CAUSES OF DERMATITIS
ODermatitis is a common skin
condition caused by inflammation of
the skin reacting to food allergens or
irritants or by other causes
TYPES OF DERMATITIS
OThere are 5 types of dermatitis:
1)Atopic dermatitis
2)Neurodermatitis
3)Statis dermatitis
4)Seborrheic dermatitis
5)Perioral dermatitis
ATOPIC DERMATITIS
O This form of dermatitis occurs when
the body is hypersensitive to certain
foods, allergens or environmental
factors.
NEURODERMATITIS
OThis condition is caused by nerve
endings underneath the skin that
have become irritated
STASIS DERMATITIS
OStasis dermatitis occurs when
varicose veins interrupt the venous
flow from the legs back to the heart.
SEBORRHEIC DERMATITIS
O This condition affects skin areas with
sebaceous glands and typically occurs
across the face, nose, and inside of the
ears. Other skin areas affected include
the back, neck and chest.
PERIORAL DERMATITIS
OThis is a condition that mainly
affects women and refers to the
development of a rash around the
mouth formed of tiny raised, red
bumps
HOW YOU GET IT
OSoap, shampoo, food, perfums and
water are mild irritants .With lots of
exposure these can cause irritant
conact dermatitis
SYMPTOMS
O The most frecuent symtoms of the atopic
dermatitis are the eruptions in the skin and
the itchness, it can be inflamated and secret
liquid with the scratching.
O In adult dermatitis of the the symptoms is dry
and hard skin.

TREATMENT
OThe firts step of treating dermatitis is to
indentify the type of dermatitis you
have .
OThe doctors usually recommend a
corticosteroid, a lotion and might give
you an oral treatment.
PREVENTION
O Children who are breast-fed until age 4
months may be less likely to get atopic
dermatitis.
O If a child is not breast-fed, using a formula
that contains processed cow milk protein
(called partially hydrolyzed formula) may
cut down on the chances of developing
atopic dermatitis.
