The Case Between The Company Apple And The Fbi
The case between the company Apple and the FBI was caused by tragic event, the FBI needed an
iPhone unlocked from a know shooter of a mass shooting in California. Syed Farook worked as an
environmental health specialist for the San Bernardino County in California. Farook went to a
Christmas party that was hosted by his job, he later shot and killed 14 and injured 22. The probable

Theu.s. Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform And Consumer...
The pros and cons of many macroeconomic policies are frequently debated. In particular, the
Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act that was signed into law in July of 2010
sparked bitter controversy. Appropriately argued by American Banker s Capitol Hill reporter Victoria
Finkle, Dodd Frank is viewed as either a landmark law that reined in the biggest banks or an economy
crippling overreach that burdened small institutions. The Act intends to tighten financial regulation in
the U.S., hoping to prevent the repeat of another financial crisis. Impetus for Dodd Frank stemmed
from the bailout of financial institutions deemed too big to fail and the moral hazard it created. In
2008, intense pressure fell upon some of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mainly, Dodd Frank equipped the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) with Orderly
Liquidation Authority (OLA) provisions, authorizing the FDIC to safely wind down large and
complex financial firms that are failing. The OLA expects to minimize moral hazard and systemic
risk. Another considerable aspect of Dodd Frank is new rules calling for greater transparency in risky
dealings of exotic financial instruments: derivatives. The aim was to take these transactions out of the
shadows and make them visible to regulators and markets. Dodd Frank also paved the way for
monitoring the insurance industry by establishing a Federal Insurance Office in the Treasury.
Altogether, these were useful steps and tools of Dodd Frank. However, Economist Barry Eichengreen
points out that vesting the Fed with additional regulatory power and responsibility for the stability of
the financial system was a political nonstarter. The recently bailed out AIG was using money provided
by the Fed to pay retention bonuses totaling up to $6.4 million to 73 of its leading employees. Aware
of the bonus payments, the Fed claimed to be powerless in preventing them. Later, a darker fact
revealed that AIG was allowed to pay off obligations to Goldman Sachs using Fed bailout funds. The
Fed knew about these transactions, and even instructed AIG lawyers not to divulge to the Securities
and Exchange Commission (SEC) internal memos authorizing said payments to Goldman Sachs.

Biblical Archaeological Of Biblical Archaeology
Biblical archaeology is defined as a sect of archeological studies that refers to the study of lands found
in the Bible and their history (biblicalarchaeology.org). The firsthand goal of Biblical archaeology is
to prove the authority of scripture through providing concrete evidence that the Bible lines up with
accepted geography and history. The Jerusalem Siege Tower shows the accuracy of what was
described as historical events in the Bible. The Pool of Siloam is found in John 9, and proves that the
places that Jesus spoke of while performing miracles really existed, and still do. Finally, the Dead Sea
Scrolls validate the authenticity of the scripture that we read today. Through the analysis of the
excavation of the Jerusalem Siege Tower, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Shanks, 86 87) Two archaeologists, Ronny Reich and Eli Shuckron, were excavating in the area of
the Gidhon Valley, at the outset of the tunnel. While digging in the kings garden, Shuckron noticed
two steps in the ground, and after getting clearance from the Israeli Antiquities Authority, they began
to excavate that area, discovering the true location of the Siloam Pool. (Shanks, 88)
The Pool was then identified to be a trapezoid shape and around 225 long, with steps on the at least
three of the exteriors. Archaeologists were also able to identify that the pool went through two phases,
and that the stone steps were a part of the second phase. In the first phase, the steps were actually
plastered, not stone. They also found coins inside the plaster, which dated back to the assumed first
phase of the pool. The coins were all dated back to the era of the Jewish king, Alexander Jannaeus,
who would be succeeded by Herod the Great. Therefore, archaeologists can conclude that the pool
was developed the late Hasmonean period or early Herodian period. Excavators also found Second
Temple pottery, which had all been finished in the Roman destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD, and
coins from the First Jewish revolt against Rome, which lasted from 66 to 70 AD. With this knowledge,
archaeologists could conclude that the pool was in use until the end of the revolt. The pool eventually
disappeared under

Moira In Handmaid s Novel
Moira is the embodiment of rebellion and individualism. Moira s function in the novel is a role model
for Offred and serves as a part of Offred s conscience. The reader can infer from Offred s monologues
that she, to some extent, wants to be a feminist like Moira. Moira also represents the hope and courage
that other Handmaids wish to have. Moira s key role was to give the reader and the characters in the
book a glimpse of the other end of the spectrum of this dystopia. During their younger years in the
university Moira is introduced as a rebel and nonconformist. She uses crude language and is described
as a ...cunning and dangerous woman (Atwood 131). An example of her characterization is: Lace

Want one? Tosses the package, with great generosity, considering they re mine (56). This attitude
greatly influences Offred subconsciously to take risks and defy the society they now live in. In Offred,
Moira is living almost as a second personality and in a way persuades Offred to be free of conforming
to the society of Gilead. Throughout various sections of the book this is shown. They ve given me a

shows that Offred looks for ways out due to Moira s presence in her past. This is paramount to how
Offred acts in the book. Moira had given hope and courage to the Handmaids during and after her time
at the Red Center. With Moira s escape from the center, it planted the seed of dreams into many
Handmaids there. The mystery of Moira s disappearance

Solaris And Memento Analysis
Elizabeth Loftus is a psychological scientist who discusses memories, specifically false memories, in
her TED Talk How reliable is your memory? Ultimately, Loftus explains that it is possible to not only
have false memories, but it is also possible to feed people misinformation that in return alters one s
memory. This concept of false memories, and more broadly one s remembered past, is evident in a few
films we have studied in class. In both Solaris (Soderbergh) and Memento, improving one s self
knowledge was dependent on dealing with regret and guilt about one s remembered past. Solaris
follows the protagonist, Chris Kelvin, on his journey to the space station with the goal of helping the
scientists with an unspecified experience aboard the station. Shortly after his arrival, Kelvin
experiences the strange experience firsthand when his deceased wife Rheya appears in the middle of
the night. At first, Kelvin believes she is a figment of his imagination, or perhaps a dream, but soon he
discovers she is real. Kelvin quickly decides to rid the station of Rheya by sending her off in a
separate skyrocket; yet, to Kelvin s surprise Rheya materializes again that next night. In contrast, the
second time Rheya emerges, Kelvin decides not to kill her, but rather begins to question her existence.
It is argued that Solaris is able to reconstruct deceased ones from the memories of the scientists aboard
the station. This raises the following question: are the duplicates materializing on the space station real
people? Gordon has an unwavering opinion that these creatures are not human, and thus, should be
eradicated. However, Kelvin has already resurrected his love with the duplicate of Rheya, and believes
he could be happier living a life with her. Surprisingly, it is Rheya that indicates she is not the original
woman Kelvin is remembering, or dreaming about. Instead, she is a reconstruction of Kelvin s
remembered past of her. Kelvin s memories dictate how the duplicate Rheya speaks, moves, listens,
and feels. This is problematic because as Loftus explains, memory can be unreliable. To improve his
own self knowledge Kelvin must deal with the guilt of having hurt Rheya by leaving her and
potentially leading her to

Gothic Literature Children
Why Might Parents Allow Their Children to read Gothic Literature? According to some parents,
Gothic Literature provides a sense of escape for the child and allows the child to relate to their own
real life problems that they may be facing in their own lives. However, when parents allow their
children to read Gothic Literature, they are opening their children s minds up and allowing them to go
into the dark world and face many unknown challenges and experiences, in hopes of overcoming and
conquering their fears that they may have once had. In these Gothic Literatures, there is often a
recurring theme that allows the child to put themselves in that character s place or shoes. In Gothic

It allows the child to grow and become faced with hardships that later on in life, they are able to
overcome and gain a true understanding of life itself. In the Importance of Externalization, Bettelheim
states that fantasy fills the huge gaps in a child s understanding which are due to the immaturity of his
thinking and his lack of pertinent information (61). Gothic Literature teaches children valuable, moral
lessons that they are able to take with them throughout their life to help them gain overall maturity.
Children learn that in order to gain maturity, they must work hard in order to achieve their goals and
dreams in life. Allowing children to read these Gothic themed novels, will also help in aiding the child
to develop both more mentally and psychologically through the dark themes and unknown that it
portrays. Bettelheim argues that if a parent shadows his/her child from these mature ways, then the
child suffers from an arrest of development ( Transcending Infancy, 125). Gothic Literature is valued
as a needed substance for parents to teach and allow their children to grow into mature, young adults.
Bettelheim states that This is what maturity ought to consist of: that one rules oneself wisely, and as a
consequence lives happily ( Transcending Infancy, 128). The child learns that they must face struggles

How Does The Poison Tree Rhyme Scheme
The poem is metaphorical in nature. The title poison tree is a metaphor used to describe anger which is
a harmful emotion, likened to poison. The apple fruit, borne from the watered poison tree, depicts
revenge. Once the poison tree was all grown it bore the apple fruit which was an evil plan of
vengeance. The writer also uses a regular rhyme scheme in the poem to create rhythm. The rhyme
scheme is such that the last words in every two lines in each stanza sound the same. For example, in
the first stanza, the words friend and end , foe and grow . In the second stanza: fears and tears , smiles
and wiles . In the third stanza: night and bright , shine and mine . In the last verse: stole and pole , see

Characterism And Criticism In John Updike s A + P
Every character in works of literature is subjected to criticism and critique by its readers. In the short
story, A+P , the protagonist, Sammy has been subjected to criticism for his actions of quitting his job,
a reaction of seeing young ladies be disrespected in his workplace for wearing bathing suits. Many
readers depict Sammy as immature and ignorant for quitting his job. However, the author, John
Updike contradicts this assumption, portraying Sammy as a nineteen year old, who demonstrates
strong morals, ambition, defiance, and a promising future, characterizing him not as an insolent teen
but a developing young man. Sammy displays his maturity through his strong morals by refusing to

Sammy contains morals, yearnings for success, and defiance at only nineteen. Sammy achieves these
standards that many individuals can not attain at nineteen, demonstrating his bright potential as an
employee and a person. After Sammy resigns from his cashier job he steps out into the A+P parking
lot. He remarks, The door heaves itself open, and outside the sunshine is skating around the asphalt
(Updike). The sunshine and good weather when Sammy exits A+P is symbolic of his bright future,
one filled with potential and success. His potential, which is granted to him by his previous actions,
indicates that Sammy is capable of anything. Sammy was the only person who spoke in defense of the
young girls who were ridiculed by Lengel, showing his kindness and compassion, which are
admirable qualities of any employee. If Sammy did not have the courage to quit his job, he would
spend the rest of his life as a cashier, catering to others needs rather than his own. This proves that

Permanent Markers Essay
Permanent markers are useful tools in many different fields, including everyday activities at home,
and they have helped us advance as a society. While it may be foolish to give such a minimally noted
item such credit, the proof stands. However, though important, most understand little of how these
common items function. The improvements they have made and led to, and the chemicals involved,
all play a major role in the evolution of the permanent marker. The chemistry involved in the making
of permanent markers is actually quite simple. They contain the natural chemical Xylene, a solvent
such as: alcohol, ethanol or isopropanol, ethylene glycol monobutyl. It also has at least propanol,
butanol, and diacetone; also polymer or resin is added to promote adhesion, it acts as a binder in this
way. To reach the well known end product, a plastic mold will need to be made, this is necessary to
create the container or the marker. The tip of the marker is then made by mixing a powder with water,
and then it is molded into the desired shape then baked into its pointed or flat form. Finally, place a
polyester cylinder inside the marker barrel to form a reservoir for the ink, fill the reservoir with ink,
and insert the tip into the top of the maker. The strong odor of the ... Show more content on

Abandoned Husband Spouse Analysis
Meaning of Absent Spouse The provisions of this article are of American origin, and must be
construed in the light of American Jurisprudence. An identical provision (except for the period) exists
in the California civil code (section 61); California jurisprudence should, therefore, prove
enlightening. It has been held in that jurisdiction that, as respects the validity of a husband s
subsequent marriage, a presumption as to the death of his first wife cannot be predicated upon an
absence resulting from his leaving or deserting her, as it is his duty to keep her advised as to his
whereabouts. The spouse who has been left or deserted is the one who is considered as the spouse
present ; such spouse is not required to ascertain the whereabouts of the deserting spouse, and after the
required number of years of absence of the latter, the former may validly remarry. It is the duty of the
spouse who has deserted to keep the abandoned spouse posted as to his whereabouts. It is therefore the
subsequent marriage of the abandoned spouse that falls under the class of voidable marriages, and not
the re marriage of the deserting spouse, after the period of seven years has lapsed. A wife who was

The Anxiety Of Incest In The Nineteenth Century
Hatib Kadir
Connoly defines Incest as a marriage with their near consanguinity. Incest was widely practiced up to
the nineteenth century. He explores the anxiety of Incest from two perspectives, phonology and
physiology approach. But I got an impression that his presentation was more exploring on the latter
one. One of the anxieties that came from the incest was about genetic disease. The arrival of new
asylum, such as prison and hospital, and the professionalization medical and science became the key
roles in prohibiting the incest. The anxiety toward incest was more because of the physiological
reasons, rather than the abstract philosophical theories. The bad effect of incest is observable. In the
domain of the progressive science, scientists proved the detrimental effects of incest. On the other
hand, people also believe that Incest will exaggerate the bad side and the peculiarity of the family for
their next generation. People not only afraid of infectious disease but also hereditary disease. The end
of the 19th century was also a moment where people started to think that reproduction was also an
issue. Thus, by prohibiting incest, people believed that they could reproduce a wealth family. ... Show

Now the Union army had one major advantage, which you can also see throughout the whole war, and
that is the sheer numbers the Union had and could produce compared to the Confederacy. In the Battle
of Antietam, the Union army consisted of 65,000 men, where as the Confederacy only consisted of
40,000. One huge advantage that the Union had in this before the battle is originally General Robert E.
Lee planned on fighting somewhere else, but Confederate curries lose the opord for the attack which
Union cavalry found bringing it back to General McClellan giving him a massive advantage. Another
advantage the Union army has in this battle is the battle occurred in Maryland, which is Union
territory giving them the better advantage of using the terrain to their advantage. The beginning of the
battle started at the Battle of South Mountain. This was an attack led by 38,000 Union soldiers against
only 12,000 defending Confederate troops, where the Confederate soldiers ended up being pushed
back around dusk before the main battle began. By the end of this pre battle the Union ended up with

Cabeza de Vaca Essay
Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca is best known as the first Spaniard to explore what we now consider to
be southwestern United States. His nine year odyssey is chronicled within the book The Chronicle of
the Narvaez Expedition. His account is considered especially interesting because it is one of the very
first documents that illustrates interactions between American natives and explorers. However, when
examining the exploration of the modern United States, there are many arguments that have to do with
the entitlement to the land and the motivations behind settling in the first place. Most explorers were
obviously in favor of their own conquests and Cabeza de Vaca is of course no exception. In Chronicle

Why Is Honor Important In Beowulf
Honor, something powerful enough to sculpt the world s oldest and most powerful empires.
Throughout history great empires such as China, Japan, and the Anglo Saxons have fought and died in
the hunt for honor and fame; bringing life to many great and powerful heroes. Beowulf, one such hero,
who fought many great battle in the name of honor and fame; putting his all into each battle he
encountered. In the epic Beowulf, Beowulf decides to help Hrothgar with the dreaded monster
Grendel and then battling him bare handed. Throughout the epic of Beowulf, Beowulf is mainly
concerned about honor and fame, in his hunt for honor he agrees to help Hrothgar and fight the
monster, Grendel, bare handed; but why? First off, known as a great and noble warrior ... Show more

The hero decides to fight the beast with his hands for the same reason he s done all else; simply for
honor and fame. Fighting the monster with untold strength, Beowulf begins to gain the upper hand: ...
Then he stepped to another/ Still body. Clutched at Beowulf with his claws, / Grasped at a strong
hearted wakeful sleeper/ And was instantly seized himself, claws/ Bent back as Beowulf leaned up on
one arm (lines 320 324). Beowulf s quest to prove his honor reaches its peak here, after showing
respect to the horrid monster who kills men in the least honorable way: in their sleep. For a man of
great strength and so eager to prove his power; to help others in need without first being inquired on
the job. Beowulf is truly a hero worthy of such tales as his, such an honorable man that poets have
spoken his name and his story for hundreds of generations. Helping the once great Hrothgar,
Defeating the monstrous Grendel, and proclaiming his everlasting honor are all reasons Beowulf
earned and preserved his everlasting honor. Honor can corrupt the strongest minded of men, but not in
the case of Beowulf. Beowulf used his greed for honor and fame to better himself and improve the
reputation of his namesake. He proved himself time and time again through countless quests and
deeds, spreading his name across the lands. Due to Beowulf s

Factors That V Leiden Thrombophilia
Factor V Leiden Thrombophilia Thrombophilia is a disorder that contains several genetic components
that can cause an individual to form arterial and venous thrombi more readily. Many serious medical
complications can result from thrombus formations that are often times fatal. In fact, a venous
thromboembolism (VTE) is relatively common and a thrombosis of the deep veins of the legs or
pelvis can lead to morbidity and mortality. Small portions of this patient population even develop
pulmonary emboli (PE), which can be fatal. This major medical problem affects 1 in 1,000 persons per
year and approximately 1 in 130 Americans younger than age 65 develop a VTE (Crow, 2003;
Kujovich, 2011). Interestingly enough, inherited thrombophilia can be identified in half of the patients
presenting with VTE (Kujovich, 2011). In 1993, European investigators Dahlback and his colleagues
recognized a new mechanism for familial thrombophilia. Their research was initiated in order to
investigate the cause for a number of young adults that presented with VTE, who had a family history
of thrombosis but no detectable genetic link. As a result, a previously unrecognized mechanism
associated with activated protein C resistance (APCR) was found Factor V Leiden mutation (Crow,
2003). Factor V Leiden is considered the single most common cause of hereditary thrombophilia and
is often linked to thrombosis due to hereditary hypercoagulability. Studies have indicated that factor V

Nursing As A Career Choice
Nursing as a Сareer Сhoice.
Anna Leonova

Nursing as a career choice. As Mother Teresa said: It is not how much you do but how much love you
put in the doing . These words can not but be common for nurses all over the world. Well, what makes
them love their profession? How did people decide to make nursing their career choice? What are the
reasons for people to start such a way of life? As it goes without saying, nursing can not be called a
profession or job only. It is something very special that totally changes your life. First of all, it is very
important to understand what nursing really is, what kind of responsibilities it includes. If we search
for the meaning of the word nurse , we will find such explanations as: Nurse a person educated and
trained to care for the sick or disabled (Dictionary by Farlex (n.d.), Nurse one who is especially
prepared in the scientific basis of nursing and who meets certain prescribed standards of education and
clinical competence (Saunders, Dorland s Medical Dictionary for Health Consumers, 2007).
According to the American Nurses Association: Nursing is the protection, promotion, and
optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, alleviation of suffering through
the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy in the care of individuals, families,
communities, and populations . All these options combined means that nursing is an integral

Was the Hindenburg disaster a result of sabotage committed by the opponents of the Nazi
organization? Did a bolt of lightning strike the zeppelin? Or was one of the most devastating accidents
in aviation history nothing but a cunningly planned insurance fraud?
br
br Over 60 years ago, airships were the queens of the skies. In the early 1900s, a stubborn, yet brilliant
German count, Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin, took keen interest in balloon flights and was devoted to
the design and construction of airships. At first, he had many difficulties and setbacks but soon his
airships were able to accommodate passengers as well. This lighter than air vehicle will later be
known as a zeppelin.

The Germans pleaded to buy sufficient helium to accommodate their airship needs, but the United
States, deciding that the helium might be of military value and should be conserved, refused. When
the disaster occurs, the United States would at first, regret not selling its supply of helium to Germany.
But 2 years into World War II, they will see that they were fortunate not to have done so.
br
br The German Zeppelin Company had already flown more than one million accident free voyages
with hydrogen but the crew always checked their passengers. All objects that could cause a spark or
electric charge were confiscated including flashlights, flashbulbs and distributed felt soled shoes to
prevent static on the walkways.
br
br One of Hindenburg s first missions was a 3 day trip across Germany dropping pamphlets and
broadcasting Hitler s speeches on its loudspeaker, urging German people to support Hitler. Then, it
embarked to fly around the world.
br
br Only a year after its launch, the Hindenburg was scheduled to fly from Frankfurt, Germany to New
Jersey s Lakehurst Naval Air Station on May 3, 1937. Bad weather prevented the Hindenburg from
landing at Lakehurst, so the captain cruised down the east coast, offering passengers the splendid
view. When the storm cleared out, the Hindenburg tried to land. But suddenly a tongue of flame

The Plan Of The Anaconda Plan
The anaconda plan
At the beginning of the war the Union thought it would be an easy, quick war. The Union leaders at
this time had no actual plan for the war. General Scott saw this and came up with the Anaconda plan.
Scott considered the war a strategy game, and would attack and penetrate the enemy s forces without
destroying all of their troops; focusing mainly on victory. At the beginning of the war Scott, unlike
others, thought that the war would be over in more than two years. The war ended in four years. The
term Anaconda plan came from Northern press trying to explain Scotts plan. Many people thought that
Scotts plan was too passive and difficult. The Union s effort in the civil war increased greatly on April
19, 1861. At this point Abraham Lincoln created a naval blockade, a system of ships that stops all
imports and exports, on the Confederate coastline. This blockade stretched from the Rio Grande to the
Chesapeake Bay. At this time Lincoln s argument was that the Confederacy had no right to secede.
Creating this blockade allowed the National warships to attack privateers. Privateers are privately
owned and run warships. These ships were used to take the Union s trade ships. Getting rid of the
privateers meant that the Union could transport goods easier. Scott s anaconda plan needed the Union
s army and navy to surround the Confederacy. After encompassing the Confederacy the army and
navy would tighten in, and effectively strangle the South. This contained two

What Does The Room Symbolize In The Masque Of The Red Death
The Masque of the Red Death
Edgar Allan Poe s short story, The Masque of the Red Death , is the tale of a young selfish prince who
is trying to escape the Red Death by secluding himself and 1,000 of his closest friends. The Red Death
is a horrible, and highly contagious, disease that causes the pores of the skin to ooze blood until death.
What makes the story so appealing is the irony and symbolism behind the castle and the rooms in
which the prince designs. Although Edgar Allan Poe is not known for his use of symbolism, he does
portray quite a few different symbolic examples of life and death in The Masque of the Red Death .
Although there are many different examples of symbolism in The Masque of the Red Death , the
example that sticks out the most is in the design of the rooms within the castle. A large portion of this
writing is focused on the colors of the seven rooms and what is held within them. The author first
points out how there are seven rooms; all set up differently then most castles. The second piece of ...

One of the most ironic situations in this story is in the end, Prospero runs through all of the rooms to
reach the crasher of his party. When Prospero finally reaches the black room, which most are scared of
because of the horrifying red glow, he randomly drops dead. Lori Garrett Hatfield says,
Poe s most prolific use of color in the story is his use of both red, which to him symbolized terror,
horror, an ending of life; and black, which symbolized death and destruction. The final room, the red
and black room, faces west, which represents the setting sun. The mummer the figure in the mask
representing death is dressed all in black. Hatfield s quote can help to support the theory that Poe
purposely chose to make Prospero run through all of the rooms and into the room of

research, the regulations that the individual states have passed are blow backs to Gun Rights
Advocates who support the 2nd Amendment. What the 2nd Amendment does not speak on is those

All 50 states allow a conceal carry on the same level but only a few are more restrictive than other. I
think this is the issue at hand and can be an issue if the federal government doesn t fix it. So, to answer
the question, who regulates gun control federal government or the individual states? The federal
government regulates the gun control but without being specific on the gun regulations, the individual
states can form gun laws that restrict a person from possess or carrying a firearm. It s not right but,
there is no clear definition in the Constitution that states that the individual states cannot make laws on
how to obtain a firearm or a carrying permit.
What is the 2nd Amendment about? Before that is stated, the 2nd Amendment states A well regulated
Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms,
shall not be infringed. This should be simple to understand but apparently, it is not. Let s go through
this Amendment to before get an understanding of it. To keep and bear arms is a right given to the
people to carry or even possess firearms and use them if needed. Just possessing a gun doesn t mean
that you must keep it locked away at home. Shall not be infringed is a right that shall not be taken
away once a law or statue is put out for the people. No restrictions or limitations shall be put on the
citizen for this right on owning a firearm or

However, the system is meant only to provide advance information to enable parents to make
judgments on movies they want their children to see or not to see (Wilson, Linz, Randall 4). Film
ratings are not a new concept. Since 1921, various forms of film ratings have been in existence in
order to prevent government regulation of the content of movies. In the 1920 s the National
Association of the Motion Picture Industry created a code of 13 subjects, including excessive and
lustful kissing and the word hell, that were banned from new movies. Ten years later, the Motion
Picture Producers and Distributors of America, an old version of the current MPAA, created the
Motion Picture Code to regulate the depiction of sex, violence, and vulgarity in films (Wilson, Linz,
Randall 4 5; Roth 6).
The offensive content of films continued to be restricted until 1968, when two Supreme Court
decisions changed this and sparked the creation of the current system, which is intended to be no more
than a guide for parents. Ginsburg v. New York and Interstate Circuit, Inc. v. Dallas both challenged
the legality of restricting children from viewing objectionable content, and in both cases, the Court
ruled that it is constitutional to prohibit children from viewing films without discriminating against
adults.

The Theme Of Fear In The Garden Of Beast
Fear is so deeply embedded in the human genome, as a defense mechanism. It is so old it is coded into
the oldest part of the human nervous system. Throughout history, fear has been used to manipulate
whole populations into starting wars, revolts, genocides, and discrimination. Never has that been more
true than in Adolf Hitler s Germany, his rise led to the deadliest conflict in human history, World War
II. His consolidation of power and control over the people of Germany, can be attributed to using fear
as a weapon of manipulation. In the Garden of Beasts by Erik Larson, follows the first American
ambassador into this dystopia, and the fear he experiences while there. Erik Larson chose to set In The

Imagine, that because of one decision that they make or not, determines if they are truly citizens, it
causes a fear that someone doesn t belong and it is a scary thought. This vote rigging is Larson taking
time to develop the setting of Germany, by showing the vice like grip that Hitler is developing on the
German people only about ten months after his ascension to chancellor. As Germany spirals into a
secret police state, people begin to worry about the omnipotent and all hearing ear of the Gestapo.
Larson shifts focus off of the Dodd s to give the reader insight into the atmosphere of Germany:
Germans grew reluctant to stay in communal ski lodges, fearing they might talk in their sleep (Larson
223). Larson makes this very plain, GErmans fear that whatever they say is being watched and
scrutinized by the government. This fear is so consuming, that Germans put off not only vacation to
ski lodges, but medical operations, as they fear they might speak negatively of Hitler while under
anesthesia. This paranoia of being caught for speaking and subsequently shot, is Larson deliberately
involving the reader in the affairs of Germany on the whole, and making the reader feel as if they too
are stuck in this dystopia. Later on Larson further develops the atmosphere of Berlin to further his
theme of fear. After a putsch of all of Germany of Nazi enemies, Dodd remarks on the tense
atmosphere in Germany, At a time when hundreds of men

The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, By Stephen Chbosky
Adlai Stevenson s once stated that ...the truth is often unpopular... In other words, most people are not
willing to face the truth that are unpleasant to them. Certainly, I agree with this statement and believe
that people always do not want to accept the truth. In particular, two literary works that support this
view point are The Pearl, a novella by John Steinbeck and The Perks of Being a Wallflower, an
epistolary novel by Stephen Chbosky. In these two books, both authors successfully portray two
characters, Kino and Charlie, who live in denial and avoid to face the reality. In The Pearl, Kino is
depicted as a dynamic character who lives in a shadow of denial. As an indigent fisherman, after he
finds the pearl of the world, the avarice drives him to crazy. He says that after he sells the pearl, his
family will become rich and he will get a rifle. Yet, the truth he doesn t face is that at that period of
time, they are still living under colonization and it is impossible for his family to get a better life, not

Persuasive Speech About Civil War
Conservatives, Feuillants, Jacobins and the People of France, the time for peace has come. Our once
great nation is now deeply wounded and divided. If we want to heal this nation, we must first heal
ourselves. We must be wounded healers, instead of the wounded warriors that we are. We must set
aside our differences and work together to make France into the great nation it once was.
The revolution is over! I urge you to put down your weapons and stop. Look around at all the great
work we have done. We the people, finally have a voice, we have the power. Civil war is harmful to
both parties; for both the conquerors and the conquered, the destruction is the same (BK 48). If we
continue to fight, more blood will cover the streets of France. Blood of our friends and family
member, and possibly even our own. We have accomplished what we set out to do already, anything
more at this point will only cause us to lose who we were and what we believe.
We need to start to reconcile with ourselves and start helping our neighbors. Once we rebuild and
focus on the right, we too can become healthy once again. More men become good through practice,
than by nature (Bk 48). If we continue to focus on the bad, we will only become worse. We the people,
the country, even the world deserve better than what we have become and what we have done. If we
start to heal ourselves, we then can begin to heal the nation. It is only then we can start to become who
we want to become.

Observation Of The Eating Observation Assignment
Throughout this course, I have studied and participated in various methods of research. There were
some methods I loved, some that I thought were useful, but they had their limitations, and a few that I
did not particularly enjoy. Let s start one of the methods that I enjoyed the most, direct observation. I
used direct observation for the eating observation assignment. I first thought that I would be very
uncomfortable using this method, but once I was practicing it I did not feel uncomfortable. I think this
method is very useful since people act like themselves when they believe no one is watching. This
allows researches to collect accurate data without the worry that the data could be skewed. Since my
participant did not know that he was being observed, he felt comfortable is his surroundings to act like
himself. I do like this research method and I would use it again, however there is a down side to the
method. Since you cannot talk to you re participants you then have to make your own conclusions,
which may not always be accurate. This problem also comes up with systematic observation.
Systematic observation was a method that I did not particularly enjoy. I found that there were too
many flaws with the method, like the one previously stated. Another flaw with systematic observation
is that the researcher is taking their own preconceived notions into their research. With systematic
observation, one is looking for something that they believe people to do. The problem with

Separation of Gold
The industrial separation process that I have decided to do is gold separation. Gold separation can be
done in a number of ways but there is not always one way to do it, but the combination of a couple of
these processes to extract pure gold. Gold is obtained form the lithosphere. It is separated from the ore
found in the lithosphere.
Gold s symbol is Au. Its atomic number is 79 and has an atomic mass of 196.96655 amu. Its melting
point is 1064.43°C, while its boiling point is 2807.0 °C. It is a transition metal and is yellow or gold in
colour.
There are also many principles used in the separation of gold. One of these is boiling points in the
process of smelting. In Froth floatation, the principle is the organic chemicals in the ... Show more

Smelting and roasting are classified as pyrometallurgy, which is, the use of heat for the treatment of an

Heap Leach Process:
Low grade gold bearing ore is mined in an open cut, then crushed and screened. Lime is mixed with
the ore to control the pH of the leaching operation. The ore is piled into heaps on polyethylene pads
and cyanide solution is sprayed over the heaps. The cyanide dissolves most of the gold as it trickles
through the ore, producing a pregnant solution which is collected in drains at the edge of the heap and
pumped to a gold recovery circuit, usually a Carbon in Leach
Mining:
Gold in the ground occurs either mixed with loose materials (alluvial) or as grains locked amongst
other mineral grains in solid rock. Some gold may be chemically combined with other elements in the
mineral grains. To obtain a sellable gold end product, ore must be mined and concentrated. The gold
must be liberated from other interlocking minerals then separated from all other contaminants.
Dredging:
Some of the alluvial goldfields discovered early this century were mined using floating dredges. In
Australia, some rivers in the Snowy Mountains and particularly in central Victoria at Beechworth,
were mined by this method.
Normally a pond is built for the dredge which uses a chain bucket at the front to excavate the loose
gold bearing sediment The gold is separated by gravity sorting

While espionage a crime of spying that only protects the federal government for the transferring state secrets on behalf of a foreign country, but if this only protects the government information Apple s customers are not allowed the same protection. Especially if they pay for the service of protection that Apple promises in their policy. Forcing Apple to enable hacking can compromise the privacy of many users in order to assist the government, and it can also so effect their business and their customer s personal information. The FBI reasoning s behind the need to have a master key is also due to the U.S Patriot Act. The U.S. Patriot Act states that the law is intended to help government agencies detect and prevent possible acts of terrorism, or sponsorship of terrorist groups. Another issue is the paid for third party that assisted the FBI in unlocking Farook s phone, if a third agency could easily bypass apple s software than the master key program that the FBI persuaded Apple to develop could be exploited by others. • 3. Theu.s. Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform And Consumer... The pros and cons of many macroeconomic policies are frequently debated. In particular, the Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act that was signed into law in July of 2010 sparked bitter controversy. Appropriately argued by American Banker s Capitol Hill reporter Victoria Finkle, Dodd Frank is viewed as either a landmark law that reined in the biggest banks or an economy crippling overreach that burdened small institutions. The Act intends to tighten financial regulation in the U.S., hoping to prevent the repeat of another financial crisis. Impetus for Dodd Frank stemmed from the bailout of financial institutions deemed too big to fail and the moral hazard it created. In 2008, intense pressure fell upon some of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mainly, Dodd Frank equipped the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) with Orderly Liquidation Authority (OLA) provisions, authorizing the FDIC to safely wind down large and complex financial firms that are failing. The OLA expects to minimize moral hazard and systemic risk. Another considerable aspect of Dodd Frank is new rules calling for greater transparency in risky dealings of exotic financial instruments: derivatives. The aim was to take these transactions out of the shadows and make them visible to regulators and markets. Dodd Frank also paved the way for monitoring the insurance industry by establishing a Federal Insurance Office in the Treasury. Altogether, these were useful steps and tools of Dodd Frank. However, Economist Barry Eichengreen points out that vesting the Fed with additional regulatory power and responsibility for the stability of the financial system was a political nonstarter. The recently bailed out AIG was using money provided by the Fed to pay retention bonuses totaling up to $6.4 million to 73 of its leading employees. Aware of the bonus payments, the Fed claimed to be powerless in preventing them. Later, a darker fact revealed that AIG was allowed to pay off obligations to Goldman Sachs using Fed bailout funds. The Fed knew about these transactions, and even instructed AIG lawyers not to divulge to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) internal memos authorizing said payments to Goldman Sachs. ... • 4. Biblical Archaeological Of Biblical Archaeology Biblical archaeology is defined as a sect of archeological studies that refers to the study of lands found in the Bible and their history (biblicalarchaeology.org). The firsthand goal of Biblical archaeology is to prove the authority of scripture through providing concrete evidence that the Bible lines up with accepted geography and history. The Jerusalem Siege Tower shows the accuracy of what was described as historical events in the Bible. The Pool of Siloam is found in John 9, and proves that the places that Jesus spoke of while performing miracles really existed, and still do. Finally, the Dead Sea Scrolls validate the authenticity of the scripture that we read today. Through the analysis of the excavation of the Jerusalem Siege Tower, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Shanks, 86 87) Two archaeologists, Ronny Reich and Eli Shuckron, were excavating in the area of the Gidhon Valley, at the outset of the tunnel. While digging in the kings garden, Shuckron noticed two steps in the ground, and after getting clearance from the Israeli Antiquities Authority, they began to excavate that area, discovering the true location of the Siloam Pool. (Shanks, 88) The Pool was then identified to be a trapezoid shape and around 225 long, with steps on the at least three of the exteriors. Archaeologists were also able to identify that the pool went through two phases, and that the stone steps were a part of the second phase. In the first phase, the steps were actually plastered, not stone. They also found coins inside the plaster, which dated back to the assumed first phase of the pool. The coins were all dated back to the era of the Jewish king, Alexander Jannaeus, who would be succeeded by Herod the Great. Therefore, archaeologists can conclude that the pool was developed the late Hasmonean period or early Herodian period. Excavators also found Second Temple pottery, which had all been finished in the Roman destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD, and coins from the First Jewish revolt against Rome, which lasted from 66 to 70 AD. With this knowledge, archaeologists could conclude that the pool was in use until the end of the revolt. The pool eventually disappeared under ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Moira In Handmaid s Novel Moira is the embodiment of rebellion and individualism. Moira s function in the novel is a role model for Offred and serves as a part of Offred s conscience. The reader can infer from Offred s monologues that she, to some extent, wants to be a feminist like Moira. Moira also represents the hope and courage that other Handmaids wish to have. Moira s key role was to give the reader and the characters in the book a glimpse of the other end of the spectrum of this dystopia. During their younger years in the university Moira is introduced as a rebel and nonconformist. She uses crude language and is described as a ...cunning and dangerous woman (Atwood 131). If I were Moira, I d know how to take it apart, reduce it to its cutting edges. I have no screwdriver, but if I were Moira I could do it without a screwdriver. I m not Moira (171). This excerpt shows that Offred looks for ways out due to Moira s presence in her past. This is paramount to how Offred acts in the book. Moira had given hope and courage to the Handmaids during and after her time at the Red Center. With Moira s escape from the center, it planted the seed of dreams into many Handmaids there. • 7. Solaris And Memento Analysis Elizabeth Loftus is a psychological scientist who discusses memories, specifically false memories, in her TED Talk How reliable is your memory? Ultimately, Loftus explains that it is possible to not only have false memories, but it is also possible to feed people misinformation that in return alters one s memory. This concept of false memories, and more broadly one s remembered past, is evident in a few films we have studied in class. In both Solaris (Soderbergh) and Memento, improving one s self knowledge was dependent on dealing with regret and guilt about one s remembered past. Solaris follows the protagonist, Chris Kelvin, on his journey to the space station with the goal of helping the scientists with an unspecified experience aboard the station. Shortly after his arrival, Kelvin experiences the strange experience firsthand when his deceased wife Rheya appears in the middle of the night. At first, Kelvin believes she is a figment of his imagination, or perhaps a dream, but soon he discovers she is real. Kelvin quickly decides to rid the station of Rheya by sending her off in a separate skyrocket; yet, to Kelvin s surprise Rheya materializes again that next night. In contrast, the second time Rheya emerges, Kelvin decides not to kill her, but rather begins to question her existence. It is argued that Solaris is able to reconstruct deceased ones from the memories of the scientists aboard the station. This raises the following question: are the duplicates materializing on the space station real people? Gordon has an unwavering opinion that these creatures are not human, and thus, should be eradicated. However, Kelvin has already resurrected his love with the duplicate of Rheya, and believes he could be happier living a life with her. Surprisingly, it is Rheya that indicates she is not the original woman Kelvin is remembering, or dreaming about. Instead, she is a reconstruction of Kelvin s remembered past of her. Kelvin s memories dictate how the duplicate Rheya speaks, moves, listens, and feels. This is problematic because as Loftus explains, memory can be unreliable. To improve his own self knowledge Kelvin must deal with the guilt of having hurt Rheya by leaving her and potentially leading her to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to some parents, Gothic Literature provides a sense of escape for the child and allows the child to relate to their own real life problems that they may be facing in their own lives. However, when parents allow their children to read Gothic Literature, they are opening their children s minds up and allowing them to go into the dark world and face many unknown challenges and experiences, in hopes of overcoming and conquering their fears that they may have once had. In these Gothic Literatures, there is often a recurring theme that allows the child to put themselves in that character s place or shoes. It allows the child to grow and become faced with hardships that later on in life, they are able to overcome and gain a true understanding of life itself. In the Importance of Externalization, Bettelheim states that fantasy fills the huge gaps in a child s understanding which are due to the immaturity of his thinking and his lack of pertinent information (61). Gothic Literature teaches children valuable, moral lessons that they are able to take with them throughout their life to help them gain overall maturity. Children learn that in order to gain maturity, they must work hard in order to achieve their goals and dreams in life. Allowing children to read these Gothic themed novels, will also help in aiding the child to develop both more mentally and psychologically through the dark themes and unknown that it portrays. Bettelheim argues that if a parent shadows his/her child from these mature ways, then the child suffers from an arrest of development ( Transcending Infancy, 125). The apple fruit, borne from the watered poison tree, depicts revenge. Once the poison tree was all grown it bore the apple fruit which was an evil plan of vengeance. The writer also uses a regular rhyme scheme in the poem to create rhythm. The rhyme scheme is such that the last words in every two lines in each stanza sound the same. • 10. Characterism And Criticism In John Updike s A + P Every character in works of literature is subjected to criticism and critique by its readers. In the short story, A+P , the protagonist, Sammy has been subjected to criticism for his actions of quitting his job, a reaction of seeing young ladies be disrespected in his workplace for wearing bathing suits. Many readers depict Sammy as immature and ignorant for quitting his job. However, the author, John Updike contradicts this assumption, portraying Sammy as a nineteen year old, who demonstrates strong morals, ambition, defiance, and a promising future, characterizing him not as an insolent teen but a developing young man. The sunshine and good weather when Sammy exits A+P is symbolic of his bright future, one filled with potential and success. His potential, which is granted to him by his previous actions, indicates that Sammy is capable of anything. Sammy was the only person who spoke in defense of the young girls who were ridiculed by Lengel, showing his kindness and compassion, which are admirable qualities of any employee. While it may be foolish to give such a minimally noted item such credit, the proof stands. However, though important, most understand little of how these common items function. The improvements they have made and led to, and the chemicals involved, all play a major role in the evolution of the permanent marker. The chemistry involved in the making of permanent markers is actually quite simple. They contain the natural chemical Xylene, a solvent such as: alcohol, ethanol or isopropanol, ethylene glycol monobutyl. It also has at least propanol, butanol, and diacetone; also polymer or resin is added to promote adhesion, it acts as a binder in this way. To reach the well known end product, a plastic mold will need to be made, this is necessary to create the container or the marker. The tip of the marker is then made by mixing a powder with water, and then it is molded into the desired shape then baked into its pointed or flat form. Finally, place a polyester cylinder inside the marker barrel to form a reservoir for the ink, fill the reservoir with ink, and insert the tip into the top of the maker. The strong odor of the ... • 12. Abandoned Husband Spouse Analysis Meaning of Absent Spouse The provisions of this article are of American origin, and must be construed in the light of American Jurisprudence. An identical provision (except for the period) exists in the California civil code (section 61); California jurisprudence should, therefore, prove enlightening. It has been held in that jurisdiction that, as respects the validity of a husband s subsequent marriage, a presumption as to the death of his first wife cannot be predicated upon an absence resulting from his leaving or deserting her, as it is his duty to keep her advised as to his whereabouts. The spouse who has been left or deserted is the one who is considered as the spouse present ; such spouse is not required to ascertain the whereabouts of the deserting spouse, and after the required number of years of absence of the latter, the former may validly remarry. It is the duty of the spouse who has deserted to keep the abandoned spouse posted as to his whereabouts. It is therefore the subsequent marriage of the abandoned spouse that falls under the class of voidable marriages, and not the re marriage of the deserting spouse, after the period of seven years has lapsed. One huge advantage that the Union had in this before the battle is originally General Robert E. Factors That V Leiden Thrombophilia Factor V Leiden Thrombophilia Thrombophilia is a disorder that contains several genetic components that can cause an individual to form arterial and venous thrombi more readily. Many serious medical complications can result from thrombus formations that are often times fatal. In fact, a venous thromboembolism (VTE) is relatively common and a thrombosis of the deep veins of the legs or pelvis can lead to morbidity and mortality. Small portions of this patient population even develop pulmonary emboli (PE), which can be fatal. This major medical problem affects 1 in 1,000 persons per year and approximately 1 in 130 Americans younger than age 65 develop a VTE (Crow, 2003; Kujovich, 2011). Interestingly enough, inherited thrombophilia can be identified in half of the patients presenting with VTE (Kujovich, 2011). In 1993, European investigators Dahlback and his colleagues recognized a new mechanism for familial thrombophilia. Their research was initiated in order to investigate the cause for a number of young adults that presented with VTE, who had a family history of thrombosis but no detectable genetic link. As a result, a previously unrecognized mechanism associated with activated protein C resistance (APCR) was found Factor V Leiden mutation (Crow, 2003). At the beginning of the war Scott, unlike others, thought that the war would be over in more than two years. The war ended in four years. In the 1920 s the National Association of the Motion Picture Industry created a code of 13 subjects, including excessive and lustful kissing and the word hell, that were banned from new movies. Ten years later, the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America, an old version of the current MPAA, created the Motion Picture Code to regulate the depiction of sex, violence, and vulgarity in films (Wilson, Linz, Randall 4 5; Roth 6). The offensive content of films continued to be restricted until 1968, when two Supreme Court decisions changed this and sparked the creation of the current system, which is intended to be no more than a guide for parents. His consolidation of power and control over the people of Germany, can be attributed to using fear as a weapon of manipulation. In the Garden of Beasts by Erik Larson, follows the first American ambassador into this dystopia, and the fear he experiences while there. Erik Larson chose to set In The Garden of Beasts in Hitler s Berlin to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Imagine, that because of one decision that they make or not, determines if they are truly citizens, it causes a fear that someone doesn t belong and it is a scary thought. This vote rigging is Larson taking time to develop the setting of Germany, by showing the vice like grip that Hitler is developing on the German people only about ten months after his ascension to chancellor. As Germany spirals into a secret police state, people begin to worry about the omnipotent and all hearing ear of the Gestapo. Larson shifts focus off of the Dodd s to give the reader insight into the atmosphere of Germany: Germans grew reluctant to stay in communal ski lodges, fearing they might talk in their sleep (Larson 223). Larson makes this very plain, GErmans fear that whatever they say is being watched and scrutinized by the government. This fear is so consuming, that Germans put off not only vacation to ski lodges, but medical operations, as they fear they might speak negatively of Hitler while under anesthesia. This paranoia of being caught for speaking and subsequently shot, is Larson deliberately involving the reader in the affairs of Germany on the whole, and making the reader feel as if they too are stuck in this dystopia. Later on Larson further develops the atmosphere of Berlin to further his theme of fear. After a putsch of all of Germany of Nazi enemies, Dodd remarks on the tense atmosphere in Germany, At a time when hundreds of men ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, By Stephen Chbosky Adlai Stevenson s once stated that ...the truth is often unpopular... In other words, most people are not willing to face the truth that are unpleasant to them. Certainly, I agree with this statement and believe that people always do not want to accept the truth. In particular, two literary works that support this view point are The Pearl, a novella by John Steinbeck and The Perks of Being a Wallflower, an epistolary novel by Stephen Chbosky. In these two books, both authors successfully portray two characters, Kino and Charlie, who live in denial and avoid to face the reality. In The Pearl, Kino is depicted as a dynamic character who lives in a shadow of denial. As an indigent fisherman, after he finds the pearl of the world, the avarice drives him to crazy. He says that after he sells the pearl, his family will become rich and he will get a rifle. Yet, the truth he doesn t face is that at that period of time, they are still living under colonization and it is impossible for his family to get a better life, not even a gun. When he ... In addition, Charlie does not remember the truth that he was molested by Aunt Helen until Sam, Charlie s favorite person, too, touches him. He then realizes that the person he loves a lot hurts him the worst. Not only Charlie has a psychological problem, but also his friend, Brad, refuses to accept the fact. Brad and Patrick are gay couple, but Brad does not want anyone to know it. • 34. Persuasive Speech About Civil War Conservatives, Feuillants, Jacobins and the People of France, the time for peace has come. Our once great nation is now deeply wounded and divided. If we want to heal this nation, we must first heal ourselves. We must be wounded healers, instead of the wounded warriors that we are. We must set aside our differences and work together to make France into the great nation it once was. The revolution is over! I urge you to put down your weapons and stop. Look around at all the great work we have done. We the people, finally have a voice, we have the power. Civil war is harmful to both parties; for both the conquerors and the conquered, the destruction is the same (BK 48). If we continue to fight, more blood will cover the streets of France. Blood of our friends and family member, and possibly even our own. We have accomplished what we set out to do already, anything more at this point will only cause us to lose who we were and what we believe. We need to start to reconcile with ourselves and start helping our neighbors. Once we rebuild and focus on the right, we too can become healthy once again. More men become good through practice, than by nature (Bk 48). If we continue to focus on the bad, we will only become worse. We the people, the country, even the world deserve better than what we have become and what we have done. If we start to heal ourselves, we then can begin to heal the nation. It is only then we can start to become who we want to become. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Observation Of The Eating Observation Assignment Throughout this course, I have studied and participated in various methods of research. There were some methods I loved, some that I thought were useful, but they had their limitations, and a few that I did not particularly enjoy. Let s start one of the methods that I enjoyed the most, direct observation. I used direct observation for the eating observation assignment. I first thought that I would be very uncomfortable using this method, but once I was practicing it I did not feel uncomfortable. I think this method is very useful since people act like themselves when they believe no one is watching. This allows researches to collect accurate data without the worry that the data could be skewed. Since my participant did not know that he was being observed, he felt comfortable is his surroundings to act like himself. I do like this research method and I would use it again, however there is a down side to the method. Since you cannot talk to you re participants you then have to make your own conclusions, which may not always be accurate. This problem also comes up with systematic observation. Systematic observation was a method that I did not particularly enjoy. I found that there were too many flaws with the method, like the one previously stated. Another flaw with systematic observation is that the researcher is taking their own preconceived notions into their research. With systematic observation, one is looking for something that they believe people to do. The problem with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Separation of Gold The industrial separation process that I have decided to do is gold separation. Gold separation can be done in a number of ways but there is not always one way to do it, but the combination of a couple of these processes to extract pure gold. Gold is obtained form the lithosphere. It is separated from the ore found in the lithosphere. Gold s symbol is Au. Its atomic number is 79 and has an atomic mass of 196.96655 amu. Its melting point is 1064.43°C, while its boiling point is 2807.0 °C. It is a transition metal and is yellow or gold in colour. There are also many principles used in the separation of gold. One of these is boiling points in the process of smelting. In Froth floatation, the principle is the organic chemicals in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Smelting and roasting are classified as pyrometallurgy, which is, the use of heat for the treatment of an ore Heap Leach Process: Low grade gold bearing ore is mined in an open cut, then crushed and screened. Lime is mixed with the ore to control the pH of the leaching operation. The ore is piled into heaps on polyethylene pads and cyanide solution is sprayed over the heaps. The cyanide dissolves most of the gold as it trickles through the ore, producing a pregnant solution which is collected in drains at the edge of the heap and pumped to a gold recovery circuit, usually a Carbon in Leach Mining: Gold in the ground occurs either mixed with loose materials (alluvial) or as grains locked amongst other mineral grains in solid rock. Some gold may be chemically combined with other elements in the mineral grains. To obtain a sellable gold end product, ore must be mined and concentrated. The gold must be liberated from other interlocking minerals then separated from all other contaminants. Dredging: Some of the alluvial goldfields discovered early this century were mined using floating dredges. In Australia, some rivers in the Snowy Mountains and particularly in central Victoria at Beechworth, were mined by this method. Normally a pond is built for the dredge which uses a chain bucket at the front to excavate the loose gold bearing sediment The gold is separated by gravity sorting
