Example Of A Christian Research Paper
A Christian is a person who adheres to Christianity, an Abrahamic, monotheistic religion based on the
life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Christian derives from the Koine Greek word Christós, a translation
of the Biblical Hebrew term mashiach.
There are diverse interpretations of Christianity which sometimes conflict. However, Whatever else
they might disagree about, Christians are at least united in believing that Jesus has a unique
significance. It is also used as a label to identify people who associate with the cultural aspects of
Christianity, irrespective of personal religious beliefs or practices.
According to a 2011 Pew Research Center survey, there were 2.2 billion Christians around the world
in 2010, up from about 600 million in 1910. According to 100 Years of Nobel Prizes, a review of
Nobel prizes awarded between 1901 and 2000 reveals that of Nobel Prizes laureates identified
Christianity in its various forms as their religious preference.
Etymology
The Greek word, meaning follower of Christ , comes from, meaning anointed one , with an adjectival
ending borrowed from Latin to denote adhering to, or even belonging to, as in slave ownership. In the
Greek Septuagint, christos was used to translate the Hebrew ‫יַח‬ ‫ִׁש‬‫ָמ‬, meaning anointed. In other
European languages, equivalent words to Christian are likewise derived from the Greek, such as
Chrétien in French and Cristiano in Spanish.
Early usage
The first recorded use of the term is in the New

Washington Ichabod Crane In Washington Irving s The Legend...
Ichabod Crane, the main character in Washington Irving s short story entitled, The Legend of Sleepy
Hollow , shows that he is an extremely awkward individual throughout the story. Ichabod established
his stiffness when he has dinner with Mr. Van Ripper. He is debating going to a party because a certain
person, Brom Bones, will be attending. The author adds, Katrina and her father are having a party
tonight. Should I attend?...Well, Brom Bones will be there. He said if he caught me near Katrina, he d
flatten me like a pancake (Irving 13). This confirms that Ichabod does not enjoy confrontation at all.
He would rather avoid the entire situation as a whole by dismissing it right away. In addition, Ichabod
demonstrates how awkward he can be

Immature Wuthering Heights
In Wuthering Heights, both Edgar and Nelly have interesting views on Catherine. It s funny how they
both have negative perspectives on her, but each have total differences. One person sees her as totally
immature. The other sees her not using her full potential. However, the two see Catherine in different
angles opposed to how they interacted, and how the had time to think on their own experiences. In
Nelly s point of view I can to relate to what she sees. She sees Catherine as a big baby. I agree with
her completely. Catherine just throws temper tantrums just to get her way. It shows every time she is
displeased. Also, its just as the prompt says, she does it to get her own way. It s shown how she gives
no care about herself, or others when she doesn t get what she wants. ... Show more content on

However, I m not here to do that. Both Nelly and Edgar s beliefs about Catherine in the end are

use her intellect as well as her emotions to prove her point, but her emotional displays alarm

Honduras, The Land Of No Peace
Honduras, the land of no peace
Honduras is a mountainous area located in Central America. North and northwest of the Caribbean
Sea, Honduras is south of Nicaragua and west of Guatemala also being southwest of El Salvador
below the Pacific Ocean. The topography of the land is mainly mountainous with some non tropical
areas on the upper climate and tropical areas on the climate on the lower parts. Honduras also has a
little bit of flat land. Honduras is shaped similarly to the United States but flipped, being surrounded
by a sea and three countries with an opening at the bottom to the Pacific Ocean as mentioned above.
Honduras has been captured again and again. The country is new with its independence and struggles
because of it. The history of Honduras is a struggle for its people. The authors, who are unknown,
wrote Republic of Honduras. Background Notes on Countries of the World 2003, stated that,
Columbus landed at mainland Honduras (Trujillo) in 1502. He named it Honduras (meaning depths )
for the deep water off the coast. Spaniard Hernan Cortes arrived in 1524. The Spanish began founding
settlements along the coast and Honduras came under the control of the Captaincy General of
Guatemala. Independence was given in the year of 1821when they separated from Spain. They soon
joined the coalition of Central American Nations in 1823 called the United Provinces of Central
America or the UPOCA. The United Provinces of Central America did not last long. The countries

Romanticism In The Raft Of The Medusa
Romanticism, like most artistic movements, can best be understood when juxtaposed with history. It
was a time of uprisings and conflicts, of liberal thought and confrontation and the winds of change
swept away everyone and everything, from monarchies and governments to French farmers and salon
owners. A new way of thinking and looking at the world was proposed; the shift revealed itself in the
works of new artistic masters who broke out onto the scene, shocking the critics and the public
(mostly bourgeois, old masters, and nobles) with their new styles that approached art in a way that
challenged all traditions. Such changes can be tracked from the mass of altered techniques and change
of focus, usually very manifest in most paintings, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

provide much food for thought and deep contemplation. If you take a look at several of Friedrich s
works, you ll be able to discover that most of those landscapes include the back(s) of one or several
people, who, like us, are peering over the panorama. The structure allows us to (1) put ourselves into
that person s viewpoint, as if we were on that very site, feeling the winds brushing our faces and

Essay about The Human Right Violations at Abu Ghraib
The Human Right Violations at Abu Ghraib
In 1949, the Geneva Convention Relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War was created to prohibit
immoral, cruel and degrading punishment toward prisoners during wartime. The United States ratified
this covenant and became a member of the Geneva Conventions. During Operation Iraqi Freedom, a
series of human abuses occurred from October through December of 2003 where American military
personnel have conducted acts of brutality and immoral behavior toward Iraqi detainees at the Abu
Ghraib prison. The inhumane interrogation method of the American military have clearly violated
Article 2 and 4 of the Geneva Conventions. Article 2.2 states No exceptional circumstances

The responsibility of this failure is institutional as well as personal at higher levels.
Abu Ghraib and the Root Causes of Abuse
When President Bush declared the War on Terror after the incident of September 11, 2001, he was
declaring a new kind of war on a different kind of enemy. The al Qaeda terrorist group who were
responsible for the destruction of World Trade Center is organized differently than any enemy that the
U.S. has faced before. Since the terrorists were determined to target large numbers of American
civilians, the Bush administration issued a memorandum which declared the Geneva Conventions
cannot apply to unconventional combatants such as al Qaeda, it states I accept the legal conclusion of
the Department of Justice and determine that none of the provisions of Geneva apply to our conflict
with al Qaeda in Afghanistan or elsewhere through the world because; among other reasons al Qaeda
is not a High Contracting Party to Geneva. (Bush 2002)
In 2002, the Office of Legal Counsel responded to the President s request of exploring the question
whether American officials have the right to use torture against suspected terrorists. Assistant Attorney
General Jay S. Bybee of the Office of Legal Counsel not only legalized the use of torture for U.S.
officials but also defined torture in the narrowest way. He defines torture as inflicting physical pain, or
any serious physical injury such as failure of organs or at the most

Jesus And Hahnukkah Research Paper
Jesus and Hanukkah
Yeshua, (Jesus) did not spend a lot of time in Jerusalem. Most of His ministry is recorded to be around
Galilee. He would have made His pilgrimage to Jerusalem on the following appointed feast days:
Pesach or Passover
Shavuot or Pentecost
Yom Kippur or The Day of Atonement
Rosh Hashanah, Yom Teruah or Jewish New Year
The Feast of Trumpets
Sukkot or The Feast of Tabernacles.
He is however found in Jerusalem on the 25th of Kislev. Kislev is the ninth month on the Biblical
calendar and corresponds to November and December on our Gregorian calendar. We are told in John,
that Jesus went into the Temple to join in the celebration of the festival of dedication.
This celebration would have been the festival of lights or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Jews surrounded Him and wanted Him to identify Himself as the Messiah. He more or less told
them that He had already done that, but they did not believe Him anyway.
It was here in Solomon s porch that Jesus had identified Himself as the Light of the World at another
time. Jesus is indeed the Shamash, our servant, the eternal light that sheds light in a world of darkness.
Unfortunately, He was not welcome there in the Temple and they began to stone him for what they
perceived to be blasphemy.
What is the lesson of Hanukkah that we can learn for today? As our world becomes darker and darker,
and the laws of our land have become in direct opposition to the laws of God, we need to guard
against assimilation into this world s system. We like the Maccabee s need to stand up against
unrighteousness, even to the point of losing our lives if necessary.
Even when the odds are against us, if we are on Gods side then we have a majority. The Holy things of
God deserve our allegiance and they are to be protected. No one can plunder your temple and take
from you the treasure that is hidden there. They can take your life, but your light is

Domestic Terrorism Vs International Terrorism
Terrorism is nothing new to the U.S. as terrorists have taken lives inside of the country from the
Oklahoma City bombing and the first attack on World Trade Center in 1993. Even back in the 1970s
the U.S. saw attacks from a group call the Weather Underground. However, the motivation and
reasoning for terror attacks from groups such as the Weather Underground and Al Qaeda are often
quite different and often so is the type of terrorism. Two of the most commonly known types of
terrorism are international terrorism and domestic terrorism. At times, it may be easier to figure out
the group or act that falls as either domestic terrorism or international terrorism. However, not all

Community Development Reflection
I have enjoyed taking this class this semester. Even though I hit a few hiccups along the way I pushed
through. I think it will help in my future endeavor in community development. Many people can
benefit by taking this class and learning more about the health issues within a community. The
information can also be carried on and utilized within many other professions. I have shared many of
my learning experiences from this class with family and friends and have passed on a lot of
knowledge. I honestly feel taking this class in a classroom would have been more educational to me.
The use of visuals and hands on is a way I like to learn and as a result I would have retained and
understood more in this area. Having an experience professional in the career already attending the
class and sharing would have helped me too. Even though I did take this class online and a lot of
topics were covered in a short amount of time a lot of good information was taken in. It does help that
I have experienced on some level of the topics that were presented. There s always room for more
growth while learning more on the topic of health in community development. Things are always
changing, growing, and expanding, including the development of new Technology. I have just started
the beginning of what all it entails. I think it would be helpful to have learned more on the solution to
some of the problems presented. A lot of the topics were interesting to read about, but on some I felt

Approaching the second decade of the 21st century provides a fresh opportunity to think about kinds
of possible management. In this regard, the area of human resource management (HRM) has become
even more important to business, policymaking, and nations, including in the economically dynamic
Asia Pacific region. Most of the Asian economies had rapid growth rates for the past two to three
decades, although uneven from year to year, and were then hit by the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis.
Interestingly, now the very same HRM practices formerly seen as paragons (and taken as best
practices by some), ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, in best practice thinking, a universal prescription is preferred (Boxall Purcell, 2003, p. 61).
One strand in the area is the development of lists of best practices. Among the most famous are those
of Pfeffer (1994, 1998), whose list of 16 (of relevance here included employment security, selectivity
in selection, promotion from within, high pay, incentive pay, wage compression, and training and skill
development), later narrowed to seven (of relevance here were employment security, selective and
sophisticated hiring, high compensation contingent on performance, extensive training and
development, reduction of status differentials, and sharing information self managed
teams/teamworking; see overviews of other lists in Boxall Purcell, 2003; Redman Wilkinson, 2006).
Some take a broad definition that best practices are those that can add value to the business. Others are
more specific and pinpoint certain practices in particular situations. For others, they are those present
in successful and/or high profile companies. Indeed, research on best practices including collective
issues of work organization and employee voice is rare (Boxall Purcell, 2003).
Recent studies (Tables 21.1 sorted by author and 21.2 by practice) typically include comprehensive
employee recruitment procedures, incentive compensation, performance management systems,
extensive employee training, and so

Rebirth Is A Sci Fi Thriller
REBIRTH is a sci fi thriller that offers a visionary and cautionary new world. The script nicely poses
the question about the advancement of technology and medicine. The hero questions the morality of
living life with out defects or the need to procreate. It s a compelling question to examine.
The idea of searching for a new planet has merit. The idea of finding an abandoned spacecraft and
trying to put the pieces together of what happened to the ship also is engaging. There s a ticking clock
tension to get home or to get to the new planet.
The script is driven by the theme of second chances. It also examines the man vs. machine premise.
Ironically, due to social engineering, the humans have become more robot like, suppressing their
emotions, while the android featured in the script, is almost more human than the real humans. It s a
clever contradiction.
While the script has definite strengths, the overall script would benefit from more development to
build upon those strengths.
One area that would benefit from more development is the structure and pace. It s crucial to
immediately engage and grab the audience, especially in the first ten pages. The current first ten pages
of the script feels slow. It introduces the characters, but nothing exciting happens to immediately draw
the audience into the plot. It s not until around pages 16 or 17 that they find the planet and this perks
our interest.
The fire is the major inciting event that traps the crew in a strong dilemma.

Leonardo also used the arts and science hand in hand as was the humanist philosophy. Humanism also
led to Leonardo s study of the human anatomy in order to have a greater understanding of the human

Catholic Church to dissect corpses for his work. He studied nature and anatomy for hours on end to
produce graphic paintings that were used as manuals. Which leads to a second point, Leonardo da
Vinci was a secular person. He was a lefty that at the time was seen as the devil s work and he
continued to use his left hand, even though he became ambidextrous. His peculiar and distinguished
portraits also demonstrate Leonardo s perceptive endeavor towards aesthetics . Though Leonardo s
work is primarily Christian themed or related, he boldly created masterpieces that were pagan or non
religious in nature. This also shows the gradual change of mind of people from the Renaissance from
extremely religious and conservative to slightly more liberal. Leonardo broke free from what was the
standard norm and religious asceticism as was the case with many other artists. He believed in
discovery and that life was worth living now. Leonardo revolutionized styles of painting. He rebelled
against the customary oils and used vibrant colors of tempera to create his masterpieces. He was

Kant s View Of Enlightenment
Kant s general proposed understanding of Enlightenment first originates with the enlightenment of the
individual. Within the first few lines of Kant s essay, what is Enlightenment? , he states the definition
of enlightenment as man s emergence from his self incurred immaturity (Kant 1). Kant first highlights
the problem of immaturity, which he says to be the inability to use one s own understanding, but lack
of resolution and courage to use it without the guidance of another (Kant, 1). Kant most likely sees
this problem of intellectual immaturity as a result of the interference of the church and/or the state in
allowing the free discussion of ideas and challenging of status quo ideas. As a progressive philosopher
in 18th century Prussia, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, a monarch that understands that the more ideas that are expressed in a thoughtful manner, the
more society can become enlightened. As Kant succinctly describes the motto of such a monarch,
Argue as much as you like and about whatever you like, but obey! (Kant, 6). Once the intellectual
freedom is allowed to expand, people are more able to cultivate a mindset of critical thinking and are
therefore freed from the yoke of intellectual immaturity. Since individual enlightenment in some ways
actually depends on public enlightenment, this provides another condition for a fully enlightened
society to exist. While enlightenment should start from one s own process towards enlightenment
regardless of external conditions in the world, the monarch s own enlightenment and the policies he
creates for free thinking would aid in the flourishment of an enlightened society that stems from
people s comfortability to discuss their enlightened ideas in

College-Students Should Step Back From Helicopter-Parents
Why college students should take a step back from their helicopter parents
Stanford University professor Castle deserves support for her statements in her article The case for
breaking up with your parents (The Chronicle Review, May 6, 2012) for various reasons. She claims
that excessive parental engagement in the lives of college students has a negative influence on the
students intellectual and emotional autonomy. The latter can only be attained by detaching themselves
from their parents. Prof. Castle refers to this concept as self orphaning .
In her article, Castle states that each of us at some point need to think about the homes from which we
emerge and what we really think of them (Prof. Castle). Parents often find it self evident that their
college students always make themselves available for them. Moreover, they put their own emotional
needs ahead of the developmental needs of their children. It is only logical they want what is best for
their children, but taking care of everything for them will not have a positive outcome in the long run.

Anti Curfew Law
You can t tame a wild mustang, so why try and control teenager who wants as many freedoms as
possible. Curfews set by the Government may seem like a good idea, but it s not. The idea of laws
enforcing a curfew for teenagers is not a good one, it unfairly takes away a teenagers freedom. If there
is a law about a curfew and a teen does not like it, there is a high chance that they will just stay out
past curfew. Curfew in a household is specified by the parents. If the parents and child both state their
case on a time, and agree on it, the child will keep their word. If there is a law enforcing a curfew,
there will not always be a way for teens to try and negotiate a fair time, like they could if their parents

Also, with that law, parents will probably follow the time of that law. This means that teens cannot try
and negotiate a time that is fair. If a teen believes that the curfew time is not fair and wants hangout
with friends or go to a party, they will most likely sneak out. The point of the curfew is to keep people
safe and make sure they do not get in trouble, but if a teenager is going to sneak out anyway, what s
the point. A curfew law is a good idea on paper for parents who worry about there children, but there
is no true way to make sure they are safe without taking away there freedoms, and that is what a
Government forced curfew would do. Not all teenagers are bad and stay out past curfew just to party
and hangout with friends, sometimes teens need to stay out late. High school students have extra

Shiloh, By Bobbie Ann Mason
Shiloh , by Bobbie Ann Mason, explores an interesting theme, the distinct parallel between the surface
level of what the events of the story are, and the meaning underneath. This parallel is seen throughout
the story, from the start when Leroy Moffitt is building craft kits for at first just to pass time, while
Norma Jean is lifting weights and working at a Rexall drugstore for the same reason; To later on when
Norma says she doesn t know what she s talking about and Leroy thinks that the way to saving his
marriage is to come up with a last minute idea. The story engages the theme of the parallel levels
through the unstable marriage of Leroy and Norma Jean. The theme of this parallel is shown overtly
through the images, descriptions, and characterizations of the log cabins in the story, and of Shiloh.
Interestingly, the characters and the world they live in are stuck on the surface, shown through how
both Leroy and Norma Jean drift on subjects, and through the names in the story.
Norma Jean and Leroy s marriage shows an insight on the theme in action because of how their lack
of understanding the inner workings of marriage, which causes them to drift apart and eventually
separate. One of the most important things in marriage is the ability to communicate, but neither of
them are able to do so on a meaningful level. An example of this is when Norma Jean starts to explain
why she wants to leave him, then as she walks away she takes back what she said, adding No, it

I have read about how immigrants struggle to get their education in the United States because of lack
of well qualified ESL teachers, limited resources in schools for immigrants etc. The education system
has been very unfair for the immigrants because very little things are done to help them be more
successful in getting their education. In an article published in Harvard University journal a researcher
says, Even though one out of every four children in the United States is an immigrant or the U.S. born
child of immigrants, many schools are ill equipped to meet their needs, which shows how the
education system has not been fair for the immigrants (Tamer). As we all know there are lots of
immigrants in United States and I think that the education system in United States should be changed
in such a way that it suits everyone including the immigrants. In the same article Tamer says, Even
though one out of every four children in the United States is an immigrant or the U.S. born child of
immigrants, many schools are ill equipped to meet their needs , which shows more importance of
schools and programs to help the immigrants in the United States.

Case Study Of 5S Kayazten Total Quality Management
5S KAIZEN TQM failure reasons are a considerable issue and have to be studied in depth. It has to be
discussed and analyzed among healthcare managers in order to know what to expect but mostly know
what to avoid. A well prepared manager can perform his/her management skills in a better and more
efficient way if he/she knows the most common failure reasons. This study can help healthcare
managers to study each failure reason separately and precede to appropriate actions in order to avoid
possible 5S KAIZEN TQM failure.

Invalid data leads to wrong decision making and wrong solution to problems.
6.2.7. Cost of investment Due to limited resources and budget; healthcare organizations have to
choose the most appropriate way to use them in order to have return. Most of the times, healthcare
organizations prefer to invest on a direct return investment instead of long term return investment.
5S KAIZEN TQM implementation advantage is cost reduction, but most of healthcare managers
prefer instant return of investment. Most of the times information technology or even medical
equipment is the preferred investment option instead of TQM approach.
6.2.8. Management s resistance to empower employees
Due to daily work pressure and high patients demand, management resists taking away employees
from direct care work for training or participating to quality teams. In this case, management prefers
to accomplish short term instead of long term goals. Taking employees away from direct care work
may create new obstacles into daily procedures. Consequently management has to understand that
those obstacles are temporarily regarding TQM s long term

Women s Influence On Women
Women s fashion has been tremendously changing throughout the history. Women belonging from
different ethnic group had different fashion, even the women belonging from same ethnic group
followed different fashion depending on their race, cast, status or religion. Different clothing styles
have impacted the women in different ways; in different eras the character of women has been
determined by their clothing style. Similarly, clothing patterns of women in United States kept
changing throughout the time. Fashion has been reformed throughout the ages. Change in fashion has
reshaped the personalities of women. Particularly in nineteenth century, fashion played a significant
role in enforcing the existing definition of femininity, it had a notable effect on women s health;
however, the reformation of the fashion redefined femininity.
In the early nineteenth century, the prevailing definition of femininity was enforced by the way
women used to dress up. According to Torrens (1999), the ideal characteristics of women were to be
submissive, pious, home oriented, and pure which were restricted by and enforced by different means
of fashion. Women s body became a main point to maintain the ideology of feminism. Cultural
definition of feminism reduced the opportunities for women to work outside the home. The
disturbance in everyday life, which was created when the women used to work in war industry, and
the belief system of United States made the women caretaker of home, since the

1. A big advantage is that the value chain is a very flexible strategy tool for looking at your business,

Comparing Augustine And Boethius In The City Of Ravenna
By the early fourth century, the Roman Empire already had severe economic, political, and social
problems. While Rome declined decades into the fifth centuries, Christianity flourished. It continued
to grow and expand in influence, and would eventually become the religion of those who destroyed
the empire in the West. During that period, in far different places, two writers would live who saw the
decline of the West: Augustine (354 420) in Roman North Africa and Boethius in the city of Ravenna.
Their writings were to have an enormous impact on the culture of Europe. Augustine was one of the
four important Latin fathers of the church, who were also philosophers and theologians and known as
doctors of the church. There is a concept that Augustine introduces and believes in and it si that God

Augustine warns against taking the Bible lieterally if it flies in the face of reason and observation. He
understood why the Bible was written as it was. He rationalized that while the authors knew the truth
about the nature of the skies, but it was not the intention of the Spirit of God, who spoke through
them, to teach men anything that would not be of use to them for their salvation. It must be realized
that the bible was written by humans, and not necessarily a direct quote from God. Boethius similarly
discusses about something that does not necessarily directly relate but does support and explain how
to understand Augustine s words. He asks how one can reconcile human freedom with the notion of an
all knowing God. If God knows what we do before we do it, how can we be said to be free agents who
must accept responsibility for personal acts? The answer is to look at the problem form the point of
view of God, not from the human vantage point. God lives in eternity. Eternity does not mean

focused primarily in The United States. The article was published on January 12, 2005, inspired by the
dramatic increase of tensions between terrorist organizations and The United States. Applebaum
explores three equality titillating concepts within the article. Applebaum s questions the actual
effectiveness of using torture as a means of obtaining valuable information in urgent times.
Applebaum explores the ways in which she feels that the United States torture policy ultimately

I have been unable to deliberate on the appropriate alternative method for this particular dilemma.
When it comes to the topic of torture, the popular attitude is that it is sometimes required. Where this
agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of ethics and efficiency. Whereas some are
convinced that it is an effective policy, others maintain that it is not successful practice. To further
support the stance that the torture policy is not necessary effective, Army Col. Stuart Herrington
inserted, in his experience, nine out of ten people can be persuaded to talk with no stress methods at
all, let alone cruel and unusual ones. Applebaum s second argument for eliminating the torture policy
is that it constantly enables the enemy to build tolerance for the torture. Applebaum uses the example
of radical terrorists are nasty, so to defeat them we have to be nastier. This example clearly illustrates
the fault within the misconception that torture is ultimately effective. There can also be unnoticed and
lasting consequences to torture, that in turn, affect more than the individual country. The global stigma
that is labeled upon any country that participates in or allows the torture of wartime prisoners is
remarkably important. The public and self image that the respective country acquires, affects

We Should Invest Our Tax Dollars Essay
INTRODUCTION
I grew up in South Akron, and graduated from Garfield High school. This high school has meant a lot
to the community and the students that attended it. This is not just a building, but an institution that
has turned out a lot of great minds and professional athletes. Losing the high school in this district
would be devastating. I feel that we should invest our tax dollars in our own city, and worry about the
future of our own child, by keeping Akron schools in the community of Akron.
Purpose
Garfield high along with Kenmore High school have been slotted to be torn down. There are no dates
as of yet to when the projects will start. The removal of these two public two public high schools
would leave the entire southern portion of Akron and nearby Kenmore without a high school in or near
these districts.
Problem
Building the learning site in Kenmore would cause major busing problems. The city already owns the
property of Garfield High school, so why go out and spend money for property, when you have a
property already available? Some people may disagree and say Kenmore is an excellent choice
property wise, and the land is readily available. I feel that we should invest our tax dollars in our own
city, and worry about the future of our own child, by keeping Akron schools in the community of
Akron.
Scope
My proposal for a solution to the problem is to build a new learning center on the site occupied
Garfield High school. This would give the southern portion of

American Born Chinese Identity
All sentient beings have an acquired cultural identity and an innate racial identity; in the state of being
the other in a society that oppresses minorities, one can have a feeling of being displaced and alone,
discouraged and even ashamed. American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang depicts a dissatisfied
American born Chinese tween who tries to grapple with living in a community that is largely not of
his ethnicity. It s easy to become anything you wish . . . so long as you re willing to forfeit your soul,
(Yang 29) says a wise Chinese herbalist s wife at her store calculating bills on an abacus to Jin Wang,
the unknowingly curious American boy who sits with his mother and his toy Transformer. The graphic
novel depicts the tween s clash of emotions and how he wrestles with accepting his Chinese identity,

Some Americans perpetuate derogatory remarks against Asians in general by even grouping Eastern
countries together and simply say, Oh, Chinese and Japanese are the same thing. No more of this! As
human beings, we should have the responsibility to be kind to one another Yang positively reflects just
that concept with placing a set of truly round characters in the story who evoke emotion. That is
needed. As the three excellent and well written sub stories within the novel come to a close, a
simplistic idea sprouts from Yang s writing and can be seen as this: be proud of who you are. Of
course, this may seem to be an easy and basic solution to Jin s issue at hand, but the idea of
individualism and being proud of one s own sense of self could be an issue concerning with the
concept of intersectionality. In Yang s tale, Jin must not only be proud of his Chinese ethnicity, but his

How Power Is Used For Concealing Relations Of Power
Power is usually described as bad and is mostly discussed by others about the abuse of power however
this is not true, power can be used to help or protect individuals, which is exactly what the culture I
had observed does. In this essay, I will examine the performances of power that is observed
throughout the ritual ceremony, chanting in the Buddhism culture, displaying how the religion is used
for concealing relations of power within this definite culture. Through this examination, I will use the
theories of Karl Marx (religion as ideology) and Antonio Gramsci (hegemony being concept of
power), to support the display of how the power distributes religion. By relating to the definition of
power, I argue that, for the members of this community, power is about ease and security no
inequality.
The first observation that I had seen to our visit to the Fo Guang Shan Temple that stood out to me the
most were the Buddha statues. Inside the shrine, in the prayer room, were five large Buddha statues
and each wall in the room was occupied with images of small carved Buddha s; both female and male.
Along the left side of the five Buddha s, was an image of Male Buddha and on the right side was an
image of Female Buddha. I also noticed that people took off their shoes at the door before they
entered. When I entered the prayer room, the first entity I had perceived was that the air was filled

Our Nation s Critical Infrastructure
In the past sixteen years the United States has seen significant changes to the national policies that
protect the population and its critical infrastructure. Two main agencies that arose from the 911
Attacks were the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Homeland Defense
(HLD). These two agencies are responsible for protecting countless potential terrorist targets, millions
of citizens, and the thousands of miles of U.S boarders. How can two government agencies protect so
many assets? This paper will explore the two agencies and identify key roles, responsibilities,
resources, and operations. It will highlight the efforts shared between the two agencies and provide the
authors own definition of the DHS. Lastly, this paper will identify our nation s critical infrastructure
and how it intertwines with the DHS and HLD, by discussing the resources needed to operate
successfully. These two agencies may be separate organizations but they have much more in common
than one might think. Let s begin by looking at the primary mission of each agency. According to
classroom text, The DHS is responsible for preparation of, prevention of, deterrence of, preemption of,
defense against, and response to threats and aggression directed towards U.S. territory, sovereignty,

represented as a layered architecture as shown in Fig. The operating system runs above the hardware,
and the application software runs above the operating system. The same architecture is applicable to
any computer including a desktop computer. However, there are significant differences. It is not
compulsory to have an operating system in every embedded system. For small appliances such as

The Causes Of Witchcraft
The human mind has always tried to grapple with inconsistencies, misfortunes, and differences.
Without true success, humans have pinpointed possible influences and causes of misfortunes or
tragedies within their communities. For many people in the 1600 s, witchcraft was a possible answer
to a lack of success in pinpointing the cause of tragedies. Gossip was the the primary root in all such
instances of witchcraft, weaving stories and accusations in private. These accusations of witchcraft did
not end in the 17th century, but now hide under pseudonyms such as different or outsider in this day
and age. The Lisbon sisters and Janie from The Virgin Suicides and Their Eyes Were Watching God,
respectively, are modern day examples of how gossip can catalyze witch hunts to persecute and incite
violence upon women who differ from the status quo. Janie and the Lisbon sisters possess many
characteristics often attributed to witches: sexual deviance, religious discord, and they are each
outsiders in their community. Witch craft is heavily influenced by rumor and gossip in the sense that
witchcraft would not exist without rumor and gossip to be fear leaders in witch hunts. The fear that
gossip and rumor bring about in a community often snowballs into acts of irrevocable violence and
sometimes death, as is the case in The Virgin Suicides. Women have always been the targets of witch
hunts for two main reasons: one being that men were perceived as stronger than women, and
therefore,

Cogniative Biases And Donald Trump s Effect On The Media
Out of the 11 Cogniative Biases, the 4 that have impacted my life the most through experiences are
Priming Theory, Contrast Principle, Status Quo Bias, and the Loss Aversion Bias. The Priming Theory
nearly effects everything we do, whether it s listening to music, or watching TV. We are Primed
everyday, and one of the most common ways is through watching the news. During the last election, it
s safe to say even when you re not watching the news daily, we still heard new stories every day about
the canidates. As a democrat, I naturally was not Donald Trumps biggest fan. I find that the Priming
Theory plays a bigger role in who we vote for in elections than I initially thought. We do not have to
watch the daily news on TV, or read the newspaper any more to learn about news. News is all around
us, but the number one source where I read my news is on my phone. I spend a decent amount of time
on my phone and I come across alot of News Articles, when Donald Trump is in the headline I can
usually predict it s something I ll find entertaining or infruiating to read, so 99% of the time I will

subconciously Primes me to not like Donald Trump more through each article I read, because they are
mostly based about the negative things he has done. The Contrast Principle Theory has affected my

Same sex marriage is marriage between two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance,
Emperor Nero is reported to have engaged in a marriage ceremony with one of his male slaves.
Emperor Elagabalus married a Carian slave named Hierocles.
It should be noted, however, that conubium existed only between a civis Romanus and a civis Romana
(that is, between a male Roman citizen and a female Roman citizen), so that a so called marriage
between two Roman males (or with a slave) would have no legal standing in Roman law (apart,
presumably, from the arbitrary will of the emperor in the two aforementioned cases). Furthermore,
matrimonium is an institution involving a mother, mater.
The idea implicit in the word is that a man takes a woman in marriage, in matrimonium ducere, so that
he may have children by her. Still, the lack of legal validity notwithstanding, there is a consensus
among modern historians that same sex relationships existed in ancient Rome, but the exact frequency
and nature of same sex unions during that period is obscure.
In 342 AD Christian emperors Constantius II and Constans issued a law in the Theodosian Code (C.
Th. 9.7.3) prohibiting same sex marriage in Rome and ordering execution for those so married.
The first documented same sex marriage was between the two men Pedro Díaz and Muño Vandilaz, in
the Galician municipality of Rairiz de Veiga in Spain, on April 16, 1061. They were

The Cold War ( 1945-1989 )
The Cold War (1945 1989) was essentially a period in which fear ran rampant. Everyone in America,
from the young children to the President, was afraid. People were afraid because they believed their
freedom and security was being threatened by communist spies. They were afraid that communism
would take over the world and wipe out democracy. They were afraid that a nuclear attack would
occur and render them and the American economy helpless. In the midst of all their fear, President
Dwight D. Eisenhower was elected and managed to allay their fears by implementing new policies
and expanding FDR s New Deal, which was instrumental in ending the Great Depression. During the
Cold War, people all over the world were in a constant state of fear: ...the world is suffering from a
multiplicity of fears. We fear the men in the Kremlin, we fear what they will do to our friends around
them; we are fearing what unwise investigators will do to us here at home as they try to combat
subversion or bribery or deceit within. We fear depression; we fear the loss of jobs (Document A). In
this document, President Eisenhower, while speaking at a press conference, acknowledges the fears
that are affecting the American people and the people around the world. In doing so, he is showing
that he is aware of the situation that the people are enduring, as well as warning them about the
consequences of acting solely out of fear: All of these, with their impact on the human mind, make us
act almost

Inherent differences between manufacturing supply chains and service supply chains
Abstract
Purpose This paper seeks to review the current literature in order to explore the inherent distinctions
between goods supply chains and service supply chains. Traditional supply chain management models
are not perfectly applicable to those in the service field because of the difference between physical
products and services in their very essence.
Design/methodology/approach An extensive literature review has been undertaken to explore current
understandings of how service supply chains differ from the traditional manufacturing supply chains.
Findings Differences between services and products are taken into consideration when comparing and

Introduction
In recent years, service has become the main driving force of a country s economy growth (Giannakis
2011), either in high income countries or low middle income countries. According to figures from the
World Bank in 2012, the service sector accounts for 70% of GDP worldwide (figure 1). Furthermore,
the forces from government policies, social change, business trends, development in information
technology and internationalization are contributing to the growth of the service markets as well as
solidifying the dominant position of service sector in a country s economy (Baltacioglu et al. 2007).
Despite the increased importance of service, the service sector received less attention from
researchers. This is due to the fact that world economies were built on manufacturing and farming
sectors while the

  • 2. Example Of A Christian Research Paper A Christian is a person who adheres to Christianity, an Abrahamic, monotheistic religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Christian derives from the Koine Greek word Christós, a translation of the Biblical Hebrew term mashiach. There are diverse interpretations of Christianity which sometimes conflict. However, Whatever else they might disagree about, Christians are at least united in believing that Jesus has a unique significance. It is also used as a label to identify people who associate with the cultural aspects of Christianity, irrespective of personal religious beliefs or practices. According to a 2011 Pew Research Center survey, there were 2.2 billion Christians around the world in 2010, up from about 600 million in 1910. According to 100 Years of Nobel Prizes, a review of Nobel prizes awarded between 1901 and 2000 reveals that of Nobel Prizes laureates identified Christianity in its various forms as their religious preference. Etymology The Greek word, meaning follower of Christ , comes from, meaning anointed one , with an adjectival ending borrowed from Latin to denote adhering to, or even belonging to, as in slave ownership. In the Greek Septuagint, christos was used to translate the Hebrew ‫יַח‬ ‫ִׁש‬‫ָמ‬, meaning anointed. In other European languages, equivalent words to Christian are likewise derived from the Greek, such as Chrétien in French and Cristiano in Spanish. He said if he caught me near Katrina, he d flatten me like a pancake (Irving 13). This confirms that Ichabod does not enjoy confrontation at all. It was a time of uprisings and conflicts, of liberal thought and confrontation and the winds of change swept away everyone and everything, from monarchies and governments to French farmers and salon owners. A new way of thinking and looking at the world was proposed; the shift revealed itself in the works of new artistic masters who broke out onto the scene, shocking the critics and the public (mostly bourgeois, old masters, and nobles) with their new styles that approached art in a way that challenged all traditions. Since the terrorists were determined to target large numbers of American civilians, the Bush administration issued a memorandum which declared the Geneva Conventions cannot apply to unconventional combatants such as al Qaeda, it states I accept the legal conclusion of the Department of Justice and determine that none of the provisions of Geneva apply to our conflict with al Qaeda in Afghanistan or elsewhere through the world because; among other reasons al Qaeda is not a High Contracting Party to Geneva. (Bush 2002) In 2002, the Office of Legal Counsel responded to the President s request of exploring the question whether American officials have the right to use torture against suspected terrorists. Assistant Attorney General Jay S. Bybee of the Office of Legal Counsel not only legalized the use of torture for U.S. officials but also defined torture in the narrowest way. I have been unable to deliberate on the appropriate alternative method for this particular dilemma. When it comes to the topic of torture, the popular attitude is that it is sometimes required. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of ethics and efficiency. Whereas some are convinced that it is an effective policy, others maintain that it is not successful practice. To further support the stance that the torture policy is not necessary effective, Army Col. Stuart Herrington inserted, in his experience, nine out of ten people can be persuaded to talk with no stress methods at all, let alone cruel and unusual ones. Applebaum s second argument for eliminating the torture policy is that it constantly enables the enemy to build tolerance for the torture. Applebaum uses the example of radical terrorists are nasty, so to defeat them we have to be nastier. This example clearly illustrates the fault within the misconception that torture is ultimately effective. There can also be unnoticed and lasting consequences to torture, that in turn, affect more than the individual country. The global stigma that is labeled upon any country that participates in or allows the torture of wartime prisoners is remarkably important. • 30. We Should Invest Our Tax Dollars Essay INTRODUCTION I grew up in South Akron, and graduated from Garfield High school. This high school has meant a lot to the community and the students that attended it. This is not just a building, but an institution that has turned out a lot of great minds and professional athletes. Losing the high school in this district would be devastating. I feel that we should invest our tax dollars in our own city, and worry about the future of our own child, by keeping Akron schools in the community of Akron. Purpose Garfield high along with Kenmore High school have been slotted to be torn down. There are no dates as of yet to when the projects will start. The removal of these two public two public high schools would leave the entire southern portion of Akron and nearby Kenmore without a high school in or near these districts. Problem Building the learning site in Kenmore would cause major busing problems. The city already owns the property of Garfield High school, so why go out and spend money for property, when you have a property already available? Some people may disagree and say Kenmore is an excellent choice property wise, and the land is readily available. I feel that we should invest our tax dollars in our own city, and worry about the future of our own child, by keeping Akron schools in the community of Akron. Scope My proposal for a solution to the problem is to build a new learning center on the site occupied Garfield High school. This would give the southern portion of ... It s easy to become anything you wish . . . so long as you re willing to forfeit your soul, (Yang 29) says a wise Chinese herbalist s wife at her store calculating bills on an abacus to Jin Wang, the unknowingly curious American boy who sits with his mother and his toy Transformer. That is needed. As the three excellent and well written sub stories within the novel come to a close, a simplistic idea sprouts from Yang s writing and can be seen as this: be proud of who you are. Of course, this may seem to be an easy and basic solution to Jin s issue at hand, but the idea of individualism and being proud of one s own sense of self could be an issue concerning with the concept of intersectionality. • 33. How Power Is Used For Concealing Relations Of Power Power is usually described as bad and is mostly discussed by others about the abuse of power however this is not true, power can be used to help or protect individuals, which is exactly what the culture I had observed does. In this essay, I will examine the performances of power that is observed throughout the ritual ceremony, chanting in the Buddhism culture, displaying how the religion is used for concealing relations of power within this definite culture. Through this examination, I will use the theories of Karl Marx (religion as ideology) and Antonio Gramsci (hegemony being concept of power), to support the display of how the power distributes religion. By relating to the definition of power, I argue that, for the members of this community, power is about ease and security no inequality. The first observation that I had seen to our visit to the Fo Guang Shan Temple that stood out to me the most were the Buddha statues. Inside the shrine, in the prayer room, were five large Buddha statues and each wall in the room was occupied with images of small carved Buddha s; both female and male. Along the left side of the five Buddha s, was an image of Male Buddha and on the right side was an image of Female Buddha. • 39. The Causes Of Witchcraft The human mind has always tried to grapple with inconsistencies, misfortunes, and differences. Without true success, humans have pinpointed possible influences and causes of misfortunes or tragedies within their communities. For many people in the 1600 s, witchcraft was a possible answer to a lack of success in pinpointing the cause of tragedies. Gossip was the the primary root in all such instances of witchcraft, weaving stories and accusations in private. These accusations of witchcraft did not end in the 17th century, but now hide under pseudonyms such as different or outsider in this day and age. The Lisbon sisters and Janie from The Virgin Suicides and Their Eyes Were Watching God, respectively, are modern day examples of how gossip can catalyze witch hunts to persecute and incite violence upon women who differ from the status quo. Janie and the Lisbon sisters possess many characteristics often attributed to witches: sexual deviance, religious discord, and they are each outsiders in their community. Witch craft is heavily influenced by rumor and gossip in the sense that witchcraft would not exist without rumor and gossip to be fear leaders in witch hunts. The fear that gossip and rumor bring about in a community often snowballs into acts of irrevocable violence and sometimes death, as is the case in The Virgin Suicides. Women have always been the targets of witch hunts for two main reasons: one being that men were perceived as stronger than women, and therefore, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For instance, Emperor Nero is reported to have engaged in a marriage ceremony with one of his male slaves. Emperor Elagabalus married a Carian slave named Hierocles. It should be noted, however, that conubium existed only between a civis Romanus and a civis Romana (that is, between a male Roman citizen and a female Roman citizen), so that a so called marriage between two Roman males (or with a slave) would have no legal standing in Roman law (apart, presumably, from the arbitrary will of the emperor in the two aforementioned cases). Furthermore, matrimonium is an institution involving a mother, mater. The idea implicit in the word is that a man takes a woman in marriage, in matrimonium ducere, so that he may have children by her. Still, the lack of legal validity notwithstanding, there is a consensus among modern historians that same sex relationships existed in ancient Rome, but the exact frequency and nature of same sex unions during that period is obscure. In 342 AD Christian emperors Constantius II and Constans issued a law in the Theodosian Code (C. Th. 9.7.3) prohibiting same sex marriage in Rome and ordering execution for those so married. The first documented same sex marriage was between the two men Pedro Díaz and Muño Vandilaz, in the Galician municipality of Rairiz de Veiga in Spain, on April 16, 1061. They were ... People were afraid because they believed their freedom and security was being threatened by communist spies. They were afraid that communism would take over the world and wipe out democracy. They were afraid that a nuclear attack would occur and render them and the American economy helpless. In the midst of all their fear, President Dwight D. During the Cold War, people all over the world were in a constant state of fear: ...the world is suffering from a multiplicity of fears.
