Not So Sane In Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse Five
Not So Sane Billy
Imagine having your whole mental health being completely obliterated from events you have taken
part in a World War. In the story of Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut, this exact situation
happens to the main character, Billy Pilgrim. In fact, Mr. Pilgrim is crazed because his skills and
views including Tralfamadorians are nonviable. Also, Billy s episodes from the war have led to his
irregular beliefs. Although Kurt Vonnegutexpresses that Billy Pilgrim knows a great deal about
Tralfamadorians, readers are meant to believe that he is completely insane. As a matter of fact,
Billy s various claims and stories clearly express how hysterical he actually is.
First, Billy claims that he has special inhuman characteristics that do not make any sense. Billy ...

To demonstrate his time travel, consider the following excerpt:
Billy blinked in 1965, traveled in time to 1958. He was at a banquet in honour of a Little League
team of which his son Robert was a member. The coach, who had never been married, was
speaking. He was all choked up. Honest to God, he was Saying, I d consider it an honor just to be
waterboy for these kids. Billy blinked in 1958, traveled in time to 1961. It was New Year s Eve,
and Billy was disgracefully drunk at a party where everybody was in optometry or married to an
optometrist. (Vonnegut 24)
In the quotation above, Billy says that he can time travel by simply blinking. I have been alive
for sixteen years now, and have not met a human or heard of anyone who can do anything like
this, so one can infer that Billy cannot have an acceptable mental health. Billy Pilgrim also says
that he knows all of the details of his death, and has a designated place for them in the next quote.
As a time traveler, he has seen his own death many times,

The Apple Vs. Samsung War
The Apple vs. Samsung War
This paper will give us an overview of the patent infringement war between the world s two
biggest smartphone makers Apple Inc. and Samsung. For the last three years, these two
technology giants have clashed on a scale unheard of in the history of the business world, their
licit war costing more than a billion dollars and spanning four continents. For the purpose of this
paper, I will go back to where the Apple vs. Samsung saga began, back in April 2011. The main
objective of this paper is to analyze the different types of intellectual property infringements that had
been claimed by Apple Inc. against Samsung Electronics Co.

Apple claimed that there were four types of infringements to its protectable intellectual property
1. Some Trade dress infringements on the look and packaging of the iPhone and iPads Trade dress
is a product s physical appearance (size, shape, design, color and feel). It also includes the way it
has been packaged or wrapped, presented, promoted or advertised. Trade dress infringement is
basically making the trade dress of two businesses sufficiently similar, confusing consumers about
what they are buying. To establish a claim for trade dress a business must prove the uniqueness of
its product s appearance.
2. Several Trademark infringements on the iOS system app icons A trademark is a name, design or

substantially or entirely, it gives the owner the right to cause of action against the infringer. In order
to succeed in a trademark infringement action, the owner must show that the use of the mark

infringement, the usual course of action in such

Analysis Of An Eye Who Is The Whole World Go Blind
An eye for an eye makes the whole world go blind. Ghandi. The story of Dawn reinforces this well
known quote by demonstrating the heavy silence of murder and it s feeble justifications.
A few years after the Holocaust, one of it s victims, Elisha, is recruited from his home in Paris as a
terrorist in the city of Palestine. In his short time there, he has participated in violent group
retaliation against the British, yet has never been forced to kill individually until now. This story
documents the tale of a young boy s struggle to come to term with the human s ability to commit
cruel acts, as well as his struggle to justify the ultimate act of cruelty: murder. Within it s startling
revelations of the human conscience, Dawn illuminates that the comforts of revenge are only
temporary; murder terminates all answers.
With this, the author, Elie Wiesel, is able crumble the foundations of terrorisms and the reasoning
that hate can ever resolve hate in his first novel, called Dawn.
Dawn takes place in Palestine, a place where the Jewish community wakes up to a red, vengeful
sky. After surviving the Holocaustthe main character, Elisha, has been recruited as a terrorist for
the Freedom Movement. For Elisha, who is now without a family, the Freedom Movement
represents a new dawn, an act of hope, and most importantly, a retaliation in the name of faith to
secure what s rightfully his peoples. However, daybreak presents Elisha with a more tortured
reality; he has been

Three of the character traits I describe Napoleon are hypocrite, weak, and a great leader. Napoleon

idea of the windmill, he later on ordered the animalsof the creation of the windmill. Without his
subordinate, Squealer, the animals would have suspected something about him. Once again the
animals were conscious of a vague uneasiness. Never to have any dealings with human beings...

Civil Service Research Paper
I believe that high school graduates should not be required a year of service before going to
college. Some students, by choice, will join the military or civil services; others may already be
set on a career they want to achieve. For example if someone wants to be a doctor, they already
have many years of school ahead of them. But, if students are not attending collegeimmediatley
following high school, they should be required a year of service. As a result, students are able to
learn valuable life lessons and give themselves a better life. For example they learn to be flexible,
make safe decisions, and self direct themselves. Students that are already set on going to college,
however, should not need to serve due to the commitment it takes.... Show more content on

Making a difference is a marathon, not a sprint, (gogoverment.org). Likewise, going into a civil
service job is not going to make you a ton of money like you may believe. Being in the civil service
or military takes for a lot of patience.
Joining the military or civil services after graduating can also be a very beneficial thing and
provides valuable life skills to students. It is important for students to serve there country and get
a feel for what the military is like. For example the military teaches you to be a leader and how to
work as a team, including all sorts of different personalities. Additionally, in most military branches
you can receive education. Now you can serve, and get an education. However, this would force
you to serve longer than one year.
In conclusion, I believe that you should not have to complete a civil service for a year after
graduating high school. In my opinion, it is good to get through college first so you can get a
career, then if you wish to serve for a year you have something to fall back on. There is many
benefits of joining the military, but there are many risks too. Not being in the military would allow
you to focus on your college studies and your career that lies

Since U Went Away
Name: Course: Instructor: Date: An Explication of James Weldon Johnson s Poem, Since You
Went Away The poem, Since You Went Away (Sence You Went Away), depicts James Weldon
Johnson as one who reckoned with the fact that the one person (or object) that someone loves
most can make everything seem so beautiful when they are around and so out of order when they
are gone. All through the poem, James Weldon Johnson paints images that would, in normal
occasions, be used to express an air of contentment in someone s life. However, he goes on to turn
the tables around by giving all these images some faults; for example, there are stars but they no

The persona completed this stanza by telling us that he does not know what to do, showing us
how much of a dilemma he is in. In the third stanza, the persona emphasizes the point that
everything seems to be going wrong. He adds that the days are twice as long and the birds have
forgotten their song. This only shows us that the persona probably experiences sleepless nights
and awaits for morning with much eagerness the birds seem to take longer to announce that
morning has come by their singing (Johnson 1). To collaborate this with the idea that everything
reminded the persona of the departed, it seems that the persona spends his days and nights
thinking about the dear person or object. The fourth stanza begins by collaborating the third
stanza where the persona tells us that there is nothing he can do to better his situation; therefore,
he only sighs. As we go on to the second and third lines of the fourth stanza, we see that the
persona s life is disoriented. He uses the description of his physical functions to show how altered
they have become. His throat, which should be wet, is dry while his eyes, which should not be
full of tears, are welling up with tears (Johnson 1). This shows us that the departure of the special

The Romantic Era Of Felix Mendelssohn
During the romantic era, there were many great composers that made the Romantic period the
most innovative in music history. But Felix Mendelssohn is often viewed as a Classical Romantic
composer, whose style paradoxically incorporated elements of formal balance and graceful control
on the one hand, and romantic subjectivity and fantasy on the other. Felix Mendelssohn (Jakob
Ludwig Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy) was a German composer, pianist, musical conductor, and
teacher, and one of the most celebrated figures of the early Romantic period. Through his music,
he largely observed Classical models and practices while initiating key aspects of Romanticism.
Mendelssohn was born of Jewish parents, Abraham and Lea Salomon Mendelssohn, who he first
learned piano from. In 1811, during the French occupation of Hamburg, the family had moved to
Berlin, where Mendelssohn studied the piano with Ludwig Berger and composition with Carl
Friedrich Zelter, who, as a composer and teacher, exerted an enormous influence on his
development. Later he traveled with his sister Paris, where he took further piano lessons and where
he appears to have become acquainted with the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Mendelssohn
was an exceptionally gifted musical composer. A prodigy, reared in a highly cultured atmosphere,
began composing at age 10, presented his orchestral compositions to illustrious audiences at the
family estate. He wrote numerous compositions during his boyhood, among them 5 operas, 11

Reflection On Behavior Intervention
Reflection
I do not feel that I have sufficient data to make an informed decision on the effectiveness of this
intervention for Adam. However, I would conclude that my attempt at a behavior intervention was
unsuccessful. This was due to a variety of reasons. The foremost reason being to inconsistent
application of the intervention. At times, weeks passed between trials. As we have learned,
intervention is successful when it is implemented regularly.
It was unwise to set my intervention monitoring in an environment which I have no control over
and for a small window of time, for a specific type of instruction. Instruction is not given at a set
period of time, as I had thought when collecting my baseline data. Adam s general education
teacher often has them do individual work, then moves to whole group instruction, at which point I
need to leave. Furthermore, there are a great deal of holidays during autumn, so students were often
participating in the arts, rather than math. These issues could have potentially been avoided if I had
spoken to his general education teacher about her schedule, but I did not. Further consultation could
have helped this project to be successful.
The token board may have not been the most appropriate intervention for what I was doing. I
chose this intervention because both Adam and I are familiar with it. Further, I had planned to
increase the duration overtime. My plan was, for the first week or two, I would have my student
focus for one minute

Maple Syrup Urine Disease Analysis

Maple Syrup Urine disease
Maple syrup urine disease (MSUD) is a rare genetic disorder characterized by deficiency of certain
enzymes (branched chain alpha keto acid dehydrogenase complex) required to break down
(metabolize) specific amino acids in the body.(WebMD, 2015)
History
MSUD was first brought up by a pediatrician by John Menkes in 1954. He first noticed it by
observing a family that happened to have several cases of MSUD. In the study he had lost four
babies within three months. Physicians and biochemists both worked as a pair to define this
inborn error of metabolism. In history these problems in nature acted as a tool for investors as a
genetic tool to tell us unknown pathways and why MSUD is used as this role for BCAA(in ... Show

The odor is caused when someone is not able to metabolize the branched chain a ketoacid (BCKA).
This problem happens because of their branch chain amino acids (BCAA); leucine, isoleucine, and
valine.
Other Problems Associated With Maple Syrup Urine Disease(Diet) Leucine is not a good acid
to to have while having MSUD, but it is a necessary amino acid that you need to have. It is the
most toxic of the BCAA and it is in foods in higher percentages than valine or isoleucine. Every
patient is different so their tolerance of leucine has to be calculated to follow the measurement of
BCAA levels. Then it has to be remeasured at the correct intervals for the first six to 12 months.
(Diet.com, 2004)
Risk Factors The National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) says that MSUD happens
to males and females at the same rate. The risk of having any form of MSUD depends if your
parents have this disorder or not. If both of the parents have the disorder, each child has a 25
percent chance of getting two mutated genes and getting MSUD, the child would have a 50 percent
chance from getting one normal gene from each parent. The parent or parents are not able to pass
on the gene to their children if they have two normal genes for MSUD. (Healthline,

The European Union And Domestic Legal Systems And The...
The concern here was that the lawyers do not have any certifications, schooling, or experience in
judging cases. In the new ICS proposal there are changed made, as EU Commissioner Cecilia
Malmstrom explains:
the judges will be publically appointed in advance. And, like in courts, you won t be able to choose
which judges hear your case. Furthermore, we will guarantee there is no conflict of interest. Again,
like in domestic and international courts, the judges won t be able to continue any activities which
might interfere with their judicial functions. Finally, I want to introduce an Appeal Tribunal. Just
like in domestic legal systems and the World Trade Organization. (Malmstrom)
This change in the appointment of judges could mean that the public opinion in a case could be
more weighted by shifting the power from the companies to the international system. The European
Union brings the reforms on ISDS as a solution to a system that was broken. But, there is much
discussion about the necessity of a framework like ISDS and the ICS. Especially for high
developed countries there might be less reason for an Investor State court since their court systems
are already able to make unbiased decisions. European commissioner on Trade, Rupert Schiegelmig,
responded to this argument in a debate about the new ICS. Schiegelmich explained that even
though these court systems are highly developed, it is very hard to completely eliminate national
bias. He adds to that that European

Ethical Issue Of Animal Testing For Medical Research
he ethical issue of animal testing for medical testing is not new, for example the majority of the
common vaccines were developed because medical research that utilized animal testing. Many
philosophers have attempted to explain the rights of animals and some wrote on the lack of
inherent rights. This issue is difficult because animals can t speak for themselves but humans do
have a place to play in the fight for animal rights. I will apply the principle of utility along with the
moral theories of equality and speciesism in order show that animal testing for medical research is
not an ethical practice.
Principle of Utility
Utilitarianism is an ethical theory that argues that all people should act in ways that bring about as
much happiness as possible in the world and minimize pain. Mills (a supporter of utilitarianism)
wrote that no matter the situation the right action would be the action that tended to minimize the
suffering and pain, and maximize the pleasure and happiness, of all interested parties. Mills also
thought that the suffering, pain, pleasure and happiness of animals should be protected and
included in utilitarianism. Practically speaking, animal testing isn t just done to one or two animals
during an experiment but to a large number of them, animals are tortured and subjected to pain in
order to test medicines, medical treatments and more. I believe that animal testing when seen
through the utilitarian lens is flawed an corrupt. Animal Liberation written by

The Existence Of God In Beowulf
In history, many cultures have accepted the existence of God(s), such as Greece and they are
described as a helper or enemy of people. For example, in ancient Greece, various Gods are
involved in the fights to support a group of people or go against them. Similarly, in the Anglo
Saxon text, Beowulf, the poet refers to Godas the protector of Beowulf and someone who oversees
everything, while describing God as a punisher of Grendel the monster. It is apparent that the
author is Christian by showing spirituality in the book. In addition, the poet provides many details
in the story that concerns with spirituality and considers God as the sole entity controlling
everything and the characters in Beowulf are either with or against him. In Beowulf, the monster
Grendel is referred to being related to the story of Cain and Abelfrom the bible. These two brothers

Everybody in the Cain s clan is cursed only by God and because one of their ancestors committed
a sin. The poet incorporates these Christian stories to give reasons to why the Danes hate Grendel
and excludes him from society. On the other side, God protects people like Beowulf because he
shows courage, honesty, pride, and humility.
Moreover, the poet includes abundant Christian references in Beowulf, such as indicating that
God protected and supported Beowulf. Beowulf, opposite of Grendel, is favored by god because he
showed courage by helping the Danes to kill Grendel. He also shows bravery when he says:
As God is my witness, I would rather my body were robed in the same burning blaze as my gold

American Relations During The 21st Century Essay
It is undeniable that the mutual animosity between the United States of America (USA) and the
Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) played a significant role in characterising international
relations during the latter half of the 20th Century. On the other hand, it appears that the economic
and political interactions between the People s Republic of China (PRC) and the USA will
characterise international relations in the 21st Century. As a result, this essay asserts that the claim
of a Sino American Cold Waris true to a limited extent; as there has been hostility between the
PRC and the USA in the past. However, to a much larger extent, Sino American relations in the

thus countering the claim of a Sino American Cold War significantly. To develop this claim, this
essay will analyse a number of factors. First, this essay explores the ideological, political and
economic facets of Russo American relations in the Cold War s earlier stages (1945 70). This will
be done as to establish the nature of relations between the superpowers. Conversely, this essay will
then analyse the ideological, political and economic facets of Sino American relations during the

Features Of Entrepreneurs And Risk Taking
Characteristic features of Entrepreneurs
Brian identified the entrepreneur as a person who is optimistic, future oriented, thinking that
achievement is conceivable and being open to attempting risky methods to accomplish their
objectives of benefits. They are capable of succeeding their objectives of benefits by trying
different methods and also changing quickly as they get new data. (Brian Tracy, 2005)
Entrepreneurs and risk taking
Risk taking is a part of entrepreneurial life. Due to this reason entrepreneurs have to have a risk
taking spirit, because not taking risks can kill an enterprise before it gets off the ground. Dr.
Shailendra Vyakarnam (2013) adds that entrepreneurs are people who also know their limitations.
As entrepreneurs take risks, what they mostly come across are uncertainty and imperfect
information.
Uncertainty and its importance by Entrepreneurs
According to the Business Word Reference (2015); uncertainty is a circumstance where the current
condition of learning is such that the request or nature of things is obscure, the outcomes, degree or
greatness of circumstances, conditions or occasions is eccentric.
The announcement what s to come is dubious is a conspicuous one of course it is. In
administration we cannot recognize what is going to happen or when or what the effect of it will
be. We can assemble data and break down it to attempt to see better what may happen and what the
outcomes may be, however we can never know beyond any doubt. An

1041 films were produced in India in 2006 whereas USA produced just 815 films ( World Film
Market Trends , 2007). With 27% share of India s total entertainment industry revenues,
Bollywood hugely impacts the music, video, television and live entertainment sectors). The
rapid growth of the industry in recent years has been phenomenal. The revenues grew 360% in
the period 1998 2005 and 58% in 2001 2005. It continues to dose in recent years and the annual
growth rate can reach as high as 40% by the end of 2015. (PWC FICCI, 2014). Hence, with over
a thousand movies releasing every year, it s understandable that a large amount of money is
riding on the industry and the show runners want to be ahead of the curve. Every movie is seen
as a new product and its launch needs to be advertised and promoted, to create awareness, and
draw the audience to the theatres thereby increasing the revenue collection. Here comes into play
the magic of marketing. As of September 2014, the number of active internet users in India was
58.3 million ( Internet Users in India , 2015). Hence, online marketing is emerging as an
increasingly effective way for Bollywood to reach its audience as SNSs, web portals, blogs,
streaming services are becoming popular. Mobile phone users are being presented with Bollywood

Fredrick Douglass Essay
The purpose behind Fredrick Douglass s Narrative was to appeal to the other abolitionists who he
wanted to convince that slave owners were wrong for their treatment of other human beings. His
goal was to appeal to the middle class people of that time and persuade them to get on board with
the abolitionist movement. Douglass had a great writing style that was descriptive as well as
convincing. He stayed away from the horrific details of the time, which helped him grasp the
attention of the women who in turn would convince their husbands to help by donating money and
eventually ending slavery. He used his words effectively in convincing the readers that the slave
owners were inhuman and showed how they had no feelings for other human... Show more content

This meant that these bastard children were slaves despite their paternal heritage because their
mother was a slave. The effect of this revelation was to shock and offend the morals of the
conservative Northern whites. Northern society scorned people in adulterous and interracial
relationships. By portraying these Southerners as immoral and adulterous, Douglass wanted to
cultivate in his audience a damaging opinion of southern slaveholders (Quarles ix).
Continuing with the theme of family values, Douglass shifts to the basic family unit. Their master
separated Douglass and his mother when he was an infant, for what reason he does not know
(Douglass 2). No one gave Douglass an explanation because this situation was customary on
plantations. Douglass wanted to horrify his Northern white readers by informing them that
slaveholders regularly split slave families for no apparent reason. This obviously would upset
Northerners because the family unit was the foundation for their close knit communities. Multiple
generations and extended families lived together or near each other. It was unimaginable to the
readers that a society existed that took children away from their mothers without reason.
Northerners would think of anyone who was part of such a society as a heartless monster (Quarles
ix).
Another example of how Douglass used family values against southern slaveholders was in the
treatment of his grandmother. When Douglass s master decided

Fuel Usage Of Electric Vehicles
Introduction
In 2015, transport energy demand in New Zealand was up 2305.56 GWh, the largest annual
increase in 20 years (MBIE, 2016). This energy came from non renewable fossil fuels, and as such
is not sustainable in the long term. The subject of this research is to investigate the impact of
targeting 20% of the light passenger fleet being electric.
The current electric vehicle fleet is less than 1% of the light passenger fleet, which consists
mainly of petrol and diesel vehicles (Ministry of Transport (MoT), 2016). If the New Zealand
government hopes to increase this figure to 20%, one of the main driving factors is reducing fossil
fuel consumption.
At face value, electric vehicles are the solution to reducing fossil fuel usage in the ... Show more

Vehicle fleet data (MoT, 2015) reveal that 29,249 million kilometres were travelled by 2,811,703
light passenger vehicles (LPV) on petrol. Hence, the average km travelled per LPV was:29,249
million kilometres2,811,703 LPV=10402.69 km/LPV The average light petrol fleet fuel economy
in 2015 was 9.59 L(petrol)/100km (MoT, 2015). Thus, on average, each LPV used:
10402.69 km/LPV9.59 L(petrol)/100km =997.91 L(petrol)/LPV Hence, the total petrol consumed
by 20% of vehicles in the LPF is:
997.91 L(petrol)/LPV603,624 LPV=602.36 million L(petrol)
Consequently, this means that electric vehicles will save about 600 million litres per year if they
replaced 20% of the LPF. Furthermore, in terms of CO2 emissions this equates to: 22.9619.59 L
/100km10402.69 km/LPV603624 LPV=13,826,796.2 kgCO2 not emitted from petrol consumption
per year.
Total fossil fuel offset
While electric vehicles do not directly burn fossil fuels, electricity production does. As a result, the
total fossil fuel offset from electric vehicles is less than the fossil fuels burned when using petrol
vehicles.
A popular electric vehicle in NZ is the Nissan Leaf (MoT, 2017). The following calculations use
the specifications of this car, which has an energy consumption rate of 18.7 kWh/100 km (US
Department of Energy, 2017). For an electric vehicle (EV) to travel the same distance annually as a
typical light passenger petrol vehicle, the amount of energy consumed is:

The Pros And Cons Of Nonviolent Resistance
No inherent difference. Reinhold Niebuhr s objections of nonviolent resistance was incoherent.
Niebuhr put forth the belief that there is no inherent moral difference between violent, and
nonviolent forms of resistance, but rather that it was a matter of degree or effectiveness. King
points out that Niebuhr s objection is distorted as there is a vast difference between nonresistance
and nonviolent resistance. Nonviolenceis not having blind faith in something greater, but rather the

Accounting Principles and Health Care Essay
Accounting Principles and Health Care

Accounting Principles and Health Care There are no formal accounting principles that apply to
health care. However, there are five generally accepted guiding principles used in the management
of the financial aspects of health care management (Cleverly, Song Cleverly, 2011). Understanding
the five guiding principles are important in understanding financial information and managerial
accounting and how the principles relate to health care (Cleverly et. al.). The five principles
include, accounting entity, money measurement, duality, cost valuation, and stable monetary unit.

Assets are the resources that the organization has and the money generated. Liabilities are
resources that are owed for services, supplies and other things that the organization has acquired.
The ideal goal of any business is for the assets to be greater than the liabilities (Cleverly et. al.).
Duality Duality is a simple mathematical equation or rather, it seems simple. The equation states,
The value of assets must always equal the combined value of liabilities and residual interest,
which we have called net assets. (Cleverly et. al. pg. 185 para.1) This requires balancing reports
about changes in either side of the equation. In health care, for instance, changes such as buying
supplies, receiving payment for services, or paying the electric bill are all transactions that
require balancing the books, so to speak, so that the equation is still equal. Cost Valuation Cost
Valuation can be defined as choosing the right price for services, supplies and other things of
value (Hutton, 2005). Choosing the right price may be based on the history of what the entity
has paid that is reflected by money measurement or may be based on other measures of what a
cost should be (Cleverly et. al.). Market value is a way to assess a cost value. This seems to be
favorite way with many organizations. This method is not considered

isolated and lonely in his empty house, and just thought about his life. He lost the love of his life,

Meno s Interpretation Of Virtue
Yes, I do agree with Meno s first instinct, as even I would not be able to recount the interpretation
of virtue in its entirety. Meno interprets virtue as to find joy in beautiful things and have power.
(Meno) Even more so, Meno believes that virtue varies in relation to men, women and children.
However, in reality, having virtuesimply means to maintain and uphold good moral values and
characteristics. For example, patience is said to be a virtue. Other virtues can be seen as bravery,
charity, commitment, compassion, dignity, grace and honesty. I agree with Socrates when he states
that virtue is the same for everyone. With that said, on the other hand, not every individual
possesses all of the numerous virtues. This is because not every

Participation Of A Democratic System Of Governance
Participation is more of how the youths conduct themselves during election in helping them make
informed decisions. Participation requires that the youth be at the Centre of decision making
processes. This is critical because in a democratic system of governance, rule by the people is the
underlying and founding principle of democracy . Engagement is about making them become
agents of change, helping them ascend to decision making institutions.
Opportunities for youth to participate in political processes depend largely on the political and
cultural context. A democratic environment can be more favorable to participation in general. For
the most part, promoting youth participation needs to be geared towards achieving levels relative to
those of the rest of the population.
The focus on youth, in terms of their engagement in the political arena, is a relatively new priority
but extremely timely, particularly in light of recent events and democratic transitions.
Objectives
To train the youth to actively participate in elective position and governance
To increase the number of youths registering as political party members
To promote youth friendly community based development planning exercises in a participative and
inclusive manner (youth advisory boards)
To encourage the youths be agent of change in good governance and accountability

The Contributions Of Women In The American Civil War .
The Contributions of Women in the American Civil War
The Civil War was a divisive time in American history that tore the country in half for five long
years (1861 1865). After the election of Abraham Lincoln, the southern states seceded from the
north and formed the Confederate States of America because they saw their way of life being
threatened. They wanted to fight for their right to have slaves and for states to have more power.
The North (Union) fought because secession wasn t an option and they needed to preserve the
country as a union. Lincoln called on the men in the North to fight this war, but there was also an

Several studies have found a significant positive relationship between these variables and a strong
association with alcoholrelated problems for high and moderate level of social anxiety (Ham et

In 1492, when Michelangelo was 17 years old, Lorenzo died and the school broke up. After
Lorenzo s death, Michelangelo worked mainly independently for rulers and religious leaders in
Italy. His first commission was for three marble figures for the tomb of St. Dominic in 1494.
Michelangelo left Florence and fled to Bologna before Charles VIII invaded Florence. It was
here in Bologna that Michelangelo carved an angle for the tomb. He returned to Florence for a
short time in 1495 and carved the Cupid and a St. John. On June 25 of the following year,
Cardinal Riario invited Michelangelo to Rome. It is here that Michelangelo gained recognition.
In 1497, he carved the drunken Bacchus, which is one of the two first important pieces in his
career. The next year he carved his second marble figure called The Pieta for St. Peter s

truth is possible than Christ s resurrection which proved to be the surprising undoing of Satan s
greatest triumph. The fiend underwent a devastating and unlooked for humiliation in achieving this
victory.(9)It is akin to Sauron s defeat at the moment he was gloating in the stupidity of the march
of Aragorn and his meagre six thousand to the gates of Mordor.
Another aspect of evil developed in Tolkien is the insatiable hunger to possess, to rule, to
dominate. The Bible captures the same idea with pictures of locusts, of the sword, of wild beasts,
of striving kings, and of Satan going about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he might devour.
quot;Devouring quot; is an apt symbolization of insatiable lust. It closely parallels the Trilogy s

the Boxers such as that Dowager Empress Cixi want to turn the Boxer into a real military force to

embarrassment of having to apologized for each nation s loss of lives, and compensate for their
crimes and it matters because this just shows that the powerful Qing court wasn t able to protect its

to divide China into a country which another country has power to affect developments with no

had a chance to change things for the better. The Boxers were a rebellion against Christian

Non-Diegetic Techniques In The Film Sleeping
In the film Sleeping directed by Doug Conant a young woman by the name of Harriet is chosen
to babysit for The Winters. The director,Mr.Conant, uses Non diegetic sounds, Shot Reverse
Shots and longshots to create scenes filled with suspicion and skepticism. The film begins with
close ups of harriet s home and life (which is not shown in the text). In this scene you can hear
non diegetic music that makes Harriet seem juvenile; on behalf of the fact that when her mother
enters her room and asks her if she did the laundry she answers in a childish manner. Later, there is
a long shot of harriet s mother that shows an air of vulnerability and innocence; it is later noted
that she divorced and Harriet is all she has left. When Harriet Enters the

Weaknesses Of Literature
A bewildering number of research reports are published annually. The reports differ with regard to
quality, comprehensibility, and relevance to practice (MГҐrtensson et.al, 2016). Furthermore, the
studies may have multiple strengths and weaknesses depending on the research methodology they
employ. Therefore, to establish a solid foundation for research on any subject and to prevent the
replication of inaccurate information, it is essential that scholars critically evaluate the available
scientific evidence (MГҐrtensson et al., 2016). The critical evaluation of philosophies or claims is
crucial in the development of independent thinkers and informed decision makers. It is the only
way of distinguishing among differing claims of truths and determining the credibility or
trustworthiness of different viewpoints. On that note, this essay seeks to analyze two pieces of
literature that try to answer the question as to whether the stimulant use is related to positive
academic performance among college students. In specific, the paper will analyze the strengths
and weaknesses of the two studies and discuss the factors, which influence evidence based
practice, with a special consideration of the PICO elements. Part A Hildt, E., Lieb, K., Franke, A.

But we re going to disapparate from here to the front of the Leaky Cauldron. What is disapparate

Essay On Elbow Pain
Elbow Pain
Elbow pain, also known as tennis elbow, or Lateral Epicondylitis is a painful muscle condition in
the elbow/forearm region caused by overuse. Tennis elbow is triggered by an inflammation or
swelling in the muscles that connect along the outside of the forearm to elbow area. Activities that
include much use of the forearm and elbow region, such as: tennis, carpentry, as well as a variety
of other exercises and labours, can cause tennis elbow.
Symptoms of Tennis Elbow
Common symptoms of tennis elbow include, but are not limited to:
Outer elbow and/or forearm pain,
Decreased and/or painful grip strength and
Pain when lifting palm downwards
Pain in the outer elbow range commonly begins in a patient s primarily dominant hand. The pain
begins subtly as a tenderness and/or soreness, and escalates to pain doing everyday chores. Lifting
a common milk jug, or turning the ignition key in one s automobile may become a painful task as
well.

region can definitely help to lighten the pain in the particular area. A doctor may also prescribe

themes to create the storyline in the novel; in A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L Engle a major

is having the strength to resist and endure fear, danger, and difficulty; it is the main thing that can

Taboos And Discrimination
Being born and raised in Eritrea, our traditions and cultures can have very strict views on certain
issues and beliefs in our society. We have many strong taboos and laws back home and breaking one
can be extremely objectional in society, thus leading to harsh punishments.
Homosexuality is considered as one of the biggest taboos in Eritrea. People still have so many
wrong assumptions about homosexuals based on different motives. Having spent almost two
decades of my life in Eritrea, my opinions and beliefs on homosexuals have somehow been
negatively affected in the past but I was able to change that after I moved out of the country and
started to expose myself to people from different cultures and backgrounds.
People don #39;t really talk about homosexuality back home. It #39;s not an argument or a topic
that you bring up and talk about in public or even between friends. We just considered
homosexuality to be wrong. As simple as that. In a country where homosexuality is illegal, you can
imagine how someone would feel if he/she came out as gay. Gay people wouldn t come out to their
parents fearing they would be refused and abandoned. Even accusing someone of being gay,
whether he/she is or not can have a life lasting impact in his/her social life. Personally, I have
never heard of someone going through this situation. There is so much fear of being identified as
gay that you barely hear rumors about someone being a homosexual as they always have to be
cautious. That #39;s why

Let s do it. I used to like going up there every Friday with your dad when we were in grade school
replied Chad, thinking about those days when Nick s dad would take them to ice cream and then
take them to that clearing on that cliff that overlooked their small town. They would watch the sun
set, and then all the street lights turn on in the city at their scheduled time. After half an hour of
country music and discussing their favorite football team and how much better they are than last
year, they pulled into the best park at Lookout Ridge. It was kind of hidden and surrounded by
trees without leaves, their branches stretched out over the car, forming what some would say looks
like a single car garage. There they sat and waited for the sunset. The temperature outside dropped
dramatically and clouds poured into the sky. They watched the sun hide itself behind the mountains
on the other side of the small valley that housed their town. Then, at the precise scheduled time, the
street lights scattered around the town turn on and light up the quickly darkening air. After
admiring the view for a long while, it started to rain, so they decided it was finally time to leave.
Chad put the car in reverse and started backing out. The car

The Detective Chief Inspector Of The Inspector Calls
Not another sound is heard from the other end of the phone aside a small gasp and a few gentle,
shaking breaths, before the blaring beep signals that the caller has just hung up. Now, enter
Detective Chief Inspector Banks. His appearance denotes a man of wealth; a portly fellow with
quite the beer gut. He could perhaps be described as abrasive or as lacking in regard for others,
with qualities of a dictator, or as dominant, being ever one to take charge. He seemed to gain
little happiness from his position, ever one for being pessimistic, or simply a realist as he tells
everyone, and is an avid gambler with no other relations. After the line ends the call, Chief
Banks sighs, rubbing a hand along the stubble that lines his chin, slow and harsh. A groan
escapes his lips along with the chair as he stands, hands fumbling along his desk until he
manages to gather what he was after: keys and packet of cigarettes. As soon as Banks stands,
another movement within the room is to be heard also. This is Detective Chief Rivers, a lean
and awkward young man of 6 2 . He has jet black hair and a long nose, and his personality is
almost the opposite of Banks ; he is eager and obedient, submissive and optimistic, and always
willing to give his time to assist the aid of the Chief, whom he regards with the utmost respect
for. C mon, we ve got a call, Banks states with a lack of care to his voice that could be seen as
apathy, shrugging on his coat. You re driving. Eager to help and to

The Impact of Illegal Immigration on the United States
Immigration is one of the hot topics in today s society: legal and illegal. According to, Philip E.
Wolgin, in his article, Immigration Polling Roundup: Americans of All Political Stripes Want
Congress to Pass Immigration Reform , there are 11.7 million unauthorized immigrants living in
America today. From 1990 2007, immigrationincreased from 3.5 million to 12.2 million. Since
2007, immigration has decreased and fluctuated from 12.2 million illegal immigrants to 11.7
million illegal immigrants. In the article, Splitting the Difference on Illegal Immigration , Peter
Skerry states that, included in the eleven million illegal immigrants, there are more than one
million children under the age of eighteen. He also said that the illegal immigrants make up
roughly four percent of our nation s population, five percent of the work force, and twenty eight
percent of the foreign born residents. There are a lot of negative connotations that most people
connect with illegal immigration. Some people will say that illegal immigrants take away from the
economy by using government services and not paying any taxes, but they also tend to say that a
lot of illegal immigrants will take the lower paying jobs that most Americans do not want. These
two reasons are both negative and positive effects of legal and illegal immigration. Likewise, when
people think about immigration they usually think about just the Mexicans that come over from
Mexico, since Mexico is just right next door, but

  • 3. Not So Sane In Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse Five Not So Sane Billy Imagine having your whole mental health being completely obliterated from events you have taken part in a World War. In the story of Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut, this exact situation happens to the main character, Billy Pilgrim. In fact, Mr. Pilgrim is crazed because his skills and views including Tralfamadorians are nonviable. Also, Billy s episodes from the war have led to his irregular beliefs. Although Kurt Vonnegutexpresses that Billy Pilgrim knows a great deal about Tralfamadorians, readers are meant to believe that he is completely insane. As a matter of fact, Billy s various claims and stories clearly express how hysterical he actually is. First, Billy claims that he has special inhuman characteristics that do not make any sense. Billy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To demonstrate his time travel, consider the following excerpt: Billy blinked in 1965, traveled in time to 1958. He was at a banquet in honour of a Little League team of which his son Robert was a member. The coach, who had never been married, was speaking. He was all choked up. Honest to God, he was Saying, I d consider it an honor just to be waterboy for these kids. Billy blinked in 1958, traveled in time to 1961. It was New Year s Eve, and Billy was disgracefully drunk at a party where everybody was in optometry or married to an optometrist. (Vonnegut 24) In the quotation above, Billy says that he can time travel by simply blinking. I have been alive for sixteen years now, and have not met a human or heard of anyone who can do anything like this, so one can infer that Billy cannot have an acceptable mental health. Billy Pilgrim also says that he knows all of the details of his death, and has a designated place for them in the next quote. As a time traveler, he has seen his own death many times, ... For the last three years, these two technology giants have clashed on a scale unheard of in the history of the business world, their licit war costing more than a billion dollars and spanning four continents. For the purpose of this paper, I will go back to where the Apple vs. Samsung saga began, back in April 2011. • 5. Analysis Of An Eye Who Is The Whole World Go Blind An eye for an eye makes the whole world go blind. Ghandi. The story of Dawn reinforces this well known quote by demonstrating the heavy silence of murder and it s feeble justifications. A few years after the Holocaust, one of it s victims, Elisha, is recruited from his home in Paris as a terrorist in the city of Palestine. In his short time there, he has participated in violent group retaliation against the British, yet has never been forced to kill individually until now. This story documents the tale of a young boy s struggle to come to term with the human s ability to commit cruel acts, as well as his struggle to justify the ultimate act of cruelty: murder. Within it s startling revelations of the human conscience, Dawn illuminates that the comforts of revenge are only temporary; murder terminates all answers. With this, the author, Elie Wiesel, is able crumble the foundations of terrorisms and the reasoning that hate can ever resolve hate in his first novel, called Dawn. Dawn takes place in Palestine, a place where the Jewish community wakes up to a red, vengeful sky. After surviving the Holocaustthe main character, Elisha, has been recruited as a terrorist for the Freedom Movement. For Elisha, who is now without a family, the Freedom Movement represents a new dawn, an act of hope, and most importantly, a retaliation in the name of faith to secure what s rightfully his peoples. However, daybreak presents Elisha with a more tortured reality; he has been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although at first, Napoleon strongly opposed to Snowball s idea of the windmill, he later on ordered the animalsof the creation of the windmill. • 9. Civil Service Research Paper I believe that high school graduates should not be required a year of service before going to college. Some students, by choice, will join the military or civil services; others may already be set on a career they want to achieve. For example if someone wants to be a doctor, they already have many years of school ahead of them. But, if students are not attending collegeimmediatley following high school, they should be required a year of service. As a result, students are able to learn valuable life lessons and give themselves a better life. For example they learn to be flexible, make safe decisions, and self direct themselves. Students that are already set on going to college, however, should not need to serve due to the commitment it takes.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Making a difference is a marathon, not a sprint, (gogoverment.org). Likewise, going into a civil service job is not going to make you a ton of money like you may believe. Being in the civil service or military takes for a lot of patience. Joining the military or civil services after graduating can also be a very beneficial thing and provides valuable life skills to students. It is important for students to serve there country and get a feel for what the military is like. For example the military teaches you to be a leader and how to work as a team, including all sorts of different personalities. Additionally, in most military branches you can receive education. Now you can serve, and get an education. However, this would force you to serve longer than one year. In conclusion, I believe that you should not have to complete a civil service for a year after graduating high school. In my opinion, it is good to get through college first so you can get a career, then if you wish to serve for a year you have something to fall back on. There is many benefits of joining the military, but there are many risks too. Not being in the military would allow you to focus on your college studies and your career that lies ... Since U Went Away Name: Course: Instructor: Date: An Explication of James Weldon Johnson s Poem, Since You Went Away The poem, Since You Went Away (Sence You Went Away), depicts James Weldon Johnson as one who reckoned with the fact that the one person (or object) that someone loves most can make everything seem so beautiful when they are around and so out of order when they are gone. All through the poem, James Weldon Johnson paints images that would, in normal occasions, be used to express an air of contentment in someone s life. However, he goes on to turn the tables around by giving all these images some faults; for example, there are stars but they no longer shine as bright as they used to, the sun is present but it has lost its light, the sky is... In the third stanza, the persona emphasizes the point that everything seems to be going wrong. He adds that the days are twice as long and the birds have forgotten their song. This only shows us that the persona probably experiences sleepless nights and awaits for morning with much eagerness the birds seem to take longer to announce that morning has come by their singing (Johnson 1). To collaborate this with the idea that everything reminded the persona of the departed, it seems that the persona spends his days and nights thinking about the dear person or object. The fourth stanza begins by collaborating the third stanza where the persona tells us that there is nothing he can do to better his situation; therefore, he only sighs. • 13. The Romantic Era Of Felix Mendelssohn During the romantic era, there were many great composers that made the Romantic period the most innovative in music history. But Felix Mendelssohn is often viewed as a Classical Romantic composer, whose style paradoxically incorporated elements of formal balance and graceful control on the one hand, and romantic subjectivity and fantasy on the other. Felix Mendelssohn (Jakob Ludwig Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy) was a German composer, pianist, musical conductor, and teacher, and one of the most celebrated figures of the early Romantic period. Through his music, he largely observed Classical models and practices while initiating key aspects of Romanticism. Mendelssohn was born of Jewish parents, Abraham and Lea Salomon Mendelssohn, who he first learned piano from. In 1811, during the French occupation of Hamburg, the family had moved to Berlin, where Mendelssohn studied the piano with Ludwig Berger and composition with Carl Friedrich Zelter, who, as a composer and teacher, exerted an enormous influence on his development. Later he traveled with his sister Paris, where he took further piano lessons and where he appears to have become acquainted with the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Mendelssohn was an exceptionally gifted musical composer. A prodigy, reared in a highly cultured atmosphere, began composing at age 10, presented his orchestral compositions to illustrious audiences at the family estate. He wrote numerous compositions during his boyhood, among them 5 operas, 11 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, I would conclude that my attempt at a behavior intervention was unsuccessful. This was due to a variety of reasons. The foremost reason being to inconsistent application of the intervention. At times, weeks passed between trials. As we have learned, intervention is successful when it is implemented regularly. It was unwise to set my intervention monitoring in an environment which I have no control over and for a small window of time, for a specific type of instruction. Instruction is not given at a set period of time, as I had thought when collecting my baseline data. Adam s general education teacher often has them do individual work, then moves to whole group instruction, at which point I need to leave. Furthermore, there are a great deal of holidays during autumn, so students were often participating in the arts, rather than math. These issues could have potentially been avoided if I had spoken to his general education teacher about her schedule, but I did not. Further consultation could have helped this project to be successful. The token board may have not been the most appropriate intervention for what I was doing. I chose this intervention because both Adam and I are familiar with it. Further, I had planned to increase the duration overtime. My plan was, for the first week or two, I would have my student focus for one minute ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He first noticed it by observing a family that happened to have several cases of MSUD. In the study he had lost four babies within three months. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The odor is caused when someone is not able to metabolize the branched chain a ketoacid (BCKA). This problem happens because of their branch chain amino acids (BCAA); leucine, isoleucine, and valine. Other Problems Associated With Maple Syrup Urine Disease(Diet) Leucine is not a good acid to to have while having MSUD, but it is a necessary amino acid that you need to have. It is the most toxic of the BCAA and it is in foods in higher percentages than valine or isoleucine. Every patient is different so their tolerance of leucine has to be calculated to follow the measurement of BCAA levels. Then it has to be remeasured at the correct intervals for the first six to 12 months. (Diet.com, 2004) Risk Factors The National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) says that MSUD happens to males and females at the same rate. The risk of having any form of MSUD depends if your parents have this disorder or not. If both of the parents have the disorder, each child has a 25 percent chance of getting two mutated genes and getting MSUD, the child would have a 50 percent chance from getting one normal gene from each parent. In the new ICS proposal there are changed made, as EU Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom explains: the judges will be publically appointed in advance. And, like in courts, you won t be able to choose which judges hear your case. Furthermore, we will guarantee there is no conflict of interest. Again, like in domestic and international courts, the judges won t be able to continue any activities which might interfere with their judicial functions. Finally, I want to introduce an Appeal Tribunal. Just like in domestic legal systems and the World Trade Organization. (Malmstrom) This change in the appointment of judges could mean that the public opinion in a case could be more weighted by shifting the power from the companies to the international system. The European Union brings the reforms on ISDS as a solution to a system that was broken. But, there is much discussion about the necessity of a framework like ISDS and the ICS. Especially for high developed countries there might be less reason for an Investor State court since their court systems are already able to make unbiased decisions. European commissioner on Trade, Rupert Schiegelmig, responded to this argument in a debate about the new ICS. Many philosophers have attempted to explain the rights of animals and some wrote on the lack of inherent rights. This issue is difficult because animals can t speak for themselves but humans do have a place to play in the fight for animal rights. I will apply the principle of utility along with the moral theories of equality and speciesism in order show that animal testing for medical research is not an ethical practice. Principle of Utility Utilitarianism is an ethical theory that argues that all people should act in ways that bring about as much happiness as possible in the world and minimize pain. Mills (a supporter of utilitarianism) wrote that no matter the situation the right action would be the action that tended to minimize the suffering and pain, and maximize the pleasure and happiness, of all interested parties. Mills also thought that the suffering, pain, pleasure and happiness of animals should be protected and included in utilitarianism. Practically speaking, animal testing isn t just done to one or two animals during an experiment but to a large number of them, animals are tortured and subjected to pain in order to test medicines, medical treatments and more. On the other hand, it appears that the economic and political interactions between the People s Republic of China (PRC) and the USA will characterise international relations in the 21st Century. They are capable of succeeding their objectives of benefits by trying different methods and also changing quickly as they get new data. (Brian Tracy, 2005) Entrepreneurs and risk taking Risk taking is a part of entrepreneurial life. Due to this reason entrepreneurs have to have a risk taking spirit, because not taking risks can kill an enterprise before it gets off the ground. Dr. Shailendra Vyakarnam (2013) adds that entrepreneurs are people who also know their limitations. As entrepreneurs take risks, what they mostly come across are uncertainty and imperfect information. Uncertainty and its importance by Entrepreneurs According to the Business Word Reference (2015); uncertainty is a circumstance where the current condition of learning is such that the request or nature of things is obscure, the outcomes, degree or greatness of circumstances, conditions or occasions is eccentric. Douglass wanted to horrify his Northern white readers by informing them that slaveholders regularly split slave families for no apparent reason. This energy came from non renewable fossil fuels, and as such is not sustainable in the long term. The subject of this research is to investigate the impact of targeting 20% of the light passenger fleet being electric. The current electric vehicle fleet is less than 1% of the light passenger fleet, which consists mainly of petrol and diesel vehicles (Ministry of Transport (MoT), 2016). Thus, on average, each LPV used: 10402.69 km/LPV9.59 L(petrol)/100km =997.91 L(petrol)/LPV Hence, the total petrol consumed by 20% of vehicles in the LPF is: 997.91 L(petrol)/LPV603,624 LPV=602.36 million L(petrol) Consequently, this means that electric vehicles will save about 600 million litres per year if they replaced 20% of the LPF. Meno interprets virtue as to find joy in beautiful things and have power. (Meno) Even more so, Meno believes that virtue varies in relation to men, women and children. However, in reality, having virtuesimply means to maintain and uphold good moral values and characteristics. For example, patience is said to be a virtue. Other virtues can be seen as bravery, charity, commitment, compassion, dignity, grace and honesty. I agree with Socrates when he states that virtue is the same for everyone. The Contributions of Women in the American Civil War The Civil War was a divisive time in American history that tore the country in half for five long years (1861 1865). Michelangelo left Florence and fled to Bologna before Charles VIII invaded Florence. It was here in Bologna that Michelangelo carved an angle for the tomb. He returned to Florence for a short time in 1495 and carved the Cupid and a St. John. On June 25 of the following year, Cardinal Riario invited Michelangelo to Rome. It is here that Michelangelo gained recognition. In 1497, he carved the drunken Bacchus, which is one of the two first important pieces in his career. The next year he carved his second marble figure called The Pieta for St. Peter s Cathedral. The Pieta was a beautifully carved and finished statue of the dead Jesus lying across Mary s lap.
