Rituals Of Nacirema
Culture is very fascinating becasue it entails so many elements. Differences in food, talk, dress,
religious beliefs and even schooling often determine what region you are from in the U.S. much less
then world. The types of rituals that the Nacirema go through are harsh but they still exist as a society.
It is hard to understand how they have managed to exist so long under the burdens with which they
have imposed upon themselves. (Miner, p507). The fascinating thing about this society is that they
have a seemingly possessed fixation with the mouth. It s both admired and despised simutaneously. To
them it is the gateway to both lasting or doomed friendship as well as the riddence or existance of
physical and mental illness.
It definitely sounds like how civilized people see certain apsects of society which includes how the
body is viewed. It doesnt matter what part of the world you reside most dont see themselves as having

Compassion In Thank You, MaAm By Langston Hughes
Compassionate people are geniuses in the art of living, more necessary to the dignity, security, and joy
of humanity than the discoveries of knowledge. Albert Einstein
Everyone has difficulties and tragedies in life, some more than others. Though when people show
compassion, it makes your spirits rise and make your challenges more bearable. In the short story,
Thank you, Ma am by Langston Hughes, Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones, a woman whose purse
has been an attempted target by a boy, shows the theme of compassion with an overflowing amount of
it. The boy, Roger, learns throughout the story that compassion is very important, and his true
personality is revealed by some woman he doesn t even know. At the beginning of Thank you, Ma am,
we see how just how compassionate Mrs. Jones really is. The moment she meets Roger, she tells the
boy to wash his face. Least I can do is wash your face. Are you hungry? This might not seem like a
very compassionate thing to do at first, however, she doesn t even know the boy, yet she has enough
compassion to make sure he is clean. Then, she takes the boy inside of her house! In addition, the boy,
Roger asks, You going to take me to jail? But Mrs. Jones doesn t. Maybe she sees that Roger is really
a good boy inside, so she shows compassion to bring out his true kindness. This makes me think that
he was probably trying to steal because he had to. And when Mrs. Jones asked him if he had anyone at
home, he said, No m. Mrs.

Mathilda af Klint at the Karlberg Palace in Solana, Sweden. Hilma was engaged with nature at an
early age by spending time at her family s farm during the summer, on the island of Adelson in Lake

Eritre My World History Project
I chose the country of Eritrea as my World History project because I read about it in a book a few
years ago. Eritrea is located in Eastern Africa and is surrounded by Sudan to the west, Ethiopia to the
south, and Djibouti to the southeast. Saudi Arabia and Yemen surrounds the country as well, along
with the Red Sea to the north. Eritrea is one of the highest landmasses on the continent of Africa,
heights reaching 2,350 meters (or 700 ft) in the city of Asmara. The mountain, Emba Soira, is the
highest point in Eritrea reaching heihts of 9,880 ft. The lowest point of elevation is in the Kobar Sink
in the Danakil Depression. It is 380 feet below sea level. The major rivers Anseba and Barka flow
north; the Gash and Tekeze flow into Sudan, which is to the west. Fertile soils and lush vegetation
cover the land. The country s average temperature is 60˚ Fahrenheit (16˚ Celsius) and 508 mm (20 in)
of rain falls each year. The elevation of the inland is between 1,800 and 2,100 meters (5,900 and 6,900

The Early Renaissance Art in Florence
The early Renaissance art in Florence focused on an elaborate, Gothic style of painting; very formal
and traditional, yet there was always something that seemed to be lacking. Perspective and depth were
two very important qualities in painting, yet up until the time of young Masaccio, (born Tommaso
Guidi), paintings were beautiful, but seemed to just be art that hung on the wall. In Masaccio s work,
rather than recede in space, the figures seem to come forward (Cole 120). He may not have known it
at the time, but his style of painting would influence many painters well after his death; Donatello,
Michelangelo, and so on. Masaccio may have only painted for a total of 8 years, but during those 8
years he revolutionized not only the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has undergone many repairs, and has been to many places, so it can sometimes be hard to really see
past all of the new and really see what Masaccio created. Yet, really looking past what has been
changed, a viewer can really see Masaccio s talent: Masaccio s perspective design of the vault was
created within the surface geometry. The foreshortened pattern of coffers could be calculated using
simple geometry (Polzer 1). Masaccio was not just an artist, but also used basic math and geometry
skills to really create that realism in his works. This shows that he was also very intellectual as well as
creative, and became part of another era of painting that used skills such as geometry, and not just
creativity, in creating art. The Holy Trinity truly creates the illusion of Christ being crucified right in
that archway, and that the viewers could just walk right in and become a part of the painting. As James
Ackerman says, the magnificent vault arching over the austere figures in Masaccio s fresco [is] an
utterly convincing illusion of architectural form extending into space (Achkerman 171). In this piece,
Masaccio s use of vanishing points and linear perspective draw the spectator s eye to the center of the
painting, right below the

Vladimir Putin And President Putin
President Vladimir Putin, current president of Russia, is currently serving his second term. His first
presidential term was from 2000 2008. He previously served as Prime Minister of Russia from 1999
2000 and again from 2008 2012. Throughout the years, he has a earned a controversial reputation, not
just among the Russian citizens, but to other world leaders as well. President Putin is often criticized
for his handling of human rights and foreign policy issues by other world leaders. To some, he is
considered a dictator that must be stopped. To the Russian citizens, he is fairly popular, having high
and steady approval ratings throughout his role as a leader (Gertz, Bill. Putin Corruption Network
Revealed ). Many Russian experts have believed Putin has abused his power in trying to improve the
Russian economy. He has been suspected to have collected a fortune worth at least an estimated $28
billion from projects like construction during the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics games. He has also
been suspected of holdings in Russian real estate and energy conglomerates, and kickbacks from deals
with associates going all the way back to the late 1990s (Gertz, Bill. Putin Corruption Network
Revealed ). It is obvious that Sochi was more than just a sporting event to Putin and the Kremlin, but
it was a blend of politics and performance. Putin desired to show the world that it was open, but what
he was trying to show was unclear.

The Competitive Market Threat for Fiat
Situation Analysis Threats (10 marks) describe the threats that you have identified and their
implications for your decision from a review of the competitive analysis and the PEST environmental
analysis.
Internal competition to Fiat come from the big Three , Ford, GM, and Chrysler, whilst external
competition comes from makers such as Toyota, Honda, and Hyundai. Since Fiat will also be using
the Alfa Romeo Giulietta model it will also be faced with competition from other manufacturers of
that model that included Nissan, Mazda, Volkswagen, BMW, Audi, and Mercedes . The competition
will rest on factors such as size of vehicle, fuel economy, seating, engine, and price with safety being a
primary factor for many families.
The European market has its own competitors that include vehicle manufacturers such as Audi A3, the
BMW 1 series, Volkswagen Golf, and Mazda 3 . local competition has upped its offerings with
incentives such as % financing for terms of up to 84 months, extended warranties to 120 000km, and
promotional products such as ipods with purchase. Promotion and marketing has also become
aggressive with ventures such as employee pricing events, and seasonal advertising .The Alfa Romeo
brand that Fiat intends to reintroduce to Canadians in 2013 is an upscale division of Fiat that last sold
cars in the Canadian market in 1995. Its Giulietta Spyder and Sprint models are known for their sporty
handling and racing capabilities. These characteristics, however, meet their

Middle School Is Not The Easiest Time
Gnome Good
I don t believe that I will ever be able to forget middle school. For me, middle school was not the
easiest time in my life. I had just moved to a new town and I wasn t the best at making friends. Trying
to form new friendships, while also starting middle school was not an easy task. I had just started the
sixth grade at a new school, with new faces, new classrooms, and a new teacher. I had a typical
schedule for a sixth grader, nothing too difficult. Social Studies, Science, Gym, Math, and my least
favorite, English. Although I enjoy English now, I can t say that I always have. At that point in my life,
English was something that I was not great at and thought I would never be great at. I worked hard in

As a sixth grader, I had what Dweck refers to as a fixed mindset. In her TED Talk The Power of Yet,
Dweck states, if you get a failing grade, you think, I m nothing, I m nowhere . In other words, Dweck
believes that students that do not receive the grade they want, immediately consider themselves
failures. The concept of failure is prominent in an excerpt from On Writing, by Stephen King, a
popular writer from Maine. King states, Now that I was away from the administrative offices of
Lisbon High, I felt able to muster a little honesty. I told Mr. Gould that I didn t know much about
sports . In making this statement, King leads us to believe that he is afraid of failing. Similar to Dweck
s idea of fixed mindset, King presents a fixed mindset towards his ability to write about sports. King is
afraid of failure and is, therefore, presenting a fixed mindset towards his writing capabilities.
Even as an 11 year old in middle school, I struggled with the idea of failing, and I believe that is why I
was so afraid to have my narrative critiqued. I could not accept failure.
Interesting , she said as she read my story. This makes absolutely no sense; you have gone from one
place to another without any explanation as to how your characters ended up there. Laughing, she

teacher.

African American Muslim
For the American Muslim
Several years back, W.E.B. Du Bois coined a term double consciousness. He used to term to describe
the phenomenon of how African Americans lived their lives with two different scripts or how to
behave. The first script, was the one that applied to anyone regardless of race or identity. The second
was unique to blacks, who often felt obliged to view themselves through the lens of the dominant
white group. Du Bois s ideology was absolutely correct. Not just for the African American but also for
most other minority groups as well. Nowadays, I feel like I go through the same phenomenon myself
as an American Muslim.
Although today s American Muslim, unless he or she is racially black, doesn t face double
consciousness through the lens of Du Bois for the African American, we do face the same form of
confusion and struggle to be less of ourselves and more of what needs to be seen. Even when what
most of us are in reality isn t harmful. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There has been an overall increase in the tendency of fellow Americans to look at muslims through the
distorted glasses of Islamophobia a term used to define the dislike of or prejudice against Islam or

Moreover, the status quo for Muslims in America, literally questions American Muslim s loyalty to the
country. It is utterly upsetting to see how so many American Muslims are viewed as simply Muslims.
In an interview a few days earlier Noor Tagouri, a Muslim T.V. Anchor and Journalist was basically
asked about her own loyalty to the country because of her identity as a Muslim. In fact, a member of
the interview was so ready to go against the base of America and fought against giving Syrian

The Mormon Polygamy
INTRODUCTION
When one thinks about marriages or weddings in the United States, Americans may often
reminiscence on two individuals tying the knot. However, in the western United States, and in parts of
Canada, more and more people are practicing polygamy, which is the act of an individual marrying
another person(s), after one already has a spouse. Although the practice is illegal, individuals within
the Fundamental Latter Day Saints Church partake in the activity, as it is a divine part and calling of
their religion. The FLDS is a break off sect off the mainstream Mormon, or Church of Jesus Christ of

about the mainstream Mormon Church, the FLDS, and polygamy. Although the Mormon Church used
to promote polygamy in the 19th century, they do not practice polygamy, at least in this lifetime,
according to Miller. They are two separate entities, and many people get confused by this. I have seen
this from my own personal experiences, when I say that I have family from the state of Utah. Many
people believe that all that there is to do in Utah is have more than one wife. I am not certain on who
needs to make sure that there is a line of difference between the Mormon Church and the Fundamental
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but there needs to be one if the Mormon Church wants
separation from the FLDS

Michael Dwayne Vick was drafted first overall in the 2001 draft by the Atlanta Falcons. Vick brought

Theme Of Expectations In Great Expectations
9. In the novel, things are not often exactly as they seem. Discuss how the theme of expectations is
illustrated in Great Expectations. How are Pip s expectations different from and similar to those of
Estella, Joe Gargery, Magwitch, and Miss Havisham?
The theme of expectations is illustrated in Great Expectations through the characters, especially Pip.
Throughout the book, Pip s attitude depends on his expectations. In the beginning, all Pip wanted was
to be apprenticed to Joe (43), and he was happy with his life, and his social status, calling his job at
the forge a superior position (43). After he visits Satis House, he becomes uncomfortable and
embarrassed of his social class. Pip expects that a higher class person would be better than a lower
class person at everything, and wishes to be a gentleman. Pip starts to become ungrateful and unhappy
with his life. When Pip learns about his benefactor, he is ecstatic, he expects it to be Miss Havisham
showing that he is supposed to be with Estella. In the end, Pip learns that wealth isn t as important as
being around those you love. Pip s expectations are different to Estella s because Pip expects Estella to
have a heart no matter what she says because there could be no such beauty without it (237).
Although, Estella expects Pip to not love her because she didn t want to break his heart, but you would
not be warned (362). Pip s expectations are different from Joe s expectations because Pip expects life
to be perfect as a gentleman, and working at the forge an embarrassment, while Joe expects Pip to
enjoy his time at the forge, and not take an interest in money and wealth. Their expectations are
similar because they both expect to be friends even after the social class difference, but it becomes
awkward for both of them, although Joe is still always there for Pip. Pip s expectations are different
from Magwitch s because Pip expects Miss Havisham to be his benefactor, while Magwitch expects to
own a gentleman. Their expectations are similar because they both expected that being a gentleman
would make their lives easier. Pip s expectations are different from Miss Havisham s because Pip

Analysis Of Through It All By Giselle Mills
The book Through It All is a novel written by a Caribbean author named Giselle Mills. The book is
based on the life of a Caribbean family. The family resides in the Caribbean island of Nevis. The
characters in the book face various situations and events that leave major impacts on their lives. The
novel has a main plot and a sub plot that are both linked to the family. The main plot is that of the
protagonist of the novel, Andreide D Averette. Andreide is a sixteen year old girl who goes to a public
school and is the daughter of Rose Marie D Averette, a psychiatrist and Charles D Averette a
landscaper. She also has two brothers; seventeen year ten year old Omarion and old Marques. The sub
plot however, was that of Andreide s mother Rose Marie. Rose Marie was the matriarch of her family
and a successful psychiatrist and an establishing author. It highlighted Rose Marie s trials and
tribulations as a successful working woman, mother and wife. The novel also highlighted various
occurrences that linked their similarities to the past and the present times or modern era. These
occurrences include but are not limited to the judgement of socio economic status, race and racism and

Heroism And Villains In Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of...
How Reader Positioning Techniques are used to depict Heroism and Villains in the Children s Books;
Matilda and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban .
Introduction
The purpose of this report is to determine how reader positioning such as characterisation and point of
view, can help depict heroes and villains within a text. Children s literature includes a variety of text
such as picture books, stories, novels, poems and magazines that are greatly enjoyed by children. This
is generalised through the appropriate genres aimed for younger readers or the envisioned age range
(Lukens et al 2010, p. 6 8).
The influence of literature techniques such as reader positioning plays a massive influence on how
viewers conceive certain characters within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is due to the overpowering thoughts and feelings of the narrator s broad outlook, narrowing the
experience of the reader. This restriction placed on individuals make it hard to relate and form a bond
with the protagonist, limiting the connection between the narrator and the reader (Papazian. G, 2010).
This can mean pushing certain values or opposing socially dominant ones, depending on the writer
(Stephens 1992, p.3 9). This is attributable to the impersonal and objective point of view, making it
hard for readers to determine what type of person the character is.
Conclusion
J.K Rowling and Roald Dahl both successfully use literary techniques derived from reader
positioning, expressing to readers on how to identify heroes and villains. This is achieved through
point of view and characterisation of the protagonists and the antagonists. Limitations show that this
can indeed be overlooked and in turn can ultimately backfire on the narrator. This leads to the speaker
being incapable of providing personal information about themselves, making it difficult for readers to
describe what kind of individual the narrator is due to the omniscient and objective

Olmec society expanding to the general Latin America. Eventually, the intense affinity of the ancient
Aztecs to their Quetzalcoatl cult practices has led to the historical Spanish colonization. A political

of connection between Tula of Mayans, Teotihuacán, and Xochicalco. Ancient compilations of Toltec
history frequently reveal the role of the priest king in response to the founding of Toltec civilization.
Archeological evidences scrutinizing the identity of Topiltzin fail to conclude whether the person
depicted by Ancient Mesoamerican texts and images is the god or Quetzalcoatl. Historical accounts
suggest that Topiltzin revolutionized Toltec society from nomadic to civilized civilization with
acceptance of Toltec cultural and religious traditions.

What Is The Importance Of Japanese Culture
The world is full of different cultures. It is so interesting to study the different ways people live their
lives. Cultures are so diverse that normal habits done on a regular basis in one culture may be
considered taboo in another culture. This essay will discuss how the Japanese culture differs from my
culture, and it will also examine the importance of studying another culture.
First, I want to cover some of the major differences between the Japanese culture and my own, and
then get to some of the smaller differences. The first major difference is the religion; Buddhism and
Shintoism make up 84% of the Japanese religion. The item that intrigued me was the fact that religion
in Japan is more of a set of rules and rituals to follow now and then. There is not much daily
involvement in religion like there is in America; whether it is Christian, Catholic, or Muslin, each
religion involves prayer and worship to a certain degree on more of daily or weekly basis. Next, the
Japanese food is much different. Most Japanese meals have rice in some form or another and the
Japanese generally eat with chopsticks. When eating at a restaurant there are many differences to
consider. A wet towel is given to a customer when he is first seated at a restaurant to wash his hands.
When sushi is the meal it is acceptable to eat use hands and not chop sticks. When eating noodles, it is
acceptable to make slurping noises. When you are finished with your meal it is not expected that you

Analysis Of A Flower Garden By Li Bai
This poem creates a scene in which the poet, Li Bai is sitting alone under the moonlight as he sips on
his drink and can share his loneliness with no one but the moon and his shadow. By pointing out that
he is at a flower garden with moonlight shined upon him and a pot of wine by his side, the setting of
the poem is rather pleasant and relaxing. The poet, however, appears to be frustrated because he has
no real friends who are there for him. With a quick thought, Li Bai decides to think the moon and his
shadow as his companion and meanwhile starts to sing and dance with them. The fact that neither the
moon nor his shadow is animated does not bother Li Bai as he slowly gets more involved in the
atmosphere he created for himself, or, in his words, it makes us [them] three . From there on, the poet
does not care about what other people think of him anymore and instead starts to live his life the way
that will not leave behind any regrets. In order to achieve such impression and create an image for the
readers, Li Bai incorporates myriad rhetorical devices in the writing of the poem. Out of all techniques
being used, imagery is one that appears throughout the poem. The poem opens up with an image of a
flower garden a which indicates the poet s location and sets the tone for the slight twist in emotion in
next couple of lines of the poem. The poet s mentioning of his loneliness sharply contrasts the setting
in which both wine and flowers are supposed to bring a sense of prosperity and happiness. Moving on,
the fourth and fifth lines express Li Bai s loneliness by creating an image of the faraway moon and his
shadow. The line states that the moon is too far away to enjoy the wine with Li Bai, and his shadow
cannot communicate with or truly comprehend the poet. Li Bai s use of the phrase creeps about my
heels to describe the behavior of his shadow is interesting thoughtful, showing that even though the
shadow is very close to him in distance, Li Bai feels as if all the shadow does is blindly following him.

Young Offenders Program Analysis
Introduction The Ministry of the Third Cross derived from the Young Offenders Program, which was
organized in 1997. The Young Offenders Program was a retreat offered for young, high risk male
felony probationers in Bexar Country Department and Corrections. This program was created for the
probationers rehabilitation plan. Their objective was to decrease recidivism and to rehabilitate the
offender. Today it is recognized as a state program. The Ministry of the Third Cross now offers retreats
for both men and women. These retreats are held on the weekend, where attendees are able to connect
with their inner spirit and the love of Jesus Christ. The retreat is surrounded by a supportive and
community friendly environment that assures attendees receive the best experience as possible. The
three R s , which are reflection, repentance, and renewal, are what attendees focus on during these
retreats. Judges have been known to offer this as an alternative for individuals as a part of their
community service. Then there is a separate program for individuals who have recently been paroled.

About nineteen percent of young people contemplate or attempt suicide each year. So how do these
statistics matter to you? Think about it like this, according to the center for disease control, (CDC),
every 12 minutes, a person will die because of suicide attempt. That is roughly five deaths every hour.
However, you do not hear about suicide like I have so bluntly put it to you. We see suicide on the
news and social media and it is written so positively. When Robin William s died of suicide in 2014
the media started the phrase Genie you are free , but could this quote be potentially glorifying suicide

Bicycle Frame Materials Essay
Frame materials
Some of the materials that are used to make bicycle frames include Steel, Aluminium alloys, Titanium
and Carbon fibre. Below is a brief description of Steel, Aluminium and Titanium in relation to bicycle
frames. Thereafter is a more detailed study and comparison of each of the different properties of a
bicycle frame under the candidate materials. This will provide the basis for choosing the best material
for the job.
Steel Steel is the most ordinarily utilized material as a part of bicycle frame. They are solid, simple to
work and generally low in cost, and heavier than numerous other structural materials. Steel frames are
regularly assembled utilizing different sorts of steel alloys like chromoly. Chromoly is low in density,
solid steel. The can be lasted through years of utilization when it resisted and shaped to remove the
overabundance weight. Chromoly has a good flex.
Aluminium Aluminium has a lower density and lower strength compared with steel alloys. They,
however, possess a better strength to weight ratio, giving them notable weight advantages over steel.
Titanium Titanium consolidates numerous characteristics. It has a high strength and it will not corrode
that easily . The titanium frames can be developed with standard tube sizes if compared to the steel
frame of last time because of the sensible stiffness of the Titanium.
Carbon Fibre Carbon fiber composite is an increasingly popular non metallic material commonly used

Spinoza s Argument Paper
In this paper I will provide a fuller explanation to Spinoza s argument in 1p6 and 1p7 in order to
clarify possible ambiguities that arise in sequence of the argument and demonstrate a fallacy in the
argument. In order to understand the content of Spinoza s argument, however, one needs to understand
his terminology of substance, attributes, and modes, given that it is the basis of his propositions.
Additionally, one needs to pay careful attention to the Axioms and Propositions prior to 1p6c and 1p7
to understand the transition that occurs between these two propositions. With that in mind, Spinoza s
view regarding substance becomes clearer in proposition 1p6c and 1p7, although it provides a
contradiction. PART A: In order to understand the content of the Ethics 1p6c, it is necessary to grasp
Spinoza s definition of substance, attributes, and modes. Spinoza refers to substance as something that
is not interdependent with anything but itself to exist, which does not require a prior conception of
another thing (I.def.3). Moreover, attributes allow the intellect to perceive the unique ... Show more

Furthermore, Spinoza refers to modes/affections as additional properties dependent on the presence of
a substance, for it is not possible to have a property of something if something is nothing. Equally

ascribe substance to any particular thing but God, only once, at the beginning of Ethics I [by] God I
mean an absolutely infinite being; that is substance consisting of infinite attributes... [expressing]
eternal and infinite essence (I def.6). This, in fact, demonstrates Spinoza s approach regarding
substance by not using God as an example of substance in propositions one through seven. With that

It took one to two months for the boats to arrive at camps to take prisoners home; the stronger

all prisoners were rescued before other soldiers. The exact number of prisoners is unknown as the

businesses: The steel, rubber, and glass industries flourished. Construction companies boomed as
highways and garages were built. Oil companies, rapidly losing their kerosene business to the spread

Machiavelli and the Use of Antiquity in The Prince and The Discourses
The Renaissance was a time of classical revival and a turning point from the Middle Ages to the Early
Modern period in the course of history. Ancient texts and artifacts became sources of inspiration for
intellectuals and artists alike, and the desire to emulate or even surpass the achievements of the past
prompted them to study antiquities closely and saw them as models and guidance. People were
consciously distinguishing themselves from the medieval thoughts and using history to make
something new for their own era. In the field of political philosophy there s no exception. Niccolo
Machiavelli is perhaps the most representative and groundbreaking figure of this trend in political
philosophy. With his erudition in ancient literature, histories and political thoughts, Machiavelli draws
various sources from antiquity to critic and response to the political environment of histime. While
one may find seemingly discrepancies in The Prince and The Discourse on the First Ten Books of Tius
Livy, the use of histories as guide to demonstrate or propose ideal rules is apparent in both works. We
should note that synthesizing ancient philosophy or thoughts with contemporary thoughts is nothing
new. Thomas Aquinas, for example, reconciled Aristotelianism and Christianity in his work Summa
Theologica, using ancient antiquity to back up his Christian beliefs. What is so noteworthy in
Machiavelli is his emphasis and

Electrical Hazards And Safety By Kevin Burke
Electrical Hazards and Safety
Kevin Burke
1. INTRODUCTION
Everywhere nowadays there is electricity and devices that rely on electricity. Society is driven by the
need for energy and electricity generating plants now consume two fifths of U.S. energy from all
sources, including about 90% of America s coal and nearly 30% of its natural gas
(http://needtoknow.nas.edu/energy/energy sources/electricity/). The world today would not be nearly
as advanced had it not been for the increased use of electricity. Electricity has so many uses they are
seemingly innumerable, from use in air conditioners to cool people down. To making sure that
individuals can see in everyday life with the use of lighting, the list could go on forever. However with
this massive increase in electricity use there are also very drastic safety precautions that must be
followed to ensure safe use of electrical products. Safety is a huge part of using electricity because
having even a low voltage travel through the human body can kill someone. From a very young age it
is instilled that electricity is not something to play with and that adults should make sure an activity is
safe.
Safety is not only important for humans but also for the infrastructure of the electrical components.
People should ensure that they use surge protector and all of their wires are safe and not stripped. This
will guarantee safety for the products in their homes. It is crucial that anything that has

History of Iron
Iron was discovered in 3400 B.C, Ancient Egypt, inside meteorites. The iron in that time period was
used for tools and jewelry. Around 1200 B.C, we learned how to breakdown iron from compounds.
Used for tools, weapons, house implements, and etc. This marked the beginning of the Iron Age. Then
in 200 B.C we learned how to produce iron on our own. By now iron became essential in
blacksmithing. It also became important in Rome in the early A.D s. It was used in their homes and
wars. But iron mostly had impurities, like carbon and other metals. That was good since those with
impurities were stronger than ones without. In 1786 scientists Gaspard Monge, C. A. Vandermonde,
and Claude Louis Berthollet found an alloy stronger than iron. Steel was a mix of carbon and iron, and
in this age, which can be called the New Iron Age, Iron is the most important metal and mostly used.
But only in the form of steel.
Chemical and Physical Properties of Iron
Iron physical appearance is usually the color of white silver or gray. It can be drawn into a thin wire
and be hammered into sheets. It is also very stretchable and can be shaped into whatever you want.
Iron s melting point is 1,536 C, boiling point is 3,000 C, and is 7.87 g/cm^3. Iron is very active in a
chemical sense. It reacts with a lot of metals. Iron reacts with hot water and steam to make hydrogen.
It also dissolves in many acids.

Preventative controls try to stop threats from trying to use a vulnerability to gain access to the network

would be risk mitigation. Viruses and other malware cannot be avoided or transferred to another
business since our computers and network is here in the business for people to utilize. Viruses are also
not an acceptable risk, the damages from viruses will outweigh the money spent to protect the network

placed on the computers to help prevent viruses infections would be cheaper than money spent on the

The Big Bang Theory And The Revolution Of A New Generation
The Big Bang Theory What exactly is the Big Bang Theory? I know before starting this essay I knew
very little of what it consisted. I figured that the Big Bang Theory had something to with the era of a
new generation. One in which started after the extinction of dinosaurs to be quite honest. As I learn
more about astronomy, this topic struck an interest and technically the big bang theory isn t something
that occurred but rather something that happened. It started the beginning of what we now call the
universe.
When we ask astronomers what the big bang theory entails, it is simplified as the explanation on how
the universe started or began. The universe was not what it currently is today and in order to
understand our universe we have to obviously start from somewhere so why no start to the beginning?
According to astronomers there is little known about how the universe was started but as far as we
know it started with a gravitational singularity. Singularities are believed to exist at the center of black
holes. The singularities then inflated over the next 13.8 billion years to what we see in the sky today. It
s hard to look back in time and see how the universe came about, but astronomers can somewhat
summarize the birth through mathematical theory and models of how the Big bang theory came about.
Although Astronomers weren t able to see how the universe came about, they are able to see an
expansion through a phenomenon known as the cosmic microwave background which is

Technical problems refers to the indicators and the data, information collection, interpretation and
analysis. They are preponderantly difficult problems (Pollanen, 2005; Adcroft and Willis, 2005) and
especially in terms of data quality (Black et al., 2001), the choice of indicators (Black et al., 2001;
Bevan and Hood, 2006; Carvalho et al., 2006), validation (Evans, 2004; Carlin, 2004), reporting
(Pollanen, 2005; Adcroft and Willis, 2005) and usage and interpretation (Neely et al., 1995; Wilcox
and Bourne, 2003). Nevertheless, organisations are focusing on improving the technical problems of
their indicators (Pollitt, 2005). Secondly, systems problems are related to the bigger picture issues, i.e.
integrating performance systems into the original systems (Gianakis, 2002), a lack of strategic view
which encourages short term thinking (Neely et al., 1995), the ambiguity of performance objectives
(Pollanen, 2005), sub optimisation (Neely et al., 1995; Pollitt, 2000; Gianakis, 2002; Adcroft and
Willis, 2005) and the cost of performance management (Train and Williams, 2000; Holzer and Yang,
2004; Pollanen, 2005). The third kind of problem are the significant people issues and their
involvement inside the PM system among inter multiple stakeholders (Black et al., 2001; Wang and
Berman, 2001; Gianakis, 2002; McAdam et al., 2005). These issues can be caused by a

Amelia Earhart
Does anyone actually know what happened to Amelia Earhart? Growing up, Amelia Earhart was
always very outgoing and brave and liked the outdoors. She took an interest in flying at a young age,
but no one knew she would be the first women to fly an airplane. The record setting Amelia Earhart
and her hard life s work ended when she took her last attempted flight around the world.
Amelia Earhart s childhood was full of adventure. She was born on July 24th (Earhart, Amelia) in
Atchison, Kansas. As a child, Amelia was very adventurous and spent her time riding horses and
exploring the outdoors (Stevenson 1). People back then didn t think that girls should do things that
boys were supposed to do and the other way around too. Yet she did many things ... Show more

She set off into the skies with Fred Noonan, an experienced navigator (Buchanan 10), in June 1937 for
her flight around the world (Amelia Earhart). If she made it all the way around the world and back on
this trip, she would be the first women ever to do so, but this was a very tough task that takes a lot of
bravery. For nearly a month, Earhart and Noonan flew from country to country, lofting over oceans,
mountain ranges, deserts, towns, and cities. At every stop, tremendous crowds welcomed them.
(Buchanan 10) This was one of the most exciting things in that time period because nothing like this
had been done before. But it didn t go that smoothly for long. When flying over the Pacific Ocean,
Earhart and Noonan were searching for their next fuel stop. Flying through the rain clouds, Earhart
and Noonan could not find Howland (Buchanan 10) They had to stop soon for fuel or risk going down
into the ocean. She and her plane disappeared somewhere near Howland Island in the Central Pacific
Ocean on July 2nd, 1937 (Earhart, Amelia), in which they got they got the last radio signal from
Earhart and her plane. The world waited with fascination as search teams from the United States Army
and Navy, along with the Japanese navy, converging on the scene. (Amelia Earhart) There are many
theories that people think happened to Amelia Earhart, but no one actually knows when, how, or why
she disappeared/died

The Life Of James Madison Essay
The Life of James Madison
Madison Williams
Central High School
November 9, 2015
3rd Period Abstract In my paper I will state and explain the least known aspects of James Madison.
James Madison contributed to some of the most simple and complex events that have not been
recognized. For his job well done, I am willing to make those aspects known. The Life of James
Madison James Madison, also known as The Father on the Constitution , contributed to quite a few
intellectual events in the United States. Madison was an intelligent man with bright ideas that helped
this country become the one it is today. With all his appearances to debates, committee meetings, and
being elected in conventions, he was able to present us the federal government we have today and
some of our basic rights. James Madison s life and times, before, during, and after presidency is now
becoming more well known and interpreted. James Madison was born on March 16, 1751, in Port
Conway, Virginia, to Colonel James Madison Sr. and Eleanor Rose Conway. Madison and his siblings
grew up into the Christian religion since his family was very religious. James had eleven other siblings
and was the oldest out of them all. All his siblings were outgoing and playful, but James was the most
fragile out of all his siblings due to Epileptoid Hysteria. Epileptiod Hysteria is a sickness that causes
seizures, a fear that affects your mind, and it affects how you think about different situations. Due to

  • 2. Rituals Of Nacirema Culture is very fascinating becasue it entails so many elements. Differences in food, talk, dress, religious beliefs and even schooling often determine what region you are from in the U.S. much less then world. The types of rituals that the Nacirema go through are harsh but they still exist as a society. It is hard to understand how they have managed to exist so long under the burdens with which they have imposed upon themselves. (Miner, p507). The fascinating thing about this society is that they have a seemingly possessed fixation with the mouth. It s both admired and despised simutaneously. • 3. Compassion In Thank You, MaAm By Langston Hughes Compassionate people are geniuses in the art of living, more necessary to the dignity, security, and joy of humanity than the discoveries of knowledge. Albert Einstein Everyone has difficulties and tragedies in life, some more than others. Though when people show compassion, it makes your spirits rise and make your challenges more bearable. In the short story, Thank you, Ma am by Langston Hughes, Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones, a woman whose purse has been an attempted target by a boy, shows the theme of compassion with an overflowing amount of it. The boy, Roger, learns throughout the story that compassion is very important, and his true personality is revealed by some woman he doesn t even know. At the beginning of Thank you, Ma am, we see how just how compassionate Mrs. Jones really is. The moment she meets Roger, she tells the boy to wash his face. Least I can do is wash your face. Are you hungry? This might not seem like a very compassionate thing to do at first, however, she doesn t even know the boy, yet she has enough compassion to make sure he is clean. Then, she takes the boy inside of her house! In addition, the boy, Roger asks, You going to take me to jail? But Mrs. Jones doesn t. Maybe she sees that Roger is really a good boy inside, so she shows compassion to bring out his true kindness. This makes me think that he was probably trying to steal because he had to. The Early Renaissance Art in Florence The early Renaissance art in Florence focused on an elaborate, Gothic style of painting; very formal and traditional, yet there was always something that seemed to be lacking. Perspective and depth were two very important qualities in painting, yet up until the time of young Masaccio, (born Tommaso Guidi), paintings were beautiful, but seemed to just be art that hung on the wall. In Masaccio s work, rather than recede in space, the figures seem to come forward (Cole 120). The foreshortened pattern of coffers could be calculated using simple geometry (Polzer 1). Masaccio was not just an artist, but also used basic math and geometry skills to really create that realism in his works. This shows that he was also very intellectual as well as creative, and became part of another era of painting that used skills such as geometry, and not just creativity, in creating art. Children s literature includes a variety of text such as picture books, stories, novels, poems and magazines that are greatly enjoyed by children. This is due to the overpowering thoughts and feelings of the narrator s broad outlook, narrowing the experience of the reader. This restriction placed on individuals make it hard to relate and form a bond with the protagonist, limiting the connection between the narrator and the reader (Papazian. G, 2010). This can mean pushing certain values or opposing socially dominant ones, depending on the writer (Stephens 1992, p.3 9). This is attributable to the impersonal and objective point of view, making it hard for readers to determine what type of person the character is. Conclusion J.K Rowling and Roald Dahl both successfully use literary techniques derived from reader positioning, expressing to readers on how to identify heroes and villains. This is achieved through point of view and characterisation of the protagonists and the antagonists. Limitations show that this can indeed be overlooked and in turn can ultimately backfire on the narrator. This leads to the speaker being incapable of providing personal information about themselves, making it difficult for readers to describe what kind of individual the narrator is due to the omniscient and objective ... Cultures are so diverse that normal habits done on a regular basis in one culture may be considered taboo in another culture. First, I want to cover some of the major differences between the Japanese culture and my own, and then get to some of the smaller differences. • 20. Analysis Of A Flower Garden By Li Bai This poem creates a scene in which the poet, Li Bai is sitting alone under the moonlight as he sips on his drink and can share his loneliness with no one but the moon and his shadow. By pointing out that he is at a flower garden with moonlight shined upon him and a pot of wine by his side, the setting of the poem is rather pleasant and relaxing. The poet, however, appears to be frustrated because he has no real friends who are there for him. With a quick thought, Li Bai decides to think the moon and his shadow as his companion and meanwhile starts to sing and dance with them. The fact that neither the moon nor his shadow is animated does not bother Li Bai as he slowly gets more involved in the atmosphere he created for himself, or, in his words, it makes us [them] three . From there on, the poet does not care about what other people think of him anymore and instead starts to live his life the way that will not leave behind any regrets. In order to achieve such impression and create an image for the readers, Li Bai incorporates myriad rhetorical devices in the writing of the poem. Out of all techniques being used, imagery is one that appears throughout the poem. The poem opens up with an image of a flower garden a which indicates the poet s location and sets the tone for the slight twist in emotion in next couple of lines of the poem. The poet s mentioning of his loneliness sharply contrasts the setting in which both wine and flowers are supposed to bring a sense of prosperity and happiness. Moving on, the fourth and fifth lines express Li Bai s loneliness by creating an image of the faraway moon and his shadow. The line states that the moon is too far away to enjoy the wine with Li Bai, and his shadow cannot communicate with or truly comprehend the poet. Li Bai s use of the phrase creeps about my heels to describe the behavior of his shadow is interesting thoughtful, showing that even though the shadow is very close to him in distance, Li Bai feels as if all the shadow does is blindly following him. This will provide the basis for choosing the best material for the job. Steel Steel is the most ordinarily utilized material as a part of bicycle frame. They are solid, simple to work and generally low in cost, and heavier than numerous other structural materials. Steel frames are regularly assembled utilizing different sorts of steel alloys like chromoly. Chromoly is low in density, solid steel. The can be lasted through years of utilization when it resisted and shaped to remove the overabundance weight. Chromoly has a good flex. Aluminium Aluminium has a lower density and lower strength compared with steel alloys. They, however, possess a better strength to weight ratio, giving them notable weight advantages over steel. Titanium Titanium consolidates numerous characteristics. It has a high strength and it will not corrode that easily . The titanium frames can be developed with standard tube sizes if compared to the steel frame of last time because of the sensible stiffness of the Titanium. Spinoza s Argument Paper In this paper I will provide a fuller explanation to Spinoza s argument in 1p6 and 1p7 in order to clarify possible ambiguities that arise in sequence of the argument and demonstrate a fallacy in the argument. In order to understand the content of Spinoza s argument, however, one needs to understand his terminology of substance, attributes, and modes, given that it is the basis of his propositions. Additionally, one needs to pay careful attention to the Axioms and Propositions prior to 1p6c and 1p7 to understand the transition that occurs between these two propositions. With that in mind, Spinoza s view regarding substance becomes clearer in proposition 1p6c and 1p7, although it provides a contradiction. PART A: In order to understand the content of the Ethics 1p6c, it is necessary to grasp Spinoza s definition of substance, attributes, and modes. • 30. Machiavelli and the Use of Antiquity in The Prince and The... Machiavelli and the Use of Antiquity in The Prince and The Discourses The Renaissance was a time of classical revival and a turning point from the Middle Ages to the Early Modern period in the course of history. Ancient texts and artifacts became sources of inspiration for intellectuals and artists alike, and the desire to emulate or even surpass the achievements of the past prompted them to study antiquities closely and saw them as models and guidance. People were consciously distinguishing themselves from the medieval thoughts and using history to make something new for their own era. In the field of political philosophy there s no exception. Niccolo Machiavelli is perhaps the most representative and groundbreaking figure of this trend in political philosophy. With his erudition in ancient literature, histories and political thoughts, Machiavelli draws various sources from antiquity to critic and response to the political environment of histime. While one may find seemingly discrepancies in The Prince and The Discourse on the First Ten Books of Tius Livy, the use of histories as guide to demonstrate or propose ideal rules is apparent in both works. The iron in that time period was used for tools and jewelry. Around 1200 B.C, we learned how to breakdown iron from compounds. Used for tools, weapons, house implements, and etc. This marked the beginning of the Iron Age. Then in 200 B.C we learned how to produce iron on our own. By now iron became essential in blacksmithing. It also became important in Rome in the early A.D s. It was used in their homes and wars. But iron mostly had impurities, like carbon and other metals. That was good since those with impurities were stronger than ones without. In 1786 scientists Gaspard Monge, C. A. Vandermonde, and Claude Louis Berthollet found an alloy stronger than iron. Steel was a mix of carbon and iron, and in this age, which can be called the New Iron Age, Iron is the most important metal and mostly used. But only in the form of steel. Chemical and Physical Properties of Iron Iron physical appearance is usually the color of white silver or gray. It can be drawn into a thin wire and be hammered into sheets. I figured that the Big Bang Theory had something to with the era of a new generation. One in which started after the extinction of dinosaurs to be quite honest. As I learn more about astronomy, this topic struck an interest and technically the big bang theory isn t something that occurred but rather something that happened. It started the beginning of what we now call the universe. When we ask astronomers what the big bang theory entails, it is simplified as the explanation on how the universe started or began. The universe was not what it currently is today and in order to understand our universe we have to obviously start from somewhere so why no start to the beginning? According to astronomers there is little known about how the universe was started but as far as we know it started with a gravitational singularity. Singularities are believed to exist at the center of black holes. The singularities then inflated over the next 13.8 billion years to what we see in the sky today. It s hard to look back in time and see how the universe came about, but astronomers can somewhat summarize the birth through mathematical theory and models of how the Big bang theory came about.
