AUTOMATIC FIRE
DETECTOR
ALARM AND EXTINGUISHER
This project is a prototype of an automatic fire alarm
and extinguishing system.
It works on the principle of detection of fire by
sensing rise in temperature, using a Thermostat.
As soon as the fire is detected the circuit becomes
live thereby giving an audio alarm and
simultaneously activating fire extinguishing
system.
COMPONENTS REQUIRED
1. Resistors-
1. 330k
2. 1k
3. 0.22k
2. Capacitors
1. 0.04uf
3. Transistors
1. PNP-369
2. NPN-548
4. Diode
1. 1N 4007
5. Buzzer
6. Fire Switch
7. LED bulb
8. PCB –Printed Circuit Board

10. Water Pump
11. Transformer
Function-A thermostat is a component
of a control system which senses
the temperature of a system so that the system's
temperature is maintained near a desired setpoint.
The name is derived from the Greek words
thermos "hot" and statos "a standing".
Use-To detect the heat produced by the fire.
 THERMOSTAT
PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD(PCB)
 Function-A printed circuit
board (PCB) mechanically supports
and electrically connects electronic
components using conductive tracks.
WATER PUMP
 Function-A water pump is a device
that moves water by mechanical
action.
 Use-To extinguish the fire
BUZZER
 Function-A buzzer or beeper is
an audio signalling device, which
may
be mechanical, electromechanical,
or piezoelectric.
 Use-To alert people in the case of a
fire.
TRANSFORMER
 Function-A transformer is a static
electrical device that transfers
energy by inductive
coupling between its winding
circuits.
 Use-To convert 220V AC to 9V AC
FULL WAVE RECTIFIER
 Function-A full-wave rectifier
converts the whole of the input
waveform to one of constant polarity
(positive or negative) at its output.
 Use-To convert AC to DC

Circuit Diagram- Water Level
Application
Our project can be chiefly used to detect
and extinguish fire to prevent the fire
from causing any damage. Moreover,
our project not only focuses on the
extinguishing part but also on water
conservation which we have achieved
using the water level indicator. So
safety and conservation go hand-in-
hand.
Problem Faced
 Gathering the components.
 Making the connections on the bread
board.
 Finding a DC water pump .
 Converting AC current to DC(We
couldn’t convert the same) .
Conclusion
By using our “Fire Alarm and extinguisher”, we were
able to achieve our desired purpose.
