Descriptive Essay On The Shore
Venture Down The Shore If The shirt before the shirt , GTL , and DTS sound familiar then you
were an MTV Jersey Shore fan, a reality show set at Seaside Heights, New Jersey. Although The
Shore, which is a local term for the New Jersey Shore, has a reputation for being trashy, especially
after the show, it is actually a family friendly vacation spot. Considering that it has a clean beach,
an amazing boardwalk with an amusement park and water park, quaint shops, and iconic
landmarks, it is no wonder that the New JerseyShore is a favorite summer vacation spot. When I
was a teenager, my family took a vacation on the east coast. I was fortunate enough to have cool
parents that let the teenagers pick some places to visit. Since we were all fans of the Jersey Shore
show and so close to New Jersey, all the teenagers begged to go to The Shore . I expected it to be
a cool, hip place with the MTV stars all around. The Shore looks similar to other beach cities. It
has a calm, relaxing feel to it. It has the beautiful, blue skies and ocean breezes. It has sunbathers,
surfers, boogie boarders, and beachcombers. However, there is a fee to go on the beach in
addition to the parking fee, which was a surprise for us, but it is The Shore . The beach is clean
with white sand and blue water. Unlike California beaches, it is usually not crowded (probably
because they charge people). There are places to rent snorkeling gear and boogie boards. The
excitement comes from the boardwalk. It

Ch.10: In late July of 2008, Sunil and many other people comes across a dying scavenger lying
in the middle of the road, they are all afraid to call the police because of the position that Abdul
and his family are now in. And finally when the police come by they quickly pick up the body, and
mark the cause of death as tuberculosis without ordering an autopsy. Two more bodies are found
and both of the bodies are forgotten and the cause of death uninvestigated. These mysterious deaths
makes the people of Annawadi worry that One Leg has cast a curse over them. Sunil, worried again
about how hasn t grown in a while, has noticed how recently, Sonu, another scavenger a few years
older then him, has been collecting a considerable amount of garbage. Sonu is somewhat of an
outcast, he is weak and tiny like Sunil, not a threat to many of the scavengers. Sunil follows
Sonu one night and discovers he has a deal with some security guards at the airport, if he sweeps
the floors, they give him their trash for the night. Sunil and Sonu start up a partnership, it is quite
successful and both are making a dollar a day. Sonu and Sunil start a friendship, Sonu acting as a
mentor to Sunil. Sonu is hardworking scavenger, who lives a clean life, not stealing, going to
school at nights, and staying away from drugs. Sonu tries to teach Sonu some of his moral ways
but Sunil doesn t completely believe in all of them. Sunil and Sonu are two small boys who are

Energy Deregulation Essay
What is energy deregulation? Energy deregulation is the breakup of the utility monopoly in 35
states. Currently only 11 states allow full deregulation which allows consumers and businesses to
choose their own electricity and gas providers. Energy deregulation is very similar to the AT T
divestiture back in 1984. Consumers businesses were bound to AT T for their local and long
distance services regardless of cost. The break up of AT T to Bell companies allow consumers to
choose providers such as MCI, Sprint, and other telecommunication companies which allowed
increased competition. Energy deregulation will do the same; however the PUC (Public Utilities
Commission) of each given state is cautious of the breakup to prevent another Enron catastrophe.
Also consumers need to make sure what agreement they sign as contracts are usually determined by
fixed and variable rates. Also do not confuse energy deregulation with alternative energy or
renewable energy, energy deregulation simply means shopping for electricity gas services through
the open market.
Energy deregulation has been adopted by many states over the past several years as a way to allow
for multiple energy providers to compete for customers based on price and a higher level of
customer service, break the utility monopoly into separate companies or business unit that separate

In deregulated energy markets, government regulatory entities are no longer involved in setting
the price of energy component of the retail electric bill, which allows for more competitive

Tabula Rasa In Victor Frankenstein
Brought to life from the dead by the workings of Victor Frankenstein; There he was, a tabula
rasa. Tabula rasa is the absence of preconceived ideas or predetermined goals or a clean slate as
stated in the dictionary. Unbroken by society the creature was not a monster. It was the
responsibility of Frankenstein to influence and guide the creation to greatness and productivity but
as the creator abandoned him, he was all alone on the search of knowledge. As the creature
yearned to be enlightened, he discovered a series of booksand those of his protectors which led him
to the path of destruction and revenge. One of the first books that the creature learned from was
Volney s Ruins of Empires. The creature learns about the science of letter from this bookand it
opened a wide field for wonder and delight. It was full of information regarding historic empires
and their way of life including certain manners, the way the governments were ran, and the
religions of each. Asia, Greece, Roman wars, and the discovery of western hemisphere were
also of topics explained in the book by Felix. The creature stated, Was man, indeed, at once so
powerful, so virtuous and magnificent, yet so vicious and base? (Page 50) Through all this, he
gained knowledge on the way the world worked and was ran. This also sparked the hatred for

Filippo Brunelleschi Influence
The Renaissance, which lasted from the fourteenth through mid seventeenth century, was a
movement aimed towards reviving classical culture and an appreciation for ancient ways. Florence,
Italy was considered the birthplace and the heart of the Renaissance. It was an industry town that
dedicated its resources and supplies to architectural projects and where new architectural styles
were developed ( The ). It s impact on Western art lasted 600 years (Edgerton). Filippo
Brunelleschi, a Florentine architect, changed the course of Renaissancearchitecture, developing new
styles and techniques that forever changed the application of perspective in art. The techniques

He often designed ways to solve complicated mechanical problems (Hyman) and had a talent for
it (King 12). Some of his most impressive solutions were mechanical inventions for construction
that surpassed the technological advances of that time period (Hyman). Refined through his
obsession with the geometric principles behind symmetry, proportion, and perspective (Hyman),
Brunelleschi perfected his architectural skills in 1420 ( The ) and was known for his use of
classical architectural elements. He studied ancient ruins, taking notes in secret code (King 24),
most likely about the three architectural orders: Dorian, Ionic, and Corinthian (King 26). There
were defining features (Hyman) in his complicated and detailed works, and he most often used
Corinthian order because it was most decorative. The decorations were neat, elegant, and clean

grey sandstone, was used for all classical parts of his buildings. Later works demonstrated unified
composition and basic proportions with a refined classicism style

Importance Of The 10th Amendment
The United States Constitution is the founding document of the current system in the United States
of America. The Constitution establishes the powers of the different branches of the government,
as well as creates the different laws of the land. Anything written in the Constitution or in its
amendments becomes part of the supreme law of the United States. As such, the Constitution and its
amendments, is the most important document in the land. With this being the case, it is important
for Americans to know about the amendments, and one of the most important amendments in the
Constitution is the 10th amendment. The 10th amendment is an extremely important amendment
that was necessary to help ratify the Constitution. The 10th amendment says: The powers not
delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to
the states respectively, or to the people (Cornell Law School). This amendment is essentially saying
that any powers that the Constitution does not expressly give to the federal government, those
powers fall to the state governments. This means that certain government entities not outlined by
the Constitution, such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) or the Department of
Education, which provide more power to the federal government, are in violation of the
Constitution. These bodies are allowing the government more power than the Constitution provides
them. This overstepping that these government agencies

Analysis Of Interior Of The Pantheon, Roman By Giovanni...
Interior of the Pantheon, Rome (1734) is a remarkable painting by Giovanni Paolo Panini who is
best known for his prospects on Rome in which he focussed on the city s famous sites. His works
largely have a fancy and unreal adornment feature of capriccio themes. The Pantheon is a former
Roman temple which is now a church in Rome. It is one of the best preserved Ancient Roman
Buildings which is also popular for the geometric wonder that it is. It demonstrates the theory of
2:3 correlation between the volume of a cylinder and a sphere. The Pantheon being one of the main
tourist attractions in Rome, Panini s depiction of this architectural model is populated with a lively
mix of Romans and other foreign visitors who are visiting the Pantheon to admire the marvellous
architecture, chat, and to pray. Panini being a trained expert in theatrical design and architecture
has provided a larger view of the interiors of Pantheon than what is possible in real from a single
point. The viewpoint is intense while it faces the entrance. Panini s attempt to show the bright blue
sky through the oculus in the centre of the dome just adds to the magnificence of the painting. The
psychic line towards the sunlight creates a soft feeling that is not too harsh on eyes but directs the
vision to the right point. The ground is a terracotta coloured layer that is reddish and contains
several translucent white pigments to provide a certain depth. The lines were incised using
straightedge into the

Rights, Laws, and Policies for Children with Special Needs
In 2006 and 2007 over 6.5 million children (13.6 percent) enrolled in public schools in the U.S.
were identified as children with disabilities or special needs (Ben Porath, 2012, p. 25). Current
legislation, such as the Individuals with disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEA), is
designed to ensure these students get appropriate educationin an environment that is inclusive and
the least restrictive possible. This best environment for students with special needs is not a physical
place, but represents a philosophy to guide practitioners in supporting equity for all children
(Darragh, 2007, p. 167). The equity does not mean that every child gets the same thing, but that
each individual gets what is needed to be successful in school. There is, to some extent, a paradox.
Students with special needs must be treated as individuals so their specific challenges can be
addressed, and yet they must also be considered part of the mainstream to have access to that
which is afforded the majority of students. Satisfying the mandates on both sides of the paradox
requires sensitivity, skill, and understanding of laws, policies, and the rights of the individuals
involved. There are four laws in the U.S. that are important to understand as they relate to children
with special needs: Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; Family Educational Rights and
Privacy Act (FERPA); Individuals with Disabilities Education Act(IDEA); and the Elementary and
Secondary

Critical Decision Making Essay
Often times in critical decision making, if you are stressed or under the effects of a certain type of
stress such as acute stress it may impair your ability to make a right decision.
Almost all types of stress in everyday life can produce positive and negative effects regarding
cognition. It recently has been shown that acute stress can impair decision making while you are
under risk. This is where performing a parallel executive task, also known as a riskier decision
comes into play.
In order to better understand the effects of a combination of these two circumstances, a group of
scientists conducted an experiment with about 126 people. Stress was induced to the subjects
using the Trier Social Stress Test and the controls underwent the placebo Trier Social Stress Test.
In order to collect the data the scientists collected saliva samples to assess cortisol and alpha
amylase concentrations, as indicators of both of the stress response ... Show more content on

Acute stress and a parallel executive task on their own tended to impair the subject s decision
under risk, which lead to more high than low risk choices. Weirdly enough, stressed subjects in the
parallel task condition showed decision making behavior on the same level as those of which who
were not stressed and underwent a single task. Regression analyses revealed that executive
functions moderate stress effects on decisions under risk.
This helps my research/experiment for a very solid reason it finally explains what in their bodies
makes the panic ult in a competitive game. An ultimate ability is a move that a player builds up
overtime and is very devastating, but sometimes when a person is about to die they use their
ultimate on their own without the team there to back them up. This often leads to nothing but
frustration, because their team was going to use their ultimate so it benefited the whole team not just

Gifted Program Research Paper
Debriefing the interview responses from our county AIG coordinators proved to be enlightening.
There were many points of commonality between their evaluation of our gifted program, and my
own personal evaluation, but there are also points of contradiction. One particular point I agree
with is that a major strength of our gifted program is that our district is diligently working to
improve the program, within our capabilities. We are of course, limited by financial resources and
time, of which our coordinators have little control. In an attempt to be more responsive to the needs
of our district, and more inclusive, in 2016, our district adopted a new identification process for the
gifted program that included three different pathways to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only way to have an alternate aptitude test administered in DCS is to seek private testing
with an educational psychologist, to the tune of approximately $1,000. This puts a large
majority of the underrepresented at a distinct disadvantage as well. Not to mention, the irony!
We are testing so we know how best to differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of
our students, yet we don t differentiate the testing? Another weakness stated by our coordinators
is lack of teacher training, and it is also mentioned that we are focusing our professional
development as a district, on differentiation. Yet here we are, giving everyone the same test, even
if we know it s not in their best interest. All students who qualify and are identified are provided
services on an Individual Differentiated Education Plan (DEP). These DEPs are also intended
to provide social and emotional support goals for gifted students, but I don t believe I ve ever
seen a single DEP with one of these goals. Overall, our district continues to make great strides,
and genuinely needs to make many more to address the weaknesses of our AIG program. We
have a good amount of resources at our disposal in the county for our gifted population. The most
important resource for any gifted program is personnel, and it is our biggest resource weakness.

Making the Public Aware In 2013, there were about 3,200 deaths due to distracted driving. But,
people decided to make the public aware of these statistics by creating advertisements. So, when

descriptions are based on the eye of the beholder and their views. In the propaganda poster Are we

threat. But, the irony in this is that they are fighting against an imperialistic country while they are
still imperialistic as well. This document has several different meanings or messages that it is trying
to convey. One meaning portrayed is imperialism, that Britain has many colonies ready to help in

Essay on The Nightmare
The Nightmare
Dreams are often visions of the conscience that hold the most truth. In the novel, Cracking India, by
Bapsi Sidhwa, the narrator Lenny, has a reoccurring nightmare that contains much truth about the
state of India. In Lenny s nightmare,
Children lie in a warehouse. Mother and Ayah move about solicitously. The atmosphere is
businesslike and relaxed.
Godmother sits by my bed smiling indulgently as men in uniforms quietly slice off a child s arm
here, a leg there.
She strokes my head as they dismember me. I feel no pain.
Only an abysmal sense of loss and a chilling horror that no one is concerned by what s happening

The Indians adoption of the British culture enables the British to remain in India and this
submissiveness is shown through the metaphor of the warehouse in Lenny s dream. Gandhi also
suggests that we keep the English in India for our base interest. We like their commerce; they
please us by their subtle methods and get what they want from us (Gandhi 216). Their subtle
methods and efficient ways are described in Lenny s nightmare as the businesslike and relaxed
atmosphere. Gandhi s point is proven in Cracking India when Colonel Bharucha suggests to a
group of people that they should stop buying British salt. Dr. Manek Mody, an upper class
citizen, immediately objects because he prospers from the British presence in India and sees no
reason to stop buying their salt. Dr. Mody s failure to look past his personal profit is precisely
the chilling lack of concern about the holistic well being of India that Lenny is referring to in the
description of her nightmare. Gandhi suggests that the solution to the problem of achieving Home
Rule lies in getting to the root of the matter. He proposes that if an excess of food has caused me
indigestion, I shall certainly not avoid it by blaming water (Gandhi 215). In Lenny s nightmare, the
description of the British officers dismembering the children s limbs is obviously disturbing.
However, the underlying image of the children helplessly lying there while their supposed

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (OCD)
The final category would be those who hoard. Hoarding was once categorized as a symptom of
OCD, but has since been recognized as its own separate disorder based on evidence indicating
differences in cognitive and behavioral processing, course of illness, neurobiological basis and
treatment response (Mattina Steiner, 2016). But since the action of hoarding can be seen in many
with OCD, it is important for it to still be mentioned. Hoarders are those who have trouble
throwing anything away because of fear it may be needed or become useful in the future. These
objects can include anything and everything, including used paper napkins, useless gadgets or even
rotten food. These items eventually pile up and grows bigger and bigger until their... Show more

Furthermore, it is also only used on those with OCD so severe they are unable to function properly.
In other words, this form of treatment is the last resort. Psychosurgery is a medical procedure that
is conducted on the patient s brain. First, it is important to know that those who have OCD have an
abnormality or overactivity in their anterior cingulate gyrus. The cingulate gyrus is a component of
the limbic system and is involved in the processing emotions, behavior and regulation of autonomic
motor functioning. So because of that, the goal of the surgery is to stop the anterior cingulate gyrus
from its activity in the patient, which in theory will be able to allow the patient to function
normally again. This surgery helps the patient feel less anxiety and distress. But it should be

Analysis of Robert Graves’ Story the Shout
Robert Graves story The Shout represents as a part of the book Collected Short Stories, which
was written in 1924. This is the story in which reality and unreality are closely interwoven. Even
though, this story gives a reader the creeps, it makes to think about very important things as love,
soul and fear of death.
The Shout is the story within frames of the story. That is, the narrator retells a story he heard from
Crossley in the Asylum at a cricket match. We do not know who is the narrator; therefore, we
percept the narrator as the author s second self . Thus we should believe the narrator and see the

Moreover, how to explain the fact that during the clinical death many people feel like the soul is
leaving the body, and they may have a look at themselves from the another side, or see the dead
relatives, or see the wonderful and pleasant light. Even though this process cannot be clearly
explained by medicine, with Graves explanation of the soul whereabouts these visions are
impossible.
Why did the author describe souls as the stones? Rachel says that there may be more sense in a
stone, more sensibility, more sensitivity, more sensibleness, than in many men and women .
Probably Graves wanted to point out that such a sensible notion as human s soul is becoming more
rough and crueler. Nonetheless, human s soul is becoming more vulnerable. Graves emphasizes it
by the braking of the stone which holds Charles soul.
Another instance of using symbols in this story is the horror shout which can be produced by
Charles. As I understand, the main idea is that the shout is the synonym to death. People are
afraid of death; however, they always were interested in what happens after death and are tended
to reveal mysteries. Similarly, Richard is afraid of the death; nevertheless, he insists on hearing
the shout. Finally, Charles gives up: As you wish, but I have warned you what a shout is . As a

Downtown Cleveland Industry Analysis
Like many Midwest cities, Cleveland came of age during the rise of American industry. The city

Durham Cathedral Essay
Durham Cathedral Durham Cathedral is one of the oldest examples of Romanesque architecture
present in England today. Although the cathedral was completed in the early 12th century there are
signs of Gothic architecture present due to the close relation of Romanesque and Gothic styles. In
Robert Scott s book The Gothic Enterprise he discusses how the early Gothic style pulled heavily
from the Romanesque style of architecture and built upon it s basic themes. Durham Cathedrals
extensive history shows how the church s style of architecture remains mainly Romanesque, but has

The Cloister, on the south side of the Cathedral, was begun at the same time as the
Cathedral but contains much work from the 15th century or later. The College, the name given in
Durham to the Cathedral Close, is a quiet area on the south side of the Cathedral.
It is the home of the Cathedral clergy and others associated with its life, and of the
Chorister School, a co educational school where the Cathedral choir boys are educated.
Many of the buildings surrounding the Green originated in the Middle Ages, and entry is gained
via the medieval gate house which is still locked every night.
The Reformation was a watershed in the Cathedral s history as it brought the dissolution of the
Priory and its monastic community. The monastery was surrendered to the Crown in December
1540, thus ending hundreds of years of monastic life at the
Cathedral. In January 1541 the Cathedral was refounded, the last Prior became the first
Dean, and twelve former monks became the first Canons. Much valuable information about life in
the Cathedral in the period immediately prior to the dissolution can be found in a 1591 work,

The optimal capital structure minimizes the firm s composite cost of capital and saves money for

If you understand the phases you are more likely to understand why you feel that way and why
you are going through what you are going through. There are five stages of grief. The first stage is
denial. In the denial stage you think this cant be happening to me . The second stage is anger. In
the anger stage you think why is this happening and who is to blame ? Third step is bargaining.
When bargaining you think if this does not happen than I will do this or so Fourth step is
depression. In this step you feel too sad to do anything. The last step of grief which is the
hardest is acceptance. Acceptance does not mean you are ok with what happened but you are at
peace with it and ready to continue your life. Grief is a common and normal process of reacting
to the loss of a loved one. Common grief emotions are: Feeling emotionally numb, unable to
believe the loss happened and mourning along with depression. Along with the stages of grief

In the cervical cancer cell, VEGF and interleukin 6(IL 6) are commonly found. IL 6 is used to

building activities off the water, which has ultimately made the team stronger than ever in its
overall chemistry, disregarding just our skills and knowledge of the sport. Tuck also knows

allowing him to interact with both his students and us much more easily than other teachers. His
ability to unite all of the team members enables our success overall to have reached our current

The Lightning Thief Book Vs Movie Analysis
Books are often the inspiration for popular movies. However, people who love to dwell in a
book find themselves frustrated while watching the movie verse. When people read the book, they
create their own little movie in their minds. People use their imagination to make sense of many
parts of the book. When they watch the movie they are often discouraged since it doesn t match
their expectations. Books can easily project ideas to the reader that movies cannot. It is
challenging for a movie to follow a book precisely because it would be too much to sit through and
watch. Therefore, many scenes are cut off. Scenes that is effortless to imagine but tough showing.

involves. It s so interesting how a God betrays his own family, for power and desire of war.
Comparing it to the movie, Percy gets confronted by Luke and Luke confesses he is the main
villain. The twists and turns in the book lure me closer than the movie s plot. It makes sense as
to why the movie director wouldn t involve Ares character in the movie. That would involve
more running time to explain the concept the book expressed. Also it would take more effort to
find a person fit enough to portrait Ares character. This is why the book is a better choice; it was
able to express such concept in a couple of pages. For a movie, it would give the production crew

Essay about Religious Paths
Religious Paths
While examining different religious paths within Hinduism from the perspective of four patterns of
transcendence (ancestral, cultural, mythical and experiential) it is interesting to see how each
pattern found its dominance over four segments of Hinduism: Vedic sacrifice, the way of action, the
way of devotion and the way of knowledge.
When Hinduism originated as a religion it was mainly concerned with sacrifices for ancestors. The
sacred texts called the Vedas on which Hinduism was based were the main root of the many
different branches of Hindu philosophy. The Vedas originated around 1400 1200 BC. They
consisted of several different documents, the oldest of them called the Rigveda. The Rigveda is

Eventually the attempts of the Vedic texts to satisfy people s need to have contact with the sacred
reality have become insufficient. Even though the sacrifice was a way to
3 control the cosmos and insure well being in the world of ancestors, it did not provide the
means of liberation from the realm of maya: reality which Hindus lived in but thought of it as an
illusion. Following the age of Vedas people of Hinduism looked for happiness through the way of
action. The way of action could be very well considered an example of cultural transcendence. The
main doctrine of such philosophy told that one must do all the tasks presented to him/her by the
place in society and social status; and the result of such rightful life would be the rebirth into a
better social position.
With time the way of action philosophy became less satisfactory for its followers, since it seemed
to lack the total liberation from the infinite cycle of death and rebirth.
As Hindu religion became more complicated and people began to look for total liberation from
the circle of death and rebirth the segment of Hinduism known as the way of devotion came into
existence. Followers of the way of devotion based their beliefs on the myths about gods such as
Shiva, Vishnu and Krishna. These gods were believed to be a manifestation of ultimate reality.
Believers in the way of devotion were supposed to worship their god through sacrifices and rituals
devoting their lives to the belief

Dog Guard Dog Research Paper
The day I got my dog may have been the utmost prosperous day of my young life. We had always
had pets, but none of them were ever truly welcomed into our house. Any pet of ours previously
was only home on grill nights, a break from their duty as a guard dog, or they were left to live in a

our minds off of what happened, so we started looking into adopting another dog. The year of
2013 when Bane left landed on the same year that I became an only child within the house. Both
my sister Shayla and my brother Dustin had moved out of the house and living their own lives. I

Mass Conservation Within a Ziplock Bag
Question
Does a controlled (closed system) Ziplock bag experiment demonstrate the Law of Conservation of
Mass?
Claim
According to the Law of Conservation of Mass inside a controlled system, mass cannot be created
nor destroyed, only transformed. This statement is accurate, however, a human error occurred when
I performed this experiment. According to my data in the Ziplock bag experiment, the information
I collected did not support the Law of Conservation of Mass.
Evidence
Throughout the Ziplock bag experiment, the Law of Conservation of Mass was present in 50%
of the ten groups ( five out of the ten groups). To collect the mass of everything, the first direction
was to take the mass of the materials used in the experiment. For the Law of Conservation of Mass
to be activated, the Ziplock bag needed to be closed. If a gas was to be formed, no mass would be
created nor destroyed because in a closed or controlled system nothing is able to escape. Based
on the four pieces of data I collected in my data table, the mass of 75% of my data before and after
the experiment stayed the same. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

human error. For an explanation of why the mass was changed could be as easily explained as
not closing the Ziplock bag or not measuring the materials exactly. When I performed this
experiment, I did not add the correct weights together. Therefore, this resulted in the before and
after mass to not be equivalent and not following the Law of Conservation of Mass. For the 50%

throughout the entire experiment. For example, Brooke and Lily s mass of their reactants was 32.3

Women s Rights During The Civil War
Falling within a timeline of political and social inequality, the American Civil War came at a
key time to change the women s rights landscape. The period leading up to the Civil War,
however, did not see a society ready to change, and thus, little work was done towards the
women s rights movement. According to Women s Civil War History author Mary Elizabeth
Massey, women s rights activists before the Civil War were small in numbers, but opinionated
(qtd in Hall 1 2). Dogmatic women s rights activists were stuck in a world that deemed women as
inferior, which created a society ripe for change; change that would make significant headway
during the Civil War through the creation of the female run United States Sanitary Commission.
The USSC was a civilian operation unlike any other that aimed to coordinate supplies, relief, and
medicine during the Civil War while simultaneously empowering women to leave the domestic
sphere. Founded in 1861 and staffed with at least 3,200 paid female nurses and hundreds of
additional volunteers, the USSC was, according to the Commission itself, a grand system of
sanitary care and succor, (Williams 136, The USSC iii). However, societal views did not change
overnight as the women of the USSC worked throughout the war and into the years after to erase
the gender divide. Overcoming considerable opposition to its creation, the USSC mobilized women

Australian statistics say that for every suicide completed there are 30 that have attempted. It is
good to know the warning signs of suicide for risk management and suicide prevention. When
people have suicidal thoughts you may hear them saying things like, life isn t worth living ,
everyone will be better without me , I cant deal with this anymore , I would be better dead or
nobody understands me ; if you hear people saying a few of the following you should definitely
look deeper into it. Suicideis the most serious symptom of server depression, warning signs of
depression/suicide would be sad moods, change in persons weight or appetite, loss of interest
the feeling of worthlessness, thoughts of death and self destructive behavior e.g. self
medicating. When coming across these symptoms it is best to ask clear and direct questions, it
may seem hard to bring the topic up; but it is best for the client to know that someone does care
and is noticing. Some conversation starters you can use are I have been feeling concerned about
you lately , I just wanted to see if everything is okay, you haven t been yourself lately when client
tells you how they feel you should go deeper by asking when they started feeling the way they do,
how can I support you. You must be supportive and let them know that they are not alone that we
are here and that they wont feel like that forever.
There is always something that lies behind the thought of suicide, no one wakes up in the

Personal Narrative-Defining Moment
Ms. Napholz made us write these paragraphs on someone we have memories with. So, I decided
to chose you since we have so many awesome memories together. I know that you will think this is
very lame but I had to chose someone. Hopefully you will enjoy revisiting some of these moments
we had together.
About 5 years ago you were snowmobile racing, and you were doing super good until you
crashed. You were racing with Dalton. I remember it was very cold outside and it was in early
January. It was one of the last races of the night; you went off the edge of the track. The
snowmobile went as high as the light fixtures; it was terrifying. Everyone ran over to you to check
and see if you were okay. The medics arrived and took you in an ambulance to the nearest hospital.
The doctors said that you had broken 5 vertebrates and shattered your tailbone. You were on bed
rest for many months but ended up having a great recovery.
The first maybe 12 years of our lives together you were pretty mean to me. You would make wait
3 feet behind you for the bus, wait to get inside, push me in the snow, and overall just harass me.
These are just a few of the hundreds of ridiculous, cruel things I had to deal with. However, I
believe this made us closer. Now we get along great and I don t know where I would be without
you. You ve made me a stronger person and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, we went inside and you went into Mom and Dad s room. I was sitting on the bed waiting for
you when all of a sudden our front door opened and a random man walked in. Our dogs went
berserk and I ran to you out of fear. We went into the bathroom and locked the door. The
mysterious man shook on the door handle and was trying to get in. We called our parents but they
didn t answer. Eventually our Grandma got ahold of our Dad and he came rushing home. The
police showed up and questioned you and I, however; the man was never

F For False Movie Analysis
F for Wellesian Orson Welles had a long career full of unexpected rises and falls that was marked
by his personal desire to wow audiences and habitual straying from conventional means of
entertainment. From his The War of Worlds broad cast that caused audiences to fear for their lives,
to his performance in The Third Man, Welles strove to be memorable and invite audiences to rise
to his standards of entertainment. He fancied himself a magician; a theme that helped progress his
1973 filmF for Fake. Starting with his explosive youth into his last years, Welles accumulated
several habitual stylistic and narrative devices. Even as his films diversified his stylistic themes
continued to be common throughout, and the release of his questionable documentary in last
portion of life proved to continue this trend. F for Fake is a collage of material that created a
unique form of entertainment for the time. It is constructed in a way that does not point directly to
a single theme or central character.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Early in the film the editing is shown in a flurry of confusion with only Welles s voice providing
a strong grounding point. The film is seemingly built before the audience s eyes, and de Hory
and Irving interact on a personal level without being physically co present. Welles then asks the
audience to consider the relationship of the biographer (Irving) with his subject (de Hory). At
this point Irving becomes the main focus and de Hory as his mentor. The fluidity come not from
the stories the men tell, but Welles s guidance of the two. His stability and power allow him to
be an expert on the matter, and like he has done with other characters in the film, Welles
questions the validity of an expert. If an art officiant can verify a forged painting by de Hory as a
Modigliani, then how can Welles be accepted as a truth teller? Welles shifts from the all knowing
narrator, to a forger and main

Research Paper On Penguins
Describe:
The Emperor Penguin lives in Antarctica on the Antarctic ice surrounded by very cold water. They
are the largest Penguin to live with an average height of 45 and weigh on an average of 66lb. They
are also considered the most beautiful of all penguins that live right now. The Emperor Penguinhas
big heads, thick necks, wedged shaped tail, and tiny flipper like wings. They feed on fish, squid,
krill, and cephalopods where they catch it by diving into the ocean up to 700 feet. They remain
under the water for about 18 minutes while finding food. Both male and female penguins look
very much alike with the same colors and same size. To identify them, you would have to check
their behavior to see which one is a male or female. The female ... Show more content on

Most of the penguins form new pair bonds each year, which means that they mate with another
penguin each breeding season. There is a study that says only about 14.6% pair of penguins stay
with the same mate each year. The male penguin arrives to their nest before the female penguin
does. Since there are more female penguins than male penguins, there will be major competitions
to get a female. To attract females, the male penguin will stand still, put their head on their
chest, inhales, and give out a courtship call. They keep this position for a few seconds before
moving to another position. To nest, both penguins travel to a colonial nesting area at around
March or early April and lay a single egg in May or early June. The single egg weighs about 460
or 467g. Once they lay an egg, the male penguin is in charge of incubating the egg while the
female penguins go back to an area to obtain food. The job of the male penguin is to keep the
egg protected from any danger and they also have to keep the egg between their legs so that it
can be warm. If the egg is exposed to the cold, the egg and baby penguin will die rapidly due to
the severe temperature of the Antarctic. It takes about 64 days for the egg to hatch and the age of
the fledging is about 150 days. Once the egg hatches, the female penguin comes back from bringing
food to the nesting area. The male penguin has been fasting for

Basic Chiropractic Advertising Strategy Essay
Basic Chiropractic Advertising Strategy
Every growing practice needs a steady stream of leads and new patients that not only generate
revenue, but help advance your practice through word of mouth. It is essential to clearly define
your practice on all advertising materials and during consultations to help build your brand and lend
credibility to your practice.
Many chiropractors make the mistake of trying to be everything to everyone. Doing so can lead to
confusion between you and your clients and less effective treatment programs. You will find that
focusing your practice on a few specific treatments will lead to higher response rates in advertising,
more streamlined office operations, a better sense of the demographics in your area, and ... Show

By trying to appeal to everyone all at once, you lose the ability to grab someone s attention and
conquer their anxiety and concerns about chiropractic. Maximize the potential of each
advertisement by eliminating the unnecessary information and appealing as strongly as possible to
your target audience.
Over time, you can create a newspaper insert campaign for each type of symptom and slowly
build your client list the right way. In doing so your response rates will increase and you will soon
know exactly which treatments are the most lucrative in your area. This is key for future success
and can quickly put you in at an advantage over your competitors.
Do some research on chiropractic advertising to gather ideas and topics for your own marketing
materials. You can even use a competitor s flyers or promotions to help you learn about your area.
What are they marketing? What is their target audience?
A great way to start your chiropractic advertising is to design, print, and deliver full color flyers
through the newspaper. For as little as $0.10 per home you can create and distribute full color
glossy flyers. There are even companies that offer free chiropractic flyer samples when you register

Russian Famine Research Paper
Famine is something that Russia could be said to be very familiar with. Some of the greatest
tragedies Russia experienced under Soviet rule were the famines that occurred in 1921, 1932, and
1947. The scope of the devastation is still unparalleled within the country s borders and around the
globe. While the damage and hardship endured during these trying times is uncontested, their
specific causes are still held in contention.
The first famine resulted as an economic disturbance caused by the tail ends of World War I, the
1917 Revolution, and the Soviet Civil War. Infrastructure, specifically the railroads were in a state
of disrepair and were incredibly unreliable, resulting in problems involving the transportation of
food supplies across the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If this were truly the case then there would have been more than enough to feed every peasant
even if the grain was distributed poorly. This suggests that the official figures are not to be
trusted and have likely been exaggerated. It is possible that the statistics recorded were
manufactured before the actual harvest as projections for the oncoming season or biological
yields. Famine was widespread throughout the country, hitting the urban areas and countryside
extremely hard. The estimates of the harvest must have been extremely exaggerated because the
death toll was skyrocketing and many of the typically favored peoples (the industrial workers and
city dwellers) were dying from starvation also. However, just because starvation and disease was
rampant does not mean that everyone suffered equally. The death toll in the Ukraine in particular
was abnormally high. Some of this can be blamed on the still harsh requisitions taken from the
Ukrainian peasants. One of the major differing points in the treatment between the Ukrainian
peasants and other Russian citizens involved emigration. The desperate living conditions brought
peasants to the cities and urban workers to the countryside all in search of food and a more stable
life. For the first time since the tsar was in power internal passports were given to Russian citizens.
They were able to relocate to find better prospects for themselves

Jovian Planets Research Paper
I would have to say that the atmospheres of Jovian planets and the atmospheres of terrestrial planets
similar because they are all part of the same primordial solar nebula. Another similarity is that, they
both move around the Sun at an angle orbit with changing eccentricities. Despite the fact, the Jovian
and terrestrial planets differ in structure, they both have a solid core which in turn makes the cores
of the terrestrial planets are larger than the cores of the Jovian planets.
The textbook defines Jovian planets as the Jupiter like planets Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
These planets have relatively low densities (Lutgens Tarbuck, 2011, pg 430). The atmospheres of
the Jovian planets in our solar system are made mostly of hydrogen

Arthur Miller the small town of Salem, Massachusetts is ravaged by lying, greed, and corruption.

town by spreading lies and rumors that people in the town are practicing witchcraft just so she can
get her way. In the play Abigail tells the other girls to lie in court and accuse people of Practicing

Alfred Hitchcock Use Of Suspense Essay
Alfred Hitchcock uses omission to set up suspense and a feeling of skepticism for the viewer.
Lighting, dialogue, and distance all are tools Hitchcock employs to aid in his omission of certain
details. The main asset Hitchcock exploits is the distance L.B. Jeffries is trapped at in comparison
to where the real drama takes place for much of the film. This distance leaves the viewer feeling
perturbed.
Hitchcock utilizes the distance between Jeffries s window, through which most of the film is
shot, and the actions taking place in the apartments all the way across the courtyard to hide the
dialogue between the characters. Jeffries is unable to leave his apartment and since the camera
does not either, the viewer is rendered just as impotent as him. Hitchcock makes it clear that Mr.
Thorwald is on the phone and from the attention drawn to him the viewer is led to believe that
what he is saying could lead to the discovery of what happened to his wife. The aspect of this
scene that adds suspense is the dark lighting making it impossible to see what he is saying. ... Show

Another consequence of Jeffries limited mobility is the paucity of sight. Hitchcock focuses in on
specific objects or moments implying their importance, but then gives no further information to
the viewer. When the men come to move the trunk the only information given is its relative size,
the caution with which it was packed, and Mr. Thorwald s desire to have it taken from his home.
Hitchcock omits what is in the trunk or where it is going. The viewer is then left to their
imagination to decide what it could possibly contain. Another aspect of the film omitted by limited
sight is what is happening with Mrs. Thorwald s jewelry. The viewer is able to see that the jewelry
was left behind, but any indication of what this actually means is left up in the

Essay on How Humanism Transformed Individuals Role
Throughout time an individual s role in which he fits into society has changed. One of the most
noticeable changes in an individual s role in society occurred during the Italian Renaissance during
the 14th and 15th centuries with the introduction of Humanism. Humanism gave birth to the
concept of individuality a notion which is still alive today. It said that humans mattered and that
now mattered, that one should not be part of a whole but rather someone that is unique. Before
Humanism people only thought of the after life, of whether they were going to heaven or hell, but
with the introduction of Humanism people became more involved in the present, rather then just
thinking of what happened after you died. Humanism transformed... Show more content on

They were also encouraged to study ancient societies such as the Greeks and the Romans, believing
this was the remedy for the present society. Humanism also encouraged people to help their society
by combining the talents. An example of that can be found in Florence where three humanists
served as chancellors of the city. Coluccio Salutati, Leonardo Bruni, and Poggio Bracciolini used
rhetorical skills to encourage Florentines to revolt against the aggression of Naples and Milan. Both
Bruni and Poggio wrote flattering histories of the city. Leon Battista Alberti, another accomplished
humanist scholar, was a noted Florentine architect and builder. They were encouraged to combine
their skills in history, art, and literature in their every day lives. This made them see the world with
a different perspective, which made them into the individuals they aspired to be. Another change
that occurred during the Italian Renaissance was the artistic perspective of this world. People were
no longer painting two dimensional art, and non logical portraits. A new technique, chiaroscuros a
technique that involved light and shadows, gave their paintings more depth and a realistic imagery.
They also made their paintings more realistic by making the objects relative to one another. They
emphasised emotions and belief in a universe full of harmony. By encouraging

Middle Passage By Charles Johnson
The book Middle Passage by Charles Johnson tells a story about the triangular slave trade which
took place early in America s history. This book was written with such close attention to detail
that it gave the reader a sense of what life was like on board a slave boat. Johnson s writing style
included many different techniques including the use of varying structure, imagery and language.
All of these devices helped create a very successful story about slavery.
This book tells the story about Rutherford Calhoun. He is a newly freed slave and finds himself
in New Orleans. This is where he meets Isadora, a sweet and loving school teacher. She soon
falls in love with him and wants to help him. She talks about marrying him and it scares him. He
tells her that he will never get married. Rutherford meets Squib at a bar and learns that he is a
cook on board a slave boat. He gets on board and they allow him to stay. The rest of the book tells
the story of what it was like on board. The boat carries 40 Allmuseri tribes people from Africa
who are treated poorly. Their culture is taken from them along with everything else. The slaves
plan a revolt against the captain, and they gain control of the boat. Bad weather, destroyed the
boat and everyone is thrown into the ocean. Rutherford and a few others are rescued by another
ship. He soon find out the Isadora is on board. Because of his long journey at sea, he is a changed
man. Isadora and Rutherford get back together, and live

  • 2. Descriptive Essay On The Shore Venture Down The Shore If The shirt before the shirt , GTL , and DTS sound familiar then you were an MTV Jersey Shore fan, a reality show set at Seaside Heights, New Jersey. Although The Shore, which is a local term for the New Jersey Shore, has a reputation for being trashy, especially after the show, it is actually a family friendly vacation spot. Considering that it has a clean beach, an amazing boardwalk with an amusement park and water park, quaint shops, and iconic landmarks, it is no wonder that the New JerseyShore is a favorite summer vacation spot. When I was a teenager, my family took a vacation on the east coast. I was fortunate enough to have cool parents that let the teenagers pick some places to visit. Since we were all fans of the Jersey Shore show and so close to New Jersey, all the teenagers begged to go to The Shore . I expected it to be a cool, hip place with the MTV stars all around. The Shore looks similar to other beach cities. It has a calm, relaxing feel to it. It has the beautiful, blue skies and ocean breezes. It has sunbathers, surfers, boogie boarders, and beachcombers. However, there is a fee to go on the beach in addition to the parking fee, which was a surprise for us, but it is The Shore . The beach is clean with white sand and blue water. Unlike California beaches, it is usually not crowded (probably because they charge people). There are places to rent snorkeling gear and boogie boards. The excitement comes from the boardwalk. It ... • 4. Energy Deregulation Essay What is energy deregulation? Energy deregulation is the breakup of the utility monopoly in 35 states. Currently only 11 states allow full deregulation which allows consumers and businesses to choose their own electricity and gas providers. Energy deregulation is very similar to the AT T divestiture back in 1984. Consumers businesses were bound to AT T for their local and long distance services regardless of cost. The break up of AT T to Bell companies allow consumers to choose providers such as MCI, Sprint, and other telecommunication companies which allowed increased competition. Energy deregulation will do the same; however the PUC (Public Utilities Commission) of each given state is cautious of the breakup to prevent another Enron catastrophe. Also consumers need to make sure what agreement they sign as contracts are usually determined by fixed and variable rates. Also do not confuse energy deregulation with alternative energy or renewable energy, energy deregulation simply means shopping for electricity gas services through the open market. Energy deregulation has been adopted by many states over the past several years as a way to allow for multiple energy providers to compete for customers based on price and a higher level of customer service, break the utility monopoly into separate companies or business unit that separate the monopoly ... Tabula rasa is the absence of preconceived ideas or predetermined goals or a clean slate as stated in the dictionary. Unbroken by society the creature was not a monster. It was the responsibility of Frankenstein to influence and guide the creation to greatness and productivity but as the creator abandoned him, he was all alone on the search of knowledge. As the creature yearned to be enlightened, he discovered a series of booksand those of his protectors which led him to the path of destruction and revenge. One of the first books that the creature learned from was Volney s Ruins of Empires. The creature learns about the science of letter from this bookand it opened a wide field for wonder and delight. He studied ancient ruins, taking notes in secret code (King 24), most likely about the three architectural orders: Dorian, Ionic, and Corinthian (King 26). • 9. Importance Of The 10th Amendment The United States Constitution is the founding document of the current system in the United States of America. The Constitution establishes the powers of the different branches of the government, as well as creates the different laws of the land. Anything written in the Constitution or in its amendments becomes part of the supreme law of the United States. As such, the Constitution and its amendments, is the most important document in the land. With this being the case, it is important for Americans to know about the amendments, and one of the most important amendments in the Constitution is the 10th amendment. The 10th amendment is an extremely important amendment that was necessary to help ratify the Constitution. The 10th amendment says: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people (Cornell Law School). This amendment is essentially saying that any powers that the Constitution does not expressly give to the federal government, those powers fall to the state governments. This means that certain government entities not outlined by the Constitution, such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) or the Department of Education, which provide more power to the federal government, are in violation of the Constitution. These bodies are allowing the government more power than the Constitution provides them. This overstepping that these government agencies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Analysis Of Interior Of The Pantheon, Roman By Giovanni... Interior of the Pantheon, Rome (1734) is a remarkable painting by Giovanni Paolo Panini who is best known for his prospects on Rome in which he focussed on the city s famous sites. His works largely have a fancy and unreal adornment feature of capriccio themes. The Pantheon is a former Roman temple which is now a church in Rome. It is one of the best preserved Ancient Roman Buildings which is also popular for the geometric wonder that it is. It demonstrates the theory of 2:3 correlation between the volume of a cylinder and a sphere. The Pantheon being one of the main tourist attractions in Rome, Panini s depiction of this architectural model is populated with a lively mix of Romans and other foreign visitors who are visiting the Pantheon to admire the marvellous architecture, chat, and to pray. Panini being a trained expert in theatrical design and architecture has provided a larger view of the interiors of Pantheon than what is possible in real from a single point. The viewpoint is intense while it faces the entrance. Panini s attempt to show the bright blue sky through the oculus in the centre of the dome just adds to the magnificence of the painting. The psychic line towards the sunlight creates a soft feeling that is not too harsh on eyes but directs the vision to the right point. The ground is a terracotta coloured layer that is reddish and contains several translucent white pigments to provide a certain depth. The lines were incised using straightedge into the ... • 11. Rights, Laws, and Policies for Children with Special Needs In 2006 and 2007 over 6.5 million children (13.6 percent) enrolled in public schools in the U.S. were identified as children with disabilities or special needs (Ben Porath, 2012, p. 25). Current legislation, such as the Individuals with disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEA), is designed to ensure these students get appropriate educationin an environment that is inclusive and the least restrictive possible. This best environment for students with special needs is not a physical place, but represents a philosophy to guide practitioners in supporting equity for all children (Darragh, 2007, p. 167). The equity does not mean that every child gets the same thing, but that each individual gets what is needed to be successful in school. There is, to some extent, a paradox. Students with special needs must be treated as individuals so their specific challenges can be addressed, and yet they must also be considered part of the mainstream to have access to that which is afforded the majority of students. Satisfying the mandates on both sides of the paradox requires sensitivity, skill, and understanding of laws, policies, and the rights of the individuals involved. There are four laws in the U.S. that are important to understand as they relate to children with special needs: Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA); Individuals with Disabilities Education Act(IDEA); and the Elementary and Secondary ... • 12. Critical Decision Making Essay Often times in critical decision making, if you are stressed or under the effects of a certain type of stress such as acute stress it may impair your ability to make a right decision. Almost all types of stress in everyday life can produce positive and negative effects regarding cognition. It recently has been shown that acute stress can impair decision making while you are under risk. This is where performing a parallel executive task, also known as a riskier decision comes into play. In order to better understand the effects of a combination of these two circumstances, a group of scientists conducted an experiment with about 126 people. Stress was induced to the subjects using the Trier Social Stress Test and the controls underwent the placebo Trier Social Stress Test. Regression analyses revealed that executive functions moderate stress effects on decisions under risk. • 13. Gifted Program Research Paper Debriefing the interview responses from our county AIG coordinators proved to be enlightening. There were many points of commonality between their evaluation of our gifted program, and my own personal evaluation, but there are also points of contradiction. One particular point I agree with is that a major strength of our gifted program is that our district is diligently working to improve the program, within our capabilities. We are of course, limited by financial resources and time, of which our coordinators have little control. In an attempt to be more responsive to the needs of our district, and more inclusive, in 2016, our district adopted a new identification process for the gifted program that included three different pathways to... The only way to have an alternate aptitude test administered in DCS is to seek private testing with an educational psychologist, to the tune of approximately $1,000. This puts a large majority of the underrepresented at a distinct disadvantage as well. Not to mention, the irony! We are testing so we know how best to differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of our students, yet we don t differentiate the testing? Another weakness stated by our coordinators is lack of teacher training, and it is also mentioned that we are focusing our professional development as a district, on differentiation. Yet here we are, giving everyone the same test, even if we know it s not in their best interest. All students who qualify and are identified are provided services on an Individual Differentiated Education Plan (DEP). These DEPs are also intended to provide social and emotional support goals for gifted students, but I don t believe I ve ever seen a single DEP with one of these goals. Overall, our district continues to make great strides, and genuinely needs to make many more to address the weaknesses of our AIG program. • 16. Essay on The Nightmare The Nightmare Dreams are often visions of the conscience that hold the most truth. In the novel, Cracking India, by Bapsi Sidhwa, the narrator Lenny, has a reoccurring nightmare that contains much truth about the state of India. In Lenny s nightmare, Children lie in a warehouse. Mother and Ayah move about solicitously. The atmosphere is businesslike and relaxed. Godmother sits by my bed smiling indulgently as men in uniforms quietly slice off a child s arm here, a leg there. She strokes my head as they dismember me. I feel no pain. Only an abysmal sense of loss and a chilling horror that no one is concerned by what s happening (Sidhwa 31). The Indians adoption of the British culture enables the British to remain in India and this submissiveness is shown through the metaphor of the warehouse in Lenny s dream. Gandhi also suggests that we keep the English in India for our base interest. We like their commerce; they please us by their subtle methods and get what they want from us (Gandhi 216). Their subtle methods and efficient ways are described in Lenny s nightmare as the businesslike and relaxed atmosphere. Gandhi s point is proven in Cracking India when Colonel Bharucha suggests to a group of people that they should stop buying British salt. Dr. Manek Mody, an upper class citizen, immediately objects because he prospers from the British presence in India and sees no reason to stop buying their salt. Dr. Mody s failure to look past his personal profit is precisely the chilling lack of concern about the holistic well being of India that Lenny is referring to in the description of her nightmare. Gandhi suggests that the solution to the problem of achieving Home Rule lies in getting to the root of the matter. He proposes that if an excess of food has caused me indigestion, I shall certainly not avoid it by blaming water (Gandhi 215). In Lenny s nightmare, the description of the British officers dismembering the children s limbs is obviously disturbing. However, the underlying image of the children helplessly lying there while their supposed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hoarding was once categorized as a symptom of OCD, but has since been recognized as its own separate disorder based on evidence indicating differences in cognitive and behavioral processing, course of illness, neurobiological basis and treatment response (Mattina Steiner, 2016). But since the action of hoarding can be seen in many with OCD, it is important for it to still be mentioned. Hoarders are those who have trouble throwing anything away because of fear it may be needed or become useful in the future. The cingulate gyrus is a component of the limbic system and is involved in the processing emotions, behavior and regulation of autonomic motor functioning. So because of that, the goal of the surgery is to stop the anterior cingulate gyrus from its activity in the patient, which in theory will be able to allow the patient to function normally again. Then, make a counterargument as to why such organisms should not be patentable. Research the issue online to develop supporting facts and arguments for each position. If you begin with a Google search of patenting organisms you will find several articles from institutions of higher education and government organizations that will present a good overview and various perspectives on the issue. • 19. Analysis of Robert Graves’ Story the Shout Robert Graves story The Shout represents as a part of the book Collected Short Stories, which was written in 1924. This is the story in which reality and unreality are closely interwoven. Even though, this story gives a reader the creeps, it makes to think about very important things as love, soul and fear of death. The Shout is the story within frames of the story. That is, the narrator retells a story he heard from Crossley in the Asylum at a cricket match. We do not know who is the narrator; therefore, we percept the narrator as the author s second self . Thus we should believe the narrator and see the story about Crossley from his point of view. From the narrator we get know that his interlocutor, Crossley, is insane and claims that... Rachel says that there may be more sense in a stone, more sensibility, more sensitivity, more sensibleness, than in many men and women . Probably Graves wanted to point out that such a sensible notion as human s soul is becoming more rough and crueler. Nonetheless, human s soul is becoming more vulnerable. Graves emphasizes it by the braking of the stone which holds Charles soul. Another instance of using symbols in this story is the horror shout which can be produced by Charles. As I understand, the main idea is that the shout is the synonym to death. People are afraid of death; however, they always were interested in what happens after death and are tended to reveal mysteries. Similarly, Richard is afraid of the death; nevertheless, he insists on hearing the shout. Finally, Charles gives up: As you wish, but I have warned you what a shout is . The Reformation was a watershed in the Cathedral s history as it brought the dissolution of the Priory and its monastic community. The monastery was surrendered to the Crown in December 1540, thus ending hundreds of years of monastic life at the Cathedral. In January 1541 the Cathedral was refounded, the last Prior became the first Dean, and twelve former monks became the first Canons. Therefore, this resulted in the before and after mass to not be equivalent and not following the Law of Conservation of Mass. For the 50% of the experiments that did represent the Law of Conservation of Mass, the mass stayed the same throughout the entire experiment. • 40. Women s Rights During The Civil War Falling within a timeline of political and social inequality, the American Civil War came at a key time to change the women s rights landscape. The period leading up to the Civil War, however, did not see a society ready to change, and thus, little work was done towards the women s rights movement. According to Women s Civil War History author Mary Elizabeth Massey, women s rights activists before the Civil War were small in numbers, but opinionated (qtd in Hall 1 2). Dogmatic women s rights activists were stuck in a world that deemed women as inferior, which created a society ripe for change; change that would make significant headway during the Civil War through the creation of the female run United States Sanitary Commission. The USSC was a civilian operation unlike any other that aimed to coordinate supplies, relief, and medicine during the Civil War while simultaneously empowering women to leave the domestic sphere. Founded in 1861 and staffed with at least 3,200 paid female nurses and hundreds of additional volunteers, the USSC was, according to the Commission itself, a grand system of sanitary care and succor, (Williams 136, The USSC iii). However, societal views did not change overnight as the women of the USSC worked throughout the war and into the years after to erase the gender divide. Overcoming considerable opposition to its creation, the USSC mobilized women through organization and work experience, changing their political standing and public perceptions of ... I know that you will think this is very lame but I had to chose someone. Hopefully you will enjoy revisiting some of these moments we had together. About 5 years ago you were snowmobile racing, and you were doing super good until you crashed. You were racing with Dalton. I remember it was very cold outside and it was in early January. It was one of the last races of the night; you went off the edge of the track. The snowmobile went as high as the light fixtures; it was terrifying. Everyone ran over to you to check and see if you were okay. The medics arrived and took you in an ambulance to the nearest hospital. The doctors said that you had broken 5 vertebrates and shattered your tailbone. You were on bed rest for many months but ended up having a great recovery. The first maybe 12 years of our lives together you were pretty mean to me. You would make wait 3 feet behind you for the bus, wait to get inside, push me in the snow, and overall just harass me. F For False Movie Analysis F for Wellesian Orson Welles had a long career full of unexpected rises and falls that was marked by his personal desire to wow audiences and habitual straying from conventional means of entertainment. From his The War of Worlds broad cast that caused audiences to fear for their lives, to his performance in The Third Man, Welles strove to be memorable and invite audiences to rise to his standards of entertainment. He fancied himself a magician; a theme that helped progress his 1973 filmF for Fake. Starting with his explosive youth into his last years, Welles accumulated several habitual stylistic and narrative devices. Even as his films diversified his stylistic themes continued to be common throughout, and the release of his questionable documentary in last portion of life proved to continue this trend. There is a study that says only about 14.6% pair of penguins stay with the same mate each year. The male penguin arrives to their nest before the female penguin does. Since there are more female penguins than male penguins, there will be major competitions to get a female. To attract females, the male penguin will stand still, put their head on their chest, inhales, and give out a courtship call. They keep this position for a few seconds before moving to another position. To nest, both penguins travel to a colonial nesting area at around March or early April and lay a single egg in May or early June. The single egg weighs about 460 or 467g. Once they lay an egg, the male penguin is in charge of incubating the egg while the female penguins go back to an area to obtain food. The job of the male penguin is to keep the egg protected from any danger and they also have to keep the egg between their legs so that it can be warm. If the egg is exposed to the cold, the egg and baby penguin will die rapidly due to the severe temperature of the Antarctic. The scope of the devastation is still unparalleled within the country s borders and around the globe. While the damage and hardship endured during these trying times is uncontested, their specific causes are still held in contention. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If this were truly the case then there would have been more than enough to feed every peasant even if the grain was distributed poorly. This suggests that the official figures are not to be trusted and have likely been exaggerated. It is possible that the statistics recorded were manufactured before the actual harvest as projections for the oncoming season or biological yields. Famine was widespread throughout the country, hitting the urban areas and countryside extremely hard. The estimates of the harvest must have been extremely exaggerated because the death toll was skyrocketing and many of the typically favored peoples (the industrial workers and city dwellers) were dying from starvation also. However, just because starvation and disease was rampant does not mean that everyone suffered equally. The death toll in the Ukraine in particular was abnormally high. Some of this can be blamed on the still harsh requisitions taken from the Ukrainian peasants. One of the major differing points in the treatment between the Ukrainian peasants and other Russian citizens involved emigration. The desperate living conditions brought peasants to the cities and urban workers to the countryside all in search of food and a more stable life. • 53. Alfred Hitchcock Use Of Suspense Essay Alfred Hitchcock uses omission to set up suspense and a feeling of skepticism for the viewer. Lighting, dialogue, and distance all are tools Hitchcock employs to aid in his omission of certain details. The main asset Hitchcock exploits is the distance L.B. Jeffries is trapped at in comparison to where the real drama takes place for much of the film. This distance leaves the viewer feeling perturbed. Hitchcock utilizes the distance between Jeffries s window, through which most of the film is shot, and the actions taking place in the apartments all the way across the courtyard to hide the dialogue between the characters. Jeffries is unable to leave his apartment and since the camera does not either, the viewer is rendered just as impotent as him. Hitchcock makes it clear that Mr. Thorwald is on the phone and from the attention drawn to him the viewer is led to believe that what he is saying could lead to the discovery of what happened to his wife. The aspect of this scene that adds suspense is the dark lighting making it impossible to see what he is saying. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the most noticeable changes in an individual s role in society occurred during the Italian Renaissance during the 14th and 15th centuries with the introduction of Humanism. Humanism gave birth to the concept of individuality a notion which is still alive today. It said that humans mattered and that now mattered, that one should not be part of a whole but rather someone that is unique. They were also encouraged to study ancient societies such as the Greeks and the Romans, believing this was the remedy for the present society. Humanism also encouraged people to help their society by combining the talents. An example of that can be found in Florence where three humanists served as chancellors of the city. Coluccio Salutati, Leonardo Bruni, and Poggio Bracciolini used rhetorical skills to encourage Florentines to revolt against the aggression of Naples and Milan. Both Bruni and Poggio wrote flattering histories of the city. Leon Battista Alberti, another accomplished humanist scholar, was a noted Florentine architect and builder. They were encouraged to combine their skills in history, art, and literature in their every day lives. This made them see the world with a different perspective, which made them into the individuals they aspired to be. Another change that occurred during the Italian Renaissance was the artistic perspective of this world. People were no longer painting two dimensional art, and non logical portraits. This book was written with such close attention to detail that it gave the reader a sense of what life was like on board a slave boat. Johnson s writing style included many different techniques including the use of varying structure, imagery and language. All of these devices helped create a very successful story about slavery. This book tells the story about Rutherford Calhoun. He is a newly freed slave and finds himself in New Orleans. This is where he meets Isadora, a sweet and loving school teacher. She soon falls in love with him and wants to help him. She talks about marrying him and it scares him. He tells her that he will never get married. The slaves plan a revolt against the captain, and they gain control of the boat. Bad weather, destroyed the boat and everyone is thrown into the ocean.
