Health Information Technology
Introduction: Office of National coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) has funded
this program to find breakthrough innovations in the field of Health Information Technology (IT). This
research program was awarded $60 million and this program is divided into four focus areas. This
program brings together researchers, healthcare providers, and other health IT sector stakeholders in
order to transform the research products into practice. This program is designed to improve quality,
safety and efficiency of healthcare using advanced information technology. According to Healthit.gov
current adoption rates of health IT in different states we see that some states are better than others [1],
hence this program is designed to find the factors that are hindering the adoption of health IT and the
products developed using this project should help propagate the growth of health IT. This program has
both short term and long term related goals hence they focus both on current and future needs of
health IT products. I have selected this program because it is important to understand the factors that
are effecting healthcare practices health IT adoption and work towards analyzing and finding solutions
to those problems, so that there is a 100% rate of adoption and data flow is seamless between the
healthcare practices. This program helps keep the maintenance cost of the products developed to
minimal as it focuses both short and long term needs. There are 4 focus areas to

Righteousness In The Canterbury Tales
In The General Prologue to the Canterbury Tales, Geoffrey Chaucer uses the value of righteousness to
clearly distinguish between the pilgrims the exceptional, the decent and the terrible. The goodness of
the pilgrims is determined, by Chaucer, based on his or her ability to adhere to their own superior
moral standards. Some pilgrims, like the Parson and the Plowman, are highly praised by Chaucer for
their righteous qualities. Some on the other hand like the Summoner and Pardoner, are chastised for
their dishonorable ways of living. Chaucer is sometimes discreet in giving praise and sometimes gives
the praise outright. His knack for sarcasm gives the reader a good idea of what he clearly finds
unadmirable as he pokes at the good qualities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are clearly characters who are nothing but righteous, following a moral path and making
decisions because it s the right thing to do not because of what they will get out of it. However, there
are also vulgar and corrupt characters who act out of greed and desire. The highly praised ones are the
ones that know what the right thing to do is, and do it. The ones Chaucer scolds are the ones who have
unjust motives behind all of their actions and never think twice about it. Though Chaucer values
righteousness, being righteous today won t get anyone far. The definition of right or wrong is now
highly debated and the wrong thing is very easy to do behind the screen of technology. Also, though
being righteous is undoubtedly a good quality, today it is often overlooked and not appreciated as well
as it should be. However, based on Chaucer s preferences towards certain characters who exhibit
moral behavior, righteousness is exactly what he values in

Human Trafficking Papers
Human Trafficking
Today in the United States human trafficking takes many forms. Human Trafficking is crime that
shames us all but continues to happen everyday. There are many causes and impacts of human
trafficking, but laws and preventative measures are helping to combat the problem.
Human Trafficking is a crime that happens all around the world. There are many laws that were put in
place to combat the problem but the problem still remains. Human Traffickers target people who are
unsuspecting alone and weak. Traffickers profit most after natural disasters when people are misplaced
homeless and in need of security. People of third world countries are also at a very high risk for the
most common forms of trafficking such as organ, sex, labor and or, being soldiers in a war the victim
had no idea existed prior to be thrown into it. Around the world one in five victims of human
trafficking are children. Children are taken for the purpose of becoming beggars or pick pockets.
Children are seen as better to work in factories due to their tiny hands deemed better for untangling
fishnets, sewing luxury goods and picking coca.
Women make up two thirds of the victims of human trafficking, the majority of women who are
trafficked are lured into it by false promises of employment but are drugged raped and drugged, taken
captive, beaten or threatened with violence.
The most common form of trafficking detected by Interpol in 2015 was for the purpose of sexual
exploitation. United

This Is Audie Murphy Essay
This is Audie Murphy s life story. At the tender age of 12, he becomes the head of the family after his
father deserts them. He joins the army at the age of 18 and through the course of the war is decorated
for valor nine times thus becoming the most decorated combat soldier in World War II. Audie does one
of the bravest acts any soldier ever did during the war. He climbs aboard a burning tank destroyer and
single handedly keeps the enemy from advancing on his position. He spends almost an hour on top of
the tank destroyer until his ammunition is exhausted. Seconds later after climbing off the tank
destroyer, it explodes. For this action, Audie receives the Medal of Honor.

Grand Narrative Analysis
One source of support for the legitimacy of science follows from the so called grand narrative which
presents a view of science as an objective, autonomous, self regulating and self correcting process.
Jerry Francis identifies three (3) underpinnings to the legitimacy of science but then notes that
scientific misconduct does occur. Based upon these three (3) mechanisms, briefly explain how or
where the grand narrative is likely to be at least partially naïve or idealistic.
Francis (1989) identifies three structures that underpin the legitimacy of the scientific grand narrative .
However, the dichotomy between the scientist s personal goals, and collective scientific goals means
that these structures are fundamentally flawed. There are three specific instances in which the
ideology of the grand narrative is flawed by human nature.
Firstly, rewards are not just internal. The grand narrative exists in a universe where everyone doing
research is solely motivated to produce research without any pressure from anything outside of their
desire to produce high quality research. However, this is idealistic. The reality is that researchers have
multiple sources of pressure to conduct and publish beyond their desire to do so. This shifts the
dynamics of grand narrative and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the siloed, specialist nature of research, papers are likely to be reviewed by their direct
competitors who have incentive to discredit contrary results. Additionally, researchers face incentives
geared towards quantity not quality of papers produced. Finally, the top schools have an uneven

compounded by the fact that those reviewing are most likely from top universities themselves and

The Environmental Case
Commons are resources that people have access to, and there is no payment required to use those
resources. Examples of these types of resources are lakes, rivers, oceans, public green spaces, roads,
ocean fisheries and many others. A tragedy of commons is when a person finds his share of cost of
waste he discharges into common areas that other people use, is less than cost of purifying wastes
before releasing them. Many people do not realize that some of their actions are affecting people more
than they know. By adding to the tragedy of commons they are making resources less available for
others. In Layzer s The Environmental Case gives a classic example of the tragedy of commons by
discussing the Crisis and Recovery in the New England Fisheries. With this case it talks about how
since there is no regulation on fishing people are fishing and taking such large amounts of fish it is
affecting the amount of fish for other people and making the resources of certain types of fish scarce.
According to Layzer As more fishermen enter a fishery, each one eventually experiences declining
yields for the same unit of effort (in this situation fish). As the profit margin ... Show more content on

If all the fishermen worked together and agreed on a plan to not over fish than that would be a step in
the right direction to fixing the problem. Dealing with a common problem is not something that can be
solved by one person but it takes one person to start the movement to fixing the problem. In the Crisis
and Recovery in the New England Fisheries one solution was to create property rights. To do this an
ITQ or Individual Transferable Quotas need to be distributed to the fishermen. With an ITQ each
individual fishermen or fishing enterprise would receive one and with that each person would get an
exclusive rights to a fishery. They then would be allowed to take a certain amount of fish in that

The Federal Government s Effect on Renewable Energy in...
The Federal Government s Effect on Renewable Energy in the United States
In an article posted by Reuters on October 24, 2006, the global conservation group, formerly known as
the WWF, stated that humans are stripping nature at an unprecedented rate and will need two planets
worth of natural resources every year by 2050 on current trends (Blanchard). The report indicates that,
if every other country were to use the same amount of energy as America does, five planets worth of
resources would be needed to support the world. America, as one of the largest consumer countries of
energy, has been making attempts to implement methods for using alternate energy sources in order to
preserve the already dwindling resources of its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, very few realize the urgency in dramatically improving our living conditions in order to
preserve the resources that are diminishing in front of our eyes. In the early 1990s, scientific
researchers began recognizing the shifting experienced in global climate change. Upon acknowledging
the fact that global warming did exist, scientists sought after ways to alleviate this developing social
problem. In order to use sources already existing in our environment, alternative energy resources,
such as solar energy, have come to the forefront in solutions. The implementation of technologies that
use solar energy, that is any form of energy radiated by the sun, date back to A.D. 100 when Northern
Italian summer homes with windowed rooms were constructed using thin sheets of mica or selenite
(Skylar and Sheinkopf 7). From that time forward, inventors have created ways in which solar energy
can be used to fuel our daily lives. Innovations in solar water heating, solar pool heating, solar
electricity, and even solar cooking are currently offered as an alternate means of energy. The question
remains, however, as to why more Americans are not taking advantage of these accessible energy
saving resources. In comparison to other energies used to fuel the nation, solar energy is the cleanest,
safest, most environmentally gentle energy option the United States has

Correlation Between Earnings And Share Prices Essay
Question 1
The diagram illustrates the studies by Beaver, Clarke and Wright (1979) and Foster, Olsen and Shevlin
(1984). The studies are based on the Ball Brown study regarding the relationship between earnings
and share prices. This diagram shows that the size and sign of unexpected Earnings per Share (EPS) is
related to the sign and size of cumulative Abnormal Return (AR).
The graph represents the portfolio in ranking order based on the forecast error and EPS. There are 10
portfolios in which the first portfolio has the most negative forecast error and EPS while the tenth
portfolio has the most positive forecast error and EPS. This means that Portfolio 1 is the worst
performing firm in regarding the earnings (most negative share price reaction) while Portfolio 10 is
the best performing firm (most positive share price reaction). Based on the fourth and fifth portfolio,
the share reaction is very small. The negative abnormal return in portfolio 4 is pretty much negligible
and the same can be said in portfolio 5 where there is only a slight positive share price reaction. This
is due to the fact that the information is not too much of a surprise for the shareholders to react hugely.
Therefore, it can be said that from portfolio 1 to 4, they are the bad news firms while portfolio 5 to 10
are the good news firms.
In conclusion, the hypothesis made by the studies is proven to be correct. The firm with the most
negative forecast error and EPS has the most negative AR and

Comparing El Paso, Texas And London Essay
Imagine yourself moving to a different city. You have looked at all the cities you would most likely
move to and you have finally picked out that El Paso, Texas and London, England are your two final
choices. After narrowing down the options to two cities its important to look at similarities and
differences. Although El Paso, Texas and London, England are similar in their cheap housing and
exuberant job opportunities, they differ in their getaways, job opportunities, and housing. El Paso and
London are very similar in that the cities don t only offer housing at a very affordable rate, but also
have created ways to employ its citizens. The similarities between the cities affordable homes is that
both are using cheaper areas to reconstruct or build new homes. This causes cheaper rent and
mortgages. A similar way the cities are creating jobs is through teaching skills. El Paso offers the Jobs
Corps which provides a counselor to walk students through steps in getting a job. London also offers a
mentor to help guide employees through the daily routines and requirements to get the job. The two
similarities of the cities are just a few, but there are differences as well. El Paso has many enjoyable
adventures. Pamela Porter quotes Mike Episcopo saying, You ve got 2 million peopl in the El Paso
Juarez area, but when you get up in the canyons, it s like you r in the middle of nowhere (qtd. in Porter

Jackson was called for a technical foul as well as being taken out of the game after his third or fourth

that the theme of the positive thread would have been much more negative. It would have been more
about how young and immature he is and how he is costing the team because he cannot control his
emotions. Comments such as these further the argument that fans have a very short sided view of

During the tenth week of my HUMI 1 class, I was deeply intrigued with the topic of disruption
because it was something that I always viewed as a negative but soon found out that it can also be
seen and used as a benefit. Charles Eisenstein discusses how disruption can be seen as a form of
raising awareness towards something. You get the idea that we as people, are sometimes too far in the
moment to realize what is happening around us as we are indulged in our own activities. When that
occurs, disruption comes into play allowing for us to be conscious of our surroundings and the
importance of something. Because disruption is something that I have experience with, I wanted to

The Effective Use Of Social Media
Social media became more prominent in business world along the growth of social media. The study
of the usage of social media in fortune 500 1and Inc. 5002 shows that large number of companies is
very familiar to social media and adopts them to run their business (Barnes, 2010). Several kinds of
social media are around nowadays, however, not all of them are effective in business. Although the
adoption rate of social media is growing year by year, some kind of social media are declining such as

Benefit from Social media
In the first place, what type of company dose use social media? Even though social media is
prominent in business nowadays, it is not for all business. For example, if a company in niche market
has business with only a few customers, a direct communication or advertising is more efficient and
effective rather than using social media. Furthermore, using social media has some risks too, such as
illegal act or the abuse of social media by employees. Thus a company has to ensure the environment
is managed in accordance with use of social media.

Compare And Contrast Greek And Persian Empires
The Greece and Persian Empires There were four great multicultural Empires in our world s history
Ancient Greece, The Roman Empire, Persia and China. I am going to focus on Ancient Greece and the
Persian Empire, what geographical features did each region offer to help the people build these great
empires, what were some of the cultures of this empires, and what changes did they have over time?
Going further into details on the Persian Empire, who were two of the leaders and what contributions
did they make to Persia, what methods did they use to expand the region and gain power? How did the
political system change over time?
Ancient Greece is found to be on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean, due to its location it was
possible to trade with other parts of the area and not depend solely on crops grown in the area. The
region of the Mediterranean where Greece is found is on the coast of the Aegean Sea it contains
rugged mountains, and valleys. Being on the coast made the use of ships necessary this also put the
people of Greece at risk for land attacks from armies bigger than the Greek armies. Also the region
was at risk for volcanos, large ocean storms, and catastrophic earthquakes that could destroy cities
without notice. In Persia there were two groups of people who settled the in the region who left a
major impact on the area s history the Medes and the Persians. The Medes were found in the Zagros

Many Symbols in the Scarlett Letter
Roger Ebert said, If you have to ask what it symbolizes, it didn t. There are many symbols in The
Scarlet Letter. The most known one was the letter itself. The meaning of the letter appears clear at first
but as the book progresses you see the letter s meaning shift with Hester s character. The magistrates
intended the letter to represent the sin of adultery. And while of course, people did shun her at the very
beginning, the shaming technique could not weather the test of time. The A soon began to lose its
shameful meaning and instead become a symbolic example of Hester s courage and show that public
shaming cannot compete with one s own means of self torture. To begin, the scarlet letter had lost its
meaning over the course of time. Then, also, the blameless purity of her life during all these years in
which she had been set apart to infamy was reckoned largely in her favor. (Chapter XIII) The author s
purpose is to call attention to the Puritan s weak shaming system. For example, if the person being
subjected to the humiliation does not draw attention to them self, the villagers will lose interest in the
crime; this allows the villagers a healing time. In Hester s case the people were able to see her in a
new light. Such helpfulness was found in her so much power to do and power to sympathize that many
people refused to interpret the scarlet A by its original signification. They said that it meant Able ; so

The Debate Over Abortion

Laws vs. The Right to Life
The debate over abortion has divided Americans into polarized sides since the Supreme Court s 7 2
decision in Roe v. Wade on January 22, 1973, where the Court deemed abortion a fundamental right
under the United States Constitution. The lawsuit began when Norma McCorvey became pregnant
with her third child in 1969 and could not get a legal abortion in Texas. With her attorneys, they filed a
lawsuit. Roe v. Wade reached Supreme Court appeal in 1970 (Rovner). At this time, there were a few
related court cases whose decisions directly affected McCorvey s case. Griswold v. Connecticut
decided that there is a right to privacy in the Constitution. Younger v. Harris decided that federal
courts could not hear civil right cases by a person currently being prosecuted for a matter arising from
that claim. In U.S. v. Vuitch, the court ruled to criminalize abortion with the exception if the mother s
life was endangered and it also labeled abortion as an emergency medical procedure (Masci). These
cases laid out a foundation for McCorvey s attorneys as the rulings were then applied to her case,
benefitting their arguments tremendously.
This official governmental interference allowed for federal action and resulted in legalized abortion
nationwide under the three tiered system regarding the three trimesters in a pregnancy.. However,
despite this landmark decision in U.S.

industry (Ovans, A., 2015). As business decided elements necessary to accomplish goal and
objectives, they must consider many factor that influence business models. According to Band

Examples Of Foolishness In Romeo And Juliet
Foolishness is the lack of foresight and thought possessed by people without enough life experience or
good sense. This idea is thoroughly established throughout the play Romeo and Juliet where William
Shakespeare has illustrated foolishness as a trait blameworthy which can lead to major consequences
if not controlled. This has rendered Romeo and Juliet to be a play so commonly recognized. Because
of specific evidence throughout the play, it becomes clear that that naivety only leads to recklessness
and tragedy. This is exhibited by the choices of Capulet and Lady Capulet, seen throughout the
personality of Romeo, and then finally displayed by the actions of Juliet. Capulet and Lady Capulet

materials were procured from Solaronix. In a typical synthesis process, the reaction solution was
prepared by mixing 6g of Zinc acetate dihydrate in 70:30 ratio of ethanol/water. The ZnO precursor
containing In dopant was prepared with 0.0, 1.0, 3.0 and 5.0 mole % of indium. A thick white gel was
formed after the addition of NaOH into the reaction solution, the mixture was kept under magnetic
stirring for 24h to provide perfect growth, the resulting white gel was dried and finally calcined at
200ºC for 5h. The as prepared pristine ZnO:P and ZnO:In3+ samples were characterized via X ray

The Basic Characteristics Of Ip V4
Throughout chapters 5 through 8, many topics have been discussed in class and practiced on lab days.
Starting off with chapter 5, OSI Network Layer: various topics are discussed which include; IP v4, the
Network Layer, to routing tables. The basic characteristics of IP v4 are that it is connectionless, the
best effort is unreliable and is unaware of the quality of its job, and it is also media independent. Time
to Live (TTL) is the 8 bit TTL field that describes the maximum hops that a packet can take before it
is considered lost , which means that the packet is undeliverable. Each time a packet visits a router, the
TTL decreases by 1. If the packet reaches a 0 TTL, it is dropped. When a packet is dropped this helps

The routing table is a table that stores information about connected and remote networks, and it has
three features. The three features of a routing table are 1) destination network, 2) next hop and 3)
metric. Packets are unable to be forwarded by the router without a route. If a route that is representing
the destination network is not on the routing table, the packet will not be forwarded, and instead will
be dropped. When the router is forwarding a packet, it uses the default route, which is used when the
network is not represented by any other route in the routing table. On the other hand, static routing is
the route that information can be manually configured on in the router. Static routes are reliable and
the router does not need to use much overhead to process the packets that are being transferred viz
static routing. However the static routes do not update automatically, and they have a higher
continuing administrative cost. Dynamic routing was another routing type that was taught in chapter 5.
Dynamic routing is when routers can also learn about routes automatically from other routers in the
same internetwork Dynamic routing has higher router processing overhead but little administrative
cost after initial setup. The following chapter that was taught was chapter 6, addressing the Network

Introduction. So, While Doing My Best To Effectively Research
Introduction
So, while doing my best to effectively research the subject enough to write a paper on it, it became
rather apparent that I was not mathematically inclined enough to fully understand how the law actually
works. However, I was able to understand that the law has gone through a very long period of time
where researchers and theorists have worked and worked to prove that there is some form of proof that
this is more than a random occurrence, but still haven t come up with any REAL answer or proof. To
be more clear, most of the literature about the history of the subject, stretches so far as to say that
people truly believed that Benford s Law was more of a strange coincidence, or an act of god, rather
than proof of statistical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The actual measures of probability were discovered by the creator of Benford s Law, Frank Benford,
when he decided to test a strange occurrence described by an American astronomer by the name of
Simon Newcomb. In 1881, Newcomb noticed that the earlier pages of a textbook containing logarithm
tables, mainly with the leading number of one, were significantly more worn that latter pages. Benford
decided to see if there actually was a statistical reasoning to this.
Is this Relevant?
Benford took Newcomb s findings to a new level and began taking roughly 20,229 different
observations from a varied range of areas all the way from residential addresses to death rates
throughout many different areas. It was through this that he placed a value on the probability of the
occurrence of certain numbers within groups of related numerical data, thus providing the values
displayed above. (Nigrini, 1999) Considering the relatedness of the groups of numbers, but not exactly
the same context, we can then assume that Benford s Law would hold true for any group of related
data.
Hiding within another document I poured myself into in order to better understand the subject, I
noticed another coincidence. The article reiterated much of the background information regarding the
law and what it is for, but further down the line it provided another form of testing. It discussed that

The Mystery Behind King Tut Essay
The Mystery Behind King Tut; Life and Death of the Boy King.
By all accounts, King Tutankhamun ascended to the throne at the tender young age of 9 years,
inheriting a tumultuous populace after the reign of the radical Pharaoh, Akhenaten. The young king s
reign was cut short when he died prematurely, when he was around 19 years of age, leaving no
surviving son to follow as his successor.
For 3 000 or so years following his death, Tutankhamun remained an elusive figure, with little detail
about his life. With the discovery of his tomb in 1922 by Archaeologist Howard Carter, the mystery
only deepened.
The most burning question; how did he die?

Tut, who had dies over 3, 000 years ago, is not about to give up his secrets easily, and we are left to
resort to science and technology to solve the mystery. There are three recurring theories that try to
explain his death; chariot accident, illness, or, more sinisterly, murder.
The murder theory inflamed when the first x ray test of the mummy in 1968 indicated an inter cranial
bone fragment lodged within the skull suggesting a blow to the death. Pharaohs were regarded as
living Gods, even more than the political and religious leader, and to kill the Pharaoh was
inconceivable. Throughout history, there are very few instances that record a Pharaoh being
assassinated, and in Tut s case too the murder theory was discarded when conclusive evidence
emerged that showed that the damage had been done after the mummification.
Unfortunately, Tut s mummy sustained heavy damage when Carter attempted to remove the body from
the confining space which housed it. Further damage occurred when the death mask, which had stuck
to the face and torso was removed. Therefore it is difficult to say that the extensive bone damage had
occurred when Tut was alive, the result of a devastating

Essay On Health Disparities
Disparities in health care are significant in the United States and the root causes are multifactorial.
Social determinants of health such as poverty, socioeconomic status, access to resources, and patient
education influence health outcomes. Emerging data has shown health literacy as a potential
contributor to health disparities that impact health and lifestyle choices (Yee, 2017). Health literacy,
characterized as a skill set necessary to understand health information, involves communication skills
of both patient and health professionals as well as cultural factors. For example, low health literacy

Concentration of media ownership refers to the process where progressively fewer individuals or

because a lack of people in control of what is consumed every day leads to a lack of diversity in the

makes the choice to sacrifice self identity to care for her mentally ill husband Pierre. In the beginning
of the book The Wall and Other Stories Sartre invites us to interpret the text from an existentialist
point of view. So we must understand Sartre philosophical meaning of life.
What is the meaning of life? Jean Paul Sartre defines life as first accepting our own faults and
strengths, to then understand that the world exists regardless of our actions, and it is only when we

For Sartre, the moment Eve decides she will kill Pierre , when his mind is lost to his dementia, is the
most sane thing Eve does. She has been faced with a truth, Pierre is in sane without any possibility for
recovery, and she takes that moment and makes a choice to end his suffering and hers. She is not
hiding from the choice and is taking responsibility for that action. Hence in sanity is Pierre s life and
self identity, but Eve has another identity to explore. Eve can t merely state I am the wife of a mentally
ill husband, but I am Eve now what am I going to do. What I am I to do with this external force and

In order for love, friendship to occur your desire to please the other will undoubtedly cause a friction
with your inner self. At some point you must deny your desire for the other, or deny your humanity.
Also the object in life, your choice, and the others choice must be mended harmoniously. Otherwise,

Kendall Jenning Pepsi s Share A Coke With The World
The intended purpose of the Kendall Jenner Pepsi Ad is for Pepsi to increase their sales with a
younger crowd. PepsiCo tried incorporating cultural and political views into their ad to influence the
Millennials to buy their product because the younger generation is involved and outspoken about the
current political situation. If one would watch this commercial even once they would think that
PepsiCo is trying to make this advertisement the equivalent of Coca Cola s Share a Coke with the
World advertisement.
To illustrate the advertisement, it shows a group of people protesting and no one knows the purpose of
this movement at all. It s just too vague and irrelevant to the commercial. At the present time of this
day and age, the news outlets and media portray the protests as negative pep rallies that are chaotic
and people attack the police. For the purpose of convincing the majority of the world s population that
the protests won t change a thing in today s political world. But there s a second side where people just
stand, hold posters, and not attack the police. This commercial received a great deal of backlashes
because people thought it was trivializing the Baton Rouge and Black Lives Matter protests to sell
beverages. But nothing in the advertisement itself said, Let s degrade this specific movement of
protest to sell carbonated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the commercial comes to an end, the audience watches Jenner and the protesters walking together
and the subtitles at the bottom read Live Bolder. Live Louder. Live for Now. Let s just focus on the
Live for Now part, that s a phrasing similar to the term YOLO. They both have negative connotations
that represent Let s just live in the moment and have no responsibilities or consequences to our
actions. In the event that, people would live by that philosophy, then the next generation would have a
harder time in the

Reflection Paper About Museum
Museum Visit and Reflection I had the opportunity to visit the de Young Museum located at Golden
Gate Park in San Francisco. The de Young is home to collections of American art from the 17th
century to present, African art, oceanic art, art of the Americas, photography and rotating exhibitions. I
had wanted to visit the de Young for some time and finally made my first trip there with my wife. We
decided to time our arrival to the opening of the museum and spent four hours exploring everything
from the artwork on the grounds to the Summer of Love Exhibition. It was a great day and I definitely
felt my mind stretch to comprehend all of the artwork and make the connection to what I have been
learning. In this paper, I will share a description of the different styles of art I viewed, the experience
of viewing art in person and how art is relevant today.
Artists and Artistic Style
While I enjoyed many of the works of art at the museum I will focus on a few pieces that really caught
my attention. The first would be a contemporary sculpture, Anti Mass created by artist Cornelia
Parker. Constructed from wood, nails and wire, Anti Mass was made from the remains of a Southern
Baptist church which was burned by arsonists. Hanging in the air the church represented by charred
wood appears to be exploding outward. For me this was such a powerful statement and made me think
of the violent persecution of African Americans in the south. Because it was constructed from the
remains of a

Lincoln s Attempt To Support D Estaing
American forces in the south, between 5,000 and 7,000 men, were based at Charleston under the
command of General Benjamin Lincoln. Lincoln recognized that he would need assistance from the
French navy and army to retake Savannah. On September 3, he learned that the French forces under
the command of Admiral Comte d Estaing were en route to Savannah, bringing with them ships of the
line and 4,000 soldiers. On September 11, Lincoln marched out of Charleston with 2,000 Continentals
to link up with d Estaing. Arriving first, d Estaing began offensive operations to take the city. He
initially offered Prevost an opportunity to surrender, but Prevost demurred, hoping that reinforcements
would arrive. He was given twenty four hours. This reprieve would prove in the end to be pivotal, as
1,000 men arrived to support Prevost s force just as Lincoln arrived to support d Estaing. The Allied
forces, when fully assembled, numbered near 7,000. Defending Savannah was a force totaling 2,500
men. Faced with overwhelming odds, Prevost organized a solid defensive plan. ... Show more content

Lincoln reluctantly ceded de facto command to d Estaing, who had begun operations before Lincoln s
arrival. The French commander believed that a frontal assault against the British position would be
futile and instead proposed to bombard the city. Lincoln concurred, French cannons were removed
from their ships, and a five day cannonade began. However, Savannah bore the brunt of the artillery
assault while the defensive positions remained relatively untouched, so d Estaing eventually agreed to
the frontal assault in spite of objections by his officers. He worried that a protracted siege would take
too long and wanted to redeem his glory that had been tarnished at Newport, Rhode Island.
Additionally, hurricane season was moving in and the British fleet was still lurking somewhere off the

Framework Of Monetary Policy
The Fed retains a number of monetary policy tools that can be placed against crisis. The first set of

In addition, the usage of Federal Reserve credit is resolved in substantial part by borrower needs and

administration, could in this manner have the unreasonable impact of compelling the Fed to fix the
terms and accessibility of its loaning now and again when economic situations were intensifying, and
vice verse (Financial times, 2011).

  • 3. Righteousness In The Canterbury Tales In The General Prologue to the Canterbury Tales, Geoffrey Chaucer uses the value of righteousness to clearly distinguish between the pilgrims the exceptional, the decent and the terrible. The goodness of the pilgrims is determined, by Chaucer, based on his or her ability to adhere to their own superior moral standards. Some pilgrims, like the Parson and the Plowman, are highly praised by Chaucer for their righteous qualities. Some on the other hand like the Summoner and Pardoner, are chastised for their dishonorable ways of living. Chaucer is sometimes discreet in giving praise and sometimes gives the praise outright. The ones Chaucer scolds are the ones who have unjust motives behind all of their actions and never think twice about it. Though Chaucer values righteousness, being righteous today won t get anyone far. The definition of right or wrong is now highly debated and the wrong thing is very easy to do behind the screen of technology. • 6. Grand Narrative Analysis One source of support for the legitimacy of science follows from the so called grand narrative which presents a view of science as an objective, autonomous, self regulating and self correcting process. Jerry Francis identifies three (3) underpinnings to the legitimacy of science but then notes that scientific misconduct does occur. Based upon these three (3) mechanisms, briefly explain how or where the grand narrative is likely to be at least partially naïve or idealistic. Francis (1989) identifies three structures that underpin the legitimacy of the scientific grand narrative . However, the dichotomy between the scientist s personal goals, and collective scientific goals means that these structures are fundamentally flawed. There are three specific instances in which the ideology of the grand narrative is flawed by human nature. Firstly, rewards are not just internal. The grand narrative exists in a universe where everyone doing research is solely motivated to produce research without any pressure from anything outside of their desire to produce high quality research. However, this is idealistic. The reality is that researchers have multiple sources of pressure to conduct and publish beyond their desire to do so. This shifts the dynamics of grand narrative and ... • 7. The Environmental Case Commons are resources that people have access to, and there is no payment required to use those resources. Examples of these types of resources are lakes, rivers, oceans, public green spaces, roads, ocean fisheries and many others. A tragedy of commons is when a person finds his share of cost of waste he discharges into common areas that other people use, is less than cost of purifying wastes before releasing them. Many people do not realize that some of their actions are affecting people more than they know. By adding to the tragedy of commons they are making resources less available for others. In Layzer s The Environmental Case gives a classic example of the tragedy of commons by discussing the Crisis and Recovery in the New England Fisheries. With this case it talks about how since there is no regulation on fishing people are fishing and taking such large amounts of fish it is affecting the amount of fish for other people and making the resources of certain types of fish scarce. According to Layzer As more fishermen enter a fishery, each one eventually experiences declining yields for the same unit of effort (in this situation fish). As the profit margin ... In the early 1990s, scientific researchers began recognizing the shifting experienced in global climate change. In order to use sources already existing in our environment, alternative energy resources, such as solar energy, have come to the forefront in solutions. The implementation of technologies that use solar energy, that is any form of energy radiated by the sun, date back to A.D. 100 when Northern Italian summer homes with windowed rooms were constructed using thin sheets of mica or selenite (Skylar and Sheinkopf 7). From that time forward, inventors have created ways in which solar energy can be used to fuel our daily lives. Innovations in solar water heating, solar pool heating, solar electricity, and even solar cooking are currently offered as an alternate means of energy. • 9. Correlation Between Earnings And Share Prices Essay Question 1 The diagram illustrates the studies by Beaver, Clarke and Wright (1979) and Foster, Olsen and Shevlin (1984). The studies are based on the Ball Brown study regarding the relationship between earnings and share prices. This diagram shows that the size and sign of unexpected Earnings per Share (EPS) is related to the sign and size of cumulative Abnormal Return (AR). The graph represents the portfolio in ranking order based on the forecast error and EPS. There are 10 portfolios in which the first portfolio has the most negative forecast error and EPS while the tenth portfolio has the most positive forecast error and EPS. This means that Portfolio 1 is the worst performing firm in regarding the earnings (most negative share price reaction) while Portfolio 10 is the best performing firm (most positive share price reaction). Based on the fourth and fifth portfolio, the share reaction is very small. The negative abnormal return in portfolio 4 is pretty much negligible and the same can be said in portfolio 5 where there is only a slight positive share price reaction. This is due to the fact that the information is not too much of a surprise for the shareholders to react hugely. Therefore, it can be said that from portfolio 1 to 4, they are the bad news firms while portfolio 5 to 10 are the good news firms. In conclusion, the hypothesis made by the studies is proven to be correct. The firm with the most negative forecast error and EPS has the most negative AR and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The meaning of the letter appears clear at first but as the book progresses you see the letter s meaning shift with Hester s character. The magistrates intended the letter to represent the sin of adultery. And while of course, people did shun her at the very beginning, the shaming technique could not weather the test of time. The A soon began to lose its shameful meaning and instead become a symbolic example of Hester s courage and show that public shaming cannot compete with one s own means of self torture. To begin, the scarlet letter had lost its meaning over the course of time. Then, also, the blameless purity of her life during all these years in which she had been set apart to infamy was reckoned largely in her favor. Eskandari Political Science 101 SBCC April 19, 2015 T/R 11:10 Laws vs. The Right to Life The debate over abortion has divided Americans into polarized sides since the Supreme Court s 7 2 decision in Roe v. Wade on January 22, 1973, where the Court deemed abortion a fundamental right under the United States Constitution. The lawsuit began when Norma McCorvey became pregnant with her third child in 1969 and could not get a legal abortion in Texas. With her attorneys, they filed a lawsuit. Roe v. Wade reached Supreme Court appeal in 1970 (Rovner). At this time, there were a few related court cases whose decisions directly affected McCorvey s case. Griswold v. Connecticut decided that there is a right to privacy in the Constitution. Younger v. Harris decided that federal courts could not hear civil right cases by a person currently being prosecuted for a matter arising from that claim. In U.S. v. Vuitch, the court ruled to criminalize abortion with the exception if the mother s life was endangered and it also labeled abortion as an emergency medical procedure (Masci). These cases laid out a foundation for McCorvey s attorneys as the rulings were then applied to her case, benefitting their arguments tremendously. This official governmental interference allowed for federal action and resulted in legalized abortion nationwide under the three tiered system regarding the three trimesters in a pregnancy.. • 22. Examples Of Foolishness In Romeo And Juliet Foolishness is the lack of foresight and thought possessed by people without enough life experience or good sense. This idea is thoroughly established throughout the play Romeo and Juliet where William Shakespeare has illustrated foolishness as a trait blameworthy which can lead to major consequences if not controlled. This has rendered Romeo and Juliet to be a play so commonly recognized. Because of specific evidence throughout the play, it becomes clear that that naivety only leads to recklessness and tragedy. This is exhibited by the choices of Capulet and Lady Capulet, seen throughout the personality of Romeo, and then finally displayed by the actions of Juliet. Starting off with chapter 5, OSI Network Layer: various topics are discussed which include; IP v4, the Network Layer, to routing tables. The basic characteristics of IP v4 are that it is connectionless, the best effort is unreliable and is unaware of the quality of its job, and it is also media independent. Time to Live (TTL) is the 8 bit TTL field that describes the maximum hops that a packet can take before it is considered lost , which means that the packet is undeliverable. Each time a packet visits a router, the TTL decreases by 1. If the packet reaches a 0 TTL, it is dropped. When a packet is dropped this helps the internet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The routing table is a table that stores information about connected and remote networks, and it has three features. The three features of a routing table are 1) destination network, 2) next hop and 3) metric. Packets are unable to be forwarded by the router without a route. If a route that is representing the destination network is not on the routing table, the packet will not be forwarded, and instead will be dropped. When the router is forwarding a packet, it uses the default route, which is used when the network is not represented by any other route in the routing table. On the other hand, static routing is the route that information can be manually configured on in the router. Static routes are reliable and the router does not need to use much overhead to process the packets that are being transferred viz static routing. However the static routes do not update automatically, and they have a higher continuing administrative cost. Dynamic routing was another routing type that was taught in chapter 5. Dynamic routing is when routers can also learn about routes automatically from other routers in the same internetwork Dynamic routing has higher router processing overhead but little administrative cost after initial setup. However, I was able to understand that the law has gone through a very long period of time where researchers and theorists have worked and worked to prove that there is some form of proof that this is more than a random occurrence, but still haven t come up with any REAL answer or proof. The actual measures of probability were discovered by the creator of Benford s Law, Frank Benford, when he decided to test a strange occurrence described by an American astronomer by the name of Simon Newcomb. In 1881, Newcomb noticed that the earlier pages of a textbook containing logarithm tables, mainly with the leading number of one, were significantly more worn that latter pages. Benford decided to see if there actually was a statistical reasoning to this. Is this Relevant? Benford took Newcomb s findings to a new level and began taking roughly 20,229 different observations from a varied range of areas all the way from residential addresses to death rates throughout many different areas. It was through this that he placed a value on the probability of the occurrence of certain numbers within groups of related numerical data, thus providing the values displayed above. (Nigrini, 1999) Considering the relatedness of the groups of numbers, but not exactly the same context, we can then assume that Benford s Law would hold true for any group of related data. Hiding within another document I poured myself into in order to better understand the subject, I noticed another coincidence. The article reiterated much of the background information regarding the law and what it is for, but further down the line it provided another form of testing. It discussed that for their ... The murder theory inflamed when the first x ray test of the mummy in 1968 indicated an inter cranial bone fragment lodged within the skull suggesting a blow to the death. Pharaohs were regarded as living Gods, even more than the political and religious leader, and to kill the Pharaoh was inconceivable. Throughout history, there are very few instances that record a Pharaoh being assassinated, and in Tut s case too the murder theory was discarded when conclusive evidence emerged that showed that the damage had been done after the mummification. For the purpose of convincing the majority of the world s population that the protests won t change a thing in today s political world. But there s a second side where people just stand, hold posters, and not attack the police. This commercial received a great deal of backlashes because people thought it was trivializing the Baton Rouge and Black Lives Matter protests to sell beverages. But nothing in the advertisement itself said, Let s degrade this specific movement of protest to sell carbonated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 43. Reflection Paper About Museum Museum Visit and Reflection I had the opportunity to visit the de Young Museum located at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. The de Young is home to collections of American art from the 17th century to present, African art, oceanic art, art of the Americas, photography and rotating exhibitions. I had wanted to visit the de Young for some time and finally made my first trip there with my wife. We decided to time our arrival to the opening of the museum and spent four hours exploring everything from the artwork on the grounds to the Summer of Love Exhibition. It was a great day and I definitely felt my mind stretch to comprehend all of the artwork and make the connection to what I have been learning. In this paper, I will share a description of the different styles of art I viewed, the experience of viewing art in person and how art is relevant today. Artists and Artistic Style While I enjoyed many of the works of art at the museum I will focus on a few pieces that really caught my attention. The first would be a contemporary sculpture, Anti Mass created by artist Cornelia Parker. Constructed from wood, nails and wire, Anti Mass was made from the remains of a Southern Baptist church which was burned by arsonists. Hanging in the air the church represented by charred wood appears to be exploding outward. For me this was such a powerful statement and made me think of the violent persecution of African Americans in the south. Because it was constructed from the remains of a ... Lincoln recognized that he would need assistance from the French navy and army to retake Savannah. On September 3, he learned that the French forces under the command of Admiral Comte d Estaing were en route to Savannah, bringing with them ships of the line and 4,000 soldiers. On September 11, Lincoln marched out of Charleston with 2,000 Continentals to link up with d Estaing. Arriving first, d Estaing began offensive operations to take the city. He initially offered Prevost an opportunity to surrender, but Prevost demurred, hoping that reinforcements would arrive. He was given twenty four hours. This reprieve would prove in the end to be pivotal, as 1,000 men arrived to support Prevost s force just as Lincoln arrived to support d Estaing. The Allied forces, when fully assembled, numbered near 7,000. Defending Savannah was a force totaling 2,500 men. Faced with overwhelming odds, Prevost organized a solid defensive plan. ... The French commander believed that a frontal assault against the British position would be futile and instead proposed to bombard the city. Lincoln concurred, French cannons were removed from their ships, and a five day cannonade began. However, Savannah bore the brunt of the artillery assault while the defensive positions remained relatively untouched, so d Estaing eventually agreed to the frontal assault in spite of objections by his officers. He worried that a protracted siege would take too long and wanted to redeem his glory that had been tarnished at Newport, Rhode Island.
