Comprehend, summarize, and recreate the assigned Solar Decathlon project (selected
from one of the 2013 projects: http://www.solardecathlon.gov/past/2013/teams.html).
Learning objectives:
1. Comprehend the design and gather information through studying the plans
(“Construction Drawings”) and document (“Project Manual”) for your assigned
project.
2. Organize the gathered information and present the design in a way that is
appropriate for its purpose as defined in this project description.
The project is divided into two parts. Part 1: Presentation of a technology, and Part 2:
Presentation of the construction drawings.
Note:
This is a team project of 5 students (minimum 4 students). All team members must
equally contribute to the project and share equal responsibility for the quality of work
(see Individual Grading Scheme). If this is not the case, the students must inform the
course instructor before the submission of the final report.
Part 1: Presentation of a technology
The “Project Manual” presented certain technologies that each of the Solar Decathlon
teams has selected to address certain environmental or energy issues. Base on the many
technologies presented, your team has to select a technology that is of interest to you.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

- 1. SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE, BUILDING AND DESIGN BACHELOR OF QUANTITY SURVEYING (HONOURS) MARCH 2018 BUILDING ECONOMICS ASSIGNMENT Assignment Brief: You are part of an established Multidisciplinary group of consultants. The client is a developer from Singapore and he wants to invest in a piece of land in Kuala Lumpur. He has paid for your services to come up with a Cost Plan for him. You are require to:- 1. Work out a cost plan for him based on the information provided (30 marks) You are to show your breakdown of the cost appraisal and justify your assumptions when asked at the Q & A. 2. Presentations shall be by power point (between 10-15 slides) and a soft copy shall be emailed to ShirleyAiLing.Chin@taylor.edu.my by 12.00noon 20th June 2018. 3. You shall illustrate your cost calculations in a 10 minutes presentation plus a 10 minutes Q & A. As this will be presentation to the client, marks will be awarded on: i. Showmanship, and presentation (10 marks) ii. Style of presentation (10 marks) iii. Conciseness and accuracy (10 marks) iv. Ability to answer question convincingly and correctly (10 marks) 4. You shall show your benchmark projects (if any) to justify the cost of the building. Marks will be awarded for sound basis for benchmarking (10 marks) 5. You shall print your detailed cost appraisal, showing quantity and rates and print them in A3 size sheet. 1 sheet only (10 marks) 6. You shall provide concise A3 size sheet (1 sheet only) with pictures and/or write-ups on any construction technology, methodology and technique, including but not limiting to materials used with the unit cost. (10 marks)

Font size shall be a readable font (not small) Please note that at the end of the assignment, a copy of peer evaluation forms will be given to all for valuation of their team members’ contribution and effort in the project. Hardcopy Submission You will need to submit a hard copy report comprising the followings:- Part 1: Introduction Introduction to proposed site. You will need to highlight all the key features of the proposed site and its surroundings with appropriate sketches and plan. A list of client’s and project requirements will need to be attached in the report. Part 2: Construction Cost Produced a cost plan for proposed project in an A3 size paper indicating all necessary cost as per template. You will need to submit the basis of your assumptions and the source of your cost data. You will need to provide a summary of each major section (eg. preliminary, structures, architecture, M & E, contingencies) in this part. Part 3: Conclusion You are also required to submit all necessary peer evaluations together with this report.
- 3. REQUIREMENTS 1. All font should be in Arial 12 font with 1.5 spacing. 2. Front cover - University logo, name, ID number, Semester Intake, Course, Module & Lecturer 3. All submission should be in comb bind. 4. The coursework should not should not exceed 4,000 words. 5. Credit will be given to analytical discussion rather than mere presentation of facts. 6. Details of the case study should be stated clearly. 7. List of references should be stated clearly.
