Julian Thomas Humanism
In the comparison of Julian Thomas chapter Archaeology s Humanism and the Materiality of the Body
, and Joanna R. Sofaer s chapter The Body as an Archeological Resource it was found that individuals
are characterized by cultural identities. In Thomas chapter there was an emphasis on how individuals
view themselves, particularly in regards to associated cultural stigmas. Sofaer claims that the body is
the major archeological source with cultural characteristics.
In Archaeology s Humanism and the Materiality of the Body , the major idea that was highlighted was
the modern era the main philosophy is that of humanism, which led to the idea of post processual
archaeology . Philosophical humanism incorporates the idea of reason and man to ... Show more

However The Body as an Archeological Resource , seemed to be more focused on the archeological
aspects of how bodies are understood and analyzed in archeology for the bigger picture. Archaeology
s Humanism and the Materiality of the Body was more a philosophical debate about how people
perceive archeology and seemed to be very negative and cynical. The second reading tied more into
the overall significance of the class as it highlights how people are understood in the global and
overall context. The first reading, which began by emphasizing that cultural identifiers should be
removed when analyzing humans, did not make sense to me. Our personalities are shaped by who we
are in society and how we have made a change. If the cultural associations were removed from
Alexander the Great, he would no longer be known as the great divine ruler. Furthermore, the
Holocausts was not just caused by a man who wanted power, rather a man who did not like a specific
culture caused it. I personally disagree with Osteoarchaeologists, as different social barriers created
history and the overall importance of archeology is to understand history and past cultures.
Archeology is the study of understanding humans, cultures and the past, not just focusing on the

Use Of Explicit Language In Fahrenheit 451
Thesis: Despite the use of explicit language in Fahrenheit 451, it should be studies in schools for it
conveys an important message of thinking for yourself and places emphasis on the value of written
text and literature as a whole. Introduction When posed with all of today s favorite four and five letter
words, the feeling is mutual among most audiences, it s entertainment, but go to the other side and you
ll soon realize that people are willing to have an entire book banned to keep those very words out of
reach. Despite the use of explicit language in Fahrenheit 451, it should be studies in schools for it
conveys an important message of thinking for yourself and places emphasis on the value of written
text and literature as a whole. Body Paragraph 1: Ray Bradbury s main focus in his novel was based
upon his fear of modern alienation and negative effects of which technology has on written
publications and the freedom of the mind of an individual. This quote represents the way that the
author s anti utopian style further depicts the alienation between people and literature, as well as the
isolation of people from other people, as a negative effect of the advancements of modern technology.
His dystopian world both represents and decries modern alienation, itself a symptom of unbridled
progress in which, by following blind ideals, we can hardly escape from ourselves , (Watt). Bradbury s
anti utopian realm both depicts and criticizes today s estrangement within the

Life Span On Anne Moody
In Coming of Age in Mississippi, the life span on Anne Moody s experiences are discussed. The story
vividly discussed events from her childhood into her adulthood. Anne s evolutionary journey is similar
to my own s in several ways. We share similarities in the environments in which we grew up in, the
mindset we both had, and the effect both of these had on our personal growth. Although, her evolution
was parallel and symbolized the development of the civil rights movement, we still shared similarities.
Those same pushing effects that Anne Moody experienced in Coming of Age in Mississippi are
similar to the ones I face today.
Both Anne and I grew up in extreme poverty in the South. Her neighborhood was located in

The only memories I had to share were the ones that we created while he behind bars. Honestly, I
never wanted to share those stories. When people asked me about my father I always bit my inner jaw
in effort to keep the tears at bay. I always felt as if no child should have to experience those feelings.
And although I know I was not the only child in that type of situation, it definitely felt as I was. I had
to deal with the absence of my father for four years. At a young age I became more independent. My

Another critical moment in my life that changed me forever occurred in August of 2001. At the peak

of people across the south. For the first time in my life I got to experience what it felt like to be
homeless. I had lost everything! And even though it was not much, it still mattered. There were
several moments when I prayed and wished that my father could be there. No child, my age should

family or individual whose annual income falls below a specified level. Over several years there have
been arguments over the pros and cons of the Guaranteed Annual Income (GAI), and there have been

Essay about Celebrity Activists in Contemporary Society
Celebrity Activists in Contemporary Society
Works Cited Not Included
According to the book Celebrity Politics, approximately 10 percent of Americans get national political
news from nightly entertainment shows such as the Tonight Show. For Americans under 30, the
number is nearly five times as many (Orman and West 100). Citizens are looking to be entertained
rather than simply educated by the nightly news. As David Schultz aptly put it, The new media cover
politics, but only politics as it entertains, in part, because the audience the new media attract is a less
politically interested audience than traditional news audiences (20). The fact is that this American
audience is less interested in hard news and more interested in ... Show more content on

The most notable case of a politician using celebrity endorsers is that of former President Ronald
Reagan, a former B list actor himself. Some of his supporters in 1980 included James Cagney, Zsa Zsa
Gabor, and Hoagy Carmichael (West and Orman 38).
The growing connection between politics and Hollywood has happened for a number of reasons, in a
somewhat cyclical fashion. Politicians need Hollywood stars to support their campaigns because
celebrities are useful in fundraising attempts and recognition. They have the advantages of fame,
wealth, and can easily command press attention. In return, celebrities endorse candidates whose
policies are beneficial to their industry. For example, while Clinton was in office he argued for
industry self regulation and a television rating system, as opposed to formal government regulation
(Ormand and West 38). For this and other reasons, Hollywood stars donated large sums of money to
Democratic candidates in return. In 2000, Hollywood contributed $20 million to Democrats as
opposed to the $13 million that was contributed to the less Hollywood friendly Republican party
(Ormand and West 40).
This is the new celebritized (Combs 123) political culture in which advocacy organizations must
function. Because the media is so inundated with celebrity

Tommy Vladek
According to many different philosophers such as Descartes and Locke there has to be more to the
mind than just the materialistic view. There are many different parts to the brain which make it a
whole according to science, so thinking about the brain from a philosophical standpoint, there must be
different parts to make up the minds identity. According to John Perry, the memories and personality
traits as well as beliefs and intellectual skills make up a personal identity and the body is just a vessel
that holds this identity (TP, 197). Certain people might believe that if one were to get a brain
transplant they would wake up the same person they were before they went in for the surgery. I, on the
other hand concur with Perry and the idea ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

genetics. It could be argued that he is still Tommy just with a change of parts; it would be like he was
getting a new kidney or a heart with the only downfall being that he developed a physiological change
(TP, 194). Given this perspective Tommy would have to remain with Vladek because he is technically
still legally and genetically his son. The legality of this situation would be especially complicated
because there is hypothetically two boys in one. Although I have to disagree with the legal side
because if the boy were to wake up as Sam it would be traumatizing for him to not only look like
another boy but be torn from his previous home and be forced to live with a stranger. Do you think
that the parents made the right decision not only legally but ethically as

they face in their academic and career development. Mentoring relationships, critical components of
the SCSE s influence, are fostered by the SCSE s advisors, mostly Ph.D. level minority scientists.

The cornerstone of the SCSE, holistic advising, has played a pivotal role in creating and sustaining
mentoring relationships with students. Advisors help recruit students into the sciences via STEM class
visits at the beginning of each semester and through holistic advising, including coaching in academic,
career and professional development. SCSE staff focus on providing workshops aimed at increasing
student professional development, including the importance of networking, a tool that many minority
students are unfamiliar with (Stolle McAllister, 2011). Additionally, relationships between advisors
and faculty have enabled a multi layered approach in intervention with struggling students. The
collaborative nature of relationships between instructors and advisors has also created a network in
which students can learn of opportunities in STEM, such as undergraduate research opportunities that
advance their professional development. SCSE advisors also provide assistance with resume building
and writing statements of purpose, and provide guidance throughout the application process for
graduate education. Since its inception, the SCSE has had a specific focus on interactive, student
centered engagement strategies. In this paper we present the Student Center for Science Engagement

Carrie Buck s Argumentative Analysis
When one chooses to write on a matter that seems to have been laid to rest decades ago their burden
extensively lies not in trying to argue for their position, rather in showing the relevance of their
position. This paper attempts to do both of these things when it comes to non consensual sterilizations
of women, specifically disabled women. A practice prominent in the 20th century, this paper examines
coerced sterilizations from a feminist care ethics perspective and ultimately concludes that
paternalistic arguments for this practice are in fact eugenic arguments, and thus renders coerced tubal
litigations as unethical. Although neo eugenics is starting to gain a number of followers for its genetic
benefits, this is but a misconception of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is true; however, Linda Sparkman and others like her deserve justice. This justice begins by
admitting that Ora McFarlane s actions and the court s decision was beyond unethical but purely

interdependence between the two and a duty of the parent to adhere to these virtues. Sterilizing a
teenager because they fraternize with men is not justified by care ethics nor the law as shown earlier
due to the lack of statutory authorization. The mother s wishes do, however, make sense from a pro

Merger and alliances to create new routes from Gatwick.
2.1 BRITISH MERGER AND ALLIANCES
The new group will combine the two companies in the UK and Spain and will enhance their presence
in the international long haul markets while retaining the individual brands and current positions of
each airline. British Airways and Iberia hope their new company International Airlines Group,
International Airlines Group, will position the pair for further consolidation in the global airline sector
as it emerges from a prolonged industry downturn and hope to compete with multinational rivals Air
France KLM and Lufthansa.
From a personal analysis it seems that the merger is likely to be more strategic for both companies as
Iberia is more dominant in South American destinations and British Airways flies to only three South
American destinations. The key benefit of the merger to BA would be the access to South America.
Similarly, Iberia will gain from BA s more extensive North American operations, with the two carriers
able to share information on fares, schedules and routes. They have identified Latin America as a
growth market, one where BA is under represented.
Willie Walsh has drawn a list of 12 possible airlines BA could merge with once the America airlines
and Iberia tie ups are completed. The choice of merging is positive in a sense that it will increase the
market share and BA has promised cheaper fares and even more jobs as part of a route sharing deal

The Preface Starts Off By William Lloyd Garrison
The preface starts off by William Lloyd Garrison describing his encounter with Frederick Douglass at
an anti slavery convention in Nantucket. Garrison tells us that Frederick Douglass made an escape
from the southern prison house of bondage and that his speech at the convention was a memorable
one. Frederick Douglass s had eloquence and a skill of persuading. Connecting people s minds and
hearts to his words of description about the reality of slavery. The audience responded with great
attention and created a common perspective about the actuality of slavery that Frederick Douglass
describes. As soon as Frederick Douglass finished his speech, Garrison arose and declared that the

Rather than the descriptions revealed by the masters who might have hide the significant facts about
his slaves life and the mistreatments they receive. Phillips was also glad to learn a lot of the true facts
from Douglass s narrative and learns the wretchedness of death that gathers over the souls of the
slaves before they could even learn their A B C s. Phillips also mentions that Frederick Douglass
originates from a state (Maryland) where the conditions for a slave were less harsh than the other
states in the Deep South. Where one can only imagine the horrors that surrounded the slaves in those
states. Wendell Phillips also praises his book and is also confident that whoever reads his book will be
persuaded towards the cause of anti slavery and that since Frederick Douglass is a marvelous and
persuasive speaker, his book will also consist of the same elements. Finally, he mentions to his friend
about how he wrote his own name and his masters names clearly in his narrative, making it dangerous
upon himself. Phillips also relates this choice towards the founding fathers when they wrote their
names on the Declaration of Independence. Here we can admire Frederick Douglass s bravery and that
he is not scared to spread the truth about the reality of slavery that many do not know.
Frederick Douglass was born in Talbot county, Maryland. Douglass explains that he does not know his
age, as many other slaves also do not know their

Hard Rock Returns To Prison Poem Analysis
The Hard Rock was a main inmate in the poem. The name of Hard Rock is based on a hard nut to
crack because he was the only one inmate who never submitted and gave a lot of troubles to officers.
The Hard Rock was treated really badly and punished as warning to other inmates in the hospital.
Why he was treated so badly is because not only he never submitted to officers; there might be that he
was a black person. While the Hard Rock was treated badly, other inmates were very submissive to
officers because they did not want to be treated in the same way as Hard Rock. He was forced under
the strong power in the oppressive community, yet he had the power of perseverance and was very
strong; hence, his attitude has not changed through the poem. The Hard Rock was a hero for other
inmates because he was very strong, against the authority, and brought hope to other inmates in the
poem Hard Rock Returns to Prison by Etheridge Knight. The Hard Rock was very strong. Hard Rock
was standing every treatment he had, no matter how badly the treatment was; thus, his body was full
of scars and welts. His treatment by officers and doctors were inhumane. For instances, he has cut his
brain and shot electricity while he was operated by doctors to make him submissive. In addition, there
was testing if Hard Rock had changed his attitude and submitted to officers, yet he has not changed.

My Perceptions Of The Environment And The Amount Of Control
Based on my responses to my perceptions of the environment and the amount of control I feel I have,
the VISA evaluation validated my perception about my leadership proficiencies. This evaluation
indicated a Dominance personality as a leader. According to my VISA profile there is a strong
emphasis on Vision and Action which echoes the dimensions that form my leadership style.
Interdependence and Structure have been indicated to be the less developed areas in my evaluation

your health when you start smoking and you know it is hard to quit so why do people even start
smoking in the first place? This article captured my interest because I work with a lot of people that
smoke and have been smoking for years and I always wondered what their motivation was to smoke. I
have also always wondered if there were certain triggers that caused them to, crave, a cigarette. I think
learning why people smoke and what dictates when they do it would be informational.

The Importance Of Forensic Anthropology
In 1940, Law enforcement agencies began to call Anthropologists to assist with identifying a human
and their skeletal remains, as this led on Forensic Anthropology started to become known. The crime
rate in today society is dramatically rising. With the help of Forensic Anthropology people can help
solve crimes committed. When Forensic Anthropology became popular it made an impact on society
and everyone around the world, and still does today. To truly understand the complicity of Forensic
Anthropology you need to know: what is it, what they do in the field of work, and why it is important
to society.
Forensic anthropology is the study The analysis of human biological and cultural remains for legal

death is done by the help of forensic anthropology. There are many ways a scientist can determine the
cause of the of death. The process to determine a deiced human body usually involves an examination

assess the age, sex, stature, ancestry, and unique features of a skeleton, which may include
documenting trauma to the skeleton and its postmortem interval (Forensic Anthropologist job

Roman City Planning Essay
Roman City Planning
The design and structure of a city is as important as the people who dwell within her walls. The
placement of streets and the structures built there are carefully plotted for optimal use. Foot and cart
traffic, fire hazard, and access to water were all key factors in city planning. Eventually the Romans
had fine tuned their design principals in such an advantageous way that they molded all of their city
states similarly.
Rome developed from the combination of small farming communities around a hilltop fortification.
The city, which was founded before regularized city planning, consisted of a confusing maze of
crooked and gnarled streets. The focal point of which was the city s forum, the main meeting ... Show

Towards the city s heavily trafficked center the Roman Forum was constructed for convenient easy
access of all the citizens. The foreground of the forum was occupied by a paved square with
monuments to famous citizens. The temple to the Divine Julius, dedicated in 29 BCE to the deified
Caesar, built in a Hellenistic style, is located in the background on the left; to the right is the temple of
Vesta and the house of the Vestal Virgins, guardians of the everlasting flame; further to the right is the
temple of the Dioscuri, Castor and Pollux dedicated in 6 CE Here the office of weights and measures
was situated. The podiums of the temples of Caesar and the Dioscuri were often used as orators

The Concept Of Government Is The Self-Actualized Society
In our days, people all around the world more or less suffer from hunger, diseases, poverty, inequality,
crime, wars and etc., and government of different countries are not there to change things, but instead
to keep things as they are. There is a solution in understanding the nature of this suffering and finding
the alternative government system, which will solve the puzzle. Such system was introduced by
Jacque Fresco under the Venus Project. I am arguing that the best form of government is the self
actualized society . It is the scientific and technologically organized society where the role for
government would be surpassed by engineered systems. The self actualized society will replace
money based economies with a resource based world economy. There would be interdisciplinary
teams of knowledgeable people in different fields accompanied by cybernated systems to monitor all
aspects of society to provide real time information supporting decision making for the wellbeing of all
people and the protection of the environment. There are two reasons: people will have healthier, safer,
and flourishing environment, and the society will have more advanced and rapidly developing science.
Many current politicians say that the environment is not important and so, there is no need in self
actualized society. The planet has been here long before us and it will be after, it changes with time
and with human impact, but it will heal itself without our help.
Also, many people say that

Abstract
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder that starts effecting children at a young
age. ASD is often misdiagnosed as pediatric bipolar disorder because they share similar symptoms. As
these children with ASD become teenagers they are faced with having to deal with the normal
hormones of puberty but lack the communication skills to verbalize their concerns. There is no known
cure for ASD but it is treatable and the children can progress with early intervention being key
(National Autism Association, 2014). Interventions such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA),
Developmental Intervention Model (DIM), and Treatment and Education of Autistic and Related
Communication of Handicapped Children (TEACCH) are a few interventions that help these children
progress in life.
ASD is a neurological disorder, and children who are diagnosed as autistic are often considered to
have a severe disability, but the range of ability within this syndrome is broad (Westling Fox, 2000).
ASD affects one in sixty eight children and boys are four times more likely than girls to have this
disorder. Characteristics of this disorder can vary from mild to severe and may include the following
characteristics: communication problems, for example, with the use or comprehension of language,
difficulty relating to people, things, and

Six Degrees Of Separation Play Analysis
This play Six Degrees of Separation was written by John Guare over the expanse of many years. He
started writing it in 1967 and published in 199_. It premiered at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater,
Lincoln Center, on May 16, 1990. The production moved to the Vivian Beaumont Theater for its
Broadway debut on November 8, 1990. The production was nominated for the 1991 Pulitzer Prize for
Drama. The production was finally closed on January 5, 1992 after 485 performances. In 2010, the
play was revived at the Old Vic theatre in London starring Lesley Manville as Ouisa. A 1995 movie
production was also created at the Canadian Stage in Toronto, Ontario which starred Fiona Reid as
Ouisa, Jim Mezon as Flan and Nigel Shawn Williams as Paul.

Although I didn t like the way the story was told, I loved the plot and its twists and turns it had.
Without reading the back cover, you would have no idea the path that this play would take, from
finding out Paul was a con man, to Ouisa never hearing from him again. I honestly expected it to be a
happy ending, but it surprised me when it wasn t. The story also interested me because all of this was
based loosely on true events that were reported in New York papers in 1983. I think that its greatest
weakness was its break in its message. While Ouisa and Flan tell their story about Paul, they
constantly turn to the audience and break the fourth wall. While doing that sometimes can be
beneficial, they do it practically every other line. I got confused when they kept switching, always
having to go back and reread to see who they were talking to. Another way that they broke the
message was interrupting each other. Although that was how it was written, it got annoying, one
person stopping their sentence and the next person continuing it all the

The Influence Of Water Quality In Milwaukee
Any measure of a successful society low mortality, economic diversity, productivity, and public safety
is in some way related to access to safe water. Every day, safe water is available for eating and
cooking, bathing, clothes washing, and a myriad of other purposes (MMW, 2017). In America where
water is at just about every turn of a facet, we don t always think about how fortunate we are to have
amazing access to water. Subsequently, we are much less likely to think about what s in our water. The
Milwaukee area has a few different concerns pertaining to the water quality which effects Milwaukee

Sylvia Plath Figurative Language
Throughout Sylvia Plath s poem You re she addresses what her life is like as a pregnant women. This
poem was written when she was pregnant with her first child so the emotions she was feeling were at
full throttle. Through her use of similes and metaphors Plath is able to portray these first time
emotions as excitement of a soon to be mother starts to grow.
It is no secret that Sylvia Plath thought very highly of her soon to be child. There is no way however
she can express this love in normal words. She must use figurative language to portray this new love.
For example Plath writes, Gilled like a fish. A common sense (line 3). This is the first simile she uses

Plath explores, Bent backed Atlas, our travelled prawn (13). At first glance it seems Plath is referring
to a map of some sort but instead she is referring to a greek Titan. Andrew Spacey who is a writer for
Owlcation wrote about this poem in his analysis. He writes, In psychology Atlas is a metaphor for the
personality of a child who has excessive responsibilities in life (Spacey). Plath is already hinting at her
new child s future and what is to come. She has high hopes for a child she hasn t even met yet, but is
so in tune with her emotions she is feeling during her pregnancy she is able to use these metaphors to
show her expectations. Another example would be when Plath writes, A clean slate, with your own

a new slate Plath is able to show the reader that she is creating new life from her own body. To most
women a no greater joy can be felt. She has created this living being and gets the opportunity to raise a

Many religions share some of the same values, yet many religions differ greatly from one another. For
example Christianity and Judaism share similar beliefs as one another, where as a religion such as
Islam doesn t correlate with other religions as often. Religions have set beliefs and in many cases a
sacred place or temple, Christianity, Judaism, and Islam are all aligned in this way; due to the fact that
Israel is know as the biblical holy land to Jews, christians, and muslims. Christianity s holy land is
Israel Jerusalem, which is also the holy land in Judaism. Islam has a number of sacred places, one very
well known and considered to be Islam s most sacred land is the holy city of Mecca.
Christianity is connected with Israel for numerous reasons. Jerusalem (founded in 3000 BC) is
presumed to be the whereabouts of some of Jesus s teaching, the institution of the Holy Eucharist
(Holy Communion/the Lord s Supper), and the Last Supper. Jesus was crucified in Golgotha which is
right outside of Jerusalem according the the New Testament near the city (John 19:20), and outside the
city wall (Hebrews 13:12). The Church of the Sepulchre of Saint Mary (Tomb of the Virgin Mary), in
the Kidron Valley, very near to Mount of Olives in Jerusalem is known as the burial site of Mary, the
mother of Jesus. The Mount of Olives also known as Mount Olivet is a very important place with

they meet the Buddha, whom Govinda stays with to be a monk while Siddhartha leaves to continue on

In his article, Koester describes Hesse s approach to youthfulness as no more than the tortured
development of individuality, wondering if this is derived from Hesse s own rebellious childhood.
Esther Gropper talks of the typical mental development as a three stage process, which Hesse uses
frequently. The first, typically young childhood, is characterized by respect and happiness. The
second, after the person is introduced to good and evil, is characterized by despair and loneliness. The
third is encountered when the person is able to separate himself or herself from the pain of reality to
realize pure thought. Gropper also notes that Siddhartha is so popular among the young because the
characters suffer loneliness and despair before realizing their place in the world by discovering more
about themselves.

aspects of their religion with adults. However, Siddhartha already begins his questioning of the

In addition to the decorated excrement, the entire painting is supported by two varnished balls of
dung. They are also decorated with tiny pins that spell out the words Virgin on one and Mary on the

the viewers might think that droppings were splattered, or smeared, unthoughtfully over a holy icon.
However, instead of unintentionally and carelessly thrown onto the canvas, Ofili deliberately placed
the varnished dung onto the painting to represent the bare breast. The simple nature of propping the
portraiture up off the ground with two little balls of dung gives it a feeling that [it has] come from the

using a normally foul item as a collage element is blasphemous to the holy image of Mary, in the

Media In Susan Bordo s Globalization Of Eating Disorders
Demi Lovato once said, I m not going to sacrifice my mental health to have the perfect body.
However, today we find that many individuals are doing the completely opposite. In Susan Bordo s,
Globalization of Eating Disorders essay, they fall into the media trap, the self image trap, where they
are concerned of what people may think about them. Americans nowadays have pageants, modeling,
and media to thank for this absurd notion. Fit women, along with strong men give this motivation to
others to want to be like them. Most people should be comfortable with their own bodies. Americans
are mesmerized with media and enthralled by one s body image, and ,as a result, face ramifications
like eating disorders and anorexia.
Why are Americans so fascinated with body image? Americans have media and various types of
internet to rely upon when it comes to body image. TV screens with pageants and internet pictures
with models are some of the many illustrations out on the media today. Pageants are constantly
televising little girls posing in full makeup, and lovishly embellished (Cartwright). This confesses for
parents to put themselves in the action, yearning to either put their children in the pageants for
bragging rights of their children or for their children to be the popular one. Internet pictures with

Dickinson, including nature, love, death, and immorality. In her poem, Because I could not stop for
Death, the theme of death is being described differently than it usually is through poetic devices such

KBE is a system or process which collects and stores and organizes this knowledge and makes it
available in the reusable form by providing computational support to the design process.
The need of KBE arouse due to problems in current knowledge structure, which is disorganized.
Existing databases, designs, thumb rules, etc. are not maintained in order, which makes the reusability
difficult. Current knowledge structure is not secure also, as the databases that are not prepared
centrally are susceptible to changes by other designers and loose reliability. Capturing knowledge is
essential, but capturing the knowledge that is not necessary would lead to confusion and decrease
effective reusability. KBE systems solve all the problems which are indicated above. KBE allows
designers to devote more time and effort in creative and the innovative work and makes design
process simpler. KBE system automatically extracts the given necessary knowledge from every stage
of design cycle, and makes this knowledge available for remaining design cycles. KBE system allows
capturing and organization of knowledge in an efficient manner. With the application of KBE, it is
possible to analyze the possibility of manufacturing any part, knowing whether design is optimal or
there are other alternative solutions available based on the designer. The objective of the present work
is to develop methodology for automating

This experiment was conducted to determine the extent to which commercially bought pipettes
accurately deliver desired volumes. A range of small and large volumes of DI water were drawn using
three different sized pipettes and massed using an analytical balance. The weights of the water aliquots
were divided by the appropriate density of water at 26 to calculate the actual volumes delivered. Error
percent analysis was then utilized to deduce the deviation from the accurate volumes. The three
different sizes of pipettes used were Epprendorf 10, 100 and 1000 L. The results entailed a higher
accuracy in delivering the large volumes, compared to the small volumes, within the same pipette. In
addition, the medium sized pipette (10 100L) was the most accurate in delivering the targeted

This type of system is usually initiated by government, or as a result of pressure groups and lobbyists
campaigning for a particular disadvantaged group. It is usually found where disparities and
imbalances in employment exist as a result of discriminatory practices on the basis of race and color,
gender, disability, or any other unfair grounds not related to the job. The Civil Rights Act of 1964, as
stated by Desario and Slack, outlawed discrimination in public accommodations, voting, education,
employment, and the utilization of public funds (Farazmand 2007, 355). The Equal Employment
Opportunity Act of 1972 which extended the Civil Rights Act of 1964 requirements and it s
commission was established to enforce Title VII, the employment section of the Act, and the Office of
Federal Contract Compliance to enforce the nondiscrimination requirements applied to government
contractors (Farazmand 2007, 355) on the basis of race, color, gender, religion, or national origin.
Desario and Slack argue that following the intent of the Fourteenth Amendment, affirmative action
meant public policies that afforded individuals opportunity without discrimination. (Farazmand, 2007,

discrimination and therefore, the goal of affirmative action would shift from equality of opportunity to
equality of outcome (Farazmand, 2007, 357). Affirmative Action is a highly controversial policy. Its
guidelines and policies have resulted in many important changes in the selection process. They have

  • 2. Julian Thomas Humanism In the comparison of Julian Thomas chapter Archaeology s Humanism and the Materiality of the Body , and Joanna R. Sofaer s chapter The Body as an Archeological Resource it was found that individuals are characterized by cultural identities. In Thomas chapter there was an emphasis on how individuals view themselves, particularly in regards to associated cultural stigmas. Sofaer claims that the body is the major archeological source with cultural characteristics. In Archaeology s Humanism and the Materiality of the Body , the major idea that was highlighted was the modern era the main philosophy is that of humanism, which led to the idea of post processual archaeology . Archeology is the study of understanding humans, cultures and the past, not just focusing on the scientific ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction When posed with all of today s favorite four and five letter words, the feeling is mutual among most audiences, it s entertainment, but go to the other side and you ll soon realize that people are willing to have an entire book banned to keep those very words out of reach. Despite the use of explicit language in Fahrenheit 451, it should be studies in schools for it conveys an important message of thinking for yourself and places emphasis on the value of written text and literature as a whole. Body Paragraph 1: Ray Bradbury s main focus in his novel was based upon his fear of modern alienation and negative effects of which technology has on written publications and the freedom of the mind of an individual. This quote represents the way that the author s anti utopian style further depicts the alienation between people and literature, as well as the isolation of people from other people, as a negative effect of the advancements of modern technology. His dystopian world both represents and decries modern alienation, itself a symptom of unbridled progress in which, by following blind ideals, we can hardly escape from ourselves , (Watt). The most notable case of a politician using celebrity endorsers is that of former President Ronald Reagan, a former B list actor himself. Some of his supporters in 1980 included James Cagney, Zsa Zsa Gabor, and Hoagy Carmichael (West and Orman 38). The growing connection between politics and Hollywood has happened for a number of reasons, in a somewhat cyclical fashion. Politicians need Hollywood stars to support their campaigns because celebrities are useful in fundraising attempts and recognition. They have the advantages of fame, wealth, and can easily command press attention. In return, celebrities endorse candidates whose policies are beneficial to their industry. For example, while Clinton was in office he argued for industry self regulation and a television rating system, as opposed to formal government regulation (Ormand and West 38). For this and other reasons, Hollywood stars donated large sums of money to Democratic candidates in return. In 2000, Hollywood contributed $20 million to Democrats as opposed to the $13 million that was contributed to the less Hollywood friendly Republican party (Ormand and West 40). According to John Perry, the memories and personality traits as well as beliefs and intellectual skills make up a personal identity and the body is just a vessel that holds this identity (TP, 197). The name of Hard Rock is based on a hard nut to crack because he was the only one inmate who never submitted and gave a lot of troubles to officers. The Hard Rock was treated really badly and punished as warning to other inmates in the hospital. Why he was treated so badly is because not only he never submitted to officers; there might be that he was a black person. While the Hard Rock was treated badly, other inmates were very submissive to officers because they did not want to be treated in the same way as Hard Rock. He was forced under the strong power in the oppressive community, yet he had the power of perseverance and was very strong; hence, his attitude has not changed through the poem. The Hard Rock was a hero for other inmates because he was very strong, against the authority, and brought hope to other inmates in the poem Hard Rock Returns to Prison by Etheridge Knight. The Concept Of Government Is The Self-Actualized Society In our days, people all around the world more or less suffer from hunger, diseases, poverty, inequality, crime, wars and etc., and government of different countries are not there to change things, but instead to keep things as they are. There is a solution in understanding the nature of this suffering and finding the alternative government system, which will solve the puzzle. Such system was introduced by Jacque Fresco under the Venus Project. I am arguing that the best form of government is the self actualized society . It is the scientific and technologically organized society where the role for government would be surpassed by engineered systems. The self actualized society will replace money based economies with a resource based world economy. There would be interdisciplinary teams of knowledgeable people in different fields accompanied by cybernated systems to monitor all aspects of society to provide real time information supporting decision making for the wellbeing of all people and the protection of the environment. ASD is often misdiagnosed as pediatric bipolar disorder because they share similar symptoms. As these children with ASD become teenagers they are faced with having to deal with the normal hormones of puberty but lack the communication skills to verbalize their concerns. There is no known cure for ASD but it is treatable and the children can progress with early intervention being key (National Autism Association, 2014). Interventions such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Developmental Intervention Model (DIM), and Treatment and Education of Autistic and Related Communication of Handicapped Children (TEACCH) are a few interventions that help these children progress in life. ASD is a neurological disorder, and children who are diagnosed as autistic are often considered to have a severe disability, but the range of ability within this syndrome is broad (Westling Fox, 2000). ASD affects one in sixty eight children and boys are four times more likely than girls to have this disorder. Characteristics of this disorder can vary from mild to severe and may include the following characteristics: communication problems, for example, with the use or comprehension of language, difficulty relating to people, things, and ... Without reading the back cover, you would have no idea the path that this play would take, from finding out Paul was a con man, to Ouisa never hearing from him again. I honestly expected it to be a happy ending, but it surprised me when it wasn t. The story also interested me because all of this was based loosely on true events that were reported in New York papers in 1983. I think that its greatest weakness was its break in its message. While Ouisa and Flan tell their story about Paul, they constantly turn to the audience and break the fourth wall. While doing that sometimes can be beneficial, they do it practically every other line. I got confused when they kept switching, always having to go back and reread to see who they were talking to. Another way that they broke the message was interrupting each other. The need of KBE arouse due to problems in current knowledge structure, which is disorganized. Existing databases, designs, thumb rules, etc. are not maintained in order, which makes the reusability difficult. Current knowledge structure is not secure also, as the databases that are not prepared centrally are susceptible to changes by other designers and loose reliability. Capturing knowledge is essential, but capturing the knowledge that is not necessary would lead to confusion and decrease effective reusability. KBE systems solve all the problems which are indicated above. KBE allows designers to devote more time and effort in creative and the innovative work and makes design process simpler. KBE system automatically extracts the given necessary knowledge from every stage of design cycle, and makes this knowledge available for remaining design cycles. KBE system allows capturing and organization of knowledge in an efficient manner.
