Reflection On Anthem By Ayn Rand
While reading this book I was deeply concerned with the totalitarian government they had in place. It
reminded me a lot of the book Anthem by Ayn Rand where they also lived in a very oppressive
government but to the point that they were not allowed to say the word I and they were all given their
job in society. Throughout the whole novel, I questioned how Mae was okay with working for The
Circle. I would never be okay with wearing anything that made me fully transparent to anyone and let
them see what I was doing at all times. I would not really care if there were SeeChange cameras up
around Auburn because I think they could maybe make campus even safer. We already have traffic
cameras in place that you can view on the internet whenever you

Childhood Abuse And Child Abuse
Child abuse is a topic that not many feel comfortable discussing. It goes to reason then, that the abuse
one has faced during their childhood is a topic that is also rarely discussed. When a person brings up
the situations in which they had been abused as a child, many people will uncomfortably change the
subject while giving their condolences. However, childhood abuse can greatly affect future of the
adults who have suffered it. Abuse is defined by the Oxford Dictionary (2017) as: cruel and violent
treatment of a person or animal. There are three main types of abuse: physical abuse which involves
physically harming, psychological abuse which involves verbal abuse (threats, insults, refusal to
communicate, etc.) and an array of other acts, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Child Welfare Information Gateway, 2017) This does not account for the countless children who
faced multiple types of abuse or the hundreds of incidents that were not recorded.
Because of this abuse, those children are now at risk for mental health issues as adults. Multiple
sources conclude that childhood psychological abuse is one of the causes for adult mental illnesses
such as: anxiety in its many forms, depression, dissociative disorders, PTSD, and suicidal thoughts or
actions. (Elish, 2006; Health Direct, 2017; Hunter, 2014) Along with these mental illnesses, adults
with a past of psychological abuse are also at risk to become overly critical of themselves, have low
self esteem, and to develop an eating disorder such as bulimia, anorexia, or obesity. These illnesses
could go undiagnosed or they could be recognized by those who suffer them and treated. Undiagnosed
mental illnesses have the power to wreak havoc on the person suffering and those close to him or her.
When paired with one another, these issues make a deadly cocktail.
There is also an array of physical illnesses that adults can experience as a direct or indirect result of
psychological abuse. These adults may find that they develop insomnia, migraines, stomach ulcers,
indigestion, and other health issues that occur as a result of substance abuse problems and sexually
risky behaviors because of the abuse they faced as a child or adolescent.

Wahoo Software Case
Facts
Wahoo Software, Inc. is a computer company specializing in communications software and related
products for healthcare, fire and rescue and the military. Sales have grown from $12 million to $75
million in 2015 and the headcount has increased from 25 initial employees to 150. The company is
undertaking a Research Development project to update and add new features to these projects and to
place them all on a single platform. This work may possibly qualify for the research and
experimentation income tax credit.
Issue
What are the requirements to qualify for the Research Experimentation tax credit? What are the
different tax treatments for Research Experimentation expenses? Would a tax credit provide a benefit
for the company, now ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
because the credit amount will directly reduce Wahoo s tax liability. Credits are better than deductions
because tax deductions decrease the tax liability indirectly. Tax credits cannot be used when a
company has a loss, however now that Wahoo is profitable it would very novice not to take advantage
of them.
After doing much research, there is no specific documentation that is required in order to substantiate
the tax credit in accordance with the Internal Revenue Code. However, for Wahoo s best interest it
would be wise to keep documentation of all research and experimentation expenditures as proof.
Conclusion
Wahoo Software, Inc. research and development will qualify under Section 38 of the Internal Revenue
Code as an allowed research and experimentation credit. The company can elect the standard
treatment of this credit, elect the alternative incremental credit, or elect the alternative simplified
credit. Taking advantage of the Research Experimentation credit is highly recommended now that the
company is profitable because it will directly decrease taxable income. Although not legally required,
I suggest that the company maintain record/documentation of all research experimentation expenses as

The Movie Crash By Paul Higgins
In the film, Crash by Paul Higgins there is the incorporation of numerous perspectives and theories of
societal issues. The film brought up various issues we face in our world today such as racial
discrimination, stereotyping, and prejudice etc. One theory that is seen is the symbolic interaction
theory. There is the usage of different symbols in the film. Each character in the film comes from a
different culture; socioeconomic background etc. and they each have their own story. There are many
hidden messages in the film through the usage of symbols. The title of the film is Crash which can be
interpreted in many different ways. In the beginning of the film, I believed the title to just speak about
car collisions or accidents, but throughout the film you re able to see collisions between diverse ethnic
groups and socioeconomic status. There are also many different vehicles used in the films, which
could also be a symbol representing class and wealth. Ludacris s character named Anthony stated, You
don t have any idea why they put great big windows on buses, one reason only, to humiliate the people
of color riding on them. () In Anthony s perspective, riding a bus meant that you re poor and or part of
the minority population. At the end of the film when he actually rode a bus it allowed him to see that
he was wrong. Anthony saw individuals from different cultures and statuses and understood he was
wrong about his pre judgments. A vehicle used by the two wealthier

Reasons For The French Revolution
There were many causes that led to the French Revolution. Class, money, and philosophes were three
major factors that contributed to the French Revolution. The most important cause was money. These
factors resulted in Louis The Sixteenth and Marie Antoinette being executed, and the reign of
Napoleon to begin.
Class conflicts are a huge component of the French Revolution. The French Revolution began as a
result of the lack of the people s happiness over how they were told to live their lives. There were
three estates. The first estate being the clergy, the second estate being the nobility, and the third estate
being the bourgeoisie (commoners). The first and second estate consisted of very few people, but was
given most of the money, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the first and second estate voted that the bourgeoisie should pay all the taxes, the bourgeoisies was
outvoted and was forced to keep paying all of the taxes. The nobility and clergy were very greedy,
especially the clergy. Their morals were supposed to be more focused on the word of god, instead of
being focused on the material aspects of life on Earth. The clergy was supposed to be kind and helpful,
instead of selfish. Since the clergy was greedy, it lead France to be in even more debt and have more
conflicts. There were many privileges only given to the upper classes, which made it unfair. At the
beginning of the French Revolution, the bourgeoisie became very fed up with the inequalities within
the classes. To deal with the inequalities, the estates decided to gather in the tennis courts and take an
oath called the Tennis court Oath. The Tennis court Oath stated that they would not leave until a new
constitution was created. In the end, a new constitution was created and a new form of government
was put into place. The new government was called the national assembly. The national assembly
lasted from 1789 1799 but was then abolished as it upset many people in France because the priorities
of the National Assemblies decisions did not meet the people s needs.
Money was also a major factor to the French Revolution. Once Louis The Sixteenth and Marie
Antoinette became absolute monarchs in 1774, they lavishly spent money. The couple

Hermine Santrouschitz Essay
Hermine Santrouschitz was born on February 15, 1909 in Vienna, Austria. She suffered from lack of
nutrition at a young age during World War I and was sent away to Amsterdam, Holland. She was taken
in by the Nieuwenhuises, and they nursed her back to health. By the time she was healthy again, she
did not wish to return to Vienna to be reunited with her blood relatives, so she lived on with her
adoptive family. However, she remained an Austrian citizen.
Later in life, she became independent and found work at Travies Company, which specialized in
products for the homemakers. There she learned that her boss, Mr. Otto Frank, had moved to Holland
from Germany because he was a Jew and had to escape from the Nazis. Meip [Hermine] and Mr.

Unfortunately, two years after the Franks had gone into hiding, they were discovered by the Nazis and

concentration camp. The Gies, however, were spared. The fact that she was born in Vienna was an
advantage. Miep lived in fear that the others would die in the camps and never return. Miep gathered
up Anne s diary, hid it in the bottom drawer of her desk at work.
One day, while Miep was cooking dinner, Henk came home and told her, It s over! Miep and Henk
later found out that Mr. Otto Frank was the only person who survived the concentration camp. Miep
returned Anne s diary to him, and The Diary of Anne Frank was published. It took Miep a long time to
gather the courage to read the book and when she finally did, she was happy she had. Five years later,
Miep had a baby boy named Paul. He is still alive today. Miep died on January 11, 2010, following

The State of the Federal Budget
What is the current state of the Federal Budget? According to Shultz (2002), individuals and
businesses fund the Federal Government through personal income and payroll taxes. With the
unemployment rate at 8.1% as of January 1st, 2014 (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2014), created an
overall shortage in both individual and business taxes. Segal (2010) points out that America has not
had a balanced budget since 2001. In 2008 the US national debt held by foreign holdings was at 48%,
while the public debt was at $5,461 billion (Segal, 2010; National priorities org, 2014). The national
debt last reported was on October 2013 and had reached 17 trillion dollars, the same amount as the
debt ceiling (National priorities Project, 2013). How might the state of the budget impact the problem
that your bill is addressing, and impact the likelihood of passage of the specific bill you are
examining? Incorporate the material on the budget from the Segal text, Chapter 9 and Schultz text,
Chapter 3, in your discussion about the relationship between the budget and the issue you are focusing
on. H. R. 2604 looks to place money back into the federal budget while protecting family unity.

I. Problem Definition
1) Background Information In South Korea, social demand for normalization of public education and
the burden of private education expenses has been constantly demanding for decades. Recently,
government enacted the 「Special Act on the Promotion of Normalization of Public Education and
Regulation of Prior Education」. Education policies such as normalization of public education have
been promoted for a long time. The major reason for the enactment of such a regulatory law is that
Korean society is intensifying competition in education system with the overheated educational
passion of the older generation. Such an indiscriminate competition in education has led to the
expansion of private tutoring to the extent of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2) Solutions
a. Problem solving through improvement of the public education system To prevent prior learning, it
is need to increase public school hours. Currently, public education in Korea lacks absolute study time
in school compared to OECD advanced countries. Expanding the current after school system to
increase elementary school education time gradually reduces the amount of time spent on private
education and attracts students into the public education framework. It is the purpose of gradual
eradication of private education prior learning by changing the structure of the current public
education system.
b. To solve problems by supplementing the bill Any law must be supplemented at the beginning of
enforcement. Excessive regulation at unnecessary levels should be relaxed and establish standards
such as penalty clauses that are effective. The current law is not effective because the punishment
clause is weak and the subject of accusation is unclear. The introduction of a reward system will be a
viable solution to this.
c. Solve problems through changes in educational climate Educational climate is a very important
factor in education. Korea traditionally acknowledged the authority of the teacher and gave it many
powers. However, the current educational climate is such that teachers are not allowed to take
responsibility without permission. Efforts to reduce the number of students per teacher and excessive

Advantages Of Soda Blasting
Soda blasting is similar to sandblasting in that both are forms of abrasive blasting. Instead of sand,
soda blasting uses bicarbonate of soda (baking soda). Soda blasting was developed in the 1980s as a
method for cleaning the interior and exterior of the Statue of Liberty. Baking soda is ideal for gentle
cleaning without causing damage. Unlike other abrasive media, soda blasting does not cause objects to
warp due to the heat generated by the process. It eliminates the mess and hazard that comes with using
chemical strippers along with the time consuming and labor intensive nature of hand sanding. What
makes soda blasting better than other forms of abrasive blasting? Soda blasting restores metal surfaces

Even with the blackened surfaces removed, the smell would remain. Soda blasting allows for the
burned surfaces to be stripped down to bare wood with no damage to exposed wiring or plumbing. As
an added benefit, the baking soda blasting media absorbs any odors. Removing Mold The most widely
used methods for removing mold from the interiors of buildings call for the use of wet vacuuming
equipment. Not only is this an expensive solution, it is labor intensive in addition to requiring the use
of harsh chemicals. Furthermore, this approach to mold remediation requires moisture. Moisture is the
main factor in mold growth. Soda blasting can be used to remove mold from any surface, including
porous ones like wood. It does so without any harm to wiring, plumbing or fixtures. It is also
beneficial for removing moisture and odor. Removing Graffiti The easiest solution for getting rid of
graffiti is simply to paint over it; however, this is not always possible or desirable. The other solutions
include abrasive blasting but silica and other media can cause damage to the surfaces being treated.
Graffiti may be removed with chemicals, but this method tends to be messy and the chemicals

Revolutionary War Revolutionary Essay
By defining a revolution as a radical change of conditions , the Revolutionary War was unquestionably
a revolution. In determining whether the Revolutionary War was revolutionary or not, one must assess
the extent to which society transformed before, throughout, and after the war. Although some colonists
sought to preserve the rights they enjoyed from tradition and custom, the Revolutionary War can be
described as revolutionary because men put their life as well as their honor on the line to fight in a war
when triumph seemed an unreachable goal. This was done to make radical changes such as
formulating an entirely new system of government instead of creating a monarchy, as they had known.
In the First Continental Congress, which occurred ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When people are over three thousand miles away from each other, representation can be difficult.
When America first separated itself from Britain, the founding fathers attempted to create the least
amount of similarities as possible. The need to be different from Britain was shown primarily through
the creation of the Articles of Confederation as they represented a strong reaction against the strong
central government of Britain. The Continental Congress adopted the Articles on November 15, 1777
and they served as the United States first Constitution. There were many problems that came with the
Articles. The government they created was so weak that tasks could not be completed efficiently.
Because of the weak government, America could not grow economically which led to political
uncertainty. The government had no power to enforce any legislation it passed and congress was
denied the power to tax. Money was one of the greatest issues with the Articles of Confederation.
Since the government was denied the right to tax, they could only request money from the states and
these requests were often denied. The legislature never had enough money to run the government or to
fulfill financial obligations to bondholders, soldiers, and

Eugenics, A New Science Of Heredity
Eugenics, a new science of heredity was first introduced in 1883, brought about to address the
budding fears and threats to the purity and fitness of the British race. A fear brought upon by events
such as the Boer War in 1899, forced Britain to question the spectrum of degeneracy within the
population and resolve the issue of bringing the British and White race back to strength, unified and
fit. Sir Francis Galton defined eugenics as the study of agencies under social control that may improve
or impair the racial qualities of future generations either physically or mentally . It was believed that
differences in mental, moral and physical traits between individuals, as well as races were hereditary,
producing those who were deemed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
University Students. At this time, America provided a clear example of how race greatly impacted on
the eugenics movement. The United States came across a lot more racialist than Britain; the key racial
targets being the American Negro and various portions of white races emigrating from Eastern
Europe. In a much more patriotic and chauvinistic country this threatened to overwhelm the superior
white race, forcing the development of new immigration and sterilisation laws.
Britain was just as supportive in believing in the dominant White race, however was never as extreme
in it racialism. British Society was ethnically more or less homogenous and therefore it had not
experienced the considerable amount of non white emigrating people than it did in later decades. . The
movement in Britain was marked by variations on existing racial themes, instead of new
compositions. Racism figured a lot less distinctly and was of less importance to British Eugenics,
identifying the new science as primarily class based, focusing more on the biological fitness of the
different classes. Consequently, one could argue that race wasn t awfully important to the movement,
but race figured much more markedly to the eugenics movement in other countries such as the United

They generally preferred stylish, funky, and usually colourful products and identified quality as an
unimportant factor when it comes to making a purchase decision. These respondents requested to be
interviewed together, which proved to be favourable since it made them more comfortable and
allowed for more thorough responses.
The second interview (Please see Appendix G) consisted of one individual, also of 16 years of age,
who was a Canadian high school student. She resided in Cote St Luc. Like the previous interviewees,
she also described herself as being price conscious since her purchases are paid with her own money.
Unlike the other 16 years old respondents however, quality was of higher importance for her when it
came to shopping for clothes. She was also generally looking for trendy and fashion forward clothing
when she shopped.
The third interview (Please see Appendix H) was held with two Montréal teachers, one of 33 years old
and the other of 38 years old. Both were mothers; while the former had one child, the latter had four.
Both women had preferences for classic clothing that is slightly trendy, and both wanted good quality
for good prices. They also tended to look for sales and convenience when shopping was of very high
importance for them.

Reflection About Reading And Writing
It was my second grade year, I was only 7 years old, when I first found my hatred of anything that had
to do with reading or writing. Every week my teacher would give us a lengthy list of vocabulary
words that we had to memorize before our spelling test the following week. I would study for periods
at a time trying to memorize this gruesome lists of words, that I could never commemorate. When it
came down to the day of the test I would see all my classmates at ease, while I would panic trying to
remember what I studied. When it finally became time to take the test, I heard the teacher call the
word island , but I couldn t concentrate. I was frustrated, I couldn t think, the teacher would ask is
everyone ready to move on , but I wouldn t say anything, because I was too shy. After a couple of days
I would get my score back, and wasn t surprised when I found out that I had failed the test. Weekley
this was recurring theme when I got my spelling test returned. Eventually, I accepted the fact that
reading and writing was not for me. Although my second grade experience was terrible, my third
grade year gave me an experience that I never had with literacy. My teacher Mrs. Quinn, would give
us a list of vocabulary words, but instead of us memorizing them, we would have to create a story
using these words. This opened my eyes to a component of literacy that I never explored. I had total
creative freedom, something that I wasn t familiar with. The first set of words, was over

The World Trade Center Memorial
World Trade Center Memorial The World Trade Center Memorial commemorates the September 11,
2001,attacks and the bombing that occurred at the World Trade Center in 1993. The memorial can be
found at the former location of the Twin Towers in New York. These fountains that rest in the
footprints of the towers are a powerful reminders of our nations history and all the lives that were lost
that day. This memorial is ultimately successful because it evokes emotion, whether that be sadness or
possibly a feeling of serenity or stillness. The memorial was commissioned by Lower Manhattan

I don t care if Peter is described as this or that, he says. It s my design. The announcement of Michael
Arad s design winning the competition was the start of controversy for this memorial. Daniel
Libeskind was furious that he won because Arad s design completely destroyed the vision he had for
the space. I will fight this! he yelled during his first meeting about it with the LMDC. I am the people
s architect! Daniel want the slurry wall to be present in the memorial and have the whole site set
below the main street. Arad felt that this would disconnect the memorial from the life of the city. His
opinion won and the slurry wall can still be viewed below the memorial in the museum. That was only
the beginning of conflict between architects in this process of construction. Many victims groups
hated Arad s design as well. They hated the fact that fountains when underground instead of rising into
the sky. The feeling of absence made them uncomfortable. The idea of absence is common in counter
memorials. How can someone depict the incomprehensible events with a comprehensive memorial? A
primary solution to the problem has been the formalized absence given by deconstructivism. I think
the use of absences is what gives this memorial strength. 9/11 was a major day in our nation s history,
therefore it should have an immense memorial. The reflecting pool mark the footprints of the north

Structural Functionalism, Conflict Theory, And Symbolic...
This response addresses question four and define the provided theories, which include structural
functionalism, conflict theory, and symbolic interactionism. In doing so, various components of the
theories are identified in relation to the topic of social change. In doing so, it is important to point out
that in sociology, theories are used to explain the patterns, the way groups of people decide to perform
specific actions, and the way societies do certain things or rather experience a change in a different
manner. On the other hand, social change implies the growth and development of a social order, which
bears some significant consequences.
To begin with, structural functionalism looks at the society as a bundle of a complex system with
different parts that work to support the whole. It stipulates that a society is a combination of
interrelated components, which work independently, but seek to achieve a common goal, which
supports the growth of the whole system. Some of the systems in the society include the government,
schools, businesses, and families. In essence, all these different components are fundamental in the
society as they serve different functions to develop the society. On the other hand, social conflict
theory looks at the society as a system with equal components, but within the endeavors to grow to
find themselves in conflicting paths. Thinking about the society, some of the trends lead to conflict
among the people living together. For example, ageism,

Juvenile Crime Theories
Although juvenile crime tends to go unrecognized, it is a major issue in America and happens to go
unrecognized. There once was a time when society did not place emphasis on the special needs of
juveniles. In most cases children were taking on adult roles to help their families survived, which
caused them to struggle with identifying themselves in society. They were also subject to the same
consequences that adults received when they did something that was considered morally wrong,
forcing them to grow up before their time. There are multiple theories that are used when considering
the consequences for an adult offender. However, I personally feel that we should not use the same
theories for juvenile crime unless the crime committed is a Mala In Se Crime, which is considered
wrong and inherently evil immoral.Studies have shown that our brains continue to develop into our
twenties, which confirms that the thought process that a child and an adult goes through is completely
different. A juvenile is not mentally of physically developed enough to handle the severe
consequences that an adult can. Just because someone makes ... Show more content on

The End of Rhino Poaching 414 Everyday more and more rhinos die from poaching. Did you know
that every 11 hours one rhino dies from poachers? How will we end rhino poaching? Now people are
using drones to stop poachers. There is an increasing demand for rhino horns. Everyday we lose more
and more rhinos for their horns. In 2012, 668 rhinos died for their horns. Then again, in 2013 by half
the year 350 rhinos had already been lost to poachers. Once, a rhino reserve in South Africa lost 13

How will drones catch the poachers? The drones are hand launched so there is no need for a big
runway. Also, the drones are only 12 pounds. Drones also have a six mile range camera. The drones
computer calculates a hot spot for poaching and watches it from the sky. Next, if the drone sees a
poacher then it sends an alert to notify the game wardens. When the game wardens see the alert they
rush down to the poaching sight and try to catch the poachers before they attack. The drones film a
video of the scene including the weather, if there was a sun or moon, when it happened and where.
The drones film this to show the trends/patterns of poachers. Drone technology can be very different.
For example, they can have different features. Thomas Smith and team at the University of Maryland
have tested out drones to stop poachers. In the last six months Smith s team had arrested a lot of
poachers with not one single gunshot. Their drones have infrared cameras and the camera sends live

On A Rainy River Summary
In our society, we all long for a feeling of acceptance by our peers and we detest the feeling of being
left on the outside. The opinions of our peers have an impact our decisions. The short story, On a
Rainy River by Tim O brien elaborates the idea that the approval of our communities is often put upon
a higher pedestal than our own personal beliefs and values. This idea is portrayed through the different
pressures that the main character encountered: his family, his town and his country. Fresh out of
university, Tim was forced to make one of the biggest decisions of his life. He was drafted to war, but
did he was against serving in the war and he did not want to go to war. Tim was at a crossroads

Agriculture and Regionalism Geographers frequently use environmental determinism, the belief that
environment directly affects human social growth, to help explain how, where, and why human
populations and cultures evolve; the idea is that our physical environment directly affects the way our
culture grows. Paul Vidal de la Blanche was one of the first modern geographers to take interest in the
different regions of his native country of France. He focused on how different regions in France
created different cultures based on food and climate. His work was important in helping to shape how
important climate is in the creation of regions. He discussed briefly how environmental differences

Challenges Children Face that Need to Be Addressed
Children in our communities are exposed to many challenges that need to be addressed by teachers
and adults in order to keep a healthy environment that promotes their development. Parents need to be
aware of children s different temperaments to make socialization easier and to improve friendships
and understanding. Teachers need to be aware of the developmental practices to ensure the physical,
cognitive, emotional, and social development of children. Also, they need to be aware of the risk
factors that affect their school performance and their life to help them overcome their problems. The
two children with a very different temperament that I am going to describe are Maria and Jose. After
observing how they behave and act in different situations, I was able to know each of their
temperaments. For example, Maria fears strangers, gets frustrated very easily and most of the time is
fussy and moody. According to Roberta M. Berns, Maria s temperament is categorized as difficult
(Berns, 2013, p. 11). Socialization is rough at home and at school for this child. Therefore, the kind of
classroom and teaching style that could foster goodness of fit will be an environment with a lot of
space for her to do many activities that require energy and that help her with her frustration. It is
important to allow her to make some choices. As an educator, it is important for me to remember to

Behavioral And Emotional Aspect Of Human Thinking
approach deals with the behavioral and emotional aspect of human thinking. Humans are complex
there is no single way to help them stop the behavior. REBT assumes a persons problems come from
their mistaken cognitions, which they have perceived. Which have lead to over or under reactions, this
behavior becomes habitual and the person creates a dysfunctional pattern. The pattern enables them to
continue to repeat the poor behavior, although they know it is unhealthly. In addition REBT, we label
our reactions either consciouly or unconsciouly, therefore if we feel depressed, anxious or fearful it is
because we have convinced ourselves and validate our emotional reaction. One major tenet of REBT
is external events do not determine a persons feelings, a persons individuals beliefs about the event
determine if the person has a problem or not. Thus, we are not upset about an event in our particular
life, what makes us upset is our interpretation of the event.
Intervention
The REBT framwork of Albert Ellis (1962) operates as one ot the most straightforward and well
known models for explaining the connection between events, thoughts, beliefs, cognitions, emotions,
and behaviors (Field, Beeson, Jones, 2015, p. 207)REBT has two competing models, one (classic)
assumes dysfuncational negative feeling (anxiety, depressed, anger), differ from corresponsing feeling

Vygotsky To Assist Rad In Learning
A basic concept of Vygotsky s socio cultural theory is its claim that the human mind is the go between
and plays a significant role for what he calls tools‟ in humans‟ understanding of the world and
themselves (Cole.1978). Vygotsky defends the theory that people do not act directly on the physical
world without the intermediary of tools. Vygotsky describes cognitive development first occurs in a
social context amongst people as inter and within the individual, as intra. Thus meaning, according to

The Government Of Hong Kong Essay
There have been several solutions informed to the government of Hong Kong to encourage green
features such as communal gardens, sunshades and reflectors, wind catchers and noise barriers. (Lo,
2005). The need for green architecture is expanded within this book, justifying the demand in adopting
sustainability within high density cities. Energy efficient designs and renewable energy sources in
buildings have become a world trend in striving for a sustainable future. (Lo, 2005) The inevitable
growing capacity of population and urbanization leads to perceiving high density cities as a problem.
However the sustainability integration will help reduce the energy usage, diminish the use of fossil
fuels and develop new ways to designing architecture.

Do buildings and cities, in the way they are currently built, contribute to green economy and growth?
(Aboulnaga, 2014) The book illustrates how sustainability enhances architecture in the long term, but
also seeks for solutions such as renewable energy, and promoting energy efficient buildings. There are
features to classifying a sustainable building, such as site and surroundings, energy efficiency,
renewable energy use, water consumption, materials etc.

What Is Folkloric Like Epic Hero
The role and cultural description of what would be call a folkloric like epic hero didn t change for

Batman, Spiderman, Superman, or even the Hulk are just echoes of what would be recognized as
folkloric like epic heroes. Basically, a hero that is pictured as a larger than life character, who fights
the forces of evil, usually pictured as a vicious, cruel, villain or gruesome fiend.
Accordingly, the story of Beowulf is a classic example of such, including a clear folkloric epic hero
which is Beowulf, who fights forces of evil, presented as Grendel, his mother, and a fire breathing
dragon. Moreover, Beowulf express an expansive deal of heroic traits; for example: his bravery and
boldness, yet baffling fairness in his decisions before his first encounter with Grendel that can be seen
in this excerpt from the poem:

In the story, Faulkner depicts Emily as a woman who suffers from several from several years of
heartbreak and despair. Ranging from the emotional abuse of her father, to the rejection of her lover,
Homer Barron. As far as her character, Emily s appearance resembles a small, fat woman in black
whose skeleton was small and spare (Beers and Odell 721). Faulkner also describes her as bloated,
like a body long submerged in motionless water and her eyes looked like a lump of coal pressed into
dough (Beers and Odell 721). These character qualities symbolize Miss Emily s personality as well as
her physical appearance. Emily s personality presents as tiresome, and bitter because of the damage
she inflicts in her lifetime. Moreover, when the contemporary officials of the town visit Emily, she
lectures to the new leadership that she has no taxes in Jefferson and finally insists on their dismissal
by her house servant, Tobe (Beers and Odell 721). Emily s impolite behavior traces back to her
personality and the devastation it ensues over the years. Furthermore, Jack Sherting argues that
Faulkner, through his narrator, is obviously describing a psychotic personality; accordingly, Faulkner
depicts Emily as a character that has extreme mental health issues through character qualities.
To conclude, the exhibition of modernism effectively shapes William Faulkner s story, A Rose for
Emily, through the usage

The Importance Of Maintaining The Correct Acid Base Balance
The importance of maintain the correct acid base balance in the body is crucial for a healthy lifestyle.
Human bodies are very sensitive to pH levels and must be maintained to prevent any health issues.
The term pH means potentials oh hydrogen. To function properly our blood pH is regulated at 7.4. The
degree of acidity or alkalinity is referred to as the acid base balance. The acidity levels increase when
the acidic compounds in the blood increase of the alkaline compounds in the blood fall. Alkalinity
increases when the reverse occurs. The levels of alkaline and acidic compounds depend on the body s
intake, production or decreased elimination or vice versa. If the pH rises or falls increasingly the body
s proteins and enzymes can denature and stop functioning. This can cause serious diseases such as
cancers or even death. Therefore, our body has essential mechanisms in place to regulate the pH of our
blood.
Regulating acid base balance:
The main functions of the body that deal with maintaining acid base balance are the buffer, renal and
respiratory systems.
Buffer System:
Normal metabolism produces hydrogen in the form of acids; to maintain the pH of the blood the acids
are buffered or removed from the body. A buffer works in a pair, a weak acid is activated when the pH
is at risk from a strong base/ a weak base is activated when the pH is at risk from a strong acid.
Whenever the buffer reaction is carried out the concentration of one of the pairs increases while the

The Theory Of Culture As A Disability
Culture has the power to disable an individual. Once a person is unable to complete a certain task or is
unable to handle a difficult problem, society labels them as disabled. The theory of culture as a
disability focuses on the fact that disability is not always directly related to the individual, but rather
the dominant culture in power. Ideals are created by the dominant culture and if an individual, or an
entire race, does not meet those standards, then they are labeled as disabled and different. Throughout
the years, African American students have been significantly over represented in special education,

Before 1975, children with disabilities were mostly denied an education solely on the basis of their

Court cases, mandated all school districts to educate students with disabilities. Today, we know this
law as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
In the 1998 99 school year, 1,111,650 African American children served in special education programs

East Timor Assignment
Term 4 Economics Essay Jack Stickley East Timor is a country surrounded by a picturesque and
untouched landscape that has inhabited people for centuries. In today s society however, East Timor
has been economically left behind in comparison to other western world super powers. As the country
attempts to rebuild its national identity following their separation from the Indonesia regime, certain
obstacles threaten to stop their progress to become a developed nation. Least Developed Countries
(LDC s) can be commonly categorized by their lack of infrastructure and residential development, and
visibly through the contrast to well developed countries of the Western world. The United Nations use
the following criteria to identify LDC s. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the world gripped by oil shortage The Timor Sea Treaty, which is split 90% to 10% in favour of
Timor, will be useful in the development of the country. Accessing income is currently difficult for
workers and therefore they don t have the capacity to invest or save what they do earn, but income can
be earned and received through providing services and withholding this income from third parties that
may interfere. East Timor is in desperate need of foreign dollars. A dependence on aid in the short
term with an increased reliance on services in the medium to long term rather than the export of
agricultural and manufactured commodities may be an optimum strategy for East Timor.
Entrepreneurial skills need to be developed through a strong education system. Continued external
support is required as the building blocks for East Timor to develop economically. The Government
also has a significant role to play as it is crucial that the country adopts Macroeconomic policies which
also generate productive work and income opportunities to develop sustainable livelihoods. It is
important that the poor are assisted in their efforts to improve their farming and commodity
production. East Timor is currently a country with economic, social and political difficulties and is a
country that is fighting back following a difficult phase in the countries political life. However, if
assistance is gained from other supporting countries, service and non production activities

How The Writing Composed Within Academic Settings Can Best...
The writing composed in academic settings can best be described as demonstrate what we have
learned. Writing to review topics about learning new ideas, to present a case and illustrate to our
professors what we have learned, we can think critically and apply it.
The writing submitted to professors gives them an impression of the way our practical mind works
when confronted with a significant topic in a distinct field of study. Instructors want to see us learn to
think like someone trained within this field. Academic writing make extensive use of specialized
vocabulary and is often difficult to read if the reader is unfamiliar. The audience for this type of
reading is a reader with the same background and equivalent preparation. In ... Show more content on

This people do not want to know or monitor the growth of the writer. They want to know what to do,
and what the company is going to do next. Business writers often propose and support strategic
courses of action to their audience.
The problem is that most of the professors do not know what their graduates are doing after they leave
college, they receive some random emails and occasional visits from a few students. Hence, they
continue to teach, as if all of their students will seek graduate work. Often using this fact as a defense
of why they teach a distinct academic theory or author or method of evaluation.
This leads to a program and advising that does our students no good. Instead of guesswork what
students are doing, we need to reach out to our graduates and former students to see where they really
work. Then we should reconsider our courses and cooperate with students to better help them see all
of their true potentials. At our best, we should go further than this and help them find internships or
minors or other majors that will help find meaningful work after graduating. One of the fact is most
freshman undergraduates do not want to become academician for a living end. Even if, they did, there
would be a lot of other courses in their future beyond English composition to introduce the proficiency
of writing for academic purposes.
English composition is a general education course required to be taken by majority of students and yet
employers are not

A Statement Of Reform Education Literacy
A Statement of Reform in Educational Proficiency Pertaining to Bernie Sanders Candidacy
In a recent BuzzFeed article, a freshman at UCLA was asked how his life as a college student was
going. It s the remix to ignition, there s no food in the kitchen, my whole life is a mess, I don t know
what s going on and I can t afford my tuition . The life of a college student is stressful. Getting to class
on time after staying up all night studying and trying to earn a degree on pop tarts and canned potatoes
is not an aspect many people dream of experiencing. On top of it all, students endure college with
their biggest fear, how they propose to pay for it, because as most students and educators know it s
expensive. So, I ve come up with a backup plan. Instead of going through all this trouble paying for
some degree that doesn t even guarantee me a job after graduation, I m going to quit college, become
an oven, and get up to five hundred degrees. I m joking of course, but it s an idea that could probably
save you a couple of bucks. Paying for college is an eerie and sinister part of life that many Americans
are forced to face every day. According to The College Board, almost seventy percent of college
students in the United States, the majority being of non Caucasian decent, do not receive adequate
funding and scholarships to help pay for the tuitions at high dollar public universities such as Ohio
State, Arizona State and UCLA, and even inexpensive schools such as TSTC.

  • 2. Reflection On Anthem By Ayn Rand While reading this book I was deeply concerned with the totalitarian government they had in place. It reminded me a lot of the book Anthem by Ayn Rand where they also lived in a very oppressive government but to the point that they were not allowed to say the word I and they were all given their job in society. Throughout the whole novel, I questioned how Mae was okay with working for The Circle. I would never be okay with wearing anything that made me fully transparent to anyone and let them see what I was doing at all times. I would not really care if there were SeeChange cameras up around Auburn because I think they could maybe make campus even safer. • 3. Childhood Abuse And Child Abuse Child abuse is a topic that not many feel comfortable discussing. It goes to reason then, that the abuse one has faced during their childhood is a topic that is also rarely discussed. When a person brings up the situations in which they had been abused as a child, many people will uncomfortably change the subject while giving their condolences. However, childhood abuse can greatly affect future of the adults who have suffered it. Abuse is defined by the Oxford Dictionary (2017) as: cruel and violent treatment of a person or animal. There are three main types of abuse: physical abuse which involves physically harming, psychological abuse which involves verbal abuse (threats, insults, refusal to communicate, etc.) and an array of other acts, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Child Welfare Information Gateway, 2017) This does not account for the countless children who faced multiple types of abuse or the hundreds of incidents that were not recorded. Because of this abuse, those children are now at risk for mental health issues as adults. Multiple sources conclude that childhood psychological abuse is one of the causes for adult mental illnesses such as: anxiety in its many forms, depression, dissociative disorders, PTSD, and suicidal thoughts or actions. (Elish, 2006; Health Direct, 2017; Hunter, 2014) Along with these mental illnesses, adults with a past of psychological abuse are also at risk to become overly critical of themselves, have low self esteem, and to develop an eating disorder such as bulimia, anorexia, or obesity. These illnesses could go undiagnosed or they could be recognized by those who suffer them and treated. There is the usage of different symbols in the film. Each character in the film comes from a different culture; socioeconomic background etc. and they each have their own story. There are many hidden messages in the film through the usage of symbols. The title of the film is Crash which can be interpreted in many different ways. Class conflicts are a huge component of the French Revolution. The French Revolution began as a result of the lack of the people s happiness over how they were told to live their lives. As the first and second estate voted that the bourgeoisie should pay all the taxes, the bourgeoisies was outvoted and was forced to keep paying all of the taxes. The nobility and clergy were very greedy, especially the clergy. Their morals were supposed to be more focused on the word of god, instead of being focused on the material aspects of life on Earth. The clergy was supposed to be kind and helpful, instead of selfish. Since the clergy was greedy, it lead France to be in even more debt and have more conflicts. There were many privileges only given to the upper classes, which made it unfair. At the beginning of the French Revolution, the bourgeoisie became very fed up with the inequalities within the classes. To deal with the inequalities, the estates decided to gather in the tennis courts and take an oath called the Tennis court Oath. The Tennis court Oath stated that they would not leave until a new constitution was created. In the end, a new constitution was created and a new form of government was put into place. The new government was called the national assembly. The national assembly lasted from 1789 1799 but was then abolished as it upset many people in France because the priorities of the National Assemblies decisions did not meet the people s needs. While serving his time he was often beaten by the guards and locked in his cell for long periods throughout the day. When he was released from prison he was completely traumatized. He would lock himself in his bedroom for long periods of time and feared being around large groups of prison. Because he was treated as an adult for a minor crime, he was left mentally unstable at the age of 22. Consequently, Kalief committed suicide due to his experience at Rikers ... The opinions of our peers have an impact our decisions. The short story, On a Rainy River by Tim O brien elaborates the idea that the approval of our communities is often put upon a higher pedestal than our own personal beliefs and values. Challenges Children Face that Need to Be Addressed Children in our communities are exposed to many challenges that need to be addressed by teachers and adults in order to keep a healthy environment that promotes their development. Parents need to be aware of children s different temperaments to make socialization easier and to improve friendships and understanding. Teachers need to be aware of the developmental practices to ensure the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children. Also, they need to be aware of the risk factors that affect their school performance and their life to help them overcome their problems. The two children with a very different temperament that I am going to describe are Maria and Jose. After observing how they behave and act in different situations, I was able to know each of their temperaments. For example, Maria fears strangers, gets frustrated very easily and most of the time is fussy and moody. According to Roberta M. Humans are complex there is no single way to help them stop the behavior. REBT assumes a persons problems come from their mistaken cognitions, which they have perceived. Which have lead to over or under reactions, this behavior becomes habitual and the person creates a dysfunctional pattern. The pattern enables them to continue to repeat the poor behavior, although they know it is unhealthly. In addition REBT, we label our reactions either consciouly or unconsciouly, therefore if we feel depressed, anxious or fearful it is because we have convinced ourselves and validate our emotional reaction. One major tenet of REBT is external events do not determine a persons feelings, a persons individuals beliefs about the event determine if the person has a problem or not. Thus, we are not upset about an event in our particular life, what makes us upset is our interpretation of the event. Intervention The REBT framwork of Albert Ellis (1962) operates as one ot the most straightforward and well known models for explaining the connection between events, thoughts, beliefs, cognitions, emotions, and behaviors (Field, Beeson, Jones, 2015, p. 207)REBT has two competing models, one (classic) assumes dysfuncational negative feeling (anxiety, depressed, anger), differ from corresponsing feeling like concern, remorse and sadness. Human bodies are very sensitive to pH levels and must be maintained to prevent any health issues. The term pH means potentials oh hydrogen. To function properly our blood pH is regulated at 7.4. The degree of acidity or alkalinity is referred to as the acid base balance. The acidity levels increase when the acidic compounds in the blood increase of the alkaline compounds in the blood fall. Alkalinity increases when the reverse occurs. The levels of alkaline and acidic compounds depend on the body s intake, production or decreased elimination or vice versa. If the pH rises or falls increasingly the body s proteins and enzymes can denature and stop functioning. This can cause serious diseases such as cancers or even death. Therefore, our body has essential mechanisms in place to regulate the pH of our blood. Regulating acid base balance: The main functions of the body that deal with maintaining acid base balance are the buffer, renal and respiratory systems. Buffer System: Normal metabolism produces hydrogen in the form of acids; to maintain the pH of the blood the acids are buffered or removed from the body.
