A recent meta analysis of 48 econometric studies found that tobacco advertising significantly
increased tobacco sales ([2]). Recent reviews by the United States Institute of Medicine ([3]), the

([5]) reached the same conclusion.

These studies compare tobacco consumption before and after a complete ban on advertising,
controlling for other factors. Although such studies may be complicated by inadequate of data
collection or poor implementation of the ban, they have yielded convincing data that a complete ban
on advertising makes an important contribution towards reducing smoking prevalence.

However, towards the northern mountains of Thailand, people aren t as lucky to live in the luxuries
their brothers and sisters do in the south of Thailand. The mountainous regions are home to harsh
living conditions, where only a tenth of the land if fit for agriculture. The result is, those who control
good land are well off; those who live in the higher elevations are not. So, without being able to farm,
or hunt, many families in the north have to look towards other sources of income. These other sources

Special Education issues The issue that I struggle with is the lack of proper special education in public
schools. I think this is an issue that is seen locally as well as nationally. Inner city school students
suffer the most with improperly trained staff, unqualified teachers, lack of supplies, and not enough

I am very familiar with this issue and feel strongly about the need to reform special education laws
and practices. A child in need of special education services should not be punished for what the school
lacks. I am very passionate about this subject because my daughter suffers through public school. I

at 30 weeks and weighing only 2lbs 14.9 oz. She spent five weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit
and had a feeding tube, breathing machine, heart monitor, and incubation. Later one she received early
intervention services such as occupational therapy.
After she started school I kept telling the teachers something wasn t right and I was always told she
