How Autonomy Should Be Fully Operate Themselves With No...
With the push from google and Tesla to develop fully autonomous cars, the big question I think
we should ask is should we? Should we develop vehicles that can fully operate themselves with
no possibility of human intervention? Since Google in the early 2000s, there has been a push
from manufacturers to produce vehicles that will one day be The driver. These systems can see
obstacles in front, behind, and all around themselves. They can brake, accelerate, make turns,
and park all by themselves, but should they have this level of control? Should we have some
level of control over these systems? I think the driverless discussion like many should meet in
the middle just like the old Diamond Rio song. Autonomy should benefit the elderly, the
disabled, and needy to provide levels of transportation, they otherwise wouldn t have. Autonomy
can take over on a crowded commute home after a long day of work. It can relieve the driver
when they need it, but people should always know how to drive, and we should continue to
bolster the transportation of our nation. The first article we will cover is Brian Fung s article, The
big question about driverless cars that no one seems able to answer. Fung deals with the large issue
of liability with driverless cars. He focuses on how insurance companies will have to adjust as cars
become increasingly more autonomous. Fung interviews several companies including State Farm,
Liberty Mutual, and the District of Columbia Insurance Federation. He

The Drought Stricken State’S Climate Leaves Its’ Water
The drought stricken State s climate leaves its water supply to be volatile and unpredictable,
creating a hash reality for all demanders of the scarce resource. In the worst of times California s
climate is destructive to the wellbeing of not only Californian s quality of life, but the surrounding
ecosystems. With unseasonably higher temperatures presenting issues farther into the future, in
Adapting California s water managementto climate change , the authors Ellen Hanak and Jay Lund
provide an overview of the effects California s climate has during times of drought, and the
complications it presents for the State s water management. Water management in the state oversee

The Delta is the lifeblood of California s water supply system, but when sea levels rise more and
more of the levee system that blockades the salt and fresh water erodes, it leads to what is
known as seawater intrusion. More simply, the contamination of freshwater by its salty
counterpart. This process happens at varying rates, disrupting the water supply at a snail s pace
or more in abundance, leaving a rippling effect to be felt for months, or even years. Climates
effects on snowpack levels is far more measurable, where warming temperatures lead to higher
levels of winter runoff. Thus depleting the snowpack earlier in the year, and leaving less for the
spring and summer months to follow. Inversely, the average precipitations effects on the water
supply are less measurable, due to the inability to correctly asses the amount of total runoff derived
from precipitations role as the catalyst of the melting process. Measurements of this kind must be
more than just an estimate, Hanak and Lund cite that It is likely to be decades before we know if
and by how much precipitation and runoff volumes are changing (pg 20). But precipitations effects
on snowpack volume must remain relevant, the effects of reduced runoff due to decreased
precipitation appear to be much more important than

Differences Of Edgar Allan Poe, Hawthorne And Washington...
Poe, Hawthorne, and Irving
A light switch is either on or off; in a sports match, a team either wins or loses; water is either hot
or cold; people are wealthy or poor; thin or fat; muggle or wizard, Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde. These
are examples of binary opposites. Rational and irrational thinking are binary opposites meaning that
they are concepts that cannot coexist. However, many of the authors that we have read about push
the boundaries of this concept. They force our minds to look at the gray areas instead of just black
and white and to reflect on reality vs fantasy. They bring the unknown, the fears, and the unaccepted
into our world. These authors mix true events with things that they couldn t know so they made
them up. Edgar Allan Poe, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Washington Irvingare well known authors of
American Romanticism. They are also all known for pushing these boundaries through their
creative writing styles. The Romantic Movement, as generally agreed by most scholars, focuses on
the individual, the subjective, and the spontaneous (Pennell, 2006, 2). Romantics encouraged
contemplation and self awareness, direct contact with nature, and a focus on and an exploration of
inner feelings.
Edgar Allan Poe born in Boston January 19, 1809. Poe s parents both died before his third
birthday. He was raised by his foster parents John and Frances Allan in Richmond, Virginia. After
Poe enlisted in the Army his first collection of poems was published, followed by his second

The Rise Of Taliban And The Crisis Of Afghanistan
The Rise of the Taliban and the Crisis of Afghanistan
The Rise of the Taliban and the Crisis of Afghanistan describes the journey and development of the
Taliban from its beginning to its end. Many sociological perspectives are presented by many
different sociologists. The perspectives are separated into different chapters and the entirety is
edited by Robert D. Crews and Amin Tarzi. The collective theme is the movement and process of
the Taliban and the development and decline of Central Asia.
The Introduction lays out a background of the history of the Taliban and its movement throughout
Afghanistan and other regions. The Taliban underwent cycles of both successes and failures. The
Taliban`s methods and motives mostly remain constant throughout their time. The Introduction also
lays out the primary thoughts of the chapters. Each chapter deals with different aspects and topics
within the Taliban and Central Asia.
Abdulkader Sinno divulges into the relationship between the Taliban and the Pashtun community.
Sinno writes Whoever mobilizes the Pashtuns rules Afghanistan...Afghanistan cannot be ruled
without their consent. The Taliban has been only one of few who have been able to mobilize the
Pashtuns. The Taliban was able to do such with fewer resources, less expertise in institution
building, and in a shorter period of time than others who tried and failed. Therefore, Sinno
addresses the question of how the Taliban was able to be so successful in mobilizing the

Peenemunde Research Paper
Beginning from deep within the depths of Nazi held territory to appearing on virtually every
continent. Ballistic Missiles have had a long history dating back to 1939 and the beginning of the
V Weapons program, and have been around in one way or another for over 70 years, indeed the
advent of modern missile technology has changed the face of modern warfare and politics, and
coupled with the advent of the two stage hydrogen bomb, they have now brought humanity the
closest to another World War. Ballistic missile
development, proliferation, and usage have had one
of the largest and most profound impacts on modern warfare and international politics. On the cold
and misty morning of October 3rd, 1942 Wernher Von Braun and his team at the remote baltic
island of Peenemunde stood around a launch console from their safety bunker looking upon the
apex of their years of engineering. For years the team at Peenemunde, under the direct orders of the
FГјhrer himself labored building the most technologically advanced weapon system ever devised,
in an operation rivaling the scale of the Manhattan project. For years the RAF under the command

difference is in the flight path, as the term cruise implies, the missile flies at typically low level,
at relatively slow velocities as compared to a ballistic missile, which as previously stated follows
a ballistic trajectory similar to that of artillery fire. They however are typically guided by the same
systems, almost exclusively using either GPS guidance or inertial gyroscopic guidance, however
by virtue of their low flying nature, cruise missiles tend to be far more accurate, but with modern
guidance systems this reduces to a negligible

Sassy Junie B. Jones
As we grew up, only five and half years apart, she was always the perfect child. She was the prim,
proper, kind to everyone, no matter what Hermione Granger, while I was the always ripping my
clothes, messy, very sassy Junie B. Jones. Never did I know, how much of an impact a sister will
have on your life. One night, I remember helping her pack for college. I wasn t doing this for
her, but for me. She had everything perfectly organized, laid out. I was down there to help but

voice. Both her and I argued back and forth, trying to generate a very exasperated person. Soon we
stopped after we both concluded that neither was going to give up.

A Summary Of The Ancient Greek And The Byzantine Empires
Both the Ancient Greek and the Byzantine Empires have a long and familiar history with
warfare, acclimated to crushing losses and sweeping victories. In Greece, military action has
fended off the Persian invaders and brought warring city states deep set rivalries. Within the
Byzantine Empire, conquest has brought Rome back into the Roman Empire. Despite both
civilizations high esteem in military conquest and glory, they had contrasting views of warfare
and how their respective armies went to work. The Greek Classical Terracotta volute krater,
attributed to the Painter of the Woolly Satyr, illustrates two messy front line battles in separate
registers. Meanwhile, from the Early Byzantine period, the silver Plate with the Battle of David
and Goliath depicts not so much a battle between two armies, but rather a dramatic yet
organized duel, over the course of 3 registers. From these two pieces, one could all but assume
one statement: of the artists and commissioners of the terracotta volute krater and the Plate with
the Battle of David and Goliath, only those of the former have seen battle. In the terracotta
volute krater, the viewer immediately sees from any angle that there is indeed a raging battle
afoot in the register occupying the body of the vase. The amazonachae, a battle between the
mythical Amazon (a race of warrior women) and Greeks, were a popular subject of works,
particularly in Athens. On one face of the neck of the vase, there rages a fight between centaurs
and Lapiths. Meanwhile, the Byzantine Plate with the Battle of David and Goliath depicts the
titular duel from the holy text. Despite drawing the viewer s eyes to the larger middle register
depicting the biblical fight, the silver plate s top register begins the plate s narrative: David is
confronting the giant Goliath. More importantly, among the two holding their hands out in
blessing (thumb to ring finger), David has the the blessing of God (depicted as a hand descending
from the sky). In this narrative, David s victory is assured; after all, he has the approval of God;
such is not the case in the amazonachae nor the centauromachia depicted on the volute krater, in
which victory is still uncertain. Needless to say, these works of art do not

Should Video Games Be Considered A Sport Essay
Should videogames be considered a sport?
With the advancement in technology and the growing gaming world, Esports are growing rapidly,
the competition is getting tougher in tournaments, and millions are tuning in to watch. Some
people says that the video games shouldn t or will never be a Sport, but the thing that they don t
know is that is slowly becoming one with no one noticing it. The Sports are all forms of usually
competitive physical activity or games which, through casual or organized participation, aim to use,

some cases, spectators. (3) , just like chess, is considered a sport, but is not using the physical

there s something call PC GAMER, that are specially sated computers with huge power to run any

a pc is not required for the tournament is COD (Call of Duty), then League of legends, Dota2,

popularity and Emergence of online streaming services have helped the growth of Esports in this

Pharmacology is the study of the effects drugs have and how they exert them. Drugs can be
administered enteral or parenteral. [1] Enteral refers to any form of administration that involves the
alimentary tract. The four enteral routes of administration include the mouth, sublingual, buccal
and rectal. Parenteral refers to routes of administration outside of or beside of the alimentary tract.
The parenteral route includes intravascular (IV), Intramuscular (IM) and subcutaneous (SC) routes
of administration. The parenteral routes are used for drugs that are poorly absorbed or that are
unstable in the GI tract. The parenteral routes are used in unconscious patients or when a fast

The passage of the drugs is not affected by lipid solubility or pH. [2]
Proximal tubular secretion:
The drug that do not enter the glomerular filtrate leaves the glomeruli though efferent arterioles.
The arterioles divide to form a capillary plexus surrounding the nephric lumen in the proximal
tubule. The occurrence of secretions mainly occurs in the proximal tubule. This happens by active
transport, one for anions and one for cations. Active transport requires energy. The two systems
have low specificity and can transport many compounds. [2]
Distal tubular reabsorption:
The concentration of the drug will exceed that of the perivascular space due to the increase in
concentration as the drug moves toward the distal convoluted tubule. The drug may diffuse back
into the circulation if it is uncharged. In attempt to minimize the diffusing back into circulation, the
pH of the urine may be manipulated to increase the ionised from of the drug. [2]
Below is a diagram to show renal elimination.
[4]
People with kidney problems/disease must have the dosage of drugs administered adjusted as they
have a lower glomerular filtration rate than those without kidney problems/disease. People with
renal dysfunction and those on dialysis are often given opioids for pain relief. Adjusting the dosage
for a therapeutic effect without overdosing is difficult for patient with renal dysfunction and those
on dialysis. Giving opioids to the patient

Then they point out the lack of description could confuse the readers/ viewers, because they don t
know whether to read the images from left to right or vice versa. This analysis is a strong argument,
because it is very important when doing a photo essay to be concise and clear as possible so that
the readers/ viewers would not be confused as to what the writer is trying to convey or show
them. It is also important to show a chronological order. Another strong argument is when they
make note that Hoffman doesn t explicitly mention about race. However, a photo essay as a mode
of Ethnography require gaze. Which implies that physical appearance need to be describe since
the gaze revolved around the bodies. Moreover, the comments on the body scar and how to
differentiate between the body of a workplace and from war. There is no way to differentiate them;
unless they are accompanied by an audio interview. It is true just simply gazing at the body, the scar
cannot convey the information to the gazers. Therefore, a communication needs to occur between
the gazers and participants to get the full story of the person. Overall, they seem to pose questions a
lot, each time they formulate an argument. This is remarkable, because it makes their arguments
stronger. They also compare between the photo essay with other works done by Hoffman or by
different authors. This indicate that he done his literature review and strengthened their

An Analysis of Three Presidential Elections
In this paper, three years of presidential elections shall be analyzed, mainly keeping an eye on the
turnout of voter, and the causes and effects of such turnouts. It shall be observed that voting
turnouts are directly related to the attitude candidate have and the ways in which they make fellow
citizens eager about their potential presidency, and the policies they plan on bringing to the country
that are related to the general public.
The first year of Presidential elections to be analyzed is that of 1988. Records show that in 1988,
in which Dukakis and Bush were battling for the title of President, the turnout was even lower than
the average expectation and only 91,594,686 people showed up to cast their vote. This figure
concludes that 50.1 percent of people eligible to vote came to elect the president of their choice and
the rest did not show interest. (Wright, 1995)
As mentioned the 1988 election was not very successful in attaining the president of the choice of
most American people because a very low number of people showed up to cast their vote. The low
turnout can be explained through several reasons.
First of all, it must be realized that Dukakis was a democratic candidate. It is well known that
democrats usually attract the low socioeconomic population who are more likely to skip voting for
reasons that are not political. However, those with higher socioeconomic statuses, who are less
likely to skip elections, are generally in favor of Republican leaders.

Why Do Bees Have A Sense Of Smell
During the early 1900s, two experiments were performed to determine whether bees have a
sense of smell. Experiment 1 Identical cardboard boxes with removable covers were set up on a
table. Each individual box had a door opening for bees. A dish of sugar water that was scented
with a fragrant oil was placed in one box, and all the other boxes were left empty. After the bees
had been exploring the boxes for many hours, it was evident that the bees could very easily find
the fragrant sugar water even after the boxes had been switched to different places. After the
initial training period, clean boxes were prepared for the bees. No sugar water was used; however,
the same fragrant oil was used to scent one box. Bees continued to buzz around

Physics of Mountain Biking Essay
Mountain biking is enjoyed by millions of people throughout the year, and is attracting more and
more people everyday. Physics plays a vital role in this sport and without it, mountain biking
would have no challenges and would cease to exist. The concept of mountain biking is simple.
Just take your primitive bike riding skills, and ride trails found off the beaten path. From this
notion of riding a bike, an Olympic sport has evolved and many people have found meaning and
joy in their lives.
m = mass of bike and rider g = gravitational force
A= acceleration mu = kinetic friction coefficient
В· Inertial Forces = m *A
В· Frictional Force = mu * m * g * cos(theta)
В· Gravitational Force = m * g * sin(theta)
Gravity is the force that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case gravity is working to your advantage and is pulling you down the hill. So, as you bike
down hills, you can accelerate due to your own power as well as accelerate due to the force of
gravity.
Lets take a more in depth look at this force called gravity!
The force of gravity exerts a constant acceleration of 9.81 m/sec^2 towards the center of the
earth. While gravity is being exerted downward, a normal force is being exerted on the rider
opposing gravity. This normal force acts perpendicular to the earth s surface, and for our
purposes the trail a biker is riding. So for example, if a biker were on a flat surface, both gravity
and the normal force would be acting upon the biker, but in opposing directions, thereby canceling
each other out and can be ignored. However, this combination of gravity and the normal force is
what makes climbing up hills difficult, and riding down hills a breeze.
In the sport of mountain biking you experience both accelerations and decelerations. This is
what makes mountain biking so exciting, but it also the reason why you should always wear a
helmet! Acceleration is defined as a change in velocity divided by a given amount of time. A
rider accelerates as he or she exerts energy and starts to pedal, but can also accelerate as he or she
rides down a hill, and this acceleration is due to the force of gravity mentioned earlier. As you
accelerate, the weight of the wheels affects the

Parent Trap Essay
These differences between original movies and remakes are apparent throughout the history of
movies. During the 1960s, when the original movie The Parent Trap was published, divorce was
a touchy topic. Many children did not even know what it was, because it was so rare. Divorce
had become more common in 1998 when The Parent Trap was remade. More and more children
were seeing their parents split up. How do changes, such as these, tell us about the time periods in
which the movies were made? Both movies tell the same story, but the audiences, standards of men
and women, social norms, and settings vary. The 1961 version of The Parent Trap was undoubtedly
a popular movie, although the main topic divorce was not an ideal during the time.... Show more

The roles of the men and women in the original movie The Parent Trap reflected the time of the
1960s. In the movie, Vicky, Mitch s fiancГ©, is always accompanied by her mother. Vicky was
much younger than Mitch. She had not ever been married before, unlike Mitch who had been
through a divorce. Her mother tagging along everywhere goes to show that parent involvement,
even in marriage, was important during the time of this film. Her mother wanted to make sure that
Vicky did everything she needed to do in order to marry Mitch. All Vicky wanted was Mitch s
money, and her mother was going to make sure that is what she got. As time progressed, women
became more independent. In the 1998 version of The Parent Trap, Meredith, Nick s fiancГ©, is
always alone, never accompanied by her mother. This reflects the women of this time:
independent and able to make decisions for themselves. In this version too, all the fiancГ©
wants is the twins father s money. Greed is a quality that is still seen today because money is
something that everyone wants more than they need. The identical twin girls, Susan and Sharon,
are 14 years old in the original movie. In the remake, the twin girls, Annie and Hallie, are 11 years
old. Changing the age was a necessity for the second movie because girls were much more aged
in 1998 than in 1961. The director of the remake, Nancy Meyers, said, Fourteen year olds today are

Literary Analysis Of The Other Wes Moore
Textual Analysis of The Other Wes Moore In The Other Wes Moore, the author expresses the
striking similarities between him and another man with the same name. The two men are so
similar, in fact, that there are very few elements of their lives that set them apart, such as their
family histories and personal choices. In writing his book, the author has several target audiences in
mind, from youngblack men to young adults pursuing higher education and people in positions of
power. Despite his multiple target audiences, the author has one overall purpose for his book: to
show what happens when a person full of potential gives up hope. The story also goes further,
showing the importance of both familyhistory and personal choicein the shaping of a person s
future. The purpose of the story is to show what a person could be if they live out their full
potential, and what they could end up being if they give up. The author remarks that the chilling
truth is that his story could have been mine. The tragedy is that my story could have been his ,
indicating that had circumstances been different for either man, their lives could have been even
more similar (xi). The author is the man who lives to his full potential, eventually receiving the
Rhodes Scholarship and working for both the White House and Wall Street (176). In contrast, the
other Wes loses hope and allows himself to get caught up in the drug game, resulting in him
serving...a life sentence in jail (174). Both men

Pre nuptial agreements, however controversial, are nothing more than a commonsense idea which
not only eases the burden that the financial division of divorce has of the courts, but makes the
whole divorce proceedings emotionally and financially easier for everyone involved. Something as
simple as a contract which states the financial situation of each party before marriage is not giving

It also deals with, to a small extent , the extra finance given to whoever would have custody of the
children post divorce, though this is mostly in the hands of the divorce courts. (www.pre

divorce, as it is making it easier for everyone involved.
Before December 2000, pre nuptial agreements were not held legally binding by legal courts
couples could form their own agreement before marriage but the courts did not have to stick by
them. This created a problem within the marriage where certain circumstances called for the
division of property to be different from that as stated by the Family Law Act. Some of these special
circumstances might include if you want to keep premarital assets seperate, if you are blending
families (both partners already have children), you want to ensure that the family wealth stays
within the family, or if you simply just want certainty as to property rights and maintenance
payments upon a potential divorce. (www.pre nuptialagreements.com.au)

Calvin Coolidge Beliefs
While drafting out my essay on the values President Coolidge and I share, I began to wonder
what people thought of when they heard Calvin Coolidge . I asked many acquaintances and the
results shocked me. Majority of those that I spoke with about President Coolidge did not know
much about him. They felt as though he was not a good or popular president because they had not
heard much about him during school, unlike other presidents such as President Lincoln and
President Washington. The only thing that came to their mind was that he looked like an
intelligent man and he was known as Silent Cal . I was more than just taken aback by my
findings: I was disappointed. My 30th president stayed within his values and didn t try to be well

This is because without one, you can never have the other. Throughout his autobiography,
President Coolidge wrote about one teacher more than the rest: Charles E. Garman. He wrote
about this man because he wanted to share what he learned from Mr. Garman with his readers.
He related it to something important to him, so might we understand it. When I read about how
President Coolidge felt about his teachers at Black River Academy, I thought I was reading a
mirror: I feel the same about teachers who ve taught me in Oak Grove. I have been blessed to be

Introduction
A generation can be defined as the period, cohort or age of a group of people. Age is seen as the
age that the persons were when particular transitions or events in life take place. Period can be
defined as the overall experience of a person s lifetime. Lastly, cohort can be seen as the overall
grouping of people who have shared events during their formative years that more than likely
contribute to like minded behavior throughout the duration of their lives. There are currently four
generations in United States society: Silent Generation, Baby Boomers, Generation X and The
Millennials. The silent generation was born between the years of 1930 and 1945. Significant
events during this time period include but are not limited to World War II and the Great
Depression. The baby boomer generation was born between the years of 1946 and 1964.
Significant events for this generation include the substantial growth of the middle class as well as
economic prosperity. Generation X is born in the time period of 1965 1979, this generation was
brought together by the big energy issue as well as the Vietnam War. Lastly the final generation
that is currently in the workforce are the Millennials. This generation was born between the years

4. The state of Arkansas was the first to have such a system, so it has a competitive edge in
attracting new business to the state. Explain why can this advantage be sustained when other states
will use a similar system in the future?
Answer: One big advantage for the state of Arkansas is that the product in offered is first of its
kind and as such has an edge over other states. As discussed in Answer 1, GeoStor which used by
private sector will offer incentives for these companies to relocate as opposed to states that do not
offer such services. As such competition will automatically be at a disadvantage. First time use4rs
of this system will have a competitive advantage as they become competitive necessities which
are required by every organization. Some of the examples are online package tracking, buying of
concert ticket and reserving seats for transport. 5. Can any GIS data be combined with GPS data?
For what uses?
Answer: Not all GIS data can be combined along with GPS data especially static GIS data.
It can be used by a company to portray GIS to about products, available at different locations,
discount on the product. This gives a static picture intended to get the customers coming in. For
this purpose GPS data is of little use. In majority of cases though, GIS is used along with GPS data

Embryonic Stem Cell Research Outline
What is Embryonic? Embryonic is relating to an embryo, or an unborn. Embryonic stem cell
research is a theory by scientists, that research can cure painful diseases such as Diabetes,
Parkinson s disease, Cancer, Heart Disease, and many other unusual genetic disorders. The
Embryonic stem cell research began in 1988 by James Thomson and his associates. James Thomson
discovered how to excoriate the human embryonic stem cells from within the cellmass through IVF,
given for research intendment. IVF is the act of removing fertile eggs from a female s ovaries and
fertilized with sperm in a laboratory culture dish.
Has the Embryonic Stem Cells cured any disease? The answer is no, there is only a possibility
that it may cure an immune disease. There are no Federal Laws against Embryonic Stem Cell
research. The National Instituted of Health Guidelines on Human Stem Cell Research (Stem Cell

Introduction
When we think of violence, we often reflect on an image the news has portrayed. We think of gun
violence, robberies, or some other brutal attack that has left one dead or seriously injured. It is
common to assume that this is often occurs in low income, poverty stricken areas. A description is
provided of substance abusers, broken families, racism, and a host of other reasons why violence
occurs. Sometimes, in the majority of cases, this description is correct.
At any time, workplace violence can occur. It can injure one person or various people,
emotionally, physically, and mental. Workplace violence occurs anytime that violence is
threatened against someone at work or there is a present threat of violence. It is often committed
against supervisors, managers, and fellow employees by former or current employees. Workplace
violence happens more often than it should. Such as was the case when the apartment manager
was stabbed in Everett in July 2010. In the United States, there has been 20,000 assaults and 792
homicides that has occurred at workplaces, according to the U.S. Department of Labor s

of workplace violence occurred in August of 1986. Patrick Sherrill, a disgruntled post office

Compare My Last Duchess And The Farmers Bride
Marriage and the Natural World
When examining both Robert Browning s, My Last Duchess, and Charlotte Mew s, The Farmers
Bride, the reader witnesses the poems positions of marriage in the natural world. Within both
works, it is quite evident how each relationship is vastly different from the modern world, yet
parallel it at the same time. Whether it be: the interactions between the two people or the conditions
of the marriage, it is made more than apparent that both can be applied to modern
conceptualizations of marriage.
Within My Last Duchess, the reader is introduced to the character of Alfonso, the Duke of Ferrara.
Throughout the poem, Alfonso is talking to an emissary about his late wife (Robert Browning, My
Last Duchess). He then goes on to discuss in detail about how his wife would flirt with every
man she saw, She had a heart how shall I say? Too soon may glad, too easily impressed; she liked
whate er she looked on, and her looks went everywhere (Robert Browning, My Last Duchess).
From this statement, it is made apparent that Alfonso and his previous wife didn t have the
greatest of relationships, this is further segmented when he goes on to say that she held no respect
for the influence he bore, She thanked men good! But thanked somehow I know not how as if she
ranked my gift of a nine hundred years old name with anybody s gift (Robert Browning, My Last
Duchess). Just from these two excerpts alone, it could be assumed that Alfonso and the Duchess

The Deadly Duel Of Baron Von Instetten And Major Crampas
The Deadly Duel
Baron von Instetten and Major Crampas
The Prussian town of Kessin was left in shock over the unexpected duel of Baron von Instetten
and Major Crampas. This duel took place over the issue of an affair in which the wife of Baron
von Instetten, Effi Briest, had with Major Crampas. Baron von Instetten was a man of character,
position and sound morality. (Effi Briest, Chapter 2). He was an ambitious civil servant who was
highly respected by the people around him. Major Crampas, on the other hand, was the total
contrast of Baron von Instetten. He was a man who has had many affairs, a ladies man. (Effi
Briest, Chapter 13). He disregarded rules and regulations and considered them a bore. It all started
when Baron von Instetten marry Effi Briest. At the time of their marriage Instetten was thirty eight
years old while Effi was only seventeen. Instetten was already a senior civil servant responsible for
the large rural district of Kessin. Even though at the time Effi was only seventeen, she was already
conditioned with the social and cultural expectations around her to marry such a distinguished man
as Instetten.
Being the free young girl that she was, Effi could not conform to the social and cultural
expectations put on her as the wife of Instetten. She could not deny herself and her playful
personality. No matter how hard Effi tried, she realized day in and day out that she was unhappy.
Her ambition might be fulfilled, but her desire for fun was never met.

Yeah, right.
It s practically standing room only, and I can feel the plane getting warmer as passengers pack in

What Does Fire Symbolize In Jane Eyre
Fire, the red room and the splintered chestnut tree are all very powerful and symbolic objects
that play a big role in the story of Jane Eyre; and it also symbolizes Jane as a person who has many
disadvantages in life. The following paragraphs will explain in detail why this objects represent
Jane and how it all ties together as a story.
A candle is a very accurate representation of fire. I chose a candle as an object that represents Jane
because of the passion and fury that she demonstrates in the first stage of her life, at Gateshead.
Fire is symbolic of her emotions and how she truly feels. The following quotes will represent much
of her internal conflicts and her emotional issues.
Wicked and cruel! I said. You are a like a murderer you are like a slave driver you are like the
Roman emperors! .... Dear! dear! What fury to fly at master John!... Did ever anybody see such
a picture of passion! (pg 8). In this quote, Jane is exploding with anger at her cousin John Reed.
She is super mad at him and calls him cruel and a murderer . The way in which she goes off on
him is very emotional and frowned upon because of her gender and social class. Bessie and Miss

The Influence Of Social Perception In America
In America, one of the most important characteristics regarding this country would be the way
people perceive our nation s leaders, such as the president. Ideally, it would be beneficial to
American citizens that the nation s leader be perceived in a positive light with accompanying
characteristics such as strong, intelligent, caring, motivated, likeable, experienced, etc. It is evident,
however, that different people hold different views about each individual president. This is because
humans are capable of forming impressions of other individuals without ever meeting them based
on the behaviors, choices, and mannerisms of that other person. In fact, to observe various
psychological phenomena that influence social perception in this world,

We Don t Learn From Experience
We don t learn from experience; we learn from reflecting on experience
* John Dewey
From my limited experience in interacting with others, I have found that dealing with people is an
art. It is something I have to continuously work on and practice to improve. Out of the people I
deal with every day, I believe older adults are the most challenging to deal with. We all have stories
about our grandparents who dislike our partner who always tells them to start exercising or that
they should quit smoking. Or how that grumpy old neighbour from next door keeps forgetting our
name, although they have known us for over ten years. I think working with older adults is
difficult, and there are a number of reasons why I find this to be the case. Here I shall deal with two.
Albert Einstein once said, his biggest fear when he gets old is memory failure. What I find most
challenging when dealing with older adults is that they can easily forget things. I have an 81
year old friend who unfortunately spends most of his time in hospitals. I try to visit him once a
week, and most of the time I see him we usually have the same conversation. He asks the same
questions, talks about the same topics and sometimes repeats the exact same stories and jokes
from the week before. It saddens me to see him this way and I can see the frustration in the nurses
and doctors who deal with him. As a future dietitian, part of my job will be to set dietary programs
and give nutrition advice to older adults. I

Power Struggles And Its Impact On Society Essay
It is an unfortunate reality that not everyone in society is equal. This is due to the centuries of
power struggles and certain dominant groups being the center of decision making. These
dominant groups are seen as privileged and everything in society is created to benefit said
group. This makes the other groups oppressed in that in order to succeed as the privileged, they
must attempt to use a system not created with them in mind. This is where equality comes in. It
allows both groups to exist in the state however denies the boundaries that are still faced among
oppressed groups. This shows the importance of equity. With it, exists a state that provides all
needs necessary for everyone to succeed. Imagine going to a sporting event and watching the
game over a fence. For every person there, one crate is provided for him or her to stand on to see
above the fence. This is an example of equality because everyone is given the same amount of
crates. Now, imagine some individuals still cannot see even when standing on said crate and
need an additional crate in order to be able to watch the game. This is an example of equity.
Presented above is a very popular example of the difference between equality and equity. This
paper will provide a brief explanation of both Equity and Equality and will further explain the
challenges both face in the eyes of the state, as well as which one serves as more persuasive. To
start, equality is the state of being equal, in that everyone is

It is widely believed that this continuing construction work around the coastal areas is the biggest
problem in terms of coral destruction; Nipon Pongsuwan of the Phuket Marine Biological
Centre backs this argument up by saying sludge and debris washed into the sea from building
work across the island was the main factor responsible for the reef destruction (cited in CDDN,
2004). The sludge and sediment deposited in the water contributes the ruin of the reef by
blocking out the sun s rays to the bottom of the sea, and preventing the algae from
photosynthesising which in turn leads to the bleaching of the coral. Thailand s coastline, in
particular around the low lying river estuaries, is primarily made up of mangrove forests. Over
the previous year s Thailand has seen a major decrease in its mangrove land. This can be
attributed to several things; tourism being one of them (Poonnachit Korsieporn, 2000). Where
coastal land is in high demand, many of the mangrove trees are ripped out to create the space for
building hotels and tourist complexes. Mangrove forests are a major world ecosystem in
themselves that provide a home to many species of animal; such as shrimp and different varieties
of ape, so obviously the declining mangrove forests alone are a negative environmental impact of
tourism. However, this deforestation also creates issues for the coral reefs. Mangroves act as
natural barrier to the sea; they prevent the erosion of the coast and stop

Essay about UK s Economy in Europe
UK s Economy in Europe
When one talks about a strong economy, a few key economic indicators will get mentioned;
inflation, unemployment and economic growth. These are considered the three main
macroeconomic indicators of any economy.
To define a strong economy in the simplest form you must have a low rate of inflation, low
unemployment and steady economic growth. During this essay there will be comparisons between
other European countries
(e.g. France, Germany, Luxemburg, Belgium, Spain, Italy) and these economic indictors mentioned
as well as others.
We will start to look at inflation rates. The British economy has slowed over the past 12 months,

These figures are sure to result in low consumer confidence, a reduction in spending and therefore
a dent in economic growth. Germany s unemployment does normally rise in November due to the
suspension of seasonal employment but it seems there is a pattern of rising joblessness. Since the
terrorist attacks on September 11th and therefore resulting in global economic slowdown there has
been a number of job losses in the UK but this is relative all over Europe. The government is
insisting there are enough vacancies in the system to rule out a return to high unemployment (BBC
News Online). It may be some time before these recent lay offs reach the unemployment figures
because these people will not be claiming benefits right away; this could be described as
Frictional Unemployment. Because consumer spending is keeping the economy afloat, the impact
of unemployment figures could be crucial for the continued growth of the UK economy (BBC

Although there seems to be some sort of confusion about unemployment in the UK due to recent
lay offs of workers, it is obvious that there is no real worry as there is in Germany and France and
soon to be released figures should prove this.
Economic growth is a simpler indicator to look at. It measures
National Income. Gordon Brown announced last week in the pre budget report that there has been

The body produces too much acid.
You consume a toxic substance that increases the acid content in the blood.
The body loses an important element, such as bicarbonate, which helps to balance acid.
The kidneys do not remove enough acid from the body.
There are many causes. Metabolic acidosis can be brought on by chronic or life threatening

A whale was stranded on a Christchurch beach in 2009. It died, despite the desperate attempts to
revive the mammal and assist it back into the water. Many residents of Southshore beach tried to
keep the whale hydrated and and attempt to push the animal back to sea.Whaling began in the 11th
century, when the Basques started hunting and trading products from the North Atlantic right whale
(now one of the most endangered species of great whale). They were followed first by the Dutch
and British, and later by the Americans, Norwegians and many other nations. Australia had a
commercial Whalingindustry until 1978. Japanese whaled mainly for humpback, right and grey
whales, developed separately in small coastal communities. From the late nineteenth century
onwards, advancements in technology, such as steam powered boats and the harpoon gun, enabled

Its earliest forms date to at least circa 3000 BC. Various coastal communities have long histories
of subsistence whaling and harvesting beached whales.Early man hunted whales because of the
meat and blubber were able to fulfill his basic survival needs. For thousands of years, the climate
was too cold for many people, including Eskimos and the indigenous people of Greenland, to grow
their own vegetables. Whale meat became breakfast, lunch and dinner. Whale blubber provided
energy and vitamins A,C and D and whale meat is rich in niacin, iron and

History According to the author Fissell, Brenner M., in the article Jury Nullification and the Rule of
Law, published in the Legal Theory journal, Brenner states that It is generally understood that
nullification takes place whenever jurors refuse to apply the law to a given set of facts, but there
are many different circumstances in which this might occur, and different motivations are at work
in each. More precision is necessary. Linder states that the word jury nullification is defined by the
definition nullification, which states that to nullify something is to render [it] of no value, use, or
efficacy; to reduce to nothing, to cancel out (Fissell). Jury nullification is much more common
amongst criminal cases, but one may experience such a thing with a civil case as well (Fissell).
Jury Nullification deals with an aspect of the publics overall acceptance on some aspects of the
law (Fissell). The term community morality is used to explain the overall influence of a smaller
geographic entity on a larger group (Fissell). In England, around 1670 is when there was the first
jury nullification case between William Penn and William Mead, states author Julian Heicklen
from the article Jury Nullification. It was not introduced to the United States until the 1700s, in the
case of Zenger vs New York Governor William Cosby(Heicklen). Which now brings us to the first
case, John Zenger.
According to Linder, Doug with The University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Law in the
article The Trial of John Peter Zenger: An Account, published in 2001, Linder states that No
country values free expression more highly than does the United States, and no case in American
history stands as a greater landmark on the road to protection for freedom of the press than the

So all the other major players have to keep the prices lower than iPhone, because iPhone has the
most market share and has a strong customer brand loyalty. * To summarize, entry into the
smartphone industry is not HIGH but to sustain and compete against the major giants is close to
impossible. 2.) Competitive Rivalry within the industry: High Consumer base: Each firm targets
a different set of audience but most of the time overlapping audience. For e.g Apple targets high
end customers, Nokia targets the common and the sophisticated customers, RIM targets the
enterprise. But the consumer base keeps changing with the change in the dynamics of the
industry. For e.g most of the enterprise clients are shifting to Apple because of the innovative
design of the products offered. Highly Competitive market: The rivalry in the industry is
because of the major players already competing b/w each other. The major firms being Apple,
Samsung, RIM, Nokia PALM and HTC. Although each firm has their own strengths and
weaknesses which might be related to design of product or marketing or cost of handsets.
Competitive Margins: Because of a large number of key players in the phone industry and the cut
throat competition. Every firm is forced to keep the profit margins per sale low and hence attract
more customers. Also the economic crisis during 2008 2009 has made the companies lower their
pricing and thus improve sales. 3.) Negotiating Power of Buyers:

Essay on Micro Brewing a Moving Business
Though its had its shares of market ups and down micro brewing is a stable to american beer
business.
Micro brewing took off in the early 90 s with brew pubs. People where looking for a more
original taste. Micro beers took form of a affordable luxury. Furthermore people wanted to
disconnect with the rapid consumerism from the 80 s with wall mart s and Mc Donald s showing
up everywhere. People where also starting to connect with their local towns and history trying to
distinguish their home town from another. Micro breweries and brew pubs mostly local owned and
operated. Likewise, they often tend to use local ingredients for the brews. Furthermore many micro

These radical idea s and techniques lead to some micro breweries becoming quite large in the mid
90 s. Fueled by big spending and gains in the dot com bubble many saw the trend in beer and
cashed in. With a 50% growth from 1994 95, similarly by 1996 37% of beer drinkers had tried a
micro brew (Robison, John). Many companies such as sam adam where having IPO s, where stocks
are publicly available to trade. Sam adams opened on the first day at 18 dollars for a share and by
the end of the first day it was up to 25 dollars. Red Hook also opened at 18 and was up to 27 and
for a couple years didn t trade below 24. Many jumped on fueled by a gold rush. What s more in
1994 64 new breweries opened, and by the 2nd quarter of 1995 59 had already opened (Gunn,
Eileen).
By 1998 many companies have closed and the survivors where hit hard. Sam Adams brewing went
from trading 20 dollars in 95 to only trading 9 in 98 (Marcial, Gene). Several factors lead to this
burst. Big beer companies such as Anheuser Busch started to join in. With the distribution already
set up and the money to back brand to a national level. Big brews attempt at recreating micro
brews where everywhere. In addition, many had an intentional lack of affiliation with the parent
company. With micro brews normally at a higher cost, 4.99 vs 7.99 for a bottle, they also saw a
huge increase in profits. (Kesmodel,

Amphinomus And Odysseus
Amphinomus is clearly depicted as an antagonist in The Odyssey. He is one of the dozens of
suitors who plague Odysseus home, eat all his livestock, drink all his wine, and vie for his wife s
hand in marriage. Perhaps worst of all, Amphinomus is part of the conspiracy to kill Telemachus.
However, his status as a villain is not entirely dependent on his poor moral character. In fact, some
of his actions show that he isn t a terrible person. Amphinomus does initially oppose putting
Telemachus to death before he can call an assembly when the suitors hear news of his return. In
addition, he does show some degree of hospitality to Odysseus, compelling Odysseus to warn him
about the impending slaughter. These redeeming qualities may make it appear

Compare And Contrast Tom Buchanan And Jay Gatsby
In the 1920 s there was a lot to be said of how people made their money, had parties, and the love
for one another. This was the era when the financial gain was good, at lease for the upper class
population. Even though some people made a living illegally, some bought up bonds and saved
them. There were two men that had several similarities in this day and time, but also had a lot of
differences. These men were Jay Gatsby and Tom Buchanan. It was the way that the love came
about the money that made the difference in their lives. They both loved the same woman, they
both had money, and yet their personalities were so different. Tom Buchanan was married to Daisy
Buchanan. He loved her deeply and passionately, but he was a womanizer. He always

Tata Nano in India
Positioning the Tata Nano (A) and (B) This case deals with the positioning of the Tata Nano for
its launch and after its launch , a new version of ultra low cost cars produced by Tata Motors Ltd.
for the India s market. The Tata Nano aimed to revolutionize the India s market. First, the goal of
the Tata Nanowas to be the smallest in order to be maneuverable, as the streets in India were
extremely small and unsafe. At the same time, the Tata Nano had to be the most affordable car
in India, at a price of Rs. 1 lakh, in order to allow everyone to afford this car and more particularly
those who could not afford a car before. To finish, as Tata MotorsLtd aimed to improve the quality

To finish, we can see that the two wheelers (motorbikes, etc.) are clearly dominating the vehicles
sales market in India (representing 76% of the total vehicle sales whereas passenger vehicles
represent 16% of the total vehicles sales in India) and could be in fact the main competitors of the
Tata Nano. Indeed, they are well adapted to the small streets and their maneuverability is well
known in the mind of customers, and more particularly college students. Besides, these two
wheelers have a very competitive price (Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 75,000) and are less expensive to
operate and for the maintenance than the Tata Nano. As a result, the two wheelers are probably the
main competitors as they answer the same needs than the Tata Nano. Concerning the suppliers, we
can see that they can have a huge impact on the automobile industry, as rising raw material costs
can quickly increase the price of the cars, which was finally the case for the Tata Nano after its
launch. To finish with the consumers, the case indicates that they are looking for low prices but
their aspirations are rising. We are now going to look at the context of the automobile industry.
The government s liberalization of regulations on foreign trade and restrictions on private
companies in 1991 helped the car s industry to flourish, with an annual growth of 17%. However,
per capita ownership is low in India, only 12 car owners per 1,000 people. Indeed, consumers are
privileging the two wheelers, as explained

The Financial Crisis Of 2007 Essay
Seven billion people affected. How can a single screw up lead to a mess that not even
governments can fix? How can something so severe continue to damage countries financially 5
years after it began? Many people didn t see it coming. But what s worse is that the people that
did see it coming, contributed to it. Yes. They fueled this mess. And now we can t get out of it.
This is the financial crisis of 2007 . Let s dig in to where it all began. The subprime mortgage crisis
was a result of mortgagebrokers selling mortgage products to people with terrible credit, no down
payments for the house, no stable income into the home, and basically no nothing instead of
selling it to responsible people who they knew would not default on their mortgage. (Let s call the
reliable homeowners prime and the unreliable ones sub prime for times sake). They would give
out home mortgages to everyone knowing that they wouldn t be responsible for the mortgage that
they give out, but that they would be able to sell them to investment bankers, who would then sell
them to investors, hedge funds, etc or at least be left with a house as housing prices always rise.
But let s start from the beginning of how this whole mess started. So Wall St. hatched an idea to
connect investors to home owners through mortgages. A family decides that they want to purchase
a house so they save up for a down payment and then contact a mortgage broker who connects them
to a mortgage lender who sells them a mortgage. The

Argument Essay
Collin Brozek Scott Harber Comp. I April 14th, 2013 Argument Essay There are a plethora of
reasons why pop and soft drinks are bad for personal health as well as the environment. Never
the less there have been an increase of obesity cases and children with diabetes caused solely by
the consumption of sugar filled beverages. The consumption of soft drinks and other carbonated
beverages have multiple negative effects, and I want to briefly cover ten or so reason as to why
soda is hazardous to our bodies as well as some negative effects that drinking soda on a daily basis
has on the body. To begin, soft drinks are nothing but flavored sugar water, which is completely
unhealthy for the body; the constant consumption of sodas can lead... Show more content on

The rats that were exposed and given more or excessive amounts of phosphates died on average
five weeks before the rats that have normal levels. This is quite frightening because canning
plants and manufactures over time have increased the amount of acids they put in their sodas.
(FASEB 1) One a side note, but still a concern to our environment is artificial sweeteners. So far
scientist aren t sure whether they are harmful to humans and our bodies, but what they do know
is, is that the sweeteners used in diet sodas cannot breakdown in our bodies. Scientist in
Switzerland around 2009 tested water treatment plants around the country and discovered that
there were trace amounts of acesulfame K, sucralose, as well as saccharin which are all used in
the sweetening of diet sodas. While not completely harmful, yet, to humans it still shows signs of
interface with animals that live near lakes and rivers. So now not only are sodas not good for
humans, but is also causing problems to animals. Back to the main subject of sodas and soft drinks,
targeting one brand in particular; Mountain Dew. Mountain Dew has caused so much of a problem
among adolescents and teens that they are considering making it a medical condition. With the
name like Mountain Dew Mouth or the Mountain Dew Mind due to the above average amounts of
sugar that is in Mountain Dew, which causes teens mouths to be full of cavities. A

want to be loved. This experience made me realize that caring for animals is something I enjoy

  • 2. How Autonomy Should Be Fully Operate Themselves With No... With the push from google and Tesla to develop fully autonomous cars, the big question I think we should ask is should we? Should we develop vehicles that can fully operate themselves with no possibility of human intervention? Since Google in the early 2000s, there has been a push from manufacturers to produce vehicles that will one day be The driver. These systems can see obstacles in front, behind, and all around themselves. They can brake, accelerate, make turns, and park all by themselves, but should they have this level of control? Should we have some level of control over these systems? I think the driverless discussion like many should meet in the middle just like the old Diamond Rio song. Autonomy should benefit the elderly, the disabled, and needy to provide levels of transportation, they otherwise wouldn t have. Autonomy can take over on a crowded commute home after a long day of work. It can relieve the driver when they need it, but people should always know how to drive, and we should continue to bolster the transportation of our nation. The first article we will cover is Brian Fung s article, The big question about driverless cars that no one seems able to answer. Fung deals with the large issue of liability with driverless cars. He focuses on how insurance companies will have to adjust as cars become increasingly more autonomous. Fung interviews several companies including State Farm, Liberty Mutual, and the District of Columbia Insurance Federation. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Drought Stricken State’S Climate Leaves Its’ Water The drought stricken State s climate leaves its water supply to be volatile and unpredictable, creating a hash reality for all demanders of the scarce resource. In the worst of times California s climate is destructive to the wellbeing of not only Californian s quality of life, but the surrounding ecosystems. With unseasonably higher temperatures presenting issues farther into the future, in Adapting California s water managementto climate change , the authors Ellen Hanak and Jay Lund provide an overview of the effects California s climate has during times of drought, and the complications it presents for the State s water management. Water management in the state oversee a plethora of concerns; properly planning supply and delivery... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Delta is the lifeblood of California s water supply system, but when sea levels rise more and more of the levee system that blockades the salt and fresh water erodes, it leads to what is known as seawater intrusion. More simply, the contamination of freshwater by its salty counterpart. This process happens at varying rates, disrupting the water supply at a snail s pace or more in abundance, leaving a rippling effect to be felt for months, or even years. Climates effects on snowpack levels is far more measurable, where warming temperatures lead to higher levels of winter runoff. Thus depleting the snowpack earlier in the year, and leaving less for the spring and summer months to follow. Inversely, the average precipitations effects on the water supply are less measurable, due to the inability to correctly asses the amount of total runoff derived from precipitations role as the catalyst of the melting process. Measurements of this kind must be more than just an estimate, Hanak and Lund cite that It is likely to be decades before we know if and by how much precipitation and runoff volumes are changing (pg 20). But precipitations effects on snowpack volume must remain relevant, the effects of reduced runoff due to decreased precipitation appear to be much more important than ... • 4. Differences Of Edgar Allan Poe, Hawthorne And Washington... Poe, Hawthorne, and Irving A light switch is either on or off; in a sports match, a team either wins or loses; water is either hot or cold; people are wealthy or poor; thin or fat; muggle or wizard, Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde. These are examples of binary opposites. Rational and irrational thinking are binary opposites meaning that they are concepts that cannot coexist. However, many of the authors that we have read about push the boundaries of this concept. They force our minds to look at the gray areas instead of just black and white and to reflect on reality vs fantasy. They bring the unknown, the fears, and the unaccepted into our world. These authors mix true events with things that they couldn t know so they made them up. Edgar Allan Poe, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Washington Irvingare well known authors of American Romanticism. They are also all known for pushing these boundaries through their creative writing styles. The Romantic Movement, as generally agreed by most scholars, focuses on the individual, the subjective, and the spontaneous (Pennell, 2006, 2). Romantics encouraged contemplation and self awareness, direct contact with nature, and a focus on and an exploration of inner feelings. Edgar Allan Poe born in Boston January 19, 1809. Poe s parents both died before his third birthday. He was raised by his foster parents John and Frances Allan in Richmond, Virginia. After Poe enlisted in the Army his first collection of poems was published, followed by his second ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Rise Of Taliban And The Crisis Of Afghanistan The Rise of the Taliban and the Crisis of Afghanistan The Rise of the Taliban and the Crisis of Afghanistan describes the journey and development of the Taliban from its beginning to its end. Many sociological perspectives are presented by many different sociologists. The perspectives are separated into different chapters and the entirety is edited by Robert D. Crews and Amin Tarzi. The collective theme is the movement and process of the Taliban and the development and decline of Central Asia. The Introduction lays out a background of the history of the Taliban and its movement throughout Afghanistan and other regions. The Taliban underwent cycles of both successes and failures. The Taliban`s methods and motives mostly remain constant throughout their time. The Introduction also lays out the primary thoughts of the chapters. Each chapter deals with different aspects and topics within the Taliban and Central Asia. Abdulkader Sinno divulges into the relationship between the Taliban and the Pashtun community. Sinno writes Whoever mobilizes the Pashtuns rules Afghanistan...Afghanistan cannot be ruled without their consent. The Taliban has been only one of few who have been able to mobilize the Pashtuns. The Taliban was able to do such with fewer resources, less expertise in institution building, and in a shorter period of time than others who tried and failed. Therefore, Sinno addresses the question of how the Taliban was able to be so successful in mobilizing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Peenemunde Research Paper Beginning from deep within the depths of Nazi held territory to appearing on virtually every continent. Ballistic Missiles have had a long history dating back to 1939 and the beginning of the V Weapons program, and have been around in one way or another for over 70 years, indeed the advent of modern missile technology has changed the face of modern warfare and politics, and coupled with the advent of the two stage hydrogen bomb, they have now brought humanity the closest to another World War. Ballistic missile development, proliferation, and usage have had one of the largest and most profound impacts on modern warfare and international politics. On the cold and misty morning of October 3rd, 1942 Wernher Von Braun and his team at the remote baltic island of Peenemunde stood around a launch console from their safety bunker looking upon the apex of their years of engineering. For years the team at Peenemunde, under the direct orders of the FГјhrer himself labored building the most technologically advanced weapon system ever devised, in an operation rivaling the scale of the Manhattan project. For years the RAF under the command of Bomber Harris... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beginning with the progenitor to the V 2 Rocket, the V 1 was another Peenemunde invention designed for much the same purpose as the V 2, but with different means to its end. The largest difference is in the flight path, as the term cruise implies, the missile flies at typically low level, at relatively slow velocities as compared to a ballistic missile, which as previously stated follows a ballistic trajectory similar to that of artillery fire. They however are typically guided by the same systems, almost exclusively using either GPS guidance or inertial gyroscopic guidance, however by virtue of their low flying nature, cruise missiles tend to be far more accurate, but with modern guidance systems this reduces to a negligible ... She was the prim, proper, kind to everyone, no matter what Hermione Granger, while I was the always ripping my clothes, messy, very sassy Junie B. Jones. Never did I know, how much of an impact a sister will have on your life. One night, I remember helping her pack for college. I wasn t doing this for her, but for me. She had everything perfectly organized, laid out. I was down there to help but mainly go through and take everything I wanted. She bellowed at me with a thunderous strong voice. Both her and I argued back and forth, trying to generate a very exasperated person. Soon we stopped after we both concluded that neither was going to give up. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. A Summary Of The Ancient Greek And The Byzantine Empires Both the Ancient Greek and the Byzantine Empires have a long and familiar history with warfare, acclimated to crushing losses and sweeping victories. In Greece, military action has fended off the Persian invaders and brought warring city states deep set rivalries. Within the Byzantine Empire, conquest has brought Rome back into the Roman Empire. Despite both civilizations high esteem in military conquest and glory, they had contrasting views of warfare and how their respective armies went to work. The Greek Classical Terracotta volute krater, attributed to the Painter of the Woolly Satyr, illustrates two messy front line battles in separate registers. Meanwhile, from the Early Byzantine period, the silver Plate with the Battle of David and Goliath depicts not so much a battle between two armies, but rather a dramatic yet organized duel, over the course of 3 registers. From these two pieces, one could all but assume one statement: of the artists and commissioners of the terracotta volute krater and the Plate with the Battle of David and Goliath, only those of the former have seen battle. In the terracotta volute krater, the viewer immediately sees from any angle that there is indeed a raging battle afoot in the register occupying the body of the vase. The amazonachae, a battle between the mythical Amazon (a race of warrior women) and Greeks, were a popular subject of works, particularly in Athens. On one face of the neck of the vase, there rages a fight between centaurs and Lapiths. Meanwhile, the Byzantine Plate with the Battle of David and Goliath depicts the titular duel from the holy text. Despite drawing the viewer s eyes to the larger middle register depicting the biblical fight, the silver plate s top register begins the plate s narrative: David is confronting the giant Goliath. More importantly, among the two holding their hands out in blessing (thumb to ring finger), David has the the blessing of God (depicted as a hand descending from the sky). In this narrative, David s victory is assured; after all, he has the approval of God; such is not the case in the amazonachae nor the centauromachia depicted on the volute krater, in which victory is still uncertain. Needless to say, these works of art do not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Should Video Games Be Considered A Sport Essay Should videogames be considered a sport? With the advancement in technology and the growing gaming world, Esports are growing rapidly, the competition is getting tougher in tournaments, and millions are tuning in to watch. Some people says that the video games shouldn t or will never be a Sport, but the thing that they don t know is that is slowly becoming one with no one noticing it. The Sports are all forms of usually competitive physical activity or games which, through casual or organized participation, aim to use, maintain or improve physical ability and skills while providing entertainment to participants, and in some cases, spectators. I had saw the 2014 and 2015 League of legends championships and in my opinion, is something worth to watch. [1] Enteral refers to any form of administration that involves the alimentary tract. The four enteral routes of administration include the mouth, sublingual, buccal and rectal. Parenteral refers to routes of administration outside of or beside of the alimentary tract. The parenteral route includes intravascular (IV), Intramuscular (IM) and subcutaneous (SC) routes of administration. The passage of the drugs is not affected by lipid solubility or pH. [2] Proximal tubular secretion: The drug that do not enter the glomerular filtrate leaves the glomeruli though efferent arterioles. The arterioles divide to form a capillary plexus surrounding the nephric lumen in the proximal tubule. The occurrence of secretions mainly occurs in the proximal tubule. This happens by active transport, one for anions and one for cations. Active transport requires energy. The two systems have low specificity and can transport many compounds. [2] Distal tubular reabsorption: The concentration of the drug will exceed that of the perivascular space due to the increase in concentration as the drug moves toward the distal convoluted tubule. The drug may diffuse back into the circulation if it is uncharged. In attempt to minimize the diffusing back into circulation, the pH of the urine may be manipulated to increase the ionised from of the drug. [2] Below is a diagram to show renal elimination. [4] People with kidney problems/disease must have the dosage of drugs administered adjusted as they have a lower glomerular filtration rate than those without kidney problems/disease. People with renal dysfunction and those on dialysis are often given opioids for pain relief. Adjusting the dosage for a therapeutic effect without overdosing is difficult for patient with renal dysfunction and those on dialysis. Giving opioids to the patient ... • 11. Essay On Chesapeake My Hometown I have lived in Chesapeake since five years of age. I have no recollections of previous areas I have lived in, so I consider Chesapeake my hometown. The most I know about Chesapeake is in reference to the Chesapeake Bay and local attractions in my area. Through researching the the following information about my city I have learned about more than just local attractions, but how it plays a role in my public health and the health of the communities surrounding Indian River. Chesapeake, Virginiawas formed on January 1, 1963 due to a merger of South Norfolk and Norfolk County. It is also important to show a chronological order. Another strong argument is when they make note that Hoffman doesn t explicitly mention about race. • 13. An Analysis of Three Presidential Elections In this paper, three years of presidential elections shall be analyzed, mainly keeping an eye on the turnout of voter, and the causes and effects of such turnouts. It shall be observed that voting turnouts are directly related to the attitude candidate have and the ways in which they make fellow citizens eager about their potential presidency, and the policies they plan on bringing to the country that are related to the general public. The first year of Presidential elections to be analyzed is that of 1988. Records show that in 1988, in which Dukakis and Bush were battling for the title of President, the turnout was even lower than the average expectation and only 91,594,686 people showed up to cast their vote. This figure concludes that 50.1 percent of people eligible to vote came to elect the president of their choice and the rest did not show interest. (Wright, 1995) As mentioned the 1988 election was not very successful in attaining the president of the choice of most American people because a very low number of people showed up to cast their vote. The low turnout can be explained through several reasons. First of all, it must be realized that Dukakis was a democratic candidate. It is well known that democrats usually attract the low socioeconomic population who are more likely to skip voting for reasons that are not political. However, those with higher socioeconomic statuses, who are less likely to skip elections, are generally in favor of Republican leaders. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Physics plays a vital role in this sport and without it, mountain biking would have no challenges and would cease to exist. The concept of mountain biking is simple. Just take your primitive bike riding skills, and ride trails found off the beaten path. From this notion of riding a bike, an Olympic sport has evolved and many people have found meaning and joy in their lives. m = mass of bike and rider g = gravitational force A= acceleration mu = kinetic friction coefficient В· Inertial Forces = m *A В· Frictional Force = mu * m * g * cos(theta) В· Gravitational Force = m * g * sin(theta) Gravity is the force that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this case gravity is working to your advantage and is pulling you down the hill. So, as you bike down hills, you can accelerate due to your own power as well as accelerate due to the force of gravity. Lets take a more in depth look at this force called gravity! The force of gravity exerts a constant acceleration of 9.81 m/sec^2 towards the center of the earth. While gravity is being exerted downward, a normal force is being exerted on the rider opposing gravity. This normal force acts perpendicular to the earth s surface, and for our purposes the trail a biker is riding. So for example, if a biker were on a flat surface, both gravity and the normal force would be acting upon the biker, but in opposing directions, thereby canceling each other out and can be ignored. However, this combination of gravity and the normal force is what makes climbing up hills difficult, and riding down hills a breeze. In the sport of mountain biking you experience both accelerations and decelerations. This is what makes mountain biking so exciting, but it also the reason why you should always wear a helmet! Acceleration is defined as a change in velocity divided by a given amount of time. A rider accelerates as he or she exerts energy and starts to pedal, but can also accelerate as he or she rides down a hill, and this acceleration is due to the force of gravity mentioned earlier. During the 1960s, when the original movie The Parent Trap was published, divorce was a touchy topic. Many children did not even know what it was, because it was so rare. Divorce had become more common in 1998 when The Parent Trap was remade. More and more children were seeing their parents split up. How do changes, such as these, tell us about the time periods in which the movies were made? Vicky was much younger than Mitch. She had not ever been married before, unlike Mitch who had been through a divorce. Her mother tagging along everywhere goes to show that parent involvement, even in marriage, was important during the time of this film. Her mother wanted to make sure that Vicky did everything she needed to do in order to marry Mitch. All Vicky wanted was Mitch s money, and her mother was going to make sure that is what she got. As time progressed, women became more independent. In the 1998 version of The Parent Trap, Meredith, Nick s fiancГ©, is always alone, never accompanied by her mother. This reflects the women of this time: independent and able to make decisions for themselves. In this version too, all the fiancГ© wants is the twins father s money. Greed is a quality that is still seen today because money is something that everyone wants more than they need. The identical twin girls, Susan and Sharon, are 14 years old in the original movie. In the remake, the twin girls, Annie and Hallie, are 11 years old. Changing the age was a necessity for the second movie because girls were much more aged in 1998 than in 1961. Literary Analysis Of The Other Wes Moore Textual Analysis of The Other Wes Moore In The Other Wes Moore, the author expresses the striking similarities between him and another man with the same name. The two men are so similar, in fact, that there are very few elements of their lives that set them apart, such as their family histories and personal choices. In writing his book, the author has several target audiences in mind, from youngblack men to young adults pursuing higher education and people in positions of power. Despite his multiple target audiences, the author has one overall purpose for his book: to show what happens when a person full of potential gives up hope. The story also goes further, showing the importance of both familyhistory and personal choicein the shaping of a person s future. The purpose of the story is to show what a person could be if they live out their full potential, and what they could end up being if they give up. The author remarks that the chilling truth is that his story could have been mine. The tragedy is that my story could have been his , indicating that had circumstances been different for either man, their lives could have been even more similar (xi). Ideally, it would be beneficial to American citizens that the nation s leader be perceived in a positive light with accompanying characteristics such as strong, intelligent, caring, motivated, likeable, experienced, etc. It is evident, however, that different people hold different views about each individual president. This is because humans are capable of forming impressions of other individuals without ever meeting them based on the behaviors, choices, and mannerisms of that other person. • 33. We Don t Learn From Experience We don t learn from experience; we learn from reflecting on experience * John Dewey From my limited experience in interacting with others, I have found that dealing with people is an art. It is something I have to continuously work on and practice to improve. Out of the people I deal with every day, I believe older adults are the most challenging to deal with. We all have stories about our grandparents who dislike our partner who always tells them to start exercising or that they should quit smoking. Or how that grumpy old neighbour from next door keeps forgetting our name, although they have known us for over ten years. I think working with older adults is difficult, and there are a number of reasons why I find this to be the case. Here I shall deal with two. Albert Einstein once said, his biggest fear when he gets old is memory failure. What I find most challenging when dealing with older adults is that they can easily forget things. I have an 81 year old friend who unfortunately spends most of his time in hospitals. I try to visit him once a week, and most of the time I see him we usually have the same conversation. He asks the same questions, talks about the same topics and sometimes repeats the exact same stories and jokes from the week before. It saddens me to see him this way and I can see the frustration in the nurses and doctors who deal with him. As a future dietitian, part of my job will be to set dietary programs and give nutrition advice to older adults. I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Power Struggles And Its Impact On Society Essay It is an unfortunate reality that not everyone in society is equal. This is due to the centuries of power struggles and certain dominant groups being the center of decision making. These dominant groups are seen as privileged and everything in society is created to benefit said group. This makes the other groups oppressed in that in order to succeed as the privileged, they must attempt to use a system not created with them in mind. This is where equality comes in. It allows both groups to exist in the state however denies the boundaries that are still faced among oppressed groups. This shows the importance of equity. With it, exists a state that provides all needs necessary for everyone to succeed. Imagine going to a sporting event and watching the game over a fence. For every person there, one crate is provided for him or her to stand on to see above the fence. This is an example of equality because everyone is given the same amount of crates. Now, imagine some individuals still cannot see even when standing on said crate and need an additional crate in order to be able to watch the game. This is an example of equity. Presented above is a very popular example of the difference between equality and equity. This paper will provide a brief explanation of both Equity and Equality and will further explain the challenges both face in the eyes of the state, as well as which one serves as more persuasive. To start, equality is the state of being equal, in that everyone is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

World leaders have long been recognising the huge economic advantages that a booming tourism industry can bring to their nations, and vast amounts of money have been invested set up the infrastructure to support such an industry. It is widely believed that this continuing construction work around the coastal areas is the biggest problem in terms of coral destruction; Nipon Pongsuwan of the Phuket Marine Biological Centre backs this argument up by saying sludge and debris washed into the sea from building work across the island was the main factor responsible for the reef destruction (cited in CDDN, 2004). The sludge and sediment deposited in the water contributes the ruin of the reef by blocking out the sun s rays to the bottom of the sea, and preventing the algae from photosynthesising which in turn leads to the bleaching of the coral. Thailand s coastline, in particular around the low lying river estuaries, is primarily made up of mangrove forests. Over the previous year s Thailand has seen a major decrease in its mangrove land. This can be attributed to several things; tourism being one of them (Poonnachit Korsieporn, 2000). Where coastal land is in high demand, many of the mangrove trees are ripped out to create the space for building hotels and tourist complexes. Mangrove forests are a major world ecosystem in themselves that provide a home to many species of animal; such as shrimp and different varieties of ape, so obviously the declining mangrove forests alone are a negative environmental impact of tourism. However, this deforestation also creates issues for the coral reefs. Mangroves act as natural barrier to the sea; they prevent the erosion of the coast and stop ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These are considered the three main macroeconomic indicators of any economy. To define a strong economy in the simplest form you must have a low rate of inflation, low unemployment and steady economic growth. During this essay there will be comparisons between other European countries (e.g. France, Germany, Luxemburg, Belgium, Spain, Italy) and these economic indictors mentioned as well as others. Since the terrorist attacks on September 11th and therefore resulting in global economic slowdown there has been a number of job losses in the UK but this is relative all over Europe. The government is insisting there are enough vacancies in the system to rule out a return to high unemployment (BBC News Online). It may be some time before these recent lay offs reach the unemployment figures because these people will not be claiming benefits right away; this could be described as Frictional Unemployment. Because consumer spending is keeping the economy afloat, the impact of unemployment figures could be crucial for the continued growth of the UK economy (BBC News Online). Although there seems to be some sort of confusion about unemployment in the UK due to recent lay offs of workers, it is obvious that there is no real worry as there is in Germany and France and soon to be released figures should prove this. History According to the author Fissell, Brenner M., in the article Jury Nullification and the Rule of Law, published in the Legal Theory journal, Brenner states that It is generally understood that nullification takes place whenever jurors refuse to apply the law to a given set of facts, but there are many different circumstances in which this might occur, and different motivations are at work in each. More precision is necessary. Linder states that the word jury nullification is defined by the definition nullification, which states that to nullify something is to render [it] of no value, use, or efficacy; to reduce to nothing, to cancel out (Fissell). Jury nullification is much more common amongst criminal cases, but one may experience such a thing with a civil case as well (Fissell). Jury Nullification deals with an aspect of the publics overall acceptance on some aspects of the law (Fissell). The term community morality is used to explain the overall influence of a smaller geographic entity on a larger group (Fissell). In England, around 1670 is when there was the first jury nullification case between William Penn and William Mead, states author Julian Heicklen from the article Jury Nullification. It was not introduced to the United States until the 1700s, in the case of Zenger vs New York Governor William Cosby(Heicklen). Which now brings us to the first case, John Zenger.
