Corporate Governance and Auditors
CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION BACKGROUND There are a number of positive developments in
the economy since the introduction of foreign currency (multi currency system), which if sustained,
will spearhead economic recovery in the short to medium term horizon. These developments included
the introduction of the multi currency system and the liberalization of the exchange control, the
formation of government of national unity (GNU) and the engagement with multilateral institutions
and the donor community. This is already evidence of stability coupled with an increase in industrial
capacity utilization since the adoption of multi currency in February 2009.stability is projected to spur

National Alliance On Mental Illnesses
There are many organizations that have a huge impact on society, the one I chose to write about is the
National Alliance on Mental Illness, also referred to as NAMI. NAMI is the most popular mental
health organization. Members of this organization work hard to better the lives of those affected by
mental illnesses. The National Alliance on Mental Health has four priorities, those are educating,
advocating, listening, and leading. Mental health is a growing topic that is hard to ignore, this is
because organizations like the NAMI have offered many educational tools in hopes of teaching society
what mental illnesses are and how to help people struggling with mental illnesses. This organization
advocates for others suffering mental illnesses, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The NAMI has shown society how serious mental illnesses are, if one of these many illnesses is left
untreated it can lead to even more serious things. Anxiety and Depression are a deadly combination
and unfortunately, 20% of the teen population experiences and over 25 million Americans experience
it every year. Both of these mental illnesses are hard to handle and often end in suicide, 90% of people
who commit suicide have a mental disorder and 50% of these suicides are caused by depression.
Every day around 121 people kill themselves and with society s help, we can end this. Also, both of
these mental illnesses can lead to eating disorders and other serious health issues. Once everyone
realizes how serious mental illnesses are, the more help these people will

Characteristics Of Bilbo In The Hobbit
Bilbo Baggins is the last being in The Hobbit to be considered a monster. J.R.R. Tolkien made sure to
depict Bilbo as an innocent, loving, and merciful being. However the reader cannot deny the fact that
he possesses some characteristics of a monster. Dating back to the 1300s, monsters have been defined
as people whom are of abnormal form and structure. It can be argued that every species, besides the
humans, are monsters, including Hobbits like Bilbo. Furthermore Bilbo is unlike a typical Hobbit
thanks to his Tookish lineage; therefore he is even more abnormal. Their neighbors, in part because of
their wealth, have always respected the Bagginses but also because they never bother anyone (pg 3).
Bilbo eventually loses all respect of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As seen in many monster stories throughout history, such as Bisclavret and Beowulf, monsters also
live in isolation. Bilbo is no different. Hobbits are inherently known to remain in the confines of their
homes at all costs, as it provides a sense of comfort and security, similar to the role the woods play for
Bisclavret. Tolkien describes, on page 4, how Bilbo s parents settled in their hobbit hole and remained
there until their deaths, which is also where Bilbo continues to live (pg 4 5). Even after begins his
journey alongside the dwarves, he longs to sit in his home by the fire. In addition to being isolated
homebodies, Hobbit s are very fond of food. It is said that Hobbits are inclined to be fat in the stomach
(pg 4). Their gluttonous tendencies plague Bilbo through his travels as he constantly dreams of food.
The outward appearance of Bilbo and his need to live and eat separate from the world provides for a
surface level analysis of Bilbo Baggins as one of the monsters of The Hobbit.
It is important to remember that not all monsters are evil or act on malicious intent. Likewise, even
though a character isn t demonic doesn t mean he isn t still a monster. Bilbo never behaves in an
inappropriate manner, and is in fact the protagonist of The Hobbit. Jeffrey Jerome Cohen provides two
theses from his article Monster Culture that satisfies Bilbo s character. Thesis #2: The Monster Always
Escapes is perhaps the most obvious

Resolving Small Business Disputes in New York
New York is home to thousands of business. Some are international corporations, others are local. In
New York, there are businesses in every industry, and, and some point, these businesses will face
disputes. For small businesses in New York particular, a business dispute can mean the end of the life
of the company, due to its tremendous expense and its potential to damage a business reputation in the
community. Fortunately, business disputes in small businesses do not always result in an expensive
lawsuit, and many are resolved without court assistance at all.
Every business, even the smallest ones, needs a plan in place for handling disputes. It is best for the
business owners and managers to create such a plan when there are no active conflicts within the
company. Each business should have a method for resolving customer complaints, disagreements
between employees, conflict with other companies, and so on. A business attorney is an excellent
resource for putting these plans into place. When conflict does arise, each party to the dispute will
understand how it will be resolved, providing a more efficient method of finalizing a disagreement.
It is essential to handle business disputes as soon as possible before they cause unnecessary animosity
and stress within the business. Businesses may

Personal Statement For Attending School
Personal Statement
This is the statement where I try to persuade you into thinking I m a good student to attend your
school (insert school name when submitting applications). Well I guess I should start with my favorite
subject so you can get the idea of what I would want to study. I love math, it;s simple and easy for me.
It s so thrilling when you narrow down the right answer. Another subject that I enjoy is my band class.
It feels awesome when I hear the instruments fuse together and make an extremely cool sound.
Hearing all of my comrades coming together and playing a musical piece is just awesome. I love the
parts of the day when I either grab my clarinet, or I grab my calculator. When those parts of the day
come, I feel alive. The rest of the classes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Science classes like biology or chemistry is like a movie, I see something awesome each day such as
seeing how monarch butterflies pump their wings with excess body fat. I have a positive mood each
day (except in the mornings). The main reason I go to school, though, is because of my friends ( I
should probably change that). My friends are, in my opinion, are what define me. Theirs the smart
guy, the immature guy, the serious guy, the goofy girl, and the responsible guy. I m not the type of
person that has a lot of friends, I only come to school for like 4 different people (and my education of
course). These four people help and inspire me to do better everyday. A quote that I like to use when
somebody says what I would do without my friends is, I cannot even imagine where I would be today
were it not for that handful of friends who have given me a heart full of joy. Let s face it, friends make

Temperature And Humidity Effects On Composite Material...
TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY EFFECTS ON COMPOSITE MATERIAL PROPERTIES
ANSHUL and RAHUL
ABSTRACT
This paper discusses the different properties of composite materials under static testing condition to
determine the effect of aging due to change in temperature and moisture content. Effects on tensile,
shear, impact, stiffness and fatigue parameters are studied. For each property, application specific
composite materials are taken into consideration with different stacking sequence and number of plies.
Different samples of these are then introduced to different hygrothermal environments for example:
temperatures ranging from 50 degree Celsius to +50 degree Celsius or kept in wet conditions for 24
hours at different temperatures of 21, 37 and 50 degree Celsius etc. Different tests are performed
based on the material property to observe a change from the initial unaged specimen. To study every
property a different test method is discussed. A final comparison for each property between the unaged
and aged specimen is shown in order to see the property s dependence on temperature and moisture.
This comparison highlights the temperature and moisture dependent properties and showcase a trend.
Properties like tensile modulus, shear modulus, shear strength, flexural stiffness and fatigue life show
a decrease with increase in temperature and moisture content while Poisson s ratio and impact strength
increase with increase in temperature and moisture content.

Teton Dam Response Paper
Response Paper 4 The thirst for water has lead individuals and organizations to build dams across
rivers at an alarming rate. During the early 1900s dams were being built so fast it was no longer big
news when a dam was completed. These structures provided controlled irrigation water and
hydroelectric power to the communities not only close to the reservoirs and dams, but also provided
irrigation water and hydroelectric power to communities many miles away from the river. Negatively
blocking the flow of the river has impacted fish ecosystems, increased evaporation of water, and
flooded intricately important landscapes. These negative impacts, it can be argued, affect the humans
living downstream or within the flood plain of the dam site. Dams ... Show more content on

The dam had been hastily built on a site that should not have a dam or a large body of water.
Engineers and government officials were slow to learn that dams site need to be thoroughly assessed
to be safe. Closer to home, the Teton Dam is an example of how the perceived need to have water can
create dangerous and often deadly consequences. The Teton Dam was built in southern Idaho s Snake
River basin on the Teton River. Extensive studies were conducted at the site to test for things like
water availability and soil structure. The main aim was to provide water that could be used in times of
drought as a buffer. The area was irrigated well using wells; however, extra water is always welcome
in the southern Idaho desert. Many of the short comes of the site were over looked. Engineers stated
that the dam could be built well enough to overcome the issues in the land. On June 5 the engineers
were proved wrong. Throughout the day leaks that had developed the day before grew larger. By
midmorning the dam gave way spilling its contents into the flat open Snake River Plain. The flood
waters wiped out the small town of Wilford, crashed through Rexburg, and flowed through Idaho
Falls. In the end 11 people died and countless homes were floating

Ways to Improve the Malaysian Electoral System
There are numerous ways to improve the Malaysian electoral system both in fairness and efficiency.
Currently, there is a lack in confidence in the validity or neutrality of the Electoral Commissions (EC).
Members of the EC are elected by the Yang di Pertuan Agong (YDPA) after discussing with the
Conference of Rulers (Legal Research Board, 2013). However, according to Article 40 the YDPA can
only act after receiving advice from the Cabinet or a Minister representing the Cabinet (Legal
Research Board, 2013); in most cases it would mean the Prime Minister. Hence, it may seem that the
politically neutral EC were to be pro government. A solution to this problem would be to amend the
Constitution so that the House of Representatives can debate on the nomination of the EC members,
then their decision would be passed on to the YDPA. By doing so, the EC would comprise of members
that have the approval of both the government and opposition, thus making the committee fairer. Aside
from that, the EC should manage its own budget, and should be reviewed by the Auditor General and
not be dissected by the Parliament.
Besides that, there were complaints about the use of indelible ink in the 13th general Election.
Oppositions and clean polls activists reported that the ink could be easily washed off (Election ink
under scrutiny in Malaysia, 2013). To avoid the issue of phantom voters and to reduce human error
when checking the voter s information during the election a new modern polling

How Ww1 Changed British Literature
World War One began on July 28, 1914 and ended with the signing of the armistice on November 11,
1918. The war cost a total of one hundred eighty six billion dollars. The total casualties of the war
were thirty seven million, with another eleven million civilian casualties. The British Empire alone
lost over three million people in the war. (English) World War One effected the whole world the
heartache and bloodshed changed politics, economics, and public opinion. This war changed people s
lives, but it also changes their way of thinking and their way of writing. After World War One British
literature was changed from simple stories to a more realistic and meaningful approach to life.

The three notable poets of the Victorian age became similarly absorbed in social issues. Beginning as
a poet of pure romantic escapism, Alfred, Lord Tennyson, soon moved on to problems of religious
faith, social change, and political power. All the characteristic moods of his poetry, from brooding
splendor to lyrical sweetness, are expressed with smooth technical mastery. His style, as well as his
peculiarly English conservatism, stands in some contrast to the intellectuality and bracing harshness of
the poetry of Robert Browning. Matthew Arnold, the third of these mid Victorian poets, stands apart
from them as a more subtle and balanced thinker his literary criticism is the most remarkable written
in Victorian times. His poetry displays a sorrowful, disillusioned pessimism over the human plight in
rapidly changing times, a pessimism countered, however, by a strong sense of duty. (English) World
War One was an event that changed literature throughout England and the world. People felt lost,
broken and disheveled after the war. This is obvious when you see the change in literature after the
war. Literature after the war, or post war literature, is different from the literature during the Victorian
age. The optimism of previous decades was abandoned and a bleak, pessimistic outlook on life

Vygotsky And Piaget Similarities
Vygotsky and Piaget have similarities between their two theories of cognitive development. The first
similarity that I know about their theories is children learn increasingly complex information and
skills as they get older. The second similarity is Emphasis on both nature and nurture Both recognise
the role of heredity and maturation of the brain and body=nature. Piaget recognises how children meet
the demands of their environment. The final similarity is Children s cognitive abilities develop in a
sequence and particular abilities develop at certain stages. Vygotsky and Piaget have many
differences. Vygotsky believed that the child is a social being, and cognitive development is led by
social interactions. Piaget, on the other hand,

Disadvantages Of Disaster Risk
Disaster risk indicates the possibility of adverse effects in the future. It originates from the
collaboration of social and environmental processes, from the mixture of natural hazards and the
vulnerabilities of exposed elements.
Due to increases in the exposure of persons and assets, the brutality of the impacts of disasters
depends strongly on the level of exposure and vulnerability in the affected area, and proof indicates
that risk has increased worldwide largely. For example, long term increases in economic losses from
weather and climate related disasters is caused by increasing exposure (IPCC 2012). There have been
limited decreases in vulnerability as a result of, for instance, better building standards and compliance,
but these reducing effects are geographically rough and there are many examples of increased
vulnerability, mostly in large urban centres and in developing countries. This has created new risk and
potential disaster losses mainly at the local and community level with the poor and demoted, marginal
populations, women and children, and those dependent on single sector economies suspiciously
affected.
Exposure:
Exposure refers to the portfolio of essentials in an area in which hazard events may occur. Later, if
population and economic resources were not located in potentially dangerous settings, there would be
no problem of disaster risk. Exposure is a required, but not enough, factor of risk. It is possible to be
exposed but not vulnerable (for

Victorian ideal by being independent and active women. The fact both never married is a very
significant defiance of that ideal, though Kingsley supposed had a romantic involvement with

very imperialist mindsets, though to varying degrees. Slessor believed that Africans benefited from

Literature Color Symbolism
The Color of Literature
Color symbolism can be used to set the tone of a story and aspects within that story. Colors can invoke
an emotional response as well as paint a picture of a character or scene within the story. In exploring
the story of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight (Damrosch, Pike 1200 59) along with Christopher
Columbus letter The Green and Beautiful Land (Columbus 1 7) there are three main colors that stand
out. The first color, as shown in both titles, is green. Green plays a significant role in both tales as it is
the main color of the antagonist in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and the supple landscape that is
described by Columbus. Green also represents negative aspects in the stories such as misfortune and

Columbus also describes the islands to have marvelous pine groves, and extensive meadow country
(2) which again symbolizes the nature and fertility of the islands. At the end of Columbus letter, he
tells the king and queen that he can send gum mastic, aloe wood, and rhubarb, all of which are green
and represent the fertility of the new lands (5).
Columbus describes the native islanders as wondrous[ly] timid and delighted to receive items of little
or no value from the crewmen (2). It is in this description that the reader imagines the inexperience of
the islanders, a negative often associated with the color green.
The next representation of color is of gold, or yellow. Yellow represents idealism, vitality, and gold, or
wealth as well as cowardice, greed, and deceit ((Rohrer; Smith). The Green Knight s attire was
adorned with color, bright gold on silk broideries banded most richly (1207). The saddle blanket of
both the Green Knight s horse and Sir Gawain s horse was embellished with gold trim. These
detailings of gold represent vitality and wealth. The wealth of Bertilak s castle is also seen in the
description of the lavish surroundings, from the curtains with clear golden hems to the tapestries hung
on ropes with red gold rings (1223). The account of lavish surroundings may also give the impression
of greed as well as wealth.
The color yellow symbolizes idealism and

Terrorist is a novel by John Updike written in 2006. Ahmad Ashmawy Mulloy, the main character in
the story, was instructed in the Muslim faith ever since he was a child of eleven by the Iman Shaikh
Rashid, originally from Yemen. The words and teachings of the Qur an and his devotion to Allah
become the centre of Ahmad s young life which incidentally, lacks all parental guidance. After he
graduates from secondary school he gets a job as a truck driver for Excellency Furnishing Stores
where he meets Charlie Chehab and his father, from Lebanon and devoted Muslims too. From then on,
the young man is manipulated by his elders to perpetrate a terrorist attack against the Lincoln tunnel,

themselves but also at countries that belong to the so called Western world.
Although Chomsky admits that terrorism is ...a scourge, a kind of cancer scattered by barbarians, by
degenerate enemies of civilization itself. (Chomsky 21) he also asserts that it is his own country the
one that promotes terrorism and is leader in terrorist actions in the world. (cf. Chomsky 27)
Besides, Americans see temselves in such a way that they find it hard to believe they can be anything
different from magnificent and altruistic world citizens who pursue everybody else s happiness and
freedom. In Culture and Imperialism (1993), Edward Said, the Palestinian American academic and
writer, states: America describes itself with words such as: altruism, specialness and opportunity to the
extent that the word Imperialism has been used only rarely and recently in accounts of U.S. culture,
politics and history. (8)
He also maintains that in his country, there seems to be ...an uncritical alignment between intellectuals
and institutions of power which reproduces the pattern of an earlier imperialist history. This

Anglo Saxon Warrior Culture
Imagine if one thousand years from now, the American civilization was researched based only on
evidence that survived time, such as a singular book or ruin of a skyscraper. These artifacts would
serve as the basis of knowledge for all characteristics of the society of the United States. The
information now regarded as common knowledge for many ancient civilizations derives from their
surviving artifacts that give examples of culture. One such civilization was the Anglo Saxons, who
wrote poems and left behind parts of their material culture that provide insight into their lives. Based
on the epic Beowulf and the archaeological evidence, the principles that the Anglo Saxons valued
were loyalty, warrior culture, and wealth. One of the most important ... Show more content on

sword hilts and pommels (Real Life Buried Treasure) and others adorned their fallen warriors with
beautiful riches (A Window on Anglo Saxon Life). Since many warriors had these golden

Spartan Military Leadership
Spartan Military The Spartan army was one of the most powerful armies in the ancient world.
When Spartan boys were babies they were looked over by The Council Of Elders to see if they were
strong enough to be Warriors. At the age of 7, the boys had to leave home to start there military
training. The boys were forced to fight each other (which could cause violence). They also became
skilled at stealing food, and at other survival skills.
The teenage boys who demonstrated the most leadership, were asked to join in the Crypteia, which
was like a secret police force whose goal was to terrorize the general Helot (which is a member of
serfs in ancient Sparta) and also to murder people that were troublemakers.

The Concept Of Hinduism And Buddhism
INTRODUCTION TO THE CONCEPT OF HINDUISM AND BUDDHISM
Hinduism is often called one of the oldest living religions or oldest living major traditions amongst
other religions still being practiced currently, this is due to the fact that certain elements within
Hinduism stretches back for thousands of years.
Hinduism is often referred to as Sanatana Dharma , a Sanskrit phrase meaning the eternal law . Also, it
does not have a single definition mostly because it holds a vast array of beliefs and also because it can
be linked to Buddhism, Jainism etc.
Some schools of thoughts do not describe Hinduism as a religion but rather as a way of worship that
informs you about the duties, life style and vision of living established in the Indian subcontinent.
Hinduism is formed from diverse traditions, as such Hinduism does not have a single founder.
Buddhism is a tradition that focuses on personal spiritual development and knowing or attainment of a
deeper insight to the true nature of life. Buddhists do not believe in a personal God, instead in
Buddhism it is believed that nothing is fixed or permanent and that change is inevitable and always
possible.
Buddhists believe that life is endless and subject to suffering and uncertainty. This comes from the
Buddhist school of thought that teaches that existence is endless because individuals are reincarnated
time and time again thus continually experiencing suffering and pain throughout many life times.
There are different schools of

The Ethics Of Animal Research Essay
PHILOSOPHY 106 Is the use of Animals in Biomedical Research Morally Justified?
Animals have been treated immorally since the beginning of time, this is shown by hunting, farming,
trapping, testing of products and biomedical research etc. As humans, majority of us claim animals as
our resources as we use them for eating, making clothing, (leather and fur jackets, shoes) working
animals, as a means of transport, animal testing etc. In this essay I will discuss the use of animals in
biomedical research and state why some believe it is morally justified. I will then present an objection
to argue why biomedical research is morally unjustified and why I believe this. I will write this essay
using resources from Tom Regan s, The case for animal rights , David DeGrazia s, The ethics of
animal research: what are the prospects for agreement? , Baruch A. Brody s, Defending animal
research: An international perspective and Peter Singer s, Animal Liberation at 30 . I will then come to
my own conclusion based on the different perspectives from the above philosophers and by using my
own knowledge on the issue.
In this first half of the essay I will discuss the different viewpoints from the philosophers Regan,
DeGrazia and Singer on their perspectives on why biomedical research is morally unjustified. In Tom
Regan s The Case for Animal Rights he argues that animals have a quality that can t be decreased to
their utility and puts forth a defense to eliminate harm brought about

Organ Transplant Pros And Disadvantages
Organ transplants have saved the lives of many patients, and have brought nothing but happiness to
donors and their families. However, there is a constant conflict between the Human Immune system
and foreign cells. The Reason this is such a big issue is due to the fact that newly transplanted organs
can be detected, and then attacked by immune cells. This in turn, renders the organ and operation
useless; putting the patient in further danger and can even worsen their condition than before.
Transplantation is when an organ, tissue or cell is removed from one site to another, often this is
between one body (a donor) and the body of a recipient. The number one problem with organ and
tissue transplants and that is the fact that there is a chance of transplant rejection. This chance depends
partly on the degree of genetic variation between the displaced organ and the host. A graft is another
term used to describe a piece of living tissue that is transplanted.
An Autograft is moved from on area of the body to another area of that same body and receives no
rejection. A Xenograft, occurs between two different species and would have the highest chance of
rejection. Allografts, the most common type of graft are between members of the same species and as
a result have a lower chance of rejection.
Surprisingly enough the type of transplant also affects the chances of rejection as well. For example
some sites like the eye and the brain are immunologically privileged. This means is that they have
minimal to no immune system cells and for that reason can tolerate even mismatched grafts. On the
other extreme though, the heart, kidneys and liver are highly vascular organs and lead to a vigorous
cell mediated response from the host. Since our immune systems act like a defense system, when
foreign things are introduced to our bodies this defense system always takes precautions to ensure it s
not a threat.
Rejections are caused by antigens called histocompatibility antigens, the most vigorous allograft
rejection reactions are cause by ones located on the major histocompatibility complex (MHC). In
Humans, the MHC is called the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) system and it s located on the short
arm of chromosome 6. The MHC

Baby Igneous Rocks Research Paper
Volcano eruptions bring newborn rocks to the world. Every year, rock families would wait around
volcanos for the erupted magma or surface lava to cool down. Each family would adopt the baby
igneous rocks of their type, who share the same genes, or minerals, as them. These igneous rocks
could have a variety of appearance and crystal sizes. Some rocks composed of surface lava have
smaller, less complex crystalline structures. They were cooled much faster when they were in contact
with air or water, and larger, more complex crystalline structure would not be formed before they
harden. On the adoption day, all kinds of rocks could be spotted; with different lustre, colour,
crystalline structure, and mineral composition. As baby igneous rocks

Similarities And Differences Between Ancient Egypt And...
Midterm Essay Maureen Cairns
In comparing and contrasting the societies of Periclean Athens and ancient Egypt, we must first
mention some of the characteristics of an actual society: a society has social levels and classes, a
governmental system, and a developed culture. Both the societies of ancient Athens and Egypt fit into
these parameters. In this essay we will explore social classes, gender relations, social inequality, and
hierarchy as they apply to these societies. Both ancient Athens and Egypt adhered to a strict
hierarchical framework, ranking people as superiors or inferiors. Old Kingdom Egyptian hierarchy is
described as having the king and queen at the top, with priests, administrators, governors and army
commanders coming second, then the commoners who worked mostly in agriculture, and finally,
slaves, who had been captured in war. (Hunt, pg. 22). According to Esolen, (pg. 35), Egyptian society
was structured as such: the Pharaoh came first, and was believed to be God on earth. Next came the
Vizier , who was the pharaohs chief advisor. Nobles were next in the hierarchy, responsible for making
local laws. Priests followed, and were responsible for performing rituals and ceremonies. Scribes were
a very important group, as they were the only ones who could read or write, so they were the record
keepers. A small percentage of boys from good families were trained for this particular job, starting at
the age of five. Soldiers came next, and were responsible for the defense of the country. Craftsmen
were skilled workers (weavers, tailors, jewelry makers), farmers worked the land, and at the very
bottom were slaves, who were usually prisoners captured in war.
In Periclean Athens, all adult male citizens had political and judicial power, even the poor. The upper
class didn t agree with this, as they believed the poor lacked the education to make political decisions.
Under Pericles, citizens could only be those whose mother and father were Athenian by birth, and
because of this, a great many had their citizenship revoked. (Hunt, pg. 85). As mentioned in Hunt (pg.
90), women, slaves, and metics (foreigners granted permanent residency in exchange for military
service) made up a majority of

Examples Of Worthy And Unworthy Worship
a. The Worthy and Unworthy Worship
Worship is about God and for the glorification of His name; it is a celebration of love that gives life
and empowering to His people, who worship Him in righteousness through obedience. Specifically,
worship involves abandoning oneself to God as an offering that is being represented by his sacrifice to
atone for his sin. Significantly, people come to His presence to verbalize their deep affection for Him
through such an ardent worship. The Bible delineates that God shows unreserved favor to those who
faithfully love Him with all their heart, soul, and strength (Deuteronomy 6:5); but on the other hand,
God hates and curses those who do not love Him and worship Him selfishly.

They would normally hear His voice to give them divine guidance, warning and instructions on how
they should live, worship and maintain their relationship with Him. (Genesis 4:7). Adam and Eve
loved and feared God; thus, Cain and Abel learned and developed their faith through their teachings
and instructions. (Romans 10:17) Furthermore, they were trained properly to worship God through an
offering.
An excellent example of worthy and unworthy worship in the Old Testament is that of Cain and Abel
since it is the first arresting message of God in Genesis after the fall man and persuasively an essential
message of redemption. Both Cain and Abel worshiped God but approach it differently. Remarkably,
Abel loved and feared God most of all in his life that he carefully obeyed all His instructions and
requirements for worship, while Cain selfishly worshiped God according to His will and
presumptions. Abel, in awe of his creator, offered God the best firstlings of his flocks and their fat

The Technology Of Human Skeletal Structures
CHAPTER 1
Introduction
The MS Kinect has evolved for gaming purposes initially but sooner it came out with many more
possibilities higher than just gaming so Microsoft decided to launch a separate device (similar to
Kinect for XBOX 360) called as Kinect for Windows , along with a SDK for the developers. One such
possibility is human authentication system based on the anatomy of human skeletal structure which is
more advance and reliable security system. The lead developer who framed the Kinect skeletal
tracking concept as well algorithm, Jamie Shotton realized that there are far more many advance and
useful applications of Kinect beside gaming purpose. One such application is the person identification
and authentication that describes this project work. This technology could be used for instance in
home surveillance system than will more focused on filtrating out an intruder and won t confuse with
family members or pets motion.

The Vocal Folds Of The Larynx
Introduction:
The larynx is the part of the respiratory system that contains the vocal folds, and is responsible for the
creation of sound. The larynx sits on top of the trachea or windpipe, which allows for air to pass to
and from the lungs when the body inhales and exhales. Positioned at the upper opening of the larynx
are two mucous membranes that make up the vocal folds or glottis. The vocal folds consist of twin
flaps of cartilage, on average two to four centimeters long, in the shape of a V that vibrate together
when air passes through the trachea. They work together with the resonating chambers in the head,
like the nose and mouth, to create sound. This process is known as phonation, ...The phonation

Honey is a common household food item with many medicinal properties, and is a hypertonic
osmotic. The goal of osmosis is to bring substances with a high concentration of particles to a lower
concentration and equalize both solvents on either side. A hypertonic osmotic is a substance that is
able to draw decrease the concentration of fluid in cells through osmosis due to the higher
concentration of pressure outside the cells, than inside the cells. The significant amount of sugar
present in honey is what raises pressure to draw any leakage out of enlarged cells. The antibacterial
property of honey was first recognized in 1892 by Van Ketel. It has often been assumed that this is due
entirely to the osmotic effect of its high sugar content. Honey, like other saturated sugar syrups and
sugar pastes, has an osmolarity sufficient to inhibit microbial growth (Molan. 2001) . The osmotic
nature of honey draws excess fluid out of inflamed or infected cells. The Goal of this experiment is to
identify the impact of honey and water on vocal range. Through measuring the difference between the
total number of musical notes sung by participants before exposure to the dependent variable (honey
water mixture); and after, the effectiveness of honey water will be demonstrated. The measurable

Understanding Elements Of Design Report By Monica Prakash...
Demonstrating understanding elements of design report by Monica Prakash 91053 My previous
experience I have been investigating print media selections when advertising tourist attractions in the
city of Auckland. I have created a design of a double sided, bi fold, 3 panel brochure. I have learnt the
elements and principles of design that are vital to this type of outcome. I have also learnt how to apply
the elements of design which can be applied to any digital outcome. Important Elements/Principles of
Design There are a variety of elements to be considered while developing a print media outcome.
Colour is an important design element when used in print media because it creates visual interest
towards the viewer. It determines whether the brochure is noticeable enough. This comes into
consideration which is used to determine the quality of a design within print media. Colour can
generate emotions as well as depict feeling. Alignment is also an important design element formerly
used in print media because it creates a distinct, more orderly design. When aligning elements this
allows them to create a visual connection with either font text, images, or shapes. It tightens up the
design and eradicates the haphazard. This element prevents items of being randomly placed in a
design. Alignment is one of the most basic and important principles of design. It acknowledges us to
create order and organisation in a design. Proximity is another important design

The Problem Of Drug Abuse
Abstract
When it comes to teenage drug abuse, marijuana, cocaine, LSD and other illegal drugs might come to
mind. In fact four out of five people, when asked what they believed was the most abused drug among
teens, answered: alcohol, heroin, cocaine, meth and caffeine. While all these drugs are of concern, the
use of them in teens is declining. Adolescence are becoming more aware of the side effects and
consequences of using these drugs. Narcotic pharmaceuticals are a rising issue in teens today. Yet
most people seem to be unaware of pain killers as a problem. It could be due to most pain killers only
being able to be obtained by doctor. Doctors have to hand out prescriptions in order for a person,
whom ever it may be, to obtain the medications. Here is where the issue arises. Any person can inside
a hospital screaming in agony and receive pain medication. But what if those people don t need the

these inputs, affects a company s profitability.
Important Suppliers: Many small local players providing not so sophisticated refrigeration systems .
The major foreign players providing better technological systems to Indian companies are Hurree
Group of Finland, AG Refrigeration Systems, Blue Star, and GE Equipment Manf. Etc. They provide
the necessary equipment for all three stages. So for better technology
Substitutes for Products: There are various options available at each stage. You have broad range of
technologies to choose from. Take for example the pre cooling stage; you have five methods vacuum
cooling, forced air cooling, hydro cooling, icing and room cooling. Each method involves a different
set of suppliers and the company can choose amongst each method depending on its capital budget.
Similar trends exist in the other two stages and therefore, the company enjoys a higher bargaining
power.
Switching Cost: All the equipments are expensive and highly capital intensive. The three stages are
interlinked and to switch from one technology to another would involve huge investment. So the
supplier once established has the power to dictate terms to the company. But since switching of a
supplier for a given technology is not difficult.

Nazi Concentration Camp And Gulag Research Paper
Nazi concentration camps and Gulags brought together various connections of fellow prisoners, there
were men and women, Jews, Germans, Russians, and several other diverse groups of people
contained. I will be focusing on female prisoners in both Nazi concentration camps and in the Gulags,
identifying particular aspects of living situations in both camps and prisons, and also analyzing
women s perspectives of the circumstances they were forced upon. Women suffered from continuous
dehumanizing conditions, which included vicious rape, discriminatory murder, and endless
embarrassment. I will be exposing women s physical and biological concerns during their time in the
Nazi concentration camps. We can look at men and women sharing their tragedies ... Show more

There was nothing about the camps overall structure that would prevent interaction between men and
women. This meant that sex was inevitable in the Gulags, sex was a source of pleasure and resistance,
however, it was also exchange for protection, rations, and better food. Women used their sexuality to
better their living situations in the Gulags; they were able to have a sense of sexual autonomy. They
could choose to use relationships with men to negotiate power dynamics and limit the harshness and
isolation of daily life. With intimacy taking place in the Gulags there was often a chance of conceiving
a child, pregnant women in the prison were not often forced to have abortions but they were forced to
raise their child in a difficult environment. In Hava Volovich s memoir she describes the horrible
conditions her baby girl was delivered in, She was born in a remote camp barracks, not in the medical

Analysis Of The Showdown At House Of Blue Leaves Scene In...
Since the 1990 s Quentin Tarantino has been viewed as one of the most iconic directors of modern
cinema. His most praised scenes are always his combat scenes, or the finals scenes of each film. While
there are plenty of good combat scenes in each Quentin Tarantino film, the Showdown at House of
Blue Leaves scene from Kill Bill Vol. 1 (2003) is by far the most beautiful and impactful. Kill Bill
Vol. 1 follows an female ex assassin The Bride on a brutal
Atkinson 2 revenge filled journey. Within the scene Showdown at House of Blue Leaves, through the
use of mise en scène, sound, and cinematography, Quentin Tarantino beautifully reflects the emotions
and capability of The Bride and her enemy O ren Ishii.
Firstly, through the use of mise en scène, at the beginning of the scene, Quentin Tarantino displays and
manages to symbolize the complete contrasts of how the two characters are feeling. The setting of a
film is the most fundamental featur[e] of mise en scène. (Corrigan and White, 69) The Bride has just
finished maiming and killing 88 fully trained assassins, and now walks out onto the rooftop garden of
O ren Ishii s House Of Blue Leaves. The contrast of the inside of the house compared to the outside of
the house, makes it appear as if The Bride is literally walking into a movie screen, hinting towards the
next scene holding a different tone from the previous one feeling like it is from a different movie. This
indeed happens, as the battle between The Bride and O ren

Is The Combined Prolonged Exposure ( Pe ) And Cognitive...
The research question that I am interested in answering is whether a combined prolonged exposure
(PE) and cognitive processing therapy (CPT) approach is useful in treating veterans with post
traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The ideal study would include four groups: one to receive PE, one
to receive CPT, one to receive both PE and CPT, and one that does not receive an intervention. The
groups would consist of an equal 50/50 male to female ratio (half of the participants would be male,
half would be female) to control for gender. The participants would be contacted based on information
gathered about veterans with PTSD by the local U.S. Department of Veteran s Affairs offices in
Orange County, California.
In this scenario, the independent variable is the type of treatment and the values are the treatment
groups. The dependent variables are the patient s measurable PTSD symptoms, including frequency of
dissociative reactions, recurrent distressing dreams, negative alterations in cognitions and mood, and
marked alterations in arousal and reactivity (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). The
demographic variables in this study are age and ethnicity. The control variables are gender, geographic
location, and PTSD.
Measurement of Variables Identified Variable. The Posttraumatic Cognitions Inventory (PTCI) is a
scale used to measure a person s trauma related to their thoughts and beliefs to determine if they have
PTSD (Foa, Ehlers, Clark, Tolin, Orsillo, 1999). For the

The IMposter Syndrome
In Chapter 7, Pinker says that women tend to think they are imposters at all achievement levels
whereas men tend to bluff. She provides examples of many women who have high achievements and
occupations that still feel like it is all due to luck rather than their hard work and talent. The belief that
their successes are due to external factors such as good luck and that their failures are due to internal
factors such as personal flaws is what Pinker defines as the imposter syndrome. Imposters tend to
ignore all of the positive events and achievements that occur this shows that no amount of success will
ever show them that they are worthy. Research showed that women have a tendency to need to know
that they are 100% correct before they answer a question whereas men tend to only need to be about
50% sure and will bluff the rest. Women tend to fear criticism and will respond as if they are sad and
ashamed. Men tend to take criticism through anger and usually externalize negative events. Pinker
gives the example of a male and female who take a test and do not do well, the male will blame it on
external factors like the test being hard while the female will blame it on internal factors like they did
not study correctly. Women who have a doubt about a cognitive test and perform bad will back out of
a race in the future and may not apply for a job due to self doubt. Self doubt tends to have some
positive effects in which cause imposters to form strategies to over prepare and perform

The Count Of Monte Cristo Essay
The Count of Monte Cristo By: Alexandre Dumas
Type of Literary Work: Historical Novel
This book is an example of a historical Novel. It is historically accurate, and consists of characters that
could have existed in the nineteenth century.
Theme:Judgment Day comes to us all inevitably. We all pay for all evil and injustices of our life, yet
sometimes there will be someone so viciously wronged, that he will return like a wrath of nature, with
and unquenchable thirst for vengeance. Such a vendetta is the building block for the theme of this
novel. The Count of Monte Cristo is that wrath of vengeance that crushes those who plotted his
demise.

His good fortune, however, brings about jealousy. Danglars is green with envy over Dantes promotion.
Fernand Mondego is jealous of the love Mercedes and Dantes have for each other. Caderousse is
simply a avaricious, ill natured man. Finally, we have the public prosecutor, Villefort. He ;learns that
Dantes is carrying a letter to Villefort s father who is a Bonapartist. In fear that this letter might hurt
his position, he throws Dantes into the weary depths of the Chateau d If. Justification for this action
comes by the means of Fernand, Danglars, and Caderousse. They lie, claiming Dantes was a
Bonapartist. For years Dantes is brought to lonely depth of despair in prison. He hardly keeps his
sanity, and becomes suicidal. His sinking heart is resurrected with the sound of a fellow prisoner
burrowing. He too digs, and meets the wise old Abbe Faria. Through the wise Abbe, Dantes learns a
wide variety of subjects and becomes a thoroughly learned individual.
The two plan an escape, but shortly before the completion of their plan, the old Abbe dies, but not
before revealing the whereabouts of a hidden fortune. amp;#9;
The death of the Abbe became Dantes ticket to freedom. He hide in the burial sack meant for the
Abbe, and is thrown into the shadowy depths of the ocean. After nearly drowning, Dantes breaks free,
and is rescued by a ship of smugglers.

Controlled Substance Act
The Controlled Substances Act and the Evolutionary War on Drugs
Drugs have been used for hundreds of years for medical, religious, and psychotherapy purposes. As
psychoactive drugs became more popularly used for recreational use and were being introduced in
new ways, there became a strong need for control and regulation. The Controlled Substance Act was
implemented to take a stronghold on the growing drug problem in the United States. The advancement
of science and technology continuously present a need for new ideas and legislations; to keep a strong
hold on the war on drugs. Whether the United States can keep up with the changing epidemics and
tackle them head on, proves to be a main concern.
Only a few decades ago, research began to show ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would have had a greater impact on the entire issue as it would have closed the revolving door
and lowered prison capacities. Today, the focus is on law enforcement and harsh punishments for drug
crimes; which in turn fills our prisons and depletes our funding and police force. Although the CSA
took a different direction then what Nixon intended, it still provides a direct course of action towards
drug control. Essentially, the legislation was put in place because illegal importation, manufacture,
distribution, and possession and improper use of controlled substances have a substantial and
detrimental effect on the health and general welfare of the American people (Wilson, 2004). The most
significant aspect of the Controlled Substances Act is the scheduling/classification of drugs. Not only
was control of these substances desired but they needed a classification system to properly implement
laws and punishments for the abuse of drugs. The effects of drugs differ in effects on the brain, mood,
behavior, dependency, and criminal participation. In other words, some drugs are more dangerous than
others and should have maximum security (Bonnie,

The National Alliance on Mental Health has four priorities, those are educating, advocating, listening, and leading. • 4. Characteristics Of Bilbo In The Hobbit Bilbo Baggins is the last being in The Hobbit to be considered a monster. J.R.R. Tolkien made sure to depict Bilbo as an innocent, loving, and merciful being. However the reader cannot deny the fact that he possesses some characteristics of a monster. Dating back to the 1300s, monsters have been defined as people whom are of abnormal form and structure. It can be argued that every species, besides the humans, are monsters, including Hobbits like Bilbo. Furthermore Bilbo is unlike a typical Hobbit thanks to his Tookish lineage; therefore he is even more abnormal. Their neighbors, in part because of their wealth, have always respected the Bagginses but also because they never bother anyone (pg 3). Bilbo eventually loses all respect of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As seen in many monster stories throughout history, such as Bisclavret and Beowulf, monsters also live in isolation. Bilbo is no different. Hobbits are inherently known to remain in the confines of their homes at all costs, as it provides a sense of comfort and security, similar to the role the woods play for Bisclavret. Tolkien describes, on page 4, how Bilbo s parents settled in their hobbit hole and remained there until their deaths, which is also where Bilbo continues to live (pg 4 5). Even after begins his journey alongside the dwarves, he longs to sit in his home by the fire. In addition to being isolated homebodies, Hobbit s are very fond of food. It is said that Hobbits are inclined to be fat in the stomach (pg 4). Their gluttonous tendencies plague Bilbo through his travels as he constantly dreams of food. The outward appearance of Bilbo and his need to live and eat separate from the world provides for a surface level analysis of Bilbo Baggins as one of the monsters of The Hobbit. It is important to remember that not all monsters are evil or act on malicious intent. Likewise, even though a character isn t demonic doesn t mean he isn t still a monster. Bilbo never behaves in an inappropriate manner, and is in fact the protagonist of The Hobbit. Jeffrey Jerome Cohen provides two theses from his article Monster Culture that satisfies Bilbo s character. Thesis #2: The Monster Always Escapes is perhaps the most obvious ... Business Disputes Of New York Keywords: business disputes in New York, commercial disputes in New York, arbitration in New York, real estate disputes in New York Resolving Small Business Disputes in New York New York is home to thousands of business. Some are international corporations, others are local. In New York, there are businesses in every industry, and, and some point, these businesses will face disputes. For small businesses in New York particular, a business dispute can mean the end of the life of the company, due to its tremendous expense and its potential to damage a business reputation in the community. Fortunately, business disputes in small businesses do not always result in an expensive lawsuit, and many are resolved without court assistance at all. Every business, even the smallest ones, needs a plan in place for handling disputes. It is best for the business owners and managers to create such a plan when there are no active conflicts within the company. Each business should have a method for resolving customer complaints, disagreements between employees, conflict with other companies, and so on. A business attorney is an excellent resource for putting these plans into place. When conflict does arise, each party to the dispute will understand how it will be resolved, providing a more efficient method of finalizing a disagreement. It is essential to handle business disputes as soon as possible before they cause unnecessary animosity and stress within the business. Businesses may ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Temperature And Humidity Effects On Composite Material... TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY EFFECTS ON COMPOSITE MATERIAL PROPERTIES ANSHUL and RAHUL ABSTRACT This paper discusses the different properties of composite materials under static testing condition to determine the effect of aging due to change in temperature and moisture content. Effects on tensile, shear, impact, stiffness and fatigue parameters are studied. For each property, application specific composite materials are taken into consideration with different stacking sequence and number of plies. Different samples of these are then introduced to different hygrothermal environments for example: temperatures ranging from 50 degree Celsius to +50 degree Celsius or kept in wet conditions for 24 hours at different temperatures of 21, 37 and 50 degree Celsius etc. Different tests are performed based on the material property to observe a change from the initial unaged specimen. To study every property a different test method is discussed. A final comparison for each property between the unaged and aged specimen is shown in order to see the property s dependence on temperature and moisture. This comparison highlights the temperature and moisture dependent properties and showcase a trend. Properties like tensile modulus, shear modulus, shear strength, flexural stiffness and fatigue life show a decrease with increase in temperature and moisture content while Poisson s ratio and impact strength increase with increase in temperature and moisture content. • 9. Teton Dam Response Paper Response Paper 4 The thirst for water has lead individuals and organizations to build dams across rivers at an alarming rate. During the early 1900s dams were being built so fast it was no longer big news when a dam was completed. These structures provided controlled irrigation water and hydroelectric power to the communities not only close to the reservoirs and dams, but also provided irrigation water and hydroelectric power to communities many miles away from the river. Negatively blocking the flow of the river has impacted fish ecosystems, increased evaporation of water, and flooded intricately important landscapes. These negative impacts, it can be argued, affect the humans living downstream or within the flood plain of the dam site. Dams ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The dam had been hastily built on a site that should not have a dam or a large body of water. Engineers and government officials were slow to learn that dams site need to be thoroughly assessed to be safe. Closer to home, the Teton Dam is an example of how the perceived need to have water can create dangerous and often deadly consequences. The Teton Dam was built in southern Idaho s Snake River basin on the Teton River. Extensive studies were conducted at the site to test for things like water availability and soil structure. The main aim was to provide water that could be used in times of drought as a buffer. The area was irrigated well using wells; however, extra water is always welcome in the southern Idaho desert. Many of the short comes of the site were over looked. Engineers stated that the dam could be built well enough to overcome the issues in the land. On June 5 the engineers were proved wrong. Throughout the day leaks that had developed the day before grew larger. By midmorning the dam gave way spilling its contents into the flat open Snake River Plain. The flood waters wiped out the small town of Wilford, crashed through Rexburg, and flowed through Idaho Falls. In the end 11 people died and countless homes were floating ... • 10. Ways to Improve the Malaysian Electoral System There are numerous ways to improve the Malaysian electoral system both in fairness and efficiency. Currently, there is a lack in confidence in the validity or neutrality of the Electoral Commissions (EC). Members of the EC are elected by the Yang di Pertuan Agong (YDPA) after discussing with the Conference of Rulers (Legal Research Board, 2013). However, according to Article 40 the YDPA can only act after receiving advice from the Cabinet or a Minister representing the Cabinet (Legal Research Board, 2013); in most cases it would mean the Prime Minister. Hence, it may seem that the politically neutral EC were to be pro government. A solution to this problem would be to amend the Constitution so that the House of Representatives can debate on the nomination of the EC members, then their decision would be passed on to the YDPA. By doing so, the EC would comprise of members that have the approval of both the government and opposition, thus making the committee fairer. Aside from that, the EC should manage its own budget, and should be reviewed by the Auditor General and not be dissected by the Parliament. Besides that, there were complaints about the use of indelible ink in the 13th general Election. Oppositions and clean polls activists reported that the ink could be easily washed off (Election ink under scrutiny in Malaysia, 2013). • 15. Disadvantages Of Disaster Risk Disaster risk indicates the possibility of adverse effects in the future. It originates from the collaboration of social and environmental processes, from the mixture of natural hazards and the vulnerabilities of exposed elements. Due to increases in the exposure of persons and assets, the brutality of the impacts of disasters depends strongly on the level of exposure and vulnerability in the affected area, and proof indicates that risk has increased worldwide largely. For example, long term increases in economic losses from weather and climate related disasters is caused by increasing exposure (IPCC 2012). There have been limited decreases in vulnerability as a result of, for instance, better building standards and compliance, but these reducing effects are geographically rough and there are many examples of increased vulnerability, mostly in large urban centres and in developing countries. This has created new risk and potential disaster losses mainly at the local and community level with the poor and demoted, marginal populations, women and children, and those dependent on single sector economies suspiciously affected. Exposure: Exposure refers to the portfolio of essentials in an area in which hazard events may occur. Later, if population and economic resources were not located in potentially dangerous settings, there would be no problem of disaster risk. Exposure is a required, but not enough, factor of risk. I will then come to my own conclusion based on the different perspectives from the above philosophers and by using my own knowledge on the issue. In this first half of the essay I will discuss the different viewpoints from the philosophers Regan, DeGrazia and Singer on their perspectives on why biomedical research is morally unjustified. In Tom Regan s The Case for Animal Rights he argues that animals have a quality that can t be decreased to their utility and puts forth a defense to eliminate harm brought about ... • 27. Organ Transplant Pros And Disadvantages Organ transplants have saved the lives of many patients, and have brought nothing but happiness to donors and their families. However, there is a constant conflict between the Human Immune system and foreign cells. The Reason this is such a big issue is due to the fact that newly transplanted organs can be detected, and then attacked by immune cells. This in turn, renders the organ and operation useless; putting the patient in further danger and can even worsen their condition than before. Transplantation is when an organ, tissue or cell is removed from one site to another, often this is between one body (a donor) and the body of a recipient. The number one problem with organ and tissue transplants and that is the fact that there is a chance of transplant rejection. This chance depends partly on the degree of genetic variation between the displaced organ and the host. A graft is another term used to describe a piece of living tissue that is transplanted. An Autograft is moved from on area of the body to another area of that same body and receives no rejection. A Xenograft, occurs between two different species and would have the highest chance of rejection. Allografts, the most common type of graft are between members of the same species and as a result have a lower chance of rejection. Surprisingly enough the type of transplant also affects the chances of rejection as well. For example some sites like the eye and the brain are immunologically privileged. This means is that they have minimal to no immune system cells and for that reason can tolerate even mismatched grafts. On the other extreme though, the heart, kidneys and liver are highly vascular organs and lead to a vigorous cell mediated response from the host. Since our immune systems act like a defense system, when foreign things are introduced to our bodies this defense system always takes precautions to ensure it s not a threat. Rejections are caused by antigens called histocompatibility antigens, the most vigorous allograft rejection reactions are cause by ones located on the major histocompatibility complex (MHC). In Humans, the MHC is called the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) system and it s located on the short arm of chromosome 6. The MHC ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Similarities And Differences Between Ancient Egypt And... Midterm Essay Maureen Cairns In comparing and contrasting the societies of Periclean Athens and ancient Egypt, we must first mention some of the characteristics of an actual society: a society has social levels and classes, a governmental system, and a developed culture. Both the societies of ancient Athens and Egypt fit into these parameters. In this essay we will explore social classes, gender relations, social inequality, and hierarchy as they apply to these societies. Both ancient Athens and Egypt adhered to a strict hierarchical framework, ranking people as superiors or inferiors. Old Kingdom Egyptian hierarchy is described as having the king and queen at the top, with priests, administrators, governors and army commanders coming second, then the commoners who worked mostly in agriculture, and finally, slaves, who had been captured in war. (Hunt, pg. 22). According to Esolen, (pg. 35), Egyptian society was structured as such: the Pharaoh came first, and was believed to be God on earth. Next came the Vizier , who was the pharaohs chief advisor. Nobles were next in the hierarchy, responsible for making local laws. Priests followed, and were responsible for performing rituals and ceremonies. Scribes were a very important group, as they were the only ones who could read or write, so they were the record keepers. A small percentage of boys from good families were trained for this particular job, starting at the age of five. Soldiers came next, and were responsible for the defense of the country. Craftsmen were skilled workers (weavers, tailors, jewelry makers), farmers worked the land, and at the very bottom were slaves, who were usually prisoners captured in war. In Periclean Athens, all adult male citizens had political and judicial power, even the poor. The upper class didn t agree with this, as they believed the poor lacked the education to make political decisions. Under Pericles, citizens could only be those whose mother and father were Athenian by birth, and because of this, a great many had their citizenship revoked. (Hunt, pg. 85). The Worthy and Unworthy Worship Worship is about God and for the glorification of His name; it is a celebration of love that gives life and empowering to His people, who worship Him in righteousness through obedience. Significantly, people come to His presence to verbalize their deep affection for Him through such an ardent worship. The Bible delineates that God shows unreserved favor to those who faithfully love Him with all their heart, soul, and strength (Deuteronomy 6:5); but on the other hand, God hates and curses those who do not love Him and worship Him selfishly. The larynx sits on top of the trachea or windpipe, which allows for air to pass to and from the lungs when the body inhales and exhales. Positioned at the upper opening of the larynx are two mucous membranes that make up the vocal folds or glottis. The vocal folds consist of twin flaps of cartilage, on average two to four centimeters long, in the shape of a V that vibrate together when air passes through the trachea. The goal of osmosis is to bring substances with a high concentration of particles to a lower concentration and equalize both solvents on either side. A hypertonic osmotic is a substance that is able to draw decrease the concentration of fluid in cells through osmosis due to the higher concentration of pressure outside the cells, than inside the cells. The significant amount of sugar present in honey is what raises pressure to draw any leakage out of enlarged cells. The antibacterial property of honey was first recognized in 1892 by Van Ketel. It has often been assumed that this is due entirely to the osmotic effect of its high sugar content. Honey, like other saturated sugar syrups and sugar pastes, has an osmolarity sufficient to inhibit microbial growth (Molan. 2001) . The osmotic nature of honey draws excess fluid out of inflamed or infected cells. The Goal of this experiment is to identify the impact of honey and water on vocal range. Through measuring the difference between the total number of musical notes sung by participants before exposure to the dependent variable (honey water mixture); and after, the effectiveness of honey water will be demonstrated. I have also learnt how to apply the elements of design which can be applied to any digital outcome. Important Elements/Principles of Design There are a variety of elements to be considered while developing a print media outcome. Colour is an important design element when used in print media because it creates visual interest towards the viewer. It determines whether the brochure is noticeable enough. This comes into consideration which is used to determine the quality of a design within print media. Colour can generate emotions as well as depict feeling. Alignment is also an important design element formerly used in print media because it creates a distinct, more orderly design. When aligning elements this allows them to create a visual connection with either font text, images, or shapes. It tightens up the design and eradicates the haphazard. This element prevents items of being randomly placed in a design. Alignment is one of the most basic and important principles of design. She provides examples of many women who have high achievements and occupations that still feel like it is all due to luck rather than their hard work and talent. The belief that their successes are due to external factors such as good luck and that their failures are due to internal factors such as personal flaws is what Pinker defines as the imposter syndrome. Imposters tend to ignore all of the positive events and achievements that occur this shows that no amount of success will ever show them that they are worthy. Research showed that women have a tendency to need to know that they are 100% correct before they answer a question whereas men tend to only need to be about 50% sure and will bluff the rest. Women tend to fear criticism and will respond as if they are sad and ashamed. Men tend to take criticism through anger and usually externalize negative events.
