Homer s View Of The Traditional Greek View On Family
Homer has a strong opinion about the traditional Greek view on family and ancestry. Homer expresses
his disdain with the tendency to prioritize one s own glory over their family. Further, he ridicules the
unnecessarily large role that ancestral tradition plays in day to day life. Through the characters view
on family and ancestry Homer reveals the Greek s viewpoint on the afterlife, death, and the immortal
soul. Homer first portrays his view on ancestral tradition through the exchange between Glaukos and
Diomedes. He then makes his argument for family life through the dialogue between Hektor and
Andromache. Homer ties both ideas together with his revelation about belief in the afterlife. Homer
clearly prefers family and love over ancestral tradition and he makes his argument by embedding his
viewpoint within the dialogues.
Homer believes in the importance of family life and love, specifically the bond between living family
members. This is revealed in the exchange between Hektor and his wife Andromache. Hektor, the hero
of Troy, possesses the inhuman strength to turn the tide of the battle and as the Achaians push forward,
the city of Troy needs Hektor s battle skills. However, Hektor s wife, Andromache, begs her husband
not to enter the fray and advises him to draw your people up by the fig tree, there where the city is
openest to attack, and where the wall may be mounted (6.433 434). While Andromache gives Hektor
sound military advice, her real motivation behind

The Credibility Of Bono In Troy s Rose
In using Bono to back up Rose, why is he credible? Bono is Troy s friend of thirty years who admires
his, honesty, capacity for hard work, and his strength (Act 1, Scene 1, 534). He s known Troy nearly
his whole life and knew when Troy had any sense (Act 2, Scene 1, 561) or when Troy ain t got no
sense (Act 1, Scene 1, 535). Throughout the story Bono acts as a foil to Troy, highlighting character
qualities where Troy falls short. For instance Bono knew the impact cheating on Rose would have in
Troy s life. He, know what Rose means to you, [Troy]... I don t want to see you mess up (Act 2, Scene
1, 561). After Troy cheats on his wife in the climax of the story, which Bono knew would happen,
Troy s life is essentially ruined. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is still a responsible father who has not abandoned his family. How do each of his family members
view him? Starting with Rose, she would definitely view him as a tragic figure. He was a great
husband to her for years, raising the family right and always making smart decisions. Although
eventually he fell short and ended up as a, womanless man (Act 2, Scene 4, 569) when he cheated on
her with Alberta. If it wasn t for this crucial mistake, he would mean much more to her. Rose wasn t
the only one who lost a lot of respect for Troy because of his actions, Bono and Cory did as well.
Bono hated the fact that Troy cheated on Rose but it is unclear whether their social disconnect was
because of this or because Troy got a promotion. According to the story, Troy said Bono, hadn t
stopped by in months (Act 2, Scene 4, 570). In response Bono said; since you got your promotion I
can t keep up with you. Used to see you every day. Now I don t even know what route you working
(Act 2, Scene 4, 570) . Although it is not directly implied, this leads to the idea that Bono is
intentionally missing Troy at work, because he has lost a lot of respect for him for cheating on Rose.
Bono also views him as a tragic figure because he was once someone he looked up to but completely
changed. Lastly, what does Cory think of his father? Not only does Cory see his father as a tragic
figure

Essay On G. I Bill Of Rights
Gonzalez 1 The G.I Bill of Rights As known today, the United States stock market crashed which
made the Great Depression of 1929 1939 the longest economic downfall in history. The veterans were
struggling much more due to the fact that they were away from their families to protect our country.
This meant there wasn t a way for them to gain their earnings. A group of veterans made their way to
protest in Washington D.C in the summer of 1932 to receive their payment of their bonuses for the
days they served. When they did not get it right away, some just decided to go home but most stayed
simply to get what they deserved. Those who stayed were eventually kicked out of town by U.S
troops. Later on when millions of troops returned for World War II, the government saw this as a
second chance to prevent any protesting from happening again (Born of Controversy). This was when
the G.I Bill of Rights rough draft was created by the national commander of 1936, Harry W. Colemery
(Harry). The G.I Bill of Rights was a bill passed for World War II veterans to have the same
opportunities as Americans citizens not in war such as receiving financial support, funds for a higher
education and on the job training. As a result, the American Legion ... Show more content on

privileges and rights to African Americans. Thousands of African Americans begun to stand up for
themselves and their beliefs. When joining the military, African Americans started becoming more
aware of the unequal treatment whites had that they did not. Without the G.I Bill of Rights and the
reinforcements made for it to be as successful as it was, Americans as a whole would not have seen
the unequal rights the same way seen during this time period. Even though racial issues are still going

Essay On Why College Athletes Should Not Be Paid
Paying College Athletes is not a Solution.
To pay, or not to pay? That is the question when discussing the proposal of collegiate athletes earning
a salary for participating in sports programs. Collegiate sports programs thrive throughout the nation.
A forefront in american culture, college sports bring in a multitude of money, attention, and prestige
for the school represented. Crazed fans, proud alumni and every day spectators are entertained each
year by college athletes giving there all in the sport they love. These athletes are not given any money
out of all the money raised and are often seen as used. Despite arguments towards collegiate athlete
salary proposals, payment for playing collegiate sports should not be made a possibility because
earning an education in itself reaps financial benefits, the recognition of the athletic department s roles
displays flaws, and athletes are informed from the beginning what to expect out their scholarship as
well as the system. Though many people find the leeching off of these devoted athletes to be a issue,
paying these athletes is not the a possible solution to the problem.

exceptionally greater amount of pay than that of someone with a High School diploma. This implies
that college in its self can reap financial benefits. Enrolling in a college is for mainly this reason and is

Education and Emerson Essay
1. In this essay, Ralph Waldo Emerson describes his view of an ideal education. What are its defining
characteristics?
I believe his defining characteristics on his view of an ideal education would have to include the
motherly guidance way of education, the teachers working on each student individually and the
teachers inspiring the students to think for themselves by giving them encouragement for their
thoughts.
2. In what ways is Emerson s advice appropriate to a child s first teacher his or her parents?
Some ways Emerson s advice is appropriate to a child s first teacher and his/her parents is the advice
of motherly guidance or a guiding hand. A hand that does not punish harshly, rather a hand that

6. Emerson refers to educating a boy and a man and uses masculine pronouns when referring to
students. As a reader, does this gender bias affect how receptive you are to Emerson s ideas?
It may increase receptivity for me because I am a teenage boy but I m not if it has much of an affect
when compared with girls reading this essay. I m not sure if it matters much.
7. Describe the adult that Emerson imagines would emerge from an education based on the principles
he supports.
Emerson probably would imagine an adult that would emerge from an education based on the
principles he supports would be hungry for the truth, would look towards the future and learning,
would not be afraid to share his ideas but what know for the most part right from wrong, and he would
have enthusiasm associated to learning. This adult be it a girl or boy will be a college of knowledge or
a wealth of knowledge with their own thoughts and opinions.
1. What does Emerson mean when he says, Nature loves analogies, but not repetitions (para.1)?
He means nature loves similarities with distinct differences not the same thing over and over again.
2. Why is the relationship between Genius and Drill, as Emerson explains it, paradoxical (para.3)?
It seems pretty self contradictory but it does shed some light on his idea. The child wants to learn
more and wants to expand his/her previous unheard

Rime Of The Ancient Mariner Quotes Analysis
For my image on Rime of the Ancient Mariner I displayed the key event in the novel of the crew
hanging the albatross around the Mariner s neck. This is a significant event because it symbolizes one
of the key themes in the novel this being taking responsibility for your actions and the idea of free
will. The crew members hung the albatross around the Ancient Mariner s neck to brand him for his
crime and place the guilt on him and him alone. I used the quote, Farewell, farewell! But this I tell to
thee thou wedding Guest! He prayeth well, loveth well both man and bird and beast. He prayeth best,
who lovest best all things both great and small: For the dear God who loveth us he made and loveth

This event is significant because the doctor is trying to see if he is equipped for the darkness he is
going to step into when making his voyage. This foreshadows the theme of the story this being that it s
not about the journey it s about the person you become as a result of it. The maps in Marlow s eyes
show his thirst for adventure or at least what he looked at as a thirst for adventure. By the end of the
book one sees that Marlow is not as much trying to escape the places he knows as much as escape
reality. He reveals in his stories that he is not one to like the conformity of life and ideas that are set in
stone guidelines that people are expected to obey. However throughout the remaining half of the book
you come to realize he is in a constant moral battle with himself. For instance the way he perceives
women as not able to survive on their own but then asking his aunt for the connection to land the job
he had wanted shows the constant battle Marlow is in with what he believes and what he does to
support his belief. I used the quote, For a time I would think i belonged still to a world of
straightforward facts but the feeling would not last long. Something would turn up to scare it away.
This not only shows Marlow s insecurity with himself and his own identity in a large group of people
but also shows

Chili Con Carne Research Paper
Chili con carne or Texas Red chili has been declared the official state dish of Texas. Texans are well
known for their strong opposition to chili made with beans. While some regional varieties of chili
include and even focus on beans, Texas chili is made from stewed meat and chili peppers, giving the
dish its Spanish name, chili con carne (literally: chili peppers with meat).
Chili con carne is said to have been created by immigrants from the Canary Islands as far back as
1723. They incorporated the native peppers, onions, garlic, and spices like oregano to create a dish
similar to one from their homeland, where a similar chili pepper grew. The dish evolved when cattle
drivers began to add fresh meat they hunted along the way, which was anything

My Observation Of A Nurturing Parenting Class
The group I observed is a Nurturing Parenting Class which is run by Fairfax County. There are several
classes scheduled to address families with children in different age groups and stages of development,
the class I observed was for families with children aged 5 to 11. There were thirteen parents present
for this closed group event. The Nurturing Parenting Class is held for twelve weeks and this is a
closed group. The meeting is held in a local church, the chairs are set up in a circle to promote group
participation. The classes are held from 5:30 pm to 8:00pm.
In the first class I attended on October 6th, the parents and their children were in separate classes for
the first hour, and then the families had dinner together and the class ended with the families staying
together to practice what they had learned. In the second class I attended on October 13th, the parents
and their children were in separate classes for the duration of the time with the exception of dinner
which the families always come together for. This Nurturing Parenting Class is open to any parents or
guardians of a child or children who are between the ages of 5 and 11, regardless of the parents age,
skill level, religious background, etc. I was put in touch with the Nurturing Parenting facilitator
through my internship supervisor; I was seeking an opportunity to complete one of my learning
activities. I emailed the facilitator and explained the description of my assignment, emphasizing that

New Perspectives to Kincaid s A Small Place
If one wants an interesting but controversial read that is intellectually stimulating, A Small Place is

should analyze the massive effects of British rule on Antigua, her intended audience, and the
childhood she experienced; specifically, the Postcolonial, Reader Response, and Biographical lenses.
The Post Colonial lens analyzes the effects of colonialism, so readers can better understand the
challenges Antiguans face as a consequence of colonial times. Antigua is full of the ancestors of

writes about in ASP. Kincaid seems to have always disliked her british connections, despite her

Protein Essay
Proteins are widely used in the food industry as foaming and emulsifying agents (Wilde et al. 2004).
They stabilize oil in water emulsions by forming an interfacial membrane where the adsorbed proteins
unfold and rearrange their secondary and tertiary structures to expose hydrophobic residues to the
hydrophobic phase (MacRitchie, 1978). Plant proteins are low cost, non toxic, natural, biocompatible,
and biodegradable polymers. In recent years, plant proteins have drawn increasing attention from the
food and pharmaceutical industries as an alternative to animal proteins due to increased consumer
concerns over the safety of animal derived products (e.g., prion diseases) (Liu et al., 2010). Among
plant proteins, soybean proteins are the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among the chemical treatments, pH shifting is a relatively new method that adjusts the pH of a
protein solution to extreme basic or acidic conditions to unfold the protein, followed by changing the
pH back to neutral to refold the protein. This unfolding refolding process has been reported to
effectively modify the protein functional properties (Jiang et al., 2010, Lee et al., 2016). High intensity
ultrasound or power ultrasound refer to sonic waves that are at frequencies higher than sound audible
to the human ear, with sound intensities in the range of 0.1 1 W/cm2 (Feng and Yang, 2011). The
mode of action of ultrasound induced protein structure modification is often attributed to acoustic
cavitation. The physical forces produced by cavitation, such as shear forces produced by micro
streaming and normal impingement from the water jets at the solid liquid interfaces, help to break
down the protein particles or aggregates in dispersions (Lee et al., 2016). Conventional ultrasonic
modification of protein functionality is performed at relatively low cavitation intensities.
Consequently, a relatively long treatment time, i.e. 15 30 min for soy proteins (Hu et al., 2013) is
required to produce meaningful changes in protein structures. There is a

Analysis Of Tickits By Paul Milenski
The short fiction story Tickits, written by Paul Milenski is about Toby Heckler giving tickets to all
those he finds doing wrong especially his mother. How can I help all those around me someone like
Tobey can ask himself? I can shed light to the troubles one may cause others like a superheroes
providing safety to the citizens around them. My cloak and armor is my sharp appearance with not
even a smudge on my pearly white sneakers. There are many imperfections when it comes to people
behavior in a sense to not caring about others.
This story describes Toby as if he was a police officer handing out citations until the reason behind the
citation was written. The tickets consist of a car parking in two parking spots being inconsiderate of
others that may need to park and two elderly women standing in the middle of the sidewalk taking up
the space of others that are walking on the sidewalk. Toby had also written a ticket for a man who was
considering crossing the street when the sign read DON T WALK (Milenski 155). The reason for the
ticket was clearly that the man considers disregarding the sign and walking across the street. The
ticket read ALLMOST WALKD (155). He did this while maintaining a polish appearance especially
when it came to his shoes. He compared himself to patrolman McVee in appearance and even wipe the
smudge of his shoe. Toby carries his job to be very important despite the way others looked or may
treat him.

Analysis Of One Love Under God By H. Norman Wright
Week One Reflection As things in this world seem to go by faster and faster each year; we seldom
take the time to remember why we fell in love with our significant other in the first place. While
reading One Love Under God , by H. Norman Wright, it made me think back to the beginning of my
relationship with my husband. Being a divorced mom of a beautiful daughter I wanted someone that
could love me the way I desired to be loved and cared for. I had never expected to get a divorce from
my first husband, but one to many times of adultery was enough in my books. We had tried and tried
to make things work, but he could not change his ways. I am committed to make this marriage work
not only for our children, but for each other. Wright says, Marriage keeping involves preserving,
caring for, and honoring marriage. This is a commitment to do whatever it takes, not just for our own
marriage, but for others, too (Wright, 2005, p. 15). I desire to be a keeper of marriage, not only mine,
but to also help others who are struggling to find that love they once had. I feel that more people
should help support others in any way they can, including relationships. Marriage is tough and having
a good support system to keep you focused, is important. I can relate to Wright when he states, One
common problem is that so many of us are concerned first with our own personal happiness and self
fulfillment in marriage and then with the happiness of our spouses (p. 21). In my own

The Endocrine System And The Nervous System
The endocrine system and the nervous system are essential organ systems in the human body. Both of
the systems have a critical role of transmitting information as well as promoting regulated functions in
the body. The endocrine system is responsible for secreting hormones to regulate the body s organs
and cells. The nervous system is accountable for sending signals to other cells in the body to allow the
body to react such as making the muscles move (eNotes, 18 September 2012). An example of the
endocrine system would be the process of growth and development. An example of the nervous
system would be if one was to touch a hot stove, they would pull back their hand and the nerves in the
body would send pain signals to the brain. This essay will discuss the similarities and differences of
the endocrine system and the nervous system for healthcare providers. ... Show more content on

The endocrine system glands produce hormones in the body to allow the body to regulate many

The nervous system is made of two systems which consist of the central nervous system and the

This job gave Snowden a top secret clearance and greater access to surveillance secrets than he
previously had working for the CIA. Like his reaction in the CIA, Snowden seemed even more

The Family Law Act 1975 ( Cth )
The Family Court is a superior court which was first established in 1975 under the Family Law Act
1975 (Cth). This Act, as amended by the Family Law Reform Act 1995 (Cth) and the Family Law
Amendment (Shared Parental Responsibility) Act 2006 (Cth), states that all children have a right to
know, be cared for, and have regular contact with both parents and other significant people. This is of
course if it would be contrary to the child s best interests.
The Family Court ensures that each case and judgement concerning marriage/relationship breakdowns

depending on the situation of each individual case, what the court believes to be relevant will also be

International laws often play a large role in the development of laws and legislation of the Australia
Legal System. An example of this is the United Nation s Convention of the Rights of the Child,
otherwise known as CROC . This has been endorsed by Australian Family Law and has become the
basis to which the best interests of the child were formed.
In the case of Bruce and Douglas [2014] FamCA80, proceedings relate to parenting arrangements for
the child L Douglas, between the applicant Ms Bruce, who is the child s mother, and the respondent
Mr Douglas, who is the child s father. The child, aged two and a half years at the time of the hearing,
has lived with her mother since her birth in April 2011, and has spent very limited time with her father.

Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are currently diagnosed and treatment plan is formulated by
using digital subtraction angiography (DSA) (Machet, Portefaix, Kadziolka, Robin, Lanoix Pierot,
2012). There are some drawbacks to DSA, amongst them is the cost, patient discomfort, contrast
injection and radiation exposure (Dautry, Edjlali, Roca, Rabrait, Wu, Johnson, Wieben, Trystram,
Rodriguez Regent, Alshareef, Turski, Meder, Naggara Oppenheim, 2015). While DSA is considered to
be the Gold Standard of care for AVMs there are studies underway to determine if brain MRA studies

the average nidus size was 5.3cm in their research (2013). The researches also make note that of the
29 combined studies on their 6 patients 13 out of the 14 image sequences showed early filling into the
nidus (Nogueira, Bayrlee, Hirsch, et al., 2013). In the TRICKS research the authors make no reference
to the size of the nidus detected by TRICKS only that there were 22 cAVMS and that 2 of those were
infratentorial (Dautry, Edjlali, Roca, et al., 2015). It is noted however, that DSA showed 22cAVMS
whose size ranged from 5mm to 45mm (Dautry, Edjlali, Roca, et al., 2015).
Feeding/Draining Vessels
When it came to the delineation of feeding vessels both 7T studies and DSA had an excellent score of
4.81 while once again 1.5T had the lowest score coming in at 4.17 (Wrede, Dammann, Johst, et al.,
2016). When it came to scoring the sequences for venous drainage 7T TOF and DSA scored the
highest; 7T TOF came in at 4.62 and DSA came in a bit higher at 4.72; while 7T MPRAGE came in a
bit lower at 3.92 and 1.5 T once again came in with the lowest score at 3.52 (Wrede, Dammann, Johst,
et al., 2016). Machet, Portefaix, Kadziolka, et al. noted that when it came to detecting the origin of
arterial feeders this could not be accomplished since injecting the four supra aortic vessels one by one
was not feasible, however according to the researchers TR CE MRA was able to detect a few flow
related aneurysm or distant aneurysms as shown on DSA (2016). Dautry, Edjlali, Roca, et al.

Essay on The Effects that Culture Has on Others
The Effects that Culture Has on Others
Through my years of growing up I have moved a lot and never realized I was exposed to so much
culture until I reached my high school years at Linden. I find that in my adolescence years I was
brought to accept other people for their skin color, religion, and their different opinion on things.
Moving to Linden, I was the one of a few students who seemed to really know about different cultures
and was able to embrace them. I saw how I was different compared to the students and quickly
learned, its hard to see people not understand or embrace other cultures besides their own; when that
was the way I was raised.
I began my life at Linden High when I moved to Linden from Dearborn. Dearborn, ... Show more

It is hard levels to deal with, to grasp their new concepts, to believe in what they say when you grew

This was a new way of life almost the All American White World with no differences or diversity. It s
strange to know so much more of the outside world having various multicultred friends, I almost felt
ahead in knowledge. Though, in fact I was a bit more of a minority here. I wasn t the only one though.
I became best friends with Amanda who was also a new student who just the same as me didn t
understand this new nondiverse world. We found that we had many things in common that weren t
common in Linden, but in the vast multicultural world around Detroit. I had her and she had me, and
we both thought how weird it was to be friends with people who looked and acted like us, but did not
understand of how much more we knew and they had no clue. Meaning in these terms how they know
of some sports, music, but didn t know of culture issues of Hispanics, Arabians, African American,
others and some had never even experienced gay people. Our surrounding of people looked the same,
but did not know concepts of accepting ideas of skin tone, language, or racial stereotypes.
The toughest thing to realize in Linden, is for how smart these people are, they have had no true grasp
on real outside world bases. Their knowledge seem to lesson because of how they acted towards other

Commentary on Lorna Sage, Bad Blood (2000)
This passage revolves around a young girl s life, how it has changed and what it has become. It is
ironically, how a friendship has evolved into something that the two girls who are exposed in this
passage have never thought it would become. Sage introduces us to what we can conclude to be
herself in the first paragraph of this passage, whilst introducing us to her dear friend (or shall we say
greatest enemy?) in the second paragraph.
The relationship between Gail and the narrator is one of typical young girl s relationships with another
girl. Sage develops the relationship between these two young girls from two very contradicting ways;
Hate to Love. As the narrator mentions; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
...holding hands painfully, giggling together hysterically...
If this was read about a guy and a girl, the reader would quite quickly come to the conclusion of a
special kind of relationship being introduced, but this one friendship isn t like this. This friendship is
consistent of the truth and of the honestly and loyalty towards the other. That is what the holding
hands painfully can be referring to.
The girls do not want to let go of this friendship, they ve been through a lot and they are not willing to
let something come in and take that away from them...but, also, does that imply on anything?
...days of our adolescent intimacy...
In which point of view can we take this quote? Doesn t this usually imply on a strong relationship
between two people? One that consists of love, warmth and of for sure intimacy ? You can t go around
now and hear a girl saying that she has had days of adolescent intimacy with another girl without
thinking that something isn t right...right? And, adolescences is a period of time when two people
should come together and figure out the feelings they have towards each other...to figure out why it is
really classified as intimate and not something different, something filled with a little bit less of love.
The word hell , what does that imply to? Pain? Ache? Struggle? Or all three? The first passage, or to
be more specific, the first

Bowlby s Theory Of Attachment
Perhaps the most influential explanation of attachment was presented by John Bowlby who began
developing his ideas in the 1940s. Bowlby was commissioned by the World Health Organisation to
investigate whether young children were likely to be harmed if they are separated from their mothers
in the early years. (Hayes, 1996). Bowlby (1951) reported that infants possesses an innate need to
attach to one main attachment figure (this was usually the mother). According to Hayes (1996), this is
a special relationship which is qualitatively different from the relationship they form with any other
kind of person. He described this as the process of monotropy; however, Bowlby did not deny that
babies formed lots of attachments. (Bailey et al. 2008). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Evidence of this came from his study of forty four juvenile delinquents. (Hayes, 1996). His findings
from this study proved that there is a correlation between maternal deprivation in babies and
subsequent criminal behaviour in adulthood. Bowlby has been criticised by other academics. Michael
Rutter (1981) argues that these problems are not due solely to the lack of attachment to a mother
figure, as Bowlby claimed, but to factors such as the lack of intellectual stimulation and social
experiences which attachments normally provide. (McLeod, 2007). Rutter (1970) in another study of a
group of delinquents in the Isle of Wight found no connection between delinquent behaviour and
separation from the mother. According to Buchannan (2013), Many feminists have taken issue with
attachment theory, describing the attachment field s prescriptive mothering role as unreasonable, the
emphasis on mothering as politically motivated and the rational for focusing on mothering in isolation
from context as patriarchal (Contratto, 2002; Morris, 2008).
Rudolph Schaffer and Peggy Emerson (1964) also formulated a theory of attachment based on their
longitudinal study of 60 babies in Glasgow looking at the gradual development of attachments; they
visited them monthly for the first year of their lives and returned again at 18 months. (Bailey et al.
2008). Similar to Bowlby s research, Schaffer and Emerson also formulated four key stages of
attachment and produced

Ordinary People written by Judith Guest is a story about a typical American family. The book
examines how a family reacts to the adversity of losing a member. The book begins just over a year
since the Jarrett family lost Buck, their teenage son.
After reading the DSM 5 is was clear to me that Conrad was suffering from persistent depressive
disorder. In order to be diagnosed with PDD you must have a depressed mood for most of the day,
which in children and adolescents lasts for a year. Conrad s problems have been going on for just over
a year, as his brother died in early summer and the book takes place the next fall. His depressed mood
is apparent from the very start of the book, as he mentions not having ... Show more content on

First, is the Diathesis and Stress model, which proposes that depression, results from the interaction of
personal vulnerabilities and stressful events or circumstances. Therefore, if Conrad was susceptible
either due to genetics or temperament his brother s death could have been the stressor that resulted in
his depression. Although we are only given a little information on what Conrad was like before the
death of his brother, this is definitely plausible. Another factor is that research indicates that families
of depressed children are characterized by problems with attachment, communication, conflict,
cohesions, and support, as well as poor child rearing practices. It is clear that the Jarrett family has its
fair share of family problems. The first is a problem that due to his mother s love for Buck, Conrad
feels that their relationship does not measure up. Therefore, there is most likely some attachment
issues within the relationship. Lastly, there is certainly a lack of communication within the house.
Nothing is talked about because there is a belief that they don t have any problems.
The article Child and Adolescent Depression in the Family examined the positive effects that family
therapy can have on a child suffering from depression. The research found that all the studies
involving a family focused treatment was effective at decreasing youth depression. I think that this
would be especially important for the

Phantom Limb Syndrome
Phantom limb syndrome is an extraordinary condition that is caused by amputating a limb or being
born without a limb (Flor, 2002); This condition affects approximately 80% to 90% of patients who
have had a limb amputated (Flor, 2002). The first documented case of phantom limb syndrome was in
the mid 16th century (Nikolajsen Jensen, 2001). The description was given by a French military
surgeon by the name of Ambroise Paré (1510 1590) when he noticed that some of his injured patients
would express that they were experiencing extreme pain in their missing limb (Nikolajsen Jensen,
2001). He studied and wrote down the characterizations of this post amputation state and attempted to
create different models to explain how the phantom pain was ... Show more content on

Phantom limb syndrome and post amputation pain is far more common in adults than in children, this
would be related to the brains rate or ability to regenerate. A child brain is going to repair much
quicker than an adult, as their brains are still in rapid development (Scheinberg, 2016). Other factors
can play a part and may increase the chances of a patient experiencing this condition, and some of
them include: preamputation pain in the limb that was amputated, a blood clot that formed in the
amputated limb, a preamputation infection, previous damage to spinal cord or peripheral nerves that
supplied the affected limb, traumatic amputation, and the type of anaesthesia that was used during the
operation (Scheinberg, 2016). Nikolajsen and Jensen (2001) state that in paediatric amputees, it was
found that most of the children who were experiencing phantom pain, also expressed feeling pain
before the operation. The symptoms that occur in amputees/people born without a limb can differ
slightly, but all the symptoms are experiences in a limb that no longer exist (Scheinberg, 2016). The
symptoms of phantom limb syndrome include; shooting, stabbing, and piercing sensations, pleasure,
one may feel the sensation of clothing or jewelry touching the missing limb, other experience their
limb feeling as though it is still attached and functioning normally, and lastly patients can experience
sensations of numbness, tickling, or even a cramping sensation (Scheinberg,

Comparison Of King Arthur And The Knights Of The Round Table
King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table: An Epic Hero for Modern Times
In about 1470, Thomas Malory finished Morte d Arthur, the first of the many legends written about
King Arthur. Even in modern times, King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table are a favorite
subject in movies, books, and plays. Often times this is so because the Medieval Period in general, and
King
Arthur in particular, have an air of mystery, romance, fantasy, and adventure that are popular themes
in all times and cultures. I compared Malory s Morte d
Arthur with Camelot, a movie produced in 1967 that stars Richard Harris as King
Arthur and Vanessa Redgrave as Guenevere.
Camelot covers the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
. . quot; In Camelot, Mordred is Arthur s illegitimate son, although he keeps this a secret. This
possibly explains the contradiction of Mordred s position in the two pieces. Another difference in the
two works was that in
Camelot, Mordred tells Arthur, quot;I despise the sword, loathe the spear, and I detest horses. quot; Yet
in Morte d Arthur Mordred and Arthur fight and before
Arthur kills him, Mordred wounds Arthur badly. In Malory s work, I got the feeling that Mordred was
a big, burly, knight that loved a good fight. Yet in
Camelot, Mordred is a devilish looking, puny, scheming, young man who turns down Arthur s offer of
knighthood because he s just not quot;that type. quot; Mordred turns the knights against each other
which destroys the Round Table and brings
King Arthur s entire world crashing down around his ears.
The mood and tone of Camelot and Morte d Arthur are very different in most parts. The majority of
Camelot is cheerful, bright, and hopeful as Arthur creates a new society of quot;might for right. quot;
Only towards the end of the movie when the viewer is overcome with a sense of sadness and
impending catastrophe does the mood change to one of fatalistic tragedy. One cannot help but wonder
about the part that fate played in the society where the legends of King Arthur were created. Like
Romeo and Juliet, written about 120 years after Morte d
Arthur, which is filled with

Intersection of Law and Ethics in Hong Kong
Intersection of Law and Ethics : Immigration Law, Right of abode in HKSAR
Introduction
This paper is to investigate the case of recent action taken by the Hong Kong Government to suspend
new bookings of obstetric service from non local pregnant women in public hospital, especially to
those mainland women, in order to protect right of Hong Kong women. The sudden cut affects a group
of mainland women with spouse as Hong Kong permanent residents and they complain the injustice
phenomenon, that arise ethical dilemma to discuss which is the aim of this paper.

Despite various ethical problems arise, the Government has put its society interest, the value of society
economy, to the highest priority.
According to the Census and Statistics department, the cross border marriage between HK men and
mainland women was several times of increase since 2001 to 2006 . Although no direct relationship,
but it is likely that the cross border birth is in a trend of increase, too. Sadly that the Government has
ignored these families. First of all, as in the mainland maternity case in the Court mentioned above,
the HK father has to pay non local fee for his wife s obstetric services in a HK public hospital, and
then the right of abode of his babies will be deprived under the recent rule enforced. The justice issue
is not only a comparison among these families and those purely HK parents , but also appear on those
HK mothers and non local fathers, who are not under the exclusion blanket of obstetric services, too.
So both are mixed families but why the latter families enjoy the right while the former are deprived?
If Ethics defines what is good for individual and society, and being justice is the concept of moral
rightness of an individual , then it is unethical to be injustice and depriving one s rights. In this case,
the HK Government is applying tighter rules on mainland mothers , at the same time restricting those
cross border families and also ignoring the justice in

Arguments Against Internet Censorship
The internet is the most important platform for ideas and thoughts to grow and spread, making it
substantial. It’s important to keep it free and open for anyone without having to worry about being
prioritized or shut out completely. The FCC has overstepped and has made it seem like safety is their
main objective with the new ruling, but in reality its for control and sides with big businesses over the
rest of society. The government should not interfere with the internet anymore then they are now,

troubling and discriminating. The government already filters data available to students, making for a
safe environment for students online. The Children’s Internet Protection Act was put in place in
2000, it specifically requires schools and libraries to block or filter Internet access to pictures and
material that are “obscene, child pornography, or harmful to minors” on computers that are used
by students under 17 years of age. However, there has already been issues with this government
interference, in 2011 it came to light that items related to LGBT issues and support groups for LGBT
youth were being blocked by the filtering software. The ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union)
discovered from students that these websites were being blocked routinely, along with LGBT anti

The Causes Of Fanaticism In The Salem Witch Trials
The most important reason was the ergot, which was a parasitic fungus that poisoned people through
rye bread. This caused caused symptoms that were very similar to the symptoms blamed on
witchcraft, leading adding credibility to this reason. Additionally, this reason is the most logical and
scientifically sound reason out of all of these documents, since it relied on biology. The second most
important reason was probably the fanaticism that caused everyone to blame Satan for the witchcraft,
which stopped people from looking for other reasons which may have caused the witchcraft. This
fanaticism stopped people from looking at other causes of the symptoms, and they didn t bother to use
a scientific or logical perspective because they were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is a known fact that ergot fungus causes people to hallucinate. This is seen in Document H, which
states, (Ergot) has 10 percent of the activity of LSD, (and) is also found in morning glory seeds, the
ritual hallucinogenic drug used by the Aztecs (Caporael 1). Because of its hallucinogenic properties,
the ergot probably caused many of the supposed apparitions that many people saw, such as Ann
Putnam, Jr, in Document G. Additionally, there was a drought in 1692 which killed the rye that the
ergot fungus grew on, and the Salem Witch hysteria also stopped the next year (Caporael 1). This
means that rye, which the ergot fungus grew on, definitely had a factor in the Salem Witch Trials. The
ergot fungus was also observed to affect more females than males (Caporael 1). This would explain
why there were so many more women became accusers than men, as seen in Document C. This shows
a direct correlation between the ergot fungus and the people who were affected by witchcraft
symptoms, which adds further credibility to how the ergot fungus caused the Salem Witch hysteria in
1692. The fanaticism over Satan causing witchcraft was also another factor that caused the Salem
Witch hysteria in 1692. Because the ergot fungus caused hallucinations and symptoms that people
usually associated with witchcraft, it was probably easier to blame Satan than to look for another
reason that could be more reasonable.

  • 2. Homer s View Of The Traditional Greek View On Family Homer has a strong opinion about the traditional Greek view on family and ancestry. Homer expresses his disdain with the tendency to prioritize one s own glory over their family. Further, he ridicules the unnecessarily large role that ancestral tradition plays in day to day life. Through the characters view on family and ancestry Homer reveals the Greek s viewpoint on the afterlife, death, and the immortal soul. Homer first portrays his view on ancestral tradition through the exchange between Glaukos and Diomedes. He then makes his argument for family life through the dialogue between Hektor and Andromache. Homer ties both ideas together with his revelation about belief in the afterlife. Homer clearly prefers family and love over ancestral tradition and he makes his argument by embedding his viewpoint within the dialogues. Homer believes in the importance of family life and love, specifically the bond between living family members. This is revealed in the exchange between Hektor and his wife Andromache. Hektor, the hero of Troy, possesses the inhuman strength to turn the tide of the battle and as the Achaians push forward, the city of Troy needs Hektor s battle skills. However, Hektor s wife, Andromache, begs her husband not to enter the fray and advises him to draw your people up by the fig tree, there where the city is openest to attack, and where the wall may be mounted (6.433 434). While Andromache gives Hektor sound military advice, her real motivation behind ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Credibility Of Bono In Troy s Rose In using Bono to back up Rose, why is he credible? Bono is Troy s friend of thirty years who admires his, honesty, capacity for hard work, and his strength (Act 1, Scene 1, 534). He s known Troy nearly his whole life and knew when Troy had any sense (Act 2, Scene 1, 561) or when Troy ain t got no sense (Act 1, Scene 1, 535). Throughout the story Bono acts as a foil to Troy, highlighting character qualities where Troy falls short. For instance Bono knew the impact cheating on Rose would have in Troy s life. He, know what Rose means to you, [Troy]... I don t want to see you mess up (Act 2, Scene 1, 561). After Troy cheats on his wife in the climax of the story, which Bono knew would happen, Troy s life is essentially ruined. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He is still a responsible father who has not abandoned his family. How do each of his family members view him? Starting with Rose, she would definitely view him as a tragic figure. He was a great husband to her for years, raising the family right and always making smart decisions. Although eventually he fell short and ended up as a, womanless man (Act 2, Scene 4, 569) when he cheated on her with Alberta. If it wasn t for this crucial mistake, he would mean much more to her. Rose wasn t the only one who lost a lot of respect for Troy because of his actions, Bono and Cory did as well. Bono hated the fact that Troy cheated on Rose but it is unclear whether their social disconnect was because of this or because Troy got a promotion. According to the story, Troy said Bono, hadn t stopped by in months (Act 2, Scene 4, 570). In response Bono said; since you got your promotion I can t keep up with you. Used to see you every day. Now I don t even know what route you working (Act 2, Scene 4, 570) . Although it is not directly implied, this leads to the idea that Bono is intentionally missing Troy at work, because he has lost a lot of respect for him for cheating on Rose. Bono also views him as a tragic figure because he was once someone he looked up to but completely changed. Lastly, what does Cory think of his father? Not only does Cory see his father as a tragic figure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay On G. I Bill Of Rights Gonzalez 1 The G.I Bill of Rights As known today, the United States stock market crashed which made the Great Depression of 1929 1939 the longest economic downfall in history. The veterans were struggling much more due to the fact that they were away from their families to protect our country. This meant there wasn t a way for them to gain their earnings. A group of veterans made their way to protest in Washington D.C in the summer of 1932 to receive their payment of their bonuses for the days they served. When they did not get it right away, some just decided to go home but most stayed simply to get what they deserved. Those who stayed were eventually kicked out of town by U.S troops. Later on when millions of troops returned for World War II, the government saw this as a second chance to prevent any protesting from happening again (Born of Controversy). This was when the G.I Bill of Rights rough draft was created by the national commander of 1936, Harry W. Colemery (Harry). The G.I Bill of Rights was a bill passed for World War II veterans to have the same opportunities as Americans citizens not in war such as receiving financial support, funds for a higher education and on the job training. As a result, the American Legion ... Thousands of African Americans begun to stand up for themselves and their beliefs. When joining the military, African Americans started becoming more aware of the unequal treatment whites had that they did not. Without the G.I Bill of Rights and the reinforcements made for it to be as successful as it was, Americans as a whole would not have seen the unequal rights the same way seen during this time period. • 5. Essay On Why College Athletes Should Not Be Paid Paying College Athletes is not a Solution. To pay, or not to pay? That is the question when discussing the proposal of collegiate athletes earning a salary for participating in sports programs. Collegiate sports programs thrive throughout the nation. A forefront in american culture, college sports bring in a multitude of money, attention, and prestige for the school represented. Crazed fans, proud alumni and every day spectators are entertained each year by college athletes giving there all in the sport they love. These athletes are not given any money out of all the money raised and are often seen as used. Despite arguments towards collegiate athlete salary proposals, payment for playing collegiate sports should not be made a possibility because earning an education in itself reaps financial benefits, the recognition of the athletic department s roles displays flaws, and athletes are informed from the beginning what to expect out their scholarship as well as the system. Though many people find the leeching off of these devoted athletes to be a issue, paying these athletes is not the a possible solution to the problem. The idea of paying players for playing ... • 6. Education and Emerson Essay 1. In this essay, Ralph Waldo Emerson describes his view of an ideal education. What are its defining characteristics? I believe his defining characteristics on his view of an ideal education would have to include the motherly guidance way of education, the teachers working on each student individually and the teachers inspiring the students to think for themselves by giving them encouragement for their thoughts. 2. In what ways is Emerson s advice appropriate to a child s first teacher his or her parents? Some ways Emerson s advice is appropriate to a child s first teacher and his/her parents is the advice of motherly guidance or a guiding hand. A hand that does not punish harshly, rather a hand that encourages a child to do things, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 6. Emerson refers to educating a boy and a man and uses masculine pronouns when referring to students. As a reader, does this gender bias affect how receptive you are to Emerson s ideas? It may increase receptivity for me because I am a teenage boy but I m not if it has much of an affect when compared with girls reading this essay. I m not sure if it matters much. 7. Describe the adult that Emerson imagines would emerge from an education based on the principles he supports. Emerson probably would imagine an adult that would emerge from an education based on the principles he supports would be hungry for the truth, would look towards the future and learning, would not be afraid to share his ideas but what know for the most part right from wrong, and he would have enthusiasm associated to learning. This adult be it a girl or boy will be a college of knowledge or a wealth of knowledge with their own thoughts and opinions. • 7. Rime Of The Ancient Mariner Quotes Analysis For my image on Rime of the Ancient Mariner I displayed the key event in the novel of the crew hanging the albatross around the Mariner s neck. This is a significant event because it symbolizes one of the key themes in the novel this being taking responsibility for your actions and the idea of free will. The crew members hung the albatross around the Ancient Mariner s neck to brand him for his crime and place the guilt on him and him alone. I used the quote, Farewell, farewell! But this I tell to thee thou wedding Guest! He prayeth well, loveth well both man and bird and beast. He prayeth best, who lovest best all things both great and small: For the dear God who loveth us he made and loveth all. This quote shows the idea that by shooting ... This foreshadows the theme of the story this being that it s not about the journey it s about the person you become as a result of it. The maps in Marlow s eyes show his thirst for adventure or at least what he looked at as a thirst for adventure. By the end of the book one sees that Marlow is not as much trying to escape the places he knows as much as escape reality. He reveals in his stories that he is not one to like the conformity of life and ideas that are set in stone guidelines that people are expected to obey. However throughout the remaining half of the book you come to realize he is in a constant moral battle with himself. For instance the way he perceives women as not able to survive on their own but then asking his aunt for the connection to land the job he had wanted shows the constant battle Marlow is in with what he believes and what he does to support his belief. I used the quote, For a time I would think i belonged still to a world of straightforward facts but the feeling would not last long. Something would turn up to scare it away. • 8. Chili Con Carne Research Paper Chili con carne or Texas Red chili has been declared the official state dish of Texas. Texans are well known for their strong opposition to chili made with beans. While some regional varieties of chili include and even focus on beans, Texas chili is made from stewed meat and chili peppers, giving the dish its Spanish name, chili con carne (literally: chili peppers with meat). Chili con carne is said to have been created by immigrants from the Canary Islands as far back as 1723. They incorporated the native peppers, onions, garlic, and spices like oregano to create a dish similar to one from their homeland, where a similar chili pepper grew. The dish evolved when cattle drivers began to add fresh meat they hunted along the way, which was anything ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are several classes scheduled to address families with children in different age groups and stages of development, the class I observed was for families with children aged 5 to 11. There were thirteen parents present for this closed group event. The Nurturing Parenting Class is held for twelve weeks and this is a closed group. The meeting is held in a local church, the chairs are set up in a circle to promote group participation. The classes are held from 5:30 pm to 8:00pm. In the first class I attended on October 6th, the parents and their children were in separate classes for the first hour, and then the families had dinner together and the class ended with the families staying together to practice what they had learned. In the second class I attended on October 13th, the parents and their children were in separate classes for the duration of the time with the exception of dinner which the families always come together for. This Nurturing Parenting Class is open to any parents or guardians of a child or children who are between the ages of 5 and 11, regardless of the parents age, skill level, religious background, etc. I was put in touch with the Nurturing Parenting facilitator through my internship supervisor; I was seeking an opportunity to complete one of my learning activities. They stabilize oil in water emulsions by forming an interfacial membrane where the adsorbed proteins unfold and rearrange their secondary and tertiary structures to expose hydrophobic residues to the hydrophobic phase (MacRitchie, 1978). Plant proteins are low cost, non toxic, natural, biocompatible, and biodegradable polymers. In recent years, plant proteins have drawn increasing attention from the food and pharmaceutical industries as an alternative to animal proteins due to increased consumer concerns over the safety of animal derived products (e.g., prion diseases) (Liu et al., 2010). High intensity ultrasound or power ultrasound refer to sonic waves that are at frequencies higher than sound audible to the human ear, with sound intensities in the range of 0.1 1 W/cm2 (Feng and Yang, 2011). The mode of action of ultrasound induced protein structure modification is often attributed to acoustic cavitation. The physical forces produced by cavitation, such as shear forces produced by micro streaming and normal impingement from the water jets at the solid liquid interfaces, help to break down the protein particles or aggregates in dispersions (Lee et al., 2016). Conventional ultrasonic modification of protein functionality is performed at relatively low cavitation intensities. Norman Wright Week One Reflection As things in this world seem to go by faster and faster each year; we seldom take the time to remember why we fell in love with our significant other in the first place. While reading One Love Under God , by H. Norman Wright, it made me think back to the beginning of my relationship with my husband. Being a divorced mom of a beautiful daughter I wanted someone that could love me the way I desired to be loved and cared for. I had never expected to get a divorce from my first husband, but one to many times of adultery was enough in my books. We had tried and tried to make things work, but he could not change his ways. I am committed to make this marriage work not only for our children, but for each other. Wright says, Marriage keeping involves preserving, caring for, and honoring marriage. This is a commitment to do whatever it takes, not just for our own marriage, but for others, too (Wright, 2005, p. 15). I desire to be a keeper of marriage, not only mine, but to also help others who are struggling to find that love they once had. I feel that more people should help support others in any way they can, including relationships. Marriage is tough and having a good support system to keep you focused, is important. • 24. Bowlby s Theory Of Attachment Perhaps the most influential explanation of attachment was presented by John Bowlby who began developing his ideas in the 1940s. Bowlby was commissioned by the World Health Organisation to investigate whether young children were likely to be harmed if they are separated from their mothers in the early years. (Hayes, 1996). Bowlby (1951) reported that infants possesses an innate need to attach to one main attachment figure (this was usually the mother). According to Hayes (1996), this is a special relationship which is qualitatively different from the relationship they form with any other kind of person. He described this as the process of monotropy; however, Bowlby did not deny that babies formed lots of attachments. (Bailey et al. 2008). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Evidence of this came from his study of forty four juvenile delinquents. (Hayes, 1996). His findings from this study proved that there is a correlation between maternal deprivation in babies and subsequent criminal behaviour in adulthood. Bowlby has been criticised by other academics. Michael Rutter (1981) argues that these problems are not due solely to the lack of attachment to a mother figure, as Bowlby claimed, but to factors such as the lack of intellectual stimulation and social experiences which attachments normally provide. (McLeod, 2007). Rutter (1970) in another study of a group of delinquents in the Isle of Wight found no connection between delinquent behaviour and separation from the mother. According to Buchannan (2013), Many feminists have taken issue with attachment theory, describing the attachment field s prescriptive mothering role as unreasonable, the emphasis on mothering as politically motivated and the rational for focusing on mothering in isolation from context as patriarchal (Contratto, 2002; Morris, 2008). Rudolph Schaffer and Peggy Emerson (1964) also formulated a theory of attachment based on their longitudinal study of 60 babies in Glasgow looking at the gradual development of attachments; they visited them monthly for the first year of their lives and returned again at 18 months. Other factors can play a part and may increase the chances of a patient experiencing this condition, and some of them include: preamputation pain in the limb that was amputated, a blood clot that formed in the amputated limb, a preamputation infection, previous damage to spinal cord or peripheral nerves that supplied the affected limb, traumatic amputation, and the type of anaesthesia that was used during the operation (Scheinberg, 2016). If Ethics defines what is good for individual and society, and being justice is the concept of moral rightness of an individual , then it is unethical to be injustice and depriving one s rights. In this case, the HK Government is applying tighter rules on mainland mothers , at the same time restricting those cross border families and also ignoring the justice in ... • 30. Arguments Against Internet Censorship The internet is the most important platform for ideas and thoughts to grow and spread, making it substantial. It’s important to keep it free and open for anyone without having to worry about being prioritized or shut out completely. The FCC has overstepped and has made it seem like safety is their main objective with the new ruling, but in reality its for control and sides with big businesses over the rest of society. The government should not interfere with the internet anymore then they are now, Anything more would give them too much control. Internet being regulated like a utility is bad business, Europeans who use internet being regulated is on average 30% slower than our current speeds. Not only will speeds be negatively affected but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... AT T stopped streaming a rock concert when the sound of Vedder sang, George Bush, leave this world alone and George Bush, find yourself another home. These are just two examples of ISPs manipulating the users’ data to further achieve control. The fact that they are able to do this is troubling and discriminating. The government already filters data available to students, making for a safe environment for students online. The Children’s Internet Protection Act was put in place in 2000, it specifically requires schools and libraries to block or filter Internet access to pictures and material that are “obscene, child pornography, or harmful to minors” on computers that are used by students under 17 years of age. However, there has already been issues with this government interference, in 2011 it came to light that items related to LGBT issues and support groups for LGBT youth were being blocked by the filtering software. The ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) discovered from students that these websites were being blocked routinely, along with LGBT anti bullying resources like It Gets Better and the National Day of ... • 31. The Causes Of Fanaticism In The Salem Witch Trials The most important reason was the ergot, which was a parasitic fungus that poisoned people through rye bread. This caused caused symptoms that were very similar to the symptoms blamed on witchcraft, leading adding credibility to this reason. Additionally, this reason is the most logical and scientifically sound reason out of all of these documents, since it relied on biology. The second most important reason was probably the fanaticism that caused everyone to blame Satan for the witchcraft, which stopped people from looking for other reasons which may have caused the witchcraft. This fanaticism stopped people from looking at other causes of the symptoms, and they didn t bother to use a scientific or logical perspective because they were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is a known fact that ergot fungus causes people to hallucinate. This is seen in Document H, which states, (Ergot) has 10 percent of the activity of LSD, (and) is also found in morning glory seeds, the ritual hallucinogenic drug used by the Aztecs (Caporael 1). Because of its hallucinogenic properties, the ergot probably caused many of the supposed apparitions that many people saw, such as Ann Putnam, Jr, in Document G. Additionally, there was a drought in 1692 which killed the rye that the ergot fungus grew on, and the Salem Witch hysteria also stopped the next year (Caporael 1). This means that rye, which the ergot fungus grew on, definitely had a factor in the Salem Witch Trials. The ergot fungus was also observed to affect more females than males (Caporael 1). This would explain why there were so many more women became accusers than men, as seen in Document C. This shows a direct correlation between the ergot fungus and the people who were affected by witchcraft symptoms, which adds further credibility to how the ergot fungus caused the Salem Witch hysteria in 1692. The fanaticism over Satan causing witchcraft was also another factor that caused the Salem Witch hysteria in 1692. Because the ergot fungus caused hallucinations and symptoms that people usually associated with witchcraft, it was probably easier to blame Satan than to look for another reason that could be more reasonable. ...
