This document describes canalicular adenoma, a benign salivary gland tumor that most often occurs in minor salivary glands. It is composed of columnar epithelial cells arranged in branching chords. Canalicular adenomas typically present as slow-growing, asymptomatic, rounded masses in older adults, especially women over 50 years old. Histopathological examination shows bilayered strands of columnar cells within a delicate stroma. Surgical excision is the treatment, and the prognosis is generally good though there is a 20% chance of multifocality or recurrence.
