A Contract Agreement Between People, Companies, And The...
Webster dictionary defines a contract to be a legal agreement between people, companies, etc., a
document on which the words of a contract are written and or: an agreement to kill a person for
money (Webster, 2016). A contract is what binds verbal agreements to written agreements that
can hold one or another liable for any terms that are said in a contract. Although there are written
contracts some can and can t be held liable in a court of law. There are several things that are
important for a contract to have that can be held liable. The five things are: 1. Offer, 2.
Acceptance, 3. Consideration (something of legal value given and received by each party to the
contract), 4. Capacity (mental capacity or legal ability), 5. Legality (of purpose). As one goes out
into the career field to gain employment some of those maybe entering in to regular forms
employment rather its hourly, salary an or commissioned. Others may enter into written contracts
where there maybe stipulations and circumstances that may or not take place before, after an or
during employment. Some companies such as Pepsi and Coke have stipulations that state that their
employees can t be publicly seen drinking or purchasing the competitor s product. Other such as
Frito Lay whom are an umbrella company of PepsiCo are put into a contract of the same statue.
Can these stipulations be held up in court if they are terminated for breaching their contract? The
answer would be only if the contract

Taking a Look at Frederick Banting
In the year 1891, on the 14th of November Frederick Banting was brought onto this world in a
town 60 kilometres north of Toronto called Alliston. He was the last born of five other siblings
and lived in a middle class family. Frederick Banting was an average student and had a hard time
in completion of high school. He decided to study arts, however he failed. Banting always dreamt
of becoming a doctor and in September 1912, the University of Torontos Faculty of Medicine,
accepted him as a student (Nobelprize.org the official web site of Nobel Prize). Banting took a
strong liking to the disease known as Diabetes. His studies and research, led him to understand that
insulinhas control over the metabolism of sugar in the blood (Nobelprize.org the official web site
of Nobel Prize). On the night of October, 31, 1920, Banting got an idea from a medical journal.
He believes that if you could extract the secretion made by the pancreas, then you can further
understand and advance in the treatment of diabetes ((Library and Archives Canada). Banting
made the decision of moving to the University of Toronto to reveal and discuss his idea with J.J.R.
Macleod. Macleod provided an opportunity for Banting and Charles Best (his assistant), to start the
work on May, 17, 1921 (Library and Archives Canada). Good timing and luck were the main factors
which led the Torontonian researches to announce their discovery first. This is due to the fact that
many scientists in Germany and Hungary would

Boxing The Compass
There are two major possible explanations that can trigger a sea level to rise. First, global warming
that cause melting ice in the mountain, such as mountain polar ice and glaciers ice layers, which
causing water is release into the oceans. Second, as ocean temperatures rise, the warmer
temperature expands and the sea level to goes up. In certain parts of the earth, particularly in low
lying stream areas, local land is sinking, in result of sea levels increase to higher ground. It is
worthy of mention that this theme is actually not new and probably one of the most interesting
book dedicated to this problem is the novel by Sandy Florian. Boxing The Compass by Sandy

In her book boxing the compass Sandy Florian express her deep thought and bringing her

Drugs In Society
The effect of drug in the society: The epidemic of drug in the society is at a all time high and the
society is bearing the brunt of this menace. Drug as we know is a medicine or other substance
such as alcohol which has a physiological effect when administered, ingested or introduced into
the body. These drugs are classified into licit and illicit, our emphasis is on the overall effect of
both kind of drugs on the society. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome: women who over indulges in alcohol
and other sorts of drug during pregnancy can have and adverse effect on the fetus and when this
occurs, the offspring of this mother becomes the responsibility of the state.(Glen R. Hanson,Peter

drug abuse is the medical and psychological required by the addicts due to disease resulting from
their drug habit.especially, the infectious diseases spread via the sharing of needle among addicts

contribution drug addicts and abusers who are incarcerated could have been contributing to the
growth of the economy had they been gainfully employed. Drug addicts or abuser hardly keep a

The Role Of Power And Influence Within Hereford National Bank
The case study, Who s in Charge?, reveals many lessons involving the lack of power and influence
within Hereford National Bank. Particularly, the case study focuses on James Davis who was hired
away from an investment firm by Eric Johnson, the vice president of marketing. Notably, James was
two years removed from college and, subsequently, placed in charge of the Retirement Division.
Two months later, he was jointly promoted to business developmentmanager. Due to James
inexperience as a leader and the banks inept organizational structure, his power and influence with
employees suffered. Unfortunately, the bank s failure to provide clarity of the organizational
structure crippled James ability to utilize his legitimate, reward, and... Show more content on

Subsequently as a leader in the organization, James experienced problems from employees due to
the lack of power and influence in his unstructured role within the organization and mistakes made
in his immature leadership approach.
The problems from employees persisted due to James lack of power and influence in the
organization as a leader. According to Bethel University (2011), leaders who can reward and
punish followers may have a greater capacity to influence followers than those leaders who cannot
use rewards or punishments (p. 107). As a leader and manager in the organization, James acceded to
two management positions offered by vice president of marketing, Eric Johnson, without any
clarity of his legitimate, reward, and coercive powers. Collectively, these powers would have
revealed James authority of position, ability to influence with rewards, and the ability to influence
others with disciplinary action (Bethel University, 2011). James powers and position in the
organization was realized when he asked Eric for a part time secretary. And, even more, when he
became infuriated with a supervisor after asking her subordinates (two clerks) for administrative
assistance without prior approval. The supervisor refused to assist and impolitely questioned his
ability to perform his duties and stated, ...it is your job, causing James to report the situation to Eric
(Bethel University, 2011, p. 144).

Secret Service Definition
The United States Secret Service or USSS was established by President Abraham Lincoln (1861
1865), its main responsibility was to prevent counterfeiting(an imitation intended to be passed off
fraudulently or deceptively as genuine)of money. During the presidency of Lincoln s
Administration, the bills were done by each state through banks, which made the monetary system
vere disorganized. After realizing that more than a third of the nation s money was counterfeit,
changes needed to be made in order to keep the economy balanced during the U.S.Civil War. With
the help of The Secretary of the Treasury Hugh McCulloch, President Lincoln created a Secret

The Pros And Cons Of Direct Democracy In The United States
Direct democracy is a government in which the people decide. Direct democracy overall is a
positive thing, but as with everything, there can be some dangers. Direct democracy is a form
of democracy in which the people are able to vote and form consensus on policies directly. The
people have the power of recall, which gives the public the power to remove elected officials from
office before the end of their term if they do not feel they are doing a great job. California voters
are also able to help make laws by creating ballot propositions. Propositions are ideas voters have
for new laws or changes to the constitution. Direct democracyin California started in the early 1900
s, when many citizens in California were unhappy with the state government. The citizens then
created a system of initiatives and referendums. Initiative is a proposal for a new law and a
referendum allows the citizens to vote for or against a law that the state assembly has passed....

Direct democracy is supposed to promote a cooperative community, people have the power to
speak for their opinions. It promotes civic involvement and a meaningful society where
informed decisions are not just made by the government but by the public as well. The citizens
are able to learn the important information they need in order to understand issues of the
government and laws that are implemented. In a direct democracy the people are able to feel that
their voice matters and that if the majority of the public is against a law or feels that a person in
office is not living up to what they said, they have the right to either fix the law or remove the
person from office. This feeling of a voice makes the public more willing to get involved and care

Power In Antigone And The Bacchae
Greek dramas often contained a singular view on historical ideas or people. This is demonstrated in
the two Greek tragedies, Antigone by Sophocles and the Bacchae by Euripides V. The tragedy
Antigone, critiques a Kreon who rules with fear and pride and suffers a tremendous tragedy, while
the Bacchae praises Pentheus for attempting to regain control over his chaotic city yet still suffer an
undesirable fate. Both tragedies focus on different aspects of political power. The fashion, in which
both Kreon and Pentheus achieve their title as king, demonstrates the extent of power they both
believe they contain. In Antigone, Kreon manages to claim the throne, amongst the chaos from a
rebel attack. Kreon s succession of the throne through... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With Kreon refusing to provide polyneikes with the proper burial, Kreon refused to provide
Hades of his rightful property. Antigone warns Kreon that his decision of refusing to provide the
burial will result in punishment, Since you, a mere man, imposed them have the force to trample
on the gods unwritten laws (Antigone 490 493). Antigone accuses Kreon, a mere man, of
dishonoring the laws written by the gods. As a result of denying Hades of his rights, Kreon
suffers a fate worse than death. As a payment of withholding the body, Kreon must witness the
death of his only son Haimon and accept the death of Eurydike, his wife. Kreon attempting to
protect his honor from Antigone, results in Kreon losing everything he considers important in his
heart. However, Kreon s lost results in the humbling of his personality. At the end of Antigone, he
admits, A foolish impulsive man who killed you, my son, mindlessly killed you as well, my wife
(Antigone 1500 1502). The gods punishes those who prevent them of their proper rites, and those
who allow their pride to blind their moral judgment. Although Pentheus did not have to experience
the death of everyone he loves, his family ultimately paid a high price for his

Animal Rights And The Ethical Treatment Of Animals
From Erasistratus of Alexandria to Galen, who is known as the creator of experimental
physiology, animals have been test subjects in experiments for more than two thousand years
(Day 35). Every year in the world as many as twenty two million animals are used for scientific
or medical purposes (Day 10). A variety of animals are experimented on, including rats, mice,
rabbits, dogs, cats, and primates (Day 10). Those against animal research believe the tests are
pointless (Day 10). They presume if the experiments were effective, cancer and other diseases
would be cured (Day 11). The ethicality of testing is also debated. Today, multiple animal rights
activist groups exist (Day 11). One of the most immense groups, People for the... Show more

Operations performed may include drugging, infecting, addicting, freezing and burning, radiating,
shooting, and surgical mutilation of living, healthy animals (Carryer). From 1985 to 1987, Mary
Phillips, a sociologist, studied twenty seven researchers in twenty three laboratories (Day 31). It
was brought to Phillips attention that the scientists were not administering painkillers to the
animals (Day 31). The researchers were describing the tests as painless even though they did not
provide anesthesia (Day 31). The cages in which the animals are kept are occasionally insanitary,
small, and crowded (Crupper). Some test animals do not experience the outdoors (Crupper). Their
enclosures may be kept in rooms with bright lights, inadequate ventilation, and loud noises
(Crupper). Every year, anywhere from 80,000 to 160,000 animals are put down or die from
testing ( Transparency Needed 13). A leading argument for the ban of animal research suggests the
use of alternative procedures. In 1959, William Russell and Rex Burch published The Principles of
Humane Experimental Technique (Chang 11). The book presented the three R s: reduce the
number of animals needed for experiments; refine current tests to reduce pain; and replace animals

Character Analysis of Emily Rose in a Rose for Emily
The character Emily Rose in A Rose for Emily is considered a static character because; her traits
throughout the story do not change. In the story she is deemed as quiet, inhuman and, even mad.
However, through further inspection; there are characteristics displayed throughout the story that
can possibly prove that Emily was a dynamic character. Throughout the piece Emily changes both
mentally, socially and physically.
Miss Emily, the main character of this story, lives for many years as a recluse; she withdraws
from her community to live in seclusion. No visitor had passed since she ceased giving china
painting lessons eight or ten years earlier. (pg.31) Faulkner characterizes Miss Emily s attempt to

Jesus Seminar Critique
One critique to the Jesus Seminar was the motives behind their work. The media often portrayed
the group to be comprised mostly of former Christians, attacking hardest on the group s leader
Robert Funk and cochair John Crossan. Critics went as far to describe their meetings as having the
air of a village atheists convention (Powell, 110). Such an allegation gave rise to the popular belief
that the motives of the scholars were to get revenge on institutionalized religionfor not being
accepting to them. I believe the media was too quick to judge the motives of the scholars by
attacking their backgrounds. Just because their work was controversial doesn t mean it was
subjective with underlying personal vendettas. It seems unlikely that a group... Show more content

The most rebutted aspect of the work done by the scholars was their idiosyncrasy to equate
unverifiable with unauthentic. Most scholars who study the elements attribute to the life of Jesus
stand on common ground when it comes to the realization that many of the sayings and deeds
associated to Jesus in the Gospels lack sufficient evidence to establish authenticity. However, to
many scholars insufficient evidence means an element cannot be verified, and therefore should not
be deemed as historical. In contrast, the Jesus Seminar went beyond this scope and maintained that
Jesus did not say or did not do things that cannot be authenticated by evidence. For example, it is
widely accepted that there is very little evidence to support whether or not Jesus was born from his
virgin mother, Mary. As a result, this element of his life has just been something that one would
believe on the foundation of religious faith rather than historical science. However, the Jesus
Seminar applied a post Enlightenment historical scientific view to this element in order to
determine authenticity. Under this assessment, they determined not only what is confirmable but
what also is scientifically possible. Therefore, the scholars deemed the virgin birth as non
historical, concluding that Jesus had been conceived through normal sexual intercourse between a
male and female because it fit the paradigm known today. This stance held by the Jesus Seminar
turn[s] a corner in the traditional understanding of the relationship that faith and philosophy bear to
science and history (Powell, 115). For this reason, I reject the integrity of their work. I believe
faith and philosophy should be kept separate of science and history, unless the two aim to support
one another. Rescinding concepts of faith simply because they do fall within current scientific
boundaries is illegitimate. The major flaw of the Jesus Seminar is their

Use Of Satire In The White Tiger, By Aravind Adiga

most powerful landlords around, he experiences throughout his job first hand the corruption of the

Both The Hungry Tide and The Interesting Narrative Of Olaudah Equiano are tales of sociological
hardships combined with a life bound to the sea. The ocean plays a significant role in the text
offering disempowerment to some whilst empowering others. In The Interesting Narrative the slave
trade was in full swing and a capitalist attitude heavily dominates the text, whilst in The Hungry
Tidecapitalism plays a smaller role and the humanitarian backdrop of the story is a more central
theme. In this essay I will draw into focus the various ways in which the ocean is represented as

To attempt to leave the island would likely result in death and the most fearful disempowerment
possible. Hywel Dix argues that with no money, power, or political influence, they are simply
treated as objects to be shunted from one location to another. [9] Dix is here arguing that the
weak become weaker at the hands of a greater force, which is exactly what happens to the
settlers. The ocean is therefore seen as disempowering at the hands of the powerful government
forces. This use of the ocean as a way of the strong disempowering the weak is also seen in The
Interesting Narrative. In the same way the ocean is used to imprison the settler s, the Africans
find themselves similarly imprisoned by it on board their ship. Equiano makes a direct
reference to his ship as being like a prison; I was ready to curse the tide that bore us, the gale that
wafted my prison. [10] The ocean is much like the police controlled perimeter that keeps them
captive with the looming threat of death for those who attempt to escape. Gilbert C. Klingel
supports this notion of the ocean as being like that of a prison; it is a prison without bars or cells,
the only walls are the lines of gleaming surf. [11] Much like the settlers, Equiano is powerless to
resist and is therefore kept captive by the ocean. In exactly the same way

Limitations For Safe Driving
As a teenager, getting a driving license is a long extraneous task of taking tests, reading driving
guidelines, and even taking a required class sophomore year. All of these help prepare new drivers
for the next stage of their life in transport. I personally went through all of this just a year ago, and I
have seen how it can help prepare fairly new drivers for safe driving. After getting a license there
are many limitations put on you, some only last for a few months, but others last for your whole
high school career. Limitations like these help new drivers to learn good and lasting habits, so that
they can keep themselves and others safe. Some of these laws; however, need to be updated and
more defined, so that teenage drivers learn and understand how dangerous driving really is.
One big limitation is not being able to have any passengers in the car unless they are related to
you. This is a great law, because teens can become distracted by their friends, but one things that
bothers me is this law is active for six months from getting your license, but after that you can
have friends in your car. I just think that this shouldn t be so abrupt, going from no one in your
car to a car full of your friends. I think that teens should, during their first six months, have
checkpoints in which they can slowly accumulate more people in their car and become more used
to having distractions, and being able to avoid them. I know most kids don t follow this law
anyway, but for those who do follow this law, I believe it will greatly help them become more
accustomed to driving with distracting people in their car.
Another law that I think could be more enforced is the 40 hours of driving rule. This rule is that
new drivers must drive at least 40 hours in the car before they get their license, 10 of those hours
must be at night, while the other 30 is during the day. This rule isn t really very enforced, and is
just passed by, but I think that there should be more strict rules put upon this, so that we know
that new drivers are experienced enough to drive safely. Driving 40 hours is a long time, and that
is a long time to be able to train your skills and make better habits to help your driving. If a new
driver completes

it more popular. They are not worried about competition and are only concerned with overall

The United States Presidential Election Of 2016 Essay
The United States presidential election of 2016 occurred on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. This
was the 58th quadrennial U.S. presidential election. Voters elected a new president and vice
president through the electoral college. Businessman Donald Trump and Governor Mike Pence,
running on the Republican ticket, defeated the Democratic Party s nominees former Secretary of
State Hillary Clinton and Senator Tim Kaine. The defeat, considered improbable by most pre
election forecasts, was branded by various news organizations as an upset and the most shocking
American presidential election result in history. The results of the presidential election has left
many of the American people in an uproar. Many Americans are using their right to freedom of
speech to voice their opinions and show their opposition. The first amendment gives people the
right to freedom of speech that we all deserve, but since the election has this right been taken a bit
too far with all of the violent protests, the social media uproar and the exaggerations by the media?
Although the first amendment is the key to all human rights, there is a huge threat when taken to the
extreme. Without this amendment, many thoughts, beliefs and developments would not exist today
and the majority of society would be left in ignorance. This right was given to all American
citizens and allows them to speak their opinion, beliefs, and ideas to anybody that is willing to

Ulcerative Colitis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the colon that causes inflammation and
ulcers in the mucosal lining of the colon. It often begins in the sigmoid colon and extends up into

an individual s overactive intestinal immune system, genes, and environment play a factor in the
cause of acquiring ulcerative colitis. Scientists suggested that bacteriaor viruses could provoke the

Analysis of Much Ado About Nothing Essay
Analysis of Much Ado About Nothing Much Ado About Nothing illustrates a kind of deliberately
puzzling title that seems to have been popular in the late 1590s (ex quot;As You Like It quot;).
Indeed, the play is about nothing; it follows the relationships of Claudio and Hero (which is
constantly hampered by plotsto disrupt it), and in the end, the play culminates in the two other main
characters falling in love (Beatrice and Bena*censored*), which, because it was an event that was
quite predictable, proves to be quot;much ado about nothing quot;. The pronunciationof the word
nothing would, in the late 16th Century, have been noting, and so the title also apparently suggests
a pun on the word, noting, and on the use of the word... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This attitude is reflected in Shakespeare s plays. For example, in Much Ado About Nothing, many f
the characters have Italian names (Borachio, Claudio, etc.). This is also true of some of
Shakespeare s others plays such as The Taming of the Shrew, and Romeo and Juliet. Major
Themes One of the major themes in Much Ado About Nothing centers around the question and
battle between deception and reality. One first notices of the image of deception as we witness
the masking and unmasking at the masquerade. In the play, most overhear discussions are
deceptions. It is through eavesdropping that we see the true battle between deception and
reality as we look at the subplots of Bene*censored* and Beatrice, Hero and Claudio, as well as
the comedy of Dogberry and his crew. The relationship between Bene*censored* and Beatrice is
one manufactured completely through deception on the behalf of their friends. Though the plot
to unite them was planned, many of the problems that arose were because of things that were
overheard accidentally or on purpose. In Act II, Scene 3 Bene*censored* is deceived into
thinking that Beatrice loves him because of the speech in the garden between Leonato, Claudio,
and Don Pedro. Beatrice is sent to fetch Bene*censored* for dinner, and Bene*censored* notes
some marks of love in her[Beatrice], (240 241) and he decides to take pity upon her and return her

Art is one of the few things in the world that has a different criterion for everyone. Some prefer to

Hap. Although Hap will not favour or properly interpret Andy Warhols Pop Art , he will be able to
appreciate the work that Warhol put into his art. As we begin The Soul of Capitalism , it reveals
that Hap and her wife are art lovers in a traditional way. (1) Yet, Warhol s Small Torn Campbell s

exhaustive details. Unlike Warhol s box sculpture of a Del Monte carton which lacks the
sophistication that traditional art offers. Axel is able to draw out this conclusion, and for that
reason he gives them a detailed drawing of a corn head (4) rather than one of his more abstract
and modern works. Not only does it lack tradition and a post impressionism style, but pop art

Examples Of Social Reform
Social Reform in the Eyes of social workers Change developments including religion, moderation,
cancelation, and ladies rights tried to grow vote based beliefs during the era of 1825 to 1850. In
any case, certain developments, for example, nativism and utopias, neglected to demonstrate the
American accentuation on a popularity based society. The change developments were prodded by
time of the Great Awakening the second time around, which started in England during the 1790 s,
and would in the end spread all through the nation. The Second Great Awakening contrasted that
individuals were currently accepted to have the capacity to pick if to have faith in God, rather than

Why Rome Fell Essay
I like clothes. 3 things that could go wrong with picking out outfits is colors, length/ size, or
patterns. Picking colors that match look better or if you were going to a party or celebration,
wearing a dress with 1 color is the best decision to go with. Lengths also matter, never wear
anything to short or to long for your comfort. Or if the piece of clothingis too tight or too loose.
Patterns are the most important when picking outfits, a lot like colorthe pattern(s) should match or
at least compliment each other. Just like an outfit can look ugly or messy, so can an empire.

Evidence that supports this reason is that there were 5 different invaders, 3 from asia and the
other 2 were in already in Europe. One of the 3 invaders from asia, were the Huns. The Huns were
described as ugly, ignorant, savage, wild animals, slaughter s and refuges. This contributed to why
Rome fell because that 5 different foreign invaders attacked Rome from all angles.
While the first 2 reasons were important, the primary reason for the fall of Rome was because of
natural disasters. In Rome of 366 C.E. an earthquake hit Rome and killed 250,000 1 million
citizens and not only that, the earthquake also caused a flood that killed 50,000 more people. A
total of 300,000 1,050,000 citizens/Romans killed by 1 earthquake. Therefore, this is the most
important reason for the fall of Rome.
It is true that there are other great reasons why Rome fell. For example, legal injustice which is a
quality relating to unfairness or undeserved outcomes. reference to a particular event or situation, or
to a larger status quo. In Western philosophy and jurisprudence, injustice is very commonly but not
always defined as either the absence or the opposite of justice. However, the three reasons
represented above political assassinations, foreign invaders, and especially natural disasters provide
the best explanation for why Rome finally crumbled in the 5th century

In the stories The Red Umbrella, by Christina Diaz Gonzalez and ВЁBand Aid for 800

Both stories have somethings in common, in The red umbrella one of the main problems is family

The Red Umbrella a family sends their kids to america to live a better life while the parents

German Response To D-Day Research Paper
The invasion of northern France in 1944 was the most significant victory of the Western Allies in
the Second World War. The bulk of the German Army engaged in Russia, and the Allied bomber
offensive to some Soviet demands for immediate action in the west, many British senior
commanders hoped that a confrontation in France could be delayed until Allied material
supremacy was overwhelming, or even avoided altogether in the event of a sudden German
collapse. Lessons would be learned too from amphibious assaults in Sicily and Italy, where Allied
forces put in dull performances against enemy troops of lower quality than might be expected in
France. Many were attracted to the idea of expanding the Allied thrust into the soft underbelly of
Europe, perhaps even opening a new theatre of operations in the Balkans.... Show more content on

expensive drugs used to cure the disease. The pharmaceutical companies were consistently
pressurized to take a solution out of this to provide the medicines to the victims. Survey reports

Pursuit Of Love In Aristophanes s Theory Of Romantic Love
Plato s Symposium gives us a look into how philosophers of the past viewed romantic love. Of all
the speeches given in this work, Aristophanes had one of the most interesting theories. His theory
referred to a myth in which at one point humans were very powerful. Because of these past humans
strength, the god Zeus decided to cut them all in half, forming two beings. Now, we as separated
humans are desperately trying to be reunited with our literal other half. With this myth in mind,
Aristophanes theorizes that loveis that pursuit of wholeness with our significant other. Socrates
takes a different approach when explaining his theory of love. Instead of focusing on love in the
romantic and sexual sense, as the others did, Socrates explains how love is the pursuit of
happiness. With that in mind the question is asked what, to humanity, would true happiness be
perceived as? Socrates answer: Immortality. Since immortality is unrealistic, humans must resort
to immortalizing themselves by means of creation. Whether that be by leaving a piece of
themselves behind in the form of children or a work of art, such as a book or painting. It is that
drive for eternal happiness that Socrates believes love to be. While Socrates speech mostly
avoided romantic love, Aristophanes theory primarily focused on it. From Aristophanes viewpoint,
romantic love is what one would feel toward the person who is their other half . In today s society,
many people believe that romantic love can be

Role Of Satan In Paradise Lost
In Paradise Lost, Satan is presented as the antagonist of Omnipotence, whose role is to bring evil
out of good, and whose later aim is to cause the fall of humankind (God s best creation) as a
means to find solace in making others as miserable as he is... In this essay I will analyze the
evolution of Satans character, and how the reader s perception of Satan will change either seeing
him as a hero, a poetic force, or as a personified self contradiction throughout the books I, IV, and
IX from Paradise Lost.
In Book I, Milton presents us Satan s external magnificence comparing him with creatures of

Milton presents us Satan entering as a mist into the Garden of Eden, night mists and fogs were
associated with evil and pestilence, since moist night air was supposed to have carried
contagion (Flannagan, Roy 463) As the books develop, instead of presenting Satan with a
magnanimous image, he portrays Satan as an image of decadence, for the passions that rule
Satan, such as pride, ambition, and envy are not heroic: The heroic qualities which Satan brings
to his mission, the fortitude, the steadfast hate, the implacable resolution which is founded on
despair are qualities not to be imitated or admired . (B. Rajan 107) Although Satan claims to be
free, he is the slave of his selfhood, and Hell follows him wherever he goes. We know, even
Satan knows, that God permits evil to exist because free will cannot exist without the choice
between good and evil, therefore Satan s existence cannot be seen as nothing else but as a
necessary evil, for the breach that separates him from God is so great that no reconciliation
could possibly heal it. Satan s inability to be other than he is, is the main cause of his downfall
and eternal damnation, and the loss of his splendor, hence Satan remains for the reader as a
condemned, confounded, and damned poetic force, which was presented as a hero only as a mere
illusion by Milton for the

My Fellow America Rhetorical Analysis
I don t begin my speech today with the classic introduction My fellow Americans because I am
speaking to more than just Americans today. While several stories come to mind, a multitude
share one similar to mine, coming from a mixed background into a country that has opened its
doors as a land of opportunity and a second home. Those who have built a life of significance
have often extended a helping hand to many who did not have the same prospects or success in
their own ventures. This is the unifying thread in the saga of the American epic and what I seek to
revitalize as President of the United States.
Native to all tales of America are accounts of achievement, people who took from their sweat and
labor untold riches. The path to their goal was often marred by monumental obstacles, naturally
different to every story. While my family constructed their own road for progress, I spent my time
inside and outside the classroom making the greatest mark I could in my community. My time in

Wireless Communications, The Radio Industry
With the recent surge in wireless communications, the radio industry has seen an increase in the
number of different communication standards each requiring its own specific hardware and
processing. Our project addresses the need for radio interoperability with these various
standards through the development of hardware generators for a software defined radio (SDR)
system. These hardware generators will be created using Chisel, a hardware construction
language. When given a set of parameters or constraints, the hardware generators will
automatically output circuit designs for the given application thereby accelerating the hardware
design process and introducing a new method for multi standard support. Specifically, our team
will focus on the development of generators for the system s beamforming and MIMO blocks.
For this reporting period, our team was responsible for updating our previous CORDIC block
for incorporation in the carrier frequency offset correction (CFO) block. To refresh, the CORDIC
block is simply a set of hardware efficient algorithms capable of performing hyperbolic and
trigonometric calculations without the use of a hardware multiplier. By avoiding use of hardware
multipliers, the CORDIC architecture reduces the number of logic gates required to perform these
trigonometric calculations thereby saving significant circuit power and area in exchange for less
accuracy. The work breakdown for this task is depicted in the diagram below (see Figure 1). This

Steady Defense Business Growth The Boeing Company s defense business has been growing
steadily over the past few years. Revenues from the integrated defense system grew from $27,361
million in 2003 to $30,791 million in 2005. The defense business accounts for over 55% of the
company s revenues. Continued strong performance of this division of the Boeing Company would
counter any downturn in the commercial aircraft industry (DATAMONITOR).
Strong Growth from Developing Geographic Markets The Boeing Company has registered
strong growth in the developing markets in China, Oceania and Africa (Boeing Frontiers, Nov.
2005). For the fiscal year 2005, revenues from China grew by 87.9%; revenues from Oceania
grew by $32; and revenues from Africa grew 61.8% over the 2004 fiscal year. These regions
represent some of the fastest growing economies of the world. The Boeing Company s growing
market share in these regions would boost the company revenues of the future (DATAMONITOR).
Strategic Analysis and Choice
The main objective of Boeing s strategy is to analyze the commercial aircraft industry, to understand
the demand that is present, and to formulate a solution that will fulfill that segment. Currently, there
are only two major players in the global market: Boeing and Airbus. Boeing is widely known as the

Disadvantages Of Free Trade
First, free trade is the economic policy of not discriminating against imports from and exports to
foreign jurisdictions. Sellers and Buyers from separate economies may deliberately trade without
the domestic government applying quotas, tariffs, prohibitions, or subsidies on their goods and
services. With emphasis, free tradeis the opposite of economic isolationism or trade protectionism.
Not to mention, governments with free trade agreements (FTAs) do not necessarily disregard all
control of taxation of exports and imports. In modern international trade, hardly any so called FTAs
fit the textbook definition of free trade (Investopedia, 2017).
Correspondingly, International trade is the foundation upon which American prosperity rests. Free
trade policies have built a level of competition in today s open market that engen ders continual
modernization and leads to better paying jobs, better products, new markets, and increased savings
and investment. Also, free trade allows more goods and services to reach American consumers at
lower prices, thereby considerably increasing their standard of living. Likewise, the benefits of
free trade continue well beyond American households. Not to men tion, free trade helps spread the
value of freedom, foster economic development in poor coun tries, and reinforce the rule of law.
The national debate over trade related issues too often dis regards these important benefits (Froning,
2000).

Another characteristic that differentiate between business to business market demand and
business to consumer is that business to business products tend to have inelastic demand (Hutt
amp; Speh, 2010). This principle shows that business to business product has demand
characteristics with no correlation with price. BD had increased the price of its evacuated
blood collection tube between 1979 to 1985 from 6 cents per unit to 8 cents per unit, where as
its competitor, Terumo, a Japanese firm has kept its price at 6.5 cents per unit. However, BD
has not lost its market share, which was kept at roughly 80 per cent while Terumo had increased
its market share from 10 per cent to 20 per cent (Cespedes amp; Rangan, 1993). This change in
market share for Terumo, can be explained by other means rather than arguing that Terumo, by
keeping its price, absorbing any cost increases and inflation, has created an elastic demand like in
business to consumer. This argument is highlighted in the fact that in the market for blood
collection needles in the same period, even though both BD and Terumo had kept its per unit
price at 7.5 cents, BD market share has dropped from 40 per cent to 30 BD while Terumo doubled
its market share from 25 per cent to 50 per cent (Cespedes amp; Rangan, 1993).
Finally, a global market perspective must be taken by a marketer in business to business marketing.

Analyzing Zizek s Concept Of The Passion For Real
6.Examine Zizek s concept of the passion for the Real in relation to the events of September 11,
2001. BBC News reports on September 11, 2001 (9/11) there were multiple attacks by Al Qaeda
terrorists in America (p.1). The planes crashed into the main building of the New York City
(NY): World trade centre (WTC) and Pentagon. As a result about 3000 people died during this
event. BBC (2015) identified it as symbolic violence. (p.1). The ramifications of this event were
reported by media presenting drastic images/videos of building collapsing, fire, people jumping
off the building, etc. The media presented the video constantly over and over when the plane
crashed into the WTC (Baudains, 2013). Zizek (2002) emphasis on the imagery symbolic reality
of everyday experience as a feature of the twentieth century. Zizek (2002) applies his concept
Passion for real to critically examine the consequences of the 9/11 event. He explains Passion
for real is a desire to perceive things in a more realistic way. For him Real is what you achieve

How Cystic Fibrosis Affect The Occupation Of Rest And Sleep
Cystic fibrosis, a debilitating, genetic disease, disturbs the mucus glands of the lungs, pancreas,

girl struggling to adapt to high school life with cystic fibrosis. She spends over three hours a day
exclusively nebulizing and performing airway clearance therapy; this time does not include doctor s

Starting the day, cystic fibrosis greatly influences the occupation of rest and sleep. Nasal polyps
develop inside the nose, which obstruct breathing during while lying down (Olson, 2015). In

their phones rule their lives without most realizing it. Time and time again, people choose to

have to tell everyone else everything that is happening to them at that moment. If not themselves,
they will spend the word of news they have just received, be it humble event or unruly rumor. To

everything is revealed to all. Even about their professional live, though they are not as engaged in

Women In Sonnet 130 And The Twelfth Night
Due to this patriarchal society prevalent in Elizabethan literature, women were often seen as
dangerous. While the Twelfth Night is more obvious, Sonnet 130 is more subtle about the
dangerous woman. By describing his mistress as defying all of society s beauty standards, the
speaker s mistress is leading to the downfall of male control. Historically, women have gone to
great lengths to meet a beauty standard which men helped create and enforce since they have to
meet male standards in order to find a partner. Due to this, the speaker in Sonnet 130 is describing
his mistress as breaking out of the standard which many men interpret as heresy since she is not
putting forth an effort to conform to what men say is beautiful. Since she is unique, the speaker
loves her for that and this idea that men can love someone for not conforming is something that
would have been frowned upon in the late 1500 s to early 1600 s. Likewise, the Twelfth Nightuses
Viola to warn about the dangers of women. Since Viola was impersonating a man, she deceived
everyone in Illyria and from there, she used her position to manipulate people like Olivia and
Orsino into doing what she wanted. Men would commonly interpret Viola as a dangerous woman
because of that and also because she was stubborn and individualistic. These traits were not
commonly accepted among women in the 15 1600 s though they became more prevalent during the
enlightenment when women were gaining political power. Viola was created to

Power Of Women In The Canterbury Tales
Many medieval texts seem to focus on depicting men and their adventures fighting evil, they
nonetheless have quite a bit to say about women exerting power in these texts. The 2 medieval
works that portrays women exerting power is, The Canterbury tales: the wife of bath s tale
prologue and The Canterbury tales: the Miller s prologue and tale , both written by Geoffrey
Chaucer.
The women in these texts portray their power through sexuality. This is one of the abilities that
women can offer to have maximum power. Women are usually shown as an impotent object that
can only bare children and are expected to be mothers. Women typically are not seen as warriors or
heroes, because of the antifeminist views by men back in the medieval texts. The Canterbury tales:
the wife of bath s prologue by Chaucer is about a woman who exercises power and authority
through her instrument of sexuality towards her husbands. This woman has utter control over her
men, which proves the statement that women do exert power over men in these medieval passages.
The second passage called, The Canterbury tales: the Miller s prologue and ... Show more content

Till we be fast, and thane we wool hem shewe wel may that be prover be of a shrewel. (288 290).
This illustrates that women will hide their true self or immorality until they are married. Then
they will show their wickedness. The woman says that a scoundrel writes this. What she is
saying contradicts how she behaves. Is she believes that what the scoundrel said is a lie, then she
has no excuse to behave the way she does to her husbands, except the fact that her husbands are
henpecked. The wife also has an entertaining side of her, which is seemingly positive. The woman
already has five husbands that worship her, but she says that she would marry a sixth man if he
ever appeared. As stated in The Canterbury tales: the Miller s prologue and

The Ethics Of A Systematic Disaster Plan
When a mass casualty has stricken the nation such as the incidents of 9/11, the plane crash of a
TWA 800, or the Oklahoma City bombing; each incident involved some level of planning after the
incident took place. The planning process for managing an emergency has to take into
considerations certain factors such as the level of the devastation, what resources are needed, and
how to eliminate the likelihood of the same incident from occurring again. The basis of every
decision emergency managers will need to make revolve around ethical decisions when conducting
the planning process. Ethicsis defined as the moral principles that govern a person s or group s
behavior (Oxford Dictionary, n.d.). As it relates to first responders and... Show more content on

Will funding go to areas where there is a least likely chance of restoration or does funding go to
those areas where there is a better chance of rescue? There is an ethical duty owed to citizens
during a mass casualty especially during the decision making process because every life should
matter regardless of the cost on the local, state, or federal level. When addressing concerns for
impoverished areas, special consideration should be a concern for many emergency managers
before an incident would to hit the community (Danz, 2014).
In the realm of emergency management, there are five ethical decision making theories that are
used as a guide when developing an emergency management and preparedness plan. There theories
are the utilitarian approach, rights approach, fairness or justice approach, common good approach,
and the virtue approach. Each theory is designed with a specific end goal in mind while taking into
account the various concerns regarding funding, resources, and the rescue/recovery phases. The
utilitarian approach emphasizes on the ethical actions that provide the most good with the least
amount of harm for those affected during an emergency such as employees, customers, and the
community (Velasquez, Andre, Shanks, Meyer, S.J., 2014).
The rights approach suggests that ethical actions are done so, which best protects and respects the
moral rights of those affected. This theory focuses on the belief that humans have dignity based

Bob Zmuda is the quintessetnial sleazy Z list celebrity willing to do whatever it takes to keep

some degree of notoriety writing for Andy Kaufman, the now beloved prankster who passed away
in 1984 after a much publicized battle with cancer. Because of Kaufman s penchant for blurring
reality with fantasy, many of his most loyal fans doubted the entertainer s demise, and Zmuda,

Essay On The Seven Years War
The Seven Years War marked a huge turning point in American History, as it changed the outlook of
the British, making them branch away from their salutary neglect, and convinced the Americans for
Independence as the British started changing their way of enforcing taxes and laws. The War
changed the people s opinions in both Europe and America. Americans started to despise the
British, while the British started to resent the colonists because they did not help with paying the
war. The changes and similarities that occurred before and after the war led to a more enforced
government, as Salutary Neglect was forgotten, led to resentment towards each other as the British
thought the war debt was left to be paid by the colonists, and became a turning point as colonists
started to struggle against Britain s imperial balance of power in North America and the continuity
of Native Americans fighting for their land.

For example, during the War, Britain came to North America to help the Colonists defeat the
French and Indians. After Britain won the war, they were given lots of land from France in the
Peace of Paris including Canada, East of Mississippi River, and Florida. By gaining the land they
became one the of the greatest colonial powers in the world. However, with that much land they did
not know what to do with it, especially with the enormous war debt preventing them from spending
more money on protecting the land. Britain started to realize the war debt needs to be paid. Many
of the British thought Colonists should pay for at least some of it, but the colonists thought it was
unfair to tax them. Britain started adding new taxes, as mentioned before, which led to the colonists
resenting England. The resentment lasted for years until the United States broke free away from

There Is The Main Cause Of Ocean Pollution
Believe it or not, pollution may have been older than you have thought. Archeologists have
discovered settlements dated from between forty and ten thousand years old. Another discovery of
pollution that dates back to the old times is the lead pollution from the Roman Smelters. This type
of pollution was found all over Europe leading the Archeologists to believe that they have dumped a
vast amount of it into rivers. Although pollutionhad little effect at the time, the magnitude of
pollution started to increase when humans went from nomadic colonies to settled ones. One of the
biggest spikes in pollution occurred in the 1900 s due to the World Wars. The toxic manufactured

There are 5 known gyres that are currently in the ocean caused by ocean currents. The Great

North Pacific Ocean, including the coastal waters of North America and Japan, are joined together.
Relation to Tolerance Most people do not realize how marine animals have to tolerate with the
ocean pollution. Their main focus is on how to get rid of pollution and do not put in account for
the organisms that have to deal with it. We get food from the ocean, to be more exact nearly 200
billion pounds of fish and shellfish, we pull natural resources from it, such as salt, oil and metals,
it provides transportation, and provides a great amount of oxygen. The ocean provides so many
resources for us, being one of Earth s most valuable resources,we should take better care of it.

Essay on Cause and Effects of Smallpox
Cause and Effects of Smallpox
Smallpox is caused by the variola virus that emerged in human populations thousands of years ago.
Smallpox is a specific, infectious, and highly contagious febrile disease known only to be
transmitted by humans. It is caused by a virus from air currents which are eventually passed on
from person to person. Smallpox varies from a mild form without skin manifestations to a highly
fatal hemorrhagic form. Edward Jenner, an English physician, discovered a means of preventing
smallpox through vaccination. Gradually mass vaccination programs were introduced in many
parts of the world. Smallpox was the first disease conquered by human beings and was eradicated
by vaccination. The last known cases of naturally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Exposure to the virus is followed by an incubation period which people may not feel any sign of
symptoms. The incubation period can range between 7 to 17 days. People are not contagious
during this time period. After the incubation period, high fever, chills, severe headache and
backache, and general malaise begin to develop. Your body temperature can reach up to 106
degrees Fahrenheit. After 2 to 4 days, a rash emerges first as small red spots on the tongue and in
the mouth. The spots develop into sores which spread large amounts of the virus into the mouth
and throat. The person becomes most contagious during this phase. Soon after, the smallpox rash
appears on exposed portions of the body: the face, forearms, wrists, palms, lower legs, feet, and
soles. Usually the rash spreads to all parts of the body within 24 hours.
As the rash appears, the fever usually falls and the person may start to feel better. The rash
becomes raised bumps on the third day of the rash. The bumps fill with a thick, opaque fluid and
often have a depression in the center that looks like a bellybutton. (CDC, 2004). This is a major
distinguishing characteristic of smallpox that occurs on the fourth day. Until scabs form over the
bumps, fever often will rise

How Did Islam Spread
Islam s story, as you could probably guess, started with the prophet Muhammad. Islam first
appeared in Arabia. But what was Arabia like before Islam arose? Before the rise of Muhammad
and Islamic religion the Arabian Peninsula was originally the home to a group of nomadic desert
dwellers who were able to deal with the harsh desert climate by migrating every season. In the
fifth century BC more people groups began establishing settlements, many chose Mecca, by the
west coast of Saudi Arabia. This location did not provide a preferable climate or many natural
resources, but was the site of a large cubical shrine dedicated to various deities, this was called the
site of Ka ba.
The beginning of Islam can be traced all the way back to Saudi Arabia in the 7th century. It is
believed that Islam was actually introduced 610 A.D. (A.D. stands for the Latin phrase anno
domini, which means ВЁin the year of our LordВЁ). Muhammad introduced Islam after claiming
that he experienced what he believed to be an angelic visitation. Muhammad then dedicated the
holy book of Islam known as QurВґan. This is the beginning of Islam according to Secular History.

Descriptive Essay About Snow Angel
Snow Angel
Once upon a time, there lived a girl named Angelina whose dream was to have a chance at seeing
the world and the seven wonders it held. Perhaps, someday, she sighed, looking out her bedroom
window. For now, the one room apartment her family shared with her and someday were enough.
For years, it seemed it would always be.
But, one day, on her way back home from buying salt from the market, a goblin appeared and
strolled up to Angelina. He had a smug walk and a smile that carried malicious intent. Using his
charisma, he proposed a bargain. Suddenly, enough was insufficient.
Goblins were not to be trusted, especially those that made deals . . . but, a world of infinite
wonders for a morsel of salt seemed generous too generous. That s what she said when he asked,
but his wild tales about the ecstasy of joy he could gift to her intrigued her.
The goblin began to bounce around, and the grin on his face made Angelina envious. So, you re
turning down the mere proposition of absolute happiness compared to your dull and mundane life
because . . . the fairy tales tell you goblins play tricks? he questioned. You re smarter than that, aren
t you?
I. . . . Angelina didn t know what to say.
You haven t got much time to decide, dearie. I ve got plenty of offers waiting on the other side of
town, but I thought a lovely lass like you might need a little bit of cheerin up. His smirk
challenged Angelina. Well, I ain t got no time for dilly dallyin , he said, walking

Five Principles Of Tragedy
Discuss the principles of tragedy as defined in Aristotle s Poetics. Illustrate these principles by
examining Sophocles play Oedipus the King, in order to establish the link between the theory and
practise of tragedy. Analyse the genre of tragedy as one that reveals dilemma and paradox.
The advent of modern theater as we know it today began with the worship of Dionysus: the god of
the grape harvest, winemaking and wine, of ritual madness, fertility, theater and religious ecstasy in
Greek mythology and a weeklong competition that welcomed the Spring in ancient Greece. Many
great playwrights were introduced to the World by the means of this weeklong competition
including Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides. Sophocles is perhaps one of the pioneers of the
genre of tragedy and his plays Oedipus Rex, Antigone and Oedipus at Colonus have for centuries
inspired contemporary playwrights and theater artists to venture deeper into the understanding of
the complex idea of the individual versus fate. In this essay I intend to examine Aristotle s Poetics
and the five principles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Oedipus, Sophocles creates a character who s not only the king but, also the solver of the
Sphinx s riddle and hence, can be recognised as a man portrayed better than he would ve been in
real life: a man with an intricately defined moral compass and elevated social stature. Further
examples of Oedipus as an ideal tragic hero can be derived out of the fact that he comes from a
noble and prosperous background as he s the biological son of the Laius, king of Thebes and the
adopted son of Polybus, the king of Corinth. He also is greatly revered in the society and
respected as a very adept and benevolent king which is evident from the Priest s reference to him
as the first of men. Oedipus is also greatly worried by the Pestilence that haunts the city of Thebes
and says the following in that

Webster dictionary defines a contract to be a legal agreement between people, companies, etc., a document on which the words of a contract are written and or: an agreement to kill a person for money (Webster, 2016). • 3. Taking a Look at Frederick Banting In the year 1891, on the 14th of November Frederick Banting was brought onto this world in a town 60 kilometres north of Toronto called Alliston. He was the last born of five other siblings and lived in a middle class family. Frederick Banting was an average student and had a hard time in completion of high school. He decided to study arts, however he failed. Banting always dreamt of becoming a doctor and in September 1912, the University of Torontos Faculty of Medicine, accepted him as a student (Nobelprize.org the official web site of Nobel Prize). Banting took a strong liking to the disease known as Diabetes. His studies and research, led him to understand that insulinhas control over the metabolism of sugar in the blood (Nobelprize.org the official web site of Nobel Prize). On the night of October, 31, 1920, Banting got an idea from a medical journal. He believes that if you could extract the secretion made by the pancreas, then you can further understand and advance in the treatment of diabetes ((Library and Archives Canada). Banting made the decision of moving to the University of Toronto to reveal and discuss his idea with J.J.R. Macleod. Macleod provided an opportunity for Banting and Charles Best (his assistant), to start the work on May, 17, 1921 (Library and Archives Canada). Good timing and luck were the main factors which led the Torontonian researches to announce their discovery first. This is due to the fact that many scientists in Germany and Hungary would ... • 4. Boxing The Compass There are two major possible explanations that can trigger a sea level to rise. First, global warming that cause melting ice in the mountain, such as mountain polar ice and glaciers ice layers, which causing water is release into the oceans. Second, as ocean temperatures rise, the warmer temperature expands and the sea level to goes up. In certain parts of the earth, particularly in low lying stream areas, local land is sinking, in result of sea levels increase to higher ground. It is worthy of mention that this theme is actually not new and probably one of the most interesting book dedicated to this problem is the novel by Sandy Florian. Drug as we know is a medicine or other substance such as alcohol which has a physiological effect when administered, ingested or introduced into the body. These drugs are classified into licit and illicit, our emphasis is on the overall effect of both kind of drugs on the society. Particularly, the case study focuses on James Davis who was hired away from an investment firm by Eric Johnson, the vice president of marketing. Notably, James was two years removed from college and, subsequently, placed in charge of the Retirement Division. Two months later, he was jointly promoted to business developmentmanager. Subsequently as a leader in the organization, James experienced problems from employees due to the lack of power and influence in his unstructured role within the organization and mistakes made in his immature leadership approach. The problems from employees persisted due to James lack of power and influence in the organization as a leader. According to Bethel University (2011), leaders who can reward and punish followers may have a greater capacity to influence followers than those leaders who cannot use rewards or punishments (p. 107). As a leader and manager in the organization, James acceded to two management positions offered by vice president of marketing, Eric Johnson, without any clarity of his legitimate, reward, and coercive powers. Collectively, these powers would have revealed James authority of position, ability to influence with rewards, and the ability to influence others with disciplinary action (Bethel University, 2011). James powers and position in the organization was realized when he asked Eric for a part time secretary. And, even more, when he became infuriated with a supervisor after asking her subordinates (two clerks) for administrative assistance without prior approval. • 8. The Pros And Cons Of Direct Democracy In The United States Direct democracy is a government in which the people decide. Direct democracy overall is a positive thing, but as with everything, there can be some dangers. Direct democracy is a form of democracy in which the people are able to vote and form consensus on policies directly. The people have the power of recall, which gives the public the power to remove elected officials from office before the end of their term if they do not feel they are doing a great job. California voters are also able to help make laws by creating ballot propositions. Propositions are ideas voters have for new laws or changes to the constitution. Direct democracyin California started in the early 1900 s, when many citizens in California were unhappy with the state government. The citizens then created a system of initiatives and referendums. Initiative is a proposal for a new law and a referendum allows the citizens to vote for or against a law that the state assembly has passed.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is demonstrated in the two Greek tragedies, Antigone by Sophocles and the Bacchae by Euripides V. The tragedy Antigone, critiques a Kreon who rules with fear and pride and suffers a tremendous tragedy, while the Bacchae praises Pentheus for attempting to regain control over his chaotic city yet still suffer an undesirable fate. Both tragedies focus on different aspects of political power. Antigone accuses Kreon, a mere man, of dishonoring the laws written by the gods. As a result of denying Hades of his rights, Kreon suffers a fate worse than death. As a payment of withholding the body, Kreon must witness the death of his only son Haimon and accept the death of Eurydike, his wife. • 12. Jesus Seminar Critique One critique to the Jesus Seminar was the motives behind their work. The media often portrayed the group to be comprised mostly of former Christians, attacking hardest on the group s leader Robert Funk and cochair John Crossan. Critics went as far to describe their meetings as having the air of a village atheists convention (Powell, 110). Such an allegation gave rise to the popular belief that the motives of the scholars were to get revenge on institutionalized religionfor not being accepting to them. I believe the media was too quick to judge the motives of the scholars by attacking their backgrounds. Just because their work was controversial doesn t mean it was subjective with underlying personal vendettas. It seems unlikely that a group... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most rebutted aspect of the work done by the scholars was their idiosyncrasy to equate unverifiable with unauthentic. Most scholars who study the elements attribute to the life of Jesus stand on common ground when it comes to the realization that many of the sayings and deeds associated to Jesus in the Gospels lack sufficient evidence to establish authenticity. However, to many scholars insufficient evidence means an element cannot be verified, and therefore should not be deemed as historical. In contrast, the Jesus Seminar went beyond this scope and maintained that Jesus did not say or did not do things that cannot be authenticated by evidence. For example, it is widely accepted that there is very little evidence to support whether or not Jesus was born from his virgin mother, Mary. As a result, this element of his life has just been something that one would believe on the foundation of religious faith rather than historical science. However, the Jesus Seminar applied a post Enlightenment historical scientific view to this element in order to determine authenticity. Under this assessment, they determined not only what is confirmable but what also is scientifically possible. Therefore, the scholars deemed the virgin birth as non historical, concluding that Jesus had been conceived through normal sexual intercourse between a male and female because it fit the paradigm known today. This stance held by the Jesus Seminar turn[s] a corner in the traditional understanding of the relationship that faith and philosophy bear to science and history (Powell, 115). For this reason, I reject the integrity of their work. I believe faith and philosophy should be kept separate of science and history, unless the two aim to support one another. Rescinding concepts of faith simply because they do fall within current scientific boundaries is illegitimate. The major flaw of the Jesus Seminar is their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both The Hungry Tide and The Interesting Narrative Of Olaudah Equiano are tales of sociological hardships combined with a life bound to the sea. The ocean plays a significant role in the text offering disempowerment to some whilst empowering others. In The Interesting Narrative the slave trade was in full swing and a capitalist attitude heavily dominates the text, whilst in The Hungry Tidecapitalism plays a smaller role and the humanitarian backdrop of the story is a more central theme. In this essay I will draw into focus the various ways in which the ocean is represented as empowering and disempowering to the lives of characters looking at them as they develop through the text and contrasting their empowermentagainst that of others.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To attempt to leave the island would likely result in death and the most fearful disempowerment possible. Hywel Dix argues that with no money, power, or political influence, they are simply treated as objects to be shunted from one location to another. [9] Dix is here arguing that the weak become weaker at the hands of a greater force, which is exactly what happens to the settlers. The ocean is therefore seen as disempowering at the hands of the powerful government forces. This use of the ocean as a way of the strong disempowering the weak is also seen in The Interesting Narrative. In the same way the ocean is used to imprison the settler s, the Africans find themselves similarly imprisoned by it on board their ship. Equiano makes a direct reference to his ship as being like a prison; I was ready to curse the tide that bore us, the gale that wafted my prison. [10] The ocean is much like the police controlled perimeter that keeps them captive with the looming threat of death for those who attempt to escape. Gilbert C. Klingel supports this notion of the ocean as being like that of a prison; it is a prison without bars or cells, the only walls are the lines of gleaming surf. • 15. Limitations For Safe Driving As a teenager, getting a driving license is a long extraneous task of taking tests, reading driving guidelines, and even taking a required class sophomore year. All of these help prepare new drivers for the next stage of their life in transport. I personally went through all of this just a year ago, and I have seen how it can help prepare fairly new drivers for safe driving. After getting a license there are many limitations put on you, some only last for a few months, but others last for your whole high school career. Limitations like these help new drivers to learn good and lasting habits, so that they can keep themselves and others safe. Some of these laws; however, need to be updated and more defined, so that teenage drivers learn and understand how dangerous driving really is. One big limitation is not being able to have any passengers in the car unless they are related to you. This is a great law, because teens can become distracted by their friends, but one things that bothers me is this law is active for six months from getting your license, but after that you can have friends in your car. I just think that this shouldn t be so abrupt, going from no one in your car to a car full of your friends. I think that teens should, during their first six months, have checkpoints in which they can slowly accumulate more people in their car and become more used to having distractions, and being able to avoid them. I know most kids don t follow this law anyway, but for those who do follow this law, I believe it will greatly help them become more accustomed to driving with distracting people in their car. Another law that I think could be more enforced is the 40 hours of driving rule. This rule is that new drivers must drive at least 40 hours in the car before they get their license, 10 of those hours must be at night, while the other 30 is during the day. This rule isn t really very enforced, and is just passed by, but I think that there should be more strict rules put upon this, so that we know that new drivers are experienced enough to drive safely. Driving 40 hours is a long time, and that is a long time to be able to train your skills and make better habits to help your driving. If a new driver completes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Their primary goal is to take hockey to a next level and makes it more popular. They are not worried about competition and are only concerned with overall growth for the sport, the owners, the players and the fans. By the 1990 s there was a shift from pure hockey to a hockey experience with a variety of entertainment added to increase the appeal of the game. To create exposure, new recruitments were also made. NHL s strength lied in its strong partnerships with firms like NIKE, Coca Cola and Anheuser Busch. NHLs achieved great success with little exposure so with the right support and exposure they can grow their fan base considerably. VALUE PROPOSITION Hockey is not a tangible product to increase the popularity of which they can add or modify some features, hence complicating things a bit. This was the 58th quadrennial U.S. presidential election. Voters elected a new president and vice president through the electoral college. Businessman Donald Trump and Governor Mike Pence, running on the Republican ticket, defeated the Democratic Party s nominees former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Senator Tim Kaine. The defeat, considered improbable by most pre election forecasts, was branded by various news organizations as an upset and the most shocking American presidential election result in history. The results of the presidential election has left many of the American people in an uproar. Many Americans are using their right to freedom of speech to voice their opinions and show their opposition. The first amendment gives people the right to freedom of speech that we all deserve, but since the election has this right been taken a bit too far with all of the violent protests, the social media uproar and the exaggerations by the media? Major Themes One of the major themes in Much Ado About Nothing centers around the question and battle between deception and reality. One first notices of the image of deception as we witness the masking and unmasking at the masquerade. In the play, most overhear discussions are deceptions. It is through eavesdropping that we see the true battle between deception and reality as we look at the subplots of Bene*censored* and Beatrice, Hero and Claudio, as well as the comedy of Dogberry and his crew. The relationship between Bene*censored* and Beatrice is one manufactured completely through deception on the behalf of their friends. Though the plot to unite them was planned, many of the problems that arose were because of things that were overheard accidentally or on purpose. In Act II, Scene 3 Bene*censored* is deceived into thinking that Beatrice loves him because of the speech in the garden between Leonato, Claudio, and Don Pedro. Some prefer to judge the techniques and details within each piece, but some would rather judge the perplexity of the meaning behind each symbolism within an artwork. However, not all are divided by this fine line. Hap from The Soul of Capitalism would be a part of the third group of people, the ones that appreciate complicated techniques while looking behind the canvas to appreciate the meaning of an artwork. Comparatively, the Canadians from When Canada Met Andy had the same perspective as Hap. Although Hap will not favour or properly interpret Andy Warhols Pop Art , he will be able to appreciate the work that Warhol put into his art. As we begin The Soul of Capitalism , it reveals that Hap and her wife are art lovers in a traditional way. (1) Yet, Warhol s Small Torn Campbell s Soup Can (figure 2) is leagues away from traditional. Hap concerns himself with landscapes and seascapes, and the portraits and battle scenes (19), pieces that involve many complications and exhaustive details. Picking colors that match look better or if you were going to a party or celebration, wearing a dress with 1 color is the best decision to go with. Lengths also matter, never wear anything to short or to long for your comfort. Or if the piece of clothingis too tight or too loose. Patterns are the most important when picking outfits, a lot like colorthe pattern(s) should match or at least compliment each other. Just like an outfit can look ugly or messy, so can an empire. One important reason why rome fell was lots of political assassinations. Within 50 years and 22 roman leaders, 13 were assassinated and 5 were possibly assassinated. ... One of the 3 invaders from asia, were the Huns. The Huns were described as ugly, ignorant, savage, wild animals, slaughter s and refuges. This contributed to why Rome fell because that 5 different foreign invaders attacked Rome from all angles. While the first 2 reasons were important, the primary reason for the fall of Rome was because of natural disasters. In Rome of 366 C.E. an earthquake hit Rome and killed 250,000 1 million citizens and not only that, the earthquake also caused a flood that killed 50,000 more people. A total of 300,000 1,050,000 citizens/Romans killed by 1 earthquake. Therefore, this is the most important reason for the fall of Rome. It is true that there are other great reasons why Rome fell. For example, legal injustice which is a quality relating to unfairness or undeserved outcomes. reference to a particular event or situation, or to a larger status quo. In Western philosophy and jurisprudence, injustice is very commonly but not always defined as either the absence or the opposite of justice. The bulk of the German Army engaged in Russia, and the Allied bomber offensive to some Soviet demands for immediate action in the west, many British senior commanders hoped that a confrontation in France could be delayed until Allied material supremacy was overwhelming, or even avoided altogether in the event of a sudden German collapse. Lessons would be learned too from amphibious assaults in Sicily and Italy, where Allied forces put in dull performances against enemy troops of lower quality than might be expected in France. • 26. Pursuit Of Love In Aristophanes s Theory Of Romantic Love Plato s Symposium gives us a look into how philosophers of the past viewed romantic love. Of all the speeches given in this work, Aristophanes had one of the most interesting theories. His theory referred to a myth in which at one point humans were very powerful. Because of these past humans strength, the god Zeus decided to cut them all in half, forming two beings. Now, we as separated humans are desperately trying to be reunited with our literal other half. With this myth in mind, Aristophanes theorizes that loveis that pursuit of wholeness with our significant other. Socrates takes a different approach when explaining his theory of love. Instead of focusing on love in the romantic and sexual sense, as the others did, Socrates explains how love is the pursuit of happiness. With that in mind the question is asked what, to humanity, would true happiness be perceived as? Socrates answer: Immortality. Since immortality is unrealistic, humans must resort to immortalizing themselves by means of creation. Whether that be by leaving a piece of themselves behind in the form of children or a work of art, such as a book or painting. It is that drive for eternal happiness that Socrates believes love to be. While Socrates speech mostly avoided romantic love, Aristophanes theory primarily focused on it. From Aristophanes viewpoint, romantic love is what one would feel toward the person who is their other half . In today s society, many people believe that romantic love can be ... (B. Rajan 107) Although Satan claims to be free, he is the slave of his selfhood, and Hell follows him wherever he goes. We know, even Satan knows, that God permits evil to exist because free will cannot exist without the choice between good and evil, therefore Satan s existence cannot be seen as nothing else but as a necessary evil, for the breach that separates him from God is so great that no reconciliation could possibly heal it. Wireless Communications, The Radio Industry With the recent surge in wireless communications, the radio industry has seen an increase in the number of different communication standards each requiring its own specific hardware and processing. Our project addresses the need for radio interoperability with these various standards through the development of hardware generators for a software defined radio (SDR) system. These hardware generators will be created using Chisel, a hardware construction language. When given a set of parameters or constraints, the hardware generators will automatically output circuit designs for the given application thereby accelerating the hardware design process and introducing a new method for multi standard support. Specifically, our team will focus on the development of generators for the system s beamforming and MIMO blocks. For this reporting period, our team was responsible for updating our previous CORDIC block for incorporation in the carrier frequency offset correction (CFO) block. To refresh, the CORDIC block is simply a set of hardware efficient algorithms capable of performing hyperbolic and trigonometric calculations without the use of a hardware multiplier. By avoiding use of hardware multipliers, the CORDIC architecture reduces the number of logic gates required to perform these trigonometric calculations thereby saving significant circuit power and area in exchange for less accuracy. With emphasis, free tradeis the opposite of economic isolationism or trade protectionism. Not to mention, governments with free trade agreements (FTAs) do not necessarily disregard all control of taxation of exports and imports. In modern international trade, hardly any so called FTAs fit the textbook definition of free trade (Investopedia, 2017). Correspondingly, International trade is the foundation upon which American prosperity rests. Free trade policies have built a level of competition in today s open market that engen ders continual modernization and leads to better paying jobs, better products, new markets, and increased savings and investment. Also, free trade allows more goods and services to reach American consumers at lower prices, thereby considerably increasing their standard of living. Another characteristic that differentiate between business to business market demand and business to consumer is that business to business products tend to have inelastic demand (Hutt amp; Speh, 2010). This principle shows that business to business product has demand characteristics with no correlation with price. BD had increased the price of its evacuated blood collection tube between 1979 to 1985 from 6 cents per unit to 8 cents per unit, where as its competitor, Terumo, a Japanese firm has kept its price at 6.5 cents per unit. However, BD has not lost its market share, which was kept at roughly 80 per cent while Terumo had increased its market share from 10 per cent to 20 per cent (Cespedes amp; Rangan, 1993). This change in market share for Terumo, can be explained by other means rather than arguing that Terumo, by keeping its price, absorbing any cost increases and inflation, has created an elastic demand like in business to consumer. This argument is highlighted in the fact that in the market for blood collection needles in the same period, even though both BD and Terumo had kept its per unit price at 7.5 cents, BD market share has dropped from 40 per cent to 30 BD while Terumo doubled its market share from 25 per cent to 50 per cent (Cespedes amp; Rangan, 1993). • 41. Women In Sonnet 130 And The Twelfth Night Due to this patriarchal society prevalent in Elizabethan literature, women were often seen as dangerous. While the Twelfth Night is more obvious, Sonnet 130 is more subtle about the dangerous woman. By describing his mistress as defying all of society s beauty standards, the speaker s mistress is leading to the downfall of male control. Historically, women have gone to great lengths to meet a beauty standard which men helped create and enforce since they have to meet male standards in order to find a partner. Due to this, the speaker in Sonnet 130 is describing his mistress as breaking out of the standard which many men interpret as heresy since she is not putting forth an effort to conform to what men say is beautiful. Since she is unique, the speaker loves her for that and this idea that men can love someone for not conforming is something that would have been frowned upon in the late 1500 s to early 1600 s. Likewise, the Twelfth Nightuses Viola to warn about the dangers of women. Since Viola was impersonating a man, she deceived everyone in Illyria and from there, she used her position to manipulate people like Olivia and Orsino into doing what she wanted. Men would commonly interpret Viola as a dangerous woman because of that and also because she was stubborn and individualistic. These traits were not commonly accepted among women in the 15 1600 s though they became more prevalent during the enlightenment when women were gaining political power. Viola was created to ... • 42. Power Of Women In The Canterbury Tales Many medieval texts seem to focus on depicting men and their adventures fighting evil, they nonetheless have quite a bit to say about women exerting power in these texts. The 2 medieval works that portrays women exerting power is, The Canterbury tales: the wife of bath s tale prologue and The Canterbury tales: the Miller s prologue and tale , both written by Geoffrey Chaucer. The women in these texts portray their power through sexuality. This is one of the abilities that women can offer to have maximum power. Women are usually shown as an impotent object that can only bare children and are expected to be mothers. Women typically are not seen as warriors or heroes, because of the antifeminist views by men back in the medieval texts. The Canterbury tales: the wife of bath s prologue by Chaucer is about a woman who exercises power and authority through her instrument of sexuality towards her husbands. This woman has utter control over her men, which proves the statement that women do exert power over men in these medieval passages. Will funding go to areas where there is a least likely chance of restoration or does funding go to those areas where there is a better chance of rescue? There is an ethical duty owed to citizens during a mass casualty especially during the decision making process because every life should matter regardless of the cost on the local, state, or federal level. When addressing concerns for impoverished areas, special consideration should be a concern for many emergency managers before an incident would to hit the community (Danz, 2014). In the realm of emergency management, there are five ethical decision making theories that are used as a guide when developing an emergency management and preparedness plan. There theories are the utilitarian approach, rights approach, fairness or justice approach, common good approach, and the virtue approach. Each theory is designed with a specific end goal in mind while taking into account the various concerns regarding funding, resources, and the rescue/recovery phases. The utilitarian approach emphasizes on the ethical actions that provide the most good with the least amount of harm for those affected during an emergency such as employees, customers, and the community (Velasquez, Andre, Shanks, Meyer, S.J., 2014). The rights approach suggests that ethical actions are done so, which best protects and respects the moral rights of those affected. Americans started to despise the British, while the British started to resent the colonists because they did not help with paying the war. The changes and similarities that occurred before and after the war led to a more enforced government, as Salutary Neglect was forgotten, led to resentment towards each other as the British thought the war debt was left to be paid by the colonists, and became a turning point as colonists started to struggle against Britain s imperial balance of power in North America and the continuity of Native Americans fighting for their land. Archeologists have discovered settlements dated from between forty and ten thousand years old. Another discovery of pollution that dates back to the old times is the lead pollution from the Roman Smelters. This type of pollution was found all over Europe leading the Archeologists to believe that they have dumped a vast amount of it into rivers. Although pollutionhad little effect at the time, the magnitude of pollution started to increase when humans went from nomadic colonies to settled ones. Humans are the natural hosts of smallpox and it is not known to be transmitted by insects or animals. (WHO, 2005) Cause and Effects of Smallpox...2 Exposure to the virus is followed by an incubation period which people may not feel any sign of symptoms. The incubation period can range between 7 to 17 days. People are not contagious during this time period. After the incubation period, high fever, chills, severe headache and backache, and general malaise begin to develop. Your body temperature can reach up to 106 degrees Fahrenheit. After 2 to 4 days, a rash emerges first as small red spots on the tongue and in the mouth. The spots develop into sores which spread large amounts of the virus into the mouth and throat. The person becomes most contagious during this phase. Soon after, the smallpox rash appears on exposed portions of the body: the face, forearms, wrists, palms, lower legs, feet, and soles. Usually the rash spreads to all parts of the body within 24 hours. As the rash appears, the fever usually falls and the person may start to feel better. The rash becomes raised bumps on the third day of the rash. The bumps fill with a thick, opaque fluid and often have a depression in the center that looks like a bellybutton. (CDC, 2004). This is a major distinguishing characteristic of smallpox that occurs on the fourth day. Until scabs form over the bumps, fever often will rise ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Before the rise of Muhammad and Islamic religion the Arabian Peninsula was originally the home to a group of nomadic desert dwellers who were able to deal with the harsh desert climate by migrating every season. In the fifth century BC more people groups began establishing settlements, many chose Mecca, by the west coast of Saudi Arabia. This location did not provide a preferable climate or many natural resources, but was the site of a large cubical shrine dedicated to various deities, this was called the site of Ka ba. • 52. Five Principles Of Tragedy Discuss the principles of tragedy as defined in Aristotle s Poetics. Illustrate these principles by examining Sophocles play Oedipus the King, in order to establish the link between the theory and practise of tragedy. Analyse the genre of tragedy as one that reveals dilemma and paradox. The advent of modern theater as we know it today began with the worship of Dionysus: the god of the grape harvest, winemaking and wine, of ritual madness, fertility, theater and religious ecstasy in Greek mythology and a weeklong competition that welcomed the Spring in ancient Greece. Many great playwrights were introduced to the World by the means of this weeklong competition including Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides. Sophocles is perhaps one of the pioneers of the genre of tragedy and his plays Oedipus Rex, Antigone and Oedipus at Colonus have for centuries inspired contemporary playwrights and theater artists to venture deeper into the understanding of the complex idea of the individual versus fate.
