Murray Darling Basin Analysis
Murray Darling Basin
The Murray Darling Basin is a river catchment located in Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales.
It is one of the most iconic basins in Australia. Today we will be talking about the history of the basin
and the people who live there.
Over 2 million people live in the Basin but, people who live outside the Basin still heavily rely on the
water from it, so over a total of 3.3 million people need water from the Basin. The basin also supplies
food for these aboriginal people, like the native fish in the area for all of the nations. There are 45
aboriginal nations in the basin, compared to Australia having over 500 nations.
It hasn t always been aboriginals living in the basin, European settlers have used the river system

Essay on Small Business
Small Business 2
In accessing the Equal Employment Opportunity Office (EEOC) website, I found it very hard to find a
clear and concise reason as to why small businesses were treated differently than the larger businesses
and why the law would differentiate between them. These smaller organizations are sometimes treated
differently by the EEOC because they lack the resources that most large companies possess. Most
small businesses can t afford to hire the best qualified people that larger businesses can and do. They
may not be able to hire people that fit into the different classes (EEOC, 2008). For example, they may
want to hire someone with a disabili ty but really can t afford to because they would have to make ...

different laws that are enforced by EEOC for small businesses one of which is the Title VII of the
Civil Rights of 1964. This law makes it illegal to discriminate against any person based on race, color,
religion, national origin, or sex. This law also makes it unlawful to retaliate against a person because
the person complained about discrimination or filed a charged of discrimination (Laws Enforced by
EEOC).
Equal Pay Act of 1963 law is equally important to small businesses. This law makes it unlawful to pay
different salaries to men and women when they both are performing the exact same job. The Equal
Pay Act does not exclude all disparities in wage rates paid men and women but only those disparities
based only on gender (Twomey, D, and Jennings, M.M., 2011, p. 848).
Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, this law also enforced by the EEOC is intended to
protect individuals who are 40 years or older from discrimination because of age. It covers all private
employers with 20 or more employees (small business) (Anderson, R.A., Fox,
1., Twomey, D.P., and Jennings, M.M., 1993).
Title I and Title V of the Americans with Disabilities Act 1990. This is also administered by the EEOC
to aid small businesses. This law makes it illegal to discriminate against a qualified person with a

The Great Deal Of Military Scholarship
There has been a great deal of military scholarship written on the greatest battles of the world and has
influenced these armed forces fighting in these grand battles. Two of these scholarships are discussed
by Victor Davis Hanson, a military historian specializing on classical warfare and a current professor
at California State University, and John A Lynn, a military historian specializing in early modern
Europe and is a current professor at University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. Both books discuss
cultural linkage in terms of successful armies and how the victor s culture resulted in victory, but
thesis is problematic because he creates a staunch dichotomy of western battle virtues versus every
other armed force in the world. An ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The high motivation of the soldier often goes hand in hand with the freedom of the soldier fighting.
This idea of the soldier s freedom begins in the Greek city state as mentioned by Hanson gives these
men a sense of individualism, which creates the idea that men are fighting for their families as well as
fighting for their livelihood. Hanson also mentions the strict discipline and training of the soldier.
This strict training allows for the militaries to be more effective in smaller numbers and Hanson uses
the Battle of Rorke s Drift between the African Zulu s and The British Royal Army. Though the Zulus
vastly outnumbered the British, as well as possessed the same weaponry, they were very well trained
and by using decisive battle and weaponry techniques they were able to defeat the Zulu army.
The largest piece of the thesis that supports the fact that Western armies are dominant on the
battlefield is their ability to adapt and become flexible. Hanson points out that the Japanese had better
planes than the Americans in the Battle of Midway, but it was the ability of the Americans to utilize
their technology well that eventually lead to an American victory. Hanson also mentions that Western
armies are almost amoral

Essay about The Zebra Mussel
Populations of the zebra mussel, Dreissena polymorpha (Pallas), were first found in the Laurentian
Great Lakes in 1988 (Hebert et al., 1989). This species is native to the Caspian, Aral, and Black Seas
and the rivers that drain into them but has spread throughout Europe, principally during the 18th
century. Since it is restricted to estuarine and freshwater habitats, it is presumed that it was introduced
into North America by ballast waters of transoceanic vessels. Based on the substantial amount of
genetic variation found in these initial populations, as estimated from electrophoretic variation of
allozymes, the colonization of the Great Lakes was by a large number of immigrants and not just a
few founders ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This blockage can result in heat damage to power plants and necessitates costly removal or
replacement of intake pipes (Minchin and Moriarty, 1998).
Colonization by zebra mussels has devastating ecological impacts on native bivalves (Mackie, 1991;
Haag et al., 1993), frequently driving them to local extinction. Zebra mussels readily, perhaps
preferentially, settle on native bivalves and eventually cover them over. They filter the water so
efficiently that they can lower the amount of suspended food organisms below levels needed to sustain
native unionids.
Their success in spreading rapidly and colonizing new areas is due to two features of zebra mussel
biology. Firstly, zebra mussels produce large numbers ( gt; 30,000 per female) of planktotrophic
veliger larvae which can survive for 10 15 days (Hebert et al., 1989). Such larvae are well suited for
efficient dispersal by water currents, especially in riverine systems. Additionally, they don t require the
presence of suitable host species of fish, as do native unionid larvae. Secondly, the spread of zebra
mussels is aided by their ability to attach to objects by byssal threads (the same ability that leads to
their fouling problems). Because of this ability, adult zebra mussels can attach to and be spread by
ships,

Separation Of Ionic Molecules Lab Report
In chemistry, an ionic compound is a type of chemical bond where the ions are fixed together via an
ionic bond. An ionic bond is formed when a metal reacts with non metal; in the reaction, electrons are
transferred from the metal atoms to the non metal atoms forming negatively and positively charged
ions. The electrostatic attraction, one of the strongest force in the universe which is caused by electric
charges between the positive and negative ions, holds the ionic compounds tightly together. Consider
the reaction between the metal calcium oxide (〖Ca〗^(2+)) and the non metal water (H_2 O), which
react together to yield the ionic compound calcium hydroxide (Ca(〖OH)〗_2).
In this reaction, calcium oxide donated its electron which was a negatively ... Show more content on

Meaning, compounds with the same type of bonding tend to be soluble with one another. Polar
substances would dissolve in polar solvents such as water, however, would not dissolve in non polar
solvents. Non polar substances dissolve in non polar solvents but do not dissolve in polar ones. Most
ionic compounds are able to be dissolved in water as the water molecules hydrate ions. For an ionic
compound to be dissolved, the water molecules must stabilize the ions, which thus would result in the
separation of the ionic bond to form a solution. Water is a polar molecule, it has a permanent dipole.
The oxygen atom has a partial negative charge whilst the hydrogen atom has a partial positive charge.
When an ionic substance is placed in to the water, the water molecules would quickly attract the
charged ions from the substance. They then become free to move about. However, this only occurs
when the attractive forces between the water molecules and ions are stronger than the attractive forces
within the ionic compound. CaOH is a slightly insoluble compound, the solubility of CaOH is
approximately 0.189 g/100 mL of water at 20. A more soluble ionic compounds solubility such as
NaCl is only 35.7 g/100 mL of water at 20°C. CaOH is only slightly insoluble as calcium and oxygen
are +2 and 2 ions in

Technology Based Learning Essay
Technology based learning (TBL) constitutes learning via electronic technology, including the
Internet, intranets, satellite broadcasts, audio and video conferencing, bulletin boards, chat rooms,
webcasts, and CD ROM. TBL also encompasses related terms, such as online learning and web based
learning that only include learning that occurs via the Internet, and computer based learning that is
restricted to learning through the use of computers. E learning is synonymous with TBL and has
largely replaced it in scholarship and industry as the term of choice.
TBL holds the promise of substantially transforming the way learning takes place because of its
numerous advantages. Among these, TBL fosters greater accessibility to learning by offering anytime
and anywhere delivery. It is readily scalable to both large and small groups since it can accommodate
larger numbers of learners at little extra cost and smaller groups of learners that otherwise would not
be able to participate in traditional classroom training for lack of enrollments. Further, the content of
TBL courses, especially those that are delivered online, can be centrally developed and updated
whenever the need arises; therefore, the cost of replacing outdated course materials and retraining
teachers and instructors drops significantly. From the learners point of view, TBL can be self paced
and matched to the learner s needs, and, building on pedagogy that emphasizes the merits of discovery
learning, it offers

Confucius and Confucianism Essay
One of the most famous people in ancient China was a wise philosopher named Confucius (circa
551 479 BC). He was a great Chinese philosopher, educator, and political figure. His teachings and
proverbs are in the Analects, which is the base of many Chinese theories. He was born
in the village of Zou, and the state of Lu. His father died three years after Confucius birth leaving the
family in destitution, but Confucius did have a decent education. He was married at the age of 19 and
had
one son and two daughters.
He worked as a keeper of a market. Then he was a farm worker who took care of parks and farm

crime was lowered greatly. Lu become very powerful. Many other people were jealous and envied all
the

neighboring
state made sure that Confucius got dismissed. Confucius left his office in 496 BC, traveling about and
teaching, helplessly hoping that some other noble would allow him to undertake measures of reform.
In 484

Selma Is Now Analysis
Following the end of the Civil Rights Movement many Americans believed this would be the end of
race issues in the United States. They believed that the sit ins, marches, and protests that caused
President John F. Kennedy to issue civil rights legislation ended race problems making the United
States a post racial society. However, as recent racial tensions in the United States and the anniversary
of the Selma Voting Rights March and Voting Rights Act many historians have questioned whether the
Civil Rights movement ended. Society has drawn a correlation between the fight for justice now with
the justice African Americans fought for in the 1950s and 1960s. The Selma March which is

The Equal Justice Initiative has recently documented 3,959 African Americans lynched between 1877
and 1950. Lynch mobs cast a wide net. They targeted Black men accused of crimes, those accused or
suspected of sexual relations with white women, and those seen as being impudent to white man, in
the words of one lynching record. Lynchings were barbaric, often involving the ritualistic burning and
dismemberment of dead bodies . These lynching statistics are devastating and harsh, but they are still
comparable to police shooting statistics in numbers. Hobbs shares statistics as well stating Federal

between the ages of 15 and 19 were killed at a rate of 31.17 per million, while 1.47 per million white
males in the same age range died at the hands of police . Despite the means of death the numbers of

Mary Did You Know A Christmas Carol Lyrics Analysis
We all love Christmas. There is so many good parts to it: the decorations and colors, the delicious
food, and being with our loving, caring families. However, the very best part is that we get to celebrate
Christ s birth and listen or sing carols that reflect Him. Mary Did You Know, a christmas carol, shows
what Jesus did during His life.
This song has background, scripture, and definitions some may not understand. Buddy Greene and
Mark Lowry came together to write this carol. Mark Lowry is a Christian songwriter, comedian, and
singer. Buddy Greene is also a songwriter and singer. They included scripture in this song, but instead
of verses, they used only words. For example, the words in the third verse, Lord of all Creation and
the Great I Am are mentioned in the bible. One thing confusing in this song is when it uses the word
delivered as a homonym. This word means to give birth or to rescue, which both definitions are used
in the same verse; This Child that you delivered will soon deliver you... This meaningful Christmas
carol has more to it than you think. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Pros And Cons Of Open Marking
The Correctional framework in the 21st century has advanced from early disciplines which were
unfeeling and convoluted medications of detainees. Prior disciplines were taken a gander at the same
number of structures, for example, lashing which mean detainees were beaten for wrongdoings, at
times to the point of death. Mutilation is the point at which the culprits were physically eviscerated as
a discipline to discourage lawbreakers from carrying out different wrongdoings. Marking was a type
of open showing of disgracing lawbreakers by stamping them. Open mortification of hoodlums was

Guggenheim Museum Bilbao Essay
The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, designed by Frank Gehry, is an art museum belonging to the
Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation located in Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain set on the edge of the
Nervión River. It first opened its doors in October of 1997 and features artwork by predominantly
Spanish artists. It is hailed as a spectacular representation of the Deconstructivity movement and an
architectural masterpiece. As it became a popular tourist attraction, drawing visitors from around the
world being once the city s main source of income.
The following question arises from the assentation: what exactly makes the Guggenheim Bilbao an
architectural masterpiece?
Between art and architecture, there is a lifelong bond. They are rather like light and shadow; one
cannot exist without the other. Even the word masterpiece , used here to describe something
architectural, holds a strong connotation with fine arts.
In the case of Gehry s Guggenheim museum Bilbao, the building is a three dimensional abstract
representation of something real in nature. It is mostly made up of organic curves and reflective
materials that reflect light and the free forms of nature. Whether it is viewed from the river, the bridge,
or the sky, the museum strongly resembles a lotus flower. It will obviously never be an actual lotus

Crime And Punishment Sociology
Throughout history, the law has been violated repeatedly. Crime and Punishment is not an unknown
system of the world. Every state has their own set of laws that are different and similar to other states.
The law has changed several times throughout history, adapting to the situation and the beliefs of the
nations it dictates. These set of rules guide people s actions and lives to protect them, their rights and
the other citizens of their nation. These rules are sometimes challenged and changed because of people
who dared to argue against a specific law. There are cases that are unbelievable and seemed

This case obviously had a major sociological aspect to it. For the jurisdiction was based on whether
these two boys knew the difference between good and bad and whether they were truly aware of the
consequences of their actions. At the age of 10, a child cannot be held accountable by law for crime
because their brain hasn t fully developed the capacity to determine that they re doing is wrong. This
fact alone had a major impact on their punishment at the end of the trial. From one perspective they
are too young technically, to know what they did was wrong but from another what they did was so
wrong that it is impossible they were not aware of consequences that would result from their actions.

DoD Directive
In further refining the role or limitations for a Chaplain, the Department of Defense provides
directives to bring clarity to more specific issues. The Chaplain is viewed as the subject matter expert
(SME) on religion. With this in mind, and his/her position as personal staff officer to the commander,
they are called on to advise commanders on issues pertaining to religion and the accommodation
thereof. Department of Defense Directive 1300.17 indicates specific guidance to the acceptance of
religious accommodations. Since the military places high value (DoD Directive 1300.7) on the right to
free exercise of religion, commands are encouraged to accommodate religious needs where
appropriate. While on the outset, this does not apply directly to the Chaplain, he/she is the SME on all
matters pertaining to religion. Therefore, this directive again narrows, limits, the scope of the Chaplain
to religious matters. Commanders are encouraged to utilize the expertise of the Chaplain when
determining when and how to accommodate religious practices. This fosters greater unit cohesion and
unit readiness as it pertains to spiritual fitness and resiliency (DoD Directive 1300.7).
Army Regulation

How Did Kraar Build Love On The B-Line Plot
Sarah Barbeau
Mrs. Love Hilliard
Creative Writing
25 January 2017
Love on the B Line Playwriting is made up of three simple ingredients that make up a delicious recipe
for entertainment. The structure/plot of a play, the characters, and the dialogue from these characters
are all essential parts of a play that make it possible to perform. A play must have each of these
ingredients in order to be a successful treat to its audience. Love on the B Line by Adam Kraar excels
at using the main ingredients in order to make the delicious (literature) piece. The plot of Kraar s play
demonstrates an odd couple reminiscing about their relationship while at their favorite stop along a
train route. Kraar s imagination to create such quirky characters helped ... Show more content on

Through dialogue, you can learn more about a character through what they say. The dialogue from
Love on the B Line is quite believable because it is similar to conversations heard from other couples
in other writings. Robbie questions, It s 2 A.M. You think I m going to let you go home alone? (Kraar
316). The couple s conversation with each other heighten their conflict by reintroducing the issue
numerous times within multiple instances. All Robbie wants is for Marie to stay the night but Marie
refuses because her cat has yet to be fed. Marie often introduces and reintroduces backstory with the
dialogue of her character. She tends to repeat events that had already passed to distract Robbie from
thinking about the present. Marie and Robbie share a common bond within their dialogue that keeps
the audience on edge for what s next. Within the dialogue of the play, the actions of each character
steadily move, creating more entertainment for the audience. From both Robbie and Marie, the
verisimilitude of the play is high because of the realistic actions and thoughts that come within both

An Age Of Informational Starvation
We are living in an age of informational starvation. People are seeking for something that is attractive
and glowing to see on their screens. Advertisers found that possibility as an opportunity to shine and
they had created many different works that promote their products. However, it is possible to stop on
one commercial, which is called Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Rafael Nadal, which is the commercial by
Nike, to understand the way they appeal to the audience. First of all, like any other piece of art, the
narrator creates the specific theme that addresses the human eye. That theme provokes a specific
response in human mind, and their thinking provokes the profit if the advertiser was successful.
However, the ethos of the current commercial is obvious Nike Company is one of the leading
industries that deliver sports equipment. Nike represents one of the main players in the sports
equipment market. They create rules, and they create trends. Their credibility is outstanding due to the
fact that they are constantly doing different market examinations that concentrate on trend analysis.
That is their profit that is why their researches show them evident details about marketing trends and
they have enough money to adjust. Speaking of the logos of the article, it is important to mention that
this commercial used the paradox as the rhetorical device so that it is complex to talk about the logical
flow of arguments that they present. Their paradoxical choice figures, their game

Merusault Compare Contrast Essay
Each individual has distinguishing characteristics that can either separate them from the majority or
can place them in the majority. What may seem different may actually be very similar to another. As a
human in society, one must adapt to social norms or be looked at as an outcast because within the
society we live in there is a certain criteria that has already been created and has been passed from
generations to generation where if one doesn t adhere to this standard they are then portrayed as
indifferent. Although an individual may try to adapt to social norms, they will always be targeted for
normality not being natural to them because being normal is supposed to be in an individual from their

Meursault expresses his self in his mind whereas, Kasper analyzes his surroundings and is vocal with
his opinions. Merusault is very inquisitive but he chooses to remain unnoticed by not voicing out his
opinions. For example: When Raymond questions him on how he should punish his ex girlfriend,
Merusault just agrees with Raymond s understanding because he doesn t know how to truly express
his emotions when asked. Merusault chooses not to verbally vocalize his opinion but mentally process
it. Merusault just sits backs and follows Raymond s opinions and feelings in the moment because
when an individual is vocal in society, their opinions must conform to society ideologies. If one doesn
t comply with such beliefs they will be viewed as different. The only place you can see Meursault

Essay on The King of Comedy Life of Jerry Lewis
The King of Comedy Life of Jerry Lewis
I shall pass through this world but once. Any good therefore, that I can do or any kindness that I can
show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not differ nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this
way again (TOJLCMS, 5). For Jerry Lewis, this was a common outlook he had. Jerry has devoted his
life to entertaining others and putting a smile on their faces. Although he did suffer numerous
struggles, Jerry Lewis has still successfully made it to the top (Lewis, 3).
Joseph Levitch was born March 16, 1926 in Newark, New Jersey. He was born to Danny and Rae
Levitch (Levy, 1). Jerry s folks were part time entertainers and because of this, he was left home a lot
(Lewis, 15). The only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In less then eighteen weeks, the salaries of Martin and Lewis soared from $250.00 a week to
$5,000.00 a week (Shaviro, 1). Together they made a total of 16 films over a 10 year span (Shaviro,
1). On July 25th of the year the two made their last nightclub appearance together at the Copacabana,
exactly 10 years to the day since they became a team (Shaviro, 1).
Jerry then met a female by the name of Patti. Jerry and Patti were married by a justice of peace in
Greenwich Connecticut (Levy, 50). Patti was a Catholic but did not wanted to convert to Judaism
because she felt secure in her faith since childhood (Levy, 50). In April of 1943, before the authority
of a rabbi and the watchful eye of Rae, Danny, and a small brood of aunts and uncles, and cousins,
Jerry and his six month pregnant wife stood under a Chuppah to be married once again (Levy, 50).
Lewis had a love for baseball. During the 50 s and 60 s, Jerry played 1st base with numerous
Professional baseball teams and trained every year with the LA Dodgers (TOJLCMS, 2). Through this
experience, He has become close friends with Gil Hodges (TOJLCMS, 2).

Application Of An Xml Representation For Source Code Using...
For my Honors Research Project, I wrote a GUI application that converts and displays source code
using the srcML format. The srcML format is an XML representation for source code, where the
markup tags identify elements of the abstract syntax for the language. As the name implies, the goal
for srcMX is to promote the manipulation and exploration of source code. Currently, source code can
be converted to the srcML format using the srcml command line tool. However, this requires the user
to view the results using an external application. The srcMX application is the first to allow users to
convert source code the the srcML format and view the results. In addition, my application also
provides users with the ability to visualize query results. The srcMX application consists of several
modular views. At the top, the main toolbar contains a variety of controls. Here, the user can add files
to the project, toggle the visibility of application views, and browse through the history of opened
files. The main toolbar also contains a large status bar that displays information about the project. To
the right, a slider controls the visibility of srcML tags in the code viewport. New files can be added to
a project by expanding the drop down button in the main tool bar. This opens a window that allows the
user to specify the type of file he or she wishes to add. Like the srcML command line tool, srcMX can
accept individual files, directories containing multiple files, compressed archives

Age Of Paradox Of The Victorian Era In The 19th Century
Age of paradox The nineteenth century was a significant period for Britain because society had
changed her mentality, people started to idolize freedom and hard work as a method for winning
respectability and material success, they believed in democracy, religion, patriotism, progress,
capitalism and the family that completely determined the quality of living. The Victorian Age was
portrayed by fast transformation and improvements in almost every circle from advances in medical,

The main dilemma they all faced and to which they all found various solutions was how to adapt the
historical design to contemporary needs. The most popular Victorian styles were: Neoclassicism, the
Gothic Revival, the High Victorian Gothic, Later Victorian Gothic, the Architecture of New
Industrialism. Despite the fact that there were a wide range of sorts of Victorian houses they all shared
many of the same detailed architectural features such as: bay windows, dentils, columns, dormers,
turrets, mansard roofs and many more. When it comes to literature, writers such as Dickens, the
Bronte sisters and Sir Walter Scott were the ones who had a big contribution in this century. Dickens
wrote in different styles, from comedy to tragedy. He wrote about the defects of the legal system,
dangers to public health, the problems of factory employment, to the scandals in private schools and
corruption in government. Just how Charles Dickens said in A Tale of Two Cities ,,It was the best of
times; it was the worst of times because for industrialists and the aristocracy, life could seemingly not
get any better; but for the working poor, the value of life was perhaps at its lowest levels in modern
history. Mentalities and perspectives changed since then and even if it had ups and downs it remained

Imagery In Hills Like White Elephants
In Ernest Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants , the use of imagery and symbolism in the
landscape of surrounding Ebro Valley, as well as the use of language and tone, shape our
understanding of the conflict between the two main characters. The man referred to only by The
American , is trying to convince Jig to get an abortion. Though the word (abortion) is never stated
directly in the entirety of the story, it is conveyed by the use of symbolism and imagery in the
surrounding landscape. Furthermore, we can conclude that the topic at hand will come to a final and
abrupt solution that Jig will, in fact, get the abortion due to her tone and language at the end of the
story. In the beginning of the story, Jig makes a very subtle and almost unnoticeable comment that the
hills surrounding Spain s Ebro Valley resemble White Elephants. Historically, in India and many parts
of the eastern world, white elephants were gifts of great honor and importance, but just like most gifts,
they had a large price that went along with them. White elephants were extremely hard to care for and

Electrospinning is a convenient method for fabricating various nanofibrous scaffolds for biomedical
applications. In electrospinning process, a conductive collector device plays a critical role in
determining the shape and the structure of the nanofibrous scaffold; however, the preparation of the

Income Base Apportionment Formula
Mission: To assess current expense apportionment calculations in comparison to income base
apportionment, GCFA (as charged by the 2012 General Conference) presents the attached information
for review. Current Apportionment Formula: Currently, conference s net expenditures calculate
apportionment amounts. In theory, all 501(c)3 entities like The United Methodist Church should give
an estimate of local church expenses equal to their income. To define the apportionable amount, Net
Expenses (E) expresses the total church expenses less deductions: benevolent giving, capital
expenditures, payments to debt, and a portion of apportionments paid to the conference. Next, the
Base Rate percentage (p), approved by General Conference, is summed with the i factor (i) and finally
multiplied by Net Expenses (E) to define conference apportionments. The Formula is expressed

Conferences with higher than average income, either grow or give at a higher than average rate.
Changing to an income base expense model will cut their ability to give. Thus, redistribution would

an income base model remains relevant, the practicality and feasibility of its implementation is
reduced by its abilities to work best through complexity. Thus, if the income base model works best

I have been eating plenty of protein lately, but my body was screaming for carbohydrates! As a result,
I succumbed to a three piece extra crispy, dark meat chicken meal from KFC. That, plus the sweet

Essay on Nervous Conditions by Tsitsi Dangarembga
Nervous Conditions is a semi autobiographical story about Tambu, a young girl growing up in rural
Rhodesia in the 1960 s, and her search for a way out for both herself and her family of the tremendous
poverty of homestead life in a colonized African country. Narrated through the eyes of young Tambu,
the story is told with child like simplicity about her and her family fighting to survive in a complex
world of Imperialism, racism, and class and gender inequality. In hindsight, Dangarembga allows the
protagonist s narrative to slowly unravel the meaning of her and her family s struggle with their

him from her and his parents.
She was not upset the day her brother died, and felt no guilt for her feelings about him. I was sad for

I was not sorry that he had died, but I was sorry for him because, according to his standards, his life

both its rewards and costs, that does as much to shape her life as any of the education she receives at

Theme Of Character Development In To Kill A Mockingbird
The two main storylines in Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird are the trial of Tom Robinson, who is
accused of raping a girl, and the mystery around Arthur Boo Radley. Throughout the story, we can see
the character development of young Jean Louise Scout Finch through these two events which is one of
the indicators that this book falls into the category of Coming of age literature. Other elements
however indicate that To Kill a Mockingbird can be seen as a Gothic Novel or even a subgenre of
Gothic namely Southern Gothic.
The characteristics of a character in a Gothic Novel are a virginal maiden or a damsel in distress who
is young, pure, innocent and kind. Other characters include a hero, a villain, a madman, ruffians or
even supernatural beings.
The damsel in distress, who is to be saved by a male person, is not the main character Scout in this
case, since it would sexualize a child if she were to be portrayed as a virginal maiden, but the daughter
of Mr. Ewell, Mayella. She in this case lost her virginity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though she is not mentally unstable or broken she tries to find her place in life and in society as
well. Throughout the book, Scout does not only seem to be appalled by the racism of her peers and
thus cannot relate to them, she also is in a state of inner conflict about the gender role society,
portrayed here in particular by her aunt Alexandra, and would prefer it if she would not have to follow
society s conventions.
Even though To Kill a Mockingbird does not feature supernatural elements which are arguably some
of the most prominent features of Gothic literature it can still be considered a Gothic novel since it
fulfills most of the other criteria. Furthermore, due to addressing social issues and morally ambiguous
characters, it classifies as a Southern Gothic novel without a

Cystochrome C Oxidase Lab Report
Intro When first learning about cells, students are told the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell.
While this is true, most of the energy made actually comes from the electron transport chain that
occurs on the inner membrane of the mitochondria. A series of proteins are active in the electron
transport chain, but the fourth one, cytochrome c oxidase, is the one that is important for our purposes.
Cytochrome c oxidase is a large integral protein, that is made up of several subunits, some which
provide the target of aspirin (Norman, C., et al.). The subunits together have a very important role that
is universal though eukaryotic cells. Cytochrome c oxidase can reduce 250 molecules of O in a
second. The energy released from the oxidation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The R^2 value is only 0.9411, indicating that this line is not close to a perfect fit, which is also seen
from the relationship of the data points to the line, but it is accurate enough to give something to go
off of. From here the true concentration could be calculated by working the calculations from the 40X
and 100X solutions to the pure sample. Once the true concentrations were known, the total protein in
the samples could be calculated. The results of the calculations are found in Table 1. By taking the
calculated total protein, and the average cytochrome c oxidase assay we are able to find the specific
activity of cytochrome c. A negative value in the cytochrome c oxidase assay was preferred, as that
indicated less color than the cytochrome c provided, and thus that cytochrome c oxidase was present
to react. All negative numbers were converted to positive numbers, and as there was no logical way
for a higher concentration of cytochrome c to occur, the samples that resulted in a positive result, were
determined to be a failure to detect the presence of cytochrome c oxidase. Samples 1, 3, and 4 did not
have any cytochrome c oxidase in them, and were therefore not capable of having a specific activity of
cytochrome c

Alternative Methods of Resolving Legal Disputes
A legal dispute is a disagreement over the existence of a legal duty or right. Usually most legal
disputes are resolved in a court of law. However, there are alternative methods of resolving legal
disputes other than by a court. Such methods include Tribunals as well as Arbitration. There are
different Tribunals which exist to resolve a variety of disputes. Generally, a tribunal is known to be
any person or institution with the authority to judge, to pass that particular judgment, or to determine
claims or disputes. For example the industrial tribunal sits to dertermine statutory employment law
disputes such as wrongful dismissal, unfair dismissal and redundancy. However industrial tribunals
serve to resolve many more disputes than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The process of arbitration is governed by the arbitration act which provides a flexible method of
resolving disputes. Advantages | Disadvantages | Cheaper | No right of appeal | Speedy, informal and
flexible | No jury for claimant | Private proceedings | Awards may be based upon justice and equity
rather than evidence | Arbitrator is an appropriately qualified expert | Unknown bias and competency
of the arbitrator | The arbitration award is final | May be highly complex |
Other alternative methods of resolving legal disputes are negotiation, mediation and conciliation.
Mediation is a way of resolving disputes between two or more parties with concrete effects. Typically
a third party assists the parties to negotiate a settlement. The term mediation broadly refers to any
instance in which a third party helps others reach agreement. The process is private and confidential,
possibly enforced by law. Participation is typically voluntary. Conciliation is a less formal form of
arbitration. This process does not require an existence of any prior agreement. Any party can request
the other party to appoint a conciliator. One conciliator is preferred but two or three are also allowed.
In case of multiple conciliators, all must act jointly. Parties may submit statements to the conciliator
describing the general nature of the dispute and the points at issue. Negotiation is the most basic
means of settling our differences. It is back and forth

Essay On Classification Of Stars
Glance upward on a clear, unlit night and one of the most majestic sights available to us on this Earth
reveals itself. Splattered across the asphalt sky, millions nay, billions of white droplets hang as if
suspended by the night. Throughout human history, these seemingly infinitely small points of light
enthralled children and adults alike due to their usefulness in navigation, their connect the dot ability,
and their mystery. Who put them there? Why are they there? Questions like these plagued
philosophers for hundreds of years. Finally, around 1590, Giordano Bruno came to a conclusion that
shook the world of Astronomy. He suggested that the sun join the same category of celestial objects as

Also like cars, a much larger star burns more fuel than a smaller star. This difference in fuel efficiency
forms the basis for how stars receive categorization. In the eco friendly section of the star dealership,
one may find the most humble of all celestial objects: The red dwarf. As the name implies, they
usually only possess half the size of our sun or less. The red dwarf s small size and lack of resources
in its creation places it firmly as the most common star in the universe; though, their lack of size hides
from the naked eye. Despite this shortcoming, red dwarfs possess one advantage over their larger and
brighter counterparts: Life expectancy. Of course, these monstrous spheres of ignited hydrogen
possess no life, but scientists consider them alive until they run out of fuel and burn out, and red
dwarfs take a long time to burn out. In fact, in the Universe s 13 billion year long existence, every red
dwarf to ever form remains burning to this day. This longevity, combined with their abundance, makes
a planet in a red dwarf star system the perfect candidate for the first interstellar colony; so despite their
relatively quiet existence, these little guys potentially hold the future of humanity. Want more power
than one of those red dwarfs could ever provide? Look no further than the Blue Giant. These monsters
range from twenty five to one hundred times the size of our sun. Unlike the relatively cool (3,500
degrees celsius) red dwarfs, blue giants burn

It is one of the most iconic basins in Australia. Today we will be talking about the history of the basin and the people who live there. Over 2 million people live in the Basin but, people who live outside the Basin still heavily rely on the water from it, so over a total of 3.3 million people need water from the Basin. The basin also supplies food for these aboriginal people, like the native fish in the area for all of the nations. There are 45 aboriginal nations in the basin, compared to Australia having over 500 nations. It hasn t always been aboriginals living in the basin, European settlers have used the river system ... • 3. Essay on Small Business Small Business 2 In accessing the Equal Employment Opportunity Office (EEOC) website, I found it very hard to find a clear and concise reason as to why small businesses were treated differently than the larger businesses and why the law would differentiate between them. These smaller organizations are sometimes treated differently by the EEOC because they lack the resources that most large companies possess. Most small businesses can t afford to hire the best qualified people that larger businesses can and do. They may not be able to hire people that fit into the different classes (EEOC, 2008). For example, they may want to hire someone with a disabili ty but really can t afford to because they would have to make ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many Small Business 4 different laws that are enforced by EEOC for small businesses one of which is the Title VII of the Civil Rights of 1964. This law makes it illegal to discriminate against any person based on race, color, religion, national origin, or sex. This law also makes it unlawful to retaliate against a person because the person complained about discrimination or filed a charged of discrimination (Laws Enforced by EEOC). Equal Pay Act of 1963 law is equally important to small businesses. This law makes it unlawful to pay different salaries to men and women when they both are performing the exact same job. The Equal Pay Act does not exclude all disparities in wage rates paid men and women but only those disparities based only on gender (Twomey, D, and Jennings, M.M., 2011, p. 848). Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, this law also enforced by the EEOC is intended to protect individuals who are 40 years or older from discrimination because of age. It covers all private employers with 20 or more employees (small business) (Anderson, R.A., Fox, 1., Twomey, D.P., and Jennings, M.M., 1993). Title I and Title V of the Americans with Disabilities Act 1990. This is also administered by the EEOC to aid small businesses. • 4. The Great Deal Of Military Scholarship There has been a great deal of military scholarship written on the greatest battles of the world and has influenced these armed forces fighting in these grand battles. Two of these scholarships are discussed by Victor Davis Hanson, a military historian specializing on classical warfare and a current professor at California State University, and John A Lynn, a military historian specializing in early modern Europe and is a current professor at University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. Both books discuss cultural linkage in terms of successful armies and how the victor s culture resulted in victory, but thesis is problematic because he creates a staunch dichotomy of western battle virtues versus every other armed force in the world. An ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The high motivation of the soldier often goes hand in hand with the freedom of the soldier fighting. This idea of the soldier s freedom begins in the Greek city state as mentioned by Hanson gives these men a sense of individualism, which creates the idea that men are fighting for their families as well as fighting for their livelihood. Hanson also mentions the strict discipline and training of the soldier. This strict training allows for the militaries to be more effective in smaller numbers and Hanson uses the Battle of Rorke s Drift between the African Zulu s and The British Royal Army. Though the Zulus vastly outnumbered the British, as well as possessed the same weaponry, they were very well trained and by using decisive battle and weaponry techniques they were able to defeat the Zulu army. The largest piece of the thesis that supports the fact that Western armies are dominant on the battlefield is their ability to adapt and become flexible. Hanson points out that the Japanese had better planes than the Americans in the Battle of Midway, but it was the ability of the Americans to utilize their technology well that eventually lead to an American victory. Hanson also mentions that Western armies are almost amoral ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay about The Zebra Mussel Populations of the zebra mussel, Dreissena polymorpha (Pallas), were first found in the Laurentian Great Lakes in 1988 (Hebert et al., 1989). This species is native to the Caspian, Aral, and Black Seas and the rivers that drain into them but has spread throughout Europe, principally during the 18th century. Since it is restricted to estuarine and freshwater habitats, it is presumed that it was introduced into North America by ballast waters of transoceanic vessels. Based on the substantial amount of genetic variation found in these initial populations, as estimated from electrophoretic variation of allozymes, the colonization of the Great Lakes was by a large number of immigrants and not just a few founders ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This blockage can result in heat damage to power plants and necessitates costly removal or replacement of intake pipes (Minchin and Moriarty, 1998). Colonization by zebra mussels has devastating ecological impacts on native bivalves (Mackie, 1991; Haag et al., 1993), frequently driving them to local extinction. Zebra mussels readily, perhaps preferentially, settle on native bivalves and eventually cover them over. They filter the water so efficiently that they can lower the amount of suspended food organisms below levels needed to sustain native unionids. Their success in spreading rapidly and colonizing new areas is due to two features of zebra mussel biology. Firstly, zebra mussels produce large numbers ( gt; 30,000 per female) of planktotrophic veliger larvae which can survive for 10 15 days (Hebert et al., 1989). Such larvae are well suited for efficient dispersal by water currents, especially in riverine systems. Additionally, they don t require the presence of suitable host species of fish, as do native unionid larvae. Secondly, the spread of zebra mussels is aided by their ability to attach to objects by byssal threads (the same ability that leads to their fouling problems). Because of this ability, adult zebra mussels can attach to and be spread by ships, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Separation Of Ionic Molecules Lab Report In chemistry, an ionic compound is a type of chemical bond where the ions are fixed together via an ionic bond. An ionic bond is formed when a metal reacts with non metal; in the reaction, electrons are transferred from the metal atoms to the non metal atoms forming negatively and positively charged ions. The electrostatic attraction, one of the strongest force in the universe which is caused by electric charges between the positive and negative ions, holds the ionic compounds tightly together. Consider the reaction between the metal calcium oxide (〖Ca〗^(2+)) and the non metal water (H_2 O), which react together to yield the ionic compound calcium hydroxide (Ca(〖OH)〗_2). In this reaction, calcium oxide donated its electron which was a negatively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Meaning, compounds with the same type of bonding tend to be soluble with one another. Polar substances would dissolve in polar solvents such as water, however, would not dissolve in non polar solvents. Non polar substances dissolve in non polar solvents but do not dissolve in polar ones. Most ionic compounds are able to be dissolved in water as the water molecules hydrate ions. For an ionic compound to be dissolved, the water molecules must stabilize the ions, which thus would result in the separation of the ionic bond to form a solution. Water is a polar molecule, it has a permanent dipole. The oxygen atom has a partial negative charge whilst the hydrogen atom has a partial positive charge. When an ionic substance is placed in to the water, the water molecules would quickly attract the charged ions from the substance. They then become free to move about. However, this only occurs when the attractive forces between the water molecules and ions are stronger than the attractive forces within the ionic compound. CaOH is a slightly insoluble compound, the solubility of CaOH is approximately 0.189 g/100 mL of water at 20. A more soluble ionic compounds solubility such as NaCl is only 35.7 g/100 mL of water at 20°C. CaOH is only slightly insoluble as calcium and oxygen are +2 and 2 ions in ... • 7. Technology Based Learning Essay Technology based learning (TBL) constitutes learning via electronic technology, including the Internet, intranets, satellite broadcasts, audio and video conferencing, bulletin boards, chat rooms, webcasts, and CD ROM. TBL also encompasses related terms, such as online learning and web based learning that only include learning that occurs via the Internet, and computer based learning that is restricted to learning through the use of computers. E learning is synonymous with TBL and has largely replaced it in scholarship and industry as the term of choice. TBL holds the promise of substantially transforming the way learning takes place because of its numerous advantages. Among these, TBL fosters greater accessibility to learning by offering anytime and anywhere delivery. It is readily scalable to both large and small groups since it can accommodate larger numbers of learners at little extra cost and smaller groups of learners that otherwise would not be able to participate in traditional classroom training for lack of enrollments. Further, the content of TBL courses, especially those that are delivered online, can be centrally developed and updated whenever the need arises; therefore, the cost of replacing outdated course materials and retraining teachers and instructors drops significantly. From the learners point of view, TBL can be self paced and matched to the learner s needs, and, building on pedagogy that emphasizes the merits of discovery learning, it offers ... There is so many good parts to it: the decorations and colors, the delicious food, and being with our loving, caring families. However, the very best part is that we get to celebrate Christ s birth and listen or sing carols that reflect Him. Mary Did You Know, a christmas carol, shows what Jesus did during His life. This song has background, scripture, and definitions some may not understand. Buddy Greene and Mark Lowry came together to write this carol. Mark Lowry is a Christian songwriter, comedian, and singer. Buddy Greene is also a songwriter and singer. They included scripture in this song, but instead of verses, they used only words. For example, the words in the third verse, Lord of all Creation and the Great I Am are mentioned in the bible. One thing confusing in this song is when it uses the word delivered as a homonym. The following question arises from the assentation: what exactly makes the Guggenheim Bilbao an architectural masterpiece? Between art and architecture, there is a lifelong bond. They are rather like light and shadow; one cannot exist without the other. Even the word masterpiece , used here to describe something architectural, holds a strong connotation with fine arts. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... DoD Directive In further refining the role or limitations for a Chaplain, the Department of Defense provides directives to bring clarity to more specific issues. The Chaplain is viewed as the subject matter expert (SME) on religion. With this in mind, and his/her position as personal staff officer to the commander, they are called on to advise commanders on issues pertaining to religion and the accommodation thereof. Department of Defense Directive 1300.17 indicates specific guidance to the acceptance of religious accommodations. Since the military places high value (DoD Directive 1300.7) on the right to free exercise of religion, commands are encouraged to accommodate religious needs where appropriate. While on the outset, this does not apply directly to the Chaplain, he/she is the SME on all matters pertaining to religion. Therefore, this directive again narrows, limits, the scope of the Chaplain to religious matters. Commanders are encouraged to utilize the expertise of the Chaplain when determining when and how to accommodate religious practices. This fosters greater unit cohesion and unit readiness as it pertains to spiritual fitness and resiliency (DoD Directive 1300.7). Army Regulation In the scope of understanding the role of a Chaplain, service level regulations contain the most specific detail on limitations and refinement. My girlfriend has been cooking me some spinach, baked chicken, rice, fish, lean beef and pork, tofu and plenty of other nutritious foods. However, that came to a screeching halt this weekend. I have been eating plenty of protein lately, but my body was screaming for carbohydrates! As a result, I succumbed to a three piece extra crispy, dark meat chicken meal from KFC. That, plus the sweet corn and cheesy macaroni as side dishes, released more endorphins than a marathon runner s high! Unfortunately, the fat and calorie rife meal of a lifetime, after several but fish, chicken breast, pork and water, did not end with Colonel Sanders brand of comfort food. After eating such high calorie, high fat foods, I figured my attempt to keep healthy was ruined. I started to have sugar cravings. I don t mean fruit sugars, I mean cake batter and cookies and cream flavored yogurt topped with mini M M s, cheesecake pieces and gummy bears! Baskin Robbins was right across the street, so I took myself there and ate a double dipped waffle cone with all the toppings and trimmings. Truth is, fast food is cheap, tastes great, and much ... • 36. Essay on Nervous Conditions by Tsitsi Dangarembga Nervous Conditions is a semi autobiographical story about Tambu, a young girl growing up in rural Rhodesia in the 1960 s, and her search for a way out for both herself and her family of the tremendous poverty of homestead life in a colonized African country. Narrated through the eyes of young Tambu, the story is told with child like simplicity about her and her family fighting to survive in a complex world of Imperialism, racism, and class and gender inequality. In hindsight, Dangarembga allows the protagonist s narrative to slowly unravel the meaning of her and her family s struggle with their assimilation into the strange and powerful culture of their rulers. The wealth of her uncle Babamukuru coupled with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Being the only male child in his father s family, Nhamo was the natural choice in whom Babamukuru s money would supply an education. He was to be the saviour of his family, their only hope of moving up, a fact that Nhamo reminded her of constantly. As time progressed, Tambu did not like the way her brother s education caused him to become embarrassed of his own family, and to despise the squalor in which they lived. His new life at Babamukuru s house at the mission had changed him, alienating him from her and his parents. She was not upset the day her brother died, and felt no guilt for her feelings about him. I was sad for them [her family] rather than over any loss of mine, because my brother had become a stranger to me. I was not sorry that he had died, but I was sorry for him because, according to his standards, his life had been thoroughly worth living (p. 55 56). Her brother s death, together with her own ingenuity and hard work, soon allowed her to take Nhamo s place at the mission as the family scholar and benefactor. In the end, it is her coming into her own feelings, feelings about the way she herself deals with the new world that had been opened up to her, both its rewards and costs, that does as much to shape her life as any of the education she receives at school. Babamukuru is the headmaster at the mission where Tambu attends school. He is well educated in Western teaching and a stern and stubborn man. He is a kind ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Theme Of Character Development In To Kill A Mockingbird The two main storylines in Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird are the trial of Tom Robinson, who is accused of raping a girl, and the mystery around Arthur Boo Radley. Throughout the story, we can see the character development of young Jean Louise Scout Finch through these two events which is one of the indicators that this book falls into the category of Coming of age literature. Other elements however indicate that To Kill a Mockingbird can be seen as a Gothic Novel or even a subgenre of Gothic namely Southern Gothic. The characteristics of a character in a Gothic Novel are a virginal maiden or a damsel in distress who is young, pure, innocent and kind. Other characters include a hero, a villain, a madman, ruffians or even supernatural beings. The damsel in distress, who is to be saved by a male person, is not the main character Scout in this case, since it would sexualize a child if she were to be portrayed as a virginal maiden, but the daughter of Mr. Ewell, Mayella. She in this case lost her virginity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though she is not mentally unstable or broken she tries to find her place in life and in society as well. Throughout the book, Scout does not only seem to be appalled by the racism of her peers and thus cannot relate to them, she also is in a state of inner conflict about the gender role society, portrayed here in particular by her aunt Alexandra, and would prefer it if she would not have to follow society s conventions. Even though To Kill a Mockingbird does not feature supernatural elements which are arguably some of the most prominent features of Gothic literature it can still be considered a Gothic novel since it fulfills most of the other criteria. Furthermore, due to addressing social issues and morally ambiguous characters, it classifies as a Southern Gothic novel without a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Cystochrome C Oxidase Lab Report Intro When first learning about cells, students are told the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell. While this is true, most of the energy made actually comes from the electron transport chain that occurs on the inner membrane of the mitochondria. A series of proteins are active in the electron transport chain, but the fourth one, cytochrome c oxidase, is the one that is important for our purposes. Cytochrome c oxidase is a large integral protein, that is made up of several subunits, some which provide the target of aspirin (Norman, C., et al.). The subunits together have a very important role that is universal though eukaryotic cells. Cytochrome c oxidase can reduce 250 molecules of O in a second. The energy released from the oxidation ... The R^2 value is only 0.9411, indicating that this line is not close to a perfect fit, which is also seen from the relationship of the data points to the line, but it is accurate enough to give something to go off of. From here the true concentration could be calculated by working the calculations from the 40X and 100X solutions to the pure sample. Once the true concentrations were known, the total protein in the samples could be calculated. The results of the calculations are found in Table 1. By taking the calculated total protein, and the average cytochrome c oxidase assay we are able to find the specific activity of cytochrome c. A negative value in the cytochrome c oxidase assay was preferred, as that indicated less color than the cytochrome c provided, and thus that cytochrome c oxidase was present to react. All negative numbers were converted to positive numbers, and as there was no logical way for a higher concentration of cytochrome c to occur, the samples that resulted in a positive result, were determined to be a failure to detect the presence of cytochrome c oxidase. Samples 1, 3, and 4 did not have any cytochrome c oxidase in them, and were therefore not capable of having a specific activity of cytochrome c ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Also like cars, a much larger star burns more fuel than a smaller star. This difference in fuel efficiency forms the basis for how stars receive categorization. In the eco friendly section of the star dealership, one may find the most humble of all celestial objects: The red dwarf. As the name implies, they usually only possess half the size of our sun or less. The red dwarf s small size and lack of resources in its creation places it firmly as the most common star in the universe; though, their lack of size hides from the naked eye. Despite this shortcoming, red dwarfs possess one advantage over their larger and brighter counterparts: Life expectancy. Of course, these monstrous spheres of ignited hydrogen possess no life, but scientists consider them alive until they run out of fuel and burn out, and red dwarfs take a long time to burn out. In fact, in the Universe s 13 billion year long existence, every red dwarf to ever form remains burning to this day. This longevity, combined with their abundance, makes a planet in a red dwarf star system the perfect candidate for the first interstellar colony; so despite their relatively quiet existence, these little guys potentially hold the future of humanity.
