Dogloo
Overview Lewis Byrd, a partner of Opportunity Capital Partners and the lead in the Dogloo
investment, is currently facing the issues below: * Dogloo is in the lawsuit regarding Doskocil s
trademark infringement, which is consuming large amount of money and management time thus
detrimental to Dogloo s healthy growth. * Dogloo s products are facing significant increasing
market demand, which exposed its outsourced manufacturers inability to increase capacity and led
into lost sales. * Aurelio Barreto, CEO of Dogloo, is not meeting expectations to work within the
financial and organizational constraints of the company, despite his strong product development
and marketing capabilities. The proposed solutions are outlined below... Show more content on

Analysis Investment Structure The total amount of the investment is worth $7 million and is
invested by the below parties: * Synenergy Diversified Capital committed capital of $6.25
million * Opportunity Capital Corporation $150,000 * Opportunity Capital Partners $600,000
The $7 million is in the form of subordinated debentures that matures in 7 years with an interest
rate of 13%. This rate is very high because subordinated debentures investors bear significantly
more risk, which is a major drawback of this form of investment since the debt might not be
repaid. The biggest benefit for Dogloo to issue subordinated debenture is that the subordination
makes the debt being accounted in the company s equity based on the balance sheet. This
effectively improves the company s leverage ratios and allows the company to obtain future loans
more easily. Analysis Return on Investment OCC and OCP together invested $750,000 into
Dogloo in the form of subordinated debenture with 13% interest rate, which guarantees them
stable interest cash inflows each year (Exhibit 4). The two investors combined ownership interest
will be 0.5% of the Dogloo s equity value because the company s equity valuation is $213 million,
exceeding $80 million; this will be the cash inflow at exit for the investors. Through calculation,
the required equity value at exit is $238 million if the investors have an estimated IRR of 25%
(Exhibit 4). Conclusion Based on the

Religious Experience Research Paper
The term religious experience can come up with a wide range and diverse series of images. We
might assume that it can include anything from a prayer, to attending a service at a place of
worship, to even hearing the voice of God . The argument for the existence of God based on
religious experience is in fact a posteriori as it is based on people s encounters with God. Unlike
other arguments, the argument is based on a direct link to God if we are able to show that God
is experienced then we therefore cannot deny his existence. Many people are more likely to
believe something if it has been experienced. Our experience of God is the best evidence we have
that God exists.
There are many definitions of religious experience which include one from Rudolph Otto who
stated the term numinous for the feeling of the presence of a greater being, which is with you but
yet somehow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This feeling is termed mysterium tremendum et fascinans , whereby there is a fear of the
fascinating. Other than this the psychologist William James does also study a lot of religious
experiences, and in his lectures entitled On the Varieties of Religious Experience he clearly
outlines four key characteristics which go on to define a religious experience. First there s a sense
of noetic quality, which means that by virtue of the experience the subject becomes aware of some
revelation. Also Religious experiences tend to be transient, so that whilst the experience may have
a profound effect upon the subject, it lasts a relatively short period of time, and often the details are
forgotten afterwards. The experiences are usually ineffable, so this makes it particularly

The Effects Of Bpa On Human Health
Bisphenol A, commonly referred to as BPA, is a synthetic carbon compound present in consumer
plastic products. These products include water bottles, food containers, canned foods coated with
protective linings, and shopping receipts. According to the CDC, 93% of Americans have traces of
BPA chemicals present in their urine samples. This has recently attracted attention in the media
because BPA is linked with a plethora of potential health hazards; such as the development of
cancer, diabetes, asthma, and disruptions in the endocrine system. Scientists currently focus on the
estrogenic activity caused by levels of BPA chemicals found in consumer plastic products, and are
concerned about the potential negative effects on human health. This concern is based studies
which have shown disruptions in the reproductive and endocrine systems of laboratory rats (Vinas
and Watson 2013). The estrogenic properties of the compound BPA were first discovered by
British medical researcher Edward Charles Dodds in the 1930s. Dodds aimed to create a drug that
could be used to treat problems relating to pregnancy symptoms, menopause, menstruation, and the
prevention of miscarriages. Although BPA was not successful in the medical industry, around the
same time, chemists in Switzerland and the United States discovered that BPA could be made into
epoxy resins. This new discovery quickly became popular in the industrial production industries for
uses such as piping, adhesives, and protective

The Stones Cry Out Themes Essay
The Stones Cry Out: Analytical Essay In Hikaru Okuizumi s book, The Stones Cry Out , we
follow a man named Manase through his life after the war. Although this seems like just a look on
a mans life, there are many themes that tie us in. Hikaru uses many literary elements to develop
those themes. Four of those elements are complication, false assumptions, flashbacks, and
foreshadowing. Although there are many key themes, the two I noticed the most were the
psychological effects of war and family complications due to the loss of a loved one.
Complications are defined as obstacles that increase tension. In the beginning of the book, the
complications would be when Manase is faced with his memories of the time he was in the cave...

This quote also gives us the forshadow that we will find out who the killer is. We don t actually
find the killer but we do get to hear the opposite side of the story, through Takaaki. As you can see,
Hikaru Okuizumi uses literary elements to develop his themes. Flashbacks, foreshadowing, false
assumptions, and complications are the elements I found most apparent in this book. They aren t
the only elements though, he does have more, like imagery and personification through the
symbols of the book. Though this book leaves us with many questions, it was a good read and I
found it very interesting. Hikaru Okuizumi is a profound author, and this novel proves

The aim of this paper is to explore and clearly explore how networks and teams can effectively be

this project, I have chosen to use Avimax businesses/projects as my case study. This paper

Business Network Setup This organization to be networked has about 600 workers distributed
evenly among six different user departments. Its headquarters is located in Los Angeles, CA, and it
has major offices in Madrid, Spain, Tokyo, Japan, and Sydney, Australia. It doesn t have an effective
line of communication between the user departments and the head office. The aim is to develop a
network system capable of securing and making sure of effective communication between the
smaller companies (owned by larger companies) in different countries and between the different
user departments with the organizations head office. In order to design and build a well secured
network, many factors must be taken into the process of carefully thinking about something. These
important factors of something to think about include such factors as the topology and placement
of hosts within the network, the selection of hardware and software technologies for the network
setup, and the careful setup of each part within the network in order to make sure that an effective
system is developed linking all user departments and smaller companies (owned by larger
companies) to the main office. The main problem that is to be thought about in the course

Whose Fault Was The Truck Accident
Whose fault was the truck accident?
In most cases it is rare to find that one driver is fully at fault in a truck accident apart from the rear
end collisions. It is usually more likely that both parties played a role and are all at fault with one
of them being the biggest contributor than the other. One of the most important factors used in the
determination of fault is mostly the legal principle of negligence. Law courts and insurance
companies will determine the fault by applying the negligence principle or the driver s failure of
exercising duty of care. The driver who was more careless will most likely be at fault than the other.
The negligence principle is sometimes partly determined by eyewitness accounts and even citations

America Must Eliminate Standardized Tests and Reduce Homework
The world of a student is a very complicated place with either two options: a relaxed childhood
filled with quality learning and experimenting, or one that is so demanding and exhausting that
students cannot handle it anymore. Presently, the deciding factor for which path students will
travel is the conditions and environment provided to students by the previous generation. For
example, Finland is one of the most successful countries in creating proper educational settings for
students to excel when it comes to world competition. The policies created by Finland s government
and its authorities are more than suitable to extract the most potential out of students without the
negative side effects. Finnish students receive the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If Finland is so highly ranked, then there must be something that they are doing both differently
and correctly. School related stress has its roots in many different places. On a national scale,
surveys and research have in fact confirmed that school related pressures were the primary source
of stress for the majority of younger and older children (qtd. in Blazer 2). Not long ago,
kindergartens were places for children to play and learn basics, like the alphabet, but now all of it
has changed to teaching kids about test taking, doing reading/writing exercises, and even homework
(Blazer 4). In an article titled, Success with Less Stress, Jerusha Conner, an Assistant Professor of
Education at Villanova University, and his partners conducted a study to find what students say
about the causes of school stress. The research revealed that standardized tests, large assignments,
and college admissions were very frequent answers. Exceeding competition has also caused stress
among students because they feel the need to build the best rГ©sumГ©, and this leads to over
scheduled days (Redding). The modernization of the Collin s theory states that, the overscheduling
hypothesis embodies a more recent belief that it is the volume of activities that provides a boost in
the application process and that students need

Queen Gertrude in Shakespeare s Hamlet a Victim not Murderer
Gertrude never seems to get in the middle of Hamlet and Claudius disputes, so many tend to
assume that she is involved in King Hamlet s murder. However, there is an abundance of in text
evidence that suggests she is very innocent and oblivious to Claudius plots throughout the play.
Most of this evidence supporting that Gertrude has nothing to do with King Hamlets sudden death.
From the start, Gertrude comes off as a very clueless and almost blind character to the things
happening around her. She mourns for the death of the man she loved, but with her country in mind
does what she thinks is best. Sadly, while doing so, she involves herself in a dispute that turns
deadly. It is very obvious throughout the play that Queen Gertrude and... Show more content on

Instead of asking ridiculous questions and going haywire, like her new husband, Gertrude
simply comments on the acting by saying, ? The lady protests too much, methinks?
(Shakespeare 3.2.168). She even becomes baffled by Claudius? strange behavior when he
screams, ?Give me some light, away!? (Shakespeare 3.2.172). Gertrude clearly did now know
the plot line of the play before having seen it, therefore she could not have been involved in the
making of it earlier in the play. When problems with Ophilia and Hamlet arise, Claudius simply
sees this as another opportunity to quiet Hamlet. He encourages the relationship, hoping if
Hamlet is seeing Polonius? daughter, he wont speak out about his suspicions of Claudius.
Although, when Gertrude gets word of these news, she sees this as a completely different
opportunity. She, unlike her new husband, encourages the relationship in hopes that it will cheer
up her son and he will return to normal. She says to Ophilia, ?And for your part, Ophelia, I do
wish that your good beauties be the happy cause of Hamlet s wildness. So shall I hope your
virtues will bring him to his wonted way again, to both your honors? (Shakespeare 3.1.136).
Gertrude only thinks of her sons well being. In which case, if she had been involved in King
Hamlets murder, she would probably be more worried about not being caught instead of how to
make Hamlet happy again. If Gertrude was Claudius? partner in crime, one would assume that he
would let her in

Christina Rossetti’s Goblin Market Essay
There are several meanings and interpretations of Christina Rossetti s, Goblin Market . Goblin
Market is the story of two sisters, which one of them, Laura, is tempted to visit the new goblin
market in town. Laura buys the fruit from the goblin men in exchange for a lock of her hair,
despite the several warnings from her sister Lizzie not to consume the fruit. Laura gets sick and
Lizzie saves her by going to the market. After the goblins taunt, tease and torment her with the
tempting fruit, the fruit s juices smudged in her face, she runs back home letting her sister kiss and
suck them from her cheeks. Tasting the juices for a second time was what saved Laura. Opening

Goblin Market portrayed how Laura is seriously tempted just to gain self pleasure. In Christina s
poem Laura even asks Lizzie if she has tasted For my sake the fruit forbidden? (Packer 376).
Unlike Lizzie, who decided to remain away and pure from all temptations. Another strong
Christian portrayal is Lizzie s words, Eat me, drink me, love me; / Laura, make much of me,
(471 472). Lizzie is represented as Christ, sacrificing herself to save her sister Laura from her
sin. There is a reference to the words of Christ at the Last Supper, This is my body which is for
you. Do this in remembrance of me. This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often
as you drink it, in remembrance of me (New International Version, 1 Cor. 11:23 25). Christ
sacrificed himself for the sins of man and Lizzie, who is good and pure, sacrificed herself for the
sins of her sister Laura. Another interpretation of Rossetti s Goblin Market is with erotic
connotations. Rossetti describes several sensual body parts such as cheeks, lips and breasts.
Also, Rossetti s word choice such as hugging, kissing and squeezing really raised the theme of
sex in her poem. I ate and ate my fill, / Yet my mouth waters still (165 166). Laura s joyful
experience with the fruit is perceived as such a high that is almost interpreted as orgasmic.
Laura exchanges a lock of her hair to the goblin men for fruit. A sexual desire from Laura is
evoked. Laura gains in her

Method of Doubt Essay
Method of Doubt
Descartes applied illusion argument, dreaming argument, and evil genius argument that is
called method of doubt to achieve his goals: Mind and body are two different substances, the
complete separation of the mental world and the physical world. Once, he claims that even
awake or asleep, two plus three is always five. Even evil genius fakes us, we probably think two
plus three is four but in fact it always exist as five and it is always true. Lets look at this example:
If I think that it s sunny outside, I can be wrong about sun but I cannot be wrong about my thinking
that it s sunny. So, no matter if I am being deceived or dreaming either way I am thinking, which is
certain knowledge. Even though our senses aren t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I don t remember being born but that does not mean that I wasn t thinking at the time. During the
night we might be woken up by a loud sound, but after we wake up we might not remember a thing.
It still remains that even though we can t remember any thought before we wake, we know that
there was because we heard the noise and woke up. We still have experiences while asleep
whether they are dreams or experience of hot or cold or a smell or a sound. We know we still
experience them because they arouse us to wakefulness and therefore are experience while in
deep sleep. Therefore, it is possible that while in deep sleep we might not remember everything
we thought but we are still thinking or else we would probably never wake up. Think about how
you wake up at any time and it is obvious that some thought is involved. And the wakefulness by
loud sound or disturbance is also called reaction but not the interaction of body and mind. Mind is
conscious and non spatial and body is spatial but not conscious. While separate, these two
substances interact. The mind, which can t be doubt or divided or extended, no shape but it is to
think in the pursuit of knowledge and the body, in return, can be doubt, divided, extended, occupied
space, is a place containing brain that generates thought. Descartes asserts that the mind and body
are separable and infinite by using his method of doubt to show that he could not doubt the
existence of his mind. As long as we think,

Arsenic Research Papers
Brianna Cross10/28/16 Chemistry Essay Arsenic Arsenic is one of the most toxic elements that
can be found on Earth. Arsenic has a symbol of As and an atomic number of 33. It is a metalloid
which gives it both metal and nonmetal characteristics. Arsenic has many allotropes, but the gray
form is important for industry. The three main allotropes are metallic gray, black, and yellow.
Gray arsenic is brittle and has a low hardness (based on the Moh s hardness scale) yet a high
density. Yellow arsenic is soft and waxy. It is least dense and most toxic. It is also transformed into
gray arsenic by light. Black arsenic is brittle and glassy. It is a poor electrical conductor as well.
Inorganic and organic compounds of arsenic are found in many places among the earth. Arsenic is
discovered in the environment from both nature and certain human activities. Arsenic is usually
found in soils, sediments, and groundwater. The process of mining, ore smelting, and industrial use
of arsenic can result in these inorganic compounds meeting the surface. Organic arsenic compounds
are found in fish, shellfish and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mineral forms of arsenic were known as early as the fourth century BC, but Albertus Magnus, a
German scholastic, is usually credited with the discovery of the element around 1250. The first
directions for the preparation of metallic arsenic are found in the writings of Paracelsus. The
Greeks of the Roman Empire would use this element to kill others. The compound s lack of
color, odor and taste made the sinister hard to detect, as well as the distribution in nature which
made it available to all classes. The symptoms of Arsenic were similar to food poisoning and other
common disorders which also made it hard to figure out if it was a planned death. These inorganic
and organic compounds can be the reason for a harmful human

The Reason That Chip Wilson Plunged Lululemon Into Crisis
Analysis The reason that Chip Wilson plunged Lululemon into crisis again is because of three
major issues: lack of media training as a spokesperson, lack of comprehensive crisis
management plan in the company, and failure of internal communication. First of all,
spokesperson media training is part of crisis preparation. In this case, lacking media training
includes training for a TV interview and training for filming a video apology. Prior to Chip
Wilson s interview with Bloomberg TV, managers from the PR department should have
conducted a comprehensive media training to Wilson. Topics cover from diagnosing company s
vulnerabilities, to preparing for difficult questions, to how to utilize chances to re enhance the
company s image, and how to risk averse after a major crisis. As Wilson s answer caused another
crisis, I assume that he was not ready to answer the questions of sheer pants recall, nor he was ever
participated in any media training at all. Erik Bernstein who runs a crisis managementblog noted
that some people should never act as spokesperson. In fact, what surprised me was that as a
company s founder and chairman of board, it was Chip Wilson s responsibility to have a general
knowledge about the crisis and what caused the crisis and what procedures they have taken to
solve the crisis. Even though he was never prepared for those questions beforehand, answers such
as women s bodies don t fit its pants should have never came up. This crisis could have been

Organizational Performance Of The Amc
Prior to the arrival of Andy Falender, there were three prominent problems plaguing the
organizational performance of the AMC. These problems consisted of: 1) the decentralization of
decision making to the local chapters, 2) the financial stability of the organization, and 3) the
growth of the organization. These problems presented themselves as troublesome for the
organization, hindering its ability to perform accordingly. Looking first at the problemof
decentralization of the decision making process, the organization was based in Boston where both
club and council meetings were held; however, as the AMC grew, there was an increase in the
formation of local chapters extending from New York, to Maine. While these chapters produced...

Despite the benefits of having organizational goals, the concept in itself includes complications.
Rianey (2014) suggests that the complications include that goals are always multiple. Due to the
number of goals an organization may have, research indicates that differing goals is quite common
amongst organizations. In the AMC s case, the separation between the national and individual
chapters have created the appearance that the organization as a whole has a number of goals,
although more likely than not these goals are more associated with an individual chapter. Rainy
(2014) argues that these differing goals often times create goal conflicts within an organization,
leading to organizational ineffectiveness. With this in mind, it is quite clear to see the ways that the
organization can be impacted by the multitude of organizational goals impacting the ability of the
organization to be impactful.
The second problem plaguing the AMC was their inability to remain financially stable. Unlike the
financial growth and stability the individual chapters were receiving, the national organization
faced significant financial problems [which resulted] in a major projected budget deficit. To
attempt to solve this problem, the AMC resorted to taking out substantial loans , but had cash flow
problems [that] were leading to frequent delays in paying bills when

A particular brain function that is affected throughout the music training would be the processes of
sound frequency. A study proved that even after 40 years of not playing a musical instrument,
sounds go through the brain much quicker than someone without musical training. This shows
that the brain is able to process sound much faster because the brain has been trained to pick out
sounds, how to create sound, and how to deeply critique sound. This study showed that when
older people who haven t picked up a musical instrument in over 40 years can be tested and be
able to make out sounds much faster than elders who never did play a musical instrument,
because the brain is able to respond to sound very quickly. Older people who took music lessons
in childhood had a faster brain response to speech, even if they had not played an instrument in
decades, researchers found. This quote is stating that older people to had musical training as a

even after 40 years, the brain is still able to process the sound frequencies very well because the

Asians And Asian American Culture
This class helped me realize how ignorant I really was about the Asian American culture as well
as the Native American culture. I generally believed that I was more culturally sound than I
actually am. I believed that I knew more about these cultures than I really did and was shocked
to realize that I fed into some of the stereotypes. I knew that Asian Americans did well
academically because their parents valued education and had them study more than their peers,
however I did not realize that culturally boys were expected to succeed more academically than
girls were. I believed that girls were equally held up to a standard as boys were. Watching the
film clips related to Asians and Asian Americans was an eye opening experience. Just as African
Americans are told that their natural hair is not good enough and it is internalized, it appears it
is the same for many Asian Americans in relation to their eyes. The film clip about the young
girl being taken to have plastic surgery on her eyes at the age of 12 because she felt that she
would be more beautiful was a heart breaking scene to watch. It never occurred to me that a
feature that is specific to that particular group would become something that has almost become
shameful to a lot of people. To have an eye surgery is a serious decision one has to make and for
that little girl to be so sure that she wants her eyes operated on at 12 years old was something that I
could relate to, but not understand. I also did not realize

Photography And The Invention Of Photography
Approaching the turn of the twentieth century, photography was used mainly scientifically, to
gather data and make observations. Aside from some independent portrait work, the camera was not
considered a highly artistic instrument. Cameras were barely given a second look in aristocratic
artistic circles. The idea that photographycould not be art met challenges in Britain by the Pictorial
movement, the vision of photography similar in subject to impressionist paintings that aimed to
make viewers emotional. This movement took a heavy foothold at a time when cameras were just
entering the consumer market; later making it s way across the pond to America. It is evident when
comparing the work of Gertrude Kasebier, who photographed in the... Show more content on

On the other hand Edward Weston transformed simple objects like shells, leaves, and rocks with
heavy shadows and sharp contrast, making intriguing interest (Szarkowski). Both wall worthy
artists became so effective at making attractive photographs, they earned inspiring expositions at
notable institutions. They helped spur the interest of the general public to view photographs as art
and the camera as an instrument of pleasure rather than one of work. The look of a photograph
during the time was different than anything that came before, and their styles show even in today s
photographs. Especially the work of Weston does not appear outdated . It complements modern
tastes as well.
Separating Pictorialist Photography for other photographic forms is its emphasis on emotion. A
point was made so audiences would feel connected to the still frames. If a painting could make a
old woman reflect on the happy times in her life or bring out despair in a man who had lost a
child, why couldn t a photograph do the same? To accomplish this, Käsebier pioneered women
and domestic urban situations to evoke emotions in a wide range from lust and pleasure to
frustration and disgust, a particularly marveling feat ( Gertrude Käsebier ). Later, Weston used
increasingly abstract scenes, frequenting landscapes to paint emotions (Szarkowski). The fact that

Watson And Crick What Is Life Summary
The quest for deoxyribonucleic acid was a search that had drawn out for quite a long time. The
fame for the discovery of the structure of the double helix belonged to Watson and Crick, for they
had debunked the mystery in 1953. Their finding denoted a milestone in the history of science. It
also set the path for future biology studies. This study like all others, began with a solitary idea, a
single experiment, which sparked future generations to follow the same path. This follows the fact
that the scientific methodis not linear, it is circular. Utilizing this, the two researchers, Watson and
Crick, began with a purpose, collected background research on the topic, and created a hypothesis
which led them to results that may or may not have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While both John Watson and Francis Crickdid not start out the task of uncovering the structure of
DNA, they both eased into it. At the time of my arrival, Francis theories spread far beyond the
confines of protein crystallography. Anything important would attract him (9). A major factor in
his leaving physics and developing an interest in biology has been the reading in 1946 of What is
Life? by the noted theoretical physicist Erwin SchrИЌdinger (13). This demonstrates that while
Crick did leave physics, he did it for a reason. After reading the novel, he was inspired to start a
new science life. Instead of focusing on protein crystallography, the book s ideology moved
Crick s attention to DNA. It was Wilkins who had first excited me about X ray work on DNA...
My interest in DNA had grown out (21). This indicates how Watson commenced his search on
DNA. Although not stated outright, Watson got his ideas from Wilkin. He had observed Maurice
s words and from this, he began to question and became intrigued. The same is applicable to
Francis. He embarked on the path of DNA because of the book What is Life?, which shows that it
must have sparked inquiries, since he developed an interest in biology and then acted upon it with
Watson alongside

The Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Charity
In 2001, Frank Baird founded the charity event Walk a Mile in Her Shoes: The International
Men s March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault, and Gender Violence in an effort to engage more
men in the fight against sexual violence and domestic abuse in the United States and abroad
(Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, n.d.). Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is a mile long charity walk where
men literally walk, jog, run, and occasionally trip in high heels, customarily red (the classic
emblem for the walk). However, all types of traditional women s shoes are fine, and anyone who
cannot wear heels or has special needs, such as a wheelchair, is encouraged to participate and
help raise awareness of this pressing issue while also raising money for community resources
that help survivors of sexual assault and domestic abuse. Several Walk a Mile in Her Shoes
charity walks have been successfully held in locations like Logan and Orem, UT. I have
personally volunteered as a Blister Sister during Park City s recent Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event
which benefitted the Peace House. However, the most populous county in Utah, Salt Lake County,
has never held a Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event and I think 2014 is the perfect time to bring this
celebrated event to Salt Lake City. Like other Walk a Mile in Her Shoes events, Walk a Mile in Her
Shoes, Salt Lake City! will raise funds for a local non profit organization dedicated to eliminating
sexual violence in our state the Rape Recovery Center of Utah.

Relationship Of Themes Of Developmental Theories Essay
Relationship of Themes to Developmental Theories First of all, loneliness, a first developmental
theme addressed above can be related to John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth s Attachment theory,
where Amy is living with her estranged father after the death of her mother. Initially she spends
most of her time living alone as she does not have any friends and her father is busy in his work. It s
seems that both are not attached emotionally with each other which results in the manifestation of
her affectionless psychopathy (an inability to show affection or concern for others) (McLeod, S. A.
2007). Therefore, according to Attachment Theory, a strong emotional and physical attachment to at
least one primary caregiver is critical to personal development and long term consequences of
parental deprivation might include delinquency, reduced intelligence, increased aggression,
depression, affectionless psychopathy (McLeod, S. A. 2007). Secondly, the next developmental
theme, mistrust can be related to the first stage of Erikson s psychosocial development, Trust vs.
Mistrust, where initially Amy does not trust anyone. Because of death of her mother and, father
who left Amy and his mother when she was 3 years of age, it seems like Amy did not get required
care and attention from the parents which might be the root cause of her mistrust. The symptoms of
her mistrust such as loneliness, no emotional bonding with father, no trust and proper
communication with close ones (say her father,

A simple Google search can lead you to various discussion forums, Tumblr blogs, and a plethora of

access to innumerable amounts of data and information previous generations could only dream of.
With the rise of an interactive, communicative platform, people and companies can send and

and producing media texts of their own (Toffler, 1989). The Internet provides a space where this
participatory culture can thrive. Discussion based forums and boards are especially active places
where fans can interact. According to Jenkins, message boards and forums become knowledge
communities that structure and organize the fans knowledge about a particular text (Booth, 2010,
pp. 37 38). From these interactive online hubs, fans can work together to create distinct meanings
unique to their fan culture and themselves, according to media scholar Paul Booth: Dialogue
through forums and listservs create meaning for the members of the community separated from the
meaning contained (or read) within the extant media object (Booth, 2010, pp. 37 38). Discussion
boards and forums aren t the only places where this type of interaction occurs; blogs are another
place where fans can engage in this participatory culture. Blogs, and more importantly, their ability
to comment and provide feedback are integral to the interactivity and productivity of online fandom
. According to Booth, Comments become a way for the blog to elicit feedback and participation by
members of a community. This ability to provide instantaneous feedback fulfills the desire of
instant gratification and fosters the ability to communicate more effectively as a collective

Key Ideas In The Film The Killing Fields
What is the main idea of The Killing Fields ? In the film The Killing Fields , there are lots of key
ideas, which make the film watchable and likeable. One of the key ideas of The Killing Fields
is the development of the friendship between, Dith Pran and Sydney Shanberg. Another key idea,
in the film, is survival. Survival was an important factor for Pran as he was captured, and was
taken to a working camp where, the Khmer Rouge ran the camps. The main idea of The Killing
Fields is the lasting friendship, between Dith Pran and Sydney Shanberg. At the start of the film,
Shanberg is experiencing lots of horrific things, right beside Pran and no matter what happens,
they stick together, through it all. When Shanberg found out the American embassy was going to
be evacuated, he told Pran to get his family out of Cambodia. Therefore Shanberg helped out Pran,
and his family. This helps Pran and Shanberg create a stronger relationship. Another example of
how strong their friendship is, was when the American Embassy was evacuated, despite all the
dangers that they are going to faced, they decided they would stay in Cambodia and finish the story
together. Again showing how strong Shanberg and Pran s friendship is. Another major example to
show how Shanberg and Pran s friendship is very strong, is when they get imprisoned, by the...

What made golf so difficult back then was the poorly designed and constructed clubs and balls.
The balls were made of greatly compressed feathers wrapped with horse hide, which could only

The Civil Rights Act Of 1967 And The Age Discrimination
Module 3: Option #1 Employment Law
Introduction
Before the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act
of 1967 (ADEA), the only substantive protection from discrimination for United States citizens was
the 14th Amendment, which states, equal protection of the laws. Seminal cases under this law
include, Brown v. Board of Education, and more recently, Bush v. Gore (Cornell University Law
School, 2016). Despite the 14th Amendment, discrimination based on race, sex, and age went
uncontested as it was often difficult to prove and no specific protections existed. Hence, as part of
the Civil Rights Act, the creation of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)
allowed federal law to establish protected classes (The U.S. National Archives and Records
Administration, 2016). As a person who falls under the protected class of age, this paper focuses on
age discrimination and the potential ethical issues for employers involving this protected class.
While most employers respect and follow employment laws, age discrimination is more common
than many realize and can be devastating for the individual and financially problematic for the
employer.
Age Discrimination It is somewhat surprising that employers continue to violate employment laws
dealing with discrimination. One case, Catterson v. Marymount Manhattan College, litigated and
settled in 2013, was especially egregious. According to the EEOC (2013), the college had refused,

Internet Servers (also commonly known as Web Servers), primarily function to deliver web
pages on request to clients. When a user types a domain name into their browser, or clicks on a

databases full of domain names and IP addresses. When a DNS receives a request, it matches the
domain name (ie, www.CriketX.com) to the IP address of the server that holds all of the files that
make up that particular website and sends that information back to the user s browser. The

VB development tools as well as Access and MS SQL cannot be run on Linux servers, which is
why Windows servers are a big hit with Microsoft technology fans. When it comes to system
security, Windows web servers are more prone to attacks by hackers, but this also has more to
do with administration than with the fact that it s running Windows (webdevelopersnotes.com).
Also, Linux servers perform better under heavy traffic so, in the case of shared IP hosting
where multiple sites are running on the same IP address, Linux is the better choice over
Windows. Linux also offers more ways to connect. Windows offers FTP access and it s possible
to configure telnet (if your hosting provider allows it) but Linux offers FTP, telnet, and ssh
access. Linux servers are also more likely to offer CGI and Perl access, although some Windows
servers do make it available. Both types of web servers offer server side scripting tools. When it
comes down to choosing what operating system to use on a web server, or perhaps which
hosting company to sign up with, these are all things that you need to take into consideration. In
many cases, it s best to use Linux unless you have a specific reason not to. Many content
management systems such as WordPress or Joomla use PHP and SQL which traditionally runs
faster, and more reliably, on Linux systems, but can be run on Windows web servers as well. Of

Thomas Kuhn
An Analysis of Section III of Thomas S. Kuhn s The Structure of Scientific Revolutions
Karl Popper argues that theories cannot be considered scientific if they do not leave any room for
the possibility of being false (P.O.S. 473 474). He argues that scientists must strive to prove
themselves wrong rather than right, because while there may be a hundred pieces of evidence to
support a theory, it only takes one to knock the entire idea to the ground. Thomas Kuhn disagrees
with this generalization based on the argument that how science should be done is very different
than how it is done and that scientists very rarely try to prove their theories false. Instead, Kuhn
presents science not linear or cumulative as Popper suggests, but rather ... Show more content on

There are terms used in which their given definitions lack clarification and consistency. His
definition of paradigm, as defined in section II for example, essentially states that it is a theory that
is unique and intriguing enough to attract enough supporters and that it leaves a significant amount
of questions (P.O.S. 490). Later on in the section, he defines it simply as a theory that seems better
than its competitors (Kuhn P.O.S 491). Kuhn describes in section III, three foci of normal science.
The first focus is a presentation of facts that through normal science, has been determined to
describe something s nature within the paradigm (P.O.S. 492). However, just a few paragraphs later
Kuhn admits that in reality, there are very few instances when a paradigm can actually be compared
with nature (P.O.S. 493). This presents an issue in the applicability of his theory especially in the
more theoretical or mathematical sciences. In this sense, normal science cannot work in these
disciplines without making often inexact and unobservable estimations within which to work with
(P.O.S. 493). This defect is emphasized by Popper, who stresses the use of deductive reasoning.
Deductive reasoning states that if the premises are true, then the conclusion must be true;
consequently, if the conclusion is true, then the premises must be true. Because of this, any
conclusion drawn from the use

become such an active participant in the American Revolution. He explores one citizen in
particular, the shoemaker George Robert Twelves Hewes, and how he went from a young, nervous
boy to a patriot that stood up for what he believed. Young describes that this transformation can be
explained by participation in events that inspired the revolution the BostonMassacre, the Boston tea
Party, and the tarring and feathering of John Malcolm. The first event that began to shape the man
that Hewes would become was the Boston Massacre in March of 1770. He also had several

These include a bias when commenting on the Boston Massacre, the ill explanations of the
Quartering Acts or the Tea Act which are major direct causes to the events discussed, and the fact
that the articles only focusses on events that occurred in Boston. When explaining the second
point of this article Young states that The soldiers were beaten and sought revenge. (par. 7). This
implies that the British soldiers were looking for a fight on the night of the massacre. This a type
of propaganda that was commonly used in this era to demonize the soldiers acts even though it
was most likely just an accidental shooting. Another major weakness the Young exudes hoe he
fails to mention important causes of the Boston Massacre and the Boston Tea Party. The
Quartering Act was issued by Parliament to decrease the cost of holding troops in America and
forced the colonists to house troops and pay for all of their accommodations. This information
would be helpful in describing the events that led up to the Boston Massacre. Another fact that
would aid the reader s understanding of the cause of an event would be to explain the Tea Act, as
this was the most direct cause to the Boston Tea Party. This act was in place to undercut Dutch
smugglers and force the American colonists to buy tea from Britain directly. This angered the
colonists and led to the refusal to unload tea in the Boston

failure is either wearing off the rolling element, or misalignment of bearing which is a result of
failure of bearing spacer. The system effect due to this is difficulty in cornering the vehicle, harsh

Essay about History of Religion in Communist Cuba
History of Religion in Communist Cuba
Introduction:
The evolution of religion in Cuba, after Castro s insurrection in 1959, has included much
suppression by its proclaimed atheist, communistic government. There are several reasons that
account for why this suppression has occurred, coupled by a recent trend (beginning in the late
1980s) of a religious revival, and more importantly, a growing Christian population within Cuban
society. This growing spirituality can be attributed to many aspects of the Cuban economy and
society. Also, it is important to observe how Castro s negation of religious and human rights was
perceived by Pope John Paul II during his pilgrimage to Cuba in January of 1998. The suppression
which has existed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Spiritual Hunger Existing in Modern Day Cuba:
This trend has often been considered a reflection of the economic hardships being suffered
throughout Cuba, and it has even been deemed a spiritual crisis . Disillusioned Cubans are
desperately searching for means of gaining political and civil rights and religion is the driving force
behind this momentum. This new trend is described by author John W. Kennedy when he says,
After nearly four decades of unrealized communist dreams, Cubans are ripe for change. There is a
spiritual hunger in the land, a void that Marxism has been unable to fill. Cubans turn to religion
(and more specifically the Catholic Church) because it is an autonomous institution, outside
Castro s regime that can offer them aid, and solutions for how to better their lives. Cubans calls
for help have been addressed by many Catholic churches. These institutions are now, (after Castro
has subsided some of his suppressive policies) allowed to distribute daily necessities such as
medicine, food, and health care free of cost. This is however, ultimately beneficial for Castro
because it relieves some of the pressure which has been inflicted on the state of Cuba. This growing
necessity for religion that began amidst a long history of suppression realizes its future of
conflicting ideologies with the Communist party of

Motherly Love In Toni Morrison s Beloved
Beloved by, Toni Morrison is a phenomenal book revolving a story of an ex slave women named
Sethe. Throughout Beloved, the audience is able to witness the idea of the trauma caused by,
slavery. Most importantly, the audience witnessed the power of motherly love and the hard
decisions some mothers have to make. Specifically, readers was able to see motherly love through
the circumstances of slavery. Especially, through the relationship between Sethe and her children.
Sethe is a traumatized ex slave and was forced to do many actions that were questionable
throughout the story. However, Sethe s actions were due to her strong motherly love. Sadly, it was
due to slavery which forced her to make questionable and harsh decisions in order for, the wellbeing
of her children. Indisputably, motherly love is different than any other love but, motherly love in
the conditions of slavery is much more unique. Throughout her time as a mother, she was forced to
make choices that no typical mother would ever do such as, killing her daughter, Beloved and
attempting to kill the rest of her kids. Despite potential critiques and her actions, Sethe s motherly
love is unusual than other forms of motherly love because of the factor of slavery but, she is still a

few facts that are very important to how New York has evolved into the great city it is. For one
it was founded in 1624 and was called New Netherland. Also later in time New Jersey split off
from New York. These are just a few of the many facts about the New York Colony. New York is
an interesting colony with a lot of history behind it. First, let us talk about the geography, natural
resource and climate of New York. New York has mountains along the eastern coast and going
along the Canadian border. The Middle Colonies geography had a mix of

Health Information Security Essay
I have taken the following from the BMA s Confidentiality and Disclosure of Health Information
Tool Kit which appears to have no publication date.
Access to medical records is getting more and more complicated. There is multiple published
guidance from the GMC, BMA, Department of Health as well as many legal acts which come into
force:
Data Protection Act 1998: processing of information held
Access to Health Records Act 1990: rights of access to deceased patients records
Human Rights Act 1998: right to a private life not absolute
Computer Misuse Act 1990: unauthorised access to computer material (using someone else s
password/login)
NHS Act 2006 (England and Wales): Secretary of State for Health has the power to make
regulations permitting disclosure of identifiable information ... Show more content on

The GMC also advises that disclosure without consent can be justified in the public interest to
enable medical research.
Where serious crime is involved, the decision to disclose is fairly easy: murder, rape, kidnapping,
child abuse. However, minor fraud and damage to property would not justify disclosure. Public
safety is a common area that we get involved in. Those who continue to drive with uncontrolled
alcohol dependence, day time epileptic seizures, hypoglycaemia and other such conditions where
their driving license is not valid should inform the DVLA and if they refuse then we have a duty to
inform the DVLA without consent. I always inform the patient that I am doing this.
Where there is a threat to others from a serious communicable disease eg HIV then confidentiality
may be breached to inform sexual contacts.
As Nicola states information should be kept to a minimum and only to the relevant person. The
default should be that the patient is informed unless there is a reason not

Clutch Repairs Essay
It may well be time for clutch repairs in Delph if your clutch feels soft or spongy. Changing
gears is difficult and there is a burning smell when you engage the clutch. Having a clutch
repaired or changed is not the same as having the oil of your car changed, and it can be that your
clutch is worn and due for repairs. The wear and tear on your clutch depends on your own driving
style and your driving environment. A car needs a clutch because the engine spins all the time, but
the car s wheels do not. For a car to stop without killing the engine, the wheels need to be
disconnected from the engine. The clutch allows us to smoothly engage a spinning engine to a non
spinning transmission by controlling the slippage between them. If you believe... Show more

The Impact Of Outdoor Advertising On Consumer Buying...
The purpose of this research paper is to evaluate the impact outdoor advertising on consumer buying
decision and behaviour in Cameroon. Our study explores consumer s personality and attitude,
analyses how consumers make their purchase decisions and why consumers buy. It also describes
on the other hand, advertisingstrategies and methods used in shaping consumers behaviour. To test
our experiment, we shall use the qualitative design method and self random sampling will be used
to select 100 potential consumers (buyers) of the working age group (25 60years old). The scope
of study was limited to Cameroon region. Our analyses and arguments shall be supported from
secondary data gotten from journals, newspapers, articles, books...etc. Our theorically frame work
shall be drawn from the following; the theory of planned behaviour (icek Ajzen 2006), theory of
reasoned action (Martin Fishbein 1975), the consumer decision model(Blackwell, Miniard et al.
2001), buyer behaviour theory (Howard Andsheth 1969)...ETC.
Key words: Advertising, outdoor advertising, consumer attitude and personality, buying behaviour

Classical Conditioning Experiments
Out of the groups with living planarian and consistent data, 14 of the 41 had both sections
respond to the light and six had neither respond. The most responsive section was shown to be
the head section, with 29 responses, and the tail section only ended up with seven responses.
These planaria that did react to the light showed that the classical conditioning was able to work
on them by showing a reaction to the light without being shocked. These results show that the
majority of the planarian had some kind of a reaction with 36 of the 41 had either the tail or the
head react. Unfortunately, these results are not completely accurate due to the fact that a few
planaria died and a few groups added data from the regenerated planaria instead of from the
original. Also, some of the data was inconsistent because the table would say the head or tail
responded, but was stated in the comments that the planarian was dead. Another issue with the
results was that some groups were unsure if a section had responded or not. There were also most
likely a few unknown errors as well. There could have been a reaction that was... Show more

This experiment proved that both sections can react, although not all will. The most common was
for only the head section to react to the light. This may be due to the fact that planarian have most
of the same neurotransmitters that humans have, but also a bonus, the ability to grow the brain
back. Levin, a professor and director of the Tufts Center for Regenerative and Developmental
Biology, believes that when a planarian regrows the brain, the same memories are still retained.
Animals store memories inside the brain, although, his experiments show that planaria also can
store them outside of the brain, in other body tissues (Blanding

Essay about Does Your Company Contribute to Gross...
How do you measure the happiness of a nation? One measure often used, Gross National Product,
examines the total financial value of all services and goods in a nation. As can attest to, however,
money doesn t always equal happiness. While the financial value of what s produced may rank
relatively high, if the money is concentrated in the hands of a relatively small amount of people, the
nation s overall happinessisn t that high. Additionally, other measures of population happiness are
often overlooked in gross national product metrics. A city may be bursting at the seams with money,
but mired in pollution, corruption, and noise. Citizens might make products that let them pay for
housing and food, but if medical care is unaffordable,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Promoting community contribution as a way to make clients happier is nothing new; law firms,
construction contractors, and cafes across the globe contribute to local causes. Sometimes it takes
the form of Adopt a Highway participation, or the sponsorship of a local free clinic s fundraising
banquet. This speaks to the concept of Enlightened Self Interest , in which these contributions
encourage potential customers to do business with the company, while actively helping the wider
community.
Conversely, bad customer service experiences not only decrease community happiness, but they
also decrease a company s bottom line. People listen to stories of bad service, thirsting for juicy
details, and so not only will an upset customer consider leaving your company, but potential
customers may never do business with you. Outside of a potential short term financial benefit from
denying your customers request, the impact of having customers angry about their experience with
customer service will be negative on your company.
Thus, when developing your approach to customer complaints and concerns, think about how your
company is contributing to Gross National Happiness, not just Gross National Product. Taking a
broader perspective is great not only for your community, but for your business s long term health as

Venezuela Is Just Another Chapter
Venezuela is just another chapter in my ongoing book. I was born in Tamaulipas, Mexico my
home country and got moved 3 months later to New Orleans. It was uncommon for a Mexican
family to move so constantly all over the world, we are known to migrate to US or not migrate at
all. I don t remember New Orleans so I regarded to my next move, Colombia as my home.
Colombia was everything a 4 year old wanted, friends, close to family, wonderful house and most
importantly the school was accepting of others. I felt as if I belonged, I even sang the national
anthem with pride, seeing that it was my country. I knew Colombia inside out, I knew the
language, culture, food, education which gave me comfort as for a long time I felt ordinary like any

Time passed and I still hated Mexico. I complained every day, I wanted to go back to the place I
loved, but a knife cuts both ways with a loose definition of origin, it s effortless to feel as if you
don t belong anywhere. I started to see the bright sides of moving to Mexico, such as having my
entire family with me and having more time to learn about the country I was born from and
obtain pride within it. However, Mexico was not my country, it was always busy with people
shouting and the school was not helping either. The school was far from accepting, everyone
knew each other since kindergarten getting a new kid was like winning an exceedingly rare
lottery. Everyone had a rough time adapting, but at the end, we all found our way, after all,
intelligence is the ability to adapt. We stayed in Mexico for a year, this gave me enough time to
fall in love with my country, I accepted the situation for exactly what it was instead of trying to
manipulate it into what I believe it should be. However wonderful or substandard the situation
was I would always find the solution. The traffic was unbearable, the city was too dangerous, my
accent was confusing. I accepted these challenges so I could feel the acceleration of victory, I
started to take the subway, never left the house alone and started to observe how everyone else
spoke and copied their accent, even though hard work does not guarantee success, success cannot
be achieved without hard work. We also gained a

Dogloo Overview Lewis Byrd, a partner of Opportunity Capital Partners and the lead in the Dogloo investment, is currently facing the issues below: * Dogloo is in the lawsuit regarding Doskocil s trademark infringement, which is consuming large amount of money and management time thus detrimental to Dogloo s healthy growth. * Dogloo s products are facing significant increasing market demand, which exposed its outsourced manufacturers inability to increase capacity and led into lost sales. * Aurelio Barreto, CEO of Dogloo, is not meeting expectations to work within the financial and organizational constraints of the company, despite his strong product development and marketing capabilities. Analysis Investment Structure The total amount of the investment is worth $7 million and is invested by the below parties: * Synenergy Diversified Capital committed capital of $6.25 million * Opportunity Capital Corporation $150,000 * Opportunity Capital Partners $600,000 The $7 million is in the form of subordinated debentures that matures in 7 years with an interest rate of 13%. This rate is very high because subordinated debentures investors bear significantly more risk, which is a major drawback of this form of investment since the debt might not be repaid. The biggest benefit for Dogloo to issue subordinated debenture is that the subordination makes the debt being accounted in the company s equity based on the balance sheet. This effectively improves the company s leverage ratios and allows the company to obtain future loans more easily. Analysis Return on Investment OCC and OCP together invested $750,000 into Dogloo in the form of subordinated debenture with 13% interest rate, which guarantees them stable interest cash inflows each year (Exhibit 4). The two investors combined ownership interest will be 0.5% of the Dogloo s equity value because the company s equity valuation is $213 million, exceeding $80 million; this will be the cash inflow at exit for the investors. Through calculation, the required equity value at exit is $238 million if the investors have an estimated IRR of 25% (Exhibit 4). Conclusion Based on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Religious Experience Research Paper The term religious experience can come up with a wide range and diverse series of images. We might assume that it can include anything from a prayer, to attending a service at a place of worship, to even hearing the voice of God . The argument for the existence of God based on religious experience is in fact a posteriori as it is based on people s encounters with God. Unlike other arguments, the argument is based on a direct link to God if we are able to show that God is experienced then we therefore cannot deny his existence. Many people are more likely to believe something if it has been experienced. Our experience of God is the best evidence we have that God exists. There are many definitions of religious experience which include one from Rudolph Otto who stated the term numinous for the feeling of the presence of a greater being, which is with you but yet somehow ... Other than this the psychologist William James does also study a lot of religious experiences, and in his lectures entitled On the Varieties of Religious Experience he clearly outlines four key characteristics which go on to define a religious experience. First there s a sense of noetic quality, which means that by virtue of the experience the subject becomes aware of some revelation. Also Religious experiences tend to be transient, so that whilst the experience may have a profound effect upon the subject, it lasts a relatively short period of time, and often the details are forgotten afterwards. • 4. The Effects Of Bpa On Human Health Bisphenol A, commonly referred to as BPA, is a synthetic carbon compound present in consumer plastic products. These products include water bottles, food containers, canned foods coated with protective linings, and shopping receipts. According to the CDC, 93% of Americans have traces of BPA chemicals present in their urine samples. This has recently attracted attention in the media because BPA is linked with a plethora of potential health hazards; such as the development of cancer, diabetes, asthma, and disruptions in the endocrine system. Scientists currently focus on the estrogenic activity caused by levels of BPA chemicals found in consumer plastic products, and are concerned about the potential negative effects on human health. This concern is based studies which have shown disruptions in the reproductive and endocrine systems of laboratory rats (Vinas and Watson 2013). The estrogenic properties of the compound BPA were first discovered by British medical researcher Edward Charles Dodds in the 1930s. Dodds aimed to create a drug that could be used to treat problems relating to pregnancy symptoms, menopause, menstruation, and the prevention of miscarriages. Although BPA was not successful in the medical industry, around the same time, chemists in Switzerland and the United States discovered that BPA could be made into epoxy resins. This new discovery quickly became popular in the industrial production industries for uses such as piping, adhesives, and protective ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Stones Cry Out Themes Essay The Stones Cry Out: Analytical Essay In Hikaru Okuizumi s book, The Stones Cry Out , we follow a man named Manase through his life after the war. Although this seems like just a look on a mans life, there are many themes that tie us in. Hikaru uses many literary elements to develop those themes. Four of those elements are complication, false assumptions, flashbacks, and foreshadowing. Although there are many key themes, the two I noticed the most were the psychological effects of war and family complications due to the loss of a loved one. Complications are defined as obstacles that increase tension. In the beginning of the book, the complications would be when Manase is faced with his memories of the time he was in the cave... Flashbacks, foreshadowing, false assumptions, and complications are the elements I found most apparent in this book. They aren t the only elements though, he does have more, like imagery and personification through the symbols of the book. Though this book leaves us with many questions, it was a good read and I found it very interesting. Hikaru Okuizumi is a profound author, and this novel proves ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In most cases it is rare to find that one driver is fully at fault in a truck accident apart from the rear end collisions. It is usually more likely that both parties played a role and are all at fault with one of them being the biggest contributor than the other. One of the most important factors used in the determination of fault is mostly the legal principle of negligence. Law courts and insurance companies will determine the fault by applying the negligence principle or the driver s failure of exercising duty of care. For example, Finland is one of the most successful countries in creating proper educational settings for students to excel when it comes to world competition. School related stress has its roots in many different places. On a national scale, surveys and research have in fact confirmed that school related pressures were the primary source of stress for the majority of younger and older children (qtd. in Blazer 2). Not long ago, kindergartens were places for children to play and learn basics, like the alphabet, but now all of it has changed to teaching kids about test taking, doing reading/writing exercises, and even homework (Blazer 4). In an article titled, Success with Less Stress, Jerusha Conner, an Assistant Professor of Education at Villanova University, and his partners conducted a study to find what students say about the causes of school stress. The research revealed that standardized tests, large assignments, and college admissions were very frequent answers. Exceeding competition has also caused stress among students because they feel the need to build the best rГ©sumГ©, and this leads to over scheduled days (Redding). • 9. Queen Gertrude in Shakespeare s Hamlet a Victim not Murderer Gertrude never seems to get in the middle of Hamlet and Claudius disputes, so many tend to assume that she is involved in King Hamlet s murder. However, there is an abundance of in text evidence that suggests she is very innocent and oblivious to Claudius plots throughout the play. Most of this evidence supporting that Gertrude has nothing to do with King Hamlets sudden death. From the start, Gertrude comes off as a very clueless and almost blind character to the things happening around her. She mourns for the death of the man she loved, but with her country in mind does what she thinks is best. Sadly, while doing so, she involves herself in a dispute that turns deadly. She even becomes baffled by Claudius? strange behavior when he screams, ?Give me some light, away!? (Shakespeare 3.2.172). Gertrude clearly did now know the plot line of the play before having seen it, therefore she could not have been involved in the making of it earlier in the play. When problems with Ophilia and Hamlet arise, Claudius simply sees this as another opportunity to quiet Hamlet. He encourages the relationship, hoping if Hamlet is seeing Polonius? daughter, he wont speak out about his suspicions of Claudius. Although, when Gertrude gets word of these news, she sees this as a completely different opportunity. She, unlike her new husband, encourages the relationship in hopes that it will cheer up her son and he will return to normal. She says to Ophilia, ?And for your part, Ophelia, I do wish that your good beauties be the happy cause of Hamlet s wildness. So shall I hope your virtues will bring him to his wonted way again, to both your honors? (Shakespeare 3.1.136). Gertrude only thinks of her sons well being. Goblin Market portrayed how Laura is seriously tempted just to gain self pleasure. In Christina s poem Laura even asks Lizzie if she has tasted For my sake the fruit forbidden? (Packer 376). Unlike Lizzie, who decided to remain away and pure from all temptations. Another strong Christian portrayal is Lizzie s words, Eat me, drink me, love me; / Laura, make much of me, (471 472). Lizzie is represented as Christ, sacrificing herself to save her sister Laura from her sin. There is a reference to the words of Christ at the Last Supper, This is my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me. This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me (New International Version, 1 Cor. 11:23 25). Christ sacrificed himself for the sins of man and Lizzie, who is good and pure, sacrificed herself for the sins of her sister Laura. Another interpretation of Rossetti s Goblin Market is with erotic connotations. Rossetti describes several sensual body parts such as cheeks, lips and breasts. Also, Rossetti s word choice such as hugging, kissing and squeezing really raised the theme of sex in her poem. I ate and ate my fill, / Yet my mouth waters still (165 166). It still remains that even though we can t remember any thought before we wake, we know that there was because we heard the noise and woke up. We still have experiences while asleep whether they are dreams or experience of hot or cold or a smell or a sound. We know we still experience them because they arouse us to wakefulness and therefore are experience while in deep sleep. Therefore, it is possible that while in deep sleep we might not remember everything we thought but we are still thinking or else we would probably never wake up. • 12. Arsenic Research Papers Brianna Cross10/28/16 Chemistry Essay Arsenic Arsenic is one of the most toxic elements that can be found on Earth. Arsenic has a symbol of As and an atomic number of 33. It is a metalloid which gives it both metal and nonmetal characteristics. Arsenic has many allotropes, but the gray form is important for industry. The three main allotropes are metallic gray, black, and yellow. Gray arsenic is brittle and has a low hardness (based on the Moh s hardness scale) yet a high density. Yellow arsenic is soft and waxy. It is least dense and most toxic. It is also transformed into gray arsenic by light. Black arsenic is brittle and glassy. It is a poor electrical conductor as well. Inorganic and organic compounds of arsenic are found in many places among the earth. Arsenic is discovered in the environment from both nature and certain human activities. • 13. The Reason That Chip Wilson Plunged Lululemon Into Crisis Analysis The reason that Chip Wilson plunged Lululemon into crisis again is because of three major issues: lack of media training as a spokesperson, lack of comprehensive crisis management plan in the company, and failure of internal communication. First of all, spokesperson media training is part of crisis preparation. In this case, lacking media training includes training for a TV interview and training for filming a video apology. Prior to Chip Wilson s interview with Bloomberg TV, managers from the PR department should have conducted a comprehensive media training to Wilson. Topics cover from diagnosing company s vulnerabilities, to preparing for difficult questions, to how to utilize chances to re enhance the company s image, and how to risk averse after a major crisis. As Wilson s answer caused another crisis, I assume that he was not ready to answer the questions of sheer pants recall, nor he was ever participated in any media training at all. Erik Bernstein who runs a crisis managementblog noted that some people should never act as spokesperson. In fact, what surprised me was that as a company s founder and chairman of board, it was Chip Wilson s responsibility to have a general knowledge about the crisis and what caused the crisis and what procedures they have taken to solve the crisis. Even though he was never prepared for those questions beforehand, answers such as women s bodies don t fit its pants should have never came up. This crisis could have been ... These problems presented themselves as troublesome for the organization, hindering its ability to perform accordingly. Rianey (2014) suggests that the complications include that goals are always multiple. Due to the number of goals an organization may have, research indicates that differing goals is quite common amongst organizations. In the AMC s case, the separation between the national and individual chapters have created the appearance that the organization as a whole has a number of goals, although more likely than not these goals are more associated with an individual chapter. Rainy (2014) argues that these differing goals often times create goal conflicts within an organization, leading to organizational ineffectiveness. With this in mind, it is quite clear to see the ways that the organization can be impacted by the multitude of organizational goals impacting the ability of the organization to be impactful. The second problem plaguing the AMC was their inability to remain financially stable. Unlike the financial growth and stability the individual chapters were receiving, the national organization faced significant financial problems [which resulted] in a major projected budget deficit. The fame for the discovery of the structure of the double helix belonged to Watson and Crick, for they had debunked the mystery in 1953. Their finding denoted a milestone in the history of science. It also set the path for future biology studies. This study like all others, began with a solitary idea, a single experiment, which sparked future generations to follow the same path. This follows the fact that the scientific methodis not linear, it is circular. Utilizing this, the two researchers, Watson and Crick, began with a purpose, collected background research on the topic, and created a hypothesis which led them to results that may or may not have... At the time of my arrival, Francis theories spread far beyond the confines of protein crystallography. Anything important would attract him (9). A major factor in his leaving physics and developing an interest in biology has been the reading in 1946 of What is Life? by the noted theoretical physicist Erwin SchrИЌdinger (13). This demonstrates that while Crick did leave physics, he did it for a reason. After reading the novel, he was inspired to start a new science life. Instead of focusing on protein crystallography, the book s ideology moved Crick s attention to DNA. It was Wilkins who had first excited me about X ray work on DNA... My interest in DNA had grown out (21). This indicates how Watson commenced his search on DNA. Although not stated outright, Watson got his ideas from Wilkin. He had observed Maurice s words and from this, he began to question and became intrigued. The same is applicable to Francis. He embarked on the path of DNA because of the book What is Life?, which shows that it must have sparked inquiries, since he developed an interest in biology and then acted upon it with Watson alongside ... Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is a mile long charity walk where men literally walk, jog, run, and occasionally trip in high heels, customarily red (the classic emblem for the walk). • 24. Relationship Of Themes Of Developmental Theories Essay Relationship of Themes to Developmental Theories First of all, loneliness, a first developmental theme addressed above can be related to John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth s Attachment theory, where Amy is living with her estranged father after the death of her mother. Initially she spends most of her time living alone as she does not have any friends and her father is busy in his work. It s seems that both are not attached emotionally with each other which results in the manifestation of her affectionless psychopathy (an inability to show affection or concern for others) (McLeod, S. A. 2007). Therefore, according to Attachment Theory, a strong emotional and physical attachment to at least one primary caregiver is critical to personal development and long term consequences of parental deprivation might include delinquency, reduced intelligence, increased aggression, depression, affectionless psychopathy (McLeod, S. A. 2007). Secondly, the next developmental theme, mistrust can be related to the first stage of Erikson s psychosocial development, Trust vs. Mistrust, where initially Amy does not trust anyone. Because of death of her mother and, father who left Amy and his mother when she was 3 years of age, it seems like Amy did not get required care and attention from the parents which might be the root cause of her mistrust. The symptoms of her mistrust such as loneliness, no emotional bonding with father, no trust and proper communication with close ones (say her father, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Jenkins, message boards and forums become knowledge communities that structure and organize the fans knowledge about a particular text (Booth, 2010, pp. 37 38). From these interactive online hubs, fans can work together to create distinct meanings unique to their fan culture and themselves, according to media scholar Paul Booth: Dialogue through forums and listservs create meaning for the members of the community separated from the meaning contained (or read) within the extant media object (Booth, 2010, pp. 37 38). Discussion boards and forums aren t the only places where this type of interaction occurs; blogs are another place where fans can engage in this participatory culture. Blogs, and more importantly, their ability to comment and provide feedback are integral to the interactivity and productivity of online fandom . The Civil Rights Act Of 1967 And The Age Discrimination Module 3: Option #1 Employment Law Introduction Before the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 (ADEA), the only substantive protection from discrimination for United States citizens was the 14th Amendment, which states, equal protection of the laws. Seminal cases under this law include, Brown v. Board of Education, and more recently, Bush v. Gore (Cornell University Law School, 2016). Despite the 14th Amendment, discrimination based on race, sex, and age went uncontested as it was often difficult to prove and no specific protections existed. Hence, as part of the Civil Rights Act, the creation of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) allowed federal law to establish protected classes (The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration, 2016). As a person who falls under the protected class of age, this paper focuses on age discrimination and the potential ethical issues for employers involving this protected class. While most employers respect and follow employment laws, age discrimination is more common than many realize and can be devastating for the individual and financially problematic for the employer. Most Common Internet Server Operating Systems Most Common Internet Server Operating Systems POS/355 Internet Servers (also commonly known as Web Servers), primarily function to deliver web pages on request to clients. When a user types a domain name into their browser, or clicks on a link, the request is first sent to a Domain Name Server (DNS). DNSs are servers that hold databases full of domain names and IP addresses. When a DNS receives a request, it matches the domain name (ie, www.CriketX.com) to the IP address of the server that holds all of the files that make up that particular website and sends that information back to the user s browser. Also, Linux servers perform better under heavy traffic so, in the case of shared IP hosting where multiple sites are running on the same IP address, Linux is the better choice over Windows. Kuhn s The Structure of Scientific Revolutions Karl Popper argues that theories cannot be considered scientific if they do not leave any room for the possibility of being false (P.O.S. 473 474). He argues that scientists must strive to prove themselves wrong rather than right, because while there may be a hundred pieces of evidence to support a theory, it only takes one to knock the entire idea to the ground. Thomas Kuhn disagrees with this generalization based on the argument that how science should be done is very different than how it is done and that scientists very rarely try to prove their theories false. There are terms used in which their given definitions lack clarification and consistency. His definition of paradigm, as defined in section II for example, essentially states that it is a theory that is unique and intriguing enough to attract enough supporters and that it leaves a significant amount of questions (P.O.S. 490). Later on in the section, he defines it simply as a theory that seems better than its competitors (Kuhn P.O.S 491). Kuhn describes in section III, three foci of normal science. The first focus is a presentation of facts that through normal science, has been determined to describe something s nature within the paradigm (P.O.S. 492). However, just a few paragraphs later Kuhn admits that in reality, there are very few instances when a paradigm can actually be compared with nature (P.O.S. 493). This presents an issue in the applicability of his theory especially in the more theoretical or mathematical sciences. In this sense, normal science cannot work in these disciplines without making often inexact and unobservable estimations within which to work with (P.O.S. 493). This defect is emphasized by Popper, who stresses the use of deductive reasoning. Where serious crime is involved, the decision to disclose is fairly easy: murder, rape, kidnapping, child abuse. However, minor fraud and damage to property would not justify disclosure. Public safety is a common area that we get involved in. Those who continue to drive with uncontrolled alcohol dependence, day time epileptic seizures, hypoglycaemia and other such conditions where their driving license is not valid should inform the DVLA and if they refuse then we have a duty to inform the DVLA without consent. I always inform the patient that I am doing this. Where there is a threat to others from a serious communicable disease eg HIV then confidentiality may be breached to inform sexual contacts. As Nicola states information should be kept to a minimum and only to the relevant person. The default should be that the patient is informed unless there is a reason not ... • 42. Classical Conditioning Experiments Out of the groups with living planarian and consistent data, 14 of the 41 had both sections respond to the light and six had neither respond. The most responsive section was shown to be the head section, with 29 responses, and the tail section only ended up with seven responses. These planaria that did react to the light showed that the classical conditioning was able to work on them by showing a reaction to the light without being shocked. These results show that the majority of the planarian had some kind of a reaction with 36 of the 41 had either the tail or the head react. Unfortunately, these results are not completely accurate due to the fact that a few planaria died and a few groups added data from the regenerated planaria instead of from the original. Also, some of the data was inconsistent because the table would say the head or tail responded, but was stated in the comments that the planarian was dead. Another issue with the results was that some groups were unsure if a section had responded or not. There were also most likely a few unknown errors as well. There could have been a reaction that was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This experiment proved that both sections can react, although not all will. The most common was for only the head section to react to the light. This may be due to the fact that planarian have most of the same neurotransmitters that humans have, but also a bonus, the ability to grow the brain back. Levin, a professor and director of the Tufts Center for Regenerative and Developmental Biology, believes that when a planarian regrows the brain, the same memories are still retained. Animals store memories inside the brain, although, his experiments show that planaria also can store them outside of the brain, in other body tissues (Blanding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Essay about Does Your Company Contribute to Gross... How do you measure the happiness of a nation? One measure often used, Gross National Product, examines the total financial value of all services and goods in a nation. As can attest to, however, money doesn t always equal happiness. While the financial value of what s produced may rank relatively high, if the money is concentrated in the hands of a relatively small amount of people, the nation s overall happinessisn t that high. Additionally, other measures of population happiness are often overlooked in gross national product metrics. A city may be bursting at the seams with money, but mired in pollution, corruption, and noise. Citizens might make products that let them pay for housing and food, but if medical care is unaffordable,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Promoting community contribution as a way to make clients happier is nothing new; law firms, construction contractors, and cafes across the globe contribute to local causes. Sometimes it takes the form of Adopt a Highway participation, or the sponsorship of a local free clinic s fundraising banquet. This speaks to the concept of Enlightened Self Interest , in which these contributions encourage potential customers to do business with the company, while actively helping the wider community. Conversely, bad customer service experiences not only decrease community happiness, but they also decrease a company s bottom line. People listen to stories of bad service, thirsting for juicy details, and so not only will an upset customer consider leaving your company, but potential customers may never do business with you. Outside of a potential short term financial benefit from denying your customers request, the impact of having customers angry about their experience with customer service will be negative on your company. Thus, when developing your approach to customer complaints and concerns, think about how your company is contributing to Gross National Happiness, not just Gross National Product. Taking a broader perspective is great not only for your community, but for your business s long term health as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Venezuela Is Just Another Chapter Venezuela is just another chapter in my ongoing book. I was born in Tamaulipas, Mexico my home country and got moved 3 months later to New Orleans. It was uncommon for a Mexican family to move so constantly all over the world, we are known to migrate to US or not migrate at all. I don t remember New Orleans so I regarded to my next move, Colombia as my home. Colombia was everything a 4 year old wanted, friends, close to family, wonderful house and most importantly the school was accepting of others. I felt as if I belonged, I even sang the national anthem with pride, seeing that it was my country. I knew Colombia inside out, I knew the language, culture, food, education which gave me comfort as for a long time I felt ordinary like any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Time passed and I still hated Mexico. I complained every day, I wanted to go back to the place I loved, but a knife cuts both ways with a loose definition of origin, it s effortless to feel as if you don t belong anywhere. I started to see the bright sides of moving to Mexico, such as having my entire family with me and having more time to learn about the country I was born from and obtain pride within it. However, Mexico was not my country, it was always busy with people shouting and the school was not helping either. The school was far from accepting, everyone knew each other since kindergarten getting a new kid was like winning an exceedingly rare lottery. Everyone had a rough time adapting, but at the end, we all found our way, after all, intelligence is the ability to adapt. We stayed in Mexico for a year, this gave me enough time to fall in love with my country, I accepted the situation for exactly what it was instead of trying to manipulate it into what I believe it should be. However wonderful or substandard the situation was I would always find the solution. The traffic was unbearable, the city was too dangerous, my accent was confusing. I accepted these challenges so I could feel the acceleration of victory, I started to take the subway, never left the house alone and started to observe how everyone else spoke and copied their accent, even though hard work does not guarantee success, success cannot be achieved without hard work. We also gained a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
