Movie And Film Version Of To Kill A Mockingbird
The film version of To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), which stars Gregory Peck as Atticus and Mary
Badham as Scout, is as much a classic as the novel itself. (The film received eight Academy Awards
nominations and netted awards for Best Actor, Best Screenplay Based on Material from Another
Medium, and Best Art Direction Set Decoration, Black and White.)
Ideally, a novel and its film version complement each other, which, on many levels, is the case with To
Kill a Mockingbird. However, film can accomplish things that novels can t, and vice versa. Likewise,
film has limitations that a novel doesn t. This essay explores some of the differences between To Kill a
Mockingbird, the film and the novel.
Narration
By its nature, film is a visual medium, which makes a first person story difficult to tell. To have Scout
narrating throughout the film as she does in the book would prove distracting, so Scout as narrator is
only presented to set the mood of a scene in the film. As a result, viewers don t get a strong sense of
Scout s first person narration as they do in the book; instead, they simply notice the childlike
perspective portrayed in the story. (The film uses music to help reinforce the child s point of view. The
music is very elementary, and much of the score is composed of single notes without chords or
embellishments.)
Because the narration is not as straightforward in the film, the film seems to shift more to Jem s
experiences. For example, Jem finds all the articles in

Criminal Punishment And The Criminal Justice System
Few decisions in the criminal justice system apply as much influence over the life, liberty and the
pursuit of happiness of criminal offenders as the final sentencing decision. Judges have an extensive
range of sentencing options. These options range from fines, restitution, and probation to incarceration
in jail or prison. For much of the 20th century, criminal sentencing practices remained largely
unchanged in the United States. Over the past few decades, we have witnessed a practical revolution
in criminal punishment processes. A number of different sentencing reforms have been recently
expanded, resulting in a mix of different legal approaches to sentencing in the United States today. I
will begin with a brief overview of sentencing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lastly, rehabilitation is a philosophy of punishment that stresses individual offender reform.
According to this perception, the purpose of this punishment should be to address the fundamental
causes of crime in order to reduce future offending. In practice, these various sentencing foundations
often coincide, throughout history major changes in sentencing have often followed model changes in
major philosophies of punishment.
During colonial times, criminal sentencing in America was initially based on retribution and then later
on deterrence (Walker, 1998). By the late 1800s, however, sentencing in America had become
carefully conquered by rehabilitation. The goal of criminal punishment was to reform the offender by
shifting the basic causes of crime. In order to accomplish this, criminal sentences had to be necessarily
flexible to be separately reformed to the sole needs of particular offenders. This led to a system of
punishment known as indeterminate sentencing. Sentences often consisted of wide ranges of minimum
and maximum terms that could spring from a single day to a lifetime in prison. These far reaching
sentences provided maximum flexibility for determining when an offender was therefore ready to be
released back into society.
Judges would determine the ranges of punishment, and then release their decisions to be made by
prison authorities or parole boards. Such authorities would exercise considerable discretion in

Why Did Australian People Rush To Enlist In 1914 To 1914
Historical Essay Why did Australian men rush to enlist in 1914/1915? During the early war period,
there was a rush of Australian men enlisting to defend their mother country. The inherent sense of
pride and patriotism that pervades Australian culture today was part of the driving force behind these
men s intentions. The First World War was propagated as an opportunity to seek adventure and see
new exotic places, all the while defending their country. Peer pressure played a major role in inspiring
these young men to enlist as they were told to do their nation proud . Conclusively, there were a
variety of factors contributing to a young man s urge to enlist but the hastened timeframe and
imminent call to adventure caused the rush of people to enlist between 1914 to 1915. At the start of
World War 1, Australia was a nation of around four million people. This meant that there was a
potential pool of around 820,000 men of fighting age (between 19 and 38). With a total enlistment of
420,000 men in service for World War 1, the total population of Australia between 1914 and 1918 was
4.9 million. Australian nationalism and pride was very importunate at the time causing a huge amount
of men rushed to enlist in World War 1. Australian men viewed themselves as tough pioneers and the
Australian sense of self was bloated by events such as the occupation of indigenous land, the gold rush
and the exploration of Australian land. Amongst the pride of national identity, peer

Courts 2 Billion Buck IT Bust
Introduction
The statewide information technology system was planned to provide data sharing, cut costs and
improve public access to court records and data but faced significant challenges due to poor project
management. There was a conflict on whether to continue with the unfinished project. This report
highlighted some fundamentals of project management that was not properly done and some
determined ways they could use to overcome them if they want to. (Grimes, 2001).
According to Doctor Talley slide on Project management and also in line with Jack Meredith Samuel

techniques to project activities to meet the project ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The primary purpose of planning, is to establish a set of directions in sufficient detail to tell the project
team exactly what must be done, when it must be done, what resources will be required to produce the
deliverables of the project, successfully, and when each resource will be needed (Jack R .Meredith
Samuel j. Mantel, 2009). Budgeting and cost estimating are important tools when doing a project plan.
A budget is always needed in the plan. A budget is a plan for allocating resources. Thus, according to
Jack R Meredith the act of budgeting is the allocation of scarce resources to the various endeavors of
an organization. (Jack R .Meredith Samuel j. Mantel, 2009)
Problem
According to the article the issues that caused the challenges the Court case system management
project had was poor planning, poor budgeting. The cost of the Court Management System (CCMS)
increased from the original Estimate of $260 in 2004 to a staggering $1.9 billion in 2010, and will cost
an additional $79 million a year to maintain (Grimes, 2001). It was also noted in the article that AOC

Bacterial Communities Associated With Organic And...
Bacterial Communities Associated with Organic and Conventionally Grown Red Delicious Apples
Overview
Many studies have been done pertaining to ways to remove different types of bacteria from the fresh
fruits and vegetables that are commonly consumed. Currently there is little research available that
maps the types of bacteria commonly found on fruits and vegetables (Leff and Fierer 2013). Many
different standards have been set forth to measure produce quality with some of these standards
including a count of the coliforms, Escherichia coli, and the aerobic bacteria count (Wood et. al). This
study aims to compare the number of coliforms found on organic vs. conventionally grown Malus
pumila before and after washing with distilled water. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the biggest areas of this demand is in the produce department (Mukherjee et.al 2006).
Statically during this same time frame there has been an increase in foodborne illness stemming from
fresh produce. From the 1970s to 2006 the percentage of foodborne illness caused by fresh fruits and
vegetables went from 6% to 12% (Mukherjee et.al 2006). Due to these increased percentages of
foodborne illness, and data supporting more coliform bacterial colonies present on organic produce
than the conventional counter parts researchers are beginning to speculate that organic produce has a
higher risk to people s health then the conventional counterparts (Mukherjee et.al 2006).
There is still very little previous research comparing the microbial colonies found on organic vs
conventional produce to fully assess the possible increased health risks of organic produce. Another
area of lacking data that adds to the confusion is in the United States the number of foodborne illness
outbreaks have not been documented based on organic vs conventional produce (Mukherjee et.al
2004). In order to help control foodborne illness outbreaks an in depth understanding of the bacteria
commonly found on the produce needs to be known. If a core taxa of bacteria was known there could
be a comprehensive method of testing produce for any bacteria that is not typically found to be
present. Thanks to next generation sequencing of 16S rRNA amplicon a more comprehensive list can

Argumentative Essay On The White Cube
The purpose of this essay is to examine the controversial topic of the white cube and how the artists
try to go over this fixed model. The first part of the essay is focused on the description of the model of
the white cube and how it starts to be the ideally model for the art exhibition. Far away from the
previous conception of the exhibition where the Salon Model was predominant. Nevertheless it starts
to be clear that this model is not perfect: directly connected with the business of the art and the art

15% from partners and other sources. In Nigeria, institutional investors are reluctant to invest in
private equity. A large reason for this is might be lack of familiarity with the private equity asset class.
In the short term, Nigeria may see increased commitments from US and European government and aid

Schools are focusing too much on the label SEN, rather than meeting the needs of the children. This is
seen through current statements outlining the child s SEN and the provision that is currently in place,
but it does not take into account any focus on life outcomes for the child. Young people leave school
without the support that has been in place throughout their schooling education, which causes many
children with SEN to not succeed in adulthood. We want children and young people with special

who are suffering from Muscular Dysmorphia often resort to hazardous ways to gain more muscle,
such as over exercising unhealthy amounts and steroids. Treatment for Muscular Dysmorphia

I could feel the stream tugging at my feet and pulling me close to the edge. The smell of the sea can be

sounds of the waves crashing on the shore miles away helped me relax. The problem is the only way
down is to jump. That feeling I get when my stomach drops is one of my favorite; or the thrill of doing
something crazy. My mom told me we were driving on the road to Hana, and I knew I had to find
something exciting. Luckily for us we came upon a pool with a beaming waterfall pouring into it. The
forest was full of life and lush trees. It looked like a painting or something out of a dream. Everything
was perfect about this place. Walking onto the top of the waterfall I knew this had to be the place I
was telling myself to jump but my legs wouldn t move. Stuck there I knew I was terrified. The entire
time I was telling myself I was brave enough to jump, but in reality my mind was buzzing with

It is clear that Coca Cola leads the competition in terms of quality and popularity with competition
from both direct and indirect companies such as Pepsi who are their main competitors but indirect

Nikolai Bukharin Was A Man Deeply Devoted To The Soviet
Nikolai Bukharin was a man deeply devoted to the Soviet cause and the spread and success of
Communism. He entered the political scene at the age young of 16, still a student himself, and was
once described by Lenin as being the golden boy of the revolution (Gregory 2010). Unfortunately,
Bukharin could not know that his political goals and desires would be his downfall and the cause of
his execution on March 14th 1938, betrayed by a man he once considered a friend, Joseph Stalin.
Reduced to just one of the 328,618 victims during 1938 as part of Stalin s Great Terror (Kuromiya
2007,713). In final months of his imprisonment, and life, he wrote many letters to Stalin. Notably , in

Ultimately though this would contribute to Stalin s persecution of him. As in 1928 Stalin flipped on
his opinion of the NEP, instead pushing his own Five Year Plan. Which forcefully created the kolkhoz
collective farms, in hopes of rapid industrialization that would bring Russia to the same levels as other
developed, Capitalist nations, regardless of the cost of human lives. This plan was highly successful in
eliminating the wealthy peasants known as the kulaks, thus further cementing Stalin s control over the
Soviet state (Gregory 2010).
After Lenin s death in 1924, Bukharin allied himself with Stalin with his Socialism in One Country,
which moved away from the idea of Global Communism that Bukharin and the rest of the communist
party had previously supported and endorsed, as they believed communism needed to be done in a
more developed nation. Instead it proposed that socialism could be created even in an undeveloped
country, and that Russia could and ultimately should focus on building socialism within itself. This
idea would become a key of Stalin s political beliefs and actions. By helping to support and promote
this idea Bukharin aided Stalin in removing other key Bolsheviks from power, such as Trotsky, once
again increasing Stalin s power.
Bukharin, while regarded as a strong theorist for Marxism, and generally a likable man, also had a
reputation for being soft. Moreover and increasingly dangerous a man who known to speak without

Not Just A Love Story
Not just a love story meant for children, the Pixar movie Wall e it is a vision of the hard reality this

an earnest (though far from simplistic) ecological parable. Showing that there is more than just the
love story between Wall e and Eva that should be focused on when watching the movie. Just as in life,
there are far more important things that needed to be focused on throughout everyday life. In the
Merriam Webster dictionary, they define parable as, a short story that teaches a moral or spiritual
lesson . The movie, Wall e, portrays the consumer behavior and focuses on the attention of humans to
not focus on the problems at hand and to turn away from what is actually going on. In the movie, the
ecological parable is the story showing the link among the organisms and the environment. The Pixar
movie Wall e is deserving of the definition of an earnest ecological parable, through generational
entitlement, consumerism, and lack of sustainability. With the world changing, and generations
growing and trying to learn from the past, Generation Y has proven to have an entitled attitude

People post some disgusting essays to Facebook or vent to their friends about white privilege, calling
for a conversation on race. Even when Venus Williams and Serena Williams are on the tennis court, or
Zinedine Zidane is on the soccer field, they may be looked down upon by many white people because
of their black blood. The irony is that when they won the champion or led the team to win, people
started to flaunt their nationalities, saying, She or he is one of our country. That certainly would be
ironic, wouldn t it? They can feel grief and sad just like everybody, after all! There are so many people
who scorn black people from the bottom of their hearts, they carry out intentional offensives to the
black all the time, in words and actions. Sometimes even if part of us don t harm them deliberately,
and some of those encounters are mild and insignificant, what we do seem to be just a casual move, it
also expresses the most truest neglect of people s heart. Thus, black ones bear too much stress, they
begin to dare not to appear in public, they have lost the ability to talk and communicate with others,
some of them even lose the courage to live in the world. Because of the white man s disgust, their life
has a lot of bad. And then it s their resistance, some people may hate the society extremely and
revenge on the society, which brings social unrest. Therefore, from all aspects, black people should

The Historical Values Of Ubuntu
The argument here that exists is that Ubuntu has no historic significance or cultural value. Its source
and origin cannot be identified as it is still believed to be a discourse that was just invented for the
sake of it. This is why many critics have gone to great lengths to comment that this terminology is
empty and does not have any concrete relevance or even origination and should be discarded instead
of being commercialized or made popular. The societies that practiced Ubuntu cannot be found either
which further weaken the position of this term and its emergence as a value.
However, I believe that Ubuntu should not be discarded only because it has no historic value or origin
because even without these fundamental aspects the term and concept has emerged as a universal

This can be seen by the fact that humanism believes staunchly in predestination and that the fate of a
person is sealed which cannot be changed in the course of a lifetime. Whereas, the Muslim phase of
humanism provides a more logical approach which suggests that the concept of predestination does
exist but it can be changed through efforts. This approach is not only more logical but also more
rational in terms of its existence. It has been said by the Muslim phase of humanism that men are
distinct creatures, separate from the rest of Creation, due to the fact that God gave them an effective
power (Qudra), once and for all time, by which they can choose to act freely . This shows that the
concept of humanism is flawed and man has power over their actions because of which their fate
could possibly not be predetermined. Their destination lies in the path that they choose after rational

Sanger Sequencing Essay
Sanger Sequencing was introduced in 1977 by Frederick Sanger and has been extensively used for at
least 35 years (10,11). Even now, it is still frequently used for small scale sequencing work. No
breakthrough of whole genome sequencing techniques was made until the launches of Roche 454
GS20 (12) and ABI SOLID (13) in the mid 2000. Soon after that, Ion Torrent (14), PacBio (15) and
Illumina (16) platforms have been introduced and quickly occupied the market of genomic
sequencing. Not until recently, the third generation sequencing, such as the nanopore (17), has been
commercialized and initially tested. A timeline of the development of DNA sequencing platforms was
described in Figure 1.
2.1 Illumina
Illumina sequencing platform launches later than the other competitors but quickly dominate the next
generation sequencing market. By using the Sequencing by Synthesis (SBS) technology, millions of
base pairs of the whole genome sequence could be finished in a couple of hours.
The NGS sequencing in Illumina instrument is divided into four major steps: Library preparation; ...

Through Deaf Eyes Review Essay
In Through Deaf Eyes you will find a range of perspective on the question what is deafness? This film
is a balanced presentation of deaf experience. I believe that the film does a good job of revealing the
struggles and triumphs of deaf people in society throughout history. The documentary covers a span of
close to 200 years of deaf life in the United States. You will see experiences among deaf people in
education, family life, work, and social activities. Sign language is language that uses visual hand
patterns to convey a meaning without using any vocal. It truly is a superb way of communication,
although it was not always accepted in society. Wherever communities of deaf people exist, sign
language develops. There was no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I wasn t expecting that. After viewing the movie I understand better now why even if some deaf
people can use their voices, they don t because it seems like it would lead to a one way conversation.
Although the hearing person would understand what the deaf person was conveying, the deaf person
would not be able to understand the hearing person without lip reading or using sign language. I
laughed at the part of the movie where the deaf comedian was talking about an incident that he had
while driving a car. A man was aggressively driving and beeping at the deaf man driving his car. When
this man passed the deaf man, he said, What are you deaf? The deaf man who spoke and signed telling
the story said he drove up to him and said, Yes, I am deaf! Although I laughed, it is offensive to the
deaf individuals using the word deaf in such a negative way. People who are hard of hearing are
people and should be esteemed as such. Deaf people living in a hearing world have certainly made
their mark in the hearing community. Deaf people can do anything that hearing people can do. The
band shown in the film called Beethoven s Nightmare caused quite a stir in our class. I think that we
were simply amazed that deaf musicians could play so well. By showing the audience this experience,
it provides hearing viewers with the knowledge that this type of event does occur within the deaf
community and that the deaf can appreciate

Contributions Of The Italian Renaissance
The Renaissance was a time of rebirth and a transition from the medieval time to the Early Modern
World. It emphasized human beings, their achievements, interests, and capabilities. This time period
was a gateway to the modern world and was essential for the improvement of human life. At the time
there were two main Renaissances, the Northern, and the Italian. The Italian Renaissance took place
from the 1400s to the 1700s, just after the plague spread through. One of the major reasons why the
Renaissance started in Italy was because of how fast the plague got through and spread throughout the
rest of Europe. The Northern Renaissance took place from the 1400s to the 1600s, because the ideas
from Italy spread to and then throughout Europe. Location was a key factor in where the rebirth would
take place. The Italian Renaissance took place in Florence, Italy. Florence had been the center of the
Roman Empire, which encouraged the rebirth to happen in a rapid pace. Another reason why the
Italian Renaissance took place in Florence was because of it s location along the Mediterranean Sea,
which aided trade and cultural diffusion. The Northern Renaissance took place in Flanders. Flanders
had sufficient amount of trade, but also an immense economic growth that caused the North to start a
renaissance of their own.
The Renaissance encouraged many advances in science, technology, art, literature, mathematics and
much more. In Italy the art was enhanced to look more realistic and

Beloved Research Paper
Beloved is a well known and powerful novel by Toni Morrison. It possesses many themes that reflect
the effects that slavery had on African Americans. Morrison s novel also displays slavery told in the
third person as someone up close observing the effects, as well as taking up into the minds of the
characters. This paper will address how slavery has played a part in the book and it s terrible effects on
people who have been through it.
Before I really get into my point I will give background on the book. Beloved has four main characters
that are models to the themes in the novel. Sethe is the protagonist and mother in the novel. She
struggles with her identity and painful memories from her life of slavery. Paul D, also a former slave,
struggles with his feelings and not revealing or becoming too attached to people in order to protect
himself. Paul D and Sethe will be the ones that I am focusing on in this paper. Denver, Sethe s
daughter, is a young girl who is influenced by her mother s traumatic past and is isolated from society.
Finally, Beloved, whom the story is centered around, is the young girl they find near a tree in the
woods. Beloved s features are striking and baby like which draws the other characters to her. Sethe
especially is attracted to Beloved because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Hansen s Disease
Hansen s Disease and its Effects on the Homeostasis of Organ Systems
Hansen s disease, more commonly known as leprosy, is a chronic infectious disease that affects the
skin and peripheral nerves, and to a lesser extent, the respiratory and muscular systems of the body
(niaid/nih.giov/diseases conditions/leprosy hansens disease). It is caused by an infection by the
bacillus Mycobacterium leprae. It was discovered by Dr. Gerhard H.A. Hansen of Norway in 1873.
Soon, the disease leprosy became known as Hansen s disease in honor of his discovery. The disease is
spread through prolonged, close contact with someone with untreated leprosy over many months
(cdc.gov). It is important to note that one cannot become infected through casual contact ... Show

The muscular system, in conjunction with the skeletal system, is responsible for movement of the
body among other things (VanPutte, 270). The ability of the human body to move has been critical in
the survival of the species over the years for example; escaping from predators is only possible with
skeletal muscle contraction. Hansen s disease generally only affects the peripheral nerves of the
extremities, not the locations of the larger muscle groups; however the smaller muscles of the hands
and feet are vital for the well being of individuals. For example, it would be quite difficult to feed
oneself without the use of hands. Unfortunately, extreme cases of Hansen s disease cause paralysis of
the individual s hands and feet. Paralysis occurs due to deadening of the peripheral nerves, both
sensory and motor. As the afferent neurons lose the ability to receive and send stimuli, the nerve
impulses (action potentials) are sent to the central nervous system less and less often. Even so, the
action potentials that are transmitted to the CNS still are unlikely to stimulate the skeletal muscles for
contraction. This is because the efferent peripheral neurons of the hands and feet are damaged as well.
In effect, the sensory nerves of the extremities cannot receive much stimuli, and the motor neurons are
also less able to start the action potentials in the skeletal muscle

Hurricane Intensity
In all of the models and predictions of future hurricane activity examined, the influence of rainpower
on hurricane intensity was never mentioned or considered. Although the ways in which rain might
affect future hurricane intensity are not well understood and there have been very few studies
conducted on the subject, it is a factor that should be considered in future models and forecasts for the
future of hurricane intensity because of its large influence on hurricane intensity. The effect of
rainpower is actually a negative feedback loop, as increased sea surface temperatures cause more
water vapour, which leads to more rain, and consequently lessens hurricane intensity. Sabuwala et al

that we could only encrypt up to 32 bit, and now we can encrypt up to 128 bit which makes it slightly
impossible to decrypt unless you have almost all of your life to spend on solving it. But soon hackers

The Technology Behind A Computer
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE When I realized that the technology behind a computer s operation
could be used to solve a myriad of problems my interest in the field went far beyond browsing the net
or playing computer games. My interest was further piqued by my elder sister who explained the
intricacies involved in the projects she worked on during her Masters in Computer Application. After
that, assured of her guidance, I opted for C++ as an elective in high school, and went on to enjoy the
experience of successfully writing programs for computing Fibonacci series, drawing Pascal triangle,
and completing my first project, Hangman Game. My inclination towards languages, creative streak,
and analytical approach led me to believe that Computer Engineering would be a logical
amalgamation of my abilities and interests. During my four year undergraduate course, the curriculum
opened the doors to a treasure house of knowledge, and I found myself enticed by courses on Data
Structures, Algorithms, and Object Oriented Programming. Also, being confronted by many
algorithmic challenges during lectures and through my participation in coding, I realized the impact
that a few lines of code could have in making our daily life smoother, and in helping us to manage our
time and tasks in an efficient way. Interested in continuing my exploration of the application of
Computer Science to solving problems, I set about creating a strong foundation in academics by

Suspenseful Themes In The Hunger Games, By Suzanne Collins
There are books about mighty and brave people that do daring things. There are also books about
intelligent people who do incredible things. The Science Fiction trilogy, The Hunger Games, by
Suzanne Collins, combines these themes to create a suspenseful book that is not only interesting, but
is fun to read. This book contains many moments where the main character, Katniss Everdeen, showed
immense bravery and intelligence. One of the bravest things Katniss did came during the start of the
book in chapter 2. The annual reaping is a time of sorrow and apprehensiveness. Two children
between the age of 12 18, one male, one female, will be selected to enter the annual hunger games.

Robert Cormier introduces us to many characters that personify evil in order to try to control and

at the pornographic magazine, he is now beginning to want to know and understand the processes of
adolescent and adulthood. So he buys a magazine with the curiosity of what kind of satisfaction the
other kids were receiving by glaring at the images in the magazines. He is in that stage of wanting to

beaten up by the bully. Which proved to be correct when Emile Janza, the school s bully begins to
pick on him. Although Emile was the school s bully he too, respected the Vigils to a certain extent.
Archie was also a bully, but he bullied the minds of the other kids. He did not resort to physical abuse
but he indeed psychologically bullied people including Emile Janza.
Fear also played a factor throughout this story. Fear is what made the Goober go into Brother Eugene s
room and loosen all of the screws from the furniture. This brings us back to the psychological bullying
of Archie, because the Goober was mentally sick when he found out that the actions of his assignment
had made Brother Eugene sick. The other students were also frightened by the Vigils so they to carried
out any assignments that they were given. This story is written with a lot of hidden symbols and
meanings within the events that occur. Jerry also feared the Vigils at first but as the story

The Industrialization Of Rural Ireland In The 1940s And 1950s
Rural Ireland of the 1940s and 1950s was a very quiet, tranquil and peaceful region. It was very
agriculturally orientated and it was the main source of employment in this region (Wickham, 1980).
Rural Ireland was very poor and many residents had emigrated in search of work. During these
decades the Irish government used protectionist policies which created a community ideology
amongst Irish citizens (Wickham, 1980). The citizens felt a sense of control over their state. Let s now
fast forward in time and stop 20 years into the future. The region is now 1970 and Rural Ireland was

The Irish government took a huge risk by saying goodbye to the protectionist policies that had been in
place in the country for many years. Deciding to view the world as a market was a risk, considering it
went against the policies that led Irish people to believe they had a fraction of control over the state.
The risk paid off, with the government attracting Transnational Corporations into the rural regions of
Ireland through incentives and grants. The industrialization of Rural Ireland transformed Rural
Society. Rural Ireland, once a region occupied by agricultural enterprises, now became the home of
many manufacturing factories and the region had slowly begun to urbanize due to the increase in
Transnational Corporations in the region. Although there was conflict along the way, as can be seen by
the conflict that emerged due to a fear of pollution, this industrialization transformed the life of the

Wealth Management Is The Process Of Meeting The Needs Essay
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT WEALTH MANAGEMENT Wealth management is the
process of meeting the needs and wants of affluent clients by providing financial products and service.
Since ancient Roman senators hired financial advisers to lend out their money, people with wealth
have needed someone to manage it. High net worth individuals thus call upon wealth managers to help
them develop strategies of how to effectively manage their wealth. The term wealth management
started in 1933 and came into more use in the private client divisions of firms like Goldman Sachs and
Morgan Stanley. These firms formed divisions which were designed to deliver different services from
those offered to the mass market. Wealth managers provide clients with a wide range of services,
depending on the client s needs and the focus of the firm. Tax accounting: Financial advisors help
clients handle, complete and submit their taxes. Financial planning: Financial advisors provide advice
on how to reach future life and financial goals by providing information about investing, saving, taxes
and estate planning. Investing: Clients who want to invest seek the services of wealth managers for
professional advice. Insurance Services: Many financial advisors include insurance products in their
package of money management services. Money and wealth management: This provides management
of the client s finances, including selection of securities and completes financial management. Wealth

Philosophy of Behaviorism
Philosophy of Behaviorism
Tammie Williams
Columbia College
Abstract
For hundreds of years there has been a fascination on how humans behave and how humans learn.
This has been observed and studied by psychologists, educators, and scientists by means of humans
and animals and how they perform in different environments. This fascination is known as
behaviorism. This aspect of behaviorism deals with how a humans or animals respond to a certain
stimuli and how a new behavior is then developed. This paper will address the philosophy of
behaviorism, the great contributors to behaviorism and their aspects of behavioral learning such as
classical conditioning and operant conditioning.

Psychoanalysis is a school of thought that was founded by Sigmund Freud. This theory focuses on that
behavior is influenced by the unconscious mind. Freud felt that the human mind was made up of three
elements which include the id, the ego, and the superego. Eric Erikson, Carl Jung, and Anna Freud
were also psychoanalysis thinkers. Humanistic psychology was developed as a response to
behaviorism and psychoanalysis. Individual free will, self actualization and personal growth were
focused on by humanistic psychology. Carl Rogers and Abraham Maslow were amongst the major
humanistic psychology thinkers. Gestalt psychology is based upon that people experience things as
unified wholes. This approach started in the late 19th century in Austria and Germany. This approach
was a response to molecular approach of structuralism (Cherry, 2005). Gestalt psychologists felt
things must be looked at as a whole rather than breaking the thought down. They believed that a whole
is more than just the sum of its parts. Cognitive psychology is a school of thought which studies the
mental process including how we remember, think, perceive, and learn. Philosophy, neuroscience, and
linguistics are disciplines that are related to this branch of psychology. The stages of cognitive
development theory by Jean Piaget were amongst the most influential theories from cognitive

The Formation Of Social Policy
Aaminah Shabbir The Formation of Social Policy
In this essay, I will be discussing how Conservatism and Socialism ideologies shape social policy in
the UK. I will also be arguing that despite the United Kingdom being a democratic society, it is falling
below democratic standards. At present, social media is one of the most powerful tools in shaping
people s perceptions on political ideologies, and therefore will be evaluating the extent it plays on
policies as well as social conscience. The United Kingdom has two main political parties, the
Conservative party and the Labour party. Although the political system in the UK has always been a
multiparty system, ultimately it is either of these parties which shape policies in Britain. They have
several differences on many key issues and principles. On the political spectrum, the labour party
belongs to the centre left of the centre with socialistic ideology whereas the Conservative party sits at
the centre right of the political spectrum with their primary philosophies of British unionism,
Euroscepticism, Conservatism and Economic Liberalism. The Conservatism ideology stands firmly
against the ideals of Liberalism and Socialism. The labour party (left wing) aim to support people who
are unable to support themselves and believe in equality. Conservative party (right wing) value equity,
economic freedom and freedom to succeed. Right wing people

rotate small objects using high amplitude sound waves. They are now able to use the tractor beam to
manipulate small objects of about 4 mm in diameter without touching them, according to the
Hindustan Times. Asier Marzo, who is from the Univeristy of Bristol in Britain and the Public
University of Navarre in Spain, explained that they used ultrasound with a frequence of 40 kilohertz to
move the object because sound waves are able to exert foce on objects.

  • 2. Movie And Film Version Of To Kill A Mockingbird The film version of To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), which stars Gregory Peck as Atticus and Mary Badham as Scout, is as much a classic as the novel itself. (The film received eight Academy Awards nominations and netted awards for Best Actor, Best Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium, and Best Art Direction Set Decoration, Black and White.) Ideally, a novel and its film version complement each other, which, on many levels, is the case with To Kill a Mockingbird. However, film can accomplish things that novels can t, and vice versa. Likewise, film has limitations that a novel doesn t. This essay explores some of the differences between To Kill a Mockingbird, the film and the novel. Narration By its nature, film is a visual medium, which makes a first person story difficult to tell. To have Scout narrating throughout the film as she does in the book would prove distracting, so Scout as narrator is only presented to set the mood of a scene in the film. As a result, viewers don t get a strong sense of Scout s first person narration as they do in the book; instead, they simply notice the childlike perspective portrayed in the story. (The film uses music to help reinforce the child s point of view. The music is very elementary, and much of the score is composed of single notes without chords or embellishments.) Because the narration is not as straightforward in the film, the film seems to shift more to Jem s experiences. For example, Jem finds all the articles in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Criminal Punishment And The Criminal Justice System Few decisions in the criminal justice system apply as much influence over the life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness of criminal offenders as the final sentencing decision. Judges have an extensive range of sentencing options. These options range from fines, restitution, and probation to incarceration in jail or prison. For much of the 20th century, criminal sentencing practices remained largely unchanged in the United States. Over the past few decades, we have witnessed a practical revolution in criminal punishment processes. A number of different sentencing reforms have been recently expanded, resulting in a mix of different legal approaches to sentencing in the United States today. I will begin with a brief overview of sentencing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lastly, rehabilitation is a philosophy of punishment that stresses individual offender reform. According to this perception, the purpose of this punishment should be to address the fundamental causes of crime in order to reduce future offending. In practice, these various sentencing foundations often coincide, throughout history major changes in sentencing have often followed model changes in major philosophies of punishment. During colonial times, criminal sentencing in America was initially based on retribution and then later on deterrence (Walker, 1998). By the late 1800s, however, sentencing in America had become carefully conquered by rehabilitation. The goal of criminal punishment was to reform the offender by shifting the basic causes of crime. In order to accomplish this, criminal sentences had to be necessarily flexible to be separately reformed to the sole needs of particular offenders. This led to a system of punishment known as indeterminate sentencing. Sentences often consisted of wide ranges of minimum and maximum terms that could spring from a single day to a lifetime in prison. These far reaching sentences provided maximum flexibility for determining when an offender was therefore ready to be released back into society. Judges would determine the ranges of punishment, and then release their decisions to be made by prison authorities or parole boards. Such authorities would exercise considerable discretion in ... • 4. Why Did Australian People Rush To Enlist In 1914 To 1914 Historical Essay Why did Australian men rush to enlist in 1914/1915? During the early war period, there was a rush of Australian men enlisting to defend their mother country. The inherent sense of pride and patriotism that pervades Australian culture today was part of the driving force behind these men s intentions. The First World War was propagated as an opportunity to seek adventure and see new exotic places, all the while defending their country. Peer pressure played a major role in inspiring these young men to enlist as they were told to do their nation proud . Conclusively, there were a variety of factors contributing to a young man s urge to enlist but the hastened timeframe and imminent call to adventure caused the rush of people to enlist between 1914 to 1915. At the start of World War 1, Australia was a nation of around four million people. This meant that there was a potential pool of around 820,000 men of fighting age (between 19 and 38). With a total enlistment of 420,000 men in service for World War 1, the total population of Australia between 1914 and 1918 was 4.9 million. Australian nationalism and pride was very importunate at the time causing a huge amount of men rushed to enlist in World War 1. Australian men viewed themselves as tough pioneers and the Australian sense of self was bloated by events such as the occupation of indigenous land, the gold rush and the exploration of Australian land. Amongst the pride of national identity, peer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Statically during this same time frame there has been an increase in foodborne illness stemming from fresh produce. From the 1970s to 2006 the percentage of foodborne illness caused by fresh fruits and vegetables went from 6% to 12% (Mukherjee et.al 2006). Due to these increased percentages of foodborne illness, and data supporting more coliform bacterial colonies present on organic produce than the conventional counter parts researchers are beginning to speculate that organic produce has a higher risk to people s health then the conventional counterparts (Mukherjee et.al 2006). There is still very little previous research comparing the microbial colonies found on organic vs conventional produce to fully assess the possible increased health risks of organic produce. Another area of lacking data that adds to the confusion is in the United States the number of foodborne illness outbreaks have not been documented based on organic vs conventional produce (Mukherjee et.al 2004). In order to help control foodborne illness outbreaks an in depth understanding of the bacteria commonly found on the produce needs to be known. If a core taxa of bacteria was known there could be a comprehensive method of testing produce for any bacteria that is not typically found to be present. Thanks to next generation sequencing of 16S rRNA amplicon a more comprehensive list can be created in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Argumentative Essay On The White Cube The purpose of this essay is to examine the controversial topic of the white cube and how the artists try to go over this fixed model. The first part of the essay is focused on the description of the model of the white cube and how it starts to be the ideally model for the art exhibition. Far away from the previous conception of the exhibition where the Salon Model was predominant. Nevertheless it starts to be clear that this model is not perfect: directly connected with the business of the art and the art institution, become a real obstacle for the artists. This plan was highly successful in eliminating the wealthy peasants known as the kulaks, thus further cementing Stalin s control over the Soviet state (Gregory 2010). Instead it proposed that socialism could be created even in an undeveloped country, and that Russia could and ultimately should focus on building socialism within itself. It emphasized human beings, their achievements, interests, and capabilities. This time period was a gateway to the modern world and was essential for the improvement of human life. At the time there were two main Renaissances, the Northern, and the Italian. The Italian Renaissance took place from the 1400s to the 1700s, just after the plague spread through. One of the major reasons why the Renaissance started in Italy was because of how fast the plague got through and spread throughout the rest of Europe. The Northern Renaissance took place from the 1400s to the 1600s, because the ideas from Italy spread to and then throughout Europe. Location was a key factor in where the rebirth would take place. The Italian Renaissance took place in Florence, Italy. Florence had been the center of the Roman Empire, which encouraged the rebirth to happen in a rapid pace. Another reason why the Italian Renaissance took place in Florence was because of it s location along the Mediterranean Sea, which aided trade and cultural diffusion. The muscular system, in conjunction with the skeletal system, is responsible for movement of the body among other things (VanPutte, 270). The ability of the human body to move has been critical in the survival of the species over the years for example; escaping from predators is only possible with skeletal muscle contraction. Hansen s disease generally only affects the peripheral nerves of the extremities, not the locations of the larger muscle groups; however the smaller muscles of the hands and feet are vital for the well being of individuals. For example, it would be quite difficult to feed oneself without the use of hands. Unfortunately, extreme cases of Hansen s disease cause paralysis of the individual s hands and feet. Paralysis occurs due to deadening of the peripheral nerves, both sensory and motor. As the afferent neurons lose the ability to receive and send stimuli, the nerve impulses (action potentials) are sent to the central nervous system less and less often. Even so, the action potentials that are transmitted to the CNS still are unlikely to stimulate the skeletal muscles for contraction. This is because the efferent peripheral neurons of the hands and feet are damaged as well. In effect, the sensory nerves of the extremities cannot receive much stimuli, and the motor neurons are also less able to start the action potentials in the skeletal muscle ... Although the ways in which rain might affect future hurricane intensity are not well understood and there have been very few studies conducted on the subject, it is a factor that should be considered in future models and forecasts for the future of hurricane intensity because of its large influence on hurricane intensity. The effect of rainpower is actually a negative feedback loop, as increased sea surface temperatures cause more water vapour, which leads to more rain, and consequently lessens hurricane intensity. With the protection programs that we write, the hackers write their own programs to disregard our individual privacy on the Internet and hack into systems holding our private information and stealing it to reveal some of our most biggest secrets. Encrypting private information has also been a useful tactic against hackers cracking encrypted data, and reading this private information. But they have their own ways of cracking our data. It was only not long ago that we could only encrypt up to 32 bit, and now we can encrypt up to 128 bit which makes it slightly impossible to decrypt unless you have almost all of your life to spend on solving it. But soon hackers will probably write bigger and more complex programs to decrypt this 128 bit shell that we have and make that shell keep on going rising and rising in the numbers until not even a computer program or any hacker can access or private documents or files except us. • 31. The Technology Behind A Computer STATEMENT OF PURPOSE When I realized that the technology behind a computer s operation could be used to solve a myriad of problems my interest in the field went far beyond browsing the net or playing computer games. My interest was further piqued by my elder sister who explained the intricacies involved in the projects she worked on during her Masters in Computer Application. After that, assured of her guidance, I opted for C++ as an elective in high school, and went on to enjoy the experience of successfully writing programs for computing Fibonacci series, drawing Pascal triangle, and completing my first project, Hangman Game. My inclination towards languages, creative streak, and analytical approach led me to believe that Computer Engineering would be a logical amalgamation of my abilities and interests. During my four year undergraduate course, the curriculum opened the doors to a treasure house of knowledge, and I found myself enticed by courses on Data Structures, Algorithms, and Object Oriented Programming. Also, being confronted by many algorithmic challenges during lectures and through my participation in coding, I realized the impact that a few lines of code could have in making our daily life smoother, and in helping us to manage our time and tasks in an efficient way. Interested in continuing my exploration of the application of Computer Science to solving problems, I set about creating a strong foundation in academics by investing hard work. Alongside ... There are also books about intelligent people who do incredible things. The Science Fiction trilogy, The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins, combines these themes to create a suspenseful book that is not only interesting, but is fun to read. This book contains many moments where the main character, Katniss Everdeen, showed immense bravery and intelligence. One of the bravest things Katniss did came during the start of the book in chapter 2. The annual reaping is a time of sorrow and apprehensiveness. Two children between the age of 12 18, one male, one female, will be selected to enter the annual hunger games. Cormier s son Peter, had refused to sell chocolates at his school s annual sale as a matter of principle (Kemp1), so Cormier thought that it would be an interesting plot for a book. In this book, Robert Cormier introduces us to many characters that personify evil in order to try to control and manipulate each other to gain power. So he buys a magazine with the curiosity of what kind of satisfaction the other kids were receiving by glaring at the images in the magazines. He is in that stage of wanting to be accepted. Cormier made Jerry s character out to be an outcast, being the one that would always get beaten up by the bully. Which proved to be correct when Emile Janza, the school s bully begins to pick on him. Although Emile was the school s bully he too, respected the Vigils to a certain extent. Archie was also a bully, but he bullied the minds of the other kids. He did not resort to physical abuse but he indeed psychologically bullied people including Emile Janza. Fear also played a factor throughout this story. Fear is what made the Goober go into Brother Eugene s room and loosen all of the screws from the furniture. This brings us back to the psychological bullying of Archie, because the Goober was mentally sick when he found out that the actions of his assignment had made Brother Eugene sick. I will also be arguing that despite the United Kingdom being a democratic society, it is falling below democratic standards. At present, social media is one of the most powerful tools in shaping people s perceptions on political ideologies, and therefore will be evaluating the extent it plays on policies as well as social conscience. The United Kingdom has two main political parties, the Conservative party and the Labour party. Although the political system in the UK has always been a multiparty system, ultimately it is either of these parties which shape policies in Britain. They have several differences on many key issues and principles. On the political spectrum, the labour party belongs to the centre left of the centre with socialistic ideology whereas the Conservative party sits at the centre right of the political spectrum with their primary philosophies of British unionism, Euroscepticism, Conservatism and Economic Liberalism. The Conservatism ideology stands firmly against the ideals of Liberalism and Socialism. At the turn of the twentieth century, Americans were especially confident in their technology and mastery over the natural world, that many felt that inclement and dangerous weather could be predicted so accurately that there was no need to fear. These attitudes in combination with a series of political problems within the Weather Bureau led to the ignoring of warnings from Cuban meteorologists regarding the storm. In an effort not to cause panic, no warning was given to Galveston residents of the storm until it was too late. The lack of warning combined with Galveston s misfortune of being very near the eye of the hurricane and being hit by the storm at a 90° angel, left the city vulnerable to the storm s full force.
