A DNA library is a collection of DNA fragments cloned into vectors that together represent the entire genome of an organism. There are two main types of libraries: genomic DNA libraries, which contain all the organism's DNA including coding and non-coding regions, and cDNA libraries, which contain only the expressed coding regions. To create a library, DNA is extracted from cells, cut into fragments, and inserted into vectors which are then introduced into host cells. This allows amplification and isolation of specific clones for analysis.
