Landscape Project Proposal
40% Individual (5% Progress Marks + 35% Final Marks)
Submission: 27th November 2015, Friday (Week 16)
Introduction
Projects in landscape architecture progress through stages, from the very first contact with the client
and awareness of the site, through to the realization, construction and maturation of the finished design.
It is important to remember that the design process, unlike a timeline, is often completely non-linear.
The phrase “back to the drawing board” refers to the continual process of testing and retesting that is
characteristic of the architectures.
In the planning of a landscape, there are not only the space is matters but also integration between
natural site component with its landscape environs. Since the area to be developed is small in scale, the
design will take into account all positive qualities of the site – the ground forms, cover, exposures,
views, and all other natural or architectural features – and bring them into harmony.
“The earth is our home and the ways of nature our paths to understanding”.
[Simonds, J. O.]
Objectives of Project
The objectives of this project:
 To acquire knowledge about design process, planning and development of project.
 To proffer exposure of small scale landscape project to the students.
 To familiarize students about the design stages and how to visualize their ideas onto
presentation boards.
Learning Outcomes of this Project
On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to demonstrate the following:
1. A design process involved in landscape project development and the representation of ideas
for every stage taken.
2. Understanding on landscape design components and how it works and has been applied into
the field.
2
Tasks - Methodology
As a group (original group in Project 2 – not to create a new one), you are to choose one site of the
following. Each site has different contextual settings in which should be designated evenly among all
members in the group. Each member should get ONE site EACH.

Individually, you are to propose a landscape design for the above given site. The site should be within
500,000mm2 to 600,000mm2 and the site context should be between 50m radius. You need to
create your own site context with reference to the above setting and to include boundary and access to
the site.
Imagine that you are going to present the project proposal to a client which requires you to prepare ALL
drawings for every development stages as following;
A. PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Should contain information of;
- A short paragraph of your design statement which explaining about the ideas, rationale of
the design and concept of the design. The narration should briefly describe, constructive
and informative.
- Location plan to show the location of your site. It can be directly downloaded from google
earth (not google map) with clear indication of the location.
- Site plan which needs to be developed by yourself. It must be somehow corresponding with
the site contextual setting as assigned to each site earlier.
3
B. CONCEPTUAL DIAGRAM
Should have;
- Bubble diagram is an ideation process that used as a means to show spaces and activities
that you want to propose.
- Conceptual diagram is a process to detail up bubble diagram which correlates with the
site. All ideas in bubble diagram need to transfer to conceptual diagram (which overlay with
base plan). You are to compose all elements and to consider about form composition,
shape and pattern of the design. You may provide sketches/ illustrations (sections/
elevations) to better represent your ideas.
C. MASTER PLAN
Before you proceed to this stage, you need to attain approval of the plan from your respective
tutors. In this stage, you need to produce master plan set of drawings which include;
- Master plan
- Elevation & Section
- Perspective
- Hardscape Palette
- Softscape Palette
**Note:
A self-independent study is required for presentation layout, architectural lettering and colouring. Do
save images from internet or scan from books for ideas collection and inspirations.
Submission Requirement

comb/spring binding it.
2. You need to provide ALL of the following;
- Project Description
- Location Plan (not to scale)
- Site Plan (to determine the appropriate scale)
- Bubble Diagram (not to scale)
- Conceptual Plan (to determine the appropriate scale)
- Master Plan (scale 1:100)
- 1 Whole Stretch of Elevation (scale 1:100) & 1 Section (scale 1:50)
- 1 Perspective (not to scale)
- Hardscape & Softscape Palette

Landscape project proposal

  • 1. 1 SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE, BUILDING & DESIGN Research Unit for Modern Architecture Studies in Southeast Asia Foundation of Natural Build Environment (FNBE) CONSTRUCTED LANDSCAPE [ARC30203] Prerequisite: None Lecturer: Noorul Iffa Mohd Nayan & Shazrene Nurjanna Samsudin Final Project Landscape Project Proposal 40% Individual (5% Progress Marks + 35% Final Marks) Submission: 27th November 2015, Friday (Week 16) Introduction Projects in landscape architecture progress through stages, from the very first contact with the client and awareness of the site, through to the realization, construction and maturation of the finished design. It is important to remember that the design process, unlike a timeline, is often completely non-linear. The phrase “back to the drawing board” refers to the continual process of testing and retesting that is characteristic of the architectures. In the planning of a landscape, there are not only the space is matters but also integration between natural site component with its landscape environs. Since the area to be developed is small in scale, the design will take into account all positive qualities of the site – the ground forms, cover, exposures, views, and all other natural or architectural features – and bring them into harmony. “The earth is our home and the ways of nature our paths to understanding”. [Simonds, J. O.] Objectives of Project The objectives of this project:  To acquire knowledge about design process, planning and development of project.  To proffer exposure of small scale landscape project to the students.  To familiarize students about the design stages and how to visualize their ideas onto presentation boards. Learning Outcomes of this Project On successful completion of this subject, students will be able to demonstrate the following: 1. A design process involved in landscape project development and the representation of ideas for every stage taken. 2. Understanding on landscape design components and how it works and has been applied into the field.
