Discuss the Future of Human Geography with Reference to...
Discuss the future of human geography with reference to the approaches that have emerged since the
1950s.
Geography found its roots during periods of exploration when man s knowledge of the world was still
subject to the imagination. For many decades, Europe and the British Empire in particular formed
much of what cartography is today, and environmental determinism was widely used to serve
imperialist needs. Many ideas and theories were highly influenced and composed by upper class
academics and soon critiques were formed. During the mid 1930s, environmental determinism lost
much of its support and regional geography fell into to favour. Soon however, regional geography was
also criticised due to its limiting scope and constricting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pattinson hoped that through a widened willingness to conceive of and discuss the field in terms of
these traditions, geography will be better able to secure the inner unity and outer intelligibility (W.
Pattinson, 1964). This approach to geography aimed to quell the discourse that was prevalent within
geography and tried to pave a clearer way for geographies future. On the other hand, thinking in such
a law based manner, restricts dynamic thinking, which is where human geography draws its strengths.
I felt that Pattinson still asked more how than why but he certainly helped promote the growth of
geography.
Subsequently, The Big Questions was an article written to try and stimulate thoughts of for the future
as well as trying to gain the attention of the media and the public eye. Susan L. Cutter, Reginald
Golledge and William L. Graff wanted to create a dialogue for the future whilst tackling questions that
already plagued the discipline of geography. As for the future of geography, this article ask some
thought provoking questions such as when does geography start and finish? (S.L. Cutter, R.Golledge,
W.L.Graff, 2002) and what are likely to be the major problems of doing the geography of other
planets? (S.L. Cutter, R.Golledge, W.L.Graff, 2002) If we are to answer or even begin to answer these
questions, we must draw upon the past and in particular what has transgressed over the 60 years.
Over these years of the evolution of geography naturally

The Common Romantic Relationship Relationships
Most of the adults in this world are involved in a romantic relationship or will be eventually. The most
common romantic relationship includes the sexual dating relationship, the domestic partnership, and
the marriage. The adults or partners involved in these relationships inevitably reach a point of conflict
and how they react to the conflict can show whether the partners are a securely, avoidant, or anxious
attached person. The securely attached adults usually have a positive view when dealing with
relationship issues. Whereas, an avoidant attached adults are more hesitant and distance themselves
from their partner. Adults who tend to be more emotional, jealous, and possessive and demand
closeness have an anxious attachment. People should strive for the secure attachment style for the best
satisfaction level, commitment level, and ability to adapt to change in their romantic relationship, that
is what most of the adults have and most want their partner to be the same. Many theorist noticed that
there tended to be a pattern with the attachment styles that people have as adults to what attachment
style they had as children. John Bowlby designed the Attachment Theory to explain the bond between
a child and people serving in the caregiver role (Feldman, 2011). In 1987, Cindy Hazan and Philip
Shaver applied Bowlby s views on attachment to include the bonds between adults and their romantic
partners (Nudson martin, 2012). Hazan and Shaver viewed attachment in adult romantic

Native American Melting Pot
In America, there is a term we use to define the U.S. population, which is, The Melting pot. The
integration of lifestyles, cultures, and beliefs in this metaphorical melting pot, has been simmering
since the early 1500 s. Spanish settlers migrated to new worlds determined to claim land promised to
them by the Crown of Spain. Although, consequently, the natives had not realized that their way of life
and all that it entails, would become among the first ingredients in the pot of U.S. history. Despite
integration beginning with the emigrant settlers, they considered indigenous natives to be savage,
second class citizens on their own soil. In comparison to the superior standards of Spanish customs,
protecting these very ideologies of superiority against the Native Americans happened peacefully, or
by forcefully. The natives were simply out matched in arms, against Anglo Americans, which is why
the legacy of Hispanidad remains disparaged and vague. Therefore, whitewashed accounts of U.S.
history must be revised to include Latino contributions, factors, and influences on the development of
the United States of America, and not just ethnically. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One such example is the city of San Antonio, named for Saint Anthony de Padua. Ironically, he is
considered the patron saint of lost things which is exactly what befell the natives of this land.
Devastatingly, the loss of land, people, and dignity suffered by the Natives Americans could now pray
to this Saint brought before them by the foreign settlers. However, an economic revolution 1 emerged
as the European plants and animals successfully acclimated to their new home. Furthermore, some key
factors also helped in shaping the history of Mexican

Spider Man As A Hero
According to Joel D. Chaston, an English professor at Missouri State University, Spider Man is one of
the Marvel Comics most popular superhero, which was created by writer editor Stan Lee. Chaston
claims that Stan Lee is the best known costumed superhero of the Marvel Comics universe and the star
of several comic books and television series. Andy Hunsaker, a comics editor who has work with
Yahoo! Movies, Fancast, Xfinity Television and UGO, among others, covering movies and television
says that Spider Man was first appeared in the Amazing Fantasy number 15 back in 1962. The
character has gained popularity among American society, and has remained popular until today. The
history of Spider Man first started off with an idea of a writer named Stan Lee; then there is a present
day version of the hero; Peter Parker, and how he fights with his dark side, Venom. First and
Foremost, the hero Spider Man started with a creative ideas that Stan Lee developed in 1962. Nolan
Feeney, a journalist, and a staff editor at Entertainment Weekly states that one day, Lee s publisher told
him that he must come up with a new superhero idea. That day, Lee went home and started thinking
about what would a new hero be like. He saw a fly was climbing on the wall, so he came up with an
idea that a new hero should be able to climb walls. He started to randomly call out the new hero s
name, Fly Man, Insect Man, and Mosquito Man;

Sonnet 130 Analysis Essay
The explication of Sonnet 130 When you think of a sonnet from Shakespeare s time, you think of a
lovey, mushy poem about how the love the writer has for one. Sonnet 130, written by William
Shakespeare, totally goes against the typical sonnets of the time. Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 was
written in the early 1600s. Though it was written in this time, it was not like the rest of the sonnets.
Most of the sonnets at this time were modeled after Petrarch s famous sonnet sequence. He idolized
and idealized his mistress, named Laura. In his sonnets, he praises her beauty, her worth, and her
perfection using metaphors based on natural beauties. While these metaphors had already become a
cliché, they were still the accepted technique for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is also the possibility that she is of a darker race. In line four, he compares her hair to black
wires, which is not as flattering. Black is also not a color found in nature, but the absence of light.
Which also signifies sadness, darkness, and evil. In the past, men set a high value on women s hair; it
was a sign of femininity and beauty. Moving to the second quatrain which states, I have seen roses
demasked, red and white, / But no such roses see I in her cheeks;/ And in some perfumes is there more
delight/ Than in the breath from my mistress reeks. First, the reader starts with an explicit I , which
means he is only talking for himself and his mistress. In lines five and six, the speaker does not see the
red and white roses in her cheeks. Both colors were already used, which means that neither the noble
white or passionate red, are found in her. Roses are also a sign of love and passion. The smell of the
mistress is described in lines seven and eight. The idea that reek and stink are the same thing did not
develop until a century later. The mistress breath was not as pleasant as some perfumes. Perfume was
an expensive and worthy object, but can be a pleasant smell in nature too. The last quatrain states, I
love to hear her speak, yet well I know/ that music hath a far more pleasing sound;/ I grant I never saw
a goddess go;/ My mistress when she walks treads on the

Plato s Parmenides
Introduction to Plato s Parmenides: Plato generates and develops the character of Parmenides as an
intelligent adversary to Socrates in his argument for the Theory of Forms. This theory incorporates the
concept of forms and how it ultimately endures a path of ongoing regress. The focus of this paper will
revolve around the different aspects of the Theory of Forms, the refutation, known as the Third Man
Argument, and why the Theory of Forms can be defended.
An Introspection into the Theory of Forms and the Third Man Argument: The Theory of Forms
basically states that all objects in the world possess a form. An illustration of a form would be oneness
. Per Plato, it is possible for someone to demonstrate that all things are one by partaking of oneness,
and that these same things are also many by partaking of multitude (644). Although each form is
unique and distinct from one another, objects can partake in numerous forms. For example, qualities ...

An adversary of the Theory of Forms may claim that forms are not unchangeable due to the fact that
they partake in other forms, and that may constitute as changing or alteration. This is inaccurate
because each form is separate from one another. Plato furthers this statement by arguing that certain
forms themselves are separate and the things that partake of them are separate as well (645). So, if
forms are considered separate, then they are never able to become something else; thus, they are not
changing or capable of alteration. The only things that have the capability to change are things that
have incorporated mixed natures, such as beautiful things (Lecture, March 6, 2017). In this instance,
beautiful things are not a form because they share in the concept of beauty (Lecture, March 6, 2017).
Since, forms do not have mixed natures, they are incapable of

Can a lack of understanding in an individual lead them to total misbelief? Modernity has completely
blinded the English of the dangers in which inhabit their own abandoned traditions and superstitions
that once protected them. By analyzing the various reasons for particular individual s reason for
denying any phenomenon beyond what the human brain can comprehend, this may reveal insecurities,
lack of understanding, and lack of tradition.
Identifying a reasonable cause for believing that the traditions and superstitions that once were

Sproles and Kendall(1986) view this construct as basic consumer personality , analogous to the
concept of personality in psychology (p.268).Research on this construct can be categorized into three
main approaches: the consumer typology approach (Darden and Ashton, 1974; Moschis 1976); the
psychographics/lifestyle approach (lastovicka, 1982;Wells, 1975); and the consumer characteristics
approach(Sproles, 1985;Sproles and Kendall, 1986; Sproles and Sporles, 1990). The unifying theme
among these three approaches is the tenet that all consumers engage in shopping with certain
fundamental decision making modes or styles including rational shopping, consciousness regarding
brand, price and quality among others. Parenthetically, the focus on this topic seems to be an
American preoccupation since no studies could be located from researchers in other countries.
Objective of the project: As the world becomes commercially more integrated the customers around
the world have unprecedented amount of choices this makes the buying behavior more and more
complex. The abundance of choices in the retail environment makes the completion between the
sellers very intense. If that was not enough the ever new means of advertisement and readily available
information on various goods make the buying decision even more complex. The purpose of this

Machismo In Gabriel Garcia Marquez s Chronicle Of A Death...
Machismo is defined as being a strong sense of masculine pride, or an exaggerated masculinity. The
characters in the novella, Chronicle of a Death Foretold, are all effected by machismo in one way or
another. To someone who hasn t learned much about the topic, it seems beneficial to the men, since
they continue to be higher on the social pyramid. But, the men in the novel don t necessarily benefit
from machismo, along with honor and revenge culture, and the woman certainly do not benefit from
any of this. This all ties into the historical context of the novel, which takes place during La Violencia,
an event which lasted a decade and featured heightened tensions between citizens and politicians, and
political uprisings. This all brought fear to the citizens of Colombia and didn t make anything forced
onto the men and women any better. In the fiction novella Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel
Garcia Marquez, the author uses and manipulates the men in the novel to give the reader a better
understanding of Colombia/the Colombian culture, machismo, and the theme of honor. The plot of
Chronicle involves the death of Santiago Nasar, a man who is accused of claiming Angela Vicario s
virginity before she is ever married. When her husband, Bayardo San Roman, finds out that she isn t a
virgin, he returns her to her family and her twin brothers, Pedro and Pablo Vicario, take matters into

The Nazi Rise to Power Was Essentially Linked to the Great...
The Nazi rise to power was essentially linked to the Great Depression
(Holtfriech).
To what extent do you agree with this statement?
After all the hard work put in by the Nazis over several years in order to access rise to power,
President Hindenburg finally appointed Hitler as Chancellor of Germany on 30th January 1933. Many
historians have argued about how this all came about, however one in particular, Holtfriech, believes
their rise to power was all due to the Great Depression, which was a world wide phenomenon. This
particular aspect however makes it sound all too simple as there also many other factors which play a
crucial role in the Nazis success. Without Hitler s oratorical ability, the role of propaganda and the
support of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be seen as a factor which contributed to the Nazis success as he had outstanding speaking
skills which had an immense effect on people. An example of this is from a source form E.A Buller,
Darkness over Germany, 1943. Buller was anti Nazi German teacher who left Germany and one would
expect him to badmouth Hitler, however it was rather different. He mentioned that the workmen or
lower middle class types repeatedly shouted he speaks for me, he speaks for me. He also stated that
the manner in which he was speaking had many people lost in the world around them, probably
unaware of what he was saying. Another man also said Ach, Gott (Oh, God), he knows how I feel.
Lastly, he also said that one man in particular struck him as he leant forward with his head in his
hands, and with a sort of convulsive sob said, Gott sei Dank (God be thanked), he understands. The
reason why Hitler s oratorical ability contributed to the Nazis success was because he promised easy
solutions to difficult problems which the society needed. He talked as if he really listened to people,
which was key to gain votes. The manner in which he spoke felt as he was talking directly to the
person it applied to, not to the country as a whole. All these key aspects of his oratorical ability show
us he had a huge impact on people which led to his success along with the Nazis. Overall, I think this
was a fairly important factor which played a role to

Jonathan Vs Fletch Research Paper
Leaders don t create followers, they create more leaders (Leadership vs. Management: What s the
Difference?). Jonathan was a prime example of this quality. He never forced his fellow seagulls to
learn; Jonathan let them come to him. He did this so that the other gulls would be willing to accept his
teachings on their own. Fletch was the first to come to Jonathan Livingston, and because of Jon s
teachings, was able to take over the new flock that Jon started. Traits such as these are what make you
a good leader. I believe that there are many major qualities that can make a leader great. These two
that I will explain are the same traits that reside within Jonathan.
A leader must be honest. Without honesty, there is no trust. Without trust, no one will believe your

example. If a leader shows that they are committed to their work, then their followers will do the
same. CNN.com says that a good leader must, Live, beathe, eat and sleep your mission (23 Traits of

Socioeconomic Status And Quality Of Education
In an ideal world, socioeconomic status would not affect the quality of education one would receive.
Everyone would have the same opportunities to do well in life and rise up the social ladder. Durkheim
(1893) asserted that with universally great public education, economic opportunities would be
relatively equal. Even with equal education levels, there would still exist some inequality in the form
of legitimate inequality (Durkheim 1893), but the excellent public education would level the playing
field, so to speak. However, our world is not an ideal world. We live in a society where money talks
and how rich a person is determines the caliber of their educational background. Research has shown
that a child from a high income family will have a better life chance and that a child from a low
income family has less of a chance to move up the ranks. In my paper, I will argue that there is a
correlation between socioeconomic status and quality of education in that the higher socioeconomic
status a person has, the better education opportunities they will be able to obtain.
Statistically data from Piedmont, CA and East Oakland, CA demonstrates the idea that educational
quality and opportunities is closely related to socioeconomic status. Piedmont, CA is a wealthy city
surrounded by Oakland, a not so well off area. To clarify, the median household income of Piedmont
is $207,222 while East Oakland s median household income is $56,944 (US Census 2013). There is an

How Does Iago Say That Desdemona Is Evil In Othello
Shakespeare s play Othello, focuses on the real tragedies of the play which is the character Othello s
willingness to believe Iago s lies but also how Iago plays on Othello s few insecurities. Othello is
clearly not to blame for most of the tragedy as the audience sees how crafty Iago is with other
characters. He can manipulate Roderigo and Cassio so easily. It takes Iago an entire act and part of
another to convince Othello that Desdemona is unfaithful. Othello does not fall easily, but he does fall.
Othello is a good man. He sees the good in others. Iago is aware of that fact. This brings up more
important questions such as: are good people more vulnerable because they are less suspicious than
evil ones? Do we tend to judge others as we are ourselves? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

To make his plans work, Iago used psychological manipulation on his victims and used their
emotional weaknesses to his advantage. Iago s first victim was Roderigo. He manipulated Roderigo by
feasting on the emotions and desires he had for Desdemona. Iago made Roderigo believe that he could
help him get closer to Desdemona, and Roderigo, being very gullible, believed this. Iago convinced
Roderigo to start a fight with Cassio and to even sell his properties so Iago would have enough money
to travel to Cyprus. This is seen in I could never better stead thee than now. Put money in thy purse. ,
Iago said this many times to make Rodrigo believe it. This is proof that Iago s manipulation worked
when Roderigo said I ll sell all my land. Their fake friendship is ended when Iago kills Roderigo to

The Concept Of Tqm ( Total Quality Management ) Was...
The concept of TQM (Total Quality Management) was developed by W. Edwards Deming along with
Joseph Juran and Armand Feigerbaum in the 1950s when their mission was to revive the Japanese
manufacturing sector, which was known for its poor quality products at the time. Deming and his
colleagues demonstrated through a TQM approach that adopting a new quality focused way of doing
business indeed bring successes in improving products, services, and profits. The idea of TQM did not
become popular in America until 1980s, but today it is widely applied in almost all sectors, including
education.
What is TQM? Total quality management, TQM, is a long term management approach that seeks to
continuously improve and ensure the quality of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How can TQM be implemented? The first step in TQM implementation is to have an honest look at
the organization s current reality and assess how healthy the organization is. If the organization faces
with preconditions such as significant financial problems, incompetent managerial skills, and low
employee morale, then it might not be a good idea to implement TQM until those issues are first
addressed, and the need for change is openly accepted. Next is to assess readiness: creating goals and
objectives, assigning responsibilities, and securing resources followed by training and creating
transition management structure.
For TQM to be successful, all workers in the organization have to be clear and focus on its vision and
intentionally align themselves with the TQM strategies to produce quality products and services that
satisfy their client s needs and requirements. Some of the benefits gained from successful TQM
implementation include fewer customer complaints, cost reduction in the long term, elimination of
waste and mistakes, and boost in employee morale by empowering them by encouraging their
participation in decision making and communication.
Summary of TQM s primary purpose and use
The primary purpose of TQM is customer satisfaction on an ongoing basis through quality products
and services. According to business dictionary, quality is defined

completely legal for any citizen to seek medical attention at liberty, but the task of explaining the need
of acquiring medical services when needed has been proven to be arduous. Marketing healthcare

However, as realized by Aravind s manager, the uptake of services in the rural area declined due to
lack of awareness. The decline was predominant, since awareness is a crucial vehicle of marketing.
The rural population was supposed to be informed about the necessity of eye care, and educated on
why surgery should be considered as the best possible solution in some circumstances. The lack of
awareness became a major issue when the doctors realized that cataract was the major problem and
the only solution was surgery. It was indeed very challenging since there is no alternative other than
providing the quality of care that best suits the patient. Inconsistency Even though the case study
doesn t specify on cases of inconsistency during service delivery, some events make the hospital s
personnel prone to inconsistency. The healthcare journal defines inconsistency as the inability to offer
the replica of services to the patient due to nature of treatment. Firstly, there is an increased number of
doctors in the hospital. The subordinate staff includes village girls aged between 17 19 years old.
These young women are expected to help professionals on their assignments. It is highly likely that
the existences of circumstances when targets are not met is due to the clash between the high number
of experts. Secondly, it is evident from the case that

The Goal Of A Lifetime Goal
Lifetime Goals
Establishing lifetime goals is inherently a challenging exercise, yet an essential one for any person to
strive for prosperity in society. Goals are the very essence of what makes humans unique, we have the
ability to visualize a yet unseen world, we have to ability to hope. Even though logic may tell us
something is impossible, hope is the gift that gives us that spark in our mind, the spark that says Even
though there is a small chance, there is a chance nonetheless. Hopes and dreams are what drives us to
be better, to achieve more than anyone else, it is hope that encourages us to evolve. This being said,
my lifetime goal is very simple, I just wish to be happy. The goal of happiness seems to be very short
and sweet, however, it is deceptively elusive in our changing times. Being successful and making
money are commonly confused with happiness when in fact, they are merely avenues that may or may
not lead you towards your goal, but not a substitute for it; id est, they are a means to an end, not the
end itself.
The things that I have done, and plan to do are in accordance with what I believe will help me achieve
my end goal, happiness. To start, I have always been a very good student, but most people would say
that on a college essay, so the question is, What evidence do I have to substantiate such a claim? I
would like to submit this essay as my first form of evidence. I hope, by my insights illustrated in this
paper, that my intellect is given a

Machiavelli Essay
quot; The term Machiavellian refers to someone who is unscrupulous, cunning, cynical, and

dismayed Niccolo Machiavelli, the man from whom the term is derived. In reality he has been
attributed as being one of the brightest lights of the Italian Renaissance through his works as not only
a writer, but also as an influential philosopher of history and political thought. His most famous work
The Prince has been misunderstood due to the motives discussed and the blatantly honest language
used. Many of his critics have condemned him for his pessimistic outlook of man as a whole and in
doing so try to negate the bulk of his work. Yet even after over 470 ... Show more content on

In fact, Machiavelli used various early diplomatic missions as the basis for a short guideline he sent to
the Florentine diplomat of Spain named Raffaelo Girolami. In this letter Machiavelli discussed not
only what he had done but also how he could have improved (Gilbert 1961, 209). This letter was
meant not only as advice for a particular situation but also as a learning aid to apply to all situations.
We see from this and other letters like it that Machiavelli not only learned the theory behind politics
but also continually refined his skill with each new challenge.
Machiavelli demonstrated a great knowledge and insight regarding politics through his writings but
more importantly he displayed a man who went through great effort to pay attention to details.
Nowhere else is this fact more evident than in the advice and instructions that he imparted to less
experienced government officials. His own advice states to ...write to those with whom you do
business so clearly that when they have a letter of yours they may think they are there in such detail it
describes the thing to them (Gilbert 1961, 123). Not only does this apply to his beliefs in
documentation, but also encourages them to pay close attention to details in order to supplement those
writings. This type of statement was far from uncommon, in a large quantity of his letters to less
experienced diplomats he advised them to go to the extreme of writing too much rather that too little

world in the 70 s, have been given awards for their creativity and meaning in their music. With five

in their time. Many of their songs on their number one albums got into the Rolling Stones Top 500
Songs of All Time list (Graff). This song Desperado means a lot to me because it played on the album
that I used to sing along in the car with my mom and sister when I was a small child. It acts as part of
a symbol in the childhood that I so dearly cherish, and long to return to. The song is played on the
album Their Greatest Hits and has a more country beat to it, which I enjoyed more, than their more
rock and roll take on their music. When I sing along to this song, or any song on this album, I am

The children can become rebellious, if the parents are just strict but do not allow much or high
expectations or do not guide their children, the children may not learn right from wrong themselves.
The child may simply just behave when parents are around. Some strict parents are not open to ideas
and forget to communicate with their children. Which give their children communication problems.
The child will feel less confident and more insecure. The feelings of the child won t be expressed
because he may believe his feelings will be criticized or punished. The children will need someone to
confide in and the parent may not be available for this role. Studies of Spanish and Brazilian
adolescents have reported that teens from authoritarian homes had lower self

from authoritative or permissive families
(Martinez and Garcia 2007; Martinez and Garcia 2008). Secrets and lies manifest within the
relationship between the child and parent. When children are under the pressure of strict rules, they
learn how to avoid punishment through lies and deceit. This leads to lying about places they are going
and friends they hang out with and also activities they do. Sometimes the child in a strict household
does not learn to make responsible situations because the decision was always made for them. This
can lead to dangerous outcomes and wrongful

There are endless works of art that surround each and every one of us that have always been enclosed
by mystery. Each person can interpret a piece in their own way, although, there is always some kind of
underlying meaning behind it. One of the greatest double portraits of the Netherlandish Renaissance,
is the Arnolfini Portrait, painted in 1494 by one of the most noteworthy northern European writers of
the Renaissance, Jan Van Eyck. The painting depicts a formal picture of a wealthy couple, Giovanna

creates an emotional connection with the presence of God surrounding the couple (Jones). The mirror
also represents some kind some kind of witnessing taking place. This is reinforced by the signature of
Jan Van Eyck above the mirror that says Jan Van Eyck fuit hic which translates to Jan Van Eyck was

have a greater visual reality of the room that is depicted, but it can be also seen as if the viewer is
standing in the back of the room, as if they are a part of the painting itself, witnessing this scene. This
has a large significance of adding the viewer into the space and simply creates some sort of connection
that the audience can create as if they are involved within the event that is taking place (Hicks). The

Victor Frankenstein in the search for strength. Everyone in the story has some kind of moxie that they

in the story when Victor Frankenstein needs to find and regain himself he looks to nature to find it all.
Nature holds a great part of the power that happens in the story, but the creature is also filled with the
crave for prestige as well as Victor. Authority controls the actions of all the characters in the play
whether or not they realize it. In the story whenever Victor feels like he needs to find himself and gain

using the nature to his advantage, he uses it to find himself while in the wild, but he also uses it to
create the creature. His drive for success became so great that he went to make a creature that would
make him very influential in the scientific world once he proved that he could create life with his bare

disgusted with his creation and all his work became an eminent failure. He then proceeded to abandon

with the death penalty a long time ago. Many people have different views on this issue. Although,
there is a consensus that heinous murders need to be severely punished, there is no consensus on the
choice of that punished. The debate over the proper punishment lies between the death penalty and life

It is definitely true that money should not be an issue when it comes to fighting crime and saving
people s lives. However, it is also true that it is necessary to logically and rationally choose the best
way to spend the available money for crime fighting. In the case of the death penalty, so much extra
money is spent in legal procedures and appeals that could be spent toward other more deterrent and
efficient ways to fighting crime, such as increased police forces, more funding for the war on guns,
and other crime fighting initiatives. In the economic sense, the death penalty is clearly not the smartest
and most efficient way to fight crime. One of the most important issues in the debate is the deterrent
effect of the death penalty. Deterrent effect, meaning that by having the death penalty as an available
form of punishment it will deter future murders from committing their crimes. So supposedly, by
instilling this fear of death a murderer will be forced to think twice before they kill. This is not the
case, as many studies have shown that the death penalty does not have a deterrent effect. For instance,
the homicide rates in states that do have the death penalty and those that don t are generally the same.
Furthermore, when states have established the death penalty they have not seen their homicide rates
fall (Barkan p. 498). A global statistic that disproves the deterrent effect of the death penalty is that the

The Research Process on a Project
The Research Process: The research process went well, I felt like it was easier than most research
projects. I found the project more preferable to a traditional research paper. I feel like it is a better
alternative because it gave us time to really research and give good connections. I ended up learning
more from the primary connections because I put more into my research. I felt like the secondary
connections was not as informative because I was researching connections that someone else had
already made but with the primary I had more possibilities to really learn. I felt like there were less
restraints on what I could connect the author to. With this project I learned that it is not a simple as

The story of Farewell, my lovely talks about a private detective call Philipp Marlowe . This story takes
place in Bay City, in a little town near from Los Angeles. Marlowe is the most important detective in
the District Attorney s office, which lately had been not too much work. A man call Moose Malloy

years. Marlowe accepted to help Malloy, but as the story goes through, several characters appeared in

As in the Chandler reading The Simple Art Murder , states, A detective will take no man s money
dishonestly and no man s insolence without a due and dispassionate revenge . When the situation of
Lindsay Marriot happened, Marlowe acted always as an honest detective respecting his job s beliefs.
Even though he failed at the goal that he supposed to reach and later to lose the life of Marriot, he
continued looking for to solve his case. The fact that Marriot gave to Marlowe money at the beginning
of the event of the necklace, it made Marlowe respect the ideology of being honest as an exceptional
detective. Essentially, Marriot was the only character who gave money to Marlowe in the entire book.
Neither, Malloy, Mrs. Grayle or Mrs. Florian gave any money to Marlowe. Even though, Malloy was
the principal character who was looking for Velma, he never gave any amount of money, and Marlowe
didn t care and he kept helping him until the end of his life. Although Marlowe knew that Mrs. Grayle
was such a rich woman married to a powerful, ambitious and old man, he didn t ask her for any

The Effects Of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons On The...
What are the effects of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons on the organ systems of aquatic
invertebrates?
A study in Biology
Dusty Vincer, Advisor
by Shruti Gajbhiye
During the recent Deepwater Horizon oil spill, millions of gallons of oil were dispersed in the Gulf of
Mexico in the same area known as the Gulf of Mexico Hypoxic Zone. The hypoxic zone along the
Gulf Coast contains less than the normal amount of dissolved oxygen, at two parts per million. The
little to no oxygen is theorized to be caused by excess nutrients from the Mississippi River along with
the stratification of the Gulf waters. The excess nutrients create a growth of primary consumers and
when decomposing at the bottom, uses the oxygen. The layering of the water does not allow for the
water to mix the top and bottom layers, leaving a lack of oxygen at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico
Hypoxic Zone and an oxygen plenty top layer. The polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from the
petroleum, generally accepted to have mutagenic and carcinogenic effects, and are mainly from
anthropogenic sources and are considered environmental pollutants. The nonpolar organic molecular
are insoluble in the water, and are considered to be of utmost importance in terms of environmental
hazards. The combination of the burning of petroleum on the top of the Gulf of Mexico Hypoxic Zone
created a deadly effect, as evidenced by the several deaths of animals and an unbalanced food web as
secondary and tertiary consumers died

Essay On Plutarch s Ides Of March
This essay will examine the events of the Ides of March, recreated within Shakespeare s modern play
Julius Caesar. The Ides of March in this essay refers to the day of Caesar s death 15th March 44 BCE.
Shakespeare depicts this event in depth, and over the course of multiple scenes within Julius Caesar.
This essay will primarily focus on Plutarch s Lives of the Noble Greeks and Romans: The Life of
Julius Caesar as an ancient source, as it was the primary text which Shakespeare drew from, as well as
being prominent in the Elizabethan public consciousness at the time of performance Plutarch s Lives
had only been recently translated in 1579 by Sir Thomas North. (Honigmann 1959, p.25)

In Plutarch s Brutus, Plutarch states that although the conspirators were fond of Cicero they feared that
the caution... combined with his natural timidity... and his habit of calculating all the details of every
enterprise... would blunt the edge of their ardour at a crisis which demanded speed. (Plutarch Life of
Brutus, 12.2) The conspirators leave Cicero out because they believe that he will slow their time
sensitive plans down and thus they leave him out of their plans. However, in Shakespeare s recreation,
Cicero is first suggested by Cassius and vouched for by Caska, Cinna, and Metellus. It is Brutus who
disagrees, stating that ...he will never follow any thing that other men begin. (Shakespeare Julius
Caesar, 2.1.151 2). This change is a prominent one, especially as Shakespeare often follows Plutarch s
works diligently. Honigmann suggests that Shakespeare wanted to highlight the determination of
Brutus to be the sole, undisputed leader of the conspirators (Honigmann 1959, p.30). It also
establishes the conspirators as a younger group, as Cicero is the only one described with silver hairs
(Shakespeare Julius Caesar, 2.1.145). By excluding Cicero they also exclude a potentially valuable
member Cicero is said to be wise and of good opinion (Shakespeare Julius Caesar, 2.1.146) his skills
as an orator will help sway the people to their cause. Nevertheless, Brutus refuses, and the others

Dreamers Of Religion
It s a warm Sunday morning coast to coast, as little boys and girls rush to the church that sits patiently
waiting for them to arrive. Their parents follow behind, walking just fast enough to keep up, but not so
fast that they too look like children. The elderly seem to have already taken their seats, as they like to
arrive early in order to obtain their reserved spot only made so according to them. Whether the
congregation gathers in a barn or a cathedral, you will always find the same three types of
churchgoers: the hypocrite, the seeker, and the day dreamer. The hypocrite goes to church as if they
were going on stage at Broadway. They put on an elaborate act, declaring they are Christian, and seem
to have everyone fooled. They may show up every Sunday, but this is just so they can take the typical
Sunday selfie and upload ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

wanting the service to be over with. They pay attention to some parts but for the majority of the
service they are day dreaming and thinking about lunch rather than the message the preacher is trying
to relay to the congregation. The day dreamers of the church body seem to be what holds everything
together. They bring in the numbers especially on the holidays and create some liveliness in the church
that otherwise wouldn t exist. This group pays little attention to the politics of the church and couldn t
care more about who s on the vestry or not. Children are included into the day dreamer category
because even though they are seen as Christians and attend church they aren t necessarily there for
spiritual nourishment. They are there to attend Sunday school and walk into church during the
children s homily in order to entertain the adults and prove that the church does contain young people.
The day dreamer may be a churchgoer but they don t stay

Third Party Logistic Services
2.1.2 Description of third party logistic services providers
According to various studies, Berglund et al. (1999) explain that third party logistics has several
definitions that are an activities consisting of transportation and management, and warehousing on
behalf of the shipper are carried out. Wilding and Juriado (2004) define that a company who solely
operates for the provision of logistics related single or multiple services on a contractual basis, is
called Third Party Logistics Company. Especially, the true third party logistics companies provide a
solution to the problem in the supply chain by incorporating multiple logistics services that are
managed solely or together (Schary and Larsen, 1995). Coltman, Gattorna and Whiting (2010) suggest
that third party logistics companies must create a large range of services to meet their distinct needs. A
definition by Lieb et al. (1993) explain that 3PL providers can assist the whole processes of supply
chain or just only selected activities depending on a company s preference. It is also conclude the
definition of outsourced logistics services that the employ of external firms to provide logistics
services for the whole or selected logistics activities within the process that have traditionally been
performed within an organization is the outsourced logistics. The roles performed by the 3PL
providers can be making especially to customers requirements (The Client Company) derived from
market demands and conditions.

Slac Team Work Experience
My work experience at SLAC was definitely a unique one. Everything was on point from Diedre s
phone call about the interview to when I started the internship. I really appreciated Diedre for always
keeping us informed of the status of the internship. The HR team were always on top with their stuff:
the paper works, the background checks, setting up the interviews, and just simply making sure that
we had everything we needed once we started on our first day. It was a privileged to be a part of the
OCFOs team. Although I enjoyed taking the inventory of the content on OCFO s website and
SharePoint site, what I really enjoyed was talking with SMEs to determine the status of the content.

When I was talking to the main SME from the budget office, he was unsure about most of the contents
on their SharePoint site. He would often make assumptions on some of the contents without
consulting with the owner of the page or who was in charge of that particular page. For example,
Person 1 told me that all the documents before 2013 on the budget office could be archived; however,
when I talked to person 2 (this page was his specialist), he told me that he would like to still keep
documents from 2005 because he is still using it for historical references. This happened a couple of
times with the budget office. In my opinion, there is a lack of interaction and awareness of other
people s job within the budget office. As for the SCM team, I know that one of the SMEs was
frustrated because someone with permission was able moved their documents from one place to
another. He would preferred if that person did not have permission to their site so that it will not cause
any confusion later on. For some people, they believe that not everybody should have permissions to
certain sites; this will only cause discrepancy and confusion for the team. I think it is really beneficial
if there was meeting to reorganize permissions to certain sites as well as discussing the contents within
each

  • 2. Discuss the Future of Human Geography with Reference to... Discuss the future of human geography with reference to the approaches that have emerged since the 1950s. Geography found its roots during periods of exploration when man s knowledge of the world was still subject to the imagination. For many decades, Europe and the British Empire in particular formed much of what cartography is today, and environmental determinism was widely used to serve imperialist needs. Many ideas and theories were highly influenced and composed by upper class academics and soon critiques were formed. During the mid 1930s, environmental determinism lost much of its support and regional geography fell into to favour. Soon however, regional geography was also criticised due to its limiting scope and constricting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pattinson hoped that through a widened willingness to conceive of and discuss the field in terms of these traditions, geography will be better able to secure the inner unity and outer intelligibility (W. Pattinson, 1964). This approach to geography aimed to quell the discourse that was prevalent within geography and tried to pave a clearer way for geographies future. On the other hand, thinking in such a law based manner, restricts dynamic thinking, which is where human geography draws its strengths. I felt that Pattinson still asked more how than why but he certainly helped promote the growth of geography. Subsequently, The Big Questions was an article written to try and stimulate thoughts of for the future as well as trying to gain the attention of the media and the public eye. Susan L. Cutter, Reginald Golledge and William L. Graff wanted to create a dialogue for the future whilst tackling questions that already plagued the discipline of geography. As for the future of geography, this article ask some thought provoking questions such as when does geography start and finish? (S.L. Cutter, R.Golledge, W.L.Graff, 2002) If we are to answer or even begin to answer these questions, we must draw upon the past and in particular what has transgressed over the 60 years. • 3. The Common Romantic Relationship Relationships Most of the adults in this world are involved in a romantic relationship or will be eventually. The most common romantic relationship includes the sexual dating relationship, the domestic partnership, and the marriage. The adults or partners involved in these relationships inevitably reach a point of conflict and how they react to the conflict can show whether the partners are a securely, avoidant, or anxious attached person. The securely attached adults usually have a positive view when dealing with relationship issues. Whereas, an avoidant attached adults are more hesitant and distance themselves from their partner. Adults who tend to be more emotional, jealous, and possessive and demand closeness have an anxious attachment. People should strive for the secure attachment style for the best satisfaction level, commitment level, and ability to adapt to change in their romantic relationship, that is what most of the adults have and most want their partner to be the same. Many theorist noticed that there tended to be a pattern with the attachment styles that people have as adults to what attachment style they had as children. John Bowlby designed the Attachment Theory to explain the bond between a child and people serving in the caregiver role (Feldman, 2011). In 1987, Cindy Hazan and Philip Shaver applied Bowlby s views on attachment to include the bonds between adults and their romantic partners (Nudson martin, 2012). The integration of lifestyles, cultures, and beliefs in this metaphorical melting pot, has been simmering since the early 1500 s. Spanish settlers migrated to new worlds determined to claim land promised to them by the Crown of Spain. Although, consequently, the natives had not realized that their way of life and all that it entails, would become among the first ingredients in the pot of U.S. history. Despite integration beginning with the emigrant settlers, they considered indigenous natives to be savage, second class citizens on their own soil. In comparison to the superior standards of Spanish customs, protecting these very ideologies of superiority against the Native Americans happened peacefully, or by forcefully. The natives were simply out matched in arms, against Anglo Americans, which is why the legacy of Hispanidad remains disparaged and vague. Movies, Fancast, Xfinity Television and UGO, among others, covering movies and television says that Spider Man was first appeared in the Amazing Fantasy number 15 back in 1962. The character has gained popularity among American society, and has remained popular until today. The history of Spider Man first started off with an idea of a writer named Stan Lee; then there is a present day version of the hero; Peter Parker, and how he fights with his dark side, Venom. First and Foremost, the hero Spider Man started with a creative ideas that Stan Lee developed in 1962. Nolan Feeney, a journalist, and a staff editor at Entertainment Weekly states that one day, Lee s publisher told him that he must come up with a new superhero idea. That day, Lee went home and started thinking about what would a new hero be like. He saw a fly was climbing on the wall, so he came up with an idea that a new hero should be able to climb walls. • 7. Sonnet 130 Analysis Essay The explication of Sonnet 130 When you think of a sonnet from Shakespeare s time, you think of a lovey, mushy poem about how the love the writer has for one. Sonnet 130, written by William Shakespeare, totally goes against the typical sonnets of the time. Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 was written in the early 1600s. Though it was written in this time, it was not like the rest of the sonnets. Most of the sonnets at this time were modeled after Petrarch s famous sonnet sequence. He idolized and idealized his mistress, named Laura. In his sonnets, he praises her beauty, her worth, and her perfection using metaphors based on natural beauties. While these metaphors had already become a cliché, they were still the accepted technique for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is also the possibility that she is of a darker race. Moving to the second quatrain which states, I have seen roses demasked, red and white, / But no such roses see I in her cheeks;/ And in some perfumes is there more delight/ Than in the breath from my mistress reeks. First, the reader starts with an explicit I , which means he is only talking for himself and his mistress. In lines five and six, the speaker does not see the red and white roses in her cheeks. Both colors were already used, which means that neither the noble white or passionate red, are found in her. Roses are also a sign of love and passion. The smell of the mistress is described in lines seven and eight. The idea that reek and stink are the same thing did not develop until a century later. The mistress breath was not as pleasant as some perfumes. Perfume was an expensive and worthy object, but can be a pleasant smell in nature too. • 8. Plato s Parmenides Introduction to Plato s Parmenides: Plato generates and develops the character of Parmenides as an intelligent adversary to Socrates in his argument for the Theory of Forms. This theory incorporates the concept of forms and how it ultimately endures a path of ongoing regress. The focus of this paper will revolve around the different aspects of the Theory of Forms, the refutation, known as the Third Man Argument, and why the Theory of Forms can be defended. An Introspection into the Theory of Forms and the Third Man Argument: The Theory of Forms basically states that all objects in the world possess a form. An illustration of a form would be oneness . Per Plato, it is possible for someone to demonstrate that all things are one by partaking of oneness, and that these same things are also many by partaking of multitude (644). Although each form is unique and distinct from one another, objects can partake in numerous forms. For example, qualities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An adversary of the Theory of Forms may claim that forms are not unchangeable due to the fact that they partake in other forms, and that may constitute as changing or alteration. This is inaccurate because each form is separate from one another. Plato furthers this statement by arguing that certain forms themselves are separate and the things that partake of them are separate as well (645). So, if forms are considered separate, then they are never able to become something else; thus, they are not changing or capable of alteration. The only things that have the capability to change are things that have incorporated mixed natures, such as beautiful things (Lecture, March 6, 2017). In this instance, beautiful things are not a form because they share in the concept of beauty (Lecture, March 6, 2017). Since, forms do not have mixed natures, they are incapable of ... • 12. Machismo In Gabriel Garcia Marquez s Chronicle Of A Death... Machismo is defined as being a strong sense of masculine pride, or an exaggerated masculinity. The characters in the novella, Chronicle of a Death Foretold, are all effected by machismo in one way or another. To someone who hasn t learned much about the topic, it seems beneficial to the men, since they continue to be higher on the social pyramid. But, the men in the novel don t necessarily benefit from machismo, along with honor and revenge culture, and the woman certainly do not benefit from any of this. This all ties into the historical context of the novel, which takes place during La Violencia, an event which lasted a decade and featured heightened tensions between citizens and politicians, and political uprisings. This all brought fear to the citizens of Colombia and didn t make anything forced onto the men and women any better. In the fiction novella Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, the author uses and manipulates the men in the novel to give the reader a better understanding of Colombia/the Colombian culture, machismo, and the theme of honor. The plot of Chronicle involves the death of Santiago Nasar, a man who is accused of claiming Angela Vicario s virginity before she is ever married. To what extent do you agree with this statement? After all the hard work put in by the Nazis over several years in order to access rise to power, President Hindenburg finally appointed Hitler as Chancellor of Germany on 30th January 1933. Many historians have argued about how this all came about, however one in particular, Holtfriech, believes their rise to power was all due to the Great Depression, which was a world wide phenomenon. This can be seen as a factor which contributed to the Nazis success as he had outstanding speaking skills which had an immense effect on people. An example of this is from a source form E.A Buller, Darkness over Germany, 1943. Buller was anti Nazi German teacher who left Germany and one would expect him to badmouth Hitler, however it was rather different. He mentioned that the workmen or lower middle class types repeatedly shouted he speaks for me, he speaks for me. He also stated that the manner in which he was speaking had many people lost in the world around them, probably unaware of what he was saying. Another man also said Ach, Gott (Oh, God), he knows how I feel. Lastly, he also said that one man in particular struck him as he leant forward with his head in his hands, and with a sort of convulsive sob said, Gott sei Dank (God be thanked), he understands. The reason why Hitler s oratorical ability contributed to the Nazis success was because he promised easy solutions to difficult problems which the society needed. He talked as if he really listened to people, which was key to gain votes. The manner in which he spoke felt as he was talking directly to the person it applied to, not to the country as a whole. All these key aspects of his oratorical ability show us he had a huge impact on people which led to his success along with the Nazis. Everyone would have the same opportunities to do well in life and rise up the social ladder. Durkheim (1893) asserted that with universally great public education, economic opportunities would be relatively equal. Even with equal education levels, there would still exist some inequality in the form of legitimate inequality (Durkheim 1893), but the excellent public education would level the playing field, so to speak. However, our world is not an ideal world. We live in a society where money talks and how rich a person is determines the caliber of their educational background. Research has shown that a child from a high income family will have a better life chance and that a child from a low income family has less of a chance to move up the ranks. In my paper, I will argue that there is a correlation between socioeconomic status and quality of education in that the higher socioeconomic status a person has, the better education opportunities they will be able to obtain. In this letter Machiavelli discussed not only what he had done but also how he could have improved (Gilbert 1961, 209). This letter was meant not only as advice for a particular situation but also as a learning aid to apply to all situations. We see from this and other letters like it that Machiavelli not only learned the theory behind politics but also continually refined his skill with each new challenge. Machiavelli demonstrated a great knowledge and insight regarding politics through his writings but more importantly he displayed a man who went through great effort to pay attention to details. Nowhere else is this fact more evident than in the advice and instructions that he imparted to less experienced government officials. His own advice states to ...write to those with whom you do business so clearly that when they have a letter of yours they may think they are there in such detail it describes the thing to them (Gilbert 1961, 123). Not only does this apply to his beliefs in documentation, but also encourages them to pay close attention to details in order to supplement those writings. This type of statement was far from uncommon, in a large quantity of his letters to less experienced diplomats he advised them to go to the extreme of writing too much rather that too little (Gilbert ... The Eagles As A Backup Band For Linda Ronstadt Better Let Somebody Love you The Eagles started out as any other band would by strumming their guitars and beating the drums in their garage of their parents house. Later, they began their real career as a backup band for Linda Ronstadt. The Eagles began as an all American Rock band in Los Angeles in 1971 by band members Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner. The Eagles, being number one in the world in the 70 s, have been given awards for their creativity and meaning in their music. With five number one singles, six Grammy Awards, five American Music Awards, and six number one albums (Graff), the Eagles were one of the most successful bands of the 1970s. Their music changed history in their time. Many of their songs on their number one albums got into the Rolling Stones Top 500 Songs of All Time list (Graff). This song Desperado means a lot to me because it played on the album that I used to sing along in the car with my mom and sister when I was a small child. It acts as part of a symbol in the childhood that I so dearly cherish, and long to return to. The song is played on the album Their Greatest Hits and has a more country beat to it, which I enjoyed more, than their more rock and roll take on their music. When I sing along to this song, or any song on this album, I am taken back to the days where all the windows were down in my mom s white minivan, blowing my blonde wispy curls in my face, and the heat of the warm sunshine on my skin. However, it is also true that it is necessary to logically and rationally choose the best way to spend the available money for crime fighting. In the case of the death penalty, so much extra money is spent in legal procedures and appeals that could be spent toward other more deterrent and efficient ways to fighting crime, such as increased police forces, more funding for the war on guns, and other crime fighting initiatives. In the economic sense, the death penalty is clearly not the smartest and most efficient way to fight crime. One of the most important issues in the debate is the deterrent effect of the death penalty. Deterrent effect, meaning that by having the death penalty as an available form of punishment it will deter future murders from committing their crimes. A study in Biology Dusty Vincer, Advisor by Shruti Gajbhiye During the recent Deepwater Horizon oil spill, millions of gallons of oil were dispersed in the Gulf of Mexico in the same area known as the Gulf of Mexico Hypoxic Zone. The hypoxic zone along the Gulf Coast contains less than the normal amount of dissolved oxygen, at two parts per million. The little to no oxygen is theorized to be caused by excess nutrients from the Mississippi River along with the stratification of the Gulf waters. The excess nutrients create a growth of primary consumers and when decomposing at the bottom, uses the oxygen.
