`` Goodbye, Earl `` By Dennis Linde And Performed By The...
Set in the American South, the song Goodbye, Earl, written by Dennis Linde and performed by the
Dixie Chicks, is a comedic story of vengeance and retribution. Best friends throughout high school,
Wanda and Mary Anne part ways after graduation, but eventually meet back up to murder Earl, the
abusive husband of Wanda. Using double entendres, strong imagery, and a light tone, Linde and the
Dixie Chicksconveyed the strength of Southern women through their song, but also created
controversy with a divisive music video. By naming one of the characters Mary Anne, the writer
immediately evokes a sense of Southern lineage. Almost unheard of in other regions, double names
are incredibly popular in the American south. On the other hand, the name Wanda etymologically
means a Wend. While Mary Anne had been the one out of the two to physically leave after
graduation lookin for a bright new world, Wanda wends all around town and stumbles upon Earl.
In this aspect, Wanda does not choose to be in an abusive relationship she falls into it.
Additionally, the song mentions that both women were members of the 4H club and active
members in the FFA. Both of these organizations are well known youth development groups with
academic advancement and leadership goals. Placing a great importance on community activism,
Southern women are expected to be active participants in the community and at school. Differing in
life goals, Mary Anne ventured out into the world while Wanda stayed in

SpaceX Satellite Launch Planned for Today
If all goes well in today s SpaceX satellite launch, Turkmenistan (en.wikipedia.org/wiki
/Turkmenistan ) will have its first communications satellite placed into orbit this evening. The
satellite is scheduled to travel into space at 6:14pm EST, with a 60 percent change of good
weather in the forecast. Turkmenistan used to be part of the Soviet republic, and is now considered
as belonging to Central Asia.
The main concern with the weather would be the chance of clouds obscuring the satellite launch,
and should this occur, the mission would have to be rescheduled for another date with better
conditions, but officials are hoping that will not be necessary.
The satellite launch will be conducted from Florida s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

supposed to go up in November 2014, but was delayed due to checking out a possible problem with
the SpaceX rocket s helium pressurization system.
No Rocket Return Flight Planned This Trip
Unlike several previous attempts, SpaceX isn t going to try to have their Falcon 9 rocket travel
back to Earth and try to land on a target ship due to not having enough fuel this time around.
Previous attempts did not succeed in a successful landing on the target ship, which was tried to

one for every satellite launch. Each of the Falcon 9 rockets costs millions of dollars, so this would
be a significant savings once they are able to perfect the return landing

Eisenhower and Patton Comparison Essay
General Eisenhower and General Patton:
A Comparison
Zerrrouk (PN)
From a fiercely brave General, who strictly enforces customs, bravery, formalities, and success; to
a General with a lighthearted mood, down to earth attitude, a steadfast courage, and a integrity and
decency to lead the nations of the world into battle; while both these legendary Generals fought on
the same side, both General S. Patton and General D. Eisenhower were distinctly different
Generals. This paper seeks to outline the differences and similarities between the two Generals by
taking a close look at their lives, and the impacts they had on WWII.
George S. Patton was born on November 11th, 1885, in San Gabriel California. As Patton grew
older, he developed a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this action he was stripped of his command over the 2nd Armored Division in Africa. Patton
could not stand to have a soldier that was anything less than what he thought a true soldier should
represent. Patton believes that courage and fear are phenomena which can be governed by training
and discipline, and that fear is lost through intense training and patriotism. Patton did not hate his
men, but he didn t want to see his soldiers hospitalized as injured men with battle fatigue or
neurosis, but as a spectacle of American bravery. Visiting his troops in the hospital got him
emotional and he state once that, They re the best damned soldiers the world has ever seen. One
day I bawl the hell out of them and the next I weep over them.
Patton was relieved of active duty until he was summoned by Eisenhower to lead the 3rd American
army in the breakthrough Normandy. Eisenhower, more than anybody, knew the talents that Patton
had in war; and with the 3rd American Army, Patton cut through the German lines all the way to
Rennes, and then to Nantes, and then stopped at Metz for gas and munitions. Patton was always a
step ahead of everyone especially the Germans. After the push stopped, Patton was ordered to move
from Saar and attack General Von Rundstedt which was deemed impossible by others but not
Patton. After Rundstedt was captured, Rundstedt gave a high praise to Patton for his

Aggregate Demand and Supply Model
Aggregate Demand and Supply Model Economic Advisement With a nominal GDP estimated at
more than 15 trillion it is clearly the United States economy is one of the largest in the world. A
person must have lived in a cave underground for the past several years to not know that the current
state of the nation s economy is in desperate need of improvement. Many academic institutions have
thought about how the economy arrived at its current state and how can it be restored. Some would
advocate not using the same economic policies that created the current conditions of the economy.
Their philosophy is that if we stay the current course the economy would somehow miraculously
recover itself over a period of an unknown amount of time. These same... Show more content on

Consumer Income: Consumer income is an estimate of household income and is the government s
way of determining the median income of families; obviously the income is a key indicator of
consumer confidence. According to new data derived from the monthly Current Population Survey
(CPS) and ERSI, real median annual household income decreased by 7.9 % between 2010 and
2012, from $54,442 to $50,157 (Smartblog.org, 2012). The current decline in consumer income
comes after four consecutive monthly decreases in real median annual household income. The
annual household income suggested that the Population Survey report takes into account that some
information reflects modifications made as part of annual benchmarking adjustments to
compensate for missing data needed to complete the survey. The report also suggests that the
economy will continue to struggle slightly despite some encouraging news on unemployment
(Smartblo.org, 2012). But it is expected that the median household income will increase by 13.4%
or $56,895 by 2017 as the economy improve. Interest rates: Interest rates are the most important
relative prices of an economy. These influence the decisions of investors and consumers. They also
determine the level of income and employment in an economy. They are indicators that guide
consumers when they should invest and when they should save. Interest rates determine the present
and future consumption. If these are set at very low levels in real terms and even worse if

Tet Turning Point
Important congressional and media voices reacted with even greater skepticism toward
administration claims that Tet constituted an unequivocal military triumph for the United States.
The professional media correspondents basically did their job and reported the dramatic turn of
events as it was happening. Time, Newsweek, and U.S. News World Report, the country s three
leading weekly news magazines, characterized Tet as a major psychological setback for the United
States. Cronkite s stark evaluation was a turning point in America s reaction to the Tet attacks, just

After early 1968 it was evident that the United States would not soon or successfully conclude its
involvement in Indochina. The size and breadth of the attack were stunning enough, but the images
coming out of South Vietnam in the early days added to the shock and impact of the Tet Offensive.
Television reports showed the fighting on the embassy grounds, chaos in the streets of Saigon, the
assassination of an NLF prisoner by a South Vietnamese general on a Saigon street, and pitched
battles in other cities such as Hue, while the Associated Press reported an American officer in the
village of Ben Tre stating that, we had to destroy it in order to save it. As Kathleen Turner, author

Over 135,000 Venezuelans waited on an international bridge to enter Colombia so that they
could shop for food, toiletries, and medicine which are hardly available in any of the country s
stores. The government of Venezuela had closed the borders a year ago, but briefly ordered
them open twice this week. Governments made the decision to open the borders after 500
women, mostly dressed in white, broke through the border controls to buy food in Colombia on
July 10. Many of the Venezuelans sold their personal items to be able to afford food and

How I Met The Meta Cognition Knowledge Outcome
To: Professor Gillespie From: Matthew Carrano Date: April 28, 2017 Subject: Writing 220
I am writing this memo to illustrate how I met the meta cognition knowledge outcome. I will
evaluate all of my papers by assessing how I fixed my work, and what I did to improve them. I
will be taking specific elements out of my papers and reflecting upon them by looking for content
elements and my application of delivery skills.
Meta Cognition Outcome: Doc 1 and Doc 2
I met the meta cognition knowledge outcome by the topics of the first two documents. One way I
achieved this outcome was by addressing the topic s audience through your feedback. To change my
audience error, I went back to see your comment, apostrophe needed but not the informality. ...

By including the word slippery slope more in my paper, I was able to give you a better
understanding of what fallacy I was identifying and explaining.
I met the meta cognition outcome by understanding the following content elements in the first two
documents:
Generalized Fallacy ex. I do not explain a generalize fallacy well because you write this point s not
quite clear why dies our generalize the capital? I need to explain why our can be classified as a
fallacy. In your doc 1 description, you say, look for personal pronouns, a general group (Gillespie

a generalized fallacy.
Faulty Emotional Appeal Fallacy ex. To change my faulty emotional appeal explanation, I looked at
your comment, this sentence offers broad info and is it even true? I needed to change my sentence
around because it sounds informal, and I did not explain the fallacy well. A Faulty emotional
appeal can be defined as an assertion, emotional appeal, nowhere is there any evidence presented

and presented no evidence.

The Ultimate Entrepreneur Essay example
The Ultimate Entrepreneur
In 2002 it was reported that George W. Bush told the then prime minister Tony Blair that The
problem with the French is that they don t have a word for entrepreneur . Putting it kindly, this was
a mistake. Translated from French, an entrepreneur is someone who undertakes something. Of
course it carries a much wider meaning than that in the modern English definition. An entrepreneur
is someone who takes an idea and builds it into something great and successful. Someone with
vision, drive and creativity, and the will to make it happen, often against difficult odds. Or
certainly that s the general perception. Does this person have to be a genius? Above average
intelligence? What defines an entrepreneur really? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As an entrepreneur you re in the uncertainty business, so you need a high tolerance for risk. You
need to be willing to fail several times if necessary in order to get it right in the end, and you
need to be flexible in your thinking. Your idea may need to change as your journey unfolds, and
you need to be open enough to accept and work with that change. Uncertainty is a scary place, so
you will need to deal with the fear associated with that. Fear of not knowing where next month s
pay cheque is coming from, fear of failure. You must become accustomed to insecurity as a life
choice. And you ll need the ability to think creatively so you can change perspective to solve all
those inevitable problems that come up.
So far then we have vision, passion, persistence, high risk tolerance, flexible and creative thinking.
Throw in resilience for good measure. Not many people have these qualities up front, or maybe
more importantly, are willing to adopt them. It is argued that our education system does nothing to
promote entrepreneurship either. With its emphasis on conformity and thinking inside the box , it
arguably stifles creativity. It is interesting to note that people like Richard Branson, Alan Sugar and
Steve Jobs didn t finish higher education, and Bill Gates dropped out of Harvard. I m not saying

Motown Impact On Society
Motown was about music for all people white and black, blue and green, cops and the robbers. I
was reluctant to have our music alienate anyone (Berry Gordy Jr.). Motown Records was founded
in 1959 in Detroit, Michigan, by a young entrepreneur Berry Gordy Jr., in pursuit for better music
and society. With the signing of many culture changing artists, such as Stevie Wonder
and Gladys
Knight, Motowns influence in music and society has forever changed the lives of many. After their
move to Los Angeles in June of 1972, many artists signed to the record label either left, or moved
with the label to Los Angeles. This move to Los Angeles effected their sound, exploring other
genres. Even though their move to Los Angeles hurt their image, their effect on society was still felt
throughout the people. From the 1960s 1970s, Motown Records established themselves as a major
contributor to African American culture by actively partaking in fighting against injustice, serving
as a social and industrial conciliator for unfaltering racial injustice existing throughout America, and
changing modern day society forever.
Motown s role in society as a social conciliator provided hope for racially segregated groups, such
as African Americans, and unrepresented sexual groups, like women. Motown Records, led by the
president, Berry Gordy Jr., was very involved in the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960 s, from
producing music about African American rights to producing the speeches of Martin

Baboons
Baboons also known by their scientific name Papio anubis are among one of the most abundant
species of monkeys in Africa. They are also some of the world s largest monkeys in the primate
order. All baboons have a strong torso, snout like face, sharp canine teeth, powerful jaws, and a
naked rump. Most baboons are at least twenty inches long and weight at most eighty two

Unlike other primates most baboons live in savannas, where they spend most of their time
roaming on the ground. However, baboons can and do climb trees to sleep, eat, and look out for

Global diminishing energy resources and climate change are a growing issue. Every year there
are more than 250 pipeline spills which contain hazardous liquid including tar sands. Tar sands
are the leading cause of Canada s global greenhouse emissions. TransCanada corp. is planning to
repurpose a 40 year old pipeline, called Energy East, that runs from Saskatchewan to Ontario and
attach a new pipeline that runs through Quebec to Saint John, New Brunswick. The problem with
this idea is that the original pipeline they plan to repurpose is made in a way that would not be

say no to fracking which is another incredibly environmentally damaging process that is used to
retrieve natural gas from beneath rock. This is a very important campaign because if people don t
stand up to the government, which is supporting all these practices, the damage being done to our
earth will never be stopped and communities near where pipeline spills and fracking are happening
will lose all their clean water, land, and air. The CoC is trying to tell the government that Canada
needs rules and policies to protect the environment from further pollution and damage and they are

How Sharon HaysAnalysis Of Intensive Mothering
This journal will be discussing Sharon Hays analysis of intensive mothering, described as a form of
parenting in which a mother prioritizes child rearing over other commitments such as the
advancement of her professional career (). Some qualities of intensive mothering include the
perception that a female figure must be the primary caregiver, that the child has inherently good
virtues, and most importantly, that the mother must invest all her energy, time, and financial
resources into her child ().
To begin this journal, I would like to pose a debate on Hays description of a rational actor which
she defines as an individual who seeks to maximize her own interest (particularly her interests in
material gain) without regard to the interests of others (409). The rational actor differs from an
intensive mother who is seen as nurturing and caring primarily towards her child. This
differentiation is important in Hays analysis of intensive mothering because it speaks to the theme
of the role of the family, specifically the differentiation between the public and private sphere. The
rational actor would exist in the public sphere, typically within the labour market such as Rachel s
boss, while the intensive mother would exist in the private sphere who devotes almost all her time
to her child which would be Rachel herself.
I do not want to dispute the division of the public and private sphere that Hays articulates but
setting the rational actor s role in the public sphere aside,

The Pros And Cons Of Homeless People
Many homeless people have various problems which include money, domestic violence or mental
illness and it is not easy for them to change their lifestyle and find a job. Do you know how many
homeless people are living in Toronto? According to the homeless hub, they estimated put the
number of homeless in the city at about 5,219 in 2013 ( Popluation , 2013). Homeless need help
getting off the streets but are not able to do it by themselves. People should not just give the
homeless poor treatment and keep on walking by like nothing is wrong. In order to reduce the
homeless problem, we should help them efficiently to solve this problem which can allow the
government to help them in many ways.
According to National Coalition for the Homeless, Homeless and poverty are inextricably linked (
Why , July 2009). People who are poor are not able to consistently pay for necessities such as
housing, food, health care, and education. If they can pay for those things, they won t be homeless.
Many homeless people work for minimum wage and they just can not earn enough money to afford
housing. According to Retail Council of Canada,
Ontario minimum wage is $11.40 per hour ( Minimum , March 2017). However, the housing price
is still expensive in Toronto. Even though the homeless works hard, they can not afford to pay for
housing and other necessities. So, homeless people give up work and the vicious circle of poverty
keeps repeating itself.

Summary Of The Net Imagery In Oresteia
In the Oresteia, revenge drives the characters to act. Although they call it justice, it is not.
Aeschylus uses net imagery to symbolize faith and destiny. When Clytemnestra murders
Agamemnon and Cassandra, the net imagery acts as a symbol of terrible fate. However, then fate
reverse. Now, Orestes is caught in Apollo s net and kills his own mother. Lastly, Athene changes
the meaning of the net from one of chaos to that of order and justice. These uses of the net
imagery help the reader focus on a crucial theme in the play: the superiority of a formal justice
system to one based on the individual quest for revenge by progressively altering the nets meaning
and its affect on those around it.
Clytemnestra s use of the net imagery focuses the reader on the drawback, that is, collateral
damage, of a justice system that is based on the individual quest for revenge by emphasizing the
collateral damage associated with revenge. As she stands over the bodies of Agamemnonand
Cassandra she says: I wrapped in a great net not a fish could have slipped from the shoal (69).
Involving the shoal in Clytemnestra s speech explains that with every revenge quest there are
innocent people who suffer the repercussions. An avenger does not consider the bystanders
surrounding the guilty person. Clytemnestra states that the net was so large that the fish could not
escape the shoal. If the fish s fate is to be caught in the net yet it cannot escape the shoal, that means
the shoal suffers the same

Commercial Stirs Controversy Essay
Of course, the Super Bowl can be considered the most watched television recording in American
history. As a result of withholding the attention of such a vast audience, many commercials are
showcased during the Super Bowl games, creating a commodity in which those commercials are
watched more than the Super Bowl games themselves. A mass amount of viewers can
unquestionably be beneficial to advertisers seeking to sell their products and services. However,
benefits are not the only things these ads invoke, detriment can occur as well, as seen throughout
history among a variety of television commercials. The Coca Cola commercial, displayed during

The commercial also incorporated a presentation of the country s varying sprawling landscapes

partaking in real life activities. With these elements: a patriotic song, playing on emotion, and an
invocation of profound imagery, we see several of the tactics mentioned in both articles tackled in
Coke s commercial. So why did Coca Cola receive such monumental uproar, if it made use of some
of the fifteen basic appeals that make ads effective? Ultimately, the ad received backlash because,
many [people] think that America the Beautiful is the country national anthem and English is this
country s national language, noted in Indian Country Today ( Coca Cola s America the Beautiful
Super Bowl Ad Causes Stir par 2). As a result, these individuals believe America the Beautiful
should only be sung it the English language. Building on the ideas presented in Indian Country
Today, Damien Croghan, editor of the Daily Nebraskan, asserts Xenophobic Americans feel that the
presence of non English languages representing our country somehow threatens their perceived
idea of what it means to be American (par 11). The people who took to social networking sites to

Summary Of The Film Method Actor
Method Actor , created by Justin Stokes, began with actor John Shrapnel as he stood near a
dimly lit window inside a dreary room. In the video, he spoke about his experience as an actor
and gave out advice from personal knowledge. He mentioned the mentality and dedication needed
to portray certain acting roles. The mood of the video switched up as soon as he talked about his
childhood and how he began loving the art of film. The most significant role that he discussed was
the role of a murderer. He questioned how one can get into a role so intriguing and demanding of
barbaric actions. As he described the mind of a killer, the camera reeled back to display bars that

The audio chosen by Stokes was used to create an image or a universal sentiment. In the
beginning and middle of the video, you can hear a gust of wind blow throughout the room
(Stokes). It was heard for a short period, but it can be used to foreshadow the content of the short
film. When watching the whole video, the gust of winds gave a sign that something bad or
creepy was going to unfold. The gust of winds sounded after he mentioned his mother that
supported him. This also gave me a hint that his mother must have gone through something
horrible. The way the wind blew as he said mother created a chilly atmosphere. Adding to the
chilly atmosphere, the sound of slashes began in the middle of the film as the actor talks about
the feeling of stabbing someone (Stokes). These slash noises can get the viewer s imagination to
go insane with visuals of a brutal execution. The slashes sound slowly and patiently, giving the
listeners an image to grasp onto; an image that caused the viewers to undergo an experience just as
though they are standing at the crime scene. He heavily described the actions with his dialogue

Man Ray Case Study
Chapter 4. Case Studies
(I) Man Ray Gun with Alphabet Stencils (1924) The below artwork was done by Man Ray, a
pioneer in the 20th century and a leading figure in both Dada and Surrealist art movements
(Phillipscollection.org, 2017). Although Man Ray considered himself as a painter, starting from
the late 1910s, he began his devotion to photography (The Art Institute of Chicago, 2017).
Through his playful experimental approach to motion and visual puns, these elements defined the
characters of his work of art. Long before film photography and today s digital camera age, Man
Ray used a range of media to portray his artwork he empowered viewers to discover the meanings
behind each work.

Whether knowingly or unknowingly, these X ray like circular shapes can be anything in the minds
of the viewers, interpreting the meaning of this image in a number of different ways. Marcel
Duchamp stated that It was his achievement to treat the camera as he treated the paintbrush, as a
mere instrument at the service of the mind (Biography.com, 2017). In addition, the photogram
might seem expressive and abstract, yet on the contrary, it is the precise medium to document the
everyday objects in an unrepeatable and somehow uncontrollable way. The artist cannot predict
how the selected objects will be recorded under the light sources that were tampered with. From
the first glance, the image completely dissociated from its original subject, allowing one s memory
to fill the gap. Yet below its surface, the image is an accurate documentation that captured a moment
of psychical intensity. It revealed a new visual experience, using objects in the simplest way. One
can say that the use of this medium disclosed reality more preciously due to its invisibility and
mysterious representation (The Museum of Modern Art, 2017).

Analysis Of George Orwell s Nineteen Eighty Four ( 1984 )...
Throughout the novels, we see both authors presenting the consequences of a controlling
regime, and the severe dystopia that came about due to the political and social oppression which
was taking place across Europe and USA. Whilst both books were being written, Orwell and
Dick were facing the threat of Communism taking over the world. In 1949, Orwell published
Nineteen Eighty Four (1984), and the world was in turmoil, it was a war stricken society filled
with death and disappointment. Orwell s futuristic vision of society immediately tapped into the
fear and uncertainty that was so prevalent at the time. Dick who wrote his book 14 years later
than Orwell and Dick uses The Man In the High Castle (HC) as a foreshadowing of what could

controlling society to the reader, which results in rebellion and exposing the flaws in the

endangerment of the future, but also, what it s like to live in such a controlling society. The
presence of spies and secret rebellions show the struggles the regimes come under; interestingly
both Orwell and Dick show that as quickly as a regime can be created it can also be destroyed. In

IT Disaster Recovery Plan
Traditionally, an IT disaster recovery plan hasn t had a very high priority on the health care
agenda. Stakeholders knew it was an important topic, but it was usually a topic last on the list of
spending priorities. In the past five years, it has reached the top of the list. Hospitals and private
practices have come to realize that the services that use on a daily basis have to be up and running
continuously without interruption. Therefore, the endeavor is to create a disaster recovery plan to
ensure that critical healthinformation technology continues to be accessible and functional even

I knew going in that I was going to love The Curse / Curse II: The Bite Double Feature from
Scream Factory, based solely on the little blurb on the back of the case, which reads A Double

towards 80s horror films, so when the cover is screaming out that these are two 80s horror gems,
how can you not end up loving them. Loving them is exactly what happened when watching this

Frankly, I didn t see much of an issue with the transfer, save for a few rough scenes taking place
in a hospital, which had some wear and tear present. Besides that, the transfer was fairly solid.
The same goes for The Curse, which keeps a lovely grainfield intact, but still has some nice solid
blacks. As for the audio, which is DTS HD Master Audio Stereo for both, it s a bit on the low
side in Curse II s case, resulting in having to turn up the speakers a bit higher than usual, but
overall, the sound was clean and clear for both movies. The only feature, which really shouldn t be
considered a feature is a trailer for The Curse, which has the a pretty epic voice over speech from

Corruption Of The Clergy In The Canterbury Tales By...
Geoffrey Chaucer is often referred to as the father of English literature. Chaucer s work, The
Canterbury Tales, was the first major literary work done in the English. Chaucer expresses his
feelings on the corruption of the church clergy in the General Prologue through the characters
such as the Pardoner, the Prioress, and the Friar. These characters express many of the different
misgivings of the clergy in that period. The Pardoner is described to be quite the physically
unattractive man, but that is just the start. He is even uglier on the inside than he is on the
outside. The Pardoner scams hard working people out of their money by selling false relics. He
advertises pig s bones as the remains of saints, he uses a pillowcase as the veil of Mary and a
sheet as the sail of Peter. The Pardoner tells the pilgrims that he is only preaching to make
money, not for the love of god. Chaucer s Pardoner character is supposed to represent the greed
and dishonesty within the clergy. The Pardoner is a man of greed like much of the clergy in
Chaucer s time. Chaucer feels like the clergy has money on their mind more than they have God
and the flock on their mind.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Prioress attempts to present herself as something she is not, thus exposing her extreme
vanity. Her attempts to seem dainty and well bred fall quite flat in the story. She is more

delicate, She was so charitably solicitous she used to weep if she but saw a mouse caught in a
trap, if it were dead or bleeding. (Chaucer 147 149). The Prioress cares more for her little dog

Essay about Francisco de Goya s Painting, The Third of May
Francisco de Goya s Painting, The Third of May
Goya s painting has historical significance, as well as a social message that he wanted to send to

The painting The Third of May, by Francisco de Goya, was done in 1814 to commemorate the
events of that took place during the Napoleonic Warsin Madrid, Spain on May 2 and 3 1808. The
painting sets the scene of a man about to be killed by a firing squad. The bodies of those who have

him. The ground is covered in blood from those who have already been executed. The sky in the

As a result of the revolt, eighty peasants were gathered together and executed during the pre dawn
hours of May third. Despite the overwhelming defeat of the revolt, the Spanish people were not
daunted. In the countryside, during the next six years, the first guerilla warfare was waged.
Eventually Napoleon and his troops were forced from Spain, but with them left their liberal reforms
(Tone 49). Goya had been pleased with the liberal reforms and other changes that Napoleon had
instituted in Spain, but was completely disgusted with what had happened during the war. He felt
that nothing lasting had been accomplished, while many had suffered and died as a result of the war.
Goya made a series of etchings and paintings depicting the atrocities of both sides involved with
the war. The most famous of these paintings are the two depicting the scenes from the second
and third of May. The work focuses on the victims of the situation, which in this case are the
Spanish citizens being executed. The work is not meant to be beautiful, but is instead supposed to
be horrible in order to shock the viewer. Goya s purpose within the painting is less to blame the
French, but instead to point out to people the faceless and mechanical forces of war itself, blindly
killing a representative of humanity (Stokstad). He used the incident as an example of how horrible
war is and what can happen when violence is instituted.

Creating A Better Recognition System
ABSTRACT
Bangla word recognition is extremely challenging and there are too few works reported on online
cursive Bangla word recognition. Bangla is a complicated script and it needs rigorous
investigations to implement a better recognition system. While we have sophisticated classifiers
like Hidden Markov Models or BLSTM Neural Networks for recognition of complicated scripts, we
have very little comparative studies about the appropriate feature sets for such scripts. In this paper,
our aim is to implement an appropriate recognition system for author independent unconstrained
Bangla word where a modified feature set is proposed. To construct the modified feature set, we
modify existing feature sets and add new features for improvement of recognition accuracy. We
test performances of various existing feature sets and proposed feature set on same Bangla dataset
for fair comparison and report the comparative results using various lexicons upto 20,000 word
lexicon. Each time an HMM based classifier is used to test the feature set. Finally, a recognition
system is built over the combination of existing and modified feature sets.
Keywords: Online handwriting recognition, online character recognition, lexicon driven approach,

However, if the stressor persists, then the individual will not be able to handle the stress for long.
In this stage, the individual s energy is being depleted.
The third and final stage, Exhaustion, is when an individual s level of resistance to the stressor
decreases dramatically until it goes below the normal level. In this stage, an individual s energy
has run out and he or she is unable to maintain normal body functioning. If the stressor continues,
long term damage could occur to the person s body. The body s immune system is weakened
which can result in being more prone to sickness.
An alternative to the Exhaustion stage is the Recovery stage. This stage occurs when an
individual is able to successfully cope with and overcome the stressor (Wikipedia, 2012). This
paper will be specifically discussing and analyzing work related stress. So, what is work related
stress? Work related stress, also known as occupational stress, is stress related to the workplace.
Work related stress can occur in an individual when his or her workplace has a highly demanding
environment or job and he or she does not have the ability to completely deal with the
demanding workplace or complete the demanding job (Wikipedia, 2012). There are several other
factors that can cause work related stress which will be presented in this paper. Now that a
definition and model of stress have been presented, this paper will focus on the causes of stress,
known as stressors, as it

Bullies are Criminals
Bullies are everywhere and they can be found at church, home and most importantly in schools.
Nevertheless, there is no raised hand to stop the criminals or make no plans to stop them. Society
pays more attention to the victims when they have gone to drastic measures. However many might
say that at that moment a child is dead, has psychological damage, or puts others in harms way it
too late. Bullies are criminals and they should be treated as such, but if society worked together to
help or stop them early then maybe a bully won t become a bully. Nevertheless, in order to make a
solution one must understand the problem itself.
A bully is someone that uses their strength or influence to intimidate or force them into doing what
they want. They strip their victims of any power or control and do this day after day with no
remorse. They feed off of others pain and smile when they have made other cringe when they re

bullies in man s everyday life, it might be hard to tell the difference with just a look. However,
the various types of bullying are known more on school grounds. This is the problem society
must deal with in order to help or cure our bullying epidemic. Every morning, thousands of
children are terrified to walk into school. This isn t because they don t like school or they don t

Then I started shooting the old crap around a little bit... `your nose is bleeding, dear, ...`I got hit

Since Holden shows signs of a phony , and he hates phonies , he in a sense, hates himself. Holden

Citizen Kane Analysis
Citizen Kane is a movie that can be rewritten and implemented into any film created today. In
many ways, the storyline tells us more about ourselves than anything else and it relates to each
one of us who has ever wished for a blah blah life. From his flamboyant adventures to the blah blah
to his political agenda in his later years. Every film that came after Citizen Kaneowes a great deal to
Orson Wellesbecause of the way he used music, shadows and lighting, and special effects, which
without a doubt makes it one of the finest movies ever made. Some even call it the Mona Lisa of its
time because Orson Welles was the first to implement these techniques, which revolutionize cinema
forever.
It is believed that more than 50 percent of the film involved special effects. One of the many
reasons is because the film itself was made on a budget and the other being for the nature and scope
of its subject (The Denny Life) to keep cost down. One of the methods that revolutionize
cinematography was the introduction of a technique known as deep focus by Orson Welles. Deep
focus is the use of having everything in the frame even the background in focus at the same time
contrary to having only the people or object in the foreground in focus (The Denny Life).
Moreover, the deep focus technique requires the cinematographer to combine lighting, composition,
and type of camera lens to produce the desired effect. For example, Orson Welles use this technique

General MacArthur, the Commander of the Allied Forces during World War II, once said that I hold
no branch [of the military] in higher esteem than the Merchant Marine. Since its founding in 1775
the Merchant Marine has supported the United States in every single war it has fought. In their

during World War II, Merchant Mariners maintained the supply lines [to Europe and the Pacific]
that provided... everything that the Allied armies needed in order to survive. The New York Times
pointed out that the invasion of Normandy would not have been possible without the Merchant
Marine. Knowing this, German U Boats intentionally targeted Merchant Marine ships throughout
the war, sinking them faster than the United States could build them.8 Alongside marines, sailors,
soldiers, and airmen, mariners made the same sacrifices. In total, 3.9 percent or 1 in 26 mariners

The Balancing Act of Adult Life Essay
The Balancing Act of Adult Life
Life in the 21st century seems more complex than ever, as adults cope with the demands of
multiple roles, the stresses of a fluid workplace, and the pressures of child and elder care.
Individuals feel compelled to update their work related knowledge and skills and to keep up with
the proliferation of information. Family resource management is increasingly complex, with
expanded choices and decisions that must be made about utilities, banking, investments, retirement

This Digest describes a selection of adult education approaches to helping individuals negotiate the
curriculum of life challenges.
Beyond Life Skills
In the 1990s, work/life balance caught the attention of researchers, policymakers, and employers,
resulting in the development of a range of employment benefits, legislation, and programs aimed at
helping people cope. Life management or family/career management curricula emphasize coping
through the development of skills in communication, interpersonal effectiveness, and money, time,
stress, and household management (e.g., California Community Colleges 1998; Mathieson 1999).
As Caproni (1997) notes, research, policy, and practice focused on work/life balance have raised
important issues and brought about changes that have benefitted some families. However, these
approaches are incomplete in several ways.
As Niles et al. (2001) point out, the usefulness of these types of responses benefits different
segments of society differently. For the working poor, balancing work, nonwork, and life roles
may be a luxury; they are likely to be far more circumspect in how they can commit their resources
to family needs (p. 13). Caproni (1997) suggests that the discourse of work/life balance reflects
bureaucratic values such as individualism, instrumentalism, goal focus, and

Ophelia Effect On Hamlet
Hamlet s Affect on Others Relationships can be made or broken by one person action towards the
other. In Hamlet by William Shakespeare there are many relationships find themselves coming to a
tragic end because of Hamlet. Two minor characters in particular that Hamlet affected are Gertrude,
Hamlet s mother and Ophelia, Hamlets significant other. Shakespeare uses characterization to show
the affects that Hamlets actions have on Gertrudeand Ophelia. Hamlet words towards Ophelia are
what begins her slow descent into madness. After apologizing to himself about think of committing

Gertrude and Hamlet are having a conversation while Polonius is ease dropping on them, and
when Hamlet finds out he stabs his sword through the arras and kills Polonius which freaks out
Gertrude (3.4.29). Gertrude is now in shock from what she has just seen, and her only response
is What hast thou done? as she looks at Polonius dead corpse (3.4.31). She wants to know what
she has done to leave him so incensed for Hamlet to just murder Polonius in cold blood ( Critical
Interpretations of Shakespeare s 201). When the ghost of King Hamlet appears in Gertrude s
bedroom, both the Ghost and Hamlet have a conversation and Gertrude believes he s mad , and
that Hamlet hast cleft my heart in twain (3.4.121 177) which breaks Gertrude s will completely
driving her towards depression. Hamlet tries to warns her not to think that he is mad , but she
does not believe him rather grows scared of him ( Critical Interpretations of Shakespeare s 203).
At this point the mother son relationship that she believe they had is no longer present after what
she witnesses Hamlet do to Polonius and talk to himself. Hamlet s actions of revenge have now

The Indian Reservation System
An Indian Reservation is a legal territory managed by a certain Native American tribe given to
them, with only partial sovereignty, by the United States government. Only 326 of the country s
567 recognized tribes were granted land, but even the land they were granted is not sufficient
enough to support a sustainable lifestyle. With no rights to their land, no sense of home, and a
rapidly dying culture, native americans have been dealt with in the worst ways possible after their
own massacre and consistently broken treaties. An analysis of the Indian reservationsystem in the
US provides deeper insight to the idea that the treatment of natives has left profound, long lasting
negative impacts on the lives of native Americans. BODY PARAGRAPH NUMBER 1: (PUT IN
TOPIC SENTENCE) Some officials in the early years of the American republic, such as President
George Washington, believed that the best way to solve this Indian problem was simply to civilize
the Native Americans. The goal of this civilization campaign was to make Native Americans as
much like white Americans as possible by encouraging them convert to Christianity, learn to speak
and read English, and adopt European style economic practices such as the individual ownership of
land and other property (including, in some instances in the South, African slaves). Analysis: This
quote shows the urgency by the US government to wipe out native culture during the start of the
reservation system. Words used in this quote such

Why Do Some People Think That Parents Should Take Care Of...
Jack Dangermond once said, In a nursery, if you don t take care of those plants, your profits get
lost real quickly. You have to weed. You have to water. You have to nurture. If one does not take
proper care of his/her nursery garden the plants will rot and people will no longer be able to enjoy
nature s beauty. In life people must take care of their children for the same reason. Without the
proper care and upbringing, a childcan be negatively affected by their surroundings and have to live
a difficult life, leading those children to not fully experience the joys of life. Parents should be
encouraged to raise their children in an environmentin which they are loved and feel safe. It is
extremely important for parents and guardians to be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
John Hegger wrote an article about the causes of criminal behavior in which he stated that our
experiences growing up have the capability to shape our view of the world and also have a direct
impact on one s ability to make rational decisions . When kids grow up in neighborhoods where
there are high crime and violence rates, they are more likely to act similar to the behavior they
see. According to Salehi, recent studies show that during the last 5 years, 60 percent of the entire
world s city residents have, directly or indirectly, been a victim of violence, crime, and felony.
Thus, the increasing crime rate, violent or non violent, is a serious threat to all the urban societies
of the world (6). This proves that the environments and societies around us have contributed
towards creating more violence, crime, and felony. When children are raised in these environments,
they are more susceptible to live similar, violent lives. As mentioned previously, negative home
environments have been known to be a cause of poor language development, behavioral issues,
aggression, depression, etc. for developing children

Character Transformation In The Road
In the beginning of The Road, the boy undoubtedly trusts and depends on his father. Throughout the
journey, the boy begins to question if his father is really telling the truth, and he begins to tell when
his father is lying. For example, the man would tell the boy stories and in the beginning, he enjoyed
listening to them, but at the end of the novel, he didn t want to hear them because he thought they
were lies. Also, the boyat the end of the novel does not rely on his father, as he is able to move on
from the mandying. Both of these changes show the boy s opinion and character transformation that
relied on the journey in The Road.

The Global Problem of Harveting Organs
The harvesting of organs is a huge problem worldwide. The sale of organs may result in an
individual being murdered simply for his or her organs (Hongda.) In order to buy food
impoverished families only choice may be to sell their organs (Callahan.) Those who are
precipitants of organs coming from Inmates are taking huge health risk. Jeff Testerman, author of
Organs of Condemned sought for Transplant , stated The prison population is such a high risk
group, particularly for hepatitis and AIDS. When someone receives an organ from a donor
within a prison s walls, they are not always assured of the health security of the prisoner s organs
of which they are getting. There are many tragic stories told of someone being abducted, murdered,
or sedated all just for his or her kidneys. These stories are not fictional but a shocking reality
(Callahan.) Over 10,000 illegal organ transplants are taking place every year (Campbell.) As
improvements in technology and medicine are made the number of organ transplants per year also
increase, due to the escalating amount of sources (Hongda.) The Chinese government needs to
constitute and enforce laws prohibiting the exploitation of organ harvesting. There are limited laws
that regulate the harvesting of organs overseas. The Declaration of Istanbul of 2008 was put into
motion by all one hundred nations. This was a statement against global organ exploitation
(Campbell.) The Declaration of Istanbul however does not prohibit the harvesting

The Conflict Between Greece And Persia
Once the conflict between Greece and Persia had ceased in 479 BCE, Athens found themselves
following a new leader, an Athenian statesman, Pericles, who had a fervent interest in advancing
Athens. Under Pericles leadership, Athens experienced a period of time in the 5th century where
they were regarded as the cultural, intellectual and commercial heart of the Hellenic world. Their
hegemony and superiority contributed to the creation of a Golden Age, a valid title, which is
currently embraced by historians. During this period of time, Athensflourished with culture, art and
literature, had an impact in the scientific and medical world, and had a substantial amount of
influence and control over the rest of Greece.
Pericles was often referred to as the Patron of the Arts due to his immense dedication and passion
towards it. His passion led to Athens experiencing their peak of culture with a burst of art and
literature surfacing. Pericles directed projects to advance Athens culturally, such as lowering
admission prices for plays to allow the lower class entry (History.com Staff, 2009) and was
responsible for the world s most recognised Acropolis, which is a citadel or complex that has been
built on a high hill. Acropolis was originally designed to be a single temple to honour Greek
goddess, Athena, however, Pericles made the decision to expand the project after the first temple,
Parthenon, was completed. The other temples that Pericles made plans to build, Erechtheum and

Our patients followed up for chest wall recurrence by clinical examination and CA15 3. Breast
ultrasonography, chest X ray and chest CT was done if there is suspected induration. No local
recurrence occurred in both groups during this period as located in table (2).
Discussion:
Fisher stated that breast cancer is a systemic disease from the start and any change in local surgical
management will have no effect on overall survival and breast conservation is considered standard
treatment for malignant breast diseases [9, 10].
Dalberg has published the only comparative study between preservation and resection of pectoral
fascia [7]. So we tried to focus on the benefit of pectoral fascia preservation and oncological safety.
In our study many benefits for pectoral fascia preservation as regarding operative time, blood loss,
drain output, seroma formation and cosmetic appearance of the flaps.

Mcdonald s Liability
Essentially, Ritenbaugh expressed that God s word shows that He holds people accountable for
liability when people have careless disregard towards other people.
Conclusions
The case of Liebeck v. McDonald s clearly illustrates that companies must be mindful of not
harming consumers through defective provides, because consumers that are harmed by products,
have the ability to successfully win awards to be compensated for damages. With that in mind, it is
recommended that Divine Coffee Shops reduce coffee temperatures. According to the Burn
Foundation (2016), to eliminate the risk of burns, hot liquids should not be served beyond 160
degrees. The full article published by the Burn Foundation can be found here: http:/
/www.burnfoundation.org/programs/resource.cfm?c=1 a=3. To ensure that our customers are
protected, we must implement a policy of checking the temperature of the coffee, before serving
customers. The case of Liebeck v. McDonald s was been repeatedly cited as an example of
frivolous litigation in the United States. However, to Stella Liebeck, the lawsuit was not frivolous.
In summary, the outcome of the Liebeck v. McDonald s case resulted in Stella Liebeck having the

Susan Glaspell s Play, Trifles
What are trifles? In Susan Glaspell s play, Trifles, we look at a murder case that happens in an
isolated farmhouse. Mr. Wright has been murdered while he was asleep. Someone has a strung a
rope around his neck. That someone is Mrs. Wright. Trifles illustrates that men have
substantially more power than women. They first start by going in to the kitchen. Everyone
observes the kitchen to see that it is a mess. The men leaves the room. The ladies wonder about
the kitchen. Mrs. Wright requested that the ladies bring her an apron to her. After finding the
apron they both wonder around the kitchen to find that the table was half cleaned. Mrs. Hale
[Who is standing by the table.] Well, I don t see any signs of anger around here. [She puts her
hand on the dish towel which lies on the table, stands looking down at table, one half of which is
clean, the other half messy.] It s wiped to here. (line 68) Mrs. Hale says that there is no sign of
anger but that clearly is the case. A normal person won t just clean half the table and leave the
other half of uncleaned. There had a to be a reason for this. Even though Mrs. Hale doesn t
realize it, she was on to something. Mrs. Wright was mad at Mr. Wright so she didn t clean his
side of the table. The ladies find that Mrs. Wright had a quilt. Mrs. Hale It s log cabin pattern.
Pretty, isn t it? I wonder if she was goin to quilt it or just knotit? (line 72) Mrs. Wright could have

Persuasive Essay On Pier 21
Between 1928 and 1971, one million immigrants came to Canada through Pier 21 alone.
However, not everyone is familiar with Pier 21, so what is it actually? Pier 21 was an ocean

last surviving seaport immigration facility in Canada. The Pier was the primary point of entry
for over one million immigrants and refugees from Europe and elsewhere, as well as the
departure point for half million military personal Canadian troops during World War Two. The
facility became known informally as the Gateway to Canada. ( ) In its first years of operation,

The Importance Of Technology In The 21st Century Learning...
Technology plays a major role within our society and world wide. In order to prepare our students
for the 21st century learning environment, the school district will ensure student success by leading
to higher education, work, and life long learning, embedding an equitable and accessible 21st
century learning environment along with supporting students with emerging technologies through
the curriculum. This learning environment will include available and current technologies,
information resources, and training to help ensure innovative teaching and learning in the
classroom. Our district s entire educational community will collaboratively work to provide this
digitally rich environment in order to equip our students to become independent, life long learners
who are prepared to meet the challenges ahead.
Rationale
The current state of Shadow Rock Elementary is one that is evolving technologically. The school
has received 6 Chromebooks carts that are available for students and teachers to use. Shadow
Rock also has 4 IPad carts along with 3 ThinkPad carts; however, with the school s technology
resources we have neglected because the lack of professional development to insure effective use
of these technologies. National Institute for Professional Practice (2014) states, schools should
embrace new designs for learning based how people learn. Education, in other words should be

Essay on Intrinsic versus Extrinsic Motivation
Intrinsic versus Extrinsic Motivation
Introduction
The success of any business depends on the productivity and satisfaction of its employees.
Employees need to be motivated to work. Motivation can be defined as the inner force that drives
individuals to accomplish personal and organizational goals. Motivation can be either intrinsic or
extrinsic. For an individual to be motivated in a work situation there must be a need, which the
individual would have to perceive a possibility of satisfying through some reward. Intrinsic
motivation stems from motivations that are inherent and arise from performing the task of the job
itself, which the individual gets a feeling of either positive or negative motivation as a result of ...
Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those that are intrinsically motivated have a bit of advantages over workers who are more
predominantly extrinsically motivated. For instance, intrinsically motivated people work on job
tasks because they find them enjoyable and interesting. Additionally, there is evidence showing that
intrinsic motivation is positively correlated with learning, achievement, perception of competence
and self efficacy. At the same time, it is negatively correlated with anxiety, depression, and
frustration. An intrinsically motivated individual will be committed to his or her work to the extent
to which the job inherently contains tasks that are inherently rewarding to him or her (Lei, 2010).
Drawbacks of Intrinsic Motivation Although intrinsic motivation has numerous benefits, few
drawbacks of intrinsic motivation should also be considered as well. An intense form of intrinsic
motivation can reach to the point that employees can completely lose track of time and space,
completely ignore authority and other important tasks, as well as not having enough time to learn
or perform other essential tasks while learning and enjoying a particular academic activity. When
performing an enjoyable task, a person can lose track of space or self awareness. Individuals
motivated by intrinsic gratification seek an experience for itself, rather than for anticipated rewards.
The process is considerably more important to them than the resulting product or outcome, which
has them working often

Re Expansion Of Ebay Into China
The re expansion of eBay into China seems to be a viable probability and a part of the companies
plan for the near future. In 2002, eBay established a presence in china with the acquisition of
leading auction site Eachnet to form eBay Eachnet. Up until 2005 eBay Eachnet was the leader of
the ecommerce market due to their C2C platform. However, with the emergence of Alibaba owned
subsidiary Taobao.com (Taobao), eBayEachnet soon lost its stronghold on the market. This factor
combined with a rigid Chinese ecommerce market drove eBay to withdraw business dealings in the
country in 2006.

As interest in eBay and conducting business on the site began to grow eBay started applying a
nominal fee for listing items on the site, and a percentage of proceeds after sales had concluded.
Application of nominal fees on each transaction enabled Omidyar to garner revenue from his
venture. In 1996 Omidyar appointed Jeff Skoll as president of eBay. Skoll s first order of
business as president of eBay was to grow the customer support team for e bays market place and
in 1997. This entailed appointing people to eBay s customer service department to settle disputes,
attract new customers and keep current customers happy. By September of 1997 the company
officially changed its name to the now well known moniker eBay Inc. It was in this same year
that eBay was receiving one million page hits per week and at minimum 15,000 item listings per
day. eBay, thereby had become one of the most visited sites on the web.
With the company growing at an exponential rate Skoll and Omidyar knew that they needed to

  • 2. `` Goodbye, Earl `` By Dennis Linde And Performed By The... Set in the American South, the song Goodbye, Earl, written by Dennis Linde and performed by the Dixie Chicks, is a comedic story of vengeance and retribution. Best friends throughout high school, Wanda and Mary Anne part ways after graduation, but eventually meet back up to murder Earl, the abusive husband of Wanda. Using double entendres, strong imagery, and a light tone, Linde and the Dixie Chicksconveyed the strength of Southern women through their song, but also created controversy with a divisive music video. By naming one of the characters Mary Anne, the writer immediately evokes a sense of Southern lineage. Almost unheard of in other regions, double names are incredibly popular in the American south. On the other hand, the name Wanda etymologically means a Wend. While Mary Anne had been the one out of the two to physically leave after graduation lookin for a bright new world, Wanda wends all around town and stumbles upon Earl. In this aspect, Wanda does not choose to be in an abusive relationship she falls into it. Additionally, the song mentions that both women were members of the 4H club and active members in the FFA. Both of these organizations are well known youth development groups with academic advancement and leadership goals. Placing a great importance on community activism, Southern women are expected to be active participants in the community and at school. Differing in life goals, Mary Anne ventured out into the world while Wanda stayed in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Spacex Research Paper SpaceX Satellite Launch Planned for Today If all goes well in today s SpaceX satellite launch, Turkmenistan (en.wikipedia.org/wiki /Turkmenistan ) will have its first communications satellite placed into orbit this evening. The satellite is scheduled to travel into space at 6:14pm EST, with a 60 percent change of good weather in the forecast. Turkmenistan used to be part of the Soviet republic, and is now considered as belonging to Central Asia. The main concern with the weather would be the chance of clouds obscuring the satellite launch, and should this occur, the mission would have to be rescheduled for another date with better conditions, but officials are hoping that will not be necessary. It was originally supposed to go up in November 2014, but was delayed due to checking out a possible problem with the SpaceX rocket s helium pressurization system. No Rocket Return Flight Planned This Trip Unlike several previous attempts, SpaceX isn t going to try to have their Falcon 9 rocket travel back to Earth and try to land on a target ship due to not having enough fuel this time around. Previous attempts did not succeed in a successful landing on the target ship, which was tried to help salvage the Falcon 9 rocket for future use I order to save money on having to build a new one for every satellite launch. Eisenhower and Patton Comparison Essay General Eisenhower and General Patton: A Comparison Zerrrouk (PN) From a fiercely brave General, who strictly enforces customs, bravery, formalities, and success; to a General with a lighthearted mood, down to earth attitude, a steadfast courage, and a integrity and decency to lead the nations of the world into battle; while both these legendary Generals fought on the same side, both General S. Patton and General D. Eisenhower were distinctly different Generals. This paper seeks to outline the differences and similarities between the two Generals by taking a close look at their lives, and the impacts they had on WWII. George S. Patton was born on November 11th, 1885, in San Gabriel California. As Patton grew older, he developed a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For this action he was stripped of his command over the 2nd Armored Division in Africa. Patton could not stand to have a soldier that was anything less than what he thought a true soldier should represent. Patton believes that courage and fear are phenomena which can be governed by training and discipline, and that fear is lost through intense training and patriotism. Patton did not hate his men, but he didn t want to see his soldiers hospitalized as injured men with battle fatigue or neurosis, but as a spectacle of American bravery. Visiting his troops in the hospital got him emotional and he state once that, They re the best damned soldiers the world has ever seen. One day I bawl the hell out of them and the next I weep over them. Patton was relieved of active duty until he was summoned by Eisenhower to lead the 3rd American army in the breakthrough Normandy. Eisenhower, more than anybody, knew the talents that Patton had in war; and with the 3rd American Army, Patton cut through the German lines all the way to Rennes, and then to Nantes, and then stopped at Metz for gas and munitions. Patton was always a step ahead of everyone especially the Germans. After the push stopped, Patton was ordered to move from Saar and attack General Von Rundstedt which was deemed impossible by others but not Patton. Aggregate Demand and Supply Model Aggregate Demand and Supply Model Economic Advisement With a nominal GDP estimated at more than 15 trillion it is clearly the United States economy is one of the largest in the world. A person must have lived in a cave underground for the past several years to not know that the current state of the nation s economy is in desperate need of improvement. Many academic institutions have thought about how the economy arrived at its current state and how can it be restored. Some would advocate not using the same economic policies that created the current conditions of the economy. Their philosophy is that if we stay the current course the economy would somehow miraculously recover itself over a period of an unknown amount of time. These same... Consumer Income: Consumer income is an estimate of household income and is the government s way of determining the median income of families; obviously the income is a key indicator of consumer confidence. According to new data derived from the monthly Current Population Survey (CPS) and ERSI, real median annual household income decreased by 7.9 % between 2010 and 2012, from $54,442 to $50,157 (Smartblog.org, 2012). The current decline in consumer income comes after four consecutive monthly decreases in real median annual household income. The annual household income suggested that the Population Survey report takes into account that some information reflects modifications made as part of annual benchmarking adjustments to compensate for missing data needed to complete the survey. The report also suggests that the economy will continue to struggle slightly despite some encouraging news on unemployment (Smartblo.org, 2012). Tet Turning Point Important congressional and media voices reacted with even greater skepticism toward administration claims that Tet constituted an unequivocal military triumph for the United States. The professional media correspondents basically did their job and reported the dramatic turn of events as it was happening. Time, Newsweek, and U.S. News World Report, the country s three leading weekly news magazines, characterized Tet as a major psychological setback for the United States. The size and breadth of the attack were stunning enough, but the images coming out of South Vietnam in the early days added to the shock and impact of the Tet Offensive. Television reports showed the fighting on the embassy grounds, chaos in the streets of Saigon, the assassination of an NLF prisoner by a South Vietnamese general on a Saigon street, and pitched battles in other cities such as Hue, while the Associated Press reported an American officer in the village of Ben Tre stating that, we had to destroy it in order to save it. The government of Venezuela had closed the borders a year ago, but briefly ordered them open twice this week. Governments made the decision to open the borders after 500 women, mostly dressed in white, broke through the border controls to buy food in Colombia on July 10. Many of the Venezuelans sold their personal items to be able to afford food and groceries, and some invested their savings and emergency funds to provide for basic necessities of their families. Bush told the then prime minister Tony Blair that The problem with the French is that they don t have a word for entrepreneur . Putting it kindly, this was a mistake. Translated from French, an entrepreneur is someone who undertakes something. Of course it carries a much wider meaning than that in the modern English definition. An entrepreneur is someone who takes an idea and builds it into something great and successful. Someone with vision, drive and creativity, and the will to make it happen, often against difficult odds. Or certainly that s the general perception. Does this person have to be a genius? Above average intelligence? What defines an entrepreneur really? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As an entrepreneur you re in the uncertainty business, so you need a high tolerance for risk. You need to be willing to fail several times if necessary in order to get it right in the end, and you need to be flexible in your thinking. Your idea may need to change as your journey unfolds, and you need to be open enough to accept and work with that change. Uncertainty is a scary place, so you will need to deal with the fear associated with that. Fear of not knowing where next month s pay cheque is coming from, fear of failure. You must become accustomed to insecurity as a life choice. And you ll need the ability to think creatively so you can change perspective to solve all those inevitable problems that come up. So far then we have vision, passion, persistence, high risk tolerance, flexible and creative thinking. Throw in resilience for good measure. Not many people have these qualities up front, or maybe more importantly, are willing to adopt them. It is argued that our education system does nothing to promote entrepreneurship either. With its emphasis on conformity and thinking inside the box , it arguably stifles creativity. • 10. Motown Impact On Society Motown was about music for all people white and black, blue and green, cops and the robbers. I was reluctant to have our music alienate anyone (Berry Gordy Jr.). Motown Records was founded in 1959 in Detroit, Michigan, by a young entrepreneur Berry Gordy Jr., in pursuit for better music and society. With the signing of many culture changing artists, such as Stevie Wonder and Gladys Knight, Motowns influence in music and society has forever changed the lives of many. After their move to Los Angeles in June of 1972, many artists signed to the record label either left, or moved with the label to Los Angeles. This move to Los Angeles effected their sound, exploring other genres. Even though their move to Los Angeles hurt their image, their effect on society was still felt throughout the people. From the 1960s 1970s, Motown Records established themselves as a major contributor to African American culture by actively partaking in fighting against injustice, serving as a social and industrial conciliator for unfaltering racial injustice existing throughout America, and changing modern day society forever. Motown s role in society as a social conciliator provided hope for racially segregated groups, such as African Americans, and unrepresented sexual groups, like women. How Sharon HaysAnalysis Of Intensive Mothering This journal will be discussing Sharon Hays analysis of intensive mothering, described as a form of parenting in which a mother prioritizes child rearing over other commitments such as the advancement of her professional career (). Some qualities of intensive mothering include the perception that a female figure must be the primary caregiver, that the child has inherently good virtues, and most importantly, that the mother must invest all her energy, time, and financial resources into her child (). To begin this journal, I would like to pose a debate on Hays description of a rational actor which she defines as an individual who seeks to maximize her own interest (particularly her interests in material gain) without regard to the interests of others (409). The rational actor differs from an intensive mother who is seen as nurturing and caring primarily towards her child. This differentiation is important in Hays analysis of intensive mothering because it speaks to the theme of the role of the family, specifically the differentiation between the public and private sphere. The rational actor would exist in the public sphere, typically within the labour market such as Rachel s boss, while the intensive mother would exist in the private sphere who devotes almost all her time to her child which would be Rachel herself. I do not want to dispute the division of the public and private sphere that Hays articulates but setting the rational actor s role in the public sphere aside, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Pros And Cons Of Homeless People Many homeless people have various problems which include money, domestic violence or mental illness and it is not easy for them to change their lifestyle and find a job. Do you know how many homeless people are living in Toronto? According to the homeless hub, they estimated put the number of homeless in the city at about 5,219 in 2013 ( Popluation , 2013). Homeless need help getting off the streets but are not able to do it by themselves. People should not just give the homeless poor treatment and keep on walking by like nothing is wrong. In order to reduce the homeless problem, we should help them efficiently to solve this problem which can allow the government to help them in many ways. According to National Coalition for the Homeless, Homeless and poverty are inextricably linked ( Why , July 2009). People who are poor are not able to consistently pay for necessities such as housing, food, health care, and education. If they can pay for those things, they won t be homeless. Many homeless people work for minimum wage and they just can not earn enough money to afford housing. According to Retail Council of Canada, Ontario minimum wage is $11.40 per hour ( Minimum , March 2017). However, the housing price is still expensive in Toronto. Even though the homeless works hard, they can not afford to pay for housing and other necessities. So, homeless people give up work and the vicious circle of poverty keeps repeating itself. Now, Orestes is caught in Apollo s net and kills his own mother. Lastly, Athene changes the meaning of the net from one of chaos to that of order and justice. These uses of the net imagery help the reader focus on a crucial theme in the play: the superiority of a formal justice system to one based on the individual quest for revenge by progressively altering the nets meaning and its affect on those around it. Clytemnestra s use of the net imagery focuses the reader on the drawback, that is, collateral damage, of a justice system that is based on the individual quest for revenge by emphasizing the collateral damage associated with revenge. As she stands over the bodies of Agamemnonand Cassandra she says: I wrapped in a great net not a fish could have slipped from the shoal (69). Involving the shoal in Clytemnestra s speech explains that with every revenge quest there are innocent people who suffer the repercussions. An avenger does not consider the bystanders surrounding the guilty person. Clytemnestra states that the net was so large that the fish could not escape the shoal. If the fish s fate is to be caught in the net yet it cannot escape the shoal, that means the shoal suffers the same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So why did Coca Cola receive such monumental uproar, if it made use of some of the fifteen basic appeals that make ads effective? Ultimately, the ad received backlash because, many [people] think that America the Beautiful is the country national anthem and English is this country s national language, noted in Indian Country Today ( Coca Cola s America the Beautiful Super Bowl Ad Causes Stir par 2). As a result, these individuals believe America the Beautiful should only be sung it the English language. When watching the whole video, the gust of winds gave a sign that something bad or creepy was going to unfold. The gust of winds sounded after he mentioned his mother that supported him. This also gave me a hint that his mother must have gone through something horrible. The way the wind blew as he said mother created a chilly atmosphere. Adding to the chilly atmosphere, the sound of slashes began in the middle of the film as the actor talks about the feeling of stabbing someone (Stokes). These slash noises can get the viewer s imagination to go insane with visuals of a brutal execution. Throughout the novels, we see both authors presenting the consequences of a controlling regime, and the severe dystopia that came about due to the political and social oppression which was taking place across Europe and USA. Whilst both books were being written, Orwell and Dick were facing the threat of Communism taking over the world. In 1949, Orwell published Nineteen Eighty Four (1984), and the world was in turmoil, it was a war stricken society filled with death and disappointment. Orwell s futuristic vision of society immediately tapped into the fear and uncertainty that was so prevalent at the time. Dick who wrote his book 14 years later than Orwell and Dick uses The Man In the High Castle (HC) as a foreshadowing of what could have happened, if the Nazis had of won the war. Both the authors present an obviously controlling society to the reader, which results in rebellion and exposing the flaws in the system. Both of these books ask the reader many different questions, not only about the endangerment of the future, but also, what it s like to live in such a controlling society. The presence of spies and secret rebellions show the struggles the regimes come under; interestingly both Orwell and Dick show that as quickly as a regime can be created it can also be destroyed. Chaucer s work, The Canterbury Tales, was the first major literary work done in the English. Chaucer expresses his feelings on the corruption of the church clergy in the General Prologue through the characters such as the Pardoner, the Prioress, and the Friar. These characters express many of the different misgivings of the clergy in that period. The Pardoner is described to be quite the physically unattractive man, but that is just the start. He is even uglier on the inside than he is on the outside. The Pardoner scams hard working people out of their money by selling false relics. He advertises pig s bones as the remains of saints, he uses a pillowcase as the veil of Mary and a sheet as the sail of Peter. The Pardoner tells the pilgrims that he is only preaching to make money, not for the love of god. Chaucer s Pardoner character is supposed to represent the greed and dishonesty within the clergy. Goya had been pleased with the liberal reforms and other changes that Napoleon had instituted in Spain, but was completely disgusted with what had happened during the war. Goya made a series of etchings and paintings depicting the atrocities of both sides involved with the war. The work focuses on the victims of the situation, which in this case are the Spanish citizens being executed. • 37. Citizen Kane Analysis Citizen Kane is a movie that can be rewritten and implemented into any film created today. In many ways, the storyline tells us more about ourselves than anything else and it relates to each one of us who has ever wished for a blah blah life. From his flamboyant adventures to the blah blah to his political agenda in his later years. Every film that came after Citizen Kaneowes a great deal to Orson Wellesbecause of the way he used music, shadows and lighting, and special effects, which without a doubt makes it one of the finest movies ever made. Some even call it the Mona Lisa of its time because Orson Welles was the first to implement these techniques, which revolutionize cinema forever. It is believed that more than 50 percent of the film involved special effects. One of the many reasons is because the film itself was made on a budget and the other being for the nature and scope of its subject (The Denny Life) to keep cost down. One of the methods that revolutionize cinematography was the introduction of a technique known as deep focus by Orson Welles. Deep focus is the use of having everything in the frame even the background in focus at the same time contrary to having only the people or object in the foreground in focus (The Denny Life). Moreover, the deep focus technique requires the cinematographer to combine lighting, composition, and type of camera lens to produce the desired effect. For example, Orson Welles use this technique in several occasions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This Digest describes a selection of adult education approaches to helping individuals negotiate the curriculum of life challenges. Beyond Life Skills In the 1990s, work/life balance caught the attention of researchers, policymakers, and employers, resulting in the development of a range of employment benefits, legislation, and programs aimed at helping people cope. Life management or family/career management curricula emphasize coping through the development of skills in communication, interpersonal effectiveness, and money, time, stress, and household management (e.g., California Community Colleges 1998; Mathieson 1999). As Caproni (1997) notes, research, policy, and practice focused on work/life balance have raised important issues and brought about changes that have benefitted some families. However, these approaches are incomplete in several ways. As Niles et al. (2001) point out, the usefulness of these types of responses benefits different segments of society differently. For the working poor, balancing work, nonwork, and life roles may be a luxury; they are likely to be far more circumspect in how they can commit their resources to family needs (p. 13). An analysis of the Indian reservationsystem in the US provides deeper insight to the idea that the treatment of natives has left profound, long lasting negative impacts on the lives of native Americans. BODY PARAGRAPH NUMBER 1: (PUT IN TOPIC SENTENCE) Some officials in the early years of the American republic, such as President George Washington, believed that the best way to solve this Indian problem was simply to civilize the Native Americans. The goal of this civilization campaign was to make Native Americans as much like white Americans as possible by encouraging them convert to Christianity, learn to speak and read English, and adopt European style economic practices such as the individual ownership of land and other property (including, in some instances in the South, African slaves). For an individual to be motivated in a work situation there must be a need, which the individual would have to perceive a possibility of satisfying through some reward. For instance, intrinsically motivated people work on job tasks because they find them enjoyable and interesting. Additionally, there is evidence showing that intrinsic motivation is positively correlated with learning, achievement, perception of competence and self efficacy. At the same time, it is negatively correlated with anxiety, depression, and frustration. An intrinsically motivated individual will be committed to his or her work to the extent to which the job inherently contains tasks that are inherently rewarding to him or her (Lei, 2010). Drawbacks of Intrinsic Motivation Although intrinsic motivation has numerous benefits, few drawbacks of intrinsic motivation should also be considered as well. An intense form of intrinsic motivation can reach to the point that employees can completely lose track of time and space, completely ignore authority and other important tasks, as well as not having enough time to learn or perform other essential tasks while learning and enjoying a particular academic activity.
