Kreidezeitudist Movement Essay
The fifth, and one of the largest and most well known extinctions in Earths history was the Cretaceous
period, where many species, including the dinosaurs, pterosaurs, and large marine reptiles,
disappeared. This period was widely known as the K T period, K being the traditional abbreviation for
the Cretaceous Period derived from the German name Kreidezeit, and T being the abbreviation for the
Tertiary Period (a historical term for the period of time now covered by the Paleogene and Neogene
periods). It was a relatively warm climate and had high global sea levels. The oceans and seas were
populated with now extinct marine reptiles, ammonites and rudists, and the land by dinosaurs. At the
same time, new groups of mammals and birds as well as flowering plants appeared. The early part of
the Cretaceous showed a cooling trend that had been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because there were no known fossil non avian dinosaur fossils in rocks younger than the K T
boundary, scientists have concluded that non avian dinosaurs became extinct immediately before, or
during the event. It is possible that small dinosaurs (other than birds) did survive, but they would have
been deprived of food as both herbivorous dinosaurs would have found plant material scarce, and
carnivores would have quickly found prey to be in short supply. Ectothermic (cold blooded) crocodiles
have very limited needs for food (they can survive several months without eating) while endothermic
(warm blooded) animals of similar size need much more food in order to sustain their faster
metabolism. Therefore, under the circumstances of food chain disruption previously mentioned, non
avian dinosaurs died while some crocodiles survived. The survival of other endothermic animals, such
as some birds and mammals, could be due, among other reasons, to their smaller needs for food,
related to their small size at the extinction

Essay On The Murderers
I was gathering a cluster of pearls on the beach when hazy mist cleared over the azure sea and a
gargantuan silhouette emerged before my very eyes, a dragon! On this dragon were fierce looking
warriors with eyes of solid hatred.
I went through what I had just seen for a brief moment and then charged into the monastery as if I d
been fired by a catapult, with a glance back to make sure I wasn t making it up. DRAGON! is what I
repeatedly screamed, I think half of our little population lost any ability to hear in that moment. But it
was true, no lie, we were under attack.
Genuinely terrified for my life, I sprinted straight through into the dungeons. After passing many
criminals (murderers, more murderers, even more murderers and a toilet ... Show more content on

He had a threatening look on his tattooed face with a long, blond beard, tied in a plait. Power seemed
to radiate from his hammer as he swung it towards my head to crush it to breadcrumbs. And I was
going to let it happen, until Sid shoved me out of the way and sense overtook fear as the leader of my
confused brain, along with bravery and the will to fight. The hammer missed and demolished the wall
behind my position as of two seconds ago. I backed into the wall, or what was left of it, and I took a
stumble...
I gracefully fell, screaming my head off, and I thought I was done for. However, unlike most people
here, I can swim. In one movement, I tried to kick off my footwear only to find out that I was
barefoot. I soared through the air as if an angel and beautifully landed the perfect (and also painful)
belly flop. I saw on the horizon the dragon, so madness took over and I shot off at a wonderful one
mph. As I got closer, I realised that Sid was right. This was no dragon, it was a huge viking longship! I
clambered aboard and started to sail off, however, I thought that this was selfish and started to turn
round to rescue my friends. But as I turned round I saw something that made me look away in disgust.

Essay about Sculptures in James Baldwin s If Beale Street...
In Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave, Written by Himself, Douglass
describes his overseer as a man of the most inflexible firmness and stone like coolness (Andrews 181).
He adds that his mistress s tender heart became stone (Andrews 188). When he first tries to free
himself from such people, Douglass ends up all alone, within the walls of a stone prison (Andrews
208). Throughout these references, the image of stone is repeatedly linked with the stonehearted and
dramatic Caucasian oppression of African Americans. James Baldwin also includes images of stone
and wood in his novel, If Beale Street Could Talk. Stone and wood are often mentioned together and
are used for a joint purpose as Fonny, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

of justice ( Rape, def. 3). Although Fonny defends Tish from an attacker at a vegetable stand, Officer
Bell says, We re going to take you down, boy, for assault and battery (Baldwin 149). This is improper
treatment because the officer tries to arrest Fonny despite Tish s defense of his actions, and he
repeatedly refers to Fonny as boy even after Tish points out that [h]e s not a boy (Baldwin 149). When
the white Italian woman, who owns the vegetable stand, also defends Fonny s actions, the officer
decides not to arrest him; however, as a result of the officer s metaphorical rape and taunting parting
remarks, Fonny experiences a metaphorical stone imprisonment. [W]ith a dreadful quietness he tells
Tish, Don t ever try to protect me again (Baldwin 151). His defenses are up, and he presents a stony
exterior to his girlfriend; he makes her cry although he s tormented and he knows, hadn t been for

clear that it s his role to protect her, but it s not her role to protect him; likewise, it s not her role to

The Impact Of Technology In Airport Security
Sixteen years and billions of dollars invested in the growth of aviation security after the terrorist
attacks on the Pentagon and the World Trade Center, threats to airport security continuously progress
as the United States aviation security encounters numerous changes. Since the September 11th attacks,
the Transportation Security Administration, also known as the TSA, initiated their plan to ensure the
safety of nearly 2 million air passengers at approximately 440 airports nationwide. (Carraway)
Although the TSA implemented new training procedures, the aviation screeners fail to apply their
skills effective during searches and checkpoints. In the general public, many claim that technological
screening procedures will be more effective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is not logical to invest a significant amount of federal funds into airline security employment if there
is a large discrepancy between their current performances and expected results. However, technology
utilizes a significantly less amount of funding, but continues to perform its tasks. The Trump
administration plans to eliminate three airport security programs that were implemented after the 9/11
terrorist attack: Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response program that conduct random sweeps
through airports and other modes of transportation, Behavior Detection Officer program that identifies
potentially high risk individuals exhibiting behavior indicative of excessiveness then re routes them
for additional screening, and the grant program to support local police at airports, specifically, likely
target cities. (Halsey) These plans indicate that the Trump administration believes that the termination
of these programs will increase the budget for the Department of Homeland Security, but does not
reduce the number of TSA officers at checkpoints. There is also more funding for the government to
invest in other areas to improve the security for the general public. There is also a current decline in
airport staffing. In this report, the TSA admits that TSO staffing levels fell from 47,147 full time
employees to 42,525 between 2013 and 2016; concurrent passenger volume rose 15 percent in this
period, while the TSA only hired 373 workers to

Departures Movie Analysis
In the movie, Departures, the burial ritual is drastically different from the burial rituals here in the U.S.
In the Japanese culture, more is done to preserve the body. For example, in part 2 of the movie there is
a scene where Mr. Sasaki is embalming a woman s body. The woman s body was laid on a mat with
several sheets on top of her and her family and friends kneeling on the floor to watch the process. Mr.
Sasaki starts out by removing the cloth on the woman s face and cleaning her body with a sanitary
wipe. He then wraps her body in traditional Japanese clothing and folds her hands together. After, he
applies makeup to her skin and her favorite lipstick in order to restore her to her original beauty. Mr.

Troilus And Cressida In The Odyssey
William Shakespeare s play Troilus and Cressida is a play covering the events leading up the mythic
Odyssey. Much like many modern works, as well as Shakespeare s own, the story plays host to a love
story between two characters, the titular, Troilus and Cressida. The pair are both Trojans, each from
noble houses; Troilus, son to Prima the king of Troy, and Cressida, daughter to Calchas a priest within
the city. The love affair betwixt the pair is interesting to say the least, as it appears early on in the text
to be one sided. In ACT I Scene 2, Cressida is introduced and speaks with her uncle, Pandarus. Here
Cressida talks with Pandarus and seems to think little of Troilus, comparing him disfavorably to his
elder brother Hector, O Jupiter, there s no comparison! (1.2 295) Cressida and Pandarus go back and

Cressida relents. The trio end their discussion with a vow whereto and henceforth all true men are to

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Phased Effort Distribution
3.2.1 Phased effort distribution
Reasonable resources allocation to software phases is a vital factor for the success of software
projects‎
[52].Effort distribution to phases is the key to a more efficient resource allocation.
This approach is proposed to estimate the effort of migrated services. The effort is estimated for
different project phases. The service s cost often varies depending on the migration strategy used; this
is mainly because each migration strategy has its own cost factors. In this approach, the cost factors of
SOA are extracted from previous literatures .These cost factors are distributed among SOA project
phases. Each cost factor is given a weight for each migration strategy. These weights of different
factors are grouped by project phase. All the weights of all factors are aggregated per migration
strategy. The relative effort ratio for each phase is calculated by dividing the total weights of the phase
factors to the total weight of the migration strategy The whole process is summarized in Figure 12.

College Athletes And Ncaa Violations
Student athletes face a major problem that the NCAA holds them accountable. If any student athlete
commits what is held as an NCAA violation they are forced to miss playing time or other
consequences as well. NCAA violations have become a chronic problem in collegiate sports. When
students violate the NCAA rules it can jeopardize their future career in whatever sport they are
playing. Some of the rules don t even make sense they are just useless. These rules need to be dealt
with in order for the students to just be able to go along with their lives. Current Research What
exactly are NCAA violations? NCAA violations are what are enforced if any student athlete or even a
coach commits a violation of the NCAA rules. The article College Athletes and NCAA Violations does
a good job at summing up what exactly NCAA violations are. Jason Winfree, states that minimal
violations happen all the time, but substantial violations almost are never committed (Winfree 2012).
Stating that small violations shows that student athletes will be punished for some of the smallest
things possible. Jason also includes that players will violate rules if it doesn t violate what they believe
(Winfree 2012) so if a student believes that the need for whatever violation they will be committing
will be worth the time to commit than they will do it anyway. The article argues that the NCAA wants
these rules in place to make sure that the students athletes sees themselves as students and not as

The Psychosocial Theory Of Play During The Life Stages Of...
My report paper is based upon Erikson s psychosocial approach in the dimension of play during the
life stages of infancy and early school age. Psychosocial approach interested me the most because it
involves every stage of development from infancy to death in which there is a psychosocial crisis that
the person has to overcome to successfully move to the next stage of development. These
psychosocial crises are viewed as tension which are a normal experience for each individual because a
person s competencies and the demands that are place upon them by society are not the same. Erikson
s view of play interested me more than Piaget and Vygotsky s which is why I chose to focus on the
psychosocial theory of play. According to Erikson, The play often not only represented the problem
but also offers a solution so that children experience some new sense of resolution and a reduction in
the tension associated with the conflict (Newman Newman, 2012, p. 214). Psychosocial is a
combination of interactions among biological, psychological, and societal processes which allows us
to understand that this approach has a multi disciplinary view. When a person has a positive resolution
to each crisis it helps the person become able to be successful in the following stages which is why it
is so important to be able to adapt. The way a person handles their life experiences also influences
how the direction of development occurs as well as the biological and societal aspects. These

In this article, we ll look at how to grab the password hashes from a Linux system and crack the
hashes using probably the most widely used password cracking tool out there,
John the Ripper.
Let s boot up BackTrack and get hacking!
Where Linux Passwords Are Stored
Linux passwords are stored in the /etc/passwd file in cleartext in older systems and in
/etc/shadow file in hash form on newer systems. We should expect that the passwords on anything
other than old legacy systems to be stored in /etc/shadow.
Step 1: Create Some User Accounts
Since our BackTrack system probably doesn t have many users on it other than our root account, let s
go ahead and create a couple more accounts.
Let s create user1 with password flower and user2 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, let s type both: bt cp /etc/shadow ./ bt cp /etc/passwd ./
In Linux, the cp command means copy and the ./ represents our current directory. So this command
says, copy the contents of /etc/shadow to my current directory. We do the same for the /etc/ passwd
file.
Step 5: Unshadow
Next we need to combine the information in the /etc/shadow and the /etc/passwd files, so that
John can do its magic. bt ./unshadow passwd shadow passwords
Step 6: Crack!
Now that we have unshadowed the critical files, we can simply let John run on our password file. bt
john passwords
John the Ripper will proceed to attempt to crack your passwords. As you can see, it cracked
all three of ours in a matter of seconds! Of course, more complex passwords will take significantly
more time, but all we need is just one user with a simple password and we have access to the account
in seconds.
It s also important to note that any password cracker is only as good as its word list See more at:

The Firebird Suite (1910; version from 1919)
Introduction The Firebird and its Dance
Round of the Princesses (Khorovod)
Infernal Dance of King Kaschei
Berceuse
Finale
The first of Igor Stravinsky s three famous early ballets, The Firebird is the most traditional and
derivative. While The Firebird, similar to Petrushka and The Rite Of Spring, is unquestionably one of
Stravinsky s masterpieces, if considered strictly historically it can be, with some justice, viewed as
warmed over Rimsky Korsakov (the device of contrasting a folkloristic, diatonic style representing
human characters, with a highly chromatic style reserved for depicting the supernatural had its most

Although it was The Firebird ballet, first performed in Paris in 1910, that began his international
career, and although the orchestral suite has remained his most popular work, he was still a little
embarrassed by it years afterwards. The original wastefully large instrumentation he revised in 1919,
when he wrote a second suite, and again in 1945, when he put together a third and longer orchestral
suite. Such critical actions, he said, are stronger than words.
The scenario for Firebird, as adapted by Fokine, follows an old Russian folk tale. The Tsarevitch,
Prince Ivan, is hunting the elusive Firebird, and during the night he wanders into a magical garden
(Introduction). As he walks through the garden he sees the Firebird, a beautiful bird with dazzling
plumage (The Firebird and her Dance and Firebird Variation). Ivan captures the Firebird, but agrees to
let her go free, after taking one of her feathers as a trophy. At sunrise, Ivan meets thirteen princesses,
who have come into the garden to dance and play with golden apples from the garden s orchard
(Round Dance of the Princesses). Ivan learns that the garden belongs to the evil magician king
Kaschei, who has enchanted the princesses, and who has the ability to turn his enemies into stone. The
prince, now in love with one of the princesses, vows to enter Kaschei s castle and free his beloved. As

The Effect of Standard of Beauty toward Pecola in The...
The Bluest Eye is taking place around 1940 in Lorain, Ohio. During the year of 1940, discrimination,
especially toward African Americans, was still a serious problem. People believe that whiteness is the
standard of beauty. The main character, Pecola, who was a nine years old African American, was
influenced by how people view beauty. Pecola suffered and felt that she is inferior to others. Pecola
believed that having a pair of blue eyes would made people think she is pretty, and would be the key
resolving all the problems. What is beautiful? How do people define beauty? People view differently.
Usually, we judge people, first, from his or her appearance then to their inherence. It is a common fact
that appearance has an indirect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This concept affected Pecola how she views beauty. Pecola evaluated herself ugly, and wanted to have
a pair of blue eyes so that every problem could be solved. Pecola was an African American and lived
in a family with problems. Her father ran away because of crime, her brother left because of their
fighting parents, and was discriminated simply because she has dark skin. Pecola is a passive person.
She is almost destroyed because of her violent father, Cholly Breedlove, who raped her own daughter
after drinking. Because of this, Pecola kept thinking about her goal to reach the standard of beauty.
However, she was never satisfied with it. Pecola believed once she become beautiful, fighting between
her parents would no longer happen, her brother would come back, and her father would no long be a
rapist. No problem would exist anymore. Besides the inherent self confident issue, the outside voice
from community is also affecting Pecola s view. For example, in the accident when Pecola went into
Junior s house, Junior killed the cat and impute to Pecola. His mother, Geraldine, saw Pecola was
holding the dead cat. Without any thought and didn t even ask for the truth, Geraldine simply called
Pecola a nastylittle black bitch. This event, again, reinforces Pecola s view of what beauty means.
Tonis Morrison slightly defined the value of beauty and demonstrated Pecola s desire to be

Gender Roles In Twelfth Night
Shakespeare s romantic comedy Twelfth Night arguably poses questions about sexuality and the social
constraints of gender. In his 1996 film adaptation of the play Trevor Nunn takes these queries and
highlights them for his audience. Nunn s opening, pictures Viola and Sebastian both dressed in harem
costumes as entertainment for the others on board the ship. Panning around the room we see Antonio
watching the twins intensely. Antonio shows very little emotion in this scene, nor any recognition of
which twin is which. This opening seems to bring the similarity of the twins to the forefront of the
audience s attention, as well as perhaps their androgyny, as not only is Sebastian dressed up as a
harem girl, but underneath this first costume Viola is wearing a fake moustache disguising her as a
male. The opening of the original play presents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This confusion may be admitted by the audience due to their similarity in appearance both dressed as
men and their manner being so alike. Nunn reminds his audience of the likeness which he portrayed in
his opening scene, when Sebastian meets Feste and performs the same trick with the coin that Cesario
performed at the beginning of the film. Sebastian s obvious confusion with the situation is seemingly
ignored by Olivia in her excitement when Sebastian says that he will be ruled by [her]. Nunn runs this
scene straight into the scenes Viola being accused by Antonio of being ungrateful and by Olivia and
Orsino for being dishonest, the reunion of Sebastian and Viola and finally Orsino s proposal to Viola,
this continuous sequence of events highlights its importance in clearing up the events and meaning of
the film. In the original play, however Shakespeare breaks up these events with the prank played on
Malvolio, this moves the full attention of the audience away from these points and changes the
meaning of the play to be more about trickery and

revolution of information technology and one of them is cloud gaming. The study explains what cloud
gaming is, and look at some detail of its overview and general architecture. After that , ways to assess
and minimize the latency issues arising in the on demand gaming environment are studied. Through a
large scale measurement study that the current cloud computing infrastructure is unable to meet the
strict latency requirements necessary for acceptable game play for many end users, thus limiting the
number of potential users for an on demand gaming service is studied. Further our study investigates
the impact of augmenting the current cloud infrastructure with servers located near the end users, such
as those found in content distribution networks, and show that the user coverage significantly
increases even with the addition of only a small number of servers. Finally, the paper concludes that

When performing a five forces model for the snack food industry, I first looked at competition from
rival sellers as I felt that this was the strongest threat for manufacturers. Rival sellers can easily try to
produce a new line of products, mimic a competitor s product, and it s difficult to differentiate a snack

the crisis that low income families face in finding and maintaining affordable housing. Desmond
explains the situation like rising housing cost, a shortfall of federal housing assistance, and falling
incomes among the poor. Mostly, African American poor single parent with children face a high risk
of eviction. The poor living is something that no one will like to leave, but the conditions of your
environment make it so. Poor living leads you into places you would not like to go and keep you in
places you do not want. According to Social Science and Medicine Journal titled Health related
Effects of Welfare to Work Policies, Welfare to work program is a program that is established to help
the poor and needy get out of poor leaving circumstances, which may lead to better health regarding
improved income, good nutrition, and reduced stress. In my opinion, welfare to work rather causes
harm than good since this makes them remain poor and stably housed. (Ayala Rodríguez, 2013)
In the book evicted, the prevalence of eviction, scarcity of good jobs, rise in unemployment, declined
of employment and payment of wages instead of salaries lead to stable housing for Milwaukee
residents who are mostly black. Also, half of Milwaukee black population were manufacturing
company workers. The welfare to work policy at that time was that if you want a welfare check you

Cultural Factors In Canada
Canada is considered one of the greatest countries to live in according to the World Happiness Report
2015. This is represented through the quality of life of the people, the economic development, the
landforms, and many more factors. Since Canada is multicultural it has many influences from many
countries, mainly America, that it is difficult to show the distinct culture of Canada as a country.
Americanism not only affected Canada, but also many other smaller countries since America own
most of the multi national corporations such as McDonald s. Some factors that make Canada a distinct
country are bilingualism, the Aboriginal people, and its symbols that represents Canada.

This means Canada accepts many immigrants from different parts of the world. These people come to
Canada with different languages, cultures, motivations, and other backgrounds. Some even establish
their own country s restaurant or something related to their background. As many people of the same
background comes to Canada, there are many events related to them and Canada shows importance to
those events. For example, Chinese people are one of the largest population. In Canada, people
celebrate the Chinese new year in school, there is Chinatown, people respect the fact that Chinese are
allow to bring traditional food to school, and many more. This diverse population in Canada makes
people interested into different cultures. Their common knowledge of other country s products, events
and many more information will develop according to their relationship with one another. For
example, most Canadians would recognize Sushi as a japanese food or it contains seaweed. This is
because of the knowledge learned from one another through news, communication, and the
relationship with one another. Multiculturalism excludes racism and lack of human rights. As more
immigrants come to Canada there will be more cultures which is an advantage and also a disadvantage
to Canada because it overlaps Canada s true culture to the fact that many people in Canada does not
know what is the actual Canadian culture. Most of all, Americanism has affected not only Canada but
many other countries as well. This is due to more business and trade since America owns most of the
multi national corporations. People believe that the American culture and the Canadian culture has no
differences, these people are called the Continentalists. Canada has many branches of American
companies such as McDonalds , Starbucks, Wendy s, and many more other companies. On the other
hand, the Nationalists thinks that Canada itself has it own distinct culture and

Aldi And Trader Joe s
In the St. Louis metropolitan region there is a wide variety of grocery retailers, from which consumers
purchase their groceries. With many grocery stores spread throughout the regional area offering good
merchandise and competitive prices there are two chains that are frequented, Aldi s and Trader Joe s.
Both of these companies share the same parent company, Albrecht Brothers, and have stores
nationwide. Both Aldi and Trader Joe s are owned by one company; however, they share
commonalities and differences.
I first started shopping at Aldi with my mom when I was a little girl. I didn t know it at the time, but it
was definitely a good time to start learning how far a dollar would actually stretch. Of all the shoppers
in the store there were other children with their parents, teenie boppers, Gen Xers, Baby Boomers, on
up to the Elderly Generation. Aldi knows no color, creed, or class distinction associated with
ethnicities, income levels, religions, or race, therefore all are welcome to shop.
Aldi is known as the stock up store. As I walked into my local all the store I noticed that all of the
grocery carts were kept outside and required a quarter deposit, which is returned to the patron after
they return the cart. At the entrance of the store I noticed a stand that housed the weekly sale ad and
insert of all their special buys. Looking around all of the shelving was of a warehouse format, which
only stood about five feet tall making it accessible for many customers to

The Effect of Fossil Fuels on Biodiversity Alternative Energy Resources Fossil fuels are hydrocarbon
deposits derived from the remains of ancient plants and animals under enormous amounts of heat and
pressure. Oil, or petroleum, is one of the most common fossil fuels utilized by people all over the
world on a daily basis. Crude oil is a smelly, yellow black, viscous liquid composed of mostly
nitrogen, oxygen, and sulfur, which is found in underground reservoirs. Oil is nonrenewable which
means once it s extracted from the earth, it takes thousands of years to replace. It has been an abundant

Although oil may have its positives and negatives, solar power does also. Some by products of oil
include releasing carbon dioxide (which is the main cause of global warming), carbon monoxide
(which is a colorless, odorless gas which is highly toxic to humans), and sulfur dioxide (which is the
leading cause of acid rain). Moreover, nitrogen oxides, lead, and other toxics are also emitted which
can lead to ground level ozone. Living under all of these conditions can give people chronic
bronchitis, asthma, lung and heart diseases, and respiratory illnesses. Additionally, drilling for oil can
disturb land and ocean habitats; oil spills can damage or even destroy whole ecosystems. Leaks of
gasoline on land or in water always ends up in the ocean and end up killing life because no organism
can adapt to so much oil and harmful gas in the environment. This also shows extreme cases of air and
water pollution due to the daily use of petroleum products ( Oil (petroleum), n.d.). On the other hand,
solar energy may be a renewable source of energy; however, the manufacture of PV systems uses
various toxic chemicals such as arsenic, cadmium, and gallium (Langwith, ed., 2009). On the contrary,
when compared to oil, a very small percentage of those hazardous chemicals are even considered
waste products. Moreover, Solar Thermal Power Plants can damage ecosystems if not managed
properly and they use hazardous fluids to

Animal Farm Napoleon Language
Napoleon s use of language to constantly deceive the other animals is shown throughout the entirety
of the book. Napoleon and the other pigs are much more fluent and knowledgeable with their
vocabulary, allowing them to use emotive and descriptive language to influence the animal s thoughts.
Napoleons right hand man Squealer is adept at fooling the lower class of the farm and Napoleon uses
him to do gain more favour with the animals. Squealer through the use of sophisticated language
makes the other animals actually believe that Napoleon was the hero of the Battle of the Cowshed,
when in reality Napoleon ran away at the very start of the battle. Napoleon uses Squealer expertise in
language to rewrite history to fulfil his desire for power. You do not imagine, I hope, that we pigs are
doing this in a spirit of selfishness and privilege? Many of us actually dislike milk and apples...Milk
and apples contain substances absolutely necessary to the well being of a pig...the whole management
and organization of this farm depend on us . Quotes such as this are used when the pigs are questioned
by the other animals on the farm. Napoleon and Squealer through the use of language is able to
persuade the animals into believing that everything he does is for the good of the farm. How Napoleon
is able to persuade his people with no regret or remorse is proof that his desire for power is the only
thing he truly wants. This language is presented several times throughout the text and is a

Structural and electrical properties of PVAAg nanocomposite films
A .G. El Shamy, and W. Attia and K.M.Abd El Kader *,
Physics Department, Faculty of Science, Suez Canal University, Ismailia, Egypt
ABSTRACT
In the present work, PVAAg nanocomposite films with thickness 0.18 mm, constant silver content
(0.4 wt. %) and with different time of reaction (0.1, 3, 5, 7, 9 h) were prepared by chemical reduction
method. Structure, surface topology, photoluminescence and electrical properties of PVAAg
nanocomposite were studied using x ray diffraction (XRD), electrometer, atomic force microscope
(AFM) and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy were used to characterize the prepared
nanocomposites. X ray patterns showed the existence of Ag nanoparticles within the PVA polymeric
matrix with face centered cube (FCC) phase. It was found that the PL intensity for all samples
increases, while the root mean square (rms) roughness decreases as the time of reaction is increased.
Current voltage characteristics were analyzed to explore carrier transport mechanisms in Ag PVA
nanocomposite and the results showed that there is an improvement in the electrical conductivity of
the PVAAg films and Frank poole emission is the prevailing transport mechanism for all samples.

Machiavelli’S The Prince Was Written During The Early Years
Machiavelli s The Prince was written during the early years of the sixteenth century and was one of
the most profound and controversial pieces of literature to emerge from the Renaissance. The political
treatise was written for Lorenzo de Medici in hopes that he would use the principles taught in it to rule
in Italy. Machiavelli planned for the piece of literature to impress Medici and hopefully persuade him
to give Machiavelli a position within the Italian government, a position that he longed to go back to.
The Medici family ultimately never implemented any of Machiavelli s recommendations, but one
could find examples of famous rulers from the past that exemplify Machiavelli s ideal ruler. The
Prince is a timeless piece of literature ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the very least, one could say that the books influence spread much farther than the author intended
or even expected to. According to Machiavelli, there are four main ways that a prince is able to come
to power. The first way to achieve power is through prowess (personal skill and ability). The second
way is through fortune, which means good luck. The third way is through corruption; examples would
be to attain power through a rebellion, plot, or assassination. The fourth and last way is constitutional,
meaning to attain power by support from either the nobles or commoners. The most important
comparison to be made between these four ways is between prowess and fortune. Attaining a state
through prowess is clearly going to be more difficult than profiting from sheer good fortune, however;
a prince that is blessed with prowess is more likely to hold a strong foundation on his rule, whereas a
man with fortune is erratic and unpredictable which potentially leads to a prince s overthrow just as it
had to his rise. That being said, preserving a prince s power is far easier when said prince attained
power through his own cleverness. Being that the preservation of power is essential to Machiavelli, he
determines that prowess is the better of the two routes for becoming a prince. Another similarity can
be made amongst the criminal and constitutional methods of attaining control. The main

Emile Durkheim Social Facts Examples
According to Emile Durkheim, a social fact is a manner of acting, thinking and feeling engaged by
individuals because and on condition that other members of the social group are also engaged in the
same thing. He said that social facts exist outside human consciousness because it is external,
objective and inherited. It is not in the mind of the person, it is in the environment. Social facts also
have a coercive power that can have a causal influence. We often realize and be aware of the social
fact if we stay away from them, resist or contradict because we are usually unaware of all the social
facts. Social facts do not necessarily require social institutions or organizations for it to be recognized
as a social fact because there are social facts that are not institutional facts. Social facts cannot be
defined by their universality for it can only be defined in a collective aspect because it is practiced by
the community, creating a collective action, making it social. Lastly, according to him, in a holistic
perspective, social facts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Searle defined brute facts as facts that exist independent of us. They are objects that are independent
of human environment. Example would be mountains, rivers, pebbles, etc. Institutional facts however
are facts that are greatly dependent on human environment or institutions for its existence. Example of
this is the government. We constantly recognize the importance and purpose of the government
because of its function. With out human institutions, the government will just be a system. Even the
thought of it of being a system is highly dependent on us. Aside from the brute and institutional facts,
Searle made another distinction in his article, the regulative and the constitutive rules. Regulative rules
regulate existing activities while constitutive rules constitute a certain thing and are responsible for the
creation of a certain

Little Miss Sunshine Analysis
Little Miss Sunshine Essay
Maia Falkner
Little Miss Sunshine , is a film directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris. This film is about a girl
named Olive (played by Abigail Breslin) and her family, on their physical and emotional journey to a
beauty pageant in California. In the film Little Miss Sunshine the important settings that helped me
understand an idea was, backstage the beauty pageant, onstage the beauty pageant and a contrasting
scene on the wharf. These three scenes helped me understand the idea of society s unrealistic false
standards and the intense judgement of those that fall beneath these standards. The settings backstage
and on stage the beauty pageant portray the idea that in order to obtain beauty , extreme lengths must
be taken. In this setting young girls are stripped of their identity and objectified. The falseness of the
makeup and spray tan automatically creates an air of self doubt and pressure to reach this unreachable
perception of beauty . The setting on the wharf contrasts with the falseness of the pageant and exposes
the idea that judgement is all throughout life and somewhat inescapable, that essentially life is one big
beauty contest.
The first setting that portrays the idea of society s unrealistic standards is backstage at the Little Miss
Sunshine beauty pageant. This setting portrays this idea by showing us an environment in which the
falseness is almost overbearing. The hotel in which the pageant takes place is filled with young girls
being pampered by their mothers, spray tan, absurd amounts of makeup and over the top costumes.
These all represent this terribly false perception of beauty and objectify these young girls. A
downward, mid shot of a girl getting her legs spray tanned by her mother describes the distorted
reality of this situation. The girl s face is out of the shot which is objectifying her and taking away her
the identity. This is followed by a wide shot of Olive and Sheryl walking through the room showing
products and clothes. In this shot, we see a huge contrast between the materialistic setting and the
naturalness of Sheryl and Olive with their ordinary clothes, natural hair, and pale skin. The mise en
scene of the hotel lobby reinforces the

The Effects Of Video Games On The World
As any child whose dream it was to play video games as their future career, most parents would say
that, playing games won t pay the bills or put food on the table. Instead of having dreams of playing
video games for the rest of their lives, they should aspire to become a scientist, a teacher, some kind of
engineer, or the all time favorite a doctor, the only people who make money off video games are the
lucky ones who can make them not just play them. But how much of this statement is true? If only
these parents knew that there are people making six figure incomes by playing video games, they
might change their minds before telling their child that their dream is just that and no, it is not only the

Some people would say, well how much could there be to learn? It s just a game, learning how to
press buttons? Absolutely not, character data, frame data, match up data, character combinations,
player data, team data, and in most cases the applied thought process of; what could happen next and
how to deal with it. In cases where there are multiple characters within a game s roster, a player does
not only have to know the character they are playing but every other character in the game as well, for
cases such as a fighting game, in this case Street Fighter V, there are currently 16 characters, each
character is unique in their own way with their own move set and frame data and just like any other
lesson that would be learned in school, a player must remember as much as they can or they can lose
out on a lot of opportunities. If 16 characters isn t enough, the previous version of the game had 44
characters and if the game genre is changed to something such as League of Legends, there are 129
characters to choose from, not only that but the amount of players changed from a one versus one
setting to five versus five, meaning instead of applying data on a possible one versus anyone from 16
or 44 different characters to a forming a team with five characters from a roster of 129, to combat
another team of five from the same roster of 129 excluding the characters already picked. How

Age Related Visual Impairment Essay
Understanding the limitations of vision in the elderly has been overlooked until recently. We have
learned that approximately 1.8 million non institutionalized elderly reported difficulties with basic
activities such as bathing, dressing, and walking due to vision impairment (Brawley and Noell
Waggoner, 2003). In this essay I will discuss several aspects of the relationship between saturation of
color and age related visual impairment. Additionally, I will present a correlation between sleep and
health, and how it is directly related to lighting conditions.
Visual Changes and Color Problems
According to the article, Lighting: Partner in quality care environments by Brawley and Noell
Waggoner (2008), the average person starts noticing visual changes around the age of 40, and as we
age, our vision continues to decline. Vision loss cannot be corrected. However, we use tools such as
glasses or contact lenses to help with the visual changes. There are an estimated 92 percent of people
in their 70 s that wear glasses (Desai, Pratt, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

lifestyle. Clinical research has shown that bright, or white light in the morning improves nighttime

Poetic Analysis Of The Weary Blues By Langston Hughes
Poetic Analysis of The Weary Blues by Langston Hughes Langston Hughes was truly able to make a
name for himself through the reaction he gained from creating the revolutionary collection of poems
The Weary Blues in 1926 where this poem with the same title can be found. During this time, the
world was in turmoil and Hughes had just immersed himself in the Harlem renaissance scene. All the
rules were changing around him so, why not in poems too. He decided to take an entirely new
approach to poetry by breaking standard rules of poems and adopting the jazz and urban blues rules
which were more like a recommendation of rules rather than graved in stone. Hughes had a basic
rhythm and varied it to fit the words or change the mood of his poems. Sometimes he spelled words to
match the way that real people talk. It was refreshing compared to the stuffy, rigid poetry that had
been seen before, written in free verse with an irregular rhyme scheme, mimicking the natural patterns
of speech and music.
In the opening two lines Hughes decided to use a tactic that left the reader in the dark, guessing what
he is talking about. The only element one can decipher is that he is talking about music by the
terminology being used; words such as syncopated tune // croon , the long O sounds of droning and
drowsy which mimic yawning. The sense of music can also be observed by the ever present varying
rhythm, a rocking back and forth feeling replicating the flow of a gentle blues.

The Themes Of Kamala Das

Her early life was one that had lot of ups and downs. All that was gently reflected in her works much.

My Story was banned at most homes, and better than average men asked their ladies society not to

by numerous ladies, with a dynamite free for all, and enthusiastically anticipated every week. The

  • 2. Kreidezeitudist Movement Essay The fifth, and one of the largest and most well known extinctions in Earths history was the Cretaceous period, where many species, including the dinosaurs, pterosaurs, and large marine reptiles, disappeared. This period was widely known as the K T period, K being the traditional abbreviation for the Cretaceous Period derived from the German name Kreidezeit, and T being the abbreviation for the Tertiary Period (a historical term for the period of time now covered by the Paleogene and Neogene periods). It was a relatively warm climate and had high global sea levels. The oceans and seas were populated with now extinct marine reptiles, ammonites and rudists, and the land by dinosaurs. At the same time, new groups of mammals and birds as well as flowering plants appeared. The early part of the Cretaceous showed a cooling trend that had been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because there were no known fossil non avian dinosaur fossils in rocks younger than the K T boundary, scientists have concluded that non avian dinosaurs became extinct immediately before, or during the event. It is possible that small dinosaurs (other than birds) did survive, but they would have been deprived of food as both herbivorous dinosaurs would have found plant material scarce, and carnivores would have quickly found prey to be in short supply. Ectothermic (cold blooded) crocodiles have very limited needs for food (they can survive several months without eating) while endothermic (warm blooded) animals of similar size need much more food in order to sustain their faster metabolism. Therefore, under the circumstances of food chain disruption previously mentioned, non avian dinosaurs died while some crocodiles survived. The survival of other endothermic animals, such as some birds and mammals, could be due, among other reasons, to their smaller needs for food, related to their small size at the extinction ... • 3. Essay On The Murderers I was gathering a cluster of pearls on the beach when hazy mist cleared over the azure sea and a gargantuan silhouette emerged before my very eyes, a dragon! On this dragon were fierce looking warriors with eyes of solid hatred. I went through what I had just seen for a brief moment and then charged into the monastery as if I d been fired by a catapult, with a glance back to make sure I wasn t making it up. DRAGON! is what I repeatedly screamed, I think half of our little population lost any ability to hear in that moment. But it was true, no lie, we were under attack. Genuinely terrified for my life, I sprinted straight through into the dungeons. After passing many criminals (murderers, more murderers, even more murderers and a toilet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He had a threatening look on his tattooed face with a long, blond beard, tied in a plait. Power seemed to radiate from his hammer as he swung it towards my head to crush it to breadcrumbs. And I was going to let it happen, until Sid shoved me out of the way and sense overtook fear as the leader of my confused brain, along with bravery and the will to fight. The hammer missed and demolished the wall behind my position as of two seconds ago. I backed into the wall, or what was left of it, and I took a stumble... I gracefully fell, screaming my head off, and I thought I was done for. However, unlike most people here, I can swim. In one movement, I tried to kick off my footwear only to find out that I was barefoot. I soared through the air as if an angel and beautifully landed the perfect (and also painful) belly flop. I saw on the horizon the dragon, so madness took over and I shot off at a wonderful one mph. As I got closer, I realised that Sid was right. This was no dragon, it was a huge viking longship! I clambered aboard and started to sail off, however, I thought that this was selfish and started to turn round to rescue my friends. But as I turned round I saw something that made me look away in disgust. A marauder threw his axe and it sailed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay about Sculptures in James Baldwin s If Beale Street... In Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave, Written by Himself, Douglass describes his overseer as a man of the most inflexible firmness and stone like coolness (Andrews 181). He adds that his mistress s tender heart became stone (Andrews 188). When he first tries to free himself from such people, Douglass ends up all alone, within the walls of a stone prison (Andrews 208). Throughout these references, the image of stone is repeatedly linked with the stonehearted and dramatic Caucasian oppression of African Americans. James Baldwin also includes images of stone and wood in his novel, If Beale Street Could Talk. Stone and wood are often mentioned together and are used for a joint purpose as Fonny, the ... Although Fonny defends Tish from an attacker at a vegetable stand, Officer Bell says, We re going to take you down, boy, for assault and battery (Baldwin 149). This is improper treatment because the officer tries to arrest Fonny despite Tish s defense of his actions, and he repeatedly refers to Fonny as boy even after Tish points out that [h]e s not a boy (Baldwin 149). When the white Italian woman, who owns the vegetable stand, also defends Fonny s actions, the officer decides not to arrest him; however, as a result of the officer s metaphorical rape and taunting parting remarks, Fonny experiences a metaphorical stone imprisonment. [W]ith a dreadful quietness he tells Tish, Don t ever try to protect me again (Baldwin 151). His defenses are up, and he presents a stony exterior to his girlfriend; he makes her cry although he s tormented and he knows, hadn t been for [her], [his] brains might be spattered all over that precinct basement (Baldwin 153). • 5. The Impact Of Technology In Airport Security Sixteen years and billions of dollars invested in the growth of aviation security after the terrorist attacks on the Pentagon and the World Trade Center, threats to airport security continuously progress as the United States aviation security encounters numerous changes. Since the September 11th attacks, the Transportation Security Administration, also known as the TSA, initiated their plan to ensure the safety of nearly 2 million air passengers at approximately 440 airports nationwide. (Carraway) Although the TSA implemented new training procedures, the aviation screeners fail to apply their skills effective during searches and checkpoints. In the general public, many claim that technological screening procedures will be more effective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is not logical to invest a significant amount of federal funds into airline security employment if there is a large discrepancy between their current performances and expected results. However, technology utilizes a significantly less amount of funding, but continues to perform its tasks. The Trump administration plans to eliminate three airport security programs that were implemented after the 9/11 terrorist attack: Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response program that conduct random sweeps through airports and other modes of transportation, Behavior Detection Officer program that identifies potentially high risk individuals exhibiting behavior indicative of excessiveness then re routes them for additional screening, and the grant program to support local police at airports, specifically, likely target cities. (Halsey) These plans indicate that the Trump administration believes that the termination of these programs will increase the budget for the Department of Homeland Security, but does not reduce the number of TSA officers at checkpoints. There is also more funding for the government to invest in other areas to improve the security for the general public. There is also a current decline in airport staffing. In this report, the TSA admits that TSO staffing levels fell from 47,147 full time employees to 42,525 between 2013 and 2016; concurrent passenger volume rose 15 percent in this period, while the TSA only hired 373 workers to ... Departures Movie Analysis In the movie, Departures, the burial ritual is drastically different from the burial rituals here in the U.S. In the Japanese culture, more is done to preserve the body. For example, in part 2 of the movie there is a scene where Mr. Sasaki is embalming a woman s body. The woman s body was laid on a mat with several sheets on top of her and her family and friends kneeling on the floor to watch the process. Mr. Sasaki starts out by removing the cloth on the woman s face and cleaning her body with a sanitary wipe. He then wraps her body in traditional Japanese clothing and folds her hands together. After, he applies makeup to her skin and her favorite lipstick in order to restore her to her original beauty. Mr. Sasaki does the all with great ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Troilus And Cressida In The Odyssey William Shakespeare s play Troilus and Cressida is a play covering the events leading up the mythic Odyssey. Much like many modern works, as well as Shakespeare s own, the story plays host to a love story between two characters, the titular, Troilus and Cressida. The pair are both Trojans, each from noble houses; Troilus, son to Prima the king of Troy, and Cressida, daughter to Calchas a priest within the city. The love affair betwixt the pair is interesting to say the least, as it appears early on in the text to be one sided. In ACT I Scene 2, Cressida is introduced and speaks with her uncle, Pandarus. Here Cressida talks with Pandarus and seems to think little of Troilus, comparing him disfavorably to his elder brother Hector, O Jupiter, there s no comparison! • 8. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Phased Effort Distribution 3.2.1 Phased effort distribution Reasonable resources allocation to software phases is a vital factor for the success of software projects‎ [52].Effort distribution to phases is the key to a more efficient resource allocation. This approach is proposed to estimate the effort of migrated services. The effort is estimated for different project phases. The service s cost often varies depending on the migration strategy used; this is mainly because each migration strategy has its own cost factors. In this approach, the cost factors of SOA are extracted from previous literatures .These cost factors are distributed among SOA project phases. Each cost factor is given a weight for each migration strategy. These weights of different factors are grouped by project phase. All the weights of all factors are aggregated per migration strategy. The relative effort ratio for each phase is calculated by dividing the total weights of the phase factors to the total weight of the migration strategy The whole process is summarized in Figure 12. • 9. College Athletes And Ncaa Violations Student athletes face a major problem that the NCAA holds them accountable. If any student athlete commits what is held as an NCAA violation they are forced to miss playing time or other consequences as well. NCAA violations have become a chronic problem in collegiate sports. When students violate the NCAA rules it can jeopardize their future career in whatever sport they are playing. Some of the rules don t even make sense they are just useless. These rules need to be dealt with in order for the students to just be able to go along with their lives. Current Research What exactly are NCAA violations? NCAA violations are what are enforced if any student athlete or even a coach commits a violation of the NCAA rules. The article College Athletes and NCAA Violations does a good job at summing up what exactly NCAA violations are. Jason Winfree, states that minimal violations happen all the time, but substantial violations almost are never committed (Winfree 2012). Stating that small violations shows that student athletes will be punished for some of the smallest things possible. Jason also includes that players will violate rules if it doesn t violate what they believe (Winfree 2012) so if a student believes that the need for whatever violation they will be committing will be worth the time to commit than they will do it anyway. The article argues that the NCAA wants these rules in place to make sure that the students athletes sees themselves as students and not as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. The Psychosocial Theory Of Play During The Life Stages Of... My report paper is based upon Erikson s psychosocial approach in the dimension of play during the life stages of infancy and early school age. Psychosocial approach interested me the most because it involves every stage of development from infancy to death in which there is a psychosocial crisis that the person has to overcome to successfully move to the next stage of development. These psychosocial crises are viewed as tension which are a normal experience for each individual because a person s competencies and the demands that are place upon them by society are not the same. Erikson s view of play interested me more than Piaget and Vygotsky s which is why I chose to focus on the psychosocial theory of play. According to Erikson, The play often not only represented the problem but also offers a solution so that children experience some new sense of resolution and a reduction in the tension associated with the conflict (Newman Newman, 2012, p. 214). Psychosocial is a combination of interactions among biological, psychological, and societal processes which allows us to understand that this approach has a multi disciplinary view. When a person has a positive resolution to each crisis it helps the person become able to be successful in the following stages which is why it is so important to be able to adapt. The way a person handles their life experiences also influences how the direction of development occurs as well as the biological and societal aspects. These ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

John The Ripper In this article, we ll look at how to grab the password hashes from a Linux system and crack the hashes using probably the most widely used password cracking tool out there, John the Ripper. Let s boot up BackTrack and get hacking! Where Linux Passwords Are Stored Linux passwords are stored in the /etc/passwd file in cleartext in older systems and in /etc/shadow file in hash form on newer systems. We should expect that the passwords on anything other than old legacy systems to be stored in /etc/shadow. While The Firebird, similar to Petrushka and The Rite Of Spring, is unquestionably one of Stravinsky s masterpieces, if considered strictly historically it can be, with some justice, viewed as warmed over Rimsky Korsakov (the device of contrasting a folkloristic, diatonic style representing human characters, with a highly chromatic style reserved for depicting the supernatural had its most conspicuous use in Rimsky s ... Although it was The Firebird ballet, first performed in Paris in 1910, that began his international career, and although the orchestral suite has remained his most popular work, he was still a little embarrassed by it years afterwards. The original wastefully large instrumentation he revised in 1919, when he wrote a second suite, and again in 1945, when he put together a third and longer orchestral suite. Such critical actions, he said, are stronger than words. The scenario for Firebird, as adapted by Fokine, follows an old Russian folk tale. The Tsarevitch, Prince Ivan, is hunting the elusive Firebird, and during the night he wanders into a magical garden (Introduction). As he walks through the garden he sees the Firebird, a beautiful bird with dazzling plumage (The Firebird and her Dance and Firebird Variation). During the year of 1940, discrimination, especially toward African Americans, was still a serious problem. People believe that whiteness is the standard of beauty. The main character, Pecola, who was a nine years old African American, was influenced by how people view beauty. Pecola suffered and felt that she is inferior to others. Pecola believed that having a pair of blue eyes would made people think she is pretty, and would be the key resolving all the problems. What is beautiful? How do people define beauty? Pecola evaluated herself ugly, and wanted to have a pair of blue eyes so that every problem could be solved. Pecola was an African American and lived in a family with problems. Her father ran away because of crime, her brother left because of their fighting parents, and was discriminated simply because she has dark skin. Pecola is a passive person. She is almost destroyed because of her violent father, Cholly Breedlove, who raped her own daughter after drinking. Because of this, Pecola kept thinking about her goal to reach the standard of beauty. However, she was never satisfied with it. Pecola believed once she become beautiful, fighting between her parents would no longer happen, her brother would come back, and her father would no long be a rapist. No problem would exist anymore. Besides the inherent self confident issue, the outside voice from community is also affecting Pecola s view. For example, in the accident when Pecola went into Junior s house, Junior killed the cat and impute to Pecola. His mother, Geraldine, saw Pecola was holding the dead cat. In his 1996 film adaptation of the play Trevor Nunn takes these queries and highlights them for his audience. Nunn s opening, pictures Viola and Sebastian both dressed in harem costumes as entertainment for the others on board the ship. Panning around the room we see Antonio watching the twins intensely. Antonio shows very little emotion in this scene, nor any recognition of which twin is which. This opening seems to bring the similarity of the twins to the forefront of the audience s attention, as well as perhaps their androgyny, as not only is Sebastian dressed up as a harem girl, but underneath this first costume Viola is wearing a fake moustache disguising her as a male. Structure, surface topology, photoluminescence and electrical properties of PVAAg nanocomposite were studied using x ray diffraction (XRD), electrometer, atomic force microscope (AFM) and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy were used to characterize the prepared nanocomposites. X ray patterns showed the existence of Ag nanoparticles within the PVA polymeric matrix with face centered cube (FCC) phase. It was found that the PL intensity for all samples increases, while the root mean square (rms) roughness decreases as the time of reaction is increased. Current voltage characteristics were analyzed to explore carrier transport mechanisms in Ag PVA nanocomposite and the results showed that there is an improvement in the electrical conductivity of the PVAAg films and Frank poole emission is the prevailing transport mechanism for all samples. Machiavelli planned for the piece of literature to impress Medici and hopefully persuade him to give Machiavelli a position within the Italian government, a position that he longed to go back to. At the very least, one could say that the books influence spread much farther than the author intended or even expected to. According to Machiavelli, there are four main ways that a prince is able to come to power. The first way to achieve power is through prowess (personal skill and ability). The second way is through fortune, which means good luck. The third way is through corruption; examples would be to attain power through a rebellion, plot, or assassination. The fourth and last way is constitutional, meaning to attain power by support from either the nobles or commoners. The most important comparison to be made between these four ways is between prowess and fortune. Attaining a state through prowess is clearly going to be more difficult than profiting from sheer good fortune, however; a prince that is blessed with prowess is more likely to hold a strong foundation on his rule, whereas a man with fortune is erratic and unpredictable which potentially leads to a prince s overthrow just as it had to his rise. That being said, preserving a prince s power is far easier when said prince attained power through his own cleverness. Being that the preservation of power is essential to Machiavelli, he determines that prowess is the better of the two routes for becoming a prince. This film is about a girl named Olive (played by Abigail Breslin) and her family, on their physical and emotional journey to a beauty pageant in California. In the film Little Miss Sunshine the important settings that helped me understand an idea was, backstage the beauty pageant, onstage the beauty pageant and a contrasting scene on the wharf. These three scenes helped me understand the idea of society s unrealistic false standards and the intense judgement of those that fall beneath these standards. The settings backstage and on stage the beauty pageant portray the idea that in order to obtain beauty , extreme lengths must be taken. In this setting young girls are stripped of their identity and objectified. The falseness of the makeup and spray tan automatically creates an air of self doubt and pressure to reach this unreachable perception of beauty . The setting on the wharf contrasts with the falseness of the pageant and exposes the idea that judgement is all throughout life and somewhat inescapable, that essentially life is one big beauty contest. The first setting that portrays the idea of society s unrealistic standards is backstage at the Little Miss Sunshine beauty pageant. This setting portrays this idea by showing us an environment in which the falseness is almost overbearing. The hotel in which the pageant takes place is filled with young girls being pampered by their mothers, spray tan, absurd amounts of makeup and over the top costumes. These all represent this terribly false perception of beauty and objectify these young girls. A downward, mid shot of a girl getting her legs spray tanned by her mother describes the distorted reality of this situation. The girl s face is out of the shot which is objectifying her and taking away her the identity. This is followed by a wide shot of Olive and Sheryl walking through the room showing products and clothes. Poetic Analysis Of The Weary Blues By Langston Hughes Poetic Analysis of The Weary Blues by Langston Hughes Langston Hughes was truly able to make a name for himself through the reaction he gained from creating the revolutionary collection of poems The Weary Blues in 1926 where this poem with the same title can be found. During this time, the world was in turmoil and Hughes had just immersed himself in the Harlem renaissance scene. All the rules were changing around him so, why not in poems too. He decided to take an entirely new approach to poetry by breaking standard rules of poems and adopting the jazz and urban blues rules which were more like a recommendation of rules rather than graved in stone. Hughes had a basic rhythm and varied it to fit the words or change the mood of his poems. Sometimes he spelled words to match the way that real people talk. It was refreshing compared to the stuffy, rigid poetry that had been seen before, written in free verse with an irregular rhyme scheme, mimicking the natural patterns of speech and music. In the opening two lines Hughes decided to use a tactic that left the reader in the dark, guessing what he is talking about. The only element one can decipher is that he is talking about music by the terminology being used; words such as syncopated tune // croon , the long O sounds of droning and drowsy which mimic yawning. The sense of music can also be observed by the ever present varying rhythm, a rocking back and forth feeling replicating the flow of a gentle blues. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
