Bereavement Role, Disenfranchised Grief, And Mourning
Bereavement Role, Disenfranchised Grief, and Mourning
Laurel Ellzey
Denver School of Nursing
Abstract
Death is a part of life and eventually everyone on this earth will experience it. Nurses play an
important role in death. Mourning the death of a loved one is something that almost everyone will
experience in this lifetime because it is a natural response to death. Bereavement, grief and mourning
are all effected by one s culture, religion, the relationship with the deceased, personality, and how the
person died.
Bereavement Role
Nurses have a difficult yet unique role when it comes to bereavement. Nurses spend the most time
with patients, so they are most often the ones that patients choose to share their concerns, fears, and
grief with. According to Corr Coolican, (2010), bereavement is the term used when someone
significant is lost through death. According to Read (2002), nurses can help the bereaved by
acknowledging the death, using active listening, helping them to express their emotions and ensuring
that they are involved in the dying process. I am currently doing my senior capstone clinical rotation
at a jail and even though I haven t had to deal with any patient deaths so far, the patients that I deal
with are essentially experiencing a loss. To some of the inmates, being imprisoned is like losing a
loved one because they are cut off from the world and feel like their life is over. Even

Accommodation Advantages And Disadvantages
Tips on choosing the best accommodation type for your trip this year
Who doesn t love getting away from everything for a relaxing excursion? Whether your idea of
relaxation is heading to the quiet of the Lake District to hike to cosy country pubs or you much prefer
a city break to enjoy the hustle and bustle of a busy town choosing the right accommodation is key to
your happiness.
There are plenty of accommodation options, too, whether you are looking for a hostel, hotel, motel, a
flat or home rental, a swap, a couch surf or a hot camping spot, some tips are always valid.
1. No Dogs Allowed
Are you travelling with pets? Before you book an accommodation you will need to check to ensure
that they accept pets. It would be disappointing to arrive at your destination only to discover Rover isn
t welcome, so plan head when making your booking.
2. Location, Location, Location
One of the biggest mistakes people make is finding a good deal and not realising that it s located
nowhere near where you want to be. If you re heading to London you don t want to find yourself two
trains away from the centre of the city! So, take time to look at a map and see where your potential
accommodation is located when compared to your ideal spot. This is especially true if you re looking
to rent a flat or a house. If you do choose somewhere out of the way, make sure you know what public
transport is available and how often it runs. Otherwise, you will need to consider a car rental service.

Summer Heights High Analysis
The two films of documentary Educating Essex and mockumentary Summer Heights High both have
troublesome teenagers as the centre of the text. Summer Heights High has Jonah, Jonah is from a
Tongan background and is the main trouble maker in the school. Educating Essex is the documentary
of Vinni, Vinni was a bright, likeable star pupil when he came to Passmore Academy school in year 7.
Vinni was affected by the breakdown of his parents marriage, he was unable to emotionally cope and
he went down in a spiral becoming a nuisance in the school. The comparative essay question is asking

Summer Heights High is set in an average year 7 12 school in Australia. They both share some
similarities and differences. One of the major differences between them is how the school in
Educating Essex deals with the atrocious behaviour of Vinni. Vinni used to be a star pupil but he did
not emotionally cope well with the breakdown of his parents marriage. The school refused to expel
him because 80 85% of prison inmates were expelled from high school and his school stood by his
side until the year 10, end of year exams. Educating Essex did not show a meaningful, objective and
realistic portrayal of the modern male experience of school because the character of Vinni was
aggrandized to be a dramatic character.
In the mockumentary Summer Heights High Jonah s background is closely related to Vinni s
behaviour. Jonah has a behaviour of being disruptive, ultimately caused from his mother s death.
Unlike Educating Essex Jonah was expelled because of a threat he made to a teacher. The stereotype
Jonah is designed to portray is typically destructive, rude and stupid behaviour, reflecting why Jonah
was expelled.
Both the characters in Educating Essex and Summer Heights High are exaggerated examples of
showing bad behaviour and utter disobedience, not leading to a meaningful, objective and realistic
portrayal of the modern male experience of school. Both Educating Essex and Summer Heights High

The New Class Of Anti Diabetic Drugs
Abstract
Glitazones are the new class of anti diabetic drugs that are the first to be able to manage glycaemia
goals. Troglitazone was first approved for the market in 1997, but it was withdrawn from the market
by 2000. After the withdrawal of troglitazone, rosiglitazone and pioglitazone were introduced in 1999
as potentially safer alternatives. However, currently rosiglitazone is under black box warning for
increased risk of cardiovascular disease and pioglitazone is in a nutshell as the drug required more
investigation. In this review, the potential ability to predict the adverse drug reactions (ADRs) are
examined. If it is possible to predict ADRs, should it be done in the future.
Introduction
Millions of people worldwide are affected due to diabetes, 90% of them having type 2 diabetes
mellitus (non insulin dependent). Since 1921, drug therapy has been improved minutely and in 1950s
the antidiabetic sulphonamides and biguanides has been introduced. Therefore, the arrival of glitazone
or thiazolidinediones is an important event (14).
Thiazolidinediones are being developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and insulin
resistance. Thiazolidinediones binds and activate the peroxisome proliferator activated receptor γ
(PPAR), a nuclear receptor that regulates the several genes which are involved in metabolism. The
PPAR γ controls lipid storage, insulin sensitization and adipocyte differentiation. Besides the
metabolic activities, thiazolidinediones also have

The Depth of Diction in Richard Hayden’s Those Winter Sundays
When reading a poem it is important to understand that the chosen diction possesses more depth
beyond what is literally meant. Information hidden beneath metaphorical verses serves to not only
give insight into the writers thinking process, but also to communicate with readers. Richard Hayden
s, Those Winter Sundays, serves as a poetic narrative describing the actions taken by a father to ensure
his family s well being. Hayden s modern sonnet generates multiple concepts of love, sacrifice and
regret which assist the reader in understanding the limitless capacity of someone s devotion and the
recipients of this affection lack of gratitude. The title of any given work of literature is always
significant to the author s meaning and intent of the work. Hayden meticulously inserts an emotional
symbolism in the title of the poem which already opens the reader s eyes to the incoming
melodramatic nostalgic mood of the poem. Reading the title as a whole, one will assume that because
the words are in past tense form, the work will have a reminiscent feel to it. Nevertheless, when the
words are broken down and analyzed individually, more information about its meaning can be
derived. Firstly, the word those from the title serves a dual purpose. On one level, those illustrates
distance which will possibly allude to the speakers distance with his father during childhood.
Secondly, being that the word is pluralized, the use of those in the title also suggests something that is

Importance Of Leadership In Public Administration
For centuries, leadership has been studied and used as a theme in many works of literature. The
Egyptians had the word leadership written in hieroglyphics. The Chinese studied and wrote about the
responsibilities of its leaders to the people. Homer, Plato, and Aristotle wrote about leadership in their
literature. Authors such as Caesar, Cicero, Seneca, and Plutarch wrote about leadership as it related to
administration. (Bass Bass, 2008). By 1948, Stogdill was able find 128 studies of leadership that he
classified according to the traits of importance of leadership: capacity, achievement, responsibility,
participation, and status. (Bass Bass, 2008). Leadership will continue to be studied as more questions
arise about its importance in public administration.
Studying leadership is important in public administration because in organizations, effective
leadership provides higher quality and more efficient goods and services; it provides a sense of
cohesiveness, personal development, and higher levels of satisfaction among those conducting the
work. (Van Wart, 2003). The study of leadership in public administration is also important in that
public administrators have to be involved with many different levels the administrations. Because of
this involvement, they must be able to connect the different levels of the administration with their
leadership. Secondly, the leadership skills of a public administrator must be strong enough to deal with

Parkinson s Disease And The Disease
Parkinson s disease is a chronic disorder of the nervous system with a gradual onset that primarily
affects the body s motor system. The symptoms of the disease are mainly caused by the death of
dopamine producing cells in the midbrain. Dopamine is an important neurotransmitter that, among
other things, is responsible for playing a role in how the brain controls bodily movements. Therefore,
the cardinal symptoms of the disease are movement related, including tremor and rigid, jerky
movements. Parkinson s is a progressive disease, meaning it gets worse over time, until it eventually
leads to complete disability. Parkinson s is a fairly common disease, and several well known people,
such as actor Michael J. Fox and boxer Muhammad Ali have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Parkinson s disease produces both motor symptoms and nonmotor symptoms. There are four cardinal
motor symptoms of Parkinson s: tremor, rigidity, bradykinesia (slow movements), and postural
instability. Tremor is the most obvious symptom of Parkinson s, as well as the most common. The
tremor is uncontrollable and is most noticeable when the limb is at rest; when the limb is in use, the
tremor disappears. Often times, the tremor only affects the hand or foot on one side of the body, but it
can eventually become bilateral. Rigidity is characterized as stiffness and resistance to movement in
the limbs. The arms, legs, face, and back are areas commonly affected. Early on, rigidity can cause
joint pain, often in the shoulder. Bradykinesia is one of the most common symptoms of Parkinson s. It
is described as slowness and difficulty in initiating and making movements, especially repetitive
movements and fine motor skills, such as writing. Bradykinesia greatly affects the ability of the
Parkinson s sufferer to perform common activities of daily life, like getting dressed. According to
Nolden (2015), postural instability is the imbalance and loss of righting reflexes. This is usually a
symptom that shows up in the late stages of Parkinson s. Postural instability is linked with high rates
of hip fractures in people with Parkinson s disease, due to increased falls. Aside from the four cardinal
motor symptoms, there are secondary motor symptoms that go

Woman Hating
Dworkin writes scathingly on footbinding in her book Woman Hating, alleging that in obtaining a
crippled wife, a man glories in her agony, he adores her deformity, he annihilates her freedom, he will
have her as a sex object, even if he must destroy the bones in her feet to do it. Brutality, sadism, and
oppression emerge as the substantive core of the romantic ethos. (Dworkin 112). Jeffreys quotes the
above from Dworkin in her own analysis of feet binding, ultimately concluding that foot binding was
the nascent precursor of a wave of prostitution which swept China. Indeed, Jeffreys adopts the
dominate theory posited by John Mao, prefacing that Women were dragooned into binding their
daughters feet, despite knowing the pain it would cause, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their arguments only point out how women are incapacitated or used as objects. However, as Brown s
field study showed, this analysis fails to comprehensively address causative forces of male dominance
from an economic standpoint. Though they are right in identifying male lust as the driving force
behind the subjugation of women, what is misunderstood are the consequences of such lust, which do
not cease with direct harm or objectification of women. By engaging in beauty practices, women are
not only rendered playthings, which is what the three seem to suggest, but are additionally retooled to
fit subservient economic roles, which serve to heighten and establish the hierarchal dominance of
men. Applying this economic perspective provides greater resolution and understanding of patriarchal
hierarchies. As Karen A. Callaghan observes in her introduction to the anthology Ideals of Feminine
Beauty: Philosophical, Social, and Cultural Dimensions, The gender hierarchy is sustained by beauty
norms that define women s power, self assertion and worth in terms that reify male dominance.
(Callaghan ix). Understanding the consolidation of male dominance necessitates defining these
hierarchies in a way that describes how female subservience is produced. It is important to note that
these hierarchies are multifaceted and exist as political, social,

Thesis: The strengthening of women through other women is illustrated by Mattie s role as a daughter
to Miss Eva, a sister to Etta Mae, and a mother to Lucielia.
PARA 2: Miss Eva Turner plays a vital role in Mattie s life by taking her in during her loneliness and

Lucielia was literally dying of grief and rage. It is Mattie s intervention and her ability to place
Lucielia s grief in a historical context and to know it as one more instance of murdered dreams in a
long history of such murders that undergirds her life saving and healing intervention (Aull, 2) Mattie
healed and renewed Lucielia physically and mentally. Mattie magnificently wrestles Ciel, dying of
grief, back to life (Gottlieb p.1484). Mattie took on the role of a mother when she nursed Lucielia
back to health. Mattie treated and nursed Lucielia as if handling a newborn (Naylor, 104). Mattie s
relationship with Basil teaches her valuable lessons that help her to be a more effective mother figure

solely dependent on her. My Bed hasn t been empty since Basil was born (38). Mattie spoiled Basil to
the point he would always have to have his way. He knew his mother would always be there for him.
Because of that, he took advantage of her. It was hard for Mattie to watch the turmoil and sadness
Lucielia had to encounter in her love life. It was like watching her child suffer. However, Mattie wasn

She never told her what to do. She just listened and gave her support her. Lucielia questioned

Analysis Of Donald J. Trump s Looking Glass Self
Donald J. Trump s tax returns, and his 3.7 billion net worth, was once the reason he was critiqued in
the media. Once his political career commenced, the media satisfied the audience s thirst to revise
candidate Trump s history of privilege and business skills (and how he got them), to such an extent
that the election of 2016 was almost omnipresent. I reexamined the sociological aspects in Tremonti s
CBC session with David Cay Johnston. Johnston s stance is that Trump is a no good manager, and that
he will not be a good president. Charles Horton Cooley s Looking Glass Self, explains how Trump
became the man he is today. Lastly, Trump s extreme self regard creates untrustworthy relations,
which will be fatal for America s businesses and trades.
Synopsis
In CBC s podcast, Johnston exclaims that [if] Trump ran the U.S. economy like he does his business,
the U.S. would have terrible, terrible problems. Investigator and expert in US economics, David
Johnson meant to study the spread of casino gambling when he went to Atlantic City. There, he met
Donald Trump and began to investigate his taxes instead. Over the years he was able to collect tens of
thousands of Trump s papers. All of those records are strong evidence that Trump pays very little
taxes, or none at all. Johnston s CBC podcast was live on Thursday, September 29, 2016, when the
idea of Trump becoming president was seemingly inconceivable. Unfortunately for many, as of

The Accomplishments Of Edmund Kean
Edmund Kean, one of the greatest and most historic British actors to ever live. Kean might have been
born on March 17th in the year of 1789,and I say might have because no one really knows when he
was born. The exact date of his birth has been a mystery for what seems like forever now, and as the
years keep going, the chance of this mystery being solved becomes less and less possible. We re at the
point now where we ll probably never find out when Edmund Kean was born, all we have is a rough
estimate at the moment. He had a turbulent life and therefore he also used that to his advantage by
being a turbulent genius and was recognized for his megalomania and his erotic behavior which
caused him being a villain it mostly every Shakespearean play he took part in. (Britannica). Something
that has actually been proven was that his birth mother was a lady named Ann Carey, she was actually
an actress. His father was Edmund Kean the first, He died at a very young age after having his son. He
was a reckless youth and ended up killing himself at a young age of twenty two years of age. After
Kean s death, the young boy was pretty much adopted by his fathers oldest brother, Moses Keen and
his wife Charlotte Tidswell. He was a part time member of the Drury Lane Theater Comapany, and

Modern non human anthropoids consist of New and Old World monkeys and the great and lesser apes
that inhabit a range of environments throughout North and South America, Africa, and Euroasia. At
least 90% of the anthropoid population consists of monkeys. There are two distinct Parvorders of
anthropoids that have been evolving independent of each other for at least 30,000,000 years: the
Platyrrhine and the Catarrhine. These two diverse groups of species can be distinguished from each

Current ideas suggest that the common ancestor of humans and African apes lived only about 5 8
million years ago; so, for more than 50 million years, humans and the African apes have shared
primate ancestry. Within this ancestry, a new level of movement began to come into existence known
as bipedalism: the ability to walk and run upright on two legs. There are various theories about when
our ancestors started walking upright, but a popular view is that perhaps about 7 million years ago,
early hominids began to adapt to a climate that was cooling globally. The huge rainforest expanses in
Africa were being replaced with savannah and patches of woodland, requiring the tree climbing apes
to become more adept at walking on land. Our ancestors who ventured out into the savannah were
rewarded with roots, shrubs and occasional animal carcasses, ensuring that those who walked on two
legs were more likely to survive. Even so, the jump from trees to land is not all that significant
because some of the early hominids anatomical structures may have already been pre adapted to
bipedalism while climbing trees and stretching for fruit. Bipedalism primarily allowed hominids to
free their arms completely, enabling them to make and use tools efficiently, stretch for fruit in trees
and use their hands for social

Analysis on Swift s Attitude towards Humanity
Introduction
In1726, Jonathan Swift, one of the best known realistic writers in 18th century, published his book
Gulliver s Travels which on the surface is a collection of travel journals of a surgeon called Lemuel
Gulliver but actually is a work of satire on politics and human nature. In the four incredible
adventures, Gulliver s perceptions are tied closely with Swift s shame and disgust against British
government and even against the whole of the human condition as Richard Rodino says in his book
that Gulliver is neither a fully developed character nor even an altogether distinguishable persona;
rather, he is a satiric device enabling Swift to score satirical points. (Rodino 124) ... Show more

The Factors Of Food Waste In Public Schools
Growing research shows steady increase in food waste throughout the globe. One largely contributing
factor is food waste produced from the public schools. The amount of food wasted in schools,
according to the USDA, has ranged between 10 37% of calories served (Buzby, J., Guthrie, J., 2002).
It is difficult to compare public school waste to global amounts due to the scarcity of specific data this
would depend on region, economic status and additional factors associated with how and why food is
wasted in schools. Having said that, this is a large enough problem that it is actively noticed and
prompting intervention. With these numbers rising, food waste negatively impacts costs for the
community, carbon emissions, water use and more.
However, students in the public schools are not completely to blame, as some factors affect food waste
after the implementation of some lunch programs, which are targeted to increase encourage students to
reach their recommended adequate intake of nutrients, such as the Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act of
2010 (Hakim, S., Meissen, G., 2017). Likewise, food serving methods have also played a role in the
amount of food wasted by students, by using the offer model and serve model approaches in
cafeterias. A non exclusive list of other issues affecting food waste in schools are: socioeconomic
status, accessibility of food at home, the time of day food is consumed, the amount of time given to
eat, student activity level, health limitations or

The Piano Lesson Analysis
In the book, The Piano Lesson Augustus Wilson tells a story about his family who is struggling with
their past. The story begins with a Boy Willie coming up from the South to bring up the idea of selling
the family s legacy, a piano, which he will sell to buy the land that his ancestors were slaves on. The
only problem is that his sister Bernice owns half the piano and she doesn t want to let him sell it.
Throughout the play Wilson portrays the theme that we need to forget our past in order to move
forward in life. We will always remember our past, but we should not let it limit us to what we can do.
The piano represented the importance of slaves during slavery times. During slavery Slaves were
traded like objects and were not important to their owners. For example as Wining Boy, Lymon, Boy
Willie, and Doaker are having a get together around the dining room table, Doaker begins his story to
explain the history of the piano and he says, ... To understand about that piano... you got to go back to
slavery time (42) . This shows how slaves were not treated fairly or like humans in the past, unlike
today where more and more people are being treated equally. As doaker was finishing his story he
says, Now she had her piano and her niggers too (44). When the author goes from talking about the
piano, which is not human to talking about people it shows how slaves were nothing but an accessory
to their owners. By the end of Doaker s story it becomes clear on how much the families past is
affecting them right now in the present. The pianos physical features also have a symbolic meaning in
the play. During Doaker s story he mentions the carving in the piano which shows the history behind
the piano. Berniece has many attachment to the piano. She refuses to play it, but also refuses to sell it.
The piano reminds Berniece of the sacrifices that her family had to make for the piano. These
attachments shows that Berniece has a hard time accepting and moving forward from things that
happen in the past. At the beginning of the book the author writes, She is still in mourning for her
husband after three years (3). The details about Berniece that the author gives us shows how Berniece
has a hard time of letting things from

people they will be way more intoxicated than a heavier person, because heavier people can dilute
alcohol faster. However, if a person is drinking and driving and if the police catch them, they have to
use the breathalyzer and if they blow a 0.8 or more they will be taken to jail. If someone is caught
drinking and driving they will receive a DUI (Driving under the influence) and they may have their
licenses suspended. Therefore, if someone is drinking at a friends house they either need to wait to go
home until they are sober or they need to call someone that is not drinking and or they just need to
stay where they are so they do not risk their life or someone else s. Meanwhile, sometimes instead of
doing the breathalyzer, the officers might make them do a blood test, urine test. However, the officers
that pulled them over may make them walk the line to see if they can walk straight (White 23). In
conclusion, drinking and driving is not worth someone s

Greek And Roman Pantheon Essay
From different eras, both ancient Greek and Roman art and architecture have left an impression
around the world. Two major works that show a great deal of the culture of the people during the time
of their design and construction are the Greek Parthenon built around 432 B.C. in Athens and the
Roman Pantheon built around 125 C.E. in Italy. There are many similarities and differences between
the Greek Parthenon and the Roman Pantheon.
The biggest difference is the construction of the two temples. The Parthenon is a rectangular, while the
main structure of the Pantheon is circular; built to contain a sphere. The two structures look similar
from the front, with sculptures and scenes above and a portico braced by eight columns. The Pantheon

Yet, even as temples, there are differences amid them. The Parthenon was built to honor the goddess,
Athena, daughter of Zeus and patron goddess of Athens. The Pantheon was built to in honor of all the
Roman gods and goddesses. The Parthenon is an important symbol of Greek cultural. The temple
reveals the religious beliefs of Greece at the time. The care and attention paid to the architecture
shows how much the Athenians valued Athena. The art in the temple echoes the conquests of Greek
culture; a unique symbol of cultural power; a symbol for their greatness throughout the Classical
order. The Pantheon in Rome was built at a transitional point in Roman History, when the old stories
and beliefs of the ancients had not been abandoned, but Christianity and Mithraism, were beginning
taking hold. The Pantheon was first built as a temple for the gods of the seven planets in the Roman
state religion, but since the seventh century has been a Christian church. The Pantheon is the most
well conserved building in Rome and the oldest building in the world with its original roof intact.
Since the Renaissance the Pantheon has been used as a tomb housing the remains of two kings and a
queen, Vittorio Emanuele II, Umberto I, and Vittorio Emanuele s Queen, Margherita among others.
The structure is considered a national treasure (Lisa,

Mood In Shakespeare s Much Ado About Nothing
Much Ado About Nothing is a comedy by Shakespeare about love and misunderstandings between
several characters. Claudio and Hero are in love but Claudio is led to believe that Hero has been
unfaithful while Beatrice and Benedick both love each other but will not admit it. Since the story is a
comedy that deals with serious issues such as infidelity and deceit, the mood shifts often between
positive and negative moods, as shown in my diagram. In the diagram, the closer the point is to the
top, the more positive the mood was during the scene and the closer the point is to the bottom, the
more negative the mood was. While some scenes only had positive moments, others had both positive
and negative. These scenes placement on the diagram reflects the average mood of the entire scene.
This means that while a scene could have had a very positive moment, it will be placed lower on the
diagram if the scene also contained a negative moment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Act I, scene 1 has a lighthearted happy mood throughout it, as does scene 2. The characters are all
happy about winning their battle and Claudio is in love. The characters in these scenes only have high
hopes for the future and do not express any negative thoughts that would affect the mood, which is
why these scenes are placed so high. Scene 2 is placed slightly lower than scene 1 because, while it is
completely positive, it does not express the joy and love that is in scene 1. Scene 3 of Act I is placed
extremely low on the diagram because it has a very negative mood caused by the introduction of Don
John, the villain of the play, who is the bitter brother of Don

There are a number of challenges faced by organizations wishing to conduct business with other firms
in a foreign country. The reason behind this is that the organization will be required to engage either in
the importation or exportation of goods or services. The Emirates Motor Company has for many years
engaged in the importation of Mercedes Benz from Germany into the UAE. One of the major
challenges that the organization has suffered is lack of sufficient funding. As such, the organization

The company is considered to be one of German s big 3 manufactures of luxury automobiles along
with BMW and Audi. The three manufacturers currently dominate the world market for luxury cars.
Over the past years, Mercedes Benz has been seen to engage in activities aimed at increasing its global
presence. The company has been seen to open franchises in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East in order
to take advantage of the rapid economic growth in the regions. The company has also been seen to
keenly monitor its African market. It has opened a franchise in Egypt to help it conduct business with
Africa more efficiently and effectively. In 2014 alone, Mercedes Benz sold 2.5 million cars.
Besides the manufacture of automobiles, the company also offers financial services. It performs this
role through the help of Daimler Financial Services AG. The arm of the organization has aided the
company to further penetrate the Middle East market. In 2009, Mercedes Benz announced the official
opening of Mercedes Benz Leasing Middle East and Mercedes Benz Finance Middle East. The two
new companies owned by Mercedes Benz had their headquarters established at Dubai, one of the

in a set of 10 amendments ratified by the states. Liberty, meaning freedom from governmental and
economic control, was the central factor and of utmost importance in the eyes of Madison and his
fellow founding fathers when drafting the Bill of Rights. Protecting the peoples respective personal
liberties such as freedom of speech and the right to exercise particular religious beliefs played a vital
role in the creation of these amendments however limits were also placed on the freedoms granted in

The media plays a massive role in the politics of the United States today and truly sets the agenda and
makes an extensive impression on public opinion. Through political advertising on the Internet and
television along with numerous other outlets, the opinions of citizens on issues such as healthcare,
presidency candidates, and many other concerns can be immensely swayed. Many Americans are not
politically intelligent or knowledgeable in current events so one well thought out advertisement can
nudge someone to vote for a particular person or advocate for a certain issue. Political advertising
does not significantly differ from advertising a consumer product such as Fructis shampoo or Poptarts
because both are pushing all the good things about their product/issue onto you and hoping that you
buy into what they are advertising and take the bait. Also, some advertisements will promote how bad
the opposition is while declaring that their commodity/candidate is more qualified and superior for
numerous reasons. Due to the fact that these political advertisements and the media manipulate
political perspectives, this truly is an insult to the idea of free elections because as the government
through advertising is now shaping Americans beliefs there are no longer unaltered political views.
The people are no longer making their own decisions but rather having choices placed in front of
them. The system of democracy is substantially degraded when citizens outlook on politics

Apple Bees Thesis
It was a normal Tuesday night and my family and I walked into the local Apple Bee s, one of our go to
restaurants because of the wide variety, good service, and great taste. The waitress led us to our table
with a big smile on her face. She began by telling us her name, saying the specials for the day, and
taking our drink orders. She then left while she got us our drinks, and she gave us time to look at the
menu. She came back with our drinks and took our orders. Before she left once again to put our orders

I have received bad service because of the early reveal of the coupon at more than just Apple Bee s, it
has also happened at Chevy s, one of the Mexican restaurants in town. While this is not apparent to
everyone, next time you give the waiter or waitress your coupon before receiving your food pay
special attention to the service you receive. Your food will likely take longer to arrive, and your waiter
or waitress also will be less willing to help you. Waiters and waitresses are less willing to put on the
fake smile after you present the coupon and instead they pour more of their attention and care into the
other tables they are waiting on. Both the waiter or waitress and the cooks know that your meal will
cost less with the coupon, and that they in turn will get a smaller tip, so why would they give you as
good of service as the person who is paying full price for their meal? The person paying full price is
probably more willing to give a larger tip as well, therefore, the waiter and waitress will give more
attention to them. Despite if you agree with me or not, know this; next time you are at a restaurant
wait until you have received all your food before presenting your coupon. This will ensure you that
you will receive better service, and your food

The Relationship Between Self Determination And Academic...
A comparison between the characteristics of students with high self determination and risky outcomes
of students with learning disabilities and ADHD reveal a connection. On one hand, those with high
self determination show class engagement, motivation, and positive self esteem (Linnenbrink Garcia
Patall). On the other hand, those with disabilities show disengagement or dropout, demotivation or
amotivation, and low self esteem (American Psychological Association, 2013; Cortiella Horowitz,
2012). This suggests that students with disabilities may be showing deficits in self determination, as
they are displaying the opposite outcomes as those to be expected in students with high self
determination (i.e., low connectedness and low sense of belonging). Several studies have examined
levels of self determination, as well as factors that may lead to higher or lower self determination, in
samples of students with learning disabilities or ADHD. For example, a study by Zheng, Erickson,
Kingston, and Noonan (2012) examined the relationship between self determination and academic
achievement, concluding that differing levels of self determination could be used as a reliable
predictor for achievement in students with learning disabilities. Additionally, a study by Field, Sarver,
and Shaw (2003) found that several environmental factors may contribute to students development of
self determination in special education classrooms. One major factor they found was referred to as

Analysis Of Gae Polisner s The Summer Of Letting Go
Loss is hard. Whether a family member or a friend, death finds a way to reach us all. No matter how
we decide to cope with it, weak or strong, death can consume us, and if we re not careful, it is able to
change us to the point where you not only lose someone you loved or knew but to the point where you
begin to lose yourself entirely. In the novel, The Summer of Letting Go, written by Gae Polisner, we
follow the main protagonist Francesca Schnell on her journey to overcome the grief and the guilt of
the loss of her younger brother. During the summer of her sixteenth birthday, Francesca Schnell
should be going to the beach, hanging out with her best friend, and making out with her boyfriend.

Simon s death has such an impact on her where it gets to the point where she loses the will to live. She
says, In the months after I let Simon die, I spent countless hours trying to figure out how to stop my
breath and disappear. I m not sure I wanted to kill myself exactly. All I knew was that I wanted to be
gone. To be invisible, to slip away, (Polisner 20). Francesca uses the words let Simon die because she
blames herself for his death, when, in fact, it is not her fault at all. So especially during the time right
after Simon s death, when the pain and the guilt are as its strongest, and the memory still fresh in
everyone s heads, Francesca wanted to escape. She couldn t bear the absence of her brother and the
blameful eyes of her mother. She simply didn t want to exist anymore, because she could not handle
not only being the cause of her brother s death, but also one who destroys her family. Someone else
who was heavily impacted by Simon s death was Francesca s mother. Although she tried to direct her
grief into a positive cause, the Simon A. Schnell Drowning Foundation, it ended up becoming an
unhealthy obsession and outlet in which she buried both her and her grief in. As Francesca says, You
[her mother] spend your whole life in some dark basement trying to keep people out of the water,

The Emergency Department ( Ed )
Background Length of stay in the Emergency Department (ED) is one important aspect of healthcare
that can affect patient satisfaction as well as the number of patients that can be seen by a physician in a
day. Length of stay (LOS) is measured as the time a person spends at the ED between arrival and
departure (1). A longer LOS will not only affect patient satisfaction negatively by creating
unnecessary frustrations, but can also cause ED overcrowding, leading to poor patient care (2). The
number of ED visits in the U.S. i.s approximately 129.8 million in 2010 and is continuing to rise (10).
The issue of ED overcrowding has gained national attention due to many problems, such as a decrease
in hospital bed availability (3), an increase in hospital mortality, and an increase in the number of
patients leaving the ED before being seen by a physician (4). It has then become increasingly evident
that in order to improve patient care and ED flow, it is necessary to examine factors associated with
longer LOS in the ED. The purpose of this study is to examine specifically the patient population that
presents to the emergency department with suicidal ideation (SI), due to the lack of literature
regarding the topic of LOS in patients with suicidal ideation. Considering how vulnerable suicidal
patients are, it is even more crucial to provide prompt and timely care to them, and find ways to
reduce their LOS in the ED. SI is defined as unusual thoughts or desire to end one s life, which

My Experience With Real Estate And The Mortgage Crisis
My experience with real estate and the mortgage meltdown is very personal. The beginning of the
crisis happened around 2007 when I was in the 8th grade. Eighth grade was the year that my middle
school offered a trip to students to go to Washington D.C. and New York City. As a history buff and all
around lover of traveling to new places, I was excited to be able to go on this trip. No one in my
family had ever been that far across the United States and I was determined to be the first one. Not
only was I offered the opportunity to travel, something that I did not often do, but also the chance to
visit two places full of history and wonder.
My prospect of going on the trip of lifetime was halted by the real estate and mortgage crisis. This was
because my father is a construction worker.
My father works for a construction company that builds frames. How I describe this to others is: he
creates the skeleton for houses and without him, houses cannot become homes. When the housing
market crisis happened, my father s company lost customers and jobs. No one needed framers
anymore. No one was buying houses because no one could afford them and some were being
foreclosed on. The company lost business and had to layoff employees because the world was in
economic turmoil. My Dad stopped receiving bonuses that would pay for our Christmas presents, our
family trips, and would be home more often because there just wasn t any work.
This was a depressing time for my entire family but we

The Three Key Elements Of Freud s Tripartite Personality...
Personality is the distinctive and relatively enduring way of thinking, feeling and acting that
characterises a person s responses to life situations. (O Brien 2011:103) The three key elements of
Freud s tripartite personality structure are the id, the ego and the superego. These three elements are
used in almost every decision a person makes on a day to day basis. The structure is mostly compared
to an ice berg with a small bit of the ego being above the water which would be the conscious and the
id and the superego being underneath the water and unconscious. The id and the superego are also
portrayed as the devil and the angel respectably. According to Zhu, (2012) his theory smashes the

The first of the structures is the id. The part of the mind in which innate instinctive impulses and

Rainforest Deforestation
Entire ecosystems are filled with unique species, and the frightening reality is deforestation takes the
habitat out from underneath its inhabitants (Bradford 2015). Forests have been cleared at a rate so
astonishingly fast, that over half of all known forests have been compromised. If this type of behavior
continues, the natural world will have to be given a new name, because nothing left will be natural .
Rainforests clearly have an outward benefits, from cleaning the air we breathe, to different diversity
among the species who inhabit this Earth. Organismal density around the equator is exceptionally
high, yet humans feel the need to clear much of that land for different use. Urbanization and the need
for more agricultural space play a critical role in how much land humans clear. What we as a species
forget is how all of these trees and biomes impact the world on a grander scale. Water vapor is needed
to complete the water cycle, but without trees constantly humidifying the air, the cycle becomes less
fluid. Sturdy trees like the ones in much of the rainforest hold the soil and anchor it from eroding.

that trees contribute to exclusively, like paper and fiber, would be in fewer supply. A driving factor in
the clearing of trees for land is the need for cattle to be able to graze (Holland 2017). Cattle is an
extremely ineffective way of producing food to feed the world, yet its high demand deems it a
necessity. The trees that cover this planet are like natural lungs that filter out the toxins in the air,
therefore, cutting down our air purifier for something as negligible as meat seems preposterous, yet it

Claude Mckay, a Dialectical Analysis Essay
Claude McKay amp; Dialectical Analysis
In Claude McKay s, Old England and Quashie to Buccra McKay uses dialect as a way to give poems
multiple meanings. What may be seen as a simplistic or naïve poem about Jamaican life may actually
be full of double meanings that only a select audience would be able to identify. In his poem s, McKay
ultimately gives Negros who work under white colonists the underlying message of black resistance
by revolution.
Perhaps what makes this interpretation so convincing is the background of the author. McKay was
born Sunny Ville Jamaica as the youngest of 11 sons. While in Jamaica, McKay wrote Songs of
Jamaica , which is where Quashie to Buccra is derived from. In this time, he also became a self ...

In actuality, the poem can be seen by Negros as a way to criticize the white plantation owner and in
fact plant the seeds of rebellion.
Indeed, the title of the work itself leads credence to it being veiled in double meaning. While a white,
European in the high rungs of the social ladder may read the poem as a simple address of worker to
plantation owner. However, a Negro experiencing the strife of Quashie, the black peasant worker who
produces sweet potatoes in the poem, may relate to the unfairness of they experience from the Buccra,
which is the white man being addressed in the poem. Indeed, McKay points out in the poem, You taste
the potato, and you say it s sweet, but you don t know how hard we work for it (McKay 2). Buccra
even attempts to haggle for a lower price, further showing he doesn t understand the work that goes
into farming the sweet potatoes, You want a basketful fe quattiewut (McKay 3). Not only does this
demonstrate the Buccra s insensitivity to the work that goes into the harvest, but it shows he s greedy
and milking the natives for every last sixpence.
A white reader may look at the reading as Quashie simply complaining about his hard work, The sun
is hot like when fire catches a town (McKay 9). In reality, Quashie would do this work even if he

A Case Study Of The Psychoanalytic Problem In Counselling
This Case study will discuss Louise (The Client) given that the emotional difficulty seems to have
begun for Louise since adopting a new child (Peter) due to the death of her husband s (Robert) sister,
Furthermore, a gambling addiction has emerged. The question arises of how each psychological
modality, theory or model could help Louise. To begin with, Firth (2015) describes the
Psychoanalytical approach (Freud) as focusing on the unconscious mind where events in childhood
shape the potentially developed adult. For this reason, therapy aims to uncover past conflicts created
in the unconscious mind and surface these (catharsis). Freud likened the mind to an iceberg.
Additionally, within this approach is theory Firth (2015) also suggests Freud ... Show more content on

Sweet Dreams Incorporated Case Study
Sweet Dreams Incorporated (SDI) utilizes two manufacturing plants both in North Carolina and South
Florida to produce mattresses and box springs. SDI has encountered financial difficulty since the
beginning of the 1990s that has been prolonged due to the ineffective strategies they have
implemented. As the problem prolongs, the company is faced with potentially being forced to file for
bankruptcy as it s current, quick, and debt ratios, all have failed to meet the contractual limits of the
agreement between SDI and First International Bank (Sweet Dreams, Inc., 1997). Furthermore, SDI
has recently signed a contract for a plant expansion that would require an additional $9,500,000 of
capital that is regarded as essential for the survival of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lax Credit Standards:
In an effort to remedy such disproportion between inventory and demand, in 1995 SDI began to
negligently issue credit lines. As exemplified by Table 2, due to such leniency net sales continued to
increase between 1995 and 1997 (Appendix A). However, as illustrated by Table 1 the relaxed credit
standards caused a 39% spike in accounts receivable from 1994 to 1995 (Appendix A). Consequently,
the increase in inventory and accounts receivable negatively impacted the current ratio of the firm. As
a result, the firm s liquidity dropped significantly below industry average in 1995 to 1.90 from 2.96,
well above the 2.25 average, in 1994 (Appendix C). Therefore, the cash flow of the firm was
negatively affected by the issuance of credit as accounts receivable continued to rise.
Loan Reliance:
As inventories and account receivable steadily increased, the firm distressingly opted for a short term
solution. By means of long term lending in 1994 and higher short term credit in 1994 and 1995, SDI
chose to temporarily resolve the current issues of the firm without considering the potential long term
ramifications. As illustrated in Table 1, long term loans remained the same while short term bank loans
increased by 71% between 1994 and 1995; a drastic change within a short span of time (Appendix A).
Similarly, as depicted in Table 2, the interest on the firm s short term loans rose from 1994 to 1995
whereas the

Bereavement Role, Disenfranchised Grief, And Mourning Bereavement Role, Disenfranchised Grief, and Mourning Laurel Ellzey Denver School of Nursing Abstract Death is a part of life and eventually everyone on this earth will experience it. Nurses play an important role in death. Mourning the death of a loved one is something that almost everyone will experience in this lifetime because it is a natural response to death. Bereavement, grief and mourning are all effected by one s culture, religion, the relationship with the deceased, personality, and how the person died. Bereavement Role Nurses have a difficult yet unique role when it comes to bereavement. Nurses spend the most time with patients, so they are most often the ones that patients choose to share their concerns, fears, and grief with. According to Corr Coolican, (2010), bereavement is the term used when someone significant is lost through death. According to Read (2002), nurses can help the bereaved by acknowledging the death, using active listening, helping them to express their emotions and ensuring that they are involved in the dying process. I am currently doing my senior capstone clinical rotation at a jail and even though I haven t had to deal with any patient deaths so far, the patients that I deal with are essentially experiencing a loss. Summer Heights High is set in an average year 7 12 school in Australia. They both share some similarities and differences. One of the major differences between them is how the school in Educating Essex deals with the atrocious behaviour of Vinni. Vinni used to be a star pupil but he did not emotionally cope well with the breakdown of his parents marriage. The school refused to expel him because 80 85% of prison inmates were expelled from high school and his school stood by his side until the year 10, end of year exams. Educating Essex did not show a meaningful, objective and realistic portrayal of the modern male experience of school because the character of Vinni was aggrandized to be a dramatic character. In the mockumentary Summer Heights High Jonah s background is closely related to Vinni s behaviour. Jonah has a behaviour of being disruptive, ultimately caused from his mother s death. Unlike Educating Essex Jonah was expelled because of a threat he made to a teacher. The stereotype Jonah is designed to portray is typically destructive, rude and stupid behaviour, reflecting why Jonah was expelled. Troglitazone was first approved for the market in 1997, but it was withdrawn from the market by 2000. After the withdrawal of troglitazone, rosiglitazone and pioglitazone were introduced in 1999 as potentially safer alternatives. However, currently rosiglitazone is under black box warning for increased risk of cardiovascular disease and pioglitazone is in a nutshell as the drug required more investigation. In this review, the potential ability to predict the adverse drug reactions (ADRs) are examined. If it is possible to predict ADRs, should it be done in the future. Introduction Millions of people worldwide are affected due to diabetes, 90% of them having type 2 diabetes mellitus (non insulin dependent). Since 1921, drug therapy has been improved minutely and in 1950s the antidiabetic sulphonamides and biguanides has been introduced. Therefore, the arrival of glitazone or thiazolidinediones is an important event (14). Thiazolidinediones are being developed for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and insulin resistance. Information hidden beneath metaphorical verses serves to not only give insight into the writers thinking process, but also to communicate with readers. Richard Hayden s, Those Winter Sundays, serves as a poetic narrative describing the actions taken by a father to ensure his family s well being. Hayden s modern sonnet generates multiple concepts of love, sacrifice and regret which assist the reader in understanding the limitless capacity of someone s devotion and the recipients of this affection lack of gratitude. The title of any given work of literature is always significant to the author s meaning and intent of the work. Hayden meticulously inserts an emotional symbolism in the title of the poem which already opens the reader s eyes to the incoming melodramatic nostalgic mood of the poem. Reading the title as a whole, one will assume that because the words are in past tense form, the work will have a reminiscent feel to it. Nevertheless, when the words are broken down and analyzed individually, more information about its meaning can be derived. Firstly, the word those from the title serves a dual purpose. On one level, those illustrates distance which will possibly allude to the speakers distance with his father during childhood. Secondly, being that the word is pluralized, the use of those in the title also suggests something that is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Egyptians had the word leadership written in hieroglyphics. The Chinese studied and wrote about the responsibilities of its leaders to the people. Homer, Plato, and Aristotle wrote about leadership in their literature. Authors such as Caesar, Cicero, Seneca, and Plutarch wrote about leadership as it related to administration. (Bass Bass, 2008). By 1948, Stogdill was able find 128 studies of leadership that he classified according to the traits of importance of leadership: capacity, achievement, responsibility, participation, and status. (Bass Bass, 2008). Leadership will continue to be studied as more questions arise about its importance in public administration. Studying leadership is important in public administration because in organizations, effective leadership provides higher quality and more efficient goods and services; it provides a sense of cohesiveness, personal development, and higher levels of satisfaction among those conducting the work. (Van Wart, 2003). The study of leadership in public administration is also important in that public administrators have to be involved with many different levels the administrations. Tremor is the most obvious symptom of Parkinson s, as well as the most common. The tremor is uncontrollable and is most noticeable when the limb is at rest; when the limb is in use, the tremor disappears. Often times, the tremor only affects the hand or foot on one side of the body, but it can eventually become bilateral. Rigidity is characterized as stiffness and resistance to movement in the limbs. The arms, legs, face, and back are areas commonly affected. Early on, rigidity can cause joint pain, often in the shoulder. Bradykinesia is one of the most common symptoms of Parkinson s. It is described as slowness and difficulty in initiating and making movements, especially repetitive movements and fine motor skills, such as writing. Bradykinesia greatly affects the ability of the Parkinson s sufferer to perform common activities of daily life, like getting dressed. According to Nolden (2015), postural instability is the imbalance and loss of righting reflexes. This is usually a symptom that shows up in the late stages of Parkinson s. By engaging in beauty practices, women are not only rendered playthings, which is what the three seem to suggest, but are additionally retooled to fit subservient economic roles, which serve to heighten and establish the hierarchal dominance of men. Applying this economic perspective provides greater resolution and understanding of patriarchal hierarchies. As Karen A. Within this ancestry, a new level of movement began to come into existence known as bipedalism: the ability to walk and run upright on two legs. There are various theories about when our ancestors started walking upright, but a popular view is that perhaps about 7 million years ago, early hominids began to adapt to a climate that was cooling globally. The huge rainforest expanses in Africa were being replaced with savannah and patches of woodland, requiring the tree climbing apes to become more adept at walking on land. Our ancestors who ventured out into the savannah were rewarded with roots, shrubs and occasional animal carcasses, ensuring that those who walked on two legs were more likely to survive. Even so, the jump from trees to land is not all that significant because some of the early hominids anatomical structures may have already been pre adapted to bipedalism while climbing trees and stretching for fruit. One largely contributing factor is food waste produced from the public schools. The amount of food wasted in schools, according to the USDA, has ranged between 10 37% of calories served (Buzby, J., Guthrie, J., 2002). It is difficult to compare public school waste to global amounts due to the scarcity of specific data this would depend on region, economic status and additional factors associated with how and why food is wasted in schools. Having said that, this is a large enough problem that it is actively noticed and prompting intervention. With these numbers rising, food waste negatively impacts costs for the community, carbon emissions, water use and more. However, students in the public schools are not completely to blame, as some factors affect food waste after the implementation of some lunch programs, which are targeted to increase encourage students to reach their recommended adequate intake of nutrients, such as the Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010 (Hakim, S., Meissen, G., 2017). The story begins with a Boy Willie coming up from the South to bring up the idea of selling the family s legacy, a piano, which he will sell to buy the land that his ancestors were slaves on. The only problem is that his sister Bernice owns half the piano and she doesn t want to let him sell it. Throughout the play Wilson portrays the theme that we need to forget our past in order to move forward in life. We will always remember our past, but we should not let it limit us to what we can do. The piano represented the importance of slaves during slavery times. During slavery Slaves were traded like objects and were not important to their owners. For example as Wining Boy, Lymon, Boy Willie, and Doaker are having a get together around the dining room table, Doaker begins his story to explain the history of the piano and he says, ... To understand about that piano... you got to go back to slavery time (42) . This shows how slaves were not treated fairly or like humans in the past, unlike today where more and more people are being treated equally. As doaker was finishing his story he says, Now she had her piano and her niggers too (44). When the author goes from talking about the piano, which is not human to talking about people it shows how slaves were nothing but an accessory to their owners. By the end of Doaker s story it becomes clear on how much the families past is affecting them right now in the present. The pianos physical features also have a symbolic meaning in the play. • 23. Mood In Shakespeare s Much Ado About Nothing Much Ado About Nothing is a comedy by Shakespeare about love and misunderstandings between several characters. Claudio and Hero are in love but Claudio is led to believe that Hero has been unfaithful while Beatrice and Benedick both love each other but will not admit it. Since the story is a comedy that deals with serious issues such as infidelity and deceit, the mood shifts often between positive and negative moods, as shown in my diagram. In the diagram, the closer the point is to the top, the more positive the mood was during the scene and the closer the point is to the bottom, the more negative the mood was. While some scenes only had positive moments, others had both positive and negative. These scenes placement on the diagram reflects the average mood of the entire scene. Many Americans are not politically intelligent or knowledgeable in current events so one well thought out advertisement can nudge someone to vote for a particular person or advocate for a certain issue. A comparison between the characteristics of students with high self determination and risky outcomes of students with learning disabilities and ADHD reveal a connection. On one hand, those with high self determination show class engagement, motivation, and positive self esteem (Linnenbrink Garcia Patall). On the other hand, those with disabilities show disengagement or dropout, demotivation or amotivation, and low self esteem (American Psychological Association, 2013; Cortiella Horowitz, 2012). This suggests that students with disabilities may be showing deficits in self determination, as they are displaying the opposite outcomes as those to be expected in students with high self determination (i.e., low connectedness and low sense of belonging). Several studies have examined levels of self determination, as well as factors that may lead to higher or lower self determination, in samples of students with learning disabilities or ADHD. For example, a study by Zheng, Erickson, Kingston, and Noonan (2012) examined the relationship between self determination and academic achievement, concluding that differing levels of self determination could be used as a reliable predictor for achievement in students with learning disabilities. No matter how we decide to cope with it, weak or strong, death can consume us, and if we re not careful, it is able to change us to the point where you not only lose someone you loved or knew but to the point where you begin to lose yourself entirely. In the novel, The Summer of Letting Go, written by Gae Polisner, we follow the main protagonist Francesca Schnell on her journey to overcome the grief and the guilt of the loss of her younger brother. During the summer of her sixteenth birthday, Francesca Schnell should be going to the beach, hanging out with her best friend, and making out with her boyfriend. All I knew was that I wanted to be gone. To be invisible, to slip away, (Polisner 20). Francesca uses the words let Simon die because she blames herself for his death, when, in fact, it is not her fault at all. So especially during the time right after Simon s death, when the pain and the guilt are as its strongest, and the memory still fresh in everyone s heads, Francesca wanted to escape. • 31. The Emergency Department ( Ed ) Background Length of stay in the Emergency Department (ED) is one important aspect of healthcare that can affect patient satisfaction as well as the number of patients that can be seen by a physician in a day. Length of stay (LOS) is measured as the time a person spends at the ED between arrival and departure (1). A longer LOS will not only affect patient satisfaction negatively by creating unnecessary frustrations, but can also cause ED overcrowding, leading to poor patient care (2). The number of ED visits in the U.S. i.s approximately 129.8 million in 2010 and is continuing to rise (10). The issue of ED overcrowding has gained national attention due to many problems, such as a decrease in hospital bed availability (3), an increase in hospital mortality, and an increase in the number of patients leaving the ED before being seen by a physician (4). It has then become increasingly evident that in order to improve patient care and ED flow, it is necessary to examine factors associated with longer LOS in the ED. The purpose of this study is to examine specifically the patient population that presents to the emergency department with suicidal ideation (SI), due to the lack of literature regarding the topic of LOS in patients with suicidal ideation. Personality is the distinctive and relatively enduring way of thinking, feeling and acting that characterises a person s responses to life situations. A Case Study Of The Psychoanalytic Problem In Counselling This Case study will discuss Louise (The Client) given that the emotional difficulty seems to have begun for Louise since adopting a new child (Peter) due to the death of her husband s (Robert) sister, Furthermore, a gambling addiction has emerged. The question arises of how each psychological modality, theory or model could help Louise. To begin with, Firth (2015) describes the Psychoanalytical approach (Freud) as focusing on the unconscious mind where events in childhood shape the potentially developed adult. For this reason, therapy aims to uncover past conflicts created in the unconscious mind and surface these (catharsis). Freud likened the mind to an iceberg. Additionally, within this approach is theory Firth (2015) also suggests Freud ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (1995). Cognitive therapy basics and beyond. New York: Guilford Press. • 42. Sweet Dreams Incorporated Case Study Sweet Dreams Incorporated (SDI) utilizes two manufacturing plants both in North Carolina and South Florida to produce mattresses and box springs. SDI has encountered financial difficulty since the beginning of the 1990s that has been prolonged due to the ineffective strategies they have implemented. As the problem prolongs, the company is faced with potentially being forced to file for bankruptcy as it s current, quick, and debt ratios, all have failed to meet the contractual limits of the agreement between SDI and First International Bank (Sweet Dreams, Inc., 1997). Furthermore, SDI has recently signed a contract for a plant expansion that would require an additional $9,500,000 of capital that is regarded as essential for the survival of ... As exemplified by Table 2, due to such leniency net sales continued to increase between 1995 and 1997 (Appendix A). However, as illustrated by Table 1 the relaxed credit standards caused a 39% spike in accounts receivable from 1994 to 1995 (Appendix A). Consequently, the increase in inventory and accounts receivable negatively impacted the current ratio of the firm. As a result, the firm s liquidity dropped significantly below industry average in 1995 to 1.90 from 2.96, well above the 2.25 average, in 1994 (Appendix C). Therefore, the cash flow of the firm was negatively affected by the issuance of credit as accounts receivable continued to rise. Loan Reliance: As inventories and account receivable steadily increased, the firm distressingly opted for a short term solution. By means of long term lending in 1994 and higher short term credit in 1994 and 1995, SDI chose to temporarily resolve the current issues of the firm without considering the potential long term ramifications. As illustrated in Table 1, long term loans remained the same while short term bank loans increased by 71% between 1994 and 1995; a drastic change within a short span of time (Appendix A). Similarly, as depicted in Table 2, the interest on the firm s short term loans rose from 1994 to 1995 whereas the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
