What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Scenario...
With the global economy developed, organizations have to live in a more complex and changeable
environment, making decision according to various factors that could make a difference, such as
technology, environment, regulation and policy etc. The ability to adapt changes and deal with
future possibility is vital for organizations to survive in a world changes rapidly. However, it seems
to be not sufficient to use traditional approaches of strategy in such highly uncertain, intensive and
complex competitive environment (Celeste Amorim Varum, 2010). Scenario planning is another
tool that has gained much attention during the last decades as an effective tool for sorting future
uncertainties and investigating assumptions in organizations (P. Schwartz, 1991).
Nowadays, future changes too rapidly to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We all know that future cannot be predicted even the weather forecast, which based on accurate
data, is not that precise sometimes. Scenario planning provides a solution for organizations to
develop in uncertainty by assuming various possibilities about future and help people to make a
better decision or plan accordingly.
In my opinion, there are three advantages of scenario planning which made it become widely used
by organizations in the process of decision making. Firstly, scenario planning can improve the
decision making mechanism and activate the managing system, improving the decision making
with a more scientific and interactive process. TAIDAв„ў is a primary model for scenario planning.
Hundreds of scenario projects have been carried out on the basis of the model in the past decade
(Mats Lindgren, 2003). TAIDA is short for five steps below: Tracking: trace changes and signs of
threats and opportunities by clarifying future trend; Analyzing: analyze consequences of the
changes and

Bradstreet s Upon The Burning Of Our House
The Puritans were people who had a deeply strong belief in the Lord. The Puritans believed that
God comes first in everything, and that their purpose in life was to magnify their Lord. This essay
will be covering the beliefs of the Puritans and how they practice their religion.
The Puritans trusted God through thick and then, and counted on him to make a way through
troubling times. As read in the poem, Upon the burning of our house And to my God my heart did
cry{Bradstreet 8} To strengthen me in my distress {Bradstreet 9}. In the poem Bradstreet was
praying for strength in a time which she was afraid. She was not afraid to admit that she was in
distress showing that Puritans came before their Lord humble.

The Reign Of Peter The Great
The reign of Peter the Great has been a source of considerable historical debate for many
contemporary and traditional historians. Especially, the transformation he made to Russian culture,
politics and economic, which arguably changed the foundations of society. Thus, the interval of
some three hundred years has allowed us to access Peter the Great s reforms more accurately but
we must consider that Russiaduring the late 17th century existed in different ethical and social
circumstances to our own contemporary society as to make it almost a foreign civilisation.
Judgements about Peter the Great using today s political and moral perspectives may have to be
tempered unless we are accused of historical and cultural relativism. Therefore, we must be careful
in analysing the impact that his many reforms caused and the lasting nature that they had on the
very foundations of Russian society.
Through his reign Peter revolutionised his country, reorganizing and strengthening the state and
army, conquering new territories and building new navy, a seaport, and a new capital in St.
Petersburg 1. The most significant change, Bushkovitch argues, was his campaign of
Europeanisating Russia s culture which saw the introduction of all forms of Western advancements
emerge into the society and by 1725, Russia had achieved the aim of entering on the European
stage. The ultimate objective was to at least equal if not surpass other European states while joining
them in their great power

America in the 1950 s Essay
America in the 1950 s
Society in America during the 1950 s was one that portrayed men and women in very different, but
rigid roles. Women were housewives, secretaries, and mothers. Men were providers, war heroes,
and businessmen. Television, newspapers and magazines played an important role as well in
determining ways men and women should behave. Advertisements for real estate were designed to
sell to the All American family. For example; Dad would be the returned home veteran who is now
running the company, Mom is an ideal housewife who works a couple days a week for extra
vacation cash, little Billy likes baseball and his sister Susie plays with dolls. Houses designed with
this type of family in mind would prove very effective in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A perfect home for a perfect All American family. Another attractive feature that Green Acres was
able to offer were low cost loans that were only available to veterans and their families. This
neighborhood was designed as a community for middle class families, who could live a solid,
humble, happy life around other families that wanted the same. It was affordable for the average
American family to purchase a home in this subdivision. Automobile manufacturers during this
time also used the same campaign as many advertisers did. They put phrases like coming home
and it s going to be all right in their ads to lure veterans coming home. Some companies played on
the fact that they were creating jobs for Americans. Therefore the automobile makers were keeping
America s economy strong and prosperous. By purchasing your vehicle through a company that
provides Americans with jobs and opportunities, you were doing your part to keep America s
economy going strong. The advertising was designed to put a sense of patriotism in veterans
returning home as well as the average consumer.
Women who worked during the fifties might have found it difficult looking for a job outside of
being a secretary or receptionist. Women in the workplace were not taken seriously and were
usually delivered the unimportant, meaningless jobs with little room for advancement. With titles

Essay on Biography of Astronomer, Vera Cooper Rubin
Vera Rubin
Biography
Vera Cooper Rubin was born July 23, 1928 in Philadelphia, PA. Her father was Philip Cooper, an
electrical engineer, and her mother Rose. She first developed an interest in astronomy at the age
of 10 while stargazing from her home in Washington D.C. Her father encouraged her to follow
her dreams and took her to amateur astronomer meetings. She earned her Bachelor s degree from
Vassar University in 1948 of which she was the only astronomy major that year. Later she earned
her master s from Cornell in 1950 with her masters thesis was controversial and centered around

Sciences. She is the author to several books and over 200 articles about galaxies and their motions.3
Famous For She is most notable for providing a great deal of compelling evidence, alongside Dr.
Kent Ford, that proved Fritz Zwicky s Theory of the existence of Dark Matter.2 Zwicky stated that
individual galaxies within the Coma Cluster were moving so fast that if they were only held by
the gravity of its visible mass that it would escape. Since he found no evidence of the cluster
falling apart he concluded that there must be something else holding it together that was nearly
10 times that of visible matter, he called this Dark matter.2 While working with Dr. Ford, they
began analyzing the light coming from stars in spiral galaxies. They used what is called the
Doppler effect which states the wavelength shift is proportional to the speed of the light source
relative to the observer. This uses the wavelength of light in how it is approaching or moving
away from the observer. When a light source moves away from you it presents a red color and
when it comes toward you it presents a blue light. After measuring several stars in different parts

Difference Between Wooden Motte And Bailey Castles
Because of a lack of a strong central government during feudal society, wars happened often. For
protection every noble built a castle. The first proper castles were built in England after the
Norman Conquest in 1066. Wooden motte and bailey castles were the first type of castle to be
built in England. The tower of the keepwas built a huge mound called a motte and had an
enclosed courtyard called a bailey. It would have been very difficult to get up the sides of the
motte because they were so steep. A ditch dug around the bottom of the motte also added
protection. The bailey was located at the bottom of the motte and could be up to three acres.
Followers of the lord who ran the castlelived inside the bailey. There were many buildings in the
bailey including bakeries, kitchens, houses, stables, and living quarters for soldiers.
Motte and bailey castles were quick and easy to build. Some could even be finished in a couple of
weeks. However, wooden buildings caught on fire easily and stone structures were much stronger.
Because of this, motte and bailey castles were soon replaced with stone castles.

They had two or three walls around the keep. Because the inside walls were built higher than the
outside walls, defenders could shoot arrows over the heads of the soldiers defending the outside
walls. Even if an enemy broke though the outer walls, there was a second castle defended and with
supplies waiting for them. Known as the death hole, being trapped between two walls of a castle
would result in almost certain death for the attacker. Some concentric castles even had moats for
more protection. After the invention of gun powder concentric castles became even more popular
because they could withstand bullets while a wooden castle could

Effects Of Stress On Young Adults
Deadlines. This can be a scary thing in the eyes of any student. Imagine coming back from a nice
long holiday break and your teacher assigns you a research project along with a 12 page paper
due by the end of the week. This is stressful enough but think of all the things you must
accomplish this week. Three AP classes that keep you on your toes, four online classes, a two
hour cheerleading practice as well as two, four hour ballgames; seven hours of dance class, and
a not so, Distinguished young woman s practice; it also doesn t help when your parents are gone
for seven days to go to a ballgame in Washington State Being a teenage could be described as the
most interesting and intense period in a persons life. (To be continued) Although there are some
benefits to positive stress, stress in young adults has become an overwhelming obstacle in the way
many of them function; managing, utilizing, and overcoming stress will help them become more
successful in life. Stress is the body s normal emotional and physical response to different stimuli
and different situations that it may encounter. Any situation, either positive or negative, may start
to become dangerous when it builds up to a point of being overwhelmed. It is a common
experience for teens to feel stress because they are starting to experience the world for the first
time. Teens are forced to think for themselves and are less sheltered from the problems facing our
world today, such as drugs and alcohol

The Bounded Decision-Making Process
The more frequently a person fills up the gasoline tank in their vehicle, the more likely they are to
consider purchasing a hybrid vehicle in the future. The proposed hypothesis is based on bounded
rationality. The cognitive decision making process allows for individuals to search for and review
alternative options and select the alternative that is most beneficial for the situation. Conversely,
cognitive dissonance, the condition of having inconsistent thoughts, beliefs or attitudes towards an
attitude object (in this case, the attitude object would be the gasoline that you are filling your tank
with), limits the alternatives in the decision making process and occurs due to bounded rationality.
Bounded rationality simply means that

good fit for me because the people are pretty easy going and so am I.
The country is made up very similar to us in its people according to http://www.indexmundi.com/ a
few positives for me is that the infant mortality rate is lower and the life expectancy is a little
higher in Australia. One big note is the obesity rate is 26% amongst adults versus 33% in the US. 0
Financially the country is very stable. Their GDP is 999 billion and their 5 year growth rate is 2.5.

Competitive Advantage Of Apple
Part A: Blog entries
Product Apple
Launching a product which meets and even exceeds customer needs is crucial to the success of
a company. An example of that type of company is Apple. The American based technological
giant has been dominating the market for years and there are several reasons for that. Firstly,
Apple s products make their users feel unique. It is the brand name and the quality, associated
with it, that make people love Apple. What is more, Apple has a lot of technological advantages
and resources, for example, they were the first company to launch a tablet the iPad. Finally, they
have a lot of skills in terms of knowledge and creativity of their employees. All of the above
mentioned reasons provide Apple with a competitive advantage.
I bought my first iPhone five years ago. At that time, I would have never thought that I would want
to use Apple products for the rest of my life. What I enjoy most about this product is its simplicity
as well as the amazing opportunities it gives to me. From guiding me through my jogging routine in
the park to finishing an assignment on my morning commute I can always count on my iPhone.

The Bill Of Rights By Donald Lutz Essay
Second, the political process defined by the national Constitution. There were two reasons the Bill
of Rights was dangerous, first, any listing was bound to leave out rights that would in the future be
considered important but by their absence from the bill of rights imply that they were not protected.
This meant that in order to ensure that every member of the public was represented, the list of
enumerated rights would need to be quite long.
The author, Donald Lutz continues, second, since bills of rights were statements of commonly
held values and commitments, and there were differences in these values from state to state, a
national bill of rights would either have to contain the least common denomination and thus leave
out things considered important by many people... That is to say, not every right on every state s
bill of rights could be included in the national Bill of Rights. So, some rights would need to be
eliminated despite the fact that they were important enough to be in a state s bill of rights. Or an
amalgamation of rights would be created by taking the rights state s bills of rights found most
important. Something has to give and there was no way to satisfy every person from every state.
Two of the most known and vocal Federalists were James Madison and Alexander Hamilton. These
two men had different effects on the creation of the Bill of Rights and because there is a Bill of
Rights appended to the Constitution this means the Federalist lost the

Adoption Is An Option That Is Not Discussed
REVIEW OF LITERATURE
Per Steven Ertelt, adoption is an option that is not discussed nearly enough in the public debate
about choice. With adoption, everybody wins. The unaborted, adopted child gets the chance to
live, and a chance to live in a place with loving, caring people. The adoptive parents in return
benefit from having a child of their own. Studies even show that children who were born out of
wedlock but are raised by adoptive parents flourish in many categories. The adoptive children tend
to attain higher levels of education, higher self esteem, and even enjoy better health. Adoption is
also beneficial for the birth mother because she benefits from knowing she made the right
decision to give life. Despite adoptions advantages, it has fallen on hard times. Research shows
there has been a decrease in adoptions since the legalization of abortions in 1973. Before
abortions were legalized, 8.7 percent of children born out of wedlock were placed up for adoption,
and now statistics show that number to be around one percent. One matter of concern for the pro
life movement is that women facing crisis pregnancies often have false ideas about adoption.
Pregnant women think of adoption as the abandonment of their child, and see abortion as a much
easier alternative (Ertelt n.p.).
According to Kevin Mcgovern, for most of the twentieth century, adoption provided a pretty good
outcome when a girl or woman became pregnant and was unable to raise her child. In an era where

The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
If you look at any company or organization, you are bound to find a list of values, things that
others view as positive qualities in a person. These could be things such as honesty, knowledge,
diligence, and compassion. Values set up a foundation for the organization, something for their
employees to follow and exemplify in their service to the general public. Employees can use their
organization s values to see what their strengths are and where they needto improve. Values also
provide a reference point when hiring new employees, helping employers to see which individuals

Compassion/Caring, Excellence, Integrity, Professional Duty, and Social Responsibility. It is

and see where my strengths and weaknesses lie. Out of these Core Values, I feel that I am

Informative Speech On Cervical Cancer Surgery
Cervical Cancer Surgery: What To Expect?
Cervical Cancer Topic Overview
The cervical cancer indicates the growth of abnormal cells on the cervix, which is the lower part
of the uterus that opens into the vagina. Cervical cancer has the ability to invade or spread to other
parts of the body. Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers in women worldwide as it is
the fourth most causes of death from cancer in women. The American Cancer Society estimates
that about 12,900 new cases of cervical cancer will be diagnosed in 2015 and about 4100 women

Hysterectomy: During this type of surgery for treating cervical cancer, the uterus and cervix is
removed.
2.Radical hysterectomy: Usually, this type of surgery is recommended for a very small
percentage of women with early cervical cancer. This procedure involves the removal of the
uterus and cervix as well as the surrounding tissue and the upper part of the vagina. During this
procedure, the lymph nodes in the pelvis are removed. If this surgery is performed on older
women then the ovaries are removed and if it is performed on the younger women, then the ovaries
are left behind so as to preserve the ovarian function.
3.Pelvic extenteration: This type of surgery is an option for women with recurrent or advanced
cervical cancer. During this surgery, the cervix, uterus, vagina, bladder, ovaries, rectum and nearby
lymph nodes are removed. The tissues from elsewhere from the body is used for reconstructing the
vagina. The urine and stool is made to pass into the external bags.
Cervical Cancer survival rates:
The five year survival rate is the percentage of women who survive at least for five years after
detection of cancer. The cervical cancer survival rates for all stages are about 68%. If the cervical

Leapfrog Case Analysis
LeapFrog Has Cash and Knows How to Use It
By Luke Edson
January 4, 2015
Summary
LeapFrog entered a highly anticipated retail holiday season with a very strong product lineup.
A balance sheet with no debt and cash in excess of total liabilities limits the downside risk.
Despite insider buying, recent poor performance has kept the stock price at a very low level; an
examination of valuation multiples and a DCF analysis imply a 50 70% upside.
Although it suffered poor performance in the wake of large inventory carryover following the 2013
holiday season, LeapFrog s management team has demonstrated that the company has great
potential as a children s educational entertainment company. LeapFrog entered the 2014 holiday
season with a very strong product lineup. Its three major products, the LeapPad 3, LeapTV, and the
LeapBand, all won awards from Dr. Toy, and LeapTV and LeapBand have no significant direct
competition. While the company operates in a competitive industry with relatively high capital
intensity, it has a balance sheet with no debt and very high cash reserves. Despite these strengths,
the company is trading at very low multiples. Insiders clearly agree that the stock is undervalued,
as the CEO, CFO, and an independent director all purchased shares in early November at prices
comparable to current ones. In this article, I will argue that LeapFrog s strengths outweigh its risks,
and that the stock offers an asymmetric risk/return opportunity for investors.

Reflection About Happiness
When I was around nine years old I lived in California. It was nothing fancy; we lived in a
standard house and I attended the elementary school I was zoned to. I was in the choir, too. The
choir was, if my memory does not fail me, a combination of fourth, fifth, and sixth graders. That
year the teacher had decided to use the song Happinessfrom the Broadway musical You re a Good
Man, Charlie Brown. While it was not a very good rendition of the piece, it stayed with me
throughout the years. For a long time I believed that happiness could be found in objects, in
buying plastic things that I would throw away a year later. But the song s catchy and
meaningful lyrics stayed in the back of my mind, providing me with a gentle reminder that my
happiness did not necessarily have to come from owning things. Despite popular belief,
happiness is not something that is bought. Happiness is not palpable. Up until a year ago, I
believed that in order to be truly happy a person had to have massive amounts of money and
materialistic products that did nothing to make them happy. Though that may be the case for
some, I found that happiness is not often found in the amount of clothes a person has, or the price
tag of their home or car. Happiness is not measured in dollars, or how many properties a person
owns, or even how much their house is worth. Happiness, to me, is a feeling that is found in
people, memories and moments. When I think of the word happy I see my grandparents house. The

College Admissions Are Pretty Simple
College admissions are pretty simple. They check your GPA and ACT/SAT test scores and see
if you match their expectations. If you do, they will take you. If you don t, they will reject you.
What about if you are stuck in the middle? What if you don t quite meet their expectations, but
you don t really fall below them? What s supposed to be a tie breaker or the cherry on top of the
cake is now a very controversial topic. Being a legacy student can have a significant impact in the

Not saying that universities and colleges only do this for money, they also do this for tradition,
better reputation, loyal students, and an overall appreciation for the college of the university.
Having legacy students at the institution will greatly benefit UW by receiving donations from them.
With colleges and universities becoming businesses, the high rate of monetary support by legacies
and their parents is viewed as crucial for that institution to be financially sound and successful.
Moreover, over three quarters of legacies have a parent with a high status occupation, compared to
about 62% of students with college degree parents and less than one third of students with no
degree parents. This means that the parents of legacy students are usually wealthier than non
legacies. This also means that with wealthier parents, the chance of a donation or donations to the
that college or university is most likely to substantially increase. Moving on, legacies arrive on
campus forming a distinct status group that is characterized by an abundance of economic, cultural
and social capital. With economic capital, they are more likely to participate in activities and spend
more money. And that s what colleges or universities want, more money. By partaking in college or

The United States And The Soviet War
Change upended Europe many times in the latter half of the 20th Century. After World War II, with
the rise of the United States and the USSR as the world s foremost superpowers, Europe split
between East and West. NATO allied Western Europe and the United States against the rise of
communism. The Warsaw Pact allied Eastern Europemilitarily. This effectively split Europeinto two
competing camps that ensured relative peace for the following decades. In 1989, however, that
changed entirely. With the borders and limits between East and West erased, Europe had to embrace
a new identity. They had to create a new definition for what it meant to be European . The West had
previously developed models and institutions that united multiple states, and communismunited the
East. When the two intermingled politically, economically and socially, there were going to be
growing pains. The East had to integrate into Western institutions because of the fall of
communism. Easterners tended to move west to find work and a new, higher standard of living.
This placed a significant burden on the West as a whole. Spurred by the mass migration of people
from the East to the West, the West responded by hindering Eastern states ability to integrate fully
with European institutions.
The revolutions of 1989 led to a movement of people westward, with repercussions resulting in the
West. With the fall of Communist Regimes in most countries happening peacefully, Eastern Europe

Radical Islam In The United States
Counter terrorism expert Steve Emerson, senior advisor to the RAND Corporation Brian Jenkins,
Ryan Mauro and the Clarion Project have documented and exposed the reality of radical Islam in
the United States. Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are
from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world (1 John 4:1, English Standard
Version). Since the attacks on 9/11, the American public has settled into a false sense of security
while the internet has enabled homegrown radicalization and enlarged the footprint of radical Islam
inside the United States. Many law enforcement officials fear that a new style of jihadist group is
appearing, a hybrid of foreign and homegrown terrorists (White,... Show more content on

Radical Islamic leaders like Osama Bin Laden have made it clear that religion is at the heart of
their terrorism and hate towards the West and particularly the American way of life. The internet
is not the only place where disenfranchised and vulnerable individuals are exposed to radical
ideology. The troubling reality is that clerics and mosques around the country allow their houses
of worship to be used as training grounds for radicalization. The common thread among these
organizations is their ideology of Political Islam which aspires to implement sharia governance
and to establish a global Islamic caliphate (Clarion Project, 2017). Within the Criminal Justice
System, radicalization and its threat to corrections and national security has resulted in creating a
balance between prevention and the First Amendment s Free Exercise Clause. The balance is
created through greater supervision by prison officials of chapel services, control of religious
materials in prison, enhanced staff training regarding Islam as a religion, increased screening of
chaplains and religious service (Popeo, 2006). The FBI s Don t Be A Puppet campaign attempts to
establish awareness of violent extremists groups in the youth population, which is most suitable to
radical ideological influences. Ultimately, the threats from radical Islam and its potential attacks
will be thwarted if more citizens immediately say something, when they see

Database Management Systems And Databases
Abstract:
NoSQL Databases also referred as Not only SQL databases. These NoSQL database have these
days gained much attention and reputation because of their performance and high scalability. The
advantage of NoSQL database is to store efficiently unstructured data. These days use of e
commerce websites, social networking sites etc. has been increased. These usage made to create
the need to store the large data. Some companies have adopted NoSQL databases, as their data is
growing. Dynamo, Big table, Voldemort, Cassandra are the NoSQL databases that are used by
Amazon, Google, and LinkedIn and Facebook respectively. Facing these huge data has become
challenging for Relational Database Management Systems. Hence NoSQL database came into
existence. Mostly Relational Database Management System satisfies ACID properties, through
NoSQL database we can achieve high level of Scalability and performance. As a lot of sensitive
data is stored in NoSQL databases security issues becomes growing concerns. This Paper explains
about overview of NoSQL databases like Cassandra, mongo dB and their security features.
Introduction:
Database Management Systems has some basic requirements. They are confidentiality, integrity and
Availability. Availability means the stored data should be available when needed. These data should
be available only to the authorized entities called as Confidentiality. If that data is modified by the
authorized entities it is called as integrity. The traditional

1.Increasing extracellular K+ reduces the net diffusion of K+ out of the neuron through the K+ leak
channels because the membrane is permeable to K+ ions. Therefore, the K+ ions will diffuse down
its concentration gradient from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration.
2.Increasing extracellular K+ causes the membrane potential to change to a less negative value
because the K+ ions diffuse out across the membrane. My results went well compared to my
prediction because I predicted that the resting membrane potential would become less negative.

The Importance Of Marketing Channels And Distribution
What is the importance of Marketing channels and distribution? Marketing channels has been used
in business operations for a long time. A marketing channel is made by the people, organizations,
and activities necessary to transfer the ownership of goods from the point of production to the point
of consumption. It is the way products and services get to the end user, the consumer; and is also
known as a distributionchannel. Distribution channels is a network of firms that are interconnected
in their quest to provide sellers a means of infusing the marketplace with its goods and buyers
purchasing of those goods. (Iacobucci, 2013) Distribution is one of the most important features that
one must consider in undertaking even a simple marketingchannel. Distribution and Marketing
channels are very important because they are the ones who help us find the products and services
that we greatly need. (Retrieve from Importance of Marketing) Today, electronic delivery sends
information to ones computers, smartphones, and other devices in ways that allow for more
immediate and continuous access anywhere, anytime, and with a better filing system than paper

their accounts regardless of location, which provides much desired flexibility and convenience.
Therefore, one needs to know the important role that marketing channels play to help the company

Analysis Of The American Dream In Death Of A Salesman
Death of Salesman is a story about an extremely hard working man, named Willy, and his family
who are struggling in fulfilling their dreams. In Death of a Salesman, Willy has many
conflicting feelings with his jobless son Biff. Throughout the story, Willy believes that success
will come to him if he works the hardest he can and by being famous in the spectrum of business
and jobs. Biff on the other hand realizes that this is not the way success is achieved and is more
angered by his father s delusions towards this idea. In the end of the book, Willy starts to realize
that Biff might be correct after all after Willy was fired from his job and decides to commit
suicide as a result to get insurance money for Biff to start a business. Willy s unshakeable pridein
this belief, also called The American Dream , ultimately led to his demise and most importantly
his death. In Death of a Salesman, Arthur Miller uses an illusional tone, repetition, and idiomatic
phrases to exemplify the idea that having excessive pride in a certain belief is going to
ultimately lead to a person s demise. Arthur Miller uses an illusive tone throughout the story
when Willy is discussing the success he had in his past. Although this tone makes it seem like
Willy is being treated unjustly because of his previous successes that is not necessarily true. The
quote, ... in 1928 I had a big year. I averaged a hundred and seventy dollars a week in
commissions (Miller 82) , shows how Willy s belief that he has worked and accomplished too
much to be fired by Howard. The statement Willy makes is actually false. In reality he was never
this successful and in return shows that he is not that much worth to the firm. This creates an
illusive tone because it shows a deceptive memory that was untrue and makes it seem like Willy
is being unfairly treated, but in reality is just showing that Willy has too much pride in himself to
the point that he remembers things that are untrue, thus alluding back to the purpose that having
too much pride in a belief is going to ultimately lead to their demise. Another way Miller shows
Willy s excessive pride is when Willy tries to emphasize the wonder of America by saying, ...and
that s the wonder, the wonder of

Science Fiction, And, Star Wars And The Time Machine
Science fiction, a genre which has elapsed over decades in the industry, has gained many
followers in its several forms of media. Science fiction, in the same sense, has also been analyzed
for its value and has received many Authorities in the sense that these individuals allow for a more
comprehensive look at this type of genre. Different types of subgenres have emerged due to the
enhancement of New Trains of Thought produced by these Authorities and have taken this genre
into a new perspective. Science fictions most prominent sub genres include works of Soft Science
Fiction, Hard Science Fiction, and Military Science Fiction. Works of film and text that have been
icons of this genre include titles such as Planet of the Apes , Twilight Zone , Star Wars and The
Time Machine . Technologyis an aspect that has been seen in these works and has been
distinguished for its advances. Science Fiction has allowed for the thoughts of the author to take
shape and one of the most used topic is the advancement of technology and where it may take
humanity. The work and ideology of Kathryn Cramer, David Hartwell, and Isaac Asimov have
helped to further understand the concept of technological advancements and their effects on human
moral decision making. The central idea of what makes a true work a Science Fiction that goes
beyond the aspect of enjoyment is the idea of humans and their inclination towards a dependency
on technology that inevitably leads towards a closer

Make Homemade Baby Food Essay
Making Homemade Baby Food
Making homemade baby food is not difficult. It is economically friendly and healthier than
purchasing commercially prepared food for your baby. Baby food recipes range from puree to
recipes incorporating table food into recipes for baby. It takes less time than you think to create
fresh, healthy baby food. Making homemade food assures you and your baby no preservatives are
used and baby is only getting nutritious and tasty food.
Things to Consider when Making Homemade Baby Food
Before making food for your baby, consult with your pediatrician, especially if this is the first
somewhat solid food the baby will be eating. Your pediatrician will suggest foods to introduce to
the baby and what foods should be eaten at specific ages or signs of maturing. If you choose fruits,

The Baby Food Process
After rice based cereal, your baby will most likely move on to pureed fruits, vegetables and meat.
Until you know what your baby will like, buy small quantities of fruits, vegetables and meat, unless
other family members consume lots of fruits, vegetables and meat. After proper washing cut the fruit
and vegetables in half and either boil, steam or bake them. If they are baked, place those in a
baking dish with enough water to almost cover the dish contents. Vegetables and fruit can be
peeled before or after cooking.
Small vegetables such as corn, peas and lima beans do not need to be halved. Bananas can just
be mashed and not cooked at all unless that is your preference. Frozen peas are much easier to

Avian Aspergillosis
Avian Aspergillosis
The subfamily Aspergillus has a wide range of fungi which can cause Avian Aspergillosis.
Aspergillus Fumigatus is the most commonly diagnosed species of the fungus, others include flavus
and niger. Aspergillus Fumigatus tends to thrive in moist and warm environments. Endotoxins are
released through the dispersal of microscopic spores, which usually become airborne. This enables
the disease to travel from one location to another and then proceed to grow, which creates areas that
are more highly populated compared to others. In small minorities the fungus is less likely to have
adverse consequences. Some factors concerning the environment that can increase the chances of a
bird inhaling spores are poor ventilation and sanitation, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Acute Avian Aspergillus can create a loss of appetite and can cause severe difficulty when
breathing. This can be seen by the bird showing signs of accelerated breathing, gasping and voice
changes. An infected bird might also have abnormal excretion, a strong thirst with excessive
urination or show signs of emaciation and central nervous system damage. This severe damage
will be evident in an obvious lack of muscular coordination and mobility; the bird might also hold
its head at an unnatural angles. Central nervous system damage will only occur if the fungal
infection reaches the brain. The most common signs of Avian Aspergillosis are drooped wings and
rapid opening and closing of the bird s bill. The fungus usually affects the respiratory region
including the trachea, lungs and syrinx; the infection can however spread to the kidneys, brain,
skin, and muscles. Since Aspergillus can be fatal, a lot of birds are diagnosed post mortem. The
signs from an autopsy can include brain tissue death or meningoencephalitis; white nodules can also
be evident. These small growths are evidently what cause erosion through the tissue, enabling a vast
amount of conidia to enter the

The Shadow Of A Gunman

that, three plays; The Shadow of a Gunman, Juno and the Paycock, and The Plough and the Stars.
Of those three, I chose to examine The Shadow of a Gunman. This was the very first of the three
plays to be accepted into Abbey Theater and is set in May of 1920. The author himself, Sean O

One last point that I believe will tie everything together by the end is that of romanticism in
relation to nationalism. Although these themes sound similar they each have their own distinct
differences, and I believe intertwined is what made this play great and gave the audience
something to gravitate to because it was relatable in their own lives, and soon enough it will be
explained just how. In the Second Act, Davoren s roommate Seumas Shield s makes a comment
in reference to the war that is continuing to rage on: The country is gone mad...It s the civilians
that suffer...Shot in the back to save the British Empire, an shot in the breast to save the soul of
Ireland (Pg. 40) Shield s continues on past this line on his belief that this battle for nationalism is
a much more dangerous environment for the average citizen than it is for the forces actually
fighting. The shot in the back by the British obviously is illustrating the ill fated relationship
between the two sides, as the British do not care about the Irish and who they are, referring to
them British as cowards for shooting behind them. As for the breast shot to save Ireland, it is
important he notes the shot in the breast, right in the chest. The opposite position of the shot
shows how even right in front of you, you can still be killed by your own people to save
Ireland . This connection shows Shield s more of a cynical view of nationalism, as seen in Irish

The participants in the derivatives markets are generally classified as hedgers and speculators. The
hedgers use derivatives as main purpose to protect against adverse changes while speculators enter
a derivative contract with attempt to profit from anticipated changes in market prices. One of the
biggest questions in regard to the treatment of derivatives tools is whether actually they are used for
hedging or speculation. (Adam and Fernando 2006)
According to Guay (1999) firms can reduce dramatically their risk by the means of derivatives. But

Konthari (2001) find out that even the firms with large derivatives positions do not show a

speculations with derivatives. Furthermore, they also detect that the same companies do not have a
significant decrease in their risk. These findings lead them to the conclusion that firms derivatives
use does not measurably increase or decrease their return volatility . (Hentchel and Konthari 2001,

Stulz (1996) find that many firms use successfully derivatives as a tool for hedge for short term
contracts or in cases when they have large taxes or poorly diversified portfolios. By using
derivatives to hedge the risk companies increase their leverage and in this way reduce the tax
liabilities. In other words, the use of derivatives increases the level of leverage. (Stulz 1996) Other
theories suggest that some holders of call option can benefit from the use of derivatives if they
produce higher volatility. (Black and Scholes 1973). But according to the research of Hentschel and
Kothari (2001) there is no enough evidence for such thesis.

Packing The Endocnabinoid System
The overall goal of my research is to better understand the roles that fatty acid binding proteins
(FABPs), specifically epidermal FABP (FAPB5) and brain FABP (FABP7), play within regulating
the endocannabinoid system and to understand the role of FABP in addiction. The endocannabinoid
system is linked with the rewarding effects of abused drugs. Central to the endocannabinoid system
is the cannabinoid type 1 receptor (CB1R), which is expressed ubiquitously throughout the brain.
Within the brain reward circuit, activation of CB1Rs regulates the strength and plasticity of
glutamate and GABA synapses. Specifically, dopaminergic projections from the ventral tegmental

Hill and colleagues (20??) have demonstrated that endocannabinoids are important to regulating the
activation and fast feedback mechanism of the HPA axis in the basolateral amygdala. Therefore
corticosterone was also examined by sandwich enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA),
under both basal conditions and while the animal was stressed. The results of the study were unlike
FAAH inhibition. Inhibition of FABP5 and 7 decreased both the preference and consumption of

These results suggest that the inhibition of FABP5 and 7 may be hindering AEA ability to interact

genetically modified animals consumed significantly more ethanol compared to wildtype animals.
Conversely, following 30 minutes restrain stress, the FABP5 KO animals had a reduced
corticosterone response compare to the wildtype animals. These results contradicted our previous
study, using the pharmacological inhibition of

Pros And Cons Of Brian Mulroney
Martin Brian Mulroney was the 18th Prime Minister of Canada and indeed a leader full of great
qualities (Sawatsky 7). Born in a small town in Quebec, Mulroney was a bilingual Anglophone who
harbored a tremendous political ambition (22). He belonged to the Progressive Conservative party
and came to power in 1984 (Parker 22). Mulroney significantly affected the Canadian history
through his socio political, environmental and economic reforms. He had a powerful, tremendous
and symbolic impact on Canadian history, socio politically by passing the Indian Act, the
Multiculturalism Act and introducing Meech Lake and Charlottetown Accords., environmentally

First of all, the introduction of Goods and Services Tax by Mulroney built the foundation for
eliminating federal deficit, which occurs when the government spends more money than it makes
(Parker 22). Deficit increased the selling off of the capital assets in Canada to finance the purchases
of slowly diminishing goods and services, which undermined future production and raised
unemployment rates and inflation (Swatsky 309). Not only did the introduction of GST
overcame deficit by a significant amount, it also proved to be an important source of generating
revenues, improving the competitive position of Canada s economy in the world and acting as
an efficient way for managing the country (Good and Bad sides of GST). This could be justified
though the fact that when Mulroney introduced the GST, the revenues grew by one third, and
GDP by 1.2%. Although it was not enough to stop deficit at first, it did slow it down and
eventually hauled it (Coyne). But at the same time, his attempt to stop deficit limited his ability
to deliver the promises he made in terms of services and infrastructures.(Info base Learning).
Secondly, the signing off the Free Trade Agreement with United States and North American
Free Trade Agreement with the addition of Mexico came as a great economic contribution to
Canadian history as it marked the creation of the largest free trade region in the world. With the
elimination of tariff and non tariff barriers, NAFTA opened gates for Canada towards economic
prosperity and growth. With no imposed taxes, NAFTA provided Canada access to the wider
range of Mexican and U.S markets, expanding Canada s productivity and allowed Canada to
attract more U.S investors, firms and companies to Canada, to invest in the wide variety of natural

The liability issue was introduced to the Indian Parliament by invoking the horror of the Union
Carbide Bhopal Gas tragedy incident where a gas leak from the Union Carbide operated pesticide
plant resulted in the death of thousands of civilians. The CLNDA 2010 has a simple purpose in
that, it makes sure the victims of a nuclear accident can receive quick compensation, without having
to prove that the plant operator is negligent irrespective of who is at fault.
In light of President Barack Obama s landmark visit to India this year, the two nations reached a
tentative agreement regarding the nuclear liability issue in terms of shared risk and U.S tracking of
nuclear material. The main idea was to transfer the financial risk to the insurers in case of an
accident.
The US India civil nuclear deal (123 Agreement) had been stalemated for several years on 2 counts
1) The Liability clause that the US companies (GE and Westinghouse) saw as affecting their
profitability the compromise worked out is the creation of some kind of an insurance pool. Under

Since SeaWorld s opening in 1959, they are responsible for at least sixty two deaths of innocent
whales (Krushel 1). This number will only continue to rise if SeaWorld does not stop capturing
orcas. SeaWorld is an aquarium theme park that has locations in San Diego, Florida, Texas and
Virginia. The park has orca shows where the whales perform on a regular basis and receive much
controversy. It is revolting that people still find enjoyment in watching these sophisticated
mammals do tricks in a concrete environment. Though many believe that parks like SeaWorld are
necessary for educational purposes, they need to realize that these animals are not here so we can
seize them from their natural habitats and watch them swim in cramped tanks.... Show more content

The controversy of SeaWorld s whale captivity is not only a threat to the animals themselves, but
to the trainers and other whales in confinement as well. Three whales at the theme park had
either agonized or even drowned a human, meanwhile, It is not in an orca s nature to threaten
humans (Orcas Shouldn t Be Held Captive). The reason for the unexpected violence in the orcas
is the fact that they have been abducted from their homes and brought into an environment
millions of times smaller than what they were used to. It is unquestionable that The artificial
environment of captivity causes stress and anxiety for orcas, resulting in aggressive behaviors
toward other whales and humans (Orcas Shouldn t Be Held Captive). Oak Bay s Sealand of the
Pacific held three whales, two females and one male in the same enclosure. Since the male was
from a different family group, he was often harassed by the females. It is clear that the orcas at
SeaWorld are not in a safer place than they were in the wild and should have rights to protect
them from being kept as drudgers by places like SeaWorld. Even though the SeaWorld slavery
case was turned down, PETA spokeswoman Colleen O Brien said, Today s decision does not

Speech Year 12
Paul Keating s speech funeral service of the unknown Australian soldier and Noel Pearson s speech
an Australian history for us all have developed and expressed ideas using language appropriate to
their audience, purpose and form. Despite the fact, it is fundamentally the speaker s skills in the
construction of the speech that determine its decisive success.
Remembrance Day. A time of reflection on those who sacrificed themselves for our country,
Australia. In considering the value of Remembrance Day, we need also to consider the value of
one of the most prominent Remembrance Day speeches, Paul Keating s `Funeral Service of the
Unknown Soldier in 1993, at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.

One of the key factors in crafting a persuasive piece of rhetoric is tailoring your message to the
specific audience. This information will help you decide what sorts of facts to incorporate into
your rhetoric as well as help you determine which means of persuasion would be the most
effective to employ. Your evidence. When planning your speech or writing, collect any and
every type of evidence you can find. Evidence could be facts, statistics, laws, and individual
testimonies. It s always good to have a nice blend, but remember different audiences are
persuaded by different types of evidence. Some people need cold, hard facts and statistics in order
to be persuaded. Others find the testimony of peers or a reputable authority to be more convincing.
Part of getting to know your audience is figuring out what kinds of evidence they will find most
credible and compelling
Noel Pearson s speech an Australian history for us all discusses his approach to trying to solve
some of the most systemic problems facing Australian Aboriginals today. The speakers are
successful in understanding the ideas and values of the speech. Through the uses of various
language techniques and context, Pearson s speech details the struggles of the relationship between
the first European settlers and Aboriginal Australians.
In Pearson s speech, the criticism of John Howard, who was at the time the Prime Minister,

The Pride And Joy Of The Family
They ve always called me superstitious, even mad. They ve always called the happening a
coincedence. But I know better and so does Uncle Van, if he is still alive. It occured late at night.
Not a particularly blustery, terrifying, or paralyzing night. On the contrary, it was rather ordinary,
with a light dusting of snow on the pavement. After a round of holiday excursions, an uneventful
evening with just the family(such as it was) was quite welcome, though others might have called it
depressing. We were all gathered around the fire, on the last night of the old year. Julie, the
veritable pride and joy of the family, was there, and so were my father and mother, little Ross,
and a small army of aunts, uncles, and cousins. And then of course, there was Uncle Van. Uncle
Van was semi legendary in the family. Nobody knew much about him. Why he had shown up at
all was a mystery in itself. He looked quite young, but he was old. No one knew how old. His hair
was graying only at the edges, and he step was brisk and lively. His age was only betrayed in his
old, old, eyes. Uncle Van possessed a certain genius for storytelling. I confess that I had spent
many of the previous weeks making eyes at Julie, who had come to stay for the holidays. But for
hours, Uncle Van had held us under a spell, and we sat as wide eyed and open mouthed as any naive
babe and listened to the tales of myth, mystery, and magic that he told us. Even to this day, I

Main Themes In Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar
Sylvia Plath is a writer renowned for her intense and personal poems. But she is also known for
her semi autobiographical novel, The Bell Jar, a work very lightly veiled as fiction. In the
coming of age book The Bell Jar , Plath takes us into the mind of the 19 year old narrator, Esther
Greenwood, and her descending into the grip of mental illness. Set in the 1950s, Esther is a
bright and aspiring writer working as an intern for a busy magazine in New York along with
fellow college students. Her promiscuous friend Doreen sets her up on an ill fated date: but things
start to go downhill. On the date, a violent man nearly rapes her. Not only that, but she also goes
home to Boston to find out that her application to a writing class she was keen... Show more content

First, the novel opens with Esther reading a newspaper article of a morbid execution. The
dreadfulness of the execution and the grim thoughts of cadavers weigh on her. Additionally, she
tells the reader how she isn t feeling like she is having the time of her life, despite the envy that
comes from the hustle and bustle of living in New York City. I felt very still and very empty, the
way the eye of a tornado must feel, moving dully along the middle of the surrounding hullabaloo
. Definitely, throughout the novel, she is preoccupied with death and feels alienated: signs of
her depression. Speaking of alienation, Esther is indeed an unconventional woman for her time.
It must be noted that The Bell Jar takes place in the 1950s, a period where the feminine,
domestic, dutiful, good wife is the archetype that women are expected to follow. Needless to say,
Esther is rather interested in pursuing her ambition as a writer. However, we can see that she is
still wavering should she follow the constrictive women s roles of the 50s, or pursue her literary
passion? This brings us to the fig tree. The fig tree is a metaphor used in the novel that represents
all the things Esther could be a mother, a famous poet, a lover, and so forth. However, she could
not pick one fig because she is uncertain about her

Drinking Culture In Advertising
We are all slaves. Every day we wake up to do the same thing we always do. The Bose alarm
clock rings. We get out of bed our La Z Boy bed. We hazily get dressed into our monday Croft
Barrow shirt. We get in our Subaru and rush to Starbucks for our morning coffee. We get the
same Egg McMuffin from McDonalds for breakfast. By the time we get to the office, we have
already engaged with at least ten corporate brands, and we just take it for granted. We live in a
constant state of rhetoric. But why do we own what we have? What we own really does make a
statement for who we are. Who we are is shaped by the world around us, and no matter where we
look, there are brands. Why did we choose that brand of soap? Why do we drive this car? Why do
we drink that beverage? Companies have been advertising their goods since consumerism was

We are gradually becoming more and more lenient about people doing immoral things to the
point where it is very hard to do anything taboo. In alcohol commercials we always see people
having a great time, however surely we all know someone who has spent their night leaning over
a toilet vomiting due to excessive drinking. Commercials promoting alcohol never show
anybody hammered. These ads make us believe that alcohol will bring us fun, fortune and sex,
but how many people have gotten divorced over alcoholism? It s even more ironic that
commercials selling hard liquor (i.e. Grey Goose, Bacardi, etc.) have all the elements of a good
time, but they add a dash of sophistication into the mix. Liquor commercials usually revolve
around males in suits ultimately flirting with women in dresses; whereas beer commercials are a
bunch of everyday joe s living life

Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead Characters
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v= t5UTLkfoUs
Benedict Cumberbatch has played major roles in theatre, television, and film; however, my favorite
role of his was in the play Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead by Tom Stoppard. Cumberbatch,
in his role as Rosencrantz, portrays an honorable depiction of the technique and feeling desired of in
an actor. As one of the protagonists in the play, Cumberbatch has to create a parallel between the
play s character and him to add truth to his performance. Once the play begins, Cumberbatch
immediately reveals Rosencrantz s character traits by integrating confusion, drawn out pauses,
existentialist questions, and circular arguments to his body language and actions.

Social Hierarchy In High School
Social Hierarchy Of High School High School can be the perfect place for you; you can find
right where you click. That s where the High School social hierarchy comes into play. People
can mostly be put into certain personality categories, but some people can jump from one group
to another. These categories are as follows: The jokers, the snitches(AKA the teacher s pets), the
backgrounders, the friendlies, the suppliers, the losers(the name for the losers will be explained
in their paragraph.), the nerds, and then cools. These categories do not define whom you can
hang out with. First up is the jokers. These are the kids who always somehow manage to make
everything into a joke and always try to get the teacher off track when in class. The jokers are
almost always getting into some kind of trouble, for they never know when to stop joking or
playing. These kids are almost always in detention, suspended, or late for class. They are the
absolute polar opposite of the snitches(AKA the teacher s pets). Jokers are never be caught dead
sucking up to a teacher just to be in their good graces. Next is the snitches(AKA the teacher s
pets); they are never in trouble. These kids despise getting in trouble and having to go to
detention. They are never late to class, and always have their work done as soon as possible(they
never leave work until the last minute unless absolutely necessary). Snitches(AKA the teacher s
pets) hate the bad or troubled kids. They think they are no good,

Argumentative Essay On Mammoth Evolution
Throughout time, there has been an untraceable amount of genetic mutations within different
organisms that has promoted evolution. These mutations may have represent very dramatic
physical differences in appearance, while others may be very subtle. In effect, the study of
evolution has intrigued many scientists, paleontologists, and evolutionary biologists to discover
why and how organisms evolve, and what ancestors are linked to a specific organism. In effect, the
study of mammoth evolutionhas been a very popular subject in recent years. Due to their rapid
changes, scientists and paleontologists alike have been very keen to learn the truth behind
differences in mammoths and how they ultimately evolved. This lead to many different tests being
performed throughout the years to conclusively discover how several particular classes of
mammoths actually evolved and what drove the changes within. The arguments of mammoth
evolution discussed in this paper are not completely factual, for there is not enough evidence behind
studies to confirm these tests and experiments as completely factual; rather everything that will be
discussed will be based on scientific theory. Due to this, do not... Show more content on

It might be very distant, but in general, everything evolved from everything. Science has allowed
us to draw these connections and discover how and why organisms evolved. In past years, mainly
the fossil record and DNA testing has been the primary way of depicting these evolutionary traits,
but I believe that we will become very advanced, whether that be technologically or scientifically,
in our methods of depicting evolutionary amongst organisms. Maybe we then will be able to
clearly observe the differences between Eurasian and North American mammoths, or be able to
decipher if hybridization has occurred. Whatever it may be, our knowledge of the world around us
continues to grow and expand each

The Twenty Thousand Dollar Death
There are numerous reasons that might have caused Willy Loman to end his life. In Arthur
Miller s play, Death of a Salesman, Loman is in conflict with his son, Biff Loman, his job as a
salesman, and himself. In the play Loman s job as a salesman no longer became beneficial to
him and his family. As time passed by, new ideas and younger salesmen began to take over the
salesman industry, and Loman was left behind. His wife, Linda, and he discuss all of the bills
that have to be paid by the end of the month, including their house payment. However, since
Loman was taken off salary and is only on commission, he is only bringing home seventy dollars
a week. Loman s concern about their financial status is displayed when he says to his wife
Linda, A hundred and twenty dollars! My God, if business don t pick up I don t know what I m
gonna do (Miller 1490). Unfortunately, Loman and his wife Linda have no support from their
sons, Biff and Happy, since neither of them have a career. In addition to not having a career, their
relationship towards each other was not secure due to Loman s unfaithfulness. Several years back
into Loman s daily flashbacks, Biff found his dad with another woman in a hotel during a trip in
Boston. For all his life, Biff thought of his dad as a hero until he was proved wrong the night at
the hotel. Everything and everyone changed after that night. Biff gave up football and referred to
his dad as a, phony little fake (1542). Although, Biff and Loman

Stock Market Crash
The stock market and its crash is argued by some historians in being a key impetus towards the
great depression. The reality of the stock market was that many lived far below the poverty line
and much of the investments which were carried out were bought on the margin . Additionally,
there had been an immense amount of unregulated speculation resulting in huge debt as the levels
of stock prices exceeded real economic growth, resulting in a continued lack of confidence and a
fragile banking system. This resulted in an enormous crash to the extent that the Bull Market was
described as dead and billions of dollars of profits were discarded. In association with the
weaknesses within the banking system, the fact that most of the rural banks were... Show more

Graubard further continues to argue that Hoover s domestic policies were limited and gave little
satisfaction towards a society surrounded by mass unemployment, huge losses of income as well as
savings. In addition to this, the increase in unemployment resulted in the government being faced
with highly increased expenditure on welfares. In 1931, it raised income tax and cut
unemployment pay by 10 per cent and introduced the means test. These measures reduced the
amount of money people had to spend and therefore in this regard the government can be argued to
have played a significant role in causing the Great Depression. As a result, Hoover is often
criticised from both sides with regards for doing too little too late, however he is also criticised for
doing too much.
Overall, it is clear that various historians have argued on different factors being the prime reasons
for the cause of the great depression, therefore the main reason for the cause of the great depression
can vary when looking at historical interpretations of the period and the opinions surrounding the
issue. Examples of key historians which differ in their interpretations towards the causes of the
great depression include Anthony Badger, Paul Johnson and Milton Friedman

The Dining Room Was Absolutely Silent
The dining room was absolutely silent, only the sounds of chewing and silverware clatter were
audible. The tension was thick enough to run a knife through, it made no sense why it had
gotten this bad. The mother of the family, Else, sat in the right end of the table, her husband,
Carter, in the other end. Their five children sat in the sides of the table. The smallest of the five,
Evelyn, who is eleven years old, sat closest to her mother. Next to her was her older brother,
Lester, who is 15. Closest to dad was one of the twins, Isaac, who is 13. Across were the final
siblings, Louis, the oldest of the five, and the remaining twin, Isaiah. Their dog sat a few meters
away from them, waiting anxiously for his share of food. Evelyn thought nothing of the whole
silence thing, it was frequent at dinner time, especially after his bigger brother had a secret to
share with their parents. She didn t know what it was, but she guessed it was bad. The twins had
a better idea of what might have upset their parents and the oldest brothers a lot. They remember
Lester bringing a boy one particular night, and let s just say, it ended in a frightful scream and a
big fight between the older boys and their parents. The three siblings shared a few looks, they
were all clueless of what was stirring with the elders. Ever so often, the three would get occasional
looks from the older boys, but never their parents. Their parents just looked at each other and at

  • 2. What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Scenario... With the global economy developed, organizations have to live in a more complex and changeable environment, making decision according to various factors that could make a difference, such as technology, environment, regulation and policy etc. The ability to adapt changes and deal with future possibility is vital for organizations to survive in a world changes rapidly. However, it seems to be not sufficient to use traditional approaches of strategy in such highly uncertain, intensive and complex competitive environment (Celeste Amorim Varum, 2010). Scenario planning is another tool that has gained much attention during the last decades as an effective tool for sorting future uncertainties and investigating assumptions in organizations (P. Schwartz, 1991). Nowadays, future changes too rapidly to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We all know that future cannot be predicted even the weather forecast, which based on accurate data, is not that precise sometimes. Scenario planning provides a solution for organizations to develop in uncertainty by assuming various possibilities about future and help people to make a better decision or plan accordingly. In my opinion, there are three advantages of scenario planning which made it become widely used by organizations in the process of decision making. Firstly, scenario planning can improve the decision making mechanism and activate the managing system, improving the decision making with a more scientific and interactive process. TAIDAв„ў is a primary model for scenario planning. Hundreds of scenario projects have been carried out on the basis of the model in the past decade (Mats Lindgren, 2003). TAIDA is short for five steps below: Tracking: trace changes and signs of threats and opportunities by clarifying future trend; Analyzing: analyze consequences of the changes and ... • 4. The Reign Of Peter The Great The reign of Peter the Great has been a source of considerable historical debate for many contemporary and traditional historians. Especially, the transformation he made to Russian culture, politics and economic, which arguably changed the foundations of society. Thus, the interval of some three hundred years has allowed us to access Peter the Great s reforms more accurately but we must consider that Russiaduring the late 17th century existed in different ethical and social circumstances to our own contemporary society as to make it almost a foreign civilisation. Judgements about Peter the Great using today s political and moral perspectives may have to be tempered unless we are accused of historical and cultural relativism. Therefore, we must be careful in analysing the impact that his many reforms caused and the lasting nature that they had on the very foundations of Russian society. Through his reign Peter revolutionised his country, reorganizing and strengthening the state and army, conquering new territories and building new navy, a seaport, and a new capital in St. Petersburg 1. The most significant change, Bushkovitch argues, was his campaign of Europeanisating Russia s culture which saw the introduction of all forms of Western advancements emerge into the society and by 1725, Russia had achieved the aim of entering on the European stage. The ultimate objective was to at least equal if not surpass other European states while joining them in their great power ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Women were housewives, secretaries, and mothers. Men were providers, war heroes, and businessmen. Television, newspapers and magazines played an important role as well in determining ways men and women should behave. Advertisements for real estate were designed to sell to the All American family. For example; Dad would be the returned home veteran who is now running the company, Mom is an ideal housewife who works a couple days a week for extra vacation cash, little Billy likes baseball and his sister Susie plays with dolls. Another attractive feature that Green Acres was able to offer were low cost loans that were only available to veterans and their families. This neighborhood was designed as a community for middle class families, who could live a solid, humble, happy life around other families that wanted the same. It was affordable for the average American family to purchase a home in this subdivision. Automobile manufacturers during this time also used the same campaign as many advertisers did. They put phrases like coming home and it s going to be all right in their ads to lure veterans coming home. Some companies played on the fact that they were creating jobs for Americans. Therefore the automobile makers were keeping America s economy strong and prosperous. By purchasing your vehicle through a company that provides Americans with jobs and opportunities, you were doing your part to keep America s economy going strong. The advertising was designed to put a sense of patriotism in veterans returning home as well as the average consumer. Since he found no evidence of the cluster falling apart he concluded that there must be something else holding it together that was nearly 10 times that of visible matter, he called this Dark matter.2 While working with Dr. Ford, they began analyzing the light coming from stars in spiral galaxies. They used what is called the Doppler effect which states the wavelength shift is proportional to the speed of the light source relative to the observer. This uses the wavelength of light in how it is approaching or moving away from the observer. When a light source moves away from you it presents a red color and when it comes toward you it presents a blue light. After measuring several stars in different parts ... • 7. Difference Between Wooden Motte And Bailey Castles Because of a lack of a strong central government during feudal society, wars happened often. For protection every noble built a castle. The first proper castles were built in England after the Norman Conquest in 1066. Wooden motte and bailey castles were the first type of castle to be built in England. The tower of the keepwas built a huge mound called a motte and had an enclosed courtyard called a bailey. It would have been very difficult to get up the sides of the motte because they were so steep. A ditch dug around the bottom of the motte also added protection. The bailey was located at the bottom of the motte and could be up to three acres. Followers of the lord who ran the castlelived inside the bailey. There were many buildings in the bailey including bakeries, kitchens, houses, stables, and living quarters for soldiers. Motte and bailey castles were quick and easy to build. Some could even be finished in a couple of weeks. However, wooden buildings caught on fire easily and stone structures were much stronger. The proposed hypothesis is based on bounded rationality. The cognitive decision making process allows for individuals to search for and review alternative options and select the alternative that is most beneficial for the situation. Conversely, cognitive dissonance, the condition of having inconsistent thoughts, beliefs or attitudes towards an attitude object (in this case, the attitude object would be the gasoline that you are filling your tank with), limits the alternatives in the decision making process and occurs due to bounded rationality. There were two reasons the Bill of Rights was dangerous, first, any listing was bound to leave out rights that would in the future be considered important but by their absence from the bill of rights imply that they were not protected. This meant that in order to ensure that every member of the public was represented, the list of enumerated rights would need to be quite long. The author, Donald Lutz continues, second, since bills of rights were statements of commonly held values and commitments, and there were differences in these values from state to state, a national bill of rights would either have to contain the least common denomination and thus leave out things considered important by many people... That is to say, not every right on every state s bill of rights could be included in the national Bill of Rights. So, some rights would need to be eliminated despite the fact that they were important enough to be in a state s bill of rights. Or an amalgamation of rights would be created by taking the rights state s bills of rights found most important. Something has to give and there was no way to satisfy every person from every state. Two of the most known and vocal Federalists were James Madison and Alexander Hamilton. These two men had different effects on the creation of the Bill of Rights and because there is a Bill of Rights appended to the Constitution this means the Federalist lost the ... • 15. Adoption Is An Option That Is Not Discussed REVIEW OF LITERATURE Per Steven Ertelt, adoption is an option that is not discussed nearly enough in the public debate about choice. With adoption, everybody wins. The unaborted, adopted child gets the chance to live, and a chance to live in a place with loving, caring people. The adoptive parents in return benefit from having a child of their own. Studies even show that children who were born out of wedlock but are raised by adoptive parents flourish in many categories. The adoptive children tend to attain higher levels of education, higher self esteem, and even enjoy better health. Adoption is also beneficial for the birth mother because she benefits from knowing she made the right decision to give life. Despite adoptions advantages, it has fallen on hard times. Research shows there has been a decrease in adoptions since the legalization of abortions in 1973. Before abortions were legalized, 8.7 percent of children born out of wedlock were placed up for adoption, and now statistics show that number to be around one percent. One matter of concern for the pro life movement is that women facing crisis pregnancies often have false ideas about adoption. Pregnant women think of adoption as the abandonment of their child, and see abortion as a much easier alternative (Ertelt n.p.). According to Kevin Mcgovern, for most of the twentieth century, adoption provided a pretty good outcome when a girl or woman became pregnant and was unable to raise her child. In an era where ... These are Accountability, Altruism, Compassion/Caring, Excellence, Integrity, Professional Duty, and Social Responsibility. It is important for me, as a future Physical Therapist Assistant, to look at the APTA s Core Values and see where my strengths and weaknesses lie. Out of these Core Values, I feel that I am strongest is Compassion/Caring. Throughout my life, I have always been concerned with the wellbeing of others. Leapfrog Case Analysis LeapFrog Has Cash and Knows How to Use It By Luke Edson January 4, 2015 Summary LeapFrog entered a highly anticipated retail holiday season with a very strong product lineup. A balance sheet with no debt and cash in excess of total liabilities limits the downside risk. Despite insider buying, recent poor performance has kept the stock price at a very low level; an examination of valuation multiples and a DCF analysis imply a 50 70% upside. Although it suffered poor performance in the wake of large inventory carryover following the 2013 holiday season, LeapFrog s management team has demonstrated that the company has great potential as a children s educational entertainment company. LeapFrog entered the 2014 holiday season with a very strong product lineup. Its three major products, the LeapPad 3, LeapTV, and the LeapBand, all won awards from Dr. Toy, and LeapTV and LeapBand have no significant direct competition. While the company operates in a competitive industry with relatively high capital intensity, it has a balance sheet with no debt and very high cash reserves. Despite these strengths, the company is trading at very low multiples. Insiders clearly agree that the stock is undervalued, as the CEO, CFO, and an independent director all purchased shares in early November at prices comparable to current ones. In this article, I will argue that LeapFrog s strengths outweigh its risks, and that the stock offers an asymmetric risk/return opportunity for investors. About ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Reflection About Happiness When I was around nine years old I lived in California. It was nothing fancy; we lived in a standard house and I attended the elementary school I was zoned to. I was in the choir, too. The choir was, if my memory does not fail me, a combination of fourth, fifth, and sixth graders. That year the teacher had decided to use the song Happinessfrom the Broadway musical You re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. While it was not a very good rendition of the piece, it stayed with me throughout the years. For a long time I believed that happiness could be found in objects, in buying plastic things that I would throw away a year later. But the song s catchy and meaningful lyrics stayed in the back of my mind, providing me with a gentle reminder that my happiness did not necessarily have to come from owning things. Despite popular belief, happiness is not something that is bought. Happiness is not palpable. Up until a year ago, I believed that in order to be truly happy a person had to have massive amounts of money and materialistic products that did nothing to make them happy. Though that may be the case for some, I found that happiness is not often found in the amount of clothes a person has, or the price tag of their home or car. Happiness is not measured in dollars, or how many properties a person owns, or even how much their house is worth. Happiness, to me, is a feeling that is found in people, memories and moments. After World War II, with the rise of the United States and the USSR as the world s foremost superpowers, Europe split between East and West. NATO allied Western Europe and the United States against the rise of communism. The Warsaw Pact allied Eastern Europemilitarily. This effectively split Europeinto two competing camps that ensured relative peace for the following decades. In 1989, however, that changed entirely. With the borders and limits between East and West erased, Europe had to embrace a new identity. They had to create a new definition for what it meant to be European . The West had previously developed models and institutions that united multiple states, and communismunited the East. When the two intermingled politically, economically and socially, there were going to be growing pains. The East had to integrate into Western institutions because of the fall of communism. Easterners tended to move west to find work and a new, higher standard of living. This placed a significant burden on the West as a whole. Spurred by the mass migration of people from the East to the West, the West responded by hindering Eastern states ability to integrate fully with European institutions. The revolutions of 1989 led to a movement of people westward, with repercussions resulting in the West. The troubling reality is that clerics and mosques around the country allow their houses of worship to be used as training grounds for radicalization. The common thread among these organizations is their ideology of Political Islam which aspires to implement sharia governance and to establish a global Islamic caliphate (Clarion Project, 2017). In Death of a Salesman, Willy has many conflicting feelings with his jobless son Biff. Throughout the story, Willy believes that success will come to him if he works the hardest he can and by being famous in the spectrum of business and jobs. Biff on the other hand realizes that this is not the way success is achieved and is more angered by his father s delusions towards this idea. In Death of a Salesman, Arthur Miller uses an illusional tone, repetition, and idiomatic phrases to exemplify the idea that having excessive pride in a certain belief is going to ultimately lead to a person s demise. Arthur Miller uses an illusive tone throughout the story when Willy is discussing the success he had in his past. Although this tone makes it seem like Willy is being treated unjustly because of his previous successes that is not necessarily true. The quote, ... in 1928 I had a big year. The statement Willy makes is actually false. In reality he was never this successful and in return shows that he is not that much worth to the firm. This creates an illusive tone because it shows a deceptive memory that was untrue and makes it seem like Willy is being unfairly treated, but in reality is just showing that Willy has too much pride in himself to the point that he remembers things that are untrue, thus alluding back to the purpose that having too much pride in a belief is going to ultimately lead to their demise. Obviously, anybody you meet is going to be confident about how self aware they may be about themselves, but, only when you sit down and confront your personality you can discover who you really are. In terms of my self awareness, I am clearly aware of who I am, yet I can be unaware of my tendencies. As a person, I can often loose track of the things I repeatedly say and do. • 40. Packing The Endocnabinoid System The overall goal of my research is to better understand the roles that fatty acid binding proteins (FABPs), specifically epidermal FABP (FAPB5) and brain FABP (FABP7), play within regulating the endocannabinoid system and to understand the role of FABP in addiction. The endocannabinoid system is linked with the rewarding effects of abused drugs. Central to the endocannabinoid system is the cannabinoid type 1 receptor (CB1R), which is expressed ubiquitously throughout the brain. Within the brain reward circuit, activation of CB1Rs regulates the strength and plasticity of glutamate and GABA synapses. Specifically, dopaminergic projections from the ventral tegmental area (VTA) to the nucleus accumbens (NAc) plays a critical role in reward... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The results of the study were unlike FAAH inhibition. Inhibition of FABP5 and 7 decreased both the preference and consumption of ethanol in mice. Furthermore, the inhibition of FABP5 and 7 increase the corticosterone response. These results suggest that the inhibition of FABP5 and 7 may be hindering AEA ability to interact with CB1Rs, despite the elevated levels of the neurotransmitter. Following this initial study, our laboratory examined consumption behavior in mice that have a genetic knockout of the FABP5 gene. Similarly, both male and females underwent a limited access two bottle choice paradigm. The genetically knocked out (KO) animals were compared to wildtype. As originally hypothesized, the genetically modified animals consumed significantly more ethanol compared to wildtype animals. Conversely, following 30 minutes restrain stress, the FABP5 KO animals had a reduced corticosterone response compare to the wildtype animals. Born in a small town in Quebec, Mulroney was a bilingual Anglophone who harbored a tremendous political ambition (22). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First of all, the introduction of Goods and Services Tax by Mulroney built the foundation for eliminating federal deficit, which occurs when the government spends more money than it makes (Parker 22). Deficit increased the selling off of the capital assets in Canada to finance the purchases of slowly diminishing goods and services, which undermined future production and raised unemployment rates and inflation (Swatsky 309). Not only did the introduction of GST overcame deficit by a significant amount, it also proved to be an important source of generating revenues, improving the competitive position of Canada s economy in the world and acting as an efficient way for managing the country (Good and Bad sides of GST). This could be justified though the fact that when Mulroney introduced the GST, the revenues grew by one third, and GDP by 1.2%. Although it was not enough to stop deficit at first, it did slow it down and eventually hauled it (Coyne). But at the same time, his attempt to stop deficit limited his ability to deliver the promises he made in terms of services and infrastructures.(Info base Learning). Secondly, the signing off the Free Trade Agreement with United States and North American Free Trade Agreement with the addition of Mexico came as a great economic contribution to Canadian history as it marked the creation of the largest free trade region in the world. With the elimination of tariff and non tariff barriers, NAFTA opened gates for Canada towards economic prosperity and growth. On the contrary, it was rather ordinary, with a light dusting of snow on the pavement. After a round of holiday excursions, an uneventful evening with just the family(such as it was) was quite welcome, though others might have called it depressing. We were all gathered around the fire, on the last night of the old year. Julie, the veritable pride and joy of the family, was there, and so were my father and mother, little Ross, and a small army of aunts, uncles, and cousins. And then of course, there was Uncle Van. I felt very still and very empty, the way the eye of a tornado must feel, moving dully along the middle of the surrounding hullabaloo . It must be noted that The Bell Jar takes place in the 1950s, a period where the feminine, domestic, dutiful, good wife is the archetype that women are expected to follow. Needless to say, Esther is rather interested in pursuing her ambition as a writer. However, we can see that she is still wavering should she follow the constrictive women s roles of the 50s, or pursue her literary passion? This brings us to the fig tree. Additionally, there had been an immense amount of unregulated speculation resulting in huge debt as the levels of stock prices exceeded real economic growth, resulting in a continued lack of confidence and a fragile banking system.
