Theme Of Ode On A Grecian Urn By John Keats
Life s mysteries are best stated in writing. Some mysteries are revealed, while others remain
unknown forever. John Keats, one of England s greatest poets, published several poems, including
one of his most famous ones in 1819, Ode on A Grecian Urn (Keats 247). Keats was a renowned
poet during the British Romantic period. Romantic literature focused on beauty and emotions. So,
what is the significance of the scenes depicted on the mysterious urn? Is the urn simply a
masterpiece of art with emphasis only on physical beauty? In the poem, Ode on A Grecian Urn,
John Keatscreates mysterious scenes on a Greek urn to contrast between everlasting art and human
life. Keats contrasts both worlds through the urn s elaborate description, the theme of personal
relationships, and the ultimate message of beauty, with significant relevance to modern times.
The poems ambiguities begin with the speaker describing the urn. However, these ambiguities
are not just intended by Keats to remain enigmatic, they are there to be connected like a puzzle,
piece by piece. As the speaker, who is a mystery himself, describes the urn, it is evident that he is
bewildered with a spark of curiosity, attempting to grasp the meaning of the scenes (Mishra 51).
The speaker first states what he sees from a distance. He describes the distinct advantages of the
urn as an object, Thou still unravished bride of quietness...foster child of silence and slow time
(Keats 247). He defines the world of art as

Marijuana Legalization Case Study
In the current state of our society, there are many issues that have the ability to affect citizens on
a daily basis. Some of these issues spark debates all the way up to presidential candidates, while
others continue to hide in the shadows. A major issue in today s society is the use of marijuana
and other elicit drugs. Marijuana legalization has been a topic on many state house floors and
senate meetings. Many states have legalized medical marijuana or some form of the two active
ingredients: THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) or CBD (Cannabidiol). Few states have legalized
recreational use, which allows citizens over 21 to purchase marijuana for personal use. I want to

The reason the Carter administration s decriminalization plan failed was because parents were
worried about the youth using marijuana, but little to no evidence existed on the matter. The tricky
problem with this research question, is there are already findings, even in non legal states of high
school aged kids reported that marijuana would be easy to find, whether they smoked or not. With
that being said, I believe that marijuana has become prevalent enough in this country as it is,
whether states that allow legalization or not, the youth will still be able to get their hands on
marijuana. My hypothesis is that legalization does not have an outstanding affect on the youth in

European Imperialism 19th Century
With the wealth of the industrial revolution burning in their pockets, the powerful nations of
Europe were ready to formally expand their empire into Asia and Africa. Known as new
imperialism, this desire for expansion was motivated by many things. There were two major
reasons why Europe wanted to expand, and that was the promise of economic growth, and the sting
of national rivalry. Prior to the 19th century Europes interactions with Asia and Africahad mostly
been limited. Content on making money from their already established commercial outlets, Europe
usually didn t impose direct rule into these areas. However as the 19th century progressed a shift
occurred of new imperialism. Europeans began to seek formal political control over foreign... Show

because of the same reason they wanted too in the first place, industrialization. Not only was

Effects Of Environmental Pollution On The Environment
Abstract
Pollutants are impacting aquatic organisms disposed by daily human activities and natural
occurrences. An extensive amount of pollutants such as pesticides, heavy metals, and hydrocarbons
can result in direct significant damage, e.g. death. However lower levels of these harmful
substances can be stored in an organism and increase as it continues and follows up the food chain,
a process called biomagnification or bioaccumulation, having the greatest effect on the top predator
of that food chain. A common result of the pollutants can lead to stress, changing of the immune
system, inhibit lysozyme activity, damage gills, metabolism, and growth. Other factors include an
excessive amount of nutrients in the environment. Nitrogen can make its way into aquatic
ecosystems when there is an increase in nitrous oxide in the air, allowing eutrophication. Algae and
bacteria feed off the nitrogen, so a high number of these organisms appear and use oxygen around
them as the feed, causing hypoxic zones, or dead zones. Acidification, an increase in the ecosystem
s pH acidity from acid rain, which occurs from an increase in CO2 from air pollution. Aquatic
organisms have a range of tolerance, and water with high acidic pH will lead the organism out of
the range of tolerance, resulting in stress of the organism, and eventually death. Further studies are
being pursuited to see larger impacts of globalized pollution on aquatic species and their
ecosystems.

The On The Tom Green County Juvenile Probation Resources...
Programs and Services On the Tom Green County Juvenile Probation Resources website, I found
quite a few programs and services that I believe would work for adolescents who are either at
risk or already in the juvenile justice system. The programs and services are: the High Sky
Children s Ranch, The West Texas Boys Ranch, The Concho Valley Home for Girls, House of
Faith, The Youth Advocate Program, and Big Brothers and Big Sisters program. The reason I
believed these types of programs and services would work is because they all include some type
of support, counseling and/or mentoring for adolescents and juveniles. The types of programs and
service are extremely important because they offer adolescents and juveniles resources they may
not be receiving at their home life. The programs and services I found to be more politically
motivated are: The Department of Family and Protective Services (CPS) and The Texas Juvenile
Justice Department. The reasons I find them politically motivated is because they are programs that
are ran by the government, so they focused more on making money rather than offering help. They
may offer help, but only to a certain extent due to the many regulations they have abide by.

Teaching Styles Within The Classroom
Teaching Physical Education today is more intricate than most people might think it is or was
years ago. Classrooms today include students of a very large spectrum. This can include students
who learn visually, auditory, by being hands on or even students who participate in adaptive
classrooms. Basically, every student in any classroom seems to learn slightly differently than their
classmate these days. Too many teachers are avoiding including multiple teaching styles in their
classrooms due to the potential increase in effort and preparation that follows, but it is crucial that
Physical Educators are aware of the importance of teaching styles in the classroom. A teacher who
can properly incorporate multiple teaching styles into their classrooms is an example of a
successful and effective teacher. Students in today s physical educationclassrooms vary greatly
among great levels. In order for teachers to effectively teach every single one of their students, they
need to incorporate different teaching styles into their daily routine. One example of a teaching
style is the direct teaching style. The direct teaching style is the most commonly used teaching style
in Physical Education classrooms, so it can also be considered the most effective in a normal
classroom setting. Direct teaching, or otherwise known as Command style teaching is self
explanatory in the fact that it the most command like style. The teacher is the leader of the
classroom and provides their students with

Analysis Of Interior Of The Pantheon, Roman By Giovanni...
Interior of the Pantheon, Rome (1734) is a remarkable painting by Giovanni Paolo Panini who is
best known for his prospects on Rome in which he focussed on the city s famous sites. His works
largely have a fancy and unreal adornment feature of capriccio themes. The Pantheon is a former
Roman temple which is now a church in Rome. It is one of the best preserved Ancient Roman
Buildings which is also popular for the geometric wonder that it is. It demonstrates the theory of
2:3 correlation between the volume of a cylinder and a sphere. The Pantheon being one of the main
tourist attractions in Rome, Panini s depiction of this architectural model is populated with a lively
mix of Romans and other foreign visitors who are visiting the Pantheon to admire the marvellous
architecture, chat, and to pray. Panini being a trained expert in theatrical design and architecture
has provided a larger view of the interiors of Pantheon than what is possible in real from a single
point. The viewpoint is intense while it faces the entrance. Panini s attempt to show the bright blue
sky through the oculus in the centre of the dome just adds to the magnificence of the painting. The
psychic line towards the sunlight creates a soft feeling that is not too harsh on eyes but directs the
vision to the right point. The ground is a terracotta coloured layer that is reddish and contains
several translucent white pigments to provide a certain depth. The lines were incised using
straightedge into the

Kohlberg s Theory Of Moral Development
Lawrence Kohlberg (1927 1987) further developed the works of Piaget (1896 1980) in regards to
moral development. This essay will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of Kohlberg s theory in
a critical manner, looking at the positive aspects of his research and the disadvantages of the types
of situations he gave in his experiments, the universal accuracy of his results and the controversial
findings of sex differences in regards to morality. Kohlberg advanced Piaget s theory of moral
development and interviewed 10 13 year old boys to find out how they would attempt to resolve
moral issues. These issues varied between situations that involved obeying the law, authority figure
or rule and ones that would conflict these rules in order to serve a human need. From the answers
that were given Kohlberg devised three levels, each split up into two stages, that he believed were
universally found and that every person went through to advance their levels of morality (Shaffer
Kipp, 2007).
One of the major advantages of using Kohlberg s theory of moral development over Piaget s is the
universal nature of the findings. Colby Kohlberg, (1987) found a strong positive correlation
between age and maturity levels of moral reasoning in the United States, Mexico, the Bahamas,
Taiwan, Turkey, Honduras, India, Nigeria and Kenya. This research support does indeed suggest
that Kohlberg was right about the stages of moral reasoning being universal (Shaffer Kipp, 2007).

Teaching Reading Comprehension Support For Students With Adhd
ADHD and Comprehension
Problem Statement
There is a general problem in providing effective reading comprehension support for students
labeled with ADHD. Despite many programs and modifications in place for students labeled with
ADHD to become as successful as their unlabeled peers, recent studies have demonstrated that
students labeled with ADHD continuously fall short of their peers in many facets of reading
comprehension. This problem has negatively impacted students labeled with ADHD in a multitude
of ways during their academic careers which in turn could lead into lifelong difficulties with reading
and comprehension. It is imperative for teachers to understand the causes that add to the students
challenges to appropriately offer remediation. A possible cause of this problem is not having
identified which instructional strategies and interventions are most effective when teaching reading
comprehension to students labeled with ADHD in the in elementary and middle school grades. A
study which investigates the comprehension deficits of students with ADHD, and identifies the
most effective instructional strategies and interventions in reading comprehension for these
students may prove to be a step in the right direction could remedy the situation.

Black And Latino By Roberto Santiago
Multiracial children are becoming more common in today s society, many years ago multiracial
children were judged for having more than one culture and feeling excluded out from others.
Times have changed and according to a recent study from Pew Research Center, about 60% of
mixed adults are proud of their different cultures. This statistic perfectly fits the author Roberto
Santiago who wrote Black and Latino . On the other hand around 55% feel subjected by racial slurs
from non mixed people. Author Jade Snow Wong who wrote Fifth Chinese Daughter never dealt
with racismtowards herself but her father was racist about Americans and she expresses one culture
more than the other. While Santiago accepts both of his cultures and Wong mainly accepts one,
they each still faced racism in different ways. Accepting both cultures can be good for a person
and a lot easier when dealing with people who simply do not understand multiculturalism. Santiago
never felt like he had to choose a raceand stick to it, he always felt like he was Black and Latino
and that is because he is. In his essay Black and Latino he writes about growing up with two
cultures and having other people not accept him fully. He thought he was perfectly fine but
others expected him to pick a side because he did not fit the standards of being Black or Latino . I
am both and always have been. (par.1) He does not prefer one culture over the other but insists

How Did The Great Leap Forward And The Cultural Revolution
The research engages with the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution, two significant
and defining events in Chinese history since the establishment of the People s Republic of China.
The Great Leap Forward (1957 60) was a Chinese economic plan initiated by Mao Zedong aimed at
revitalizing all sectors of the economy. Wildly unrealistic planning poorly planned communization
of agriculture, and a poor harvest in 1959 caused mass starvation. Mao was forced to turn
government administration over to Liu Shaoqi and Deng Xiaoping. His popularity diminished
severely and thus launched the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolutionto regain his popularity.
The Cultural Revolution (1966 76) was the mass mobilization of urban Chinese youth inaugurated
by Mao Zedong in an attempt to prevent the development of a bureaucratized Soviet style of
Communism. Mao closed schools and encouraged students to join Red Guard units, which ... Show

democracy. This coupled with the copious allowance for free speech, in the Chinese regard, during
the Cultural Revolution and its devastating aftermath which remained potent in the lives of many
individuals lead many Chinese to lose faith in their government altogether. This loss of faith and
potency of unsavoury memories may have pushed many Chinese to look towards a better political
and social systemп‚ѕa democratic one. Chinese society was avidly propagandistic. The aim to
maintain a strong communist hold on Chinese society through press and censorship reform had the
opposite effect, even subsequently having to be crushed. Thus the events of the Great Leap

TAMPAX. This product is the best selling product with 44% of the global market share. Out of
this 44%, approximately 90% of its sales come from North America and Europe. One of the main
reasons for tampax being successful only in North America and Europe is because tampons still
have not gained popularity as a result of various cultural resistance, religious resistance and/or
myths associated with using a tampon. This case study discusses the various issues that Tambrands
had to overcome in order to create a global demand for its product.
Question: What are the Problems in the case? What are the decisions to be made?
Despite being the best selling tampon in the world, the companies earnings dropped by 12

drop was a serious concern as the company uses a single product strategy, also they compete

The Three Primary Phases Of The Water Cycle
July 20, 2016
The Water Cycle All living things must have water to maintain homeostasis. In order for there to
water to replenish there is a cycle known as the water cycle. The water cycle has many different
names such as the hydrologic cycle and the H2O cycle. There are three primary phases in the water
cycle: evaporation, condensation, and precipitation. The water cycle is continuous process in which
some phases of the cycle may take longer than some depending in the geographical location any
person or animal lives. Figure 1 demonstrates the different phases of the water cycle. Figure 1: The

Water storage can be either fresh water or salt water. Ground water is where there is just a body
of water, or water that is on the ground. Also water storage does not have to be in liquid form. It
can be found in snow, ice, or glaciers. When one of the solid forms of water melts it is called run
off water. When run off water runs into a water storage it will evaporate at some point in the future.
Condensation
Condensation is the process by which water vapor in the air is changed back in to liquid water.
Condensation is crucial to the water cycle because is responsible for the formation of clouds.
Precipitation
The final step in the water cycle is precipitation. Precipitation is when water is released from
clouds in the form of rain, acid rain, sleet, snow, or hail. It is the primary connection in the water
cycle that provides for the delivery of atmospheric water to the earth. The most common type of
precipitation is rain.
Acid Rain
Acid rain is caused by emissions of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide, which react with the water
molecules in the atmosphere to produce acids.

study in every society and civilization throughout history. Medicine is constantly improving and
being innovated, making the treatment of various diseases and ailments easier and easier. However,
in the early millennia, the rate at which medicinewas being improved and innovated was not as
rapid as it is today. The physicians and doctors of the time were not as skilled as the medical

If the planets did not align correctly, the four humours would become unbalanced and lead to an
ailment. The affected would then proceed to seek out ways to return the balance. Many doctors
of the Medieval Era referred to a Zodiac Chart to determine the positions of the planets, which
helped them determine whether or not to conduct blood letting. The four humors were associated
with an element: blood air, phlegm water, black bile earth, and yellow bile fire ( Medieval
Medicine ). When they would become unbalanced, medieval doctors would turn to various
methods to attempt to rebalance them. A common method was blood letting, which involved the
use of numerous leeches. However, they were not reluctant in using knives and other sharp
objects to get the job done (Trueman). The mindset behind this process was that blood letting
allowed for all the bad blood to leave the body. Conventionally, leeches were used to extract small
amounts of blood, while knives were used to extract large amounts. Another commonly scrutinized
bodily fluid was urine, which was examined quite frequently. They mostly focused on the color of
the urine sample and made conclusions depending on what the color was. The differences in color
was a direct result of humoral imbalances (Evans). Not only could doctors diagnose a patient s
ailment by analyzing one s urine in a practice called uroscopy, but they could also detect pregnancy.
Clear urine would signify virginity, while colors close to black, and a cloudy urine would signify
sexual impurity, thus possible pregnancy (Evans). All in all, while these fantastical influences had
no scientific, concrete backings, many believed these various concepts, which would later indirectly
stunt the growing influence concrete science would have on medicine. Luckily, this would not
discourage the medieval scientists who were hungry for knowledge and

The Dangers Of Technology And Technology
Technology consuming our lives, making us so attached to it that a moment without it feels
like we are dying. We use technology to cure our epidemic of boredom with mindless activities
like watching videos or scrolling through social media. We are never really alone with our own
thoughts; we always have hundreds of people we can access at the press of a button. When my
computer died a few years back, I had nothing else to access my favorite websites, so I simply
borrowed my parent s until I bought a new one. Boredom, or solitude, felt so unusual for me; I had
no clue what to do with myself. I couldn t just sit there and be bored. Instead, I immediately
filled that void with technology once again when I could have just waited a few days for when I
got my laptop. Even when I claim that I am doing nothing, I still have headphones in or some
video or show for background noise. I strategically avoid the feeling of boredom all the time, and I
immediately turn to my technology to do so.
Professor Sherry Turkle states in her essay, Solitude , that the decline of solitude has negative
effects on children s health, and technology is the cause. She discusses how time spent alone is
essential for developing certain qualities and skills as a child, such as empathy and creativity. Also,
she goes over how people are becoming addicted to technology, never leaving its side, and turning
to it for emotional outlets or getaways. She also mentions how parents are pushing this life style
onto their children. Turkle correctly concludes that solitude is an important part of childhood, and
people today turn to their phones instead of boredom.
According to Turkle, for a child to properly develop mentally, solitude is needed. As Turkle stated,
It s the capacity for solitude that allows you to reach out to others and see them as separate and
independent. ... This makes the capacity for solitude essential to the development of empathy
(Turkle 61). By being in solitude, people notice themselves and how they are one person and
capable of doing things on their own. With that realization, a person would then be able to look at
others and come to the same conclusion that they too are independent from others, that they are not

The Role Of Women In Hedda Gabler

Through the characterization of Hedda, Ibsen explores the oppression of woman in the Victorian
Era.
Introduction:
In Hedda Gabler, Henrik Ibsen portrays the hopeless struggle of woman in the Victorian era
through the protagonist, Hedda. From 1837 to 1901 in England, women experienced
unrestrained oppression, were expected to follow the orders of their husbands, and were
believed to be unwise. In the play, the newly wed Hedda has just arrived to her new husband,
Tesmun s home town, and her whole world seems to be shrinking inch by inch, expressed mainly
through elements of stagecraft. The play is mostly focused around the main character, Hedda, a
tragic heroine. Her need to manipulate others grows ever stronger as her boredom and despair
increase, due to the new middle class atmosphere she is forced into. At last, she frees herself from
all of the social restrictions society has imposed on her, by completing the act of suicide. Through
the characterization of Hedda, Ibsen explores the oppression of woman in the Victorian Era.
In the first Act, Ibsen portrays the oppression ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the upper hand in all affairs, and to express her freedom or at least want for freedom, she states I

foreshadow the ending of the play as it prepares the audience for unexpected and uncontrolled
actions taken by Hedda. Furthermore, the ultimate outcome of her actions is Tesmun and Thea
working together to re create the manuscript, which Hedda was unprepared for. Tesmun and Thea

Persuasive Essay On Henrietta Lacks
Have you ever wondered what scientists use to test diseases on? Scientists use the immortal cells of
cancer victim Henrietta Lacks to test various diseases and infections. Science, a never ending quest
of destruction and salvation, throughout history many historical figures such as Henrietta Lacks,
Douglas Mawson, and Phineas Gagehave sacrificed much to feed it s endless hunger. Science is
like a great and powerful king that shall never be slain, it forever saves it s people but at the
same time causing destruction among the enemy. Henrietta Lacks has had greater adversities in
the course of contributions to science (feeding the beast) over Douglas Mawson, and Phineas
Gage. The cliche phrase Heroes never die proves true for Henrietta Lacks, over Douglas
Mawson, and Phineas Gage. The story of Gage, Mawson, and Lacks are all interesting topics,
but the Lacks still faced the most adversity out of the three. Henrietta Lacks lost her life for
science, faced great pain during her life, and a slow mental deterioration from knowing with
almost all certainty that she would die. Meanwhile, Mawson led an arctic exploration, and
somehow survived with his life. Gage had a horrible accident and somehow fully recovered from
it. Lacks faced the most adversity due to some quite unethical actions from people around her and
from nature itself, sometimes life just does not work out and that was true in Lack s case. The most
important fact that Lacks faced the most adversity over

Management Styles Throughout the World
Running head: MANAGEMENT STYLES THROUGHOUT THE WORLD
Management Styles throughout the World
Tambra Sullivan
Minot State University BADM 535
Abstract
A management style is a leadership method used by a manager. As diverse as cultures are
throughout the world, so are management styles. A key value underlying the American business
system is reflected in the notion of a never ending quest for improvement. The prevailing question
is can it be done better? (Roa, 2010). In other cultures, the strength and power of those in command
rest on the premise that the status quo demands stable structure. (Roa, 2010). Researchers debate
whether it is organizational or ethnic culture that is predominant. In today s business environment,

It can create an environment of fear and resentment, leading to high turnover and absenteeism. It
can also stifle creative ideas and limit fresh ideas. (Kisner, 2011). Of all the management styles, this
one is the only one that lends itself toward a tendency for abuse by the manager. Some managers
take their role to extreme, belittling and humiliating employees by yelling or reprimanding them in
public. It is also the least likely management style to show praise for a job well done, instead
opting for reprimands for mistakes made.
Democratic
Democratic leadership solicits input from others. (Bateman Snell, 2009). This type of manager is
open to the opinions of others and welcomes their contribution in the decision making process.
(Democratic Leadership, 2010). For this management style to work successfully, robust
communication between the managers and the subordinates is a must. It is best used when making
decisions on complex matters where a range of expert advice and opinion is required. An advantage
with this style, since employees are involved in the decision making process, they are more
committed to the desired outcome. Another advantage is it creates a collaborative environment,
often resulting in more thorough solutions to problems. (Democratic Leadership, 2010). Many
employees report that they find this work environment enjoyable and experience a

Qualitative Ethology
Describe the characteristics of the research that provide evidence that either an ethnographic or case
study approach was used.
The study of ethnography is based on learning and understanding a specific group and investigating
a particular problem that they maybe facing (Capella University, 2017a). Within the qualitative
ethnographic study of Shepard (2013), the author really takes a look at a organizational group of
workers and the stress that they experience within this field. For example, Shepard (2013) looks
at health care, harm reduction, and human services workers and the traumatic stress that they
experience working with the pain and struggles of their clients. Within the human services field,
workers can deal worth homelessness, drug uses, and people diagnosed with terminal illnesses.
Shepard (2013) uses this study to review the lives of these types of workers who have died due to
the stress and poses the question of How we can create a culture of wellness, pleasure, care, and
support in the fields of harm reduction and human services. (p. 3).
Identify the key phenomena under investigation.
The phenomena under investigation is the range of stress that harm reduction, health care, and
human services workers deal with on a day to day basis within the field of their work. For
instance, Shepard (2013) reviews the various types of stress, such as post traumatic stress, vicarious
stress, and burnout. This study tapes into these workers lives who coped with this

The Highly Adaptable Amur Leopard
The leopard species is mostly associated with the stable conditions in the African savannah
however there is a rare exception living in the harsh winters of eastern Russia. This species goes
by the common names of Amur leopard, Far East leopard, Manchurian leopard or the Korean
leopard. The Amur leopard s scientific name is Pantherapardus orientalis, in the family felidaeand
one of ten sub species of leopards. In 2000 the IUCN added the Amur leopardto their Red List of
Threatened Species classifying the subspecies as Critically Endangered, and the CITES has
listed it on Appendix I. This species is down to a population size of roughly thirty adults, making
it the most rare species of big cat in the wild (WWF). Previously the Amur leopard stretched from
southeastern Russia, through Northeast China, and into the Korean peninsula in the 19th century
however after decades of destruction, poaching, and hunting of its prey, the Amur leopard has
been restricted to a tiny fragment of its former range (Klappenbach). Due to this unbalance of
nature the Amur Leopard is struggling to survive. In the period between 1970 and 1983 the
leopard lost eighty percent of its habitat range. Today only 20 25 leopards it inhabit a 5,000 km
squared area in Russian Province of Primorsky Krai while only 7 12 are thought to be scattered in
areas of northern China. The Amur leopard, being highly adaptable, can survive a wide range of
variability in temperature and precipitation. This adaptability

A Vision Of School Leadership
A Vision of School Leadership in the 21st Century
The responsibility of preparing today s students for tomorrow s future involves more than
orchestrating the curriculum students learn and the teachers who teach it. It involves the ability to
employ the leadership styles fluently based on the everyday demands of running a school
(Goleman, 2000). Informed by both research and real world application, the Wallace Foundation
identified five key functions of a successful leader: shaping a vision of academic success for all
students, creating a climate hospitable to education, cultivating leadership in others, improving
instruction, [and] managing people, data, and processes to foster school improvement (Harvey,
2013, pg. 4). To be an effective 21st centuryeducational leader, one must cultivate a sustainable
vision and school culture which are globally minded, yet locally applicable to the community they
serve.
Leaders need to adapt their leadership style to fit varying situations that occur in a school. Each of
the six styles, coercive, authoritative, affiliative, democratic, pacesetting, and coaching have their
time and place to be utilized and vary in effectiveness on the overall climate in a school (Goleman,
2000). As most of my educational experience has been centered around the democratic style of
building consensus, I tend to demonstrate this style most often. From experience, this style leads to
a positive environment as people feel listened to; however, sometimes

Risks Of Risk Management Planning
Risk Management Planning The risk management plan is to identify possible negative and positive
risks that are unforeseen before and during the project duration. The risks associated with this
project can be as little as permit issue to as big as hazardous material abatement and handling. The
positive riskcan be addressed and over checked for cutting corners and missed work packages. The
risk planning must be composed of stakeholders and project team leaders including the project
manager. The plan will involve the appropriate team members to address positive and negative risks
by using their experience, and skills. The managementplan will include instruction with dealing
with contractor issue that can possibly put constraints on the project. There will meetings with
project team to brainstorm the risks and discuss the impact of those identified risks and how they
can resolve them if they do surface. The plan should be part of the decision tree making, especially
for very large projects.
Risk Identification
The activities of this project will be by contractors and subcontractors, which will have a
substantial amount of positive and negative risks. There are 15 positive and negative risks that
have been identified. The risks are commonly known risks that general contractors and project
managers encounter and it starts with safety first. The safety and well being of every employee

Taking a Look at Ancient Egypt
Africa is located to the south of the Western Europe and it is a very large landmass. It is bordered
in the north by the Mediterranean Sea and on the east by the Red sea and the Indian Ocean and in
the west by the Atlantic Ocean. Africa is known to have many diverse environments, which include
arid areas, semi arid, Tropical rainforests, Savanna, vast swamps and snowcapped mountains in the
south of Africa. The first ever civilization in Africa was in Egyptalong the river Nile. This
civilization later spread to the other parts of Africa. The emergence of civilization in Africa

cultural and political aspects when civilization was emerging.
The Egyptian civilization was the earliest and it was one of the catalysts in the development of
civilization in other parts of Africa. The civilization began around 3000 BC. Its civilization is
known to be one of the longest serving civilizations in the world s history. Egypt is located in the
Nile valley of northeast Africa. The life of Ancient Egyptwas centered on the river Nile and the
fertile land around it for the purpose of agriculture and commercial purposes. The river Nile
provided them with the irrigation they needed and control the flow of the water so that the crops

odious lies he used to describe this village. In the book, Three Cups of Tea, Greg Mortenson

Examples Of Stereotypes In The Return Of Jahar
Although the use of animation inherently calls for more caricatured characters, Disney s Aladdin
and The Return of Jafar are full of harmful middle eastern Arab stereotypes. Almost all the
characters, save for Aladdin and Jasmine, who are the most white out of almost all of the other
Arabs (they have middle class American accents, are of a lighter skin tone) are painted as the
Violent Arab, for example; the shopkeeper attempts to slice Iago for attempting to steal some
grapes. The villains are painted as stereotypically faceless/ uniform Arabs that blunder around
stupidly and are ridiculously superstitious (in The Return of Jafar they immediately assume that a
box is mystically floating, rather than being lifted from below). On top of all that, there is the
obvious stereotyping present in the opening song of Aladdin, Oh, I come from a land, from a
faraway place/ Where the caravan camels roam/ Where it s flat and immense/ And the heat is
intense/ It s barbaric, but hey, it s home . The description of the Middle Eastbeing totally barbaric
and almost mystical ( a faraway place ) is harmful, especially through song, as children will repeat
the lyrics without a second thought, reinforcing the stereotypes they hear and see.... Show more

The Book Of Judges Talks About Ancient Israel
The Book of Judges talks about ancient Israel, and how they extended their territory by acquiring
lands from the non Israelites. The book narrates how Israelites conquered and reclaimed their lost
land from non Israelites and how they used to turn from God whenever they are satisfied. But it is
written in the Bible that, the guilty are by no means cleared, as Exodus (34:7) says this is the
reason why the Lord used several Kings and Judges like Deborahto help the people of Israel find
their way back to Him. As the book reveals, it is evident that most of the judges were men (as
they were most of the times referred to as Judges). The book talks about a great woman Deborah,
also referred to as the bee , as a key judge in the entire book. This book unveils the importance of
women (through acts and strengths of Deborah (mainly) and other heroic female characters) and
their power to the readers. The Book of Judgesnarrates six women who are and will always be
remembered by their outstanding and remarkable work. They are, Achsah, Deborah, Jael,
Japhthah s daughter, Delilah and the identity of two of them is not revealed. O Connor (1980)
suggests that, The book of Judges demonstrates this disparity as observed; women assume a vital
function in its set up as the volume s subject is marginalization (278). Women are well known in
three major roles, that is, being a mother, a daughter or a mate. Despite these limited roles, the
Book of Judges shows that women are powerful and

Michael Sam s statement is true and sports played a very big role in bringing the help and
attention to the campus to try and put a stop to the racism that was going on. Not only should
football players not go through this but normal students as well. Students should not have to pay
thousands of dollars for an education to get treated any kind of way. The football team makes
millions of dollars every year for the university and the players don t get paid. Most of the
African American football players have been awarded a scholarship and work hard every day to

Learning Geometry Requires Steps Or Levels
Learning Geometry requires steps or levels that need to be completed by students. These levels
of learning need to be completed in a particular order, so that students can progress and move
along to the next level. Difficulties in grasping geometric concepts by students may be caused by
the lack of exposure to a particular level or the lack of preparation by their leaning facilitator. A
combination of the two needs to be present for students to learn and maximize the learning
experience. Instructors need to be aware how students learn and determine if they are a level
appropriate for their age. If they are not at that level then, it is up to the instructor to make sure that
students reach the desired level. Instruction should be modified to incorporate ways to assist those
students that are not at their level.
Van Hiele suggested that students must pass through five levels of learning in a sequence and must
move level by level, so that they can learn appropriately. The levels are: visual, descriptive/analytic,
abstract/relational, formal deduction, and rigor/mathematical. By the time a student enters high
school they should be at formal deduction level and be able to create proofs. Students should know
identify shapes, identify properties, and understand relationships. Having this levels of the Van
Hiele model should be sufficient for students to comprehend high school geometry. Yet, educators
feel that students are not at this level and emphasis should be

Speech On Learner Centred Pedagogy
Learner centred pedagogy
We have been talking about child centred or learner centred pedagogy for the past well over 16
years; but even today our classroom practices mostly remain what they were 25 years ago. Large
over crowded classes, ill trained and untrained teachers, poorly equipped classrooms, single teacher
schools, and multi grade teaching is some of the stark realities that severely restrict the use of
learner centred pedagogy. It is high time that we switch over from teacher centred education to
learner centred teaching and learning. Teachers need to be trained and facilitated to handle learner
centred pedagogy.
Inclusive education
Another central concern of teacher education relates to what is known as inclusive or integrated
education. Inclusive/integrated education should cover not only children with mild disabilities
(who are educable ), but also street children, children from remote and nomadic populations, and
children from other disadvantaged and marginalised areas or groups. There is an emerging
consensus that children with special educational needs should be included in the educational

For centuries organizations in business, government and military treat human resources either as

Aristole around 384 BC said this eloquently Some are by nature free, others are by nature slaves.

Misconceptions Of Herbal Medicine
Herbal medicine and therapy has become a rapidly increasing interest among today s people due
to it s supposed lack of harmful side effects and affordability. They often do a small bit of
research and self prescribe herbal remedies. In doing so however could lead to dangerous and
terrible adverse affects. To combat the misconceptions of herbal medicines, I have done research
on the topic. In this essay, I will describe what herbal medicine is, explore its history and origins,
delve deeper into herbal medicines and remedies used in the widely know concept traditional
Chinese medicine, and discuss the functions and control of modern herbal medicines. The word herb
originated from the Latin word herba, which refers to the green crops and grasses (Koopsen Young,
2009, p.280). The term еЎ—erbalismВ” means йЌЌhe study and practice of using plant material
for food, medicine, and health promotionВ” (Koopsen Young, 2009, p.280). This definition of
herbalismalso refers to the use of herbs to enhance the quality of life, both physically and
spiritually (Koopsen, Young, 2009, p.280). Herbal and botanical products, and phytomedicines are
products made from botanicals used to treat disease and maintain health while herbal supplements
are made from plants and are used solely for internal use (Herbal medicine, n.d.).The use of herbs
for medical purposes goes back thousands of millennia. There is evidence in an ancient
Neanderthal burial from 60,000 years of herbs used for medicine that

Internet Censorship Essay
America Needs Censorship of Cyberspace
In June of 1998 the country was horrified to learn of the death of James Byrd Jr. He was a 49
year old black man who had been found horribly mutilated after being dragged to death.
Authorities have charged three men with murder and violation of civil rights ( A Fatal Ride in
the Night 33). Obviously, if convicted, these men are guilty of a horrible crime, but what if this
crime had been committed after viewing a racist website? If a person reads an emotionally
charged, hate filled website and then commits an act of violence, can the creator and owner of the
website also be found guilty?
No laws have yet been established to censor material in cyberspace. The ... Show more content on

He states that we cannot say, the First Amendmentis so sacrosanct that we must stand idly by while
our children are inundated with pornography and smut on the Internet (Exon 156).
However, those who are against censorship on the Internet believe that it violates their right to free
speech. Because the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulates radio and television,
Internet users believe this is the only available forum that guarantees the open exchange of ideas.
The freedom of expression is a right guaranteed to Americans and therefore should not be restricted
by the government.
The First Amendment states, Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion,
or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the
right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
In fact, Americans have a limited form of free speech. Several types of speech are not protected
including fighting words, commercial speech, libel and slander, and obscenity. The Supreme
Court has three tests for determining what is obscene: (1) whether the average person, applying
local community standards, would find that a work, taken as a whole, appeals to a prurient
interest; (2) whether the work depicts in a patently offensive way sexual conduct specifically
defined as obscene in law; and (3) whether the work,

My Day In My School
Have you ever felt like your brain was being split into a million pieces? Possibly a pain so
intense you worried you were dying. That feeling was the cause of my day in hell. It was the
day of the English and Math entrance exams, and I was ecstatic. I take pride in my intelligence
and was ready to put my knowledge to the test. I had gotten a late start to the day, so I had about
30 minutes to get ready before I had to leave for GCIT. I take forever to get myself ready, so I
used every second I could. I usually don t eat breakfast, so I didn t think twice about leaving the
house without any food or water in my system. My dad drove me to the school, and I checked in
at the front desk, getting my group number. I waited in the 400 wing cafeteria for about 20
minutes. Eventually, they called my section, and a teacher led us to our testing room, which
was in the Allied hallway. When I walked in, I noticed the room was a tad too hot for summer
weather. I shook it off though, ready to get started with testing. We waited for 10 minutes so
everyone could get situated, and the heat had finally gotten to me. I could feel a headache
coming on, and I immediately knew I was going to have trouble taking this test. We were logging
into the testing system when I noticed patches of my vision were gone. It took me extremely too
long to type in my name because some keys on my keyboard had vanished. This has happened to
me before, so I shook it off, determined to

Debs Arguments Against The Constitution Of The United States
During the height of WW1, tensions were rising between Americans. Some believed you must
support your country and all that it does to no avail and no protest, while some believed they
should have been able to express their basic civil rights. This side was largely led by famous
socialist, Eugene Debs who believed the people had been blindly following rule from the higher ups
deserved the chance to voice their own opinion. Debs believed that the fundamental rights of the 1st
Amendment should not be put in jeopardy no matter the situation. On the other hand, Woodrow
Wilson, 28th president believed that the only way to unify the country and have success in the war
would be to prohibit official protest against the Government and military. The Government under no
extenuating circumstances possible should be allowed to take away the right to free speech.... Show

The country was built upon the Constitution, and the morals that were continuously upheld by
generations (at times poorly) that all men are equal and are to be treated as such. By taking
away the working class right to this, the whole foundation of the country was shook. All through
time, the US was born by people speaking out against flaws in the land they inhibited, the 13
Colonies may have still been in place if speaking out were forbidden and discouraged. Despite
this, the act was still passed, a law that gave far too much power to the central government and
gave them the potential to attack anyone who may disagree with them. The Espionage Act was a
desperate Act by the Government to help unify the country in a time of war, and in turn, was a
direct violation of the 1st rights of

I Will Show A Picture For Everyone
First I will show a picture for everyone. Does everyone know this five people?
This five people are Chinese teachers. They came to the UK using Chinese traditional ways to
teach UK students. And take exam to compare with British education way which education
methods are better. About the result when I finish the Presentation I will tell everybody. In this
Presentation I will focus on 3 parts, first parts is basic system second parts is teaching methodology
third parts is subject
Let s go to the first parts, in the first part I will give three sections class size, timetable, and after
class. As you can see the first picture is Chinese class, In China one class often have 50 students
however in UK class students is less than the China. There are often have 30 students in each class.
It means that in China teacher cannot pay attention to the each student like student s feedback but
in UK teacher can do it.
Now I d like to show you timetable for school day. You can clearly find that the first table is longer
than the second table because in China students have 8 classes in everyday but in UK they only
have 6classes. Chinese teacher assume that when student at school long time, it can make student
improve their learning efficiency. However they neglect the student can feel so tired because they
often stay at school more than 9hours everyday. Direct regulation British students are relaxed. After
class they can go to the Interest Groups or play with their friends when they

What Is The Cheerios Effect
Have you ever noticed how Cheerios (and other light breakfast cereal) seem to aggregate, forming
clumps while floating on the milk in your breakfast bowl? What is it that makes these cereal
pieces such good friends? Some described it as sugaring. Soaking in milk causes the sugars and
starches that coat the cereal to become sticky. Physicists have given it a name: the Cheerioseffect .
In fluid mechanics, the Cheerios effect is the phenomenon that occurs when floating objects that
don t normally float attract one another.
At the root of the Cheerio Effect are basic physics concepts such as buoyancy, surface tension,
gravity, and the meniscus effect.
Buoyancy or density of an object compared to the liquid or air surrounding it, determines whether
an object submerged in water or surrounded by air will sink, float, or stay put. Buoyancy is what
keeps objects afloat. If an object is less dense than the liquid or air surrounding it, the object
floats. Likewise, if the object is denser, it sinks. When an object floats on water, the water will not
remain horizontal, but will instead form a bump or dimple, depending on the object s weight. The
change is more noticeable when two identical objects float close together as two ... Show more

At the interface which is between liquid and air, water molecules at the surface experience a
strong inward pull from water molecules beneath them but only a weak outward pull from the air
molecules above. This results in the surface of the water caving in slightly. Due to the surface
tension between the milk and the air, the air milk interface does not like to be deformed (just like
an elastic sheet resists deformation) but at the same time, gravity is pulling on the individual
Cheerios. At some deformation of the interface, the two effects cancel resulting in a deformed
interface while the single object remains in

Examples Of Injustice In My Brother Sam Is Dead
War can lead to many different positive and destructive outcomes. Even though there can be
destructive outcomes, many people support war for different reasons. The beginning of freedom
and the end of injustice are both positive prospects that could come from a war, but they are only
possibilities. Many people don t want warbecause of all the things that it brings. All things such as
brutality, senseless violence and injustice can also be brought by a war. In the novel, My Brother
Sam is Dead, the Collier brothers explain how war can change people. Due to the ironic nature of
Ned, Life, and Sam, deaths, Tim chooses to be neutral.

Tim about everything. He shares how he had to watch people he loved die, and he could do

Use Of Symbolism In The Farmer s Children
To Everything, There is a Season
In The Farmer s Children, Elizabeth Bishop describes a father who made one rash decision and
consequently regretted it very deeply. The story goes as there were two brothers, Cato and
Emerson, who were told to stay in the barn overnight to watch over the machines while their father
went out; the brothers felt obligated to obey their father however in doing so, they ended up
freezing to death. The author uses: symbolism, the use of objects, people, and actions to represent
larger ideas; foreshadowing, an indication of what s to come in the story; and irony, the use of
words to convey the opposite of the literal meaning throughout the story. In The Farmer s Children,
Bishop uses the symbolism of the farm implements, foreshadowing of the death of the children, and
the irony of the setting to convey that rash decisions can result in negative consequences by
portraying how one impetuous decision results in a conflict that is irreversible.
Firstly, Bishop uses the symbolism of the farm implements to symbolize the death of Cato and
Emerson. When Cato and Emerson, are lying on the hay, Cato turns to look at the reaper as the
author states, The reaper held out its arms stiffly (Bishop 293). The personification of the reaper
symbolizes that the reaper resembled the grim reaper. Reapers are used to harvest crops so, when
Cato and Emerson start freezing to death, the reaper represents the grim reaper holding its arms out
to harvest

Irrigation In Yuma Essay
Irrigation was nothing new in Yuma, Arizona. Over the years irrigation had just gotten better, it
did manage to change Yuma in some positive ways while irrigation improved. Many people and
the developers of Yuma County had to overcome many challenges but it was not easy to do so. The
project did have both some negative and some positive effects on Yuma County.
Irrigation helped out farmers and their farmland. Also, Irrigation in Yuma came with the
Reclamation Act, which had given permission to the Yuma Project. Some structures like the Laguna
Dam and the siphon were built because of the irrigation and helped Yuma become popular with its
famous crops, for example, the lettuce and wheat. With all of these factors throughout the history of
Yuma has made the Yuma that we know today.
The Reclamation Act was passed in 1902 by the federal government. It was meant to allow projects
to be created that would help with irrigation. The purpose of the Act was to guarantee that safe water

This was being used to put the water higher to be able to flow into Yuma instead of it being
pumped. Once the Imperial Dam had been completed, there was not much need for the Laguna
Dam anymore. Another part of the Yuma PRoject was the Yuma Siphon, it was a huge tunnel that
was built seventy feet underneath the Colorado River. The siphon was made to take water from
the California side of the Colorado River to the Arizona side of the Colorado River. With the
siphon, it supplies the Yuma Valley and Yuma itself with all its water. The water being brought to
the Yuma Valley is also the water we use to water all of our crops which helped with irrigation.
With all of these structures that helped us with agriculture, it brought popularity to the Yuma
community and put a name to this town for having good lettuce and cauliflower because of the
water canals that were created to bring the right amount of water that were able to grow these

Human Involvement And Human Intervention
Introduction Species in nature have chosen to live and thrive where they are comfortable. From
time to time, unfortunate living conditions or a particular disease wipes out an area, calling for
humans to get involved. Also, humans sometimes lead to the extinction of species, through
poaching or the killing of a certain species. This may also occur when individuals cut down trees
and destroy ecosystems. However, occasionally, human involvement can greatly benefit a certain
species of animal or plant. Human intervention can lead to the growth of a certain species and
allow them to thrive and reproduce in their ecosystem, causing the growth of a particular species.

The Spread of Corn Population Corn greatly benefit from human intervention. Without the
intervention of humans, corn would not be able to grow and thrive in certain areas of the globe.
Different types of fertilizers and pesticides have allowed corn to thrive all around the world.
Also, the use of pesticides and fertilizers has opened doors for corn to grow in different types of
climate and fight off many insects and diseases. For example, in figure 2, one may see the
effects fungal disease has on corn. It has made this corn inedible. Next, this disease may spread
to other corn within the field or the corn stalk, greatly affecting a certain corn population. With
the use of pesticides, corn is able to survive and feed many humans around the globe (PLOS
Biology 1). Although pesticides are certainly not good to consume, without them, we wouldn t
have the quantity and quality of corn around the world that we have today (PLOS Biology

finally walked into a small room. Lights turned on automatically. He immediately realized that he
was in an OLS Captain speed jet. He recognized it because his ship was an OLS Captain as well.
But this wasn t his ship. Russian flags fluttered through the cockpit, all the controls were written in
Russian, and there was no Turbo thrust that he had specially installed for his ship. An enemy ship ,
he thought. He attempted to turn the ship on. добро пожаловать Рван It

Female Cannabis Seeds Essay

Feminised Cannabis Seeds: An Emerging Sensation Among Marijuana Enthusiasts!
Feminised cannabis seeds have slowly but sturdily climbed to the top as being the best cannabis
seed among cannabis growers and enthusiasts alike. Moreover, the popularity of feminised cannabis
seed is such, that to some extent the entire marijuana industry is predicated upon growing these
female plants. Furthermore, the name feminised comes from the fact that with the help of these
cannabis seeds only female marijuana plants can be grown.
These feminised seeds generally signify premium quality and in genetics of marijuana seeds.
Another reason for feminised cannabis seed s popularity can be attributed to the fact that, Unless
the grower is breeding marijuana strains, there s literally no use for male marijuana plants.
Moreover, the feminised seeds, as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More control over breeding and cloning There is more freedom over cloning with feminised
plants, as the odds of getting a female plant are much higher compared to male seeds. Furthermore,
there s also an advantage of better control on breeding with feminised seeds.
3. Greater genetics Almost every strain, which is sold as feminised seeds, have their genetics
carefully controlled by the breeder for bringing out the defining characteristics of each strain.
Moreover, this helps the consumers to get more options to sink their teeth into. Add to that, these
plants will be more productive, powerful and aromatic compared to the male plants.
4. Less effort with the plants With feminised seeds, you are guaranteed that every plant grown
from the seed will produce a large amount of bud. Consecutively, you will get more yield from a
garden when they are operating at or below plant count restrictions. Add to that, you don t have to
worry about having to check 100 plants for Staminate Primordia, or in layman s terms the male

Dynamic Data Driven Selection Of Sensor Streams
On Dynamic Data Driven Selection of Sensor Streams
This paper covers the online sensor selection in which the sensor network and relations between
sensors dynamically change by time and a model which is working for selection of sensors at
time may not work for the sensor selection at time , . The selection model of this paper is similar
to model discussed in section 3 (i.e. Online distributed sensor selection) but it is based on a well
defined special centralized algorithm (central server calculates the utility function and decides
which sensors should be selected).
The main goal of the sensor selection is to preserve battery by selecting a subset of sensors for
prediction. After the sensors have been selected, their value will be read in multiple turns (i.e.
active turns) and it will be used to predict the unselected sensors, then the value of all sensors
will be read (i.e. passive turn) and based on that the active set of the next interval will be
selected. The art of this paper is to find a way to switch between active and passive selection
modes in some specific update intervals (number of active turns before a passive turn) to find the
optimized selection of sensors for the next interval of data collection, this way it preserves the
power requirement by activating only few sensors for multiple turns and then trying to maintain the
active set using the collected data of the passive turns. It accomplishes this task by doing evaluation
regression model over multiple

A Basic Overall Assessment Of Pasco County Health
A basic overall assessment of Pasco county health concludes that the county is a moderately healthy
community with chronic illness being a major issue. When comparing Pasco County In the area of
Health outcome to the 67 other counties in Florida Pasco places 45th. The higher the score the
worse the county is. (County Health, 2013) There are two categories that the rankings were broken
into were health outcomes and health factors. Health outcome refers to mortality and morbidity.
Health factors pertain to health risks including factors like alcohol use, access to care and
education. With Health factors Pasco ranked 28th. The rankings vary by a large margin and lead to
the conclusion that the county has relatively healthy.
What I can infer from the statistics found there is a major issue with chronic diseases and other
health factors, which has the potential to lead to a very unhealthy community. The statistics
shows that there is a higher diabetes rate in the county then the average for the state. When it
comes to communicable disease, Pasco has below average contraction. An example would be
Infection with HIV or AIDs, Pasco has around 2.4% while the state average is 5% (County
Health, 2013). While this is a lower number, there are other areas where we are above the state
average. An example of this is the smoking rate in Pasco County. Smoking is widely known for its
horrendous effects on health, in Pasco there is a 26% of adults smoking while the state average is

  • 2. Theme Of Ode On A Grecian Urn By John Keats Life s mysteries are best stated in writing. Some mysteries are revealed, while others remain unknown forever. John Keats, one of England s greatest poets, published several poems, including one of his most famous ones in 1819, Ode on A Grecian Urn (Keats 247). Keats was a renowned poet during the British Romantic period. Romantic literature focused on beauty and emotions. So, what is the significance of the scenes depicted on the mysterious urn? Is the urn simply a masterpiece of art with emphasis only on physical beauty? In the poem, Ode on A Grecian Urn, John Keatscreates mysterious scenes on a Greek urn to contrast between everlasting art and human life. Keats contrasts both worlds through the urn s elaborate description, the theme of personal relationships, and the ultimate message of beauty, with significant relevance to modern times. The poems ambiguities begin with the speaker describing the urn. However, these ambiguities are not just intended by Keats to remain enigmatic, they are there to be connected like a puzzle, piece by piece. As the speaker, who is a mystery himself, describes the urn, it is evident that he is bewildered with a spark of curiosity, attempting to grasp the meaning of the scenes (Mishra 51). The speaker first states what he sees from a distance. He describes the distinct advantages of the urn as an object, Thou still unravished bride of quietness...foster child of silence and slow time (Keats 247). He defines the world of art as ... • 3. Marijuana Legalization Case Study In the current state of our society, there are many issues that have the ability to affect citizens on a daily basis. Some of these issues spark debates all the way up to presidential candidates, while others continue to hide in the shadows. A major issue in today s society is the use of marijuana and other elicit drugs. Marijuana legalization has been a topic on many state house floors and senate meetings. Many states have legalized medical marijuana or some form of the two active ingredients: THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) or CBD (Cannabidiol). Few states have legalized recreational use, which allows citizens over 21 to purchase marijuana for personal use. I want to propose a study on the effects of recreational use of marijuana in the US and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason the Carter administration s decriminalization plan failed was because parents were worried about the youth using marijuana, but little to no evidence existed on the matter. The tricky problem with this research question, is there are already findings, even in non legal states of high school aged kids reported that marijuana would be easy to find, whether they smoked or not. With that being said, I believe that marijuana has become prevalent enough in this country as it is, whether states that allow legalization or not, the youth will still be able to get their hands on marijuana. My hypothesis is that legalization does not have an outstanding affect on the youth in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. European Imperialism 19th Century With the wealth of the industrial revolution burning in their pockets, the powerful nations of Europe were ready to formally expand their empire into Asia and Africa. Known as new imperialism, this desire for expansion was motivated by many things. There were two major reasons why Europe wanted to expand, and that was the promise of economic growth, and the sting of national rivalry. Prior to the 19th century Europes interactions with Asia and Africahad mostly been limited. Content on making money from their already established commercial outlets, Europe usually didn t impose direct rule into these areas. However as the 19th century progressed a shift occurred of new imperialism. Europeans began to seek formal political control over foreign... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... European were involved with Africa since the 16th century, since the Portuguese used their cannons to take over cities amongst the cost to set up their trading post empire. But in the second half of the 19th century Europe suddenly and spectacularly succeeded in colonizing basically all of Africa. Biggest reason why they were able to extend their grasp over much of the world is because of the same reason they wanted too in the first place, industrialization. Not only was industrialization a driving force but nationalism played its part in this. European states saw it as a bonus to have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Effects Of Environmental Pollution On The Environment Abstract Pollutants are impacting aquatic organisms disposed by daily human activities and natural occurrences. An extensive amount of pollutants such as pesticides, heavy metals, and hydrocarbons can result in direct significant damage, e.g. death. However lower levels of these harmful substances can be stored in an organism and increase as it continues and follows up the food chain, a process called biomagnification or bioaccumulation, having the greatest effect on the top predator of that food chain. A common result of the pollutants can lead to stress, changing of the immune system, inhibit lysozyme activity, damage gills, metabolism, and growth. Other factors include an excessive amount of nutrients in the environment. Nitrogen can make its way into aquatic ecosystems when there is an increase in nitrous oxide in the air, allowing eutrophication. Algae and bacteria feed off the nitrogen, so a high number of these organisms appear and use oxygen around them as the feed, causing hypoxic zones, or dead zones. Acidification, an increase in the ecosystem s pH acidity from acid rain, which occurs from an increase in CO2 from air pollution. Aquatic organisms have a range of tolerance, and water with high acidic pH will lead the organism out of the range of tolerance, resulting in stress of the organism, and eventually death. Further studies are being pursuited to see larger impacts of globalized pollution on aquatic species and their ecosystems. Keywords: Pollutants, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The On The Tom Green County Juvenile Probation Resources... Programs and Services On the Tom Green County Juvenile Probation Resources website, I found quite a few programs and services that I believe would work for adolescents who are either at risk or already in the juvenile justice system. The programs and services are: the High Sky Children s Ranch, The West Texas Boys Ranch, The Concho Valley Home for Girls, House of Faith, The Youth Advocate Program, and Big Brothers and Big Sisters program. The reason I believed these types of programs and services would work is because they all include some type of support, counseling and/or mentoring for adolescents and juveniles. The types of programs and service are extremely important because they offer adolescents and juveniles resources they may not be receiving at their home life. The programs and services I found to be more politically motivated are: The Department of Family and Protective Services (CPS) and The Texas Juvenile Justice Department. The reasons I find them politically motivated is because they are programs that are ran by the government, so they focused more on making money rather than offering help. They may offer help, but only to a certain extent due to the many regulations they have abide by. Disproportionate Although I was unable to determine the disproportionate minority contact (DMC) rate in Tom Green County/San Angelo, TX, I was able to find an overview and analysis done on the disproportionate minority contact (DMC) in Tarrant County over a five year ... • 7. Teaching Styles Within The Classroom Teaching Physical Education today is more intricate than most people might think it is or was years ago. Classrooms today include students of a very large spectrum. This can include students who learn visually, auditory, by being hands on or even students who participate in adaptive classrooms. Basically, every student in any classroom seems to learn slightly differently than their classmate these days. Too many teachers are avoiding including multiple teaching styles in their classrooms due to the potential increase in effort and preparation that follows, but it is crucial that Physical Educators are aware of the importance of teaching styles in the classroom. A teacher who can properly incorporate multiple teaching styles into their classrooms is an example of a successful and effective teacher. Students in today s physical educationclassrooms vary greatly among great levels. In order for teachers to effectively teach every single one of their students, they need to incorporate different teaching styles into their daily routine. One example of a teaching style is the direct teaching style. The direct teaching style is the most commonly used teaching style in Physical Education classrooms, so it can also be considered the most effective in a normal classroom setting. Direct teaching, or otherwise known as Command style teaching is self explanatory in the fact that it the most command like style. The teacher is the leader of the classroom and provides their students with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Analysis Of Interior Of The Pantheon, Roman By Giovanni... Interior of the Pantheon, Rome (1734) is a remarkable painting by Giovanni Paolo Panini who is best known for his prospects on Rome in which he focussed on the city s famous sites. His works largely have a fancy and unreal adornment feature of capriccio themes. The Pantheon is a former Roman temple which is now a church in Rome. It is one of the best preserved Ancient Roman Buildings which is also popular for the geometric wonder that it is. It demonstrates the theory of 2:3 correlation between the volume of a cylinder and a sphere. The Pantheon being one of the main tourist attractions in Rome, Panini s depiction of this architectural model is populated with a lively mix of Romans and other foreign visitors who are visiting the Pantheon to admire the marvellous architecture, chat, and to pray. Panini being a trained expert in theatrical design and architecture has provided a larger view of the interiors of Pantheon than what is possible in real from a single point. The viewpoint is intense while it faces the entrance. Panini s attempt to show the bright blue sky through the oculus in the centre of the dome just adds to the magnificence of the painting. The psychic line towards the sunlight creates a soft feeling that is not too harsh on eyes but directs the vision to the right point. The ground is a terracotta coloured layer that is reddish and contains several translucent white pigments to provide a certain depth. The lines were incised using straightedge into the ... • 9. Kohlberg s Theory Of Moral Development Lawrence Kohlberg (1927 1987) further developed the works of Piaget (1896 1980) in regards to moral development. This essay will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of Kohlberg s theory in a critical manner, looking at the positive aspects of his research and the disadvantages of the types of situations he gave in his experiments, the universal accuracy of his results and the controversial findings of sex differences in regards to morality. Kohlberg advanced Piaget s theory of moral development and interviewed 10 13 year old boys to find out how they would attempt to resolve moral issues. These issues varied between situations that involved obeying the law, authority figure or rule and ones that would conflict these rules in order to serve a human need. From the answers that were given Kohlberg devised three levels, each split up into two stages, that he believed were universally found and that every person went through to advance their levels of morality (Shaffer Kipp, 2007). One of the major advantages of using Kohlberg s theory of moral development over Piaget s is the universal nature of the findings. Colby Kohlberg, (1987) found a strong positive correlation between age and maturity levels of moral reasoning in the United States, Mexico, the Bahamas, Taiwan, Turkey, Honduras, India, Nigeria and Kenya. This research support does indeed suggest that Kohlberg was right about the stages of moral reasoning being universal (Shaffer Kipp, 2007). Although the universal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Teaching Reading Comprehension Support For Students With Adhd ADHD and Comprehension Problem Statement There is a general problem in providing effective reading comprehension support for students labeled with ADHD. Despite many programs and modifications in place for students labeled with ADHD to become as successful as their unlabeled peers, recent studies have demonstrated that students labeled with ADHD continuously fall short of their peers in many facets of reading comprehension. This problem has negatively impacted students labeled with ADHD in a multitude of ways during their academic careers which in turn could lead into lifelong difficulties with reading and comprehension. It is imperative for teachers to understand the causes that add to the students challenges to appropriately offer remediation. A possible cause of this problem is not having identified which instructional strategies and interventions are most effective when teaching reading comprehension to students labeled with ADHD in the in elementary and middle school grades. A study which investigates the comprehension deficits of students with ADHD, and identifies the most effective instructional strategies and interventions in reading comprehension for these students may prove to be a step in the right direction could remedy the situation. • 12. Black And Latino By Roberto Santiago Multiracial children are becoming more common in today s society, many years ago multiracial children were judged for having more than one culture and feeling excluded out from others. Times have changed and according to a recent study from Pew Research Center, about 60% of mixed adults are proud of their different cultures. This statistic perfectly fits the author Roberto Santiago who wrote Black and Latino . On the other hand around 55% feel subjected by racial slurs from non mixed people. Author Jade Snow Wong who wrote Fifth Chinese Daughter never dealt with racismtowards herself but her father was racist about Americans and she expresses one culture more than the other. While Santiago accepts both of his cultures and Wong mainly accepts one, they each still faced racism in different ways. Accepting both cultures can be good for a person and a lot easier when dealing with people who simply do not understand multiculturalism. Santiago never felt like he had to choose a raceand stick to it, he always felt like he was Black and Latino and that is because he is. In his essay Black and Latino he writes about growing up with two cultures and having other people not accept him fully. He thought he was perfectly fine but others expected him to pick a side because he did not fit the standards of being Black or Latino . I am both and always have been. • 13. How Did The Great Leap Forward And The Cultural Revolution The research engages with the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution, two significant and defining events in Chinese history since the establishment of the People s Republic of China. The Great Leap Forward (1957 60) was a Chinese economic plan initiated by Mao Zedong aimed at revitalizing all sectors of the economy. Wildly unrealistic planning poorly planned communization of agriculture, and a poor harvest in 1959 caused mass starvation. Mao was forced to turn government administration over to Liu Shaoqi and Deng Xiaoping. His popularity diminished severely and thus launched the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolutionto regain his popularity. Out of this 44%, approximately 90% of its sales come from North America and Europe. One of the main reasons for tampax being successful only in North America and Europe is because tampons still have not gained popularity as a result of various cultural resistance, religious resistance and/or myths associated with using a tampon. This case study discusses the various issues that Tambrands had to overcome in order to create a global demand for its product. Question: What are the Problems in the case? What are the decisions to be made? Despite being the best selling tampon in the world, the companies earnings dropped by 12 percent in 1996. Even though ups and downs in profits are part of any business, this 12 percent drop was a serious concern as the company uses a single product strategy, also they compete against rivals such as Playtex Products and Kimberly Clark, this makes the stakes high. After living in the improved house, I became a bit bored. One day I thought that we should have pixie dust so that we could fly around Neverland. And to my surprise, pixie dust does make you fly. With my new abilities, I was able to give Mary and Peter whatever they wanted. Yet, Peter ran away about two days ago. He said something about getting away from my greed. I shared with him, so I didn t quite understand but I don t really care where he is. If he decided to leave, then that is his problem. Our lives were happy and perfect. But it didn t last for long. Later that week, I am sitting in my glamorous room, eating berries. What once was a small and dingy living area is now filled with a large bed and golden furniture. In order for there to water to replenish there is a cycle known as the water cycle. The water cycle has many different names such as the hydrologic cycle and the H2O cycle. There are three primary phases in the water cycle: evaporation, condensation, and precipitation. The water cycle is continuous process in which some phases of the cycle may take longer than some depending in the geographical location any person or animal lives. Water storage can be either fresh water or salt water. Ground water is where there is just a body of water, or water that is on the ground. Also water storage does not have to be in liquid form. When run off water runs into a water storage it will evaporate at some point in the future. Condensation Condensation is the process by which water vapor in the air is changed back in to liquid water. Condensation is crucial to the water cycle because is responsible for the formation of clouds. Precipitation The final step in the water cycle is precipitation. Precipitation is when water is released from clouds in the form of rain, acid rain, sleet, snow, or hail. It is the primary connection in the water cycle that provides for the delivery of atmospheric water to the earth. The most common type of precipitation is rain. • 19. Medicine In The Medieval Era The study of medicine stretches as far back as can be remembered and has been an integral area of study in every society and civilization throughout history. Medicine is constantly improving and being innovated, making the treatment of various diseases and ailments easier and easier. However, in the early millennia, the rate at which medicinewas being improved and innovated was not as rapid as it is today. The physicians and doctors of the time were not as skilled as the medical professionals in the present era. Lacking the technology and knowledge people have today, the people in earlier civilizations were faced with many obstacles. Among those obstacles were not only technological obstacles, but social obstacles as well. In some cases,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the planets did not align correctly, the four humours would become unbalanced and lead to an ailment. The affected would then proceed to seek out ways to return the balance. Many doctors of the Medieval Era referred to a Zodiac Chart to determine the positions of the planets, which helped them determine whether or not to conduct blood letting. The four humors were associated with an element: blood air, phlegm water, black bile earth, and yellow bile fire ( Medieval Medicine ). When they would become unbalanced, medieval doctors would turn to various methods to attempt to rebalance them. A common method was blood letting, which involved the use of numerous leeches. However, they were not reluctant in using knives and other sharp objects to get the job done (Trueman). The mindset behind this process was that blood letting allowed for all the bad blood to leave the body. Conventionally, leeches were used to extract small amounts of blood, while knives were used to extract large amounts. Another commonly scrutinized bodily fluid was urine, which was examined quite frequently. They mostly focused on the color of the urine sample and made conclusions depending on what the color was. The differences in color was a direct result of humoral imbalances (Evans). Not only could doctors diagnose a patient s ailment by analyzing one s urine in a practice called uroscopy, but they could also detect pregnancy. Clear urine would signify virginity, while colors close to black, and a cloudy urine would signify sexual impurity, thus possible pregnancy (Evans). All in all, while these fantastical influences had no scientific, concrete backings, many believed these various concepts, which would later indirectly stunt the growing influence concrete science would have on medicine. • 20. The Dangers Of Technology And Technology Technology consuming our lives, making us so attached to it that a moment without it feels like we are dying. We use technology to cure our epidemic of boredom with mindless activities like watching videos or scrolling through social media. We are never really alone with our own thoughts; we always have hundreds of people we can access at the press of a button. When my computer died a few years back, I had nothing else to access my favorite websites, so I simply borrowed my parent s until I bought a new one. Boredom, or solitude, felt so unusual for me; I had no clue what to do with myself. I couldn t just sit there and be bored. Instead, I immediately filled that void with technology once again when I could have just waited a few days for when I got my laptop. Even when I claim that I am doing nothing, I still have headphones in or some video or show for background noise. I strategically avoid the feeling of boredom all the time, and I immediately turn to my technology to do so. Professor Sherry Turkle states in her essay, Solitude , that the decline of solitude has negative effects on children s health, and technology is the cause. She discusses how time spent alone is essential for developing certain qualities and skills as a child, such as empathy and creativity. Also, she goes over how people are becoming addicted to technology, never leaving its side, and turning to it for emotional outlets or getaways. She also mentions how parents are pushing this life style onto their children. Turkle correctly concludes that solitude is an important part of childhood, and people today turn to their phones instead of boredom. According to Turkle, for a child to properly develop mentally, solitude is needed. As Turkle stated, It s the capacity for solitude that allows you to reach out to others and see them as separate and independent. ... This makes the capacity for solitude essential to the development of empathy (Turkle 61). By being in solitude, people notice themselves and how they are one person and capable of doing things on their own. With that realization, a person would then be able to look at others and come to the same conclusion that they too are independent from others, that they are not just part of a ... • 21. The Role Of Women In Hedda Gabler English Lit Written Assignment Through the characterization of Hedda, Ibsen explores the oppression of woman in the Victorian Era. Introduction: In Hedda Gabler, Henrik Ibsen portrays the hopeless struggle of woman in the Victorian era through the protagonist, Hedda. From 1837 to 1901 in England, women experienced unrestrained oppression, were expected to follow the orders of their husbands, and were believed to be unwise. In the play, the newly wed Hedda has just arrived to her new husband, Tesmun s home town, and her whole world seems to be shrinking inch by inch, expressed mainly through elements of stagecraft. The play is mostly focused around the main character, Hedda, a tragic heroine. Her need to manipulate others grows ever stronger as her boredom and despair increase, due to the new middle class atmosphere she is forced into. At last, she frees herself from all of the social restrictions society has imposed on her, by completing the act of suicide. Her words foreshadow the ending of the play as it prepares the audience for unexpected and uncontrolled actions taken by Hedda. Scientists use the immortal cells of cancer victim Henrietta Lacks to test various diseases and infections. Science, a never ending quest of destruction and salvation, throughout history many historical figures such as Henrietta Lacks, Douglas Mawson, and Phineas Gagehave sacrificed much to feed it s endless hunger. Science is like a great and powerful king that shall never be slain, it forever saves it s people but at the same time causing destruction among the enemy. Henrietta Lacks has had greater adversities in the course of contributions to science (feeding the beast) over Douglas Mawson, and Phineas Gage. The cliche phrase Heroes never die proves true for Henrietta Lacks, over Douglas Mawson, and Phineas Gage. The story of Gage, Mawson, and Lacks are all interesting topics, but the Lacks still faced the most adversity out of the three. Henrietta Lacks lost her life for science, faced great pain during her life, and a slow mental deterioration from knowing with almost all certainty that she would die. Meanwhile, Mawson led an arctic exploration, and somehow survived with his life. Gage had a horrible accident and somehow fully recovered from it. Lacks faced the most adversity due to some quite unethical actions from people around her and from nature itself, sometimes life just does not work out and that was true in Lack s case. Management Styles Throughout the World Running head: MANAGEMENT STYLES THROUGHOUT THE WORLD Management Styles throughout the World Tambra Sullivan Minot State University BADM 535 Abstract A management style is a leadership method used by a manager. As diverse as cultures are throughout the world, so are management styles. A key value underlying the American business system is reflected in the notion of a never ending quest for improvement. The prevailing question is can it be done better? (Roa, 2010). In other cultures, the strength and power of those in command rest on the premise that the status quo demands stable structure. It can create an environment of fear and resentment, leading to high turnover and absenteeism. It can also stifle creative ideas and limit fresh ideas. (Kisner, 2011). Of all the management styles, this one is the only one that lends itself toward a tendency for abuse by the manager. Some managers take their role to extreme, belittling and humiliating employees by yelling or reprimanding them in public. It is also the least likely management style to show praise for a job well done, instead opting for reprimands for mistakes made. Democratic Democratic leadership solicits input from others. (Bateman Snell, 2009). This type of manager is open to the opinions of others and welcomes their contribution in the decision making process. (Democratic Leadership, 2010). For this management style to work successfully, robust communication between the managers and the subordinates is a must. It is best used when making decisions on complex matters where a range of expert advice and opinion is required. An advantage with this style, since employees are involved in the decision making process, they are more committed to the desired outcome. Another advantage is it creates a collaborative environment, often resulting in more thorough solutions to problems. (Democratic Leadership, 2010). A Vision Of School Leadership A Vision of School Leadership in the 21st Century The responsibility of preparing today s students for tomorrow s future involves more than orchestrating the curriculum students learn and the teachers who teach it. It involves the ability to employ the leadership styles fluently based on the everyday demands of running a school (Goleman, 2000). Informed by both research and real world application, the Wallace Foundation identified five key functions of a successful leader: shaping a vision of academic success for all students, creating a climate hospitable to education, cultivating leadership in others, improving instruction, [and] managing people, data, and processes to foster school improvement (Harvey, 2013, pg. 4). To be an effective 21st centuryeducational leader, one must cultivate a sustainable vision and school culture which are globally minded, yet locally applicable to the community they serve. Leaders need to adapt their leadership style to fit varying situations that occur in a school. Each of the six styles, coercive, authoritative, affiliative, democratic, pacesetting, and coaching have their time and place to be utilized and vary in effectiveness on the overall climate in a school (Goleman, 2000). But it is written in the Bible that, the guilty are by no means cleared, as Exodus (34:7) says this is the reason why the Lord used several Kings and Judges like Deborahto help the people of Israel find their way back to Him. As the book reveals, it is evident that most of the judges were men (as they were most of the times referred to as Judges). These levels of learning need to be completed in a particular order, so that students can progress and move along to the next level. Difficulties in grasping geometric concepts by students may be caused by the lack of exposure to a particular level or the lack of preparation by their leaning facilitator. A combination of the two needs to be present for students to learn and maximize the learning experience. Instructors need to be aware how students learn and determine if they are a level appropriate for their age. If they are not at that level then, it is up to the instructor to make sure that students reach the desired level. Instruction should be modified to incorporate ways to assist those students that are not at their level. Van Hiele suggested that students must pass through five levels of learning in a sequence and must move level by level, so that they can learn appropriately. The levels are: visual, descriptive/analytic, abstract/relational, formal deduction, and rigor/mathematical. By the time a student enters high school they should be at formal deduction level and be able to create proofs. Tori and Eli had to be courageous to help them discover the truth about their town and escape with the others. Tori and Eli have to take out barriers keeping them in their town and climb walls to find out what s happening in their town. While doing all this, they all had to keep it a secret. They often do a small bit of research and self prescribe herbal remedies. In doing so however could lead to dangerous and terrible adverse affects. To combat the misconceptions of herbal medicines, I have done research on the topic. In this essay, I will describe what herbal medicine is, explore its history and origins, delve deeper into herbal medicines and remedies used in the widely know concept traditional Chinese medicine, and discuss the functions and control of modern herbal medicines. The word herb originated from the Latin word herba, which refers to the green crops and grasses (Koopsen Young, 2009, p.280). The term еЎ—erbalismВ” means йЌЌhe study and practice of using plant material for food, medicine, and health promotionВ” (Koopsen Young, 2009, p.280). Herbal and botanical products, and phytomedicines are products made from botanicals used to treat disease and maintain health while herbal supplements are made from plants and are used solely for internal use (Herbal medicine, n.d.).The use of herbs for medical purposes goes back thousands of millennia. • 49. What Is The Cheerios Effect Have you ever noticed how Cheerios (and other light breakfast cereal) seem to aggregate, forming clumps while floating on the milk in your breakfast bowl? What is it that makes these cereal pieces such good friends? Some described it as sugaring. Soaking in milk causes the sugars and starches that coat the cereal to become sticky. Physicists have given it a name: the Cheerioseffect . In fluid mechanics, the Cheerios effect is the phenomenon that occurs when floating objects that don t normally float attract one another. At the root of the Cheerio Effect are basic physics concepts such as buoyancy, surface tension, gravity, and the meniscus effect. Buoyancy or density of an object compared to the liquid or air surrounding it, determines whether an object submerged in water or surrounded by air will sink, float, or stay put. Buoyancy is what keeps objects afloat. If an object is less dense than the liquid or air surrounding it, the object floats. Likewise, if the object is denser, it sinks. When an object floats on water, the water will not remain horizontal, but will instead form a bump or dimple, depending on the object s weight. The change is more noticeable when two identical objects float close together as two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 51. Use Of Symbolism In The Farmer s Children To Everything, There is a Season In The Farmer s Children, Elizabeth Bishop describes a father who made one rash decision and consequently regretted it very deeply. The story goes as there were two brothers, Cato and Emerson, who were told to stay in the barn overnight to watch over the machines while their father went out; the brothers felt obligated to obey their father however in doing so, they ended up freezing to death. The author uses: symbolism, the use of objects, people, and actions to represent larger ideas; foreshadowing, an indication of what s to come in the story; and irony, the use of words to convey the opposite of the literal meaning throughout the story. In The Farmer s Children, Bishop uses the symbolism of the farm implements, foreshadowing of the death of the children, and the irony of the setting to convey that rash decisions can result in negative consequences by portraying how one impetuous decision results in a conflict that is irreversible. Firstly, Bishop uses the symbolism of the farm implements to symbolize the death of Cato and Emerson. When Cato and Emerson, are lying on the hay, Cato turns to look at the reaper as the author states, The reaper held out its arms stiffly (Bishop 293). Dynamic Data Driven Selection Of Sensor Streams On Dynamic Data Driven Selection of Sensor Streams This paper covers the online sensor selection in which the sensor network and relations between sensors dynamically change by time and a model which is working for selection of sensors at time may not work for the sensor selection at time , . The selection model of this paper is similar to model discussed in section 3 (i.e. Online distributed sensor selection) but it is based on a well defined special centralized algorithm (central server calculates the utility function and decides which sensors should be selected). The main goal of the sensor selection is to preserve battery by selecting a subset of sensors for prediction. After the sensors have been selected, their value will be read in multiple turns (i.e. active turns) and it will be used to predict the unselected sensors, then the value of all sensors will be read (i.e. passive turn) and based on that the active set of the next interval will be selected. The art of this paper is to find a way to switch between active and passive selection modes in some specific update intervals (number of active turns before a passive turn) to find the optimized selection of sensors for the next interval of data collection, this way it preserves the power requirement by activating only few sensors for multiple turns and then trying to maintain the active set using the collected data of the passive turns. It accomplishes this task by doing evaluation regression model over multiple ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
