Calvin s Epistemology Essay
How is it possible to know anything at all? John Calvin gives his answer to this timeless question in
Chapters 1 3 of his Institutes. His theory of epistemology is based on his belief that humans are
naturally aware of God. He also asserts two fundamental knowledges God and self and he elaborates
upon the relationship between the two.

There, he sought more education, and opted to further his intellectual career. Years later in 1536,
Institutes of the Christian Religion, was released by Calvin himself in Basel, Switzerland.6 To this
day, it remains one of the most important and influential literary works regarding theology. This piece
also made Calvin known as a key follower of Protestantism. His theory of epistemology is based on
his belief that humans are naturally aware of God. He also asserts two fundamental knowledges God
and self and he elaborates upon the relationship between the two.7
How is it possible to know anything at all? Theologians and philosophers across the ages have
contemplated, debated, and wrote about this timeless question. There have been many proposed
theories, and many still exist while others have been modified, or totally abandoned. As Christians, we
like to use God as the answer for everything we do not understand, so one might respond, God allows
us to know things. Okay, yes, in a sense, because He is absolutely sovereign, so anything at all that
ever occurs happens with his permission.8 While this simplistic answer may be enough for the

Time As A DHS Student Of American History
I think that as my time as a DHS student that American History has been one of the most interesting
classes that I have taken a part in. I enjoyed learning about how we formed as a countries as well as
the issues that we faced internally and how we dealt with them. Something that I had never realized
before taking this class was how much art was effected by U.S. principals at the time. For example, in
World War II with propaganda in newspapers and in cartoons, we depicted the Japanese as inferior, as
well as less intelligent. The reason that they did this was so that people were not intimidated by the
Japanese and were not afraid to fight them in the Pacific. Before this year I did not realize the
profound effect that art had on society and how people viewed issues of the time. I really enjoyed this
class because it focused onto these aspects that other history classes did not go into such depth about
and opened my mind to different ways to make connections to ideas.
I think that you would be the ideal teacher to write my recommendation because I felt very
comfortable participating in my class and sharing ideas that might not have always been the most
mainstream answer. Personally, I think that you can easily see my growth from ... Show more content

I actually enjoyed writing this paper much more than any other because I found it very interesting that
I was able to connect something that at first was just a group project that we chose out of our own
interest, to primary sources on topics many decades before. I think that in this paper I was effective at
being specific and driving my thesis home well. In my opinion, I was able to make interesting
connections that tied together the different time periods in American history linking them as one as
showing the reader that Americans were more concerned about expanding their sphere of influence
out of fear, neglecting human rights in the

Love, And Platotic Aspects Of Love By William Shakespeare
During the English Renaissance, there was a bloom of literature, fueled by the advent of the printing
press and the patronage of the nobility. Beginning with Petrarch s popularization of the Italian form,
the sonnet became the English mainstay for portrayals of love. The progression of the Renaissance
saw the experience of love detailed in many different ways through form, allegory, allusion, and
metaphor. The fashioning of the love object in sonnets varies from writer to writer and progresses
from an outward, ethereal love to an inward love, rooted in reality as the centuries progressed.
Petrarchan love objects are larger than life holy in nature, whilst anti Petrarchan loves are human and
flawed. Poets of this time grappled with the Platonic conventions of love: What does love mean on the
grand scale? What constitutes the ideal experience? Is love a reflection of the holy, or is it a reflection
of our most base human qualities? Each poet crafted their image of the love object in varying ways:
Francesco Petrarch wrote an idol, Edmund Spenser wrote a genuine, yet ideal woman, William
Shakespeare catered to harsh realism, and Lady Mary Wroth wrote of a stormy, imperfect lover.
Petrarch is the father of the sonnet and his fashioning of Laura in his vast sonnet cycle set the first bar
for portrayals of the beloved in English Renaissance literature. As a member of the clergy and a
stringent adherent to the church, Petrarch found his principles and devotion shaken when he beheld

The English renaissance was specific in its distraction with religion and the place of man in
association with God. Britain had experienced a particularly a laden period in its religious feelings
with Henry VIII having taken the nation through the reconstruction, the nation having gone from
being Catholic to getting to be plainly Protestant, disciples of the recently framed Church of England.
Some may guarantee that the King James Bible and Cranmer s Book of Common Prayer remain as
specific cases of English renaissance talk that should have been significantly persuasive upon English
Literature of the period. For quality, expository virtuoso, passionate intricacy, profundity, and
assortment, the stories of the English Renaissance is unparalleled. Literature denoted a move from a
period of confidence to a time of reason. Writing speaks to the turbulence in the public, religion, and
the government of this period. Life for the English individuals changed as religious debate and
common war shook the country. These issues reformulated the part of people in the public eye,
viewpoints of confidence, and social structures in England. Authors of this period offer their own
methods of insight as evidence of the issues and affected the masses. Particular cases of creators of

Shakespeare ostensibly imagined an extraordinarily English adaptation of the Renaissance, for he
wove together the plots of antiquated tragedies with the histories of medieval England so unbelievably
that it was hard to unravel them. In addition, Shakespeare saturated some of his characters with an
unmistakably medieval method for thinking. By making such rationale appear to be obsolete,
Shakespeare characterized Renaissance methods of thought and their separation from the medieval

Family Unit in Human Sociological Terms
Overview The Family Unit In human sociological terms, the family is described as a group of people
that have affinity traditionally, organized through husband, wife, and children and/or extended
relatives. This unit, called the nuclear family, was a historical organization that served economic and
cultural needs, educated children in societal behaviors, and offered stability. In the modern age,
however, families of all kinds exist. There may be one two, three or more parents involved in the child
s overall plan; those parents may be traditional, grandparents or care givers, same sex couples, or
multiple divorces, etc. We live in a diverse world, not just in the United States, but globally. Preparing
children for a leadership role in this world also requires that we take into account individual micro and
macro differences, celebrate those differences, and view the family as assisting in any way possible
the positive relationship of the community, the schools, and other resources to help those children
actualize (Hareven, 1991; Berman, 2010).
Carl Whitaker and Theory Carl Whitaker was one of the founding generation of family therapists. He
died in 1995, but his ideas, theories, and methods surrounding family therapy were seminal in
changing the focus from the individual to the family unit as a whole in therapy. His ideas were first
presented in a 1978 book, co written with Augustus Napier, called The Family Crucible. In this book,
Whitaker noted that overuse of theory can

Bram Stoker s Popula
The book I chose to read for the book review is Dracula by Irish author Bram Stoker. It is a Gothic
horror novel and was published May 26, 1897. 1897 was the height of the British Empire expansion.
Great Britain had expanded to much of the land of Africa, Asia, and North America, which they used
to fuel its tremendous military and economic power. But this high point was also the start of the
declined to the British power. America s and Germany s rise in powers threated to remove Great
Britain as the most powerful country. The increase of immigration brought many new unfamiliar races
and cultures onto British soil. The turn of the century saw a sometime violent reaction to the
foreigners.
Back when Dracula was written it was not an immediate bestseller when it was published even though
reviewers were generous with their praises of it. One review even said, Dracula is cleverly
constructed, skillfully and strongly told, and has a strong hold upon the imagination, and will hold its
own with the few really powerful stories of its kind... (Mercury) It did make much money for Stoker

Analysis Of Nella Larsen And Chester Himes Essay
Nella Larsen and Chester Himes both published novels in the first half of the twentieth century that
deal with Black characters passing for white. Particularly because the race of some characters is fairly
ambiguous in Larsen s novel, members of the Black race as defined here will include those with any
known Black ancestry. Therefore race is being defined with respect to the one drop rule, which
dictates that any small presence of African ancestry requires individuals to be granted a hypo
descendent racial status. This decision came about because both novels are set and were published
during a time when legal racial status largely determined individuals economic power in order to
maintain Jim Crow segregation (Davis 17 19). Given this definition of Blackness, both Larsen s
Passing and Himes If He Hollers deal with the concept of Blacks passing as white. Himes Robert Bob
Jones and Alice Harrison, and Larsen s Irene Redfield and Clare Bellew are all Black characters who
are able to pass at some point. On the surface, this is possible simply because those characters all have
very light skin. However, it is also true that those same characters either have an apparent respectable
status, or both money and a respectable status. This status is determined by such traits as dialect and
speech, as well as expensive clothes. These factors all influence whether or not the light skinned Black
characters are able to pretend to be white in white spaces. Though they

Research Paper On The United Kingdom
Country Overview
The United Kingdom is an island nation off the western coast of Europe, comprised of the four nations
of England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. With a total population of 64.4 million people over
nearly 242,000 sq. kilometers, the United Kingdom (commonly shortened to the UK) is the fourth
most densely populated country in Europe. The majority of the population is centered around a few
cores, most notably the capital of London. Other major population centers include Manchester,
Birmingham, Glasgow, and Liverpool. (All facts and figures in the above paragraph are from the
United States Central Intelligence Agency.)
The majority language spoken in the UK is English, although with some variations in spelling and
vocabulary from the English spoken in the United States. Some regional languages exist, such as
Gaelic, Scots, or Cornish. The currency of the United Kingdom is the British Pound. The current
conversion of the British Pound to the U.S. Dollar is 1 GBP = 1.2236 USD (Bird).
Culture and Customs
The population make up is similar to that of the United States and Canada. The majority of the
population identifies as white, with a descending percentage of minority ethnicities or nationalities.
While people in the United Kingdom are generally accepting of various religions it would still be best
to avoid this topic of conversation. Negative past events can make for uncomfortable, or even hostile,
emotions. It is also wise to avoid discussing politics

How does William Wordsworth s poetry fit into the...
How does William Wordsworth s poetry fit into the literary tradition of Romanticism?
Q. How does William Wordsworth s poetry fit into the literary tradition of Romanticism?
A. Romantic poetry was an artistic movement of the late 18th and early
19th century. It dealt with nature, human imagination, childhood and the ability to recall emotional
memories of both happiness and sadness. Before Wordsworth began writing his revolutionary new
style of poetry, all preceding poetry had a very different style.
The reason these poems were classed as revolutionary was because he believed that romantic poetry
should describe incidents of common life and ordinary people and were written in deliberately plain
words. It was what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and a single small cottage the only dwelling on earth that she loves She looks, her heart to heaven
This shows how happy she is at seeing her cottage, in the countryside that she loves.
However, this soon fades. The images go away and she is sad once again as she goes back to her
unhappy life in the city where she feels trapped. This fits into Romanticism by including most of the
main features. It deals with human feelings and how Susan is sad. It includes memories and the use of
imagination. It also shows probably the most important feature, which is a love of nature. We see that
Susan feels truly happy surrounded by hills and pastures.
We also see this in Wordsworth s most famous and well known poem
Daffodils . Wordsworth thought of his poetry as originating in
emotion recollected in tranquillity . His memories were memories of strong feelings of happiness
brought about by something or some landscape connected to the nature.
In Daffodils , we again see all the features that make this poem fit into the tradition of Romanticism
and Romantic Poetry.
Wordsworth describes nature and says how beautiful it is and the beauty he sees when he looks at the
daffodils.
when all at once I saw a crowd, a host of golden daffodils .
He also uses his imagination to see the daffodils almost as human beings. He describes their
movements as, and compares

Human Organs Should Be Banned
Why wait your life in anticipation for a human organ when you could purchase the right match and
start living your life? Day in and day out people around the world pass away before they can even
have the chance to live. Usually the waiting list exceeds the amount of organs available. Nevertheless,
the sales of human organs should be legalized in the hopes that people have a chance to live.
Organ sale for example, allowing or encouraging consenting adults to become living kidney donors in
return for money has been proposed as a possible solution to the seemingly chronic shortage of organs
for transplantation. Many people however regard this idea as abhorrent and argue both that the
practice would be unethical and that it should be banned. This entry outlines some of the different
possible kinds of organ sale, briefly states the case in favor, and then examines the main arguments
against.
The expression organ sale covers a wide range of different practices. People most readily associate it
with the case in which one individual (who needs or wants money) sells his or her kidney to another
(who needs a kidney). But there are other possibilities too. One (in countries where the prior consent
of the deceased is required for cadaveric organ donation) is to pay people living now for rights over
their body after death. Another (in countries where the consent of relatives is required for cadaveric
organ donation) is to pay relatives for transplant rights over their recently

OVERVIEW
In 2004, Riverview Medical Center (RRMC), originally called The Holy Name of Jesus Hospital, was
acquired and revamped by the Hospital Management Associates (HMA) and has become a state of art
facility with improved efficiencies to ensure high quality care. RRMC is a 281 licensed bed acute care
facility accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, certified for
participation in the Medicare Program, and contracted/participated in Blue Cross Plans (Richards
Slovensky, 2004). The facility is one of the primary employers in the area and provides job
opportunities to approximately 700 individuals (Richards Slovensky, 2004). RRMC encountered
significant challenges against their competitors, Mountain View, Gadsden Regional and HealthSouth.
A major challenge was the fact that they were not the sole or primary healthcare provider in the
market service area. Secondly, many of RRMC s key medical staff members and group practices were
not in a central location within the vicinity of the hospital. Thirdly, RRMC s emergency department
was in great need of renovation and they lacked in the variety of clinical programs they offered in

Mutual Engagement and Shared Diagnosis
Organizations must respond to their internal and external environment. Therefore, organizational
success heavily relies on leaderships ability to manage change. Unfortunately, many leaders struggle
to effectively lead change initiatives. In fact, Ashkenas (2013, para. 1) reported 60 70% of
organizational change initiatives fail to meet their objectives.
Change is difficult because all organizations cultures, structures, mission, and values are unique. As a
result, there is not a blueprint that leaders can follow to ensure change initiative success. However,

An arbitration clause is a section in a contract that requires the parties to decide their differences over
an arbitration process. Though such a clause may or might not agree that arbitration happen inside a
specific authority, it always binds the parties to a type of resolution outside of the courts, and is
therefore considered a kind of forum selection clause.
The federal government in The United States has spoken a rule of support of arbitration clauses,
because they want to reduce the load on court systems to resolve arguments. It is found in the Federal
Arbitration Act, which licenses required and compulsory arbitration for which under the ... Show more

It can be an exclusion clause or a term in a contract that pursues to limit the rights of the parties to the

Patriotism in Spiderman Movies
The portrayal of the feelings of the general public is constantly used in film to stir the audience. If the
filmmaker can rouse their feelings, people will be more engrossed in the movie than they would be
otherwise. What is arguably the strongest emotion in many people is the feeling of patriotism. As
George Bernard Shaw said, Patriotism is your conviction that this country is superior to all other
countries because you were born in it. Though this feeling is not necessarily based on logic, it is none
the less one of the most powerful feelings along with hatred and love. Depending on when a movie is
made, the amount of patriotism portrayed is directly related to the political and social climate on the
time. Specifically, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This movie doesn t jolt the viewer into having a greater feeling of patriotism afterwards, but it does
reaffirm their support for the troops and however much patriotism they felt beforehand. Though
Spider Man (2002) and Spider Man 2 (2004) are very close together in terms of time and plotline, the
way they use the superhero to bring out the movie goers feeling of patriotism is very different. The
first is almost completely blind in the amount of patriotism it fed its audience. With the unwavering
support for the government the American public felt at the time, the movie not only portrayed the
country s patriotic feelings, but actually caused a temporary increase in the amount of patriotism felt
by most movie goers. This patriotism is very simple, but can have a great impact when used at the
right times. The second Spider Man movie had just as much patriotism as the first, but it was used in a
much more subtle way. Spiderman was no longer the faceless leader of the people against evil, but he
was a representative of the American troops and how human they really are. Spiderman was no longer
invincible in this movie, and although he won in the end, he took a lot more damage than he did in the
first movie. Just as real men and women died overseas, Spiderman was injured badly and only
survived by his strong will and the undying support of the citizens of New York. Together, Spider Man
(2002) and Spider Man 2

Examples Of Male Dominance In A Doll s House
Male dominance in a doll s house In a doll s house , Henrik Ibsen shows the dominance of male in the
society of that time . Although Nora is the mistress of the house but all the things are controlled by
Torvald . We see it when Nora says , Torvald certainly knows how to make a house attractive and

This drama questions the authority of man over woman. While the Victorian woman did not usually
question their husband s entitlement to household authority, they desired trust and intimacy which
made them less ready to accept husbands who treated them as inferior being which is reflected in Nora
s reaction in the last scene. Women were less educated which made them vulnerable in the society this
also made living alone for the women very difficult as they had no source of income. Even if the
woman was educated they were allowed to do low paying jobs only. During the Victorian period men
and women s roles became sharply defined than at any time in history. Men and women had their
different spheres which were not allowed to mingle with each other. They didn t interfere in each other
s matters. As we see in the drama Helmer has his own study where he was undisrupted. Women didn t
had any say in the decisions pertaining to their social well being. Everything was decided by the male
and the female had to follow it. Too many rules and regulations were imposed on women. Women

Amazing Grace Walberforce Leadership Qualities
The movie Amazing Grace follows the life of William Wilberforce, a young merchant s son who took
up a career in the House of Commons in Parliament. After converting to Christianity, Wilberforce
realized his calling was to end the horrific and dehumanizing reality of the slave trade. During the
course of his fight to end the slave trade in Great Britain, he exemplified many leadership traits. These
leadership characteristics stemmed from his vivid vision, were fueled by his passionate values, and
through relentless persistence, allowed him to change the most powerful and influential nation in the
world. One characteristic displayed by William Wilberforce that is inherent to every leader is vision.

Perseverance is the leadership trait that often goes unnoticed in the life of a leader. Many people see
leaders following their success and never think about the years of hard work and failure that occurred
prior. In the case of Wilberforce, his persistence was staggering especially in light of all the adversity
he faced. During his decade long quest, he proposed multiple bills, all of which failed. While
proposing those bills, he was constantly jeered and mocked. His image and reputation suffered,
rumors were spread about him, yet he persevered. His health deteriorated to the point of extreme
suffering, yet he persevered. The final scene of the movie shows the respect that Wilberforce received
due to his perseverance as both his friends and political enemies gave him a standing ovation
following the passing of the bill that abolished slavery. Perseverance is the trait that makes a leader
stand out from the crowd. It shows that the leader is fully committed to their cause, and no matter the
hardships, they willing to see their vision established into

historical event in the history of the United States because its foundation of the idea of this country.
But behind the bright side of the main stream idea of the public, there are also dark sides in the

going to admire the great achievement of the American Revolution nor criticize the bloody and dirty
trades behind the Revolution. I am here to explain that just like or other major events of human
history, Everything happened during and after the American Revolution is just a nature of human
being.
American Revolution was bloody and cruel, just like all other great revolutions in the history.
Besides the so called ideas carrying for the revolution like liberty and democracy, the Revolution

Essay on Discuss Some Of The Main Ideas
Sigmund Freud considered himself a scientist whose intention was to find a physiological and
materialist basis for his theories of the psyche. Freud revolutionised the way in which we think about
ourselves. From its beginnings as a theory of neurosis, Freud founded and developed psychoanalysis
into a general psychology, which became widely accepted as the predominant mode of discussing
personality, behaviour and interpersonal relationships.
Freud, who had been studying neuropathology, left Vienna in 1885 to continue his studies in Paris
under the guidance of Jean Martin Charcot. This proved to be the turning point in his career, for
Charcot s work with patients classified as hysterics introduced Freud to the possibility that ... Show

By the death instinct, Freud meant an urge to self destruction and ultimately a universal impulse to
return to an earlier state. The death instinct may express itself in potentially self destructive behaviour
such as taking increasing risks, drug or alcohol addiction and attempts at suicide. The death instinct
might also be directed outwards in the form of aggression against others.
Freud believed that every child is born with a variety of drives and instincts that require nourishment
or stimulation. When there is conflict or deprivation of needs, anxiety and insecurity develop.
Defensive manoeuvres are adopted to handle the stress, ultimately leading to maladaptive behaviour.
These defences operate at an unconscious level and continue into adulthood. So according to Freud
the main causes of behaviour disorders are childhood anxieties and the defences erected against them.
Freud came to the conclusion based on his clinical experience with female hysterics, that the most
instant source of resisted material was sexual in nature. His patients seemed to recall actual
experiences of early seductions, often incestuous in nature. Freud s initial impulse was to accept these
as having happened but later concluded that rather than being memories of actual events, these
recollections were the remains of infantile impulses and desires to be seduced by an adult, and it was
this that was at the root of later conflict.
Most human beings can recall very little of their

As can be seen in the table above, the average volatility implied in the prices at which long term
Telstar call options are trading is 35.900%. This is the estimated volatility I intend to use in my
calculation of Sally s stock options.
4. What is your estimate of the value of Sally s ESO package? If you were to take the options and
gamble on the stock price going forward, what percentage of the time do you think you would make
more than what Black Scholes calculates? CALL OPTIONS: Telstar Communications S: Stock Price
($) $ 18.75000 X: Strike or Exercise Price ($) $ 35.00000 T: Time to Maturity (years) 5.00000 r:
Annual Interest Rate 0.06020 s: Annual Standard Deviation 0.35900 d: Asset Yield
Entering the above parameters into the Black Scholes Calculator yields an option price of $3.908 for
the ESOs being offered to Sally. Assuming the Black Scholes Option Valuation Model provides the
mean valuation from a distribution of equally likely price paths, I would imagine that I would make
more than what Black Scholes calculates half the time, and less half the time.
5. What should Sally do? Why? Cash being offered: $5000.000 Value of Executive Stock Options:
$3.908 x 3,000 = $11,724.000 It thus appears that the value of the ESOs being offered to Sally is more
than twice the value of the cash being offered to her. Having said that, it s worthwhile noting

King Louis Vii s Reign
Louis VII was a Capetian King of the Franks from 1137 until his death. He was the son and successor
of King Louis IV of France, or most commonly known as Louis the Fat. He was married to Eleanor of
Aquitaine, one of the wealthiest and most powerful women in Western Europe. Reigned from 1137 to

In May 1152, Eleanor subsequently married the future Henry II of England (r. 1154 1189), whose
possessions in France and powerful ambition became a source of rivalry and conflict for Louis. His
contemporaries, including Odo de Deuil, Stephen of Paris, John of Salisbury, and Walter Map praised
Louis VII for his piety and his favorable disposition toward the church. He undertook pilgrimages to
Santiago de Compostela (1154 55), the Grande Chartreuse (1162 63), and to Canterbury (1179).
Because of a disputed papal election, Alexander III sought refuge in France in 1162, where he
received Louis s welcome. Louis s protection of Thomas Becket, who had fled to France in 1164 to
escape the wrath of Henry II, received widespread approval. Louis asserted his rights over the French
church, especially regarding episcopal elections in his realm and control over royal churches. To
provide continual support for his royal policies, elections to royal bishoprics often went to members of
the king s own household or to families loyal to Capetian interests. As a benefactor to the Templars,
Louis gave them the land for their commandery at Savigny, along with sizable rents and privileges. He

rights. There were women in Parliament, medicine, law, engineering and many other creditable

in relation to gender equality.
The current situation in Afghanistan contrasts the old one as black does white. Few women are

attending school after the age of eight (Stop). A journalist speaks of girls not being allowed to leave
the state orphanage building since 1996 although the boys go outside every day to attend school and

physicians aren t allowed to treat women and only a few selected female physicians can work only if
they are veiled and treat only women (Stop).
The punishments for violating the Taliban s laws are even more appalling than the laws themselves

Comparing The Film Cinderella And Charles Perrault s...
A Fairytale s Interpretation Movies create a new medium for fairytales to be enjoyed. The visual
appeal of tales is much greater rather than reading them; however, fairytale films lack an element of
imagination. Cinderella, for example, is a tale that exists in both the written and visual mediums. The
tale as written by Charles Perrault, named The Little Glass Slipper, provides room for imaginative
visual interpretation from his words. An interpretation that movies do not allow. In both the film
version and Perrault s written version, for instance, the audience receives the image of the glass
slipper. The written version allows the audience to imagine the glass slipper in whichever way they
see fit; the film portrays the glass slipper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using words in a fairytale would be more difficult and tedious to explain this part of the story. Films
do provide a visual stimulation for audiences, and this Cinderella live action movie provides an
interesting depiction of the fairytale.
Charles Perrault s The Little Glass Slipper provides a readable version of the Cinderella fairytale. This
well known version of Cinderella was not his first take of this tale, which may be how it became so
famous: he managed all the kinks out of the tale for it to be child and adult friendly. This written tale
gives you more context to the tale by the language used. The wording in the story provide deeper
meaning by the connotation of the words. Such language includes odious, wretched, wench,
magnificent, charming, and treasure. These words have ideas around them that associate feelings and
previous experiences. These feelings allow the audience to use their own imagination and experiences
to illustrate the fairytale. When Perrault describes Cinderella s treatment from her step family, this
scene can identify with many readers, thus making their own inferences about the visual aspect of the
tale and its characters. An example would be interpreting it as the demeaning hands and knees labor
while scrubbing soot off the floor. Others can view their own version of hard labor.
Charles Perrault s The Little Glass Slipper shares plot similarities with the Disney film version, but
Disney adds more theatrical elements to their

Persuasive Essay On Gender Pay Gap
In our constitution we are all equal, but why are we not paid equally? The gender wage gap movement
will result in social change because it is bringing awareness to women in the workplace getting paid
lower than her male counterpart. On the other hand, many other people may argue that the gap is not
because of gender, it is because men work longer hours compared to women since they have children
to take care of. I believe that this movement could improve by making people more aware of the
through more examples such as the Women s U.S.A. Soccer Team wanting more pay and equal pay.
The gender wage gap between men and women needs to be brought to people s attention due to the
cause of unequal amount of pay for the exact same job. Our question is what is a gender pay gap? A
gender wage gap is when you take the gap between both men and women s pay and get a certain
percentage and that is the gap between the two. This is a definition of gender pay gap according to an
Australian Government article, A gender pay gap is the difference between women s and men s
earnings, expressed as a percentage of men s earnings. Basically, you take the difference, or subtract,
between men s and women s earnings all over, divide, the men s earnings and you get a percentage of
the gap if there is any. Now, statistics have shown that the women s gap has narrowed some since the
1980 s, but it still continues. Adult women showed that the wage gap is smaller compared to the teen
wage, 90 cents for every dollar made by a man. Said by the article Fact Tank, ...adults ages 25 to 34,
the 2015 wage gap is smaller. Women in this group earned 90 cents for every dollar a man in the same
age group earned. Women within the age group of 25 to 34 gain 90 cents for every dollar a man within
the same age group earned. If you truly think about it sure the gap is slightly smaller, but why is it not
equal? They are around the same age and are doing the same job, whether it be part time or full time.
Now it was also stated within this article that these women, by estimation, would have to work around
44 days extra in order for them to earn what their counterpart made in 2015. However, how does it get
like this? Is it possible that even with same or

Dylan further represents America as a place with significant corruption and misconduct within the
song. Verse 12 reads; Bent out of shape from society s pliers, Cares not to come up any higher, But

society s pliers shape a person much like the aforementioned everyman completing his nine to five job

idea of trying to keep particular people down through the systematic means of government relates to
the oppression of black Americans of the time. Keeping certain people down for the government s

Years later in 1536, Institutes of the Christian Religion, was released by Calvin himself in Basel, Switzerland.6 To this day, it remains one of the most important and influential literary works regarding theology. This piece also made Calvin known as a key follower of Protestantism. His theory of epistemology is based on his belief that humans are naturally aware of God. He also asserts two fundamental knowledges God and self and he elaborates upon the relationship between the two.7 How is it possible to know anything at all? Theologians and philosophers across the ages have contemplated, debated, and wrote about this timeless question. There have been many proposed theories, and many still exist while others have been modified, or totally abandoned. As Christians, we like to use God as the answer for everything we do not understand, so one might respond, God allows us to know things. Okay, yes, in a sense, because He is absolutely sovereign, so anything at all that ever occurs happens with his permission.8 While this simplistic answer may be enough for the ... • 3. Time As A DHS Student Of American History I think that as my time as a DHS student that American History has been one of the most interesting classes that I have taken a part in. I enjoyed learning about how we formed as a countries as well as the issues that we faced internally and how we dealt with them. Something that I had never realized before taking this class was how much art was effected by U.S. principals at the time. For example, in World War II with propaganda in newspapers and in cartoons, we depicted the Japanese as inferior, as well as less intelligent. The reason that they did this was so that people were not intimidated by the Japanese and were not afraid to fight them in the Pacific. Before this year I did not realize the profound effect that art had on society and how people viewed issues of the time. I really enjoyed this class because it focused onto these aspects that other history classes did not go into such depth about and opened my mind to different ways to make connections to ideas. I think that you would be the ideal teacher to write my recommendation because I felt very comfortable participating in my class and sharing ideas that might not have always been the most mainstream answer. Personally, I think that you can easily see my growth from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I actually enjoyed writing this paper much more than any other because I found it very interesting that I was able to connect something that at first was just a group project that we chose out of our own interest, to primary sources on topics many decades before. I think that in this paper I was effective at being specific and driving my thesis home well. In my opinion, I was able to make interesting connections that tied together the different time periods in American history linking them as one as showing the reader that Americans were more concerned about expanding their sphere of influence out of fear, neglecting human rights in the ... • 4. Love, And Platotic Aspects Of Love By William Shakespeare During the English Renaissance, there was a bloom of literature, fueled by the advent of the printing press and the patronage of the nobility. Beginning with Petrarch s popularization of the Italian form, the sonnet became the English mainstay for portrayals of love. The progression of the Renaissance saw the experience of love detailed in many different ways through form, allegory, allusion, and metaphor. The fashioning of the love object in sonnets varies from writer to writer and progresses from an outward, ethereal love to an inward love, rooted in reality as the centuries progressed. Petrarchan love objects are larger than life holy in nature, whilst anti Petrarchan loves are human and flawed. Poets of this time grappled with the Platonic conventions of love: What does love mean on the grand scale? What constitutes the ideal experience? Is love a reflection of the holy, or is it a reflection of our most base human qualities? Each poet crafted their image of the love object in varying ways: Francesco Petrarch wrote an idol, Edmund Spenser wrote a genuine, yet ideal woman, William Shakespeare catered to harsh realism, and Lady Mary Wroth wrote of a stormy, imperfect lover. Petrarch is the father of the sonnet and his fashioning of Laura in his vast sonnet cycle set the first bar for portrayals of the beloved in English Renaissance literature. As a member of the clergy and a stringent adherent to the church, Petrarch found his principles and devotion shaken when he beheld ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Comparing King James Bible And Cranmer s Book Of Common... The English renaissance was specific in its distraction with religion and the place of man in association with God. Britain had experienced a particularly a laden period in its religious feelings with Henry VIII having taken the nation through the reconstruction, the nation having gone from being Catholic to getting to be plainly Protestant, disciples of the recently framed Church of England. Some may guarantee that the King James Bible and Cranmer s Book of Common Prayer remain as specific cases of English renaissance talk that should have been significantly persuasive upon English Literature of the period. For quality, expository virtuoso, passionate intricacy, profundity, and assortment, the stories of the English Renaissance is unparalleled. Literature denoted a move from a period of confidence to a time of reason. Writing speaks to the turbulence in the public, religion, and the government of this period. Life for the English individuals changed as religious debate and common war shook the country. These issues reformulated the part of people in the public eye, viewpoints of confidence, and social structures in England. Authors of this period offer their own methods of insight as evidence of the issues and affected the masses. Particular cases of creators of this period who exhibit English issues and ... Shakespeare ostensibly imagined an extraordinarily English adaptation of the Renaissance, for he wove together the plots of antiquated tragedies with the histories of medieval England so unbelievably that it was hard to unravel them. • 6. Family Unit in Human Sociological Terms Overview The Family Unit In human sociological terms, the family is described as a group of people that have affinity traditionally, organized through husband, wife, and children and/or extended relatives. This unit, called the nuclear family, was a historical organization that served economic and cultural needs, educated children in societal behaviors, and offered stability. In the modern age, however, families of all kinds exist. There may be one two, three or more parents involved in the child s overall plan; those parents may be traditional, grandparents or care givers, same sex couples, or multiple divorces, etc. We live in a diverse world, not just in the United States, but globally. Preparing children for a leadership role in this world also requires that we take into account individual micro and macro differences, celebrate those differences, and view the family as assisting in any way possible the positive relationship of the community, the schools, and other resources to help those children actualize (Hareven, 1991; Berman, 2010). Carl Whitaker and Theory Carl Whitaker was one of the founding generation of family therapists. He died in 1995, but his ideas, theories, and methods surrounding family therapy were seminal in changing the focus from the individual to the family unit as a whole in therapy. His ideas were first presented in a 1978 book, co written with Augustus Napier, called The Family Crucible. In this book, Whitaker noted that overuse of theory can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Bram Stoker s Popula The book I chose to read for the book review is Dracula by Irish author Bram Stoker. It is a Gothic horror novel and was published May 26, 1897. 1897 was the height of the British Empire expansion. Great Britain had expanded to much of the land of Africa, Asia, and North America, which they used to fuel its tremendous military and economic power. But this high point was also the start of the declined to the British power. America s and Germany s rise in powers threated to remove Great Britain as the most powerful country. The increase of immigration brought many new unfamiliar races and cultures onto British soil. The turn of the century saw a sometime violent reaction to the foreigners. Back when Dracula was written it was not an immediate bestseller when it was published even though reviewers were generous with their praises of it. One review even said, Dracula is cleverly constructed, skillfully and strongly told, and has a strong hold upon the imagination, and will hold its own with the few really powerful stories of its kind... • 8. Analysis Of Nella Larsen And Chester Himes Essay Nella Larsen and Chester Himes both published novels in the first half of the twentieth century that deal with Black characters passing for white. Particularly because the race of some characters is fairly ambiguous in Larsen s novel, members of the Black race as defined here will include those with any known Black ancestry. Therefore race is being defined with respect to the one drop rule, which dictates that any small presence of African ancestry requires individuals to be granted a hypo descendent racial status. This decision came about because both novels are set and were published during a time when legal racial status largely determined individuals economic power in order to maintain Jim Crow segregation (Davis 17 19). Given this definition of Blackness, both Larsen s Passing and Himes If He Hollers deal with the concept of Blacks passing as white. Himes Robert Bob Jones and Alice Harrison, and Larsen s Irene Redfield and Clare Bellew are all Black characters who are able to pass at some point. On the surface, this is possible simply because those characters all have very light skin. However, it is also true that those same characters either have an apparent respectable status, or both money and a respectable status. This status is determined by such traits as dialect and speech, as well as expensive clothes. These factors all influence whether or not the light skinned Black characters are able to pretend to be white in white spaces. Though they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How does William Wordsworth s poetry fit into the literary tradition of Romanticism? A. Romantic poetry was an artistic movement of the late 18th and early 19th century. It dealt with nature, human imagination, childhood and the ability to recall emotional memories of both happiness and sadness. Before Wordsworth began writing his revolutionary new style of poetry, all preceding poetry had a very different style. The reason these poems were classed as revolutionary was because he believed that romantic poetry should describe incidents of common life and ordinary people and were written in deliberately plain words. This fits into Romanticism by including most of the main features. It deals with human feelings and how Susan is sad. It includes memories and the use of imagination. It also shows probably the most important feature, which is a love of nature. We see that Susan feels truly happy surrounded by hills and pastures. We also see this in Wordsworth s most famous and well known poem Daffodils . Wordsworth thought of his poetry as originating in emotion recollected in tranquillity . His memories were memories of strong feelings of happiness brought about by something or some landscape connected to the nature. In Daffodils , we again see all the features that make this poem fit into the tradition of Romanticism and Romantic Poetry. Wordsworth describes nature and says how beautiful it is and the beauty he sees when he looks at the daffodils. when all at once I saw a crowd, a host of golden daffodils . Day in and day out people around the world pass away before they can even have the chance to live. Usually the waiting list exceeds the amount of organs available. Nevertheless, the sales of human organs should be legalized in the hopes that people have a chance to live. Organ sale for example, allowing or encouraging consenting adults to become living kidney donors in return for money has been proposed as a possible solution to the seemingly chronic shortage of organs for transplantation. Many people however regard this idea as abhorrent and argue both that the practice would be unethical and that it should be banned. By the death instinct, Freud meant an urge to self destruction and ultimately a universal impulse to return to an earlier state. The death instinct may express itself in potentially self destructive behaviour such as taking increasing risks, drug or alcohol addiction and attempts at suicide. The death instinct might also be directed outwards in the form of aggression against others. Freud believed that every child is born with a variety of drives and instincts that require nourishment or stimulation. When there is conflict or deprivation of needs, anxiety and insecurity develop. Defensive manoeuvres are adopted to handle the stress, ultimately leading to maladaptive behaviour. These defences operate at an unconscious level and continue into adulthood. So according to Freud the main causes of behaviour disorders are childhood anxieties and the defences erected against them. Freud came to the conclusion based on his clinical experience with female hysterics, that the most instant source of resisted material was sexual in nature. His patients seemed to recall actual experiences of early seductions, often incestuous in nature. Freud s initial impulse was to accept these as having happened but later concluded that rather than being memories of actual events, these recollections were the remains of infantile impulses and desires to be seduced by an adult, and it was this that was at the root of later conflict. In May 1152, Eleanor subsequently married the future Henry II of England (r. 1154 1189), whose possessions in France and powerful ambition became a source of rivalry and conflict for Louis. His contemporaries, including Odo de Deuil, Stephen of Paris, John of Salisbury, and Walter Map praised Louis VII for his piety and his favorable disposition toward the church. He undertook pilgrimages to Santiago de Compostela (1154 55), the Grande Chartreuse (1162 63), and to Canterbury (1179). Because of a disputed papal election, Alexander III sought refuge in France in 1162, where he received Louis s welcome. Louis s protection of Thomas Becket, who had fled to France in 1164 to escape the wrath of Henry II, received widespread approval. Louis asserted his rights over the French church, especially regarding episcopal elections in his realm and control over royal churches. To provide continual support for his royal policies, elections to royal bishoprics often went to members of the king s own household or to families loyal to Capetian interests. As a benefactor to the Templars, Louis gave them the land for their commandery at Savigny, along with sizable rents and privileges. He also made generous grants to smaller monastic ... (NOTE TO STUDENT: my teacher gave me a B+ and said I would have had an A if I had had more detail on the Taliban s reasons for these laws) Since 1996 Afghan women have been living fear for their safety and lives. A myriad of discriminating laws has been placed on Afghan women. The punishments for violating these laws are unimaginably inhuman. Before the Taliban took over Afghanistan the country was fairly progressive in terms of women s rights. There were women in Parliament, medicine, law, engineering and many other creditable professions (Shanahan). The majority of teachers were women (Shanahan). Half of the civil servants and university students were women (Shanahan). It seems the Afghan society was much like our own in relation to gender equality. The current situation in Afghanistan contrasts the old one as black does white. Few women are permitted to work. Those who are must do so inside their homes (Stop). Girls are banned from attending school after the age of eight (Stop). A journalist speaks of girls not being allowed to leave the state orphanage building since 1996 although the boys go outside every day to attend school and play (Stop). The Taliban have severely limited women s access to medical services because male physicians aren t allowed to treat women and only a few selected female physicians can work only if they are veiled and treat only women (Stop). The punishments for violating the Taliban s laws are even more appalling than the laws themselves and are among the most savage in the world. Often the punishments are dealt out in public in front of thousands of spectators. 30,000 men and boys gathered in an arena to eat biscuits and drink tea while watching women receiving the 100 lash ... • 32. Comparing The Film Cinderella And Charles Perrault s... A Fairytale s Interpretation Movies create a new medium for fairytales to be enjoyed. The visual appeal of tales is much greater rather than reading them; however, fairytale films lack an element of imagination. Cinderella, for example, is a tale that exists in both the written and visual mediums. The tale as written by Charles Perrault, named The Little Glass Slipper, provides room for imaginative visual interpretation from his words. An interpretation that movies do not allow. In both the film version and Perrault s written version, for instance, the audience receives the image of the glass slipper. The written version allows the audience to imagine the glass slipper in whichever way they see fit; the film portrays the glass slipper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using words in a fairytale would be more difficult and tedious to explain this part of the story. Films do provide a visual stimulation for audiences, and this Cinderella live action movie provides an interesting depiction of the fairytale. Charles Perrault s The Little Glass Slipper provides a readable version of the Cinderella fairytale. This well known version of Cinderella was not his first take of this tale, which may be how it became so famous: he managed all the kinks out of the tale for it to be child and adult friendly. This written tale gives you more context to the tale by the language used. The wording in the story provide deeper meaning by the connotation of the words. Such language includes odious, wretched, wench, magnificent, charming, and treasure. These words have ideas around them that associate feelings and previous experiences. These feelings allow the audience to use their own imagination and experiences to illustrate the fairytale. When Perrault describes Cinderella s treatment from her step family, this scene can identify with many readers, thus making their own inferences about the visual aspect of the tale and its characters. An example would be interpreting it as the demeaning hands and knees labor while scrubbing soot off the floor. Others can view their own version of hard labor. Charles Perrault s The Little Glass Slipper shares plot similarities with the Disney film version, but Disney adds more theatrical elements to their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Persuasive Essay On Gender Pay Gap In our constitution we are all equal, but why are we not paid equally? The gender wage gap movement will result in social change because it is bringing awareness to women in the workplace getting paid lower than her male counterpart. On the other hand, many other people may argue that the gap is not because of gender, it is because men work longer hours compared to women since they have children to take care of. I believe that this movement could improve by making people more aware of the through more examples such as the Women s U.S.A. Soccer Team wanting more pay and equal pay. The gender wage gap between men and women needs to be brought to people s attention due to the cause of unequal amount of pay for the exact same job. Our question is what is a gender pay gap? A gender wage gap is when you take the gap between both men and women s pay and get a certain percentage and that is the gap between the two. This is a definition of gender pay gap according to an Australian Government article, A gender pay gap is the difference between women s and men s earnings, expressed as a percentage of men s earnings. Basically, you take the difference, or subtract, between men s and women s earnings all over, divide, the men s earnings and you get a percentage of the gap if there is any. Now, statistics have shown that the women s gap has narrowed some since the 1980 s, but it still continues. Adult women showed that the wage gap is smaller compared to the teen wage, 90 cents for every dollar made by a man. Said by the article Fact Tank, ...adults ages 25 to 34, the 2015 wage gap is smaller. Women in this group earned 90 cents for every dollar a man in the same age group earned. Women within the age group of 25 to 34 gain 90 cents for every dollar a man within the same age group earned. If you truly think about it sure the gap is slightly smaller, but why is it not equal? They are around the same age and are doing the same job, whether it be part time or full time. Now it was also stated within this article that these women, by estimation, would have to work around 44 days extra in order for them to earn what their counterpart made in 2015. However, how does it get like this? Is it possible that even with same or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Loa Dylan To Me Essay Dylan further represents America as a place with significant corruption and misconduct within the song. Verse 12 reads; Bent out of shape from society s pliers, Cares not to come up any higher, But rather get you down in the hole . This line plays into the idea of keeping the human machine running, society s pliers shape a person much like the aforementioned everyman completing his nine to five job to feed the system . However, this line blatantly mentions But rather get you down in the hole . The idea of trying to keep particular people down through the systematic means of government relates to the oppression of black Americans of the time. Keeping certain people down for the government s benefit is clearly what the US government did to black Americans in an institutionalised fashion. However, funnily enough, through Dylan s representing the blights of American culture in his songs, the American people were able to reflect on injustice, which moved people to support social progress like the civil rights movement. The attitudes in America that adopted materialism and conformity were exposed through a multitude of Dylan s lyrics and additionally the ones who endorsed these values for their own gain were also left to stand naked through Dylan s work. At times, this song almost seems saddening reminding the audience of existential dread through certain lyrics, however, overall, it can be concluded the inherited despondency in the text is a testament to the verisimilitude within his writings providing a genuine feeling that his fans adore; which is ultimately why Dylan is credited as, the spokesman of his ...
