1. How does your media product represent particular social groups? Direct mode of address Both of these images look directly towards the reader which is known as ‘direct mode of address’. They both also have their heads tilted to one side. The focus of my main page is my main image who is Hassan Majid. The model I have used is the age of my target audience. Before producing my magazine, I conducted a questionnaire and found that, it would be bought mostly by teenagers and young adults, so I produced my magazine in a way that would attract that age group. The way my model is dressed, makes the reader aware of what type of music magazine it is. Expression Both J. Cole and Hassan Majid have similar facial expressions. They book look towards the audience in a serious way. Costume The way they are dressed links to the theme of the magazine. For example, in my magazine the ‘model’ is wearing traditional Islamic clothes, which tells the reader, this magazine has to do with Islamic Nasheeds. Lighting You can see the difference between the lighting of both images. J. Cole looks brighter compared to Hassan Majid, who looks like he’s in a room with limited lighting. Posture The difference between both models is, the way J. Cole is standing straight with both his hands in his pocket gives him that relaxed look, however, if you analyse carefully the way Hassan Majids arms are placed, and his body expression, it makes him look ‘tense’ Shot type and angel The picture of my model is a medium shot however, the picture of J. Cole is a medium shot, and also a low angle shot, which makes him seem bigger.
