The Persian Gulf War Essay
The Persian Gulf War
The war in the Persian Gulf was a war of religious favor, cruel leadership, and greed. Desert Storm or
more commonly known ass The Golf War was the same type of war that had accrued in this area for
many years except for one fact. In Operation Desert Storm, it was a mix of sophisticated technology
and the combined leadership and cooperation from the coalition that was used to end the war in a
quick and timely manner. Which in the end probably saved thousands of lives.
In 1979 Saddam Hussien took control of Iraq, and immediately made his presence known when he
killed 21 of his cabinet members. He wanted to make his country whole once again. So in 1990 he

The names of a few of the major countries were Australia, Canada, Czechoslovakia, and Italy. The war
was financed by countries that were unable to send in troops. More than 53 billion was pledged. Saudi
Arabia and southern Kuwait were the largest donors. Switzerland also contributed to the allies, after
being neutral during both World War I and World War II.
The largest tank battle in the war conclusively showed the superiority of the coalition s tanks new
technology that allowed them to attach at an impossible distance where they were basically immune
from Iraq fire. Another benefit to the new technology was the new types of metal they were making
the tanks out of. It was strong and most importantly light which was necessary for maneuverability
reasons. As a whole, the battles showed that the coalition clearly out classed the tactics of the Iraq s
emphasized pitched engagements and linear movements as they had been taught by there soviet
leaders. In the entire Gulf War Iraq lost around 4,000 tanks and the coalition lost only 4. This quote
states the truth about the situation in Desert Storm. quot;Iraq went from the fourth largest army in the
world to the second biggest army in Iraq in 100 hours. quot; Said Lieutenant General Tom Kelly. On
the final night of the war, within hours of the cease fire, two United States Air Force bombers

The Story of Maurice White and Earth Wind and Fire
The reason I decided to prepared my paper on Maurice White, the founder of Earth Wind and Fire is
because of the fond memories that I have listening to my parents music. Music from the parents era is
very different from the music of today. Music from that era was more love oriented, rhythmic and rich
in science of music and musical arrangements. Artists my parents are fond of consists of music from
such groups as the Four Tops, the Dells, the Dramatics, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, the Chi
Lites and Stylistics. They also list Junior Walker and the All stars, Al Jaureau, and Ronnie Laws,
among others, as jazz groups. However, Earth Wind and Fire s sound is unique and quite different
from all other groups of that era.

I wanted our music to convey messages of universal love and harmony without force feeding listeners

None of this was planned. The universe played a part in the whole thing, obviously. We just took our

The album was a success and the band began touring. In 1973, the band recorded Head to the Sky.

Open Our Eyes became EWF s first platinum album. The message in the music was clearly a
reflection of Maurice White s vision for the group. Maurice states, From the very start, I had a
commitment to be different in terms of music and what was projected on stage. Coming out of a
period of social confusion in the seventies, I wanted Earth, Wind Fire to reflect the growing search for
greater self understanding, greater freedom from restrictions we placed on ourselves in terms of
individual potential.

Cleisthenes As An Opportunist
Cleisthenes was the Athenian politician setting the stage of democracy around c.520 BC and to c.400
BC. An opportunist is defined by Oxford dictionaries as: A person who takes advantage of
opportunities as and when they arise, regardless of planning or principle . For many, this sums up the
rule of Cleisthenes as he took advantage of the anti tyrannical movement and of the power he was
given to improve the position of himself and his Alcmaeonid family. However, this essay will argue
that although Cleisthenes did take advantage of opportunities, he was ultimately very principled in
nature and was actually a reactionist. This is to say that he reacted to problems and events that
occurred and dealt with them the best he could, rather than taking advantage of the opportunity to
better himself, the elite classes or his family.
To many, Cleisthenes was simply an opportunist. One way he can be said to be opportunistic is during
his rise to power. This idea has stemmed from the ancient Greek author Herodotus, and in parts
Aristotle as well. On the whole, these are two ancient authors with semi opposing views, with
Herodotus being a stronger source for stating Cleisthenes was an opportunist. The main reason most
historians believe that Cleisthenes was an opportunist is because of the account from Herodotus
histories. The account is as follows: these two [Isagoras and Cleisthenes] were rivals for power, and
Cleisthenes, who was getting the worst of it, took the people into his

Howard Zinn Thesis
In Howard Zinn s A People s History of the United States and Voices of a People s History of the
United States, he discusses a numerous amount of events that happened throughout the history of the
United States. His readers are able to read about war, the middle class, common people working for
change, struggles of the common people, present and previous struggles, Zinn s hope for the middle
class, the causes for wars, and how they affected others, his readers will also read about President
Carter, Reagan, Bush Sr., Clinton, and Bush Jr. In his books, he analyzes these presidents and all of
their similarities and differences concerning welfare, military affairs, civil rights, foreign affairs and
the economy. Zinn also speaks upon the struggles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Howard Zinn shows his faith in the Middle Class. He believes that the middle classed people are the
ones who will begin change to the American system since they have just enough power to do so. The
poor cannot make any major changes since they do not have the capital or resources to do so. Zinn
mentions that he has faith in the people since they make up the 99% of America and when they do
fight for rights or social changes, the 1% or the rich will have a hard time fighting back. What gives
Zinn hope for the middle class leading the struggle for social and political change are many previous
and present struggles, which he talks about. He tells his readers about the middle class struggle with
many things such as being taxed greatly, their line of work, being lied to by the elites, and never being
able to have an impact or say on many subjects. This gives Zinn hope because history shows that the
middle class people are becoming vexed and will soon become extremely angry and with this anger,
the middle class will find a way to make a real change. Zinn explains how the middle class has
leverage over the so called system. Without them, the American system would not work, the middle
class gives the elites power while they are the ones to pay for the relief of the poor. The middle class is
the reason for the rich becoming richer, they are the ones in the workforce and they are the ones who
vote, making them valuable to the country. The upper classes have the power to dictate

Why I Want To Pursue A Juris Doctor Degree
Growing up in a provincial Russian town with its small population, unique spirit and picturesque
winding rivers, I yearned to learn and dreamed of foreign places where I could flourish. When I was a
child, my parents worked long hours while I engulfed myself in American movies and dreamed of the
possibilities that lay ahead. These movies showed me the freedom and opportunities that people of the
United States had. I dedicated myself to become proficient in English, I rented movies with subtitles
and signed up for a distant learning. Back then computers were not widely available and I anxiously
awaited my correspondence by mail. I frequently visited the post office to check if a letter with my
homework had arrived, it was like waiting to open ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today I am ready to take the next step and pursue the Juris Doctor degree. Law has always been an
interest of mine but it became more apparent when I had the fortune of meeting a brilliant attorney
who became my friend. He was not just an educator, advocate, and mentor; his actions changed many
lives. His generosity with pro bono services that defend the unprivileged community fascinated me.
My first time in a court room was watching him defending a young individual who was falsely
accused of absconding because a probation officer went to a wrong door. While being in detention his
mother passed away and he was not granted a furlough. The injustice I witnessed only furthered my
resolve to become an attorney. Sadly, my friend passed away recently but his actions inspired me to
advance more quickly to my goal. After researching multiple law schools, the faculty, resources,
clinics, and externships at Barry University School of Law fit best my educational needs. My plan
after law school is to focus on public interest and become an advocate for those whose voices are not
heard. I know that my determination and passion for the law will be an indispensable value to

When Calls The Heart Character Analysis
I know you can t say much about your role as Carson. Instead, what was your experience like joining
the cast of When Calls the Heart and getting to play this character?
Paul: Well the producer that does When Calls the Heart also did some of my other movies. I also
worked with Andrea [Brooks], who plays Nurse Carter. She was in a film that I did with Lacey
Chabert called A Wish for Christmas. So I worked with her and she was like you have to come work
on When Calls the Heart. I had heard of it because my girlfriend and my mom were watching it over
Christmas. I also knew that Janette Oke is from the same little town in Alberta, Canada called
Champion which is where my grandma and grandpa are from. And she actually knew them. So then

There s not much music from then and it s the weirdest thing. You realize that not even 100 years ago
their music was so limited. You can kind of hear familiar sounds as to where our music maybe has
come from. But also doing the research helps. Like when Carson says he worked the chuck wagons
for the railroad, looking back at what chuck wagons were, they were the food trucks of that time. So
looking back to see what that looked like and how the kitchen was setup on a chuck wagon is fun!
Playing a period piece is a whole different thing. You get to look at the history and see how things
used to be and I really like that!
And it s great getting to create the whole history and backstory for Carson. Very little of acting is just
knowing your lines. There s a lot of stuff before hand and all the other work that you do. It s all
imagination and play. Thanks to my girlfriend, who s an amazing actor, taught me a lot of new ways to
create a backlight for the history of this character.
I know you have also modeled and it wasn t until later in life that you fully committed to acting. So
what made you leave modeling and purse acting full

Pride And Prejudice By Jane Austin Essay
In reference to the novel Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austin, Austin targets several themes in
correlation to the early 19th century in England. Austin s central theme however, is love and marriage.
Trough love and marriage Austin is able to criticize social class, wealth, gender inequality, and
prejudice. In such matter, Austin believes happiness cannot be obtained by arrangement, force, nor any
type of exterior influences. So in respect to love, which leads to marriage, Austen s thoughts of mutual
attraction are the most important thing of a marriage. One who betrays his or her heart will never own
true love. True love is much more cherishing than money and social position. This is what Austen puts
a great deal of emphasis on. Intertwining themes, Austen s perception of happiness is traced off gender
injustices women suffered in 19th century English society; Austen jabs at the English society and
norms of that time period, by exploiting a female character; Elizabeth Bennet. Regaining focus on
Austen s thought about happiness, with respect to marriage or love; the authors position on such topic
is amplified via the characters pairings and doublings and as they shift through the course of the novel.
As we analyze the main characters in the novel, both Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy are the main
couplet in which experience significant development as the novel gallops along towards the ending.
Being the second oldest of the Bennet sisters, Elizabeth Bennet, is a

Social Expectations Of Marriage
Marriage is known to be a serious commitment by both the husband and wife in the past and to present
day. Therefore, it is believed that it comes with many responsibilities and expectations. They also feel
that to be married there are certain eligibilities. Before current society the husband expected for the
wife to be a stay at home mother and have all the house duties complete when he arrived home from
work. The expectations from the wife was that her husband would provide the income. Now, the
expectations are entirely different. They both are expected to provide for the family as well as help
with duties around the house. These modern expectations are concluded from many different reasons
and a main one recently is from viewing of social media or from seeing family relationships such as
parents or grandparents. The couple in the marriage then set their expectations so high that the
outcome is usually negative. Why are there so many expectations for marriage that people feel obliged
to have some sort of qualifications? While social media and impact from relative relationships can be
an influence to the expectations for a marriage the outcome may not appear to come out like desired
and much conflict between the couple can be expected. Present day beliefs are that enable to marry
there has to be goals met. Marriage is believed to come with many expectations of how a marriage
should be. The people begin to feel as there are certain things they have to do in order to begin

Arguments Against Police Brutality
On April 5th, 2018, a group of Palestinian protesters marched their way to the Gaza Israel border,
before being interrupted by a sudden eruption of gunfire and smoke. The Israeli army opened fire on
thousands of civilians, killing 18 and wounding many others. Israeli troops fight and kill the
inhabitants of their neighboring territory, those who are innocent civilians of their own country
(Jones). Tragedies like this happen nearly every month, in dozens of regions across the globe. Armed
forces brought upon residents in an effort to eradicate, disguised as control. Ranging from police

Lives will continue to be lost until treaties are established and international law is strengthened to
apply to each and every country. Activists and protesters deserve fair and just treatment, and officials
need to be monitored appropriately. The UN has officiated more than 560 treaties, and has an
International Court of Justice to carry out the enforcement of human rights (UN). Civil action must be
taken, and on a higher level than previous years. Growing discipline for all nations and setting the bar
higher for everyone will slowly but surely regulate behavior and settle international relations. In an
article from The Hindu, written by Nehginpao Kipgen, an ethnic cleansing is reported taking place in
Myanmar during 2017. The government felt they had the power to drive 700,000 Rohingya muslims
out of the country, and their actions were depicted as crimes against humanity by the UN (Kipgen).
The ultimate solution was brought upon by the United Nations security council, and scrutinized the
government by ordering them to resolve their wrongdoings and check their authority. This source
again shows how international organizations have the power to stop unjust fatalities and

Similarities And Difference Between Sudan And United Arab...
Having lived ten years in Sudan and six years in the United Arab Emirates, I have therefore developed
very strong concise opinions about both countries. Sudan being located in Africa and the United Arab
Emirates located in the Middle East share some similarities and difference which will be shown
through talking about each country s tradition, economy and architecture and rituals. I believe the
quality of living in the UAE is of higher standards, due to the advancements made in its infrastructure,
economy and education.
In Sudan there are around 114 languages being spoken there but the most dominant language being
Arabic. The official language spoken in the UAE is also Arabic. In Sudan it is usual to enquire about
one s family and health when meeting someone and shaking one s hand is usually sufficient with a
hug as for the UAE asalamu alaikom (peace be upon you) is said and is replied with wa alaikom
asalam ( and peace be upon you too). In the UAE locals exchange greetings by softly shaking hands
and touching rubbing their noses together.
Sudan is a country known for its kind, generous and hospitable people especially towards their guests
who visit their humble homes. The traditional clothing worn by Sudanese men is the jalabiya a long
loose fitting usually white colored worn with a taqiya which is a round cap. Traditional clothing for
Sudanese woman is a thawb which is a long garment wrapped around the body, a thawb comes in

Space Based Solar Power ( Sbsp )
Space Based Solar Power It is no secret that the earth is in need of a new sustainable source of energy.
There is a limited supply of fossil fuels on the planet, and the energy generating solutions that are
currently in action are only decelerating the rate of consumption of nonrenewable energy. The U.S.
Energy Information Administration predicts that the earth will run out of useable fossil fuels by 2088
if the current rates of consumption continue. A promising long term solution to this crisis is space
based solar power (SBSP). To attain SBSP, satellites are sent up in space to obtain direct and constant
solar energy, then laser technology beams the gathered energy down to earth where it can be
constantly and globally utilized. Space based solar power is not a new idea, the Department of Energy
first studied it in the 1970s, and NASA took another look in the 90s. The stumbling block has been
less the engineering challenge than the cost (Sofge). Funding for space based solar power is costly, but
not unreasonable. As the current energy on earth depletes and the urgency for a new sustainable source
grows, there must be greater steps made towards a solution. Space based solar power is a viable
solution to the world s looming need for a new energy source, but in order to make this idea a reality
more funding is needed. The challenge is one of perception, says John Mankins, president of the
Space Power Association and the leader of NASA s mid 1990s SBSP study.

Write An Essay On Influenza Virus
INTRODUCTION
T cells are part of the adaptive immunity that proliferate in the thymus, their protein antigen receptors
provide pathogen specific recognition
T cells binds via the viable regions of α and β chains to epitopes of fragments of antigens that are
presented on the surface of host cells in a host protein called an MHC (major histocompatibility
complex) molecule.
Helper T cells (CD4+) interact with antigen fragments of MHC 2 class molecules on the surface of
antigen presenting cells and when activated secrete cytokines that stimulate other lymphocytes.
Cycotoxic T cells (CD8+) bind to MHC 1 class on infected host cells and secrete proteins that initiate
destruction.
Memory T cells are long lived subpopulations of Helper and cytotoxic populations that increase

Therefore, Pizzola et al investigated the deposition, protection, and recall response of influenza virus
specific memory CD8+ T cells in the URT. These studies showed that influenza virus specific Trm
cells developed within the URT after intranasal influenza virus infection and rapidly cleared a
secondary heterosubtypic influenza infection from the nasal mucosa and, in doing so, prevented virus
spread into the lung.
The URT is a key region to limiting viral spread to the LRT and, therefore, in preventing the
development of viral pneumonia and severe disease. decay oflung Trm cells diminishes their potential
for long term protection against future infections²
Trm cells in the nasal tissue of the URT are not susceptible to the same erosion and can provide long
term protection against secondary influenza virus infections. Trm cells present within the URT could
also limit transmission of influenza virus from the upper to the lower airways. Hence, vaccination
strategies that deposit Trm cells within the URT could safeguard the TRT and provide longer lasting
protection against respiratory

The Importance Of Academic Delinquency
For several years, a steady thread within the juvenile justice literature has addressed low academic
attainment (Cottle, Lee, Heilbrun, 2001): educational failure, faculty disciplinary exclusion, and
dropout predict teens delinquency and crime; educational achievement is a buffer for juvenile crime
(Foley, 2001). even though results related to high faculty dropout encompass increased rates of
unemployment, substance abuse, and criminal pastime, only 15% of kids served by means of the
juvenile justice system graduate with a high school degree (Stanard, 2003). Conversely, academic
attainment is critical for eventual gainful employment, task pride, more social capital (Andres
Grayson, 2003), and decrease recidivism (Zgoba, Haugebrook, Jenkins, 2008). the overall trouble of
low educational achievement has many reasons, amongst that s the failure to understand when a
adolescents should qualify for special education status.
Low success and its connection to special training status isn t completely understood. A steady
concern in JJ settings, special training popularity isn t always a dependable indicator of delinquency.
The unique schooling rate for JJ populations, about 35% (Kvarfordt, Purcell, Shannon, 2005), is well
above the approximate 13% countrywide rate of special schooling service delivery in public faculties
(countrywide center for education statistics, 2010). while the average age of the adjudicated
adolescents is 15 years (about 9th 10th grade), the common studying level is 4th grade or decrease
(Vacca, 2008). educational skill level, and who does no longer qualify for or obtain appropriate special
training offerings, can be more crucial school primarily based indicators of delinquency threat than
special education status.
But, the individual student isn t the only subject; faculty environments with excessive retention, low
attendance, useless behavioral control, low instructor educational ability, and reactive and punitive
subject strategies are associated with academic failure, suspension, and dropout (Christle, Jolivette,
Nelson, 2005). In light of the massive literature base and consensus that academic failure and faculty
based risks promote negative outcomes, the paucity of statistics

result, baseball players earn $3 million per year. First, I think that s too expensive since they just throw

Advantages Of Living In A Small Town
Living In A Small Town Has Unique Challenges
From an outsider s perspective, living in a small town such as Agassiz seems like a pleasant and
relaxing place to live; you get to know everyone, everything you need is within walking distance from
your house, and it s relatively safer than the city. However, as someone who has lived in the town of
Agassiz her whole life, I have learned from firsthand experiences that small towns aren t as peaceful
as they seem. For example, the town has become too close knit. This is due to the low population of
students within the schools, mixed with the fact that a majority families have been here for several
generations. As a result, cliques develop; causing drama and spreading gossip. Consequently, there
just isn t any privacy in Agassiz. Moreover, the few businesses that Agassiz has are basically all the
same; overpriced convenience stores that never have what you need, and an alarming number of pizza
places for such a restricted space. An easy solution for the issues that Agassiz suffers from is
something that is already being implemented; expand the population by adding more housing and
unique businesses.
There are three schools in Agassiz; two elementary schools and a high school. As someone who
attended these schools, I noticed quickly that if your parents weren t close to the other parents and the
principal, it was hard to make friends or have your opinions catered to. This was most prominent in
the high school, where great deals of the students families are close to the principal. As a result of this,
they are often given a special treatment, meaning they get away with being bullies. I experienced
several times where a group of these kids bullied people until they switched to another school, because
the principal refused to help them out in any way. More personally, the principal wouldn t let me
switch out of a class to another class that I needed to take to get into my preferred university program,
which has made the transition into university even more stressful. Additionally, the school has an
extremely low population only 300 kids the year that I graduated that you get to know everybody,

The Mohammed And The Prophet
Also, in a longer hadith, the Prophet (pbuh) said that the salah (prayer) is a light, and charity is a

the Prophet (pbuh) said, None of you [truly] believes until he loves for his brother that which he loves

good, or keep silent; and let him who believes in Allah and the Last Day be generous to his neighbour;
and let him who believes in Allah and the Last Day be generous to his guest. In another hadith, a man
asked the Prophet (pbuh) for counsel and the Messenger (pbuh) answered several times by saying Do
not become angry. From 40 Hadith Nawawi 24, the Prophet is reported saying that God said, O My
servants! I have forbidden dhulm (oppression) for Myself, and I have made it forbidden amongst you,
so do not oppress one another. In another from Sahih Muslim, the Prophet (pbuh) said, Do not envy
one another, and do not inflate prices for one another, and do not hate one another, and do not turn
away from one another, and do not undercut one another in trade, but [rather] be slaves of Allah and

Tamba Performance Evaluation
I produced a mix of Summertime as performed by the band Tamba as part of the second module.
There were a number of issues during the recording, such as self noise from the right overhead
microphone, a substantial amount of bleed being picked up from each microphone, the balance of the
ensemble, in particular the relative lack of signal of the piano, and the harshness of the singers last
note. In order to keep my project in a logical order, I placed the vocals at the top of my arrangement,
and the drums at the bottom. I ensured that I colour coded each track according to the instrument, for
example each of the drum tracks were the same colour. I also sent each track through a bus, which

On these tracks, I set the makeup gain to approximately +5.0 dB in order to give certain instruments
more presence in the recording. There was also considerable distortion in the last note of the chorus,
so the use of the threshold of compressor also minimised this. A compressor diminishes the dynamic
range of a signal and allows you to increase the overall volume. There are six major components of a
compressor: the threshold, ratio, attack, release, gain and hard or soft knee. The threshold refers to the
level in which the compressor begins to act upon the signal, and the ratio is the amount that the
compressor affects the signal. The ratio is portrayed as a proportion such as 3:1, which means that if
the input level is 3 dB over the threshold, the output signal will be reduced to 1 dB. The highest ratio
is ∞:1, which is known as a limiter, which is also efficiently done at a ratio of 60:1. A limiter brings
any signal over the threshold to be brought done to the threshold level, with the exception of sudden
increases in the input loudness. The attack controls how soon the compressor kicks in, the release
controls how long the compressor continues affecting the signal after it has dropped back below the
threshold, and the gain allows you to adjust the level of the signal going out of the compressor. Hard
or soft knee are both angles of compression and its desired

immigration experience of the Germans and Irish shown through Ironweed, Maggie: A Girl of the
Streets, Hold Dear, As Always Jette, Immigrant Voices, and Second Fatherland displayed several
similarities and differences between each group s immigration experience. The Germans and Irish
similarly went through Americanization by living in communities made up of their own ethnic group.
Also, the role of women was similar in both communities; women took care of the children and
maintained the house. They both faced serious disease in both of their communities and were not
considered American until later on. However, there were many ways that the German

An Organelle That
1) Lysosome: An organelle that is enclosed in a membrane. It contains digestive enzymes that are able
to break down polymers such as nucleic acids, proteins, lipids and carbohydrates. They are shaped like
a dense sphere but vary in size depending on what material they have taken in to digest.
2) Microfilament: Microfilaments are narrow protein fibers within the cytoskeleton. They are made up
of two twisted proteins called actin; this is why they are also known as actin filaments. Their function
is to give the cell its shape and also aid in cellular movement.
3) Nuclear envelope: The nuclear envelope is a double lipid bilayer that borders the nucleolus and

8) Microtubules: Microtubules are different to microfilaments as they are much thicker and are made
up of a protein called tubulin. Microtubules and microfilaments form to make the cytoskeleton. But
they also aid in cell division, as they are a part of centrioles. This involves the separation of
chromosomes. They can also combine together to form cilia and flagella, these help the whole cell to
move.
9) Mitochondria: responsible for aerobic respiration where ATP is produced in the form of energy.
They have a double membrane where the inner membrane is folded into a cristae to maximise the
surface area and the inside is called the matrix where enzymes for aerobic respiration are found.
10) Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum: Smooth ER transports materials throughout the cell. It
synthesises lipids and carbohydrates and distributes these around the cell and also other parts in the
organism.
11) Cell membrane: Separates the intracellular components from the extracellular components.
Selectively permeable to ions and organic molecules, controlling the movement of substances in and
out of cells. It consists of a phospholipid bilayer imbedded with proteins. The membrane is found
inside the cell wall of plant cells and on the surface of animal cells. It also has receptor molecules
which allow it to respond to chemicals like hormones.

Goal Cash Management
)
The of goal cash management is to minimize the amount of cash the business must hold to conduct its
normal activities while having sufficient cash on hand to support operations (Gapenski, L. C., Reiter,
K. L., 2016, p 601). Short term investments may offer minimal returns but cash offers zero. The point
is to get the most return on funds and have only the minimum cash on hand.
Float is the difference between the balance sheet on a business s checkbook and the balance shown on
the bank s books (p 602). This difference is due to the delay in processing of the checks written or the
checks received. Receipt accelerations are processes to increase the speed of processing check
payments. Two examples are lockboxes and automated clearing houses (p 603). Lockboxes are
regional post office boxes where payments are sent and geographically processed to decrease delays in
transit. Lockboxes can increase the availability of funds by 1 3 days. Automated clearing house is a
communication network that send data from one bank to another. This allows immediate electronic
transfer of funds instead of paper checks (p 604).
Distribution control is controlling the outflow of cash. This control is limited by ethical issues in the
delay of payments and the potential loss of timely payment discounts. One method to control
distribution is a zero balance account. A zero balance account is a bank account have a zero balance.
Funds are transferred from a master account as needed to cover checks

Analyzing Erikson s Psychosocial Theories
Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Theory places everyone into stages, from the days where they still need
diapers and bottles, to the days where they can barely remember who they are. We all go through the
stages in life where we learn to walk, communicate, and trust. How easy we are influenced and how
we feel internally is what helps us understand how we are placed within these stages.
With me being 18 years old, I am placed into the Identity vs. Role Confusion stage. According to
David (2014), An adolescent must struggle to discover and find his or her own identity, while

Materialism In The Necklace And The Gift Of The Magi
We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give (Winston Churchill). While money
is necessary, an abundance isn t required to be happy. Attaining happiness comes through serving
others. The Necklace and The Gift of the Magi share a valuable lesson about materialism. However,
both stories have a different outlook. In The Necklace, Madame Loisel s materialism is selfishness. In
The Gift of The Magi, Della and Jim s materialism selflessness. The placing of value on materialistic
goods can end up positively or negatively impacting one s life. In The Necklace by Guy de

Scientific Management Report
Profit maximisation is the key aim of a private firm, and the desire to fulfil such interests through
potential improvements in efficiency, led to a number of organizational theories being developed in
the early 20th century. Scientific Management (Taylor 1911), otherwise known as Taylorism, was
advocated by Frederick Taylor, whose philosophy maintained that through the specialization of labour,
improving organization and the implementation of the results from experiments called Time and
Motion studies, maximum efficiency could be attained. Elton Mayo (1924), considered as the founder
of the Human Relations Movement, concluded that it is humans deep rooted aspirations to be valued
within a team and by management that actually has a greater influence on the productivity of
employees. On this basis, this essay will argue that because Human Relations takes into account the
social and informal factors of the workplace, it is more relevant to the modern business society.
When Taylor published The Principles of Scientific Management in 1911 he was the first theorist to
study organizational behaviour in depth. When working as a shop superintendent at the Midvale Steel
Company he noticed that workers used different and mostly inefficient work methods (Buchanan
Huczynski 2017,). Taylor (1919) stated that The principal objective of management should be to
secure maximum prosperity for the employer, coupled with the maximum prosperity for each
employee . From this, Taylor embarked

Sex Toys And Their Key Functional And Semiotic Components
This essay will give a detailed analysis of sex toys (for this essay the broad scope of sex toys will refer
to dildos (primarily), vibrators and variations of dildos including strap ons ) as an item of material
(consumer) culture through a historical and social analysis. The paper will discuss sex toys and their
key functional and semiotic components with reference to their cultural purpose, their popularity and
consumer interpretations and expectations. This essay will address social theory and the cultural work
of objects (in this case a sex toy) and will attempt to analyse and highlight issues related to the use and
interpretation of dildos.
A dildo is a phallic shaped object intended for bodily penetration during masturbation or sex with a
partner or multiple partners (dictionary.com, 2014). Early forms of dildos (made from stone, antler,
etc.) date back to the Upper Paleolithic period (Marshack, 1972) and 3rd Century Greece. Modern
style dildos began surfacing around the 19th Century (Deka, 2005; Fahs Swank, 2013) and were made
from rubber. The word dildo is loosely believed to derive from the Italian word diletto, which means
to delight (Fahs Swank, 2013; Statemaster.com, 2014). Dildos historically were used as a cure for
female hysteria (known today as sexual frustration) (Maines, 1998; Omori Slick, 2007; King, 2011;
Castleman, 2013; Fahs Swank, 2013) and other complaints. Dildos were originally marketed as a
medical aid in the 1880s, primarily available

Consequences Of Home Fire In Antigone
In Sophocles play Antigone a young girl is confronted with a difficult choice of obeying the law of the
land or fulfilling her filial duty. Her uncle has forbidden the burial of a traitor; the traitor happens to be
Antigone s brother who has declared war on his city. Antigone must decide: should she be compelled
by personal motives and bury her brother the punishment for which is death penalty or should she
obey the law and leave her brother s corpse to be feasted upon by vultures? Either of the choices is a
risk; both have consequences. And it is around this arithmetic of risks and consequences that Kamila
Shamsie s latest novel Home Fire , a modern day retelling of Sophocles Antigone, is built. In this
paper, I will analyze the risks taken by the four main characters, and the consequences they face, and
the factors that shape these risks and consequences.
Research Question
My research question is: Are the consequences of the risks taken different for the male and female
characters in Kamila Shamsie s Home Fire ? This novel, Kamila Shamsie s most critically acclaimed
to date, has been noted for its strong characterization. According to James Wood, New Yorker s chief
literary critic, and Professor of Practice of Literary Criticism at Harvard, the strongest characters in
fiction are the ones whose lacunae and omissions tease us, provoke us in unpredictable ways (Wood,
2008). The characters in this book take unpredictable, even capricious risks. But the kind of

She is actually a complex character which the filmmakers use to highlight various concepts of popular
and sociological culture. Firstly she is shown to be a woman who is judged by those around her
because of how she looks and how she has a knack for behaving erratically. She is even judged by the
women who she works with as they consider her nothing short of White Trash because of how she
dresses and because of the mess her personal life is in. Secondly, they construct the concept of an
individual s capability regardless of their gender and class through Erin s character. She does not have
formal training of being a lawyer yet she is able to understand the technicalities of law based on her
own intelligence and capabilities. Thirdly, they handle the struggle of proving yourself despite being a

professionally aware women occupied clerical and administrative support positions in the 1990 s ( We

specific timeframe on when they are wanting to hire because most sites charge by the month. The

is all a finished product from the pre application phase and senior leadership came up with on paper

Literary Style Of Mark Twain
Mark Twain was the first major American writer to be born away from the East Coast in the border
state of Missouri. His regional masterpieces were the memoir, Life on the Mississippi and the novels
Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Twain s style influenced by
journalism, wedded to the vernacular, direct and unadorned but also highly evocative and impudently
humorous changed the way Americans write their language. His characters speak like real people and
sound peculiarly American, using local dialects, newly invented words, and regional accents. Other
writers interested in regional differences and language were George W. Cable, Thomas Nelson Page,
Joel Chandler Harris, Mary Noailles Murfree (Charles Egbert Craddock), Sarah Orne Jewett, Mary E.
Wilkins Freeman, Henry Cuyler Bunner, and William Sydney Porter (O. Henry). A version of local
color regionalism that focused on minority experiences can be seen in the works of Charles W.
Chesnutt (African American), of Maria Ruiz de Burton, one of the earliest Mexican American
novelists to write in English, and in the Yiddish inflected works of Abraham Cohan. William Dean
Howells also represented the realist tradition through his novels, including The Rise of Silas Lap ham
and his work as editor of the Atlantic Monthly.

Stonehenge Vs. Easter Island

and monuments of the world. Stonehenge is outside of Salisbury, England and is consists of lots of
grass and giant, grey stones. This site was made between the times of 1520 B.C.E 3000 B.C.E. There
are many reasons why people think Stonehenge was built. Stonehenge was built it using precise stages
of construction. Archaeologists said it could have been used for rituals, traditions or even used as a
burial site. Easter Island, itself is off the coast of Chile. The Easter Island statues or Moai as called on
the Island are big black rocks with long slim faces. The statues seemed to have been used in many
different ways such as rituals, worshipping and traditions. While the Easter Island statues were used
for worshipping and were carved and then moved, Stonehenge may have been used as a burial site or
for ritualistic traditions and was made in different stages in one place. Stonehenge is complex yet,
simple place. The name Stonehenge comes from the name Stonehengen meaning stone hanging or

Feeling Shook It is time, at last, to speak the truth about fear mongering in the news, and the truth is

How Assumptions of Consensus Undermine Decision Making

before they get the true in depth details. This more often than not leads them to making false

asserts a falsehood. At the end of the day these false assumptions lead us to looking stopid in the end

He removed his helmet and his gloves. Then he took off his watch. Before flying he always took off
his wedding ring because there was a danger it could catch on rivets or switches ... Now he removed

NAVAIR In Peace And War

either preserve our territories or deter enemies at all costs. Naval air power piggy backed off of Alfred
T. Mahan s theories and strategies, and eventually composed three naval air power operations that
seize, maintain, and exercise command of the sea/air (Rubel 64). Whether these operations are through
long distance missile attacks, bombardments, or even land based amphibious attacks with the Marine
Corps, NAVAIR has developed technology that allows the United States to be the world s most

Two hits emerged from this album Evil and Keep Your Head to the Sky. Open Our Eyes became EWF s first platinum album. The message in the music was clearly a reflection of Maurice White s vision for the group. Maurice states, From the very start, I had a commitment to be different in terms of music and what was projected on stage. Coming out of a period of social confusion in the seventies, I wanted Earth, Wind Fire to reflect the growing search for greater self understanding, greater freedom from restrictions we placed on ourselves in terms of individual potential. • 4. Cleisthenes As An Opportunist Cleisthenes was the Athenian politician setting the stage of democracy around c.520 BC and to c.400 BC. An opportunist is defined by Oxford dictionaries as: A person who takes advantage of opportunities as and when they arise, regardless of planning or principle . For many, this sums up the rule of Cleisthenes as he took advantage of the anti tyrannical movement and of the power he was given to improve the position of himself and his Alcmaeonid family. However, this essay will argue that although Cleisthenes did take advantage of opportunities, he was ultimately very principled in nature and was actually a reactionist. This is to say that he reacted to problems and events that occurred and dealt with them the best he could, rather than taking advantage of the opportunity to better himself, the elite classes or his family. To many, Cleisthenes was simply an opportunist. One way he can be said to be opportunistic is during his rise to power. This idea has stemmed from the ancient Greek author Herodotus, and in parts Aristotle as well. On the whole, these are two ancient authors with semi opposing views, with Herodotus being a stronger source for stating Cleisthenes was an opportunist. The main reason most historians believe that Cleisthenes was an opportunist is because of the account from Herodotus histories. The account is as follows: these two [Isagoras and Cleisthenes] were rivals for power, and Cleisthenes, who was getting the worst of it, took the people into his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He believes that the middle classed people are the ones who will begin change to the American system since they have just enough power to do so. The poor cannot make any major changes since they do not have the capital or resources to do so. Zinn mentions that he has faith in the people since they make up the 99% of America and when they do fight for rights or social changes, the 1% or the rich will have a hard time fighting back. What gives Zinn hope for the middle class leading the struggle for social and political change are many previous and present struggles, which he talks about. He tells his readers about the middle class struggle with many things such as being taxed greatly, their line of work, being lied to by the elites, and never being able to have an impact or say on many subjects. This gives Zinn hope because history shows that the middle class people are becoming vexed and will soon become extremely angry and with this anger, the middle class will find a way to make a real change. Zinn explains how the middle class has leverage over the so called system. Without them, the American system would not work, the middle class gives the elites power while they are the ones to pay for the relief of the poor. The middle class is the reason for the rich becoming richer, they are the ones in the workforce and they are the ones who vote, making them valuable to the country. Why I Want To Pursue A Juris Doctor Degree Growing up in a provincial Russian town with its small population, unique spirit and picturesque winding rivers, I yearned to learn and dreamed of foreign places where I could flourish. When I was a child, my parents worked long hours while I engulfed myself in American movies and dreamed of the possibilities that lay ahead. These movies showed me the freedom and opportunities that people of the United States had. I dedicated myself to become proficient in English, I rented movies with subtitles and signed up for a distant learning. Today I am ready to take the next step and pursue the Juris Doctor degree. Law has always been an interest of mine but it became more apparent when I had the fortune of meeting a brilliant attorney who became my friend. He was not just an educator, advocate, and mentor; his actions changed many lives. His generosity with pro bono services that defend the unprivileged community fascinated me. My first time in a court room was watching him defending a young individual who was falsely accused of absconding because a probation officer went to a wrong door. While being in detention his mother passed away and he was not granted a furlough. The injustice I witnessed only furthered my resolve to become an attorney. Sadly, my friend passed away recently but his actions inspired me to advance more quickly to my goal. After researching multiple law schools, the faculty, resources, clinics, and externships at Barry University School of Law fit best my educational needs. • 8. Pride And Prejudice By Jane Austin Essay In reference to the novel Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austin, Austin targets several themes in correlation to the early 19th century in England. Austin s central theme however, is love and marriage. Trough love and marriage Austin is able to criticize social class, wealth, gender inequality, and prejudice. In such matter, Austin believes happiness cannot be obtained by arrangement, force, nor any type of exterior influences. So in respect to love, which leads to marriage, Austen s thoughts of mutual attraction are the most important thing of a marriage. One who betrays his or her heart will never own true love. True love is much more cherishing than money and social position. This is what Austen puts a great deal of emphasis on. Intertwining themes, Austen s perception of happiness is traced off gender injustices women suffered in 19th century English society; Austen jabs at the English society and norms of that time period, by exploiting a female character; Elizabeth Bennet. Regaining focus on Austen s thought about happiness, with respect to marriage or love; the authors position on such topic is amplified via the characters pairings and doublings and as they shift through the course of the novel. Having lived ten years in Sudan and six years in the United Arab Emirates, I have therefore developed very strong concise opinions about both countries. Sudan being located in Africa and the United Arab Emirates located in the Middle East share some similarities and difference which will be shown through talking about each country s tradition, economy and architecture and rituals. I believe the quality of living in the UAE is of higher standards, due to the advancements made in its infrastructure, economy and education. In Sudan there are around 114 languages being spoken there but the most dominant language being Arabic. The official language spoken in the UAE is also Arabic. In Sudan it is usual to enquire about one s family and health when meeting someone and shaking one s hand is usually sufficient with a hug as for the UAE asalamu alaikom (peace be upon you) is said and is replied with wa alaikom asalam ( and peace be upon you too). In the UAE locals exchange greetings by softly shaking hands and touching rubbing their noses together. • 12. Space Based Solar Power ( Sbsp ) Space Based Solar Power It is no secret that the earth is in need of a new sustainable source of energy. There is a limited supply of fossil fuels on the planet, and the energy generating solutions that are currently in action are only decelerating the rate of consumption of nonrenewable energy. The U.S. Energy Information Administration predicts that the earth will run out of useable fossil fuels by 2088 if the current rates of consumption continue. A promising long term solution to this crisis is space based solar power (SBSP). To attain SBSP, satellites are sent up in space to obtain direct and constant solar energy, then laser technology beams the gathered energy down to earth where it can be constantly and globally utilized. Space based solar power is not a new idea, the Department of Energy first studied it in the 1970s, and NASA took another look in the 90s. The stumbling block has been less the engineering challenge than the cost (Sofge). Funding for space based solar power is costly, but not unreasonable. As the current energy on earth depletes and the urgency for a new sustainable source grows, there must be greater steps made towards a solution. Space based solar power is a viable solution to the world s looming need for a new energy source, but in order to make this idea a reality more funding is needed. The challenge is one of perception, says John Mankins, president of the Space Power Association and the leader of NASA s mid 1990s SBSP study. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. The Importance Of Academic Delinquency For several years, a steady thread within the juvenile justice literature has addressed low academic attainment (Cottle, Lee, Heilbrun, 2001): educational failure, faculty disciplinary exclusion, and dropout predict teens delinquency and crime; educational achievement is a buffer for juvenile crime (Foley, 2001). even though results related to high faculty dropout encompass increased rates of unemployment, substance abuse, and criminal pastime, only 15% of kids served by means of the juvenile justice system graduate with a high school degree (Stanard, 2003). Conversely, academic attainment is critical for eventual gainful employment, task pride, more social capital (Andres Grayson, 2003), and decrease recidivism (Zgoba, Haugebrook, Jenkins, 2008). the overall trouble of low educational achievement has many reasons, amongst that s the failure to understand when a adolescents should qualify for special education status. Low success and its connection to special training status isn t completely understood. A steady concern in JJ settings, special training popularity isn t always a dependable indicator of delinquency. The unique schooling rate for JJ populations, about 35% (Kvarfordt, Purcell, Shannon, 2005), is well above the approximate 13% countrywide rate of special schooling service delivery in public faculties (countrywide center for education statistics, 2010). while the average age of the adjudicated adolescents is 15 years (about 9th 10th grade), the common studying level is 4th grade or decrease (Vacca, 2008). educational skill level, and who does no longer qualify for or obtain appropriate special training offerings, can be more crucial school primarily based indicators of delinquency threat than special education status. But, the individual student isn t the only subject; faculty environments with excessive retention, low attendance, useless behavioral control, low instructor educational ability, and reactive and punitive subject strategies are associated with academic failure, suspension, and dropout (Christle, Jolivette, Nelson, 2005). Advantages Of Living In A Small Town Living In A Small Town Has Unique Challenges From an outsider s perspective, living in a small town such as Agassiz seems like a pleasant and relaxing place to live; you get to know everyone, everything you need is within walking distance from your house, and it s relatively safer than the city. However, as someone who has lived in the town of Agassiz her whole life, I have learned from firsthand experiences that small towns aren t as peaceful as they seem. For example, the town has become too close knit. This is due to the low population of students within the schools, mixed with the fact that a majority families have been here for several generations. As a result, cliques develop; causing drama and spreading gossip. Consequently, there just isn t any privacy in Agassiz. Moreover, the few businesses that Agassiz has are basically all the same; overpriced convenience stores that never have what you need, and an alarming number of pizza places for such a restricted space. An easy solution for the issues that Agassiz suffers from is something that is already being implemented; expand the population by adding more housing and unique businesses. There are three schools in Agassiz; two elementary schools and a high school. As someone who attended these schools, I noticed quickly that if your parents weren t close to the other parents and the principal, it was hard to make friends or have your opinions catered to. This was most prominent in the high school, where great deals of the students families are close to the principal. As a result of this, they are often given a special treatment, meaning they get away with being bullies. I experienced several times where a group of these kids bullied people until they switched to another school, because the principal refused to help them out in any way. More personally, the principal wouldn t let me switch out of a class to another class that I needed to take to get into my preferred university program, which has made the transition into university even more stressful. There was also considerable distortion in the last note of the chorus, so the use of the threshold of compressor also minimised this. A compressor diminishes the dynamic range of a signal and allows you to increase the overall volume. There are six major components of a compressor: the threshold, ratio, attack, release, gain and hard or soft knee. The threshold refers to the level in which the compressor begins to act upon the signal, and the ratio is the amount that the compressor affects the signal. The ratio is portrayed as a proportion such as 3:1, which means that if the input level is 3 dB over the threshold, the output signal will be reduced to 1 dB. The highest ratio is ∞:1, which is known as a limiter, which is also efficiently done at a ratio of 60:1. A limiter brings any signal over the threshold to be brought done to the threshold level, with the exception of sudden increases in the input loudness. The attack controls how soon the compressor kicks in, the release controls how long the compressor continues affecting the signal after it has dropped back below the threshold, and the gain allows you to adjust the level of the signal going out of the compressor. While money is necessary, an abundance isn t required to be happy. Attaining happiness comes through serving others. The Necklace and The Gift of the Magi share a valuable lesson about materialism. However, both stories have a different outlook. In The Necklace, Madame Loisel s materialism is selfishness. In The Gift of The Magi, Della and Jim s materialism selflessness. • 27. Scientific Management Report Profit maximisation is the key aim of a private firm, and the desire to fulfil such interests through potential improvements in efficiency, led to a number of organizational theories being developed in the early 20th century. Scientific Management (Taylor 1911), otherwise known as Taylorism, was advocated by Frederick Taylor, whose philosophy maintained that through the specialization of labour, improving organization and the implementation of the results from experiments called Time and Motion studies, maximum efficiency could be attained. Elton Mayo (1924), considered as the founder of the Human Relations Movement, concluded that it is humans deep rooted aspirations to be valued within a team and by management that actually has a greater influence on the productivity of employees. On this basis, this essay will argue that because Human Relations takes into account the social and informal factors of the workplace, it is more relevant to the modern business society. When Taylor published The Principles of Scientific Management in 1911 he was the first theorist to study organizational behaviour in depth. When working as a shop superintendent at the Midvale Steel Company he noticed that workers used different and mostly inefficient work methods (Buchanan Huczynski 2017,). Taylor (1919) stated that The principal objective of management should be to secure maximum prosperity for the employer, coupled with the maximum prosperity for each employee . • 29. Sex Toys And Their Key Functional And Semiotic Components This essay will give a detailed analysis of sex toys (for this essay the broad scope of sex toys will refer to dildos (primarily), vibrators and variations of dildos including strap ons ) as an item of material (consumer) culture through a historical and social analysis. The paper will discuss sex toys and their key functional and semiotic components with reference to their cultural purpose, their popularity and consumer interpretations and expectations. This essay will address social theory and the cultural work of objects (in this case a sex toy) and will attempt to analyse and highlight issues related to the use and interpretation of dildos. A dildo is a phallic shaped object intended for bodily penetration during masturbation or sex with a partner or multiple partners (dictionary.com, 2014). Early forms of dildos (made from stone, antler, etc.) date back to the Upper Paleolithic period (Marshack, 1972) and 3rd Century Greece. Modern style dildos began surfacing around the 19th Century (Deka, 2005; Fahs Swank, 2013) and were made from rubber. The word dildo is loosely believed to derive from the Italian word diletto, which means to delight (Fahs Swank, 2013; Statemaster.com, 2014). Dildos historically were used as a cure for female hysteria (known today as sexual frustration) (Maines, 1998; Omori Slick, 2007; King, 2011; Castleman, 2013; Fahs Swank, 2013) and other complaints. • 35. Literary Style Of Mark Twain Mark Twain was the first major American writer to be born away from the East Coast in the border state of Missouri. His regional masterpieces were the memoir, Life on the Mississippi and the novels Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Twain s style influenced by journalism, wedded to the vernacular, direct and unadorned but also highly evocative and impudently humorous changed the way Americans write their language. His characters speak like real people and sound peculiarly American, using local dialects, newly invented words, and regional accents. Other writers interested in regional differences and language were George W. Cable, Thomas Nelson Page, Joel Chandler Harris, Mary Noailles Murfree (Charles Egbert Craddock), Sarah Orne Jewett, Mary E. Wilkins Freeman, Henry Cuyler Bunner, and William Sydney Porter (O.
