History Of The Delian League
In my perspective, the Delian League was both successful and unsuccessful, but were by and large
more successful than not.
The Delian League was mutual alliance and protection against the Persians after the first Persian War,
mainly to make the Persians pay for the invasion and to free the Greeks that were under Persian rule
(Gill, 2016, 2). All members of the League contributed both silver and ships to the war efforts, but it
was Athens that dominated (Brand, n.d., pp. 28). With Athens leading with a strong naval military, the
Delian League pushed back the Persian s second invasion of Greece and were able to liberate Thrace
and the Aegean of Persian strongholds (Gill, 2016, 11).
Although the Delian League was successful in holding off the Persian invasions, Athens had taken
advantage of their naval military might. To this extent, the formation of the Delian League was
unsuccessful. The members of the Delian League grew tired of Athens abusive power, which
eventually led to the Peloponnesian War led by Sparta against Athens. The eventual result of the war
devastated and humbled Athens (Brand, n.d., pp. 28). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was a common judiciary which was always to the reach of the member citizens of the Athens.
They ensured that this form of government was accessible to the Aegean. Above all, there was an
extensive rebuilding of the Athen s buildings and the entire city. This was started by the Pericles and
Parthenon whicg the League treasury financied.
‎
In conclusion, I found that the formation of the Delian League was more successful than not. Together,
all members, led by Athens navy, were able to benefit from pushing off the Persian invasions, which
also resulted in some city states being liberated from Persian rule. The only ones that were
unsuccessful later on were the Athenians, which was the result of their own abusive actions.

Eclipse Is An Open Source Integrated Development...
Milestone 12: Case Study Eclipse
Yujia Xie
I. Introduction
Eclipse is an open source Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for almost every computer
programming language over a dozen platforms (Mac, Linux, Windows, etc.). In fact, it is one of the
most popular IDEs nowadays for multiple programming languages, especially Java. Back in 2001,
Eclipse 1.0 came out as a framework, a flexible architecture that served as the building tool for
developers, providing a variety of accessible toolkits, private or public, to ease to process of
programming. Over the course of time, Eclipse takes in developers feedbacks and enhances its
accessibility and usability, releasing new versions with more functionality (i.e. Java Development
Tools, Plug in Development Environment, Rich Client Platform, etc.).
One of the core ideas behind Eclipse is to allow users (in this case developers) to write and share
modules (i.e. toolkits), different from the previous IDEs that hides their individual building classes.
For example, the pioneer Plug in Development Environment (PDE) for Eclipse was designed
specifically for this purpose, allowing developers to build and test their own plugins that would later
benefit the performance of Eclipse. Eclipse provide an environment that individual users can
manipulate the framework to facilitate their daily work. Like most of the open source software,
originally, Eclipse was written by a group of paid, full time developer, setting up the fundamental
structure at

How To Write An Essay On American Sniper
American Sniper is an autobiography written by Chris Kyle describing his life in the war and how his
experiences affected his life after the war. In the first 5 chapters Chris describes his start in the Navy,
his life at home and in war, and becoming a sniper. Chris Kyle was raised in Texas as a cowboy, who
dropped out of college two months before graduation because he was accepted into the Navy Seals.
Chris had to go through brutal Seal training and through this he discovered his mental toughness, and
what it was like to be a Navy Seal. Eventually Chris s dream comes true and he is placed into a seal

Freedom In College Campuses
Freedom, that is what is on every college freshman s mind when they step onto their campus, I
certainly did. There is that moment of realization and you can taste what feels like the beginning of
your life. You are promised opportunities and a guaranteed a better future, whether that means
climbing up the economic ladder or enriching your knowledge, there is a clear understanding that
these years will be your best. Although sometimes they are your worst, what colleges do not tell you,
or even what they do. The lies we are fed and the manipulation that we are unaware of is a growing
matter among campuses. I have seen cases shut down and thrown away just so that the school can say
it has low rape rates. I have seen numerous girls who once

Substance Abuse In Social Work
The continuous development of practice is important in the social work profession. Despite the field
and expertise one is in, they all use theoretical practice and must develop their own. The preferred
theory will mirror the populations served and re occurring crises that arise. At this social work student

of drugs that are used in excess to activate a reward system in the brain (American Psychological
Association, 2013). People who exhibit an addiction experience a cognitive, behavioral, and/or

Persuasive Essay On Organ Donation
Alec Peltekian
Ms. Branin
Honors English 11, Period 3

As one life ends a new beginning is created for another. Thousands of lives are saved each year in the
United States alone just by organ donation. With each donor passing away and donating their organs
to those in peril, children with heart conditions or adults with liver disease are given another chance to
live a new healthy life. It is the definition of charity and it gives so many desperate people the hope
they need. However, such a beautiful and giving process can be quickly altered into a dark process for
those involved with the Black Market. Many types or organs, often stolen from unsuspecting victims
of Dark Web crime, are sold on the Black Market for large amounts ... Show more content on

This is the exact opposite reason for those operating along the evil networks of the Dark Web. The
Web s main priority is to make high risk deals and investments to bring the highest reward for its
salespersons. The risk is run so high that is breaks all governing bodies laws in the process. Sites have
been known to sell illegal organs for large sums of money including a heart [that] will set you back
$65,000 (VICE 6). The purchase is simply just this immense fortune and no insurance or paperwork
for the exchange. As stated before, the purpose of this method is strictly making money. The Dark
Web is its own sick and twisted economy for those willing to do what it takes for money. Doctors must
consider and weigh the ethical background of how they receive every organ from a willing donor, or
unsuspecting victim.
Another legitimate concern in this field, is where the organ came from and the security one has
knowing that it came from a healthy and well suited environment. If the organ was put under harmful
stress by the previous human, the organ might fail to function correctly. This is why organ donation
keeps a large sample size when it comes to the volunteer pool. If someone does have a deficiency or
disease affecting organs, they have opportunities to help as one s medical condition at the time of
death will determine what organs and tissue can be donated (MedLine Plus 1). This safe way of
donation allows

A Response to Embroidery by Ray Bradbury Essays
A Response to Embroidery by Ray Bradbury
The short story Embroidery , written by Ray Bradbury is one, which could be classed as a science
fiction story with some political aspects to it. Embroidery ends in apocalyptic terms, where an atom
bomb is dropped. Written in the 1960 s meant that the cold war was still going on and being hit by an
atomic bomb was highly possible. I think that because of this a general reader reading this story in the
time it was written would have found this story frightening and at that time the story may haven even
been slightly controversial.
From a feminists point of view this text would be looked upon with quite a lot of interest. Firstly, the
short story was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I ll just have to rip the whole pattern, practically, to fix it right. The man is ripped out entirely from the
scene, rather then just having his face corrected. This could signify women s everlasting struggle with
men, and also on a more gender equality related issue, how these women are in control of the men in
their lives, choosing not to have them at all, implying that men are an almost annoyance to women and
they would much rather have them out of their lives then have them as they are. These women seem to
be living fine as they are however their situation is hardly the scene pictured in the embroidery.
A feminist reader may dislike this story because firstly, the women in the story could be though of as
stereotypical. The embroidery itself serves as an activity commonly associated with women and I
think that a feminist reader would rather dismiss these stereotypes. Also, the story has a political
agenda behind it as well as being fictional. It was written during the arms race of the fifties between
the US and Russia when an atomic bomb hitting either one of these

Surprise, Security, And The American Experience
Review of surprise, security, and the American experience
There are a lot of things analyze the shifts in American foreign policy have been written before the
famous day America lose it sense of security Sept 11. Thing like news reports, articles and books.
Theses are some of those books :Rogue Nation, The Bubble of American Supremacy, Top Secret
America: The Rise of the New American Security State.
There are some books who are against America that don t hesitate to compare it to evil countries like
Germany during ww2. Then there are book that claim that the CIA was actually behind the 9/11
attacks. Then there is Surprise, Security, and the American Experience, a non bias attempt to analyze
America foreign policy in its real context and without any unwanted criticism. The author is John
Lewis Gaddis, a historian of the cold war, who taught at Ohio University and Yale.
Now in Surprise, Security, and the American Experience, there were three big shifts in the history of
united states foreign policy, each one was by a surprise attack on America. The first one happen when
the British sacked Washington on August 24, 1814. This exposure of America led John Quincy
Adams, as President, to come up with ways the U.S. Should define it self.
Adams was aware of the fact that the United States had a lot of borders to defend, but only limited
means with which to defend them. So Adams can up with the idea that the us should get as much land

Why Is The Bayeux Tapestry Reliable
Part A The Bayeux Tapestry as a historical source The Bayeux Tapestry is a primary source. The
Bayeux Tapestry is a primary source of history because it was created just after the Battle of Hasting,
which took place on the 14th of October 1066 A.D/C.E. The Bayeux Tapestry was created in the 11th
Century. The person who commissioned the Bayeux Tapestry was Bishop Odo. Bishop Odo was the
half brother of Duke William, who was the leader of the Normans. He created the Bayeux Tapestry in
honour of the victory for the Normans in the Battle of Hastings. The perspective that is not given in
the Bayeux Tapestry is the English perspective. The English perspective is not in the Bayeux Tapestry
because it wasn t the English who created the Bayeux Tapestry and it was in the Norman perspective.
The accuracy of the Bayeux Tapestry is not very accurate because it is only one side of the story, the
Norman side. One aspect of daily life in the Bayeux Tapestry is that people had jobs and they worked
for money. Another aspect of daily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

missing from the missing part of the Bayeux Tapestry is that what happened after the battle of
Hastings like celebrations and also King William s coronation on the 25th of December 1066. I think
one of the missing parts is Williams coronation because when you look at the Bayeux Tapestry it just
has the date and not what actually happened. I think this is what missing because the part that is
missing is from the end of Bayeux Tapestry and the coronation and celebration would have been after

Total School Cluster Grouping Model
The Total School Cluster Grouping (TSCG) model is a service delivery model that uses the strategies
usually found in gifted programs and applies it to include the achievement and performance of all the
students in a school. TSCG works well with the Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM) and the
Renzulli s Three Ring Conception of Giftedness (Gentry and Fugate, 2013, p. 213). This model has a
focus on the enhancement of every students strengths, skills, and confidence, using grouping strategies
and enriched curriculum (Gentry and Fugate, 2013, p.213). Gifted and Talented students are placed in
inclusive classrooms with students of varying achievement levels, and it is up to the teacher to

The pullout method that this school is using is more of a means to an ends . Most of their gifted
students are not receiving services throughout the majority of the week. With the limited amount of
the time they have for pullout, the TSCG model presented would work better. However, incorporating
TSCM at Lockland will not be an easy road, and it should be implement slowly, in stages. First,
Lockland needs to have better professional development opportunities for their teachers. In TSCM,
every teacher is using gifted education practices and needs to be confident in implementing them in
their classrooms (Gentry Fugate, 2013, p.221). When teachers are more educated on these matters,
they can begin to differentiate to gifted students in their regular classrooms more successfully. With
this in class support and the pullout program, Lockland should see better assessment results. Finally,
teachers and administration can sit down and form cluster groups that consider the needs of all the
students, and eliminate the pullout time. Lockland can use the teachers that were originally leading
pullout to teach the high ability class, assuming that they are the best to do so, or they can be used as
gifted push in teachers providing additional support in the general classroom. Considering, the failure
of the pullout program, I believe that the TSGC model would be worth the time and effort
implementing at

Chartists and Chartism Essays
Chartists and Chartism
Chartism was the name of a variety of protest movements in England during the 1830s and 40s, which
aimed to bring about change in social and economic conditions through political reform. Its name
comes from the People s Charter, a six point petition presented to the House of Commons with the
hope of having it made law. The six point included annual parliaments, universal manhood suffrage,
abolition of the property qualification for members of the House of Commons, the secret ballot, equal
electoral districts, and salaries for members of Parliament.
This was the first independent working class movement in the world, that is, not simply sporadic
uprisings or agitation, and arose after the Reform Bill of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Convention then proclaimed a general strike, but many had no employer to strike against, and the
Convention broke up after riots in various parts of England and Wales, with many leaders arrested and
troops sent in by the government. A similar petition was presented in 1842, another bad time, with
even more signatures, and was again firmly rejected. Again there were strikes; again leaders were
jailed.
1848, the year Mary Barton was published, saw a final demonstration by the Chartists. This time they
had collected over 5,000,000 signatures and the presentation to the Parliament was attended with great
ceremony; an impressive parade carried the wagon loads of signatures to the House of Commons. This
was the year of revolution in Europe there had been revolts in Paris, Vienna (3), Venice, Berlin, Milan,
Rome, and Czechoslovakia and the British government was desperately afraid of large scale
demonstrations. Many troops were deployed in London and the petition failed again, which brought
about the virtual end of Chartism.
` The supporters of Chartism were from different working class groups, but all were victims of the
Industrial Revolution. One group consisted of the older handicrafts and domestic skills those who
worked on commission in their homes, at looms or knitting frames, under the so called putting out
system, where their materials were supplied by a factor or middleman who later came to collect the
finished work. The other main group was

Security Breach at TJX

While it is known that all retailers, large and small, are vulnerable to attacks, several factors including
people, work process, and technology require attention so as to prevent another major attack from
hitting TJX.
The people associated with the attack who need attention are the top level executives and, more
importantly, the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard

not just a technology issue. As seen by the attack, an IT security breach can mean hundreds of ... Show

2. How should the company s IT security be improved and strengthened? What should its short term
priorities and long term plans be?
Hiring Richel as the Chief Security Officer was one big step towards a better IT security program at
TJX; he s an executive who understands the harsh and costly consequences of a weak IT security
system and has plans to implement the strongest system possible.
Short term priorities include 1) addressing Mary Smith s letter and taking care of the $5,000 theft, 2)
implement network monitoring, 3) implement logs, 4) encrypt ALL data and minimize the time where
data goes from scrambled to unscrambled , and 5) update all components of the system, both hardware
and software, to the most modern and secure in the industry.
Long term priorities should include minimizing risk by making everyone in the company, not just
top level executives, aware of the potential of another massive attack on their system. The reason why
I think store clerks and managers should be made aware of their respective branch s IT system
(wireless, kiosks, card swipers, etc) is so that they know what an attack looks like when it is
happening. More times than not, the invasion is happening right in front of the cashier s face yet they
have absolutely no idea.

On April 4th, about 86 people were killed in a chemical attack in a town in Syria. While most people
were sleeping warplanes, suspected to be from the Syrian military, dropped bombs full of toxic
chemicals on the rebel filled town, Khan Sheikhoun. The innocent people were exposed to a chemical
nerve agent called Sarin. Sarin causes people to have difficulty breathing because it makes the lungs
heavy and causes blood to slowly fill the lungs. The Syrian President, Bashar al Assad, denies using
any chemical or toxic substance . Syria s close ally, Russia, claims that Syria attacked a terrorist group

The Musical And Cultural Context Of Bollywood Music
The Musical and Cultural Context of Bollywood Music In my interview with Sumanyu Gupta, we
discussed the many facets of Indian Bollywood music. We discussed several of these aspects at length
including the unique storytelling structure of Bollywood songs, the deep meaning and role of
Bollywood as an emotional escape for Indian people, as well as the growing amount of western
influence heard in Bollywood music. I will begin my paper by briefly discussing some key
instruments and integral concepts utilized in Bollywood, followed by the cultural significance of

components (_____). For example, Bollywood music is set up as its own story. Sumanyu explained it

often than not, Bollywood music is connected to some film, with its own plot line and story. Because
of this distinct story within a story aspect, as Sumanyu describes it, most songs are able to stand on
their own, yet still maintain a powerful and meaningful message. Additionally, there are several
instruments that are often heard in Bollywood music. I was told that the tabla, hollow drums that

The Company s Supply Chain Management Processes
Before suggesting new initiatives for Air Products, this study will first discuss the company s Supply
Chain Management processes, processes that could be greatly improved by BPR. A business process is
a collection of linked tasks that result in the delivery of a service or product to a client. A business
process is also understood to be a set or activities and tasks that once completed, will accomplish an

I will make recommendations for how this business process can be reengineered in accordance to the
company s values of quality, innovation, and service through Business Process Reengineering (BPR)
(Hammer, 110). BPR is a management approach involving a fundamental rethinking and radical
design of the business process to achieve dramatic improvements in critical contemporary measures of

company s processes that exist within and across the organizations. The key to BPR is for the
company to examine its business processes from a clean slate perspective and determine how they can
best construct these processes to improve how they conduct business. This perspective enables the
designers of the business processes to dissociate themselves from the current process and focus on
developing a new process.
The goals BPR seeks to accomplish can be achieved by taking steps such as 1) subsuming information

Support of Foucault s Pendulum
The Foucault s Pendulum was named after French Physicist Leon Foucault (Sommeria). He created
the experiment to prove that the Earth is in a constant state of rotation. The experiment was simple, a
Pendulum was created with a weight on the end of a wire which was attached to a fixed point on the
ceiling, once set in motion it continued to move and slowly rotated its position. The use of the
Foucault Pendulum was successful and ended several millennial of argument over whether or not the
Earth was actually in the rotation, with a simple repeatable experiment. Thus, the Foucault Pendulum
experiment that proved the Earth rotates on an axis in an understandable way. The Foucault Pendulum
successfully proved that the Earth is rotating and is still used and accepted as proof even today. ...

Once set in motion the Pendulum stays in motion because of the force of gravity acting upon it. The

were multiple pegs on the ground that were knocked over when the Pendulum rotated position
(Foucault Pendulum). The way the Pendulum was released would not cause an experimental error by
adding direction in the way it would if a person released it. Pendulums are known to swing in straight
planes so the rotation must be caused by the Earth beneath it. The experiment was also repeated
multiple times by various scientists to prove the credibly. With multiple testings and repeated
experimental trials the Pendulum always behaved the same way. The Pendulum stayed in motion and
continues to swing rotating around the room. The Pendulum mimics the way our Earth rotates proving

Myofascial Release Case Study
Active Release Technique (Myofascial Release): A Rose by Another Name is Still a Rose In all
fairness, other forms of touch therapy have very little scientific evidence behind them. The caution
here is primarily based on the understanding that this technique needs to be performed by a registered
and certified practitioner who has completed the training program. Let s take a closer look at some of
the specific findings from the case studies and pilot studies that have been conducted over the last 15
plus years. In addition it is recommended that athletes and those looking to recover from serious
musculoskeletal injury consult their primary health care providers and explore other forms of
myofascial and soft tissue techniques before deciding what will be their best course of treatment. ...

Cultural Differences In Tayo s Ceremony
One of the main civic and moral lessons that is displayed throughout Edgar Huntly is the mistreatment
of the Native American culture by the hands of the white, privileged and superior culture. This is
something that is seen through the eyes of Edgar throughout the second half of the novel, where he
believes that the Native Americans are savages with no rules or responsibilities who mindlessly killed
those that he loved for fun, with no rational decision making abilities. The irony that is found within
this, is the fact that the savage, irrational killer turns out to be Edgar himself, who convinces himself
that he killed those Natives out of self defense in order to protect himself from those who have no
rational abilities to protect themselves. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tayo struggles in defending his cultural identity because of his white and Native American cultural
background. The moral lesson that both novels struggle in properly addressing is the ability to accept
different cultures regardless of their background and accepting individuals regardless. Edgar is
judgemental based on the Native Americans lifestyles, not only because of his own prejudices but also
his own in regards to the message that has been established based on his culture. This is not the same
case for Tayo in Ceremony but the lack of cultural appreciation and understanding of cultural
differences is a problem that is addressed. The civic lessons that are addressed involves personal
responsibilities in serving justice and facing an entire community independently instead of as a whole
and a team. Edgar takes it upon himself to find Waldegraves murderer, regardless of the fact that it is
not his responsibility. He believes it is his civic duty in order to bring forth justice. This civic
responsibility is addressed in Ceremony, when Tayo is forced into WWII, he is forced to bring justice
to his country as apart of a team instead of a sole individual against an entire

Solar energy is a gateway that will ideally lead us far from our petroleum subordinate sources. The
significant issue with sun based board innovation is that the efficiencies for sun based power
frameworks are still poor and the expenses per kilo watt hour (Kwh) are not focused, much of the
time, to rival conventional sources in the use. Solar

The Impact Of Genes On A Person
The impact of genes on a person is a well known assumption among people who study genetics. When
you think about it, who we are and how we act is based off of our genetic makeup. Behavioral
genetics studies the inheritance of behavioral traits. There are some people who are just nice and
easygoing people while others behave in an unmoral way or are considered anti social. Behavior
genetics is that branch that is trying to figure out what factors play a part in how people act and what
genes lead to diverse array of behavior. Not only could genetic information be inherited by a person s
parent but how much of their behavior is also determined by the environment, such as their living
conditions, the people they surround themselves with, and other influences that may surround them.
Behavior genetics environmental factors can be separated into two categories, shared and nonshared.
Shared environment can be considered the environment that is shared by members in the same family,
which can include the same parents or socioeconomic class. Nonshared environment is the one that is
exclusive to an individual and incorporates their own peer group or hobbies not shared with family
members. When you read a lot about behavioral genetics there is a lot of talk about Nature vs.
Nurture, with genetics being the nature and the environment being nurture. Since I feel that a person s
behavior can be affected by both I can understand why this theory goes along with this topic. In order

I Am A True Believer That Commonwealth Is The Best Option...
I am a true believer that Commonwealth is the most perfect option for my homeland, Puerto Rico.
There has been an ongoing debate on the political status of Puerto Rico for years on whether it should
be a state or become independent, but I think it should be put to an end now because I am going to
prove to you the reason why it is best for our island to be a commonwealth. No matter what anyone
says I know that for my own island, we wouldn t survive as a state or as an independent nation,
therefore commonwealth is the best option for us. Since July 1952, Puerto Rico has been a
commonwealth of the U.S, which means that we are colonized under the United States but are still
able to be self governing. Commonwealth is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think this is the most important aspect of being a commonwealth because I don t have to sacrifice my
religion, culture, or language which is something very important to us, Puerto Ricans. Due to the
Jones Act of 1917, we were granted a U.S citizenship, allowing us to travel back and forth between the
U.S and Puerto Rico (Perez y Gonzalez 2011: 1843). This is very important to me and my family,
otherwise my family living in the United States would not be able to come and see us all the time and
vice versa! Therefore, I would never want to lose this benefit that the U.S has given us. The New
Progressive Party consists of those who want Puerto Rico to become a state. This is such a bad option
for an island like Puerto Rico because if we were to become a part of the United States, English would
have to be our primary language and why would I want to sacrifice my language just to become a
state? English is taught in Puerto Rican schools, but it is a foreign language to them. Less than 20% of
Puerto Ricans can speak English fluently, which would make integration into United States culture
very difficult. Not only does it affect language, but it also affects our Puerto Rican culture. I have no
doubt that becoming a state would cause a culture loss because of the assimilation that will happen.
One example of cultural integration would probably be that the Spanish language would

Questions On Financial Data Reported Essay
In this paper I will demonstrate the use of financial data reported in SEC s Edgar database and data
reported by Finance.Yahoo.com (Figure 2a and 2b) to access the risk and return while accessing
EMCOR Group Inc. stock performance and compare the performance of EMCOR with the S P 500.
EMCOR Group Inc.
EMCOR Group stock prices have fluctuated greatly over the last ten years, the lowest closing stock
price occurred in February, 2009 at a rate of $15.41, the highest recorded closing for EMCOR stock
occurred in October, 2015 at $50.40. (Table 1) EMCOR has been a publically offered stock since
1994, the year they were founded. EMCOR began paying dividends in January of 1997 and
experienced its first stock split in February of 2006 and again in July of 2007. (Figure 1)
Stock and Market Risk and Return
EMCOR has in the last ten years had an average return of 14%, which is significantly higher than the
average stock return of 6.9% for the S P 500.The standard deviation for EMCOR was 24.3%, while
the S P 500 was 18.6%. EMCOR s standard deviation is in line with publicly traded firms which are
typically 20% to 30%. (Brigham Houston, 2016, pp. 267 268) A lower standard of deviation is
generally preferred when investments are expected to generate similar returns, as the stock with a
lower standard of deviation is thought to be less risky. However, EMCOR s coefficient of variation
was 1.74 compared to the S P 500 with a coefficient of variation of 2.71 during the same time period.

The Pandemic Of Influenza And Vaccination
Every year, millions of people start talking about the influenza virus and getting their vaccines as the
flu season approaches, which starts around the October November period and reaches its peak
between December and March. Therefore, public health officials around the world and in the U.S in
particular are constantly challenged by properly preparing for the annual influenza dilemma, given
that this viruses, and other respiratory viruses, are a serious health threat to the U.S population and the
world as a whole. Furthermore, what makes the influenza virus even more challenging to control is
that it can mutate rapidly and reassort to form new strains, having the ability to reside in multiple
animal hosts. In fact, many scientists and researchers have been doing in depth intensive research so
as to understand the mechanism behind this unique characteristic of the virus, try to find new ways to
control it, and explore different areas of protection and vaccination.
Before jumping into talking about the different features of Influenza, ranging from its pathogenesis
and virulence, to the transmission and treatment of the disease, it is necessary to mention the slight but
important difference between seasonal influenza, pandemic influenza and zoonotic influenza.
What is seasonal Influenza?
First of all, the name Influenza is derived from the Latin word for influence , and it is an infectious
disease that is caused by the RNA viruses from the Orthomyxoviridae family:

Alan Lomax s Influence On Modern Popular Music
In this essay I am going to give a brief history of John and Alan Lomax, discussing how they came to
be involved with the collection of cowboy ballads. I will then go on to talk about their musical
endeavours between the years of 1930 1980, and how their work had influence on modern popular
music before concluding with my opinion on their impact on music as we know it today and how they

John Lomax was a known collector of folk music, particularly cowboy ballads. Before Lomax, no one
had really thought of cowboys as a source for folk songs. In his autobiography he says that he first

Some tree species were only prevalent at the perennial site compared to the non perennial site. Higher
abundance on cottonwoods could reflect their deeper rooting systems and thus more reliable water
resources. A study conducted on Pacific Northwest Trees showed that the larger trees were reliant on
greater amounts of stored water for higher levels of photosynthesis, furthermore there were different
percentages of water use per tree species (Phillips, 2003). This supports our findings as some tree
species were host to more mistletoe than others. This may due to the different amount of water the
trees absorb and use. Larger trees such as Populus fremontii. Tree specific factors may affect

Introduction Of A Foreign Species
Biodiversity Introduction
For once in history, the introduction of a foreign species has had paramount importance throughout
their evolution for many terrestrial ecosystems. Apis Mellifera also commonly known as the Western
Honey bee, is a vital component to global biodiversity. The honey bee provides ecosystem services of
considerable ecological significance for the reproduction of plants and for the pollination of many
economically important crops. Although the place of origin of Apis Mellifera is unclear, North
America was introduced to the Western Honey bee around 1622 by European colonists (Weber, E.
2012). Amongst the eight species in the genus Apis, Apis Mellifera is the most widely valued honey
bee in the United States(citation). Apis Mellifera live in nests, called a hive, and typically house 40,00
bees, which are divided into three different types of adult bees: Queen, Worker, Drone(Winston, M. L.,
1987). Majority of the bees living in the beehive are Worker bees that provide majority of the
fundamental processes needed to sustain the beehive. Honey bees consume processed nectar (honey)
and pollen (bee bread) which are both found in Angiosperms (flowering plants). Nectar, which bees
convert to honey serves as a primary source of carbohydrates (Winston, M. L., 1987). This provides
honey bees energy for flight and product for colony maintenance. Honey bees will die within a few
days if they do not have a surplus abundance of honey (Winston, M. L., 1987). Pollen is

Forgiveness in Post-Genocide Rwanda
As said in Ephesians 4:32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in
Christ forgave you. After the genocide, which took the lives of countless loved ones, Rwandans re
found their faith in order to forgive their wrongdoers. Moreover, many of the Rwandan s needed to
forgive each other for their crimes in order to deal with the pain of losing their family members.
Rwanda is a small country where the individuals depend upon each other for the basic needs in life.
Once the genocide had ended, the government needed its citizens to cooperate with each other and
forgive in order to restore peace to the country. For the Rwandans, forgiveness is a way to self heal,
reconnect with God and to help the government become one again.
In the African nation of Rwanda, two tribes started a genocide which took the lives of more than
800,000 people. The Hutus and the Tutsis were enemies for generations; however the everyday
bickering and blank threats snowballed into a catastrophe. The genocide spread throughout the country
with overwhelming speed and violence. Everyone, from average citizens to high standing priests, took
part in murdering their neighbors and friends. After years of murders and torture, the Tutsis took
control of Rwanda in July of 1994 and ended the genocide. Afterwards, citizens started to seek
revenge and closure for their loved ones who had been taken from them.
Due to the high number of people who took part in the genocide killings, numerous

The study of the relationship between Chinese stock market and macro economy: Can Chinese stock
market imply macro economy?
1.Motivation
Researches concerning on macro economy and stock markets of established markets have been widely
studied in the past. Early studies in this area support the argument that stock market returns are
influenced by economic announcements ( Hardouvelis, 1988 ). Additionally, authors such as Levine

market is still very volatile overtime. Thus, problems that whether the Chinese stock market really has
the ability to react macro economy or how well the stock market can fit the macro economy still need

Workplace Discrimination And Affirmative Action
Abstract
Discrimination is an issue that has been debated for hundreds of years. It is a subject that is
continuously researched and relentlessly looking for resolutions to amend the problems that occur.
There are a myriad of types of discrimination but the main focus of this paper is on workplace
discrimination and the effects affirmative action has on it.
Workplace discrimination transpires when an employee suffers from unfavorable or unfair treatment
due to race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other legally protected characteristic
(Fevre, Grainger, and Brewer, 2011). The journal articles examined present different approaches and
views concerning workplace discrimination, unethical activities in the workplace, and affirmative
action effects and perceptions.
Workplace Discrimination and Ethics
An abundant number of studies have been conducted on workplace discrimination. However, a
multitude of results and perceptions regarding the topic are suggested in this research. To understand
how workplace discrimination, unethical treatment, and affirmative action affect those who experience
it vs. those who do not experience it, all forms of discrimination should be studied. This paper
examines Kravitz and Klineberg (2000) research against other workplace discrimination and
affirmative action to propose more research should be conducted to better understand the how
workplace discrimination affects others.

Feminist Perspective Of Feminism
There have been many instances of feminists reacting to popular understandings and theories in their
fields. That is one of the glorious things about feminism; while some feminist literature can feel
abstract and hard to understand, it is often concerning real things happening in the world and offering
real ways to implement change. This is perhaps because of feminists dedication to fairness and truth.
In delving into women s and gender studies, one can see that notions once thought of as True, are not
in fact so; for example, notions relating to sex, gender, and expression. With notions such as those
which are considered to be so essential to our lived experiences being questioned, it begs further
questioning, such as: what are feminist notions of objectivity and truths and how can we work toward
these in a positively consequential way? Feminist notions of truth are more objective than traditional
scientific approaches because they look at problems more fully.
In mainstream science, objectivity is thought of as being without bias or emotion, with the rationale
being that the facts will speak for themselves and produce an ultimate and ideal Truth. This singular
Truth is thought to be essential and able to be discovered by all people, given that they have the proper
tools. As Alison Jaggar stated in Love and Knowledge, this is neither possible nor desirable in many
instances. Emotional concepts inform our realities, thereby giving different people different

The Resistance Workers Of France
For the Resistance workers of France, gender had a defining impact on the roles and jobs open to
women where they were both utilized and supported. They played a key role in the Resistance of
Vichy France from a scattering of leadership roles, to support roles, to secretarial and liaison work.
These women were galvanized and motivated for different reasons: for the political, to moral, to
patriotic or for the desire to do something. Even women beyond the network of the official groups of
Resistance worked to shelter, protect and support Allies, their communities and Resistance efforts.
Thousands of Women during the war, in the Resistance or not, followed and manipulated the
stereotypes and limitations of women in the era to better service their goals. However these womanly
standards curbed which positions they could fill and what respect they received. In prewar France, the
stereotypical women were the homemakers of the family. Though many were formally educated, few
professional jobs were open to them. After the France s physical and morale collapse in the first
months of World War II, the government propaganda proclaimed a new form of masculinity. A society
built on a foundation of family, gender and biological distinct roles with a male dominated hierarchy.
The antithesis of male ideal being a women who was submissive, ignorant and the home maker. These
feminine ideals and values funneled many women to a support or secondary role in the Resistance. For

  • 2. History Of The Delian League In my perspective, the Delian League was both successful and unsuccessful, but were by and large more successful than not. The Delian League was mutual alliance and protection against the Persians after the first Persian War, mainly to make the Persians pay for the invasion and to free the Greeks that were under Persian rule (Gill, 2016, 2). All members of the League contributed both silver and ships to the war efforts, but it was Athens that dominated (Brand, n.d., pp. 28). With Athens leading with a strong naval military, the Delian League pushed back the Persian s second invasion of Greece and were able to liberate Thrace and the Aegean of Persian strongholds (Gill, 2016, 11). Although the Delian League was successful in holding off the Persian invasions, Athens had taken advantage of their naval military might. To this extent, the formation of the Delian League was unsuccessful. The members of the Delian League grew tired of Athens abusive power, which eventually led to the Peloponnesian War led by Sparta against Athens. The eventual result of the war devastated and humbled Athens (Brand, n.d., pp. 28). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There was a common judiciary which was always to the reach of the member citizens of the Athens. They ensured that this form of government was accessible to the Aegean. Above all, there was an extensive rebuilding of the Athen s buildings and the entire city. This was started by the Pericles and Parthenon whicg the League treasury financied. ‎ In conclusion, I found that the formation of the Delian League was more successful than not. Together, all members, led by Athens navy, were able to benefit from pushing off the Persian invasions, which also resulted in some city states being liberated from Persian rule. The only ones that were unsuccessful later on were the Athenians, which was the result of their own abusive actions. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Eclipse Is An Open Source Integrated Development... Milestone 12: Case Study Eclipse Yujia Xie I. Introduction Eclipse is an open source Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for almost every computer programming language over a dozen platforms (Mac, Linux, Windows, etc.). In fact, it is one of the most popular IDEs nowadays for multiple programming languages, especially Java. Back in 2001, Eclipse 1.0 came out as a framework, a flexible architecture that served as the building tool for developers, providing a variety of accessible toolkits, private or public, to ease to process of programming. Over the course of time, Eclipse takes in developers feedbacks and enhances its accessibility and usability, releasing new versions with more functionality (i.e. Java Development Tools, Plug in Development Environment, Rich Client Platform, etc.). One of the core ideas behind Eclipse is to allow users (in this case developers) to write and share modules (i.e. toolkits), different from the previous IDEs that hides their individual building classes. For example, the pioneer Plug in Development Environment (PDE) for Eclipse was designed specifically for this purpose, allowing developers to build and test their own plugins that would later benefit the performance of Eclipse. Eclipse provide an environment that individual users can manipulate the framework to facilitate their daily work. Like most of the open source software, originally, Eclipse was written by a group of paid, full time developer, setting up the fundamental structure at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Persuasive Essay On Organ Donation Alec Peltekian Ms. Branin Honors English 11, Period 3 5/31/17 As one life ends a new beginning is created for another. Thousands of lives are saved each year in the United States alone just by organ donation. With each donor passing away and donating their organs to those in peril, children with heart conditions or adults with liver disease are given another chance to live a new healthy life. It is the definition of charity and it gives so many desperate people the hope they need. However, such a beautiful and giving process can be quickly altered into a dark process for those involved with the Black Market. Many types or organs, often stolen from unsuspecting victims of Dark Web crime, are sold on the Black Market for large amounts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is the exact opposite reason for those operating along the evil networks of the Dark Web. The Web s main priority is to make high risk deals and investments to bring the highest reward for its salespersons. The risk is run so high that is breaks all governing bodies laws in the process. Sites have been known to sell illegal organs for large sums of money including a heart [that] will set you back $65,000 (VICE 6). The purchase is simply just this immense fortune and no insurance or paperwork for the exchange. As stated before, the purpose of this method is strictly making money. The Dark Web is its own sick and twisted economy for those willing to do what it takes for money. Doctors must consider and weigh the ethical background of how they receive every organ from a willing donor, or unsuspecting victim. Another legitimate concern in this field, is where the organ came from and the security one has knowing that it came from a healthy and well suited environment. If the organ was put under harmful stress by the previous human, the organ might fail to function correctly. This is why organ donation keeps a large sample size when it comes to the volunteer pool. If someone does have a deficiency or disease affecting organs, they have opportunities to help as one s medical condition at the time of death will determine what organs and tissue can be donated (MedLine Plus 1). • 8. A Response to Embroidery by Ray Bradbury Essays A Response to Embroidery by Ray Bradbury The short story Embroidery , written by Ray Bradbury is one, which could be classed as a science fiction story with some political aspects to it. Embroidery ends in apocalyptic terms, where an atom bomb is dropped. Written in the 1960 s meant that the cold war was still going on and being hit by an atomic bomb was highly possible. I think that because of this a general reader reading this story in the time it was written would have found this story frightening and at that time the story may haven even been slightly controversial. From a feminists point of view this text would be looked upon with quite a lot of interest. Firstly, the short story was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I ll just have to rip the whole pattern, practically, to fix it right. The man is ripped out entirely from the scene, rather then just having his face corrected. This could signify women s everlasting struggle with men, and also on a more gender equality related issue, how these women are in control of the men in their lives, choosing not to have them at all, implying that men are an almost annoyance to women and they would much rather have them out of their lives then have them as they are. These women seem to be living fine as they are however their situation is hardly the scene pictured in the embroidery. A feminist reader may dislike this story because firstly, the women in the story could be though of as stereotypical. The embroidery itself serves as an activity commonly associated with women and I think that a feminist reader would rather dismiss these stereotypes. Also, the story has a political agenda behind it as well as being fictional. There are some books who are against America that don t hesitate to compare it to evil countries like Germany during ww2. Then there are book that claim that the CIA was actually behind the 9/11 attacks. Then there is Surprise, Security, and the American Experience, a non bias attempt to analyze America foreign policy in its real context and without any unwanted criticism. The author is John Lewis Gaddis, a historian of the cold war, who taught at Ohio University and Yale. Now in Surprise, Security, and the American Experience, there were three big shifts in the history of united states foreign policy, each one was by a surprise attack on America. The first one happen when the British sacked Washington on August 24, 1814. This exposure of America led John Quincy Adams, as President, to come up with ways the U.S. Should define it self. • 10. Why Is The Bayeux Tapestry Reliable Part A The Bayeux Tapestry as a historical source The Bayeux Tapestry is a primary source. The Bayeux Tapestry is a primary source of history because it was created just after the Battle of Hasting, which took place on the 14th of October 1066 A.D/C.E. The Bayeux Tapestry was created in the 11th Century. The person who commissioned the Bayeux Tapestry was Bishop Odo. Bishop Odo was the half brother of Duke William, who was the leader of the Normans. He created the Bayeux Tapestry in honour of the victory for the Normans in the Battle of Hastings. The perspective that is not given in the Bayeux Tapestry is the English perspective. The English perspective is not in the Bayeux Tapestry because it wasn t the English who created the Bayeux Tapestry and it was in the Norman perspective. I think what might be missing from the missing part of the Bayeux Tapestry is that what happened after the battle of Hastings like celebrations and also King William s coronation on the 25th of December 1066. Total School Cluster Grouping Model The Total School Cluster Grouping (TSCG) model is a service delivery model that uses the strategies usually found in gifted programs and applies it to include the achievement and performance of all the students in a school. TSCG works well with the Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM) and the Renzulli s Three Ring Conception of Giftedness (Gentry and Fugate, 2013, p. 213). This model has a focus on the enhancement of every students strengths, skills, and confidence, using grouping strategies and enriched curriculum (Gentry and Fugate, 2013, p.213). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The pullout method that this school is using is more of a means to an ends . Most of their gifted students are not receiving services throughout the majority of the week. With the limited amount of the time they have for pullout, the TSCG model presented would work better. However, incorporating TSCM at Lockland will not be an easy road, and it should be implement slowly, in stages. First, Lockland needs to have better professional development opportunities for their teachers. In TSCM, every teacher is using gifted education practices and needs to be confident in implementing them in their classrooms (Gentry Fugate, 2013, p.221). When teachers are more educated on these matters, they can begin to differentiate to gifted students in their regular classrooms more successfully. With this in class support and the pullout program, Lockland should see better assessment results. Finally, teachers and administration can sit down and form cluster groups that consider the needs of all the students, and eliminate the pullout time. Lockland can use the teachers that were originally leading pullout to teach the high ability class, assuming that they are the best to do so, or they can be used as gifted push in teachers providing additional support in the general classroom. Considering, the failure of the pullout program, I believe that the TSGC model would be worth the time and effort implementing at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Chartists and Chartism Essays Chartists and Chartism Chartism was the name of a variety of protest movements in England during the 1830s and 40s, which aimed to bring about change in social and economic conditions through political reform. Its name comes from the People s Charter, a six point petition presented to the House of Commons with the hope of having it made law. The six point included annual parliaments, universal manhood suffrage, abolition of the property qualification for members of the House of Commons, the secret ballot, equal electoral districts, and salaries for members of Parliament. The Convention then proclaimed a general strike, but many had no employer to strike against, and the Convention broke up after riots in various parts of England and Wales, with many leaders arrested and troops sent in by the government. A similar petition was presented in 1842, another bad time, with even more signatures, and was again firmly rejected. Again there were strikes; again leaders were jailed. 1848, the year Mary Barton was published, saw a final demonstration by the Chartists. This time they had collected over 5,000,000 signatures and the presentation to the Parliament was attended with great ceremony; an impressive parade carried the wagon loads of signatures to the House of Commons. This was the year of revolution in Europe there had been revolts in Paris, Vienna (3), Venice, Berlin, Milan, Rome, and Czechoslovakia and the British government was desperately afraid of large scale demonstrations. Many troops were deployed in London and the petition failed again, which brought about the virtual end of Chartism. ` The supporters of Chartism were from different working class groups, but all were victims of the Industrial Revolution. One group consisted of the older handicrafts and domestic skills those who worked on commission in their homes, at looms or knitting frames, under the so called putting out system, where their materials were supplied by a factor or middleman who later came to collect the finished work. While it is known that all retailers, large and small, are vulnerable to attacks, several factors including people, work process, and technology require attention so as to prevent another major attack from hitting TJX. The people associated with the attack who need attention are the top level executives and, more importantly, the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) auditors. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2. How should the company s IT security be improved and strengthened? What should its short term priorities and long term plans be? Hiring Richel as the Chief Security Officer was one big step towards a better IT security program at TJX; he s an executive who understands the harsh and costly consequences of a weak IT security system and has plans to implement the strongest system possible. Short term priorities include 1) addressing Mary Smith s letter and taking care of the $5,000 theft, 2) implement network monitoring, 3) implement logs, 4) encrypt ALL data and minimize the time where data goes from scrambled to unscrambled , and 5) update all components of the system, both hardware and software, to the most modern and secure in the industry. Long term priorities should include minimizing risk by making everyone in the company, not just top level executives, aware of the potential of another massive attack on their system. The reason why I think store clerks and managers should be made aware of their respective branch s IT system (wireless, kiosks, card swipers, etc) is so that they know what an attack looks like when it is happening. The experiment was simple, a Pendulum was created with a weight on the end of a wire which was attached to a fixed point on the ceiling, once set in motion it continued to move and slowly rotated its position. The use of the Foucault Pendulum was successful and ended several millennial of argument over whether or not the Earth was actually in the rotation, with a simple repeatable experiment. The irony that is found within this, is the fact that the savage, irrational killer turns out to be Edgar himself, who convinces himself that he killed those Natives out of self defense in order to protect himself from those who have no rational abilities to protect themselves. ... • 24. The Impact Of Genes On A Person The impact of genes on a person is a well known assumption among people who study genetics. When you think about it, who we are and how we act is based off of our genetic makeup. Behavioral genetics studies the inheritance of behavioral traits. There are some people who are just nice and easygoing people while others behave in an unmoral way or are considered anti social. Behavior genetics is that branch that is trying to figure out what factors play a part in how people act and what genes lead to diverse array of behavior. Not only could genetic information be inherited by a person s parent but how much of their behavior is also determined by the environment, such as their living conditions, the people they surround themselves with, and other influences that may surround them. Behavior genetics environmental factors can be separated into two categories, shared and nonshared. Shared environment can be considered the environment that is shared by members in the same family, which can include the same parents or socioeconomic class. Nonshared environment is the one that is exclusive to an individual and incorporates their own peer group or hobbies not shared with family members. When you read a lot about behavioral genetics there is a lot of talk about Nature vs. Nurture, with genetics being the nature and the environment being nurture. Since I feel that a person s behavior can be affected by both I can understand why this theory goes along with this topic. In order to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction Of A Foreign Species Biodiversity Introduction For once in history, the introduction of a foreign species has had paramount importance throughout their evolution for many terrestrial ecosystems. Apis Mellifera also commonly known as the Western Honey bee, is a vital component to global biodiversity. The honey bee provides ecosystem services of considerable ecological significance for the reproduction of plants and for the pollination of many economically important crops. Although the place of origin of Apis Mellifera is unclear, North America was introduced to the Western Honey bee around 1622 by European colonists (Weber, E. 2012). Amongst the eight species in the genus Apis, Apis Mellifera is the most widely valued honey bee in the United States(citation). Apis Mellifera live in nests, called a hive, and typically house 40,00 bees, which are divided into three different types of adult bees: Queen, Worker, Drone(Winston, M. L., 1987). Majority of the bees living in the beehive are Worker bees that provide majority of the fundamental processes needed to sustain the beehive. Honey bees consume processed nectar (honey) and pollen (bee bread) which are both found in Angiosperms (flowering plants). Nectar, which bees convert to honey serves as a primary source of carbohydrates (Winston, M. L., 1987). This provides honey bees energy for flight and product for colony maintenance. Moreover, many of the Rwandan s needed to forgive each other for their crimes in order to deal with the pain of losing their family members. Rwanda is a small country where the individuals depend upon each other for the basic needs in life. Once the genocide had ended, the government needed its citizens to cooperate with each other and forgive in order to restore peace to the country. • 37. Feminist Perspective Of Feminism There have been many instances of feminists reacting to popular understandings and theories in their fields. That is one of the glorious things about feminism; while some feminist literature can feel abstract and hard to understand, it is often concerning real things happening in the world and offering real ways to implement change. This is perhaps because of feminists dedication to fairness and truth. In delving into women s and gender studies, one can see that notions once thought of as True, are not in fact so; for example, notions relating to sex, gender, and expression. With notions such as those which are considered to be so essential to our lived experiences being questioned, it begs further questioning, such as: what are feminist notions of objectivity and truths and how can we work toward these in a positively consequential way? Feminist notions of truth are more objective than traditional scientific approaches because they look at problems more fully. In mainstream science, objectivity is thought of as being without bias or emotion, with the rationale being that the facts will speak for themselves and produce an ultimate and ideal Truth. This singular Truth is thought to be essential and able to be discovered by all people, given that they have the proper tools. As Alison Jaggar stated in Love and Knowledge, this is neither possible nor desirable in many instances. Emotional concepts inform our realities, thereby giving different people different knowledge ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Resistance Workers Of France For the Resistance workers of France, gender had a defining impact on the roles and jobs open to women where they were both utilized and supported. They played a key role in the Resistance of Vichy France from a scattering of leadership roles, to support roles, to secretarial and liaison work. These women were galvanized and motivated for different reasons: for the political, to moral, to patriotic or for the desire to do something. Even women beyond the network of the official groups of Resistance worked to shelter, protect and support Allies, their communities and Resistance efforts. Thousands of Women during the war, in the Resistance or not, followed and manipulated the stereotypes and limitations of women in the era to better service their goals. However these womanly standards curbed which positions they could fill and what respect they received. In prewar France, the stereotypical women were the homemakers of the family. Though many were formally educated, few professional jobs were open to them. After the France s physical and morale collapse in the first months of World War II, the government propaganda proclaimed a new form of masculinity. A society built on a foundation of family, gender and biological distinct roles with a male dominated hierarchy. The antithesis of male ideal being a women who was submissive, ignorant and the home maker. These feminine ideals and values funneled many women to a support or secondary role in the Resistance.
