2. Juvenile Delinquency Is Participation Of Illegal Behavior...
Juvenile Delinquency is participation of illegal behavior by minors. Although it is no single path to
juvenile delinquency, the presence of several risk factors often increases a youth s chance of
offending. Risk factors have been defined as those characteristics, variables, or hazards that, if present
for a given individual, make it more likely that this individual, rather than someone selected from the
general population, will develop a disorder(May 2014). Risk factors predict an increased probability
of later offending but it is true that certain protective factors may work to offset risk factors. To
determine this, an assessment is given to the juvenile. This risk assessment will configure the type of
intervention that will best suit the individual youth needs in order to decrease their risk of offending.
The top three key social factors that contribute to juvenile delinquency in the 21st Century are family,
peers, and community. In this paper I will focus on the different aspects of each top key social factor
and the affects it will have on the juvenile. Family is the biggest influence for early on set juvenile
delinquency risk factors, primarily affecting children 6 11 years of age (Shader). Children learn basic
concepts about good and bad from their family; they make their values and set the norm for society.
Majority of the adolescents who show delinquent behaviors at an early age in any form come from
families that could not give firm foundations to the children.

3. The, National Museum Of African Art
On October 9, 2015 I went to the Smithsonian, National Museum of African Art along with attending
the Million Man March down in Washington D.C. The experiences were wonderful and I was very
excited to be at both events. While at the museum I took two tours one at 10 am that was led by a
woman named Nkechi Obi. She talked about docent African Arts. The next one was shortly after at11
am that was led by a teen ambassador named Nicholas Stewart, who was very intelligent. He talked
about numerous pieces throughout the museum that had some significance to younger minds so I
found that very helpful. After the tour I spent some time down at the mall in DC in which faced the
Capitol. This was the Million Man March that was a very popular event that brought out many people.
I would describe both events as lectures that were powerful and time put to good use. The reason I
chose to go to the African Art Museum is because I have been there before and I enjoy my time when I
go. The tours at the museum consisted of talks about certain pieces in the museum that fell in a
category the tourist wanted to focus on. Nkechi Obi was my first tour guide and the title of her tour
was Docent African Arts . Her goal throughout the tour was to show pieces of artwork that showed
what Africans may have gone through in the past in slavery. One piece that she focused on that I want
to highlight was Southern Landscape by Walter Williams Roots. In this piece there various things
going on in the photo.

4. Cell Phones Are Ordinary Today
Cell phones are ordinary today. Very nearly everybody has one. My grandma conveys an iPhone and
my dad a man who once swore he d never convey a telephone with him anyplace slaps a Samsung
Galaxy S III with an OtterBox case on his hip each morning. It wasn t generally so. I was the main
individual at my secondary school educators and organization included with a cell phone. To start
with, I had the Moto Q, then the BlackBerry Pearl 8130, trailed by the Curve 8330. Furthermore, that
is the place my story started, in 2006, taking lesson notes (read: playing Brick Breaker and Asteroids)
on an incredible QWERTY console about a large portion of the palm s extent of my hand. Trust it or
not, cell phone history backtracks over 10 years before that. Things were ... intriguing in those days. In
the first place, what is a cell phone? Turns out, the real definition, regardless of the source, is very
ambiguous. Merriam Webster compactly calls a cell phone a PDA that incorporates extra
programming capacities (as email or an Internet program). Oxford Dictionaries, then again, gets
somewhat more exact by saying a cell phone has the capacity perform a hefty portion of the elements
of a PC, commonly having a moderately expansive screen and a working framework equipped for
running universally useful applications. In any case, there is an almost negligible difference between
what is and isn t a cell phone nowadays, regardless of the fact that the purported moronic or

5. Examples Of Ruth In Social Work
Christy Barzona
Social Work Practice 01
March 21, 2017 Preliminaries:
1. Knowledge
a) Migrant Worker Ruth was a born into the migrant work, she would have most likely been a migrant
worker her whole life; if she did not get close to the crew leader . Being a migrant worker was not
easy for Ruth. She had poor working conditions, and bad pay. She was determined to get herself out of
this working environment.
b) Mental/physical abuse Ruth s father and mother both struggled with alcohol abuse and often took it
out on Ruth. Her mother often urged her to do things she was not comfortable with: including
marriage. Her mother often referred to her as strange and different from the rest of them. Because,
Ruth was not one who would fall into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
lastly, another concern would be her love and belonging. Which in your hierarchy of needs is
classified as friendship, family and sexual intimacy. Ruth has very little to none of all those. She cut
ties with her family, has no close friends and no significant other.
4. Strengths
4a. Courage Ruth Showed a huge amount of courage by cutting out the negativity in her life, and not
breaking down to get married when she didn t want to get married. She didn t fall under the peer
pressure of her family.
4b. Possibility Ruth shows possibility in furthering her working career. She knew that she didn t want
to be just a simple migrant worker in the field. She got close to the crew leader, who is now teaching
her to run shifts at the gas station, and take control of the management duties.
Planning
1. Ruth needs someone who can empathize with her who will let her talk about her feelings without
judgement. Ruth needs someone who can be there to listen, someone to have a connection with. I will
allow her to realize who she was, and how successful she actually was, even though she does not see it
in herself right now.

Responsive Reading Assignment Sociology 101
The purpose of this essay is to discuss the key ideas presented in the two articles written by Poata
Smith (2004) and Richard Pringle (2007) and to explore how these key ideas link to the central themes
and discourses introduced throughout the duration of the course so far. In sight of the word limitations,
this essay will attempt to cover fewer key ideas highlighted within these texts, but in much more
detail. Some key ideas addressed in this essay include neo liberalism, class inequalities, biculturalism,
and in part two hegemonic masculinities, gender order and negative male identities. At the conclusion
of this discussion, I will take the opportunity to reflect on my personal engagement with the two texts.
Evan Poata Smith (2004) Maori Protest Politics and the Waitangi Settlement Process
In his article, Poata Smith (2004) acknowledges that the Crown alongside the New Zealand
Government, although not responsible for the actions of its predecessors, has taken steps to accept its
obligations to the Treaty of Waitangi and to the Maori people and to recognise breaches of the treaty
principles that it has made (p.59). The New Zealand Government, in its attempt to settle past treaty
grievances surrounding wrongful confiscation of land has divided Maori society in two: a division
between the Maori working class and the smaller Maori elite. Through neo liberal reforms to the
Treaty of Waitangi settlement process, highly represented

Southeastern Europe also knows as the cradle of western civilization. Greece
Is not just a history infused country, but also culturally rich place.
I first learned about Greece in my theatre class , Theatre originated in Greece in 534 bc . Its
fascinating how a cultural ritual transformed into a well studied form of art . Theatre for the Greeks
started through religion. The Greeks held several plays to worship the gods in order to ask them for a
favor in return .The Greek culture had many Gods, all served a different purpose. Its fascinating how

While the military argued against the .276 caliber, Garand s .276 caliber design was recommended for

On February 25, 1932, the Army Chief of Staff, General Douglas MacArthur, put an end to the caliber
issue, stating quot;this change will introduce an element of chaos, confusion and uncertainty which,
when magnified under war conditions, would more than counteract the beneficial effect of any semi
automatic rifle. quot; With this statement, MacArthur ordered the development of a .30 caliber rifle.
This did not delay Garand s work because he had already developed a design to fire the .30 caliber on
his own time in anticipation of such an event. Two more years would pass before the rifle was adopted
as the United States Rifle, M1 on January 9, 1936. The United States became the first country in
history to adopt a semi automatic rifle as its standard military rifle after this event. Problems beset the
M1 as it was first being issued. They occurred in the area where expanding gases of the fired bullets
were tapped from the barrel to operate the rifle and the rifle suffered stoppages after firing only seven
of the eight rounds in its clip.
The M1 s early performance problems gave it such a bad reputation that after the 1939 National
Matches, the National Rifle Association was able to get Congress to look at the problem. A major
redesign was ordered on October 26, 1939 and Garand redesigned the rifle to operate with gases

9. Lamentations 1-3 Poem
In Lamentations 1 3, The whole metropolis of Judah was destroyed and the people who were not
murdered were captured and made slaves in Babylon. The people who survived the destruction of
Judah suffered immensely with no rest due to their new lives of hard servitude. This was believed to
have happened because rulers or kings had mistreated the children of Israel.
It is often necessary to express intense feelings when facing a tragedy, or in order to face a tragedy.
Sometimes fears may clearly be recognized as such and confronted openly but other times an outlet is
needed in order to release negative emotions, this supports the fact that Lamentations 1 3 and Psalm
137 are both written in the form of poetry (Cook, 44). In extent, to express their fear of imminent

In Lamentations 1 3, Judah is expressed in the text as she and the description of the destruction was
similar to that of a rape scene . In extent, Because the destruction of Judah was extremely treacherous
and the opposers had no right to enter the land of Judah let alone ravage it, the metaphorical
comparison to rape was one that was made to express immense grief. Lament Psalms is also poetry,
one significant underlying theme was that Babylon will suffer what it forced on others. In
continuance, the mere act of writing out the pain and suffering of the entrapped, in a way, allowed the
people of Judah to become closer to their god. They now contained within them the capacity to
remember that the One who gave and cherished life would be there to protect and console them

For the paramecium to move forward, its cilia beat on an angle, backward in unison. The paramecium
moves by spiraling through the water. For the paramecium to move backward, the cilia beat forward
on an angle at the same time. If the paramecium runs into a solid object, the cilia changes its direction
and beats forward, which makes the paramecium go backward. The paramecium turns slightly and
goes forward again. If it runs into the solid object again it will do the same thing until it can get past

The mechanisms of these changes are because of the different water chemistry of the solutions.
4. Based on your results discuss the effects of environment on type of motion in Parameci
The type of effect the dryl solution had on the motion of the paramecium was that they kept moving
forward. They averaged an avoidance frequency of 1.6minutes, and they were moving at a pretty fast
speed. The duration of the movement (forward) was 8.8 minutes out of the 10 minutes I was observing

The type of effect the barium solution had on the motion of the paramecium was that they didn t move

frequency of 1.6. The duration of the movement was 11.7 (I watched the paramecium for 15 minutes
for this test because I forgot to start my timer at the beginning.)
The type of effect the sodium solution had on the motion of the paramecium was that they only moved
forward for half the time, the other half of the time they were in a jerking motion and a paranoid
motion as well. Their avoidance frequency was 4.8, which is much higher than the dryl solution and
the barium solution. They were still moving at a pretty fast speed like the other solutions but they

is the arbitrary freezing of accounts. An account can become frozen fast whenever there is an
indication of any type of fraud. In this case, it implies that there is a possibility of PayPal suffering
immense losses if no risk assessment and mitigation is performed in a timely manner.
Freezing the accounts should not be the only solution to fraudulent concerns. On the other hand,
freezing accounts gives them time to conduct investigations on potential troubles and correct fraud in
the name of protecting the buyer. PayPal s buyers and sellers have legal protection under the
Consumer Credit Act which provides them with protection regardless of what type of transaction is

I call this practice reflexive embodied empathy .
To define and explicate this concept, I start by exploring some of the literature on empathy. There is an
extensive empirical literature on empathy in the fields of neuroscience (see Thompson, 2001) and
social psychology (see Davis, 1994). However, I confine my discussion here to the equally extensive
(though sometimes overlooked) literature from phenomenology. Here, I draw on a range of theoretical
ideas but the philosophical ideas of Husserl (1928/1989) on intersubjectivity and of Merleau Ponty
(1964/1968) on embodiment as intertwining are particularly influential. While the focus in this
literature review is on empathy, concepts related to embodiment and reflexivity are integral.
The literature review is followed by an analysis of the concept of reflexive embodied empathy in
practice. I use three examples of significant moments from various hermeneutic phenomenological
research projects to demonstrate reflexive analysis of my own embodied, intersubjective relationships
with participants. I characterize these moments of reflective involvement with the data as fluid,
interpermeating layers whereby different dimensions of experience are called to the fore. Three co
existing layers of reflexivity are described: connecting of the Other s embodiment to our own acting

stubbornly, my mind is made up. Not another step will I budge on this errand. What if a wretched old
woman do choose to go to the devil, when I thought she was going to Heaven! Is that any reason why
I should quit my dear Faith, and go after her? Faith! shouted Goodman Brown, in a voice of agony and
desperation; and the echoes of the forest mocked him, crying Faith! Faith! as if bewildered wretches
were seeking her, all through the wilderness. And when Goodman thinks that he has lost his Faith to
the devil, he despairs: My Faith is gone! cried he, after one stupefied moment. There is no good on
earth; and sin is but a name. Come, devil! for to thee is this world given. And maddened with despair,
so that he laughed loud and long, did Goodman Brown grasp his staff and set forth again, at such a
rate, that he seemed to fly along the forest path, rather than to walk or run. At the very climax of the
tale the protagonist does not think about himself, even though he feels that his wife has gone to the
devil; rather Goodman persists in trying

21. How Did Rousseau Influence The Relationship Between The...
Eighteenth century philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau influenced many French revolutionaries with
his ideas. In the time of the Enlightenment, people believed that humankind could progress and
improve through the use of reason and science. One of them was French artist Jacques Louis David,
who was official artist to the French revolution (p158, Blk 3). Just as Rousseau had used his
publications to reflect on his ideas, David had used art as a media to reflect the ideas and values of the
society in the eighteenth century. In this essay, we will be examining the influence of Rousseau s
views on the relationship between the state and the individual in David s painting The Oath of the
Horatii .

(p105, Blk 3). As the particular will is a product of appetite and the general will a product of reason,
we should obey the general will which makes us noble and good. Rousseau argues that when a man
acts on his particular will, he is slavish to his appetite and that makes him a stupid, limited animal.
Whereas, when he adopts the general will, he is being an ennobled, intelligent being. In the painting,
the brothers offer their lives on behalf of the country. In doing so, they are sacrificing their personal
desires for the sake of their country and are thus considered heroes, reflecting Rousseau s views.
This painting is divided into three equal parts by the arches in the background and the characters
correspond to each of these arches (TV12). The father is in the middle portion of the painting. The
lines of perspective created by the tiled floor, draws our attention to the swords that the father is
holding and the vanishing point lies just behind the handles of the sword. Our angle of vision is such
that we are looking directly at the main figures groups, particularly the father. A single light source
from the left of the picture illuminates the characters and also focuses our attention to the father
holding the sword. This creates a theatrical effect. The background is simple and stark so our attention
is focussed on the figure groups in the painting. The painting has a wide tonal range that makes the
composition logical and balanced. The colours used in this

It is a soldier s personal responsibility to keep all his or her items accountable at all times. This
ensures that the Army mission will be completed and that the soldier will remain prepared at all times.
On a daily basis, thousands of Soldiers are seen at appointments varying anywhere from surgery on
better eye sight to putting a broken foot into a cast for 6 weeks to heal. Appointments can be located
anywhere on or off post depending on the type of appointment or preference of the Soldier. It is every
Soldier s right to choose where they would like to receive health care services. The Army spends
Billions of dollars on medical supplies, medications, the latest and newest high tech equipment, and
the healthcare facilities and the healthcare providers. When a Soldier misses an appointment, the Army
s money is then wasted. Money that could have been used on something such as new trucks, weapons
and equipment. With budget cuts on funds within the ranks, missing an appointment is money the
Army could use elsewhere. Of all the complications for military funding due to budget cuts, missing
an appointment should not factor into it at all. Budget cuts have influenced the Chain of Command
and their decisions on requiring Soldiers to pay out of pocket for their missed appointment. The
government was starting to discuss having Soldiers pay out of pocket for their missed appointments.

For this study, each group had the same dienophile, N methylmaleimide, but different dienes,
anthracene 9 methanol or anthracene 9 carboxaldehyde. Initial reaction conducted with anthracene 9
methanol and N methylmaleimide was successful in generating a generous amount of product;
however, due to errors performed during the purification method by recrystallization, some product
was lost, thereby resulting in a low yield. Upon completion of the reaction, the Diels Alder adduct was
subjected to analysis by NMR spectroscopy, specifically, Proton NMR. The percent yield of this
reaction was expected to be high, however, the reaction yielded a percent yield of 4.88%, which is
significantly low. Typically, a low percent yield is an indication of an inefficient reaction; however, in
this case, this cannot be concluded due to errors that occurred during the reaction. Theoretically,
dienophiles and dienes can have different electron donating and electron withdrawing substituents,
thereby changing either can impact the percent yield of the reaction. An electron donating substituents
on the diene will increase the percent yield as the chances of the reaction occurring is increased with
the increase in the number of electron donating groups. The Reverse is true for dienophiles, as an

A physical change is one that affects only the physical properties of a substance, while a chemical
change alters a substance at the molecular level.
Physical Properties: A property that can be observed or measured without changing the chemical
identity of the substance.
Physical properties can be categorized as either intensive or extensive.
Reactivity:
An element or compound s reactivity is its ability or capacity to react, or bond, with another
substance. As you continue through this course, you will observe and compare this particular chemical
property in a variety of scenarios.

One type of chemical reaction, called combustion, involves the burning of various compounds and
elements. Some substances are more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most decomposition reactions require energy, usually in the form of heat or electricity, to be added in
order for the reaction to occur.
In a decomposition reaction, a single compound undergoes a reaction that produces more than one
product. The following general equation illustrates decomposition reactions:
AB → A + B
AB is a compound made of two or more elements. A and B are individual elements or compounds.
Types of Decomposition Reactions: Binary compound, metal carbonate, metal chlorate, metal
hydroxide, oxyacids
In a combustion reaction, a compound or element reacts with oxygen, releasing a large amount of
energy in the form of light and heat.
they are exothermic, which means that energy is released by the reaction.
Many combustion reactions involve the burning of organic compounds called hydrocarbons,
compounds containing the elements carbon and hydrogen, or other organic compounds. When a
hydrocarbon is burned completely, the products of the combustion reaction are usually carbon dioxide
and water. Natural gas, propane, and wood all burn to produce carbon dioxide and water as the
products.
Not all combustion reactions involve organic compounds made of carbon and hydrogen (nonorganic
compounds), which means that the products are not always

31. Trans Fat Research Paper
The infamous trans fatty acids, or trans fats are in the news once again. The Food and Drug
Administration recently banned these all from manufactured foods and gave all manufacturing
companies three years to accomplish this goal.
This is a definite win for the health of Americans, because trans fats have been proven to raise bad
cholesterol, known as LDL, and lower good cholesterol, known as HDL. These are the factors that
contribute to the risk of developing heart disease, as well as Type 2 diabetes.

These trans fats are made when hydrogen is added to a liquid oil molecule, turning the liquid oil into a
solid. Trans fats are very inexpensive to make, but are very unnatural and bad for our health.
CHECK FOOD LABELS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE
The people who take their health and diet into consideration tend to check the food labels and go with
products that say 0 grams of trans fat per serving . However this doesn t mean that there s zero grams
of trans fat in the product. Manufacturing companies that produce food containing less than .5 grams
of trans fat can and do round that number down to zero to advertise that it has zero grams of trans fat.
ABOUT TWO GRAMS OF TRANS FATS PER DAY IS FINE
If you would like to avoid trans fats altogether, then the American Heart Association suggest that if
your diet is based on the 2,000 daily model, that you should have less than two grams of trans fats per
day. To make sure that you are aware of the amount of trans fats that you are eating, you can read the

Although the industry is beneficial from a life cycle assessment point of view, over the years it has
gravitated toward countries with low labor costs, weak regulations on occupational safety, and limited
environmental enforcement. The global shift in the industry to countries with comparatively weaker
regulatory systems is of particular concern as ships contain many hazards that can have significant
detrimental effects on humans and the environment if not dealt with properly.
Currently, the global center of the ship breaking and recycling industry is located in South Asia,
specifically Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan. These three countries account for 70 80 percent of the
international market for ship breaking of ocean going vessels, with China and Turkey accounting for
