This document describes the design of a vertical curve or "sag curve" using a parabolic equation. It provides the process for determining the stationing and elevation of key points on the curve including the PVC, PVI, PVT, and lowest point. As an example, it analyzes a 500m equal tangent sag curve with an initial grade of -4% and final grade of +2%, finding the PVI at station 105+00 at an elevation of 980m, the PVT at 110+00 with an elevation of 990m, and the lowest point at 106+70m with an elevation of 986.6m.
