Leadership Styles As A Public Administrator Essay
Introduction
This paper will discuss various aspects of a public leader. First, it will develop a brief overview of
two leaders and their leadership styles as a public administrator. Next, this paper will compare and
contrast the leadership styles of these two leaders. Also, it will determine three leadership
strengths and weaknesses of each of these leaders, as well as speculate on the effectiveness of
each public leader in terms of each of their successes. Finally, this paper will suggest one key
strength that could influence one s ability to be a public leader.
Examples of Charismatic Leaders
A fine example of a charismatic leader as a public administrator is Napoleon Bonaparte. As an
officer in the French army, he was smart, aggressive and fearless, and inspired great loyalty in just
about anyone he encountered. Additionally, his success was based on his instinctive knowledge of
human behavior, the most prominent of which was his ability to show appreciation to those who
helped him succeed through a rewards system. Furthermore, he realized it was imperative to win
the trust of those he was not leading to bolster their support. An avid speaker, he would inform
citizens in the country in which he was invading that he was not against them, but rather against
their tyrannical leaders. Eventually, Bonaparte s ego got the best of him, and he lost the respect he
had garnered over years, ending up exiled to the island of St. Helena (McManus, n.d., p. 2). Clearly,

Someone who would like to do this as a career should expect to earn at least an associate s degree
which is 2 years after high school. Some areas that you should focus on are: electrical maintenance,
hydraulic maintenance, and braking systems. Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina has
many different programs of study that deal with wind energy and can help you get into this
career. What is the pay that someone could expect from this job? The median annual wage for
wind energy technicians, which is the amount that half of the workers earned more and some
earned less was $51,050 in May of 2015. An apprentice in this career field earn 60% of the wage of
a fully trained technician, and receive more as they learn more.
What does the job outlook look like for this career? From 2014 2024, the job outlook is 108%, this
is high because of how many wind farms are being built and how fast they are being built. The
employment in 2014 was 4400 and is predicted to increase to 9200 by the year 2024. This big
increase is high because of how clean wind energy is compared to other forms of energy and is way

Mixedwood Plains In Ontario
Canada is a country filled with different and diverse ecozones. Two ecozones in Ontario are the
Boreal Shield and the Mixedwood Plains. The Boreal Shield covers a large portion of Canada. It
has a lot of wooded areas and holds a small amount of Canada s population. The Mixedwood
Plains is Canada s smallest ecozone. Even though it s small, it holds much of Canadas population.
The Mixedwood Plains is a better place to live than the Boreal Shield based on its urban
population, its more comfortable climate and its strong economic base.
Well populated areas are important factors when choosing where to live. The Mixedwood Plains

automobile parts, magazines, designer clothes, textiles and leather, plastics, books, newspapers
and more. The Mixedwood Plains is rich in industries and has a GDP of $325billion (Healy et al.
2007 pg.150). The Boreal Shield is rich in tourism and is located farther away from major cities.
The Boreal Shield produces goods including minerals and forestry products, and is home to the
fishing and hunting industries. The Boreal Shield has a GDP of $49billion (Healy et al. 2007

Analysis Of The Prologue By Anne Bradstreet
Tierra Nick
Professor Parker
ENG 202 01
5 October 2017
The Prologue By Anne Bradstreet
Anne Bradstreet s poem, The Prologue , is about the struggle of women in a Puritan Society. In
the Puritan Society, women are held to a certain standard. Women were not able to speak their
mind, openly show they were educated, or express themselves freely, because it was looked down
on. The Prologue , is titled to mark the beginning of her work. In this poem, Bradstreet
acknowledges her role as a woman in a Puritan society, but also makes a brave attempt to achieve
freedom from the Puritan Society. Bradstreet is on a mission to prove to the Puritan society that
women are worthy enough to do what men do. Bradstreet fights for feminism. Bradstreet begins her
poem by acknowledging those superior to her: To sing of wars, of captains, and of kings
Of cities founded, commonwealths begun For my mean pen are too superior things
Or how they all, or each their dates have run
Let poets and historians set these forth
My obscure lines shall not so dim their worth
(Bradstreet 1 6) In lines 1 6, she explains that she is aware of those who contributed to society,
because they have accomplished great things, things that she cannot take away from them. She
states she will not discuss them because her mean pen are too superior things (Bradstreet 3).
Bradstreet uses too to reference her work as being also superior. She wishes to leave it to them to
talk about history without criticizing their worth and the same should be done for her. She adds the
word obscure (Bradstreet 6), to acknowledge her lines are hidden using a form of symbolism.
Symbolizing that most women are hiding their truths. Her point goes into further detail in stanza 2.
Bradstreet begins stanza 2, But when my wond ring eyes and envious heart/Great Bartas sugared
lines do but read o er (Bradstreet 7 8). Bradstreet in some way degrades her poetry, just like the
Puritan society would do. She talks about another poet Barta. When she reads his poems they
seem so great and she envy s him. She also refers to Bartas work as sugared lines referring to his
poetry as pleasurable to read. She uses Barta (a male figure), to further clarify how she will not

How Did Josef Mengele Medical Experiments
The Holocaust was led by Adolf Hitler during World War II. There were many countries involved
such as, the United States of America, Italy, France, and Germany. The Angel of Death also
known as Dr. Josef Mengele was one of the most famous doctors that worked in the internment
camps. Some of the experiments were on twins and dwarfs. Dr. Mengele used a lot of different
experiments against the Jews and there are lasting effects/remnants from the experiments. During
the first phase of experiments, pairs of twins and people with abnormalities through heritage were
put on display for Dr. Mengele and were assigned to go through all conceived medical
examinations. These people had their picture taken. Plaster casts were made from their own jaws

The tub of ice water proved to be the fastest way to drop the body temperature. The victims of
these experiments were young, healthy Jews and Russians. Usually they were stripped and were
to be prepared for their experiments. An insulated probe, which measured the drop in the body s
temperature was put into the rectum. The probe was held in the rectum by an expandable metal
ring that would have been composed to open the inside of the rectum to hold it thoroughly in
place. After they got the probe in place the victim would then be placed into a tub of ice water
and begin to freeze. It was later learned that most victims strayed from consciousness and died
when their body temperature dropped down to 25 degrees Celsius. The intense winters in
Auschwitz made a natural place for some of these experiments. The other way to freeze a victim
was to restrain them on a stretcher and take them outside naked (Medical Experiments of the

Franklin Blake The Moonstone
The Moonstone Everything is never as it seems. In Wilkie Collin s The Moonstone, three
Hindoos are sent on a quest to recover the sacred Moonstone thieved from their holy temple by an
Englishman. In England, they are stereotyped and become victims of racism. Although Franklin
Blake, one of the protagonists of this story, appears attractive from afar, he is a little uglier up
close. Mr. Blake is appealing overall but exhibits behaviors that are disagreeable, while the
Hindoos fluctuate between appearing villainous and victimized. Despite the Hindoos roles as
antagonist, they are the true victims and heroes of this story. To the Indians, the Moonstone is a

Descriptive Essay On Leo
Up in the twinkling night sky of the cosmos marvels a constellation of a Nemean Lion that I
wholeheartedly relate to. In astrology, the fifth zodiac sign, Leo, originates from this
constellation. As a July 27 baby, I am a Leo. During my youth, while buried under blankets, I
fervently read horoscopes and zodiac personality descriptions in magazines. On a similar note,
many children struggle to decipher their own identity and luckily, exploring my zodiac sign
tremendously helped me comprehend the inner workings of my mind. Learning about my zodiac
sign was a remarkable comfort, it electrified me that I was the paradigm of a Leo. In between the
words of astrologyblogs, the answers to the what and why for my own idiosyncrasies were
revealed. Those revelations of a proud fiery zodiac sign manifest as my own characteristics. From
my mannerisms to my physique, the Leo archetype illustrates who I am.
Since the symbol for Leo is a mighty lion, boasting a voluminous mane is, of course, a stereotype
of those born under this sign. One of my most distinguishable features is my silky, straight, waist
length, black hair. Whether it s because of favorable genetics or astrological luck, I frequently
receive compliments on my luscious locks. Specifically, I ll be sitting in class, leaning back, and
ruffling the tangles out of my hair. Karen, your hair is absolutely to die for! my classmate,
Humzah, has said in response.
With hair so beautiful that others are envious, Leos, more likely

Social Anxiety And Emotional Intelligence Among Adults
Social Anxiety in Relation to Emotional Intelligence among adults
Several decades ago, researchers revealed new academic terms that is useful in studying human
behavior. Emotional intelligence and social anxiety concepts were developed from social contexts
in relation to psychology. The two concepts can be studied consecutively with a correlation created
between them. Emotional intelligence can be defined as the capability to manage and identify
individual emotions and those of other people (Bhochhibhoya Branscum, 2015). On the other hand,
Social anxiety is defined as the fear of interacting with people that creates a feeling of self
consciousness or being negatively judged (Blackhart, Williamson, Nelson, 2015). In other words, it

High social anxiety among adults is linked to poor self control or emotional intelligence especially
during interactions. Although the relationship between social anxiety and emotional intelligence
has been so far tested by few researchers, all of them have agreed on the correlation. Therefore, the
current study seeks clarify the correlation between social anxiety and emotional intelligence among
adults. Self control is very important among adults in the society but not everyone has its
possession. It can be termed as poor or good depending on the degree of self control. Social anxiety
and emotional intelligence can be tested in a conversation where the individuals engage each other
in a natural environment (Blackhart, Williamson, Nelson, 2015). It is important for adults to have
self control while engaging in social interactions.
Emotions are considered one of the most important sources of information as well as facilitate the
processing of information among adults. Many psychologies researchers have agreed on most roles
of emotions in their interpretations guided by intelligence in a social conversation. Furthermore,
they agree that emotions influence the thought system of an individual and that of other people as
well as guide their actions. In addition to that, social anxiety is a basic element of human behavior
since it involves the failures and successes related to emotional intelligence. The use of emotions
cannot be avoided especially in

Rifle Vs Spotting Scope Research Paper
Rifle Scope Vs Spotting Scope
When it comes to hunting, accuracy counts. You need to know that when you pull the trigger,
you are going to hit your target. If you do not, you will lose the capture. The same can be said for
all other forms of target shooting and the further away your target is, the harder it will be to hit
your mark. That is why there are so many who wonder which best, a rifle scope or a spotting scope.
Perhaps it is here that you will find the answer.
High End Rifle Scopes Vs a Spotting Scope
There are many reasons that someone may choose to go with a higher end scope. Most high end

It is often a lot more stable to look through than a pair of binoculars or even a rifle scope because it
is designed to be used on a stationary tripod or some other stable surface.
Perhaps Use Both?
There are people who use both devices because they perform a different job. It is easier for many
to use the spotting scope rather than binoculars when they want to see over a long distance and it
also ensures that they are not possibly pointing their rifle at something they would not want to shoot.
There are also those people who feel that if you have a good rifle scope, you do not need to carry
more than absolutely necessary when you are out in the woods. They feel that their rifle scopes
are just as accurate as a spotting scope and that when they see a target, it is easier to use their rifle
and shoot at it rather than have to site it again. It all depends on how each individual feels about it.
How are They Most Useful?
A spotting scope is designed to be accurate while you are scanning the area for a potential target.
Then you can zero in on the target with your rifle scope and wait for a clear shot at it. They are
easier to use than binoculars and offer a very clear view of targets that are far

The Pros And Blessings Of The Kingdom Of God
wonderful a blessing it is to have God speaking to us this way. I know angels in heaven are
rejoicing because the kingdom of God has come to earth. How happy they must be for us all. He
took out a gold coin from his vest pocket. God is fulfilling the promises He made to Abraham,
Isaac, and Jacob. He is a Godwho provides for His chosen people and those brought into the fold.
Do you see this gold coin? God could multiply this coin as He can multiply His blessings to you.
Let us sing praises to His name and make a joyful noise unto the Lord. He retrieved a cornucopia
behind the podium. The choir rose in song, accompanied with organ music and tambourine.
Lawrence walked off the end of the stage and on the air, walking six feet above the floor. He
stirred the assembly to utter amazement. Walking out above their heads, he placed the coin in
the basket and cradled the basket in his arms. Leaning it over, a flow of coins fell into the laps of
the people sitting below him. The coin multiplied before their eyes and continued to shower
down on the assembly who became ecstatic at trying to catch coins. He walked the length of
each row crisscrossing the assembly with the basket before him and allowing a flow of gold to
rain on them. Upon reaching the back row, he returned to the front with gold coins overflowing
and erupting from the cornucopia to confetti the people and floor below him. The coin ceased to

The Baroque Era Of Music Essay
The Baroque chamber orchestra, a type of ensemble today that can vary greatly from group to
group, is involved in a type of performance many musicians remain confused about. For a modern
musician, the confusion surrounding the Baroque style stems from a notion that spending time
learning a style of instrument that is no longer commonplace is something that is not worthwhile or
is even detrimental to a modern instrumental career. Much of this stems from the idea that the
romantic era of musicis the most valid and academic form of music studied and performed. This has
to do with the intense exposure that classically trained musicians are given in the field of romantic
and modern era music.
Today it is very common for violinists to insist on playing the music of Bach, like the 6 sonatas and
partitas, romantically without consideration of the performance practices in the time the music was
written. The avoidance of authentic baroque performance being included in the modern
interpretation stems from the natural aversion modern players have to the baroque sound. What
many people consider to be a baroque sound is one that sounds unpolished and underdeveloped,
most likely due to the lack of vibrato and varying bow and articulation techniques from today s
playing. When looking at baroque music that is commonly played on modern instruments, there is
no better example than the music of J.S. Bach. In the case of the 6 Sonatas and Partitas, today and
especially in the middle to late

Liberal Arts Education Should Be Implemented Into A New...
For centuries, a liberal arts education was a sign of a well rounded, creative individual. However,
in an ever changing era, a liberal arts education is nothing more than an example of how little
people enjoy change. Nowadays, numerous jobs require basic to intermediate computer skills,
literacy in basic business and economic concepts, and a remedial understanding of geography, social
customs, and current events. The core curriculum of a liberal artseducation, which includes history,
math, art, science, English, literature, and a variety of social sciences, needs to be expanded to

Natural sciences entail subjects such as biology, chemistry, and physics, whereas formal sciences
include mathematics. Although the subjects which teach computer skills, business skills, and
world awareness are offered at most universities, they are not required classes, even though they
are quickly becoming necessary skills in the world. The liberal arts standard curriculum needs to
be adjusted to overcome the gap which exists between what students are expected to know and
understand and what they are actually taught. The goal of a liberal arts education is to create a
well rounded, educated individual. Expanding and adjusting a liberal arts education to meet the
requirements of an ever changing society does in no way hinder this goal. In all actuality,
expanding a liberal arts education to require new subjects would simply create more well rounded
individuals. Furthermore, changing the liberal arts curriculum is nothing new. The original
curriculum developed by the Greeks only included grammar, rhetoric, and logic and was soon
expanded during the medieval times to include four new topics (Haidar). Changing the curriculum
becomes necessary when new skill sets are required in society. Since the last time the liberal arts
curriculum was adapted, technology has expanded and with it new skills are required of
employees. With the gap that exists between what skills are necessary and what is

Creating Cross Functional Teams For A Functional Team
Chapter Eight:
What is the key to creating cross functional teams in which team members put the good of the team
ahead of functional self interest?
A team is a group of individuals who works for the common goal and they contribute to achieve a
unique and common objective. Cross functional teams where members come from different
departments and backgrounds to achieve a common unique goal.
The cross functional team requires hand of top management support and commitment, specific goals
and incentives, Self Managed Team champion who acts an advocate in making the team emerge as
self managed team, adequate and necessary resources, team composition, matching culture and
structure, and sufficient team training. By utilizing these factors cross functional teams can really
perform well under all circumstances.
The strategic to create cross functional teams are likely to provide them with all the resources that
they need and work wonders for them. They require members from different fields that are expert
in their domain areas and work effectively for the achievement of the goals that are likely to be
understood on their own.
Thus, cross functional teams can work better with the formation of it of the members from different
fields work together.
Teams are often credited with making better decisions than individuals, yet they are also criticized
for groupthink. What are some of the strategies for creating effective teams that do not fall victim to
the groupthink phenomenon?

Grignard Is The Child Of A Sail Producer Essay
Introduction:
Grignard was the child of a sail producer. In the wake of concentrating on arithmetic at Lyon he
exchanged to science and found the manufactured response bearing his name (the Grignard
response) in 1900. He turned into an educator at the University of Nancy in 1910 and was
granted the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1912. Amid World War I, he studied chemical warfare
agents, especially the produce of phosgene and the identification of mustard gas. His partner on the
German side was another Nobel Prize winning chemist, Fritz Haber. (2) The Grignard reagent is
exceptionally responsive and responds with most natural mixes. It likewise responds with water,
carbon dioxide and oxygen. (2) Grignard reagents are set up by the response of magnesium metal
with fitting alkyl halide in ether dissolvable. The halogen might be Cl, Br, or I. A standout amongst
the most imperative employments of the Grignard Reagent is the response with aldehydes and
ketones to frame liquor. A related blend utilizes ethylene oxide to plan alcohols containing two more
carbon molecules than that of the alkyl halide. (2)
Grignard is most noted for creating another procedure for delivering carbon carbon bonds utilizing
magnesium to couple ketones and alkyl halides.

Essay on Klamath Falls Crisis
the paper is about the water crisis that is taking place right now in the Klamath Falls are of
Oregon. It discusses the many problems that the different groups of interest are dealing with. The
main group that I focused on was the view point of the farmers.
The Klamath Lake, along with other various rivers, lakes and canals that surround it, are the basis
for almost 500 species of wildlife in southern Oregon and parts of northern California. It also serves
as the most important factor in a farmer s livelihood; their irrigation. The basis for the water crisis

It seemed that most of the controversy in the water crisis was either about water rights issues or
about the current water levels compared to the fish population, which in turn had effects on the
endangered species of this area. Very rarely did anyone speak about the Native American s wants
or needs concerning the Klamath River water crisis. The Natives feel that they should have some
say about what decisions are going to be made concerning the area since they have been in the
Klamath are longer than any other group.
As little as the Native Americans were discussed, the needs of the commercial fisherman were
even less than them. I don t think more than one person out of all the guest lecturers and people
we heard from on our class trip had discussed any of the feelings of the fisherman. I m not quite
certain which guest lecturer talked about their needs, but they did mention that the commercial
fisherman felt that they had an economic right to fish the waters of the Klamath. Much like the
Natives, fishing these waters is a way of life for these fisherman and they felt as if it was being
taken away from them.
One of the groups of interest that we discussed in class one day completely slipped my mind from
ever being involved in the water crisis. The political parties, both Democrat and Republican, are

Research Paper On Grimm Brothers
The Grimm brothers
The Brothers Grimm were two brothers named Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm who were born in
Hanau, Germany and their parents were named Philipp Wilhelm Grimm and Dorothea Grimm. The
brothers were German academics, linguists, cultural researchers and authors. Together they
collected and published strange folklore in the 19th century.
After their father died the family suddenly became very poor and that affected them for many years,
but still they went to the University of Marburg and that is when they first became curious about
German folklore and that became a lifelong dedication to collecting them.
A lot of the stories that they collected are still told today and there have been made a lot of movies

The Last Day Of Elizabeth
The next day Elizabeth received an invitation to Duke of Stratford s Ball. No doubt Blair had
secured it for her she d never run in his set before. She appreciated Blair s efforts but wondered
how on earth she d manage a new gown suitable for such an occasion. The Duke s spring ball was
considered the event of the season. The Regent might even put in an appearance. London s finest
would be out in their most impressive jewels and costly gowns. This was not a playing field
Elizabeth was prepared for. She went to her room to survey her paltry evening gowns and
dwindling jewellery case. What she found further underscored her plight.
Marie, what am I to do? The only gown remotely sufficient is two seasons old and at least a size too

know where to send it back . No Madame! You can t! You ve nothing to wear to the ball . Then I

it over her face a mask of disappointment. A mistress with neither youth nor funds was not worthy
of her talents. The note read Once in while a woman should have exactly what she wants exactly
when she needs it, B . Tears formed in Elizabeth s eyes. The gratitude and appreciation of her
friend s perceptive kindness overwhelmed her. It s from Blair. She would brook no refusal and

was too much. She was trembling with each parcel she opened. Marie was beside herself. One

silk drawers and stockings with a note saying enclosed saying Never under estimate the effect of

beautiful pale, pink French fan with a silver handle. Now Elizabeth had no excuse to offer nor did

Two Kinds by Amy Tan Essay
In the short story, Two Kinds by Amy Tan, a Chinese mother and daughter are at odds with each
other. The mother pushes her daughter to become a prodigy, while the daughter (like most children
with immigrant parents) seeks to find herself in a world that demands her Americanization. This is
the theme of the story, conflicting values. In a society that values individuality, the daughter sought
to be an individual, while her mother demanded she do what was suggested. This is a conflict
within itself. The daughter must deal with an internal and external conflict. Internally, she struggles
to find herself. Externally, she struggles with the burden of failing to meet her mother s
expectations. Being a first generation Asian American,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At first, the daughter was to become a Chinese version of Shirley Temple. When that didn t work,
her mother told her that she would be attending piano lessons.
The daughter did not like the idea of playing the piano. Why don t you like me the way I am? . .
. I am not a genius! I can t play the piano. And even if I could, I wouldn t go on TV if you paid me
a million dollars! (492 493). Here, Tan is conveying the fact that parents and children have
disagreements on what the child should do, and who the child is to become. For example, parents
may have an idea where they want their child to attend their college education. The child, on the
other hand, may want to go to a different college as suggested. Ultimately, it is the decision of the
child. We cannot live how others want us to live. It is the path of our own making that truly makes
us happy.
Some may see the mother trying to live her life through her daughter. She invests time trying to
make her daughter a prodigy because she was her last hope. The mother lost two children in China
and moves to a new country. Coming to America, she felt that immigrants have to prove that they
are as talented as or more talented than Americans. This belief is supposed to be the basis for the
determination, that the mother has, for Jing mei to become a prodigy.
The mother in the story tries everything in her power to make Jing mei famous in some way. Yet
Jing mei was content to being herself.

Personal Branding Essay
The Future of Personal Branding
Last November, I wrote a blog on the rise of the personal brand as the next great disconnect in
online marketing. I named four reasons why personal brands would become more important in the
near future. But I see a fifth reason why how a person brands themselves will be an important part
of the future.
Recently, Mark Zuckerburg and Elon Musk made their opposing opinions about the rise of
artificial intelligence (AI) known all over social media. It is the rise of AI that is the fifth
determinate in the rise of the importance of the personal brand. I am not going to be a doomsday
prophet and say AI will enslave humanity within the next 50 years if we do not harness it. But I
am going to predict that AI, if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is that we are still able to communicate with one another without the aid of devices. Your
personal brand is what you will always be able to communicate to people.nless we learn to harness
technology to communicate with one another, rather than to rely on technology, we will always
have personal branding.
By that, I mean when branding yourself don t lose a sense of your humanity. Unless we learn to
harness technology to communicate with one another, rather than to rely on technology, personal
branding will become a lost art. Don t become a holographic or tomographic image of your true self.
Time
When it comes to the argument between Mark Zuckerburg and Elon Musk, it is a generational
argument. I believe the differences in their reasoning is best understood by understanding the
differences in their use of technology.
Zuckerburg built a social media empire and ammassed billions of dollars by getting people to waste
their time. Yes, you heard me. He creates ways for you to lose all sense of time and reality, so you
spend hours on Facebook.
If you don t believe me, I just finished listening to someone watch videos on Facebook for almost
an hour. They watched one, and then right after that one stopped another one started. This
phenomena of causing people to lose all sense of time is the cornerstone of what makes Facebook
successful.

Conical Hat Definition
The thoughts about ceramic shape s history gave me a ground to be able to create the Conical
Hat series works, and the investigation of conical hat provides the depth of my work. However,
it still has lots of space for my personal concepts and understandings in this series of work.
According to those studies on object and shapes, my central idea can be concluded into just one
word which is container . I view the Conical Hat series are containers. Then, what is the container?
Container is a Middle English word. It comes from contain with er. It is a noun which means
anything that contains or can contain according to The Macquarie Dictionary. In The Shorter
Oxford English Dictionary, container appears as a word under the explanation of the... Show more

Beyond to describe different kinds of containers, the act to be a container can mean something
else and worth to think about it. Being a container can be seen as taking the role of protection,
storage or transportation. Different container can have different roles. It gives container a
character that can be classified. Besides, from the other side of this idea, after a container been
found, the act afterwards also be assigned. It is like when you found a jar, what you put in it will
give the jar its value. Or like, you give different values to the same jar than other people did to it.
According to the analysis of container, there are two levels of how my Conical Hat series links to
the concept of the container. First, conical hat is a kind of container. Second, conical hat is a
container of emotion. Conical hat is the container is the direct connection. From geometric sense,
conical hat is a hollow cone shape, which enables it could contain something in it. The object,
which has ability to hold things, can be called container, which is not related to it should or should

Design And Design Of Design History
Design plays a significant role in people lives. Design contains a range of areas such as:
architecture, landscape, fashion and graphic etc. Judging from the large number of exhibition,
museum and modern building appears in recent year that people seems to put more emphasis on
their visual artistic effect and design. Margolin (1992, P105) said, The importance of design
history has also been increasingly recognized by design professionals . This means design
history is necessary for contemporary designers to study early and use the knowledge to their
works. Understanding design history may help designers cultivate the development of actual
methods and the ideas may help them to deal with the issues from design (Meirelles isable, 2013).
Design history is a process of continuous evolution. Contemporary designers get new and creativity
ideas based on the historical link between present and past. They create their own design not only
through the reference of history but also according to the design principles and technical research

I heard you walking down the stairs. My heart was pounding out of my chest. You then slowly

stale cigarettes and booze. I knew I could survive the things you would do to me, I just didn t

Enzymes in Industry
Enzymes are described as chemical a catalyst that is they speed up the rate of reaction.
Enzymes have enormous potential in the commercial world. They are cheap to use in industry and
they do not need high temperatures to work. They work at neutral PH and normal atmospheric
pressure. This reduces the costs of fuel in industry and are energy saving. Also, enzymes can be
reused. This means that they are needed in relatively small amounts in comparison with Inorganic
catalysts. Once a suitable enzyme has been found, it is made on a larger scale and purified before
use. Enzymes are specific in their action. They only react with one substrate to produce a specific

Brewing: Beer brewing essentially involves the production of alcohol by the action of yeasts on
plant materials such as barley, maize, sorghum, hops and rice. The yeast cells are capable of
converting simple sugars into alcohol and carbon dioxide. However, most of the sugar present in
plant materials is in the form of complex polysaccharides such as starch and cannot be readily
utilised. Traditionally these nutrients are released by the process of malting whereby barley is
allowed to partly germinate during which endogenous enzymes are released which degrade
starch and protein to simple sugars and amino acids which can be utilised by the yeast cells. The
malting process is a relatively expensive way of manufacturing enzymes and is not always easy
to control. Industrial enzymes such as amylases, glucanases and proteases can be added to
unmalted barley resulting in the same simple sugars and amino acids that malting would liberate
but in a more controlled fashion. Enzymes also play an important role as filtration improvers.
Slow filtration of the mash or final beer often results from the presence of viscous
polysaccharides. Amyloglucosidase can be used to break down sugars to produce low calorie beer.
Detergents: Enzymes have been used in the detergent industry since

Betsy Ross Speech
Even though Betsy Ross is best known for creating and sewing the American flag, this has never
been officially proven. However, there is a great amount of evidence that she was very
influential in the making of the flag. These words by her say it all, Our hearts aching, our
prayers praying, our flags waving, never forget. 1 Elizabeth Griscom, also known as Betsy Ross
was born on January 1, 1752 in Philadelphia to her loving parents Rebecca and Samuel Griscom.
She was the eighth child out of seventeen.2 The same year she was born was the year the Liberty
Bell arrived in Philadelphia. Her father had the honor to assist in building the tower that
surrounded the bell where it was placed. Her parents were part of the Quaker religion, also
known as the Society of Friends, which left Betsy living differently than the colonist. With the
determined Quaker religion, she was not allowed to attend plays or read storybooks because it
promoted a world of fantasy rather than the story of the Bible. The Quakers also forbid music
within their culture because it provided no movement to the people and developed corrupt
thoughts within an individual.3 During this time period many families were fairly large, but a
majority of the children often died from diseases at a very young age. In Betsy s family only nine
of the children survived to be adults. Every Sunday and Thursday the Quakers would attend a
church service that lasted two hours long. The men and women sat facing each other, while

Analysis Of George Bergeron s The Novel
Charlie Kaufman s upcoming adaptation Harrison Bergeron takes a different approach to the
original short story. In the Vonnegut s story the year is 2081 and the world is finally equal or at
least considered to be that way. Everyone wears handicaps to suppress whatever can give them an
advantage, such as headpieces that stop a person from using their brain, weights to diminish
strength, and masks to hide beauty. The short story looks at the lives of Hazel and George
Bergeron living during this new era. They have a son named Harrison, but he was taken away
before the events of the story. Largely, Vonnegut s story presents itself as a satire to communism;
however Kaufman creates a darker much different perspective. During an early screening of
Kaufman s adaptation the viewer only gets a glimpse of the beginning of the film. Kaufman begins
the narrativeusing the same first line of the short story, the year was 2081 and the world was
finally equal (Vonnegut 7). Yet, there is a noticeable dramatic difference, the narration is told
through George s perspective. The choice is interesting because upon learning this fact the
narration becomes bias. George s narration seems bitter and clearly the system he lives in is not
one that he supports. Still, the perspective is interesting because there is a lot of static during the
narrated moments, presumably from George s handicap. A smart choice as it allows the reader to
understand what the handicap is like through George s eyes. At

Essay about The Sociological Framework of Harriet Martineau
The Sociological Framework of Harriet Martineau
Over the past twenty years, sociology has gone through a process of self evaluation, as field
researchers and observers express a wariness about the empty universalism of speculative systems
and look for ways in which to secure empirical foundations that give way to meaningful application
in a pluralistic, postmodern world. The survival of sociology as a critical theoretical discipline is a
concern expressed by many, such as contemporary social analyst George Ritzer, who are forging
new paths of application that represent a paradigm shift in this classical social legacy. In the
framework of classical sociological theory, numerous sources, including Ritzer, investigate this

By referring to works on classical sociological theory and other sources, one can only arrive at the
conclusion that Martineau provided a conceptual framework capable of providing an integrating
paradigm for the entire field of social psychological cultural relations upon which many modern
social theorists have been able to put forth theories that are attuned to postmodern realities, as well.
(Hutcheon 2 3). In the seminal work, Studies in History and Philosophy of Science, authors note the
birth of meaningful social science concurrent with Martineau s groundbreaking social research, as
they explore her attempts to move away from subjective authorship in order to devise objective
methods for the observation and representation of the social state (Cooper Murphy, p. 122).
Martineau, and her contemporaries such as George Ritzer, clearly have found the means to do this
through the interactionist approach.
As method researchers observe, for Martineau, and her contemporary Ritzer, aesthetic
considerations are as key to their method as much as scientific observation and representation.
Critics have considered both Society in America, Martineau s most widely known work which
attacks the reality/rhetoric issues confronting methodological strategy and ethnocentrism, and her
foundational treatise on sociological theory in data collection, How to Observe Morals and
Manners. These works

The Buddha, The Dharma, And The Sangha
Starting out in the Indian subcontinent, Buddhism grew to be a dominant religion that spread
throughout Asia. Buddhism is rooted in the three elements known as the Three Jewels : the
Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha. Through these elements, followers practice meditation and
self control in order to reach the state of enlightenment, or nirvana. The religion was pioneered by
The Buddha, whose last reincarnation was named Siddhartha in Nepal around 600 B.C.E. He was a
human who transcended to a state of enlightenment, understanding and practicing the three
elements of Buddhism. Unlike the main figure in many other world religions, Buddha did not deem
himself God or a prophet, but just a regular man who learned the teachings of nonviolence, inner
peace, and balance. Siddhartha was born as a prince and lived a lavish life growing up. However he
eventually realized that his life would not be fulfilled by material belongings, and abdicated his
position. Siddhartha went on to study meditation and yoga, eventually reaching enlightenment. The
pervasiveness and inevitability of suffering in human life was a main topic contemplated by
Buddha throughout his life. The sources of suffering are key in the path to enlightenment, and
Buddha realized this in his quest to enlightenment as well. These topics, among other core teachings
of Buddhism, are substantiated and outlined by the experiences of the last Buddha.

Good vs Bad in a tale of two cities Essay
Good vs. Bad In the novel, A Tale of Two Cities Charles Dickens opens with an anaphora, about
how the world is throughout the novel. A reoccurring theme throughout this story is the battle
between good and evil. Most of the novel is about the struggles each force has and how most of
the time good triumphs over evil. In A Tale of Two Cities
, the triumph of love, the death of the
Marquis, and the contrast between Sydney Carton and Charles Darnay shows how good triumphed
over evil.
Throughout the novel, the power of love triumphed over evil. When Miss Pross fights Madame
Defarge to protect Lucie it shows Miss Pross s love towards Lucie. Miss Pross is like a mother to

Plus he does not want to share his wealth with anyone just like when a poor woman asks to have
a little money to buy her husband a head stone he just passes her like it is nothing. He shows no
regard for human life and that is why he needs to die. He rides his carriage through the streets
fast so he can see the peasants run and avoid being hit, and because he was doing this he ran over
a child. He acted like the child s life meant nothing and threw the father a few coins and kept
going. The cruelty and evil he delivered would die with him, and for the good of the people in
the town his death was an example how good triumphed over evil. Lastly, good did triumph over
evil in Sydney Carton. Sydney Carton is a drunk who hates Darnay because if Carton was not a
drunk he would have everything Darnay has, like the love of Lucie Manette. Carton is seen as
the darkness because of the disparity he has and how low he has fallen. Whereas Darnay is seen as
light or the good guy due to how his life is going. In the end when Sydney gives up his life for
Darnay it shows how Sydney is transferring from being sad and dark. His selfless act proved that
the bad Sydney Carton has saved Darnay and kept Lucie, Cartons love, happy.
The triumph of love, the death of Madame Defarege, and the triumph of Charles Darnay in trial

Veterinary Science Application Essay Sample
The experience that initially sparked my interest towards veterinary medicine was when I attended
Boiler Vet Camp at Purdue University during high school. Prior to camp, I thought veterinarians
either worked on livestock or in small animal clinics. I was then exposed to the wide variety of
veterinary career options in shelter medicine, research, and public health. I was also introduced to
the challenges of getting into veterinary school. Being surrounded by people who shared the same
interests as I did, motivated me to be more involved during college to see what all the profession
offers. My Haiti study abroad trip during the 2015 2016 school year, narrowed my interests within
the veterinary profession to educationand public health. When a Haitian student asked me about
signs of illness in goats, I learned that not everyone has ease of access to veterinary medicine. I took
this opportunity to teach him about proper management skills that can lead to healthier goats,
people, and an improved environment. This triangle is the core for the One Health initiative. As a
veterinarian, I want to be a part of One Health by using my knowledge and love for... Show more

Serving people begins with community development. In Haiti, I understood what it meant to be a
part of a community when we came together as Purdue students and Haitian students to build
trenches for better plant irrigation. It did not matter if we were different nationalities, we were able
to work together to achieve a common goal. Within One Health, community is defined by
physicians, veterinarians, and other scientific environmental professionals coming together to
improve the health of people, animals, and the environment. I am confident that I can offer the
profession leadership skills and a desire to be involved in in my community so that I can

The Use Of Steam As A Thing Of The Past And Many Schools...
Next I asked, The acronym STEM is quickly becoming a thing of the past and many schools,
including William Henry, are adopting and transitioning to STEAM focused curriculums and
programs. How is STEAM being used at William Henry? Giddens responded, The A stands for
arts, and it being integrated into the school program. He further stated, For a time, arts were for
gifted students only. Now, all students have an opportunity to have some part of their school
experience geared to some form of the arts. Giddens was also pleased to inform us that William
Henry was recently recognized as a Superstars in Educationschool for its arts programs.
Roblen (2016) states the acronym STEM shorthand for science, technology, engineering, and
mathematics has quickly taken hold in education policy circles, but some experts in the arts
community and beyond suggest it may be missing another initial toward making the combination
more powerful. The idea? Move from STEM to STEAM, with an A for the arts. Although it seems a
stretch to imagine STEM will be replaced in education parlance, momentum appears to be mounting
to explore ways that the intersection of the arts with the STEM fields can enhance student
engagement and learning, and even help unlock creative thinking and innovation.
One advocate of the STEM to STEAM push is Harvey Seifter, the director of the Art of Science
Learning, a project financed by an NSF grant that organized three conferences last spring in

Since the opening of China s doors to world trade in the late 90 s, it has become an emerging super
power.
Hence, China may be a threat to India s current competitive position in the cashew nut production
because it is also capable to support cashew processing with its abundance of human resources, low
wage rates, and possible training in the manual dexterity required in the premium cashew nut
production. China is currently engaging in new markets and providing cheap manual labor to other
manufacturing. With this, China can see that the increasing profitable cashew nut industry and

Moreover, the current formulation of the European Union (EU) provides that its members eliminate
trade barriers for imports and exports between each other may be a possible threat to India s United
Kingdom market. Since the UK can virtually import anything from its neighboring countries
without any cost, it might affect the demand of cashew nuts the Europeans may divert their
attention from cashew nuts to other products popular in its neighboring countries. India s
competitiveness could also be threatened by the increased Research and Development improvement
that countries worldwide are engaging in nowadays.

A Narrative Essay About A Place Shimla
The most matchless place to be, is Sirmaur, Shimla. The moving slopes, clean fresh air, and

My home resided in the country. A cow field was my lawn, and I would play find the stowaway

our backpack down until the minute the pinkish, yellow sun was setting, my friends and I were

Why have Starbucks customer satisfaction scores declined? Has the company s service declined,
or is it simply measuring satisfaction the wrong way? Overall, Starbucks customer satisfaction
scores began to decline due to their steps of service and customer centric service in the stores.
Starbucks differentiated itself by providing more beverage choices and allowing the customers to
customize their drinks. However, this worked against them because they were in heavily dense
areas that contributed to longer wait time. Additionally, that led Starbucks customers to believe the
coffee chain was focus on making money and building more stores not customer satisfaction. A
poll of the customers improvements to service, particularly speed of service, was most mentioned.
How Does the Starbucks of 2002 differ from the Starbucks of 1992? In 1992 the company had
$100,000 in savings and The coffee brand was successful, but still relatively small. After going

Propaganda Poster Analysis
The propaganda poster Are You? by Lori Song explicitly uncovers the reality and future of the
comfort women controversy between Korea and Japan. A sensitive part of both countries history,
comfort women were Korean females who were sent to Japanese armies as sex slaves during
WWII, a time when Korea was colonized by Japan. In 2015, the two countries settled an agreement
that was considered the final talk on the issue. As part of the settlement, Japan gave $8.3 million as
reparation and Koreaagreed to work on removing the comfort woman statue in front of the Japanese

In the poster, a hand is covering the mouth of the comfort woman statue. Suppressing the comfort
women voices from coming out to the world, the hand could represent the Japanese and Korean
governments. The hand could also symbolize those turning a blind eye to the victims, discouraging
the survivors from speaking up about their experiences against a careless society. Not specifying the
owner of the hand implies how whether the audience is the aforementioned or the later is of minor
importance. The two are essentially equal to the comfort women in how they both neglect a
horrendous part of their history and cause society to forget about the victims and their sufferings.
To express the comfort women s disappointment towards the ignorant people and the governments,
the author structures the red title vertically, drawing an image of bloody tears. The resentful title
haunts the audience with the torturous memories the comfort women had to burden in spite of an
ignorant society. Being standardized to a brutal subject along with the oppressive governments, the
viewers are abashed by and come to feel responsible for the reality their ignorance have

The Abuse And Exploitation Of Youth
Journal Critique
The abuse and exploitation of youth, is not, in any way, a new concept in the world that we live in,
however it is extremely misrepresented. Authors, Karen Countryman Roswurm, assistant professor
and director of the Center for Combating Human Trafficking, and Brien Bolin, professor and
director of the School of Social Work, are PhD holding alumni of Wichita State University and have
offered insight on the topic of human trafficking, ranging from its causation, misrepresentation and
its effect on youth. Human trafficking, which involves the recruitment, harboring, transportation,
provision, or obtaining of a person under the age of 18 for the purposes of a commercial sex act, is

523). Before determining whether a minor is guilty of a delinquent crime such as prostitution, or if
they themselves have been victimized, it is first necessary to define who the minors are
(Countryman Roswurm Bolin, 2014, p. 522). According to Countryman Roswurm and Bolin
(2014), there is an overlapping classification of a minor by only 1 year, some believing that it
defines an individual younger than the age of eighteen, others claiming that age nineteen is
technically a teen, therefore, also a minor (p. 524). Subsequently, Countryman Roswurm and Bolin
(2014) acknowledged the meanings of prostitution and sex trafficking as sexual relations that
include some form of monetary payment or barter and are characterized by promiscuity and/or
emotional apathy; sexual relations and a type of violence (including verbal, emotional, physical,
and sexual abuse) against children and youth which may include coerced or forced sexual acts in
exchange for, or the promise of, money, drugs, food, clothing, shelter, or other survival needs. It is
a transaction in which the body of a child and/or youth is treated as a commodity, respectively (p.
525). It is a social worker s duty to defend this sidelined population of minors, which can only be
done through understanding the individual involved in the act, rather than unreliable definitions

Film Analysis Of Chinatown By Roman Polanski
This week s movie is Chinatown by Roman Polanski. This movie in short follows this private
investigator J.J. Jake Gittes (Jack Nicholson) who is hired by the wife of the chief engineer of
the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. At first, the person who hires him is a facade to
the real wife of the chief engineer. The original intentional for hiring him was to find out if the
chief engineer was having an extramarital affairs with someone else; he was not. As time goes on,
the plot thickens with the chief engineer mysterious dying from a supposed suicide. Yet, undeterred
J.J took it upon himself with the help of the actual chief engineer wife Evelyn Mulwray (Faye
Dunaway) to find out who murder the chief engineer and other saddening things related to deceit,
corruption, and murder. The actions committed by J.J. are in some ways a heroic in one form and
in others the exact opposite where in turn it caused a fiasco of events. Some of the ways the
directors show this is through the dramatic terms of close up shots, pans, and crane shots.
Chinatown by Roman Polanski uses the dramatic elements of close up shots, pans, and crane shots
to show J.J. Jake Gittes as an antihero.
The element of close up shots has been used in this movie when uncovering the secret of Evelyn.
The specific scene that I m talking is about J.J. comforting Evelyn about her involvement with her
father, who was a business partner with her husband. However, the conversation turns into why she
is helping

  • 2. Leadership Styles As A Public Administrator Essay Introduction This paper will discuss various aspects of a public leader. First, it will develop a brief overview of two leaders and their leadership styles as a public administrator. Next, this paper will compare and contrast the leadership styles of these two leaders. Also, it will determine three leadership strengths and weaknesses of each of these leaders, as well as speculate on the effectiveness of each public leader in terms of each of their successes. Finally, this paper will suggest one key strength that could influence one s ability to be a public leader. Examples of Charismatic Leaders A fine example of a charismatic leader as a public administrator is Napoleon Bonaparte. As an officer in the French army, he was smart, aggressive and fearless, and inspired great loyalty in just about anyone he encountered. Additionally, his success was based on his instinctive knowledge of human behavior, the most prominent of which was his ability to show appreciation to those who helped him succeed through a rewards system. Furthermore, he realized it was imperative to win the trust of those he was not leading to bolster their support. An avid speaker, he would inform citizens in the country in which he was invading that he was not against them, but rather against their tyrannical leaders. Eventually, Bonaparte s ego got the best of him, and he lost the respect he had garnered over years, ending up exiled to the island of St. Helena (McManus, n.d., p. 2). Clearly, ... • 5. Analysis Of The Prologue By Anne Bradstreet Tierra Nick Professor Parker ENG 202 01 5 October 2017 The Prologue By Anne Bradstreet Anne Bradstreet s poem, The Prologue , is about the struggle of women in a Puritan Society. In the Puritan Society, women are held to a certain standard. Women were not able to speak their mind, openly show they were educated, or express themselves freely, because it was looked down on. The Prologue , is titled to mark the beginning of her work. In this poem, Bradstreet acknowledges her role as a woman in a Puritan society, but also makes a brave attempt to achieve freedom from the Puritan Society. Bradstreet is on a mission to prove to the Puritan society that women are worthy enough to do what men do. Bradstreet fights for feminism. Bradstreet begins her poem by acknowledging those superior to her: To sing of wars, of captains, and of kings Of cities founded, commonwealths begun For my mean pen are too superior things Or how they all, or each their dates have run Let poets and historians set these forth My obscure lines shall not so dim their worth (Bradstreet 1 6) In lines 1 6, she explains that she is aware of those who contributed to society, because they have accomplished great things, things that she cannot take away from them. She states she will not discuss them because her mean pen are too superior things (Bradstreet 3). Bradstreet uses too to reference her work as being also superior. She wishes to leave it to them to talk about history without criticizing their worth and the same should be done for her. She adds the word obscure (Bradstreet 6), to acknowledge her lines are hidden using a form of symbolism. Symbolizing that most women are hiding their truths. Her point goes into further detail in stanza 2. Bradstreet begins stanza 2, But when my wond ring eyes and envious heart/Great Bartas sugared lines do but read o er (Bradstreet 7 8). Bradstreet in some way degrades her poetry, just like the Puritan society would do. She talks about another poet Barta. When she reads his poems they seem so great and she envy s him. She also refers to Bartas work as sugared lines referring to his poetry as pleasurable to read. She uses Barta (a male figure), to further clarify how she will not challenge the ... Dr. Mengele used a lot of different experiments against the Jews and there are lasting effects/remnants from the experiments. During the first phase of experiments, pairs of twins and people with abnormalities through heritage were put on display for Dr. Mengele and were assigned to go through all conceived medical examinations. In Wilkie Collin s The Moonstone, three Hindoos are sent on a quest to recover the sacred Moonstone thieved from their holy temple by an Englishman. In England, they are stereotyped and become victims of racism. Although Franklin Blake, one of the protagonists of this story, appears attractive from afar, he is a little uglier up close. Mr. Blake is appealing overall but exhibits behaviors that are disagreeable, while the Hindoos fluctuate between appearing villainous and victimized. In astrology, the fifth zodiac sign, Leo, originates from this constellation. As a July 27 baby, I am a Leo. During my youth, while buried under blankets, I fervently read horoscopes and zodiac personality descriptions in magazines. On a similar note, many children struggle to decipher their own identity and luckily, exploring my zodiac sign tremendously helped me comprehend the inner workings of my mind. Learning about my zodiac sign was a remarkable comfort, it electrified me that I was the paradigm of a Leo. In between the words of astrologyblogs, the answers to the what and why for my own idiosyncrasies were revealed. Those revelations of a proud fiery zodiac sign manifest as my own characteristics. From my mannerisms to my physique, the Leo archetype illustrates who I am. Since the symbol for Leo is a mighty lion, boasting a voluminous mane is, of course, a stereotype of those born under this sign. One of my most distinguishable features is my silky, straight, waist length, black hair. Whether it s because of favorable genetics or astrological luck, I frequently receive compliments on my luscious locks. That is why there are so many who wonder which best, a rifle scope or a spotting scope. Perhaps it is here that you will find the answer. There are people who use both devices because they perform a different job. It is easier for many to use the spotting scope rather than binoculars when they want to see over a long distance and it also ensures that they are not possibly pointing their rifle at something they would not want to shoot. There are also those people who feel that if you have a good rifle scope, you do not need to carry more than absolutely necessary when you are out in the woods. They feel that their rifle scopes are just as accurate as a spotting scope and that when they see a target, it is easier to use their rifle and shoot at it rather than have to site it again. It all depends on how each individual feels about it. How are They Most Useful? A spotting scope is designed to be accurate while you are scanning the area for a potential target. I know angels in heaven are rejoicing because the kingdom of God has come to earth. How happy they must be for us all. He took out a gold coin from his vest pocket. God is fulfilling the promises He made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He is a Godwho provides for His chosen people and those brought into the fold. Do you see this gold coin? God could multiply this coin as He can multiply His blessings to you. Let us sing praises to His name and make a joyful noise unto the Lord. He retrieved a cornucopia behind the podium. The choir rose in song, accompanied with organ music and tambourine. Lawrence walked off the end of the stage and on the air, walking six feet above the floor. He stirred the assembly to utter amazement. Walking out above their heads, he placed the coin in the basket and cradled the basket in his arms. Leaning it over, a flow of coins fell into the laps of the people sitting below him. The coin multiplied before their eyes and continued to shower down on the assembly who became ecstatic at trying to catch coins. • 13. The Baroque Era Of Music Essay The Baroque chamber orchestra, a type of ensemble today that can vary greatly from group to group, is involved in a type of performance many musicians remain confused about. For a modern musician, the confusion surrounding the Baroque style stems from a notion that spending time learning a style of instrument that is no longer commonplace is something that is not worthwhile or is even detrimental to a modern instrumental career. Much of this stems from the idea that the romantic era of musicis the most valid and academic form of music studied and performed. This has to do with the intense exposure that classically trained musicians are given in the field of romantic and modern era music. Today it is very common for violinists to insist on playing the music of Bach, like the 6 sonatas and partitas, romantically without consideration of the performance practices in the time the music was written. The avoidance of authentic baroque performance being included in the modern interpretation stems from the natural aversion modern players have to the baroque sound. What many people consider to be a baroque sound is one that sounds unpolished and underdeveloped, most likely due to the lack of vibrato and varying bow and articulation techniques from today s playing. When looking at baroque music that is commonly played on modern instruments, there is no better example than the music of J.S. Bach. In the case of the 6 Sonatas and Partitas, today and especially in the middle to late ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, in an ever changing era, a liberal arts education is nothing more than an example of how little people enjoy change. The core curriculum of a liberal artseducation, which includes history, math, art, science, English, literature, and a variety of social sciences, needs to be expanded to encompass the subjects people encounter every day in the 21st century. Natural sciences entail subjects such as biology, chemistry, and physics, whereas formal sciences include mathematics. Although the subjects which teach computer skills, business skills, and world awareness are offered at most universities, they are not required classes, even though they are quickly becoming necessary skills in the world. The liberal arts standard curriculum needs to be adjusted to overcome the gap which exists between what students are expected to know and understand and what they are actually taught. The goal of a liberal arts education is to create a well rounded, educated individual. Expanding and adjusting a liberal arts education to meet the requirements of an ever changing society does in no way hinder this goal. In all actuality, expanding a liberal arts education to require new subjects would simply create more well rounded individuals. Furthermore, changing the liberal arts curriculum is nothing new. The original curriculum developed by the Greeks only included grammar, rhetoric, and logic and was soon expanded during the medieval times to include four new topics (Haidar). Changing the curriculum becomes necessary when new skill sets are required in society. The Natives feel that they should have some say about what decisions are going to be made concerning the area since they have been in the Klamath are longer than any other group. As little as the Native Americans were discussed, the needs of the commercial fisherman were even less than them. I don t think more than one person out of all the guest lecturers and people we heard from on our class trip had discussed any of the feelings of the fisherman. I m not quite certain which guest lecturer talked about their needs, but they did mention that the commercial fisherman felt that they had an economic right to fish the waters of the Klamath. Much like the Natives, fishing these waters is a way of life for these fisherman and they felt as if it was being taken away from them. • 23. Two Kinds by Amy Tan Essay In the short story, Two Kinds by Amy Tan, a Chinese mother and daughter are at odds with each other. The mother pushes her daughter to become a prodigy, while the daughter (like most children with immigrant parents) seeks to find herself in a world that demands her Americanization. This is the theme of the story, conflicting values. In a society that values individuality, the daughter sought to be an individual, while her mother demanded she do what was suggested. This is a conflict within itself. The daughter must deal with an internal and external conflict. Internally, she struggles to find herself. Externally, she struggles with the burden of failing to meet her mother s expectations. Being a first generation Asian American,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And even if I could, I wouldn t go on TV if you paid me a million dollars! (492 493). Here, Tan is conveying the fact that parents and children have disagreements on what the child should do, and who the child is to become. For example, parents may have an idea where they want their child to attend their college education. The child, on the other hand, may want to go to a different college as suggested. Ultimately, it is the decision of the child. We cannot live how others want us to live. It is the path of our own making that truly makes us happy. Some may see the mother trying to live her life through her daughter. She invests time trying to make her daughter a prodigy because she was her last hope. The mother lost two children in China and moves to a new country. Coming to America, she felt that immigrants have to prove that they are as talented as or more talented than Americans. This belief is supposed to be the basis for the determination, that the mother has, for Jing mei to become a prodigy. I named four reasons why personal brands would become more important in the near future. But I see a fifth reason why how a person brands themselves will be an important part of the future. Recently, Mark Zuckerburg and Elon Musk made their opposing opinions about the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) known all over social media. It is the rise of AI that is the fifth determinate in the rise of the importance of the personal brand. Don t become a holographic or tomographic image of your true self. Time When it comes to the argument between Mark Zuckerburg and Elon Musk, it is a generational argument. Brewing: Beer brewing essentially involves the production of alcohol by the action of yeasts on plant materials such as barley, maize, sorghum, hops and rice. The yeast cells are capable of converting simple sugars into alcohol and carbon dioxide. However, most of the sugar present in plant materials is in the form of complex polysaccharides such as starch and cannot be readily utilised. Traditionally these nutrients are released by the process of malting whereby barley is allowed to partly germinate during which endogenous enzymes are released which degrade starch and protein to simple sugars and amino acids which can be utilised by the yeast cells. The malting process is a relatively expensive way of manufacturing enzymes and is not always easy to control. Industrial enzymes such as amylases, glucanases and proteases can be added to unmalted barley resulting in the same simple sugars and amino acids that malting would liberate but in a more controlled fashion. She was the eighth child out of seventeen.2 The same year she was born was the year the Liberty Bell arrived in Philadelphia. Her father had the honor to assist in building the tower that surrounded the bell where it was placed. Her parents were part of the Quaker religion, also known as the Society of Friends, which left Betsy living differently than the colonist. The short story looks at the lives of Hazel and George Bergeron living during this new era. They have a son named Harrison, but he was taken away before the events of the story. Largely, Vonnegut s story presents itself as a satire to communism; however Kaufman creates a darker much different perspective. During an early screening of Kaufman s adaptation the viewer only gets a glimpse of the beginning of the film. Kaufman begins the narrativeusing the same first line of the short story, the year was 2081 and the world was finally equal (Vonnegut 7). Yet, there is a noticeable dramatic difference, the narration is told through George s perspective. The choice is interesting because upon learning this fact the narration becomes bias. George s narration seems bitter and clearly the system he lives in is not one that he supports. In the seminal work, Studies in History and Philosophy of Science, authors note the birth of meaningful social science concurrent with Martineau s groundbreaking social research, as they explore her attempts to move away from subjective authorship in order to devise objective methods for the observation and representation of the social state (Cooper Murphy, p. 122). Martineau, and her contemporaries such as George Ritzer, clearly have found the means to do this through the interactionist approach. As method researchers observe, for Martineau, and her contemporary Ritzer, aesthetic considerations are as key to their method as much as scientific observation and representation. Critics have considered both Society in America, Martineau s most widely known work which attacks the reality/rhetoric issues confronting methodological strategy and ethnocentrism, and her foundational treatise on sociological theory in data collection, How to Observe Morals and Manners. Buddhism is rooted in the three elements known as the Three Jewels : the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha.
