William Shakespeare s The Elizabethan Era
William Shakespeare, possibly the greatest writer in English language, had different views about the
world than most writers. Shakespeare completely disagreed with the Elizabethan society he lived in
and with the concept of time. He found his society s views unproductive and incorrect and he believed
that time should not be a part of life, since it causes too much harm. His work showed how he viewed
the concept of love and friendship and how someone cannot live his or her life properly without loving
someone and being loved in return. Shakespeare s worldview and the society he resided in become
illuminated throughout his work, especially in his sonnets. His work reflects the importance of love
and friendship as well as his disagreement with time and the Elizabethan Era s views. William
Shakespeare lived his life and wrote his works during the Elizabethan Era. His writing in his sonnets
often differed with the Elizabethan worldview. For example, the Elizabethan society believed in a
strong hierarchal system. However, Shakespeare often wrote about a strong female. And yet, by
heaven, I think my love as rare/ As any She belied with false compare (Shakespeare, Sonnet 130).
Shakespeare believed that a female can be just as strong, sometimes even stronger, than a male. His
rejection of feminine qualities continue to intrigue today s writers. Shakespeare s insistence through
his speaker in Sonnet 130 to have a real, flesh and blood mistress rather than an ideal goddess is

Questions On Http And Ftp
Q).HTTP and FTP?
HTTP :
HTTP is short for Hypertext Transfer Protocol, and includes the basic rules for displaying a web page
on the screen of a computer, smart phone, tablet, or any mobile device.
FTP :
FTP is short for File Transport Protocol a program that allows users and computers to send and receive
large portions of data through a private or public network. It can also be used to send configuration
files to network devices, such as switches and routers.
File Transport Protocol, or FTP, is an open protocol standard that is widely used to transport and
receive large files. FTP can be used to send and receive large files. FTP can also be used to send
configuration files and software updates for network switches and routers. It uses ports for
communications and also uses encryption to protect the information being received and sent.
Differences between HTTP and FTP :
The difference between the two is that
HTTP is a protocol used by the World Wide Web that allows the transfer of files from a web server to
a user s web browser for viewing web pages on the Internet, while the FTP protocol is used to transfer
files from a computer to and from an FTP server. FTP facilitates the transfer of files from one
computer to another.
HTTP transfers only web page content to the browser so as to view it. The transferred file is not saved
in the memory space. FTP, on the other hand, transfers the whole file to the another computer, and the
file is saved in memory.
HTTP does not

Biofuels as an Alternative Fuel Source
Some organisms produce energy by photosynthesis. These organisms convert sunlight to energy that is
chemical, and this energy is in the form of sugar (Freedman 2013). The sugars from these organisms
can be used as biofuels by fermenting the sugars (Bourne 2007). Some photosynthetic organisms are
more efficient than others. Based on our reading, I found out that algae plants are the most efficient
organism for biofuel because they do not have cellulose and lignin that sugarcane and corn both
possess (Bourne 2007). Biofuels could eventually replace diesel fuels that we continuously use, and
will soon run out of. Diesel fuels have been proven to damage the environment, and biofuels would
help this issue.
Biofuels would not be bad for the environment because they come straight from the environment, and
with biofuels there would be no dangerous or bad chemicals released into the atmosphere. Each
photosynthetic organism collects the sunlight in different ways because of their pigments (lab manual
2013). Different types of pigments in the organism absorb different wavelengths. The wavelength that
travels the deepest in water is blue, which is 450 500nm. Before starting the experiment, my group
was curious to what color of light would produce the biggest biomass, and what kind of pigment
would be in our organism. We were given the algae chlorella, and based our hypothesis on that. For
our hypothesis, we thought there would be a difference in biomass between red and blue light, and

Marigolds By Eugenia Collier Essay
Elements of a Short Story Essay Living in poverty and having to face one s crumbling society is
extremely stressful. In Eugenia Collier s short story, Marigolds, the main character, Lizabeth, and the
other citizens of the town she lives in, including her parents, her friends, and Miss Lottie, must learn
to cope with that stress, and in Lizabeth s case, learn how to deal with the effects of maturation. The
different types of conflict within Marigolds are man versus man, man versus society, and man versus
self because Lizabeth has to face peer pressure, the living conditions brought by the Great Depression,
as well as the development of her own emotions. Due to the lack of entertainment, Lizabeth and her
friends have to resort to bothering Miss Lottie for fun, and they compel Lizabeth to ransack the
marigolds Miss Lottie pours her love into. At first, she is hesitant to perform such an immature act, but
her friends continue to taunt her, jeering, You scared, Lizabeth? (Collier 3). Their attitude influences
her negatively;not only does it encourage behavior that is pointless and problematic, it also makes
Lizabeth feel as if she is somehow less of a person if she does ... Show more content on

The desire to continue seeing the world through rose tinted glasses despite any occurrences that may
force one to do otherwise is understandable;most individuals have likely experienced this emotion at
least once in their lives. This type of conflict is man versus self because Lizabeth is uncomfortable
with this change, as she wants to continue to have fun with the mind of a child but cannot help but feel
guilty for her actions. As a result of the problems she faces, Lizabeth becomes

Windows 7
Windows 7 is the latest release of Microsoft Windows, a series of operating systems produced by
Microsoft for use on personal computers, including home and business desktops, laptops, netbooks,
tablet PCs, and media center PCs.Windows 7 was released to manufacturing on July 22, 2009, and
reached general retail availability on October 22, 2009,less than three years after the release of its
predecessor, Windows Vista. Windows 7 s server counterpart, Windows Server 2008 R2, was released
at the same time.
Unlike Windows Vista, which introduced a large number of new features, Windows 7 was intended to
be a more focused, incremental upgrade to the Windows line, with the goal of being compatible with

Color Calibration Wizard, Gadgets, Recovery, Troubleshooting, Workspaces Center, Location and
Other Sensors, Credential Manager, Biometric Devices, System Icons, and Display. Windows Security
Center has been renamed to Windows Action Center (Windows Health Center and Windows Solution
Center in earlier builds), which encompasses both security and maintenance of the computer. Ready
boost on 32bit editions now supports up to 256 Gigabytes of extra allocation. The default setting for
User Account Control in Windows 7 has been criticized for allowing untrusted software to be
launched with elevated privileges without a prompt by exploiting a trusted application. Microsoft s
Windows kernel engineer Mark Russinovich acknowledged the problem, but noted that malware can
also compromise a system when users agree to a prompt. Windows 7 also supports images in the RAW
image format through the addition of Windows Imaging Component enabled image decoders, which
enables raw image thumbnails, previewing and metadata display in Windows Explorer, plus full size
viewing and slideshows in Windows Photo Viewer and Windows Media Center. The taskbar has seen

Australia During Ww2 Essay
During World War II, which lasted from 1939 to 1945. Australia suffered many military threats. At the
time heavily relying on their British allies however over the course of many significant battles such as
the battle of Coral sea, the battle of Midway, the battle of Guadalcanal, the battle for northern
Australia and most importantly the fall of Singapore. Left stranded and in desperate need of help
Australia found themselves turning to the United States for support. Which is ultimately why the
Australian and US alliance had its inception during World War II. Throughout different stages of the
war Australia and America supported each other. Evidently strengthening their alliance which today

The legacies of World War II also laid the foundation for great economic and social change in the
second half of the 20th century (Oxford Textbook 2016 pg312). The presence of over 1 million
American service personnel in Australia had a big cultural impact. For many women these men would
become husbands and boyfriends who would then later shape the future generations of the country.
The influence of American cinema, language and culture made its first impression at this time. Most
Australians at the time had mixed feelings about what they called a cultural invasion however most
adapted and grew to love the new things brought into their society and the younger Australians found
American music, dress and slang very fascinating at the time and to this date still do. However,
Australians weren t the only ones experiencing changes in culture and society service personnel and
troops that went back home also took a little bit of Australia with them and so people in America got

The Greatest Hero Figure Of Ancient Mesopotamia Essay
It is reasonable that the origin of interests and concerns of societies would fascinate many because of
the ability to learn about how the interests have been created and evolved. Learning about interests can
bring knowledge about how people in the past had believed in and how it is thought of compared to
today s society and culture. The best known individual of Mesopotamia was Gilgamesh. He was in a
cycle of stories called Epic of Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh was the greatest hero figure of ancient
Mesopotamia. Though the stories focus on the adventures of both Gilgamesh and his friend Enkidu,
the stories explored themes like ambition and the longing for immortality. These themes reflected the
interests of the urban based society that emerged in Mesopotamia. In Mesopotamia there was a quest
for order, a formation of a complex society and cultural traditions, broad influence of the society, and
Indo European migrations. There was a quest for order in Mesopotamia. During the fourth millennium
B.C.E., human population increased. Through adaptation they created states and governmental
machinery. Sumerians from the land of Sumer were dominant in Mesopotamia. In Sumer population
increased likely because of agricultural potential. There were new arrivals who were Semitic people.
Sumerians built the world s first cities. There were Sumerian cities that then established states. There
were palaces, temples and defensive walls. The impressive buildings were ziggurats which housed

How To Write An Essay On Donner s Journey To California
On April 6,1846 the Donner and Reed Party embarked on their journey to the country of California for
new opportunities and a better life. This was the driving force that called pioneers to make the long
1,500 mile journey across plains, mountains, and desert. However the Donners had encountered such
difficulties that no man or woman should experience, and barely made it to California alive. At the
start of the journey the Reeds and Donners encountered not one problem and reached Fort Laramie
with ease. We are now on the Platte, 200 miles from Fort Laramie. I never could have believed we
could have traveled so far with so little difficulty. Indeed, if I do not experience something far worse

Eventually that frustration is turned about one another and Reed was banished for killing John Snyder.
The crew still made it across the plain but their Hearty spirit was now tainted. Their misfortune
continued as Indians attacked them and poisoned 21 of their cattle, inevitably killing them. They had
sent two men for supplies but they still hadn t returned from the mission and the party was starved.
Tired and hungry the pack forged on towards the Sierras. Fortunately the two men they had sent for
supplies returned just before they attempted to cross the summit. Their luck didn t last and when they
reached the summits bottom, the first snow started to fall and a storm quickly followed. Their food
quickly ran out and they were stranded just 150 miles from Ft. Sutter. Patrick Dolan dies just a few
days into the storm and the group is starved and now sees the rotting carcass as a source of food, and
Dolan is the first human to be eaten. Slowly people die and are quickly eaten and soon a total of 12
men and women had died. Though Reed who was banished had reached Ft. Sutter was preparing
rescue parties for the rest of the group and his family. The 12 dead preserved the party and eventually
Reed had found them, but was only capable of bringing half the party at a time. The

EXAMINING NATIONAL IDENTITY
Research Question:
How do sociological and psychological needs affect form, national identity, and concept in the
contemporary world? What is the importance of cultural identity? And why is it important? These are
a few question I would answer in the following study. The objective is to understand the early or
modern concepts representing cultural or national uniqueness. This research proposes, the designs and
concepts to be crafted more than being engineered (Norman D, 1990), so that every culture is unique
in itself, and analysing Australian national identity in connection with globalization, culture, art, and
society. Examining greek culture in the previous assignment made us familiar with the concept and
will also help to analyze the Australian National identity.

Persuasive Essay On Security And Security
Crime is not new to the world; as a matter of fact, the crime rate is gradually increasing and terrorist
attacks are still rampant since the 9/11 bombing incident. In response, the government created ways to
prevent such wickedness to happen with technology such as data encryption, information gathering,
and electronic surveillance. This raises concern from the community on how much and should the law
enforcement agencies have access to such information. Even though security and safety was the main
goal for such response, limits should be considered on to what extent are they able to gather
information on people. The privacy of an individual should be of higher priority than their security in
the eyes of the law. By its very nature, law enforcement is an information rich activity. One example
of this is the battle between the FBI and Apple company in February 2016. The FBI called on Apple to
help them hack an iPhone belonging to Islamic State inspired terrorist Syed Rizwan Farook, who had
opened fire on a local government office building in San Bernardino in December 2015, killing 14
people. This is for the FBI to be able to see and trace the motives and any other plans of the terrorist.
Although Apple had given some data about Farook s iPhone activities, the FBI wanted more from his
iPhone to the extent that they wanted it encrypted. Yet, the Apple refused to comply with the FBI s
demand stating that they will not only expose

Florence Nightingale
Colleen Worth Florence Nightingale January 28, 2008
Throughout history, wars have emphasized the need for nurses. During the Crimean War (1854 1856),
the deficiency of care given to soldiers led to a public outcry in Great Britain. Florence Nightingale
played an impressive role in addressing this problem.
Florence Nightingale was born in Italy on May 12, 1820 into a rich, upper class, wealthy and
intellectual family. She believed she was called by God to help others and to improve the well being of
mankind. She was determined to become a nurse despite societal restrictions and opposition from her
family. She received three months of training in nursing in Kaiserwerth in 1847. After studying in
Paris with the Sisters of Charity, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She used this money to develop the Nightingale Training School for Nurses, which opened in 1860. Its
graduates traveled to other countries to manage hospitals and institute nurse training programs
(Kozier, 2004).
Florence Nightingale defined nursing as the act of utilizing the environment of the patient to assist
him in his recovery (Kozier, 2004). Nightingale considered a clean, well ventilated, and quiet
environment essential for recovery. She linked health with five environmental factors: pure or fresh
air, pure water, efficient drainage, cleanliness, and light. She believed that deficiencies in these five
factors produced lack of health or illness. She also stressed the importance of keeping the client warm,
maintaining a noise free environment, and attending to the client s diet (Kozier, 2004).
Florence Nightingale was considered the pioneer of modern nursing. She sets an example for nurses
everywhere of compassion and commitment to patient care. Throughout her life she continued to
improve health standards. In recognition of her hard work she was awarded the Royal Red Cross in
1883 by Queen Victoria. She received many honors throughout her life including the Order of Merit in
1907 (Florence Nightingale Museum Trust, 2003).

A Brief Note On The Aviation Safety Agency
With ICAO s leading, aviation safety has been developed internationally. As mentioned before, FAA
and ICAO worked together to provide safer operations in the airports globally. ICAO published their
Safety Management Manual(SMM) for providing acceptable safety performance throughout the
world. Civil aviation authorities get benefit out of these manuals and shared data. SMS requirements
provided by ICAO paved a path for every aviation organization to develop safety policies and safety
procedures. In February 2009 European Aviation Safety Agency(EASA) met with FAA, ICAO and
Transport Canada Civil Aviation(TCCA). The meeting was set to spread SMS throughout Europe and
America. Participants agreed on sharing SMS knowledge and established Safety Management
International Collaboration Group(SM ICG). SM ICG was set to meet semiannually and also with
teleconferences to develop SMS with projects and research groups. Each organization works
voluntarily for collaboration and affiliation to spread SMS knowledge all over the world. During
establishment of SM ICG, it is agreed that there would be interference with stakeholders in the
aviation industry. It is also agreed that CAST and ECAST which is European Commercial Aviation
Safety Team would work collaboratively for more reliable data sharing. The current core membership
of the SM ICG includes the Aviation Safety and Security Agency (AESA) of Spain, the National Civil
Aviation Agency (ANAC) of Brazil, the Civil Aviation Authority of

The Extinction Of The Wolf Populations
In the past several years news organizations have reported that the wolf populations have been
dwindling and researchers are attempting to bring the wolf populations back to what they should be.
The population on Royal Isle has been struggling to survive. Many populations are suffering on the
island and researchers are struggling to make the population hit a point where they are able to survive
without overpopulating or under populating. The wolf population in upper Michigan has now hit a
high where people are starting to hunt them to protect wildlife. It used to be a very small population
but now it is thriving which will cause adverse consequences. This is also a struggle in Yellowstone
National Park. People have a lot of different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The animals who ate off of the scrapes from wolf kills now have to go to other places to find protein
and food (Kluger). Once the scientists thought that the population was getting to low the new pack
was introduced. Once the new pack was introduced the other animal populations got more under
control. The coyotes were brought back down to a manageable size which helped the other
populations come back to normal range. This is a good sign because now the environment can go back
to the way it should be and be lush again. Now that the wolf population is back to where it should be,
other concerns have come into the topic. The grey wolf is a protected species that cannot be hunted in
any way. This is causing problems with the locals. Many farmers feel that they need to protect their
livestock by whatever means necessary. With the wolves being protected they cannot shot them like
they would back in the older times. The wolf population that was introduced back in 1995 is from
Canada though. They are also considered an experimental group because they are being observed.
This causes concern to the civilians living near the wolves. The wolves in the experimental group can
be shot or killed to protect livestock but the protected group cannot. If the protected group is killed
there would be consequences. This leaves a question every time a wolf is shot as to whether or not the
wolf is

Lab Report On Red Cabbage Indicator
Red Cabbage Indicator Experiment
Aim: The aim of our investigation was to identify and understand how different chemicals (Acids,
alkalis and neutral) react and experience a change in colour due of this.
Introduction:
The red cabbage indicator shows how a usual household product such as red cabbage can make a
suitable indicator and be able find out if a chemical is either and acid, alkali or neutral. Acids are a
chemical that reacts with an alkali neutralising it producing water and a salt. Acids are also commonly
found to be sour tasting. Acids react with metals, releasing hydrogen gas and leaving behind a salt
they also can conduct electricity. Acids also readily give off hydrogen ions and have a pH level lower
than 7. Some more common laboratory acids are Hydrochloric, Sulphuric and Nitric Acids. Sulphuric
acids and water are used in car batteries as the electrolyte.
Bases or alkali are a chemical that will react with acids and usually have a slimy or soapy feeling on
contact with skin. Bases readily accept hydrogen ions and has a pH level that is higher the 7. Bases
have a bitter taste and neutralise d by acids, producing water and a salt. Some common laboratory
bases are Sodium Hydroxide, Potassium Hydroxide and Calcium Hydroxide. Stronger bases are
commonly used today in many cleaning products.
Indicators help us find wether if a chemical is an acid or base. The scale that is used to find wether a
chemical is an acid or a base is the pH scale. The pH scale gives

A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur s Court
Even though the setting of both works, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur s Court by Mark Twain
and The Crucible by Arthur Miller, are written in a time period different from their publication, both
works use characters in their novels as a critique of the author s societies. Twain uses his satirical
work to make fun of both the Northern and Southern, but does not make any direct comparisons
between the characters of his novel to real life figures. On the other hand, the characters in Miller s
novel are more directly correlated to specific people and groups during the Second Red Scare.

During the Second Red Scare the Hollywood Ten were a group of ten actors, directors, and producers
who according to Senator Joseph Mccarthy had communist ties and were trying to spread Soviet
Propaganda through American society by way of media. Even though these actors may have had slight
ties to communism Miller believed that they did not deserve to be blacklisted from all of media after
the trials. Miller uses John Proctor, the protagonist of his novel, to show the unfairness of these trials.
Proctor, while not perfect, was the most sane and righteous man in the town of Salem during the
events of the novel, but he still was put in jail for a crime that Miller believed would be minor in the
eyes of his audiences. Proctor committed adultery, but did not commit any crimes that would have
been generous to Miller s audiences. Even for this slight crime Proctor was put to death by the judges
of Salem. This is in comparison to the treatment of the Hollywood Ten by Mccarthy and Congress
during the Second Red Scare, where there crimes were slight, but they were put to death anyway due
to a power trip by a a few people in power. This direct comparison between Proctor and the
Hollywood Ten allowed Miller to make the Hollywood Ten seem more innocent and worthy of trust.
His use of unfair treatment against Proctor also made it seem to the audiences that Mccarthy and his

Hunger And The Positive Effects Of Hunger Today
Feed the Issue
Relating to something you never experienced, proposes difficulty. You experience the refreshing
feeling of doing a cartwheel, but never felt the sensation a gymnast feels as they flip through the air.
Likewise, your stomach growls a few times here and there, but you never experienced true hunger.
Hunger so bad called starvation, malnutrition, undernourishment, or poverty. To make an impact on
the issue of hunger today, it stands important to consider the current issue and the positive effects of
donating to a strong organization.
Of all the children in the world, hunger remains the leading cause of death (Turk). An estimated 6,200
children die from hunger or hunger related causes each day (Feed My Starving Children). That means
about 3.1 million children every year. In children under the age of five, poor nutrition continues to be
responsible for forty five percent of the deaths (Turk).
The majority of hungry people can be found living in developing regions (World Hunger, Poverty
Facts, Statistics 2016). Of people suffering from hunger, ninety eight percent live in developing

Separation Anxiety As A Medical Condition
Introduction
A mother leaves the room where her baby becomes heartbroken because she is not there to comfort
him and care for him could this be separation anxiety. Separation Anxiety Disorder is a medical
condition were children usually ranging in ages from 8 months to 14 years of age have distress when
they are away from their parents and/or caregiver. Separation Anxiety can affect a person s life
dramatically by limiting them from engaging in ordinary day to day activities. Children with
separation anxiety disorder may become severely anxious and agitated even when just anticipating
being away from their home or primary caregiver.

Symptoms of children suffering from separation anxiety at home refuse to go to school, refuse to go
on outings, difficulty sleeping alone, and scary dreams about being separated.
Opposing views The number of those suffering from separation anxiety has increased. The disorder
may have primed those who suffer from it to other forms of anxiety. Such as panic disorders which is
a psychiatric disorder in which debilitating anxiety and fear arise frequently and without reasonable
cause and agoraphobia which is Fear of places and situations that might cause panic, helplessness, or
embarrassment (Www2.massgeneral.org 2015). Psychoanalytic theories have different views on
separation anxiety and where it belongs in children development. Some Psychiatrist believes that
separation anxiety is a result from the unconscious conflicts that are internal (Bowlby N.D.). Viewing
it from this point of view the fear of losing a mother by separation is not regarding real danger. Freud
considers the main experience of separation from protecting the mother or caregiver the prototype
situation of anxiety and compares it to generating fear of separation experiences. In his opinion
anxiety originates from two factors: physiological fact begins at the time of birth but then first
traumatic situation is separation from mother/ caregiver. His point of view can be looked at as
behavioral theories. Behavioral theories suggest separation anxiety to be conditioned or learned from

Similarities Between The Balloon And The Red Balloon

Love and Friendship
Stopping for a few seconds to admire a flower, an insect, a phenomenon of nature, an architecture,
etc., in days full of worries, have become memorable. Also, all these seconds sent me every time into a
wonderful world, just like Confucius said, Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it . The
short films The Balloon directed by Martynas Zaremba and The Red Balloon directed by Albert
Lamorisse have the plot people s reaction for a few seconds at sight of a black balloon. The Balloon
film submits a series of reactions from various people in the city caused by a simple black balloon
with no intended meaning. The balloon starts to appear above the city one night while people were
sleeping. The Red Balloon , too shows an emotional story of friendship between a boy called Pascal,
and his red balloon. The writer and director Lamorisse succeeds through fiction to combine reality, the
wonder, and the magic of this friendship. In both short films, the main focus is a floating balloon, but I
believe that their differences are more striking than their similarities. Both films The Balloon and The
Red Balloon have a similar high point. In my opinion The Balloon high point is that when the balloon
appears on a street where a bad boy with a knife in his hand is ready to commit an act of violence. The
presence of the balloon in that area stops the bad boy to commit it. Moreover, the bad boy looks his
way to sky to admire the balloon for a few seconds. Likewise, the balloon from Lamorisse s film
avoid an act of violence. For example, a gang of older kids chases Pascal around city, determined to
steal and destroy his balloon. The red balloon performs a miracle, it saves little Pascal from that chase.
It sacrifices itself and lets itself tortured with stones to save Pascal s life. Furthermore, the red balloon
dies for this cause. However, in three distinct ways, The Balloon and The Red Balloon films are
almost opposites. First of all, their score is very different. The Balloon film sound source is the song
with lyrics titled Time to Leave of the band Suicide DJs. The lyrics can provide depth, powerful to the
song, and make the audience to

The Song By Bruce Springsteen
I was not born in the United States; yet, Bruce Springsteen s Born in the U.S.A. hit from his 1984
album by the same title is still culturally and politically significant. Springsteen is one of those artists
that is still heard in modern times because of the great amount of fame he has acquired throughout his
career. The song bring some attention to the wrongdoings of the United States government in their
treatment of their veterans, especially after the Vietnam War. It raises awareness by using a catchy
melody to draw listeners in; but Springsteen fails to achieve his ultimate goal of influencing young
adults to protest against their government because the memorable words in the chorus overshadow the
plot in the verses. This makes the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Springsteen s choice to involve himself in political issues, although not explicitly, was something that
was building up throughout his life as he transitioned from a young adult to an adult in his mid
thirties. As explained by New York Times writer Nicholas Dawidoff in an article from 1997 titled The
Pop Populist , Springsteen s main concerns were not that of chasing young woman, but that of needing
to change the world around him (Dawidoff). By the time Springsteen wrote Born in the U.S.A. , he
had already built a good reputation for himself in the United States. This makes it possible for
Springsteen to influence large crowds of people to take action or, at the very least, listen to what he
has to say. Ronald Reagan used this song to praise American values. The irony of this is that the song
is doing the exact opposite of praising the United States for their role in the Vietnam War and their
treatment of their veterans. In an article titled Bruce Springsteen, Ronald Reagan and the American
Dream , Susan Mackey Kallis, an associate professor from Villanova University, with co author Ian
McDermott, explain how Springsteen, himself, spoke out against usage of music in this manner of
only paying attention to the surface (Mackey Kallis 7). This also true for many listeners throughout
the country. Listening to this song based on the

Hiroshima John Hersey Analysis
One passage from Hiroshima, written by John Hersey, was an observation from all the individuals in
the book. This passage caught my attention and it stayed with me as I read on. Hersey wrote, They still
wonder why they lived when so many others died.[...] At the time, none of them knew anything
(Hersey, 2). The quote helped me to understand the seriousness of dropping an atomic bomb. So many
people died, suffered, and were injured throughout the book. The event was horrifying to read about,
and therefore it is amazing that many were able to survive such an affair. The words, a step taken in
time, a decision to go indoors, catching one streetcar instead of the next that spared them , shows just
how crucially important every decision was. This quote made me think of all the decisions we make in
life, and how important each one is to making us the people we are today. Life is made up of so many
little decisions that have the possibility to change everything. At times, it is not always clear what the
correct decision is. However, in life or death situations such as the ones so many faced in Hiroshima
and Nagasaki, these correct decisions were what was able to save them. ... Show more content on

The Debate Regarding The Deterrent Effect Of The Death...
The use of the death penalty is one of the most controversial public policies, and laws, related to the
sanctions imposed upon individuals convicted of a capital crime, or death eligible offense, as defined
by law. The administration of the death penalty, or capital punishment, for those individuals convicted
of a capital crime remains the subject of debate because of the finality associated with executions and
whether any deterrent effect can be attributed to the use of the death penalty (Schmalleger, 2012). The

violence. His speech talks about the plight of his Native Americans peoples in the last decades of the
1800s. In the textbook it showed very little details and some details were clarified more in the

The Outbreak Of Salmonella Heidelberg
(a)
In 2011 there was a multistate outbreak of Salmonella Heidelberg infections. There were a total of 190
affected individuals from 6 states [New York (109), New Jersey (62), Pennsylvania (10), Maryland
(6), Ohio (2), and Minnesota (1)]. Research showed a correlation between the outbreak and a
contaminated kosher chicken liver product labeled as kosher broiled chicken livers from Schreiber
Processing Corporation. This product is one that not ready to eat requiring cooking before eating.
According to investigations put forth by the CDC and FDA, consumers incorrectly assumed the word
broiled on the label meant the chicken liver was ready to eat. Additionally, laboratory testing
conducted by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Laboratory Division
identified the outbreak strain of Salmonella Heidelberg in samples of the above mentioned product.
Once the specific bacterium was directly isolated and found to be present in the suspected food item, a
recall of the chicken livers was implemented.
This outbreak showed how important certain methods of prevention from foodborne illnesses are.
There are a few ways in which this outbreak could have been prevented. For example, appropriate
cooking temperatures, especially when cooking chicken liver is fundamental. Specifically, the internal
temperature of chicken liver needs to be 165 degrees F. Therefore, if the livers were being cooked
properly, then many of the ill individuals could have been

that exists within the episode is that words are mankind s greatest weapon. I believe that words may
not be able to physically hurt someone, but they can emotionally. Emotional pain is sometimes harder
to endure than physical pain. In the neighborhood, some of the neighbors like Les Goodman are
accused of being a suspect because his car randomly turned on, while everyone else s didn t start.
Though he has no effect on the aliens, a woman claims that she has seen him look up at the sky late at

Criminal Copyright And Intellectual Property Laws
Criminal copyright infringement can come in many forms. Anything that has been created by one s
mind can technically be considered intellectual property. While the initial idea itself is not something
that can be protected by copyright law, patents and actual plans from ideas can be. Many copyright
cases are of a civil nature. This occurs when a person or organization feels their intellectual property
has been used without their consent and want either compensation or for the accused party to cease
use of the material.
While civil cases aim to make the offended party whole criminal cases are intended to penalize those
who break the law. Throughout time criminal copyright legislation and penalties have changed. This is
partially due to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There seems to be no solid explanation of why this is. The No Electronic Theft Act, Digital
Millennium Copyright Act, and Digital Theft Deterrence and Copyright Damages Improvement Act of
1999 are all aimed at decreasing the threshold for what counts as criminal infringement and increasing
penalties for criminal copyright infringement (Masnick, 2012). Mike Masnick wrote his article in
2012 and the last law listed was enacted in 2008. Since this time there have been even more shifts in
how copyrights are infringed upon.
International Copyright Law When it comes to international copyright law things can get quite
complicated. To put things in the simplest possible terms, there is no one set of laws that govern all
intellectual property disputes around the world. Different countries have different rules on copyrights
and there are also different rules and levels of enforcement. There is however some common ground
among countries in the realm of intellectual property. This common ground comes in the form of
treaties. These treaties between territories help with both the protection of intellectual property and
enforcement against those who infringe upon copyrights. Copyright.gov, the United States
governments official website for information on copyright law list two treaties as being principal in
governing international

The Fat Girl Analysis
In every culture, there are certain societal standards that people are expected to live up to. Some have
find it easy to accept and fit in, while other struggle to find themselves within society s ideals. Society
places a great emphasis on the way women should look to be considered beautiful and many women
fail to live up to those standards. In the short story The Fat Girl by Andre Dubus, the reader sees how
the main character Louise, a fat girl, struggles to fit in with pressure society places on her that to be
considered beautiful, one must be thin. Louise, for the majority of her life, outwardly appears as if she
s trying to conform to society s standards of dieting and trying to be thin, but when completely alone,
she hides her guilty pleasure of binge eating candy bars. The pressure is placed upon her from her
childhood and follows her throughout her life, until her marriage falls apart after she gains weight.
Andre Dubus shows us, through the events that occur in Louise s life, that only after accepting
ourselves they way we are, despite societal pressures of conforming to a certain standard, can we
begin the road to becoming happy. She wants to be accepted for who she is, not for what she looks
like. It isn t until her marriage dissolves that she acknowledges that she needs to accept herself and be
comfortable in her own skin before she can become happy. From a young age, Louise is made aware
of the pressure society places on women to be thin. When she is nine years old, her mother starts
pointing out how Louise needs to start watching what she s eating, and places her on a diet. Her
mother tells her, In five years you ll be in high school and if you re fat the boys won t like you; they
won t ask you out (Dubus 125). Her mother tells her that if by the time she enters high school she isn t
thin, she won t have any chance of being in a relationship or being looked at as beautiful. Louise, and
many other girls who are in a similar situation, are trained at a young age to believe that beauty is
equated with being thin. This makes Louise start out life thinking that she ll never be good enough;
she ll never be accepted by others until she becomes the ideal skinny girl. As a nine year old, she

The decades after the Civil War rapidly changed the face of the United States. The rapid

the railroads needed a standard time to go by, a prime example of the power of change that industry

Emile Durkheim Theory Of Suicide
Traditionally, suicide was thought to be a purely individual decision but French sociologist Emile
Durkheim recognized that the phenomenon had a social dimension. He believed in the influence of
society on the individual and that if anything can explain that relation, it is suicide. His use of the data
of suicide, not specific cases and reports, to study the societal trends reveals his true subject of study:
society as a whole and its role in the individual experience. Durkheim uses the study of suicide via the
quantitative methodological approach as a tool to study society as a broader whole. Suicide, to
Durkheim, is an exaggerated form of ordinary practices, and they arise from comparable states of
mind in people, with the only difference between daily and suicidal behavior being the chance of
death (Durkheim 20 21). Durkheim spends the majority of the work dissecting the apparent motives
for suicide (Durkheim 151) and observing the varieties of suicide, a feat made difficult by the
inaccurate reporting and misunderstandings of investigators. Thus, to understand the types of suicide,
we must reverse the order of our research for There can only be as many different types of suicide as
there are differences in the causes from which they derive, (Durkheim 149). He says if they were all
found to have the same essential characteristics, they would be grouped in one class but observations
that we would need to have are more or less impossible obtain (Durkheim

Soccer Benefits
Soccer has been played for nearly three thousand years and is considered the world s most popular
sport. The sport is regularly seen as a hobby however for me it is a pleasant method for learning long
lasting lessons. I was introduced to soccer when I was ten years old. I started by playing street soccer
and afterward I proceeded to playing on an actual league. As I gradually got better at soccer I picked
up abilities that I would use in everyday life. As I had stated, soccer is very popular but why are the
benefits unheard of? Why are parents not being told at all? Soccer is vital for children. Children who
play soccer experience lifelong benefits such as the building of social skills, discipline, and a healthier
lifestyle. One benefit that children gain from playing soccer is they build social skills. For example,
being able to communicate with the team is essential. When I first started I was very shy. I did not
communicate and the effect was I performed terribly on the field. Once I learned to communicate I
effectively played better. These skills also benefited me outside of the sport and I was able to make
friends effortlessly and be more comfortable with myself. Being able to communicate also helps by
being able to work as a team. Teamwork is critical because one itself cannot score a goal on its own.
Being able to depend on someone helped me work smoothly. I was also able to perform even better
than if I were to work alone on the field or on any other tasks. Social

  • 2. William Shakespeare s The Elizabethan Era William Shakespeare, possibly the greatest writer in English language, had different views about the world than most writers. Shakespeare completely disagreed with the Elizabethan society he lived in and with the concept of time. He found his society s views unproductive and incorrect and he believed that time should not be a part of life, since it causes too much harm. His work showed how he viewed the concept of love and friendship and how someone cannot live his or her life properly without loving someone and being loved in return. Shakespeare s worldview and the society he resided in become illuminated throughout his work, especially in his sonnets. His work reflects the importance of love and friendship as well as his disagreement with time and the Elizabethan Era s views. William Shakespeare lived his life and wrote his works during the Elizabethan Era. His writing in his sonnets often differed with the Elizabethan worldview. For example, the Elizabethan society believed in a strong hierarchal system. However, Shakespeare often wrote about a strong female. And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare/ As any She belied with false compare (Shakespeare, Sonnet 130). Shakespeare believed that a female can be just as strong, sometimes even stronger, than a male. His rejection of feminine qualities continue to intrigue today s writers. Shakespeare s insistence through his speaker in Sonnet 130 to have a real, flesh and blood mistress rather than an ideal goddess is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Questions On Http And Ftp Q).HTTP and FTP? HTTP : HTTP is short for Hypertext Transfer Protocol, and includes the basic rules for displaying a web page on the screen of a computer, smart phone, tablet, or any mobile device. FTP : FTP is short for File Transport Protocol a program that allows users and computers to send and receive large portions of data through a private or public network. It can also be used to send configuration files to network devices, such as switches and routers. File Transport Protocol, or FTP, is an open protocol standard that is widely used to transport and receive large files. FTP can be used to send and receive large files. FTP can also be used to send configuration files and software updates for network switches and routers. It uses ports for communications and also uses encryption to protect the information being received and sent. Differences between HTTP and FTP : The difference between the two is that HTTP is a protocol used by the World Wide Web that allows the transfer of files from a web server to a user s web browser for viewing web pages on the Internet, while the FTP protocol is used to transfer files from a computer to and from an FTP server. FTP facilitates the transfer of files from one computer to another. HTTP transfers only web page content to the browser so as to view it. The transferred file is not saved in the memory space. FTP, on the other hand, transfers the whole file to the another computer, and the file is saved in memory. HTTP does not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Biofuels as an Alternative Fuel Source Some organisms produce energy by photosynthesis. These organisms convert sunlight to energy that is chemical, and this energy is in the form of sugar (Freedman 2013). The sugars from these organisms can be used as biofuels by fermenting the sugars (Bourne 2007). Some photosynthetic organisms are more efficient than others. Based on our reading, I found out that algae plants are the most efficient organism for biofuel because they do not have cellulose and lignin that sugarcane and corn both possess (Bourne 2007). Biofuels could eventually replace diesel fuels that we continuously use, and will soon run out of. Diesel fuels have been proven to damage the environment, and biofuels would help this issue. Biofuels would not be bad for the environment because they come straight from the environment, and with biofuels there would be no dangerous or bad chemicals released into the atmosphere. Each photosynthetic organism collects the sunlight in different ways because of their pigments (lab manual 2013). Different types of pigments in the organism absorb different wavelengths. The wavelength that travels the deepest in water is blue, which is 450 500nm. Before starting the experiment, my group was curious to what color of light would produce the biggest biomass, and what kind of pigment would be in our organism. We were given the algae chlorella, and based our hypothesis on that. For our hypothesis, we thought there would be a difference in biomass between red and blue light, and ... • 5. Marigolds By Eugenia Collier Essay Elements of a Short Story Essay Living in poverty and having to face one s crumbling society is extremely stressful. In Eugenia Collier s short story, Marigolds, the main character, Lizabeth, and the other citizens of the town she lives in, including her parents, her friends, and Miss Lottie, must learn to cope with that stress, and in Lizabeth s case, learn how to deal with the effects of maturation. The different types of conflict within Marigolds are man versus man, man versus society, and man versus self because Lizabeth has to face peer pressure, the living conditions brought by the Great Depression, as well as the development of her own emotions. Due to the lack of entertainment, Lizabeth and her friends have to resort to bothering Miss Lottie for fun, and they compel Lizabeth to ransack the marigolds Miss Lottie pours her love into. At first, she is hesitant to perform such an immature act, but her friends continue to taunt her, jeering, You scared, Lizabeth? (Collier 3). Their attitude influences her negatively;not only does it encourage behavior that is pointless and problematic, it also makes Lizabeth feel as if she is somehow less of a person if she does ... • 8. The Greatest Hero Figure Of Ancient Mesopotamia Essay It is reasonable that the origin of interests and concerns of societies would fascinate many because of the ability to learn about how the interests have been created and evolved. Learning about interests can bring knowledge about how people in the past had believed in and how it is thought of compared to today s society and culture. The best known individual of Mesopotamia was Gilgamesh. He was in a cycle of stories called Epic of Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh was the greatest hero figure of ancient Mesopotamia. Though the stories focus on the adventures of both Gilgamesh and his friend Enkidu, the stories explored themes like ambition and the longing for immortality. These themes reflected the interests of the urban based society that emerged in Mesopotamia. In Mesopotamia there was a quest for order, a formation of a complex society and cultural traditions, broad influence of the society, and Indo European migrations. What is the importance of cultural identity? And why is it important? These are a few question I would answer in the following study. The objective is to understand the early or modern concepts representing cultural or national uniqueness. This research proposes, the designs and concepts to be crafted more than being engineered (Norman D, 1990), so that every culture is unique in itself, and analysing Australian national identity in connection with globalization, culture, art, and society. • 11. Persuasive Essay On Security And Security Crime is not new to the world; as a matter of fact, the crime rate is gradually increasing and terrorist attacks are still rampant since the 9/11 bombing incident. In response, the government created ways to prevent such wickedness to happen with technology such as data encryption, information gathering, and electronic surveillance. This raises concern from the community on how much and should the law enforcement agencies have access to such information. Even though security and safety was the main goal for such response, limits should be considered on to what extent are they able to gather information on people. The privacy of an individual should be of higher priority than their security in the eyes of the law. By its very nature, law enforcement is an information rich activity. One example of this is the battle between the FBI and Apple company in February 2016. The FBI called on Apple to help them hack an iPhone belonging to Islamic State inspired terrorist Syed Rizwan Farook, who had opened fire on a local government office building in San Bernardino in December 2015, killing 14 people. This is for the FBI to be able to see and trace the motives and any other plans of the terrorist. • 12. Florence Nightingale Colleen Worth Florence Nightingale January 28, 2008 Throughout history, wars have emphasized the need for nurses. During the Crimean War (1854 1856), the deficiency of care given to soldiers led to a public outcry in Great Britain. Florence Nightingale played an impressive role in addressing this problem. Florence Nightingale was born in Italy on May 12, 1820 into a rich, upper class, wealthy and intellectual family. She believed she was called by God to help others and to improve the well being of mankind. She was determined to become a nurse despite societal restrictions and opposition from her family. She used this money to develop the Nightingale Training School for Nurses, which opened in 1860. Its graduates traveled to other countries to manage hospitals and institute nurse training programs (Kozier, 2004). Florence Nightingale defined nursing as the act of utilizing the environment of the patient to assist him in his recovery (Kozier, 2004). Nightingale considered a clean, well ventilated, and quiet environment essential for recovery. She linked health with five environmental factors: pure or fresh air, pure water, efficient drainage, cleanliness, and light. She believed that deficiencies in these five factors produced lack of health or illness. She also stressed the importance of keeping the client warm, maintaining a noise free environment, and attending to the client s diet (Kozier, 2004). Florence Nightingale was considered the pioneer of modern nursing. She sets an example for nurses everywhere of compassion and commitment to patient care. Throughout her life she continued to improve health standards. In recognition of her hard work she was awarded the Royal Red Cross in 1883 by Queen Victoria. She received many honors throughout her life including the Order of Merit in 1907 (Florence Nightingale Museum Trust, 2003). References Florence Nightingale Museum Trust. (2003). • 13. A Brief Note On The Aviation Safety Agency With ICAO s leading, aviation safety has been developed internationally. As mentioned before, FAA and ICAO worked together to provide safer operations in the airports globally. ICAO published their Safety Management Manual(SMM) for providing acceptable safety performance throughout the world. Civil aviation authorities get benefit out of these manuals and shared data. SMS requirements provided by ICAO paved a path for every aviation organization to develop safety policies and safety procedures. In February 2009 European Aviation Safety Agency(EASA) met with FAA, ICAO and Transport Canada Civil Aviation(TCCA). The meeting was set to spread SMS throughout Europe and America. Participants agreed on sharing SMS knowledge and established Safety Management International Collaboration Group(SM ICG). SM ICG was set to meet semiannually and also with teleconferences to develop SMS with projects and research groups. Each organization works voluntarily for collaboration and affiliation to spread SMS knowledge all over the world. During establishment of SM ICG, it is agreed that there would be interference with stakeholders in the aviation industry. Once the scientists thought that the population was getting to low the new pack was introduced. Once the new pack was introduced the other animal populations got more under control. The coyotes were brought back down to a manageable size which helped the other populations come back to normal range. This is a good sign because now the environment can go back to the way it should be and be lush again. Now that the wolf population is back to where it should be, other concerns have come into the topic. The grey wolf is a protected species that cannot be hunted in any way. This is causing problems with the locals. Many farmers feel that they need to protect their livestock by whatever means necessary. With the wolves being protected they cannot shot them like they would back in the older times. The wolf population that was introduced back in 1995 is from Canada though. They are also considered an experimental group because they are being observed. This causes concern to the civilians living near the wolves. The wolves in the experimental group can be shot or killed to protect livestock but the protected group cannot. If the protected group is killed there would be consequences. This leaves a question every time a wolf is shot as to whether or not the wolf is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Hippies showed a different part of reality to us and to the world, a part that we did not know existed but that caused great harm to us. Hippies were members of a reform movement that was absolutely unnecessary to society. Lab Report On Red Cabbage Indicator Red Cabbage Indicator Experiment Aim: The aim of our investigation was to identify and understand how different chemicals (Acids, alkalis and neutral) react and experience a change in colour due of this. Introduction: The red cabbage indicator shows how a usual household product such as red cabbage can make a suitable indicator and be able find out if a chemical is either and acid, alkali or neutral. Acids are a chemical that reacts with an alkali neutralising it producing water and a salt. Acids are also commonly found to be sour tasting. Acids react with metals, releasing hydrogen gas and leaving behind a salt they also can conduct electricity. Acids also readily give off hydrogen ions and have a pH level lower than 7. Some more common laboratory acids are Hydrochloric, Sulphuric and Nitric Acids. Sulphuric acids and water are used in car batteries as the electrolyte. Bases or alkali are a chemical that will react with acids and usually have a slimy or soapy feeling on contact with skin. Bases readily accept hydrogen ions and has a pH level that is higher the 7. Bases have a bitter taste and neutralise d by acids, producing water and a salt. Some common laboratory bases are Sodium Hydroxide, Potassium Hydroxide and Calcium Hydroxide. Stronger bases are commonly used today in many cleaning products. Indicators help us find wether if a chemical is an acid or base. Twain uses his satirical work to make fun of both the Northern and Southern, but does not make any direct comparisons between the characters of his novel to real life figures. During the Second Red Scare the Hollywood Ten were a group of ten actors, directors, and producers who according to Senator Joseph Mccarthy had communist ties and were trying to spread Soviet Propaganda through American society by way of media. Even though these actors may have had slight ties to communism Miller believed that they did not deserve to be blacklisted from all of media after the trials. Miller uses John Proctor, the protagonist of his novel, to show the unfairness of these trials. Proctor, while not perfect, was the most sane and righteous man in the town of Salem during the events of the novel, but he still was put in jail for a crime that Miller believed would be minor in the eyes of his audiences. Proctor committed adultery, but did not commit any crimes that would have been generous to Miller s audiences. Even for this slight crime Proctor was put to death by the judges of Salem. This is in comparison to the treatment of the Hollywood Ten by Mccarthy and Congress during the Second Red Scare, where there crimes were slight, but they were put to death anyway due to a power trip by a a few people in power. Similarities Between The Balloon And The Red Balloon GEORGETA HARPAD ESL 101 JOBST Love and Friendship Stopping for a few seconds to admire a flower, an insect, a phenomenon of nature, an architecture, etc., in days full of worries, have become memorable. Also, all these seconds sent me every time into a wonderful world, just like Confucius said, Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it . The short films The Balloon directed by Martynas Zaremba and The Red Balloon directed by Albert Lamorisse have the plot people s reaction for a few seconds at sight of a black balloon. The Balloon film submits a series of reactions from various people in the city caused by a simple black balloon with no intended meaning. The balloon starts to appear above the city one night while people were sleeping. The Red Balloon , too shows an emotional story of friendship between a boy called Pascal, and his red balloon. The writer and director Lamorisse succeeds through fiction to combine reality, the wonder, and the magic of this friendship. In both short films, the main focus is a floating balloon, but I believe that their differences are more striking than their similarities. Both films The Balloon and The Red Balloon have a similar high point. In my opinion The Balloon high point is that when the balloon appears on a street where a bad boy with a knife in his hand is ready to commit an act of violence. The presence of the balloon in that area stops the bad boy to commit it. Moreover, the bad boy looks his way to sky to admire the balloon for a few seconds. Likewise, the balloon from Lamorisse s film avoid an act of violence. For example, a gang of older kids chases Pascal around city, determined to steal and destroy his balloon. The red balloon performs a miracle, it saves little Pascal from that chase. It sacrifices itself and lets itself tortured with stones to save Pascal s life. Furthermore, the red balloon dies for this cause. However, in three distinct ways, The Balloon and The Red Balloon films are almost opposites. First of all, their score is very different. The Balloon film sound source is the song with lyrics titled Time to Leave of the band Suicide DJs. The lyrics can provide depth, powerful to the song, and make the audience to ... Springsteen s choice to involve himself in political issues, although not explicitly, was something that was building up throughout his life as he transitioned from a young adult to an adult in his mid thirties. As explained by New York Times writer Nicholas Dawidoff in an article from 1997 titled The Pop Populist , Springsteen s main concerns were not that of chasing young woman, but that of needing to change the world around him (Dawidoff). By the time Springsteen wrote Born in the U.S.A. , he had already built a good reputation for himself in the United States. This makes it possible for Springsteen to influence large crowds of people to take action or, at the very least, listen to what he has to say. Ronald Reagan used this song to praise American values. The irony of this is that the song is doing the exact opposite of praising the United States for their role in the Vietnam War and their treatment of their veterans. In the short story The Fat Girl by Andre Dubus, the reader sees how the main character Louise, a fat girl, struggles to fit in with pressure society places on her that to be considered beautiful, one must be thin. Louise, for the majority of her life, outwardly appears as if she s trying to conform to society s standards of dieting and trying to be thin, but when completely alone, she hides her guilty pleasure of binge eating candy bars. The pressure is placed upon her from her childhood and follows her throughout her life, until her marriage falls apart after she gains weight. Andre Dubus shows us, through the events that occur in Louise s life, that only after accepting ourselves they way we are, despite societal pressures of conforming to a certain standard, can we begin the road to becoming happy. She wants to be accepted for who she is, not for what she looks like. It isn t until her marriage dissolves that she acknowledges that she needs to accept herself and be comfortable in her own skin before she can become happy. From a young age, Louise is made aware of the pressure society places on women to be thin. • 38. Emile Durkheim Theory Of Suicide Traditionally, suicide was thought to be a purely individual decision but French sociologist Emile Durkheim recognized that the phenomenon had a social dimension. He believed in the influence of society on the individual and that if anything can explain that relation, it is suicide. His use of the data of suicide, not specific cases and reports, to study the societal trends reveals his true subject of study: society as a whole and its role in the individual experience. Durkheim uses the study of suicide via the quantitative methodological approach as a tool to study society as a broader whole. Suicide, to Durkheim, is an exaggerated form of ordinary practices, and they arise from comparable states of mind in people, with the only difference between daily and suicidal behavior being the chance of death (Durkheim 20 21). Durkheim spends the majority of the work dissecting the apparent motives for suicide (Durkheim 151) and observing the varieties of suicide, a feat made difficult by the inaccurate reporting and misunderstandings of investigators. Thus, to understand the types of suicide, we must reverse the order of our research for There can only be as many different types of suicide as there are differences in the causes from which they derive, (Durkheim 149). He says if they were all found to have the same essential characteristics, they would be grouped in one class but observations that we would need to have are more or less impossible obtain (Durkheim ... The sport is regularly seen as a hobby however for me it is a pleasant method for learning long lasting lessons. I was introduced to soccer when I was ten years old. I started by playing street soccer and afterward I proceeded to playing on an actual league. As I gradually got better at soccer I picked up abilities that I would use in everyday life. As I had stated, soccer is very popular but why are the benefits unheard of? Why are parents not being told at all? Soccer is vital for children. Children who play soccer experience lifelong benefits such as the building of social skills, discipline, and a healthier lifestyle. One benefit that children gain from playing soccer is they build social skills. For example, being able to communicate with the team is essential. When I first started I was very shy. I did not communicate and the effect was I performed terribly on the field. Once I learned to communicate I effectively played better. These skills also benefited me outside of the sport and I was able to make friends effortlessly and be more comfortable with myself. Being able to communicate also helps by being able to work as a team. Teamwork is critical because one itself cannot score a goal on its own. Being able to depend on someone helped me work smoothly. I was also able to perform even better than if I were to work alone on the field or on any other tasks. Social ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
