June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)

While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.
How to Make a Field invisible in Odoo 17Celine George
It is possible to hide or invisible some fields in odoo. Commonly using “invisible” attribute in the field definition to invisible the fields. This slide will show how to make a field invisible in odoo 17.
2. No Pictures
• I recorded my voice to narrate my slides.
• I will be asking volunteers to act out the jobs
of the different organelles in my analogy.
• I did my project this way because I do not
learn using pictures or by seeing things.
• The best part of doing things this way is that
we all get to eat doughnuts if we are patient.
3. Volunteers needed to put on hats and
gloves:
• One nucleus (me)
• One cell membrane (hat)
• One mitochondria (hats)
• Two ribosomes (hat and gloves)
• Three Endoplasmic Reticulum (hats and gloves)
• Two Golgi Apparatus (hats and gloves)
• Two Vacuoles (hats)
• Two lysosomes (hats)
• Everyone else can be the cytoplasm!
• Turn off classroom lights to get started.
4. Proteins
• All cells make proteins in order to live and use
them for everything they do.
• Our cell today is a Krispy Kreme Shop, and the
proteins made by our cell are called
doughnuts.
• I am going to show you how each part of the
cells helps to make the doughnuts.
• We can’t eat them yet.
5. Cell Membrane
• In a cell, the cell membrane surrounds the cell
and controls what comes in and out.
• In our Krispy Kreme shop, the walls and doors are
like the cell membrane. They only let certain
things in and out, and you can only get in and out
at certain places in the membrane (doors).
• It is good to have a strong cell membrane in our
Krispy Kreme shop today so that other students
don’t come in and steal our doughnuts.
6. Mitochondria
• In a cell, mitochondria make the energy so that
the cell has power to function.
• At Krispy Kreme, the mitochondria are the
electrical wires from the power station that
supplies power to the shop.
• Nothing can happen until the mitochondria are
ready to supply power.
• Is our mitochondria ready?
• If they say ‘yes’ then they can go ahead and make
energy that turns on the lights and we can get
started.
7. Nucleus
• In a cell, the nucleus controls all functions of
the cell. It is like the brain and it is in charge!
• At Krispy Kreme, the manager is the nucleus
because he or she is in charge and makes all
the other parts of the cell do their jobs.
• I met the manager of the Krispy Kreme on
Stratford Road. He gave us the supplies. His
name is Junior.
8. Nucleus
• In a cell, the nucleus contains DNA that is like
an instruction book on how the cell should live
and function.
• At Krispy Kreme, the recipe book is like DNA
and tells the manager (the nucleus) how to
make doughnuts!
9. Ribosomes
• In a cell, a ribosome use ingredients called
amino acids and makes proteins. The nucleus
gives the instructions.
• At Krispy Kreme, the doughnut making
machine is the ribosome. The manager gives
the instructions and then the machine puts all
the ingredients together and makes the
doughnut.
10. Endoplasmic Reticulum
• In a cell, the endoplasmic reticulum is like a
tunnel. A ribosome makes the protein, spits it
into the endoplasmic reticulum tunnel to
transport it to the next step.
• At Krispy Kreme , the finished doughnuts are
transported along a moving belt. This is the
endoplasmic reticulum.
• One day I would like to touch the giant
doughnut machine.
11. Golgi Bodies
• In a cell, the Golgi bodies receive the proteins
from the endoplasmic reticulum and package
them.
• In our Krispy Kreme shop, the workers get the
doughnuts off the belt and package them in
bags and boxes. They are like the Golgi bodies.
12. Vacuoles
• In a cell, vacuoles store lots of important
things for the cell, like water and other
materials.
• In our Krispy Kreme shop, we have vacuoles
that store napkins and drinks that are
necessary when eating our doughnuts.
• Would the vacuoles and Golgi bodies please
distribute their materials to the rest of the
cell?
13. Lysosomes
• The lysosomes are like the workers who clean up
and throw away left-overs plus recycle the boxes.
• Guess what the lysosomes get to do in our Krispy
Kreme shop today?
