Gatorade s Short Independent Clause
Compared to Rovell, Mattern chose to use very basic sentence structures that would be easy for a
juvenile level reader to understand. Mattern often uses short independent clauses that include a variety
of subject, verb, and object sentence constructions. Which on occasion include limited use of
dependent clauses creating a complex sentence. Mattern However, in doing so she missed several
critical events in Gatorade s history that aid in telling a more complete story. For example So by 1971,
UF filed a lawsuit against Cade and the other doctors. Finally in July 1972, the doctors agreed to give
the school 20 percent of Gatorade s total earnings. (Mattern, 21). When she explains the lawsuit
between Robert Cade and the University of Florida over

The History Of The Orff Schulwerk Approach To Music Education
Introduction The Orff Schulwerk ( Schulwerk being the German translation for school work )
approach to music education is one of the most commonly used methods of teaching music in the
twenty first century. This interactive method of music education is most commonly used for
elementary students, but can be applied to teach secondary students as well. Developed by composers
Carl Orff (1895 1982) and Gunild Keetman (1904 1990), the Orff Schulwerk method focuses on
teaching students by using elemental music, meaning music that children are naturally inclined to
make, similar to the natural way that children learn speech and language. The Orff Schulwerk method
also places a strong emphasis on the areas of exploration and experience.
The History of the Orff Schulwerk Method Carl Orff was born in Munich, Germany on July 10, 1895.
After his schooling and his tenure in the German army, Orff began intensely studying 16th and 17th
century music. Orff founded the Güntherschule, a movement school, with Dorothee Günther in 1924;
the students (numbering seventeen) ranged from ages 18 to 22, and were all female. Orff wrote that
improvisation was the beginning foundation for making elemental music, particularly rhythmic
improvisation. Orff s emphasis on elemental music likely stemmed from the work of Wassily
Kandinsky, who wrote on the internalization of movement for dance forms that would emerge in the
future. Students from Orff s school began performing and using improvisation on

One Survivor Remembers Film Analysis
In the movie One Survivor Remembers narrated by Gerda Weissmann there are various scenes that are
very powerful. One of many scenes that I feel was the most powerful to me was when Geirda
explained to us how she left her mother. I m not that certain as how she told her story, but I remember
her saying it started with SS officers coming to her town and taking all the women in cattle cars. Since
Geirda was young they sent her with the other young girls of the town and separated her from her
mother since her mother was older of age. Her mother and her would then be separated from each
other and unfortunately never see each other again. She explains that when they grouped her up with
the younger girls in the town and she saw how her mother was sent with ... Show more content on

A SS officer had to grab her and take her off from her mother. The SS officer had told her that she was
too young to die and for that reason she could not go with her mother. This scene was the most
powerful and tragic to me because I myself could not bare being apart form my mother in such a time
like back then. I possibly could just not imagine my life without my mother. My mother is my all and
everything. For that reason I believe that particular scene felt so powerful specifically to me. This
scene could offer various lessons or messages, but the one I think is the biggest is to value and respect
your parents because you never know if you will see them the next day. The Nazis dehumanized Jews
in many ways. One of the ways Jews were dehumanized was by transporting them to places in
cramped cattle cars like if they were some type of animals. They were called animals and made less
of. An object was valued more than they were. The Nazis took all their rules and mortalities including

The Public School Education System Essay
New York City consists of five boroughs, Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, and Staten Island.
The borough that I reside in is Brooklyn. Brooklyn has approximately 2.592 million people inhabiting
this district and approximately 23.4 percent of individuals who reside in Brooklyn, NY come from a
low income household or in other words come from poverty. With catholic and private schools being
expensive, people have to rely on the education system to provide their children with a good
education. In this paper I will be discussing the public school education system ranging solely up to
high school in Brooklyn New York and giving a general idea of the New York education system as
well. Education is the foundation to secure an individual in having a better future and a successful
career in life. Public education primarily falls upon the state and local government to take charge of,
which get divided up into local school districts that are managed by school boards. School boards are
an elected body corporate which manages delegated powers in regards to the deliver of education
service within a defined territory (Duhaime s Law Dictionary) . Each state has its own department of
education and laws regulating finance, the hiring of school personnel, student attendance, and
curriculum (Corsi Bunker, Antonella). Out of all 51 states in the United States, New York was ranked
as number 25 in regards to the school system (Bernardo, Richie, 2016), and out of all five boroughs

Global Marketing Strategy
Product Development
Product design development is an activity where the potential to globalize needs to be examined
carefully. A globally standardized product can be made efficiently at a low cost but may end up
pleasing few customers. On the other hand, customized products targeted at different markets across
the world may be too expensive. The trick, as in the case of other value chain activities is to identify
those elements of the product which can be standardized across markets and those which need to be
customized.
Japanese companies such as Sony and Matsushita have been quite successful in marketing
standardized versions of their consumer electronics products. These companies had limited resources
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, even for these products, local customization may be required in engineering, installation,
sales, service and financing schemes. In the case of financial services, institutional products tend to be
more global than the retail ones.
Consider a product like cars. Traditionally, car manufacturers have developed hundreds of models to
meet the needs of different markets without exploring the possibilities that exist for standardization.
Proliferation of models has resulted in unused capacities and inefficiencies. In the global automobile
industry today, substantial excess capacity exists. Under these circumstances, car manufacturers are
looking for ways to cut costs. One approach has been to select common platforms and build models of
different shapes around these platforms. The idea here is that the basic functionality of a car can be
extended globally while features and shape are customized to appeal to different consumer tastes in
various parts of the world. Ford and Toyota have made a lot of progress in standardizing the platforms.
Other automobile companies are also laying a lot of emphasis in this regard.
Market Research
Now, let us move on to another important marketing activity, market research. Some elements can
probably be standardized. For example, the sample to population ratio can be controlled globally. The
information to be collected for each product category can also be

American Cowboy Research Paper
The American cowboy s heyday only lasted about twenty years, from 1880 1900. The men that were
called cowboy were mostly just work hands moving from place to place looking for work. The Real
cowboys were nothing much like what we envision them today or how Hollywood has portrayed
them, but that does not really matter, the Idea of the cowboy and his code has shaped America in many
different ways. The Cowboy became a symbol of honesty, hardworking, moral men not afraid to stand
up to evil. American excelptialism fit right into the cowboy idea, and the love of the cowboy and
fascination with him has affected how America looked at herself, how others saw her and even today
we see the cowboy all around us. The brutality of the civil war, followed by reconstruction was a time
of disenchantment for many in America, the stories of the Wild West and cowboy quickly became
popular. American was still learning to define herself, separating from the Victorian age and coping
with corruption, America needed a hero. The lone man riding high, living a life of adventure,
answering to only the call of the trail made a mighty fine picture. The Virginian, published in 1902
started the image of the cowboy and cemented him as the romantic cowboy we think of today. Once
the dime store novels hit the press and pictures stories of Wild Bill Hickok, ... Show more content on

Supersize Me Mr Morgan Spurlock
During the documentary Supersize Me, Mr. Morgan Spurlock embarks on a month long experiment, to
see how McDonalds would affect somebody s body if that is all they ate over the course of a month.
The rules that he created were reasonable while also potentially harmful. He decides to go on a
McDiet where he will eat only McDonalds, 3 meals a day, over the course of 30 days. Before starting
his experiment, he is seen by three doctors, a cardiologist, a gastroenterologist, as well as a general
practitioner. He also was seen by a nutritionist and a personal trainer. In order to mimic the everyday
life of a typical U.S. citizen, he decides to only walk a suggested amount of 5,000 steps per day. He
decides to only eat and drink items that are on the McDonald s menu. Which included bottled water.

lost his sex drive. Towards the end of the experiment, he was experiencing heart palpitations and is
told to stop the experiment immediately out of concern for his health. His health is compared to
Nicolas Cage in the movie Leaving Las Vegas who drinks himself to death over a similar time period.
One doctor states that the irreversible damage done to his heart could eventually cause a heart attack
even if he lost all of the weight gained during the experiment. He experienced mood swings, excessive
weight gain, heart palpitations, headaches, depression, irreversible damage to his heart as well as his
liver. He found it more difficult to lose the weight than it was to gain it. It took him 5 months to lose
20 pounds and another 9.5 months to lose the remaining 4.5

Dimmesdale Rapture
INSERT WILDLY CLEVER TITLE HERE Many classic story arcs employ what, in ancient Greek
dramas, are called instances of deus ex machina, or god from the machine. In these stories, an
unforeseen factor arrives and offers an apparent solution to what would otherwise be an insoluble
problem. Toward the end of Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter, the Puritan minister
Dimmesdale seems to find such a resolution for the inner torment he has imposed on himself in
atonement for his affair with Hester. While Dimmesdale s emotions escalate toward rapture at the
suggestion of leaving his life of outward piety and private shame behind, he remains constrained by
his past, both his moral foundation and the sin for which he is yet to take ... Show more content on

This ambiguity parallels the way he relishes the chance to start anew, but refuses to appreciate the
woman who grants him this chance, the human light source. Dimmesdale identifies the sense of
luminosity he feels as something his pleasure threw upon him. The verb to throw recalls the biblical
verse of John 8:7 when Jesus instructs a group of men who are stoning a woman to death for adultery
that whoever is without sin should be the first to cast a stone. The joy Dimmesdale feels in this scene
delivers itself to him with a verb which the bible applies to punishment. Consideration of the justice
which has not been administered disrupts the revelry that lands over the trouble of his breast. Because
of the magnitude of his past sin, present joy hovers above his troubles, rather than eclipsing them. So
long as Dimmesdale fails to take public responsibility for his actions, he will never feel pure joy. The
trouble remains upon his breast, in the very place where his female accomplice was forced to bear the
public consequence of their shared action alone. Still, the illusion of total joy intensifies.
Without the impositions of any outside religious organization, Dimmesdale believes himself to be
entirely free, though his devout, masochistic past continues to manifest itself. The second sentence is
far longer than the first, illustrating Dimmesdale s growing comfort with the once alien joy of
freedom. Dimmesdale enjoys the exhilarating

Evaluation a Course Book
Part 1
Selecting a course book is an important task for any English language teacher or evaluator.
Cunningsworth (1984) observes that few English language teachers do not depend on a course book.
For this reason, the selection of materials probably represents the single most important decision that
the language teacher has to make (Hutchinson, 1987, p. 37). It is very important that the teacher has
the capacity to evaluate any course book in order to choose the most effective and suitable one
(McDonough and Shaw, 1993; Littlejohn and Windeatt, 1988). According to Cunningsworth (1985, p.
14), the purpose of an evaluation is to investigate the strong and weak points in specific material.
However, the teacher can adapt the weak points of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1306) identifies the value of integrating these skills in the following observation: While reading and
listening are considered to be the two respective skills in language learning and use, writing and
speaking are the other two productive skills necessary to be integrated in the development of effective
communication. Integrated skills are essential for achieving successful language learning in both
lessons and activities (McDonough and Shaw, 2003).
3. Authenticity: The course book should provide an authentic language material for EFL learners by
covering a range of input. It should also provide the students with opportunities to use that language in
order to succeed in communicative purposes (Tomlinson, 2002, p. 21). As Graves (2000)
recommends, Activities should help students develop specific language and skills they need for
authentic communication (p. 153).
4. Attractiveness: The attractiveness of the book will facilitate the learning process by engaging the
students and ensuring that they do not feel bored. The attractiveness of the book can come in the form
of colours, pictures that inspire their imaginations and relate to real life, and a variety of interesting
topics that involve games and songs. This will increase the students motivation to learn
(Cunningsworth, 1995, p. 23). Such motivation should be appropriate for the learners ages, which in
this case is between 11 and 13 years old.
5. Cultural perspective: We have to develop our

Implicit Stereotyping And Evaluation
Stereotyping occurs when individuals form cognitive conceptions of out group members, associating
certain characteristics with that group (Smith and Mackie, 2007; Hamilton, 1981), whereas prejudice
is a positive or negative evaluation directed towards an out group (Smith and Mackie, 2007). Current
research depicts them as independent constructs, comprising different behavioural responses. An
interrelation is indicated by considerable indirect evidence, specifically that prejudice is an inevitable
consequence of stereotyping. Research demonstrates that cognitive processes trigger implicit
stereotyping and affective processes trigger implicit evaluation; inferring independence. Amodio and
Devine (2006) conducted several implicit association tests (IATs), concluding that stereotyping and
evaluation were uncorrelated. However their finding of a double dissociation implies a link, the
former being implicated in semantic learning and memory, and the latter in affective types. ... Show

The study used double dissociation designs, where implicit evaluation and stereotyping were assessed
separately to determine their effects on race biased behaviour, which implies high predictive validity,
as does the use of the IAT in proving that instrumental forms of race bias are the product of implicit
stereotyping, and consummatory forms the product of implicit evaluation. Contrarily, in the second
study, participants recorded their feelings towards an African American student, followed by
completing evaluative and stereotyping IATs; this raises the issue of causal inference due to demand
characteristics, compromising

Anglican Communion And Episcopal Communion
Recently, the Anglican Communion and the Episcopal Church have been in a lengthy and complex
disagreement regarding the role of the lesbian, gay, transgender, and bisexual members of the church
body and to what lengths the church should go in order to accept all the different sexual orientations
within its congregation. The Anglican Communion and the Episcopal Church have completely
disagreed on the Communions core doctrine during this debate and have not come even close to
creating a resolution. Disciplinary actions have been taken toward the Episcopal Church by the
Anglican Communion in hopes for a withdrawal, but the Episcopalians have promised to stand firm
on their very and beliefs for equality for all sexual orientations. Due to the recent conflicts between
the Anglican Communion and the Episcopal Church, the Episcopal Church must disband from the
Anglican Communion in the near future in order to maintain on the path of its calling of loving and
supporting the lesbian, gay, transgender, and bisexual members. In January of 2016, The Anglican
Communion suspended the Anglican Communion from its right to participate in the decision making
process in the Communion because of its public support and acceptance of the lesbian, gay,
transgender, and bisexual church members and their marriages within the church (King). But this
movement started awhile before the punishment when the Episcopal Church took a daring public
stand for its belief in equal rights for all sexual

During this experiment, one penny stayed almost the same, while the other one turned green and
completely changed. The experiments started with two cups. One was labeled water, while the other
one was labeled vinegar. In each cup, paper towels were placed at the bottom. In the cup labeled
vinegar, vinegar was added and in the cup labeled water, water was added. Then, one penny was
placed in each cup and observed on a span of four days. On the first day, penny A (cup with water)
looked the same. Penny B (cup with vinegar) had a strong smell and the penny looked shinier. Later
on in the week, penny A looked a little brown but mainly stayed the same. Penny B had some bubbles,

The first error that might have occurred was that the water and vinegar might have been covering the
entire penny and the penny might not have been exposed to enough air. If the penny was not exposed
to enough air, then the penny could have reacted differently toward the experiment. The paper towels
were dry towards the end of the experiment and more water and vinegar was not added to the cups.
This could have affected the way the penny was affected. With more water and vinegar, the pennies
may have gotten more green or may have has a stronger reaction. At the end of the experiment, the
pennies were taken out of the cups and placed a new paper towel. The towel was then labeled with
sharpies and left to sit there for a day. The different chemicals in the sharpies could have affected the
way the penny reacted. Since the sharpie marker was so close to the pennies, they could have easily
been affected. Another experiment that people may want to do next is to the same experiment, but
with different liquids. Instead of the vinegar being white vinegar, maybe one could try the experiment
with a different type of vinegar, like apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar has different ingredients
and could be affected differently and have very different results. To conclude, there were many
possible errors during this experiment and many scientific reasons on why the pennies reacted the way

The House of Bernarda Alba and A Doll s House, by Frederico Garcia Lorca and Henrik Ibsen
respectively, are two similar plays written at different times. In 1964, Frederico s The House of
Bernarda Alba debuted in Madrid Spain, thirty one years after it s birth in 1933. It pioneered the style
of surrealistic imagery, popular folklore and was written in prose. A Doll s House was published in

...History repeats itself (Garcia Lorca 169) was said in a comparison between Adela s mother and
grandmother. In the play, A Doll s House, Torvald allows his pride to come between him and his wife,
causing a deceitful marriage. Torvald once said ...happiness is not the question; all that concerns us is
to save the remains, the fragments, the appearance (Ibsen 63). Central to both plays, pride is seen
almost as a character. It sometimes holds characters back, while others it thrusts stumbling forward.
Always, however, its impact can be felt and its imprint can be seen.
The dominant characters in both plays are rulers of their domain. Bernarda self righteously rules her
household emphasizing pride and status. Even when her maid Poncia has valid opinions, she does not

Bernarda rules quick and harsh, as she wants to be a decisive ruler with no guidance. However,
Torvald is the ruler of a much smaller household. He wants his house to be a place of discipline, order,
and respect. As with Bernarda, dominance is based on pride. This is revealed when he said, I would
gladly work night and day for you...But no man would sacrifice his honor for the one he loves (Ibsen

Theme Of Domestic Violence In Wuthering Heights
In Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë (1847), there are multiple genres, notably Gothic and
Domestic. The usually very distinct genres of Domestic and Gothic are mixed together so well in the
book that it makes it impossible to categorise it properly as only one or the other. Emily Rena Dozier
makes the claim that Wuthering Heights...carefully breaks down [the] opposition between gothic and
domestic [genres] by illustrating the ways in which the domestic is predicated on acts of violence

The Negative Influence Of Sharks In Our Culture
When people hear the word ocean many things come to mind, sandy beaches, waves, and many
happier enjoyable things. Another word that comes to mind when people think of the of the word
ocean is sharks, for some the thought of sharks in the ocean is enough to keep them out of the water.
Throughout history sharks have had a presence in media and in our culture. The shark culture in media
plays a large role in movies like sharknado, Jaws and many other unrealistic shark movies. Sharks also
are a part of many different cultures. In the food chain and animal kingdom there are over 400
different shark species. Many of the well known shark species are the whale shark, great white shark,

The sharks that usually are portrayed in these movies are great white sharks. The larger the shark is
the more it is out for blood. In movies where there are sharks the sharks are very blood driven and of
large size. In the movie jaws the shark is large and in the events of the movie takes a large chunk out
of a boat by biting it. If jaws were an average and realistic sized shark, then biting the hole in the ship
would not have been possible. The shark s ability to damage and sink a large man made item makes it
seem more monstrous and scary. Sharks are very powerful apex predators, like many animals they are
made up of mainly muscle. When sharks attack people or other animals they do a lot of damage, when
combined the shark s strength and sharp teeth are dangerous. With the unlikely event of a shark attack
how they seem and are portrayed in media gives them a bad image. Victims of shark attacks, when

Makings of a Tragic Hero
A possible theme for Oedipus the King by Sophocles is that one s blindness can hide the inevitability
that is his destiny. Oedipus is in this situation. He struggles to escape his fate: killing his father and
marrying his mother and believes he is successful. Sophocles believes that the gpds control one s
destiny and the inevitability that a person will do what is destined despite there hero s
intentions.Oedipus represent the standards of a true tragic hero: he is well known, basically good, his
punishment is out of proportion compared to his crime, the audience at some point feels sorrow and
pity for him, and Oedipus has a tragic flaw. During the whole story Oedipus thinks that he may be able
to change his fate a live life how he wants but he falls to that which is his destiny. For these reason
Oedipus is truly an example of a tragic hero and is unable to avoid his tragic fate.
Oedipus is well known and prominent and that is important to making him a true tragic hero. A tragic
hero is always in a place of power usually politically. In the beginning of the story Oedipus is the son
of the queen and king of Thebes, but because of a prophecy his Father fears his child and expels him
out of the kingdom. Yet through strange transactions the baby ends up becoming the prince of Corinth,
but he leaves to try to escape his cruel fate. On his journey he encounters a sphinx, by solving the

An Integral Part Of The Culture Of Ancient Greece
Polytheism was an integral part of the culture of ancient Greece. Polytheism is the belief of multiple
gods. This allowed for a very diverse society in terms of belief and kept the conflicts between people
of different beliefs to a minimum, although not entirely. In ancient Greece, many of the people
followed one of the fourteen major gods, Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Apollo, Artemis, Aphrodite, Ares,
Dionysus, Hephaestus, Athena, Hermes, Demeter, Hestia, and Hera. These fourteen gods were the
cornerstones of Greek society, as each one had it s own group of devoted followers. Each group of
followers had their own unique way of following their own god.
The most prominent of these gods, was Zeus. Zeus was considered to be the King of Gods, as well as
the god of the sky. In many of the Greek legends he is the father of some of their greatest heroes, such
as Heracles and Helen of Troy. The followers of Zeus were split into many different cults, but almost
all of the Greek people would gather to pay tribute to the King of Gods at Olympia, the place where
the famous Olympic Games were held. An altar for Zeus resided there as well, but not one made of
stone, but of ash, from all the animal sacrifices that had been held there. Then said Jove, Juno, be not
so bitter. Their honour shall not be equal, but of all that dwell in Ilius, Hector was dearest to the gods,
as also to myself, for his offerings never failed me. Never was my altar stinted of its dues, nor

video plays are all examples of actions that business owners might want to track as events.
This feature tracks how many visitors clicked on ads and which signup form they use to subscribe to
newsletter. It provides the insights of how well each of them performs like who checks social media
profile, who gets on RSS feed. Based on those percentages business owners can choose what kind of
ads to display on the sidebar, their positions, or what signup form performs best and gives more
subscribers.
CUSTOM ALERTS
Google alerts act as a kind of watchdog for anomalies in data. Google analytics alerts work to let us
know of deviations from regular data trends that occur. The main point of alerts is to notify when
something out of the norm happens. If traffic tanks and business owners are not watching analytics
reports daily, an alert can help quickly notify in the event of traffic loss. When setting threshold limits,

Is Mayella Ewell Powerful Or Powerful Analysis
Is Mayella ewell powerful? That is the question that is asked and must be answered.Throughout the
story To kill a mockingbird Mayella shows some glimpses of power but not enough to say she is
powerful. For example in the beginning she shows that she can not even control her home life so how
can she be powerful. Also she shows that she is just too poor for her to have power. Now in the next
three paragraphs I will explain my thinking on why I believe Mayella is not powerful.
In the first paragraph I will explain why and how I believe Mayella Ewell is not powerful, with the use
of class.First off I would like to show you one of my biggest reasons for believing Mayella is not
powerful Maycombs Ewells lived behind the town garbage dump in what used to be a negro cabin .
(DBQ:Is mayella Ewell powerful?13)The second reason I believe Mayella Ewell is not powerful while
using class for my examples is that longs as he keeps on callin me ma am and sayin miss Mayella.I
don t hafta take his sass, I ain t called upon to take it (DBQ: Is Mayella Ewell powerful?.17). Now you
can see even in her dialect she does not know or have class, you can also tell by the way she is not
used to being called ma am and miss Mayella.Next I will show how much of a lower class the Ewells
are in Mayella Ewell must have the loneliest person in the world...; white people wouldn t have
anything to do with her because she lived among pigs (DBQ:Is mayella Ewell powerful 21).The final
reason I believe Mayella

General Approaches For Feature Selection
General Approaches for Feature Selection There are 3 types of approaches for feature selection
namely filter, wrapper, embedded method.
Filter method: Filter method does not involve a learning algorithm for measuring feature subset [6]. It
is fast and efficient for computation .filter method can fail to select the feature that are not beneficial
by themselves but can be very beneficial when unite with others. Filter method evaluates the feature
by giving ranks to their evaluation value. In filter method it evaluates the correlation between the
features by using criteria such as, mutual information, maximum length, maximum relevance min
redundancy (mRMR), PCA.
Figure 1.2 Filter approach
Wrapper method: wrapper method involve learning algorithm and search for optimal feature subset
from original feature set which discover the relationship between relevance and optimal subset
selection. It performed better than the filter method. The specific training classifier is used to evaluate
the performance of selected features. Figure 1.3 Wrapper approach
Embedded method: Embedded method is a combination of wrapper method and embedded method.
This decreases the computational cost than wrapper approach and captures feature dependencies. It
searches locally for features that allow better discrimination and also the relationship between the
input feature and the targeted feature. It involves the learning algorithm which is used to select
optimal subset among

Boarding School Research Paper
Boarding schools are scary enough for children who speak the same language. Imagine a village,
soldiers come in and take the children, age five and older, away in a wagon. The children arrive at a
school far away from home, family, and culture. Separated according to age and sex, stripped of their
clothes, bathed, and forced to stand still as they get their hair cut, many are crying, terrified of what is
happening. They receive uniforms, and new Christian names, thus stripping them of their identities.
Unfortunately, this is how most Indian children received an introduction to boarding school. The plan
was to use education to assimilate the children into the Christian culture. There is a thin line between
the success and failure of the assimilation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From 1940 1960 approximately 122,000 American Indians migrated from reservations to urban areas,
in an attempt to find work and self assimilate, due to the deplorable conditions of reservations within
the United States. In 1952 with the establishment of the Indian Bureau Relocation Program, Indians
began self assimilating with the promise of financial assistance to relocate to urban areas of the United
States. Whereas, the British Columbians granted citizenship to the Indians of their era and allow them
to choose whether they will live on the reserve or within the general population of the country. The
silent assimilation created by the relocation program and the decisions that the British Columbian
government made regarding the Indians was successful. The indication of this success is the fact that
twenty two percent of U.S. Indians and one third of British Columbia Indians live on reservations,
showing that silent assimilation with incentives is more successful than forced

Rhetorical Analysis Of Why Millennials Will Save Us All
Millennials may be criticized, but they are a generation like no other. In the article Why Millennials
Will Save Us All, Joel Stein asserts that millennials are a positive force of change. Stein s intent is to
convince his target audience, older generations who perceive millennials as lazy, entitled, selfish and
shallow (28), that they misunderstand millennials. He boldly claims that [millennials are] not a new
species; they ve just mutated to adapt to their environment (31). Stein persuades his audience that
millennials are most certainly a treasure trove of remarkable qualities. He accomplishes this by
switching tones in the middle of the article, using humorous language, and establishing credibility
through his mastery of logos. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first half of the article, Stein inserts disapproving evidence about millennial traits, pointing out
how 58% more college students scored higher on a narcissism scale in 2009 than in 1982 (28). Stein
provides these statistics to convince his target audience of his credibility by giving them evidence that
peaks the interest of their judgemental views. After his tone shift, Stein reveals all of his equally valid
data on the positive aspects of millennials. The audience discovers in the second half of the article that
nearly a quarter of DreamWorks 2,200 employees are under 30, and the studio has a 96% retention
rate (32). This supports Stein s claim by using logos to show millennials work ethic, one of their many
redeeming qualities. Since the audience has already accepted Stein s pessimistic evidence earlier in the
article, they are willing to accept his positive evidence as well. In this way, Stein avoids assaulting his
readers with evidence that supports his controversial claim by first easing his audience into his article
with evidence they readily agree with. By the end of his article, Stein has integrated enough logos to
convince his audience of the legitimacy of his claim while balancing out the informal sections of his

Wisconsin s Collective Bargaining Needs to End Essay
Lately in the news, there has been talk about budget and money crises; these problems have been in
many states and most recently in Washington D.C and Wisconsin. Governor of Wisconsin Scott
Walker has decided to address these budget predicaments by sharply curtailing the Wisconsin public
sector workers collective bargaining rights. The reaction from people in Wisconsin has been mostly
negative. However, Governor Walker was right in making cuts in the pay of public sector workers and
taking away their right to collective bargaining to help pay off the budget. The state has a $137 million
deficit, so curtailing collective bargaining rights will save the state $30 million in the current budget,
which ends June first. Collective bargaining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were state wide school cancellations; teachers would call in sick to take part in the protests.
Everyone involved in these demonstrations were all protesting the same issue: the fact that the
Governor of Wisconsin was going to take away their rights to collective bargaining; the irony of this is
that these protesters weren t also just from Wisconson, they were being sent in droves from different
states to support the union. The fear was that this could happen in their respective states. He says that
he needs to take this right away because in the upcoming biannual budget he would be introducing
there will be a $3.6 million deficit that will need to be bridged. He believes that it will be essential in
order to allow the state to actually balance its budget without laying any workers off (video citation)
The controversy behind this is that the people of Wisconsin believe that if the Governor takes away
collective bargaining, he will take away the rights of the people, especially public sector workers, such
as teachers and nurses. Governor Walker though is correct in taking this drastic measure because the
state currently has a $137 million deficit. They need some way to bridge this deficit, so why not take
out collective bargaining? Not all people agree with this way of thinking. Representative Jan
Schakowsky from Illinois wrote a statement on February 17, saying that under the guise of addressing

The Takers And The Leavers By Daniel Quinn
The story begins with Daniel Quinn writing about a day in his life, until he comes upon an absurd
advertisement in the personals section of the newspaper: TEACHER seeks pupil. Must have an earnest
desire to save the world. Apply in person. Suspicious, Quinn investigates this advertisement with
intentions of exposing fraud. Instead, he discovers Ishmael in Room 105 of a undistinguished office
building. Sitting calmly, Ishmael gently nibbled on a slender branch. Appalled, Quinn stumbled
towards the chair. Ishmael and Quinn gazed into each other s eyes, and much to his disgruntlement,
the glowing eyes spoke to him. Nodding his head to the unspoken question, Ishmael quietly said, I am
the teacher. Ishmael explains that Quinn is part of a culture, that results in him being taught certain
stories between the relationships of man, the world, and the Gods. These explanations will be made
clearer to the pupil by being assisted in recognizing why the stories are misleading. Ishmael s goal will
show the narrator that human history comes from two groups, the Takers and the Leavers. These
groups legislate two completely different stories about man, the world, and the Gods. Takers are the
humans who developed agriculture and civilization, who still dominate on Earth today. The Leavers,
in contradiction, are those who don t adopt agricultural practices and disregard the benefits of
civilization.
In lessons, Ishmael asks Quinn to explain other stories that the Takers imagine. The pupil

Fences Essay
The play Fences by August Wilson sets in 1957 just before the civil rights movement. The playwright
describes it as what we would infer present day to be Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The main character is
Troy Maxwell and the play is written to emphasize in Troys life who he was as a person and what
circumstances in his life made him who he is in the play. Important people in the play are Troy s wife
Rose, his young brother Gabriel. Troy s children Lyons (Oldest), Cory (middle), and Raynell
(youngest) and his best friend Bono. The play is coming of age: how Troy grows as a person and how
he impacts those closest to him. Wilson s use of Troy as a character is to show how deeply flawed he
was but was always seeking to do what was right ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cory was so hurt by his father actions that when he died he did not wished to attend his funeral for the
rencor he carried in his heart. Here Cory learns to forgive and grieves truly his father s death.
When Troy had his oldest son Lyons, he had to rob to maintain his family, until one day he killed
somebody and ended in the penitentiary. When he shot me I jumped at him with my knife. They told
me I killed him and they put me in the penitentiary... (55), because Troy was young and not experience
in life he made a huge mistake in robbing for a living and in doing so he killed a man: Troy stained his
hands with another person s blood. He turned those actions around, he was disappointed of who he
was at that young age and he stopped being a theif. In those 15 years in the penintiary he learned to
play baseball too and became excellent at it. That s what I was a robber. I ll tell you the truth. I m
ashamed of it today. But it s the truth. (54). At Troy s older age is when he realized that his past life
was wrong but he now has a true job and a right way to sustain his family.
Another flaw of Troy is to cheat on his wife Rose with a lady Alberta. At this time of the play Troy is
in his 50s and he hurts his wife telling her he will be somebody else s daddy. Rose: You telling me you
gonna be somebody else s daddy? You telling your wife this? (66). In this moment Troy is wife less.
He spent his time at his home and over at Albertas, and has to look over

Symbolism In The White Hotel
Representation of history in D. M. Thomas novel The White Hotel At first, when I started to read the
novel The White Hotel written by D.M. Thomas, I had the feeling that this novel is so vain and down
to earth, gray, and the parts with letters are so boring. I was ashamed of myself that I didn t appreciate
this book. Then when I came to the parts with erotic poems the disgust captured me and I wanted to
throw this book away from me. But the part that (invoked the most emotions)(touched my feelings the
most) is chapter five. I wanted to cry, I wanted to throw up, I wanted to forget about this book. I was
questioning the world, I am living in, the notion of being a human, the sanity of the society of the
previous century. This chapter V that describes the disgusting, Insane, horrifying massacre in Baby
Yar had left its mark on my soul. How could the author include this, sacred to many Ukrainian,
Russian Jews and not only Jews people, part of history in a work like this? For Ukrainian and Russian
people Babi Yar is not only a tragedy, it is the place where the earth is soaked with the sacrificial
blood. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Exactly in chapter V, where the Babi Yar is represented, we can clearly see the symptom of a mass
hysteria that disfigured the German society. Brainwashed by the idea of their superiority over other
nations, Hitler puppets bravely marched and exercised their rights to clean the world from unworthy
nations. Two hysterias meet here. The hysteria is the same illness, but in the smaller scale, that is
torturing the soul of the heroine of this novel. The author connects the illness of the main heroine with
the illness of the society that she lives, into several different levels. Her soul is like a radio that can
receive the waves from the stations, the bleeding wounds of the XX century. She can catch the signal
from the hunger of Vienna, from Kiev occupation,

The Genzanian Genocide And The Rwandan Genocide
The Rwandan Genocide took place for in 1994 where the Hutus began to massacre the Tutsis due to
many years of oppression aided by Belgian influences. While the Palestinian Genocide occurred
between 1947 1948 and Zionists wished to overtake Palestinian land and remove all Arab influences
while expanding upon their territory. Yet, the Rwandan Genocide and the Palestinian Genocide had a
distinguished similarity; to ethnically cleanse the land. Post WWII, Jew s wished for land separate
from European Anti Semitic beliefs. The Holocaust had further pushed Zionists agenda to take
Palestine due to their historical and religious background within the land. Thus, a significant amount
of Jews from Europe and America called for a separate Jewish state. During this time, Britain had a
mandate over Palestine and were authorized to rule the land. However, given that the dispute was
becoming increasingly controversial, the British withdrew from the conflict and gave authority of the
land to the UN. Then the UN had formed the UNSCOP, United Nation Special Committee on
Palestine. Their objective was to separate Jewish and Arab land. There the UN authorized the Israeli
state and caused the displacement of thousands of Palestinians. They had forced the Palestinians to
flee their villages in order to place arriving Jewish settlers. Various tactics were used to remove
Palestinians from the land. For instance. Israelis used arab radio broadcasts to inhibit fear within the
arab community. Such

Achieving Six National Education Goals
According to President Bush, he made an announcement on April 18, 1991 that he wanted to achieve
six national education goals by the year 2000. There are six objectives: 1. Make sure every student is

for all core subjects. 4. Make sure that a student have achieved in the math and science 5. To ensure

and will able to live upwards to his or her responsibilities of citizenship 6. Two free all schools from
drugs and violence so that learning can take place. Admitting that the White House tact sheet had

reasons. The reason being was that 8 years pursuing the publication of A Nation at Risk (1983),
educational results was not significantly improved. Second, our global participants and partners were
really taking education extremely well because American students were about the lynchpin of the large
numbers in worldwide assessments. Understandably, that a principal role for legislative initiative was
to accomplish competitive educational excellence, which would help to improve global economic
competitiveness. Reforms in Special education are facing significant reform. , because of the great

  • 2. Gatorade s Short Independent Clause Compared to Rovell, Mattern chose to use very basic sentence structures that would be easy for a juvenile level reader to understand. Mattern often uses short independent clauses that include a variety of subject, verb, and object sentence constructions. Which on occasion include limited use of dependent clauses creating a complex sentence. Mattern However, in doing so she missed several critical events in Gatorade s history that aid in telling a more complete story. For example So by 1971, UF filed a lawsuit against Cade and the other doctors. Finally in July 1972, the doctors agreed to give the school 20 percent of Gatorade s total earnings. (Mattern, 21). • 3. The History Of The Orff Schulwerk Approach To Music Education Introduction The Orff Schulwerk ( Schulwerk being the German translation for school work ) approach to music education is one of the most commonly used methods of teaching music in the twenty first century. This interactive method of music education is most commonly used for elementary students, but can be applied to teach secondary students as well. Developed by composers Carl Orff (1895 1982) and Gunild Keetman (1904 1990), the Orff Schulwerk method focuses on teaching students by using elemental music, meaning music that children are naturally inclined to make, similar to the natural way that children learn speech and language. The Orff Schulwerk method also places a strong emphasis on the areas of exploration and experience. The History of the Orff Schulwerk Method Carl Orff was born in Munich, Germany on July 10, 1895. After his schooling and his tenure in the German army, Orff began intensely studying 16th and 17th century music. Orff founded the Güntherschule, a movement school, with Dorothee Günther in 1924; the students (numbering seventeen) ranged from ages 18 to 22, and were all female. Orff wrote that improvisation was the beginning foundation for making elemental music, particularly rhythmic improvisation. Orff s emphasis on elemental music likely stemmed from the work of Wassily Kandinsky, who wrote on the internalization of movement for dance forms that would emerge in the future. Students from Orff s school began performing and using improvisation on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. One Survivor Remembers Film Analysis In the movie One Survivor Remembers narrated by Gerda Weissmann there are various scenes that are very powerful. One of many scenes that I feel was the most powerful to me was when Geirda explained to us how she left her mother. I m not that certain as how she told her story, but I remember her saying it started with SS officers coming to her town and taking all the women in cattle cars. Since Geirda was young they sent her with the other young girls of the town and separated her from her mother since her mother was older of age. Her mother and her would then be separated from each other and unfortunately never see each other again. She explains that when they grouped her up with the younger girls in the town and she saw how her mother was sent with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A SS officer had to grab her and take her off from her mother. The SS officer had told her that she was too young to die and for that reason she could not go with her mother. This scene was the most powerful and tragic to me because I myself could not bare being apart form my mother in such a time like back then. I possibly could just not imagine my life without my mother. My mother is my all and everything. For that reason I believe that particular scene felt so powerful specifically to me. This scene could offer various lessons or messages, but the one I think is the biggest is to value and respect your parents because you never know if you will see them the next day. The Nazis dehumanized Jews in many ways. One of the ways Jews were dehumanized was by transporting them to places in cramped cattle cars like if they were some type of animals. They were called animals and made less of. An object was valued more than they were. The Nazis took all their rules and mortalities including ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Public School Education System Essay New York City consists of five boroughs, Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, and Staten Island. The borough that I reside in is Brooklyn. Brooklyn has approximately 2.592 million people inhabiting this district and approximately 23.4 percent of individuals who reside in Brooklyn, NY come from a low income household or in other words come from poverty. With catholic and private schools being expensive, people have to rely on the education system to provide their children with a good education. In this paper I will be discussing the public school education system ranging solely up to high school in Brooklyn New York and giving a general idea of the New York education system as well. Education is the foundation to secure an individual in having a better future and a successful career in life. Public education primarily falls upon the state and local government to take charge of, which get divided up into local school districts that are managed by school boards. School boards are an elected body corporate which manages delegated powers in regards to the deliver of education service within a defined territory (Duhaime s Law Dictionary) . Each state has its own department of education and laws regulating finance, the hiring of school personnel, student attendance, and curriculum (Corsi Bunker, Antonella). Out of all 51 states in the United States, New York was ranked as number 25 in regards to the school system (Bernardo, Richie, 2016), and out of all five boroughs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Global Marketing Strategy Product Development Product design development is an activity where the potential to globalize needs to be examined carefully. A globally standardized product can be made efficiently at a low cost but may end up pleasing few customers. On the other hand, customized products targeted at different markets across the world may be too expensive. The trick, as in the case of other value chain activities is to identify those elements of the product which can be standardized across markets and those which need to be customized. Japanese companies such as Sony and Matsushita have been quite successful in marketing standardized versions of their consumer electronics products. These companies had limited resources ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, even for these products, local customization may be required in engineering, installation, sales, service and financing schemes. In the case of financial services, institutional products tend to be more global than the retail ones. Consider a product like cars. Traditionally, car manufacturers have developed hundreds of models to meet the needs of different markets without exploring the possibilities that exist for standardization. Proliferation of models has resulted in unused capacities and inefficiencies. In the global automobile industry today, substantial excess capacity exists. Under these circumstances, car manufacturers are looking for ways to cut costs. One approach has been to select common platforms and build models of different shapes around these platforms. The idea here is that the basic functionality of a car can be extended globally while features and shape are customized to appeal to different consumer tastes in various parts of the world. Ford and Toyota have made a lot of progress in standardizing the platforms. Other automobile companies are also laying a lot of emphasis in this regard. Market Research Now, let us move on to another important marketing activity, market research. Some elements can probably be standardized. For example, the sample to population ratio can be controlled globally. The information to be collected for each product category can also be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. American Cowboy Research Paper The American cowboy s heyday only lasted about twenty years, from 1880 1900. The men that were called cowboy were mostly just work hands moving from place to place looking for work. The Real cowboys were nothing much like what we envision them today or how Hollywood has portrayed them, but that does not really matter, the Idea of the cowboy and his code has shaped America in many different ways. The Cowboy became a symbol of honesty, hardworking, moral men not afraid to stand up to evil. American excelptialism fit right into the cowboy idea, and the love of the cowboy and fascination with him has affected how America looked at herself, how others saw her and even today we see the cowboy all around us. The brutality of the civil war, followed by reconstruction was a time of disenchantment for many in America, the stories of the Wild West and cowboy quickly became popular. American was still learning to define herself, separating from the Victorian age and coping with corruption, America needed a hero. The lone man riding high, living a life of adventure, answering to only the call of the trail made a mighty fine picture. The Virginian, published in 1902 started the image of the cowboy and cemented him as the romantic cowboy we think of today. • 10. Dimmesdale Rapture INSERT WILDLY CLEVER TITLE HERE Many classic story arcs employ what, in ancient Greek dramas, are called instances of deus ex machina, or god from the machine. In these stories, an unforeseen factor arrives and offers an apparent solution to what would otherwise be an insoluble problem. Toward the end of Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter, the Puritan minister Dimmesdale seems to find such a resolution for the inner torment he has imposed on himself in atonement for his affair with Hester. While Dimmesdale s emotions escalate toward rapture at the suggestion of leaving his life of outward piety and private shame behind, he remains constrained by his past, both his moral foundation and the sin for which he is yet to take ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This ambiguity parallels the way he relishes the chance to start anew, but refuses to appreciate the woman who grants him this chance, the human light source. Dimmesdale identifies the sense of luminosity he feels as something his pleasure threw upon him. The verb to throw recalls the biblical verse of John 8:7 when Jesus instructs a group of men who are stoning a woman to death for adultery that whoever is without sin should be the first to cast a stone. The joy Dimmesdale feels in this scene delivers itself to him with a verb which the bible applies to punishment. Consideration of the justice which has not been administered disrupts the revelry that lands over the trouble of his breast. Because of the magnitude of his past sin, present joy hovers above his troubles, rather than eclipsing them. So long as Dimmesdale fails to take public responsibility for his actions, he will never feel pure joy. The trouble remains upon his breast, in the very place where his female accomplice was forced to bear the public consequence of their shared action alone. Still, the illusion of total joy intensifies. Without the impositions of any outside religious organization, Dimmesdale believes himself to be entirely free, though his devout, masochistic past continues to manifest itself. The second sentence is far longer than the first, illustrating Dimmesdale s growing comfort with the once alien joy of freedom. Dimmesdale enjoys the exhilarating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Evaluation a Course Book Part 1 Selecting a course book is an important task for any English language teacher or evaluator. Cunningsworth (1984) observes that few English language teachers do not depend on a course book. For this reason, the selection of materials probably represents the single most important decision that the language teacher has to make (Hutchinson, 1987, p. 37). It is very important that the teacher has the capacity to evaluate any course book in order to choose the most effective and suitable one (McDonough and Shaw, 1993; Littlejohn and Windeatt, 1988). According to Cunningsworth (1985, p. 14), the purpose of an evaluation is to investigate the strong and weak points in specific material. However, the teacher can adapt the weak points of ... Integrated skills are essential for achieving successful language learning in both lessons and activities (McDonough and Shaw, 2003). 3. Authenticity: The course book should provide an authentic language material for EFL learners by covering a range of input. It should also provide the students with opportunities to use that language in order to succeed in communicative purposes (Tomlinson, 2002, p. 21). As Graves (2000) recommends, Activities should help students develop specific language and skills they need for authentic communication (p. 153). 4. Attractiveness: The attractiveness of the book will facilitate the learning process by engaging the students and ensuring that they do not feel bored. The attractiveness of the book can come in the form of colours, pictures that inspire their imaginations and relate to real life, and a variety of interesting topics that involve games and songs. This will increase the students motivation to learn (Cunningsworth, 1995, p. 23). Such motivation should be appropriate for the learners ages, which in this case is between 11 and 13 years old. 5. • 12. Implicit Stereotyping And Evaluation Stereotyping occurs when individuals form cognitive conceptions of out group members, associating certain characteristics with that group (Smith and Mackie, 2007; Hamilton, 1981), whereas prejudice is a positive or negative evaluation directed towards an out group (Smith and Mackie, 2007). Current research depicts them as independent constructs, comprising different behavioural responses. An interrelation is indicated by considerable indirect evidence, specifically that prejudice is an inevitable consequence of stereotyping. Research demonstrates that cognitive processes trigger implicit stereotyping and affective processes trigger implicit evaluation; inferring independence. Amodio and Devine (2006) conducted several implicit association tests (IATs), concluding that stereotyping and evaluation were uncorrelated. However their finding of a double dissociation implies a link, the former being implicated in semantic learning and memory, and the latter in affective types. ... The study used double dissociation designs, where implicit evaluation and stereotyping were assessed separately to determine their effects on race biased behaviour, which implies high predictive validity, as does the use of the IAT in proving that instrumental forms of race bias are the product of implicit stereotyping, and consummatory forms the product of implicit evaluation. Contrarily, in the second study, participants recorded their feelings towards an African American student, followed by completing evaluative and stereotyping IATs; this raises the issue of causal inference due to demand characteristics, compromising ... Anglican Communion And Episcopal Communion Recently, the Anglican Communion and the Episcopal Church have been in a lengthy and complex disagreement regarding the role of the lesbian, gay, transgender, and bisexual members of the church body and to what lengths the church should go in order to accept all the different sexual orientations within its congregation. The Anglican Communion and the Episcopal Church have completely disagreed on the Communions core doctrine during this debate and have not come even close to creating a resolution. Disciplinary actions have been taken toward the Episcopal Church by the Anglican Communion in hopes for a withdrawal, but the Episcopalians have promised to stand firm on their very and beliefs for equality for all sexual orientations. Due to the recent conflicts between the Anglican Communion and the Episcopal Church, the Episcopal Church must disband from the Anglican Communion in the near future in order to maintain on the path of its calling of loving and supporting the lesbian, gay, transgender, and bisexual members. In January of 2016, The Anglican Communion suspended the Anglican Communion from its right to participate in the decision making process in the Communion because of its public support and acceptance of the lesbian, gay, transgender, and bisexual church members and their marriages within the church (King). The first error that might have occurred was that the water and vinegar might have been covering the entire penny and the penny might not have been exposed to enough air. If the penny was not exposed to enough air, then the penny could have reacted differently toward the experiment. The paper towels were dry towards the end of the experiment and more water and vinegar was not added to the cups. This could have affected the way the penny was affected. With more water and vinegar, the pennies may have gotten more green or may have has a stronger reaction. At the end of the experiment, the pennies were taken out of the cups and placed a new paper towel. The towel was then labeled with sharpies and left to sit there for a day. The different chemicals in the sharpies could have affected the way the penny reacted. Since the sharpie marker was so close to the pennies, they could have easily been affected. Polytheism is the belief of multiple gods. This allowed for a very diverse society in terms of belief and kept the conflicts between people of different beliefs to a minimum, although not entirely. In ancient Greece, many of the people followed one of the fourteen major gods, Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Apollo, Artemis, Aphrodite, Ares, Dionysus, Hephaestus, Athena, Hermes, Demeter, Hestia, and Hera. These fourteen gods were the cornerstones of Greek society, as each one had it s own group of devoted followers. Each group of followers had their own unique way of following their own god. The most prominent of these gods, was Zeus. Zeus was considered to be the King of Gods, as well as the god of the sky. In many of the Greek legends he is the father of some of their greatest heroes, such as Heracles and Helen of Troy. The followers of Zeus were split into many different cults, but almost all of the Greek people would gather to pay tribute to the King of Gods at Olympia, the place where the famous Olympic Games were held. An altar for Zeus resided there as well, but not one made of stone, but of ash, from all the animal sacrifices that had been held there. Then said Jove, Juno, be not so bitter. Their honour shall not be equal, but of all that dwell in Ilius, Hector was dearest to the gods, as also to myself, for his offerings never failed me. Never was my altar stinted of its dues, nor ... Is Mayella Ewell Powerful Or Powerful Analysis Is Mayella ewell powerful? That is the question that is asked and must be answered.Throughout the story To kill a mockingbird Mayella shows some glimpses of power but not enough to say she is powerful. For example in the beginning she shows that she can not even control her home life so how can she be powerful. Also she shows that she is just too poor for her to have power. Now in the next three paragraphs I will explain my thinking on why I believe Mayella is not powerful. In the first paragraph I will explain why and how I believe Mayella Ewell is not powerful, with the use of class.First off I would like to show you one of my biggest reasons for believing Mayella is not powerful Maycombs Ewells lived behind the town garbage dump in what used to be a negro cabin . (DBQ:Is mayella Ewell powerful?13)The second reason I believe Mayella Ewell is not powerful while using class for my examples is that longs as he keeps on callin me ma am and sayin miss Mayella.I don t hafta take his sass, I ain t called upon to take it (DBQ: Is Mayella Ewell powerful?.17). Now you can see even in her dialect she does not know or have class, you can also tell by the way she is not used to being called ma am and miss Mayella.Next I will show how much of a lower class the Ewells are in Mayella Ewell must have the loneliest person in the world...; white people wouldn t have anything to do with her because she lived among pigs (DBQ:Is mayella Ewell powerful 21).The final reason I believe Mayella ... Filter method: Filter method does not involve a learning algorithm for measuring feature subset [6]. It is fast and efficient for computation .filter method can fail to select the feature that are not beneficial by themselves but can be very beneficial when unite with others. Filter method evaluates the feature by giving ranks to their evaluation value. In filter method it evaluates the correlation between the features by using criteria such as, mutual information, maximum length, maximum relevance min redundancy (mRMR), PCA. Figure 1.2 Filter approach Wrapper method: wrapper method involve learning algorithm and search for optimal feature subset from original feature set which discover the relationship between relevance and optimal subset selection. It performed better than the filter method. The specific training classifier is used to evaluate the performance of selected features. Figure 1.3 Wrapper approach Embedded method: Embedded method is a combination of wrapper method and embedded method. This decreases the computational cost than wrapper approach and captures feature dependencies. It searches locally for features that allow better discrimination and also the relationship between the input feature and the targeted feature. Imagine a village, soldiers come in and take the children, age five and older, away in a wagon. The children arrive at a school far away from home, family, and culture. Separated according to age and sex, stripped of their clothes, bathed, and forced to stand still as they get their hair cut, many are crying, terrified of what is happening. They receive uniforms, and new Christian names, thus stripping them of their identities. Unfortunately, this is how most Indian children received an introduction to boarding school. • 27. Rhetorical Analysis Of Why Millennials Will Save Us All Millennials may be criticized, but they are a generation like no other. In the article Why Millennials Will Save Us All, Joel Stein asserts that millennials are a positive force of change. Stein s intent is to convince his target audience, older generations who perceive millennials as lazy, entitled, selfish and shallow (28), that they misunderstand millennials. He boldly claims that [millennials are] not a new species; they ve just mutated to adapt to their environment (31). Stein persuades his audience that millennials are most certainly a treasure trove of remarkable qualities. He accomplishes this by switching tones in the middle of the article, using humorous language, and establishing credibility through his mastery of logos. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the first half of the article, Stein inserts disapproving evidence about millennial traits, pointing out how 58% more college students scored higher on a narcissism scale in 2009 than in 1982 (28). Stein provides these statistics to convince his target audience of his credibility by giving them evidence that peaks the interest of their judgemental views. After his tone shift, Stein reveals all of his equally valid data on the positive aspects of millennials. The audience discovers in the second half of the article that nearly a quarter of DreamWorks 2,200 employees are under 30, and the studio has a 96% retention rate (32). This supports Stein s claim by using logos to show millennials work ethic, one of their many redeeming qualities. Since the audience has already accepted Stein s pessimistic evidence earlier in the article, they are willing to accept his positive evidence as well. In this way, Stein avoids assaulting his readers with evidence that supports his controversial claim by first easing his audience into his article with evidence they readily agree with. By the end of his article, Stein has integrated enough logos to convince his audience of the legitimacy of his claim while balancing out the informal sections of his ... Wisconsin s Collective Bargaining Needs to End Essay Lately in the news, there has been talk about budget and money crises; these problems have been in many states and most recently in Washington D.C and Wisconsin. Governor of Wisconsin Scott Walker has decided to address these budget predicaments by sharply curtailing the Wisconsin public sector workers collective bargaining rights. The reaction from people in Wisconsin has been mostly negative. However, Governor Walker was right in making cuts in the pay of public sector workers and taking away their right to collective bargaining to help pay off the budget. The state has a $137 million deficit, so curtailing collective bargaining rights will save the state $30 million in the current budget, which ends June first. Collective bargaining ... Everyone involved in these demonstrations were all protesting the same issue: the fact that the Governor of Wisconsin was going to take away their rights to collective bargaining; the irony of this is that these protesters weren t also just from Wisconson, they were being sent in droves from different states to support the union. The fear was that this could happen in their respective states. He says that he needs to take this right away because in the upcoming biannual budget he would be introducing there will be a $3.6 million deficit that will need to be bridged. He believes that it will be essential in order to allow the state to actually balance its budget without laying any workers off (video citation) The controversy behind this is that the people of Wisconsin believe that if the Governor takes away collective bargaining, he will take away the rights of the people, especially public sector workers, such as teachers and nurses. Governor Walker though is correct in taking this drastic measure because the state currently has a $137 million deficit. They need some way to bridge this deficit, so why not take out collective bargaining? Not all people agree with this way of thinking. Must have an earnest desire to save the world. Apply in person. Suspicious, Quinn investigates this advertisement with intentions of exposing fraud. Instead, he discovers Ishmael in Room 105 of a undistinguished office building. Sitting calmly, Ishmael gently nibbled on a slender branch. Appalled, Quinn stumbled towards the chair. Ishmael and Quinn gazed into each other s eyes, and much to his disgruntlement, the glowing eyes spoke to him. Nodding his head to the unspoken question, Ishmael quietly said, I am the teacher. Ishmael explains that Quinn is part of a culture, that results in him being taught certain stories between the relationships of man, the world, and the Gods. These explanations will be made clearer to the pupil by being assisted in recognizing why the stories are misleading. Ishmael s goal will show the narrator that human history comes from two groups, the Takers and the Leavers. These groups legislate two completely different stories about man, the world, and the Gods. Takers are the humans who developed agriculture and civilization, who still dominate on Earth today. The Leavers, in contradiction, are those who don t adopt agricultural practices and disregard the benefits of civilization.
