Yale University Investment Office 2006
Summary:
The Case is about the decision of the Yale Investments Office whether to continue to allocate the bulk
of the university s endowment to illiquid investments hedge funds, private equity, real estate, and so
forth. Important is to consider the risks and benefits of a different asset allocation strategy. Before the
choice between different subclasses, e.g., between venture capital and leveraged buyout funds would
be analyzed it is advantageous to get first background information. Effective management of a
university endowment requires balancing fundamentally competing objectives. On the one hand, the
University requires immediate proceeds to support the current generation of scholars. On the other
hand, investment managers must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Social Class Is An Ongoing Problem
Social class is an ongoing problem in education, especially for those living on the lower end of the
divide. More than one in five of Scotland s children are living in poverty. In this essay I will consider
why social class is an ongoing problem, its influence on wellbeing and achievement, and propose
ways in which we can attempt to combat these issues. This will be accomplished with reference to
concepts, theories and the scenarios detailed in appendix A, B and C.
According to Bourdieu s highly influential theory of cultural reproduction, children from middle class
families are more advantaged in gaining qualifications due to their possession of cultural capital
(Lamont Lareau, 2011). Cultural capital can be defined as a deeply ingrained knowledge of society s
high culture and taste, behaviours, linguistic cues and the education system. Cultural reproduction
refers to the transmission of these aforementioned cultural values and norms between the generations.
This can only be produced by family upbringing in the home (Bourdieu Passeron, 1990). This
transition enormously influences children s success in school and later in life (Sullivan, 2001).
However the distribution of cultural capital is severely inefficient (Bourdieu and Passeron, 1977).
Sullivan (2001) applied Bourdieu s theory and found that the working class lack the same cultural
capital as the middle class. His research suggests that although working class children can build this
knowledge, they will never

The Teen Drug Abuse
The teen drug abuse is extremely bad now a days because that s all what mostly all teens wan and they
can never stop because they use it to their advantage and they convince their friends and other people
to do it with them. The feelings that are associated with using drugs are relief, silliness, euphoria, and
happiness. After all those good feelings they have side effects after that and those are headaches,
drowsiness, nausea, dehydration, exhaustion, and fever. They can even have side effects like vomiting
and a little bit of loss memory. But when you abuse drugs and by that means that when you use drugs
to many times and too much it can lead to death. The ways you can die from drugs are overdoses,
traffic accidents and that s if and when you use it when driving, crime related activity or other causes.
These side effects and death and long term consequences.
The first topic I m going to talk about is marijuana and that drug is actually bad for your brain cells
and this drug is a derived flower of the cannabis plant and the ways it is consumed is the dried
cannabis plant, the hashish is made from the resin of the cannabis, and hash oil and it is a think oil
extracted from hashish. You can have memory loss and etc. When you use marijuana and you are also
in a sport like soccer, football, etc. and you are doing drugs your physical dependence will be quite
low. Also when you are playing sports and you want a scholarship from it, marijuana will mess you up

A Brief Note On Science And The Nineteenth Century
Faith v.s Science
Sunya Hassan
History 10
Faith vs. Science in the Nineteenth Century
Throughout history, the comparison of faith and science have caused debate between our historians.
However, they can agree that the nineteenth century was somewhat of a blurred line in American
history to determine where the population s allegiance laid. While the Second Great Awakening riled
up a lot of devout Baptists and Methodists, science had also taken a toll with the Industrial Revolution.
Which is still one of the most significant economic changes in American history to date. And although
Darwin s finds did not occur in the US, the effects of his theory of evolution made men and women in
the states question their beliefs and faith in religion. Technological developments also created issues
for the church as they were losing grip of power on their believers. Even though religion played a
large role in the early nineteenth century, given the facts, science and innovation captured the interest
of America s people and undermined their faith. Although faith was not the leading candidate for
winning over the allegiance, faith in religion runs deep down to the foundations of America. The early
settlers, such as the pilgrims, ran from Europe to practice their own faith without the accusation of
heresy. Puritanism was a religious reform movement that sought to purify the Church of England.
Their philosophy of a city upon a hill caused the United States to strive for

Essay On Mortal Life
It was only suppose to be out of curiosity. Nothing more, nothing less... so how did it end up like this?
Aomine was used to getting hit on by strangers of the human world. His flawless skin, deep ocean
blue eyes, and his elegant moves attracted plenty of attention. He was use to shrugging off the
attention. He got plenty of it in Mount Olympus by gods that meant more than these merely humans.
However, he found himself attracted to a human with hair red as fire and passionate burning rubies for
eyes. It was almost weird, the mortal man almost reminded him of his father Akashi. The stranger was
dressed in denim pants and a white T shirt with a leather jacket loosely hugging his body. A cigarette

The man reached up and placed the cigarette between his index and middle finger. Taking a deep
inhale of the cancer stick, he then removed it from his lips and used the metal surface of the locker to
put out the fire while breathing out the smoke. Aomine could swear that the mortal almost looked like
a man eating dragon, which only made the sex god lust after him more.
What s your schedule?
The mortal s voice was deep and husky, soothing Aomine needs temporarily. However, Aomine wasn t
one to embarrass himself. Instead of just handing the human the piece of paper given to him by the
school, the bluehead stepped closer than comfort towards the man. His shoulder making contact with
the broad chest of the redhead. The heat bearing off of his skin was extremely comforting and Aomine
s mind wandered off thinking about how it would with skin on skin contact. Aomine would ve let out

their classes.
Attention was instantly on them as students began to migrate to their lockers. The redhead cleared his
throat, getting Aomine s attention back on him. You have the same classes as me, just follow me.

Corporate Strategy and Practices of International Human...
Corporate Strategies
Corporate Strategy
Strategy relates to the scope and domain of a corporation s activities and the main issues to use while
evaluating its success. Activity pattern in the strategy is on resource acquisition, commitment and
allocation in accordance to an organization s need, environment, management network and intended
goals(Chew Sharma, 2006).
Corporate Strategy and Culture
An organization s culture creates an important link between the organization s strategy, human
resource management and the human resource. According to Chew Sharma, 2006, organization culture
refers to how things in an organization are undertaken in the normal course work. It is therefore;
correct to say that an organization s culture refers to that aspect about an organization that makes it
uniquely different from other organizations.
Given that organization culture is linked to its strategy, it is clear to say that corporate strategy
formulation will influence working style in the organization(Becker Gehart, 2000). Nestle a
Corporation recently targets to sell it products on an international scope even to the third world
countries. It is working towards changing the mindset of the employees to incorporate an international
outlook.
In their marketing strategy, the corporation emphasizes Good and Healthy Foods where, specific
attributes of others countries are considered. In managing their employees, they are enriching them
with the need to consider other countries in

Mobile Phones The Death Of Cell Phones
Brandon Marxen English 1A 10 29 17 Cell Phones: The Death of Social Interaction Phones are
quickly becoming the downfall of America s youth in today s society. You can t go out into public
today without seeing children, some no more than a few years old, walking around with smartphones
worth hundreds of dollars. It s a fascinating but unfortunate trend to witness and it s only becoming
worse as time progresses. Kids no longer have to leave the comfort of their home to hang out and
socialize with friends. They can now do everything from their mobile phone including talk, text,
browse the internet, and indulge themselves on various forms of media. The reasons to go out and
socialize are slowly diminishing as companies are finding new ways to keep people glued to their
phone screens. People no longer have the urge to go out and experience new situations or learn new
information. All the information they could possibly want to know sits in the palm of their hand,
eliminating the need for any type of patience. With society now favoring easier ways of
communication, face to face interaction will inevitably become less and less common. It s a common
occurrence nowadays to see a group a friends sitting around on their phones not talking to each other,
especially in younger crowds. Most social media apps like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram would
have you believe that their service makes it easier to communicate with others. However, just the
opposite is true.

Bless Me, Ultima By Rudolfo Anaya
When we think of childhood we think of blissful, exhilarating moments, like being pushed on a swing
higher and higher feeling as if you could stretch your hand and grasp the clouds, as you experience the
cooling air of a hot summer day on your blushed face, as you yelped to be pushed further into the
clouds. We do not think of the anguish and questions that the sight of death brings. But that s exactly
what happens to six year old Antonio Marez in the novel Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya. When
young Antonio witnesses the death of a local War Veteran, a family friend, and a classmate, it leaves
him with transforming effects, prompting him to question death, sin, morality, and in the end leading
him to be ambivalent towards his Catholic beliefs. Through every mortifying act that he witnesses, he
has the guidance of Ultima, an elderly curandera, healer, who uses her wisdom to lead Antonio to
answer his own questions.
Antonio s questions about good vs evil begin when he first foreshadows that his innocence and peace
would be shattered and everything in his life would change forever. He foresees a new period of
difficulty and conflict that parallels his transition away from childish innocence and towards becoming
a man of learning. But the innocence which our isolation sheltered could not last forever, and the
affairs of the town began to reach across our bridge and enter my life. (15). The beginning of his
transition comes when Jason s father, Chavez comes to the

. These creatures are not dangerous to humans, they are just animals who hunt other animals. This has
become established knowledge, since it has been a never ending goal to bring the wolves back and
help them flourish as they did in the early nineteenth century (Coleman, 2004). I do think that instead
of exterminating the wolf in Durham, we should find it, if it exists, and add a tracking device. It would
be a huge stepping stone in the study of this animal. This could enhance our knowledge on the species
and may even help us form an idea on how to successfully repopulate the states with the species.
Instead of the dark and biased article against the big bad wolf, this piece should take its place. The
negative feelings addressed in the article need to be replaced with positive feelings because this would
be a huge accomplishment for us if it was in fact a wolf that was sited. It would mean all of our past
acts, research, and hard work is finally starting to pay off. Wolves would finally start coming back to
the areas where they never should have disappeared

Work-Family Balance
Work Family Balance
Contemporary gender role attitudes have changed partly as a response to the steady increase in women
s participation in the labor force. Although this increase was especially evident in the 1970s and
1980s, as was the move toward more egalitarian attitudes, it continued in the 1990s through the
present. College educated men and women are less likely to hold traditional ideas about gender, work
and family roles. Within the family, attitudes toward gender roles have become more liberal, moving
in the direction of sharing of housework and childcare. (Cohen, Devault Strong, 2011). An ideal for
modern family is to share wage earning and family responsibilities in equal basis (Lamanna, Riedman
and Strahm, 2012).
Giraffe (2011) stated that individuals manage the competing demands of work and personal lives, the
need for lifelong learning, and the responsibilities of parenting are real issues for today s workforce.
Social institutions such as marriage and childrearing have changed, leading to more single mothers,
evolving roles for women in the workplace, and more men in new roles at home. Longer life
expectancy and later childbearing age have created the sandwich generation of middle aged adult
workers, who simultaneously provide care for their children and their senior family members.
A great deal of research and other writings on the subject suggest that today s typical dual earner
family or a family with a working single parent is a hectic one; this is

Emergency Department Bottleneck Proposal Essay example
Emergency Department Bottleneck Proposal Middletown Hospital is a 200 bed, not for profit general
hospital that has an emergency department with 20 emergency beds. The emergency department
handles on an average 100 patients per day. The hospital s CEO has authorized the Six Sigma Team
(SST) to address complaints received from patients seeking treatment between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00

indicates that approximately 70% of the department s admissions occur (University of Phoenix, 2009,

Data collection can be subdivided into three categories with service type, department, and floor. This
collection of data is valuable tool that managers need to have in order to understand the flow of
business within each department. With the collection of data it will allow managers to calculate the
volumes of patients during specific times. The SST will require data collected from all computers used
to monitor access to the admission system. Additional data will have specific times at which the
patient reported to various stations of treatment, and when the patient was discharged. A multivariate
trend forecasting method will be more appropriate in this setting; the use of multiple variables about
the item being forecasted allows seasons and cycles to be combined with other variables and improve
forecast accuracy (Langabeer, 2008). This will give operation managers better forecasting abilities as
they will be able to see trends. Finally, the SST will need to analyze the amount of resources or assets
available to serve demand (Langabeer, 2008). Quantitative data needed to measure capacity will
include: the number of available beds and treatment rooms, the number of key providers and other
staff available at each point of care between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., and availability of key medical
technologies and equipment. Examples of key medical equipment are diagnostic imaging, X ray and
laboratory equipment.

Parenting Is A Legacy For Children
Parenting: A Legacy For Children
Parenting is a process of supporting children through the ups and downs of life. From infancy to
adulthood, parents play an important role in the development of their children. They are expected to
ensure the child s health and safety, prepare them to function as citizens of society, and teach them
about what is important in life. Many parents learn how to parent by looking at the way they were
raised. However, with the stresses and strains that families face today, it is also a good idea to be open
to adding parenting tools to their toolbox. These tools are taught at places such as a parent education
group for ex offenders. Most of them have children of various ages. A social worker leads the group to
enhance their knowledge and skill sets and share topics such as being present in the child s life,
praising a child, effective discipline, and unconditional love. Parents need to be present in their child s
life, more connected, despite all the struggles and chaos of living. Both child and parent need to get
sufficient sleep, which enables them to function better. When people are sleep deprived, they do not
perform as well and are likely to be irritable. Waiting until the weekend or a day off from regular
activities to catch up on sleep does not work. Also, cell phones need a break. Constantly being
attached to cell phones hinders people s abilities to interact. Parents who model this behavior may
make their child feel that phone conversations are more important than interactions with them. There
was a woman who said hello to a teenager while in the community. In response, the young man was
not sure of what to say. He was so used to talking and texting to people on his cell phone that he found
it difficult to talk to someone in person. In addition, join in on your child s fun. If a child is doing arts
and crafts, playing a sport, or watching a TV show, participate in the activities. Even when a parent is
not physically able to do a sport, they can ask their child about it. They can also go to sporting events
and talk about the activity. The main point is to stay connected to your child and their interests. In
response to the social worker s presentation, various

Comparison Of Blockbuster And Independent Films
In this essay, I will elaborate on the coexistence of blockbuster and independent films in America with
emphasis on independent film making concentrating on the similarities and differences portrayed.
Co existence
The explosion of independent films in America started in the mid 80s due to the lack of creative niche
films after the reorganization of the Hollywood studio systems. During this era, the big Hollywood
studio system ran like a Ford Production plant systemized and standardized, pumping out action
themed big budget blockbuster films one after another targeted for Americas widest audience of young
kids and teenagers. By doing so, they left an untapped market or void that was eventually filled by the
independent filmmakers comprised of a group of upcoming women and African Americans who
produced movies on very low budgets that spoke about social issues and injustices for the common
people.
Independent Film ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The films produced by the indie auteurs are classified as niche films. These types of films were
usually produced by filmmakers who did not fit the current Hollywood culture during the time as
women and people of color were minimally employed to say the least. Niche films are focused on
specific demographics and therefore are significantly less profitable due to the smaller yet loyal fan
base. Unlike the 70 s, when auteur pictures backed by studio money and muscle were top grossing
films, in the 80s and 90s the audience for even the most compelling independent auteur pictures was
significantly smaller. (Lewis) For instance, due to the lack of funding and smaller target audiences the
well known indie films of the eighties and early nineties made only 1/100th of the average blockbuster

The First Movement of Beethoven s Sonata Op.31 No.1...
This sonata was composed around 1802, a point at which Beethoven experienced the crisis of
encroaching deafness. From then on, the composer started to introduce innovative and bold ideas
within classical framework in his musical composition to expand the expressiveness of his music. His
novel approach was evident in his formal and harmonic arrangement in the first movement of Sonata
Op.31 No.1. Distinctive harmonic departure from the classical sonata form convention fills the
movement with drama. In classical sonata form convention, tonality is to be established in the first
theme with no ambiguity so as to make contrast with the second theme, which is normally set in the
dominant. In the first movement of Beethoven s sonata Op.31 ... Show more content on

He preserved the harmonic integrity by finally returning to the home key G major (Fig. G) in the
closing section of the second theme (mm.265 275).
Fig. F
Fig. G The return to the home key can be seen as a relief from the dissonance produced by the
passages of second themes in E major and b minor. Yet, the tonality on G major is not distinctive
enough to induce a home returning emotion in the listeners. Therefore, the composer restated the
opening of the first theme in G major and continues with arpeggiando passages (Fig. H) (mm.288 295)
establishing the dominant of the home key. The coda (mm.295 324) consists only simple harmonies
(Fig. I) of the tonic and dominant seventh, reassuring the listeners the sense of finally returning home.
Fig .H Fig .I Employing remote keys and tonicisation seem not sufficient for the composer to display
his ability to expand the expressiveness of his music. Thus, Beethoven employed the technique modal
mixture through out the second theme in both exposition and recapitulation. For instance, the second
theme in the exposition starts with B major harmony (mm.65 69) (Fig. C). With a descending scale,
the second theme swiftly changes to b minor (mm.72 79) (Fig. J). It creates abrupt change in the mood
from a sweet dance like major passage to a stormy minor one. From measure 72, b minor persists
throughout the second theme except

Causes And Consequences Of The War Of 1812
The war of 1812 was also known as the second War of Independence , for some it may even be known
as the Forgotten War . It was an important conflict with long lasting consequences, especially for the
Native Americans in North America. The main cause of the war was America s desire to expand its
territory (history.com war of 1812 ). Just like everything else in America s history people were greedy
and always wanted more. More land equals more workers which equals more money. Native
Americans did not own land, land was known Mother Earth, everyone shared all she had to offer,
nothing was taken for granted, nothing was wasted, everything had its own importance. When new
settlers came to the Americas they were looking for new land, new territory for their settlements.
Some did not know that the land already had settlers; Natives. Think of when you have visitors at your
home, are you welcoming? Most of the time you are. That is exactly how the natives were with these
new settlers. Though they did not speak the same language the natives offered a helping hand, just to
get spit on in return. Not literally, but figuratively, the new settlers seen natives as people that could be
changed. So that s what they did, they tried to assimilate the Indians teaching them the white man s
ways. Many Indians did not know what was happening at the time and others caught on causing many
uproars. The War of 1812 is just another one of those uproars. The war was not fought between

Criticism Of John Donne
MLove s sweet nipples and voluptuous bust! Aphrodisia fruit to quell my lust! Had I the temerity and
the conceit to compose a sonnet in the style of John Donne using circles and spheres as tropes such are
metaphors I might use to construct my strong lines . And with Donne like boldness I might even
entitle my work: Areolas of Love . On the other hand, if I attempted the same task along Petrarchan
lines, I d meter out a couple of stanzas dedicated to a radiant but distance Laura with sapphire eyes, a
head of gold diaphanous hair, encircled by halos of blue butterflies and, for good measure, I might
throw in a merry go round of unicorns.
Such stereotypes are often found in discussions of the poetry of John Donne and his philosophy of sex
and love especially when contrasted to Petrarchan sonneteers. But, as with most stereotypes, the
underlying assumptions may be too facile. In fundamental ways, John Donne can be seen not as a
rebuke of the Petrarchan tradition but rather as an extenuation of this form of literature when it took a
literary turn sharp north and wound up in the drawing rooms of England ( The Good Morrow , 20).
Indeed, even biographically, Donne and Petrarch had much in common. Both were well educated, well
rounded and well travelled born to families with aristocratic ties; each a universal man (uomo
universale) baptized in the universal church. Additionally, both men read the law (i.e. learned to argue
at an early age); and both served in

Dithos And Pathos In Advertising
In society today, consumers decisions for buying products is heavily influenced by the marketing
strategies created by advertiser. The first ad presented is advertising certified pre owned BMWs, while
the second ad is marketing Lincoln MKZs. The BMW ad is targeted towards middle class people
looking for a luxury vehicle at a decent price. The Lincoln, however, is directed towards wealthy
upper class people looking for a luxury vehicle. Although the advertisements are appealing to two
different audiences, they both utilize ethos and pathos in an attempt to reach potential consumers. To
understand how advertisers attempt to influence audiences to promote a certain idea or purchase a
specific item, an explanation of the rhetorical devices used would be helpful. For that reason, the
emotional appeal, pathos, focuses on invoking an audiences emotions using elements such as humor,
sympathy, hatred, or fear (Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz 28). In addition, ethos, the character appeal,
intends to persuade an audience by establishing authority and credibility (Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz
40). While there are more rhetorical devices, ethos and pathos are the two that are prevalent in both
advertisement videos. Both seem to attempt to gain trust and invoke the audience to partake in a
specific action. To go in depth and understand the ad, one needs to know what it is exactly. The ad
consists of a man meticulously cleaning his BMW. To set the scene, soft and light piano music plays

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Citizenship...
It is said that a Malaysian born citizen s citizenship cannot be revoked by the state government.
According to Lawyer and constitutional law activist Syahredzan Johan, there are two categories of
citizens in Malaysia. The first, are those who were born in Malaysia after the year 1963 and the latter
being known as naturalized citizens. The first categories of people are those who were born in
Malaysia, like the most of us and there is no formal procedure required to apply for a Malaysian
citizenship. In the case of one of the child s parents are not citizens of Malaysia, but is born in
Malaysia, the offspring is still considered to be a Malaysian citizen. But on the other hand, if the child
has one Malaysian parent, but is born in a foreign country, he or she is not a citizen of Malaysia but
may later become a permanent resident of Malaysia and later apply for citizenship. People often get

that he or she does not deserve to be a Malaysian. He has further added that the issue of citizenship is

Abstract
This paper examines the effects that cannabis abuse has on human health over an extended period.
Over the years, some researchers have concluded that continuous use of the drug during adolescence,
but not adulthood, could permanently impair cognition and increase the risk for psychiatric diseases.
Other studies suggest that heavy use amongst users can cause changes in subjective mental status,
brain functioning, and neuropsychological performance. Approximately 9% of those who experiment
with cannabis will become addicted, and the treatment for addiction can be challenging, as it often
leads to withdrawal symptoms. Consequently, most governments around the globe decided to enact
legislation in the early to mid 20th century, to help control its abuse; however, recently, some countries
in the Western World have begun to allow its use for medicinal and recreational purposes. All

Differences Between Bosnia And South Africa
The apartheid government in South Africa collapsed in 1994, but the new government in South Africa
had to work through the question of dealing with the past in order to move forward. The critical
question was: Should crimes against the victims of apartheid be punished? A country like Bosnia
chose to prosecute the offenders through the establishment of formidable International Criminals
tribunals, while South Africa on the other hand chose the approach of restorative justice and
alternative dispute resolution through the establishment of the Truth and Reconciliation Committee
(TRC). The purpose of this essay is to evaluate the different routes that South Africa and Bosnia have
taken in their approaches to dealing with human rights violations and creating a better society. In that I
am going to compare and contrast Bosnia and South Africa. The three aspects I am going to discuss

The Truth and Reconciliation committee was established after the end of Apartheid. It functioned like
a court which heard grievances from anyone who felt they were victims of gross human rights
violations Similar to the ICTY the TRC had a head of the commission. Desmond Tutu chaired the
commission and navigated the proceedings. This commission required people to face demons of the
past and seek reconciliation at both National and personal level. This latter point is well authenticated
in the article, No future without justice where Desmond Tutu noted that, I wish to make these poor
people whole again. I wish I could wipe the old South Africa out of everyone s past. This to me is one
of the reasons why South Africa still face deep structural societal inequality and the general
unhappiness of the people by whites who still perpetuate themselves in position of power and wealth

Video Games Call Of Duty
One of the biggest controversial cases among parents and children is, whether to allow them to play
violent video games. Many people often assume that these intense games have a direct correlation to
becoming a violent person. While many people agree with this, the research is not 100% accurate.
This makes it very hard to find proof that a violent video game is one of the leading causes of a violent
person. We are often blaming these games for a more internal complex problem.
One of the leading video games Call Of Duty focuses on killing people in order to win the game. This
game has over 40 million users and is the most successful franchise in all of history. In my opinion
what is the fun of theoretically killing virtual people? I do not think kids should be subjective to
watching this violence at a young age. These games should be geared for adults more than children.
When the child is held at the age of accountability they can then decide what games are good for
them.
When a shooting happens many people are looking for reasons as to why it happened, many times
they automatically assumed that person played violent video games. Conservatives start to raise their
opinion when things in American go awry. Republican Donald Trump tweeted on Twitter: Video game
violence glorification must be stopped it s creating monsters! In hopes to end the video games that
correlate to violence the government plans to take action. The state Rep. of Missouri, Diane Franklin,

Dominance, Privilege, And Oppression
This week we talked about a lot about dominance, privilege, and oppression. In lecture, we started by
talking about the differences between dominate individuals and subordinate individuals. These
differences are extremely prevalent when it comes to men and women. Men have access to power,
economic control, and this larger idea of privilege, whereas women are always at a disadvantage. They
have a lack of power and influence. This also applies to difference races. When we did the activity
about the different stereotypes of different races and genders, it was surprising how easy it was for us
to list of all of these terrible stereotypes. This is a huge issue in our society. I really liked the activity

American Revolution And Religion
The Revolutionary period had much more substance to it than meets the eye. Although it is often
looked at as just Americans creating the United States of America, that is not the only perspective that
should be taken away from the American Revolution. It should be recognized more as Englishmen, as
Anglo Protestants, getting away from England. There are numerous diverse perspectives and events
that shaped the American Revolution. Some of the most imperative instances are Religion, Anglo
Americans, the Intolerable Acts and taxes, and the role of the Tories.
One of the most overlooked perspective of the popular view has to do with religion. The eighteenth
century colonists had a plethora of options to choose from when it came to religion. Many ... Show

These people were called Tories. Tories, also known as loyalists, were colonists that stayed faithful to
Britain during the Revolutionary War. They consisted of royal officials, wealthy merchants,
conservative urban lawyers, people who disliked pro revolution citizens, southern slaves who looked
to Britain in hope of freedom, and a multitude of Indian tribes. Contrary to popular view, one could
argue that the American Revolution was not only a fight between the Patriots and the British, but it
was really a civil war between the Rebels and the Tories. The fight between the Rebels and the Tories
can be described as brutal because of the guerilla warfare, brigade war, tarring and feathering, and
killings that were exhibited between the two sides. According to Tories: Fighting For the King in
America s First Civil War, General Nathanael Greene stated, The division among the people is much
greater than I imagined and the Whigs and Tories persecute each other, with little less than savage
fury. There is nothing but murders and devastation in every quarter. (Thomas Allen p. 1). The Tories
main concern was stability, which the British could provide to them unlike the rebels. Many times, this
would divide families because they would disagree on whether they wanted to be a Tory or a Rebel.
Additionally, if they decided to ultimately be a Tory, they would join the British army to fight against
the Patriots or flee to Canada or back to England. Although their role in the American Revolution was
to support the British, even with the Tories help, the British were still

Campaign Finance Debate
General Information The debate about campaign finance reform is not a new problem but has a long
history of change. The first major debate over campaign finance arose from Andrew Jackson s spoils
system. During Andrew Jackson s 1828 term, he would give out positions in his office to those who
supported him during the election. The practice would inadvertently lead to the assassination of
President James Garfield and create the first law that placed a restraint on relationships between
donors and candidates known as the Pendleton Act of 1883. The law required that civil service
positions be filled based off of merit rather than party affiliation. The regulation on campaigns would
continue in 1896 when the government took ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The debate would make it all the way to the Supreme Court, who would uphold the law saying the law
maintained campaign integrity and prevented corruption. The Supreme Court did, however, remove
spending limits as long as the money was spent to expressly endorse a candidate. In 1979, FECA is
further amended to allow individuals, unions, and corporations to give unlimited funds for party
building. The amendment created what was called soft money donations and was a large loophole in
the system. In 2002, the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act banned soft money, unlimited contributions,
and prohibited political ads made by unions and corporations from airing within 30 days of a primary
and 60 days of a general election. The law would be taken to the Supreme Court twice in 2003 and
2007. Despite both times resulting in a 5 4 vote in favor of the law, the 2007 case would remove the
political ad ban. Finally, the 2010 Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission Supreme Court
case would not only dismantle the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act but allow for the formation of
Super PACs which they stated did not promote corruption (Rowen, n.d.). SuperPACs have launched
campaign finance reform back into the spotlight and are crucial to any discussion on the subject today.
The first political action committee called the Congress of Industrial Organizations would be created
in response to the Smith Connelly Act

So allow me to give you some more examples of the benefits to the company increasing their

stress is a consequence of the environment in which dancers practice ballet everyday, which is a world
of no pain, no gain that is characterized by perfectionism and competition (Yatabe et al. 2). In this
case, pain and stress can be further ignored and create a negative impact on dancers due to
perfectionism if instructors do not cut down with their excessive trainings. Ballet dancers who demand
their selves to perfect a skill or technique can be due to their desire of having the ideal body image.

Analysis Of Richard Branson And Max Levchin
People rely on a leader that will guide them through their hard times and conflicts. According to
BusinessDictionary.com, a leader steps up in times of crisis, and is able to think and act creatively in
difficult situations. Some of the best world business leaders, such as Richard Branson and Max
Levchin, share their secrets on how they made their companies manageable. By using these leadership
secrets, they will be compared with some of the previous CEOs of Tyco International and their
management styles. Demonstrating precise leadership is known to motivate employees and increase

rather than influential leaders. Richard Branson demonstrates outstanding leadership qualities, which
has reflected on his success in developing an investment business known as the Virgin Group. This
company is an investment group that is greatly known throughout the globe. According to Branson, a
good leader never rushes in and jumps to rash conclusions before knowing all the facts they delay

Bible Justice
Justice is something, that I believe, each and every person in this world deeply desires. But, justice
does not mean the same thing for every individual. Justice, in fact, can have many different meanings.
To the majority, justice means fairness or equality. However, in the Bible, the word justice is
sometimes translated judgment and righteousness (Hollinger, 2009). At times, God s justice is linked
to God s holiness (Hollinger, 2009) and on other occasions, God s justice is what meets the demands
of God s holiness and retributive justice or judgment, thereby procuring human salvation through
Christ s death on the cross (Hollinger, 2009). In the beautiful passage of Scripture, Micah 6:6 8, Israel
asks the Lord what He desires of them. Israel had been a very disobedient group of people and were
unsure how to come before the Lord, because their sin had distanced them from Him. They were
asking the Lord if they should bring sacrifices, such as a burnt offering, with calves a year old (Micah
6:6, New International Version) or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When instead, the Lord desires me to accomplish the three commands stated in Micah 6:8. God

(Hollinger, 2009). Biblical justice is also associated with fairness and integrity (Hollinger, 2009).
Justice is also a special concern for the oppressed, the poor, and those who lack the means of self
sufficiency (Hollinger, 2009). To put it another way, biblical justice is to bec[o]me concerned about

  • 2. Yale University Investment Office 2006 Summary: The Case is about the decision of the Yale Investments Office whether to continue to allocate the bulk of the university s endowment to illiquid investments hedge funds, private equity, real estate, and so forth. Important is to consider the risks and benefits of a different asset allocation strategy. Before the choice between different subclasses, e.g., between venture capital and leveraged buyout funds would be analyzed it is advantageous to get first background information. Effective management of a university endowment requires balancing fundamentally competing objectives. On the one hand, the University requires immediate proceeds to support the current generation of scholars. On the other hand, investment managers must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Social Class Is An Ongoing Problem Social class is an ongoing problem in education, especially for those living on the lower end of the divide. More than one in five of Scotland s children are living in poverty. In this essay I will consider why social class is an ongoing problem, its influence on wellbeing and achievement, and propose ways in which we can attempt to combat these issues. This will be accomplished with reference to concepts, theories and the scenarios detailed in appendix A, B and C. According to Bourdieu s highly influential theory of cultural reproduction, children from middle class families are more advantaged in gaining qualifications due to their possession of cultural capital (Lamont Lareau, 2011). Cultural capital can be defined as a deeply ingrained knowledge of society s high culture and taste, behaviours, linguistic cues and the education system. Cultural reproduction refers to the transmission of these aforementioned cultural values and norms between the generations. This can only be produced by family upbringing in the home (Bourdieu Passeron, 1990). This transition enormously influences children s success in school and later in life (Sullivan, 2001). However the distribution of cultural capital is severely inefficient (Bourdieu and Passeron, 1977). Sullivan (2001) applied Bourdieu s theory and found that the working class lack the same cultural capital as the middle class. His research suggests that although working class children can build this knowledge, they will never ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Teen Drug Abuse The teen drug abuse is extremely bad now a days because that s all what mostly all teens wan and they can never stop because they use it to their advantage and they convince their friends and other people to do it with them. The feelings that are associated with using drugs are relief, silliness, euphoria, and happiness. After all those good feelings they have side effects after that and those are headaches, drowsiness, nausea, dehydration, exhaustion, and fever. They can even have side effects like vomiting and a little bit of loss memory. But when you abuse drugs and by that means that when you use drugs to many times and too much it can lead to death. The ways you can die from drugs are overdoses, traffic accidents and that s if and when you use it when driving, crime related activity or other causes. These side effects and death and long term consequences. The first topic I m going to talk about is marijuana and that drug is actually bad for your brain cells and this drug is a derived flower of the cannabis plant and the ways it is consumed is the dried cannabis plant, the hashish is made from the resin of the cannabis, and hash oil and it is a think oil extracted from hashish. You can have memory loss and etc. When you use marijuana and you are also in a sport like soccer, football, etc. and you are doing drugs your physical dependence will be quite low. Also when you are playing sports and you want a scholarship from it, marijuana will mess you up and that will ruin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. A Brief Note On Science And The Nineteenth Century Faith v.s Science Sunya Hassan History 10 Faith vs. Science in the Nineteenth Century Throughout history, the comparison of faith and science have caused debate between our historians. However, they can agree that the nineteenth century was somewhat of a blurred line in American history to determine where the population s allegiance laid. While the Second Great Awakening riled up a lot of devout Baptists and Methodists, science had also taken a toll with the Industrial Revolution. Which is still one of the most significant economic changes in American history to date. And although Darwin s finds did not occur in the US, the effects of his theory of evolution made men and women in the states question their beliefs and faith in religion. Technological developments also created issues for the church as they were losing grip of power on their believers. Even though religion played a large role in the early nineteenth century, given the facts, science and innovation captured the interest of America s people and undermined their faith. Although faith was not the leading candidate for winning over the allegiance, faith in religion runs deep down to the foundations of America. The early settlers, such as the pilgrims, ran from Europe to practice their own faith without the accusation of heresy. Puritanism was a religious reform movement that sought to purify the Church of England. Their philosophy of a city upon a hill caused the United States to strive for ... • 6. Essay On Mortal Life It was only suppose to be out of curiosity. Nothing more, nothing less... so how did it end up like this? Aomine was used to getting hit on by strangers of the human world. His flawless skin, deep ocean blue eyes, and his elegant moves attracted plenty of attention. He was use to shrugging off the attention. He got plenty of it in Mount Olympus by gods that meant more than these merely humans. However, he found himself attracted to a human with hair red as fire and passionate burning rubies for eyes. It was almost weird, the mortal man almost reminded him of his father Akashi. Aomine could swear that the mortal almost looked like a man eating dragon, which only made the sex god lust after him more. What s your schedule? The mortal s voice was deep and husky, soothing Aomine needs temporarily. However, Aomine wasn t one to embarrass himself. Instead of just handing the human the piece of paper given to him by the school, the bluehead stepped closer than comfort towards the man. Aomine would ve let out a satisfying purr if he wasn t interrupted by a harsh ringing and the sound of students getting out of their classes. Attention was instantly on them as students began to migrate to their lockers. The redhead cleared his throat, getting Aomine s attention back on him. You have the same classes as me, just follow me. • 7. Corporate Strategy and Practices of International Human... Corporate Strategies Corporate Strategy Strategy relates to the scope and domain of a corporation s activities and the main issues to use while evaluating its success. Activity pattern in the strategy is on resource acquisition, commitment and allocation in accordance to an organization s need, environment, management network and intended goals(Chew Sharma, 2006). Corporate Strategy and Culture An organization s culture creates an important link between the organization s strategy, human resource management and the human resource. According to Chew Sharma, 2006, organization culture refers to how things in an organization are undertaken in the normal course work. It is therefore; correct to say that an organization s culture refers to that aspect about an organization that makes it uniquely different from other organizations. Given that organization culture is linked to its strategy, it is clear to say that corporate strategy formulation will influence working style in the organization(Becker Gehart, 2000). Nestle a Corporation recently targets to sell it products on an international scope even to the third world countries. It is working towards changing the mindset of the employees to incorporate an international outlook. • 8. Mobile Phones The Death Of Cell Phones Brandon Marxen English 1A 10 29 17 Cell Phones: The Death of Social Interaction Phones are quickly becoming the downfall of America s youth in today s society. You can t go out into public today without seeing children, some no more than a few years old, walking around with smartphones worth hundreds of dollars. It s a fascinating but unfortunate trend to witness and it s only becoming worse as time progresses. Kids no longer have to leave the comfort of their home to hang out and socialize with friends. They can now do everything from their mobile phone including talk, text, browse the internet, and indulge themselves on various forms of media. The reasons to go out and socialize are slowly diminishing as companies are finding new ways to keep people glued to their phone screens. People no longer have the urge to go out and experience new situations or learn new information. All the information they could possibly want to know sits in the palm of their hand, eliminating the need for any type of patience. With society now favoring easier ways of communication, face to face interaction will inevitably become less and less common. It s a common occurrence nowadays to see a group a friends sitting around on their phones not talking to each other, especially in younger crowds. Most social media apps like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram would have you believe that their service makes it easier to communicate with others. However, just the opposite is true. ... • 9. Bless Me, Ultima By Rudolfo Anaya When we think of childhood we think of blissful, exhilarating moments, like being pushed on a swing higher and higher feeling as if you could stretch your hand and grasp the clouds, as you experience the cooling air of a hot summer day on your blushed face, as you yelped to be pushed further into the clouds. We do not think of the anguish and questions that the sight of death brings. But that s exactly what happens to six year old Antonio Marez in the novel Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya. When young Antonio witnesses the death of a local War Veteran, a family friend, and a classmate, it leaves him with transforming effects, prompting him to question death, sin, morality, and in the end leading him to be ambivalent towards his Catholic beliefs. Through every mortifying act that he witnesses, he has the guidance of Ultima, an elderly curandera, healer, who uses her wisdom to lead Antonio to answer his own questions. Antonio s questions about good vs evil begin when he first foreshadows that his innocence and peace would be shattered and everything in his life would change forever. He foresees a new period of difficulty and conflict that parallels his transition away from childish innocence and towards becoming a man of learning. But the innocence which our isolation sheltered could not last forever, and the affairs of the town began to reach across our bridge and enter my life. (15). These creatures are not dangerous to humans, they are just animals who hunt other animals. This has become established knowledge, since it has been a never ending goal to bring the wolves back and help them flourish as they did in the early nineteenth century (Coleman, 2004). I do think that instead of exterminating the wolf in Durham, we should find it, if it exists, and add a tracking device. It would be a huge stepping stone in the study of this animal. This could enhance our knowledge on the species and may even help us form an idea on how to successfully repopulate the states with the species. Instead of the dark and biased article against the big bad wolf, this piece should take its place. The negative feelings addressed in the article need to be replaced with positive feelings because this would be a huge accomplishment for us if it was in fact a wolf that was sited. It would mean all of our past acts, research, and hard work is finally starting to pay off. Wolves would finally start coming back to the areas where they never should have disappeared ... • 11. Work-Family Balance Work Family Balance Contemporary gender role attitudes have changed partly as a response to the steady increase in women s participation in the labor force. Although this increase was especially evident in the 1970s and 1980s, as was the move toward more egalitarian attitudes, it continued in the 1990s through the present. College educated men and women are less likely to hold traditional ideas about gender, work and family roles. Within the family, attitudes toward gender roles have become more liberal, moving in the direction of sharing of housework and childcare. (Cohen, Devault Strong, 2011). An ideal for modern family is to share wage earning and family responsibilities in equal basis (Lamanna, Riedman and Strahm, 2012). Giraffe (2011) stated that individuals manage the competing demands of work and personal lives, the need for lifelong learning, and the responsibilities of parenting are real issues for today s workforce. Social institutions such as marriage and childrearing have changed, leading to more single mothers, evolving roles for women in the workplace, and more men in new roles at home. Longer life expectancy and later childbearing age have created the sandwich generation of middle aged adult workers, who simultaneously provide care for their children and their senior family members. A great deal of research and other writings on the subject suggest that today s typical dual earner family or a family with a working single parent is a hectic one; this is ... The emergency department handles on an average 100 patients per day. The hospital s CEO has authorized the Six Sigma Team (SST) to address complaints received from patients seeking treatment between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. The complaints are centered on waiting times and poor service. During this time the data indicates that approximately 70% of the department s admissions occur (University of Phoenix, 2009, Course Syllabus). To address these complaints and improve performance of the emergency department the Six Sigma Team must understand process improvement proposals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Data collection can be subdivided into three categories with service type, department, and floor. This collection of data is valuable tool that managers need to have in order to understand the flow of business within each department. With the collection of data it will allow managers to calculate the volumes of patients during specific times. The SST will require data collected from all computers used to monitor access to the admission system. Additional data will have specific times at which the patient reported to various stations of treatment, and when the patient was discharged. A multivariate trend forecasting method will be more appropriate in this setting; the use of multiple variables about the item being forecasted allows seasons and cycles to be combined with other variables and improve forecast accuracy (Langabeer, 2008). This will give operation managers better forecasting abilities as they will be able to see trends. Finally, the SST will need to analyze the amount of resources or assets available to serve demand (Langabeer, 2008). Quantitative data needed to measure capacity will include: the number of available beds and treatment rooms, the number of key providers and other staff available at each point of care between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., and availability of key medical technologies and equipment. Examples of key medical equipment are diagnostic imaging, X ray and laboratory equipment. Methods to Analyze The first step in analyzing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Parenting Is A Legacy For Children Parenting: A Legacy For Children Parenting is a process of supporting children through the ups and downs of life. From infancy to adulthood, parents play an important role in the development of their children. They are expected to ensure the child s health and safety, prepare them to function as citizens of society, and teach them about what is important in life. Many parents learn how to parent by looking at the way they were raised. However, with the stresses and strains that families face today, it is also a good idea to be open to adding parenting tools to their toolbox. These tools are taught at places such as a parent education group for ex offenders. Most of them have children of various ages. A social worker leads the group to enhance their knowledge and skill sets and share topics such as being present in the child s life, praising a child, effective discipline, and unconditional love. Parents need to be present in their child s life, more connected, despite all the struggles and chaos of living. Both child and parent need to get sufficient sleep, which enables them to function better. When people are sleep deprived, they do not perform as well and are likely to be irritable. Waiting until the weekend or a day off from regular activities to catch up on sleep does not work. Also, cell phones need a break. Constantly being attached to cell phones hinders people s abilities to interact. Parents who model this behavior may make their child feel that phone conversations are more important than interactions with them. There was a woman who said hello to a teenager while in the community. In response, the young man was not sure of what to say. He was so used to talking and texting to people on his cell phone that he found it difficult to talk to someone in person. In addition, join in on your child s fun. If a child is doing arts and crafts, playing a sport, or watching a TV show, participate in the activities. Even when a parent is not physically able to do a sport, they can ask their child about it. They can also go to sporting events and talk about the activity. The main point is to stay connected to your child and their interests. In response to the social worker s presentation, various ... • 14. Comparison Of Blockbuster And Independent Films In this essay, I will elaborate on the coexistence of blockbuster and independent films in America with emphasis on independent film making concentrating on the similarities and differences portrayed. Co existence The explosion of independent films in America started in the mid 80s due to the lack of creative niche films after the reorganization of the Hollywood studio systems. During this era, the big Hollywood studio system ran like a Ford Production plant systemized and standardized, pumping out action themed big budget blockbuster films one after another targeted for Americas widest audience of young kids and teenagers. By doing so, they left an untapped market or void that was eventually filled by the independent filmmakers comprised of a group of upcoming women and African Americans who produced movies on very low budgets that spoke about social issues and injustices for the common people. Independent Film ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The films produced by the indie auteurs are classified as niche films. These types of films were usually produced by filmmakers who did not fit the current Hollywood culture during the time as women and people of color were minimally employed to say the least. Niche films are focused on specific demographics and therefore are significantly less profitable due to the smaller yet loyal fan base. Unlike the 70 s, when auteur pictures backed by studio money and muscle were top grossing films, in the 80s and 90s the audience for even the most compelling independent auteur pictures was significantly smaller. (Lewis) For instance, due to the lack of funding and smaller target audiences the well known indie films of the eighties and early nineties made only 1/100th of the average blockbuster at the ... • 16. The First Movement of Beethoven s Sonata Op.31 No.1... This sonata was composed around 1802, a point at which Beethoven experienced the crisis of encroaching deafness. From then on, the composer started to introduce innovative and bold ideas within classical framework in his musical composition to expand the expressiveness of his music. His novel approach was evident in his formal and harmonic arrangement in the first movement of Sonata Op.31 No.1. Distinctive harmonic departure from the classical sonata form convention fills the movement with drama. In classical sonata form convention, tonality is to be established in the first theme with no ambiguity so as to make contrast with the second theme, which is normally set in the dominant. In the first movement of Beethoven s sonata Op.31 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He preserved the harmonic integrity by finally returning to the home key G major (Fig. G) in the closing section of the second theme (mm.265 275). Fig. F Fig. G The return to the home key can be seen as a relief from the dissonance produced by the passages of second themes in E major and b minor. Yet, the tonality on G major is not distinctive enough to induce a home returning emotion in the listeners. Therefore, the composer restated the opening of the first theme in G major and continues with arpeggiando passages (Fig. H) (mm.288 295) establishing the dominant of the home key. The coda (mm.295 324) consists only simple harmonies (Fig. I) of the tonic and dominant seventh, reassuring the listeners the sense of finally returning home. Fig .H Fig .I Employing remote keys and tonicisation seem not sufficient for the composer to display his ability to expand the expressiveness of his music. Thus, Beethoven employed the technique modal mixture through out the second theme in both exposition and recapitulation. For instance, the second theme in the exposition starts with B major harmony (mm.65 69) (Fig. C). With a descending scale, the second theme swiftly changes to b minor (mm.72 79) (Fig. J). It creates abrupt change in the mood from a sweet dance like major passage to a stormy minor one. From measure 72, b minor persists throughout the second theme except ... It was an important conflict with long lasting consequences, especially for the Native Americans in North America. The main cause of the war was America s desire to expand its territory (history.com war of 1812 ). Just like everything else in America s history people were greedy and always wanted more. More land equals more workers which equals more money. Native Americans did not own land, land was known Mother Earth, everyone shared all she had to offer, nothing was taken for granted, nothing was wasted, everything had its own importance. When new settlers came to the Americas they were looking for new land, new territory for their settlements. Some did not know that the land already had settlers; Natives. Think of when you have visitors at your home, are you welcoming? Most of the time you are. That is exactly how the natives were with these new settlers. Though they did not speak the same language the natives offered a helping hand, just to get spit on in return. Not literally, but figuratively, the new settlers seen natives as people that could be changed. So that s what they did, they tried to assimilate the Indians teaching them the white man s ways. Had I the temerity and the conceit to compose a sonnet in the style of John Donne using circles and spheres as tropes such are metaphors I might use to construct my strong lines . And with Donne like boldness I might even entitle my work: Areolas of Love . On the other hand, if I attempted the same task along Petrarchan lines, I d meter out a couple of stanzas dedicated to a radiant but distance Laura with sapphire eyes, a head of gold diaphanous hair, encircled by halos of blue butterflies and, for good measure, I might throw in a merry go round of unicorns. Such stereotypes are often found in discussions of the poetry of John Donne and his philosophy of sex and love especially when contrasted to Petrarchan sonneteers. But, as with most stereotypes, the underlying assumptions may be too facile. In fundamental ways, John Donne can be seen not as a rebuke of the Petrarchan tradition but rather as an extenuation of this form of literature when it took a literary turn sharp north and wound up in the drawing rooms of England ( The Good Morrow , 20). Indeed, even biographically, Donne and Petrarch had much in common. Both were well educated, well rounded and well travelled born to families with aristocratic ties; each a universal man (uomo universale) baptized in the universal church. • 21. Dithos And Pathos In Advertising In society today, consumers decisions for buying products is heavily influenced by the marketing strategies created by advertiser. The first ad presented is advertising certified pre owned BMWs, while the second ad is marketing Lincoln MKZs. The BMW ad is targeted towards middle class people looking for a luxury vehicle at a decent price. The Lincoln, however, is directed towards wealthy upper class people looking for a luxury vehicle. Although the advertisements are appealing to two different audiences, they both utilize ethos and pathos in an attempt to reach potential consumers. To understand how advertisers attempt to influence audiences to promote a certain idea or purchase a specific item, an explanation of the rhetorical devices used would be helpful. For that reason, the emotional appeal, pathos, focuses on invoking an audiences emotions using elements such as humor, sympathy, hatred, or fear (Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz 28). In addition, ethos, the character appeal, intends to persuade an audience by establishing authority and credibility (Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz 40). While there are more rhetorical devices, ethos and pathos are the two that are prevalent in both advertisement videos. Both seem to attempt to gain trust and invoke the audience to partake in a specific action. To go in depth and understand the ad, one needs to know what it is exactly. Many people often assume that these intense games have a direct correlation to becoming a violent person. While many people agree with this, the research is not 100% accurate. This makes it very hard to find proof that a violent video game is one of the leading causes of a violent person. We are often blaming these games for a more internal complex problem. One of the leading video games Call Of Duty focuses on killing people in order to win the game. This game has over 40 million users and is the most successful franchise in all of history. In my opinion what is the fun of theoretically killing virtual people? I do not think kids should be subjective to watching this violence at a young age. These games should be geared for adults more than children. When the child is held at the age of accountability they can then decide what games are good for them. When a shooting happens many people are looking for reasons as to why it happened, many times they automatically assumed that person played violent video games. Conservatives start to raise their opinion when things in American go awry. Republican Donald Trump tweeted on Twitter: Video game violence glorification must be stopped it s creating monsters! They consisted of royal officials, wealthy merchants, conservative urban lawyers, people who disliked pro revolution citizens, southern slaves who looked to Britain in hope of freedom, and a multitude of Indian tribes. Contrary to popular view, one could argue that the American Revolution was not only a fight between the Patriots and the British, but it was really a civil war between the Rebels and the Tories. The fight between the Rebels and the Tories can be described as brutal because of the guerilla warfare, brigade war, tarring and feathering, and killings that were exhibited between the two sides. According to Tories: Fighting For the King in America s First Civil War, General Nathanael Greene stated, The division among the people is much greater than I imagined and the Whigs and Tories persecute each other, with little less than savage fury. Justice, in fact, can have many different meanings. To the majority, justice means fairness or equality.
