MicroTec is developing a new protein called Universal Protein from microalgae. Universal Protein offers several advantages over traditional whey and soy proteins, including no lactose, casein or allergens. It is high quality, tastes good, and contains micronutrients. MicroTec uses a proprietary bioreactor process that increases productivity 10x while reducing costs 10x, making production eco-sustainable with no CO2 emissions. Market tests show consumer and industry interest in Universal Protein for its health, cleanliness and suitability for various diets. MicroTec's business plan involves market tests in 2016-2017, factory design and construction in 2017-2018, and commercial production and sales starting in 2019.
