Anne Frank Wrote about the Good Underneath
Anne Frank once wrote Despite everything, I believe that people are still really good at heart and
I personally agree with this statement. Anne Frank was a Dutch, Jewish girl who went into
hiding during the Holocaust. She and her family were hiding from the Nazis in the time of
World War II. The Jewish were one of the people to starve in Hitler s Hunger Plan. Anne during
her time in hiding wrote in her diary that in today s time is published. Sadly, after a few years of
hiding, she was arrested and died at a concentration camp. Her words however still affect our
time and rings out. She s able to see the light through all the darkness and that s where her quote
comes and it rings true. People are really good at heart. People show goodness in many ways
whether the gesture be big or small. In The Last Seven Months of Anne Frank, Willy Lindwer
interviewed Hannah Elisa Pick Goslar who was a personal friend of Anne. Hannah at the time
was going through a rough part in her life. She lost her father and her sister was ill. When she
went to Burgen Belsen, she was reunited with Anne. She (Hannah Elisa Pick Goslar) would stand
outside the fence and the two would speak to each other. Anne believed her father was dead along
with her mother. Hannah of course didn t know their whereabouts. However to provide relief to
Anne, with the goodness of her heart, she threw packages of food over the fence. She did this four
times before Anne got moved to another part of the camp. This act of

Harry Potter Character Analysis
serves to accentuate Hagrid s maternal role throughout the series. Hagrid serves not only as a
mother to these dangerous, isolated magical creatures, but he also serves as a maternal figure to
Harry who shows some of the same characteristics. Throughout the series, there are several points
where Harry is seen as dangerous. For example, in The Chamber of Secrets, Harry is suspected to
be the heir of Slytherin because he can speak parseltongue, and everybody thinks he is dangerous.
Also, in the fifth book, The Daily Prophet promotes that Harry and Dumbledore are dangerous and
manipulative because they re trying to draw attention to the fact that Lord Voldemort had returned.
The Care of Magical Creatures class formed many other connections with characters, but it also
connects to and shows several real world political styles.
It was mentioned earlier that this magical institution connects not only to the characters and events
throughout the Harry Potter series, but also to real world political styles and lessons. One of the
real world political styles that the Care of Magical Creatures class exemplifies is that of
populism. The populist political style is exemplified through the intervention of the Ministry of
Magic in the incident between Draco Malfoy and Buckbeak. Normally the Ministry will not
interfere if a student gets injured. For example, when Harry s arm was broken because of his
jinxed broom, the Ministry never jumped in to try and solve what happened or to inflict a

INTRODUCTION
The product or service offered by a firm is to a large extent determined by the market segment the
firm wants to capture. And in most cases, when the firm knows what segment of the market they
want to capture, it makes the decision of their product offering easier. A good way to further
explain this would be to consider two movie theaters one operating near a university campus and
one located in the down town part of the city, the cinema close to the school would easily identify
their market as student and offer price ranges and viewing times that are tailored to suit the lifestyle
of a student while the cinema operating downtown might not be incline to pursue that same strategy
they can price their can decide to sell their tickets at a higher price because they are not targeting the
same markets. Although this paper isn t about movies, the example above I hope show how the
segments the company is targeting sometimes helps determine the product the company offers.
In the airline industry, the two major market segments that can be readily identified are, (1) the
Business travelers and (2) the Leisure traveler. This two segments to a large extent help airlines
decide where to focus the first segment is driven by high ticket prices which helps airlines
maximize the airlines yield

The National Bird Of Uganda
Uganda is in east central Africa. Its capital is Kampala. The flag of Uganda is very different from
ours in America but the flag consists of six equal horizontal strips, black, yellow, red repeating
from the top to bottom. At the center is a white circle that has a crested crane which is the national
bird of Uganda. They even have a anthem which goes like this, O Uganda! May God Uphold
Thee . Some important holidays in Uganda are New Year s Day, Labor Day, Independence Day,
Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Easter Day, and more. It s very short and simple if you ask me. But

They also have dances in Uganda which are important parts to ceremonies and special occasions.
They have different people that make up different dances, so the creativity of the dances is great
to see in different traditions. The most popular, recognizable dance would be the Kiganda,
where the performers move only their lower bodies to the drum beat. The dance is a pretty trick
dance but many people catch on and turns it into whatever they would like to make it. The dance
has many different faces but the known one is performed for the Baganda King. The dances tie
into the religion of the people who live in Uganda. Over four fifths of Ugandans are Christians,
either Protestant or Catholic. They are strong in their faith and traditional beliefs. Other than
praying to God, Christians and Muslims, people also consult a local oracle/healer. Around 10%
are Muslims, a legacy of the Arab traders who traveled to Uganda in the 19th century. Many
Ugandans prayed and praised if they need food or clothes.
Uganda is a presidential republic which means that whoever is president of Uganda is head of
state and head of government. The head of government (President) is HE Mr Yoweri Kaguta
Museveni. He controls what happens and what rules are enforced. He does not control the people s
every move but he does monitor just like any government would. There is a constitution as well
that provides for a unitary republic and the President appoints a cabinet as

The Collapse Of The Space Shuttle Before Columbia
In the year of 2003, on February 1, a tragic accident had occurred in the atmosphere above Texas
as the space shuttle called Columbia was on it s way to land at the Kennedy Space Center. The
shuttle itself was on its 28th mission and was just one of the five space shuttles that was used
amongst NASA. But on this particular day, it wasn t like the rest because astronauts are supposed
to return home safely; that s not what happened on this day. There were seven astronauts that were
inside the shuttle. Their names were Rick Husband, David Brown, Michael Anderson, Laurel Clark,
William McCool, Kalpana Chawla, and Ilan Ramon. They had all died in an explosion within the
shuttle itself.
NASA was trying to figure out how this could ve happened. They ran through many possibilities
of what could ve gone wrong and they came to the conclusion that the reason the shuttle had
exploded when coming through the atmosphere was because a chunk of foam hilt a wing of the
craft. This was suspected to be the reason when tape was analyzed of the takeoff before
Columbia went into space. NASA wanted to know if it was the real reason but didn t want
anyone else to know of the issues besides them. The Department of Defense had asked
permission from the people working for NASA to use orbital spy cameras to analyze the problem.
But NASA had said no to their offer and went on to analyze and check the disaster for themselves
so that they knew what the problem was. They call this a common check .

Millennium Cohort Study
RESULTS Overall, 108,129 Service members enrolled in panels 1 and 2 of the Millennium
Cohort Study and completed baseline survey. Service members who were not in active duty or
National Guard/Reserves at baseline (n=5,079), who did not remain in the assigned separation
category until end of study (n=37,922), who did not complete at least two follow up surveys
(n=27,984), and who had missing covariate data (n=5,974) were excluded from the study.
Exclusion criteria resulted in 31,170 study participants among whom approximately 18%
(n=5,510) were categorized as veterans. Majority of the study participants were male gender, aged

Furthermore, significant positive dose response relationships were observed between smoking
and number of combat exposures as well as smoking and the amount of alcohol consumption. As
stated, time until separation, defined as time spent in Service between the completion of
baseline survey and date of separation, was further investigated among the veterans group
(n=5,510). Table 3 shows the results of the time until separation sub analysis. The smoking
prevalence were 23%, 20%, 20%, and 17% for less than 3 months, 3 months to less than 1 year,
1 year to less than 2 years, and 2+ years, respectively. The differences of smoking prevalence by
time until separation gradually diminished over time after participants separated from service.
By time 3, all groups had similar smoking prevalence (12% 14%). At univariate level, a dose
response relationship was observed as the closer participants were to the separation date at
baseline, the higher chance of them being a smoker. However, GEE model only revealed
significantly elevated odds among those stayed in service between 3 months to a year after the
completion of baseline survey. For analyses examining type of separation, we further excluded
Reserve and National Guard personnel (n=1,658) due to the lack of separation data. Table 4 shows

Essay On Bowling For Columbine Shooting
Although many people think that Americans are gun nuts, in reality they re just all nuts. This
realization was shown in the documentary Bowling for Columbine by Michael Moore. Throughout
the film Michael Moore shows us many examples of why America has problems with guns.
However after watching one realizes that the problem isn t with guns but within the American
people instead.
When the film first begins we see Michael Moore going to a bank a getting a rifle from a bank just
for opening a bank account. Shortly after that there is a montage of people selling guns and the
violence that comes from it. This shows just how easy it is getting a gun is in America which was
an effective way in proving how America is just nuts. Not only is it an irresponsible ... Show more

For example the film mentions that Canada has seven million guns in ten million homes with
about one hundred sixty five gun related deaths per year while America has an astounding
eleven thousand one hundred twenty seven gun related deaths per year. This clearly shows that
the problem isn t guns but the American people. It s not the gun that moves by itself and goes
out attacking people but the people. Another within the documentary says that Marilyn Manson
and violent computer games/movies is to blame for the Columbine shootings. Germany has a
considerably larger amount of goth population when compared to the US but their gun violence
is twenty nine times less than the US . Japan also watches very violent movies and plays a lot of
violent video games, however their gun related deaths are two hundred and eighty five times
less than ours. The last and probably most important case the president of the NRA. Not only did
he have the audacity to have a gun riot just days after a gun related incident he refused to
apologize for it and walked away. This truly shows how America really are just full of nuts.
However even though the film showed us the despair that is America s gun problems it also
showed us a shred of hope. When Michael Moore went to KMart with Mark Taylor and Richard
Castaldo two Columbine victims, they bought bullets to the KMart headquarters and made sure
their stories were heard. After attempting

The Pathophysiology Of Schizophrenia
Schizophrenia is a unique disease in its pathophysiology. For their early lives, patients appear
healthy. However, symptoms begin to appear during adolescence or early adulthood and may be
triggered by changes in the brain during puberty. The first signs of the illness include anxiety,
depression, changes in friends, sleep problems, irritability, dropping grades, and having trouble
concentrating (Picchioni and Murray, 2007; National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)).
Delusions and hallucinations typically begin between the ages of 16 and 30 (NIMH).
One category of symptoms is referred to as positive symptoms. These include hallucinations
involving any of the senses and attempting to make sense of these hallucinations often leads to
delusions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These scientists identified 128 independent associations with schizophrenia encompassing 108 loci,
83 of which had not been previously reported. They found that among the loci that they identified,
there was no evidence of non additive or epistatic effects. 75% of the 108 loci identified in this
study include genes that code for proteins and an additional 8% are located within 20kb of a gene.
They found that there was an association with CACNA1C, CACNB2, and CACNA1I, which code
for subunits of voltage gated calcium channels and have been suggested to play a role in other
psychiatric disorders in addition to schizophrenia. Quantitative trait loci, those that regulate the
expression of mRNA, were also implicated in conferring a risk for schizophrenia. There were also
higher levels of expression of schizophrenia risk genes in tissues associated with immune function,
which supports the hypothesis that immune dysregulation plays a role in schizophrenia. They also
found that copy number variations that were linked to schizophrenia overlapped with those that are
associated with autism spectrum disorder and other intellectual disabilities (Schizophrenia Working
Group of the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium, 2014). However, some scientists hypothesize that
genes alone are not sufficient for the development of schizophrenia

Comparing The 1971 White Paper On Defence And The 2008...
The purpose of this paper is to compare the 1971 White Paper on Defence and the 2008 Canada
First Defence Strategy. More specifically, this paper will compare the strategic environment,
Canada s greatest allies, the alliances Canada supported, and Canada s security and defence
priorities in the 1970s and under the CanadaFirst Defence Strategy (CFDS). As this paper will
demonstrate, the key differences witnessed in the 1971 White Paper on Defence and in the 2008
Canada First Defence Strategy is in terms of the specificities of the foreign and defence policy
presented, the perceived types of threats to national and international security, and the Canadian
Forces capability to respond to such major challenges. However, both the 1971 White Paper and the
2008 CFDS clearly demonstrate that the Canadian Forces are there first to defend Canada and
Canadians, then to defend North America in cooperation with the United States, and finally to
contribute to international security. Furthermore, both papers emphasize on the importance of
defence policy in achieving foreign policy objectives.
Global Strategic Environment
When assessing the global strategic environment, the major changes between 1971 and now is the
types of perceived threats to national and international security. In 1971, when the White Paper on
Defence was released, the world was dominated by the United States and the USSR, and there was
a consensus that the major threat Canada feared the most was a nuclear war

Fool Me Once... Gimpel in Gimpel the Fool by Isaac Bashevis Singer is, contrary to what the
title implies, not a fool because of his morals, his faith in God, and his unshakable faith in
humanity and human goodness. Gimpel considers himself a self induced fool, so to speak. He
is totally aware of the fact that the townspeople mock and play jokes on him he almost
encourages them to do so. But this, and the fact that Gimpel is so conscious of how the
townspeople all peg him as the town idiot, is exactly what makes him the opposite of a fool.
Singer gave Gimpel the ability to be a wise fool. Although oxymoronic, a wise fool is the perfect

This trait makes Gimpel not only courageous, but selfless. Throughout the story, Gimpel s faith
in God is tried and tried through multiple obstacles and complications. But despite the whole
world seeming to be against him, his faith in God and His powers remains unwavering and true.
In the beginning of the story, writer Daniel Fraustino notes that Gimpel is able to weather [the
townspeople s] humiliation through his simple faith in God and the Bible. It is hard to believe
that anyone could withstand such faith in any higher power with all the trickery that Gimpel is
forced to face, but he perseveres. When Elka, Gimpel s wife, births a child only 4 months into
their marriage, Gimpel is skeptical of whether or not the child could be his. He tells her, You have
borne a bastard (280). Gimpel continues to be unconvinced, To tell the plain truth, I didn t believe
her (281), until he speaks with the school master and he told [Gimpel] that the very same thing had
happened to Adam and Eve (281). Later on, Gimpel catches his wife sleeping with another man
beside her. Instead of confronting Elka about the man, he goes to the rabbi. When the rabbi does
not permit Gimpel to see Elka or their child, Gimpel begins to regret saying anything at all, so he
resolves to fix everything. In the morning I went to the rabbi and told him

Analysis Of Sherman Alexie s Lone Ranger And Tonto...
In all mediums of storytelling alike, there is always the question of if the author is being truthful
about the information they are giving. This includes the lessons told through the story of morality
in fiction, historical fiction, or anything related to such topics. Consequently, most books read in
popular culture have a lesson; novels are a form of education. An example of this has been shown
through Sherman Alexie s Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven. In this novel, he attempts to
shed light on the struggles Native American people, specifically on the Spokane Reservation,
withstand through multiple stories and perspectives. Some novels, if their perspective of truth has
not been taken into account, still affect people in their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, all of the stories listed with moral lessons are for children. That brings a question; do
adult and young adult novels all have similar lessons to be taught?
Many novels, like 1984 by George Orwell as well as Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven
by Sherman Alexie, focus on the time frame and culture the novel was written in. 1984 is a book
that focuses on a dystopian society in Oceana. Big Brother controls every citizens thoughts,
actions, memories, etc., in order to achieve a perfect dictatorial society. Though it was written in
1944, during World War II, where the dictatorship of Stalin (who Big Brother was based off of)
was prevalent, it is still read to this very day. Most would argue that it is read simply for the
classical aesthetic purpose, but while that still may be true, it is still read due to the fact that
society has not learned the lessons taught in the novel. In the month of January, 1984 shot to No.
1 on Amazon s best seller list [that] week... (Kakutani, Why 1984 Is a 2017 Must Read) after
Sean Spicer describes lies and the facts that went against the evident truth as Alternative Facts .
This struck something in many people that brought them to draw a connection to the novel in
discussion. What this novel teaches is the dangers in total power and control, as well as the early
signs of a dictatorship. These two topics are prevalent in today s society and political culture,
meaning the lessons exemplified in this book can still be

Cats Essay
The musical Cats is an outstanding show that captivates audiences of all ages. It is based on a
book of poems called, Old Possum s Book Of Practical Cats , written by T.S. Eliot. Cats tells a
nonsense story of different cats. The amazing music, unique costumes, and intricate dance
choreography bring a breath taking story to life that a leaves a lasting impression on the viewer.
T.S. Eliot s poems from his Old Possum s Book Of Practical Cats , not only inspired the play Cats ,
but are also used as the lyrics for all of the songs in the play. The music was written by Andrew
Lloyd Webber and T.S. Eliot s poems are sung to the adopted tunes with very minor adjustments.

The actors all sing while dancing, which makes the fact that they always hit their notes perfectly,
even more impressive. The cats dance throughout the entire play. All of the dances are complicated
and include difficult turns, leaps, and some acrobatics. The background of the stage is a 3
dimensional setting built to look like a dump. The cats use the dump as part of the stage. They
enter and exit through old tires in the floor and jump across the other objects as if they were real
cats playing in a dump.
The play included all types of dancing, including Jazz, Ballet, Modern, Tap, and Lyrical. Most of
the dancing, however, was a form of Jazz. At one point in the play a group of bugs perform a tap
dance. This scene was comical, but the tapping was outstanding. Most of the actors are
accomplished singers, actors, and dancers with a lot of previous experience. Many of them have
attended performing art schools and not only rehearse their main role, but also understudy 2 to 3
other characters. The actors are all well practiced, which is evident in the quality of the show.
I would strongly recommend this play to anyone who loves music, dance, and/or cats. It is a very
unique play that continues to fill your thoughts for days after you have seen the play. The play is
too long and too complicated to fully appreciate the first time you see it, so I would love to see it

Wealth And Poverty Exposed In Half-Breed, By Maria Campbell
The book Half Breed by Maria Campbell tells the life story of Maria Campbell and the conditions
she lived in as a half breed women. Maria Campbell was born in a home where Cheecum, her
father s Cree grandmother, taught ancient Cree rituals and legends. Maria s strength came from
the Cree traditions and by Cheecum s wisdom. However, this was weakened by extreme
discrimination and poverty. When Campbell was twelve, her mother died, and that forced her to
quit school and take care of her younger siblings. Campbell then married at the age of fifteen in
order to prevent her brothers and sisters from being placed in an orphanage. Her attempt to keep

apples, and cakes and all we had was moose meat, ugly dresses and patchy pants. (Campbell 50) A

Comparing The City And Uncharted Forest In Ayn Rand s Anthem
The book Anthem was written in 1938 by Ayn Rand and is about what could happen to the
world if we would agree to a collective society. The main two places in the novel are the City and
the Uncharted Forest which both have similarities and differences. A similarity between the City
and Uncharted Forest is that both have houses and towards the end of the book also that people
are living in both places (Rand 88 89). There are a lot of differences in between the City and the
Uncharted Forest such as that the City is completely discovered and the Uncharted forest is
forbidden and undiscovered, the house that Liberty and Equality discover in the forest looks a lot

Strategic bombing would be a major factor in the destruction of London. More than 500,000
people would die because of strategic bombing campaigns. Blitzkrieg is also known as The Blitz
would be a major tactic used by the Nazi s. They would use this tactic to invade neighboring
countries. By the time the blitz came upon Britain the Nazi s conquered most of Europe. The
Nazi s planned to attack Britain and invade. They would try to cripple the British defenses. While
trying to bombard their defenses they accidentally attacked a civilian area which caused uproar
with the British people. Many people thought raids like this would not stop so they had a mass
migration of children and artwork. The Nazi s began bombing London in September of 1940 and
this would last until May of 1941. The Battle of Britain was going on around the same time. This
battle would not only be important because it would prove to the Nazi s that they could not
invade Britain, but this would mark Hitler s first defeat in World War 2. This would be a
landmark battle because not only was this battle not fought on land, but for this first time in
human history the whole battle was fought in the skies. One of the greatest military inventions
would come out of this battle was radar. Radar was only in the infancy before the battle, but
would become vital in the allies victory in the war. London by the end of the war was in need of
major reconstruction. Many would see this as an opportunity to rebuild and grow the city like
never before. They would introduce satellite towns and high rise buildings. They would build the
Barbican which would hold office blocks, an arts centre, a museum, housing and a school. This

Paganini Essay
Paganini
This man with the long black hair and the pale countenance, opens to us with his violin a world
which we had never imagined, except perhaps in dreams. There is in his appearance something so
supernatural that one looks for a glimpse of a cloven hoof or an angel s wing
Paganini remains one of the most famous virtuosos in the history of music. His concerts were not
only astonishing, but controversial. People could not believe what Paganini was able to do;
consequently, they explained such virtuosity with diabolic myths, finding in the musician the
protagonist of a bizarre tale. However, Paganini was far from being just a myth. He was one of the

Thus an incredulous public accounted for the breath taking magic of a great violinist performance
on a single string (364).
This was not the only myth surrounding his G string performances. It was also said that Paganini
had committed murder, and in his prison cell, he was allowed to play his violin with only one
string, so he could not hang himself with the aid of several ones (Istel 102). It is alleged that such
allowance led him to the mastering of the G string.
However, the real story unveils more interesting facts that those stated in the legends. The idea
of the G string concerto was conceived by Paganini while he was a chamber virtuoso and court
conductor to Princess Maria Anna Elise, the sister of Napoleon I (Saussine 31). Paganini wanted
to impress a lady, with whom he was much attached . He promised to write a musical fantasy of
love for her, and he carried out his word with the composition ScГЁne Amoureuse (Love Scene), in
which he presented a dialogue between the G and E strings from his violin, removing the other two
from the instrument (Pulver 55). After finishing his presentation, not only his lady was pleased, but
all the audience. In fact, the Princess cleverly lit a bulb in Paganini s mind by asking

Social Media Has An Inopportune Impact On Society
Technology has been improving yearly and has now become part of many people s life. Humans
have become dependent on technology for many things like to communicate, to learn, to create
things, to advertise, the list is endless. Access to the internet has become easier even in
underdeveloped countries. This means that almost anyone can post, share, comment, and do many
different functions that social mediaallows to do.
Considering that technology is easy to access and that people depend on it, it is almost
impossible to not have a controversial conversation over it. Some people believe that posting on
social media has an inopportune impact on society. However, there are a lot of positive impacts
social media has on society. Social media bring people together and helps society in a lot of
ways. Posting to social media comes with responsibilities since what is posted could not be
taken lightly by someone else however, there should be no fear in posting since the freedom to
do so is there for the taking and can benefit in many ways. First and foremost, social media was
made to share ideas. In order to share ideas a way for things to be published and seen by others
had to be created. Social media is defined as the ability to use the internet to share and communicate
instantly with others (historycooperative.org). The developers of social media applications such as
Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, and many more, found a way to make this possible. In

AUDITING THE REVENUE CYCLE
Audit procedures associated with the revenue cycle is the main point in this report. Basically, it is
divided into three sections. First, it begins with a review of alternative technologies used in both
legacy and modern system. The focus is on the key operational task performed under each
technological environment. The second section discusses the revenue cycle audit objectives,
controls and test of controls that an auditor would perform to gather evidence needed to limit the
scope, timing and extent of substantive tests. The last section describes revenue cycle substantive

Layton s Essay On Rhetorical Analysis And Discussion
Layton begins his essay describing what engineering is; that its work is in the marketplace rather
than in a laboratory. He then states the engineer s dilemma is based on bureaucracy, not capitalism.
Engineers are called the original organization man, and are important to large businesses, but a
social revolution amongst them would not end their terms of marginality. Moving on, Layton then
goes over engineeringand its history in America. He then goes on to discuss professionalism.
Many engineers have a concern for their social status, and seek to be on par with doctors and
lawyers, and to do this, they must show more social responsibility. Layton quickly discusses
autonomy, and then goes on to explain the pros of professionalism, and that it prevents engineers
from becoming cogs in the industrial machine. Going on, Layton states that professionalism carries
an air of elitism, and is not democratic in nature, but can serve democratic ends. It requires
engineers to align with their profession. However, business resists... Show more content on

about conformism a bit more, some even going as far as to avoid unorthodox dress. Coming back
to the phases of an engineer, Layton states that the final step is moving from engineering to
business. Although this is not achieved by all, some do and completely sever ties with their
previous engineering profession, using Charles M. Schwab as an

The Issue Of Violence Against Women
Violence against women includes many kinds of harmful physical, emotional, and sexual
behaviors against women and girls that are most often displayed by a family member, or at times
by strangers. Violence against women is a growing worldwide issue yet it s still a hidden problem.
Most of us have a hard time imagining the concept of violence against women. The freedom from
threat of harassment, battering, and sexual assault is hard to grips. Violenceis a deep part of our
culture and our everyday lives. The problem of violence against women rages all over the world
and is a crisis in almost all societies. In the past, this problem was called domestic violencebut has
recently changed to violence against women. The term domestic violence does not demonstrate
that almost all cases of domestic abuse are men injuring women. How important is the issue of
violence against women to the citizen of American? Many people simply do acknowledge the
impact and importance that it has on the female population in the United States. Although there are
many other important concerns to focus on, this issue is often overlooked and pushed to the side.
Picking this topic was important to me, because I dealt with domestic abuse for many years from
a former partner. Before experiencing such a difficult hardship I didn t have much knowledge on
this topic. Most women don t believe they could be ever be a victim of domestic abuse. According

The Issue of Poverty As a Whole in Pakistan
Poverty and suffering is considered not out of the norm for many families in Pakistan. Many of
them have had to make enormous sacrifices in order to survive in these hard times. As seen in
the previous paragraph children who are to sacrifice their education to help the family during
times of poverty, may never really be able to receive an education later. For most families that are
in the same situation like Rafiq and his family, the basic necessities such as food and water that
others take for granted are now considered the highest priority in their lives. Though native born
families are the ones who suffer the most in poverty in Pakistan, there are also outsiders who suffer
just as much. One example is the children of Afghan refugees from Afghanistan. During the Afghan
War, many families in that region have been separated or killed during battles and abductions
conducted by the terrorist group Al Qaeda. This group has threatened almost virtually everyone in
the country that if they don t listen and obey their rules, they will have them executed or tortured.
Thus, many families have packed their belongings and have made long treks out of the war torn
nation. Once, they come into Pakistan, they expect their experience to be better than the one in
Afghanistan. And to a certain extent, some of that may be true. However, once they become
integrated in the society, they realize that it is very hard to find a place to work.
Afghan children are also put in the same situation

Essay on Lab Report Kinetics of Chemical Reactions
Lab Report Kinetics of Chemical Reactions Kinetics of chemical reactions is how fast a reaction
occurs and determining how the presence of reactants affects reaction rates. In this experiment the
rate of reaction for Fe+3 and I is determined. Because the rate of chemical reactions relates
directly to concentration of reactants, the rate law is used to find the rate constant, and calculated
with specified temperatures. Two catalyst reactants are used in the experiment, thiosulfate and
starch, to dictate the time of reactions. The order with respect to Fe+3 and I is also determined by
graphing the slope of the log rate initial as a function of the log (Fe+3) or (I ). The activation

Manifest Destiny And Manifest Destiny
The currently functioning civilization is solely a result of events in history. Each and every major
event in history has a cause and effect. The effect of that event shapes the perception of different
contributors of society. In the mid 1930 s the Great Depression was a major event that had a
significant outcome that changed the perception of the economy. It made individuals more aware
and cautious about their finances. Along with making individuals more cautious it also shaped the
United Stateseconomically. Less than a century before, a similar occurrence took place in the
United States. Manifest Destiny allowed for the repercussion of the Ghost Dance. Manifest Destiny
constructed how Native Americans now view Americans while also shaping their culture traditions.
The idea of Manifest Destiny and the act of the Indian Removal was used as a guide in the future to
change the way the United States dealt peacefully with situations. These events and the outcomes
lead to the United States having the American Dream and allowing everyone freedom and
opportunity. There is a cause and effect relationship between Manifest Destiny and the Ghost Dance
because the Ghost Dance was a response, in the form of a theodicy, that showed the European
Americans the destruction they caused by force removing the Native Americans from the West.

Things They Carried Ethnography
In any war story, but especially a true one, it s difficult to separate what happened from what
seemed to happen.
Tim O Brien, The Things They Carried It is not only war stories that create confusion, both for their
writers, and their readers, about the nature of the truth they tell. Is the truth in a true story what the
writer experienced, or the truth of what really happened? If the story is about other people, is the
truth what the writer sees them do, or what they think they are doing? If the writer does not know
the whole truth, does the story become false?
All these questions become even more pertinent if posed about ethnographies. An ethnography is,
by nature, meant to be a description of a people (the dictionary ... Show more content on

Ethnography has undergone a process of drastic evolution (or, some might say, oscillation) in
the century or so that it has existed as an anthropological tool. Many aspects of ethnography
have changed between two extremes that I will term traditional ethnography and postmodern
ethnography. Everything from the declared goal of the anthropologist to the approach to
possible objectivity or subjectivity of the anthropologist s writing, from views on the concept of
culture to the ethnography s intended audience, even to choice of topic to explore, has changed.
I will explore these differences using Coming of Age in Samoa by Margaret Mead as an
example of traditional ethnography, and Poetics of Military Occupation by Smadar Lavie as an
example of postmodern ethnography. Veiled Sentiments by Lila Abu Lughod will serve as
something of a mix, poised between the two extremes. I must first, however, explain my choice
of postmodern as a label for the kind of ethnography that Smadar Lavie produced in 1990 (based
on fieldwork done throughout the 70 s). The aspect of postmodernism that I embrace in
characterizing Poetics of Military Occupation as postmodern is postmodernism s abandonment of
the concept of an absolute truth. The definition of postmodernism offered by Josh McDowell and
Bob Hostetler as a worldview characterized by the belief that truth doesn t exist in any objective
sense but is created rather than discovered serves well to illustrate the ways

Bioluminescence And The Exploration Of The Deep Sea
Bioluminescence and the Exploration of the Deep Sea Bioluminescence is a topic most people do
not know about. When asked what bioluminescence is, that person probably could not answer the
question. It is actually the chemical process that certain organisms are able to use in order to
synthesize and emit light, but most people just identify these organisms as glowing animals,
glowing plants, and glowing organisms. Most people have seen these glowing animals in action
under the sea, considering that most organisms that use bioluminescence live in the depths of the
sea. Today, it seems normal and typical for an animal in the deep sea to glow, but thousands of
years ago, it was all but a mystery. The idea that natural light could be emitted from a living
organismfascinated those throughout the field of science. When it was first discovered,
bioluminescence impacted the way people thought and it caused them to start to create things that
were unimaginable. The exploration and encounter with bioluminescence impacted the way
chemical reactions are studied, changed the way people interact with the natural world, and it
guided scientists to new and improved innovations. Bioluminescence was briefly discovered in
different areas around the world and people have known about it for thousands of years, but the
studies were furthered in the 19th century (guides.library.harvard.edu). Though it is known that
most creatures that emit bioluminescent light inhabit the deep sea, the

having to work and paint for other businesses but that s what he had to do to keep his apartment.
Luckily for him, he was 43 years old when he had enough money to quit the job and focus on his

American Art World to a new kind of experimental art of Europe. Getting an invitation to this

The Value Of A Country s Currency
In the world, every country has its own level of production and consumption of goods and services
called the economy. The economic activities allow each country to have its currency valued against
other currencies and this is called exchange rate. When you borrow money, there is a charge that
you pay in return on top of the borrowed amount called interest. Interest is usually calculated as per
annum and it influences exchange rates.
The value of a country s currency is affected by a cocktail of activities such as political stability,
productivity, inflation and many other things. Holding all other things constant, if a country s
interest rate change, this will affect its exchange rates, for example if the interest rates of the United
States dollar (US$) rises more than the British Pound, the US$ will become more powerful
compared to the British pound. In theory, if interest rates of a country increase, the money of that
country will become more valuable, but as I said above, many other things also influence the
exchange rates meaning that interest rate alone will not be good enough to determine the exchange
rate of a currency. The demand for goods produced by a country has a major impact too on the
performance of the country s currency. Counties whose goods are on high demand on an
international market can increase their interest rate too to make their currency hold high value. The
more valuable a currency is, the more it becomes on demand internationally. Because USA has a

Heinz Ketchup
A Heinz Ketchup advertisement shows sliced tomatoes stacked haphazardly to form the general
shape of a bottle of ketchup. Towards the bottom of the frame, there is a crisp text that reads, No
one grows ketchup like Heinz. Through the analyzation of this advertisement, it becomes apparent
that it is effective and interesting in many different aspects, including form, content and style.
The form of this advertisement reflects the artist s intentions of making the product, Heinz ketchup,
seem healthier. For example, the lines throughout are very clean and crisp, which gives an air of
freshness about the piece. Further, the implied shape of the ketchup bottle through stacked tomato
slices is an innovative way for the artist to show that Heinz ketchup is made of just that, fresh
tomatoes. Also, both the foreground and background use a very strong color palette of red and
white with slight green accents to assist with the fresh feeling of the piece. With the way the space
on the page is handled, there is a very obvious focal point on the center of the page, focused on the
implied ketchup bottle. Using this simplistic composition shows the intention of the artist to leave
this advertisement feeling fresh and simple. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The implied bottle of ketchup in the advertisement showcases the content simply and
straightforwardly. Additionally, by using the word grow in accompaniment with the image of fresh
tomatoes reinforces the idea that Heinz ketchup is fresh and healthy. Through the iconography of
the ketchup bottle, the advertisement shows the viewer that Heinz is a fresh, clean, and healthy

When to buy and sell stocks is a question that has been asked by traders and investors since stock
markets were invented. There are literally thousands of ways to trade stocks and make a profit. The
problem is that most investors do not have the technical skills or knowledge to obtain historical
stock market data and then back test all of these strategies to find out which one will work best.
Another problem is that in certain conditions, some strategies will perform better than others. With
this in mind, keeping your trading strategy as simple as possible, and then following it with strict
discipline, is the way to go.
One of the best general models for trading stocks that will produce significant long term profits (if
applied to the correct stocks) is a trend following strategy. Trend following strategies essentially
buy a stock when it breaks out to a new high price of some level, and then exits the position at a
low price. This actually sounds like buy high and sell low but the goal is actually to buy high and
sell higher. This is counter to what most

Founders are able to maintain control of the startup. As theyput their blood sweat into their startup;
the thought of losing control is frightening and this structure gives them comfort
2.Other smaller stockholders are not be able to collectively overrule the founder on company
decisions
3.Allows strong leadership to put long term interests first while seeing beyond the near term
financial situation
4.Ownership stakes in managers hands tend to improve corporate performance
Cons:
1.Might scare off potential investors or even future hires
2.Allows a small group of privileged shareholders to maintain control while others (with less voting
power) provide the majority of the capital.
3.Heavy voting control by insiders weakens the corporate structure
4.These stocks tend to under perform
E.g.: If a founder has a 10 to 1 multiple then he or she only needs a smaller percentage to maintain
control, much smaller than 50% anyways. This is why the structure is so appealing.
Cross Ownership:
Cross Ownership is a method in which a company owns stocks of the companies with which it
does business. It is used to reinforce business relationships. Heavy cross ownership is also called as
circular ownership Company A holds stock of Company B and vice versa.

Taking a Look at Joan of Arc
For centuries women have been discriminated against and perceived as either housewives or
maids. There have been so many stereotypes suggesting that some women actually believe they are
inferior to men. The actuality of this is women are capable of most things men can do and even
more. One of the absolute greatest examples of this theory was Joan of Arc. She started a movement
that most men could never dream of creating. Without her France might have submitted to
English rule centuries ago. Joan of Arc was a courageous, divine woman who altered French
history and even influenced many of today s events. FIrst, before comprehending Joan s
significance one must understand the environment in which she grew up. Almost eighty years
before Joan was born, Edward III of England refused to give respects to Phillip VI of France. As
a result of this intolerable act Phillip VI withdrew the lands of Aquitaine, which were given as a
gift, from the English. When news of this thievery reached Edward III he angrily claimed
himself king of the French. Conflicts between the Kingdom of England and the French Empire
escalated. By 1337 war was declared and the Hundred Years War began. The Hundred Years War
is divided into three different phases resulting from treaties and conflicts. These three phases are
The Edwardian Era War, The Caroline War, and The Lancastrian War. Joan spent most of her life
during The Lancastrian War (English decline in France). In 1415, King Henry V of England
defeated

Youth Sports Argumentative
Participation in sports by children and adolescents is associated with a range of documented
physical, emotional, social, educational, and other benefits that can last into adulthood. But
increasingly, many young people opt out of sports, while others are locked out due to a lack of
resources or access to community programs. Health and other needs go unmet. The U.S.
government produces limited data on sport participation and physical activity rates, and none on
youth before high school age. The strongest data is generated through an annual household
survey conducted by the Sports Fitness Industry Association (SFIA). In 2008, 30.2% of youth
ages 6 to 12 were active to a healthy level through sports, organized or unstructured; by 2015, that
number had dropped to 26.6%, according to SFIA. Among 13 to 17 year olds, the rate fell from
42.7% to 39.3%. I believe, teens and younger children shouldn t be restricted from playing sports
in school because it keeps you healthy, builds knowledge, and is helping give better self esteem.
The first reason why kids should be able to play sports is that it keeps them healthy. According to
Facts: Sports Activity and Children by the Aspen Institute, ВЁSports participation is a significant
predictor of young adults participation in sports and physical fitness activities. Adolescents who
play sports are eight times as likely to be active at age 24 as adolescents who do

As the essential criteria of offer, acceptance, consideration and intention is present, Alice has
entered into a consumer contract for the shoes and sunglasses. Alice also entered into a
consumer contract when purchasing the bag off the internet, however the offer would have
been classed as accepted once Alice received confirmation via email (The Consumer Contracts
(Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013). Capacity to contract is
also present for the purchases made. This ascertains Alice will have protection by law for any
misrepresentations made before entering in to the contracts or breaches made to the terms of
the consumer contracts. Alice s first problem involves the purchase of shoes. She reports the
first time she wore the new shoes she took two steps and one of the heels snapped off. The
SOGA 1979 s.14 states, there is an implied term that the goods supplied under the contract are of
satisfactory quality . Defining satisfactory s.14 (2A) of the SOGA 1979 states goods must meet
the standard that any reasonable person would regard as satisfactory (SOGA 1979). The
description of a reasonable person as defined in the case of Hall v Brooklands Auto Racing Club
[1933] is that he is the ordinary man, the average man on the street. More recently in the case of

  • 2. Anne Frank Wrote about the Good Underneath Anne Frank once wrote Despite everything, I believe that people are still really good at heart and I personally agree with this statement. Anne Frank was a Dutch, Jewish girl who went into hiding during the Holocaust. She and her family were hiding from the Nazis in the time of World War II. The Jewish were one of the people to starve in Hitler s Hunger Plan. Anne during her time in hiding wrote in her diary that in today s time is published. Sadly, after a few years of hiding, she was arrested and died at a concentration camp. Her words however still affect our time and rings out. She s able to see the light through all the darkness and that s where her quote comes and it rings true. People are really good at heart. People show goodness in many ways whether the gesture be big or small. In The Last Seven Months of Anne Frank, Willy Lindwer interviewed Hannah Elisa Pick Goslar who was a personal friend of Anne. Hannah at the time was going through a rough part in her life. She lost her father and her sister was ill. When she went to Burgen Belsen, she was reunited with Anne. She (Hannah Elisa Pick Goslar) would stand outside the fence and the two would speak to each other. Anne believed her father was dead along with her mother. Hannah of course didn t know their whereabouts. However to provide relief to Anne, with the goodness of her heart, she threw packages of food over the fence. She did this four times before Anne got moved to another part of the camp. This act of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Harry Potter Character Analysis serves to accentuate Hagrid s maternal role throughout the series. Hagrid serves not only as a mother to these dangerous, isolated magical creatures, but he also serves as a maternal figure to Harry who shows some of the same characteristics. Throughout the series, there are several points where Harry is seen as dangerous. For example, in The Chamber of Secrets, Harry is suspected to be the heir of Slytherin because he can speak parseltongue, and everybody thinks he is dangerous. Also, in the fifth book, The Daily Prophet promotes that Harry and Dumbledore are dangerous and manipulative because they re trying to draw attention to the fact that Lord Voldemort had returned. The Care of Magical Creatures class formed many other connections with characters, but it also connects to and shows several real world political styles. It was mentioned earlier that this magical institution connects not only to the characters and events throughout the Harry Potter series, but also to real world political styles and lessons. One of the real world political styles that the Care of Magical Creatures class exemplifies is that of populism. The populist political style is exemplified through the intervention of the Ministry of Magic in the incident between Draco Malfoy and Buckbeak. Normally the Ministry will not interfere if a student gets injured. For example, when Harry s arm was broken because of his jinxed broom, the Ministry never jumped in to try and solve what happened or to inflict a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Case Analysis Of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Product Offering BABAJIDE .O. BANKOLE MBAA 523 March 8TH, 2015 EMBRY RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY INTRODUCTION The product or service offered by a firm is to a large extent determined by the market segment the firm wants to capture. And in most cases, when the firm knows what segment of the market they want to capture, it makes the decision of their product offering easier. A good way to further explain this would be to consider two movie theaters one operating near a university campus and one located in the down town part of the city, the cinema close to the school would easily identify their market as student and offer price ranges and viewing times that are tailored to suit the lifestyle of a student while the cinema operating downtown might not be incline to pursue that same strategy they can price their can decide to sell their tickets at a higher price because they are not targeting the same markets. Although this paper isn t about movies, the example above I hope show how the segments the company is targeting sometimes helps determine the product the company offers. In the airline industry, the two major market segments that can be readily identified are, (1) the Business travelers and (2) the Leisure traveler. This two segments to a large extent help airlines decide where to focus the first segment is driven by high ticket prices which helps airlines maximize the airlines yield ... The Collapse Of The Space Shuttle Before Columbia In the year of 2003, on February 1, a tragic accident had occurred in the atmosphere above Texas as the space shuttle called Columbia was on it s way to land at the Kennedy Space Center. The shuttle itself was on its 28th mission and was just one of the five space shuttles that was used amongst NASA. There were seven astronauts that were inside the shuttle. Their names were Rick Husband, David Brown, Michael Anderson, Laurel Clark, William McCool, Kalpana Chawla, and Ilan Ramon. They had all died in an explosion within the shuttle itself. NASA was trying to figure out how this could ve happened. They ran through many possibilities of what could ve gone wrong and they came to the conclusion that the reason the shuttle had exploded when coming through the atmosphere was because a chunk of foam hilt a wing of the craft. This was suspected to be the reason when tape was analyzed of the takeoff before Columbia went into space. NASA wanted to know if it was the real reason but didn t want anyone else to know of the issues besides them. The Department of Defense had asked permission from the people working for NASA to use orbital spy cameras to analyze the problem. • 11. Essay On Bowling For Columbine Shooting Although many people think that Americans are gun nuts, in reality they re just all nuts. This realization was shown in the documentary Bowling for Columbine by Michael Moore. Throughout the film Michael Moore shows us many examples of why America has problems with guns. However after watching one realizes that the problem isn t with guns but within the American people instead. When the film first begins we see Michael Moore going to a bank a getting a rifle from a bank just for opening a bank account. Shortly after that there is a montage of people selling guns and the violence that comes from it. This shows just how easy it is getting a gun is in America which was an effective way in proving how America is just nuts. Not only is it an irresponsible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another within the documentary says that Marilyn Manson and violent computer games/movies is to blame for the Columbine shootings. Germany has a considerably larger amount of goth population when compared to the US but their gun violence is twenty nine times less than the US . Japan also watches very violent movies and plays a lot of violent video games, however their gun related deaths are two hundred and eighty five times less than ours. The last and probably most important case the president of the NRA. Not only did he have the audacity to have a gun riot just days after a gun related incident he refused to apologize for it and walked away. This truly shows how America really are just full of nuts. However even though the film showed us the despair that is America s gun problems it also showed us a shred of hope. However, symptoms begin to appear during adolescence or early adulthood and may be triggered by changes in the brain during puberty. The first signs of the illness include anxiety, depression, changes in friends, sleep problems, irritability, dropping grades, and having trouble concentrating (Picchioni and Murray, 2007; National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)). They found that among the loci that they identified, there was no evidence of non additive or epistatic effects. 75% of the 108 loci identified in this study include genes that code for proteins and an additional 8% are located within 20kb of a gene. They found that there was an association with CACNA1C, CACNB2, and CACNA1I, which code for subunits of voltage gated calcium channels and have been suggested to play a role in other psychiatric disorders in addition to schizophrenia. Quantitative trait loci, those that regulate the expression of mRNA, were also implicated in conferring a risk for schizophrenia. There were also higher levels of expression of schizophrenia risk genes in tissues associated with immune function, which supports the hypothesis that immune dysregulation plays a role in schizophrenia. They also found that copy number variations that were linked to schizophrenia overlapped with those that are associated with autism spectrum disorder and other intellectual disabilities (Schizophrenia Working Group of the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium, 2014). • 13. Comparing The 1971 White Paper On Defence And The 2008... The purpose of this paper is to compare the 1971 White Paper on Defence and the 2008 Canada First Defence Strategy. More specifically, this paper will compare the strategic environment, Canada s greatest allies, the alliances Canada supported, and Canada s security and defence priorities in the 1970s and under the CanadaFirst Defence Strategy (CFDS). As this paper will demonstrate, the key differences witnessed in the 1971 White Paper on Defence and in the 2008 Canada First Defence Strategy is in terms of the specificities of the foreign and defence policy presented, the perceived types of threats to national and international security, and the Canadian Forces capability to respond to such major challenges. However, both the 1971 White Paper and the 2008 CFDS clearly demonstrate that the Canadian Forces are there first to defend Canada and Canadians, then to defend North America in cooperation with the United States, and finally to contribute to international security. Furthermore, both papers emphasize on the importance of defence policy in achieving foreign policy objectives. Global Strategic Environment When assessing the global strategic environment, the major changes between 1971 and now is the types of perceived threats to national and international security. Gimpel in Gimpel the Fool by Isaac Bashevis Singer is, contrary to what the title implies, not a fool because of his morals, his faith in God, and his unshakable faith in humanity and human goodness. Gimpel considers himself a self induced fool, so to speak. He is totally aware of the fact that the townspeople mock and play jokes on him he almost encourages them to do so. But this, and the fact that Gimpel is so conscious of how the townspeople all peg him as the town idiot, is exactly what makes him the opposite of a fool. This trait makes Gimpel not only courageous, but selfless. Throughout the story, Gimpel s faith in God is tried and tried through multiple obstacles and complications. But despite the whole world seeming to be against him, his faith in God and His powers remains unwavering and true. In the beginning of the story, writer Daniel Fraustino notes that Gimpel is able to weather [the townspeople s] humiliation through his simple faith in God and the Bible. It is hard to believe that anyone could withstand such faith in any higher power with all the trickery that Gimpel is forced to face, but he perseveres. When Elka, Gimpel s wife, births a child only 4 months into their marriage, Gimpel is skeptical of whether or not the child could be his. He tells her, You have borne a bastard (280). Gimpel continues to be unconvinced, To tell the plain truth, I didn t believe her (281), until he speaks with the school master and he told [Gimpel] that the very same thing had happened to Adam and Eve (281). Later on, Gimpel catches his wife sleeping with another man beside her. Instead of confronting Elka about the man, he goes to the rabbi. In all mediums of storytelling alike, there is always the question of if the author is being truthful about the information they are giving. This includes the lessons told through the story of morality in fiction, historical fiction, or anything related to such topics. Consequently, most books read in popular culture have a lesson; novels are a form of education. An example of this has been shown through Sherman Alexie s Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven. However, all of the stories listed with moral lessons are for children. That brings a question; do adult and young adult novels all have similar lessons to be taught? Many novels, like 1984 by George Orwell as well as Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie, focus on the time frame and culture the novel was written in. 1984 is a book that focuses on a dystopian society in Oceana. Big Brother controls every citizens thoughts, actions, memories, etc., in order to achieve a perfect dictatorial society. Though it was written in 1944, during World War II, where the dictatorship of Stalin (who Big Brother was based off of) was prevalent, it is still read to this very day. Most would argue that it is read simply for the classical aesthetic purpose, but while that still may be true, it is still read due to the fact that society has not learned the lessons taught in the novel. In the month of January, 1984 shot to No. 1 on Amazon s best seller list [that] week... (Kakutani, Why 1984 Is a 2017 Must Read) after Sean Spicer describes lies and the facts that went against the evident truth as Alternative Facts . This struck something in many people that brought them to draw a connection to the novel in discussion. At one point in the play a group of bugs perform a tap dance. This scene was comical, but the tapping was outstanding. Most of the actors are accomplished singers, actors, and dancers with a lot of previous experience. Many of them have attended performing art schools and not only rehearse their main role, but also understudy 2 to 3 other characters. The actors are all well practiced, which is evident in the quality of the show. I would strongly recommend this play to anyone who loves music, dance, and/or cats. The main two places in the novel are the City and the Uncharted Forest which both have similarities and differences. A similarity between the City and Uncharted Forest is that both have houses and towards the end of the book also that people are living in both places (Rand 88 89). The effect of that event shapes the perception of different contributors of society. In the mid 1930 s the Great Depression was a major event that had a significant outcome that changed the perception of the economy. It made individuals more aware and cautious about their finances. Along with making individuals more cautious it also shaped the United Stateseconomically. Less than a century before, a similar occurrence took place in the United States. Manifest Destiny allowed for the repercussion of the Ghost Dance. Manifest Destiny constructed how Native Americans now view Americans while also shaping their culture traditions. The idea of Manifest Destiny and the act of the Indian Removal was used as a guide in the future to change the way the United States dealt peacefully with situations. These events and the outcomes lead to the United States having the American Dream and allowing everyone freedom and opportunity. There is a cause and effect relationship between Manifest Destiny and the Ghost Dance because the Ghost Dance was a response, in the form of a theodicy, that showed the European Americans the destruction they caused by force removing the Native Americans from the West. Is the truth in a true story what the writer experienced, or the truth of what really happened? If the story is about other people, is the truth what the writer sees them do, or what they think they are doing? If the writer does not know the whole truth, does the story become false? Everything from the declared goal of the anthropologist to the approach to possible objectivity or subjectivity of the anthropologist s writing, from views on the concept of culture to the ethnography s intended audience, even to choice of topic to explore, has changed. I will explore these differences using Coming of Age in Samoa by Margaret Mead as an example of traditional ethnography, and Poetics of Military Occupation by Smadar Lavie as an example of postmodern ethnography. Veiled Sentiments by Lila Abu Lughod will serve as something of a mix, poised between the two extremes. I must first, however, explain my choice of postmodern as a label for the kind of ethnography that Smadar Lavie produced in 1990 (based on fieldwork done throughout the 70 s). The aspect of postmodernism that I embrace in characterizing Poetics of Military Occupation as postmodern is postmodernism s abandonment of the concept of an absolute truth. When asked what bioluminescence is, that person probably could not answer the question. It is actually the chemical process that certain organisms are able to use in order to synthesize and emit light, but most people just identify these organisms as glowing animals, glowing plants, and glowing organisms. Most people have seen these glowing animals in action under the sea, considering that most organisms that use bioluminescence live in the depths of the sea. Today, it seems normal and typical for an animal in the deep sea to glow, but thousands of years ago, it was all but a mystery. The idea that natural light could be emitted from a living organismfascinated those throughout the field of science. • 39. The Value Of A Country s Currency In the world, every country has its own level of production and consumption of goods and services called the economy. The economic activities allow each country to have its currency valued against other currencies and this is called exchange rate. When you borrow money, there is a charge that you pay in return on top of the borrowed amount called interest. Interest is usually calculated as per annum and it influences exchange rates. The value of a country s currency is affected by a cocktail of activities such as political stability, productivity, inflation and many other things. Holding all other things constant, if a country s interest rate change, this will affect its exchange rates, for example if the interest rates of the United States dollar (US$) rises more than the British Pound, the US$ will become more powerful compared to the British pound. In theory, if interest rates of a country increase, the money of that country will become more valuable, but as I said above, many other things also influence the exchange rates meaning that interest rate alone will not be good enough to determine the exchange rate of a currency. The demand for goods produced by a country has a major impact too on the performance of the country s currency. Counties whose goods are on high demand on an international market can increase their interest rate too to make their currency hold high value. The more valuable a currency is, the more it becomes on demand internationally. Because USA has a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Towards the bottom of the frame, there is a crisp text that reads, No one grows ketchup like Heinz. Through the analyzation of this advertisement, it becomes apparent that it is effective and interesting in many different aspects, including form, content and style. The form of this advertisement reflects the artist s intentions of making the product, Heinz ketchup, seem healthier. For example, the lines throughout are very clean and crisp, which gives an air of freshness about the piece. Further, the implied shape of the ketchup bottle through stacked tomato slices is an innovative way for the artist to show that Heinz ketchup is made of just that, fresh tomatoes. Also, both the foreground and background use a very strong color palette of red and white with slight green accents to assist with the fresh feeling of the piece. With the way the space on the page is handled, there is a very obvious focal point on the center of the page, focused on the implied ketchup bottle. Using this simplistic composition shows the intention of the artist to leave this advertisement feeling fresh and simple. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are literally thousands of ways to trade stocks and make a profit. The problem is that most investors do not have the technical skills or knowledge to obtain historical stock market data and then back test all of these strategies to find out which one will work best. Another problem is that in certain conditions, some strategies will perform better than others. With this in mind, keeping your trading strategy as simple as possible, and then following it with strict discipline, is the way to go. One of the best general models for trading stocks that will produce significant long term profits (if applied to the correct stocks) is a trend following strategy. Trend following strategies essentially buy a stock when it breaks out to a new high price of some level, and then exits the position at a low price. This actually sounds like buy high and sell low but the goal is actually to buy high and sell higher. This is counter to what most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Taking a Look at Joan of Arc For centuries women have been discriminated against and perceived as either housewives or maids. There have been so many stereotypes suggesting that some women actually believe they are inferior to men. The actuality of this is women are capable of most things men can do and even more. One of the absolute greatest examples of this theory was Joan of Arc. She started a movement that most men could never dream of creating. Without her France might have submitted to English rule centuries ago. Joan of Arc was a courageous, divine woman who altered French history and even influenced many of today s events. FIrst, before comprehending Joan s significance one must understand the environment in which she grew up. Almost eighty years before Joan was born, Edward III of England refused to give respects to Phillip VI of France. As a result of this intolerable act Phillip VI withdrew the lands of Aquitaine, which were given as a gift, from the English. When news of this thievery reached Edward III he angrily claimed himself king of the French. Conflicts between the Kingdom of England and the French Empire escalated. By 1337 war was declared and the Hundred Years War began. The Hundred Years War is divided into three different phases resulting from treaties and conflicts. These three phases are The Edwardian Era War, The Caroline War, and The Lancastrian War. Joan spent most of her life during The Lancastrian War (English decline in France). In 1415, King Henry V of England defeated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But increasingly, many young people opt out of sports, while others are locked out due to a lack of resources or access to community programs. Health and other needs go unmet. The U.S. government produces limited data on sport participation and physical activity rates, and none on youth before high school age. The strongest data is generated through an annual household survey conducted by the Sports Fitness Industry Association (SFIA). In 2008, 30.2% of youth ages 6 to 12 were active to a healthy level through sports, organized or unstructured; by 2015, that number had dropped to 26.6%, according to SFIA. Among 13 to 17 year olds, the rate fell from 42.7% to 39.3%. I believe, teens and younger children shouldn t be restricted from playing sports in school because it keeps you healthy, builds knowledge, and is helping give better self esteem. The first reason why kids should be able to play sports is that it keeps them healthy.
