The School Of A Magnet Program And A Quest Program
The school houses 107 teachers, 1590 students within a magnet program and a quest program (gifted).
I feel that we have many internal leaders that play a key role in the successfulness of our school. The
external leaders would include parents, and different business within the community. Our school has
undergone many administrative and staff changes this year. I feel with that internal leaders have
stepped into the light for good influences and not so good rumor leaders. My school has always felt
like a family; wither you were faculty, student, or visitor, you always felt welcome. This year the
warm feel good feeling has dissipated a bit. The school has many veteran teachers that love their job.
In respects to the elementary teachers, they stay late and give their students 100% of them and it
shows. Children are smiling and eager to get to class. The walls are filled with student lead projects. I
can identify the internal leaders who are outspoken and who resolve issues. There is 5th grade teacher
who is team leader and she is amazing. If a problem arises instead of complaining she goes to her
team and creates a solution. In 5th grade the team is so influential due to the fact they work together so
well. They plan together and share ideas. When looking through data they delve deep to the root of the
problem and remediate students when needed. Educators must promote and build meaningful
relationships for all students and stakeholders in the community (Woody,

How Does Margaret Atwood Affect Society
Margaret Atwood, one of Canada s most respected authors, is inspired by science fiction. She found
this inspiration from her father because he was a scientist. [Additionally, he was who she looked up to
due to his successes in life.] She uses women as her speakers and often presents a dystopia in her
work, which shows women as stronger characters in societies with problems. Margaret Eleanor
Atwood was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on November 18, 1939. Atwood is the second child of
Margaret Dorothy and Carl Edmund Atwood. Most of Atwood s childhood memories were spent
outside of northern Quebec and traveling to many places due to her father´s job, an entomologist. In
1957 Atwood graduated from Leaside High School in Leaside, Toronto. She began writing at a very
young age, and her favorite poet was Edgar Allen Poe. Her mind was set to become a writer at the age
of 16. She started her career at Victoria College, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this diction would be and when you set out the poison/ I piss on it/ to warn the others,
from the poem Rat Song . In The animals in that country she believes that her own country is more
honest than other countries in the world. She uses animals to symbolize people everywhere, but in her
country animals are animals, and in other countries animals are people. Atwood continues the same
type of symbolism in Rat Song because she compares the speaker to a parasite. She uses animal
imagery in both Rat Song and The animals in that country to show the reader that there are creatures
that are not what they seem to be, and they do their damage and then disappear. The poem Rat Song is
a metaphor. It compares the rat to a woman who is warning others to stay away from this man when
she states, All I want is love, you stupid/ humanist . She further continues using metaphor in The

Message Appeals:
Berknan and Gilson Defined advertising appeals as an attempt at creativity that inspires consumers
motives for purchase and affects consumer s attitude towards a specific product or service. Message
appeals are used in Advertising Messages to draw the consumer s attention to his or her, own unmet
needs and desires. Appeals can be broadly classified as Rational and Emotional. Rational appeals

2. Cosmetic Surgery
Product Name: Safely Sensual
Cosmetic Surgery is a high involvement service. People are sceptic about using this product and the
common man feels like it is a service to be availed by actors, models and TV Stars. Contrary to that
opinion there are other people who would go in for a cosmetic surgery to look better and feel good
about themselves. This is a service availed by the Upper Middle, Lower Upper and Upper Upper class.
Sex Appeal: Sex appeal is used by the usage of sexual themes and sexually attractive models. Since
people often face mid life crisis, and are left feeling old and bereft of sexual desire, a sexually
attractive message would be ideal for a cosmetic surgery advertisement thus making the consumer feel
wanted, beautiful, young, loved and thus it helps the consumer feel like he or she is capable of making
love.
Subliminal appeal: Every middle aged person at some point in time feels like he or she is no longer
beautiful and the need for beauty may be suppressed if the person is surrounded by people who adore
him or her. If the message campaign focuses on the imperativeness of feeling beautiful for one s own
satisfaction may be the

Analysis Of Lean Production Delivery System
Executive summary The aim of this report is to carry out the in depth analysis of Lean production
delivery system. Firstly the history of LPDS is discussed followed by its principles, theory, processes
and tools. The differences and similarities between current project management systems and LPDS are
observed. Observations are also made on the strengths and weaknesses of both the systems. How both
the systems provide an end value to the customers is also explained. Introduction to Lean Production
Delivery System Initially the manufacturing companies around the world focused on the output and
carried out the production process where everyone worked on a single product and then moved to the
other product which was time consuming. The manufacturing companies could not meet the demands
as time taken to produce is high. Henry Ford of the Ford car manufacturing company introduced
assembly line system and mass produced cars as the demand for cars at that point of time was high.
This drastically reduced time to produce them. He hired people and trained them to specialize in a
single field. Thus different people worked on different fields according to their specializations which
improved the efficiency and speed of production. In the early 1900 s Toyota Production System (TPS)
of Japan tried to use the same method but was not successful as the market demands were different. It
then introduced Lean production system which focuses solely in providing greater value to the
customers and

Thanksgiving Narrative Essay
Every Thanksgiving I travel to Saint Louis Missouri to stay with my grandmother. Our first day off
school for Thanksgiving break, be begin packing for our trip. I had ordered a black Columbia jacket
that was supposed to arrive that Wednesday, so I hoped it would come before we left. My brother in
college comes to decatur and brings his dog Dino (pronounced deno) so we can travel together. That
day all we had to do was wait on my brother Anthony to come back from his Richland classes. It took
a couple more hours than we were expecting, and everyone got impatient. I felt slightly ticked but also
glad my jacket came before we left.
We cram our suitcases in my mother s minivan along with groceries to cook when we get there. Along
the way I realize that I forgot my purse at home in a rush to get going. I began thinking of blaming my
brother who took so long at school but I decided against it. Every available spot in the car is taken
leaving little room for anyone to breathe. We take off on the two hour drive to Missouri.
The very same day I am awakened as we are almost there. We all unload and head inside our
grandmother s house. It takes several trips to get all of our belongings in the house. It was about 8:30
when we get there and yet, preparations for Thanksgiving were already under way. My mother

Descriptive Essay On A Strip Club
As part of the child custody agreement with Shane, every other weekend I was required to drive an
hour south to exchange my youngest daughter with him. I once sat down and added up all the miles
and money that had gone into driving that route back and forth, and realized I could have driven
around the world and gotten a lovely vacation out it. But instead, it was just Bowling Green.
Several years into this bi monthly drive, a new establishment opened up right off the highway, Club54,
on the outskirts of Bowling Green. It was, amazingly enough, a strip club. Now over the years, I have
taken a liking to strip clubs, I ve been in many, all over the country, but was actually quite surprised
that this little tiny town, in the middle of nowhere now had one, and could not resist checking it out.
Dropping off my daughter, and after the brief, cold exchange that always went with it, Billy and I
jumped back into my car and headed for Bowling Green s newest attraction, eagerly excited to see
what it had to offer. Pulling up into the almost empty parking lot, we paused to look over the white,
windowless, nondescript, kinda shabby looking building, giving each other a questioning look about
our life choices. With a shrug, I giggled as we jumped out of the car, hollering, To the nekid ladies!
and Billy hooted his approval.
Walking in the door, it was a bit ragged at that end, a dimly lit pool table off to the side, old worn
down carpeting, and 70 s style decor. Beginning to wonder if

The Principal Agent System
The principal agent system also offers employers a chance to screen applicants that they believe might
present a moral hazard to the country by entering the social welfare system or becoming criminals.
Employers can also monitor immigrants after their settlement, and any immigrant s status can be
jeopardized by an inability to keep a job. The federal government s delegation of power allows
employers to threaten deportation at their own discretion. The INA (Immigration and Nationality Act)
was formed in 1952, and has since been amended multiple times over the ensuing decades, but
remains the most collected and representative body of American immigration law. In 1986 the IRCA
(the Immigration Reform and Control Act) and the IMFA (the Immigration Marriage Fraud
Amendments Act of 1986) were passed from legislation to law. These laws collectively served the
purpose of establishing amnesty for a certain number of illegal aliens, and restricting access to
employment without documentation of eligibility. This law also created a system of sanctions
requiring all employers to verify the identity and work authorization of any new job applicants. In
order to address the possibility of discrimination, employers in these situations were not permitted to
investigate further than the face of the provided documents. This law also imposed restrictions on
immigrants who applied for citizenship based on a marriage that was under two years old. Such
applicants were placed on temporary

Nathan Schwartz-Salant s The Borderline Personality-Vision...
Nathan Schwartz Salant wrote a book called, The Borderline Personality Vision and Healing, which
suggested spirituality may be the key to resolving borderline personality disorder. In his work, he
stated that some people with BPD might become deeply religious because of their lack of identity and
those who were religious might remember the prospective of healing to the relation of archetypal self.
For example, the Christian holy book, the Bible, in Hosea 2:1 13 states, ...clearly identify sinful
behaviors and describe the associated consequences of such behavior (Roberts 2013). This quote
shows that, in the Christian bible, they have a certain method on how to deal with BPD, which is to be
honest with people about the consequences of their

Life sucks. It doesn t who you are; rich, poor, tall, short, thin, fat, muscular, etc., life will always find a

there are two types of people in this world that reacts to this, one is to give up and let life go out of
control and let it ruin you, or someone can take the hit and keep moving forward. I just so happened to

Important Developments in the Humanities During the Early,High and Late Middle Ages
The study of humanities allows us to explore the ways in which the changing concepts of nature and
the individual differ in each historical period and helps us to characterize the important developments
of each period. Examining specific works of the Middle Ages enables us to describe our views of the
changes that occur and helps to explain how and why the concepts evolved the way they did. The
Middle Ages provided a unique chapter in the history of the humanistic tradition.

In the legal and social realm, the Magna Carta was one of the first documents in history to guarantee
rights and freedoms for the common people. The document which is the foundation of our liberties ,
the Magna Carta was truly a remarkable new idea in the beginning of the rise out of the feudal system.
For the first time, subjects of the King were demanding certain rights, which were never even thought
of as rights before this document was drafted in 1215 C.E. Lastly, technology itself was setting the
stage for the dawning of the age of exploration. All of these developments as well as others would set
the stage for man s great awakening out of the Middle Ages and his renaissance soon to come.
Gothic architecture dominated the architectural style of Western Europe for over 400 years. The
Gothic style was not only used in Churches but it also was seen in whole towns. Gothic architects
designed courthouses, hospitals, town halls and royal palaces. It was in its churches where we see the
amazing glorification of God and the intentional subordination of man with the advent of this style.
The transcendental character of medieval religious architecture was given a special form in the Gothic
church. Medieval man considered himself but an imperfect ‘refraction of the Divine Light of God,
Whose temple on earth, according to the text of the dedication ritual, stood for the Heavenly City of

Microsoft s System Preparation Utility
You may come across a situation where you have a computer that does not support a PXE boot. For
these cases you can boot the computer from disk using a discover image. A discover image is an image
file that you can burn to a CD ROM or other boot medium(s). When you boot the client computer
using the discover image disk, the computer loads Windows PE, connects to a specified WDS server,
and proceeds with the operating system installation process. Before capturing a computer with WDS,
you must prepare a master or reference computer with the Sysprep.exe utility and reboot the computer
using the capture image. Microsoft s System Preparation Utility (Sysprep.exe) prepares a Windows
computer for cloning by removing specific computer information such as the computer name and
Security Identifier (SID). On Windows Server 2012, the Sysprep.exe is located in the following folder:
We studied in the above topic about the minimum requirements to boot the WDS server and deploy an

Liam O Flaherty The Sniper Conflict
The Sniper is a short story written by Liam O Flaherty, in early 1923. It takes place during the Irish
Civil war, and is meticulously written about two snipers. Although the story was written almost one
hundred years ago, it still manages to relate and reach out to many people to this day, including me.
The main conflict in the story is the two snipers, and how each try to outsmart and kill the other. What
the snipers don t know is that they are brothers, born from the same mother and father. This creates a
very interesting plot twist near the end, and makes it have a very compelling yet sad ending...

The Rising of a New Nurse leader

The making of a nurse leader takes education, training, and experience. Whatever the personality trait
of a professional nurse, this self discovery will only be a means to aim in becoming a nurse leader. A
professional nurse in leadership is one that is transformational, involved in a professional
organization, a change agent, and has a high Emotional Intelligence to be able to manage a team. She

Managed time leads to greater productivity and manageable stress. Moreover, a nurse leader should be
an expert in what she does and a certification is an excellent objective measure of that knowledge
worth acquiring by someone in nursing leadership role. She should also be aware of the political
process in nursing in order to develop into a nurse leader who sets professional goals and influence
others to do likewise. Knowledge of the nursing political process can elevate the nursing profession
through proactive engagement in the legislative process making positive changes in the healthcare
industry possible. Membership on local or national organizations is a platform for nurses to be in
tuned of the current ethical, legal, social issues related to health care. Involvement in the decision
policy making process is not necessarily mean running for political offices, although possible, but a
mere campaign support for someone whose objective is to benefit the nursing industry at large is
undeniably advantageous for the nursing profession (Trosmman 2004).
A Transformational Leader Professional nurses must deliver leadership with communication and
collaborative skills, ethical and legal principles, integrity, and commitment to provide excellent quality
patient care. True leadership is beyond the position of being a manager (Grossman Valiga 2012). In
transformational leadership, a nurse individualizes

The Supernatural Element Of William Shakespeare s Macbeth
What is interesting is what each supernatural element represents in Shakespeare s society and in our
current society. The supernatural elements in Macbeth include fate, the witches, mythological beings,
ghosts, and apparitions. I believe that the witches in Shakespeare s time, in the play and in real life,
represent the power of choice. The power to be able to decide to commit murder or any other heinous
act or decide to let things naturally happen shows the classic choice between good and evil, but the
witches themselves are not evil. While they are viewed as treasonous in this time, that is simply
because they were believed to be associated with the devil and a threat to the king. In reality, Macbeth
is the evil one because of his actions. I would even argue that Macbeth was the one who sealed his
unfortunate fate once the king was murdered. Because of the downward spiral Macbeth, and even
Lady Macbeth, faces after the murders, his eventual insanity proves that the act he committed was in
fact evil because of the repercussions he faced. The repercussions themselves could be viewed as evil
because the supernatural evil could prove to be a better sanctioning mechanism than a punishing god
(Martinez, 334). I think this is comparable to our society today because of how the belief in fate itself
constitutes the belief of karma, either good or bad, in that a person gets what he or she deserves.
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, I think, got what they deserved in the end. Moreover,

Online Education Vs Online Schooling
Online schooling has become more popular than in the past. Schools are even incorporating hybrid
classes that offer in class and online features. Some students think online school is easier than the
alternative, while others participate in online schooling for the convenience. The main three topics that
are talked about when comparing the two are the social aspects or participation, curriculum, and time
management. Online courses allow students to learn at their own pace and complete assignments and
tests just like they would in a traditional school. Both schooling options require participation, have a
curriculum, and require time management. While both school setups have the same general principles,
the way they are ____ can be different. Both online and classroom based schooling have social
interaction. Both options can contain group work, discussions, and some sort of social interaction
between instructor and students. However, in a traditional school setting; students participate in class
discussions, ask questions, participate in group work, ect. The drawback to this is the fact that students
are not necessarily forced to participate in class. Some students are too shy or just unwilling to
contribute. They may not ask questions or participate in group work. Because of this, class might seem
unbalanced and some students may feel like they carry the load of a group assignment more than
others. On the contrary, online schooling doesn t have face face contact. If a

The Good and Bad of Racial Profiling
It has been said that racial profiling has been used more than once as a way to detain suspects that
arouse suspcion according to NAACP. Racial profiling is the suspicion of people based on race,
ethnicity, nationality, religion, or other immutable charateristics rather than evidence based behavior.
Eventhough statistics say otherwise racial profiling should not be used as a reasnoable right to detain
an individual because it is unlawful, discrinmatory, and ineffective.
Even though statistics say otherwise racial profiling is actually a good way to determine if a person is
a suspect or not. Because of hard statistical evedence that shows young black and hispanic men
commiting disproportionate numbers of crime. The crimes mostly ... Show more content on

Many racial profiled victims walk away with minor traffic tickets, too often are unlucky and their
outcome is death. Some law enforcers seem to have the stereotypical idea that all african americans
are ignorant and poor. In relations to that if seen differently then that will arouse suspcion to the law
enforcer because it is so called unheard to see a blcak man with a nice car. Theres even an actual story
where that has happened On Oct 12, 1995, Johnny Grammage , a 31 yr old african american male was
shot and killed after being pulled over while driving the jaguar of his cousins . That is just despicable
an officer is only allowed to use a weapon if his life was in danger or if he had weapon but in this case
neither was true. Racial profiling does not only affect race but it also affects religion. In most recent
research In South Dakota there is a widespread reports of racial profiling led to hearings before the
state legislature, where indians testified about being stopped and searched not only based on race but
religion the constitution does foucs on that too whereas where we a free right to practice and not be
judged. A suspect should not be searched or even stopped because of their race, religion, ethnicity,
nationality, and orgin. They should be detained because of a logical and ethical reason if not then their
only making them another victim of racial profiling. Bringing back up this term again

Peer Communication Theory
In Hawthorne Avenue in Newark, there was a mass exodus of numerous residents who families rushed
out of their houses covering their faces with wet cloth masks makeshift from handkerchieves to escape
from what they assumed was a gas attack. People all across the United States and Canada started
calling the police and emergency services to seek advice and request protection against what seemed
to them impending destruction and imminent death. In 1948, Paul F. Lazarsfeld wrote The People s
Choice in which he asserted the public perspective was more likely to be influenced by their
contemporaries than just agencies of mass media. This theory of peer communication was the two step
flow theory. It propounds the view that opinion leaders meticulously follow mass media, interpret the
messages it conveys and then transmits their interpretations of these to their peers. This theory
therefore implies overt and active participation of the audience in the communication process. The
way people change their habits of dress, conversation, manners, behavior, inculcation of new
professional styles and personal practices can all be attributed to peer communication. Maxwell
McCombs and Donald Shaw developed the Agenda Setting Function Theory was developed after an
extensive study of the procedure of campaigning for presidential elections in North Carolina. They
highlighted the role of the media in influencing people to focus on certain issues and the print media

Although there may have been foreign and partially independent directors, they were all subordinate

It is required to give less impact and weight to Mixon factors relating to form and more to substance,
based on the fact that the transactions were not made at arm s length.
Non exclusive Mixon factors that contributed to the decision:
1. Name given to certificates: Labels on documents conclude that the advances say they are debt, but
labels alone cannot change equity to debt. This factor favors the advances treated as debt, but there is
less weight to this factor because it is based on form rather than substance.
2. Presence or absence of a fixed maturity date: Although fixed maturity dates existed, postponing
maturity suggests a lack of intent to require repayment. This factor supports the treatment of the
advances as equity because the directors did not intend to request repayment and continually extended
the maturity dates, never enforcing them.
3. Source of payments: The petitioners claim liquidity and the ability to pay interest or principal on
amount owed, but conclusive findings show the insufficiency to pay interest or principal balance. This
factor supports the treatment of the advances as equity.
4. Right to enforce payment of principal and interest: While they had the right to enforce, they did not

Auguste Bartholdi
Although the creation of the Statue of Liberty was a group effort, the Creative Hero behind the
massive project was Auguste Bartholdi.
Bartholdi was born in Colmar, France on August 2, 1834. Through his childhood and early adulthood
Bartholdi extensively studied art, sculpture, and architecture in Colmar and later Paris. Eventually, he
landed on sculpture as his passion.
Some of Bartholdi s early sculpture work is in Colmar and was cast in bronze. Like most creators,
Auguste Bartholdi got his inspiration for the Statue of Liberty from his experiences on a trip to Yemen
and Egypt with other artists. This trip sparked his interest in colossal sculpture after visiting the
Pyramids and the Sphinx. [pic of pyramids and sphinx] In 1871, he traveled to the United States and

What can we learn from Bartholdi?
*Bartholdi spent his life creating sculpture to improve the world and to make a statement about the
things that he valued.
*He drew his inspiration from classic design to make a landmark that inspires four million visitors
each year.
*The enduring value and meaning of the Statue of liberty is just as relevant today as it was when it

The Bengal region had a complex political organisation structure that completely changed the region
in the mid to late eighteenth century. This essay will examine the Bengali culture in broad sense and
then go on to discuss the political organisation of the Bengal region and study how governing of the
state occurred between the assigned time period of 1750 1800. The essay will also compare the
political organisation of the Qing Dynasty, the Chakri Dynasty, the Neo Sumerian Empire, the Inca
Empire and imperial China to that of the Mughal Empire that ruled the Bengal region. To conclude,
the essay will explain how political organisation influenced Bengali trade and exchange
internationally and within the Bengal region.
The Bengal region is located in the north east area of South Asia and in the eighteenth century the
majority of the people that lived there were Bengali who spoke Bangla. Bengal is a diverse region as it
arose from the convergence of numerous societies that came to the region over many centuries. The
population of Bengal was combination of Hindus and Buddhists until the 13th century when Muslims
invaded from the northwest therefore Muslims predominantly occupied the eastern part of Bengal and
Hindus the west. Most Bengali s lived in a rural setting and the fertile Bengal Delta meant that

The Economic And Economic Impact Of The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution, occurring primarily from the 1865 the 1900s, is informally defined as the
expeditious development of industry . This was primarily sparked by the development of electricity
and it s ability to power machines that would increase the production rate of products. The Industrial
Revolution aided in, well, you guessed it... industrial and economic development through the
establishment of machinery driven by electricity, the establishment of varying marketing strategies,
and utilization of workers. This period eventually led to a more stable economy, however, not without
3 separate periods of economic depression and the division of people by wealth. Politically, big
businesses obtained greater power, through varying marketing strategies, and the minimal intervention
of government to enforce or propose regulations. Industrialists had leverage, as people of the working
class were willing to work for any amount of money. However, labor unions were formed to combat
increasing hours and decreasing wages along with strikes. Post Civil War, the rise of industry induced
a power shift from aristocrats to industrialists promoting capitalism. In regards to the economy the
increased output of products resulted in a greater standard of living as demonstrated by the increase of
GDP from 1865 1900 by dollars. Furthermore, because of this unequal division of wealth, a caste
system was induced with the lower class being treated poorly, and labor unions formed

All Members of the Family Matters
Family, a close weaved group of people inseparable because of links of shared history, love, caring,
and understanding which links them to one another and ignites a since of belonging and togetherness.
Members of a family are like the patches of a patchwork quilt. Like the patches of the quilt, family
members are of different sizes, shapes, and colors but although different they all play a part in creating
a masterpiece which bond is only as strong as the weakest link. It s these differences in sizes, shapes,
and colors which makes patchwork quilt so unique and amazing to the public today. Family works the
same way you have different types of people with completely different mindsets, hobbies, and careers
but family is special. Family has a linkage between them, a certain bond that may not be visible by eye
but the bond is so strong that no matter what happens or how far apart they are, they will always be
linked back to the other members of the family. But what happens when you put another angle to the
common institution of family? What happens when that person in your family who shares this linkage
is a pet? Does this change the definition of family just because the subject at hand is something other
than human?
My substantive definition of family helps me too be able to accept pets as members of the family.
Under the definition of law, family is the formal social recognition and affirmation of a bond as
family, particularly in the form of marriage and adoption. Pets are

Balanced Scorecard Case Study
The Impact of using Balanced Scorecard on Strategic Performance of Small and Medium Enterprises
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE This research paper describes an overview of the theoretical
background of the Balanced Scorecard as well as describing the historical foundation and the
development of its theories. A company s success will have a correlation with its strategy. However, if
an organization cannot implement and cascade its strategy throughout the company, they may
experience a low rate of success and may fail eventually. The strategy of a company is often aligned to
the mission, vision and core values of an organization along with a well thought out plan that will give
a company an advantage compared to its competitors. Kaplan and ... Show more content on

Kaplan and David P. Norton stated that the balanced scorecard is defined as the translation of an
organization s mission and strategy into a comprehensive set of performance measures that provides
the framework for a strategic measurement and management system. (Kaplan, R.S. and Norton, D.P.
1996) In the beginning of the introduction of the balance scorecard, the Activity Based Costing or the
ABC Approach was introduced by Johnson and Kaplan. Because of this, the organizations were able
to move organizations away from the financially biased measurement to a more balanced approach
that are related to the four perspectives of an organization s success which are the financial, customer,
internal processes and learning and growth. To make the balance scorecard accurate, the
organizational management team in lines the mission, vision, and strategy of the company into the
scorecard. This depicts the long term and short term success of the strategy. The outcome measures of
the balanced scorecard must represent the excellent prior performance and the performance drivers
that lead to the successful and accurate performance. (Kaplan, R. S. and Norton, D. P.

Mammals Should Be Kept In Captivity

Compare And Contrast The Odyssey And The Hobbit
Compare and Contrast As I read through Homer s The Odyssey, and J.R.R Tolkien s The Hobbit, I
immediately noticed several similarities between the two. Of course not only were their things that
they both shared in common, but also things that set them apart from each other. I mean what kind of
authors would they be if they wrote the same exact story. I hope that by reading this essay you gain a
better understanding of both books as well as what they have in common and what is different
between them. By the end you should be able to identify the similarities and differences between both
of their journeys as well as between most of the characters in this book. I d first like to establish the
theme between both of these amazing stories. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Hobbit the battle comes at the end of the book and in the Odyssey it is the battle of Troy that
occurs in the beginning of the story that starts our adventure. I think the major theme is that through
perseverance and hard work you can achieve great strides in completing your goal, and that it is only
by relying on others as well as yourself that those goal(s) can be achieved. During these events we can
understand some major plot similarities. Some shared plot points that I discovered while reading. For
instance both adventures are started by another source. In the Odyssey Goddess Athena descends from
the heavens after convincing her father, the Son of Cronus, Zeus to allow Odysseus to return home.
Once she arrives in Ithaca, she sets Telemachus on his adventure to learn more information about his
father whereabouts. This is like Gandalf the Gray arriving in the Shire to set Bilbo on his mission with
Thorin to reclaim the mountain from Smaug. Another major part would be the obstacles that stand in
their way. Mostly in the form of Monsters and other beings. The Odyssey features some creatures
famous in greek mythology such as the Cyclops, Polyphemus, the beasts Scylla and Charybdis, the
Sirens, and the God Helios and Goddesses Circe and Calypso. The Hobbit features classic fantasy
monsters like Giant Spiders, Goblins, Worgs, an Elvish King, and of course a fire breathing Smaug.
Both characters gain gifts that

  • 2. The School Of A Magnet Program And A Quest Program The school houses 107 teachers, 1590 students within a magnet program and a quest program (gifted). I feel that we have many internal leaders that play a key role in the successfulness of our school. The external leaders would include parents, and different business within the community. Our school has undergone many administrative and staff changes this year. I feel with that internal leaders have stepped into the light for good influences and not so good rumor leaders. My school has always felt like a family; wither you were faculty, student, or visitor, you always felt welcome. This year the warm feel good feeling has dissipated a bit. The school has many veteran teachers that love their job. In respects to the elementary teachers, they stay late and give their students 100% of them and it shows. Children are smiling and eager to get to class. The walls are filled with student lead projects. I can identify the internal leaders who are outspoken and who resolve issues. There is 5th grade teacher who is team leader and she is amazing. If a problem arises instead of complaining she goes to her team and creates a solution. In 5th grade the team is so influential due to the fact they work together so well. They plan together and share ideas. When looking through data they delve deep to the root of the problem and remediate students when needed. Educators must promote and build meaningful relationships for all students and stakeholders in the community (Woody, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. How Does Margaret Atwood Affect Society Margaret Atwood, one of Canada s most respected authors, is inspired by science fiction. She found this inspiration from her father because he was a scientist. [Additionally, he was who she looked up to due to his successes in life.] She uses women as her speakers and often presents a dystopia in her work, which shows women as stronger characters in societies with problems. Margaret Eleanor Atwood was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on November 18, 1939. Atwood is the second child of Margaret Dorothy and Carl Edmund Atwood. Most of Atwood s childhood memories were spent outside of northern Quebec and traveling to many places due to her father´s job, an entomologist. In 1957 Atwood graduated from Leaside High School in Leaside, Toronto. She began writing at a very young age, and her favorite poet was Edgar Allen Poe. Her mind was set to become a writer at the age of 16. She started her career at Victoria College, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of this diction would be and when you set out the poison/ I piss on it/ to warn the others, from the poem Rat Song . In The animals in that country she believes that her own country is more honest than other countries in the world. She uses animals to symbolize people everywhere, but in her country animals are animals, and in other countries animals are people. Atwood continues the same type of symbolism in Rat Song because she compares the speaker to a parasite. She uses animal imagery in both Rat Song and The animals in that country to show the reader that there are creatures that are not what they seem to be, and they do their damage and then disappear. The poem Rat Song is a metaphor. It compares the rat to a woman who is warning others to stay away from this man when she states, All I want is love, you stupid/ humanist . Cosmetic Surgery Product Name: Safely Sensual Cosmetic Surgery is a high involvement service. People are sceptic about using this product and the common man feels like it is a service to be availed by actors, models and TV Stars. Contrary to that opinion there are other people who would go in for a cosmetic surgery to look better and feel good about themselves. This is a service availed by the Upper Middle, Lower Upper and Upper Upper class. Sex Appeal: Sex appeal is used by the usage of sexual themes and sexually attractive models. Since people often face mid life crisis, and are left feeling old and bereft of sexual desire, a sexually attractive message would be ideal for a cosmetic surgery advertisement thus making the consumer feel wanted, beautiful, young, loved and thus it helps the consumer feel like he or she is capable of making love. • 5. Analysis Of Lean Production Delivery System Executive summary The aim of this report is to carry out the in depth analysis of Lean production delivery system. Firstly the history of LPDS is discussed followed by its principles, theory, processes and tools. The differences and similarities between current project management systems and LPDS are observed. Observations are also made on the strengths and weaknesses of both the systems. How both the systems provide an end value to the customers is also explained. Introduction to Lean Production Delivery System Initially the manufacturing companies around the world focused on the output and carried out the production process where everyone worked on a single product and then moved to the other product which was time consuming. The manufacturing companies could not meet the demands as time taken to produce is high. Henry Ford of the Ford car manufacturing company introduced assembly line system and mass produced cars as the demand for cars at that point of time was high. This drastically reduced time to produce them. He hired people and trained them to specialize in a single field. Thus different people worked on different fields according to their specializations which improved the efficiency and speed of production. In the early 1900 s Toyota Production System (TPS) of Japan tried to use the same method but was not successful as the market demands were different. It then introduced Lean production system which focuses solely in providing greater value to the customers and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I had ordered a black Columbia jacket that was supposed to arrive that Wednesday, so I hoped it would come before we left. My brother in college comes to decatur and brings his dog Dino (pronounced deno) so we can travel together. That day all we had to do was wait on my brother Anthony to come back from his Richland classes. It took a couple more hours than we were expecting, and everyone got impatient. I felt slightly ticked but also glad my jacket came before we left. We cram our suitcases in my mother s minivan along with groceries to cook when we get there. Along the way I realize that I forgot my purse at home in a rush to get going. I began thinking of blaming my brother who took so long at school but I decided against it. Every available spot in the car is taken leaving little room for anyone to breathe. We take off on the two hour drive to Missouri. The very same day I am awakened as we are almost there. We all unload and head inside our grandmother s house. It takes several trips to get all of our belongings in the house. It was about 8:30 when we get there and yet, preparations for Thanksgiving were already under way. My mother immediately begins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 7. Descriptive Essay On A Strip Club As part of the child custody agreement with Shane, every other weekend I was required to drive an hour south to exchange my youngest daughter with him. I once sat down and added up all the miles and money that had gone into driving that route back and forth, and realized I could have driven around the world and gotten a lovely vacation out it. But instead, it was just Bowling Green. Several years into this bi monthly drive, a new establishment opened up right off the highway, Club54, on the outskirts of Bowling Green. It was, amazingly enough, a strip club. Now over the years, I have taken a liking to strip clubs, I ve been in many, all over the country, but was actually quite surprised that this little tiny town, in the middle of nowhere now had one, and could not resist checking it out. Dropping off my daughter, and after the brief, cold exchange that always went with it, Billy and I jumped back into my car and headed for Bowling Green s newest attraction, eagerly excited to see what it had to offer. Pulling up into the almost empty parking lot, we paused to look over the white, windowless, nondescript, kinda shabby looking building, giving each other a questioning look about our life choices. With a shrug, I giggled as we jumped out of the car, hollering, To the nekid ladies! and Billy hooted his approval. Walking in the door, it was a bit ragged at that end, a dimly lit pool table off to the side, old worn down carpeting, and 70 s style decor. Beginning to wonder if ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Principal Agent System The principal agent system also offers employers a chance to screen applicants that they believe might present a moral hazard to the country by entering the social welfare system or becoming criminals. Employers can also monitor immigrants after their settlement, and any immigrant s status can be jeopardized by an inability to keep a job. The federal government s delegation of power allows employers to threaten deportation at their own discretion. The INA (Immigration and Nationality Act) was formed in 1952, and has since been amended multiple times over the ensuing decades, but remains the most collected and representative body of American immigration law. In 1986 the IRCA (the Immigration Reform and Control Act) and the IMFA (the Immigration Marriage Fraud Amendments Act of 1986) were passed from legislation to law. These laws collectively served the purpose of establishing amnesty for a certain number of illegal aliens, and restricting access to employment without documentation of eligibility. This law also created a system of sanctions requiring all employers to verify the identity and work authorization of any new job applicants. In order to address the possibility of discrimination, employers in these situations were not permitted to investigate further than the face of the provided documents. This law also imposed restrictions on immigrants who applied for citizenship based on a marriage that was under two years old. Such applicants were placed on temporary ... Nathan Schwartz Salant wrote a book called, The Borderline Personality Vision and Healing, which suggested spirituality may be the key to resolving borderline personality disorder. In his work, he stated that some people with BPD might become deeply religious because of their lack of identity and those who were religious might remember the prospective of healing to the relation of archetypal self. For example, the Christian holy book, the Bible, in Hosea 2:1 13 states, ...clearly identify sinful behaviors and describe the associated consequences of such behavior (Roberts 2013). The document which is the foundation of our liberties , the Magna Carta was truly a remarkable new idea in the beginning of the rise out of the feudal system. For the first time, subjects of the King were demanding certain rights, which were never even thought of as rights before this document was drafted in 1215 C.E. Lastly, technology itself was setting the stage for the dawning of the age of exploration. All of these developments as well as others would set the stage for man s great awakening out of the Middle Ages and his renaissance soon to come. Gothic architecture dominated the architectural style of Western Europe for over 400 years. The Gothic style was not only used in Churches but it also was seen in whole towns. Gothic architects designed courthouses, hospitals, town halls and royal palaces. It was in its churches where we see the amazing glorification of God and the intentional subordination of man with the advent of this style. The transcendental character of medieval religious architecture was given a special form in the Gothic church. The supernatural elements in Macbeth include fate, the witches, mythological beings, ghosts, and apparitions. I believe that the witches in Shakespeare s time, in the play and in real life, represent the power of choice. The power to be able to decide to commit murder or any other heinous act or decide to let things naturally happen shows the classic choice between good and evil, but the witches themselves are not evil. While they are viewed as treasonous in this time, that is simply because they were believed to be associated with the devil and a threat to the king. In reality, Macbeth is the evil one because of his actions. I would even argue that Macbeth was the one who sealed his unfortunate fate once the king was murdered. Because of the downward spiral Macbeth, and even Lady Macbeth, faces after the murders, his eventual insanity proves that the act he committed was in fact evil because of the repercussions he faced. The repercussions themselves could be viewed as evil because the supernatural evil could prove to be a better sanctioning mechanism than a punishing god (Martinez, 334). I think this is comparable to our society today because of how the belief in fate itself constitutes the belief of karma, either good or bad, in that a person gets what he or she deserves. People all across the United States and Canada started calling the police and emergency services to seek advice and request protection against what seemed to them impending destruction and imminent death. In 1948, Paul F. Lazarsfeld wrote The People s Choice in which he asserted the public perspective was more likely to be influenced by their contemporaries than just agencies of mass media. This theory of peer communication was the two step flow theory. It propounds the view that opinion leaders meticulously follow mass media, interpret the messages it conveys and then transmits their interpretations of these to their peers. This theory therefore implies overt and active participation of the audience in the communication process. The way people change their habits of dress, conversation, manners, behavior, inculcation of new professional styles and personal practices can all be attributed to peer communication. The Industrial Revolution aided in, well, you guessed it... industrial and economic development through the establishment of machinery driven by electricity, the establishment of varying marketing strategies, and utilization of workers.
