Affects of Neglect and Emotional Development Towards School Readiness
The consequences of childhood neglect and physical abuse can never be over emphasized. It affects
approximately 30 children in 1,000 per capita in Washington State alone and is likely underestimated
as not all neglect cases are reported or investigated.
(http://www.doh.wa.gov/Portals/1/Documents/2900/DOH530090ChldAb.pdf) It seems the signs for
abuse in certain areas are more apparent and easily identifiable than others. Abuse is clearly
recognized when it is physical abuse or neglect when someone s needs are not being met, but the
lasting damage to a child s emotional development from neglect has huge implications on their school
readiness. Our laws (RCW 26 44 020 ) defines abuse and neglect as injury, sexual abuse, sexual
exploitation, negligent treatment or maltreatment of a child by any person under circumstances which
indicate that the child s health, welfare, and safety is harmed .
The Concept of School Readiness
School readiness is can be interpreted in two perspectives and three paradigms. The two
characteristics are achieving experiences and transition. The dimensions include families and
communities readiness for school, child s readiness for school and schools readiness for children. The
willingness of Children can be looked

Properties Of Phosphorus 31 System Essay
1) Properties of Phosphorus 31 system: Ideal phosphorus system has Relatively high mass difference
between large and small isotope ratio (Large isotope: Small Isotope). It has high natural abundance so,
we can easily measure practically. It is also related to Even Magic mass number. This type of system
participates in many forms of fractionation. This system should be conservative in the process.
Generally, sources are limited to others and quantity. It may be related to the signal such as high noise
in the system. Phosphorus 31 is also little bit less sensitive than proton and somewhat higher sensitive
than carbon. It has also wide chemical shift range. Application of P 31: Phosphorus is mainly used in
NMR spectroscopy (Nuclear magnetic resonance). It is one kind of analytical technique because it has
100 % isotopic abundance and relatively high magnetogyric ratio compare to other isotopes. It has
also spin of ½ which makes spectra easy to understand and interpret. It also used to assay purity and to
assign structure of P containing compounds. By using this, we can resolve it within its characteristics.
As we discussed, In NMR, P 31 use widely particularly in Monitoring reactions, Measuring epoxide
content of carbon nanomaterials and Assaying sample purity. 2) There are so many isotope systems
has application based on the radioactive decay of isotope and buildup of the same isotope. Ar Ar
dating system is one of them. In this system, the key is that

Panera Bread Cast Study
Panera Bread Company in 2011 pursuing growth in a difficult economy Executive Summary Louis
Kane and Ron Shaich started a bakery café, Au Bon Pain Co., Inc. in 1981. The company grew and
between the 1980 s and 1990 s became the top bakery café operated company. Ron Shaich, along with
fellow team members traveled around the country studying different fast food markets. They liked
what they saw and realized that Au Bon Pain could be constructed in a way to offer an exceptional
dining experience. Au Bon Pain s Saint Louis Bread locations were changed to meet this new dining
experience. They had a vision, as stated in the case, to create a specialty café anchored by an

1). Panera s competitors, such as McDonald s and Starbucks so not cater. This should be something
they market to the consumers more. Catering would expand the kinds of buyers (ex. 1) such as
business, families, schools, which would grow Panera s market segment rapidly. Consumer s
preferences are constantly changing in this industry (ex. 3). Offering more services, such as catering,
is a way to catch the consumers interest. With a growth rate of 26 percent in 2010 for Panera s catering
proves that a new segment is being targeted. Panera needs to reach more consumers through
advertising, commercials, and incentives. We recommend Panera starts with the health factor as our
analysis indicates in the SWOT analysis of opportunities (ex. 10). Panera s catering should also
market incentives. If consumers have an incentive, such as first order 20% off, they would be more
willing to try new restaurants. The online Panera catering website will grow the market segment
because technology is rapidly growing and more and more competitors will expand to forming a
internet presence. In order to meet financial objective of 15 to 20 percent we recommend taking these
steps to capitalize on catering. With the help of the key success factors, driving forces, dominant
economic characteristics, SWOT analysis and weighted competitive strength analysis, we provide
realistic recommendations for Panera. Recommendation 2: Pursue a Strong

The Role Of Women In Hedda Gabler
English Lit Written Assignment
Through the characterization of Hedda, Ibsen explores the oppression of woman in the Victorian Era.
Introduction:
In Hedda Gabler, Henrik Ibsen portrays the hopeless struggle of woman in the Victorian era through
the protagonist, Hedda. From 1837 to 1901 in England, women experienced unrestrained oppression,
were expected to follow the orders of their husbands, and were believed to be unwise. In the play, the
newly wed Hedda has just arrived to her new husband, Tesmun s home town, and her whole world
seems to be shrinking inch by inch, expressed mainly through elements of stagecraft. The play is
mostly focused around the main character, Hedda, a tragic heroine. Her need to manipulate others
grows ever stronger as her boredom and despair increase, due to the new middle class atmosphere she
is forced into. At last, she frees herself from all of the social restrictions society has imposed on her,
by completing the act of suicide. Through the characterization of Hedda, Ibsen explores the oppression
of woman in the Victorian Era.
In the first Act, Ibsen portrays the oppression ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even after her success of scandals, Hedda realizes that Judge Brack is still the one, who holds the
upper hand in all affairs, and to express her freedom or at least want for freedom, she states I am
exceedingly glad to think that you have no sort of hold over me (p. 55). Her words foreshadow the
ending of the play as it prepares the audience for unexpected and uncontrolled actions taken by Hedda.
Furthermore, the ultimate outcome of her actions is Tesmun and Thea working together to re create the
manuscript, which Hedda was unprepared for. Tesmun and Thea take over her last place of comfort, as
she removes her belongings from the drawing room and the writing

International Relations Theories And Global Climate Change...
Introduction:
Why has a collective, global solution to climate change become stuck? What international relations
theories can explain this and how can they facilitate better cooperation between countries? A global
climate change solution has been stuck due to the unwillingness or inability of developed nations like
the U.S. to take responsibility of their large share of the past and current greenhouse gas emissions.
Reducing emissions in developed countries is not enough, and the weighted action needed cannot be
equal between developed and developing nations. This means we cannot expect large developing
countries such as India and China to reduce their emissions at the same rate as the U.S., or other
developed nations. The Paris Climate Agreement has been ineffective in the sense that the agreement
is not binding or you could say lacks obligation. Another reason why a collective action has been
stuck is the problem of the lack of uniform acceptance that climate change is real, most notably in the
U.S, which creates a battle internally on how to address it. This lack of acceptance can influence the
policy of states, such as the U.S., which has directly contributed to the U.S. s inability to meet their
requirements in the Paris Climate Agreement. Also, the power of private interests can have major
effects on policy, especially in a political system such as the U.S.
Institutionalism and Constructivism are two international relations theories that can explain this

They may not be able to remember who we are, but they feel us just the same (Amanda Dillon). For
my assignment of visiting with an elderly, I chose a couple that have been part of my family for many
years. We call this couple our grandparents however they are not our real grandparents. This couple
adopts families that are lacking in grandparents, and we are a very diverse family. They have adopted
Filipino families, Native American families and Mexican American families. What this couple try to
do, is give the children some sort of a complete family where they can help out with babysitting or
help with housing. I believe that they have a adopted at least 6 families in the town of Llano, Tx.

Momotaro s Divine Sea Warriors Propaganda
During the time of war, nations come to rely on propaganda to help invigorate a sense of nationalism
into their people. Not only does it encourage them to unify as one, but propaganda also creates an
enemy, someone that needs to be defeated. The use of propaganda is not limited to those old enough to
understand what is happening in the world, rather it is used even upon the young and innocent who are
new to the world around them. Children become a target that can be swayed by ideals, but it must be
dealt with in a different manner. Using animation is one way to influence a younger audience,
especially by using cute animals and a figure that is well known to them, a fictional figure like
Momotaro. This familiar character for the Japanese is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

fictional medias, Momotaro and his friends are victorious, defeating the devils with strength and
words, not giving up until they have completely surrendered. It is a happy ending for Japan that is
acquired through these feats. Unlike the original text, the film does have more to add, such as showing
the lives of soldiers when they return to their home and being welcomed back, colonizing an island in
an optimistic way, giving reason to attack the devils in a silhouette scene, fighting off the devils in a
more human way, and hinting at a future in which Japan will conquer more

Child Health And Human Development
INTRODUCTION
Many diseases have been discovered, studied, and are diagnosed to many individuals of different ages
today. Of all individuals premature babies are prime to acquiring diseases, as their immune system has
not reached full term. Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) derives from a European literature that help
define the disease as, necrotizing meaning death of tissues, entero referring to the small intestines,
colo is the large intestine, and itis meaning inflammation.8 Necrotizing enterocolitis is the most
common and devastating disease in neonates. It is a gastrointestinal disease that affects distant organs
such as the brain and places affected infants at substantially increased risk for neurodevelopmental
delays.3, 8 The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although many other factors may be involved with the development of necrotizing enterocolitis only
premature neonates are found to be involved in case controlled studies. 8 X rays can show the
abdomen having a bubbly appearance, a sign of air or gas present in the large intestines.14 With many
research findings and studies available medical researchers are able to help narrow the understanding
of NEC in the symptoms, causation, and medical treatment.
Infants with NEC are those 5% of infants who are most sick found in the NICU that display a large
amount of morbidity and mortality and low rate of survival. 3,13,14 Once an infant is diagnosed with
NEC there is little treatment that can differ the course of the disease. 8 The studies with NEC have
been able to help researchers with diagnosis, but it remains baffling.9 The treatment of NEC is
difficult, and faulty, pathogenesis is still to be proven, and no effective prevention strategy has been
complied with.9 With the lack of improvement shown in the mortality rate for NEC over the past
years, medical investigators have to re examine epidemiologic factors involved with NEC to search
for strategies to prevent and treat the disease. 8
EPIDEMIOLOGY
Neonates with necrotizing enterocolitis have been studied to be able to get a greater understanding of
how this disease occurs and the types of preventions that can be placed to be able to

School Structure And Family Influences
Education never really seemed to be priority in my hometown. Fresno, the 5th largest city in
California, is listed as the 8th least literate city in the US. I grew up in a part of town where less than
75% of the residents age 25 and over received a high school diploma; less than 13% earned a Bachelor
s degree; and only 3% have a graduate or professional degree. It s surprising that I even made it to
graduate school after reading statistics like these. My objective is to reflect on my school experience,
and explore how culture, school structure and family influences contributed to my successful
completion of grades K 16, even when the odds were not in my favor.
I came from a working class family of six whose ethnicity was mixed my father, White and my
mother, Hispanic. My siblings and I all went to Slater Elementary School from Kindergarten to 6th
grade. The school was less than a mile from my home, and the community was made up mostly of
working and lower middle class families. The ethnic distribution of my neighborhood was 53.8%
Hispanic, 28.2% White, 9.3% Black, 5.5% Asian, and 2% mixed race. Coming from a mixed race
family had its own challenges. In addition to being a cultural outlier in the community, I was always
confused about who I was ethnically, and was forced to choose which one identified with more (White
or Hispanic) on standardized tests, or when participating with play groups.
My parents were both clerks at the local Post Office. My father was a Vietnam War

Frankenstein Parent Child Relationship
Importance of Parent Child Relations Many people are raised without a mother or father and end up
seemingly normal, but they might not be as well off as they seem. The percentage of children younger
than 18 living with two parents has decreased dramatically over the last 40 years (Collins). This shows
that increasingly more children have to get by with only one parent, changing the way they may act
later on in life. It is represented in the books Hamlet by William Shakespeare and Frankenstein by
Mary Shelley that children are modeled after their parents, meaning parents need to give all the help
they can. It is also true that mothers are more confident when in a relationship and will raise their
child better (Collins). This proves that couples ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the article The Importance of a Father in a Child s Life by Stef Daniel, in matters of
substance abuse, depression, behavior problems and psychological maladjustment the love of a father
plays a significant role (Daniel). The article Daughters and Their Dads: The Vital Relationship by Bill
Muehlenberg states girls who grow up without fathers were 53 percent more likely to marry as
teenagers, 111 percent more likely to have children as teenagers, 164 percent more likely to have a
premarital birth, and 92 percent more likely to dissolve their own marriages. (Muehlenberg). There are
countless more reasons as to why fathers need to spend more time with their children. If Hamlet s
father had been kinder and a better father, the horrible tragedy that took place would have never
happened. Likewise, if Frankenstein hadn t left his own creation to fend for itself, it may not have
risen to take revenge on him. These are fictitious examples but can still be translated over into real life

King David Accomplishments
Introduction According to the New Living Translation (1996) King David lived halfway between the
lives of Abraham and Jesus, in addition to becoming one of the most important leaders for Israel and a
man after God s own heart ( 1 Samuel 13:14). David s place of birth was Bethlehem, City of David
Jerusalem where he grew up as a shepherd, but he is better known for his youthful triumph over
Goliath, as well as being a poet, musician, soldier, and a king (Holy Bible, NLT, 1996). King David
died at the age of seventy after ruling for forty years. King David wrestled with sin, such as adultery,
family disorder, and rebellion on a national level, however he also experienced great accomplishments
as well. One great achievement was the unification of Israel. Then all the tribes of Israel went to David
at Hebron and told him, We are all members of your family. For a long time, even while Saul was our
King, you were the one who really led Israel. And the Lord has told you, You will be the shepherd of
my people Israel. You will be their leader (2 Samuel 5:3). It is here that David makes a covenant with

authenticated the rule of King David. Objects were located in a ruin called Khirbet Qeiyafa, a fortified
border city in the Kingdom of Judah adjacent to the Valley of Elah, less than twenty miles southwest

The Unlucky In Shirley Jackson s The Lottery
As we all know nothing is ever as it seems. In the story the Lottery by Shirley Jackson there is a small
village in which every summer there is a lottery held. At first when we think of a lottery we think of
one lucky winner who wins a grand prize. However in this village the lottery is used to determine one
unlucky winner who gets stoned to death. As seen in the story when Tessie Hutchinson, the unlucky
winner of the lottery gets stoned to death by her own village. In the story the Lottery, Shirley Jackson
uses tone and foreshadowing to argue that all people, regardless of how civilized they seem, are
capable of great evil.
Shirley Jackson uses the setting, the villager s behavior, and the lottery itself to set the tone to show

The paraphernalia of the lottery is used to indicate the evil actions that have yet to take place. For
example in the story it had said Bobby Martin had already stuffed his pockets full of stone. (L16)
Later on it said eventually made a great pile of stones in one corner (L19) and that they stood together,
away from the pile of stones. This seems odd because a child has his pockets full of rocks. And it is
not apparent to why he has those stones. And the pile of rocks gives of an ominous feeling because it
makes the reader wonder why there is just a pile rocks and why the men are scared of the rock since
they stood away from it. The names of the people also hint towards the evil actions at the end of the
story. The names of the two people who help conduct the lottery are Mr.Summers and Mr.Graves .
There is also a child whose last name is Delacroix. Mr.Summers last name happens to be summer
which is when the lottery is held. And Mr.Graves last name happens to be graves which represent
death. And finally Delacroix is a French surname which comes from de la Croix which means of the
cross. And crosses refer to Jesus Christ who was killed and sacrificed on a cross. Their names together
clues that during the summer there is reoccurring death. Jackson furthermore uses the

Language In Their Eyes Were Watching God
Their Eyes Were Watching God, a Unique American Narrative
Their Eyes Were Watching God, a 1937 novel by influential Harlem Renaissance writer Zora Neale
Hurston, examines the historical, cultural, and social foundations of African American life by
following the life of an African American woman in the US South. In her examination of these
foundations, Hurston builds validity and affirmation for black Southern culture by beautifully
portraying the life of the Black Southern community in the Antebellum period, by adopting a
distinctly African American dialect and colloquial Black folk speech, and by using a narrative inside
the novel to construct and narrativize the African American identity.

Q1. Expand on the rationale behind the Fiat and Chrysler strategic alliance.
In December 2008 Fiat witnessed such a drop off in its demand for cars that they were forced to close
for a month and lay off close to 50,000 workers. The company indicated that amid the financial crisis
it was looking for a partner who could give the company the much needed push in the North American
market. Fiat learned about Chrysler s bankruptcy problems and put an offer on the table for the
purchase of Chrysler. Experts felt the alliance was part of Fiat s expansion and risk diversification
strategy. On Jan 20th, 2009 as part of its bankruptcy filing, Chrysler announced its plans to establish a

The rationale ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was because of this agreement with the Government that Chrysler had to present a long term
viability plan to the US Government by the end of March 2009, which needed to include the
possibility of mergers with other companies. This is effectively what allowed the Fiat/Chrysler
alliance to take place.
Q2. Investigate what could be a hindrance to the realisation of the synergies of the Fiat / Chrysler
partnership?
In any merger, or acquisition for that matter, it can be extremely difficult. In a lot of cases mergers
often fail to produce the anticipated gains.
There are many difficulties of which both Chrysler and Fiat may encounter, such as;
1. One company s reputation can damage the profitability of the venture as a whole.
2. The coming together of different cultures.
3. Different business strategies.
4. Increase in management turnover.
5. Increase in bureaucratic and export costs.

The Treatment Plan Of Mulch
Methodology
The treatment plan of mulch, compost top dressing, and compost tea application was carried out over
a few weeks. During Week One, the plants were transplanted and intercropped (Figure 1). A 6 inch
space was maintained between each crop to ensure room for growth. The plot was then divided into
two portions, one for control plants and the other for treatment plants. Once the plot was divided, a 3 6
inch layer of straw mulch was added to the treatment portion. The total number of plants in the control
and treatment plots was 200 and 195, respectively.
During Week Two, a top dressing of compost was added to energize the soil and add supplemental
nutrition to aid plant growth. The dry, depleted nature of the soil prompted the addition of compost
tea, which was prepared with the recipe shown in Figure 2 and applied directly to the soil during Week
3. Plants were weeded and thinned regularly twice a week for the first three weeks post
transplantation. From then on, the plot was regularly monitored and weeded.
The water schedule remained consistent throughout the experiment. Water was applied to the plants
via drip irrigation for one hour a day, three days a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday).
Results Looking at the raw data, the trends between the control groups and treatment groups are
highly varied. Among all plant species, the treatment led to an average increase in plant height, a
varied increase or decrease in fresh root weight and aboveground biomass, and

Long Day s Journey into Night by Eugene O Neill is a complicated story. It shows a day in the life of
a dysfunctional family. This family is made up of four extremely different personalities. Tyrone is the

is the sick younger son. Everyone in this family has their strengths and weaknesses. In Tyrone s case
his strengths and the weight of his family s weakness makes him the most sympathetic. Jamie is the
opposite. His flaws weigh more than his family s strengths. The typical reader can easily find Tyrone
as the most sympathetic and Jamie as the least sympathetic.

him happy. Tyrone has paid for Jamie to go to not just one but multiple colleges. In return to this
opportunity Jamie quit every single one of them. As a last resort for his son to still be successful in
life, Tyrone has used his sphere of influence in the theater world to get him various roles. All Tyrone
gets in response to this help is distain. Jamie tells Tyrone that he hates acting. Jamie blames his father
for his acting career instead of thanking Tyrone for giving him some sort of career. Jamie is not the
only ungrateful member of Tyrone s family. When Mary returns home a few months before the play

adored how he loved to educate the masses, specifically children and taught them all about what he
learned from being in the presence of bears. And while Timothy did end up losing his life , many were
inspired by how he lived life and how he died doing what he loved. Timothy was even quoted as
saying I will die for these animals, I will die for these animals, I will die for these animals. (Timothy
Treadwell, Grizzly Man), showing the people that he had no regrets for how he lived his life even if
the result was him losing it. While many admire Timothy s courage and passion in trying to achieve
his goals and protect the things he loves. He

Capitalism A Love Story
Capitalism A love Story Capitalism A love Story I would have to suggested as a must see movie.
Personally rating Capitalism A lover Story with 2 thumbs up, this documentary was a well put together
film with brilliant ideas and creativity to illustrate the critical destruction of capitalism from
empirically aspect. What makes the film so interesting, are Mr. mores concepts .Threw cultural
relitism perspectives, Michael Moore exposes the controversy issues of democracy, socialism and
capitalism ,providing the viewers with visuality of actualize detailed events in America s corrupted

Literary Theme Of Self Identity Essay
In Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird, Lee writes, before I can live with other folks I ve got to live
with myself. The one thing that doesn t abide by majority rule is a person s conscience (Lee, 108). As
displayed in To Kill a Mockingbird and many others, the literary theme of self identity coupled with
coming of age has been a long running one in the history of literature. Certainly, we find this theme in
novels such as Between Tides and Shadows of Your Black Memory, respectively. The development of
character and self identity is vital in the analysis of each protagonist. Between Tides follows Pierre
Landu, a black Catholic Priest and revolutionist, on a journey to right his wrongs through rigorous self
examination. Pierre, having rejected his African ancestry during adolescence, in attempts to integrate
into the Catholic Priesthood finds himself dissatisfied with the priesthood during his adult years. In
attempts to reconnect to his cultural roots he joins a revolutionist movement to deconstruct
colonialism in his African nation. Through growth and the tumultuous discovery of self, Pierre
recognizes that there is no easy resolution in rediscovering himself or Africa. Similarly, Shadows of
Your Black Memory, is largely about a young boy s journey into adulthood. Shadows is retold through
the memory of the adult version of the young boy. Unlike Pierre, the Narrator, who is never a given a
name is strikingly aware of the cultural and social parallels in which his

Theme Of Suffering In The Aeneid
Throughout the Aeneid, a constant theme of suffering is made apparent. Whether it be in war, in
travels, in his meeting others; Aeneas journey is anything but normal. The gods are torn on the topic of
Aeneas; some support his journey and his goals while others oppose them vehemently. Because of this
contrast in support, Aeneas often becomes the subject of their conflict. Torn between two sides in this
never ending spat, Aeneas is forced to persevere through great contention between those of a higher
power. In lines 450 476, Book VI, Aeneas states in a speech to Dido, sed me iussa deum, quae nunc
has ire per umbras, per loca senta situ cogunt noctemque profundam, imperiis egere suis; (I was
commanded by gods, who drove me by their decrees, that now force me to go among the shades,
through places thorny with neglect, and deepest night). Aeneas most recent endeavor was to travel to
Hades, among the shades, where no one before had gone and come back unscathed. Aeneas, forced to
attempt the impossible, ventures into the underworld. The lines 384 425 in the Aeneid book 6 most
directly correlate with the suffering theme that is found throughout the passages. The underworld is a
dark and depressing place, where it seems as though the only light sources are the pits of lava and fires
brewing about. Charon, the ferryman across the River Styx, is not only a suspect and depressing
person himself, but the river he guards and transports souls across is not one to be trifled with. It

Real Men Drink Coke
CASE ASSIGNMENT: COKE ZERO Chapter # 8)
Do Real Men Drink Diet Coke?
When a couple of marketing managers for Coca Cola told attorney Elizabeth Finn Johnson that they
wanted to sue their Coke Zero colleagues for taste infringement, she was baffled. She tried to talk
them out of it, but they were determined. They argued that Coca Cola Classic should be protected
from the age discrimination it would suffer with the introduction of a newer, younger soft drink that
tasted exactly the same as the original. Frustrated, Finn Johnson held up the Coke can and shouted, It s
not a person! Title VII doesn t cover these things!
What she didn t know was that the marketing managers were actors. Hidden cameras had been planted

Coca Cola is now investing more money in Coke Zero than any other brand its size, hoping it will
someday be a megabrand for the company alongside Coca Cola Classic and Diet Coke. Chief
Marketing Officer Bayne is enthusiastic about the impact it may have on the company. We do see this
as potentially a bit of a white knight. There s huge opportunity to grow here.

Bus Descriptive Essay
Bus rides are always the worst. You have your loud crowd, then our annoying people, the quiet ones,
and the people that don t want anything except to hurry home, so they sit in the front of the bus. But
for me? I m in the far back, the Cool Kid seat. The seat where when you were younger you d race to
claim. He sat three seats away from me on the opposite side of the bus. He was new. Everyone in
Cascade Locks knows everyone. I was surprised that I didn t know him yet. Little did I know back
then, that he would make an impact on my life. It was around the end of September that I noticed he
rode my bus. He talked to Blake a lot, who I am now friends with. They were clearly becoming best
friends. Blake and I, we didn t talk much last year. He was more of an acquaintance until this year.
Autumn who is one of my good friends and is a sophomore rides the bus with me. We live about 5
minutes apart, in walking distance. While we were sitting on the uncomfortable Grey seats that the bus
provided, talking about this guy she liked. I glanced up at his direction to catch him with his chocolaty
brown eyes gazed at mine. I was flustered. I quickly and nervously looked down at my hands, that laid
in lap. I felt the heat of embarrassment raised up to my cheeks. I wasn t embarrassed, though. I was
more flustered with the thought of this cute, new guy on my bus that was looking at me. I looked up
again, slowly, but not in his direction, but toward my friend Autumn s. Who is that? I asked

Examples Of Authority In Night By Elie Wiesel
Unchallenged authority leads to unnecessary aggression and violence. Power is extremely hard to
control through one being in our human nature, so a balance of power is often the only way to rule
effectively without going over the line. Power will take over and turn to aggression even toward the
innocent inferiors of this world. In the novel Night, author Wiesel speaks of the extremes that
unlimited power will lead to using imagery, details, and diction to outline his first hand experiences
under an overkill authority.
Wiesel demonstrates his harsh days under unjust rulers through touching diction. As Elizer arrived in
Buna he was informed that he was lucky because in the past , Buna was a veritable hell (Wiesel 70).

The Jews were restricted in no matter what they did even for religious events they were restrained by
the deadly atmosphere. At the end of Rosh Hashanah they gathered in silence surrounded by the
electric barbed wire. (Wiesel 66) This little detail Wiesel mentions really adds to the aggressive theme
of the story, even during Jewish tradition the Nazis went to drastic measures to contain them. During
one of Wiesel s difficult selections he describes the aggressive attitude that was necessary to pass. His
advice was to don t walk slowly, run! (Wiesel 71) This minor detail is very significant because it says
that the Jews had to match the aggression of the SS officers during their time in the camps in order to
live. Not only were the Germans aggressive, they were also very quick to changes and had no mercy.
The Jews had received word that the end was near Hitler will annihilate all Jews before the clock
strikes 12. (Wiesel 80) The Nazis came to death decisions in a matter of hours as this little time detail
suggests which proves there unforgiving nature. The small details Wiesel includes may not seem like
much, but really they spice up the overkill aggression that Elizer

Middle Ages Feudalism
The Middle Ages was the period of European history between 500 AD and 1500 AD. Other names for
this period include the Dark Ages, the Age of Religion, and the Medieval Age. Also how the rise of

The Middle Ages begins with the fall of the Roman Empire. In 376 AD the empire was divided into
two The Western Roman Empire and The Eastern Roman Empire. The Middle Ages was not a time of
ignorance and backwardness but rather a period during which christianity flourished in Europe.

Tensions occurred along this route between Europeans and the Mongolian tribesman (mongols).
Italian merchants at the city of kaffa were besieged by the mongols in 1345. As the mongols started
dying because of a mysterious illness they adopted a new strategy hurling the bodies of the dead over
the italian city walls. The disease killing the mongols was the bubonic Plague during medieval times
there was no cure for this disease and it was spread easily. The italian merchants returned to their port
city and the disease spread rapidly throughout Europe symptoms included large blisters called buboes
high fevers and delirium cures such as donating gold to the church self flagellation and using leeches
to drain blood had no effect.
The Middle Ages came to a close through the innovations of Renaissance, the discovery and
exploration of the Americas and the drastic rethinking of Christianity in the Protestant Reformation.
By the mid 1400s, with the Renaissance in full bloom, the Middle Ages would effectively come to an
end. No matter how many advances that you make, if you are still failing your citizens it doesn t

Alinsky s Rules For Radicals Analysis
Alinsky s rules for radicals were written by Saul Alinsky in 1972. The rules were created to develop a
process for organization. Alinsky s rules were broken into two different types, tactics with 13 rules and
ends and means with 11 rules. The four rules I chose to discuss were from the tactics list of rules.
Alinsky s rules for radicals are applicable in many ways and also are somewhat biased. The first rule I
chose was the seventh rule of tactics, Alinsky states, A tactic that drags on for too long becomes a
drag. Commitment may become ritualistic as people turn to other issues. . I agree with the purpose of
this rule because people need variety in an organization or else they get bored. People need any kind
of variations of work that they can get within an organization over a prolonged period of time in order
to stay productive and efficient. Variation also allows for the members of an organization to gain
additional experiences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I agree with this rule because we, as human beings, are prone to over complicate a simple situation.
For example, we look at a situation, we then get overwhelmed by it, then, when the situation is over,
we feel as though we shouldn t have been worried about the situation at all. A Biblical example of this
tactic is in Genesis 3, starting in verse 1 by saying Now the serpent was the most cunning of all the
wild animals that the Lord God made and finishing in verse 15 by the Lord saying to the serpent He
will strike your head and you will strike his heel (HCSB). At first, the serpents description makes him
seem very intimidating but within the same chapter the serpent was told how he will meet his ends,
which discredits any prior intimidation that the serpent had. This tactic is true for all organizations
because despite how difficult a challenge may seem, people are more than likely willing to help if they

Bhopal, India Chemical Accident, 1984
Just after midnight on December 3, 1984, a pesticide plant in Bhopal, India had a chemical leak
accident. The chemical that was released into the air is called methyl isocyanate, or MIC, used to
make pesticides. This chemical is tremendously harmful and fatal to humans, livestock, and crops.
Only a short term exposure may cause death or unfavorable health effects. The slums of Bhopal and
its residents that surrounded the plant which were mostly affected by the gas suffered dearly. An
estimated 8,000 people dead and about 300,000 more suffering from its effects. Bloated carcasses of
cattle dotted the streets. Tree and plant leaves were yellow and brittle. Corpses littered the streets and

The overwhelming population in Bhopal means very few jobs that are out there for the public. Even
a meager, low paying job is welcomed as a way to avoid abject poverty (15). The bottom class of
society, workers and job seekers take any job they can find if they are fortunate. If they are lucky, they
will be found in such places as small industries around the city like the glue factory, the bone mills,
the tannery center, the distillery, the slaughterhouse, and the straw products factory. Otherwise, these
people work as sidewalk vendors who shine shoes, give haircuts or clean ears (15). They can also find
jobs as street cleaners or in communal sewing centers. In addition to these unofficial social classes,
Hindus in Bhopal and throughout India adhere to a rigid caste system that further separates people into
classes (15). It is very hard to change caste to a higher standard of living and converse with a higher
class. But if some individuals have the desire to change caste, they can through immense effort, talent,
and luck; one may change caste by gaining prominence in a certain occupation (17). The caste
system offers little flexibility in village life, politics, and in marriage. Religion also plays a part in this
caste; only Hindus can have caste. In the midst of the poverty and chaos in Bhopal, Union carbide
opened its chemical plant in 1969 (17). The plant is located at the city limits

Assisted Reproduction
Assisted Reproduction
Infertility affects about 13 to 14% of reproductive couples. It is the failure to conceive after a year of
properly timed and unprotected intercourse.
Assisted Reproductive Technology involves several types of medical treatments that are designed to
result in pregnancy. Types of assisted reproductive technology include in vitro fertilization (IVF),
gamete intrafallopian transfer (GIFT), zygote intrafallopian transfer (ZIFT), egg or embryo donation,
and gestational carriers.
Most assisted reproductive technologies are used to treat infertility. While others are used when there
are no fertility problems. Embryo screening or pre implantation genetic diagnosis is used to prevent
the births of children with specific genetic characteristics.
In vitro fertilization relates to assisted reproduction procedures where sperm and eggs are joined
outside a body of a woman. Women undertaking IVF are given hormonal drugs to promote the
development of multiple eggs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When partners expecting to become parents discover that one or both of them have fertility problems,
they face a variety of options to bring a child into their lives. They could choose the option of
adopting a child, or they may choose from a variation of medical technologies. They must decide
whether they prefer the uncertainties and complexities of the adoption process or of the medical
response to infertility. All options carry risks for both the mother and fetus, and they may also be
expensive. Many techniques are also not covered by insurance policies.
Medication that includes drugs such as Clomid, Serophene, and Pergonal can also be used to stimulate
ovulation and increase a woman s chances of becoming pregnant, but these drugs can increase the
likelihood that the woman will have multiple births, which is risky for both the woman and the fetus.

Benjamin Franklin and His Contribution to the American...
Benjamin Franklin was one of the most influential men of the eighteenth century. He was the only
man to sign all of these four major documents: the Declaration of Independence, the Treaty of Alliance
with France, the Constitution of the United States, and the Treaty of Peace with Great Britain. Franklin
was an inventor, a philosopher, a writer, a musician, and he actively participated in many
congressional articles used by the government of the United States of America. His tombstone,
however, simply referred to him as printer , reflecting his great humility. One of the things he was
most influential in was the separation of the American colonies from British rule. In fact, Benjamin
Franklin was vital to the success of the American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Franklin realized that this was mostly a declaration of independence from England, which
hadn t gained enough support amongst the Americans for Benjamin to force a vote. So, it can be
concluded, Franklin was very much ahead of his time in writing the Articles as America now uses the
proportional representation system when electing officials and Congress eventually wrote a
declaration against British rule anyway. Franklin would often go on missions for Congress. The first
trip was to Cambridge in October 1775. His second mission was to Canada in March 1776.
Throughout the second trip, Franklin became severely ill and, upon his return home, he was bedridden
for months. While Franklin was still lying sick in his bed, he was appointed as chairman of a
committee whose purpose was to draft a declaration of America s independence. The committee also
included Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Robert Livingston, and Roger Sherman. Jefferson composed
the core of the document. When he had finished his first draft, he asked Franklin to make any
alterations that he felt necessary. Franklin made a few changes, such as We hold these truths to be
sacred and undeniable to We hold these truths to be self evident . On July 2, the Continental Congress
voted for independence. The declaration was passed two days later on July 4. A month later on August
2, the official signing took place. John

There are numerous examples of poor clinical practice in nursing (Halldorsdottir, 1997; Reynolds,
1998) and while there may be many factors responsible for this, consensus is growing that there may
be a correlation between EI and clinical practice performance in nursing (Cadman and Brewer, 2001).
Given the recent developments in producing measures of EI, (Bar On, 1997; Schutte et al, 1998, 2007;
Mayer et al, 2002; Petrides et al, 2003) it may now be possible to establish whether EI could be
measured in student nurse applicants and the score used as a predictor of success at the interview
stage, along with the ability to achieve outcomes later in practice. There are certainly sufficient
examples of robust measurement tools, that would enable the debate to move beyond speculation over
the introduction of emotional intelligence in nursing,

Learning Styles And Techniques Of Teaching
During my class in Curriculum, Methods, and Assessments: Science and Math, I have had the
opportunity to observe two different mathematic teachers. Through those observations I have gained
great knowledge and understanding. I was exposed to different teaching, learning styles and
techniques. Being able to observe a few different classrooms has given me an opportunity to witness
different aspects of teaching. Through all of my observations during college of teachers I am confident
that teaching is what I want to do with the rest of my life. I will touch on a few topics from my
observation throughout my paper such as, the objective of the lesson, types of methods the teachers
used, differentiation instruction, ways the teachers assess learning in the classroom and changes that I
could make to the lesson.
For my observations at Metzger Middle School, I had the opportunity to observe Ms. Williams and
Ms. James sixth grade Mathematics classrooms. During Ms. Williams first period she had a Co
Teacher to assist her students that were ESLs (1 student) and IEP/504 (5 students). A student that was
in a wheelchair was also amongst the students; accommodations were made for this student, for
example; the co teacher had the student that was sitting in the first chair by the door move back a desk
so that the student could put his chair up the desk. Some of the methods that the teacher provided were

Food and Beverage Control Systems
Food and beverage control systems
Food and beverage control systems can help you introduce the same financial rigour to your dining
establishment or catering company that you ll find in manufacturing operations.
What is a food and beverage control system?
A food and beverage control system is a means of computerizing best practice within a restaurant or
catering operation. It gives managers a better idea of the flow of food through the restaurant, enabling
them to plan cash flow and stock control more effectively. At the sharp end, it provides chefs with a
more structured way of planning menus, taking into account nutritional and financial considerations.

Creating a database of suppliers and ingredients will enable you to manage ingredient pricing more
effectively.
Nutrition
More applicable for specialist dining establishments (such as those in hospitals) or catering
companies, the ability to provide nutritional information on the food you serve can offer you a
competitive edge, and reassure customers particularly in areas such as school dinners, for example.
Recipe management
Many chefs either work from memory without any clear recipe, or have incomplete recipes that they
do not follow.
Codifying recipes helps you to manage your ingredients more effectively, while building in standard
estimates for wastage (such as the yield after peeling and chopping vegetables, or the wastage caused
by evaporation and transfer of a cream sauce from bowl to bowl). This will help you to price your
food more accurately. If you know exactly what a meal costs to make, you can price it more accurately
to undercut the competition while still making a quantifiable profit.
When looking at recipe management, consider the ability to nest recipes, because most recipes are
made up of multiple others. And a function to scale recipes easily for different quantities will be
invaluable for busy chefs.
Stock control and purchasing
Some food and beverage control systems give you the chance to inventory your food and create
purchase orders for more so you can maintain a minimum level of

  • 2. Effects Of Neglect And Emotional Development Towards... AFFECTS OF NEGLECT AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT TOWARDS SCHOOL READINESS Name Institution Affects of Neglect and Emotional Development Towards School Readiness The consequences of childhood neglect and physical abuse can never be over emphasized. It affects approximately 30 children in 1,000 per capita in Washington State alone and is likely underestimated as not all neglect cases are reported or investigated. (http://www.doh.wa.gov/Portals/1/Documents/2900/DOH530090ChldAb.pdf) It seems the signs for abuse in certain areas are more apparent and easily identifiable than others. Abuse is clearly recognized when it is physical abuse or neglect when someone s needs are not being met, but the lasting damage to a child s emotional development from neglect has huge implications on their school readiness. Our laws (RCW 26 44 020 ) defines abuse and neglect as injury, sexual abuse, sexual exploitation, negligent treatment or maltreatment of a child by any person under circumstances which indicate that the child s health, welfare, and safety is harmed . The Concept of School Readiness School readiness is can be interpreted in two perspectives and three paradigms. The two characteristics are achieving experiences and transition. The dimensions include families and communities readiness for school, child s readiness for school and schools readiness for children. The willingness of Children can be looked ... • 3. Properties Of Phosphorus 31 System Essay 1) Properties of Phosphorus 31 system: Ideal phosphorus system has Relatively high mass difference between large and small isotope ratio (Large isotope: Small Isotope). It has high natural abundance so, we can easily measure practically. It is also related to Even Magic mass number. This type of system participates in many forms of fractionation. This system should be conservative in the process. Generally, sources are limited to others and quantity. It may be related to the signal such as high noise in the system. Phosphorus 31 is also little bit less sensitive than proton and somewhat higher sensitive than carbon. It has also wide chemical shift range. Application of P 31: Phosphorus is mainly used in NMR spectroscopy (Nuclear magnetic resonance). It is one kind of analytical technique because it has 100 % isotopic abundance and relatively high magnetogyric ratio compare to other isotopes. It has also spin of ½ which makes spectra easy to understand and interpret. It also used to assay purity and to assign structure of P containing compounds. By using this, we can resolve it within its characteristics. As we discussed, In NMR, P 31 use widely particularly in Monitoring reactions, Measuring epoxide content of carbon nanomaterials and Assaying sample purity. 2) There are so many isotope systems has application based on the radioactive decay of isotope and buildup of the same isotope. • 4. Panera Bread Cast Study Panera Bread Company in 2011 pursuing growth in a difficult economy Executive Summary Louis Kane and Ron Shaich started a bakery café, Au Bon Pain Co., Inc. in 1981. The company grew and between the 1980 s and 1990 s became the top bakery café operated company. Ron Shaich, along with fellow team members traveled around the country studying different fast food markets. They liked what they saw and realized that Au Bon Pain could be constructed in a way to offer an exceptional dining experience. Au Bon Pain s Saint Louis Bread locations were changed to meet this new dining experience. They had a vision, as stated in the case, to create a specialty café anchored by an authentic, fresh dough, artisan bakery and upscale, quick service menu ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1). Panera s competitors, such as McDonald s and Starbucks so not cater. This should be something they market to the consumers more. Catering would expand the kinds of buyers (ex. 1) such as business, families, schools, which would grow Panera s market segment rapidly. Consumer s preferences are constantly changing in this industry (ex. 3). Offering more services, such as catering, is a way to catch the consumers interest. With a growth rate of 26 percent in 2010 for Panera s catering proves that a new segment is being targeted. Panera needs to reach more consumers through advertising, commercials, and incentives. We recommend Panera starts with the health factor as our analysis indicates in the SWOT analysis of opportunities (ex. 10). Panera s catering should also market incentives. If consumers have an incentive, such as first order 20% off, they would be more willing to try new restaurants. The online Panera catering website will grow the market segment because technology is rapidly growing and more and more competitors will expand to forming a internet presence. In order to meet financial objective of 15 to 20 percent we recommend taking these steps to capitalize on catering. With the help of the key success factors, driving forces, dominant economic characteristics, SWOT analysis and weighted competitive strength analysis, we provide realistic recommendations for Panera. • 5. The Role Of Women In Hedda Gabler English Lit Written Assignment Through the characterization of Hedda, Ibsen explores the oppression of woman in the Victorian Era. Introduction: In Hedda Gabler, Henrik Ibsen portrays the hopeless struggle of woman in the Victorian era through the protagonist, Hedda. From 1837 to 1901 in England, women experienced unrestrained oppression, were expected to follow the orders of their husbands, and were believed to be unwise. In the play, the newly wed Hedda has just arrived to her new husband, Tesmun s home town, and her whole world seems to be shrinking inch by inch, expressed mainly through elements of stagecraft. The play is mostly focused around the main character, Hedda, a tragic heroine. Her need to manipulate others grows ever stronger as her boredom and despair increase, due to the new middle class atmosphere she is forced into. At last, she frees herself from all of the social restrictions society has imposed on her, by completing the act of suicide. Through the characterization of Hedda, Ibsen explores the oppression of woman in the Victorian Era. In the first Act, Ibsen portrays the oppression ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even after her success of scandals, Hedda realizes that Judge Brack is still the one, who holds the upper hand in all affairs, and to express her freedom or at least want for freedom, she states I am exceedingly glad to think that you have no sort of hold over me (p. 55). Her words foreshadow the ending of the play as it prepares the audience for unexpected and uncontrolled actions taken by Hedda. Furthermore, the ultimate outcome of her actions is Tesmun and Thea working together to re create the manuscript, which Hedda was unprepared for. • 6. International Relations Theories And Global Climate Change... Introduction: Why has a collective, global solution to climate change become stuck? What international relations theories can explain this and how can they facilitate better cooperation between countries? A global climate change solution has been stuck due to the unwillingness or inability of developed nations like the U.S. to take responsibility of their large share of the past and current greenhouse gas emissions. Reducing emissions in developed countries is not enough, and the weighted action needed cannot be equal between developed and developing nations. This means we cannot expect large developing countries such as India and China to reduce their emissions at the same rate as the U.S., or other developed nations. The Paris Climate Agreement has been ineffective in the sense that the agreement is not binding or you could say lacks obligation. Another reason why a collective action has been stuck is the problem of the lack of uniform acceptance that climate change is real, most notably in the U.S, which creates a battle internally on how to address it. This lack of acceptance can influence the policy of states, such as the U.S., which has directly contributed to the U.S. s inability to meet their requirements in the Paris Climate Agreement. Also, the power of private interests can have major effects on policy, especially in a political system such as the U.S. Institutionalism and Constructivism are two international relations theories that can explain this ... Not only does it encourage them to unify as one, but propaganda also creates an enemy, someone that needs to be defeated. The use of propaganda is not limited to those old enough to understand what is happening in the world, rather it is used even upon the young and innocent who are new to the world around them. Children become a target that can be swayed by ideals, but it must be dealt with in a different manner. Of all individuals premature babies are prime to acquiring diseases, as their immune system has not reached full term. Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) derives from a European literature that help define the disease as, necrotizing meaning death of tissues, entero referring to the small intestines, colo is the large intestine, and itis meaning inflammation.8 Necrotizing enterocolitis is the most common and devastating disease in neonates. Although many other factors may be involved with the development of necrotizing enterocolitis only premature neonates are found to be involved in case controlled studies. 8 X rays can show the abdomen having a bubbly appearance, a sign of air or gas present in the large intestines.14 With many research findings and studies available medical researchers are able to help narrow the understanding of NEC in the symptoms, causation, and medical treatment. Infants with NEC are those 5% of infants who are most sick found in the NICU that display a large amount of morbidity and mortality and low rate of survival. 3,13,14 Once an infant is diagnosed with NEC there is little treatment that can differ the course of the disease. 8 The studies with NEC have been able to help researchers with diagnosis, but it remains baffling.9 The treatment of NEC is difficult, and faulty, pathogenesis is still to be proven, and no effective prevention strategy has been complied with.9 With the lack of improvement shown in the mortality rate for NEC over the past years, medical investigators have to re examine epidemiologic factors involved with NEC to search for strategies to prevent and treat the disease. 8 EPIDEMIOLOGY Neonates with necrotizing enterocolitis have been studied to be able to get a greater understanding of how this disease occurs and the types of preventions that can be placed to be able to ... Fresno, the 5th largest city in California, is listed as the 8th least literate city in the US. I grew up in a part of town where less than 75% of the residents age 25 and over received a high school diploma; less than 13% earned a Bachelor s degree; and only 3% have a graduate or professional degree. It s surprising that I even made it to graduate school after reading statistics like these. My objective is to reflect on my school experience, and explore how culture, school structure and family influences contributed to my successful completion of grades K 16, even when the odds were not in my favor. I came from a working class family of six whose ethnicity was mixed my father, White and my mother, Hispanic. My siblings and I all went to Slater Elementary School from Kindergarten to 6th grade. The school was less than a mile from my home, and the community was made up mostly of working and lower middle class families. The ethnic distribution of my neighborhood was 53.8% Hispanic, 28.2% White, 9.3% Black, 5.5% Asian, and 2% mixed race. Coming from a mixed race family had its own challenges. In addition to being a cultural outlier in the community, I was always confused about who I was ethnically, and was forced to choose which one identified with more (White or Hispanic) on standardized tests, or when participating with play groups. • 11. Frankenstein Parent Child Relationship Importance of Parent Child Relations Many people are raised without a mother or father and end up seemingly normal, but they might not be as well off as they seem. The percentage of children younger than 18 living with two parents has decreased dramatically over the last 40 years (Collins). This shows that increasingly more children have to get by with only one parent, changing the way they may act later on in life. It is represented in the books Hamlet by William Shakespeare and Frankenstein by Mary Shelley that children are modeled after their parents, meaning parents need to give all the help they can. King David Accomplishments Introduction According to the New Living Translation (1996) King David lived halfway between the lives of Abraham and Jesus, in addition to becoming one of the most important leaders for Israel and a man after God s own heart ( 1 Samuel 13:14). David s place of birth was Bethlehem, City of David Jerusalem where he grew up as a shepherd, but he is better known for his youthful triumph over Goliath, as well as being a poet, musician, soldier, and a king (Holy Bible, NLT, 1996). King David died at the age of seventy after ruling for forty years. King David wrestled with sin, such as adultery, family disorder, and rebellion on a national level, however he also experienced great accomplishments as well. One great achievement was the unification of Israel. Then all the tribes of Israel went to David at Hebron and told him, We are all members of your family. The one thing that doesn t abide by majority rule is a person s conscience (Lee, 108). As displayed in To Kill a Mockingbird and many others, the literary theme of self identity coupled with coming of age has been a long running one in the history of literature. Certainly, we find this theme in novels such as Between Tides and Shadows of Your Black Memory, respectively. The development of character and self identity is vital in the analysis of each protagonist. Between Tides follows Pierre Landu, a black Catholic Priest and revolutionist, on a journey to right his wrongs through rigorous self examination. Pierre, having rejected his African ancestry during adolescence, in attempts to integrate into the Catholic Priesthood finds himself dissatisfied with the priesthood during his adult years. In attempts to reconnect to his cultural roots he joins a revolutionist movement to deconstruct colonialism in his African nation. Whether it be in war, in travels, in his meeting others; Aeneas journey is anything but normal. The gods are torn on the topic of Aeneas; some support his journey and his goals while others oppose them vehemently. Because of this contrast in support, Aeneas often becomes the subject of their conflict. Torn between two sides in this never ending spat, Aeneas is forced to persevere through great contention between those of a higher power. In lines 450 476, Book VI, Aeneas states in a speech to Dido, sed me iussa deum, quae nunc has ire per umbras, per loca senta situ cogunt noctemque profundam, imperiis egere suis; (I was commanded by gods, who drove me by their decrees, that now force me to go among the shades, through places thorny with neglect, and deepest night). Aeneas most recent endeavor was to travel to Hades, among the shades, where no one before had gone and come back unscathed. Aeneas, forced to attempt the impossible, ventures into the underworld. The lines 384 425 in the Aeneid book 6 most directly correlate with the suffering theme that is found throughout the passages. The underworld is a dark and depressing place, where it seems as though the only light sources are the pits of lava and fires brewing about. The first rule I chose was the seventh rule of tactics, Alinsky states, A tactic that drags on for too long becomes a drag. Commitment may become ritualistic as people turn to other issues. . I agree with the purpose of this rule because people need variety in an organization or else they get bored. An estimated 8,000 people dead and about 300,000 more suffering from its effects. Bloated carcasses of cattle dotted the streets. Tree and plant leaves were yellow and brittle. The overwhelming population in Bhopal means very few jobs that are out there for the public. Even a meager, low paying job is welcomed as a way to avoid abject poverty (15). The bottom class of society, workers and job seekers take any job they can find if they are fortunate. If they are lucky, they will be found in such places as small industries around the city like the glue factory, the bone mills, the tannery center, the distillery, the slaughterhouse, and the straw products factory. Otherwise, these people work as sidewalk vendors who shine shoes, give haircuts or clean ears (15). They can also find jobs as street cleaners or in communal sewing centers. In addition to these unofficial social classes, Hindus in Bhopal and throughout India adhere to a rigid caste system that further separates people into classes (15). It is very hard to change caste to a higher standard of living and converse with a higher class. But if some individuals have the desire to change caste, they can through immense effort, talent, and luck; one may change caste by gaining prominence in a certain occupation (17). The caste system offers little flexibility in village life, politics, and in marriage. Religion also plays a part in this caste; only Hindus can have caste. When partners expecting to become parents discover that one or both of them have fertility problems, they face a variety of options to bring a child into their lives. They could choose the option of adopting a child, or they may choose from a variation of medical technologies. They must decide whether they prefer the uncertainties and complexities of the adoption process or of the medical response to infertility. All options carry risks for both the mother and fetus, and they may also be expensive. Many techniques are also not covered by insurance policies. Medication that includes drugs such as Clomid, Serophene, and Pergonal can also be used to stimulate ovulation and increase a woman s chances of becoming pregnant, but these drugs can increase the likelihood that the woman will have multiple births, which is risky for both the woman and the fetus. • 31. Benjamin Franklin and His Contribution to the American... Benjamin Franklin was one of the most influential men of the eighteenth century. He was the only man to sign all of these four major documents: the Declaration of Independence, the Treaty of Alliance with France, the Constitution of the United States, and the Treaty of Peace with Great Britain. Franklin was an inventor, a philosopher, a writer, a musician, and he actively participated in many congressional articles used by the government of the United States of America. His tombstone, however, simply referred to him as printer , reflecting his great humility. One of the things he was most influential in was the separation of the American colonies from British rule. In fact, Benjamin Franklin was vital to the success of the American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Franklin realized that this was mostly a declaration of independence from England, which hadn t gained enough support amongst the Americans for Benjamin to force a vote. So, it can be concluded, Franklin was very much ahead of his time in writing the Articles as America now uses the proportional representation system when electing officials and Congress eventually wrote a declaration against British rule anyway. Franklin would often go on missions for Congress. The first trip was to Cambridge in October 1775. His second mission was to Canada in March 1776. Throughout the second trip, Franklin became severely ill and, upon his return home, he was bedridden for months. While Franklin was still lying sick in his bed, he was appointed as chairman of a committee whose purpose was to draft a declaration of America s independence. The committee also included Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Robert Livingston, and Roger Sherman. Jefferson composed the core of the document. When he had finished his first draft, he asked Franklin to make any alterations that he felt necessary. Franklin made a few changes, such as We hold these truths to be sacred and undeniable to We hold these truths to be self evident . On July 2, the Continental Congress voted for independence. The declaration was passed two days later on July 4. A month later on August 2, the official signing took place. John ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Emotional Intelligence In Nursing The literature review expands introducing, and critically analysing, the publications which incorporate emotional intelligence in the study of attainment and attrition in nursing, and in other health related professions. The review covers empirical studies which examined selection, retention, clinical performance, working in teams, stress, burnout and the quality of patient care. There were no examples found that reported on emotional intelligence and its relationship to attainment and attrition in student nurses and midwives. The closest examples involved: the relationship between emotional intelligence and practice attainment in qualified nurses; using emotional intelligence criteria to score medical students for selection at interview; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are numerous examples of poor clinical practice in nursing (Halldorsdottir, 1997; Reynolds, 1998) and while there may be many factors responsible for this, consensus is growing that there may be a correlation between EI and clinical practice performance in nursing (Cadman and Brewer, 2001). Given the recent developments in producing measures of EI, (Bar On, 1997; Schutte et al, 1998, 2007; Mayer et al, 2002; Petrides et al, 2003) it may now be possible to establish whether EI could be measured in student nurse applicants and the score used as a predictor of success at the interview stage, along with the ability to achieve outcomes later in practice. There are certainly sufficient examples of robust measurement tools, that would enable the debate to move beyond speculation over the introduction of emotional intelligence in nursing, ... • 33. Learning Styles And Techniques Of Teaching During my class in Curriculum, Methods, and Assessments: Science and Math, I have had the opportunity to observe two different mathematic teachers. Through those observations I have gained great knowledge and understanding. I was exposed to different teaching, learning styles and techniques. Being able to observe a few different classrooms has given me an opportunity to witness different aspects of teaching. Through all of my observations during college of teachers I am confident that teaching is what I want to do with the rest of my life. I will touch on a few topics from my observation throughout my paper such as, the objective of the lesson, types of methods the teachers used, differentiation instruction, ways the teachers assess learning in the classroom and changes that I could make to the lesson. For my observations at Metzger Middle School, I had the opportunity to observe Ms. Williams and Ms. James sixth grade Mathematics classrooms. During Ms. Williams first period she had a Co Teacher to assist her students that were ESLs (1 student) and IEP/504 (5 students). A student that was in a wheelchair was also amongst the students; accommodations were made for this student, for example; the co teacher had the student that was sitting in the first chair by the door move back a desk so that the student could put his chair up the desk. Some of the methods that the teacher provided were mathematical reference sheets and formula charts to help them when answering ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Food and Beverage Control Systems Food and beverage control systems Food and beverage control systems can help you introduce the same financial rigour to your dining establishment or catering company that you ll find in manufacturing operations. What is a food and beverage control system? A food and beverage control system is a means of computerizing best practice within a restaurant or catering operation. It gives managers a better idea of the flow of food through the restaurant, enabling them to plan cash flow and stock control more effectively. Creating a database of suppliers and ingredients will enable you to manage ingredient pricing more effectively. Nutrition More applicable for specialist dining establishments (such as those in hospitals) or catering companies, the ability to provide nutritional information on the food you serve can offer you a competitive edge, and reassure customers particularly in areas such as school dinners, for example. Recipe management Many chefs either work from memory without any clear recipe, or have incomplete recipes that they do not follow. Codifying recipes helps you to manage your ingredients more effectively, while building in standard estimates for wastage (such as the yield after peeling and chopping vegetables, or the wastage caused by evaporation and transfer of a cream sauce from bowl to bowl). This will help you to price your food more accurately. If you know exactly what a meal costs to make, you can price it more accurately to undercut the competition while still making a quantifiable profit. When looking at recipe management, consider the ability to nest recipes, because most recipes are made up of multiple others. And a function to scale recipes easily for different quantities will be invaluable for busy chefs.
