Anderson s Auteur Theory
The first premise of auteur theory, which acts as a criterion of value to identify directorial talent, is
technical competence in all aspects of mise en scène (Sarris, 1962, pp 562). Although Sarris does not
specify what constitutes good filmmaking, technical competence implies a director s efficiency to
manage the production stages (Morley Silver, 1977) with an ...elementary flair of the medium and a
technical mastery... of ...sets, costumes, cinematography, editing, music and so forth (Chaudhuri,
2013, pp 23). By expertly manipulating these technical aspects, Anderson creates a balanced, stylised
reality in many of his films known as formalistic classicism. Moonrise Kingdom (Moonrise) is a
prime example of Anderson s impeccable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In keeping with auteur theory, Anderson s oeuvre s stylistic choices and thematic elements are a self
reflection of personal experiences such as his childhood. Familial dysfunction, in particular, has a
prominent thematic consistency across Anderson s work due to the director experiencing ...the single
most traumatic event in his childhood...the divorce of his parents (Dilley, 2017, pp 17). This is
strongly evident in Moonrise, which sees such childhood experiences transcribed directly into the
characters, narrative and mise en scène. In Moonrise the protagonists Khaki Scout Sam Shakusky and
love interest Suzy Bishop are children from dysfunctional families just like Anderson. Audiences
blatantly see this theme included within the narrative when Sam s foster parents reject ownership of
him over the phone, and also (as well as in the mise en scène) when an upset Suzy is in a bathtub
reading a book titled Coping with the Very Troubled Child (as she says I hate you to her unfaithful
mother). This prop, Suzy s book, is a direct reference to when an eight year old Anderson stumbled
upon a pamphlet at home titled Coping with the Very Troubled Child (Mottram, 2012). Anderson
portrays his past feeling of upset through Suzy s character and the bathroom s gloomy colour palette
which is a grungy yellowy green. Despite the negative connotations associated

Slide 1
Good Morning! Today I m going to focus on Intuition, and as you may already have guessed, the
Brexit. *
Slide 2 RLS
Before diving straight into things, here is a very brief recap of the Brexit, thus far. * On Thursday 23rd
June 2016, the Referendum on the United Kingdom s membership of the European Union, otherwise
known as the Brexit vote, was staged for a third time with historic consequences. Where the majority
of the votes from the participating population supported the bid to leave the European Union, 48.1 to
51.9%. The result leaving the British economy in pieces, major politicians forced to resign, including
those that supported the bit to Leave , along with the then Prime Minister David Cameron and the ...

In this case, Intuition was key in these campaigns so that people would side with their arguments. The
knowledge question also has subsidiary links to History and Reason which will be investigated later
on.*
Slide 4 KC Personal Ex.
Development 1 of the knowledge question will focus on my personal perspective and examples that
were gathered, particularly focusing on Ethics. My personal knowledge claim in response to the
knowledge question * is that I believe that the value of ethical arguments is more significant in
comparison to other claims that are mainly based on intuition, in the context of supported knowledge
without significant evidence, which was a main concept that was outlined when analysing the Brexit
vote. *
A personal example of where is may be evident is in my IB Psychology Subject, A psychology
experiment was carried out where 2 (scripted) presenters gave 2 separate arguments on a particular
topic to 2 groups of participants. The first presenter focused on the numerous perspectives and
repercussions that the topic would create and touch on and what the situation would do to those
different people (Much like a TOK presentation), as well as touching on the ethics of the topic. The
second speaker focused on their personal perspective and their thoughts, ignoring any other
perspectives and only presuming outcomes, they also ignored any and all ethical viewpoints.
The first group of participants were told by the researchers that the

Greek Religion And Public Life In Ancient Greece
The Greek people had many things they were proud of for evolving as their era began to pick up
steam. The things they were well known for were their religious beliefs and their philosophies.
Though both were pivotal for the Greek people, these two areas were very different.
Greek Religion To the Greeks, religion, was a major part of their private and public life every day.
Greek religion was big on public rituals, community festivals, showed great community pride, and
was big on their heritage. Their religion was more public than private. Their religion was divided up
into two categories. The Olympian deities whom they felt dwelled in the skies or mountaintops.
Olympian religion felt that the deities intercede in daily activities, and that

McDonalds follow a world wide standard and have specific franchise requirements in respect of
machinery and equipment used in the production process of meal preparation. The aspect that makes
McDonalds unique is the speed of preparation and services, and machinery and equipment are updated
regularly to keep up with international standards.
The introduction of computer systems to McDonalds is the key to the success in providing
convenience to their customers. Updated computer systems and programmes help to assist with stock
take, point of sale, orders, etc. The concept of Drive Thru would not be so successful were it not for
the usage of computers. McDonalds Old Fort Road holds the record for most cars in one hour (Drive

Internet is another means to attract customers and McDonalds regularly updates its web site with their
menu, prices and current promotional offers.
Technology as a whole has impacted on the way McDonalds operates, in just about every aspect, from
Drive Thru s to innovative packaging.

The Construction Of The War On Terrorism
Nearly any act of violence that is seen as against society is characterized as terrorism. In the context of
international relations, terrorism is one of the most challenged definitions. The term terrorism is
politically and emotionally charged, which has made it difficult for the international community to
develop a universally agreed upon definition. In a general sense, terrorism can be expressed as the use
or threatened use of force against civilians to provoke political or social change. Shared elements of
terrorism also include that it is political in nature or intent, its perpetrators are non state actors, and its
targets are noncombatants.
In What Is Terrorism?, terrorism expert, Bruce Hoffman notes that the acts of terrorism ... Show more

The last portion of this essay will conclude by reviewing the challenges to the war on terror and
explaining why terrorism is ineffective.
Political injustice is a major cause of terrorism. When the government acts unjustly, the citizens feel as
though they cannot change things through parliament. Social injustice also leads to terrorism as a
result of economic differences between the Western World and undeveloped countries or within a
state. In addition, elites or cult leaders a cause of terrorism. They believe they are in a position of
authority and want to help people by making a change that fits their point of view for the greater good.
Terrorism is aimed to call attention to a particular cause, while simultaneously questioning the
legitimacy of a target government by highlighting its inability to protect its citizens. Terrorism aims to
gain supporters and coerce opponents. People begin participating in terrorism when they feel that they
cannot accomplish their goals in any other way. In order for to obtain their goal, they believe they
must possess a fearful message.
There are two main types of terrorism: political terrorism and religious terrorism. Political terrorism
attempts to obtain a specific political goal. On the other hand, religious terrorism is based on motives
and goals that are influenced by a religious character. Terrorist attacks are categorized into three

outdoor play area is also paramount to augment the indoor area. The physical and emotional
development is no less important as cognitive development. Children enjoy playing outside; therefore,
confining a child to a hospital bed for the duration of his or her recovery would stifle the recovery
progress and make a traumatic experience an emotional nightmare. A child that is surrounded by
medical equipment in his or her hospital room may develop anxiety and fear that can slow recovery
(Arkansas Children s Hospital, 2016). It must be conveyed to the stakeholders that a natural play area
may improve the recovery time of a child suffering from injuries. Children involved in serious injuries
may have a sibling that visits him or her in the hospital. The hospital may be just as frightening for the
sibling as it is for the injured child. A hospital that has a common outdoor play area could alleviate the
emotional stress for the siblings visiting loved ones in the hospital. In fact, stress can be a definitive
barrier to wellness and recuperating (Feldman, 2016). A hospital that has an outdoor play area could
use this area for young siblings to meet, instead of in a room full of medical equipment. An outside
play area for a hospital would have to be planned meticulously for safety concerns. It should not be
open to the general public and should only be accessed through the hospital. The play area, weather
covered or not, would be sensitive to bad weather and daylight hours;

Pros And Cons Of The National Airspace System
1. Introduction The National Airspace System (NAS) has been becoming busier ever since the Wright
Brothers first took off and the first air mail routes were created in the early 1900s. During this day in
age the NAS supports nearly 87,000 flights per day and is immensely growing as the need for
transportation of goods, people, and services are constantly in demand and even growing in demand.
With the introduction of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) into the NAS, the airspace is getting even
more congested due to the lack of set in stone regulations from the Federal Aviation Administration
(FAA). Now that UAS are becoming more common amongst the general population, the airways are
become much less predictable and much less safe, which causes a threat to the manned general
aviation community. Many of the manned aircraft in the sky are non cooperative, meaning the pilot
has no way of complying with air traffic control directions or contains the equipment needed to see

One of the biggest disadvantages that ICAO states in their report is that the only source for
pinpointing the aircraft location is GPS, which is not a good way to ensure that the position is
accurate. It is also not good because the system does not have any back up way to find the position.
Stated in the ADS B Radar patent, a big disadvantage is that because of the need to use GPS with ADS
B, the possibility of jamming that could ruin the DAA capability between cooperative aircraft. While
this is a disadvantage, the FAA should be able to reduce the likelihood of inaccurate positions by
enforcing regulation that could be put forth. Another way to compensate for the loss of GPS is that the
ADS B Radar patent describes how it can modify the system by adding a radar processor thus making
the ADS B also act as a primary radar system for detecting non cooperative

Eassy On Honesty
Honesty is the best policy , we have all heard this saying time and time again. From a very young age
we have been told lying is frowned upon and yet it seems to be an innate skill rooted deep within us.
While basic in nature, telling the truth seems to be an extremely difficult task for the majority of
people. Being honest often goes against our natural instinct of self preservation. Those who are able to
rise above the temptation of lying and resist the easy way out of uncomfortable situations truly
understand what it means to be an honest person. Honesty is the single most important virtue that a
person can have. It builds the foundation for healthy relationships, it is essential in building trust and
having integrity, and tells a lot about someones character. The challenging aspect of honesty is it isn t
black white. Some might argue it is best to lie in order to protect someones feelings or to keep the
peace. There is the age old question, does this make me look fat? . It has been ingrained into the minds
of men everywhere that the answer is always no. It has come to be a common belief that it is better to
protect someones feelings rather than give it to them straight. This is where society is sadly mistaken.
Being an honest person is more than just telling the truth when it is beneficial, it is about always
sticking to the truth no matter the repercussions. An honest person does not just tell the truth when
asked, but willing presents the information without being

Mao Zedong Thesis
As a result of the Chinese Civil War, the cultural identity of China was left in the hands of Mao
Zedong. During the 19th century, China had veered away from it s dynastic rule and became
imperialized by countries such as England, Germany, France and Japan. They broke China up
economic gain. As said in a text book written by Ethel Wood, This era left many Chinese resentful of
the foreign devils who they eventually rebelled against (AP CGP) In contrast, when Chairman Mao
came to power, China changed completly. Mao Zedong s belief was heavily motivated by Vladimir
Lenin and Marxism. Rooted in the idea of community and the strength of the peasants, He believed
that he could make China a powerful nation and steer his citizens away from Western

A Serious Talk By Raymond Carver
Deepak Chopra once said, In the process of letting go, you will lose many things from the past, but
you will find yourself. In A Serious Talk by Raymond Carver, the reader observed tension due to the
absence of progression in developing a serious conversation. This conversation was planned by Burt,
the protagonist of this story, to relieve the troublesome relationship between him and his ex wife, Vera.
By letting go, Burt could release portions of his past that included his family; although, he could move
on to be happy and find his true meaning in life. Burt should be for the process of letting go because it
would allow him to find his true presence in life, eradicate the past which holds him down and reveal
the path of his future. The feeling of not understanding your presence in life can be frustrating and
sometimes leads to mental issues. By Burt trying to start a serious conversation with Vera, he thought
it may resolve problems rather than resulting in a fight. Burt does not know his place in life due to his
lack of letting go of Vera and his kids, which creates stress for him. Burt showed his lack of releasing
them from his life by saying, I want to apologize to you for last night. I want to apologize to the kids,
too (123). By Burt expressing his sorrow to Vera, one might say he has lost his place in life. It shows
his desperation to find people who love him, however he is doing this incorrectly because he keeps
going back to people who clearly do not care

Analysis Of Alan Turing s Views On Morality
I way society reacted to Alan Turning being gay, made me think about morally. Is there a set morally
or does society have a different sense of morally in different places and time? Does morally change
over time or just are idea of morally? But also I think if Alan Turing didn t have such a passionate
relationship with Christopher that to some would not have been morally right would we have crack

Think of the people that kill and justify it with faith or love. Belief and emotions can change someone
ideas of morally and the big question is where is the line. When do we need to look at a problem like a
computer not a person. We sometimes need to turn off are fear and emotion and decide what is the
best way to save the most people. The problem is the train problem, if a train was going down a track
and you had to either flip the switch and kill one man or kill twenty most people would flip the switch.
But if you had the same case but instead of flipping the switch you had to push the man on the tracks
most could not do it. This is because we are emotional people, but we do have the practical and
analytical intelligence and can analyze I problem and see the math you lose one or twenty. But maybe
it would be I good things to turn off care for a second and push the man in front of the train because
wouldn t can save twenty men. This is why we are not computers, we have morally and emotions that
can we very helpful but sometimes hurtful. The train case one s care and lack of strength lead to
twenty deaths instead of one, so the question is can morally and emotional be a demerit. Would certain
times be better if we could think like computers, this an age old question and I believe no but, maybe
the other side has a point, the computer would have saved twenty men and killed

Innovation Report for Instant Coffee
Instant coffee, or soluble coffee, which is a beverage in liquid form made from coffee and can be soon
reconstituted by adding water, has been a popular product for decades (Allwords, n.d.). People has
gradually become so used to drinking instant coffee that some even did not know what the fresh
brewed coffee tastes like which was found as a result of tastes tests made by at least one manufacturer
(Stacey, Blachford Cengage, 2002). It would seem that the innovation of instant coffee could make a
considerable contribution to economy and people s daily life. The aim of this essay is to analyze the

It was also an obstacle and uncertainty when instant coffee had become more and more worldwide and
began to launch into the other areas except Arabia, Turkey, the United States and Europe where has
originally been covered by other local beverage products. Instant coffee had to consider and face the
business risk of huge investment loss for those areas. Strategies for this marketing challenge,
especially in China, from Nescafe which has been recognized as the world leading brand of instant
coffee, could be illustrated how the instant coffee survives culture shock. According to Chen (2008),
China, a world of tea, where drinking tea had been part of people s daily life regarded as a strong
competitor, would potentially provide a huge market for instant coffee around 1980s, when Nescafe
used a significant strategy of respecting the local cultural diversity. Firstly, branch companies and
factories were launched in China and employed the local people. Then, Nescafe made a contract with
the Chinese coffee supplier in Yunnan, which promised stable purchasing price and even financial and

Humans Were Affected By Island Dwarfism ( Morwood )
Many people, before the discovery of Homo floresiensis, assumed Homo sapiens were the only living
species of the genus homo since Homo erectus. The 2003 discovery of the hobbit in a limestone cave
in Flores, Indonesia changed the way people today view much of the timeline of early human
evolution. The island of Flores was assumed to have never been connected to any mainland, bringing
to question how this species arrived on the island in the first place as well as what the island looked
like at the time. There were several physical characteristics such as leg length and brain size that made
the discovery of Homo floresiensis so special. The bones found were dated to 18,000 years ago,
astoundingly recently (Brown). To this day, it is unclear how this species evolved to be so small.
Scientists had developed several different theories but have frequently come to the conclusion that
these humans were affected by island dwarfism (Morwood). The environment in which Homo
floresiensis lived, their physical structure and the recency of their existence holds many mysteries
around why they were so small and what impact the above factors had on the hobbit s overall size. The
discovery of Homo floresiensis occurred of the coast of Indonesia on one of the Wallecean Islands
called Flores. The dig site which Homo floresiensis was discovered is called Liang Bua or cool cave .
Father Theodore Verhoeven was the first to report and publish that stone tools were found in central

Paris Agreement without the United States of America: Impact on Indonesia
STATEMENT OF RESEARCH PROBLEM:
Paris Agreement as the successor of climate change agreement after Kyoto Protocol is a milestone of a
significant coordination between developed and developing countries in anticipating the threat of
climate change. However, the withdrawal of the United States from this treaty after signing and

The United States of America as a developed country and also the second most polluter country have

Eminent Domain Paper
When Should Eminent Domain be Used?
When should a city or state use their eminent domain powers? Over the past few years there have been
a couple of cases that raised the questions of when eminent domain should be used. One of the most
controversial cases in the history of the United States was the Kelo v New
London Supreme Court ruling. In order to generate tax revenue, add jobs, and to prevent bankruptcy,
the government s right to initiate eminent domain for public good is a necessary evil.
Eminent domain in definition is the right or power of public purposes without the owner s consent on

Which would cause the city to grow and that would provide more money to the government with the
increased tax revenue from all of the new families. This could create more jobs, because more
companies might be interested in locating there due to all of the growth. Eminent domain should also
be used by a city or state if it prevents it from going bankrupt.
A city or state should use eminent domain if it prevents it from going bankrupt. If a city is near
bankrupt then it cannot provide all of the necessary items that a city needs in order to run like it is
supposed to. For example, if a city is short of funds then it would have to reduce its budget in places
that would harm the city. It would have to cut money from the police, and fire departments. However,
by using their eminent domain powers a city could keep all of this from happening by letting a
business come that would create thousands in tax dollars, and add jobs to the city. This means that a
reduction in the police and fire departments would not happen and the city would still run smoothly.
The cities and states that use eminent domain to acquire land in order to keep themselves running
smoothly is sad; however, these cities and states are looking out for what is best for their areas. These
cities and states are not trying to make families move out of their homes in order to earn a quick
dollar. These cities and states are only

Pros And Cons Of Uncorroborated Evidence
Firstly, uncorroborated evidence reduces the rate of perpetrators escaping from conviction. It is
pertinent to note that in most of the sexual assault cases where the child is the victim, there is often
little or no physical evidence. The child and the accused are likely to be the only witnesses. Due to the
requirement of corroborated evidence, where in fact, there is none, it had undoubtedly led to many
perpetrators escaping conviction as the alleged victim, the child s evidence is not corroborated and
there was nothing else to prove guilt beyond reasonable doubt. With the newly implemented section
where there is no requirement of corroborated evidence, the judge has the opportunity to consider the
child s uncorroborated evidence and able to access the weight to be accorded to such evidence in the
particular case. The weight is to be attached to the evidence or testimony of the child and is to be
assessed by the trier of fact but not the rigid requirement of corroborated evidence.
Besides, without the need of corroborated evidence, it is said to be more flexible compared to
requiring the corroborated evidence. The court is such situation will consider the facts and the

more honest, realistic style to life. Not life for the upper class, but for the low level workingman. The
switch to talking about the life of the working class made his work more real; his war poems were told
through the view of the common soldier. His switch in his poetry theme was not pleasing to everyone
though. A conscript is compulsory enlistment for state services, specifically armed forces. The
Conscript is about how working class men, the conscripts, are being examined by doctors to see if
they are in the proper conditions to go to war or be sent home. The doctors do not care if the men die
instantly when they go to war. In The Conscript, Wilfrid Wilson Gibson develops the theme of the
predestined death for the common man. The poet does this by ... Show more content on

Macabre is shocking and gruesome, like the description of the conscripts bodies as they wait to be

explaining they are so badly injured they might as well be dead. Darkened brain is how mentally and
physically affected they are and their dreams are dark, the same as nightmares. In the line prior to
these the word hasty is used meaning how quickly the soldiers will go into war and die without even
being cared about. Gibson develops his own personality with the usage of tone, he is the voice of the
ordinary soldier that gets forgotten about during the time of the big war. The men being examined are
being examined for their death and to have nightmares from the war which is what Gibson wants the
reader to understand that these men being forced to fight are being forced into their death.

Love And Madness In The Duchess Of Malfi
Webster s The Duchess of Malfi (1608) a tragedy of love and madness. Webster is interested in
exploring the connection between love and mad jealousy by locating the homicidal jealousy in a
brother yearning for his sister, he compounds our awareness of the dark side of sexual desire, and the
potential for specific types of love to explode into violence. In Ferdinand, Webster presents us with
another form of forbidden love and enables us to explore the relationship between love and death from
the perspective of the villain.
Once Ferdinand hears of his sister s marriage to Antonio he raves Methinks I see her laughing
excellent hyena! Talk to me somewhat, quickly, or my imagination will carry me to see her in the
shameful act of sin The madness of Ferdinand s behavior toward his sister has led a lot of people to
conclude that he actually has incestuous feeling for her and he doesn t want his family legacy to be
transferred to this low birth and gives him new social identity as her husband. But when duchess first
proposes to Antonio he says Ambition, madam, is a great man s madness (1.1.412) which shows that
Antonio is not interested of getting social identity.

The Effects Of Induced Therapeutic Hypothermia On Cardiac...
Medic respond, stoppage, chirped the intercom. The call went out for an adult male found down,
pulseless and apneic, by family at approximately 2200 hours. EMS personnel arrived on scene,
performed quality CPR and followed appropriate ACLS algorithms, and found an organized rhythm
with matching peripheral pulses at the third check. Per 2010 AHA guidelines, medics performed a 12
lead EKG, managed the patient s hypotension with a fluid bolus, and managed the patient s airway by
endotracheal intubation (American Heart Association, 2011). The patient displayed no neurological

The American Heart Association (2011) states that, Therapeutic hypothermia is the only intervention
demonstrated to improve neurologic recovery after cardiac arrest (Pp 77). Recommendations range
between 32 and 36 degrees centigrade for 12 to 36 hours. Cooling may be achieved through either
introduction of cooled, isotonic, non glucose containing fluid, or surface cooling interventions like ice
packs or cold packs. The AHA states, however, that patient core temperature must be monitored by an
esophageal thermometer, a pulmonary artery catheter, or a bladder catheter and that peripheral
temperature measurements via axillary, aural, or oral thermometers are inadequate for measuring core
temperatures in targeted temperature management. Therefore, while the AHA does recommend
initiation of therapeutic hypothermia by EMS personnel in certain situations, agencies must carry and
be trained in the use of equipment to adequately measure the patient s core temperature. Further, the
AHA states that therapeutic hypothermia results in increased neurologic function post cardiac arrest
but does not identify a timeframe for initiation for these protocols, let alone explore whether or not
initiation of post cardiac arrest targeted temperature management by EMS influences patient
outcomes. According to a study published in the

Pros And Cons Of Early Childhood Education
The career I have chosen is Early Childhood Education. This type of teaching is at the elementary
level. I would be working with children in pre kindergarten through the fifth grade. To become an
Early Childhood Teacher, I will need a high school diploma and a Bachelor s Degree. After I receive
my undergraduate degree I will be awarded a teaching certificate and able to begin teaching
immediately after.
The three colleges that I am interested in are Kennesaw State University, Georgia Northwestern
Technical College, and Georgia Highlands. Kennesaw State University in located in Kennesaw,
Georgia. It is approximately forty minutes from my house. This is a plus, because it is not too close
nor too far away from home. It is a four year public college, so I would be able to get my bachelor s
degree in Early Childhood Education. The enrollment rate for undergraduate students is 35, 018 (
Kennesaw ). The campus setting is large, and the college does have housing for their students to live
in. The student to faculty rate is 20 to 1. Kennesaw State University has a fairly good graduation rate
with forty three percent ( Kennesaw ). Georgia Northwestern Technical College is located in Rome,
Georgia. It is a two year public school so the campus setting is small. There are 6,016 students that are
enrolled at Georgia Northwestern Technical College ( Georgia Northwestern ). They do not have

My Memories That Changed My Mind
One of the memories that is more permeate in my mind is when my father had to travel to China for
business intentions. I remember when he leaves the country, but not more than when he arrived home.
Usually, when he came back home, he usually bring with him some gifts for me and my mother, and
he never forgets to bring me my favorite gift which I still love when he give away to me. I like to call
it as the God´s dessert because of its curious shape of production, intense flavor, and delightful
meaning. Thinking in this product makes me want to have some of it. The first impression people
might have when they see this dessert is that it might be an expensive and luxurious product because
of its embellished packaging. It can be identified by the cute design of the box due to the fact that on
the left of the box there is a sumptuous ribbon that its background color is a combination between dark
cinnamon and lightly caramel, furthermore, the ribbon has the brand´s name sketched all around it.
The theme color of the whole box is pearly white what makes the letters of the brand, written on the
top of the box, stand out in a bright gold. Moreover, bellow the ribbon there is a little description in
French about the glamorous product and next to it a small window made of transparent plastic where
the small pieces of the product are shown to the public. The most interesting thing comes after its
purchase. I start feeling the anxiety when it is time to open this fancy box because as

The learning theories discussed in this lesson such as behaviourism, social learning theory,
constructivism, cognitive learning theory, and the social constructivism/ sociocultural theory are all
useful and important to implement in the classroom as an educator. I really like the social learning
theory and this is one theory that I will always implement in my classroom. This theory explains how
observing other s behavior and perceiving the consequences, through observational learning and
modeling can influence learning and behavior (Vousden, Wood, Holliman, 2014). Learning can take
place by watching other people in the environment. The best way to implement this strategy in my
classroom is to model positive and appropriate behavior on how students should be in the classroom.
Students will see learn the concept of good behavior by watching the me as the teacher and other
students around the classroom.

19th Century American Imperialism
Industrial revolution motivated European powers like France, Germany, and Britain to expand their
imperial rule in the 19th century. They believed imperial expansion and colonial domination were
necessary for their survival of their states and societies. Modern imperialism allowed European
powers to profit from subject societies and influence their affairs without having to apply direct
political control. Modern colonialism further allowed European powers to control the subject s lands
political, social, economic, and cultural structures. The major goals of European imperialism were
economic, political, military, and ideological reason. European nations need additional resources and

White colonizers believed that they had to impose their civilization on the distant lands because the
natives are uncivilized. It is the greatest possible mistake to suppose that a European can acquire a
greater influence by adopting the mode of life of the natives. In effect, it is to lower himself to their
plane, instead of elevating them to his (Capt. F.D. Lugard, 3). Imperialists viewed their beliefs as the
superior culture and if they were to adopt another culture rather than spread their, it would be a
downgrade for Europeans rather than help save the natives. Missionaries seek to introduce Christianity
to converts and other Europeans help civilized natives in political order and social stability.
Missionaries also have other benefits besides spreading Christianity. Missionaries help make
communication between imperialist and subject peoples easier, sometime provide information to
European officials on how to maintain control of oversea colonies, and their settlements also served as
a convenient meeting place for European overseas and as a distribution centers for European

Nonviolent Resistance Research Paper
Nonviolence is fine as long as it works, Malcolm X once said. Our society is one that celebrates
battlefield heroes on national holidays and grows up believing that violence and courage are one and
the same. Many political scientists and government leaders buy into the idea that power flows from
the barrel of a gun and that true victories cannot come without bloodshed on both sides. These experts
and scholars bring up cases where violence worked fairly well, such as the Algerian, French, and
Russian revolutions, to substantiate their beliefs and notions. These examples, however, are not
representative of the broader idea or prove that violent campaigns of protest are more successful than
nonviolent campaigns. In fact, Malcom X would have been intrigued to learn that that nonviolent
resistance is more effective than armed resistance in overturning oppressive and repressive regimes
and in leading to more democratic societies. We must urge our elected ... Show more content on

Nonviolent campaigns are much more representative in terms of gender, age, race, political party, and
class. Civil resistance allows people of all different levels of physical ability to participate, including
the elderly, people with disabilities, women, children, and essentially anyone else who wants to.
Everyone is born with an equal physical ability to resist nonviolently. On the other hand, violent
resistance is much more physically demanding and, therefore, more exclusive. Furthermore, the
visibility of many civil resistance tactics, like protests or demonstrations, helps to draw risk averse or
hesitant people into the fray. Principally, nonviolent campaigns can solicit more diverse and active
participation from ambivalent people. The inclusive nature of these nonviolent campaigns resonates
fundamentally with the medium used to achieve their primary goals:

Peritoneal Dialysis Research Paper
Peritoneal dialysis catheter placement is a surgery to insert a thin, flexible tube (catheter) in your

removed from the blood. In peritoneal dialysis, these tasks are performed by transferring a fluid called
dialysate to and from your abdomen during each session. The fluid goes through the catheter to enter
the abdomen at the start of each dialysis session, and it drains out of the body through the catheter at

Since 1913, Clorox has had a reputation of leading the industry with its products.
This situational analysis includes industry forces, company statistics and financial information, a list
of environmental factors that deal with how the company operates, and competitor information.
Industry Forces
The Clorox Company does business within the industry of Nondurable Goods; especially relevant to
the product of Disinfecting Wipes, the company is associated with the sub industry of Household
Products. Two significant forces should be considered when examining the industry and individual
companies within this industry: innovation and competition.
Threat of Substitutes and Innovation
The threat of substitutes for the Household Products of the Nondurables Industry is high. As
mentioned before, each company produces a product that is very similar to its competitors. Customers
also have high bargaining power in that they can buy substitute products such as paper towels and
disinfecting sprays. If a company does not spend time and effort marketing its products, consumers
will not be able to differentiate them from a competitor.
The typical household product has a life of approximately five years from the conception of the
product until it is stripped from shelves. The product will go through one to two years of development,
testing, and marketing. It will then

others were not so fun to hear. My father is a hardworking man as well as a family man. He was a
strong proponent of discipline for his children and expected us to be respectful and to obey the rules.
My earliest memories of my father were him working at Louisiana Downs, during the racing season,
as an assistant horse trainer and as a semi truck driver during the down time. He would often take my
older sister and me to the track or in the semi with him so we could work with him. He was well

Russian Nesting Dolls, Matryoshka
Russian Nesting Dolls, Matryoshka
Every nation has various forms of representing its people, their believes and culture through their
unique rituals, fascinating customs, and their possessions. All of these representations of culture
behold a specific meaning and unique purpose that has to be passed on to the next generation. The
same can be said about Russian famous Babushka Dolls. Babushka Dolls are also called Russian
Nesting dolls or Matryoshka, which is a famous Russian wooden set of dolls that are designed in a
very specific way, so that the wooden figures of decreasing size could be placed one inside another. In
order to do so, each figure could be taken apart in two halves like plastic Easter eggs. These dolls are
decorated in different styles, but the original way had changed since the first Matryosha was made in
1890 by Vasily Zvyozdochkin, who is a Russian turning craftsman, and painted by Sergey Malyutin,
who is a Russian painter and a stage designer (Terletski). Nowadays, anyone, mostly tourists, can
purchase Matryoshkas at any craft stores in Russia. However, Russian Nesting Doll is not just a very
popular souvenir, but it is also an interesting representation of our culture because it is considered to
be a very educating toy for children, a remarkable representation of female beauty, and also a symbol
of a family and fertility.

Analysis Of Nell Guthrie Sat On The Town Dock With Her...
Later that evening, Nell Guthrie sat on the town dock with her beau, Asa Davis. A rain cloud had
passed over and drenched Beaufort while Nell was eating supper with her mother and father, but now
the western sky was streaked with a sunset of orange, fuchsia and hints of chartreuse. The cloudburst
washed the movement out of the air, leaving behind a humid tranquility. Leaning toward her, Asa
nuzzled his paramour s ear, making her tremble. Where you been hidin out, lover? Has your daddy
been working you hard? She returned the kiss, teasing him with her lips. Daddy let me have the
afternoon off so I could clam for supper tonight. I thought I saw you leave the store. Then I stopped by
your house to deliver some laudanum for your mother. Thrilled that he was thinking of her throughout
the day, she answered, You know you have boys who make deliveries for you. I wanted to see my girl.
As she burrowed her face into his chest, she inhaled his familiar scent of perspiration and spicy bay
rum. Shifting around, she nestled her back into Asa s solid chest and shoulder. When he wrapped his
arms around her, and she could feel the rhythmic beating from his heart. Moored work boats filled the
glassy, calm harbor, many of them on their way to the Northeast after a winter in the South and the

  • 2. Anderson s Auteur Theory The first premise of auteur theory, which acts as a criterion of value to identify directorial talent, is technical competence in all aspects of mise en scène (Sarris, 1962, pp 562). Although Sarris does not specify what constitutes good filmmaking, technical competence implies a director s efficiency to manage the production stages (Morley Silver, 1977) with an ...elementary flair of the medium and a technical mastery... of ...sets, costumes, cinematography, editing, music and so forth (Chaudhuri, 2013, pp 23). By expertly manipulating these technical aspects, Anderson creates a balanced, stylised reality in many of his films known as formalistic classicism. Moonrise Kingdom (Moonrise) is a prime example of Anderson s impeccable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In keeping with auteur theory, Anderson s oeuvre s stylistic choices and thematic elements are a self reflection of personal experiences such as his childhood. Familial dysfunction, in particular, has a prominent thematic consistency across Anderson s work due to the director experiencing ...the single most traumatic event in his childhood...the divorce of his parents (Dilley, 2017, pp 17). This is strongly evident in Moonrise, which sees such childhood experiences transcribed directly into the characters, narrative and mise en scène. In Moonrise the protagonists Khaki Scout Sam Shakusky and love interest Suzy Bishop are children from dysfunctional families just like Anderson. Audiences blatantly see this theme included within the narrative when Sam s foster parents reject ownership of him over the phone, and also (as well as in the mise en scène) when an upset Suzy is in a bathtub reading a book titled Coping with the Very Troubled Child (as she says I hate you to her unfaithful mother). This prop, Suzy s book, is a direct reference to when an eight year old Anderson stumbled upon a pamphlet at home titled Coping with the Very Troubled Child (Mottram, 2012). Anderson portrays his past feeling of upset through Suzy s character and the bathroom s gloomy colour palette which is a grungy yellowy green. Despite the negative connotations associated ... Today I m going to focus on Intuition, and as you may already have guessed, the Brexit. * Slide 2 RLS Before diving straight into things, here is a very brief recap of the Brexit, thus far. * On Thursday 23rd June 2016, the Referendum on the United Kingdom s membership of the European Union, otherwise known as the Brexit vote, was staged for a third time with historic consequences. Where the majority of the votes from the participating population supported the bid to leave the European Union, 48.1 to 51.9%. The result leaving the British economy in pieces, major politicians forced to resign, including those that supported the bit to Leave , along with the then Prime Minister David Cameron and the ... The knowledge question also has subsidiary links to History and Reason which will be investigated later on.* Slide 4 KC Personal Ex. Development 1 of the knowledge question will focus on my personal perspective and examples that were gathered, particularly focusing on Ethics. My personal knowledge claim in response to the knowledge question * is that I believe that the value of ethical arguments is more significant in comparison to other claims that are mainly based on intuition, in the context of supported knowledge without significant evidence, which was a main concept that was outlined when analysing the Brexit vote. * A personal example of where is may be evident is in my IB Psychology Subject, A psychology experiment was carried out where 2 (scripted) presenters gave 2 separate arguments on a particular topic to 2 groups of participants. The first presenter focused on the numerous perspectives and repercussions that the topic would create and touch on and what the situation would do to those different people (Much like a TOK presentation), as well as touching on the ethics of the topic. The second speaker focused on their personal perspective and their thoughts, ignoring any other perspectives and only presuming outcomes, they also ignored any and all ethical viewpoints. The things they were well known for were their religious beliefs and their philosophies. Though both were pivotal for the Greek people, these two areas were very different. Greek Religion To the Greeks, religion, was a major part of their private and public life every day. Greek religion was big on public rituals, community festivals, showed great community pride, and was big on their heritage. Their religion was more public than private. Their religion was divided up into two categories. The Olympian deities whom they felt dwelled in the skies or mountaintops. In the context of international relations, terrorism is one of the most challenged definitions. The term terrorism is politically and emotionally charged, which has made it difficult for the international community to develop a universally agreed upon definition. In a general sense, terrorism can be expressed as the use or threatened use of force against civilians to provoke political or social change. Shared elements of terrorism also include that it is political in nature or intent, its perpetrators are non state actors, and its targets are noncombatants. • 7. The Physical And Emotional Development outdoor play area is also paramount to augment the indoor area. The physical and emotional development is no less important as cognitive development. Children enjoy playing outside; therefore, confining a child to a hospital bed for the duration of his or her recovery would stifle the recovery progress and make a traumatic experience an emotional nightmare. A child that is surrounded by medical equipment in his or her hospital room may develop anxiety and fear that can slow recovery (Arkansas Children s Hospital, 2016). It must be conveyed to the stakeholders that a natural play area may improve the recovery time of a child suffering from injuries. Children involved in serious injuries may have a sibling that visits him or her in the hospital. The hospital may be just as frightening for the sibling as it is for the injured child. A hospital that has a common outdoor play area could alleviate the emotional stress for the siblings visiting loved ones in the hospital. In fact, stress can be a definitive barrier to wellness and recuperating (Feldman, 2016). A hospital that has an outdoor play area could use this area for young siblings to meet, instead of in a room full of medical equipment. An outside play area for a hospital would have to be planned meticulously for safety concerns. It should not be open to the general public and should only be accessed through the hospital. The play area, weather covered or not, would be sensitive to bad weather and daylight hours; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Pros And Cons Of The National Airspace System 1. Introduction The National Airspace System (NAS) has been becoming busier ever since the Wright Brothers first took off and the first air mail routes were created in the early 1900s. During this day in age the NAS supports nearly 87,000 flights per day and is immensely growing as the need for transportation of goods, people, and services are constantly in demand and even growing in demand. With the introduction of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) into the NAS, the airspace is getting even more congested due to the lack of set in stone regulations from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Now that UAS are becoming more common amongst the general population, the airways are become much less predictable and much less safe, which causes a threat to the manned general aviation community. Many of the manned aircraft in the sky are non cooperative, meaning the pilot has no way of complying with air traffic control directions or contains the equipment needed to see other ... Stated in the ADS B Radar patent, a big disadvantage is that because of the need to use GPS with ADS B, the possibility of jamming that could ruin the DAA capability between cooperative aircraft. While this is a disadvantage, the FAA should be able to reduce the likelihood of inaccurate positions by enforcing regulation that could be put forth. • 9. Eassy On Honesty Honesty is the best policy , we have all heard this saying time and time again. From a very young age we have been told lying is frowned upon and yet it seems to be an innate skill rooted deep within us. While basic in nature, telling the truth seems to be an extremely difficult task for the majority of people. Being honest often goes against our natural instinct of self preservation. Those who are able to rise above the temptation of lying and resist the easy way out of uncomfortable situations truly understand what it means to be an honest person. Honesty is the single most important virtue that a person can have. It builds the foundation for healthy relationships, it is essential in building trust and having integrity, and tells a lot about someones character. The challenging aspect of honesty is it isn t black white. Some might argue it is best to lie in order to protect someones feelings or to keep the peace. There is the age old question, does this make me look fat? . It has been ingrained into the minds of men everywhere that the answer is always no. It has come to be a common belief that it is better to protect someones feelings rather than give it to them straight. This is where society is sadly mistaken. Being an honest person is more than just telling the truth when it is beneficial, it is about always sticking to the truth no matter the repercussions. • 11. A Serious Talk By Raymond Carver Deepak Chopra once said, In the process of letting go, you will lose many things from the past, but you will find yourself. In A Serious Talk by Raymond Carver, the reader observed tension due to the absence of progression in developing a serious conversation. This conversation was planned by Burt, the protagonist of this story, to relieve the troublesome relationship between him and his ex wife, Vera. By letting go, Burt could release portions of his past that included his family; although, he could move on to be happy and find his true meaning in life. Burt should be for the process of letting go because it would allow him to find his true presence in life, eradicate the past which holds him down and reveal the path of his future. The feeling of not understanding your presence in life can be frustrating and sometimes leads to mental issues. By Burt trying to start a serious conversation with Vera, he thought it may resolve problems rather than resulting in a fight. Burt does not know his place in life due to his lack of letting go of Vera and his kids, which creates stress for him. Burt showed his lack of releasing them from his life by saying, I want to apologize to you for last night. I want to apologize to the kids, too (123). By Burt expressing his sorrow to Vera, one might say he has lost his place in life. It shows his desperation to find people who love him, however he is doing this incorrectly because he keeps going back to people who clearly do not care ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The problem is the train problem, if a train was going down a track and you had to either flip the switch and kill one man or kill twenty most people would flip the switch. Humans Were Affected By Island Dwarfism ( Morwood ) Many people, before the discovery of Homo floresiensis, assumed Homo sapiens were the only living species of the genus homo since Homo erectus. The 2003 discovery of the hobbit in a limestone cave in Flores, Indonesia changed the way people today view much of the timeline of early human evolution. The island of Flores was assumed to have never been connected to any mainland, bringing to question how this species arrived on the island in the first place as well as what the island looked like at the time. There were several physical characteristics such as leg length and brain size that made the discovery of Homo floresiensis so special. The bones found were dated to 18,000 years ago, astoundingly recently (Brown). To this day, it is unclear how this species evolved to be so small. Scientists had developed several different theories but have frequently come to the conclusion that these humans were affected by island dwarfism (Morwood). The environment in which Homo floresiensis lived, their physical structure and the recency of their existence holds many mysteries around why they were so small and what impact the above factors had on the hobbit s overall size. The discovery of Homo floresiensis occurred of the coast of Indonesia on one of the Wallecean Islands called Flores. Over the past few years there have been a couple of cases that raised the questions of when eminent domain should be used. One of the most controversial cases in the history of the United States was the Kelo v New London Supreme Court ruling. In order to generate tax revenue, add jobs, and to prevent bankruptcy, the government s right to initiate eminent domain for public good is a necessary evil. If a city is near bankrupt then it cannot provide all of the necessary items that a city needs in order to run like it is supposed to. For example, if a city is short of funds then it would have to reduce its budget in places that would harm the city. It would have to cut money from the police, and fire departments. However, by using their eminent domain powers a city could keep all of this from happening by letting a business come that would create thousands in tax dollars, and add jobs to the city. This means that a reduction in the police and fire departments would not happen and the city would still run smoothly. The cities and states that use eminent domain to acquire land in order to keep themselves running smoothly is sad; however, these cities and states are looking out for what is best for their areas. The poet s work originally started out as magical story telling; then abandoned that style for a more honest, realistic style to life. Not life for the upper class, but for the low level workingman. The switch to talking about the life of the working class made his work more real; his war poems were told through the view of the common soldier. His switch in his poetry theme was not pleasing to everyone though. A conscript is compulsory enlistment for state services, specifically armed forces. The Conscript is about how working class men, the conscripts, are being examined by doctors to see if they are in the proper conditions to go to war or be sent home. My father is a hardworking man as well as a family man. He was a strong proponent of discipline for his children and expected us to be respectful and to obey the rules. My earliest memories of my father were him working at Louisiana Downs, during the racing season, as an assistant horse trainer and as a semi truck driver during the down time. He would often take my older sister and me to the track or in the semi with him so we could work with him. He was well respected at the track and people were naturally drawn to him. It may have been his big smile, which he does not like to share in pictures, his stories, or his willingness to help others and the respect he expressed to others. In 1985, my parents decided to move the family to Fairbanks, Alaska which is where the majority of my mother s family was living. My father drove my mom, my older sister, and me to California where we met up with my aunt and her family to continue the drive to Alaska. While in California, my mother was involved in pedestrian versus car collision in a gas station parking lot. The operator of the vehicle responsible for the collision was an intoxicated male. A rain cloud had passed over and drenched Beaufort while Nell was eating supper with her mother and father, but now the western sky was streaked with a sunset of orange, fuchsia and hints of chartreuse. The cloudburst washed the movement out of the air, leaving behind a humid tranquility. Leaning toward her, Asa nuzzled his paramour s ear, making her tremble. Where you been hidin out, lover? Has your daddy been working you hard? She returned the kiss, teasing him with her lips. Daddy let me have the afternoon off so I could clam for supper tonight. I thought I saw you leave the store. Then I stopped by your house to deliver some laudanum for your mother. Thrilled that he was thinking of her throughout the day, she answered, You know you have boys who make deliveries for you. I wanted to see my girl. As she burrowed her face into his chest, she inhaled his familiar scent of perspiration and spicy bay rum. Shifting around, she nestled her back into Asa s solid chest and shoulder. When he wrapped his arms around her, and she could feel the rhythmic beating from his heart.
