Everglades Restoration
Considering spatial variability of public s preference for the Everglades restoration Everglades, the
largest subtropical wetland of North America, has encountered anthropogenic perturbation since the
last quarter of 19th century when canals were built and peatlands were drained for economic gain
(Godfrey and Catton, 2011). Since then, the system has been exploited, drained, polluted and changed
from its natural setup to escalate and widen the potential services from it. The present state is a highly
regulated system to buttress economic productivity and fulfill several regional demands. The
Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan, one of the world s largest restoration initiative, aims to
restore, protect and preserve the water resources of central and southern Florida (National Research
Council, 2014). While the restoration program is built on a foundation of retrospective science backed
by several years of sophisticated research on understanding the Everglades and similar ecosystem
(Estenoz and Bush, 2015), the human dimension of restoration was not studied adequately(Clarke and
Dalrymple, 2003; Kranzer, 2002; National Research Council, 2014). Particularly, the spatial extent of
residents preference or the heterogeneity of their opinion is important for CERP as the plan aims to
restore ecosystem without compromising the present services (e.g. flood control, water for
agricultural, urban and industrial uses etc.), which are also spatially related. Milon et al., (1999)

The Five Twenty By John Cheever
The short story The Five Forty Eight by John Cheever is a fantastically told story about a mentally ill
woman done wrong by a successful man and how she gets her vengeance. The story is both thrilling
and satisfying. Elements are what make any story what it is, from the complex characters to worry for
and grow with, to the conflict keeping the reader on the edge of their seat, mind racing at how it will
be resolved. All of the elements made this story a good read, but in this case one stands out in
particular. The setting really give this story the excitement and thought provoking substance that could
enthrall anybody. The setting proves to be so important it controls character actions. Everything that
happens is determined on the setting of this story. This literary work is started out with a setting of
New York on a rainy, gloomy day. New York is known to be an exciting city that never sleeps, full of
successful people such as Blake, the main character, or people struggling just to get by, like Miss
Dent. The city being so crowded and loud makes it hard for people to really think and calm
themselves down. He noticed now how much louder the rain made the noises of the street... horns
were blowing urgently... The sidewalk was crowded... he wondered if she was following him.
(Cheever 2) Even on these rainy days the streets are still full of sounds and people. These many noises
give Blake a serious case of paranoia. Blake saw Miss Dent earlier and now the many distractions

End-Of-Life Care Ethics

time of death. With the advance of modern medicine, there is an expectation on the part of the patient
and the physician that the patient would then live longer, but death is not curable, and the end will
inevitably come. In these cases, the patient may not be able to be cured of their disease, but medical

Essay Lower Corporate Tax
A Case for lower Corporate Tax
Submitted by Student 201204997 on 11th of march 2013
Executive Summary
Policy Makers in the United Kingdom may as well take notice and acknowledge that lower corporate
tax can give essential profits to business competiveness without fundamentally hurting the medium
term budget viewpoint.
Several countries lately have reduced or plan to reduce their corporate tax rates in order to stimulate
investment, create jobs and promote faster economic growth. This includes the Ireland where the rate
of Corporation Tax has been kept at 12%.Recently published report of Northern Ireland (NI)
Economic Strategy, identified lowering of corporate tax as the single measure that might have the

Studies by Economist Lee and Gordon(2004) found viewed the connection between corporate tax
rates and economic growth for 70 nations over a 27 year period they discovered that statutory
corporate charge rates are fundamentally adversely related with cross sectional distinctions in normal
economic development rates and that reducing the corporate duty rate by 10 percent can deliver a
additional growth rate of 1.1%
Studies such as these provide strong evidence that lower corporate taxes do lead to long term
economic growth and by having high rates we retard the nation growth potential.
Competiveness
The Canadian legislature has set an unequivocal objective of having a lowest corporate tax in the
Group of Seven (G7) nations on January 1st, Canada brought down its corporate tax rate from 18
percent to 16.5 percent. the rate will eventually decrease to 15 percent. The Japanese administration
also affirmed corporate tax deduction by 5 percent with a specific end goal to increase local
investment and create jobs through improving Japanese firms worldwide competiveness and
improving business environment. Lee and Gordon (2004) argue that the elevated sticker value of the
nation high corporate charge rate not just makes the its economy less competitive all around, but also
it makes its business organizations less aggressive competitive they argue lower corporate tax rates

Logan: A Stand Out Superhero Movie
In the past few years, the superhero genre has risen into the movie industry. This year alone, six
superhero movies were released. The superhero genre is popular among young adults. While big
studios like Marvel and DC are competing for audiences, many overlook Fox studio, which has been
making critically acclaimed superhero movies like the X Men way before the surge of the genre. The
competition between studios create an oversaturation making it hard for films like Logan to stand, but
it does this and more. Logan not only transcends the superhero genre but also turns the superhero
format on its head. Logan incorporates elements found in the drama, road trip, and western genre and
emphasizes emotion over action. Set in a post apocalyptic future, Logon tells the story of a broken
down Wolverine in his older years, taking care of Charles. Despite his reluctance to engage in any
more conflicts, he is forced to escort Laura, a young girl, to safety. Although Logan may be criticized
for its one dimensional villains and overdone story, director James Mangold, successfully crafted an
excellent film that separates itself from the genre through realistic characters and a simplistic plot.
Most of the time, Logan centralizes on its main characters, so it is understandable that other characters
are not as fleshed out. The villains came off as uninteresting and forgettable. Boyd Holbrook played
Donald Pierce, a generic villain with no reason why he is

All Quiet On The Western Front And Night
Long Essay #1 In the two books we read in class, All Quiet on the Western Front and Night we see
that the two world wars of the twentieth century produced unprecedented destruction to human life.
We see this because in Remarque s All Quiet on the Western Front, he says that after witnessing
bodies getting blown up, people getting shot, things burning down and loud noises every day, he was
forced to realize that he no longer belonged to the society that he came from. He realized that he now
belonged to the world of war and that even if he tried to go back to his home, there would be nothing
left for him to go back to. Throughout the books he makes references that his family becomes the
people he was fighting with, even the people he was fighting against because they were the only ones
who understood what he was going through (Remarque, 1929). He and his family no longer kept in
contact and so he was basically in the world alone with no practically no loved one to lean on. The
same goes for the Ellie Wiesel s Night. Ellie gets taken away from his family and forcibly put into a
concentration camp in which he never knew existed. The camp life was harsh and brutal. He saw sons
killing their fathers for food and people dying every day simply for the lack of water. He was forced to
do hard work and take long journey s in which had the intention of killing him and his counter parts
because they were Jewish. He no longer spoke to his mother or sister and his father had just died.

Deforestation is a major global problem with serious consequences to the planet. These consequences
have a negative effect on the climate, biodiversity, the atmosphere and threatens the cultural and

Logging tropical hardwoods like teak, mahogany, rosewood and other timber for furniture, building
materials, charcoal and other wood products is big business and creates big profits. Several species of
tropical hardwoods are imported by developed counties, including America, just to build coffins which
are then buried or burned. The demand, extraction and consumption of tropical hardwoods has been so
massive that some countries which have been traditional exporters of tropical hardwoods are now
importing the wood because they have already exhausted their supply by destroying their native
rainforests in slash and burn operations. It is anticipated that The Philippines, Malaysia, The Ivory
Coast, Nigeria and Thailand will all run out of rainforest hardwood for export within the next five
years.
In addition to logging for exportation, rainforest wood stays in developing countries for fuel wood and
charcoal. One single steel plant in Brazil making steel for Japanese cars needs millions of tons of
wood each year to produce charcoal that can be used in the manufacture of steel. Then there is the
paper industry. A pulpwood project in the Brazilian Amazon consists of a Japanese power plant and
pulp mill. To set up this single plant operation, 5,600 square miles of Amazon Rainforest was burned

The Importance Of Cell Phones In The College Classroom
Unfortunately, cell phones have become one of the biggest challenges instructors face in college
classrooms as these devices have become a pervasive part of young people s lives. What used to only
make phone calls and send text messages, now does our emailing, sends us Facebook and Snapchat
notifications, and plays music. Additionally, our cell phones are not only used for personal activities,
but for school and work life. We want to be reachable in case of an emergency, but the constant stream
of notifications has led our productivity to significantly tumble down. Recently, I noticed that in many
of my classes, even though the professor says there is a no phone policy, many students are scrolling
through their social media feeds or responding to a text rather than paying attention to the lecture of
the day. I admit to using my phone constantly during class, which often has led my grades to suffer
poorly. Rather than paying attention to the lesson, I was checking on buzzing notifications of
entertainment news and random trivia. Because I was not listening to my professor earlier in the day, I
had a difficult time trying to complete the homework assignment. Thus, in an attempt to be epistemic
temperate, for the last two days, I tried to not use my phone during class lectures and study time to
measure my productivity. During my first lecture, it was quite difficult to not constantly check my
phone and see what was going on social media. At one point in the morning, I

The Complex Variety and Uses of the Senecio Genus
Senecio is a huge genus in the family Asteracea, which in turn is one of the biggest families: meaning
Senecio is one of the most largest genus in the world with up to 3000 species found. (Voss, 1985)
Since then, phylogeny has separated many members of the Senecio genus and reclassified them as
Packera. However, Packera spp. are still complex, so much so that Robert Kowal discovered a new
species on Isle Royal in Michigan in 2011, and aptly named it Packera insulae regalis. According to
Kowal, The populations that are currently grouped under the name Packera paupercula do represent a
motley lot that should be split into a handful of species. (personal communication, 8/1/2013) The plant
P. paupercula, also known as Life Root or Balsam Ragwort, is a dwarf member of Alvar habitats
reaching heights of two feet. The entire plant can be incredibly variable: basal leaves can range from
medium to long petioled, and obovate to oblong or oblanceolate in shape. The margins are usually
toothed with serrations that vary from lobed to pinnatified, and leaf apexes that are either blunt or
tipped. Cauline leaves are individual to many, smaller, deeply serrated and partially to fully clasping
the stem. P. paupercula is known for its pubescence, especially at the leaf axils. The golden
inflorescence are capitate and more or less flat topped. As summer comes into full swing, the petals
can be seen falling off one by one until poof a pappus and achene are all that remains. The

Canto Xx of Dante s Inferno
An Analysis of The Souls Damned in Canto XX from Dante Alighieri s Inferno
Introduction
Virgil and Dante find themselves in Circle Eight, Bolgia Four. The damned in this circle are all
diviners and soothsayers, viewed by Dante as practitioners of impious and unlawful arts who attempt
to avert God s designs by their predictions. Virgil implies that those who do prophesy believe that God
Himself is passive in the face of their attempts to foresee, and possibly change, the future. For such
impiety, those who have tried to look forward now have their heads turned backward on their bodies.
Among these damned are Amphiareus, Tiresias, Aruns, Manto, Eurypylus, Michael Scott, Guido
Bonatti, and Asdente.

Conclusion During Dante s time, fortune telling and sorcery is prevalent in Italy. Diviners and
soothsayers are found in different works of literature such as Sophocles Oedipus Rex and Ovid s
Metamorphoses. Medieval people from all walks of life a shoemaker, astrologer, scientist, military
adviser and kings believe in the craft of fortune telling and follow what the soothsayers said even if it
means putting people into exile and not attending a war. Canto XX mentioned one of the 7 kings who
fought against Thebes, a blind soothsayer from Greek Mythology, a soothsayer from Etruia, a
sorceress, an irish scholar who dealt with the occult, a court astrologer and a military adviser all of
them reflected the practice of the forbidden arts before and during Dante s time and until now it is still
widely accepted and promoted by people. There are horoscope sections in the newspaper and
magazines, false prophets and fortune tellers are found everywhere in the archipelago. It is ironic that
there are dozens of fortune tellers in front of the Quaipo Church when it is supposed to be a house of
God and place of worship, not a place of sin.
In keeping with Dante s theme of Divine Retribution, the Fortune Tellers and Diviners have their
heads on backwards, their tears ran down their backs, and down the between the cleft of their buttocks

Dormant Commerce Clause Analysis
By the state of Pennsylvania prohibiting individuals and businesses outside out PA from purchasing
PA internet, PA violates the Dormant Commerce Clause. The Dormant Commerce Clause affects state
laws that might implicate the Federal Commerce power. The first question under the Dormant
Commerce Clause is whether Congress has taken some action that might override or preempt State
action under the Supremacy Clause; any validly enacted federal law will trump any state law. That
does not seem to be the case here. Then we have to determine whether the statute at issue is
discriminatory against interstate commerce. When a state regulates non discriminatorily for the

In Maine, where the state(Maine) prohibited the importation of live baitfish to protect fisherman from
parasites and other species. Maine s law was not unconstitutional, as it did not put a burden on
interstate commerce. The court held that the limitation imposed by the commerce clause on state
regulatory power was not absolute and that states had the authority under their police powers to
regulate matters of legitimate local concern. The Maine statute served a legitimate purpose that could
not be served by non discriminatory alternative. In this case, becoming the cutting edge and hip cool
state does not allow business and individuals to purchase the internet would defeat the state s purpose
of being the hip cool cutting edge state. Allowing individuals and companies to purchase the PA
internet would serve the purpose of raising state revenue. PA is a part of the tri state area; therefore,

The PA regulation will evidentially work against the state of PA. There is an exception, states as

Promoting A New Rice Wine
To promote a new rice wine I have created a 60 second commercial where the enlightened Zen master
Ikkyū uses the five basic categories of sabi, wabi, aware, yugen, and ma to demonstrate the kosher of
this new product. Ikkyū was used due to his notoriety for his infusion of Japanese art and literature
with Zen attitudes and ideals. Ikkyū s significance and understanding of Zen culture made him the
perfect candidate to conduct a tea ceremony to demonstrate the quality and spiritualness of the new
rice wine.
The commercial will begin with a panning shot of a rock pathway leading to a teahouse. In the
background of the panning shot will be the rock garden that faces east. The tea ceremony will be
taking place at sunrise so that the sun will be rising over the rock garden. During this shot, the
sonorous and melancholy chirping of birds will be used to evoke a peaceful but sad emotion. Together
the birds and sun will symbolize the beautiful but fragile and ephemeral nature of life, whereby the
birds enchanting songs at the start of the day will be silenced by the sun s setting at the end of the day.
The panning shot will end at the doorframe and the camera shot will assume an angle from which the
viewer will feel that he/she is the one taking part in the tea ceremony. By using cinematography, in
particular the anonymity creates a will to produce the idea of standing between being and non being.
The doorframe will present a sense of space and emptiness. Beside the

A Biblical Study of Spiritual Gift of Tongues Essay
Continuists argue that the spiritual gift of tongues still continue today. To understand this fully, we
need to remind ourselves of the primary purpose of the spiritual gifts and the spiritual gift of speaking
in tongues. Donald W. Burdick refutes the argument of the cessationists using I Corinthians 13:8.
According to him, we must notice, however, that this verse does not say that tongues were to cease at
the end of the apostolic age. However, he also concluded that healings, tongues, interpretation of
tongues, prophecy, and other gifts which may have been objectively miraculous in nature fade not due
to the sagging spiritual life of the church as claimed by the Pentecostals, but because they have
fulfilled their purpose.
Argument 3: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There, the people are willingly giving their lives away for the Gospel enduring beatings and hardships,
imprisonments and poverty. The Church in these places is more like the Church in Smyrna [Rev 2:8],
where believers suffered and died for the faith. It is surely unjust to class them with the Laodicean
church. What is true that during every age, the Seven Churches provide examples and warnings to the
Body of Christ as types of faithfulness and failure.
Conclusion
Spiritual gift of tongue is surely an interesting topic. A thorough study of this topic must be explored
by the church to understand fully its biblical meaning, purpose, characteristics, regulations, and life.
Each believer of the church must understand this doctrine so that they will be armed in battle or
spiritual warfare. This gift was given to the church by the God through the Holy Spirit at Pentecost,
the birth of the church, to validate the apostles as the messengers of God, with God s message. It is
also verified by various sources cited above that the glossolalia, or the tongue speaking meant by Paul
in his epistles were literal language known to man, a foreign language that may not be known to the

The American Nightmare It s fair to say that the United States is a postcard for success and
opportunity, but what s missing is the equal chance for every US citizen to be able to achieve the
dream. In America, we base our accomplishments on the success and failure of others around us. We
have created a society built upon status, and therefore taken the Dream and stamped an unrealistic
American image all over it. There is no doubt that there is a dream, but the reality is that for many, it
only will be a dream. The gap between wealth and poverty is growing exponentially every year, and
the struggle to achieve the dream, is becoming more and more out of reach. According to the CPS,
More than half of America s working age families with children under age eighteen (approximately
20.1 million families) have annual incomes of $60,000 or below and on the opposite end of this, less
than 3% of families earn an income of $260,000 a year. The benefits of being in a higher class based
on economic and social status, labels the American Dream as invalid, where only the wealthy elite can
win. It would be favorable to say that You go as far as your dreams take you , or, You get out of the
system as much as you put in . The ideology of meritocracy is the core of the American Dream; it s
what makes America such an admirable country. But reality check, this isn t the way America seems to
be working. According to PBS, the middle class average salary has dropped since 1970 (adjusted for

A Report On The Japanese Automotive Industry
Introduction
The Japanese automotive industry is one of the largest and most prominent industries in the world.
Japan has consistently been one of the top three countries with most cars manufactured since the
1960s, surpassing Germany. The automotive industry in Japan rapidly increased from the 1970s to the
1990s and in the 1980s and 1990s, overtook the U.S. as the production leader with up to 13 million
cars per year manufactured. After massive ramp up by China in the 2000s and fluctuating U.S. output.
Japanese investments helped expand the auto industry in numerous countries throughout the last few
decades. It is home to some of the world s largest automotive companies such as Toyota, Honda,
Nissan, Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Mazda, and Subaru (Reporter), but for the purpose of this report my
focus will be on only two of these extremely successful innovators of the automotive industry, namely
Honda and Nissan.
Background
Honda Motor Co., Ltd. is one of the leading manufacturers of automobiles and motorcycles in the
world. The company also provides financial services, power products, and other products and services.
It primarily operates in North America, Asia, and Europe. Honda is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan and
employed 190,338 people as of March 31, 2013 (Honda²).
Nissan Motor Co., Ltd has been an innovator in the automotive industry since 1933, and is currently
one of the world s leading automobile manufacturers; producing over 2.4 million units per year. The

The Impact Of Environmental Degradation On Western North...
Environmental degradation has become a social and cultural norm both within and supported by
Westernized North American life, and the average Canadian and American citizen will likely suffer an
estrangement from our natural world. This separation, backed by centuries of social constructions, has
done much more than alienate us from our original physicality: it has enforced a culturally justified set
of values rationalizing and permitting the devastation of wilderness. A cultural mindset extending
centuries into the past is difficult for the individual to identify and even more challenging for a society
to overcome; however, another culture exists, namely that of the North American indigenous peoples,
who have developed and experienced, through a history of living at peace with the land, what is
known as traditional knowledge. This unique relationship to the land encompasses a truth that colonial
and subsequent Western rule both overlooked and stigmatized in the face of economic and social
progress . While Western North American culture is beginning to acknowledge and explore the
worldview and methods accrued through traditional knowledge and employ consultation with the
indigenous peoples as a vehicle of sustainability, serious damage has already been committed and
could have been lessened had our past entailed an adoption of Aboriginal worldviews. The benefits of
traditional knowledge can particularly be seen through analysis of Aboriginal relationships to forestry,
which

Civil Law
Civil law (common law)
Civil law is the branch of law dealing with disputes between individuals or organizations, in which
compensation may be awarded to the victim. For instance, if a car crash victim claims damages
against the driver for loss or injury sustained in an accident, this will be a civil law case.[1] Civil law
differs from criminal law, whose emphasis is more on punishment than in dispute resolution. The law
relating to civil wrongs and quasi contract is part of the civil law.[2]
Overview
In the common law, civil law is the area of laws and justice that affect the legal status of individuals.
Civil law, in this sense, is usually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be contrasted with common law systems whose intellectual framework comes from judge
madedecisional law which gives precedential authority to prior court decisions on the principle that it
is unfair to treat similar facts differently on different occasions (doctrine of judicial precedent).[1][2]
Historically, civil law existed in the times of Ancient Egypt and it is the group of legal ideas and
systems ultimately derived from the Code of Justinian, but heavily overlaid by Germanic, canon law,
feudal, and local practices,[3] as well as doctrinal strains such as natural law, codification, and
legislative positivism.
Conceptually, civil law proceeds from abstractions, formulates general principles, and distinguishes
substantive rules from procedural rules.[4] It holds case law to be secondary and subordinate to
statutory law, and the court system is usuallyinquisitorial, unbound by precedent, and composed of
specially trained judicial officers with a limited authority to interpret law.Juries separate from the
judges are not used, although in some cases, benches may be sat by lay judges alongside legally
trained career judges.
Overview
The purpose of codification is to provide all citizens with an accessible and written collection of the
laws which apply to them and which judges must follow. It is the most widespread system

The Pros And Cons Of The Workplace Relations Act
The former procedures for seeking redress in workplace conflicts were long, expensive and rather
frustrating. One had to seek redress with multiple Courts arising from the same set of facts and the
appeal system was equally as frustrating. Therefore, the Workplace Relations Act 2015 has been a
welcome development albeit with its advantages and disadvantages and the process has been
shortened and simplified to make it less expensive for both sides to pursue. Multiple claims no longer
have to go to different Courts for redress as all employment rights disputes will go straight to the
Workplace Relations Commission based on the same set of facts and in the event that mediation fails,
the matter is dealt with by an Adjudication Officer. Sending ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Japanese-American Internment Camps

one of the tragic internment camps. The Japanese Americans were being relocated and played around

race at this time, which made many Japanese people feel crestfallen. The Japanese were sent to harsh
internment camps with very cramped living spaces. The mess halls provided grub style food. They

rice. Even though they got what they wanted, it was prepared

Tay Sachs Disease In Children
Imagine giving birth to a beautiful seemingly healthy baby, the doctor wiping him or her off and
handing it to you. Two days later, the hospital discharges you, and you begin to spend the next 3
months adjusting your new baby to your home. Towards the 4 month mark you realize some serious
symptoms that are hard to ignore such as the inability to grow beyond his or her small figure., inability
to hold something like a spoon or even your finger, and lastly lack of eye contact. Scary as this
scenario may seem, at least 16 babies are diagnosed with Tay Sachs disease in United States every
year. Unfortunately, the diagnosed cases are only found in toddlers because, children with this disease
only survive to the age of 5 years of age.

Golden State Warriors Team Analysis
It s no surprise that when a team starts to break records at a rapid pace, people start to wonder whether
they are the on of the best teams all time, if not the greatest. That s what the current Golden State
Warriors team is doing right now. People did not expect them to be playing at such a high level after
their historic year last year. They started off this year with a bang, behind reigning MVP Stephen
Curry, and they are yet to slow down. They are currently on pace to break the single season record set
by the Chicago Bulls in 1996 behind Michael Jordan, and this run is starting people to debate whether
this Warriors team is better than the Bulls team from 1996, who are currently considered the greatest
team of all time. Many different claims have been brought up, such as the Bulls are better because
they had Michael Jordan or the Warriors are better because they have a deeper team. Those supporting

Self-Esteem In American Culture
In American culture, self esteem is a big topic of interest. The trend seems to be the higher the self
esteem, the better. We are constantly trying to bring up children who will be happy and successful in
life, i.e. avoiding raising children with low self esteem. But how is someone s self esteem created?
Does level of self esteem equate to the level of interpersonal success a person will have in life?
Having had experienced a wide spectrum of self esteem levels in both platonic and romantic
relationships, these were questions I wished to answer. In order to set out researching, the following
question was used as a guide: are people with high self esteem likely to have more or fewer

Persuasive Speech For Labor Crisis
America s Skilled Labor labor crisis has always been overshadowed by other U.S issues. In my
opinion this is a very important problem that needs to be resolved. Today I will inform you on the
strategies I would take to solve the labor shortage. First off, being that most younger workers are
dependent on technology. I think it would be a good idea to use that to an advantage. Many companies
have adopted the use of employee devices and enterprise apps to conduct and manage work within the
company. Mobile smart phones and tablets are used everyday by millions of people across the world.
By developing apps and other technological tools, then a company can be much more relatable to a
work s interests. Which will improve a shortage of worker in a company. Make the company more
interesting by posting useful content. It can get very tiresome if all a company publishes are job
postings. I think a great idea would be to publish company news, updates and share on social media.
They could also use other platforms like your company blogs, newsletters or even industry blogs. This
increases the visibility of the company and has the potential to reach a greater number of applicants.
Basically, just use product updates, new employees and any of your company s latest news as a way to
sell your company to job seekers. Give people a sneak peek. Put the profile of new employees on the
company website as soon as possible once they have been selected to join the team. It makes the

Violence And Sex On Television
Violence and Sex on Television: Effects on the Younger Audience In today s society, the media is used
greatly for communication, advertisement, information, and for numerous other reasons. The world
has evolved by technological advances as well as by the type of content that is put out on the internet,
radio, and especially on television. In particular, violence and sex are two of the most controversial
content types that have been recently used loosely in the present as compared to the past years. It has
become sort of a norm in our society and in popular culture. It is very debatable topic because of
arguments of how it can take a toll or influence on behavior. Not only has this content been used more
frequently, it has also become easier for the younger audience to view because of how freely and
loosely it is used in regular everyday television. I strongly believe that long term viewing of violence
and sex will ultimately effect and even alter behavior of younger audiences.
Violence and sex are also very easy for the younger audience to access because of how freely it is used
in regular everyday television. According to a fact on Teen Health and Media, on average teenagers
spend more time in front of the television than any other activity besides sleeping. The fact is that
television is a major part in everyday lives. Since the younger adult watches a great amount of

Title: Conversion of Alcohols to Alkyl Halides
Abstract: In this experiment the conversion of alcohols to alkyl halides are investigated through reflux

distillation is complete 13C NMR and IR spectrum is used to identify the product or products for each
reaction: 1a, 1b, and 2. Every individual in the group was assigned either 1a (1 propanol) or 1b (2

To prevent the escape of organic vapors, the reaction mixture is cooled with an ice bath before
removing the condenser. The next technique used in this experiment was simple distillation. This is a
physical separation of the components of the mixture. This technique is accomplished once the drip
rate of the product into the collection vessel diminishes considerably. After the reflux and distillation
is complete 13C NMR and IR is used to identify the product or products for each reaction. 13C NMR
is used to observe the carbon skeleton of an organic molecule. Analysis of this spectrum allows certain
stretches to be observed. An IR spectrum has energy measured as frequency recorded on a horizontal
axis and intensity of the absorption on the vertical axis. Analysis of the IR allows us to differentiate
between certain characteristics and functional groups in organic chemistry.

Organ And Organ Of Organ Transplantation
Recognized as one of the most gripping medical advances of the century, organ transplantation
provides a way of giving the gift of life to patients with terminal failure of vital organs. Organ
transplantation requires the participation of both fellow human beings and of society by donating
organs from deceased or living individuals. The ever increasing rate of organ failure and the
inadequate supply of organs have created a significant gap between organ supply and organ demand.
This gap has resulted in extremely lengthy waiting times to receive an organ as well as an increased
number of deaths among those waiting for an organ. These events have raised many ethical, moral and
societal issues regarding supply, the methods of organ allocation and the use of living donors as
volunteers including minors. It has also led to the practice of organ sale by entrepreneurs for financial
gains in some parts the world through exploitation of the poor, for the benefit of the wealthy. This

Miller Vs. Johnson Case
Miller v. Johnson 1995 was a United States Supreme Court Case that decided whether racial
gerrymandering was unconstitutional or not. This issue was very controversial, but before being able
to understand how the case affected the use of racial gerrymandering, one has to understand what
gerrymandering is. Every state is made up of different districts, and each district is entitled to their
own votes when it comes to elections. Gerrymandering is the manipulation of district boundaries in a
way that creates a political advantage in elections by putting a large group of people who are likely to
vote for a certain party in one district. In the case of Miller v. Johnson 1995, only one congressional
district in Georgia was primarily African American between 1980 and 1990. However, in 1990,
Georgia s black population was at 27%, and many African Americans felt that they were being
underrepresented. Georgia s General Assembly was prompted to re draw district boundaries in such a
way that the black population would be more represented in terms of electoral votes. Two drafts of
boundaries were created that were subsequently denied by the Justice Department. Finally, a draft was
approved and an additional black majority district was created. However, the new plan was considered
an abomination due to the way that it was geographically positioned. The third district alone split eight
counties and five municipalities and covered a territory of approximately 6,784 square miles. It

  • 2. Everglades Restoration Considering spatial variability of public s preference for the Everglades restoration Everglades, the largest subtropical wetland of North America, has encountered anthropogenic perturbation since the last quarter of 19th century when canals were built and peatlands were drained for economic gain (Godfrey and Catton, 2011). Since then, the system has been exploited, drained, polluted and changed from its natural setup to escalate and widen the potential services from it. The present state is a highly regulated system to buttress economic productivity and fulfill several regional demands. The Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan, one of the world s largest restoration initiative, aims to restore, protect and preserve the water resources of central and southern Florida (National Research Council, 2014). While the restoration program is built on a foundation of retrospective science backed by several years of sophisticated research on understanding the Everglades and similar ecosystem (Estenoz and Bush, 2015), the human dimension of restoration was not studied adequately(Clarke and Dalrymple, 2003; Kranzer, 2002; National Research Council, 2014). Particularly, the spatial extent of residents preference or the heterogeneity of their opinion is important for CERP as the plan aims to restore ecosystem without compromising the present services (e.g. flood control, water for agricultural, urban and industrial uses etc.), which are also spatially related. • 5. The Five Twenty By John Cheever The short story The Five Forty Eight by John Cheever is a fantastically told story about a mentally ill woman done wrong by a successful man and how she gets her vengeance. The story is both thrilling and satisfying. Elements are what make any story what it is, from the complex characters to worry for and grow with, to the conflict keeping the reader on the edge of their seat, mind racing at how it will be resolved. All of the elements made this story a good read, but in this case one stands out in particular. The setting really give this story the excitement and thought provoking substance that could enthrall anybody. The setting proves to be so important it controls character actions. Everything that happens is determined on the setting of this story. This literary work is started out with a setting of New York on a rainy, gloomy day. He noticed now how much louder the rain made the noises of the street... horns were blowing urgently... The sidewalk was crowded... he wondered if she was following him. (Cheever 2) Even on these rainy days the streets are still full of sounds and people. These many noises give Blake a serious case of paranoia. Blake saw Miss Dent earlier and now the many distractions around ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Several countries lately have reduced or plan to reduce their corporate tax rates in order to stimulate investment, create jobs and promote faster economic growth. • 8. Logo Movie Analysis Logan: A Stand Out Superhero Movie In the past few years, the superhero genre has risen into the movie industry. This year alone, six superhero movies were released. The superhero genre is popular among young adults. While big studios like Marvel and DC are competing for audiences, many overlook Fox studio, which has been making critically acclaimed superhero movies like the X Men way before the surge of the genre. The competition between studios create an oversaturation making it hard for films like Logan to stand, but it does this and more. Logan not only transcends the superhero genre but also turns the superhero format on its head. Logan incorporates elements found in the drama, road trip, and western genre and emphasizes emotion over action. Set in a post apocalyptic future, Logon tells the story of a broken down Wolverine in his older years, taking care of Charles. Despite his reluctance to engage in any more conflicts, he is forced to escort Laura, a young girl, to safety. Although Logan may be criticized for its one dimensional villains and overdone story, director James Mangold, successfully crafted an excellent film that separates itself from the genre through realistic characters and a simplistic plot. Most of the time, Logan centralizes on its main characters, so it is understandable that other characters are not as fleshed out. The villains came off as uninteresting and forgettable. • 10. All Quiet On The Western Front And Night Long Essay #1 In the two books we read in class, All Quiet on the Western Front and Night we see that the two world wars of the twentieth century produced unprecedented destruction to human life. We see this because in Remarque s All Quiet on the Western Front, he says that after witnessing bodies getting blown up, people getting shot, things burning down and loud noises every day, he was forced to realize that he no longer belonged to the society that he came from. He realized that he now belonged to the world of war and that even if he tried to go back to his home, there would be nothing left for him to go back to. Throughout the books he makes references that his family becomes the people he was fighting with, even the people he was fighting against because they were the only ones who understood what he was going through (Remarque, 1929). He and his family no longer kept in contact and so he was basically in the world alone with no practically no loved one to lean on. The same goes for the Ellie Wiesel s Night. Ellie gets taken away from his family and forcibly put into a concentration camp in which he never knew existed. The camp life was harsh and brutal. He saw sons killing their fathers for food and people dying every day simply for the lack of water. He was forced to do hard work and take long journey s in which had the intention of killing him and his counter parts because they were Jewish. These consequences have a negative effect on the climate, biodiversity, the atmosphere and threatens the cultural and physical survival of life. It has resulted in the reduction of indigenous forests to four fifths of their pre agricultural area, so that now indigenous forests cover only 21% of the earth s land surface. Logging tropical hardwoods like teak, mahogany, rosewood and other timber for furniture, building materials, charcoal and other wood products is big business and creates big profits. Several species of tropical hardwoods are imported by developed counties, including America, just to build coffins which are then buried or burned. The demand, extraction and consumption of tropical hardwoods has been so massive that some countries which have been traditional exporters of tropical hardwoods are now importing the wood because they have already exhausted their supply by destroying their native rainforests in slash and burn operations. It is anticipated that The Philippines, Malaysia, The Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Thailand will all run out of rainforest hardwood for export within the next five years. In addition to logging for exportation, rainforest wood stays in developing countries for fuel wood and charcoal. One single steel plant in Brazil making steel for Japanese cars needs millions of tons of wood each year to produce charcoal that can be used in the manufacture of steel. • 12. The Importance Of Cell Phones In The College Classroom Unfortunately, cell phones have become one of the biggest challenges instructors face in college classrooms as these devices have become a pervasive part of young people s lives. What used to only make phone calls and send text messages, now does our emailing, sends us Facebook and Snapchat notifications, and plays music. Additionally, our cell phones are not only used for personal activities, but for school and work life. We want to be reachable in case of an emergency, but the constant stream of notifications has led our productivity to significantly tumble down. Recently, I noticed that in many of my classes, even though the professor says there is a no phone policy, many students are scrolling through their social media feeds or responding to a text rather than paying attention to the lecture of the day. I admit to using my phone constantly during class, which often has led my grades to suffer poorly. Rather than paying attention to the lesson, I was checking on buzzing notifications of entertainment news and random trivia. Because I was not listening to my professor earlier in the day, I had a difficult time trying to complete the homework assignment. Thus, in an attempt to be epistemic temperate, for the last two days, I tried to not use my phone during class lectures and study time to measure my productivity. During my first lecture, it was quite difficult to not constantly check my phone and see what was going on social media. At one point in the morning, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Kowal, The populations that are currently grouped under the name Packera paupercula do represent a motley lot that should be split into a handful of species. The entire plant can be incredibly variable: basal leaves can range from medium to long petioled, and obovate to oblong or oblanceolate in shape. The margins are usually toothed with serrations that vary from lobed to pinnatified, and leaf apexes that are either blunt or tipped. Cauline leaves are individual to many, smaller, deeply serrated and partially to fully clasping the stem. P. paupercula is known for its pubescence, especially at the leaf axils. • 14. Canto Xx of Dante s Inferno An Analysis of The Souls Damned in Canto XX from Dante Alighieri s Inferno Introduction Virgil and Dante find themselves in Circle Eight, Bolgia Four. The damned in this circle are all diviners and soothsayers, viewed by Dante as practitioners of impious and unlawful arts who attempt to avert God s designs by their predictions. Virgil implies that those who do prophesy believe that God Himself is passive in the face of their attempts to foresee, and possibly change, the future. For such impiety, those who have tried to look forward now have their heads turned backward on their bodies. Medieval people from all walks of life a shoemaker, astrologer, scientist, military adviser and kings believe in the craft of fortune telling and follow what the soothsayers said even if it means putting people into exile and not attending a war. Canto XX mentioned one of the 7 kings who fought against Thebes, a blind soothsayer from Greek Mythology, a soothsayer from Etruia, a sorceress, an irish scholar who dealt with the occult, a court astrologer and a military adviser all of them reflected the practice of the forbidden arts before and during Dante s time and until now it is still widely accepted and promoted by people. The Dormant Commerce Clause affects state laws that might implicate the Federal Commerce power. The first question under the Dormant Commerce Clause is whether Congress has taken some action that might override or preempt State action under the Supremacy Clause; any validly enacted federal law will trump any state law. According to him, we must notice, however, that this verse does not say that tongues were to cease at the end of the apostolic age. Argumentative Essay On The American Nightmare The American Nightmare It s fair to say that the United States is a postcard for success and opportunity, but what s missing is the equal chance for every US citizen to be able to achieve the dream. In America, we base our accomplishments on the success and failure of others around us. We have created a society built upon status, and therefore taken the Dream and stamped an unrealistic American image all over it. There is no doubt that there is a dream, but the reality is that for many, it only will be a dream. The gap between wealth and poverty is growing exponentially every year, and the struggle to achieve the dream, is becoming more and more out of reach. According to the CPS, More than half of America s working age families with children under age eighteen (approximately 20.1 million families) have annual incomes of $60,000 or below and on the opposite end of this, less than 3% of families earn an income of $260,000 a year. Environmental degradation has become a social and cultural norm both within and supported by Westernized North American life, and the average Canadian and American citizen will likely suffer an estrangement from our natural world. This separation, backed by centuries of social constructions, has done much more than alienate us from our original physicality: it has enforced a culturally justified set of values rationalizing and permitting the devastation of wilderness. A cultural mindset extending centuries into the past is difficult for the individual to identify and even more challenging for a society to overcome; however, another culture exists, namely that of the North American indigenous peoples, who have developed and experienced, through a history of living at peace with the land, what is known as traditional knowledge. This unique relationship to the land encompasses a truth that colonial and subsequent Western rule both overlooked and stigmatized in the face of economic and social progress . While Western North American culture is beginning to acknowledge and explore the worldview and methods accrued through traditional knowledge and employ consultation with the indigenous peoples as a vehicle of sustainability, serious damage has already been committed and could have been lessened had our past entailed an adoption of Aboriginal worldviews. They started off this year with a bang, behind reigning MVP Stephen Curry, and they are yet to slow down. They are currently on pace to break the single season record set by the Chicago Bulls in 1996 behind Michael Jordan, and this run is starting people to debate whether this Warriors team is better than the Bulls team from 1996, who are currently considered the greatest team of all time. Many different claims have been brought up, such as the Bulls are better because they had Michael Jordan or the Warriors are better because they have a deeper team. Those supporting the Warriors have agued that the records they are breaking and the pace that they are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s not easy to embarrass a skilled team such as the Atlanta Hawks but Scaletta uses facts to his advantage and makes the Warriors, possibly the greatest team of all time, look better than they truly are. We are constantly trying to bring up children who will be happy and successful in life, i.e. avoiding raising children with low self esteem. But how is someone s self esteem created? Does level of self esteem equate to the level of interpersonal success a person will have in life? Having had experienced a wide spectrum of self esteem levels in both platonic and romantic relationships, these were questions I wished to answer. The goal of the article s research was to prove or disprove that high levels of ego identity and self esteem would be related to lower levels of interpersonal conflict, emotional exhaustion, and psychological strain. The researchers used 197 boys and girls, ranging in ages 14 to 18 years old, as their subjects. They were asked age, gender, number of hours they worked per week, then given separate questionnaires on each of the five variables under investigation. Data results showed that those with lower ego identity and self esteem tended to report higher levels of interpersonal conflict, emotional exhaustion, and psychological strain. The authors conclude that participants scoring higher in ego identity and self esteem are less likely to suffer from interpersonal conflict, emotional exhaustion, and psychological strain due to feeling better equipt to deal with stressful ... • 34. Persuasive Speech For Labor Crisis America s Skilled Labor labor crisis has always been overshadowed by other U.S issues. In my opinion this is a very important problem that needs to be resolved. Today I will inform you on the strategies I would take to solve the labor shortage. First off, being that most younger workers are dependent on technology. I think it would be a good idea to use that to an advantage. Many companies have adopted the use of employee devices and enterprise apps to conduct and manage work within the company. Mobile smart phones and tablets are used everyday by millions of people across the world. By developing apps and other technological tools, then a company can be much more relatable to a work s interests. Which will improve a shortage of worker in a company. Make the company more interesting by posting useful content. It can get very tiresome if all a company publishes are job postings. I think a great idea would be to publish company news, updates and share on social media. They could also use other platforms like your company blogs, newsletters or even industry blogs. This increases the visibility of the company and has the potential to reach a greater number of applicants. Basically, just use product updates, new employees and any of your company s latest news as a way to sell your company to job seekers. Give people a sneak peek. Put the profile of new employees on the company website as soon as possible once they have been selected to join the team. It makes the worker feel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The world has evolved by technological advances as well as by the type of content that is put out on the internet, radio, and especially on television. In particular, violence and sex are two of the most controversial content types that have been recently used loosely in the present as compared to the past years. It has become sort of a norm in our society and in popular culture. It is very debatable topic because of arguments of how it can take a toll or influence on behavior. Not only has this content been used more frequently, it has also become easier for the younger audience to view because of how freely and loosely it is used in regular everyday television. I strongly believe that long term viewing of violence and sex will ultimately effect and even alter behavior of younger audiences. Violence and sex are also very easy for the younger audience to access because of how freely it is used in regular everyday television. According to a fact on Teen Health and Media, on average teenagers spend more time in front of the television than any other activity besides sleeping. The fact is that television is a major part in everyday lives. Alcohol and Ir Spectrum Conversion of Alcohols to Alkyl Halides Title: Conversion of Alcohols to Alkyl Halides Abstract: In this experiment the conversion of alcohols to alkyl halides are investigated through reflux and simple distillation. These are common procedures used to separate substances. After the reflux and distillation is complete 13C NMR and IR spectrum is used to identify the product or products for each reaction: 1a, 1b, and 2. Every individual in the group was assigned either 1a (1 propanol) or 1b (2 pentanol), and 2 (1,4 dimethyl 3 pentanol). The purpose of this experiment was to understand and become familiar with the reaction mechanisms and be able to observe and compare the product or products for each of the reactions using 13C NMR and IR. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To prevent the escape of organic vapors, the reaction mixture is cooled with an ice bath before removing the condenser. The next technique used in this experiment was simple distillation. This is a physical separation of the components of the mixture. This technique is accomplished once the drip rate of the product into the collection vessel diminishes considerably. After the reflux and distillation is complete 13C NMR and IR is used to identify the product or products for each reaction. 13C NMR is used to observe the carbon skeleton of an organic molecule. Analysis of this spectrum allows certain stretches to be observed. An IR spectrum has energy measured as frequency recorded on a horizontal axis and intensity of the absorption on the vertical axis. Analysis of the IR allows us to differentiate between certain characteristics and functional groups in organic chemistry. • 38. Organ And Organ Of Organ Transplantation Recognized as one of the most gripping medical advances of the century, organ transplantation provides a way of giving the gift of life to patients with terminal failure of vital organs. Organ transplantation requires the participation of both fellow human beings and of society by donating organs from deceased or living individuals. The ever increasing rate of organ failure and the inadequate supply of organs have created a significant gap between organ supply and organ demand. This gap has resulted in extremely lengthy waiting times to receive an organ as well as an increased number of deaths among those waiting for an organ. These events have raised many ethical, moral and societal issues regarding supply, the methods of organ allocation and the use of living donors as volunteers including minors. It has also led to the practice of organ sale by entrepreneurs for financial gains in some parts the world through exploitation of the poor, for the benefit of the wealthy. This paper presents valuable information regarding organ transplantation while supporting the medical definition of the term brain death What is brain death? • 39. Miller Vs. Johnson Case Miller v. Johnson 1995 was a United States Supreme Court Case that decided whether racial gerrymandering was unconstitutional or not. This issue was very controversial, but before being able to understand how the case affected the use of racial gerrymandering, one has to understand what gerrymandering is. Every state is made up of different districts, and each district is entitled to their own votes when it comes to elections. Gerrymandering is the manipulation of district boundaries in a way that creates a political advantage in elections by putting a large group of people who are likely to vote for a certain party in one district. In the case of Miller v. Johnson 1995, only one congressional district in Georgia was primarily African American between 1980 and 1990. However, in 1990, Georgia s black population was at 27%, and many African Americans felt that they were being underrepresented. Georgia s General Assembly was prompted to re draw district boundaries in such a way that the black population would be more represented in terms of electoral votes. Two drafts of boundaries were created that were subsequently denied by the Justice Department. Finally, a draft was approved and an additional black majority district was created. However, the new plan was considered an abomination due to the way that it was geographically positioned. The third district alone split eight counties and five municipalities and covered a territory of approximately 6,784 square miles. It ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
