philosophy and Its Importance Doing philosophy as many philosophers demonstrate over
time and in the present is to simply question the understanding of what is known and not
known or accepted and unaccepted. This is to say, that philosophers must question all
aspects of life and all the surrounding dimensions of the world. In doing so, the
philosopher is trying to grasp a firmer or different understanding of the truththat is either
presently or not presently known; whether comforting or not comforting. One of the
world s most famous and original philosophers Socrates, had a student named Platowho
explains this very concept of philosophyin the Allegory of the Cave when describing
what it would be like for the newly free prisoner to realize the actual true reality in
which the prisoner lives in. [The prisoner would] be pained and dazzled and unable to
see whose shadows [the prisoner had] seen before , but the prisoner would now see
reality more clearly than previously seen before. (Plato) Though the prisoner s
revelation seems to be uncomforting, Plato follows this newly sorrowful seen reality
by asserting that the prisoner s next steps in continuing would be to see the sun, not
images of it in water or some alien place, but the sun itself, in its own place, and be able
to study it. (Plato) The prisoner could now expand on this new realization of reality and
allow this new view to further carry the prisoner to future and further understandings of
reality and its
Why Is Coffee Good For You Essay
Is Coffee good for you. 100% coffee is one of the most popular beverages around the
world today. But let me just first talk about why coffee can be good for you and then
also, why it can be bad for you. For starters, one of the biggest reasons why coffee is
beneficial is because it contains massive amounts of antioxidants. You know, one of the
things that we re exposed to all around the world today is large levels of toxicity. So
antioxidants can really help and slow the aging process, it can help protect yourselves
against free radical damage. Coffee is actually one of the five highest foods in
antioxidants in the world today. So again, coffee, incredible in terms of its antioxidants.

circulation issues or you re trying to support the brain and you don t have autoimmune

moderate amounts can be fine and even good for your health. Now, when you re
consuming coffee, you need to consume it in the morning or before lunch. Because
what happens, if you start drinking it in the afternoon or especially in the evening, the
life of coffee and the caffeine and how long it will affect your body can be around 12
hours. If you re consuming it in the afternoon, it can definitely affect your sleep cycle
that night. Not just you falling asleep, but your overall quality of sleep while you re
trying to sleep that night. So again, is coffee good? Is it bad? The truth is, coffee, it
just really depends on your body. It depends on if you have one of these conditions,
coffee can make it worse. Versus if you re looking for a little bit of a pick me up, you
re going to do it earlier in the day, you need more antioxidants and circulation, for those
reasons, coffee can have some of those major health benefits. And when buying coffee,

Those Who Walk Away From Omelas Utopia Essay
The foundation of a utopian society is centered around hope more than for perfection.
In the short story Those Who Walk Away From Omelas , the author Ursula Le Guin
tells about a society whose joy is provided at the expense of a child locked away in the
basement. Some citizens of Omelas are able to rationalize the need of the imprisoned
child while others choose to walk away from society alone out of guilt. The greatest
hope for the city of Omelas lies within keeping the young boy held in the basement
because it is for the greater good of man.

Out of disgust and disapprovement, they choose to leave behind the society of Omelas
to an unknown place. They leave Omelas, they walk ahead into the darkness, and they
do not come back. The place they go towards is a place even less imaginable to most of
us than the city of happiness. But they seem to know where they are going. (Le Guin, 4).
These people, who escape the guilt of the horrible treatment of the child, are the core of
the utopian society of Omelas. Without them, there would be no desire for betterment,
the key characteristic for a functioning utopian society and Omelas would no longer be
considered a utopia. But, the hope they have for the boy ends with them leaving. There
is no plan mentioned for them to gather and build a new society of better rules or even
to secretly rescue the boy from misery. They are useless to go. Leaving doesn t do
anything to benefit society as a whole; they are only saving themselves from the
overwhelming guilt. In fact, their logic is worse because instead of suffering for their
sake, he is suffering for no reason as they leave. Even if they were to conspire to fight
on behalf of the young boy, it wouldn t help much because the city would fall apart in
his absence and the boy would likely struggle to adapt to the life of an average
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Using Refracting Telescopes
Refraction of light through different media
Light travels in waves through space in straight lines. In a vacuum the speed of light is
3x10вЃёm/s, when light travels through different substances called mediums, it will
change speed depending on the optical density. If light travels through a medium at a
right angle, it s velocity will change but not the direction. However if light enters the
medium at an angle, it s direction and speed will change.
The index of refraction is the ratio of the speed of light in a vacuum to the speed of light
in the medium: n = c / v n = the medium c = the speed of light in a vacuum v = speed of
light in a medium
(The index of refraction does not use any units)
For example, the refractive index of air is 1 and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Refracting telescopes are more reliable because they are permanently fixed which in turn
makes the images produced steadier and clearer
Disadvantages of Refracting telescopes
There are many disadvantages when using refracting telescopes. One of which is
chromatic aberration. Chromatic Aberration happens when light travel through the glass
lens and the different colours that make up white light refract at different angles. This
causes the observer to see a rainbow around the image they are viewing.
One way to counteract the effects of chromatic aberration is to use multiple compensating
lenses. Another way to avoid chromatic aberration is to use a long object focal length this
is the distance between the focus and the objective
Another disadvantage is the difficulty of making the lenses. The objective lens need to
have no imperfections and the shape of the lens is thicker in the center and thunder on
the edges which are the only support_ hoch manes the lens v ey fragile on the edges and
are more susceptible to damage
the largest objective lens for a refracting telescope is only 1 meter in
Humanistic Approach To Psychotherapy
During my earlier years as undergraduate, I recall being very interested in the humanistic
approach to psychotherapy, simply because it was congenial to the person I was at that
time. I was deeply interested in the concepts of free will, self concept, self actualization,
and most importantly, conditions of worth. In addition, when I considered the type of
therapist I would have been the most willing to do therapeutic work with, I tended to
think of a therapist with a humanistic orientation. However, I was quite naГЇve and
discredited the other theoretical orientations.
While taking two upper upper division courses (i.e., Clinical Psychology History and
Systems), I began to get more exposure to other perspectives. As a result, I became more

had also read Cinderellatwo days previous to my activity. The book I worked with is

An unexpected element of their literacy development was evident when a student
pointed out that I forgot to put a period on the end of one of my sentence examples.
This is a high focus in a classroom as well as capitalizing the first letter in a sentence.
This was not the focus of my project but shows the students are successfully developing
in this area because they are noticing it in other content areas. I fluently read the story
stopping to make sure students pointed their story element. I would use inflection when I
reached story element like Fairy Mom to emphasis the key words. This was important to
the reading because not all the elements were exactly the same as most story, for
example fairy godmother was called fairy mom and instead of once upon a time it
reads Once there was a little duck . These slight changes in word choice made it
difficult for the students to pick up on the elements. For the next time, I would
consider explaining this to the students before hand so that they know the exact key
words to be looking for. The main skill I focused on was vocabulary specifically story
elements of fairytales. I printed out the student s the element they were to look with a
picture so that they could see the words and how it is spelled while also relating it to the
picture. Before I began to read, I had the students explain to me what
The Interaction Of Zinc And Iodine In A Balanced Chemical...
We observed the combination reaction between zinc and iodine in a balanced chemical
equation to help us understand the troubles and process of getting a pure product (zinc
iodide). Then we performed the decomposition of zinc iodide by electrolysis. After
observing the properties of the substances we can then confirm whether or not zincand
iodineare present in the original compound. Overall, we set out to prove that the Law
of Conservation of Mass is held true in a balanced reaction. We began this experiment
by obtaining and measuring the mass of a 20 x 150 mm test tube and a 22 x 175 mm
test tube with boiling stones. We then weighed out 2 grams of zinc and iodine. First,
we added the zinc to the 20 x 150 mm and weighed it out. Then we added the iodine to
the 20 x 150 mm and weighed it out. This gave us the amount of each element we were
working with before the reaction. Next, we made weak acidified water by adding 18
drops of acetic acid to 25 mL of distilled water in a 50 mL beaker. Then we added 5 mL
of acidic solution to the 20 x 150 mm test tube. After the solution is added we swirled
the test tube until the liquid became colorless. Once colorless, we poured it into the 22
x 175 mm test tube. We repeated mixing the acid with the zinc and iodine two more
times. Then we repeated it 3 more times but poured the solution down the drain.
Furthermore, we used a bunsen burner to softly dry off the zinc in the 20 x 150 mm test
tube. Once, completely dry we let the test tube
Erving Goffman Identity
Individuals have a series of identities in which they exhibit depending on social cues and
what is expected from an individual s context. During Ellen Wilkinsons lecture, From
Blade Runner to Facebook: Exploring Identity , Erving Goffmans concept of a backstage
and a front stage identity in terms of private and public identitywas introduced. His novel,
The Presentation of Selfin Everyday Life, establishes the idea that an individual s
identity is a performance for their present audience. Goffman states the back region tends
to be defined as all places where the camera is not focused at the moment , providing
theatric imagery as to what the private identity is. When an individual enters the public
eye, their character shifts displaying
Belonging the Crucible, Lord of the Flies and Animal Farm
Without comprehension one cannot fully belong, but with comprehension, belonging
will thrive. If you do not understand someone or their beliefs or someone does not
understand you or your beliefs it is not likely you will feel like you completely belong
with them. In Arthur Millers The Crucible intolerance, hysteria and suspicion, greed (for
wealth, land, power)and corruption of power turns a town against each other and
highlights the different groups in the town and how they are linked or exiled from the
rest of the town and how better understanding of each group could effect this.
In Lord of the Flies by William Golding the different views and beliefs of Ralph and Jack
and the need for power in both boys segregates the group and ... Show more content on

When someone s greed is not controlled it can lead that person down a very destructive
path which is exactly what happened in Salem, with more understanding from the town
this death path or greed could have been stopped by the Salem town s people.
The Witch trials would not have happened if it was not for the corruption of power
Abigail had power over the other girls who were dancing in the woods and she
maintained this power by threatening them
And mark this. Let either of you breathe a word, or the edge of a word about the other
things, and I will come to you in the black of some terrible night and I will bring a
pointy reckoning that will shudder you.
Abigail understands completely the ramifications of being found guilty of witchcraft and
admitted to dancing in the forest but threatens the girls not to tell anyone about her
drinking a potion in order to kill Elizabeth proctor.
Reverend hale corrupts his power unknowingly, as he believes that Abigail and the girls
are telling the truth, his image as a well educated Godly man makes him the perfect
model for the towns people to mold their opinion of the witch trials from.
Let you not mistake your duty as I mistook my own. I came into this village like a
bridegroom to his beloved, bearing gifts of high religion; the very crowns of holy law I
bought, and what I touched with my bright confidence, it died;

  • 2. Haiti Trip Essay Bonjou! I would like to thank you so much for supporting me on my third trip to Haiti! This trip was such an amazing experience and incredible opportunity to serve; it flew by way too fast! It s sad coming to the realization that my trip is over, but also so amazing looking back at all of my pictures! (All 2,421 of them! phew!) I would love to share with you what we did there, and how it turned out completely different and way better than anyone on my team could have imagined. When we arrived in Port au prince Haiti, my whole team and I piled ourselves into three white land cruisers and started off on our six hour journey to Terre Blanche. About an hour into the drive, when the initial photo taking phase was over, the travel weariness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We would wake up around 7:30, eat breakfast, and then head down to the high school to teach english. This is when we really realized that our plans were going to go down the drain. Within the first 15 minutes of teaching english, we were no longer with our planned age group, and were teaching basic english to eighteen to twenty two year olds. We taught until noon, and then headed back to the house for lunch, and four hours of free time. Some of us slept, because of the crazy heat and humidity, and some of us crazy folk went down to the soccer field to play soccer and take pictures (the taking pictures part was me :) After a couple hours of soccer, and jump roping and pictures, we headed back to the house for dinner. During the past couple months of preparation, my team planned a youth revival, but when we got down to the school yard was, we found out that a whole city revival was planned. There were pastors and worship teams from around Haiti that came for the revival. We soon realized that we were definitely not the ones running the show, and that we were just there to dance with the people, and to sit with them! It was almost better this way, because we got to build relationships with people that originally wouldn t have
  • 3. Beyonce Feminist Analysis When Beyonce stood in front of a large LED screen that displayed FEMINIST at the 2014 VMA awards, like minded women everywhere cheered. There stood a celebrity who did not shy away from the word that had become similar to a curse. Very few women were willing to own up to the title of Feminist before Beyonce did. It is, perhaps, a leftover sentiment from the raging second wave of feminism, the so called bra burners who would protest Miss America Pageants. Today, Feminism attempts to speak for a broader definition of women than in the past. In the midst of the second wave of feminism, non white women were still trying to be heard in the feminist movement. In the Combahee River Collective, Black Women state that, The only people who care enough about us to work consistently for are liberation are us. Though truly it is difficult to discuss the history that we are living today, Feminism has tried to embrace both queer feminists and non white feminists, and also feminists who are unafraid to embrace their femininity. Together, they uncovered shared injustices that, for the housewives, transcended from a personal problems to political. For instance, once many women discovered that the housework fell solely on their shoulders and even those whose claimed their husbands helped out could identify the issue of women being assigned a task based on their gender was an issue. Second Wave Feminists began to use Consciousness raising to identify some of the issues they wanted to fight for, such as: reproductive rights, work place equality, and domestic violence awareness and prevention. However, many of these sessions revolved around the white middle class women, which guided feminists goals towards benefitting only one
  • 4. What Happened In Luvungi Summary Background Interestingly, in 2013 Laura Heaton questioned the narrative of violence against women in her article about the mass rape in Luvungi. Dog Whistling has been used for years by politicians to achieve what they want while campaigning for public offices. Politicians have been maneuvering and scheming for years during elections for the peoples vote. They have always put on a show for the people just to receive their vote. They set their sights on an office of public position and they begin a long and hard working race to gain votes. Dog whistling is just a different way for them to use codes or demonstrate to certain people to what they are really trying to say. Politicians portray a good and upright demeanor. It s part of their job. During their campaign for a specific position, they make promises to the people, they put time into well thought out and written speeches, they research every city and the population during the campaign tour and it is all to persuade the vast majority of people for their vote. It deals with race as well. Dog Whistling and racism seem to go hand in hand because it s dealing with race. Racism has been in politics for years. Dog Whistling is just a word used to speak to a certain group of people in code. Racism is still imbedded in us as people because we cannot treat each other equal. Some politicians use Dog Whistling as a way to speak to the mass of racism that is still current in today s society. The author in this book uses Dog Whistle Politics

In doing so, the philosopher is trying to grasp a firmer or different understanding of the truththat is either presently or not presently known; whether comforting or not comforting. One of the world s most famous and original philosophers Socrates, had a student named Platowho explains this very concept of philosophyin the Allegory of the Cave when describing what it would be like for the newly free prisoner to realize the actual true reality in which the prisoner lives in. We observed the combination reaction between zinc and iodine in a balanced chemical equation to help us understand the troubles and process of getting a pure product (zinc iodide). Then we performed the decomposition of zinc iodide by electrolysis. After observing the properties of the substances we can then confirm whether or not zincand iodineare present in the original compound. Overall, we set out to prove that the Law of Conservation of Mass is held true in a balanced reaction. We began this experiment by obtaining and measuring the mass of a 20 x 150 mm test tube and a 22 x 175 mm test tube with boiling stones. We then weighed out 2 grams of zinc and iodine. First, we added the zinc to the 20 x 150 mm and weighed it out. Then we added the iodine to the 20 x 150 mm and weighed it out. This gave us the amount of each element we were working with before the reaction. Next, we made weak acidified water by adding 18 drops of acetic acid to 25 mL of distilled water in a 50 mL beaker. Then we added 5 mL of acidic solution to the 20 x 150 mm test tube. After the solution is added we swirled the test tube until the liquid became colorless. Once colorless, we poured it into the 22 x 175 mm test tube. We repeated mixing the acid with the zinc and iodine two more times. Then we repeated it 3 more times but poured the solution down the drain. Furthermore, we used a bunsen burner to softly dry off the zinc in the 20 x 150 mm test tube.
