Wells Fargo Corporate Bond
The mortgages and corporate bonds have similarity in trading, however the risk/reward are different.
Mortgage bonds is a bond backed by a mortgage or pool of mortgage typically backed by real estate or
physical equipment that can be liquidated. The mortgage Bondholder has the right to sell property to
compensate in the case if the bond defaults. These type of mortgage bond are generally considered
high grade and safe investments. A corporate bond is a debt security issued by a corporation typically
backed by the ability of the company to make payment, which is typically driven by the money earned
from the future operation. Also, there are few cases where the company s physical assets may be used
as collateral for bonds (Investopedia, 2016). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

which will should originate in October 2013. Wells Fargo has an idea of volume of loan they produce

or 45/64ths, or .703125. This quote assume everyone knows on the buying and selling side knows the
handle, which is the main price, near par, that the bond will trade at during origination (The Bankers,
2013, para. 6). In October 2013, Wells Fargo will be buddle 2000 mortgage worth $750 million
securitization for an average loan balance of $375,000. The 2000 homeowner will close the loans at
interest rate from 4.375% to 4.5% in October 2013 which shows 0.375% to 0.5% difference between
the homeowner rate and the bond rate. The majority of the extra interest is paid monthly to the
mortgage bond service and mortgage insurer such as Fannie Mea or Freddie Mac. Now the Mortgage
bond is grouped together, assigned a structure, assigned mortgage service and guaranteed by the
mortgage insurer it becomes a tradable bond. Goldman Sac can sell the bond to Vanguard fund which
can earn 4% on its investment. If the interest rate goes down and people refinance at the lower rate
that will impact the value of bond (The Banker,

The Principles of Communication
Communication is an ever developing topic in which human beings can express their feelings and
emotions on a daily basis whether they were positive or negative in the most suitable way. According
to Preja (2013) the term Communication can be traced back to the Latin word Communis which
stands for to be connected to or to be in a relationship with . Communication can be classified to two
types, verbal and non verbal. Verbal communication focuses mainly on vocals while non verbal
communication is innate and takes into account the speechless signals people do, not say, when
interacting with each other. It takes several forms, such as voice characteristics, body language,
chromatics and chronemics. In this report, the importance of non verbal communication concept will
be discussed as well as an explanation and examples of each of these types. Non Verbal refers to a
communication use no words but use haptics, proxemics ,kinesics and chromatics rather than words
spoken or written , it can give people s real feeling. However, non verbal communication is a use of
body language and paralanguage such as tone, laughter and facial expression. Acccording to Leemann,
kolly Dellwo (2014) Supra segmental voice characteristics show that individuals can be recognised by
hearing their voices even if they are not familiar, Such observations reveal that speakers carry
individual features in their voices ,the fact that human voices demonstrate their individuality can be

Mickey Rourke Research Paper
In July 1964, Mickey Rourke, fighting as Phil Rourke, won 3 round decision over Roger Hough in an
armature boxing match in Miami, Florida
Coming from a background of professional heavyweight boxing, it is not surprising that Mickey
Rourke launched off in Hollywood primarily as an action man. He had several successes in his acting
stint before becoming a professional boxer.
After numerous injuries Rourke retired from sports and went back to acting, having earned acclaim for
his role in The Wrestler (2008) and Iron Man 2 (2010). Rourke basically caught the acting bug in the

the acting game playing a supporting role alongside Denzel Washington. His performance established
him to be a legitimate actor once again. In 2005, he landed the lead in the international blockbuster,
Sin City, directed by Robert Rodriguez. His role as a gritty, urban detective catapulted Rourke to the A
list of acting talent, and earned him a new generation of fans. He reprised his role in the 2014 sequel,
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. In 2008, Rourke met more critical acclaim with his role as Randy The
Ram Robinson in the film, The Wrestler. He won a golden globe for his performance, and was
nominated along with co star, Marisa Tomei for an Academy Award. It has been a long, slow climb
back from his 80 s career dive, but Rourke managed to make a comeback as a prominent actor, having
appearance in several action and thriller films since his return to the silver screen, including Iron Man

Mechanical Valves Research Papers
Mechanical valves are manufactures from artificial materials and constant of combination of metal
alloys, paralytic carbon, and Dacron. (Lewis et al, pg 825). The one of the main advantage of
mechanical valves is that they will last a patient s lifetime. Mechanical valves are builds to last as the
patients with life expectancies beyond 10 15 years. In addition, they eliminate the mortality risk
inherent in the replacement of a worn out tissue valve. The best mechanical valves, such as the On X
valve, have excellent flow performance, rivaling that of the native valve even in the small sizes
(Spindler, 2017). The one of problem with mechanical valves is that patient have to go through

In addition, I believe that age do play good role in patient having valve replacement. The older you are
the less affected and life expectancy is shorting with each day pass bye. Therefore, patient who are 65

medication or treatment. The body will started to reject valve replacement by having complication,

variables. PROCEDURE Participants were given an informed consent. Random numbers were given
to each participant and were randomly placed in one of the three groups: positive humor, avoidant
humor, and control (somatic features). The manipulation for this study was to prime each group
differently before taking the questionnaires. The positive humor group was asked to think of a moment
when their spouse used positive humor, humor used to reduce tension and bring closeness. The
avoidant humor group was asked to think of a moment when their spouse used avoidant humor, humor
that is used to avoid conflict or change the topic. The control group was then asked to think of their
spouse s somatic features. Each group then had to take two measures the KMS (Kansas Marital
Satisfaction) scale and the CSI (Couples Satisfaction Index). MEASURES KMS In order to measure
marital satisfaction, we used the KMS scale (Schumm, 1986). The KMS is a short 3 item, 7 point

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Anxiety
Normal and Abnormal Anxiety
Anxiety is a reaction to things that stress you. It is normal to have some anxiety at work, school, or
home. It is when anxiety becomes a daily occurrence with no known cause that it is categorized as a
disorder. Anxiety, panic, and depression often begin with normal stress that gets out of control.
Hectic lifestyles lead to poor eating habits, less restful sleep, deficiencies in vitamins and minerals the
body needs, and higher levels of stress. You don t have to work outside the home to experience stress,
anxiety, and/or depression. It can happen to stay at home parents, working parents, students, young
working adults, children, and senior citizens alike. Anxiety isn t exclusive to any age or gender group.
Natural anxiety remedies are better for you than conventional treatments like medications that dull the
senses and cause a number of side effects ranging from mild to life threatening. A good rule of thumb
to follow is that if the medication has more side effects than you have symptoms, consider going with
natural means of treatments.
Natural Anxiety Remedies
The most common natural ways to lessen stress and manage anxiety and depression are as follows:
Chamomile Best known as a tea leaf, chamomile offers the same results as valium, but without the
adverse side effects. It binds to the same brain receptors and calms anxiety.
L Theanine Green tea contains an amino acid called L Theanine that is effective for curbing high

Achilles And Agamemnon In The Iliad
In ancient Rome and ancient Greece, myths were an oral tradition of storytelling that served to answer
two primary purposes. The first role was to create stories that responded to unanswerable questions
such as Why is there thunder? and the second function of myths, about gods, goddesses, monsters, and
heroes, was to give structure to their society and culture in psychological manifestations. In addition,
the gods and prophecies served as a reminder to the characters that they don t ultimately have any
control over their lives. This epic poem by Homer is not just a simple story of an argument between
Achilles and Agamemnon or the well known story of the war but also has a psychological theme
incorporating anger, especially Achilles as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, as Achilles chases Hector around the walls of Troy in Book Twenty two, Athena appears
disguised as one of his companions and convinces him to stop running and to fight Achilles together.
Hector falls for the trick and turns to fight Achilles before realizing his betrayal by the Gods and
perishes from Achilles rage. Another example is in Book Eight when Zeus forbids the gods to take
part in the day s fighting, then the battle begins, and Zeus disregards his own command and supports
the Trojans so that they are winning. Then, Diomedes restores the Greeks to a superior position. Zeus
retaliates by helping the Trojans again. Hera, who always seems to try and mediate, is unsuccessful in
her intervention and the Greeks start losing badly. Next, Teukros restores the Greeks to a higher
position. Zeus becomes angered by this action, so he helps the Trojans begin to take the lead in the
war. Then, Hera attempts to intervene again and is unsuccessful. Night arrives, and the Trojans are so
happy with their victory. This almost ludicrous battle among the God s represents the theme of anger
as they experience strong emotions as well as the humans. Ultimately, the humans do not have control
over their lives as the God s quarrel over the sake of humans.
On another note, Homer did not just use the God s as psychological manipulators of the plot, but

A Research About The History Of Television Essay
Television History
Marwa Mekdashi

October 3, 2016
Abstract
This study is an in depth research about the history of television. Many people know the history of the
lightbulb and who created; however, many people like myself have little to no knowledge about the
creator of the television, when it was created, and the purpose of it. This paper will discuss the history
of TV, manufacturing companies behind this magical device, consumer profile on the users of it,
global application, marketing strategies used to sell the product, and future predicaments on the
technological advances in the upcoming years.
Keywords: Television, consumers, device, technology, history, marketing, manufacture, product,
worldwide, and future.
My topic of choice is the television. I chose to write about it because it is the only technological
device my family does not use. Although we have a television, it is never on because other companies
like Netflix and news sites on the internet are taking over people s interest considering it is much more
portable. I thought it would be interesting to learn about the history of TV and the future of it. I have
witnessed how television screens went flat. If you enter any home in today s day and age you can see
that nobody owns a tube style television or CRT. It is interesting to see consumers racing to receive
the latest technological devices. What is more interesting is the way companies market to

The Debate On Animal Rights
There are two major schools of thought on animal protection. First, is the tenet that animals should
have rights and the second, more radical view, is that animals should be liberated. Many of the rights
that are promoted for animals are similar to the rights of human democratic societies. The basic rights,
which are recommended by a number of advocates, are that animals should be free from suffering, be
in possession of their own life, and their basic interests should be given the same consideration as
humans (Taylor, 2009). The more extreme view, is that animals should be considered as people and
not property (Francione, 2008). There are a number of leading philosophers that have published
opinions on the legitimacy of animal rights. The debate on animal rights has been discussed since
close to the beginning of historical time. The reference in the Bible of Adam having dominion over the
fish, birds, and animals that inhabit the earth implies ownership or some form of property rights to the
animals (Francione, 1995). The implication was that man was superior to animals because he was
created in the image of God. The Greek philosopher Aristotle based his opinions on the idea that
animals did not have the ability to reason and so they were below humans (Taylor, 2009). Rene
Descartes, a French philosopher who is known as the father of modern philosophy, had a tremendous
influence on the animal rights debate and his opinions are still being quoted today in papers and

Every fan has different expectations about a specific topic. The popularity is based on their fans
because without fans they would be nothing. We can talk about thousands of fans and their
influencers, but there is a specific one that affects the world. Soccer is a game that with a simple
whistle creates a wave of emotions. Soccer fans are one of the most extended groups of fanatics in the
world. Absolutely, there are some haters about this sport. People running behind a simple ball that is

Examples Of Tension In Spider Man
Term 1 drama There are many examples of relationship tension in the film spider man. I am going to
state some of these starting with the first example which is in the first couple of scenes when Peter
Parker is chasing the bus and everyone inside of it is laughing at him including the bus driver. This
scene shows task tension because it shows that peter is trying to catch the bus and if he doesn t make
it, the outcome will be that he will miss the excursion, this is relationship tension because Peter has
something to do, an amount of time to do it and if he doesn t complete the task there will be
consequences. This scene also shows relationship tension because everyone in the bus is laughing at
peter showing he is not liked by others and even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the first is when Peter is unknown of a spider coming down above him and he is enjoying his
time with Mary Jane. The spider comes down and peter still does not know this. This is mystery
tension and this changes into surprise tension because the spider snaps at Peter which was unexpected
to the viewers. It starts with mystery tension because threatening things are happening to peter and he
does not know and it is surprize tension because we did not expect the spider to lash out at peter. In
this scene the mystery and surprise is also emphasised through the music used. Another example Of
tension of mystery is when They are on the excursion looking at the spider, Mary Jane says there is
only fourteen spiders when the woman said that there should be fifteen. This is tension of mystery
because people are left wondering where this spider is, that it could be anywhere. Another example of
tension of mystery and surprise is when Dr Osborne is testing the formula and nobody knows what the
outcome is going to be and that is why it is tension of mystery. This converts to tension of surprize
because dr Osborne unexpectedly grabs Norman, throwing him and killing him and this is tension of
surprize because we didn t expect it to

##s And Weaknesses And Strengths Of Rudy Giuliani
Like all famous leaders, Rudy Giuliani had his fair share of strengths and weaknesses. Giuliani
showed the country and the world what true leadership was in the wake of 9/11. During a time of
crisis, he demonstrated courageousness, dedication and composure. Even though Giuliani is mostly
remembered for his strengths, his weaknesses are usually overlooked. He was criticized for being
unfaithful and allowing lust to break up his marriage. Another weakness of Giuliani was his
inconsistency to reprimand his police force. Giuliani was a man of positivity. No matter the situation,
Giuliani always looked at the positive side of things and didn t allow his emotions to get the best of
him. This strength of his leadership style stemmed from the core values his father taught him. In an
interview with Barbara Walters, Giuliani talked about what his father taught him. Giuliani explained
that his father had taught him how to act during a crisis: When there is a crisis going on, the most
important thing is to be calmer. If everybody s getting very upset and very emotional, the best way to
figure out your way through it is to actually become calmer and relax more. He understood that when
in a time of uncertainty, being calm was the key. Another key strength of Giuliani was how he was a
natural born leader. NYPD Commissioner William Bratton commented on Giuliani s natural born
leadership. I ve seen the mayor in many instances during the time I worked with him as police
commissioner

Longboarding is a sport of riding the longboard that resembles a skateboard. The only difference is
that it needs time, bigger wheels besides larger pickup trucks to let you commute and perform certain
moves like freeriding and slaloming. Longboarding a thrilling experience. Debatably, it s simpler to

some leisure time in hand, head off right away and kick the ground. But, before you embark, go

it is really confusing to settle down with one. You can simply pick one that suits your persona and

Financial Assistance Program For Health Coverage
Mrs. Jones, like many older adults, is on a fixed income, has Medicare for health coverage, but lacks
prescription drug coverage. She was recently prescribed a new medication by her physician, which she
cannot afford. As Mrs. Jones nurse, it is my responsibility to advocate for her by providing education
and sharing information on the multiple different avenues available to decrease the cost of the
medication prescribed. I will identify three strategies in which I can help Mrs. Jones afford her
medication. First, I will provide education on her insurance plan and explain Medicare Drug Plans and
their enrollment process. Secondly, I will identify a financial assistance program which she might
qualify for. Finally, I will identify different ways to lower the cost of the medication such as coupons,
drug discount cards, switching to a generic medication, and store programs ( Prescription Drug, 2014).
All of these options are a solution to Mrs. Jones problem. In the meantime, it may be beneficial to
obtain free samples from the physician s office if possible, but this only makes sense if there is a
strong likelihood that she will eventually be able to afford the new medication.
First, I must assess Mrs. Jones understanding of her insurance plan. Is she even aware that she doesn t
have prescription drug coverage? According to Cohen and Villarroel (2015), approximately one fifth

A Good Man Is Hard To Find By Joyce Carol Oates
In the stories A Good Man is Hard to Find, by Flannery O Connor and Where Are You Going Where
Have You Been, by Joyce Carol Oates, the authors illustrate the attitudes that people possess toward
death. O Connor is considered to be motivated by religious appeal, whereas Oates writes to depict the
temptation of death. Those that have no choice in their death see it as a punishment, while those that
choose to die see it as a blessing. Through the use of symbolism, diction, and comparisons, O Connor
and Oates shed light on the differing perspectives of death.
O Connor s character, The Misfit, is depicted as an escaped prisoner that is responsible for the death of
a family traveling to Florida on vacation. Upon closer examination, it becomes evident that The Misfit
is symbolic of death when he remarks that there never was a body that give the undertaker a tip. (510)
It can be concluded that he sees himself to an undertaker, but instead of preparing a body for a funeral,
The Misfit is preparing the family for the afterlife.
Oates s character, Arnold Friend, is also symbolic of death, in that he tempts a young, depressed girl to
commit suicide. This comparison first becomes clear when he drew an X in the air, and called it My
sign. (311) Arnold Friend s actions represent death, or the grim reaper, crossing off the names of those
that had died.
Despite The Misfit and Arnold Friend both being symbolic of death, they are perceived in contrasting
viewpoints. The Misfit is

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin Vs. Wuthering Heights...
Mr. Darcy, handsome gentleman s son from Pride Prejudice by Jane Austin, can be seen as a different
role model when compared to Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. Both novels have a
similar background but with a different twist. Austin s description of writing is seen to be related to a
more realistic and satire approach, whereas Bronte s style seems to be a bit gothic. Furthermore, both
novels have a romantic presentation of two very unique genders that fall deeply in love with one
another. Pride Prejudice starts off with Darcy being evaluated as a stuck up, evil man. However, the
readers are only seeing Elizabeth s perception of Darcy by gathering information from her outside
community. The climax of Pride ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Darcy s ideal is to gain Elizabeth s affection; therefore, he begins to find ways to distinguish a not so
cruel character. Darcy becomes more loveable when he writes his letter to Elizabeth about the truth of
his life situations with Wickham; however he is also seen to ripen when paying the dowry for Mr.
Bingley when Elizabeth s younger sister runs off with Wickham. Evidentially, Heathcliff and Darcy
are no big comparison; however, Heathcliff s love for Catherine was outstanding. His ideal holding
was the grudge he had toward the Earnshaws, especially Hindley for not being allowed to be with
Catherine. He seemed to have a very strategic plan on getting revenge on the Lintons, Earnshaws, and
especially Hindley. Heathcliff was always seen as the outcast and was not payed much attention to, as
he became older his affection towards Catherine grew, causing him to want to prove his social status
in Wuthering Heights. These male protagonists represent two different types of heroines. Both
Heathcliff and Mr. Darcy appeal to the readers the most because of the way they approach their love
situations. Heathcliff is seen to have the reversed role of Darcy, meaning, he did not grow up wealthy
and he is fighting to be with Catherine who is of superior society. He also catches the audience
attention in the beginning of the novel. He is seen to be cruel, anxious, and mysterious. Not until later

because of this but Jess plays football behind her back. In Billy Elliot, the boy starts to dance and the

The director uses happy music when Billy dances in front of his dad to make it look like he is fighting
against the stereotyping. When Billy s brother has a go at the teacher when she says that Billy missed
a dance audition, this is stereotyping because the brother has a go at the teacher and says that he would
be embarrassed to have a brother that dances and that he doesn t want a gay for a brother. This is
stereotyping against dancers and gays, because not all dancers are gay, just because they like dancing
and there isn t anything wrong with being gay just as long as u don t try and get other people to join
you. During this part of the film, the director uses sad rock type music to show anger from his brother.
After this part, Billy starts dancing to release his anger, this type of music is also rock too show that

Summary Of John Locke s Second Treatise Of Civil Government
John Locke: Second Treatise of Civil Government 1. John Locke s Second Treatise of Civil
Government was first published in 1690. In 1688, the Glorious Revolution came over England. King
James II was overthrown, and King William and Queen Mary were brought to England with the help
of the Whigs, with whom Locke had very strong connections. Locke chose to attack the idea of
absolute monarchy, and supported the idea of overthrowing an unappreciated ruler, e.g. the events of
the Glorious Revolution. 2. Locke refers to the laws of nature as the first government of the human
race, in its basest and original form: [W]e must consider what estate all men are naturally in, and that
is...within the hounds of the laws of Nature (paragraph 1). He refers ... Show more content on

The social contract is the idea that man gives up his rights and himself to the community, where all
men will be equal. This is beneficial to society in that no one will want to make the group state worse
for every member, Rousseau says. Additionally, every member of the societal body will wish to aid the
others, as they are able to move as one. An offense to one member of the body is now an offense to all
members. 4. Rousseau seems to not really believe in the sustainability of individualism. His social
contract demands that all follow along with the general will, no matter what they personally believe.
In fact, he says any man who separates from the general will shall be forced to go along with what is
best for the society. 5. Rousseau explains that direct democracy is the only true form of appropriate
government. He argues that the will of the people cannot be represented, or it will be corrupted, and
only by direct vote and ratification by the people can laws be valid and acceptable, as they are truly
the will of the people. Representative democracy is unacceptable, because those appointed to work for
the people cannot adequately represent them, as they are different people. 6. Both Rousseau and Locke
seem to agree that the basic purpose of any government is to protect the people within it and enforce
their will. They agree that a government has no foundation if it is not supported by the people it

Quality Of Project Quality Management
Quality in Project quality management
Project quality management ensures that the quality of the project is up to the quantified standard
defined by the company.
It was suggested by (Gomes et al, 2005) that as a result of similar management techniques in
efficiently operating companies globally it can be concluded that the most successful companies focus
on maximizing customer s satisfaction.
The various methods important for understanding objectives of project quality management are ISO,
PMBOK, AGILE, PRINCE2, Six Sigma and many others. Six Sigma was developed by Motorola
Bisgaard (2007) suggests that Six Sigma has basic five phases, which includes defining, measuring,
analyzing, improving and controlling.
As suggested by ISO (2003), international standards constitutes of eight management principles:
 Customer Importance
 Leadership
 Involvement of people
 Process tactic
 System tactic to management
 Continual improvement
 Precise approach to decision making
 Mutually beneficial supplier affairs
ISO (2003) further suggests that project procedures that come under the quality management system
should be managed in order to achieve the purposes of the project. Moreover, the objectives of the
project and the goals related to the products should always consider customer satisfaction as their
priority.

The objective of the study is to explore the opinion about quality in AICA Group, more specifically in

The Tuckman Model Of Group Development Essay
The Tuckman Model of Group Development has 5 stages: Forming, Storming, Norming, and
Adjourning (Maples, 2008). During the first session of MOP, everyone was tasked with forming their
own small project team. The very first class workshop activity involved meeting two new people and
introducing one of them to the entire class. The aim of the activity was to indirectly assess who we
would want to be in a team with, based on our perceptions of a person s behaviour, values, and work
ethic. Most people would want to be in a team with people similar to them on a surface level (age,
gender, ethnicity) and on a deeper level (personality, attitudes, believes, values) (Liang, Shih, Chiang,
2015). We were free to choose whoever we wanted in our team under the condition that the team we
form is diverse.
My team members are Sara, Wei, Rijuta, Rohit, and Craig. We are one of the more, if not most,
culturally diverse groups in the class because we hail from China, India, New Zealand and the
Philippines. When looking at our majors, there was not much diversity because five of us are in
Marketing and only Rohit is in Global Business. Only four of us in Marketing have been classmates in
the previous term and prior to this term, we never experienced working together as a team. Sara told
us she wanted to be in a team where everyone would pull their own weight, and she said that it looked
that each of us wanted the same thing. The six of us agreed to form a team because we all valued

Gomez And Catullus
Although the thought of repeating history is often followed by a negative connotation, a lot of the
things people do today are similar to the things people did long ago. A lot of the movies made in the
21st century are just remakes of movies made in the 19th and 20th century. Similarly, a lot of our
music today is similar to poems and lyrics from long ago. Although Selena Gomez, a 21st century pop
artist, and Catullus, a 54 B.C famous love poet, are separated by hundreds of years, their art is very
similar. It ain t me was one of Gomez s biggest hits in 2017. Having multiple authors, including
Gomez, It ain t me follows a nostalgic tone with the narrative of heart breaking past relationship.
Catullus VIII is one of Catullus s many poems to the mysterious Lesbia ; however, unlike Catullus V ,
Catullus VIII is the chapter in which their love story turns into a hostile one. In their work, both

The Illegal Immigration Issue And The Security Of The U.S.
The illegal immigration issue and the security of the U.S. Economy have been two hot topics all over
the news during the 2016 election champion. One main solution that now president Trump provided
during his champion was building the wall along the side of the US southern border. Although many
who voted for that he mostly agree to the idea, many others thought that was bad for the Economy,
Globalization, and most importantly the U.S. Economy. Nationwide, a debate on the issue of whether

same way that folks who voted for him want to see. The article argued that business will have to make
money to cover all the cost of importing goods to the U.S. If the president increases their cost, they
will have no other choices but increase the price tag on the importing goods to cover that cost. So, in
the end, the folks who voted for him may end up been the real people that pay for the wall not what
Trump has claimed Mexico. Many businesses in the U.S. are heavily relying on imports from Mexico,

Communication Skills That Build Winning Relationships
Communication is the key to growth and development of oneself, and relationships with others. Good
relationships are normally forged over good communication skills. We all know of the popular saying,
No man is an island. This means that human beings are social animals needing interaction, no man
was born to be a loner. Without effective communication it would be impossible to survive in this cut
throat world. Therefore, it is a necessity to have good communication skills in order to relate well with
other people.
COMMUNICATING EFFECTIVELY
There are two main reasons why we communicate:
To gather relevant information from people.
To elicit emotional support to people and in turn build mutually useful relationships.
This is best ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This always tends to ruin relationships as it pushes people further and further way from them.
v) They blame themselves for everything
They often think that all failures are their fault. For instance, if a person failed to be promoted in a job
he will say, I knew I should have pitched myself harder and be more assertive. Maybe then I would
have gotten the promotion. vi) They dwell on the past
Polar thinkers find it hard to accept and let go of past mistakes, and concentrate on the future. They
use words such as should and ought. For example, in the case of a failed job interview a polar thinker
would say, I should have spoken more clearly and with much more confidence.
We should realize that the way we think affects how we act, in turn affecting our communication and
relationships. There is no shame in recognizing that we have maxed out our potential. Our happiness
cannot depend on other people, we determine our own happiness.
Steps to effective internal communication
These steps are used to help us grow. They can be summarized in the following acronym:
BE DO ACHIEVE NEW BE DO
a) BE
This being the first stage, one has to recognize their own strengths and also allow room for their
shortcomings. It is important to admit your past mistakes

Why We Should Study Chimpanzees
Animals such as chimpanzees have rights. Even though they may not be humans, they are living
creatures. Jane Goodall watches the videotape of chimpanzees which inspires her to visit them. She
decides to go visit them and later finds out how depressed the chimpanzees were. They were living in
small cages with nothing to do. No toys, no being around any other chimpanzees, nothing. Jane then
visits another lab where only baby chimps were playing around with toys and other chimpanzees, but
the older chimps were trapped inside cages. People who work with lab animals should understand the
animal s behaviors. Whether it s good or bad, knowing this should be mandatory when people work
with them. Since chimpanzees are smart, similar to humans,

Childhood Memory And Attention As Predictors Of Academic...
Early Childhood Memory and Attention as Predictors of Academic Growth Trajectories
Memory plays a very important role in our academic growth and improving our skills. The purpose of
this paper is to review a study by Stipek Valentino (2015), which examines associations between
attention and memory and academic skill development. Stipek Valentino (2015) used longitudinal data
from the children of the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth to measure how well attention and
short term and working memory in early childhood predict growth trajectories in both math and
reading comprehension through adolescence and education attainment in young adulthood (Stipek
Valentino, 2015). The study indicated that the relationship between working memory and attention in
academic outcomes was observed to be strong and positive in early childhood but not significant
during the later years (Stipek Valentino, 2015). The results of the study suggest that core cognitive
capacities predict learning in the early elementary grades, but the relationship weakens by late
elementary school. These findings suggest that while efforts to develop attention and memory may
improve academic achievement in the early grades, during the later grades interventions that focus
directly on learning the subject matter are more likely to improve academic achievement (Stipek
Valentino, 2015).

Complications of IVF
About 16% of heterosexual couples ages 18 44 are experiencing infertility. Indeed, it is seen in
previous studies that the older the woman the higher the rate of infertility, but recent studies have
indicated that couples ages 19 29 the rate of infertility has increased in a range from 7% to 13.7%. In
addition, infertility is defined as the inability to conceive after a whole year of intercourse without the
use of contraception. Infertility has a very high emotional impact on couples. According to Sher, Davis
and Stoess (2005) When asked what they considered to be a primary problem in their lives, almost 80
percent of the couples replied that it was their inability to conceive. It usually causes emotional pain
amongst couples. Some methods usually used to treat infertility include counseling, surgery to repair
any anatomical damage and drugs to help with ovulation and sperm function. (Sher et al., 2005)The
last poplar method usually used in North America is known as in vitro fertilization (IVF). IVF is a
process whereas the egg(s) are fertilized outside of a woman s body. When the procedure is successful,
the zygote(s) are placed in the uterus. IVF does have its advantages for woman under the maternal age
but it also has a serious risk associated with going through with the process. IVF increases the chance
of multiple births, ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome and ectopic pregnancy. Multiple births is a

The Ethics of Crowdsourcing

Ethics of Crowdsourcing
Crowdsourcing ; Innovation or Exploitation?
Abstract
Crowdsourcing is the concept of mass collaboration of external outsourced tasks typically from an
institution to its community (Howe, 2005). This paper explores the two sides of crowd sourcing;
whether this net enabled community collaboration is accelerating innovation or exploiting the laborers
with menial tasks of little to no benefit through an analysis of Soylent, one of the latest innovations in

In 1714, the British Government was stuck for a solution to what they called The Longitude Problem
which made sailing difficult and deadly (killing 1,000s of seamen every year) (Thomas, 2011).
Inaccurate Longitude charts were causing sailors to be lost at sea, and in some cases people starved.
Seeking innovation, the British Government offered £20,000 for people to invent a solution (£20,000
in 1714 is around $4.7 million dollars in 2010) (Thomas, 2011). Innovative scientists and sailors came
together to formulate information that is more accurate. This is possibly the first ever example of
crowdsourcing; thus, solving the problems for many sailors. The contest was considered unsolvable by
many. John Harrison, the son of a carpenter, won the Longitude contest. Harrison invented the marine
chronometer (i.e. an accurate, vacuum sealed pocket watch) (Thomas, 2011). His knowledge and
brilliance helped solve navigation in the 1700 s. The aristocrats were hesitant to award Harrison the
prize but eventually paid him the £20,000 (Thomas, 2011). This example of crowdsourcing is a great
one because it highlights one of the principles of crowdsourcing innovation and creativity can come
from anywhere (Thomas, 2011). In the early 18th century, being able to navigate accurately was the
difference of returning home or not. Getting lost on a transoceanic voyage did not just mean that a
competing nation could

Use Of Ceramics In Filtration
Highly porous ceramics (foams, honeycombs, fibres , mats, etc.) find numerous applications in
various engineering fields, including filtration (molten metals, particulate from diesel exhaust gases),
radiant burners, catalyst supports, biomedical devices, kiln furniture, reinforcement for metal matrix
composites, bioreactors, thermal protection systems, supports for space mirrors, components in solid
oxide fuel cells, lightweight sandwich structures, heat exchangers (graphite foams), etc.
Talking about the interest of this report i.e. use of Ceramics in Filtration. During many industrial
processes, a filtering step may be required to remove impurities and improve quality of the final
product. Depending on the process, the filter may be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These inclusions can be removed by placing ceramic filters in the gating system leading to the mold.
Such filters must resist attack at high temperature by a variety of molten metals. These metals can
contain such reactive elements as aluminium, titanium, hafnium, and carbon. Using these filters can
reduce scrap rates by 40% and increase yields by 10% for manufacturing a wide range of parts made
out of iron alloys, stainless steel, super alloys, aluminium, or other nonferrous alloys.
Molten metal filters generally come in two forms: a porous foam like structure with interconnected
pores that vary in direction or cross section, or an extruded porous cellular or honeycomb structure
with cells of various shapes (square or triangular) and constant cross section. Though globally the
most popular type of filter is foam, cellular filters are used in 75% of applications in North America.
Filters can have either open cells or closed cells. Open cell (reticulate) filters consist of a network of
interconnected voids surrounded by a web of ceramic and are widely used for molten metal filtration.
Closed cell filters (foams) consist of a similar network but the beams are bridged by thin faces which
isolate the individual cell. The open porosity in an open cell structure is critical in filter applications.
The properties of a filter depend on both the cellular geometry (density, cell size) and the properties of
the material.

Persuasive Essay On War On Drugs
Down With Dope, Up With Hope! An average of seventy eight Americans are dying every day due to
some form of drug overdose... As far as the war on drugs, the United States is most definitely losing (
War On Drugs... A.7). This might not even be shocking anymore because people of the world know
how big of a problem drugs are, and have been for years. Drugs are tearing families apart, ruining
careers for people, and even ending lives. Currently, the main drug causing much of these problems is
heroin. In the Unites States alone, the heroin related death rate has tripled just since 2010 ( War On
Drugs... A.7). In the world today, drugs are common, and very easy to get ahold of. On just about
every corner in every city, you can purchase drugs. If people know how big of a problem drugs are,
why is nobody doing anything to stop it? The answer is that they are, but many people just don t
realize it. Cities across the world are beginning to experiment with things that could change drug
addicts lives: safe and supervised injection sites (Zielinski). People believe an injection site is the best
answer to helping users get clean, and preventing some kind of disease epidemic. Supervised injection
sites are legal offices where users can use illegal drugs, with supervision of doctors and nurses, and
not have to worry about being arrested (Strike). Injecting in these sites is completely legal, and this is
a main reason why they are so popular. As a user, you do not have to worry about getting in

Theme Of Great Expectations By Charles Dickens
Great Expectations by Charles Dickens is considered to be the greatest book he has ever sold. By the
time Charles Dickens had started his thirteenth novel, Great Expectations, he was a national hero.
After living as a shoe polisher, the upper class citizens of England started to realize through his
writing what was happening to their fellow lower class citizens. Dickens excellence in this book is
shown right throughout. However, the way he engages the reader is even more fascinating. He uses
many techniques and devices to engage the reader. just the title Great Expectations is a huge surprise
and the reader would like to know what the Great Expectation is. Charles Dickens engages us in
numerous other ways such as introducing weird and interesting characters, manipulation of the setting,
and the sympathy to be felt for Pip.

the grimness and the isolation of the churchyard during Pip s encounter with the convict. Dickens uses
repetition of nettles and tombstones to perhaps suggest that the churchyard is a place of pain and

The Eyes Were Watching God By Zora Neale Hurston
Many times when I read a piece of literature, I immediately look for the first signs of symbolism. I
analyze that particular symbol and how I believe it is to be presented throughout the narrative. In the
case of Their Eyes Were Watching God, I recognized that Janie s hair would have a significant place in
the themes of the novel. Within the opening paragraphs, Janie stares at herself in a picture and her
identity arises from her hair seen it was mah dress and mah hair Her identity then shifts to the color of
her skin Aw, aw! Ah m colored! (9), however the symbolism of her hair would be more powerful than
the color of her skin. After this particular passage, I realized that this is not a novel so much about race
as it is what it means to be a woman. Zora Neale Hurston is writing to an audience of women who will
identify with Janie the definition of femininity wrapped up in the hair. Even after her marriage to
Logan, she still has a thread of the passion for life and yearns for adventure. Logan reinforces the
beauty of her flowing hair because he runs his fingers through it and only after he stops she begin to
dream of flight. Many women enjoy having their beauty adored and when the adoration ceases they
might begin to question the sense of self. Janie begins to question her place in life and her freedom
comes in the form of a whistle from Joe Starks. She notices Joe Starks walking down the road and
runs to the water pump to gain his attention. Her heavy hair falls down

study was originally intended to be for good use, the Tuskegee Syphilis Study was immoral and racist
because only poor, uneducated black males were used in experiment, the participants were not
properly informed of their participation in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Macon County, Alabama, about 40% of African Americans had syphilis. Syphilis caused by a
spirochete bacterium that is contracted sexually. In the 1930 s it had relatively no cures or treatments.
Syphilis progresses into three stages, the last of which begins to attack the several organ systems of
the individual. The victim may become paralyzed, blind and/or deaf; develop heart problems or a
mental illness, or other symptoms (Gray 37 38). They decided that they wanted to compare and
contrast how blacks and whites develop the disease and the effects on each race. Years before the
study of the Negro was set to begin, a similar study for whites was conducted in Oslo, Norway. This
study was a retrospective look into the effects of untreated syphilis in whites. The retrospective study
used case histories of those who had syphilis when they died not living patients. The U.S. Public
Health Service decided to use African Americans in Macon County in the experiment. Originally titled
The Effects of Untreated Syphilis in the Negro Male the experimentations took place at the Tuskegee
Institute which is why the study is generally named the Tuskegee Syphilis Study (Jones 93 94). The
Rosenwald Fund, a foundation that funded many programs that were used in the betterment of African
Americans began funding this project. After the Stock Market crash of 1929, and the start of the Great
Depression, the Rosenwald Fund has to withdraw all the funds that they

Examples Of Procedural Safeguards
According to Nancy Chi Cantalupo, writer in the University Chicago Law Journal, twenty to twenty
five percent of college women are victims of attempted or completed nonconsensual sex (Burying Our
Heads 207). In October 2014, an eighteen year old freshman at Old Dominion University was sexually
assaulted. She reported her case to the ODU Police Department where she was treated as a suspect
rather than a victim (Jane). The university police department denied this young woman of many things
such as a medical examination right away, food, drinks and even did not allow her to use the bathroom
(Jane). These factors caused her to suffer multiple injuries mentally, emotionally, and physically
(Jane). Many cases of on campus sexual assault has come ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The local police department can be a mentor to the university police department. They can help train
in trauma skills as well as investigative skills. It is important to know how to investigate a person with
little skepticism, because during trauma the too much skepticism can turn a person away. It is already
difficult for a victim to go and report a crime because it requires them to relive that dreadful moment
again, and that is why some victims are scared to go to local police department, but this can happen
with the university police as well. In the ODU vs Jane Doe case she was interrogated with much
skepticism, which had results such as depression, anxiety, insomnia, and weight loss (Jane). On the
other hand, if you investigate the victim like there is no chance at all that they could be lying than that
leave the accuser hopelessly and they could be innocent. The accused sometimes go to the university
expected to already be guilty before even presenting their side. Nancy Chi Cantalupo, writer in Journal
of College and University Law, acknowledges in Decriminalizing Campus Institutional Responses to
Peer Sexual Violence , that universities decriminalize sexual assault crimes, and due to this, a lot of
rights are lost. Due to the matter that universities cannot enforce criminal laws, they are not required
to grant full due

The Separation Of What A Boy Or A Girl
Stories surround most young children in a pleasant way. As soon as they will listen to a book, they are
shown different adventures and characters that they are supposed to wish to be. When they finally pick
out books for themselves there seems to be an idea of a divide between what a boy will choose to read
and what a girl will. This anxiety is not new, but instead the product of thoughts founded back in the
19th century. Although not as present in today s literature, the separation of what a boy or a girl will
read is still presented as if it a problem in the book market. Children s novels began not just as tools
just for the benefit of literacy, but as ideal characters to model behavior. In the 19th century the
American Sunday School Union began to create books for children that would help develop morally
(Foreman, History of Adolescent Literature). These literature books had obvious religious themes and
presented didactic lessons meant to show children the consequences of failing to be proper. A perfect
example of this kind of novel is Hubert Lee: Or How a Boy May do Good, by Herbert Lee. The very
introduction of this book announces its intentions, The author trusts [this book] will be read with
interest, and every child will resolve, by God s help, to go and do likewise. (i, Lee). The idea was that
a novel was to not be solely for pleasure, but it should do something to advance the children s idea of
how to act in the world. This idea was developed further to fit

Moral Decay In The Odyssey
One of the most prominent themes of Hesiod s works of literature is the moral decay of the characters
conveyed within them. Most if not all of the characters within his stories experience a change within
character, moral standing and various religious behaviors to express the evolution of the individual
within the given situation. There are many great examples of this ideology portrayed in the novel The
Argonautika such as the goddess Medea and the heroic hero of the new age, Jason.
There are many instances where Hesiod clearly depicts changes in character throughout time. More
specifically for the major character Jason who chosen to be a new figure within literature. Jason
begins to stand in for an epic hero in a new aged society. Over the course of the novel the narrator
repeatedly compares the old kings and heroes to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In previous narratives such as The Odyssey Odysseus never came out of character, disowned the
beliefs of his land nor diminish his morals for any reasoning. Odysseus was a King who his land
would recognize as a strong empowered individual who never argued with words, instead took lives
who dared to threaten his existence, whereas Jason does not find the desire to physically commit to
battle unless deeply necessary and even then, he will be bewildered by the slightest thought of going
into such intense circumstances. In this specific scene he states that if talking does not conclude the
situation he will have to think of another plan, but later states he will then resort to discussing with
him to give up the Golden Fleece. Shortly after this helpless scene Jason encounters Madea who in
essence is one of the main reasons Jason is able to accomplish the mission of obtaining the Golden
Fleece but is later on manipulated by this hero like

Types Of Stress And Loss
Everyone at any given age is faced with different types of stress and loss. As human beings we
continuously evolve onto the next phase of our lives, which bring on new challenges and stress.
Ziegler (2014) indicated that it s a reminder that adult development encompasses both growth and
decline (Ziegler, 2014). Unfortunately, not everyone is equipped to deal with stress, consequently
resorting to maladaptive coping skills, such as: self indulging in over eating, smoking, and drinking
alcohol. Likewise, when dealing with loss, there are maladaptive coping skills, which are similar as
the ones described for stress, but also some may lash out or avoidance. On the other hand, others
adaptively and resiliently bounce back (Zeigler, 2014). Pollack (1988) stated, no matter how difficult
the situation, I will eventually find a way to cope with it (Pollack, 1988, p. 17). Pollack, is the example
of a person who through optimism, a good support network, resilience, and stress related growth, she
was able to get through stressful time by coping with the loss successfully (Ziegler, 2014). In 1988,
Pollack shares her own experience of losing her husband to colon cancer and how she managed to get
herself and family through it. I particularly learned something interesting about Pollack s experience,
as she stated, that she was grieving, long before his death (Pollack, 1988). Therefore, as she dealt with
her own reality, the ups and the downs, Pollack was ready to be confronted by

Pinderfield Hospital Interview Report
06 01 2017: Interview as a Safety Support Worker for MidYorks Hospital.
I had an interview for a new job today at Pinderfields Hospital. The interview went really well and the
Senior Sister gave me an offer instantly. However upon realising that I could only work part time (23
hours/ week) and not a bank position, I started to wonder whether the job will be suitable for me.
Initially was really keen in getting the job because I was fed up of cleaning the wards for mediocre
results. I was even more delighted that there was an opportunity to work at Dewsbury Hospital, as I
missed volunteering there a lot. However I was upset that a bank position was not available (despite
advertising it) and that I had to work contracted hours.
The interview went well. This was no surprise as a lot of the questions were based on protocols and
the job description (which I knew fairly well). There was one question that did throw me; asking how
I could improve a patient s memory (and therefore, decrease the risk of dementia). I tried to stay calm
throughout, however, I did feel like I mumbled a lot in my answers. However the Senior Sister insisted
that I worked on her ward (a stroke rehab), so I m glad I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was put down as I had just received my first decline from Huddersfield. It was worse when some
people had already said that they d received offers from other universities. Regardless, I decided to
give it my best shot. I arrived with plenty of time to spare, as well as having a healthy breakfast. The
day started with a presentation on the University in general followed by a presentation on Child
Nursing. The group that I was in would do a group exercise first, with interviewers going around and
asking questions. The first part was introducing myself to my group (consisting of 2 other people) and
then introducing someone else to everyone else. We were then given four questions for everyone to
discuss. These

The Smaller Pieces of the Big Christmas Puzzle
(HOOK) As Charles W. Chesnutt once said, We sometimes underestimate the influence of little things.
(http://quoteaddicts.com/748653) (C.I) Most people think of Santa, presents, and candy canes when
they are asked what resembles Christmas while overlooking the smaller symbols and traditions. (GS
1) A timely tradition shared among the past and present people of society is Secret Santa. (GS 2)
Although it is widely popular, it is also commonly underrated as one of the representations of
Christmas, this being seasonal light shows. (GS 3) Broken down, most elements of Christmas are

(REWORDING OF MA) Flashing back to the past, Christmas lights were first created by scientists in
the 1800 s. (M1 FOR MA) During the Christmas season of 1880, Thomas Edison introduced the first
outdoor electric Christmas light display to the modern people of the world. Edison showed these, at
the time magnificent creation on the outside of his laboratory, and many came to and sat on the
railroads to see them. (M2 FOR MA) Not too soon after, Edward Johnson, who was an intern under
the scientist Thomas Edison, created the first string of Christmas lights. (REWORDING OF MB)
Going back to the modern day, lights have turned from simple decorations to extravagant
competitions. (M1 FOR MB) Families all over the world during the Christmas season, put up lights in
honor of the season. Some homes go as far as to set up months before, in order to have the best

  • 8. Achilles And Agamemnon In The Iliad In ancient Rome and ancient Greece, myths were an oral tradition of storytelling that served to answer two primary purposes. The first role was to create stories that responded to unanswerable questions such as Why is there thunder? and the second function of myths, about gods, goddesses, monsters, and heroes, was to give structure to their society and culture in psychological manifestations. In addition, the gods and prophecies served as a reminder to the characters that they don t ultimately have any control over their lives. This epic poem by Homer is not just a simple story of an argument between Achilles and Agamemnon or the well known story of the war but also has a psychological theme incorporating anger, especially Achilles as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, as Achilles chases Hector around the walls of Troy in Book Twenty two, Athena appears disguised as one of his companions and convinces him to stop running and to fight Achilles together. Hector falls for the trick and turns to fight Achilles before realizing his betrayal by the Gods and perishes from Achilles rage. Another example is in Book Eight when Zeus forbids the gods to take part in the day s fighting, then the battle begins, and Zeus disregards his own command and supports the Trojans so that they are winning. Then, Diomedes restores the Greeks to a superior position. Zeus retaliates by helping the Trojans again. Hera, who always seems to try and mediate, is unsuccessful in her intervention and the Greeks start losing badly. Next, Teukros restores the Greeks to a higher position. Zeus becomes angered by this action, so he helps the Trojans begin to take the lead in the war. Then, Hera attempts to intervene again and is unsuccessful. Night arrives, and the Trojans are so happy with their victory. This almost ludicrous battle among the God s represents the theme of anger as they experience strong emotions as well as the humans. Ultimately, the humans do not have control over their lives as the God s quarrel over the sake of humans. Many people know the history of the lightbulb and who created; however, many people like myself have little to no knowledge about the creator of the television, when it was created, and the purpose of it. This paper will discuss the history of TV, manufacturing companies behind this magical device, consumer profile on the users of it, global application, marketing strategies used to sell the product, and future predicaments on the technological advances in the upcoming years. Keywords: Television, consumers, device, technology, history, marketing, manufacture, product, worldwide, and future. My topic of choice is the television. I chose to write about it because it is the only technological device my family does not use. Although we have a television, it is never on because other companies like Netflix and news sites on the internet are taking over people s interest considering it is much more portable. I thought it would be interesting to learn about the history of TV and the future of it. I have witnessed how television screens went flat. If you enter any home in today s day and age you can see that nobody owns a tube style television or CRT. It is interesting to see consumers racing to receive the latest technological devices. • 11. The Debate On Animal Rights There are two major schools of thought on animal protection. First, is the tenet that animals should have rights and the second, more radical view, is that animals should be liberated. Many of the rights that are promoted for animals are similar to the rights of human democratic societies. The basic rights, which are recommended by a number of advocates, are that animals should be free from suffering, be in possession of their own life, and their basic interests should be given the same consideration as humans (Taylor, 2009). The more extreme view, is that animals should be considered as people and not property (Francione, 2008). There are a number of leading philosophers that have published opinions on the legitimacy of animal rights. The debate on animal rights has been discussed since close to the beginning of historical time. The reference in the Bible of Adam having dominion over the fish, birds, and animals that inhabit the earth implies ownership or some form of property rights to the animals (Francione, 1995). The implication was that man was superior to animals because he was created in the image of God. The Greek philosopher Aristotle based his opinions on the idea that animals did not have the ability to reason and so they were below humans (Taylor, 2009). Rene Descartes, a French philosopher who is known as the father of modern philosophy, had a tremendous influence on the animal rights debate and his opinions are still being quoted today in papers and ... It starts with mystery tension because threatening things are happening to peter and he does not know and it is surprize tension because we did not expect the spider to lash out at peter. In this scene the mystery and surprise is also emphasised through the music used. Another example Of tension of mystery is when They are on the excursion looking at the spider, Mary Jane says there is only fourteen spiders when the woman said that there should be fifteen. • 14. ##s And Weaknesses And Strengths Of Rudy Giuliani Like all famous leaders, Rudy Giuliani had his fair share of strengths and weaknesses. Giuliani showed the country and the world what true leadership was in the wake of 9/11. During a time of crisis, he demonstrated courageousness, dedication and composure. Even though Giuliani is mostly remembered for his strengths, his weaknesses are usually overlooked. He was criticized for being unfaithful and allowing lust to break up his marriage. Another weakness of Giuliani was his inconsistency to reprimand his police force. Giuliani was a man of positivity. No matter the situation, Giuliani always looked at the positive side of things and didn t allow his emotions to get the best of him. This strength of his leadership style stemmed from the core values his father taught him. In an interview with Barbara Walters, Giuliani talked about what his father taught him. Giuliani explained that his father had taught him how to act during a crisis: When there is a crisis going on, the most important thing is to be calmer. If everybody s getting very upset and very emotional, the best way to figure out your way through it is to actually become calmer and relax more. He understood that when in a time of uncertainty, being calm was the key. Another key strength of Giuliani was how he was a natural born leader. She was recently prescribed a new medication by her physician, which she cannot afford. As Mrs. Jones nurse, it is my responsibility to advocate for her by providing education and sharing information on the multiple different avenues available to decrease the cost of the medication prescribed. I will identify three strategies in which I can help Mrs. Jones afford her medication. Secondly, I will identify a financial assistance program which she might qualify for. A Good Man Is Hard To Find By Joyce Carol Oates In the stories A Good Man is Hard to Find, by Flannery O Connor and Where Are You Going Where Have You Been, by Joyce Carol Oates, the authors illustrate the attitudes that people possess toward death. O Connor is considered to be motivated by religious appeal, whereas Oates writes to depict the temptation of death. Those that have no choice in their death see it as a punishment, while those that choose to die see it as a blessing. Through the use of symbolism, diction, and comparisons, O Connor and Oates shed light on the differing perspectives of death. O Connor s character, The Misfit, is depicted as an escaped prisoner that is responsible for the death of a family traveling to Florida on vacation. Upon closer examination, it becomes evident that The Misfit is symbolic of death when he remarks that there never was a body that give the undertaker a tip. (510) It can be concluded that he sees himself to an undertaker, but instead of preparing a body for a funeral, The Misfit is preparing the family for the afterlife. Oates s character, Arnold Friend, is also symbolic of death, in that he tempts a young, depressed girl to commit suicide. This comparison first becomes clear when he drew an X in the air, and called it My sign. (311) Arnold Friend s actions represent death, or the grim reaper, crossing off the names of those that had died. Both novels have a similar background but with a different twist. Austin s description of writing is seen to be related to a more realistic and satire approach, whereas Bronte s style seems to be a bit gothic. Furthermore, both novels have a romantic presentation of two very unique genders that fall deeply in love with one another. Darcy becomes more loveable when he writes his letter to Elizabeth about the truth of his life situations with Wickham; however he is also seen to ripen when paying the dowry for Mr. Bingley when Elizabeth s younger sister runs off with Wickham. Evidentially, Heathcliff and Darcy are no big comparison; however, Heathcliff s love for Catherine was outstanding. His ideal holding was the grudge he had toward the Earnshaws, especially Hindley for not being allowed to be with Catherine. He seemed to have a very strategic plan on getting revenge on the Lintons, Earnshaws, and especially Hindley. Heathcliff was always seen as the outcast and was not payed much attention to, as he became older his affection towards Catherine grew, causing him to want to prove his social status in Wuthering Heights. When Billy s brother has a go at the teacher when she says that Billy missed a dance audition, this is stereotyping because the brother has a go at the teacher and says that he would be embarrassed to have a brother that dances and that he doesn t want a gay for a brother. This is stereotyping against dancers and gays, because not all dancers are gay, just because they like dancing and there isn t anything wrong with being gay just as long as u don t try and get other people to join you. • 21. Summary Of John Locke s Second Treatise Of Civil Government John Locke: Second Treatise of Civil Government 1. John Locke s Second Treatise of Civil Government was first published in 1690. In 1688, the Glorious Revolution came over England. King James II was overthrown, and King William and Queen Mary were brought to England with the help of the Whigs, with whom Locke had very strong connections. Locke chose to attack the idea of absolute monarchy, and supported the idea of overthrowing an unappreciated ruler, e.g. the events of the Glorious Revolution. 2. Locke refers to the laws of nature as the first government of the human race, in its basest and original form: [W]e must consider what estate all men are naturally in, and that is...within the hounds of the laws of Nature (paragraph 1). This is beneficial to society in that no one will want to make the group state worse for every member, Rousseau says. Additionally, every member of the societal body will wish to aid the others, as they are able to move as one. An offense to one member of the body is now an offense to all members. 4. Rousseau seems to not really believe in the sustainability of individualism. His social contract demands that all follow along with the general will, no matter what they personally believe. In fact, he says any man who separates from the general will shall be forced to go along with what is best for the society. 5. Rousseau explains that direct democracy is the only true form of appropriate government. He argues that the will of the people cannot be represented, or it will be corrupted, and only by direct vote and ratification by the people can laws be valid and acceptable, as they are truly the will of the people. Representative democracy is unacceptable, because those appointed to work for the people cannot adequately represent them, as they are different people. 6. During the first session of MOP, everyone was tasked with forming their own small project team. The very first class workshop activity involved meeting two new people and introducing one of them to the entire class. The aim of the activity was to indirectly assess who we would want to be in a team with, based on our perceptions of a person s behaviour, values, and work ethic. Most people would want to be in a team with people similar to them on a surface level (age, gender, ethnicity) and on a deeper level (personality, attitudes, believes, values) (Liang, Shih, Chiang, 2015). We were free to choose whoever we wanted in our team under the condition that the team we form is diverse. My team members are Sara, Wei, Rijuta, Rohit, and Craig. We are one of the more, if not most, culturally diverse groups in the class because we hail from China, India, New Zealand and the Philippines. When looking at our majors, there was not much diversity because five of us are in Marketing and only Rohit is in Global Business. Only four of us in Marketing have been classmates in the previous term and prior to this term, we never experienced working together as a team. Early Childhood Memory and Attention as Predictors of Academic Growth Trajectories Memory plays a very important role in our academic growth and improving our skills. The purpose of this paper is to review a study by Stipek Valentino (2015), which examines associations between attention and memory and academic skill development. Stipek Valentino (2015) used longitudinal data from the children of the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth to measure how well attention and short term and working memory in early childhood predict growth trajectories in both math and reading comprehension through adolescence and education attainment in young adulthood (Stipek Valentino, 2015). The study indicated that the relationship between working memory and attention in academic outcomes was observed to be strong and positive in early childhood but not significant during the later years (Stipek Valentino, 2015). The results of the study suggest that core cognitive capacities predict learning in the early elementary grades, but the relationship weakens by late elementary school. These findings suggest that while efforts to develop attention and memory may improve academic achievement in the early grades, during the later grades interventions that focus directly on learning the subject matter are more likely to improve academic achievement (Stipek Valentino, 2015). In 1714, the British Government was stuck for a solution to what they called The Longitude Problem which made sailing difficult and deadly (killing 1,000s of seamen every year) (Thomas, 2011). Inaccurate Longitude charts were causing sailors to be lost at sea, and in some cases people starved. Seeking innovation, the British Government offered £20,000 for people to invent a solution (£20,000 in 1714 is around $4.7 million dollars in 2010) (Thomas, 2011). Innovative scientists and sailors came together to formulate information that is more accurate. This is possibly the first ever example of crowdsourcing; thus, solving the problems for many sailors. This example of crowdsourcing is a great one because it highlights one of the principles of crowdsourcing innovation and creativity can come from anywhere (Thomas, 2011). Molten metal filters generally come in two forms: a porous foam like structure with interconnected pores that vary in direction or cross section, or an extruded porous cellular or honeycomb structure with cells of various shapes (square or triangular) and constant cross section. Though globally the most popular type of filter is foam, cellular filters are used in 75% of applications in North America. Filters can have either open cells or closed cells. Open cell (reticulate) filters consist of a network of interconnected voids surrounded by a web of ceramic and are widely used for molten metal filtration. Closed cell filters (foams) consist of a similar network but the beams are bridged by thin faces which isolate the individual cell. The open porosity in an open cell structure is critical in filter applications. I analyze that particular symbol and how I believe it is to be presented throughout the narrative. In the case of Their Eyes Were Watching God, I recognized that Janie s hair would have a significant place in the themes of the novel. Within the opening paragraphs, Janie stares at herself in a picture and her identity arises from her hair seen it was mah dress and mah hair Her identity then shifts to the color of her skin Aw, aw! Ah m colored! (9), however the symbolism of her hair would be more powerful than the color of her skin. After this particular passage, I realized that this is not a novel so much about race as it is what it means to be a woman. Zora Neale Hurston is writing to an audience of women who will identify with Janie the definition of femininity wrapped up in the hair. Even after her marriage to Logan, she still has a thread of the passion for life and yearns for adventure. Logan reinforces the beauty of her flowing hair because he runs his fingers through it and only after he stops she begin to dream of flight. Many women enjoy having their beauty adored and when the adoration ceases they might begin to question the sense of self. Janie begins to question her place in life and her freedom comes in the form of a whistle from Joe Starks. She notices Joe Starks walking down the road and runs to the water pump to gain his attention. Her heavy hair falls down ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Essay on tuskegee syphilis study The Tuskegee Syphilis Study was an unethical prospective study based on the differences between white and black males that began in the 1930 s. This study involved the mistreatment of black males and their families in an experimental study of the effects of untreated syphilis. With very little knowledge of the study or the disease by participants, the Tuskegee Syphilis Study can be seen as one of the worst forms of injustices in the United States history. Even though one could argue that the study was originally intended to be for good use, the Tuskegee Syphilis Study was immoral and racist because only poor, uneducated black males were used in experiment, the participants were not properly informed of their participation in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Macon County, Alabama, about 40% of African Americans had syphilis. Syphilis caused by a spirochete bacterium that is contracted sexually. In the 1930 s it had relatively no cures or treatments. Syphilis progresses into three stages, the last of which begins to attack the several organ systems of the individual. The victim may become paralyzed, blind and/or deaf; develop heart problems or a mental illness, or other symptoms (Gray 37 38). They decided that they wanted to compare and contrast how blacks and whites develop the disease and the effects on each race. Years before the study of the Negro was set to begin, a similar study for whites was conducted in Oslo, Norway. This study was a retrospective look into the effects of untreated syphilis in whites. The retrospective study used case histories of those who had syphilis when they died not living patients. The U.S. Public Health Service decided to use African Americans in Macon County in the experiment. Originally titled The Effects of Untreated Syphilis in the Negro Male the experimentations took place at the Tuskegee Institute which is why the study is generally named the Tuskegee Syphilis Study (Jones 93 94). The Rosenwald Fund, a foundation that funded many programs that were used in the betterment of African Americans began funding this project. After the Stock Market crash of 1929, and the start of the Great Depression, the Rosenwald Fund has to withdraw all the funds that they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Examples Of Procedural Safeguards According to Nancy Chi Cantalupo, writer in the University Chicago Law Journal, twenty to twenty five percent of college women are victims of attempted or completed nonconsensual sex (Burying Our Heads 207). In October 2014, an eighteen year old freshman at Old Dominion University was sexually assaulted. She reported her case to the ODU Police Department where she was treated as a suspect rather than a victim (Jane). The university police department denied this young woman of many things such as a medical examination right away, food, drinks and even did not allow her to use the bathroom (Jane). These factors caused her to suffer multiple injuries mentally, emotionally, and physically (Jane). Many cases of on campus sexual assault has come ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The local police department can be a mentor to the university police department. They can help train in trauma skills as well as investigative skills. It is important to know how to investigate a person with little skepticism, because during trauma the too much skepticism can turn a person away. It is already difficult for a victim to go and report a crime because it requires them to relive that dreadful moment again, and that is why some victims are scared to go to local police department, but this can happen with the university police as well. In the ODU vs Jane Doe case she was interrogated with much skepticism, which had results such as depression, anxiety, insomnia, and weight loss (Jane). On the other hand, if you investigate the victim like there is no chance at all that they could be lying than that leave the accuser hopelessly and they could be innocent. The accused sometimes go to the university expected to already be guilty before even presenting their side. Nancy Chi Cantalupo, writer in Journal of College and University Law, acknowledges in Decriminalizing Campus Institutional Responses to Peer Sexual Violence , that universities decriminalize sexual assault crimes, and due to this, a lot of rights are lost. Due to the matter that universities cannot enforce criminal laws, they are not required to grant full due ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The Separation Of What A Boy Or A Girl Stories surround most young children in a pleasant way. As soon as they will listen to a book, they are shown different adventures and characters that they are supposed to wish to be. When they finally pick out books for themselves there seems to be an idea of a divide between what a boy will choose to read and what a girl will. This anxiety is not new, but instead the product of thoughts founded back in the 19th century. Although not as present in today s literature, the separation of what a boy or a girl will read is still presented as if it a problem in the book market. Children s novels began not just as tools just for the benefit of literacy, but as ideal characters to model behavior. In the 19th century the American Sunday School Union began to create books for children that would help develop morally (Foreman, History of Adolescent Literature). These literature books had obvious religious themes and presented didactic lessons meant to show children the consequences of failing to be proper. A perfect example of this kind of novel is Hubert Lee: Or How a Boy May do Good, by Herbert Lee. The very introduction of this book announces its intentions, The author trusts [this book] will be read with interest, and every child will resolve, by God s help, to go and do likewise. (i, Lee). The idea was that a novel was to not be solely for pleasure, but it should do something to advance the children s idea of how to act in the world. This idea was developed further to fit ... • 43. Moral Decay In The Odyssey One of the most prominent themes of Hesiod s works of literature is the moral decay of the characters conveyed within them. Most if not all of the characters within his stories experience a change within character, moral standing and various religious behaviors to express the evolution of the individual within the given situation. There are many great examples of this ideology portrayed in the novel The Argonautika such as the goddess Medea and the heroic hero of the new age, Jason. There are many instances where Hesiod clearly depicts changes in character throughout time. More specifically for the major character Jason who chosen to be a new figure within literature. Jason begins to stand in for an epic hero in a new aged society. Over the course of the novel the narrator repeatedly compares the old kings and heroes to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In previous narratives such as The Odyssey Odysseus never came out of character, disowned the beliefs of his land nor diminish his morals for any reasoning. Odysseus was a King who his land would recognize as a strong empowered individual who never argued with words, instead took lives who dared to threaten his existence, whereas Jason does not find the desire to physically commit to battle unless deeply necessary and even then, he will be bewildered by the slightest thought of going into such intense circumstances. In this specific scene he states that if talking does not conclude the situation he will have to think of another plan, but later states he will then resort to discussing with him to give up the Golden Fleece. Shortly after this helpless scene Jason encounters Madea who in essence is one of the main reasons Jason is able to accomplish the mission of obtaining the Golden Fleece but is later on manipulated by this hero like ... • 44. Types Of Stress And Loss Everyone at any given age is faced with different types of stress and loss. As human beings we continuously evolve onto the next phase of our lives, which bring on new challenges and stress. Ziegler (2014) indicated that it s a reminder that adult development encompasses both growth and decline (Ziegler, 2014). Unfortunately, not everyone is equipped to deal with stress, consequently resorting to maladaptive coping skills, such as: self indulging in over eating, smoking, and drinking alcohol. Likewise, when dealing with loss, there are maladaptive coping skills, which are similar as the ones described for stress, but also some may lash out or avoidance. On the other hand, others adaptively and resiliently bounce back (Zeigler, 2014). Pollack (1988) stated, no matter how difficult the situation, I will eventually find a way to cope with it (Pollack, 1988, p. 17). Pollack, is the example of a person who through optimism, a good support network, resilience, and stress related growth, she was able to get through stressful time by coping with the loss successfully (Ziegler, 2014). In 1988, Pollack shares her own experience of losing her husband to colon cancer and how she managed to get herself and family through it. I particularly learned something interesting about Pollack s experience, as she stated, that she was grieving, long before his death (Pollack, 1988). Therefore, as she dealt with her own reality, the ups and the downs, Pollack was ready to be confronted by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Pinderfield Hospital Interview Report 06 01 2017: Interview as a Safety Support Worker for MidYorks Hospital. I had an interview for a new job today at Pinderfields Hospital. The interview went really well and the Senior Sister gave me an offer instantly. However upon realising that I could only work part time (23 hours/ week) and not a bank position, I started to wonder whether the job will be suitable for me. Initially was really keen in getting the job because I was fed up of cleaning the wards for mediocre results. I was even more delighted that there was an opportunity to work at Dewsbury Hospital, as I missed volunteering there a lot. However I was upset that a bank position was not available (despite advertising it) and that I had to work contracted hours. The interview went well. This was no surprise as a lot of the questions were based on protocols and the job description (which I knew fairly well). There was one question that did throw me; asking how I could improve a patient s memory (and therefore, decrease the risk of dementia). I tried to stay calm throughout, however, I did feel like I mumbled a lot in my answers. However the Senior Sister insisted that I worked on her ward (a stroke rehab), so I m glad I ...
