Us Economy And Trump s Plan For It
US Economy and Trump s Plan for it The US economy, as anybody would expect, has gone through
its ups and downs. Some believe that our new president has a brilliant plan to create a phenomenal
economy for our country. Others believe that his economic policy will take our country to the worst
state it has ever been. Throughout our history, various styles of economic policy have been commonly
believed. In the early 1900 s most economists believed in classical economics, this is the idea that the
economy will work better when the government is more hands off. This can be thought of as the
purest form of capitalism that has been attempted. In the late 1940 s, most US economists began to
follow Keynesian economics. This form of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This unfortunately made him one of the least popular presidents. His successor, Franklin Roosevelt,
had an opposing view and believed Government intervention could do a lot to help the people.
Roosevelt enacted various government programs in order to create jobs and assist those who needed it
most. One of Roosevelt s biggest program, the CCC or Civilian Conservation Corps, employed young
men to work on public works projects such as parks and structural improvements. The CCC spent
money and served multiple purposes. It could allow previously unemployed people to have money to
spend at businesses that desperately needed it, and it also improved the quality of the country in
general, which improves the value of the country as a whole over time. This program, as well as
several others, can be considered an investment in America s people, which could pay off over time.
Roosevelt s programs did a lot to fix the economy, but in the end it was the second world war that
really helped the economy. This could cause many to question how such policies could really help a
hurting economy. Overall, however, programs such as these have shown promise in being beneficial to
stimulate an economy when the are needed. Trump s plan for tax reform, at its simplest, is to cut taxes
for most people, with focus in certain incomes. In the

Swot analysis of Tesco plc Essay
Swot analysis of Tesco plc
We all know Tesco as a food retailer, and we know that they are in constant competition with other
retailers such as Sainsburys and Asda, yet we do not know much about what goes on beyond the
shelves and the tills, the marketing plans and the day to day tactics that have to be devised to stay the
number one food retailer in the United kingdom today.
I am going to analyse Broughton Parks Tesco and their possible competitors Swot Analysis

Customer profiles and their shopping habits. Tesco use the Organics, Finest and Value brands to
deliver to customer needs.
Their Customer Plan delivers the customer part of their strategy. It s an annual activity plan, and is an
agenda for customers with these projects forming part of category plans. It is designed to drive trade,
and to improve the shopping experience for customers.
The Operational Plan is an annual activity plan, including for example upgrading, replenishing
systems and better ways to build stores for the future. Lets now look at our store portfolio in the U K.
This can be broken down into Hypermarkets, Superstores, and High street amp; Express stores.
Tesco hypermarkets, of which some in the UK are now up to 100,000 sq. f t. such as Peterborough,
Watford , have been designed to a footprint which is being used world wide across our business.
They have 277 superstores including Broughton Park, 81 compact superstores, 27 Express stores, 41
Metro stores, and 229 other stores (mainly high street stores, which Chester s Tesco is). They also
have Tesco.com, which has no walls so they could sell houses, garden furniture and trips to the moon!

I Want To Be An Army Rotary Wing Aviator
How can I put into words a drive so strong it has been on my mind for several years? I will have to
start at the beginning; I have always been fascinated by flight, but more specifically rotary wing
aviation. I didn t know being a helicopter pilot was something attainable until a few years into my
military career. Before then, I had always held pilots in the same regard as legends; the stories I had
heard fell on my ears with a reverence that made the pilots seem almost beyond human. Pilots were
talked about and written about and were in movies, but weren t actually people, not something a new
private sees as possible to do. When I finally saw two actual pilots in line at the Post Exchange it hit
me, they are people. What do I need to do to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This gave me much more insight as to how to be a pilot, what it takes to live the life of an Army
Rotary Wing Aviator. I was enthralled and immediately decided I could not suffer a part time contract
to fly, I had to have the lifestyle and the opportunity of active duty. This created a timing problem as I
was still fresh in a 6 year contract. I did not waste the time I had left; I focused on becoming the best
soldier I could. Fueled by the expertise, dedication and experience of the aviators I have come across,
I began requesting training above my level and consistently rising to the challenges of my superiors
and performing above average. I surprised myself along the way, surpassing my own high
expectations, and after appreciating every success I reset the bar higher than before. The struggles that
have caused me to push back my timeline are not seen as regrets. Every struggle was beat. Every
hurdle showed me how much more I am capable of. My desire and dedication hasn t changed because
of this but my understanding has; I would compare it to a child s wild, superfluous dream turning into
an adult s strong, focused

Literature Review On Social Movements
II. LITERATURE REVIEW Social movements (SMs) have been part of society s history and politics
for centuries. For some authors, they started with the French Revolution and have been constantly
rising and falling depending on the existent socio political climate (Reichmann Fernandez Buey,
1994). For Charles Tilly, the nineteenth laid the groundwork for the modern social movements of the
twentieth century (Tilly, 1998). Karl Marx also studied and developed the concept of SMs; he viewed
them as a means of achieving a deep social change through class conflict (Tarrow, 2011). Studied in
relationship to the rise of globalisation and social media, the expansion and modernisation of SMs has
become increasingly prominent in the academic literature of the last century. Accordingly,
Globalisation has made it possible for individuals to empower themselves through participation in
supranational organisations and international organisms that challenge governmental authority. As
evidenced by Manuel Castells, populations around the world are now able to come together to affect
change by expressing ideas and demonstrating in support of pressing issues (Castells, 2009). Chile has
been no exception to the trend of globalisation and has participated in and developed a number of
strong international social movements. The academic literature on social movements is vast. Since
there are many types of SMs that focus on different aspects of human life (economic, social, political

Gang Injunction
This week s reading was a chapter from the book Police, Power, and the Product of Racial Boundaries
by Ana Muniz analyzed the function and outcomes of gang injunctions, specifically the Glendale
Corridor Gang Injunction. From what I understood, gang injunctions were used as a modern peculiar
institution that reestablished the definition of race and normalized forms of racial inequality to fit their
societal needs. Society s wishes to gentrify lead to the displacement of certain people of color and
justified the use of violence against individuals through police action. This is similar to slavery and the
separation between white and black to justify the use of violence and dehumanization by reducing
African Americans to objects of labor when

Evolution Of Race Analysis
This article is an examination of the invention of race. Throughout the article the author is trying to
enlighten the readers to the history of the creation of race and its evolution throughout history and it
progresses throughout time, from the Egyptians, to the 21st century. There were many important
points made throughout the article. Some of the main points and arguments, including the discussion
of where race began, the inconsistency in our ideas of race, racism in science, the use of eugenics to
identify race in biology and the disenfranchising of the connection of race and biology. A huge part of
the argument was telling the history of the creation of race and how it evolved into what we know
now. The idea that the government created ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the entire paper the author would mention certain events or points, but move on before he
fully explained them. One example of this is when he quickly mentioned the study by Kenneth Clark
and psychological harm to black children caused by segregation. Without previous knowledge of this
study, you would not know how this connects to this particular subject. This does not line up with the
fact that in some circumstances, he goes into extreme detail about the other topics. I would have loved
for the author to go into more detail about the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural
Organization and the authors that they brought in for the panel. I would have liked to know more
about why these specific people were picked other than the books that they had written. One part of
this article that I do not agree with is the idea that race is a completely terrible creation. By this, I do
not mean that race is good, rather that it can have positive situations. Without race, we would not have
been able to identify that sickle cell anemia is more common in African Americans. The positive
attributes do not out way the negatives, but they are still something to think about. Even though she
points out all of these problems with the notion of race, she never provides a single solution to any of

The Negative Effects Of Homework In Elementary Education
Homework has been a topic of conversation in elementary education for the majority of last decade,
the pros and cons have been argued and researched time and time again. While most professionals in
the field agree that homework is needed and helpful in middle and high school, when it comes to
younger grades the information strongly shows that it is a waste of time. At its core homework has two
possible effects in the home. Homework can be seen as a rule over parents from the school to manage
their children s time outside of school or as a way to inform parents on what their children are
currently and allow them participation in their children s education (Wright). Around the time leading
up to World War One the Ladies Home Journal began advocating for an end to homework for all
children under the age of fifteen. The change continued in 1901 when California passed a law
abolishing all homework for grade levels one through eight. After the launch of Sputnik, a pro
homework movement began calling for heavier student work loads in hopes to keep students up to par
with their russian counterparts. The movement was revised as researches in the late 1960 s as they
observed the amount of stress put onto students by homework. American schools began reporting
falling test scores and lower overall performance of students in the 1980 s, which lead to a rise of the
use of homework once again. During this time the US Department of Education released a pamphlet,
in which they claimed

Summary Of The Novel Water For Elephants
Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen is a novel about the life of an elderly man who spent time in the
nineteen thirties traveling with a circus. This man is Jacob Jankowski. Jacob Jankowski is around
ninety years old and living in an assisted living home, which is depicted as a sort of Hell on Earth.
Throughout the novel it would seem that Jacob Jankowski is suffering from mild dementia. He often
forgets small things like his caretakers names, but he never forgets his time in the circus. While Jacob
Jankowski is living in the assisted living home, the circus comes into town. This brings back
memories. Jankowski begins to have flashbacks in his dreams. The reader can assume that these
flashbacks are caused by the circus coming into town, which Jankowski sees being set up every day ...

Reasons For Corruption In Thailand
Who is responsible for the Corruption in Thailand? Thailand is one of the most beautiful places in the
world. It s full of beautiful beaches, cities and wonderful food, however it is also home to a great
amount of corruption. I like to believe that the corruption in Thailand is caused by globalization, the
process where businesses or organizations gain international influence. Therefore this research is
based off of the question how are big corporations responsible for the corruption in Thailand? Big
corporations are responsible for the corruption in Thailand because of bribery and violations of the
Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
What are the working conditions in the factories in Thailand? The working conditions in these
corporation s factories are unacceptable. According to the article titled Former Nike Factory Worker

according to the same article It had been two months that we did not get paid. This proved that the
working conditions in Thailand were very bad and unfair to the workers. This also proves that
corporations like this are causing the corruption by letting this happen.

If people throw stones at you take them up and build something According to well known
psychologist Erik Erikson every child passes through various stages of development at the respective
ages in their life for example infancy, early childhood, preschool, school age, adolescence his is

children; development itself is a hurdle that every child has to overcome as they mature into teens and
young adults however this is predominantly not the only obstacles that they have to overcome.

negative on the person that are/or have been bullied. These effects include diminishing self concept

Catcher s The Rye, A Phenomenal Work Of Literature
Catcher in the Rye Soundtrack Catcher in the Rye was a phenomenal work of literature. The novel has
been able to withstand the test of time without ever making it to the big screen. Present day with a
movie of the bestselling novel is coming soon, every detail must amaze the avid reader of the book.
This includes, lighting, a flawless director, a cluster of A list actors, outstanding scenery, and last but
certainly not least, a soundtrack that will knock the viewer of the movie into a sense of amazement. A
soundtrack can completely devastate a movie. If there is a scene where a character in the scene is
crying because they lost their friend, it would definitely be strange if the music in the background was
Can t Touch This by M.C. Hammer. Soundtracks tell the audience what to feel whether it would be
fear or excitement. With a soundtrack playing a critical position in a movie, the songs that have been
chosen have transcended more than just the scenes they are played in, and turned into the embodiment
of some of the major themes in the movie. A great selection for the opening song would be a song by
Chance the Rapper called Finish Line . On this song, Chance the Rapper appears to just spout
sentences that just come to head like the stream of consciousness like Holden. When Holden goes on
his particular tangents he usually is trying to get to a specific point, a finish line. Coincidentally,
Holden during the entire book has been trying to come to some finish line . With

Shingles On The Roof Research Paper
What To Do About Damaged Shingles On Your Roof
Replacing a loose shingle is a common type of roof repair you may have to make, especially if you
have trees that grow too close to your roof. When tree branches scrape the shingles, they lift up the
edges and the shingles eventually curl. Then the wind catches them during a storm and finishes
ripping the shingles off the roof. Even if the shingles aren t missing completely, you still want to repair
them when you notice they are twisted out of place or curled up on the ends. Here s how to go about
making these roof repairs.

Don t climb up on your roof unless you are confident in your ability to climb a ladder and walk around

Making The Repairs
You can buy all the supplies you need for roof repairs at a home improvement store. It may be difficult
to find an exact color match if your shingles are old and faded due to sun exposure, so you ll have to
do the best you can. In addition to shingles, you ll need roofing nails, a crowbar, hammer, and roofing
adhesive. In places where a shingle is completely missing, you can slide a new one into the empty
space and nail it down using the same nail holes used for the old shingle.
If a shingle is badly curled or cracked, decide if you want to replace it or repair it. Replacing it might
be quicker if you have extra shingles on hand. Use the crowbar to pry up the old shingle. Pull the nails
out, and then slide in the new shingle and nail it in place. If you want to repair the shingle instead, all
you have to do is put roofing adhesive under the curl or over the crack. Place a brick over the curled
portion of the shingle to hold it in place until the adhesive

Roswell Conspiracy
What really happened in Roswell?
For more than 60 years, the debate between reality and conspiracy has raged on with the concept of
aliens in the center(History.com Staff). In Roswell, New Mexico in 1947 what is believed by
conspiracy theorists to be a flying saucer was found in a rancher s sheep pasture. The idea that
exterrestrial life could possibly exist may seem out of this world to some. But, to an entire town of
people, the idea is not as far fetched.
So, what are aliens? Aliens are exterrestrial beings that allegedly live in outer space and did not
originate from Earth. Outer space is incomprehensibly massive. The galaxy in which human beings
live is referred to as the Milky Way, and there are an estimated 100 billion planets in that one galaxy

Identity in the Works of Eavan Boland and Seamus Heaney
Many times poetry is reflective of the author s past as well as their personal struggles. One struggle
that poets write about is of identity and the creation, as well as loss, of individual identities. Using a
passage from the essay Lava Cameo by Eavan Boland, I will show how two poets use their craft to
describe their struggle with identity. Eavan Boland and Seamus Heaney both write poems which
express an internal struggle with roles of identity and how they recreate their roles to fit their needs.
Through retrospection and reflection, both poets come to realize that the roles they led as well as those
they reinvented have created their own personal identities. Boland, in her ... Show more content on

those of the fictitious worlds created in poetry. Men created the traditions and customs associated with
poetry. These traditions have objectified women and placed them as the primary focus of much of
poetry, often times in a subordinate manner. Boland states that in poetry women were used as
...metaphors and invocations, similes and muses. Boland s experiences as a woman do not fit into the
traditional poems that men had written. Due to this, she felt an internal struggle when trying to master
her craft between her role as a woman and the role of women observed in traditional poetry.
Boland would practice her craft and write line after line expressing her mind as a human being. In the
end however, she found it inescapable that her life as a woman would become the ultimate object of
the poetry. She found that as much as she tried to express her perceptions in her poetry she could not
find an identity independent of a man s identity. Poetry as a craft was molded in the perceptions of
men. Women lacked an identity, without which the female perceptions are unidentifiable. The craft of

The Gross Clinic Gender Roles
Thomas Eakins, an American painter, is recognized for his anatomical depictions of men and women
in his paintings. In the Romantic era, it was known for artists to illustrate scenes which evoke
emotions; however, Eakins The Gross Clinic (1875) bluntly portrayed a bloody surgery, which was not
received well, due to the fact that few other painting depicted such a vulgar and graphic scene. In the
nineteenth century, men were viewed as the rational, reasonable and intellectual beings, superior over
the passive and submissive qualities of women. In that time period, man was considered woman s
superior over God s appointment. Eakins portrayal of men and women reflect the characters of both

that far outshines Gilgamesh. The bravery of Enkidu is seen as soon as he appears in the epic. In fact,

from hair follicles known as oily deposits, which stays there. Lipophilic substances (oil loving) attract
the oily deposits. Surfactants are used to get rid of them. Through the use of aligning lipophilic and
hydrophilic ends, it is able to take the lipids off the exterior.
Foaming Surfactant solutions can foam, as the air in liquids are trapped in the surfactant molecules.
Foam is often desirable among consumers for cosmetics, so it is a key feature of surfactants.
Emulsification A lot of cosmetic products want to add oily materials to it in order to have the preferred
effect on skin and hair. These ingredients usually can t be applied directly because they have
undesirable aesthetic characteristics in their concentrated form. For this reason, cosmetic chemists
create emulsions using

Cordelia King Lear
In the Jacobean era, the natural order of the world was perceived as strict and immutable. In King
Lear, a tragic Shakespearean play, emphasis is also put on the natural order, which specifically reveals
a destiny for the characters in terms of their roles in the social hierarchy. Shakespeare shows that
adhering to one s social order is heroic. He demonstrates this though Cordelia, Kent, and Edgar, who
are all initially out casted, and then reintegrated into the King s community through adhering to their
social order. Early on in the play, Cordelia is disowned by her father, and then due to her selfless love
for him, she heroically reintegrates herself as the ideal youngest daughter according to the natural
familial order. Cordelia is rejected by her father when she is asked how much she loves him in order to
justify her portion of inherited land. Before arguing with her father, she tells him: Unhappy that I am, I
cannot heave My heart into my mouth. I love your majesty According to my bond, no more, no less.

Lear unfortunately fails to see how her lack of skill to demonstrate her admiration for him upsets her.
When Cordelia says that she loves Lear like a father, her honesty does not undermine her respect, but
instead reveals her pure respect for their bond. This perception allows Cordelia to adhere to the
familial norm where the youngest daughter is loved the most, which explains why Lear was
particularly upset by her vague response. Cordelia then decides to invade England in order to save her
father from the abuse of her two sisters. In preparation, she says

It s Time for a Supranational Sustainable Development Authority
The ingenuity of man that lead to the unprecedented global development of the twentieth century
would certainly not have been possible without the earth s rich natural resources. In this century, Earth
has endured a population explosion, yet still has the agricultural capacity to nourish a global
population of over six million people. At the same time, the quality of life in industrialized nations is
perceived to have risen in tandem with the availability and affordability of mass produced consumer
products made possible by the resourceful use of raw materials and energy. Many trumpet this

Then, I will evaluate various perspectives on attaining sustainable development. Lastly, I will argue in
support of two paradigm shifts necessary for serious implementation of public policy initiatives aimed
at its promotion.
An Introduction to Sustainable Development
In 1980 and again in 1992, Presidents Jimmy Carter and George Bush faced rough economic times
and partially blamed environmental policy. Both presidents men that had campaigned as
environmentalists scaled back environmental regulation in hopes of stimulating the economy and their
re election campaigns (Krupp). The men failed on both accounts, and compromised environmental
protection for supposed economic benefits.
Evidence suggests that the environment need not be pitted against economic well being as Bush,
Carter, and many others have done; sustainable development is the key to ensuring well being of today
s citizens as well as future generations.
A 1996 essay by British Member of Parliament Chris Smith analyzed many of the jobs versus
environment claims made by opponents of environmental regulation. Chris Smith states that lost jobs
often attributed to environmental legislation would often have soon been eliminated anyway; in many
cases, environmental policy serves as a convenient scapegoat. He cites incidents in which jobs are
actually created by enactment of environmentally friendly public policy. For example, a

Socrates View On Happiness
To achieve happiness, there is no set action to take in order to feel it. I feel as if happiness can be
reached in an unjust society. It is up to an individual to find their own happiness. An individual has to
make the best out of what they have. It has been proven time and time again, that it is okay to be
different. It is when people are different when things start to change for society. When everyone stays
the same, everything stays the same. Just like Socrates questioning anything and everything to attempt
to fulfill his life, how the Greeks used theater to make life less serious, and the use of certain coping
mechanisms used in today s society.
Socrates was known to be one of the founders of western philosophy. For most of his time he was a
well known character, expounding his philosophy of life in the streets of Athens to anyone who cared
to listen (Grube, pg. ix). Socrates spent his life questioning absolutely anything and everything. That is
how he fulfilled his life. He knew that nothing was certain, and that is what made him happy. He lived
in a society that he thought was unjust, yet he found a way to have happiness. Socrates knew that what
we know as humans is not accurate, and he was determined to try and figure out anything he could. He
may not have known why he did what he did, or he may not know that it makes him happy, but that is
what he did to pursue his definition of happiness.
Throughout the Greek age, drama became a huge role in society. According to Backman,In other
societies such as Egypt, there was no such thing as a play or comedy. I feel as if that society was a lot
more reserved and not as open. In Greece, the use of comedy made it easier to joke about more serious
issues.
Just like in the Greek age, today s society uses comedy to make each other happy and feel better about
what is happening. The use of theater may not directly occur, however the use social media, television,
and internet to make light of the downfalls we have throughout our society. Throughout the year of
2016, there was a lot of controversy throughout the presidential election. It was a sore subject for
many to talk about due to the extremely different beliefs. This society is built on the grounds of

The Effects Of Socialization In The Lost Boys Of Africa
Every being in their lives will experience the effects of socialization throughout their lives, and the
Lost Boys of Africa are no exception. In anything, the Lost Boys, in some ways, may have been
exposed to a greater number of sociological constructs than most American children their age. From
the effects of dependency theory, to ethnic discrimination and prejudice that began in their homeland
of Sudan and followed them to the United States, and experiencing problems with assimilation, these
boys have truly showed effects of socialization. Perhaps the first sociological construct demonstrated
in the film was the effects of Dependency Theory. Much of Africa has a history of being colonized by
Europe at some point in its history, and in the case of Sudan, it was largely under British control.
Under British rule, Sudan was essentially divided into Northern and Southern regions. While the
North continued to practice its traditions and language, Christianity and the English language began to
spread throughout the South. When the British left Sudan, the superpower attempted to prepare the
country for self government by establishing a parliament. The problem was that this new government
was established predominantly in the North with little representation of Southern Sudan. After the
British left, years of conflict quickly arose and eventually lead to civil war. According to the conflict
theory of dependency, Sudan was taken advantage of, then eventually left on its own. One

Preamble:
The Digital Curation Task Force (DCTF) is charged with developing a digital curation plan for a small
university archives organizationally located within the library structure. The focus of the plan is on the
feasibility of building a digital repository program for the archives to provide better access to their
holdings.
Task Force Composition:
A successful digital curation effort requires collaboration between individuals with varied skillsets.
Therefore, the DCTF should be comprised of members of the archives unit, the library, and the larger
university community. All types of individuals listed below will be valuable additions to the DCTF:

The state of the current economic climate is common knowledge, resources for post secondary
educational institutions are not plentiful and budgets are tight! Some may question our motives for
choosing this moment to embark on creating a digital repository to provide better access to the
holdings of the archives, but I believe that we can tailor our strategy to the current climate and develop
a plan that is creative, feasible, and sustainable. The resource that I would like you all to explore is a
book titled Building a Digital Repository Program with Limited Resources, which is available as an
eBook via the library catalogue. This book was written recently from the academic archives/library
perspective by an expert in the field. Most importantly, the book focuses on how creating a well
designed, efficient, sustainable, fiscally responsible repository program with realistic, quantifiable
goals can help showcase...knowledge centers in this era of shrinking budgets and an increasingly
digital environment (Clobridge, 2010). The author intended the book to function as a handbook for
both those beginning and well versed in digital repository work, so everyone in the DCTF should be
able to come away from this resource more knowledgeable about the work ahead (Clobridge, 2010).

Wernicke-Korsakoff Syndrome Research Paper
Abstract Thiamine is an essential vitamin needed by all cells in the body. When the body lacks
thiamine for an extended period of time, many problems arise, mainly in the brain and heart.
Alcoholism and malnourishment are two of the leading causes of thiamine deficiency. Although fairly
rare, Wernicke Korsakoff syndrome (WKS) can be a severe consequence of thiamine shortage. WKS
is a neurodegenerative disease that affects the brain and disrupts the neuronal signaling. Not only does
it make daily life very difficult, it can become life threatening and cause permanent damage. The lack
of thiamine interrupts many biochemical pathways in the body, including the pentose phosphate
pathway, glycolysis, and the Citric Acid cycle. Disrupting these pathways causes WKS to present
along with multiple other complications.
Introduction
WKS is actually a combination of two different diseases. Wernicke s Encephalopathy is the first to
appear. It is a short lived, but life threatening mental condition. It causes ocular disturbances, mental
state variation, and unsteady movements and stance (Thomson, 2009). Wernicke s Encephalopathy is
mainly seen in alcoholics, but has been observed in non alcoholics as well. Korsakoff s syndrome is
the second illness to present. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, if caught early enough, the less likely there will be residual brain damage and memory
impairment. Treatment for WKS is immediate administration of thiamine. Thiamine doses differ from
patient to patient depending on severity of the WKS. Oral thiamine supplements are not effective in
severe cases because of the liver damage and disrupted thiamine metabolism. It usually is
administered intramuscularly. Taking the thiamine may not completely reverse all damage, but can
prevent the progression of the disease. Also, a few lifestyle changes should be made, including a
complete diet and refraining from heavy

Imagine a world where you are never safe. Your every move is monitored, and there is no one whom

world, and accidentally read by me over the summer. 1984 is a dystopian mix of science and realistic
fiction, in which the year is, wait for it, 1984, and our main character Winston has to deal with both
internal and external conflicts in the form of the Party, the ruling class of Oceania, and deciding whom

The Role Of Media And Its Effect On The Nature Of Information
The Role of Media
Media is the main means of mass communication (broadcasting, publishing, and the internet) regarded
as collectively (The Oxford Dictionary). It brings information readily; thus, play an important role in
our society. Although vital arteries of information, these media have built in biases that distort the
facts (Lewis, 2007, p.267).
Media is affected by a number of factors that affect the nature of information received. These include
but not limited to constraints of space and time, market share, advertisers, private ownership,
recognizing bias, and the internet. As a result, media can be deceptive. These are examples of why
media can be deceptive: ownership, advertising, official sources, flak, and marginalizing ... Show

So, filmmaker Mark Achbar asks, what type of person would a corporation be? The evidence,
according to such political activists as Noam Chomsky and filmmaker Michael Moore and company
heads like carpet magnate Ray Anderson, points to a bad one, as the film aims to expose IBM s Nazi
ties and these large businesses exploitation of human rights .
The argument of this film is that the corporation is considered a legal person with no conscience and is
assigned attributes that suggest that it has a psychopathic nature. This assertion was confirmed when
the corporation exhibits all of the characteristics of a psychopath. According to the documentary, these
traits include:
 Callous unconcern for the feelings of others.
 Incapacity to maintain enduring relations.
 Reckless disregard for the safety of others.
 Deceitfulness: repeated lying and conning others for profit.
 Incapacity to experience guilt.
 Failure to comply with social norms with respect to lawful behaviours. (approx. 18 40 min)
The extent to which the validity of the argument emerge is displayed by the corporation when it
display self interested, deceitful, and willing to break the law to get its way; unable to feel guilt, and
yet able to mimic caring and altruism (approx. 40 42 min; Yamey, 2004, para. 7). The corporation is

What Are The Similarities Between Achaemenid And Roman...
The Roman and Achaemenid Empires are arguably the most significant empires in human history.
Although separated by many years, they had countless resemblances that may have had an important
role in their success. First, you can see parallels concerning their approaches to governance. Both
empires were so expansive that they could not be practically controlled by one central authority. They
both had analogous attitudes towards the general population, religious tolerance and were greatly
influenced by the cultures they annexed into their empires.
Rome and Persia paralleled in many aspects of governmental policy. They were both governed under a
republic in order to manage their expansive conquered lands. Both empires were huge and well
organized. According to History World International, the Persian Empire governed different conquered
peoples on the principle of equal responsibilities and equal rights. If taxes were paid and no one
revolted against their rule, local religion, customs, and trade would be left to the local government
(Giusepi. 2004. p 1). While the Roman Empire did allow many religious and cultural freedoms as
well, they did attempt to Romanize its citizens, and enslave the people they conquered. This caused an
understandable amount of unrest amongst its people.
Another similarity was how these empires installed a military representative in conquered lands to
maintain control and report back to their Emperors (Guisepi. 2004 p 1).

The Role Of Economic Development As Measured Through Levels
Gender inequality has been and is still a problem being faced worldwide. It has inhibited the social,
economical, and political growth of women in all different nations, especially third world
countries. There are various implications that change the level of inequality such as education, culture,
religion, democratization of countries, years of independence, and most importantly, economic
development. (Dollar Gatti, 1999). This paper is examining the role economic development as
measured through levels GDP (low, medium, high) plays in the level of gender empowerment in a
country. After reading various studies, I have concluded that when regarding gender empowerment it
is specific to the empowerment of women It is hypothesized that increased economic development
will display higher levels of gender empowerment. The following three literature reviews will
demonstrate and support the hypothesis. The first article, Gender Inequality, Income, and Growth: Are
Good Times Good for Women? by David Dollar and Roberta Gotti, is a cumulated work that was
published by The World Bank under the Development Research Group. Dollar and Roberti addressed
three specific questions that they felt were strong factors in the implications economic development
brought upon gender empowerment. The questions were constructed in efforts to respond to the
macroeconomic data revealed through its answers. The questions are: 1. Is lower investment in girls

ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY II
OCTOBER 19, 2014 The War on Malaria
About 3.3 billion people, that is about half of the world s population are at risk of contracting malaria
(figure 1). Every year there are 250 million cases of malaria, and nearly 1 million deaths. That
amounts to 2,732 deaths per day. Out of those million people that die every year, 800,000 of them are
African children under the age of 5. To control malaria three actions need to be taken: insecticides
need to be used to decrease the vector population, people have to be educated as to how to prevent the
vector from reproducing, and anti malarial drugs need to be distributed. To understand the vector and
what the vector is, scientists had to first discover what the parasite was and how it worked. It was not
until the year 1880 that French Physician Charles Laveran discovered that Malaria was caused by a
protozoan in the genus Plasmodium (Malaria, 2013)

How Elizabeth Gaskell Manipulates the Readers Feelings in The Half Brothers The Half Brothers is a
story written in the mid 1900 s by a middle class Victorian writer called Elizabeth Gaskell. She has a
strong moral interest in the difficulties of poor people who lived in abject poverty. This is what
inspired her to write stories such as The Half Brothers . Some of her characters in this short story are
described in such a way as to provoke sympathy and admiration for them from the reader. However
other characters have much more depth to them and are more complicated. The suspense she creates in

She has to undergo all these tragedies all in such a short and concentrated period of time long before
she should have to and this again elicits our pity for her. Helen is described as being a very isolated
character and this is continually emphasised by repeating it. Her living space is described as a
lonesome dwelling and at the funeral of her youngest daughter neighbours, my aunt and one far off

occurring in her life. Her marriage to Preston is in one sense a good thing as she will now be able to
provide for her son, Gregory. However she does not love Preston. We pity Helen because she is
committing herself to someone she does not want to be with just to support her son. The quotation
Aunt Fanny heard her cry as if her heart was breaking reinforces this point. There is also at least a 20

Latino-Day Labor Case Study
. Key concept 1: De Castro et al. explains how lack of documentation can give employers a medium to
exploit, control, and intimidate poor immigrant workers into tolerating foul conditions ultimately
affecting their state of health. Since poor immigrant workers are terrified of being deported to their
home country they are less likely to demand better working environments resulting in the detrition of
their health and wellbeing. Key Concept 2: As discussed by de Castro et al. economic factors, social
factors, work related factors all have a vital role in determining the health status of Latino day
laborers. They are forced to endure the low paying wages of strenuous work that weakens the body
and exposes them to disease. Discrimination also

Competition And Monopoly And Innovation Within The Workplace
Introduction In order to remain competitive many companies have integrated a perspective known as
monopolistic competition. Monopolistic competition is a concept that refers to the case where there
are many sellers of a differentiated product and entry into or exit from the industry is rather easy in the
long run.( Salvatore, D., 2011p.373) When we consider the aspect of Transportation and Logistic
companies, we find that there are many that have different products but are suited to meet the same
needs of the consumer. This paper will entail all those portions that help Transportation and Logistic
companies find advantages of implementing both competition and monopoly and innovation within
the workplace. As companies continue to grow into a particular industry, the threat of substitute good
becomes substantial, allowing for more to arise. With the rise of these products; companies can began
to see a decline in sales. Many businesses can find out what are the advantages of innovation in order
to derive a more unique perception to stay ahead of the competition. One concept that will be
mentioned that has allowed some logistic companies to get ahead is that of Intermodal Transportation
and how it has allowed many companies to benefit economically. Innovation is a derivative that has
allowed many businesses to flourish and continue to gain a competitive edge within its particular
industry and the market. Many transportation and logistic companies don t compete on the

Analysis Of The Poem The Bay Of Naples
When I was looking through 17th 18th century European artwork in the Norton Simon Museum, there
was one piece of art that really stood out to me. That beautiful art piece was the Bay of Naples by
Claude Joseph Vernet. This piece stood out to me because of the beautiful scenery that is displayed
and the deep serenity the piece gives me when I look at it. The Bay of Naples is a painting of a
landscape that captures the daily life of the bay. The materials used for this painting was oil on canvas.
Claude Joseph Vernet made a painting that brings your attention to the foreground. In the front, there
is a boat being boarded. Some of the people that are not boarding the boat are standing by the sea. In
the sea, some boats are sailing off in the distance. One of the boats in the distance is a large boat that
gives the illusion of being three dimensional. The form gives this illusion because of the reflection in
the sea. If you look in the lower right, you can see the light from the sun illuminating the sky. This
light is hidden behind a large mountain that also has a three dimensional form. There is also lots of
texture in the painting. Some texture is seen in the mountains and ground giving a rough look, and
some is seen in the sea in the form of ripples. On top of the mountain in the lower right, there is
greenery that has an illusion of being light and feathery. In that mountain, there is an arch that makes
the other side visible. In the far distance, you can see a faint

The Last Judgement Tympanum At St-Lazare Analysis
The Last Judgment tympanum at Saint Lazare is also incredibly significant due to the fact that no
other tympanum from the Romanesque is so boldly and recognizably claimed by the artist. In the
middle of the composition is the phrase Gislebertus hoc fecit , which roughly translates to Gislebertus
made this and serves as the alleged artist s signature. As mentioned previously, few of the large
stoneworks from this era can be directly linked to a specific person. The signature left behind at Saint
Lazare can be easily interpreted as a big display of artistic confidence, a quality more frequently seen
from master artists of the Renaissance and onward. During this period, Romanesque sculptures
attached to architecture were relegated in status to secondary importance to stonemasons, and the
tympanums were seen as very separate objects. By placing his signature here, Gislebertus claims the
piece as his own work and firmly establishes himself as an artist rather than simply a sculptor. There
are historians who question whether the signature left behind is actually indicative of patronage rather
than the artist responsible for it; a patron placing themselves within a piece ... Show more content on

In contrast, the figures on the right side have received condemnation and face the wrath of several
devilish figures. This exact orientation of the saved and damned figures is showcased in nearly every
depiction of the Last Judgment, no matter the period or year of its creation. Within the ranks of the
saved are varying degrees of ecstasy and rapture on the faces of the figures, all looking towards their
savior Christ. Conversely, the damned are depicted in various states of intense agony; the figures are
all bent into several extreme, angular and anguished poses amplifying the severity of their final

George Orwell Politics And The English Language Summary
Written and spoken language is what sets humans apart from other animals as intellectuals, but if our
language is declining, is the intellect of our society going down the same slope. In his essay Politics
and the English Language, written in the post World War II era, George Orwell discusses the direction
our English language is going in and how the manipulation of language is being used in politics. In the
essay Orwell states, the English language is in a bad way (Orwell in Shea, Scanlon, Aufses 707). I
agree with his statement, due to the affect the music industry is having on teens today and the rhetoric
used in the recent election. In his essay, Orwell discusses the different factors that have caused the
deterioration of the English language and the way in which it ... Show more content on

Today we live in a country in which rhetoric can make the most controversial ideas normal, and can
take a modern and progressive America back a couple steps. Some say the recent election has been
won by clever use of rhetoric; to whom that rhetoric appealed to is a whole other story. During the last
election, a video of Donald Trump was exposed, in which Trump said some statements that question
his respect for women. When asked to respond to his own comments in the video, Trump dismissed it
as locker room talk (Farenthold). The problem with this response is that the audience is not told what
locker room talk is, and why it is okay to say disrespectful statements about women in a locker room.
The truth is that this response did not explain anything on Trumps end. Instead it was a vague and
meaningless phrase that distracted the audience from Trump s actions. This strategy is becoming more
and more common in politics, signifying a decline in our

Cons of the 1964 Civil Rights Act
Cons of the 1964 Civil Rights Act
When faced with pointing out the cons of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, one may feel there aren t many if
any. Or maybe that it s a justified contradiction to the first amendment, which from the U.S.
Constitution reads: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting
the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people
peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. The 1964 Civil
Rights act is just one of the many problems that arise from the civil rights act. When the Civil Rights
Act was passed it permitted voting rights, injunctive relief against discrimination in public places, of

Learning And Leading With Habits Of Mind
In a state of dilemma, individuals find it interesting when people confronted with life s problems. The
way people behave when the answers to which are not immediately known. Different situation, people
have to think of different technique to solve the problems. Analyzing a poem is different from
analyzing statistical data. Both are related to analyzing but the mind has to be aware of each situation
to apply in any cases. Learning and Leading with Habits of Mind talks about sixteen ways people use
when it comes to describing the Habits of Mind. Curiosity is what motivates deep thinking when
questioning and posing problems habit. The bravery to take responsible risks habit and listening with
understand and empathy habit when hearing stories from others. For me, one of the most important
habit that I have learned the most is responsible risks. Being greedy and wanted to be success in two
categories is not going to work, I have to decide on letting go of one and remain focus on the one that
I am planning to take the risk on.
I have lived with my mom since I was born and until I grow up. A period of time that mom has given
me the love and I have always promised that I will never leave the warmth of this love. I still
remember the day I was twelve, my Dad has come back from the United States and offered me a cruel
but also full of opportunities question. The question has been in my head and I was debating with
myself for the longest time. Go to the United States with him and

  • 2. Us Economy And Trump s Plan For It US Economy and Trump s Plan for it The US economy, as anybody would expect, has gone through its ups and downs. Some believe that our new president has a brilliant plan to create a phenomenal economy for our country. Others believe that his economic policy will take our country to the worst state it has ever been. Throughout our history, various styles of economic policy have been commonly believed. In the early 1900 s most economists believed in classical economics, this is the idea that the economy will work better when the government is more hands off. This can be thought of as the purest form of capitalism that has been attempted. In the late 1940 s, most US economists began to follow Keynesian economics. This form of ... His successor, Franklin Roosevelt, had an opposing view and believed Government intervention could do a lot to help the people. Roosevelt enacted various government programs in order to create jobs and assist those who needed it most. One of Roosevelt s biggest program, the CCC or Civilian Conservation Corps, employed young men to work on public works projects such as parks and structural improvements. The CCC spent money and served multiple purposes. It could allow previously unemployed people to have money to spend at businesses that desperately needed it, and it also improved the quality of the country in general, which improves the value of the country as a whole over time. This program, as well as several others, can be considered an investment in America s people, which could pay off over time. Roosevelt s programs did a lot to fix the economy, but in the end it was the second world war that really helped the economy. This could cause many to question how such policies could really help a hurting economy. Overall, however, programs such as these have shown promise in being beneficial to stimulate an economy when the are needed. I will have to start at the beginning; I have always been fascinated by flight, but more specifically rotary wing aviation. I didn t know being a helicopter pilot was something attainable until a few years into my military career. Before then, I had always held pilots in the same regard as legends; the stories I had heard fell on my ears with a reverence that made the pilots seem almost beyond human. This created a timing problem as I was still fresh in a 6 year contract. I did not waste the time I had left; I focused on becoming the best soldier I could. Fueled by the expertise, dedication and experience of the aviators I have come across, I began requesting training above my level and consistently rising to the challenges of my superiors and performing above average. I surprised myself along the way, surpassing my own high expectations, and after appreciating every success I reset the bar higher than before. The struggles that have caused me to push back my timeline are not seen as regrets. Every struggle was beat. Every hurdle showed me how much more I am capable of. • 5. Literature Review On Social Movements II. LITERATURE REVIEW Social movements (SMs) have been part of society s history and politics for centuries. For some authors, they started with the French Revolution and have been constantly rising and falling depending on the existent socio political climate (Reichmann Fernandez Buey, 1994). For Charles Tilly, the nineteenth laid the groundwork for the modern social movements of the twentieth century (Tilly, 1998). Karl Marx also studied and developed the concept of SMs; he viewed them as a means of achieving a deep social change through class conflict (Tarrow, 2011). Studied in relationship to the rise of globalisation and social media, the expansion and modernisation of SMs has become increasingly prominent in the academic literature of the last century. Accordingly, Globalisation has made it possible for individuals to empower themselves through participation in supranational organisations and international organisms that challenge governmental authority. As evidenced by Manuel Castells, populations around the world are now able to come together to affect change by expressing ideas and demonstrating in support of pressing issues (Castells, 2009). Chile has been no exception to the trend of globalisation and has participated in and developed a number of strong international social movements. The academic literature on social movements is vast. The Negative Effects Of Homework In Elementary Education Homework has been a topic of conversation in elementary education for the majority of last decade, the pros and cons have been argued and researched time and time again. While most professionals in the field agree that homework is needed and helpful in middle and high school, when it comes to younger grades the information strongly shows that it is a waste of time. At its core homework has two possible effects in the home. Homework can be seen as a rule over parents from the school to manage their children s time outside of school or as a way to inform parents on what their children are currently and allow them participation in their children s education (Wright). Around the time leading up to World War One the Ladies Home Journal began advocating for an end to homework for all children under the age of fifteen. The change continued in 1901 when California passed a law abolishing all homework for grade levels one through eight. After the launch of Sputnik, a pro homework movement began calling for heavier student work loads in hopes to keep students up to par with their russian counterparts. The movement was revised as researches in the late 1960 s as they observed the amount of stress put onto students by homework. Early on in the play, Cordelia is disowned by her father, and then due to her selfless love for him, she heroically reintegrates herself as the ideal youngest daughter according to the natural familial order. Cordelia is rejected by her father when she is asked how much she loves him in order to justify her portion of inherited land. Before arguing with her father, she tells him: Unhappy that I am, I cannot heave My heart into my mouth. I love your majesty According to my bond, no more, no less. (1.1.89 91) ... When Cordelia says that she loves Lear like a father, her honesty does not undermine her respect, but instead reveals her pure respect for their bond. Then, I will evaluate various perspectives on attaining sustainable development. Lastly, I will argue in support of two paradigm shifts necessary for serious implementation of public policy initiatives aimed at its promotion. An Introduction to Sustainable Development In 1980 and again in 1992, Presidents Jimmy Carter and George Bush faced rough economic times and partially blamed environmental policy. Both presidents men that had campaigned as environmentalists scaled back environmental regulation in hopes of stimulating the economy and their re election campaigns (Krupp). The men failed on both accounts, and compromised environmental protection for supposed economic benefits. Evidence suggests that the environment need not be pitted against economic well being as Bush, Carter, and many others have done; sustainable development is the key to ensuring well being of today s citizens as well as future generations. A 1996 essay by British Member of Parliament Chris Smith analyzed many of the jobs versus environment claims made by opponents of environmental regulation. Chris Smith states that lost jobs often attributed to environmental legislation would often have soon been eliminated anyway; in many cases, environmental policy serves as a convenient scapegoat. He cites incidents in which jobs are actually created by enactment of environmentally friendly public policy. For example, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. Socrates View On Happiness To achieve happiness, there is no set action to take in order to feel it. I feel as if happiness can be reached in an unjust society. It is up to an individual to find their own happiness. An individual has to make the best out of what they have. It has been proven time and time again, that it is okay to be different. It is when people are different when things start to change for society. When everyone stays the same, everything stays the same. Just like Socrates questioning anything and everything to attempt to fulfill his life, how the Greeks used theater to make life less serious, and the use of certain coping mechanisms used in today s society. Socrates was known to be one of the founders of western philosophy. For most of his time he was a well known character, expounding his philosophy of life in the streets of Athens to anyone who cared to listen (Grube, pg. ix). Socrates spent his life questioning absolutely anything and everything. That is how he fulfilled his life. He knew that nothing was certain, and that is what made him happy. He lived in a society that he thought was unjust, yet he found a way to have happiness. Socrates knew that what we know as humans is not accurate, and he was determined to try and figure out anything he could. He may not have known why he did what he did, or he may not know that it makes him happy, but that is what he did to pursue his definition of happiness. Throughout the Greek age, drama became a huge role in society. According to Backman,In other societies such as Egypt, there was no such thing as a play or comedy. I feel as if that society was a lot more reserved and not as open. In Greece, the use of comedy made it easier to joke about more serious issues. Just like in the Greek age, today s society uses comedy to make each other happy and feel better about what is happening. The use of theater may not directly occur, however the use social media, television, and internet to make light of the downfalls we have throughout our society. The Effects Of Socialization In The Lost Boys Of Africa Every being in their lives will experience the effects of socialization throughout their lives, and the Lost Boys of Africa are no exception. In anything, the Lost Boys, in some ways, may have been exposed to a greater number of sociological constructs than most American children their age. From the effects of dependency theory, to ethnic discrimination and prejudice that began in their homeland of Sudan and followed them to the United States, and experiencing problems with assimilation, these boys have truly showed effects of socialization. Perhaps the first sociological construct demonstrated in the film was the effects of Dependency Theory. Much of Africa has a history of being colonized by Europe at some point in its history, and in the case of Sudan, it was largely under British control. Under British rule, Sudan was essentially divided into Northern and Southern regions. While the North continued to practice its traditions and language, Christianity and the English language began to spread throughout the South. When the British left Sudan, the superpower attempted to prepare the country for self government by establishing a parliament. The problem was that this new government was established predominantly in the North with little representation of Southern Sudan. After the British left, years of conflict quickly arose and eventually lead to civil war. According to the conflict theory of dependency, Sudan was taken advantage of, then eventually left on its own. One ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Wernicke-Korsakoff Syndrome Research Paper Abstract Thiamine is an essential vitamin needed by all cells in the body. When the body lacks thiamine for an extended period of time, many problems arise, mainly in the brain and heart. Alcoholism and malnourishment are two of the leading causes of thiamine deficiency. Although fairly rare, Wernicke Korsakoff syndrome (WKS) can be a severe consequence of thiamine shortage. WKS is a neurodegenerative disease that affects the brain and disrupts the neuronal signaling. Not only does it make daily life very difficult, it can become life threatening and cause permanent damage. The lack of thiamine interrupts many biochemical pathways in the body, including the pentose phosphate pathway, glycolysis, and the Citric Acid cycle. Disrupting these pathways causes WKS to present along with multiple other complications. Introduction WKS is actually a combination of two different diseases. Wernicke s Encephalopathy is the first to appear. It is a short lived, but life threatening mental condition. It causes ocular disturbances, mental state variation, and unsteady movements and stance (Thomson, 2009). • 32. What Are The Similarities Between Achaemenid And Roman... The Roman and Achaemenid Empires are arguably the most significant empires in human history. Although separated by many years, they had countless resemblances that may have had an important role in their success. First, you can see parallels concerning their approaches to governance. Both empires were so expansive that they could not be practically controlled by one central authority. They both had analogous attitudes towards the general population, religious tolerance and were greatly influenced by the cultures they annexed into their empires. Rome and Persia paralleled in many aspects of governmental policy. They were both governed under a republic in order to manage their expansive conquered lands. Both empires were huge and well organized. According to History World International, the Persian Empire governed different conquered peoples on the principle of equal responsibilities and equal rights. If taxes were paid and no one revolted against their rule, local religion, customs, and trade would be left to the local government (Giusepi. 2004. p 1). While the Roman Empire did allow many religious and cultural freedoms as well, they did attempt to Romanize its citizens, and enslave the people they conquered. This caused an understandable amount of unrest amongst its people. Another similarity was how these empires installed a military representative in conquered lands to maintain control and report back to their Emperors (Guisepi. 2004 p 1). SAMUEL ODEDOKUN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY II OCTOBER 19, 2014 The War on Malaria About 3.3 billion people, that is about half of the world s population are at risk of contracting malaria (figure 1). Every year there are 250 million cases of malaria, and nearly 1 million deaths. That amounts to 2,732 deaths per day. Out of those million people that die every year, 800,000 of them are African children under the age of 5. To control malaria three actions need to be taken: insecticides need to be used to decrease the vector population, people have to be educated as to how to prevent the vector from reproducing, and anti malarial drugs need to be distributed. To understand the vector and what the vector is, scientists had to first discover what the parasite was and how it worked. It was not until the year 1880 that French Physician Charles Laveran discovered that Malaria was caused by a protozoan in the genus Plasmodium (Malaria, 2013) Figure 1: Malaria endemic areas around the world. That beautiful art piece was the Bay of Naples by Claude Joseph Vernet. This piece stood out to me because of the beautiful scenery that is displayed and the deep serenity the piece gives me when I look at it. The Bay of Naples is a painting of a landscape that captures the daily life of the bay. The materials used for this painting was oil on canvas. Claude Joseph Vernet made a painting that brings your attention to the foreground. In the front, there is a boat being boarded. Some of the people that are not boarding the boat are standing by the sea. In the sea, some boats are sailing off in the distance. One of the boats in the distance is a large boat that gives the illusion of being three dimensional. The form gives this illusion because of the reflection in the sea. If you look in the lower right, you can see the light from the sun illuminating the sky. This light is hidden behind a large mountain that also has a three dimensional form. There is also lots of texture in the painting. Some texture is seen in the mountains and ground giving a rough look, and some is seen in the sea in the form of ripples. On top of the mountain in the lower right, there is greenery that has an illusion of being light and feathery. In that mountain, there is an arch that makes the other side visible. In the far distance, you can see a faint ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The Last Judgement Tympanum At St-Lazare Analysis The Last Judgment tympanum at Saint Lazare is also incredibly significant due to the fact that no other tympanum from the Romanesque is so boldly and recognizably claimed by the artist. In the middle of the composition is the phrase Gislebertus hoc fecit , which roughly translates to Gislebertus made this and serves as the alleged artist s signature. As mentioned previously, few of the large stoneworks from this era can be directly linked to a specific person. The signature left behind at Saint Lazare can be easily interpreted as a big display of artistic confidence, a quality more frequently seen from master artists of the Renaissance and onward. During this period, Romanesque sculptures attached to architecture were relegated in status to secondary importance to stonemasons, and the tympanums were seen as very separate objects. By placing his signature here, Gislebertus claims the piece as his own work and firmly establishes himself as an artist rather than simply a sculptor. There are historians who question whether the signature left behind is actually indicative of patronage rather than the artist responsible for it; a patron placing themselves within a piece ... This exact orientation of the saved and damned figures is showcased in nearly every depiction of the Last Judgment, no matter the period or year of its creation. Within the ranks of the saved are varying degrees of ecstasy and rapture on the faces of the figures, all looking towards their savior Christ. Conversely, the damned are depicted in various states of intense agony; the figures are all bent into several extreme, angular and anguished poses amplifying the severity of their final ... • 46. George Orwell Politics And The English Language Summary Written and spoken language is what sets humans apart from other animals as intellectuals, but if our language is declining, is the intellect of our society going down the same slope. In his essay Politics and the English Language, written in the post World War II era, George Orwell discusses the direction our English language is going in and how the manipulation of language is being used in politics. In the essay Orwell states, the English language is in a bad way (Orwell in Shea, Scanlon, Aufses 707). I agree with his statement, due to the affect the music industry is having on teens today and the rhetoric used in the recent election. In his essay, Orwell discusses the different factors that have caused the deterioration of the English language and the way in which it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Today we live in a country in which rhetoric can make the most controversial ideas normal, and can take a modern and progressive America back a couple steps. Some say the recent election has been won by clever use of rhetoric; to whom that rhetoric appealed to is a whole other story. During the last election, a video of Donald Trump was exposed, in which Trump said some statements that question his respect for women. When asked to respond to his own comments in the video, Trump dismissed it as locker room talk (Farenthold). The problem with this response is that the audience is not told what locker room talk is, and why it is okay to say disrespectful statements about women in a locker room. The truth is that this response did not explain anything on Trumps end. Instead it was a vague and meaningless phrase that distracted the audience from Trump s actions. This strategy is becoming more and more common in politics, signifying a decline in our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analyzing a poem is different from analyzing statistical data. Both are related to analyzing but the mind has to be aware of each situation to apply in any cases. For me, one of the most important habit that I have learned the most is responsible risks. Being greedy and wanted to be success in two categories is not going to work, I have to decide on letting go of one and remain focus on the one that I am planning to take the risk on. I have lived with my mom since I was born and until I grow up. A period of time that mom has given me the love and I have always promised that I will never leave the warmth of this love. I still remember the day I was twelve, my Dad has come back from the United States and offered me a cruel but also full of opportunities question. The question has been in my head and I was debating with myself for the longest time. Go to the United States with him and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
