Comparing The Great Ancient Figures Of Ancient China And Rome
PowerPoint Script
Introduction
Good morning/ afternoon fellow Year Ten students, today I am presenting a presentation on why
Ancient History is a great riveting subject to do in your senior years of education. This will be
done through the comparison of two great ancient figures of ancient China and Rome. You will
learn how the history of the great s impact the modern society we see today, as Theodore
Roosevelt once said the more you know about the past, the better prepared you are for the future .

Spartacus
The first ancient figure I will be talking about hails from Ancient Rome and was one of the great
Gladiators of all times. This figure was a Thracian gladiator, little is known about his early life
before he became a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Next slide) Rome did not take Spartacus and his slave rebellion seriously, therefore fit line
troops were not sent out to fight the rebellion of gladiators and slaves. The Roman armies of four
forces that were sent out were outmanoeuvred and easily defeated. Spartacus won another three
fights before a new roman military force under the control Marcus Crassus was sent to deal with
the rebellious slave army. Eventually after long pursuits of battles, Spartacus was killed near the
headwaters of the Siler River in southern Italy, but his body was never found. Crassus then
crucified 6,000 rebellious slaves as a warning to others.
Qin Shi Huang
The next figure I will be introducing is a tyrant ruler from the China Dynasty. His father was the
king of the Qin state, and at the age of thirteen his father passed away. He was well educated and
at the age of 22, he took full control of his title as king. He had the ambition of wanting to master
all the other six Chinese states. This made him the leader of all of china, and eventually he
declared himself emperor. His real name was King Zeng.
(Ask question to audience) Does anyone know this Emperor? (Next slide)
His changed and most commonly used name is Qin Shi Huang; this is literally translated into the
phrase First emperor . At the age of 22, Huang recognised his ambition and built the first feudal and
centralized empire in Chinese

The Diet, The South Beach Diet
Introduction: We live in a society that is crazed in following latest diets whether it be the
Mediterranean diet, the Atkins diet, the South Beach diet etc. Each day there are new discoveries
displayed throughout the media regarding diets and lifestyles, yet for a society so obsessed in the
healthiest trend our statistics tend to show the flying numbers at which the population is diagnosed
with chronic diseases related to nutritional factors. Thus a sound nutritionis more essential than
ever. In the United States at least 4 of the 10 leading causes of are directly linked to what we eat.
Majority if not all of the chronic diseases have a nutritional/lifestyle component that if caught in
time can be reversed. Therefore the focus of the meal plan project was to gain an understanding
of one s own personal nutritional intake by measuring calories consumed throughout the course
of one week. In doing so the individual is made aware of any nutritional deficiencies or food
excesses by the choices made when selecting food. The individual is able to fully grasp their
individual needs by analyzing the data collected over their consumption of essential nutrients such
as carbohydrates, lipids, water and proteins. In the midst of attending class, work and club
schedules, as well as inadequate sleep I hypothesize that my overall nutrition will look be a
downward spiral with insufficient calories and deficiencies in minerals.

Case Study Operation Anaconda
Operation Anaconda Case Study When it comes to succeeding at anything, it is important to plan,
prepare, and rehears the outcome. In a combat zone, this becomes even more important because
lives and the success of the mission depend on it. This was not the case however, during a fight
called Operation Anaconda. The purpose of this paper is to point out what went wrong with the
lack of planning, coordination, rehearsal, and preparation between Air and ground communications,
and how it proved to be critical during Operation Anaconda. The ending results were a delayed
execution and several friendly casualties. In February 2002, Special Forces intelligence agents
along with Advanced Force Operations (AFO), and the Central Intelligence Agency(CIA), were
starting to make a connection between an increase presence of high value targets (HVT), the
Taliban, and Al Qaeda fighters in an area called Shahi Kot Valley (Neville, 2005). Shahi Kot is
located in Afghanistan, just southeast of a town called Zormat. A plan was devised to eliminate the
enemy threat in that area. Major Franklin L. Hagenbeck was to command the mission called
Operation Anaconda. This operation was the first large scale battle in the United States War in
Afghanistan since the Battle of Tora Bora (Call, 2007, p. 57 86). Operation Anaconda was also
unique in the fact that it would involve a great number of Afghan militia, U.S. and coalition Special
Operations, and conventional forces (U.S. Army, n.d.),

Columbine Shooting Theories
On April 20, 1999, there was a school shooting at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado.
The Columbine shooting was once known as the largest high school massacre in US history. This
unfortunate event affected the way American schools now take precautions and impacted society.
The columbine shooters were two students, Eric Harris, 18, and Dylan Klebold, 17. There are
many theories as to why they did their actions, but none of them have been proven correct. One
theory is that both Dylan and Eric were influenced by bullies. They believed that since they only
chose jocks, christians, and minorities, it meant something. Another theory is that they were apart
of a group called the Trenchcoat Mafia. Lastly, many believed that Eric and Dylan

Annotated Bibliography on Ghandi Social Justice and Religion Attenborough, Richard, director.
Gandhi. Columbia Pictures, 1982. Gandhi is a biopic produced by Richard Attenborough
whose lifelong dream was to make the story of the national independence leader s life into a
movie. The movie starts with Mohandas K. Gandhi, played by actor Ben Kingsley, rejecting all
material possessions in pursuit of India s independence. The storyline plays out to highlight
important aspect of Gandhi s life and ends with his assassination, where he utters the famous
lines Oh god. Critics claim the movie is over exaggerated, however Attenborough does a fine job
of bringing a visual of Gandhi s life into Western eyes. In addition, what could be a bad thing
ends up being a good thing for the layman who watches this movie. Attenborough oversimplifies
Gandhi s perspectives and ideas on social justice and religion, which leads to a very simple
explanation of Gandhi s philosophy. Friedman, Joseph S. (2008) Mahatma Gandhi s Vision for the

`` Speak, By The Maya Angelou
An Untold story There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you. said by one of
America s most controversial and most banned writer, the late Maya Angelou. This statement also
aligns to a 1999 contemporary classic novel, Speak, where a young freshman, Melinda Sordino,
faces isolation and depression to an event that occurred over the summer, one that only she knows
about. In the novel, Melinda hangs up a poster of Maya Angelou in her make shift janitor s closet

Too bad she can t hear it. (Anderson 28). Melinda often backs down under pressure whenever she
is confronted by teachers or students, getting to the point where it gets her in trouble or gets

shoot me with your words, / you may cut me with your eyes, / you may kill me with your
hatefulness, / but still, like air, I rise. (Still I Rise). Angelou has confidence regardless of what
others think, say, or do, She keeps rising and standing up to her problems, unlike Melinda.
Melinda could learn to have more confidence, more hope and faith. She could learn from
Angelou that though people try to put her down, she still arises. And so should she. Lonely is
not being alone, but the feeling that no one cares. Melinda believes she is alone and needs a

Oil Prices And Stock Market Essay
INTRODUCTION
In this empirical project I will try to explain the relationship between the oil prices, gold prices
and stock market in the United State using yearly time series data. Since the gold and oil prices
are raising their influence on stock market is also increasing and we will see how fluctuations in
oil prices and gold prices impact the stock market in the United States. So here oil prices and gold
prices will be our explanatory variable and stock market index will be our explained variable. In this
study we will use multiple regression analysis to explain the relationship.
The data is collected from years 1961 to 2010 so the sample size is 50. The explanatory variable

Another reason is due to depreciation of the US dollar as it depreciates people want to spend
more in gold to hedge against inflation so the prices of gold is increasing. The cost of country s
economy is determined by oil prices so oil plays a vital role in the economy of the US. Generally
high oil prices badly impacts the performance of the stock market and high oil prices means that
people may considered to invest more in stock market.
Hamilton (1993), Gisser and Goodwin (1988), and Daniel (1997) have shown that there is a
strong relationship between the oil prices and stock markets. Several further have been done by
Jones and Kaul (1996), Sadorsky (1999) and Faff and Brailsford (1999) in order to explain this
relationship. Sadorsky (2003) used the vector correction model to verify the relationship between
the oil and stock prices. Abken (1980) have shown that inflation influences the gold prices and
proved that they have a positive correlation where as Mahdavi and Zhou (1997) found out that
gold is no longer inflation protective asset. So there are several studies have been already done in
this field which has helped us to better understand the relationship between the gold, oil and the

Community Immersion Analysis On Community
Introduction
The definition of Community, Netting, Kettner, McMurty and Thomas (2012) stated by Warren
(1978) Community is the combination of social units and systems that perform the major social
functions relevant to meeting people s needs on a local level. (p.133). Understanding communities
is important to social workers as they have, Netting et al (2012) to know individuals functions
within larger systems, understanding of its history and that communities constantly change (p.
168). A community has many parts that make it work together; when one part is not working well,
it affects the entire system. Social Workers are able to analyze, interpret data and work with
community groups and leaders to find solutions to improve the workings of that community to its
full potential.
This community immersion analysis will focus on its community s social agencies, diversity and
cultural richness. Systems Theory applies to this area as the macro system of this community s
main downtown street is filled with stores, restaurants, cultural establishments where locals as well
as tourist convene (Netting, 2012) that carries out production as well as school and religious sites
work to socialize community members. (P.140)
Community Demographics Venturas downtown area is in the west area direction of Ventura

Significance Of Nick Carraway In The Great Gatsby
In the world of the novel The Great Gatsby, there are plenty of meaningful and impacting
characters throughout. Some have big roles and some have little, but none of them reach up to
the standards of the character Nick Carraway. Nick is in fact the foundation of this novel as he is
labeled as the narrator, he helps Gatsby reunite with his true love and he s the only one who knows
the whole true story of what goes on. Though this title of this novel is The Great Gatsby, the
narrator is called Nick Carraway, a man who represents the story as a whole and is the foundation
to the story. Though he is not the main character, the man Gatsby, the man who gives his name to
this book. (Fitzgerald Pg. 6). There is a sole reason why the title is what

Suspense In The Film Rear Window
Hitchcock uses many techniques throughout the film Rear Window to convey suspense. The major
theme of the film regards Jefferies voyeurism. His intrigue in the everyday lives of his neighbours
is viewed as intrusive and morally wrong on principle. However, without this voyeuristic tendency
the crime committed by Thornwald would never have been solved. Thus, the audience is lead
through emotional turmoil in questioning whether it is wrong to invade someone s privacy, or just
and heroic to solve a crime. We see the climax of the film when Lisa and Stella venture out of
Jefferies apartmentto investigate the murder of Mrs Thornwald. This leads to a confrontation
between Thornwald and Jefferies. These scenes build suspense through the use of detachment, the
use of split screen , red herring plotdevices, lighting, music and diegetic sound.
In Hitchcock s Rear Window Jefferies apartment is the sole viewpoint to the outside world for the
audience. We rarely see anything that isn t from Jefferies immediate surroundings or directly from
his point of view. This gives Jefferies, and in turn the viewers, a detached sense of realism from the
world of the apartment complex opposite. This detachment is apparent to throughout the movie as
many characters state to Jefferies that what he s doing is morally wrong. However, the line of moral
and immoral conduct is pushed as Jefferies continues to watch his neighbours and ultimately
becomes directly involved in the plot which he had

Those with insecure attachments tend to have lower relationship satisfaction compared to those
who are securely attached. Those who have a secure attachment style provide a caregiving role,
their behaviors are responsive and sensitive, non controlling and show interest during interactions.
Secures are affectionate with touch, enjoy physical contact (intimate sexual) and are willing to ask
for support. Individuals with an insecure anxious attachment are more self focused and always
looking for approval and support from their partner regardless of low and high stress situations.
Anxious attachment individuals are also over caring and hyper vigilant. Lastly, individuals with an
avoidant attachment value independence and have low levels of self disclosure. Avoidant
individuals are less likely to use touch to express affection and are uncomfortable with intimate
sexual contact. In short, being aware of your attachment style and your partners can shed light on

What Role Did Discus Play In Ancient Sports

Discus, an ancient athletic game originating in the ancient Greek Olympics, was one of the first
games in the athletic competition. A throwing contest involving a weighted metal or stone disc,
known as a discus, comparable to the modern day frisbee, competitors competed to see who could
throw the disc the farthest. Representing one fifth of the pentathlon event, the discus throw was a
popular Olympic event. It was later incorporated into the modern Olympics at the time of their
conception in 1896 (Encyclopedia Brittanica 1). Discus is still practiced similarly to ancient times,

Economic and Political Strategies of China versus Japan...
China and Japan
From 1500 to 1800, China and Japan tried to politically and economically established their
countries in very different ways. Japan fought war after war for a century before they changed
their ways. China on the other hand slowly established a government and used education as a tool
to be politically and economically strong. Japan would later do the same.
China was one of the most politically and economically strong countries during 1500 1800. The
state was identified as family. It brought unity and integration. The political systemwas an

better government finances and used Confucianism as an ideology. They had more academies to
prepare people for the civil service exams, more bookstores, publishing flourished, and literacy

China used education and political growth to establish themselves. They grew slowly and were on

They would stop growing in the late 19th century due to lack of technology at that time.

Spirit Of Offense
Do you walk in the spirit of offense?
The truth is, all of us at one time or another, have either been offended or offended someone.
And the good news is, we all have the opportunity to SHIELD UP!
How Do I know if I have the spirit of offense?
Before we get into what it means to Shield Up, let s first identify if we have the spirit of offense.
Even though we are told in James 1:19 to be slow to take offense, we have seen relationships
destroyed and people leave their church family over the spirit of offense. (Block Quote)
Understand [this], my beloved brethren. Let every man be quick to hear [a ready listener], slow
to speak, slow to take offense and to get angry. ~ James 1:19 (AMPC)
So how can we tell if we walk in the spirit of offense? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Submission is meant for every believer. As Godexpects us to submit to Him, to each other, to our
spouses, employers, and our government!
Remind the believers to submit to the government and its officers. They should be obedient,
always ready to do what is good. ~ Titus 3:1(NLT)
The slippery slope here is that without submission, we can almost guarantee that we will walk in
the spirit of offense.
That s because to be discipled is to be mentored. To be mentored is to be held accountable.
However, you cannot be discipled without being teachable. You cannot be mentored without
yielding to submission. And you cannot receive accountability without humility.
In other words, when you walk in humility you will avoid walking in the spirit of offense!

The Realism Period Of The Novel The Tales Of Huckleberry...
With the rise of the Realism period brought in the notion of seeing and reading what is truly
happening in the world. This era was brought forth as a counter to the Romantic period of writing
which focused more on the imaginative. The writing belief of the Realism period involved showing
the truth while avoiding implausible, exotic, and supernatural elements that where seen in the era s
past. Often times this is used to show the ugliness of society specifically the middle class, who is
often viewed as ones trying to live above their means. During this era many prominent writers
found there calling ranging from Mark twain who wrote stories like The Tales of Huckleberry
Fin to Gustave Flaurbert who wrote stories like Madam Bovary . This story is Flaurbert s way of
showing his disdain in the rise of the middle class. With the belief that the middle class where
imitator s that wanted to live the lavish lifestyle of the upperclassman. In the story the reader is
introduced to three important characters in Elder Bovary, Heloise Bovary, and Emma Bovary.
These three women show Flaubert s disdain for the people of the lower and middle classes tried to
act as if they were apart of the upper classby any means possible. Elder Bovary is the mother to
one of the first main character named Charles Bovary. She is described as wanting to live

The Lottery Persuasive Analysis
Just because someone is standing up for what is right does not mean they will always be well
liked or they will fit in with everyone. If someone stands up for what is right and everyone else
disagrees with them there may be some serious consequences. In The Lottery by Shirley Jackson,
Tessie Hutchinson spoke against their tradition, nobody would listen to her but she still spoke
against it. She tried and tried, no matter how difficult it was, to get into the townspeople s mind
that they should not be doing what they are doing, that it is wrong. Some people are not as brave
as Tessie Hutchinson, Martin Niemoller, for example, had the chance to speak up against the
Nazi, he had the chance to speak for what is right, instead he kept silent in First they came . It is
hard standing up for what is right, especially when you do not know what the consequences are,

In detail, The Lottery is about standing up for what is right is not always the easiest path. For
example, Some places have already quit lotteries Mrs. Adams said. Another quote that goes
along with that is, Nothing but trouble in that, Old Man Warner said stoutly. Pack of young
fools. (paragraph 33 34). The reason why this relates to the text because this is the time that
Tessie Hutchinson could have stood up and told everyone that it is not right to have this lottery,
instead she kept quiet because she knew it was not going to be easy standing up to the whole
town and saying that what they are doing is not right. She could have stood up more than she
did, instead she chose to wait until it was her who won the lottery. Another example to support
the theme is, Tessie Hutchinson shouted to Mr. Summers, You didn t give him time enough to
take any paper he wanted. I saw you. It wasn t fair! (paragraph 45), another quote that goes along
with it is, Be a good sport Tessie, Mrs. Delacroix called, and Mrs. Graves said, All of us took the
same chance. (paragraph 46). The reason why these two pieces of evidence supports the theme,
standing up for what s right may not always be the easiest path, is by showing that Tessie does
stand up. Maybe she is not standing up for the fact that

Ozymandias
Percy and Mary Shelley were the power couple in the world of literature. (Mary Poovey). The
Shelley family was well known in Europe, not only for their affair, but for their poetry and
stories. Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein or A Modern Prometheus. While Percy Shelley
published multiple poems. Three of those poems that had a substantial impact on society are
Ozymandias, To a Skylark, and Ode to the West Wind. There s multiple messages in each of
these, however one message from each sticks out more than the rest. The three messages from
Ozymandias, To a Skylark, and Ode to the West Wind are that everyone fades from history, one
idea could spark a fire of curiosity, and that bad things are followed by good things. The first
message is from Ozymandias, and it is that everyone s name will eventually fade from history.
The poem is about a man who visits egypt and finds a sunken statue in the middle of the desert. It
says the name of an old king who tells people to fear his structures and his power. However, there
is no city and everything he built was consumed by the sand. Michael Henry Scrivener, author of
Radical Shelley: The Philosophical Anarchism and Utopian Thought of Percy Bysshe Shelley,
writes this about the poem, ...what one does in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This poem is about a man talking about what the winter wind does to nature versus what the
summer wind does to nature. Percy points out that, ...If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?
(70). This shows that even when bad things happen, there were always be good times to follow it.
About this poem, Thomas Jefferson Hogg, author of The Life of Percy Bysshe Shelley: Volume 2,
shows that, Percy was a strong beliver that fortune will always be close behind the misfortune in the
twisted lives of humankind. (Hogg). Clearly, this shows that Percy wanted the point to be shown

The Pros And Cons Of The Popcorn Failure
Reliability is defined as the ability of a system or component to perform its required functions
under stated conditions for a specified period of time. The operation of any electronic device
generates heat and with the increasing device density of the IC chips the amount of heat flux
generated by the integrated circuitchips has gone to a level of 100 200 W/(cm^2 ) [2]. Each time a
device is powered up, the individual components heat up and cool down. This heating and cooling
leads to thermal cycling of the electronic components which causes many problems, such as shear
deformation, due to the mismatch in coefficients of thermal expansion (CTE) of each material.
Figure 2.1 shows the varying CTEs for a typical PBGA package in this research.... Show more

In this study, structural and thermal reliability of ball grid array packages, mainly the shear
stresses and strains of critical solder balls, have been investigated using accelerated life testing.
Many studies and failure analyses have been showing that interconnect failures due to
mismatches of CTE during thermal cycling is the most critical mode of failure in leaded and
SMT packages such as BGAs [5]. Figure 2.3 shows a schematic of what happens to the solder
joints during thermal cycling due to mismatches in CTEs. It shows that at a stress free
temperature, the two components, silicon and the PCB, are relaxed. Then, as the temperature
increases, the PCB wants to expand at a higher rate since the PCB s CTE is 14.5 ppm/В°C and
the CTE of the silicon is 2.54 ppm/В°C. As the temperature drops, the PCB wants to contract much
quicker than the silicon. Looking at the schematic, one can see that the solder joints are having to
flex and deform due to the mismatch in CTE between the two materials. Over time, these shear
stresses and strains cause the solder joints to become fatigued, then cracks begin to propagate, and
the package will ultimately fail once a certain number of thermal cycles have been

my brother, Don John.Afterwards, Claudio approached me, and began talking to me about his love
for the beautiful Hero, telling me he was nervous to confess his loveto her. But, there was a ball to
be held that night, in which I planned to wear a disguise and woo Hero, while pretending to be
Claudio. That night during the masquerade ball, I went up to Hero and told her my wonderful and
compelling feelings for her.She then took my hand in marriageand I began to look for

Speech Cloud In Persepolis
Persepolis Twentieth century holds many enormous changes within all sections of life, graphic
novels as a branch of literature was a part of those changes. It employs visual and verbal
terminology to shape the story. One of the popular novels among graphic novels is Persepolis
which is about the story of the writer s childhood Marjane Satrapi. The narrative graphically and
textually tells about the events including removing Reza Shah from power and replacing him by
his son, ending western power over Iran, and fighting between Iran and Iraq which happened
during 1979 1988. Throughout these years Iranian people have gone through plenty of
fluctuations and changes which are analyzed in numerous ways by foreign people as in one of
her interview Marjane states that From the time I came to France in 1994, I was always telling
stories about life in Iran to my friends. We d see pieces about Iran on television, but they didn t
represent my experience at all. (Pantheon) Therefore, Marjane tries to explain the Iranian true
situation to everyone. Within her graphic novel,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout her novel, Marjane has used several different kinds of speech clouds, such as
speech, though, and scream cloud. In most of the parts of the book she uses speech cloud
because the people are talking normally. For example, on page 70 when god asks Marji what is
wrong with her, Marjane uses speech cloud, for he was talking normally. On the other hand, she
puts her answer into a scream cloud which implies that she is angrily screaming and telling god to
get out. In addition, she uses thought cloud, for example, on page 60, when her uncle tells her that
he was in prison for nine years, she immediately thinks about Laly s father. In this point, the writer
does need to write down that she is thinking instead the graph implies that she is

American Tariffs
In the days of the American colonies, many colonists began to feel oppressed and began the idea
of separating themselves from the British Monarchy. Events such as the taxes and tariffs placed
on everyday items and the killing of innocent lives are all sparks in the ignition of the American
revolution. Perhaps the beginning of the separation of colonies to motherland was the creation of
unnecessary taxes placed on the colonists live in the thirteen British colonies. One of the earliest
taxes created was the original Sugar Act, created in 1733. Following the French and Indian War,
the British had acclimated a very large debt from spending so much money during the war that
they had to find new ways to heal their debt and bring in a larger... Show more content on

On the night of April 18, 1775 british soldiers, also known as Redcoats , stormed into Concord
in order to seize a weapons cache. That very same night more soldiers marched into Lexington to
capture the colonial rebel leaders, Samuel Adams Trevino 6 and John Hancock. Concord was the
sight of one of the largest patriot military supply stations in the colonies, John Warren received
word that the British soldiers were coming to seize this weapons cache and sent Paul revere to
warn them in order for them to have time to move the weapons and supplies out of the town.
This was the night of Paul Revere s famous four words, The British are coming! Though this
story may have been slightly fabricated, because Revere did not act alone in this. It is estimated
that he actually was accompanied by around 40 men while alerting town and while colonists at
that time still considered themselves British, it was more likely that he referred to the soldiers as
redcoats or regulars . With the early warning signs, Samuel Adams and John Hancock were able to
escape capture from the British soldiers. That very next day on April 19, 1775 colonial militiamen

Discrimination against African Americans in The Invisible Man
In the 1950s African Americans were treated unfairly and discriminated against. During the post
civil war time tensions were still high, the discrimination and separation between the blacks and
whites was still prevalent. Discrimination is portrayed through Jim Crow laws, which affected
every African Americantremendously, the narrator s experience at the Battle Royal, and the
narrator s transition from the black college to New York and The Brotherhood. In the Invisible
Man, Ellison utilizes characterization to represent the division between whites and blacks in
America in the 1950s.

Before the fighting the white women were presented as the forbidden fruit. The Battle Royal
incident showed the white women being paraded before the black boys as something to look at,
to admire, and to desire, but not to touch (Sistrunk Krakue 1). Sistrunk Krakue describes the
white women in the novel as royalty, like prized possessions, as if this was a once in a lifetime
opportunity to see these women. These women are presented as dreams because the description
includes admiration, desire, but something they can t actually attain. The white women show
division of social classes because they looked around with their impersonal eyes (Ellison 19).
The eyes give away the fact that the women don t even acknowledge anyone around them, they
are just doing what they re order to do by the wealthy white men. Sistrunk Krakue s idea of
dreaminess and royalty of the white women places them on an entirely different social platform,
one that would be an impossible feat for a black boy. This judgment of the white women further
explains the disrespect that blacks receive in society and how they re judged in most every facet of
life.
Within Invisible Man, judgment of races is a commonplace in society, Ellison exemplifies this point
by starting the novel with a presentation of judgment between races. The town s privileged white
men invite the narrator to give his prestigious speech at their

Actions of drugs on cardiovascular preparations
Introducion
The experiment outlined in this report was carried out with the intention to observe and explore
the effects of certain named drugs on a vascular preparation, in the cardiac region specifically. The
cardiovascular preparation used in this experiment was an isolation of the descending aorta of a rat.
This isolate is particularly useful as it mirrors the responses that would be observed in a human
sample, thus this experiment will give rise to conclusions applicable to humans. The drugs which
will be tested are as follows: acetylcholine, adrenaline, 5 hydroxytryptamine, isoprenaline,
noradrenaline and sodium nitroprusside. As the preparation, inherently was not in a live ... Show

As the added drug would be diluted in the organ bath it was important to calculate doses with that in
mind. Accordingly all calculations were made with the view of the end result, the final bath
concentration (FBC). To achieve the correct final bath concentration it was assumed that the organ
bath had a 25ml volume and then the corresponding quantity and concentration of drug was added.
As an example, 0.25 ml of 10Ојmol/l concentration of drug X was added to ~24.75ml of Krebs
solution to achieve a 1 in 100 dilution resulting in a final bath concentration of 0.1Ојmol/l.
Hence, the experimental procedure was executed as detailed here. A syringe fitted with a
hypodermic needle was used to infuse the drug into the organ bath away from the tissue sample.
To help maintain fair testing conditions it was done such that throughout the experiment the drug
was injected at the same speed at the same location. Prior to injecting, the syringe was checked
for bubbles of air accidentally acquired during uptake of the drug, as this would cause alterations
in volume of drug and thus alterations in FBC. Time at which the drug was added was recorded
using the Biopac software. Subsequently, two minutes was allowed for the interactions and binding
of the drug to occur, in which time the live recordings were monitored for changes. Once sufficient
time was allowed to see a significant change in

How Roadways and Public transit have impacted the city
The top issue in Toronto was the poor performance of public transit such as buses, streetcars, and
subway trains. The TTC system is of very bad performance that even many transit systems in third
world countries provide users with better experiences than trasit users have in Toronto. The current
major problems with TTC are: crowding during rush periods and insufficient ridership to justify
reasonable service levels at other times. Another problem was that Rob Ford was unwilling to
accept a proposal to reduce monitoring of fare payment. I have problems with the honour system, he
said. John Tory opposed the recommendations because they are not funded. But funding such

In June of last year the TTC announced their plan to replace tickets and tokens by integrating
Presto, a Metrolinx smart card system all across the TTC by the end of this year. Tickets and
tokens will only be accepted to mid 2017. Public transit is one of the only means of
transportation for people in this situation, they usually have to chose between basic needs or
fare. Also a study in Edmonton showed that provding youths with monthly transit passes reduces
their encounter with the police or any criminal justice system. With new changes with the TTC
they lack to consider these people in this economic state. The Presto card cost $6 and needs a
minimal of $10 in it, which is paid eithier by credit, debit, or cash. Many people who don t have
fixed adresses are not able to own a bank or credit card. These people then have to use change to
load the cards and with the Presto process which then the card takes 7 10 days to arrive, it s more
of hassle for people than to just carry over change, tickets, or tokens. Also an overall concern
about this machine is not only does it have acess to peoples finicial accounts, but it also tracks our

The Colonies And The New World

The Colonies
It all started in the 17th century, Europeans crossed the Atlantic to find the New World where they
could start their new lives and spread religion along with improving their status in life. It began
with Jamestown; now know as Virginia, when it became the first settlement that soon was
established as the first colony. Not too far long, pilgrims traveled to the New World and discovered
Plymouth in the colony of Massachusetts. As time went by, many disagreements over the
boundaries of the colonies rose and The French and Indian War broke out. After the war, England
took control over the colonies and was broken into 4 major regions The major regions were called
New England, Middle, Chesapeake Bay, and the Southern Colonies. Despite the location and area
the colonies settled, each colony had their own similarities and differences; thus, based on political,
religious, self governing, and land owning. These individual colonies declared independence from
Britain and without a hesitation, they broke out and each went their ways.
Four major colonies that made up New England were New Hampshire, Massachusetts Bay, Rhode
Island, and Connecticut Colony. Pilgrims, also known as puritans, left the Church of England to
travel to the New World in request of land and to have the choice of religion. The puritans then
became known as the separatists . Soon after, William Bradford and 67 migrants traveled from

The Differences Of Hinduism And The BaпїЅ Faith
Two of the most widespread religions in the world today are Hinduism and the BahГЎ Г Faith.
While Hinduism is a major world religion and the BahГЎ Г Faith are a minor world religion, their
impacts are different but no less significant. Each religion has a variety of fine points that make
them unique, but they also share quite a bit in common. Both religions share so much in common
that it can be hard to tell apart, but Hinduismhas its own distinct beliefs that do not coincide with
the BahГЎ Г Faith. For instance, while Hinduism is one of the eight core religions believed in in
the BahГЎ Г Faith, Hindus see their religionas the only correct way to live your life and they do
not accept other religions such as Christianity, Islam, and Judaism as those of the BahГЎ Г Faith
do. Hinduism is also unique because there was no sole founder and it arose in history around 1500
1200 BCE (PG1). This differs from the BahГЎ Г Faith where their founder, the Bab ud Din, began
the radical idea of all religions being the same in only the mid 1800 s and from then on has had
many leaders who have carried the religion (PG2). It is clear that Hinduism is different because it
has been around a lot longer than the BahГЎ Г Faith even if the BahГЎ Г Faith accepts the
teachings of Hinduism. Another significant difference between the BahГЎ Г Faith and Hinduism is
their god(s). Those who practice Hinduism have many gods such as Vishnu, Krishna, Rama, and
Shiva and worship them all differently and for

Persuasive Essay On A Separate Peace
Peace is very complex. It could happen when your young, or when your older and more

Peace by John Knowles Gene finds peace in a very odd way. He has a quite separate peace from
everyone else. Staring off as one piece, braking off into a separate piece, and finally finding a
separate peace, Gene discovers he is himself, and not Finny. Without peace, people become
discombobulated. Before the casualty, Gene believes that he is Finny. They are one piece that
cannot be separated. If one of them fails to do something, it is the job of the other to succeed. We
see this when Gene puts on Finny s cloths when he is gone. I never forgot, and that evening I put
on his cordovan shoes, his pants, and I looked for and finally found his pink shirt, neatly
laundered in a drawer.... But when I looked in the mirror it was no remote aristocrat I had
become, no character out of daydreams. I was Phineas (Knowles 62). In addition to looking the
part, he plays the part. When Finny breaks his leg and can no longer be himself and play sports,

1. INTRODUCTION
Nowadays the internal combustion engines are spread to the extent that they represent the main
cause of pollutant production. Nevertheless, it is well known that the stocks of fuels traditionally
used in this kind of engines will be able to satisfy the world s needs for few more decades. This
explains the massive research activity, drawn all over the world, addressed to the utilization of
innovative fuels and injection concepts in order to either replace the traditional ones or obtain a
more efficient and clean combustion. Compared to diesel engines, characterized by a high
efficiency but at the same time high levels of articulate, and to premixed charge gasoline engines,
characterized by a low efficiency because of knock limitations and pumping losses, lean burn
engines can reach a higher efficiency thanks to lower pumping losses and heat transfer. On the
contrary, lean mixtures generally imply higher levels of both total unburned hydrocarbons (THC)
and carbon monoxide. Nevertheless, mixing the fuel with an increasing quantity of air, flame
instability, sometimes leading to misfiring, is observed.

Natural Gas Mining Or Mineral Extraction
Since land subsidence is one of the most difficult natural hazards to predict, humans are often
provided with little to no warning of a drop in ground elevation. This downward shift of elevation
is a common side effect of disasters, both natural and human induced. Land Subsidence can be
triggered by disasters such as earthquakes or the over mining of natural resources. Subsidence is
often not discussed as a common conversation topic, which has led to many people lacking
knowledge on how to monitor an area or be prepared to help prevent it from happening. There are
approaches that people can take to mitigate the chances of causing land subsidence due to activities
within their control, such as natural gas mining or mineral... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The state of California is known as one of the largest agricultural producing states in the nation
with the San Joaquin Valley being one of the world s most productive agricultural regions. As the
region has a large expectancy for agricultural production, California relies a great deal on water,

developed for a consistent water source for farming to maintain the lively hood of local

Outdoor Graduation

you experienced when you stepped up on that stage to receive your diploma? in general, students
look forward to the day they graduate high school. Where the students have their graduation
ceremonies has been debated by students for many years. Although outdoor graduations may cost
more than indoor and require a lot more effort, they could be worth a student s time and money in
the end. That is why an outdoor graduationshould be a student s first choice over an indoor
graduation. First off, an outdoor graduation should be a student s first choice because it would
allow more people to attend the ceremony. for example, if a graduating class consists of more than

For many years in Gateway, high school students pay class dues throughout their high school
career in order to ultimately afford an outdoor graduation. The money would cover most of the
expenses required to set up for an outdoor ceremony. Some students in Gateway argue that this is
a waste of money because it doesn t matter where we graduate, as long as we receive our
diploma. I think it does matter, because a high school student only graduates once, and graduation
should be a memorable experience. And where would you rather make good memories? Inside,
where you have limited space and where less family members could share the joy with you, or
outside on a beautiful summer day where your whole family could share the joy with

Children s Tumor Foundation Research Paper
Children s Tumor Foundation
The minute I saw families supporting a friend or family member who had or is battling
neurofibromatosis(NF), I had this warm sentiment needing to do the most to give my full support
in any given way to the families. The Children s Tumor Foundation is a non profit organization
that devotes to finding effective treatments for the millions of people worldwide overall living
with neurofibromatosis (NF), a genetic disorder that causes tumors to develop on nerves all
throughout the body. The foundation organized a carnival that joined a wide range of foods,
raffle tickets,T shirts sale, celebrity karaoke and so on this happens each year at the CBS studio. I
had a pleasure to meet one of only a handful few individuals ... Show more content on

As I arrived I met Joyce( leader of the foundation) along with her son who is legally blind and
had been in chemotherapy for four years. When I met her she greeted me and had this smile and
told me, Thank you for taking your time to volunteer it really means a lot to us . I saw families
coming in with T shirts with names on it and I figure they were families that were supporting a
friend or family member who was at the time or is battling NF. It felt great just even volunteering
and being part of the foundation because I was able to interact with families as they came in . I
really build a connection with one of the families I had came across with and opened up to me
about their younger son who had just survived NF. It was just one of those moments where all
you can do is support them with your presence. This foundation felt more like we were all a
family gathering and supporting one another and knowing that they re not alone. I was assigned
to do cashier for raffle tickets, but Joyce was nice enough for volunteers to rotate hourly to
perform different tasks. None of the tasks that I did were hard in any way. I was able to be
cashier for raffle tickets, guide families as they walk to support the NF, and organize all of the
gifts that were going to give out on the raffle tickets. It was quite enjoyable. Everyone that
volunteer there was very friendly and was very helpful. They even provided us lunch and a
fifteen minute break to volunteers. I really liked the way that they cared and were kind to us
throughout the time we were present. I really got to gain experience in learning how to do things
and gain more knowledge in what the purpose of the foundation was for. I think the best
experience I had was meet celebrities that came along and support families. They had celebrity
karaoke for children and family to participate and sing along. I had a pleasure to meet two

Water Trading Papers
Water trading is one of those invisible necessitates. Not many see it or even know that it has
occurred, as long as they have water when they turn on the tap; people by and large are oblivious
as to how it got there. Water trading happens primarily on the regional level, as it is not feasible
to pipe water across the country. It is necessary to trade, buy and sell water rights in areas all over
the country. In areas such as Las Vegas that have a population that vastly outweighs the natural
water supply, it is necessary to import water from areas of abundance to make up the difference.
Water trading at its core is like any other commodity trading. One party receives one thing in
exchange for another. This paper will examine how water trading occurs between states and
ultimately how water gets from where it is to where it is needed.
The availability of water is an issue that requires careful management and planning in order to
maximize access. Areas in the Western United States have rapidly growing populations without
the natural water sources to sustain them. The art of getting water from where it is or who has it
to where it is needed or who needs it is the practice of water trading. Deals made between states to
ensure access to water.
In western states, individuals do not own water as they might own land. The state owns the water,
which it holds in trust for its citizens. Some economists would argue that water trading could
promote more efficient water usage because a

Juicy Campus And Its Impact On Business Essay
Juicy Campus, a user generated website that allows students from college campuses to make
comments about one another and share stories through forums, all while remaining anonymous.
Juicy Campus faces many obstacles to find the tools to survive. The controversies were
abundant among students, faculties, business partners and the media, therefore creating more
threats for Juicy Campus to expand and grow. The problems began to pile up and ultimately lead
to proponents for our termination. According to the stakeholder theory which argues that
corporations serve a broad public purpose: to create value for society ( Lawrence and Weber,
2014, pg 6). Juicy Campus stakeholders involve: Matt Ivester (founder of Juicy Campus), users
and readers of the site, college campuses in which the site operates, Google and the media. Juicy
Campus must respond and spawn a set of values that would help better its reputation. Juicy
Campus must redeem itself and create more value to its company or face the risk losing the
Juicy campus entirely. After carefully examining Juicy Campus internally and externally, we
have come up with a solution to create more value to the stakeholders of Juicy Campus. We will
first take a look more in depth at the primary and secondary stakeholders. We will discuss the
relevancy of power, urgency, and legitimacy. Second, we will identify a few of the problems that
Juicy Campus is faced with creating more value and what stakeholders have at risk. Next, we will

Edgar Allan Poe Rabies
Poe Was a Victim of Rabies Edgar Allen Poe was a great writer that lived a hard life and died an
unfortunate death. On October 7, 1849 Edgar Allen Poe died. There are many theories of how
Poe died such as alcoholism and rabies. Poe died of rabies not alcoholism. Dr. R. Michael
Benitez explains that one fourth of rabies victims cannot remember being bitten (Pg. 187).
There is no evidence that Poe was bitten, but it can take up to a year for symptoms to appear.
When symptoms do appear the disease is a swift and brutal killer. Most patients die in a few
days. (New York Times pg. 187). Poe was only alive for four days at the hospital and was
confused and belligerent most of the time. Rabies victims frequently exhibit hydrophobia, or
fear of water, because it is painful to swallow. (New York Times pg. 187). For that reason, he
could drink water only with great difficulty. This is why it cannot be alcoholism. The writer is so
sensitive to alcohol that a glass of wine would make him violently ill for days. (New York Times
pg.188). Therefore, he could not have died of alcoholism if drinking alcohol makes him that sick.
Mr. Jerome, curator of the Edger Allen Poe House and Museum in Baltimore, said Poe may have
had problems with alcohol when he was younger but by the time he died at forty he almost always
avoided... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Dr. Benitez, in his article, said Poe was perspiring heavily, hallucinating, and
shouting at imaginary companions (New York Times pg. 187). These are all signs of rabies not
alcoholism. Poe had all of the features of encephalitic rabies said Dr. Henry Wilde, who
frequently treats rabies at Chulalongkorn University Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand. A doctor that
studies rabies and treats them all of the time, even thinks that Poe had rabies. Rabies victims
frequently exhibit hydrophobia, or fear of water, because it is painful to swallow. (New York
Times pg. 187). Poe could only drink water with great

The Roman armies of four forces that were sent out were outmanoeuvred and easily defeated. Spartacus won another three fights before a new roman military force under the control Marcus Crassus was sent to deal with the rebellious slave army. Eventually after long pursuits of battles, Spartacus was killed near the headwaters of the Siler River in southern Italy, but his body was never found. Crassus then crucified 6,000 rebellious slaves as a warning to others. Qin Shi Huang The next figure I will be introducing is a tyrant ruler from the China Dynasty. His father was the king of the Qin state, and at the age of thirteen his father passed away. He was well educated and at the age of 22, he took full control of his title as king. • 3. The Diet, The South Beach Diet Introduction: We live in a society that is crazed in following latest diets whether it be the Mediterranean diet, the Atkins diet, the South Beach diet etc. Each day there are new discoveries displayed throughout the media regarding diets and lifestyles, yet for a society so obsessed in the healthiest trend our statistics tend to show the flying numbers at which the population is diagnosed with chronic diseases related to nutritional factors. Thus a sound nutritionis more essential than ever. In the United States at least 4 of the 10 leading causes of are directly linked to what we eat. Majority if not all of the chronic diseases have a nutritional/lifestyle component that if caught in time can be reversed. Therefore the focus of the meal plan project was to gain an understanding of one s own personal nutritional intake by measuring calories consumed throughout the course of one week. In doing so the individual is made aware of any nutritional deficiencies or food excesses by the choices made when selecting food. The individual is able to fully grasp their individual needs by analyzing the data collected over their consumption of essential nutrients such as carbohydrates, lipids, water and proteins. In the midst of attending class, work and club schedules, as well as inadequate sleep I hypothesize that my overall nutrition will look be a downward spiral with insufficient calories and deficiencies in minerals. • 4. Case Study Operation Anaconda Operation Anaconda Case Study When it comes to succeeding at anything, it is important to plan, prepare, and rehears the outcome. In a combat zone, this becomes even more important because lives and the success of the mission depend on it. This was not the case however, during a fight called Operation Anaconda. The purpose of this paper is to point out what went wrong with the lack of planning, coordination, rehearsal, and preparation between Air and ground communications, and how it proved to be critical during Operation Anaconda. The ending results were a delayed execution and several friendly casualties. In February 2002, Special Forces intelligence agents along with Advanced Force Operations (AFO), and the Central Intelligence Agency(CIA), were starting to make a connection between an increase presence of high value targets (HVT), the Taliban, and Al Qaeda fighters in an area called Shahi Kot Valley (Neville, 2005). Shahi Kot is located in Afghanistan, just southeast of a town called Zormat. A plan was devised to eliminate the enemy threat in that area. Major Franklin L. Hagenbeck was to command the mission called Operation Anaconda. This operation was the first large scale battle in the United States War in Afghanistan since the Battle of Tora Bora (Call, 2007, p. 57 86). Operation Anaconda was also unique in the fact that it would involve a great number of Afghan militia, U.S. and coalition Special Operations, and conventional forces (U.S. Army, n.d.), ... Huynh Professor Barzaeger Intro to World Religions 6 December 2017 MLA Annotated Bibliography on Ghandi Social Justice and Religion Attenborough, Richard, director. Gandhi. Columbia Pictures, 1982. Gandhi is a biopic produced by Richard Attenborough whose lifelong dream was to make the story of the national independence leader s life into a movie. The movie starts with Mohandas K. Gandhi, played by actor Ben Kingsley, rejecting all material possessions in pursuit of India s independence. The storyline plays out to highlight important aspect of Gandhi s life and ends with his assassination, where he utters the famous lines Oh god. Critics claim the movie is over exaggerated, however Attenborough does a fine job of bringing a visual of Gandhi s life into Western eyes. In addition, what could be a bad thing ends up being a good thing for the layman who watches this movie. Attenborough oversimplifies Gandhi s perspectives and ideas on social justice and religion, which leads to a very simple explanation of Gandhi s philosophy. Friedman, Joseph S. • 11. Suspense In The Film Rear Window Hitchcock uses many techniques throughout the film Rear Window to convey suspense. The major theme of the film regards Jefferies voyeurism. His intrigue in the everyday lives of his neighbours is viewed as intrusive and morally wrong on principle. However, without this voyeuristic tendency the crime committed by Thornwald would never have been solved. Thus, the audience is lead through emotional turmoil in questioning whether it is wrong to invade someone s privacy, or just and heroic to solve a crime. We see the climax of the film when Lisa and Stella venture out of Jefferies apartmentto investigate the murder of Mrs Thornwald. This leads to a confrontation between Thornwald and Jefferies. These scenes build suspense through the use of detachment, the use of split screen , red herring plotdevices, lighting, music and diegetic sound. In Hitchcock s Rear Window Jefferies apartment is the sole viewpoint to the outside world for the audience. We rarely see anything that isn t from Jefferies immediate surroundings or directly from his point of view. This gives Jefferies, and in turn the viewers, a detached sense of realism from the world of the apartment complex opposite. This detachment is apparent to throughout the movie as many characters state to Jefferies that what he s doing is morally wrong. However, the line of moral and immoral conduct is pushed as Jefferies continues to watch his neighbours and ultimately becomes directly involved in the plot which he had ... She tried and tried, no matter how difficult it was, to get into the townspeople s mind that they should not be doing what they are doing, that it is wrong. Some people are not as brave as Tessie Hutchinson, Martin Niemoller, for example, had the chance to speak up against the Nazi, he had the chance to speak for what is right, instead he kept silent in First they came . It is hard standing up for what is right, especially when you do not know what the consequences are, whether you ll get hurt or teased or whether somebody else will. In detail, The Lottery is about standing up for what is right is not always the easiest path. For example, Some places have already quit lotteries Mrs. Adams said. Another quote that goes along with that is, Nothing but trouble in that, Old Man Warner said stoutly. Pack of young fools. (paragraph 33 34). The reason why this relates to the text because this is the time that Tessie Hutchinson could have stood up and told everyone that it is not right to have this lottery, instead she kept quiet because she knew it was not going to be easy standing up to the whole town and saying that what they are doing is not right. She could have stood up more than she did, instead she chose to wait until it was her who won the lottery. Another example to support the theme is, Tessie Hutchinson shouted to Mr. Summers, You didn t give him time enough to take any paper he wanted. I saw you. It wasn t fair! (paragraph 45), another quote that goes along with it is, Be a good sport Tessie, Mrs. Delacroix called, and Mrs. Graves said, All of us took the same chance. (paragraph 46). The reason why these two pieces of evidence supports the theme, standing up for what s right may not always be the easiest path, is by showing that Tessie does stand up. Maybe she is not standing up for the fact that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Shelley family was well known in Europe, not only for their affair, but for their poetry and stories. Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein or A Modern Prometheus. While Percy Shelley published multiple poems. Three of those poems that had a substantial impact on society are Ozymandias, To a Skylark, and Ode to the West Wind. There s multiple messages in each of these, however one message from each sticks out more than the rest. The three messages from Ozymandias, To a Skylark, and Ode to the West Wind are that everyone fades from history, one idea could spark a fire of curiosity, and that bad things are followed by good things. The first message is from Ozymandias, and it is that everyone s name will eventually fade from history. The poem is about a man who visits egypt and finds a sunken statue in the middle of the desert. It says the name of an old king who tells people to fear his structures and his power. However, there is no city and everything he built was consumed by the sand. • 23. The Pros And Cons Of The Popcorn Failure Reliability is defined as the ability of a system or component to perform its required functions under stated conditions for a specified period of time. The operation of any electronic device generates heat and with the increasing device density of the IC chips the amount of heat flux generated by the integrated circuitchips has gone to a level of 100 200 W/(cm^2 ) [2]. Each time a device is powered up, the individual components heat up and cool down. This heating and cooling leads to thermal cycling of the electronic components which causes many problems, such as shear deformation, due to the mismatch in coefficients of thermal expansion (CTE) of each material. Figure 2.1 shows the varying CTEs for a typical PBGA package in this research.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this study, structural and thermal reliability of ball grid array packages, mainly the shear stresses and strains of critical solder balls, have been investigated using accelerated life testing. Many studies and failure analyses have been showing that interconnect failures due to mismatches of CTE during thermal cycling is the most critical mode of failure in leaded and SMT packages such as BGAs [5]. Figure 2.3 shows a schematic of what happens to the solder joints during thermal cycling due to mismatches in CTEs. It shows that at a stress free temperature, the two components, silicon and the PCB, are relaxed. Then, as the temperature increases, the PCB wants to expand at a higher rate since the PCB s CTE is 14.5 ppm/В°C and the CTE of the silicon is 2.54 ppm/В°C. As the temperature drops, the PCB wants to contract much quicker than the silicon. Looking at the schematic, one can see that the solder joints are having to flex and deform due to the mismatch in CTE between the two materials. Over time, these shear stresses and strains cause the solder joints to become fatigued, then cracks begin to propagate, and the package will ultimately fail once a certain number of thermal cycles have been ... Events such as the taxes and tariffs placed on everyday items and the killing of innocent lives are all sparks in the ignition of the American revolution. Perhaps the beginning of the separation of colonies to motherland was the creation of unnecessary taxes placed on the colonists live in the thirteen British colonies. One of the earliest taxes created was the original Sugar Act, created in 1733. This was the night of Paul Revere s famous four words, The British are coming! Though this story may have been slightly fabricated, because Revere did not act alone in this. It is estimated that he actually was accompanied by around 40 men while alerting town and while colonists at that time still considered themselves British, it was more likely that he referred to the soldiers as redcoats or regulars . Before the fighting the white women were presented as the forbidden fruit. The Battle Royal incident showed the white women being paraded before the black boys as something to look at, to admire, and to desire, but not to touch (Sistrunk Krakue 1). Sistrunk Krakue describes the white women in the novel as royalty, like prized possessions, as if this was a once in a lifetime opportunity to see these women. These women are presented as dreams because the description includes admiration, desire, but something they can t actually attain. The white women show division of social classes because they looked around with their impersonal eyes (Ellison 19). The eyes give away the fact that the women don t even acknowledge anyone around them, they are just doing what they re order to do by the wealthy white men. Sistrunk Krakue s idea of dreaminess and royalty of the white women places them on an entirely different social platform, one that would be an impossible feat for a black boy. This judgment of the white women further explains the disrespect that blacks receive in society and how they re judged in most every facet of life. Within Invisible Man, judgment of races is a commonplace in society, Ellison exemplifies this point by starting the novel with a presentation of judgment between races. As the added drug would be diluted in the organ bath it was important to calculate doses with that in mind. Accordingly all calculations were made with the view of the end result, the final bath concentration (FBC). To achieve the correct final bath concentration it was assumed that the organ bath had a 25ml volume and then the corresponding quantity and concentration of drug was added. As an example, 0.25 ml of 10Ојmol/l concentration of drug X was added to ~24.75ml of Krebs solution to achieve a 1 in 100 dilution resulting in a final bath concentration of 0.1Ојmol/l. Hence, the experimental procedure was executed as detailed here. A syringe fitted with a hypodermic needle was used to infuse the drug into the organ bath away from the tissue sample. To help maintain fair testing conditions it was done such that throughout the experiment the drug was injected at the same speed at the same location. Prior to injecting, the syringe was checked for bubbles of air accidentally acquired during uptake of the drug, as this would cause alterations in volume of drug and thus alterations in FBC. Time at which the drug was added was recorded using the Biopac software. Subsequently, two minutes was allowed for the interactions and binding of the drug to occur, in which time the live recordings were monitored for changes. The Colonies And The New World Sarah Gomez Professor Shane West HIST 1301 22 September 2014 The Colonies It all started in the 17th century, Europeans crossed the Atlantic to find the New World where they could start their new lives and spread religion along with improving their status in life. It began with Jamestown; now know as Virginia, when it became the first settlement that soon was established as the first colony. Not too far long, pilgrims traveled to the New World and discovered Plymouth in the colony of Massachusetts. As time went by, many disagreements over the boundaries of the colonies rose and The French and Indian War broke out. After the war, England took control over the colonies and was broken into 4 major regions The major regions were called New England, Middle, Chesapeake Bay, and the Southern Colonies. Despite the location and area the colonies settled, each colony had their own similarities and differences; thus, based on political, religious, self governing, and land owning. These individual colonies declared independence from Britain and without a hesitation, they broke out and each went their ways. Four major colonies that made up New England were New Hampshire, Massachusetts Bay, Rhode Island, and Connecticut Colony. While Hinduism is a major world religion and the BahГЎ Г Faith are a minor world religion, their impacts are different but no less significant. Each religion has a variety of fine points that make them unique, but they also share quite a bit in common. Both religions share so much in common that it can be hard to tell apart, but Hinduismhas its own distinct beliefs that do not coincide with the BahГЎ Г Faith. For instance, while Hinduism is one of the eight core religions believed in in the BahГЎ Г Faith, Hindus see their religionas the only correct way to live your life and they do not accept other religions such as Christianity, Islam, and Judaism as those of the BahГЎ Г Faith do. Hinduism is also unique because there was no sole founder and it arose in history around 1500 1200 BCE (PG1). This differs from the BahГЎ Г Faith where their founder, the Bab ud Din, began the radical idea of all religions being the same in only the mid 1800 s and from then on has had many leaders who have carried the religion (PG2). It is clear that Hinduism is different because it has been around a lot longer than the BahГЎ Г Faith even if the BahГЎ Г Faith accepts the teachings of Hinduism. INTRODUCTION Nowadays the internal combustion engines are spread to the extent that they represent the main cause of pollutant production. Nevertheless, it is well known that the stocks of fuels traditionally used in this kind of engines will be able to satisfy the world s needs for few more decades. This explains the massive research activity, drawn all over the world, addressed to the utilization of innovative fuels and injection concepts in order to either replace the traditional ones or obtain a more efficient and clean combustion. Compared to diesel engines, characterized by a high efficiency but at the same time high levels of articulate, and to premixed charge gasoline engines, characterized by a low efficiency because of knock limitations and pumping losses, lean burn engines can reach a higher efficiency thanks to lower pumping losses and heat transfer. On the contrary, lean mixtures generally imply higher levels of both total unburned hydrocarbons (THC) and carbon monoxide. Inside, where you have limited space and where less family members could share the joy with you, or outside on a beautiful summer day where your whole family could share the joy with ... • 45. Children s Tumor Foundation Research Paper Children s Tumor Foundation The minute I saw families supporting a friend or family member who had or is battling neurofibromatosis(NF), I had this warm sentiment needing to do the most to give my full support in any given way to the families. The Children s Tumor Foundation is a non profit organization that devotes to finding effective treatments for the millions of people worldwide overall living with neurofibromatosis (NF), a genetic disorder that causes tumors to develop on nerves all throughout the body. The foundation organized a carnival that joined a wide range of foods, raffle tickets,T shirts sale, celebrity karaoke and so on this happens each year at the CBS studio. I had a pleasure to meet one of only a handful few individuals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As I arrived I met Joyce( leader of the foundation) along with her son who is legally blind and had been in chemotherapy for four years. When I met her she greeted me and had this smile and told me, Thank you for taking your time to volunteer it really means a lot to us . I saw families coming in with T shirts with names on it and I figure they were families that were supporting a friend or family member who was at the time or is battling NF. It felt great just even volunteering and being part of the foundation because I was able to interact with families as they came in . I really build a connection with one of the families I had came across with and opened up to me about their younger son who had just survived NF. It was just one of those moments where all you can do is support them with your presence. This foundation felt more like we were all a family gathering and supporting one another and knowing that they re not alone. I was assigned to do cashier for raffle tickets, but Joyce was nice enough for volunteers to rotate hourly to perform different tasks. None of the tasks that I did were hard in any way. I was able to be cashier for raffle tickets, guide families as they walk to support the NF, and organize all of the gifts that were going to give out on the raffle tickets. It was quite enjoyable. Everyone that volunteer there was very friendly and was very helpful. They even provided us lunch and a fifteen minute break to volunteers. I really liked the way that they cared and were kind to us throughout the time we were present. I really got to gain experience in learning how to do things and gain more knowledge in what the purpose of the foundation was for. I think the best experience I had was meet celebrities that came along and support families. They had celebrity karaoke for children and family to participate and sing along. • 46. Water Trading Papers Water trading is one of those invisible necessitates. Not many see it or even know that it has occurred, as long as they have water when they turn on the tap; people by and large are oblivious as to how it got there. Water trading happens primarily on the regional level, as it is not feasible to pipe water across the country. It is necessary to trade, buy and sell water rights in areas all over the country. In areas such as Las Vegas that have a population that vastly outweighs the natural water supply, it is necessary to import water from areas of abundance to make up the difference. Water trading at its core is like any other commodity trading. One party receives one thing in exchange for another. This paper will examine how water trading occurs between states and ultimately how water gets from where it is to where it is needed. The availability of water is an issue that requires careful management and planning in order to maximize access. Areas in the Western United States have rapidly growing populations without the natural water sources to sustain them. The art of getting water from where it is or who has it to where it is needed or who needs it is the practice of water trading. Deals made between states to ensure access to water. In western states, individuals do not own water as they might own land. The state owns the water, which it holds in trust for its citizens. Some economists would argue that water trading could promote more efficient water usage because a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Juicy Campus stakeholders involve: Matt Ivester (founder of Juicy Campus), users and readers of the site, college campuses in which the site operates, Google and the media. Juicy Campus must respond and spawn a set of values that would help better its reputation. • 48. Edgar Allan Poe Rabies Poe Was a Victim of Rabies Edgar Allen Poe was a great writer that lived a hard life and died an unfortunate death. On October 7, 1849 Edgar Allen Poe died. There are many theories of how Poe died such as alcoholism and rabies. Poe died of rabies not alcoholism. Dr. R. Michael Benitez explains that one fourth of rabies victims cannot remember being bitten (Pg. 187). There is no evidence that Poe was bitten, but it can take up to a year for symptoms to appear. When symptoms do appear the disease is a swift and brutal killer. Most patients die in a few days. (New York Times pg. 187). Poe was only alive for four days at the hospital and was confused and belligerent most of the time. Rabies victims frequently exhibit hydrophobia, or fear of water, because it is painful to swallow. (New York Times pg. 187). For that reason, he could drink water only with great difficulty. This is why it cannot be alcoholism. The writer is so sensitive to alcohol that a glass of wine would make him violently ill for days. (New York Times pg.188). Therefore, he could not have died of alcoholism if drinking alcohol makes him that sick. Mr. Jerome, curator of the Edger Allen Poe House and Museum in Baltimore, said Poe may have had problems with alcohol when he was younger but by the time he died at forty he almost always avoided...
