Celebrity Culture and Fashion Trends
Although celebrity culture is typically associated with actors and actress, consumers may also rely
on the trustfulness and credibility of politicians and first wives when deciding fashion trends. In
the 1960s, fashion icon Jackie Kennedy took over the fashion industry (Joel 1). She appealed to
many stay at home women because she was commonly known to have a sophisticated simplicity
(Joel 1) approach to fashion. Her successor, First Lady Michelle Obamahas instantly become a
fashion icon herself as well. She is commonly seen wearing American designers therefore
pushing the American fashion industry into the international spotlight (Givhan 1). People are
often so draw to her style because it gives a glance into her personal life. As Givhan states,
Obama s clothes have connected with the public in contemporary terms, in the language of
Hollywood s glamour, Seventh Avenue s bold entrepreneurship and the democracy of the mass
market (Givhan 1). In March 2009, Michelle Obama appeared on the cover of US Vogue which
showcased her dress, style, and poise (Gibson 40). Brett Schenck, president of Hart Schaffner
Marx states, It s usually the frenzy behind the first lady (Jones), but in the some instances,
President Obama has also made an impact on the fashion industry. In the summer of 2009,
designer Donatella Versace created a runway show that was designed and dedicated to him. The
clothes she created where inspired by President Obama because it showcased a relaxed man

Ivory Poaching Research Paper
Ivory Poaching: Are Elephants Becoming Extinct? Poaching for the ivory tusks from elephants has
become a more prominent idea within the past twenty years. Elephants are killed for their tusks
made of ivory. These are typically used for jewelry, ornamental carvings, and art objects. (Perlez,
1989, n.p.). The elephantpopulation has slowly dwindled down throughout the years because of the
poaching for ivoryand it has caused elephants in some countries to become extinct.
The poaching of elephants for their tusks has driven the animal in some countries such as Sierra
Leone and Senegal to the point of extinction. More than 30,000 elephants were slaughtered in
Africa last year alone, 382 of them in Kenya. (Stewart, 2013n n.p.).
Killing elephants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Poachers have the biggest risk involved in this, due to them actually having to kill the elephant.
They can earn $50 $100 per kilogram. The higher up the chain that the ivory moves, the more the
price raises and the poacher will make more money. By the time that the ivory reaches its highest
level, it can earn up to $3,000 per kilogram. (Stewart, 2013, n.p.). The risks of killing elephants
for their ivory tusks might be a risky job, but many poachers believe that it is worth the effort.
One poacher was interviewed and he revealed that his motivation behind poaching elephants was
because he was jobless. He said I was jobless. Our family had nothing. A friend lured me into it.
He said if we killed an elephant, we could sell its tusks. I did that and got money. So I decided that
would be my full time job. (Mutiga, 2014, n.p.). Although the benefits of poaching an elephant for
their ivory tusks might seem high, they are not. These poachers are endangering the elephant
population and could eventually cause them to become completely

Mlk s Letter To A Birmingham Jail
On April 16th ,1963, MLK wrote his well known Letter from a Birmingham Jail, in order to address
that if you believed in something, which was equality at that time, then you have a moral obligation
to do something about it. If one does nothing about the problem, then you are part of the problem
itself. This important message striked the Negro community with no alternative other than to fight
for their rights as citizens and human beings. Nevertheless, many believed that because MLK was
not from the City of Birmingham he possessed no rights to protest; however, MLK proved himself
qualified by stating that as the president of SCLC and similarities between him and apostle Paul, he
had a moral duty to fight the injustices of discrimination

Internal And External Factors Of Global Trade
1.What are the major factors one must consider when going global? As we all know, global trade
is no easy, companies cannot just ship their products to another country and sell it in the foreign
market, there are many factors need to be considered and analysis. In my point of view, the factor
can be separate into internal and external factors. Internal factor: Does the product sell well in the
home country? If the product is not doing good in the home country, why we should try to go
global? May be some boss may think the foreign country will be adopting the product better
compare to the home country, and I think this is wrong. The Product is the company s core. Do the

Companies need to follow the rule to playing the game in a foreign country. Furthermore,
government is another part the CEO needs to think about it, some government will stop or against
some products unless under their control. The most well known examples will be the Facebook
and Google in China. Google China was founded in 2005 as the google subsidiary corporation and
shut down the service in 2010 by not cooperate with the Chinese government. In the main while, the
Facebook CEO puts lots effort dealing with the Chinese government, but still unable to entry the
Chinese market. Economic and the currency: first of all, every business is trying to avoid risk,
therefor, the economic status of a foreign country is what the company looking for, they want the
low unemployment rate, inflation rate and stable economic environment. Furthermore, the currency
difference will change the product price strategy. the local competition. Most cases fail because
those companies underestimate the local competitor. When the Alibaba found, they are goal is
beat the companies like Amazon and Ebay. There is no one believe Alibaba will achieve their goal
during that time and no one try to make some barrier to stop their expansion. This underestimation
help Alibaba became one of the heavyweight company in the world and Ebay lost the entire market

Q1.name And Describe The Two Dominant Opposing Approaches
Q1.Name and describe the two dominant opposing approaches to copyright:
Copyright is the legal right, to an inventor to perform, print, publish, film, or record artistic,
literary, or musical material, and to allow others to do the same. Copyright law was developed to
provide the creators and inventors of any works with powerful and effective rights of exclusivity
over their creations (Patterson Lindberg, 1991). Over the past, these rights were almost unlimited.
People would use existing developments as if they were their own without any regard of the
creator s exclusive rights. The need to balance and limit such rights arose, and governments
established these limits for the general good of the public.
One of the main opposing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this digital age, however, the internet has provided opportunities allowing the public to share
information directly. For this reason, it has brought about many controversies, and it is considered
a break of the fair use exception. People can freely share files and videos over the internet
(Doctorow, 2006).
The second approach to copyright is the democratic approach. All works of art are ideas built on a
foundation of other ideas. The democratic approach advocates that intellectual property belongs to
the society and should be available for the general good of the public. If the particular usage is
intended to derive financial benefit or any other business related benefits, it is considered
inappropriate usage. If the utilization of factual work were more usable than the use of someone
s creative work, then that would not be fair use. There is no specified edge to the amount of
quoted work that can be called fair use. The courts exercise common sense to determine if it was
too much. If the utilization of the material created market or stirred a competition, and if the fair
use diminishes demand for the original product, it is not considered as appropriate use (Crews,
1993).
Q2. How can a propertarian approach to copyright conflict with fair use?
Copyright laws have not evolved much with

How Did Florence Nightingale s Impact On Nursing And...
Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern day nursing, has had a huge impact on
professionalization and standardization throughout the years. In 1820, Florence Nightingale was
born into the aristocratic social sphere and it was the aristocratic woman who visited and brought
comfort to the sick and poor. In 1850, Nightingale began her training as a nurseat the institute of St.
Vincent de Paul at Alexandria, Egypt. When she was about thirty five years old she gathered a
small group of untrained woman to the British hospital where wounded soldiers rested during the
Crimean warand provided organization and cleaning of the hospital and provided care for the
wounded soldiers. Following the Crimean war, she founded the first training school for Nurses at
St. Thomas Hospital in London in 1860, and that would become the model for nursing education in
the United States.

How Marketers Target Kids
How Marketers Target Kids
Kids represent an important demographic to marketers because they have their own purchasing
power, they influence their parents buying decisions and they re the adult consumers of the future.
Industry spending on advertising to children has exploded in the past decade, increasing from a
mere $100 million in 1990 to more than $2 billion in 2000.
Parents today are willing to buy more for their kids because trends such as smaller family size,
dual incomes and postponing children until later in life mean that families have more disposable
income. As well, guilt can play a role in spending decisions as time stressed parents substitute
material goods for time spent with their kids.
Here are some of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Magazines such as Time, Sports Illustrated and People have all launched kid and teen editions
which boast ads for adult related products such as minivans, hotels and airlines.
Buzz or street marketing
The challenge for marketers is to cut through the intense advertising clutter in young people s
lives. Many companies are using buzz marketing a new twist on the tried and true word of mouth
method. The idea is to find the coolest kids in a community and have them use or wear your
product in order to create a buzz around it. Buzz, or street marketing, as it s also called, can help a
company to successfully connect with the savvy and elusive teen market by using trendsetters to
give their products cool status.
Buzz marketing is particularly well suited to the Internet, where young Net promoters use
newsgroups, chat rooms and blogs to spread the word about music, clothes and other products
among unsuspecting users.
Commercialization in education
School used to be a place where children were protected from the advertising and consumer
messages that permeated their world but not any more. Budget shortfalls are forcing school boards
to allow corporations access to students in exchange for badly needed cash, computers and
educational materials.
Corporations realize the power of the school environment for promoting their name and products. A
school setting delivers a captive youth audience and implies

Cognitive Bias In The Los Angeles Police Department
Back in the late 1990 s the Los Angeles Police Department was hit by a scandal in which police
officers in the Rampart division were accused of various crimes which ranged from planting
evidence, perjury, filing false police reports and physical abuse of innocent victims and other
crimes. The officers involved were in a special gang task force called CRASH (community
resources against street hoodlums) which was created to combat gang related activity and crime
in LAPD areas. It was a major scandal because police officers are held to a higher moral standard
they are expected to not only uphold the law but abide by it as well. Cognitive bias is a systematic
error in thinking that affects the decisions and judgments that people make. (Cherry) This scandal
shows how cognitive bias has played out with not only the officers who committed the crimes but
also by the detectives led the investigation and the chief of police himself.
The first incidence occurred in 1997 when undercover LAPD officer Lyga shot and killed
Gaines an off duty officer. Lyga did not know Gaines was a police officer and feared for his life
because Gaines was threatening him with a gun in a road rage incidence. This case garnered
attention because a white officer shot and killed a black officer. What was discovered during this
investigation was that off duty police officers were providing security services for renowned gang
member Suge Knight and his record label Death Row Records. The detective at the time

The Oedipal Relationship between Hamlet and Gertrude Essay
Throughout William Shakespeare s Hamlet, Shakespeare portrays Hamlet with the same types of
behaviors and frustrations in humans that Sigmund Freud saw at a much later date. When the
relationship between Hamlet and his mother is analyzed Freud s oedipal complex theory comes
to mind. The oedipal complex is a theory created by Freud that states that The child takes both of
its parents, and more particularly one of them, as the object of its erotic wishes. (51) Because of
this desire to be with the parent of the opposite sex, a rivalry is formed with the parent of the same
sex. In the play, Hamletshows great hostility toward his uncle Claudius because his mother s

157 9) He is disgusted by his mother s affection toward Claudius because he believes it is
incestuous. It can also be inferred the Hamlet is more concerned with the marriage of his mother
than the death of his father because Hamlet does not mention or express any concern over how his
father died until he sees the ghost. This fits in with the oedipal complex because it can be said that
unconsciously Hamlet believes that because his father is dead all his competition is gone and his
mother should be his. Claudius marring his mother does not fit in with what Hamlet wants and
takes his object of desire away from him.
Within Act three scene four the full extent of Hamlet s feelings for his mother are expressed which
make the oedipal complex behaviors in the relationship apparent due to the fact Hamlet makes
numerous sexually allusions. In this scene Hamlet confronts his mother about her relationship with
Claudius and her involvement in the murder of King Hamlet. Here Hamlet is actually more
concerned with his mother s sexual relationship than anything else including avenging his father.
Throughout most of the scene, Hamlet
concentrates on his mother s sexual relationship with Claudius by making many sexual allusions
and berating his mother with them. He states that she seeks out incestuous pleasure of his bed. (3.4

The Princess Bride Life Lessons
How does it feel that a fantasy novel called The Princess Bride is quite educational and full of
life lessons? The book The Princess Bride by William Goldman is somewhat realistic fiction
where characters make irrational decisions. It s a wild storyline with kings, princesses, pirates,
along with giants, wizards, and resurrection. Nifty Lance is an online blogger who came up with a
few life lessons The Princess Bridemay have taught its readers. The Princess Brideteaches its
readers certain lessons like; just because something seems impossible doesn t mean it s not
possible, make the opponent feel good, just because nobody has done it, doesn t mean you can t,
and knowing when to put the team first opposed to yourself first. One lesson portrayed in The
Princess Bride is just because nobody has done it, doesn t mean you can t. This lesson is saying
someone always has to be the first to do something (Lance). In the book, this lesson can be seen
when Fezzik scaled the Cliffs of Insanity. With that the Turk... Show more content on

In this life lesson it is describing how sometimes you have to put the team as a priority rather
than being selfish. This lesson is portrayed in Goldman s novel when Inigo wants to find Count
Rugen, but has to storm the castle, so Westley can find Buttercup. Which leaves us probably
now something over half an hour to get in, steal the girl, but not before I kill Count Rugen
(Goldman 330). A quote like this showcases both sides of the lesson in a way, since Inigo wants
to kill Count Rugen himself, but Inigo knows he has to help steal and rescue Buttercup.
Somewhere this lesson rings true in real life would be in a football game when you want to get
the ball, but you know somebody else will get you more yards. What this means is somebody is

Knight Code Of Chivalry Research Paper
The Knight s code of chivalry was the bible of the Middle Ages. The code of chivalry was a

you ve thought about it or not. Me? I believe in being nice to people, making friends with dogs,
and keeping my positivity amped up around those I interact with in the hopes that I can brighten
their day. I know what it s like to be sad and talk to yourself all day and have nothing seem
positive.. I want to bring a little light in people s lives if I can. Though, I am also a firm believer
in the justice of karma for the wrong doers, even though everyone does deserve to be surrounded
by positivity, there must be a balance. It is just miserable to live and function regularly when
everything happening around to you seems so negative. I will force my positivity for the
wellbeing of others because it is too often then not that I am affected heavily by emotions in a
negative way, I don t want to radiate that unto others. It makes me feel good when I radiate
positivity because people receive that positivity and the positivity bounces off of them onto the

Mein Kampf Essay
Mein Kampf
MEIN KAMPF is written in the style of a self educated mod em South German with a gift for
oratory. Of course this picture does not begin to characterize Hitler the man, but it does, I think,
account for the elements of his style.
Beginning in his Vienna period, Hitler was a voracious news paper reader. The style of the Austrian
press, as Karl Kraus never wearied of pointing out, was slovenly, illogical, pretentious. Even the
grammar, doubtless because of the large number of Czechs, Hungarians, and other foreigners in the
trade, was uncommonly bad. Hitler inveighed against the Viennese melting pot, but was
unconsciously influenced by its literary style.
He must also have read popular pamphlets on history, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In more concrete passages he is combating political adversaries in his own movement, but even
here the continuity is mystifying, because he never tells us whom he is arguing against, but sets up
every political expedient as a universal principle.
This personalization makes Hitler a poor observer. His style is without color and movement.
Images are rare, and when they do appear, they tend to be purely verbal and impossible to
visualize, like the cornerstone for the end of German domination in the monarchy or forcing the
less strong and less healthy back into the womb of the eternal unknown. The mixed metaphor is
almost a specialty of modern German journalism, but Hitler, with his eyes closed to the visual
world, was an expert in his own right. Pohner, for example, was a thorn in the eyes of venal
officials.
A non German of Hitler s intellectual level would in some ways write quite differently. Germany
was a land of high general culture, with the largest reading public of any country in the world. In
the lower middle class, there was a tremendous educational urge. People who in other countries
would read light novels and popular magazines devoured works on art, science, history, and above
all philosophy. Certain philosophical phrases became journalistic cliches. Hitler is forever speaking
of concepts, of things as such (an sick). Moreover, he is constantly at pains to show that he, too, is
cultured. Hence the long, intricate sentences in which he

The Goals And Processes Of Inductive And Deductive Processes
Contrast the goals and processes of inductive and deductive processes when it comes to the study of
scripture.
The inductive and deductive processes are the methods that we apply to use our understanding and
practice in studying scriptures in the bible. The goal of the inductive processes is to understand the
particulars which is based on a set of conclusive ideas. In studying bible scriptures the goal is to
engage and immerse ourselves in the words of what the bible scriptures is conveying to us. The
induction process to studying scriptures Is essentially a comprehensive, holistic study of the bible
that takes into account every aspect of the existence of the biblical text and that intentional in
allowing the Bible in its final canonical shape to speak to us on its own terms, thus leading to
accurate, original, compelling, and profound interpretation and contemporary appropriation (Bauer
and Traina 2006, 7).
Acquiring the spiritual truth requires us to be motivated and disciplined in a manner that engages
our spiritual connection to God in that As Christian believers, we are convinced that the
development of a methodical, inductive approach is the means of training the mind to become a
more fit instrument for the operation of God s spirit. Because biblical interpretation is to be
valid...But the mind s proper function is not automatic; therefore the mind needs to be trained, or it
might become the means negating God s spirit (Bauer and Traina 2006, 10). In contrast,

A Study on Traffic Violations Essay
A STUDY ON TRAFFIC RULES VIOLATIONS IN CHENNAI
(VANDALUR AND PERANGALUTUR)
Submitted By:
Praveen Kumar A, MBA.
INTRODUCTION Violations in traffic laws are very common in a highly populated country like
India. The conditions are even worse in metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai Bangalore and Chennai.
The accidents associated with these violations cause a huge loss to life and property.
Same is the case in Chennai. Being a metro city and a highly populated one also, has a lot of road
accidents every year. Despite this the violations in traffic laws do not reduce. A lot of people
disobey the rules every day sometimes willingly and sometimes because they are forced to do so
because of others.
The major traffic laws in India ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also it has a vast population which causes a lot of traffic on the roads. Knowing these factors help
us to collect more accurate data because it enables us to compare between different situations and
make a better analysis. These factors can be identified as:
Overcrowded roads because of a large population, Maximum traffic is observed during office
hours i.e. between 8.00 10.00AM and 5.00 8.00PM. Therefore the maximum violations are also
done during these peak hours. Are report includes study during both peak as well as non peak
hours. One another important factor is that since most of the offices are in the areas like Vandalur
and Perangalatur, the maximum traffic is observed in these areas. So these areas experience
maximum breaking of traffic laws.
The violations mentioned in the report are:
Overloading of vehicles it is very common in the case of two wheelers.
Not wearing helmets or seat belts is also a major rule which is not followed and is the cause of
many deaths and serious injuries.
Drunken driving and speeding beyond a mentioned limit.
Driving in the wrong direction is one of the key violations.
Not obeying the traffic signals is observed mainly during the peak hours of traffic as everyone is
in a rush to reach early.
Thus, these are the basis on which the report is based.

Since relocation was an important issue, I set my resistance point to $7,000 for the relocation
bonus as a sweetener if needed during the closing process (Lewicki, Barry, Saunders, 2011).
Collaborative Bargaining The negotiation between Joe and Leigh had elements of distributive
bargaining, but their relationship and the outcome of the negotiation were important to both parties,
thus, this negotiation also had collaborative bargaining characteristics (Lewicki, Barry, Saunders,
2010). When using this strategy, the objective is to maximize your outcome on the substantive
issues while enhancing the quality of the relationship with the other party (Lewicki, Barry,
Saunders, 2011). In a job offer negotiation between two familiar parties, it is important to find a
mutually satisfying solution to also enhance business performance.
Settled Upon Agreement An agreement was reached on the negotiation for a job offer at Robust
Routers, and assuming the role of the human resources manager, I was satisfied with the outcome

Justification Of Justification
Justification is defined as an acceptable reason for doing something in the Merriam Webster
Dictionary ( Justification ). Since the beginning of time, people have been justifying their words,
actions, and thoughts. People are taught to defend their answers or explain why they hold certain
beliefs in order to convince others to side with them. In other words, justification is the reasoning
behind a certain concept. Justification can also be used to validate or invalidate more complex
ideas such as betraying the government for freedom. One major example of justification of unjust
actions occurred at the hands of the controversial Sons of Libertyduring the Revolutionary War in
America when they tried to propagate rebellion.
Originally known as The Loyal Nine, the Sons of Liberty was first established in the summer of
1765 in order to oppose the various taxations Great Britain had placed upon the colonies ( Sons
of Liberty ; Taxation and Colonial Protests ). The Sons of Liberty got their name came from a
speech given in British Parliament by Isaac Barre referring to the general populous as Sons of
Liberty ( Sons of Liberty ). However, the term Sons of Liberty could refer to anyone within this
infamous group or those who generally opposed British policies (Carp 37). This group claimed that
they stood for their rights lawfully but that was not always the case (Crompton 13). It is true that
they used legal petitions, assemblies, and propaganda, nevertheless they also used

This allowed poorer students to be educated and to progress their studies to College level. Again,
this prompted a running succession of schools being built throughout more parts of the world,
including, Uruguay. This South American state developed its own unique Spanish Culture due to
the founding of Stella Maris College, a University developed by the Irish Christian Brother s
congregation. In 1972, a Uruguayan Air Force Flight crashed and landed in the Andes, leaving
sixteen survivors stranded with nothing for seventy two days. The nationalities of these people
varied, yet they all learned to work together because of something in common. From this, we can
clearly see that the traits shown by the Christian Brothers perhaps enabled these people to make
decisions.
In 1967, the Christian Brothers had managed to gather over five thousand members, who were
teaching in six hundred different schools and colleges throughout the World and Europe. The
Marino Institute for Education became the main training centre of the Christian Brothers which has
effectively been training lay teachers since 1972. Degrees offered have been validated since 1974.

Mandating Seat Belt Usage vs. Freedom of Choice Essay example
Mandating Seat Belt Usage vs. Freedom of Choice SOC120: Introduction to Ethics and Social
Responsibilities 1 How do you feel when you are told what you will or will not do? You may be
told that it is for your own good, but who has the right to decide what is or is not good for you?
After all who knows you better than you do? This brings me to the topic of my discussion. Even
though there are some statistics that may show a lower rate of injury or death if you wear a seat
belt when in an automobile accident, I do not feel that the government has the right to make
wearing a seat belt mandatory for adults because by making seat belts mandatory it takes away
from our right to freedom of choice, and wearing a seat... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That no one has the right to decide what is right for them, and that no one should be able to
mandate what they have to or do not have to do. This topic is no different to them than say,
flying in an airplane. No one tells them that they have to fly in an airplane, which requires
putting their life at risk, yet they themselves make the decision to do so or not. According to our
text, Utilitarianism evaluates whether an act is right or wrong in terms of the act s consequences,
and argues that, given a set of choices, the act we should choose is that which produces the best
results for the greatest number affected by that choice. To break it down even further, the rule
utilitarian contends that one should do things that, as a rule, generate the greatest good for the
greatest number (Mosser, K, 2010). I believe this to be the philosophy that the government has
taken into account when establishing the seat belt mandate laws. They, being those who make
these types of laws, are in fact looking out for what they believe is the greater good for the
majority involved. They are not taking into account our god given freedom to make these types of
choices for ourselves. On the other hand, those who oppose the passage of this law error on the
ethical egoism philosophy. This philosophy argues that our moral evaluations should be made in
terms of our desires and goals. Something that promotes what I want is regarded as right; something

The study The Relationship Between Ethical and Abusive Coaching Behaviors and Student Athlete
Well Being was conducted by Mariya A. Yukhymenko Lescroart, Michael E. Brown, and Thomas S.

researchers sought to understand the effects that a coach s behavior had on a students morals,
satisfaction, and impressions of team unity. Social cognitive theory has long thought that we learn
by imitating those around us, particularly those in leadershippositions. The coaches of sports teams

Coaches were first asked if their teams would participate, and if the coach approved, the students
were given surveys to fill out with the assurance that it was voluntary and confidential. Coaches
were asked not to be present as the students filled out the surveys, which consisted of nineteen
Likert scale questions. 40.8% of the students were female, and the entire sample was primarily
white, although 15.4% were black and 12.5% were other.
This study had five main variables. First, the inclusion climate, or how unified the students felt
their team was. This was measured by three questions on a 1 to 6 scale. Next was willingness to
cheat, or the perceived readiness of fellow teammates to be dishonest, which was measured by a
1 to 5 scale question. Also measured was the college choice satisfaction, or how content the
students felt about their choice of college. This was measured by three questions on a 1 to 7 scale.
Next was ethical leadership, or whether the student felt that the coach was running the team with
positive morals. It was measured by six questions on a 1 to 5 scale. Last was abusive coaching
behavior, or how the students felt about their coach s amount of abuse or lack thereof. This was
assessed with three questions on a 1 to 5 scale. The perceived ethical climate of the school

Surveillance And Surveillance Throughout The Book,...
Surveillance is a continuous close observation of a person. Surveillance plays a key part in the
book, Villette by Charlotte Bronte. In Villette, Bronte is focusing on a specific character, Lucy
Snowe. Throughout the book Lucy is telling us about her life story while surveillance appears
throughout. The focus of this paper is on how surveillance changes over the course of Lucy s life.
Lucy s opinion of surveillance changes over time because of her age, the people who come in and
out of her life, and when she realizes she is the one being watched by different characters. In Villette
, Lucy is telling us about her life story. Throughout the whole book we can tell that Lucy is a
different age at different parts of the book. Lucy s opinion of surveillance changes as she is
growing up. In the beginning, Lucy is a young teenager living with her god mother, Mrs. Bretton.
At this point in the story, Lucy s opinion of surveillance is nonexistence, she really does not care
about the what is going on around her because at this point there is nothing big going on in her life.
As the story goes on, another young girlcomes into the Bretton house and Lucy is very curious
about who this little girl is, who she belongs to, and why she is coming to stay at her god mother
s house. Lucy comes to find out through surveillance that the little girls name is Polly and she is
coming to stay at the Bretton s house because her father is ill and is traveling and she is too young

Analysis Of Thomas Alva Edison s Life
Thomas Alva Edison was born February 11, 1847, in Milan Ohio. He was the seventh and last
child born to Samuel Edison Jr. and Nancy Elliot Edison. He would be one of the four to survive to
adulthood[1].
During the Civil War, Edison learned a lot about the emerging technology of telegraphy. He
traveled around the country doing lots of work in this field. Edison began to develop serious
hearing loss early in life, in which many believed came from a serious case of scarlet fever or
some type of blow to the head1. With the development of auditory signals for the telegraph,
Edison knew he was at a disadvantage because of his fading hearing, and he began to work on
inventing devices that would help make life a little easier for him despite his deafness. One of
these devices consisted of a printer that would convert electrical signals to letters. Edison realized
that he had a love for inventions, so much so, that he decided to quit telegraphy in 1869, to pursue
the life of a fulltime inventor1.
After Thomas Edison left the field of telegraphy, he began to develop his career as an independent
entrepreneur. By doing this, he managed to form lots of partnerships that would help him in his
upcoming career as an inventor. Edison had his eyes on the prize because he developed his
products only for the highest bidders. Often, that was Western Union Telegraph Company, or one of
its competitors[2].
During Edison s life here on earth, he acquired a total of 1,093 United States patents for

Affluenza Case Study Essay
In Mr. Couch s case, I am on the side of nurture. While he still should have endured a greater
consequence, it is clear that Mr. Couch and other privileged kids are beginning to show symptoms
of affluenza. This seems to be a rising problem in modern society. However, there are other places
to learn right from wrong other than places like home. Schoolcould be used as a great example as a
place to learn what decisions should and should not be made. The issue with using school as an
example is that money follows people. Parents who can afford to pay for private schooling can a

distance because of the way our parents interacted with her. Our parents did not spend very much
time with their children, so being self sufficient as a child was very necessary. The environment I

The Sexual Dysfunction Problem for Men
Premature ejaculation (PE) is a frequent and under treated problem for males and their sexual
partners. PE is the most common sexual dysfunction problem for men, with an estimated 14
30% of males ages 18 years and older reporting PE globally. However, the prevalence of PE is
difficult to determine because of the ambiguity surrounding the definition of clinically relevant PE
as well as the reluctance of sufferers to report their condition . Yet, most previously published
clinical trials use the DSM IV TR definition of PE, defined as : A.Persistent or recurrent pattern of
ejaculation occurring during partnered sexual activity within approximately 1 minute following
vaginal penetration and before the individual wishes it (Note: Although the diagnosis of PE may
apply to individuals engaged in non vaginal sexual activities, specific duration criteria have not
been established for these activities) B.The symptom in Criterion A must have been present for at
least 6 months and must be experienced on almost all or (approximately 75% 100%) all occasions
of sexual activity (in identified situational contexts or, if generalized, in all contexts) C.The
symptom in Criteria A causes clinically significant distress in the individual. D.The sexual
dysfunction is not better explained by a nonsexual mental disorder or as a consequence of severe
relationship distress or other significant stressors and is not attributable to the effects of a substance

Margaret Beaufort Pottery Case Study
Margaret Beaufort lived in a time when the ceramics industry in London and the surrounding
areas was just starting to take off (Kingston type ware). She was born into a wealthy family and
so she had many servants to take care of the cooking and cleaning (The Red Queen..., 2013). At
this time, many beautifully glazed jugs and other pots were probably used in her home. However,
most of these pots were probably glazed with a green or yellow glaze as that was the popular color
at that time (Medieval Glazed Ware). Margaret Beaufort was an esteemed womanthat probably had
some of the best quality pottery and the some of the most asthetically pleasing decorative pieces.

The Minoan Civilization On The Mediterranean Island Of...
The Minoan Civilization began on the Mediterranean island of Crete. It was first excavated by Sir
Arthur Evans. The possible civilization sparked his interest when a charm that the Minoans use to
wear was found, and it was brought to his attention. He started at Knossos, where the possible
civilization became a reality. He uncovered multiple palaces, which have all been named since then.
They are named: Knossos, Phaistos, Malia, and Zakros. Each one shows signs of religion, trade,
and politics. They believed these palaces controlled the Minoan civilization. These Palaces seemed
to co exist on this small island because there are no signs of wall fortifications or protection.
Although they were able to stand their ground when challenged because they made swords,
daggers, and armor. The Minoan civilization was intellectually advanced for their time.
Hieroglyphics, writing, art, frescos, and pottery. This civilization created three different writing
styles, although the first was not complex and structure enough to be considered a writing style. It
only involved pictures and symbols simply drawn to express a thought. This type of writing was
mainly found in Knossos and Phaistos. The next type of style was called Script A. Cretan
Hieroglyphs and Linear A were likely very closely related and in fact might be two scripts of the
same writing system, but we do not know enough about either system to draw any conclusions at
this time (ancientscripts.com). Historians are unable to

When we think of cannibalism, our minds immediately turn to gruesome pictures of humans eating
other humans or fictional characters that feast upon the flesh of other living people (especially
with a nice chianti and fava beans). Though cannibalism may not be a common occurrence among
humans, it is a fairly widespread practice upon many other species of the animal kingdom. This
paper will explore the behavior of cannibalismin the tiger salamander (Ambystoma tigrinum) a
major fitness cost of cannibalism in these organisms: pathogentransmission. Cannibalism is
operationally defined as the ingestion of all or part of a conspecific, and is taxonomically

Most normal morphs feed on invertebrates, whereas cannibal morphs eat a wider range of prey
including conspecific and heterospecific larvae. Since tiger salamanders breed in ephemeral ponds,
it is believed that environmental cues influence the frequency of cannibal morphs in a population.
These cues can include high intraspecific density that leads to resource competition, pathogen and
/or parasite densities in the habitat, etc. (Brunkow and Collins, 1996; Collins et al., 2003; Denoel et
al., 2006; Maret and Collins, 1997; Pfennig, 1991, 1998). Most current research on cannibalism in
tiger salamanders focuses on kin selection and kin recognition strategies. However, within the past
twenty years more research has begun to focus on the cost of pathogen transmission on cannibalism
in tiger salamanders. This seems to be due to the increased amphibian population declines due to
pathogens and because it seems to be the biggest fitness cost to cannibalistic salamanders, when
compared to the other mentioned above (Parris et al., 2005; Pfennig, 1997). Through the current
research, the rest of this paper will explore pathogen transmission and how it affects cannibalism in
tiger salamanders. First we will survey some research done on transmission dynamics and the
pathogens that affect tiger salamanders. It is believed that numerous bacterial pathogens in high
enough quantities and infecting other tissues than they usually do can lead to death in tiger

Gondwana
Gondwana, the southern half of the ancient supercontinent Pangea and a supercontinent in its own
right, was composed of the continents and landmasses that we now call Antarctica, South America,
Africa, Madagascar, Australia, New Zealand, the Arabian Peninsula and the Indian subcontinent. A
supercontinent is a large landmass that is made up of several continents and a subcontinent is a
large distinguishable part of a continent, an example being the part of Asia which contains India,
Pakistan and Bangladesh. Gondwana was first formed between 570 510 Mya (million years ago)
and then combined with another supercontinent, Laurasia, to form Pangea. It then split from
Pangea between 280 200 Mya, with different resources stating different timeframes for this split.
Around 180 165 Mya, Gondwana started to split and the continents started drifting to where they
are today. Back when Gondwana existed, the climateon Earthwas milder than what it is today and
the average temperature was significantly higher than the average temperature on Earth now. As a
result of this climate, much of Gondwana was covered in lush temperate rainforests. The geological
event that caused these continents to combine together and split apart from each other is called
continental drift. The Continental Drift Theory explains how continents can move along the... Show

Causes Of Dropouts In The UAE
Should I really drop out? he sadly said I think have no other choice, besides I cannot even afford
it In the recent years of UAE, a good amount of students are dropping out of universities. Why are
the classes getting empty? Where are the students leaving? Setting the education off the priorities
is something normal now in the UAE, but from a logical point of view it should not be normal. It
is safe to say that increase rate of dropouts can be added to the list of problems that UAE faces. For
instance, the American University of Sharjahonce showed that 30% of students drop out after the
freshmen year, and this is just one university out of many in the UAE. There are many different
causes behind this problem for sure. The most important... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, Analysts polled by Reuters in 2014 showed that the average inflation in the UAE
would rise by 2.5 percent in 2014, 2.7 percent 2015, and expected to accelerate more in the
incoming years ( UAE Inflation, 2014, para. 2). In other words, inflation is striking in all over
UAE, and paying for tuition fees is becoming harder than ever. For example, the American
University of Sharjah office of registrar stated on the undergraduate catalog of 2010 2011 that
the tuition fee per semester is approximately 37,000 dhs whereas the tuition fee per semester of
2016 2017 is about 50,000 dhs. A probable reason why students are dropping out is they come
from a poor financial background, where the parents find some difficulties to pay the tuition fees,
or they have other expenses to commit to such as rents, debts, and regular consumptions.
Furthermore, a second reason could be the lack of earning scholarships or financial aids. In the
recent years, universities lean towards to be pickier in the admission of the scholarships; as a
result, students are forced to drop out as they rely fully on the scholarships. In my case, I had the
same problem and I was not able to maintain the scholarship. I was about to drop out, but thank god

U.s. Imposes Tariffs On Chinese Solar Panels
This article discusses how the U.S. imposes tariffs on Chinese solar panels due to the fact that
China was dumping solar panels to the U.S market, it also considers the possible impact of these
changes and attempts to assess the relative merits/drawbacks of the policy. Dumping is the selling
of goods and services on foreign markets below their costof production[ http://study.com/academy
/lesson/dumping in economicsdefinition effects.html]. A tariff is defined as taxation on imported
goods.
Dumping of Chinese solar panels on the U.S market
Chinese companies were selling products below the cost of manufacture also benefiting from unfair
subsidies from their government this results the domestic quantity supply of solar panels to
decrease as the price of domestic supplied solar panels is higher than ones imported from China. But
U.S consumers are paying a lower price when solar panels are exported to the U.S from China and
consumers get more variety of choices when buying. Even if America s solar market contained no
trade barriers before this, the domestic quantity supplied would still decrease from Q2 to Q1
because most domestic solar companies cannot compete with the subsidized Chinese producers.
Inexpensive Chinese solar products pushed many American manufacturers out of business , causing
structural unemployment in America and this will be difficult for the U.S government to deal with
because this will require retraining or other initiatives which can sometimes be

How Society Affects Obese People
How Does Society Affect Obese People? It is not necessary to be an expert to know that obese
people in our society are more likely to be excluded and prejudged on how well they can develop

our society has against obese people. Some of the discrimination methods the article mentions are
verbal types such as ridicule, teasing, insults, stereotypes, derogatory names or pejorative
language. Physical discrimination such as medical equipment that is too small for obese patients,
chairs or seats in public venues which do not accommodate obese persons, etc. The
stigmatization of obese people occurs every place, for example at work overweight people tend to
be judged as lazy, less competent, and slow in their assignments. These stereotypes are an obstacle
for obese people, because they cannot be promoted in their jobs. Also in school, students who are
overweight are underrated by their classmates, but worst by their teachers. Nobody thinks
overweight people will be stigmatizing in a hospital. Unfortunately doctors also prejudged people

Abstract
The steady magnetohydrodynamic flow of an incompressible non Newtonian power law nanofluid
due to a uniform rotation of an infinite disk is studied with heat and mass transfer. The thermal
conductivity has been assumed to obey the same nonlinear rheological model of the viscosity
function; as well as, the viscous dissipation has been comprised in the energy equation. The
governing PDEs are reduced to a set of ODEs; using the generalized Von Karman similarity
transformations; for which finite difference numerical scheme is implemented based on its
associated boundary conditions. The influence of the non Newtonian fluid characteristics on the
distributions of fluid velocity components, temperature and concentration of suspended
nanoparticles has been analyzed. The significant effects of thermal radiation, Brownian motion and

Kate Chopin s The Story Of An Hour
Considered one of American s foremost feminist authors, Kate Chopin addresses issues
challenging to the social and gender roles of the late 1800s. She celebrates women who seek their
own identity and focuses on individual journeys of self discovery. Her short story The Story of an
Hour has a unique structure in that it adheres to a realistic premise, yet contains a protagonist who
represents idealism. Faced with the news that her husband has died, Mrs. Mallard takes ownership
of her own emotions and strength to control her life. However, her emotional revelation emerges
only upon her husband s supposed death. Chopin juxtaposes physical death with emotional
freedom, suggesting actions and feelings are determined by social, psychological, and emotional
forces instead of individual will. In order to show the fragility of Mrs. Mallard and her idealism,
Chopin creates a microcosm in Mrs. Mallard s bedroom of solidarity; a world of freedom and
choice within the bedroom and the world of deterministic forces on the other side of the door.
Through the setting, Chopin explores the dichotomy between the desire to change one s situation
and the possibility to change one s situation.
In a realistic perspective, one is cautious of the truth as it cannot be changed by any means and
determines one s fate. As the news of Brently Mallard s death arrives, family and friends are
apprehensive to deliver the news to Mrs. Mallard. The caution, however, does not stem from
genuine concern for her

believe she would fall into the peer category. Mariam is also very active in her community and has
many peers that she socializes with and groups that she participates in, such as Jr. League, and club
luncheons. The media also plays a role in her microsystem through the television and more
specifically the news broadcast they would watch.

Tutankhamun Burial
Ancient Egypt revolved around the belief that one was reborn after death and would be guaranteed
eternal life if the body was preserved and buried properly. Tutankhamun became a pharaoh of Egypt
at the age of nine during the 18th Dynasty. His rain lasted approximately 10 years when he died
unexpectedly and consequently his tomb and burial was rushed leaving him with a much smaller
and less impressive tomb that was common for 18th dynasty tombs. Tutankhamuns tomb was
discovered still sealed by British archaeologist Howard Carter in 1922 in the Valley of the Kings.
Evidently, as to the undersized scale of the tomb it was hardly touched by grave robbers as every
other tomb had been, leaving the modern world with great treasures and artefacts... Show more

These paintings, through limited, show evidence that Tutankhamun s funeral preparations comply
with Osirin burial customs. The paintings depict scenes of Tutankhamun s preparation and voyage
to the afterworld. The northern wall of the burial room portray scenes from the Opening of the
mouth ceremony and Tutankhamun, followed by his Ka, being greeted by Osiris. The Opening of
the mouth ceremony was perfumed by Ay, Tutankhamun s successor as he had no heirs to the
throne, and it allowed the deceased to be reborn again in the afterlife and keep all his senses.
Tutankhamun is greeted by the sky goddess Nut who is a symbol of resurrection, representing the
dead pharaoh being reborn into the afterlife. A scarab beetles is displayed above a solar boat on
the wast wall symbolising new life and the twelve baboon deities represent the hours of the night
the pharaoh must travel to be reborn. On the southern wall of the burial room Tutankhamun is
pictured being welcomed to the afterlife by Isis, Horus and Anubis. Both Horus and Anubis are
holding Ankhs which convey Tutankhamun s eternal life in the afterworld. Each wall depicts a
different scenes with the similar theme of resurrection, new life and eternal life, all concepts

Controversy Of Advertisement
Argumentative Essay
In today s society the only way to become a famous musician is to have good music that fans will
like. One of the ways fans learn about an artist s new songs is through ads. A fan would be
watching TV or listening to music on their smartphone, and an ad might pop up with their favorite
artist s new song. The fan would most likely wonder what is was and download it. Artists should
continue to allow their music to be placed in advertisements because it helps them earn money, and
it can help them get recognized.
First, using ads can help the artist earn more money. Some artists only make U.S. minimum wage
for their music, so advertising and making corporate deals can really help. A band called Oh,
Sleeper is an example. Out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sometimes fans will feel betrayed when they see their favorite song in a burger commercial and
instead of gaining popularity the artist will actually lose it and get very strong negative feedback.
Take U2 for example one of the world s most popular rock bands who after, landing a deal with
Apple that had their 2014 album Songs of Innocence installed into 500 million iTunes
subscribers libraries for free, faces a storm of negative feedback from fans and critics alike.
People resented the idea that an album they didn t ask for was forced on them, likening the
album to musical spam, and the reputations of both U2 and Apple were damaged. (Source 2
Paragraph 8) Although doing this can hurt the reputation of artists it can help them as well. They
can earn way more money, get famous quickly and live a good life. It is a risk artists are willing to
take because making music is their livelihood not just their hobby.
To conclude, signing off songs, albums, and making commercials can be a risk, there are way
more benefits than cons. Besides if an artist doesn t want his or her music on streaming apps,
they can just tell those companies to stop streaming their music, which may increase sales of
downloads of an artist s music since it is not being streamed. Everyone knows that ads help and
making deals help so why make a big deal? It is an artist s choice and if they want to

Reflection Paper On Dance Performance
On December 1, 2017, in the University Theatre at California State University, Dominguez Hills,
I observed the fall dance concert Rise. It was choreographed by Amy Michelle Allen, Marco A,
Carreon, Sarah Cashmore, Jeff Hendrix, Erin Landry, Doris Ressl Acosta, and Kenneth Walker,
with the long cast of dancers. The production was pleasing, and would not have been believable
without the work from production designers, Frederick Depontee and Cheryl Sheldon. Rise is
played out in eight different danceroutines, which were Xtra Xtra, Scar Tissue, Hart Broken, Things
Are A Stirrin , and the rest are intermissions such as Female Energy, Women, Exotica, Strength In
Numbers, and Makina. This fall dance concert was filled with joy, darkness, torture, culture, and
women s rights, right when you sit down and observe through all 8 dance performances. It would
have been 9 dance routines but the dancer who was suppose to perform Hart Broken had an injury,
which made a putt off. Nevertheless the show must go on, it starts off with the first and second
performance, Xtra Xtra and Scar Tissue. Revealing that both performances were different themes
because Xtra Xtra had the dancers in radiant colors and seemed to be energetic, whereas the
performers in Scar Tissue were clothed in black attire, such as tutus, dresses, and tights, yet still
energetic. This brought to my attention that the whole dance performances were contrast to each
other. Throughout the routines of the dance concert, the

Immigrants Shape American Identity
You are not White, Black, Yellow or Brown you are an American If your color of skin, your race,
or where you came from do not matter can you be an American and how can you shape America?
Immigrants have helped shape American identity by rethinking race and creating a new image of
what it means to be American. In the article, Blaxicans and Other Reinvented Americans Richard
Rodriguez illustrates, ... black over white, for example. But this girl said that her mother was
Mexican and her father was American. This girl said Blaxicans. Richard Rodriguez demonstrates
how the immigrants reinvent new races by combining two races making one races. The identity of
these immigrants shapes American by having many races that are invented by immigrants

development which is the aim of any country. Unemployment is defined when a person who is
actively searching for employment is unable to find work. There are many ways one can be
unemployed hence, there are different types, frictional, cyclical and structural. Frictional

Taxing Taxation And The Tax System
In the United States, taxing is a large source of funding for many programs. Taxes are instituted to
all U.S. citizens by the government for government programs. Without taxes roads, buildings,
public services, and much more would not be accessible to everyone. Yet, as simple as a tax
sounds, there are several different qualifications and standards that make it more complicated
(Weigant). There are several different taxsystems, only two used in the United States: regressive
and progressive taxation. Regressive taxation is a tax system where the proportion of income
paid in taxes decreases as one s income increases. Progressive taxation is a tax system where
individuals or families that have a higher percentage of income will pay more in taxes. Not only
does the tax dollars increase, but the tax rates also increases. In conjunction with these tax
systems, there is also a proportional tax, which means all individuals or families pay the same
rate of income despite their income (Roach). Within these tax systems are various types of taxes
imposed by the United States government. In 1913, the sixteenth amendment legalized the first
income tax proposed by the federal government that was levied on wages and salaries. The
federal government will only tax a portion of the total income, which is all the sum acquired by an
individual or family from all sources of work. Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) is a deduction from
the total income, but the number deducted is not based off of

The Frontispice And Incipit Of The Gelasian Sacrament
The Frontispice and Incipit of the Gelasian Sacrament, is the art from the first two pages of the
Gelasian Sacrament. While it is impossible to know for certain, since this piece was neither signed
nor dated, it is widely accepted that this piece was created by nuns in the nunnery at Chelles. The
nunnery at Chelles is famous for having cultivated the art of writing. 1 The story of the journey of
this codex is unknown. From the nunnery in France, this codex spent time in the library of Queen
Christina of Sweden, before heading to the Vatican Library. But other than these three location, the
whereabouts of this book through the century are unknown. What is known is this codex was made
for priest not bishops and was used in Roman churches in the seventh century. 2 Also, it has not,
however, reached us in its original form, but with modifications and additions made by generation
after generation. 3
The two pages are strikingly similar. They both use the same color scheme of red outlines, with red,
blue, green and yellow decorations. The figures used on both pages are similar, crosses, birds,
horses, fish, and felines. Also, the stylistic choice of putting figures inside circles was reoccurring.
In the Frontispice, the image on the left, there is a decorative arch encasing a cross. It appears that
the artist attempted to make the image symmetrical, with the line of symmetry running vertically
down the middle of the page. There is only one definite difference between the

Assess the Reasons Why Young People Seem to Participate in...
Shown in recent statistics, is that younger people, who are over 15 (as children under this age
are usually forced by parents), do not participate in religious activity as much as the older
generation excluding the over 65s group, this is usually because they cannot get to church easily
due to ill health and disabilities. Brierley supports the idea of an older generation by showing
that the average age of church goers in 1979 was 37 which increased to 49 in 2005, clearly
showing a trend towards an older congregation. Heelas also found that those involved with the New
Age Movements were mainly middle aged or older; again supporting the recent trend.
Some reasons for why younger generations are less religious are because of the increase ... Show
more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the past this did not happen, the older generation just had traditional beliefs and religions
suggesting why it may seem that there is more religious participation by the older generation as
young people see the traditional beliefs as outdated e.g. views on homosexuality and sex before
marriage, so would rather turn to sects and cults, which is hard to measure in terms of
participation. They may also turn to these sects particularly if the young people feel socially
marginalised and insecure e.g. the Moonies and the Children of God are sects which target such
people. In addition to this, middle aged people who grew up in the 60s counter culture may also
find groups like NAMs fit in with their lifestyle and beliefs; rejecting the recent trend.
What is certain however, is that young people today are far less likely to have a religious
socialisation from parents and schools. They have grown up in a consumerist, materialist society
and look for satisfaction through these things rather than a future in heaven implying that
consumerism could be the new religion of our time. Moreover, one cannot just assume that it is the
young generation that is losing importance over religion, secularisation trends show that it is the
whole of society. This is because of desacralisation and the development of science in which more
people are turning to science and rational thinking. Young people are just more prone to this due to

The And Its Effects On Cell Function
(Windows to the Universe. 2014). If sufficient damage to DNA is achieved, chromosome
abnormalities may be noted, the damaged DNA can attempt to repair itself, sometimes forming
patterns dissimilar to its prior layout. Karaman et al (2005) describes the removal of one or more
nitrogenous bases within the DNA sequence as a deletion error. Substitution is explicated as an
error which occurs when one base pair is replaced by another and insertion is defined as an error
which arises as new base pairs are inserted into the DNA sequence. These mutations can result in
either little or serious effect which can result in the loss of cell function. Little clarifies that the

The radiosensitivity of proliferating cells varies with the phase of the cell cycle. (Pawlik and
Keyomarsi. 2004). Bergonie and Tribondeau (1906) proposed the theory that the radiosensitivity
of a cell is directly proportional to how metabolically and reproductively active the cell is and
inversely proportional to how specialized the cell is. Generally, Mitosis is considered to be the
most radiosensitive stage within the cell cycle with the S stage being the most radioresistant (Sun.
2000). Mitosis is the division of a cell, involving the replication of DNA, this results in the cell
nucleus containing twice the amount of genetic material than beforehand (Marieb. 2015). The
greater amount of genetic material present in the nucleus during mitosis corresponds to the cell
being more radiosensitive as the genetic material is the most vulnerable area within the cell
(Stanford. 2013). In the statement given, Pearce et al. (2012) argues that children have a greater
risk of developing cancer due to the greater number of dividing cells and volume of red bone
marrow being exposed to significant ionising radiation exposures. This statement is comparable to
the work of Brenner (2001) who states that the expected lifetime radiation risk will be more
significant in children due to a longer lifetime expectancy, allowing a longer period for cancer to
develop. Other interpretations such as AGIR (2013) challenge this view by suggesting that the
elderly are

House Altar With Akhenaten, Nefertiti And Three Daughters

House Altar with Akhenaten, Nefertiti and Three Daughters
The art of the ancient Egyptians is known for how consistent it remained for thousands of years.
The Amarna period is significant because it was a brief shift from that consistency under the
Pharaoh Amenhotep IV, (who later changed his named to Akhenaten
) his Queen, Nefertiti and later,
Tutankhamen. They began worshipping the sun god Aten, which is evident in the art that was
commissioned. Instead of using strict registers, walls were cluttered with images. (Giuliano). An
example of this stylistic turn is the House Altar with Akhenaten, Nefertiti and Three Daughters.
The house altar is a piece that was carved into limestone during the Amarna period of the 18th
dynasty around 1350 BC. It would have been similar to the altars found in homes that the royal
couples subjects could worship. That altar features the royal couple and three of their daughters in
a domestic setting. Akhenaten and Nefertiti are depicted as the only ones with access to the god
Aten, characterized by a sun disk with a cobra engraved in it. The family scene is also warmer and
intimate than those that came before it, (Lorenz) which is marked by the parents holding their
children lovingly in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The children also appear disproportionate and are depicted as miniature compared to their
parents, which was very atypical from the traditional approach where bodies were perfectly
balanced. Another example of this type of style is the famous Nefertiti bust, which also shows the
elongated head and crown. Conversely, on a sandstone block from Theban tomb 55 of Ramose
has an example of Amenhotep IV s image in the style of his father s reign, where his features are
not distorted and are much more traditional ( Images of Amenhotep IV 89), which is in contrast to
how he is depicted in the Amarna

Sony And Its Effects On The World Essay
I.INTRODUCTION
In 2006, Sony; the second largest manufacturer of laptop batteries in the world was in the headlines
as major laptop manufacturing companies such as Apple, Dell, Compaq, and Lenovo were forced to
recall their products containing the faulty batteries manufactured by Sony, due to safety concerns.
[1], [2], [3], [4]
A.Saftey Concerns
Between December of 2005 and August of 2006 there were six fires in Dell laptop computers,
including one that burst into flames at a conference in Osaka. [1] This incident was caught on tape
and viewed worldwide, prompting Dell to recall 4.2 million laptop batters on August 14, 2016 [1],
with this number rising later in the year to almost 10 million.
Apple also recalled some 1.8 million batteries on August 24, 2006 [after] nine reports of batteries
overheating including two incidents of minor burns. [1] Companies such as Fujitsu, Lenovo and
Toshiba also reported incidents similar to the previously mentioned and undertook similar
measures. [1]
II.BACKGROUND
A.Lithium Ion Batteries
A Lithium ion battery is a battery where the negative electrode (anode) and positive electrode
(cathode) materials serve as a host for the lithium ion (Li+). Lithium ions move from the anode to
the cathode during discharge and are intercalated into (inserted into voids in the crystallographic
structure of) the cathode. The ions reverse direction during charging. [2]
In a lithium ion cell, alternating layers of anode and cathode are separated

Dreams In Langston Hughes s A Raisin In The Sun
I hope you have been having a good day! I contacted you because I wanted to tell you about my
idea for the school play. I think that A Raisin in the Sun would be a great choice for our school
play for many reasons. The play is relevant because the American dream is a major theme in it,
important because it tackles racism, and entertaining because the internal family conflicts put the
viewer on edge.
The title of this play, A Raisin in the Sun, reveals relevance to The Covenant School. The name
of the play came from a poem by Langston Hughes about the outcome of dreams that do not
become reality. The selection relating to the title reads: What happens to a dream deferred?
/ Does it dry up / like a raisin in the sun? (Langston Hughes). This quote is relevant because it is
asking what happens when we put off our dreams. As a Covenant high school student, my peers
and I have dreams for the future, and many of them will not be achieved for many reasons, like
losing motivation or not having time. All the characters in A Raisin in the Sun have dreams,
such as Walter s dream to invest in a liquor store, or Beneatha s dream to become a doctor. Most
of these dreams in the play do not become a reality, similar to most dreams that high schoolers
have. So, seeing how other people deal with their dreams helps high schoolers in dealing with their
own dreams. For example, Walter s lack of patience ended up destroying his dream, because he
gave the money to someone that he should not

A self directed workforce is where the employees manage themselves and can perform multiple
tasks. No need for a lot of middle management, because the employees will manage each other and
themselves. A company like PPG wanted to implement a self directed workforce because it saves

At least the technicians in this case would also be responsible for problem solving duties, thus
giving him more responsibility, more opportunities, and possible intrinsic rewards. Since everyone

time. This resentment is also partially due to the hiring process.
If the supporters were really self motivated, then they would consistently ask to be taught something

Celebrity Culture and Fashion Trends Although celebrity culture is typically associated with actors and actress, consumers may also rely on the trustfulness and credibility of politicians and first wives when deciding fashion trends. In the 1960s, fashion icon Jackie Kennedy took over the fashion industry (Joel 1). She appealed to many stay at home women because she was commonly known to have a sophisticated simplicity (Joel 1) approach to fashion. Her successor, First Lady Michelle Obamahas instantly become a fashion icon herself as well. She is commonly seen wearing American designers therefore pushing the American fashion industry into the international spotlight (Givhan 1). People are often so draw to her style because it gives a glance into her personal life. As Givhan states, Obama s clothes have connected with the public in contemporary terms, in the language of Hollywood s glamour, Seventh Avenue s bold entrepreneurship and the democracy of the mass market (Givhan 1). In March 2009, Michelle Obama appeared on the cover of US Vogue which showcased her dress, style, and poise (Gibson 40). • 3. Ivory Poaching Research Paper Ivory Poaching: Are Elephants Becoming Extinct? Poaching for the ivory tusks from elephants has become a more prominent idea within the past twenty years. Elephants are killed for their tusks made of ivory. These are typically used for jewelry, ornamental carvings, and art objects. (Perlez, 1989, n.p.). The elephantpopulation has slowly dwindled down throughout the years because of the poaching for ivoryand it has caused elephants in some countries to become extinct. The poaching of elephants for their tusks has driven the animal in some countries such as Sierra Leone and Senegal to the point of extinction. More than 30,000 elephants were slaughtered in Africa last year alone, 382 of them in Kenya. (Stewart, 2013n n.p.). Killing elephants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Poachers have the biggest risk involved in this, due to them actually having to kill the elephant. They can earn $50 $100 per kilogram. The higher up the chain that the ivory moves, the more the price raises and the poacher will make more money. By the time that the ivory reaches its highest level, it can earn up to $3,000 per kilogram. (Stewart, 2013, n.p.). The risks of killing elephants for their ivory tusks might be a risky job, but many poachers believe that it is worth the effort. One poacher was interviewed and he revealed that his motivation behind poaching elephants was because he was jobless. He said I was jobless. Our family had nothing. A friend lured me into it. He said if we killed an elephant, we could sell its tusks. I did that and got money. So I decided that would be my full time job. (Mutiga, 2014, n.p.). Although the benefits of poaching an elephant for their ivory tusks might seem high, they are not. Mlk s Letter To A Birmingham Jail On April 16th ,1963, MLK wrote his well known Letter from a Birmingham Jail, in order to address that if you believed in something, which was equality at that time, then you have a moral obligation to do something about it. If one does nothing about the problem, then you are part of the problem itself. This important message striked the Negro community with no alternative other than to fight for their rights as citizens and human beings. As we all know, global trade is no easy, companies cannot just ship their products to another country and sell it in the foreign market, there are many factors need to be considered and analysis. In my point of view, the factor can be separate into internal and external factors. Internal factor: Does the product sell well in the home country? If the product is not doing good in the home country, why we should try to go global? May be some boss may think the foreign country will be adopting the product better compare to the home country, and I think this is wrong. The Product is the company s core. • 6. Q1.name And Describe The Two Dominant Opposing Approaches Q1.Name and describe the two dominant opposing approaches to copyright: Copyright is the legal right, to an inventor to perform, print, publish, film, or record artistic, literary, or musical material, and to allow others to do the same. Copyright law was developed to provide the creators and inventors of any works with powerful and effective rights of exclusivity over their creations (Patterson Lindberg, 1991). Over the past, these rights were almost unlimited. People would use existing developments as if they were their own without any regard of the creator s exclusive rights. The need to balance and limit such rights arose, and governments established these limits for the general good of the public. One of the main opposing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this digital age, however, the internet has provided opportunities allowing the public to share information directly. For this reason, it has brought about many controversies, and it is considered a break of the fair use exception. People can freely share files and videos over the internet (Doctorow, 2006). The second approach to copyright is the democratic approach. All works of art are ideas built on a foundation of other ideas. The democratic approach advocates that intellectual property belongs to the society and should be available for the general good of the public. If the particular usage is intended to derive financial benefit or any other business related benefits, it is considered inappropriate usage. If the utilization of factual work were more usable than the use of someone s creative work, then that would not be fair use. There is no specified edge to the amount of quoted work that can be called fair use. The courts exercise common sense to determine if it was too much. If the utilization of the material created market or stirred a competition, and if the fair use diminishes demand for the original product, it is not considered as appropriate use (Crews, 1993). Q2. How can a propertarian approach to copyright conflict with fair use? Copyright laws have not evolved much with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Industry spending on advertising to children has exploded in the past decade, increasing from a mere $100 million in 1990 to more than $2 billion in 2000. Buzz, or street marketing, as it s also called, can help a company to successfully connect with the savvy and elusive teen market by using trendsetters to give their products cool status. Buzz marketing is particularly well suited to the Internet, where young Net promoters use newsgroups, chat rooms and blogs to spread the word about music, clothes and other products among unsuspecting users. Cognitive Bias In The Los Angeles Police Department Back in the late 1990 s the Los Angeles Police Department was hit by a scandal in which police officers in the Rampart division were accused of various crimes which ranged from planting evidence, perjury, filing false police reports and physical abuse of innocent victims and other crimes. The officers involved were in a special gang task force called CRASH (community resources against street hoodlums) which was created to combat gang related activity and crime in LAPD areas. This fits in with the oedipal complex because it can be said that unconsciously Hamlet believes that because his father is dead all his competition is gone and his mother should be his. Claudius marring his mother does not fit in with what Hamlet wants and takes his object of desire away from him. Within Act three scene four the full extent of Hamlet s feelings for his mother are expressed which make the oedipal complex behaviors in the relationship apparent due to the fact Hamlet makes numerous sexually allusions. In this scene Hamlet confronts his mother about her relationship with Claudius and her involvement in the murder of King Hamlet. Here Hamlet is actually more concerned with his mother s sexual relationship than anything else including avenging his father. Throughout most of the scene, Hamlet concentrates on his mother s sexual relationship with Claudius by making many sexual allusions and berating his mother with them. The book The Princess Bride by William Goldman is somewhat realistic fiction where characters make irrational decisions. One lesson portrayed in The Princess Bride is just because nobody has done it, doesn t mean you can t. This lesson is saying someone always has to be the first to do something (Lance). Of course this picture does not begin to characterize Hitler the man, but it does, I think, account for the elements of his style. Beginning in his Vienna period, Hitler was a voracious news paper reader. The style of the Austrian press, as Karl Kraus never wearied of pointing out, was slovenly, illogical, pretentious. Even the grammar, doubtless because of the large number of Czechs, Hungarians, and other foreigners in the trade, was uncommonly bad. Images are rare, and when they do appear, they tend to be purely verbal and impossible to visualize, like the cornerstone for the end of German domination in the monarchy or forcing the less strong and less healthy back into the womb of the eternal unknown. The mixed metaphor is almost a specialty of modern German journalism, but Hitler, with his eyes closed to the visual world, was an expert in his own right. Pohner, for example, was a thorn in the eyes of venal officials. A non German of Hitler s intellectual level would in some ways write quite differently. Germany was a land of high general culture, with the largest reading public of any country in the world. In the lower middle class, there was a tremendous educational urge. People who in other countries would read light novels and popular magazines devoured works on art, science, history, and above all philosophy. Certain philosophical phrases became journalistic cliches. Hitler is forever speaking of concepts, of things as such (an sick). Moreover, he is constantly at pains to show that he, too, is cultured. The inductive and deductive processes are the methods that we apply to use our understanding and practice in studying scriptures in the bible. The goal of the inductive processes is to understand the particulars which is based on a set of conclusive ideas. In studying bible scriptures the goal is to engage and immerse ourselves in the words of what the bible scriptures is conveying to us. The induction process to studying scriptures Is essentially a comprehensive, holistic study of the bible that takes into account every aspect of the existence of the biblical text and that intentional in allowing the Bible in its final canonical shape to speak to us on its own terms, thus leading to accurate, original, compelling, and profound interpretation and contemporary appropriation (Bauer and Traina 2006, 7). Acquiring the spiritual truth requires us to be motivated and disciplined in a manner that engages our spiritual connection to God in that As Christian believers, we are convinced that the development of a methodical, inductive approach is the means of training the mind to become a more fit instrument for the operation of God s spirit. Since the beginning of time, people have been justifying their words, actions, and thoughts. People are taught to defend their answers or explain why they hold certain beliefs in order to convince others to side with them. In other words, justification is the reasoning behind a certain concept. Justification can also be used to validate or invalidate more complex ideas such as betraying the government for freedom. One major example of justification of unjust actions occurred at the hands of the controversial Sons of Libertyduring the Revolutionary War in America when they tried to propagate rebellion. Originally known as The Loyal Nine, the Sons of Liberty was first established in the summer of 1765 in order to oppose the various taxations Great Britain had placed upon the colonies ( Sons of Liberty ; Taxation and Colonial Protests ). Even though there are some statistics that may show a lower rate of injury or death if you wear a seat belt when in an automobile accident, I do not feel that the government has the right to make wearing a seat belt mandatory for adults because by making seat belts mandatory it takes away from our right to freedom of choice, and wearing a seat... According to our text, Utilitarianism evaluates whether an act is right or wrong in terms of the act s consequences, and argues that, given a set of choices, the act we should choose is that which produces the best results for the greatest number affected by that choice. To break it down even further, the rule utilitarian contends that one should do things that, as a rule, generate the greatest good for the greatest number (Mosser, K, 2010). I believe this to be the philosophy that the government has taken into account when establishing the seat belt mandate laws. They, being those who make these types of laws, are in fact looking out for what they believe is the greater good for the majority involved. They are not taking into account our god given freedom to make these types of choices for ourselves. The possible civilization sparked his interest when a charm that the Minoans use to wear was found, and it was brought to his attention. He started at Knossos, where the possible civilization became a reality. He uncovered multiple palaces, which have all been named since then. They are named: Knossos, Phaistos, Malia, and Zakros. Each one shows signs of religion, trade, and politics. They believed these palaces controlled the Minoan civilization. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most normal morphs feed on invertebrates, whereas cannibal morphs eat a wider range of prey including conspecific and heterospecific larvae. Since tiger salamanders breed in ephemeral ponds, it is believed that environmental cues influence the frequency of cannibal morphs in a population. These cues can include high intraspecific density that leads to resource competition, pathogen and /or parasite densities in the habitat, etc. (Brunkow and Collins, 1996; Collins et al., 2003; Denoel et al., 2006; Maret and Collins, 1997; Pfennig, 1991, 1998). Gondwana Gondwana, the southern half of the ancient supercontinent Pangea and a supercontinent in its own right, was composed of the continents and landmasses that we now call Antarctica, South America, Africa, Madagascar, Australia, New Zealand, the Arabian Peninsula and the Indian subcontinent. A supercontinent is a large landmass that is made up of several continents and a subcontinent is a large distinguishable part of a continent, an example being the part of Asia which contains India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Gondwana was first formed between 570 510 Mya (million years ago) and then combined with another supercontinent, Laurasia, to form Pangea. It then split from Pangea between 280 200 Mya, with different resources stating different timeframes for this split. Around 180 165 Mya, Gondwana started to split and the continents started drifting to where they are today. Back when Gondwana existed, the climateon Earthwas milder than what it is today and the average temperature was significantly higher than the average temperature on Earth now. As a result of this climate, much of Gondwana was covered in lush temperate rainforests. The geological event that caused these continents to combine together and split apart from each other is called continental drift. The Continental Drift Theory explains how continents can move along the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 34. Causes Of Dropouts In The UAE Should I really drop out? he sadly said I think have no other choice, besides I cannot even afford it In the recent years of UAE, a good amount of students are dropping out of universities. Why are the classes getting empty? Where are the students leaving? Setting the education off the priorities is something normal now in the UAE, but from a logical point of view it should not be normal. It is safe to say that increase rate of dropouts can be added to the list of problems that UAE faces. For instance, the American University of Sharjahonce showed that 30% of students drop out after the freshmen year, and this is just one university out of many in the UAE. There are many different causes behind this problem for sure. The most important... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, Analysts polled by Reuters in 2014 showed that the average inflation in the UAE would rise by 2.5 percent in 2014, 2.7 percent 2015, and expected to accelerate more in the incoming years ( UAE Inflation, 2014, para. 2). In other words, inflation is striking in all over UAE, and paying for tuition fees is becoming harder than ever. For example, the American University of Sharjah office of registrar stated on the undergraduate catalog of 2010 2011 that the tuition fee per semester is approximately 37,000 dhs whereas the tuition fee per semester of 2016 2017 is about 50,000 dhs. A probable reason why students are dropping out is they come from a poor financial background, where the parents find some difficulties to pay the tuition fees, or they have other expenses to commit to such as rents, debts, and regular consumptions. Furthermore, a second reason could be the lack of earning scholarships or financial aids. In the recent years, universities lean towards to be pickier in the admission of the scholarships; as a result, students are forced to drop out as they rely fully on the scholarships. In my case, I had the same problem and I was not able to maintain the scholarship. I was about to drop out, but thank god I did ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. U.s. Imposes Tariffs On Chinese Solar Panels This article discusses how the U.S. imposes tariffs on Chinese solar panels due to the fact that China was dumping solar panels to the U.S market, it also considers the possible impact of these changes and attempts to assess the relative merits/drawbacks of the policy. Dumping is the selling of goods and services on foreign markets below their costof production[ http://study.com/academy /lesson/dumping in economicsdefinition effects.html]. A tariff is defined as taxation on imported goods. Dumping of Chinese solar panels on the U.S market Chinese companies were selling products below the cost of manufacture also benefiting from unfair subsidies from their government this results the domestic quantity supply of solar panels to decrease as the price of domestic supplied solar panels is higher than ones imported from China. But U.S consumers are paying a lower price when solar panels are exported to the U.S from China and consumers get more variety of choices when buying. Even if America s solar market contained no trade barriers before this, the domestic quantity supplied would still decrease from Q2 to Q1 because most domestic solar companies cannot compete with the subsidized Chinese producers. Inexpensive Chinese solar products pushed many American manufacturers out of business , causing structural unemployment in America and this will be difficult for the U.S government to deal with because this will require retraining or other initiatives which can sometimes be ... • 36. How Society Affects Obese People How Does Society Affect Obese People? It is not necessary to be an expert to know that obese people in our society are more likely to be excluded and prejudged on how well they can develop an activity. The article Obesity, Bias and Stigmatization explains the different types of stigmas our society has against obese people. Some of the discrimination methods the article mentions are verbal types such as ridicule, teasing, insults, stereotypes, derogatory names or pejorative language. Physical discrimination such as medical equipment that is too small for obese patients, chairs or seats in public venues which do not accommodate obese persons, etc. The stigmatization of obese people occurs every place, for example at work overweight people tend to be judged as lazy, less competent, and slow in their assignments. These stereotypes are an obstacle for obese people, because they cannot be promoted in their jobs. Also in school, students who are overweight are underrated by their classmates, but worst by their teachers. Nobody thinks overweight people will be stigmatizing in a hospital. Unfortunately doctors also prejudged people by their weight. (Obesity, Bias and Stigmatization) The goal is to help doctors learn how to treat obesity . The thermal conductivity has been assumed to obey the same nonlinear rheological model of the viscosity function; as well as, the viscous dissipation has been comprised in the energy equation. The governing PDEs are reduced to a set of ODEs; using the generalized Von Karman similarity transformations; for which finite difference numerical scheme is implemented based on its associated boundary conditions. The influence of the non Newtonian fluid characteristics on the distributions of fluid velocity components, temperature and concentration of suspended nanoparticles has been analyzed. • 38. Kate Chopin s The Story Of An Hour Considered one of American s foremost feminist authors, Kate Chopin addresses issues challenging to the social and gender roles of the late 1800s. She celebrates women who seek their own identity and focuses on individual journeys of self discovery. Her short story The Story of an Hour has a unique structure in that it adheres to a realistic premise, yet contains a protagonist who represents idealism. Faced with the news that her husband has died, Mrs. Mallard takes ownership of her own emotions and strength to control her life. However, her emotional revelation emerges only upon her husband s supposed death. Chopin juxtaposes physical death with emotional freedom, suggesting actions and feelings are determined by social, psychological, and emotional forces instead of individual will. In order to show the fragility of Mrs. Mallard and her idealism, Chopin creates a microcosm in Mrs. Mallard s bedroom of solidarity; a world of freedom and choice within the bedroom and the world of deterministic forces on the other side of the door. Through the setting, Chopin explores the dichotomy between the desire to change one s situation and the possibility to change one s situation. In a realistic perspective, one is cautious of the truth as it cannot be changed by any means and determines one s fate. As the news of Brently Mallard s death arrives, family and friends are apprehensive to deliver the news to Mrs. Mallard. The caution, however, does not stem from genuine concern for her ... • 41. Tutankhamun Burial Ancient Egypt revolved around the belief that one was reborn after death and would be guaranteed eternal life if the body was preserved and buried properly. Tutankhamun became a pharaoh of Egypt at the age of nine during the 18th Dynasty. His rain lasted approximately 10 years when he died unexpectedly and consequently his tomb and burial was rushed leaving him with a much smaller and less impressive tomb that was common for 18th dynasty tombs. Tutankhamuns tomb was discovered still sealed by British archaeologist Howard Carter in 1922 in the Valley of the Kings. It was choreographed by Amy Michelle Allen, Marco A, Carreon, Sarah Cashmore, Jeff Hendrix, Erin Landry, Doris Ressl Acosta, and Kenneth Walker, with the long cast of dancers. The production was pleasing, and would not have been believable without the work from production designers, Frederick Depontee and Cheryl Sheldon. • 48. Taxing Taxation And The Tax System In the United States, taxing is a large source of funding for many programs. Taxes are instituted to all U.S. citizens by the government for government programs. Without taxes roads, buildings, public services, and much more would not be accessible to everyone. Yet, as simple as a tax sounds, there are several different qualifications and standards that make it more complicated (Weigant). There are several different taxsystems, only two used in the United States: regressive and progressive taxation. Regressive taxation is a tax system where the proportion of income paid in taxes decreases as one s income increases. Progressive taxation is a tax system where individuals or families that have a higher percentage of income will pay more in taxes. Not only does the tax dollars increase, but the tax rates also increases. In conjunction with these tax systems, there is also a proportional tax, which means all individuals or families pay the same rate of income despite their income (Roach). Within these tax systems are various types of taxes imposed by the United States government. In 1913, the sixteenth amendment legalized the first income tax proposed by the federal government that was levied on wages and salaries. The federal government will only tax a portion of the total income, which is all the sum acquired by an individual or family from all sources of work. The nunnery at Chelles is famous for having cultivated the art of writing. 1 The story of the journey of this codex is unknown. From the nunnery in France, this codex spent time in the library of Queen Christina of Sweden, before heading to the Vatican Library. But other than these three location, the whereabouts of this book through the century are unknown. What is known is this codex was made for priest not bishops and was used in Roman churches in the seventh century. 2 Also, it has not, however, reached us in its original form, but with modifications and additions made by generation after generation. 3 The two pages are strikingly similar. They both use the same color scheme of red outlines, with red, blue, green and yellow decorations. The figures used on both pages are similar, crosses, birds, horses, fish, and felines. Also, the stylistic choice of putting figures inside circles was reoccurring. In the Frontispice, the image on the left, there is a decorative arch encasing a cross. Shown in recent statistics, is that younger people, who are over 15 (as children under this age are usually forced by parents), do not participate in religious activity as much as the older generation excluding the over 65s group, this is usually because they cannot get to church easily due to ill health and disabilities. Brierley supports the idea of an older generation by showing that the average age of church goers in 1979 was 37 which increased to 49 in 2005, clearly showing a trend towards an older congregation. Heelas also found that those involved with the New Age Movements were mainly middle aged or older; again supporting the recent trend. In the past this did not happen, the older generation just had traditional beliefs and religions suggesting why it may seem that there is more religious participation by the older generation as young people see the traditional beliefs as outdated e.g. views on homosexuality and sex before marriage, so would rather turn to sects and cults, which is hard to measure in terms of participation. They may also turn to these sects particularly if the young people feel socially marginalised and insecure e.g. the Moonies and the Children of God are sects which target such people. In addition to this, middle aged people who grew up in the 60s counter culture may also find groups like NAMs fit in with their lifestyle and beliefs; rejecting the recent trend. What is certain however, is that young people today are far less likely to have a religious socialisation from parents and schools. They have grown up in a consumerist, materialist society and look for satisfaction through these things rather than a future in heaven implying that consumerism could be the new religion of our time. Moreover, one cannot just assume that it is the young generation that is losing importance over religion, secularisation trends show that it is the whole of society. This is because of desacralisation and the development of science in which more people are turning to science and rational thinking. Young people are just more prone to this due to ... If sufficient damage to DNA is achieved, chromosome abnormalities may be noted, the damaged DNA can attempt to repair itself, sometimes forming patterns dissimilar to its prior layout. Karaman et al (2005) describes the removal of one or more nitrogenous bases within the DNA sequence as a deletion error. Substitution is explicated as an error which occurs when one base pair is replaced by another and insertion is defined as an error which arises as new base pairs are inserted into the DNA sequence. These mutations can result in either little or serious effect which can result in the loss of cell function. The radiosensitivity of proliferating cells varies with the phase of the cell cycle. (Pawlik and Keyomarsi. 2004). Bergonie and Tribondeau (1906) proposed the theory that the radiosensitivity of a cell is directly proportional to how metabolically and reproductively active the cell is and inversely proportional to how specialized the cell is. Generally, Mitosis is considered to be the most radiosensitive stage within the cell cycle with the S stage being the most radioresistant (Sun. 2000). Mitosis is the division of a cell, involving the replication of DNA, this results in the cell nucleus containing twice the amount of genetic material than beforehand (Marieb. 2015). The greater amount of genetic material present in the nucleus during mitosis corresponds to the cell being more radiosensitive as the genetic material is the most vulnerable area within the cell (Stanford. 2013). In the statement given, Pearce et al. (2012) argues that children have a greater risk of developing cancer due to the greater number of dividing cells and volume of red bone marrow being exposed to significant ionising radiation exposures. This statement is comparable to the work of Brenner (2001) who states that the expected lifetime radiation risk will be more significant in children due to a longer lifetime expectancy, allowing a longer period for cancer to develop. They began worshipping the sun god Aten, which is evident in the art that was commissioned. Instead of using strict registers, walls were cluttered with images. (Giuliano). An example of this stylistic turn is the House Altar with Akhenaten, Nefertiti and Three Daughters. The house altar is a piece that was carved into limestone during the Amarna period of the 18th dynasty around 1350 BC. It would have been similar to the altars found in homes that the royal couples subjects could worship. That altar features the royal couple and three of their daughters in a domestic setting. Akhenaten and Nefertiti are depicted as the only ones with access to the god Aten, characterized by a sun disk with a cobra engraved in it. The family scene is also warmer and intimate than those that came before it, (Lorenz) which is marked by the parents holding their children lovingly in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The children also appear disproportionate and are depicted as miniature compared to their parents, which was very atypical from the traditional approach where bodies were perfectly balanced. Another example of this type of style is the famous Nefertiti bust, which also shows the elongated head and crown. Conversely, on a sandstone block from Theban tomb 55 of Ramose has an example of Amenhotep IV s image in the style of his father s reign, where his features are not distorted and are much more traditional ( Images of Amenhotep IV 89), which is in contrast to how he is depicted in the Amarna ... Lithium ions move from the anode to the cathode during discharge and are intercalated into (inserted into voids in the crystallographic structure of) the cathode. The ions reverse direction during charging. [2] In a lithium ion cell, alternating layers of anode and cathode are separated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Dreams In Langston Hughes s A Raisin In The Sun I hope you have been having a good day! I contacted you because I wanted to tell you about my idea for the school play. I think that A Raisin in the Sun would be a great choice for our school play for many reasons. The play is relevant because the American dream is a major theme in it, important because it tackles racism, and entertaining because the internal family conflicts put the viewer on edge. The title of this play, A Raisin in the Sun, reveals relevance to The Covenant School. The name of the play came from a poem by Langston Hughes about the outcome of dreams that do not become reality. The selection relating to the title reads: What happens to a dream deferred? / Does it dry up / like a raisin in the sun? (Langston Hughes). This quote is relevant because it is asking what happens when we put off our dreams. As a Covenant high school student, my peers and I have dreams for the future, and many of them will not be achieved for many reasons, like losing motivation or not having time. All the characters in A Raisin in the Sun have dreams, such as Walter s dream to invest in a liquor store, or Beneatha s dream to become a doctor. Most of these dreams in the play do not become a reality, similar to most dreams that high schoolers have. So, seeing how other people deal with their dreams helps high schoolers in dealing with their own dreams. For example, Walter s lack of patience ended up destroying his dream, because he gave the money to someone that he should not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No need for a lot of middle management, because the employees will manage each other and themselves. A company like PPG wanted to implement a self directed workforce because it saves them money in the long run. The workers union in a non self directed workforce gave them headaches. The workers were only allowed to perform one job task. It prevented them from working efficiently. If a machine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At least the technicians in this case would also be responsible for problem solving duties, thus giving him more responsibility, more opportunities, and possible intrinsic rewards. Since everyone is a technician, I bet they would have more of a team atmosphere. Everyone would be equally responsible for a project. Plus, everyone would have opportunities become senior technicians over time. This resentment is also partially due to the hiring process. If the supporters were really self motivated, then they would consistently ask to be taught something they don t know. PPG 5 Coordinators worrying about working themselves out of a job: Similar to Kerr s motivation problem, Kerr had several examples where a motivation leads to a negative or oppositely intended action. They need to be assured that their job is secure. The plant has a finite size, so there will need to be a finite number of coordinators. Have that number be guaranteed so no coordinators will be let go. Make sure coordinators train a certain number of people every day/week/month. That ll help them secure their job. Plus, get rewards for training. Let them know, there s always room for improvement. There are an infinite number of projects that need to be coordinated all of the time. 360 degree evaluation process might work here. A 36 week job rotation: The solution to this problem is to increase more ergonomic equipment and
